Lenovo Ideapad yoga 13 keyboard

Question: Lenovo Ideapad yoga 13 keyboard

Hi all, I've recently purchased the Ideapad yoga 13 secondhand without the backlit keyboard. I'm curious whether if I can replace my current keyboard with one that is backlit. Your responses will help me as I like to work in dim lit rooms more than brightly lit ones and a backlit keyboard will help me with productivity. Thank you!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi! I've got Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 Silver (https://www.alza.cz/EN/lenovo-ideapad-yoga-13-silver-d375124.htm), and while I am quite content with the device, my keyboard stopped working. I was wondering whether any of you might know and suggest an online reseller (official or otherwise), where I could get hold of a replacement keyboard. Now, I suppose backlit keyboard versions of newer Yoga laptops will not work I guess, will they? From what I have read Yoga 13 Silver does not have the slot required for backlit, but aside that, will the keyboard function and will it fit (dimension-wise)? If so, what is the voltage and current required? Would soldering a small battery to the backlit cable be a good idea (I accept the fact that I wouldn't be able to regulate it)? Thank you in advance!ck

New Yoga 700-141SK: Ran the Lenovo Support Center Hardware Scan and the Video Card Mathematical Operations Test has failed rendering the Report: WVC007002-UL7BPL. Is there a tried and proven solution out there? I have had a look at the solutions on the forum and am not satisfied that the solutions offered prove that the problem has been resolved. It is reasonable to expect Lenovo to make available a solution as a matter of course instead of end-users of "afflicted" Lenovo devices having to request/search for a solution(s).

Hello Lenovo forum users, thank you for taking the time to read my post. I became the owner of a new Lenovo Idea Pad Yoga 13 this past Christmas. As of recently, I have noticed that when I 'am using this laptop, the keyboard will frequently "lock up." In other words, it will not recieve any input from any keys on the keyboard. To fix this, I have been simply putting the laptop in 'Sleep' mode and re-awakening it, and the keyboard begins to work again. (I keep my laptop open at about 95-110 degrees - I am aware that the keyboard locks when the Yoga is in tablet/tent mode, but I rarely use these.) If someone could shed some light on this issue, I would greatly appreciate it. This is becoming quite a nuisance when I am trying to get work done!Thank you for your time and patience. I apologize if this is in the wrong forum category, as I am new to the Lenovo forum community.

Answer:IdeaPad Yoga 13 - Keyboard Keeps 'Locking'

hi HoffmanM,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Your problem might be similar to the first question on this thread.

The solution was to disable this service called "ymc" or Yoga Mode Control.
1. Open control panel and type "Local services" in search box
2. Click on Local services, scroll down to ymc, right click > properties > stop > startup type - disabled.
3. Restart laptop and the keyboard and mouse disabling problem should be fixed.

Credits goes to Hasan10.

Let me know your findings

Cheers

Hi My Lenovo Yoga 13 has stopped taking a charge. It happened about two days ago and has not charged since. I even took it to a local Best Buy and attempted to charge it with a different charger but no dice.I'm pretty sure I need to set up an RMA to send it in but I have been stuck on hold with Lenovo for 1 hour and 15 minutes now without any kind of response. I'm hoping someone on here can offer some assistance. It's difficult to post to this forum from my smartphone.

Within the last few days, a problem has appeared with my Yoga 2 pro.  If I transition to a different configuration (tablet, stand, tent ...) I no longer see the Lenovo transition icons appear.  The keyboard does get disabled like it is supposed to.  But, when I transition back to laptop mode, the keyboard no longer works.  I have to shut down to get the keyboard back.   Any thoughts?

Answer:Ideapad Yoga 2 pro transition/keyboard problem

Yesterday I updated the firmware.  I updated all of the drivers.  Transitions worked for the rest of the day.  This morning, I'm back to square one.  Transitions don't happen.  After making the device a tablet and then going back to laptop mode, the keyboard no longer works until I shut down and restart.  Any suggestions?

I left my ideapad (which was working fine and charging) plugged in this morning with the screen closed in a hotel with one of those keycards that control the electricity in my room, so that when I left all the electricity turned off. When I returned and turned the electricity back on, my computer gave no signs of charging, and appears to be completely dead. Nothing has happened to it (to the best of my knowledge), it was right where I left it, as I left it, but the thing appears dead. What happened???? Is there a solution???

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 11 not turning on?

So I guess the issue here is that the battery is dead and it won't change, but I'm baffled by what could have gone wrong between 9 AM and 3 PM when it was just sitting there

i haven't seen a support/driver matrix for the Yoga yet. i'd suspect that it will be reachable from here:

at some point since the machine is now officially available today.

if you have the machine, have you looked at the D: drive? as i understand IdeaPads, that's typically where the preload software installers are located.

I have a Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13, which came with an i5-3337U processor, 4GB RAM and 128SSD. I replaced the ram with http://www.integralmemory.com/sites/default/files/uploads/dpdf/IN3V8GNAJKXLV.pdf as I often found that 4gb wasn't enough. My laptop is now running at about 60 degrees celcius for each core. I don't know what it was before as I hadn't measured it before, but the fans sound louder. Have i installed ram that isn't compatible or something? It runs well and multitasking is now better, it just seems louder and hotter than before. Thanks in advance.

Answer:New RAM issue Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13

Hi, DM  ?

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

First of all, I recommend you update your motherboard BIOS if an update exists. Sometimes new memory profiles will be included. It's probably a timing issue, not a frequency issue.

To test properly you would have to: 1) Run with slow memory for five minutes in idle. Record highest CPU core temp. 2) Repeat with faster memory. 3) Repeat with slower memory again (because things are heating up).

Update us how it goes.

Hi, My name is jenny , i am having a major issue with my Lenovo Ideapad yoga 13 and was wondering if anyone could help me diagnose the problem. First the problem started when the laptop refused to turn on.So the lenovo laptop will not power up whatsoever even with a charger plugged in or with the battery removed and the charger plugged in. I replaced the battery and it turned on immidently but the battery slowly died and refused to charge. Now i am back to square one. I replaced the internal power jack where you plug the charger in and it still will not turn on and there is no lights indicating any power at all. Is is possible that a internal power cord can cause a battery to stop charging. Does anyone knwo what this could be? I know the computer motherboard is ok because when i replaced the battery the computer came on right away and the computer was fine but the battery refuses to charge.

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13 Issue

Hello Jenny, welcome to the forum.

Just a thought, but are you able to try another charger and/or charging cable? The fault may lie with one of these, rather than with the Yoga 13 itself?

I have been considering purchasing a Windows RT device as a replacement for my aging windows 7 laptop. I am especially interested in an RT device because of their portability, simplistic nature, and above all, price. A windows RT device is also optimal for me because I only do a number of things on my laptop, such as browsing, Microsoft Office work, and using a number of light desktop applications that could be easily replaced with applications from the windows 8 store. Therefore, I don't think it makes much sense for me to bother purchasing a high power laptop running the full version of Windows 8. I should also mention that I am a student. I have narrowed hunt down to two Windows RT devices: The Microsoft Surface, and the Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 11.
I like the Surface because of its beautiful industrial design, decent display, touch covers, and all the extra touches that Microsoft put into the device to make it special and unique. However, my greatest concern is typing on the touch cover; specifically, I worry that typing on my lap will be a painful process. 95% of my work on my Laptop is done with it in my lap while sitting on the couch, rather then having it rested on a table. Therefore, if the device does not sit well in my lap, it is significantly less valuable to me.
Before you mention the Ideapad Yoga's price, you should know that I have family connections to Lenovo, which allows me to get the Yoga for the same price as the Microsoft Surface. I especially like the Yoga be... Read more

Answer:Surface RT vs. Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 11

I would tell you, like all people to jump ship and abandon RT. Why would you want a limited OS when you can get a tablet running an atom for the same price? The Surface is a beautifully built machine and I really like the yoga's hardware design, but 799$ for a windows RT computer is laughable. I bought the HP envy x2 and love it. If you want a premium device with a decent keyboard, nice all-aluminum design and full windows 8, I recommend the HP envy x2. Also the Acer Iconia w510 is a great tablet for 599$ you get 64Gb running windows 8 and ASUS has the vivotab smart for 499$ with 64 Gb and an atom and I think they have the weird keyboard/cover thing that the surface has as well. If you REALLY wanted a surface I would say its not a bad choice but the yoga is. But I'll say it again, why limit yourself with RT when you can buy windows 8. Samsung and Acer are already not doing RT anymore because they said consumers don't see the value in it and its because there is no value in it, not when an atom tablet costs the same amount. That's my 2 cents but I have some programs like putty, matlab, office 2013 academic,
visual studio pro running on my tablet. The thing I will tell and think hard about this, are you sure there aren't ANY x86 programs you might want like turbotax, office pro, firefox, google chrome, vlc, utorrent just to name a few?

Hi everybody, I'm looking for a solution to draw/take notes on my lenovo yoga 13. Laptop's screen is capacitive, no digitizer, so I'm wondering what kind of stylus/pen can work with it. I'd like to have a pen with pressure sensitivity, but based on my research I couldn't find one that works for sure.Is there an active pen with bluetooth that can actually write on this screen? I have a  Lenovo Yoga 710 (IdeaPad), a few weeks ago I was working on it, and suddenly (and with NO reason) it died, so I sent it to the Repair center 3 weeks ago because its NEW, and still in warranty. I've reviewed the repair status several times, but the last update was on July 31st, and it seems that the part needed to repair my machine is unavailable. I use my PC on a daily basis and it is really affecting my work/studies (I'm a PhD student)! Moreover I'm finishing my Fellowship in the US en returning back to Argentina by September 15th, so I really, REALLY, need your help! I've phoned several times to the Lenovo service center, but nobody gave me a helpful answer. What can I do to get my PC back before my flight date?

Answer:LENOVO IDEAPAD YOGA 11 2696

Good day and welcome to the community.Sorry you're having difficulty.
Since you can't get into Windows to (re)start the recovery/restore process, you might need to do so from the Boot Menu as described on page 23 of the user guide: https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad_yoga_11_ug_v1.0_may_2012_english.pdf

I've never seen or used a Yoga 11 / Windows RT model, but you could try pressing Fn+F12 when you see the Lenovo boot splash screen to see if you get the Boot Options menu described. I don't know if you'd be given any options to retain any files or settings from this kind of restore/recovery, so please use caution.

Hope this helps you a bit.Regards.

I'm living in Australia and my computer suddenly went wrong. So I bring its to the warranty service in Australia, but they said my type of computer didn't warranty there. So I sent my computer to VietNam because my type of computer can be fix there (International warranty). Finally they said, they need to see the bill when I bought the computer, otherwise they not fix it or have to be charge to fix it.But the most important thing is I lost my bill. So they said they not take responsible and not fix it ! Turn off computer> Press the OKR button> BIOS If the BIOS ain't broken, don't try to fix it. In other words, if your computer works fine and you are able to access the BIOS, LEAVE IT ALONE and don't try downloading one from Lenovo's website.

I am having some problems with the battery on my Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13.  I have searched the forum to find a mountain of topics with problems similar but not quite the same.  I have also tried a lot of the suggestions to resolve the issue but none have worked so I guess i have to start my own thread. My Lenovo has been working fine (well has fine as could be expected with these machines) up until last week.   I had been using the machine in work without issue and put it into the car (fully charged) to take home.   When i went to use it again a couple of days ago I plugged in the charger as normal and turned it on, only to find it completely dead.   The power machine didnt turn on and the power button didnt illuminate.   My initial feeling was that i may have accidently turned the machine on while in the car and this had drained the battery.   I also thought that perhaps the power supply was faulty so I bought a new one. When i tried the new power supply it was the same result as the original, (not turning on and no illumination on the power button).    I went back to the original power supply, this time there was a fan noise (although the machine did not turn on), and the battery indicator flashed repeatedly orange (which i believe means the battery is below 5% and needs charging.   So i left the oringal power supply plugged in overnight to charge.   Next morning the battery indicator was still flashing repeate... I have had my Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13 for a year and 2 months now. When I plugged it in yesterday afternoon the charger did not connect - I tired three different plug sockets and had no luck. I am wondering whether this is just general wear and tear, my latop and charger travel with my everyday to uni. They are constantly being plugged in and out or in my bag. I do not have a case for the laptop.  Can anybody help me? Has anyone else had a similar problem? Will I need to just buy a new charger or seek out professional help to fix charger port?  Thanks!!

Answer:HELP - Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13 charger will not connect!!!

fionaroberts23, Welcome to Lenovo Forums! Thank you for taking time to post your inquiry.  I can see that you are having issues on the AC adapter. If you have plugged the AC adapter (charger) on the Yoga 13 and the computer is not charging there are 2 things that we need to check. 1. possible that the AC adapter (Lenovo 65W AC Adapter(UL-SDC))is busted 2. possible that the Battery Pack is busted 3. try a different wall outlet that is not connected on a surge protector. You can also check if your warranty covers the battery. You can check your warranty information here click hereYour Battery specification is this Lenovo 65W AC Adapter(UL-SDC) click here You can contact Lenovo UK at click here I hope I have provide you the information you need

I'm very disappointed from Lenovo for producing Laptop without complete recovery solution. I mistakely formated the hard drive of Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13, so I lost the recovery, so I called Contact Centre and they pointed me to Jumbo Electronics Company in Abu Dhabi of which are aotherized to do services for Lenovo. I went to them to save time, and get my laptop back to the initial state of which I bought, instead of getting the original state of how I bought the laptop which was:1. Windows 8.1 Single Language.2. All Drivers are Installed.3. At Start-Up, I should be getting to put in my sync account while it's preparing windows for first use. I got the following:1. Windows 8 Single Language installed. (Not 8.1)2. Drivers are installed.3. Recovery is supposed to be back.4. Local User Account "Lenovo" was created. OK, Skip it, it's fine. I thought about trying to do recovery to make sure of the recovery working before I do back up of it, here is what I got:1. Windows 8 Single Language Installed (Not 8.1)2. Not all drivers are installed (For ex. Wireless Driver which is very important for this laptop since no LAN no other connection except wireless) So I thought they gave me the non-original recovery because of the missing drivers which was not believable to me.I contacted "Service Centre for IdeaPad Within UAE" ended up telling me that that was the original copy of the Recovery and Yes, it does not Install the Wireless Drivers! My laptop, as stated in the title, is making random noises. I have no idea what the source of the noise is. It is random, with no clear pattern. It sounds like a low pitched "Duh" sound. It happens randomly, such when I was typing a document or browsing the internet. It was going on for quite a while in the past day. It seems to have disappeared for the time being, but I have no idea what was causing it. Has anybody experienced this before or know what the source is? Thanks

Hello, my windows 8 has planted , it unbootable andit is impossible to do a system restore.I'd like to get to the bios to boot in safe mode . How to get to bios . I already try (FN + F2) or + volume / power button. nothing on. please help me. thxMy model: 20187

Answer:Enter Bios Lenovo Ideapad YOGA 11

Hi coucoune1633 ,

Welcome to the Lenovo Community.

To enter the BIOS , turn off the pc and use the Novo key (item1 page12) to power on .
Novo menu would appear offering BIOS set up (for changing boot options etc. )
System recovery option from one key recovery initial back up would delete everything and restore to factory defaults.

About booting to safe mode:
Since starting with Windows 8 and up , usual F8 on boot is deeply embedded on the recovery making it hard to access.

If Windows cannot boot to a viable stage for to access advance recovery menu :

1. Shift + F8 works on some system , do it at same time you see the lenovo splash screen repeatedly.

2. Forcing recovery mode on windows 8 : turn on then suddenly turn off pressing the power button , then on and off again for 2-3 attempts , Turn on and see if recovery screen would show up for the advance option.

3. Some system have F11 / F12 on BIOS to launch the recovery / boot option

4. Using a bootable media ( USB rescue image often useful for repair / back up  , using Windows media creation tool  )
If Windows 8/10 does not start: (using the command line)
How to boot into Safe Mode from the Windows 8/10 installation media or recovery USB flash drive.

Hello I live in Finland and I have read previously that these Windows 8 product keys are now linked somehow with motherboard´s BIOS systems, so we actually don´t need to know our product codes anymore. Well, in some cases we do need to know them. My Windows asked me once if I want to install a new version to get some new features, the same procedure can be launched by going to your Control panel, selecting System and selecting the top option where it says you could update to a new version to unlock new features. This requires a 25-digit Windows 8 product key. Which we Yoga 13 owners do not have, as it is somewhere in the BIOS, hidden from us. How can I give my product key to this field if I do not know it? 1. Called to Microsoft I tried contacting Microsoft Finland about this, but their automatic phone service stated it was none of their concern as it is a pre-installed system, and therefore I need to contact Lenovo straight. I tried to get a person to talk to, but I got none. Always an automatic service. I called to their switch (is this the right word?) to ask if I could get a person to talk to, but the number she forwarded me to always got to an automatic robot, again. 2. Lenovo Customer support Well, Lenovo directs customers to this forum from their customer service web page, so I hope some Lenovo employee can finally answer this question, please. I value customer service, and getting an answer from another forum using custom... Read more

Hi guys, Today my yoga ideapad 13 stopped working after I accidentally dropped a small lamp onto the edge of the laptop (that didn't even make contact with the screen or the keyboard). Once the contact was made, the pc screen completely died and the sound (if I recall correctly) was gone too. However, the computer was still 'on' since the LED light for the power was still lit up. I tried to restart the pc by pressing the power button for 20 seconds and pressing it again but the screen is still black and nothing works besides the power button LED. Even when I press caps lock, the caps lock LED is not lit up. Are there any solutions to this? Unfortunately, I am in a different country atm and I don't think getting it checked by Lenovo is a viable option for at least a month and I had some important work saved on the PC. Edit: This is the old yoga ideapad 13 (I believe I purchased it a year and a half ago now...)Thanks guys.

I was just running my laptop and trying to figure out an unknown USB issue with an external CD drive that I have which I lost the power cord to and was trying to find if I had a replacement. When I tried one power cord, the computer immediately shut down and won't turn back on. I'm no expert on voltages and such, but I'm fairly sure I either just put too much power into the computer or shot the battery. The power source that I plugged into my CD drive had an output of 12V 800mA, and again, I'm not expert with power output, so if that's way too much to plug into a computer (or rather into a device that's plugged into my computer), I would've never guessed.Any help from someone out there who's smarter than me? Will I need an entire new battery or just need to let it sit for a day? What can I do to make sure the least harmful scenario occurs? Also, a side note, there is nothing externally wrong with it. It didn't make any noises, it didn't heat up, it didn't shock or anything like that, just shut off.

Hi, I have this problem: I didnt use my Lenovo ideapad yoga 13 for over a week and when i did it didnt turn on so I put the charger because I thought it was it had no battery, but then I notice that the port where you charge it was broken, (i don't know if that's the proper name of the piece). That piece, at least externally, it's like a three side yellow square, in the center has to tiny squares made of a bright material and has four little sticks of the same material beside the tiny bright square. Of the four tiny sticks of the right side, one it's blend, and the other three are broken in the peak of the sticks. Also, the superior part of the yellow square it's broken, it's still there but it's broken. The charger it's broken too, but it was working perfectly until the charger port broke.  I have many questions about this: Can it be fixed? How badly it is damage? Can I buy the pice? Where? How much it could cost? Is it too complicated to fix? If I cannot fix it, there's anyway I can get back all the documents inside the laptop? Also I bought the computer in March, I don't really know how it broke, because when I last use it it was working perfectly, can I ask for the waranty? There's something else you can tell me to help me? Please, help me. There I had all the applications to college next year. I'm desesperate too fixed it.  Note: I live in Venezuela and I know it can be a hard to find the piece here, but I can order it from online or ask someone ... Read more

Answer:The charger port of my Lenovo ideapad yoga 13 broke

I found a replacement for the charger port on Amazon and it seemed reasnably simple to replace.  However, upon replacement I found that the break resulted in shorting out the entire motherboard.  That cost $700 to replace but I was fortunate in that I purchased a Square warranty that covered the cost.

Unfortunately my Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 Laptop has gone faulty just a month outside my two year warranty.  After being inspected this has come back as being customer fault as it is the centre pin in the power connector that has been bent that has caused the issue.  However Feel that this is a very poor design and that for an item at this price point that it is not fit for purpose.  Also when I was speaking to a work friend they had bought the same item only a few months before me and had the exact same fault.  I have since done done a small search and seen this same issue has been raised on a few forums over the last few years.   I was was hoping to get a view on how common this was and if you have been able to resolve.  If anyone else has had this issue please can you let me know and also how long you had the item before the issue began.  Many thanks

Hi there, I wonder if anyone could give me an advice.Yesterday my Yoga 13 screen suddenly started to black out for something like 5 minutes until it went off completely (just the screen).I was listening to music and just browsing normally, not using any kind of heavy program. As the computer was still working (as the music continued to play) I got a torch and faced towards the screen and then I could see that everything was still there! It seems that just the backlight is not working.I then plugged the pc to my TV with an hdmi cable and I have been able to use it this way.Does anyone have any advice on what should I do? The computer is not covered by warranty anymore and I really don't want to expend heaps of money to fix it :/ Is there any chance that it is just the screen backlight that is not well plugged?Cheers to everyone that can give me some light! Will

Answer:Lenovo Yoga Ideapad 13 - Screen blacked off but pc is still working

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Have you tried going into the BIOS Setup to see how the display is there?  If the problem occurs in the BIOS Setup then that is a good indicator that the problem is hardware related.

Will the back light come on if you move the LCD lid to a different angle?   If it does, the problem could be a bad video cable or a cable connection is not fully seated.

I have included a link below to your model's Hardware Maintenance Manual.  The manual will explain how to disassemble your laptop so you may check the cable connections.

Sometimes when the CPU is working, like compiling code, it could happen that the fan starts working, otherwise they are off. But the Yoga 2 13, the fan is working all the time? Why Lenovo?I assume that if there is no software solution for it, it might be the usage of wrong hardware or maybe the hardware architecture is wrong, why the fan is always on. @LenovoCome on, please fix it or tell us the reason!

So I went to the software developers website in hope that they might be able to help me. I noticed a lot of features that weren't in the one I got. There was no download link, so I decided to look in Lenovo Support. There wasn't anything there, so now I'm here at the forum, in hope that someone could provide with me a way to update the motion control or provide with me a link to a updated version. Answer:Is it ok to always have earbuds/headphones connected to my lenovo ideapad yoga 11s?

hi ramiro0001,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Regarding your questions:
1. If you keep the laptop in a desk and don't move it around then yeah, it's fine having the earbuds/headphones connected all the time (i use this setup too but instead of headphones, I use an external speaker).

2. Same as the above, if you use the laptop on a desk and don't move it around then yes, you can always keep it plugged-in but I recommend you enable Conservation Mode (for Win8.1) or Optimized Battery Health (for WIn8.0) to limit the battery charge to 60%. This feature will prolong the battery life by not overcharging it and will route the power to the AC adapter. This is also my setup at home but I usually unplug the AC adapter from the outlet after I shutdown the machine.

Dear Lenovo community, since a few days ago, i'm having a very complicated issue to resolve from my side, even with i have a bast experience about PCs.

The Yoga Pad HDMI's output socket is not working propertly, showing as you may see on the following picture. I tried with different HDMI cables, different monitors and TVs and all of them are doing the same, showing those green pixels everywhere:

Link to image

Also sometimes, the output socket is not working directly, and some times, it's just a black screen. I tried changing Hz setting and, one monitor was correctly working on 30Hz and duplicated screen, so no green dots, but no the other options.

If it's not the cable and it's not the monitor/TV/screen, should be the video card of the PC?.

Regards,

Hello, I would like to know if it would be possible to install Yoga 2 Pro keyboard on Yoga 13 machine? It looks to be the same size and layout, so I am wondering if it work if I switched them. Thanks in advance for help.

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro Keyboard on Yoga 13

I would liketo know the same thing. the Yoga 13 has a light on the caps lock key so there is potentially back light voltage. The key boards look identical. If they are interchangeable how would the Fn keyboard light switch be programmed? I love my Yoga. I just added an 8 gig Ram stick and a 240 GB hard drive. Keyboard replacement is a piece of cake with an eyephone glass repair tool kit.

Hi,One day my laptop (lenovo ideapad yoga 13) stopped working. Every time I turned it on I got a notice that there is no SSD (don't remember the exact notice). So I got a new SSD, but the computer still doesn't recognize the drive (the bios has: hard drive - not detected). The laptop has an additional slot for a SSD, so I tried using the other one instead (tried every variation of drives in slots.... well, except of no drive in both slots, but I'm sure that win't work....)When I insert a bootable usb with ubuntu installation on it, it starts fine, only can't install the OS because there is no disk space.I'm sort of lost with this....Is there anything I'm missing? Is there anything I need to do in order that the computer will recognize the SSD? When repairing another computer (with a HDD) all I did is insert the new one, so I figured it's the same here. Thanks a lot!!!!!p.s - while trying to figure out the problem, I saw a small switch (with 2 states, that cannot be accessed without opening up the laptop) next to the SSD slot. I thought it might have something to do with that, so I played with it a little. Well, it didn't work, and now I don't remember where it started out. I'd also like to know what's that switch, and also where does it have to be.

I don't really want to talk about what happened, but my Lenovo Yoga 11RT is at the bottom of Lake Michigan - That is all you need to know.
So, I am looking to replace it with either a Lenovo Ideapad Lynx or a Surface RT.
The Lynx is 11.6" - 64gb - Windows 8
Surface is 10" - 32gb - Windows RT
Both can be bought for 349.00
I like that the Surface has the "click on" keyboards, a full size USB port, and the general build quality.
I like the larger screen of the Lynx, and that is has full Windows 8. - Also seems to be a little snappier.
Hellllp me choose.

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Lynx Vs. Microsoft Surface RT. (My yoga went swimming)

What do you use your tablet for? Is there anything that you do that would benefit from having Windows 8 as opposed to RT? Price wise it's a close call. More space on the Lenovo, but usb and sd on the Surface. Guess you can't go wrong either way.

My Yoga 500 ideapad totally loses it when I plug it into power. The CPU slows down imidiately and runs at 100% usage every time I make an action (opens Chrome takes like 30 seconds). In Speccy, I can see, that the CPU runs at a speed of approx. 500 Mhz (Core speed). If I unplug the laptop, the speed goes up to like 1,9 Ghz when I opens chrome (chrome opens instantly) and CPU usage maxes out at 40% or so. I can now close Chrome, plug in the laptop once again, and if I open chrome now,it maxes out at 500 Mhz speed with 100% CPU usage. I have just completely reinstalled windows (10, 64 bit) hoping that this would solve the problem. But it haven'tI have downloaded ALL the drivers and software possible from Lenovos own support page for my laptop, I have ran numerous tests from Lenovo, and other thirdparty applications, no one in which finds any problems. What should I do? I have done everything in my power to try and fix this problem. I have tried every possibly advanced power options, I have even changed the "when plugged in" power options to match the "on battery" ones, but without any change in performance. I cannot figure out, if this is a problem with my power supply? Or the CPU itself? And no tests suggests any problems...  Anyone able to help me out with troubleshooting? I?ve got my Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 in Russia with Windows 8 Single Language Edition on it.I?ve set up three keyboard layouts, those are German, Russian and English. Both the on-screen keyboard and handwriting recognition work for English and Russian. However, with German I don?t have the handwriting recognition as an option. How could I activate it or install it? Should I buy Windows 8 Pro Pack for it or does this restriction have to do with something else?If it?s all about the Windows SL license I would rather prefer to have the recognition of German handwriting instead of English.

Answer:Language support for the recognition of handwriting on Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13

Hi eugrus,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

You may need to add a German language pack and then you will see the Language settings to personalize handwriting recognition. Language packs are available for computers that are running Windows 8. The language packs are installed from the language control panel on the Yoga 13. Follow the steps in the link below:

How to install the Language pack.

Note: If you are facing issues with Windows SL license to download the Language pack in Windows 8, you may need to get Windows 8 Pro, you may also follow the steps to choose your required language in the ?Handwriting Option?:

Please hold the (Windows key + C) to go to the Charms bar.
On the Charms bar please click on Search.
Please select Settings under Search option and type ?Language?.
Now please click on ?Language? and click on ?Input method and Handwriting"
You can add your required language now.
You can personalize the Handwriting option by clicking on ?Personalize hand writing recognition?.

Hope this Helps.

Do post us back if the issue still persists.

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar

my Yoga 13 was working fine until yesterday it gave me weird static screen and I had to turn it off. when I tried turning it back on again i would only get the Lenovo logo at the beginning for a few seconds before it starts up with the static screen again. here's a picture of it.sometimes it wouldn't even start up at all and it would shut down immediately.   however one rare occasion It sent me to trouble shooting and I got to log on to windows again but that only lasted for a minute before I had the static noise screen again.   what could be wrong with it? Is it a hardware problem? please help!!

It looks like I may have left my Yoga 11 out in the hot car for too long. I got home and turned it on (unplugged, not charging), only to have it fail to startup properly (only a black screen, not the usual Lenovo logo). I pushed the power button for 20s and all lights went off. This I expected. What follows, I did not. Noticing how hot the computer was (hot to the touch), I plugged it in and let it sit until it cooled down a bit. The light that normally shows the battery is charging did not turn on - this has not changed. I can no longer turn on the computer either. Has anyone else had this problem? Did something critical in the interior melt, perhaps? I'm hoping I don't have to replace this unit. Can Lenovo support tell me what the policies are on replacing a machine like this?

Looking for new keyboard for Lenovo ideapad 100 15 to replace German qwertz.  US English would be fine, or Portuguese.  On Ebay there are several for the flex 15 and another model (g500 I think).  Would these fit ?  Any and all help would be appreciated.  There are currently no keyboards listed for the ideapad 100.

The P/N on the keyboards are different. They look the same, but I think there may be minor differences that won't allow them to fit.

Device specifications: Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13Model Name: 20175OS: Windows 8 x 64128 GB Hard Drive3rd Generation Intel Core i5-3317u (1.70 GHZ) The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 came pre-installed with Windows 8.  It was purchased from a Best Buy retail outlet nearly 11 months ago.  Warranty expires on 12/30/2013. Three days ago, I downloaded the update for Windows 8.1.  The machine stated that upon restarting, the Windows 8.1 update will be configured.  After that message was displayed, the machine began to go to the Boot Menu upon startup.  The menu said something along the lines of "Boot device not found.  Please insert Boot device." Initially I was able to power off the machine from this point and try again 2-3 times before the Boot device was conveniently found (hmmm) and I was able to see Windows 8 on the screen and go right to the desktop.  However now that doesn't happen.  The machine either goes to the "Boot device" menu after starting up with the Lenovo display and "press F2 for setup" or "press F12 for boot menu" options.   If I don't enter setup, the following is displayed: "default boot device missing or boot failed. Insert recorvery media and hit any key then select Boot Manager to choose a new boot device or to boot recovery media."  If I press enter, the Boot Manager/Boot Option Menu appaears.  There are no options displayed.  At that point all I can do is power off. I have ... So before the other day, when I did a Windows 10 update, my browsers were running smoothly. I disabled the meta refresh for Edge, and I was actually starting to like it. Now after the update it seems that every window I open in Edge, Firefox, and Chrome takes forever to load and doesn't respond half the time. Sometimes the browser just crash and can't be opened at all unless I restart. My drivers say they're all up to date. Anyone else having this problem? Anyone know a fix or what to check? (Oh, and it's not my internet connection. My windows desktop, my surface, and my Windows phone as well as my partners iPhone and MacBook are all running just fine.)

Hello everyone Got my Yoga 13 back in mid December, and so far I have been really happy with it.However, just recently I noticed a critical problem; When the lid is closed, and the power button is pressed, the laptop wakes itself up. Actually once mine woke up when I might have accidentally pressed the power button when placing it inside the sleeve bag. It stayed in my bag for a good 2 hours and heated the hell out of everything (85 Celsius!!), even some color off of the sleeve burned into the side of the yoga (not too noticeable, didn't really care about it). It survived however, no internal damages or performance reduction as I have thoroughly tested everything. So is this suppose to happen? My brother has a Sony VAIO which is close to 3 years old and has Windows 7 on it, and it also has the power button on the outside inside the round hinges. When I press the power button while lid is closed, it doesn't wake up. How come the Yoga wakes up when the power button is pressed during lid closed? Or do I just have a bad unit? Thank you.

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13 - Wakes up when lid is closed when power button is pressed

Bump! Can anyone atleast try this on their yoga? Also, back at the end of December I also noticed another thing; The charging light (the light which comes on when you plugin the charger) is on all the time regardless of whether the charger is plugged in or not. Someone please help me out.

Does the external keyboard produce the same problem? Have you tried to boot into safe mode?
Also, Reseating the Connections may help or cleaning the keyboard itself.

Hello,  I recently got myself a LENOVO ideapad 310, like just about close to less than a month ago and have faced several issues.  My cursor will start to become pixelated sometimes and become the normal cursor again, this has happened since the very beginning, but I chose to ignore it as it does not really affect much of my experience using this notebook.  It was up until just now, when I decided to play a game of League of Legends (Its not very graphic intensive), that my keyboard suddenly malfunctioned in the middle of it. Not knowing what is the problem, I couldn't quit the game either as the game menu can only be accessed via the Esc key. The surface suddenly became quite hot and I forcefully turned off my laptop as I always believed that restarting your computer is always a solution.  After the ideapad turned off, I couldn't turn it on for quite awhile, until I decided to hold the power button while it's off. It then turned on but it could not load past the LENOVO logo screen with the small circle at the bottom. After waiting for a good 30 minutes or so, I decided to turn it off once again and use the NOVO button. All while doing that, I had turned on a fan and blew at my laptop at max speed hoping it would cool down.  After using the NOVO button and a few turn ons and offs, the laptop started working normally again, and here I am posting on the forums.  There is no issue now, it's working perfectly fine. I hav... Read more

Answer:lenovo ideapad z 570 keyboard problem

Hi jsaab, new to forum but thought I'd give my thoughts as I had a Y570. Could do with knowing which buttons malfunction and in which apps. It could be phyiscal ware,  such as the gamer keys WASD or the direction keys. It could be a temperature problem with malfunction happening after a certain uptime. If all keys feel OK and the same to type with then possibly a software problem. Try typing all keys into notepad and see if all produce correct alph-numerical characters. But do need to know which keys or key combos and in which apps
