Preferred Solution: Application Error: Abnormal Program Termination

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi. Don't know if anyone can help me with this. (i hope i have posted this in the right forum, i am told this problem is probably a windows error) I have spoken with the software salesman/developer? and he said this is the first time this error has ever happened with their software. After trying all sorts of things like turning off antivirus, anti malware and even my graphics card it still wont work. I probably should mention that the Programs will both run in safemode but not in normal bootup?? I also tried stopping all startup programs in msconfig as an experiment but that didnt work. They told me it is probably a registry problem and advised i try a registry cleaner but I have read advice on this site in the past warning against using such things so i thought i would see if one of you might have a better idea???

The software I am trying to run is called exact roofing. http://www.exactroofing.com/index_er.html
It runs on our other computer fine.

Please any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Answer:Abnormal Program termination error

You mention two programs, I see a link to only one.

What version of Exact Roofing are you trying to install?

The 3.0 Demo license is only good for 7 days.

I just downloaded/installed this program with no problems.

If you have a licensed version...you probably need to take that up with the software developers.

Hey,

Just putting the finishing touches on my sister's computer. Basically I doubled her RAM and upgraded her to Win2K, from WinME. Deleted some old software, fixed a couple of system errors. It had a trojan which was removed, some minor spyware/malware, but nothing major. However, keep getting two errors on re-boot:

1 - Abnorminal Program Termination...and it is generating from the Verizon Online/mad.exe folder...and also
2 - a Resolution assistant generating from the Dell Resolution Assistant/mad.exe folder

And, just recently, Windows Update keeps wanting me to download updates every time I reboot.

Followed the instructions on all scan software mentioned, and my log is below. If you could tell me if anything is left over that I should fix or a way to fix those two problems I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
PJ

I have purchased an HP officejet 5610 all-in-one, installed it, So far no problem. Scanned a picture using the icon on the desktop no problem from the administrator side..So i log off and switch users to test a scan on the other side... i don't recall if i scanned a picture from the icon on my desktop first or not, but i did decide to scan a picture by using the buttons on the printer itself. Rushing myself i pressed scan twice and it sent it to wordpad where it was saved too, mistake i think. now the scanned pic is no where to be found?? Now when i click on the icon on the users side it says Runtime Error blah blah blah, but the funny thing is (but not) is when i click on the icon on the Administrator side it's fine??? So maybe if i can locate this saved pic in my wordpad?? i will have gotten rid of this Runtime error?? Any suggestions are welcomed.. I know it's long but i had to try and explain my situation. Thanks again

Answer:Runtime Error (abnormal program termination)

Use the program supplied to scan. When you go to save choose save as,
This should give you an indication where the file was saved.

I installed a shareware program (rmconverter) that wanted me to update my WMP runtime library from WMP8 to 9. The program didn't work, so I uninstalled it, but now another favorite app Zinf won't load, siting runtime errors - abnormal program termination.

Anybody got a clue how to fix this? I've tried reverting to older registries, no fix there. Thanks

Answer:C++ runtime error - Abnormal program termination

It is possible that they shared .dll for other files and those have been deleted. I would recommend uninstalling then reinstalling the Zinf app to see if it fixes this problem.

When you say "I've tried reverting to older registries, no fix there" do you mean a system restore?

Unfortunately some programs are not covered under a restore, so it may be lost anyhow.

I received an e-mail today with an attachment. Usually I have no problem. However, this time the message showed up and when I clicked on the attach icon it brought up the attachment and then, almost immediately, a big box showed up in the center. It said: Microsoft Visual C++Runtime Library at the top. Below that it said: Runtime Error! Program: C\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\WINWORD.EXE abnormal program termination with OK in a square under it.

and I then could not see the attachment.

I tried to get the attachment three times restarting my computer one of the times. I even sent myself an e-mail with an attachment from my commercial e-mail address and got the same problem.

Help please. I am in the middle of convention planning and need to get attachments. I use Thunderbird for my primary e-mail, and Windows XP.

Thanks in advance.

Answer:problem with error message abnormal program termination

Hello Maussie,

After reading your thread here:

At what point are you getting that message? What did Ewido fix for you, by any chance did you save those scan results?

Click Start>Run and type in sfc /scannow (there is a space between sfc and /) and let it scan for missing/corrupt files. You may need your Windows XP Install disc so have it handy.

Let's try an online scanner:

Please run an online scan at http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htm *Requires Internet Explorer.
Make sure you click the "Free Online Virus Scan" in the upper right hand corner of the page under the Free use Activescan header. We do NOT want the default spyXposer scan. Click on the Scan your PC button & a 'pop up' window shall appear. * ensure that your pop up blocker doesn't block it
Click On 'Scan Now'
Enter your e-mail address & click 'Scan Now' ...begins downloading Panda's ActiveX controls.- 8MB
Begin the scan by selecting My Computer
* You needn't remain online while it's doing the scan but you have to re-connect after it has finished to see the report.
If it finds any malware, it will offer you a report. Click on see report
Then click Save report
Post the contents of the report in your next reply along with a new HijackThis log.
* Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan

Hi,
I have a dell inspiron 5100 laptop.
The problem I'm currently having is that I keep
getting this pop up message from Microsoft Visual C++
Runtime Library, saying this:

Runtime Error!

Program: C:\WINDOWS\tempdl\upgrade.exe

abnormal program termination

This pop up shows up in every 30 seconds or so, so
it's really annoying.

Can anybody help me on how to get rid of this pop up
error
message??
Do u think it a virus infection possibility?

Thanks b4!

Answer:Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error POP UP (abnormal program termination)

Sounds like a malware problem.

Please run the steps below.

- Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

- Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
Also to get you started and to reduce the size of your HJT log. Do the following:

Also look in Add/Remove programs for Internet2 Optimizer and uninstall if found.
After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem, boot into normal mode and make sure you follow these directions:
- Download HijackThis 1.99.1

- Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

- Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

- Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

- Run HijackThis and save your log file.

- Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).

This started about a 6 weeks ago on the office manager's computer. She has complained to me, so I finally had the opportunity to go and take a look at the computer myself. Here's what is happening: when she goes to log in to a specific site (it is the multiple listing service for our area) she gets this message after entering her log in and passwird and clicking "log in":Microsoft Visual C++ Debug LibraryDebug Error!Program: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\explore.exeabnormal program termination(Press Retry to debug the application)[color=#3333FF]When you press any option, retry, cancel, or ignore IE just shuts down. I asked her if this happens with any other website and she said yes, on occasion. She said she could be working away online and it will suddenly happen. But this particular website she has not been able to log in to for about 6 weeks. I asked if this happened after she did any in particular, like new software or anything and she said no. I don't know about that.Today I downloaded and ran Ad Aware and Spybot S & D. I was following the steps for Preparation to post a HiJack this log. I got to the Panda scan before we had to close the office.overall she is a safe "surfer". Uses the computer for work purposes, not "dangerous" surfing. Answer:abnormal program termination

Ensure that there are no real-time protection tools blocking it, including anti-virus, anti-malware, anti-spyware etc.Try disabling all of these tools and check if it works then.also try going to the windows update site in internet explorer, which can be found at http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdat...t.aspx?ln=en-usIt will check to see if you have the latest update software and then if you do you will be prompted to select an option for updating - either normal or custom i think it is (I'm on linux atm), select the bottom option. It will then find any updates, you will need to go through each category and check each box... then select review and install updates (its a text link) and you may be asked to install IE 7 or 8 if your a FF user simply click deny or no on the license agreement.Let me know how you get on after that. (don't forget to reboot)

Hello! I am getting the following error message on two separate machines when I try to open my Ford Service Manual.
It is published by Technical Services Publications, who I cannot find on the 'net yet.
The program it is using is called: tsobrowser.exe
I am running WINXP SP2 on both machines, and everything i've got is updated to the max. I run full system virus scans daily on both, and I ran an extra full system scan, as well as Disk Doctor, Windoctor, and disk cleanup, all Norton Utilities. I've also optimized the Hard Disks. launcher.exe (for Dell Documentation and Support Launcher)

It all started after my computer got the latest batch of updates (which included IE8). I was trying to connect a new modem. There was a Verizon disk involved as well. A day or two before the problem first arose, I would turn on the computer, click Firefox, and wait forever because the program wouldn't open.

I've tried everything I've read up on in threads of people with similar problems:

-Running a virus/spyware scan. I've run Norton and Dell several times and it usually doesn't turn up anything, and when it does (the last few times it says it's detected viruses/trojans/cookies much after I scanned) they get taken care of, I restart my system, and nothing changes.

-Restoring my system to a previous time when I didn't have this problem. I go through all the motions and restart my computer, but when it starts up again, it tells me t... Read more

I tried to use Photosmart Essentials to scan the other day and recieved the following visual c++ runtime error message:

Runtime error

Program:C:\Program Files (86x)\HP\Photosmart Essentials\HP_IZE.exe

abnormal program termination

I used this program just the week before and it was fine. I think the only thing that I've done to the computer since then was to get rid of AVG free and install Microsoft Security Essentials. Could that have caused this problem?

Whenever I use my Word 2002 program, if I take more than just a few minutes on a document, it terminates and saves my doc as "normal". The only way to save my doc intact is to click "save" every few minutes before closing. Any ideas on this problem? Thanks!

Answer:Abnormal termination in Word

Sounds like you might have a macro virus (might be changing/affecting the Normal template). Check the download section of the microsoft.com site to make sure that you've got the latest updates/patches installed. There were some security issues addressed in the latest patches. Also, make sure you've got your antivirus software updated as well.

If you find that you have to update any of the above, make sure you restart your computer, then trash the Normal template (in the Office folder section), before launching the application program. That way, Office will create a new, "clean" Normal template.

AND/OR

Check your Preference settings. Look for AutoSave (backup feature, I think under the Save tab), because it may be set to run every few minutes. You can change this setting.

Hi to the forum, I am new to this site and wonder if anyone else has my problem and also advice how to fix it ? I have a new replacement HP computer with Vista Home premium and have installed a game called immortal cities Children of the Nile on it, and each time I try to run it I get the message in a box :- Microsoft visual c++ runtime library :- X runtime error, programme C:\programme files\immortal cities\cotn.exe. :- Abnormal programme termination . this is what I get every time I try to play the game and a spinning disc replaces the curser and I am unable to eject the play disc unless I reboot my machine. I know this game is compatable with Vista home premium as my previous HP computer ran it no problem, the only thing I can think of which is obvious is that the game needs Active X 9 to run the programme and my replacement machine (the previous one died) had Active X 10 pre-installed and I am not sure if this could create a problem I have tried unstalling the game 3 or 4 times and re-installing it to no effect can anyone help me please ?

Recently, popups informing me of either DCOM server launcher terminating unexpectedly or Plug and play terminating unexpectedly started to show up every 30 minutes - 1 hour on average. Soon after, my computer would reboot automatically. Now, my computer is significantly slower and often freezes, which I have to force shut down.
I have run several programs scanning for viruses. I have found several using Mbam and stopzilla, and successfully removed them. However, the problem persisted. I read on here about Mbar and tried to scan, but the computer shuts down before the scan could finish. Mbar did find 1 problem, but since the computer shuts down soon after it finds it, I am unable to fix it. It is rpcss.dll that is infected, but it is an important system process.
Also, there are several control panel options that I can not open. For example, I can not open the uninstall program window. When I click on it, nothing happens.
What can I do to fix these problems?
Thanks

Ok, so I just bought a TV tuner card for my PC tonight, and got it all hooked up nicely and I really like it. The thing is, I used to have a TV in my room, and it really helped me go to sleep. I would just set the sleep timer on the TV to turn the TV off sometime in the middle of the night. I would like to kinda do the same thing with my TV on my PC. I'm trying to figure out a way to end the program at a scheduled time (say, 3:30AM), so that program is terminated, turning the sound off and letting the power saver monitor setting to kick on (turning the monitor off). Is there any way I can do this in XP, or is there a program or script that I can download or buy that would let me do this? Thanks for any insight.

This problem has been persisting for the past month. And I think I have narrowed it down to a software issue rather then a hardware issue. I can be connected to both LAN and WAN and both will give out.

Odd enough upon a fresh restart the problem is gone, for about 4+ hours and then no working. Another characteristic of the problem is that my connection whether wired or not seems to not recognize its been disconnected and does not show as local network only or completely disconnected, and web based applications such as MSN will stay "connected", except for the fact on other peoples computers I am disconnected and when I try send out going messages it comes up with a "this message hasnt been sent blah blah blah".

So yeah. Right now its more of an inconvenience then anything.

I have AVG, Windows Vista Ultimate, CC-cleaner, Avast. All currently up to date...

I will keep you updated as this happens, If you need any logs or anything let me know and I will gladly relay that information.

1. Go to Start and click Run
2. Type "dxdiag" and click OK
3. Click the Save ALL Information

Hi all,

I'm having a rather strange issue that I haven't been able to trace, mostly because although the error itself makes sense to me, I have no idea what it means.

I'm using Windows XP pro, 32 bit with service pack 3 on an HP 8510W notebook. Recently I noticed that every time I closed a program, or a program exited properly, I received an error that looked something like this.

notepad.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x00bb1f3e" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program

iexplore.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x03051f3e" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program

taskmgr.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x009c1f3e" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program
And so on, with everything from Reaper to firefox to Task Manager. I've also noticed two other things, which are:
A. this error never occurs if I manually end the task from within task manager or tskill, only when the program legitimately exits.
B. The first hex value always changes, but the second value, the memory being referenced, always stays the same.

This windows install has had some issues in the past anyway, and I'm two steps from installing windows 7 on this thing as it is. The on... Read more

I have a Y700-34ISH Desktop (ideacentre) - Type 90DF00B2MW, and the "Driver and Installation Application" program is installed. When I clicked on the driver menu it showed a bunch of items, which I went ahead and installed. It asked me to restart the PC, but after I did the items are still showing.

1. What is happening?
2. What are the benefits of this program?
3. Is it ok to uninstall it if I don't want those benefits?

EDIT: It seems like this program "updated" several drivers to older versions. At least that happened with Geforce, and I also had to reassign my headset as the preferred output in the sound settings.

Confusing stuff like this doesn't make one happy after spending $1500 on a new PC.

Vista Ultimate x86 with current updates. At the end of a day everything was OK. The next day I get the C++ Runtime Library error (...program requested termination in an unusual way) caused by an element of a software that I connect to wireless internet with. (OrangeBS, module: ...\connectivity\CoreCom\CoreCom.exe).
I restored the system twice, because the first didn't work (to previous day and to 2days back), uninstalled the software (Revo Uninstaller), cleaned up remains from registry manually, discarded old folders from C:\Program Files, reinstalled software (downloaded via a different computer). I also reinstalled the MS Visual C++. No use.
Than, sfc /scannow, which returned some errors that couldn't be fixed automatically.
Is there a way to fix registry without reinstalling the OS? (other than going back 'till I ran out of restore points)

I hope someone can help me with this issue. I have an Asus G74S which I have sent back twice due to BSOD issues. The first time Asus replaced a memory stick and the system board. The second time they replaced the CPU. Now i get a message saying that the remote procedure call has had an error and to save my work as it will restart my pc in 60 seconds. I did some browsing and found that this can be caused by MSBlast worm so tried the suggestions posted to get rid of it. I changed the action taken when the RPC fails so that my pc doesnt restart and i ran Symantics MSBlast worm removal tool but it said i did not have the worm.

My pc is being really slow, it wont connect to the internet, occasionally it causes my task bar to sorta blot out (like when a process fails over another window and leave a trail behind when u move it.).

At the moment i am on my notebook trying to find a solution. Since i cant connect to the internet i am using a USB memory stick to transfer files i need to my pc. This is proving to be difficult because it doesnt always let me connect it.

I hope someone can help me, it would be extremely appreciated.

I guess above says it all.

I was able to remove lots of infected files and so on because of my hero, the TwinHeadedEagle.
I used the last time's experience on this case but it is a bit different as the AdWare can only detect the reg that keeps my words from the game or the game's foroum.

I wasnt sure where to post this so I am hoping I am in the right place.
I ran the System diagnostic and it seems I have a service that is "abnormally terminating service" It lists it as "UNKOWN" . I checked Services in Administrative Tools and see no errors that I know of anyway. Has anyone else encounter this? I have attached a snapshot of my system diagnostic results. (hopefully it attached)

STOP: c oooo 145 {application error. The application failed to initialize properly (0x 0000005). Click OK to terminate application. The above message is what I receive, when I run "error check". It was advised from the Microsoft website that I ran ERROR CHECK, along with "disk cleanup" & "defrag" analysis, to see if the machine needs to be defragged.I went along with the advised procedures by Microsoft, because it was said that the computer would run faster. I've been doing the ones that worked, defrag analysis, disk clean up & CC Cleaner. Along with those maintenance tasks, I update all the definitions on the malware software. With the aforementioned error message problem with the lap top, I also have a problem with Adobe Reader (listed in another topic), that I can't uninstall it, without getting a 'Error 1402' message. Then the one last problem is the cursor jumping around at random times, when I am typing to either the forum or in a Word document. I mention these other issues because I am not sure they're not related. This is a DELL Inspiron 1520, Centrino (2007). What steps are you taking to run the check?

That error seems to indicate a hard drive problem, which is why it was suggested to run chkdsk /r.

Start/Run...type chkdsk /r and hit Enter. Type Y in new screen and hit Enter. Reboot the system. The command should execute, before booting into XP.

Hi There

I have been given a friends computer to fix. The way he described it, it sounded like it was full of Malware etc, however I haven't been able to start it up as I get the following message appearing when I power it up.

userinit.exe - Application Error The Application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click ok...

This message appears twice, I then get the wallpaper of the computer up, but nothing else, no icons or task bar. I have tried a wee trip to safe mode but don't get anywhere from that either, just the same message.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Cheers

Colin

A user is getting a popup warning upon login (see event log entry below).

This started last friday and another Tech ran chkdsk and the user was able to print a few times before they left at end of day, not able to print today. I ran the chkdsk but no luck.

The print spooler service will not start, when forced the popup shows.

I have removed and replaced spoolsv.exe with no luck.

I was on my computer this morning. I shut down the computer and then this evening when I turn the computer on I get the following message:

I click okay I get a blank desktop - so I cannot run system restore. I have tried starting the computer in safe mode but I get the same message. I am currently using my husbands laptop to try and figure out what to do. Can someone please help me?

I was brought a machine the other day from a friend who got it from a house she was cleaning...so of course there is no telling why they left it behind as it is souped up with all the fans, lights, and amd EP-8KHA motherboard with the counter on it...which when I first loaded it..it took forever the boot screens came up then the wonderful....Services.exe - Application Error. Answer:Services.exe - Application Error. The Application Failed To Initialize (0xc0000005).

Well...it seems to me (I may be misreading) but that system belonged to a unnamed 3d party, which had the operating license.

If I had found such system, the first thing I would have done is wipe it clean (because I don't like using someone else's data which they've decided to trash) and to give myself a good start at seeing if the system worked properly.

Then I would have done a clean install.

That's the only way that I know how to go from a series of unknowns...to a known good, working system.

Worst case scenario: The system is highly infected.

Best case scenario: The system has O/S or malware problems or a combination thereof.

OK, this is admittedly a strange one...

I have used an old (probably a 16-bit) application as my time synchronizer this I've used for quite some time. Its name is TimeRC, and is a great synchronizer as it tracks moon phases along with the time (from selectable, multiple potential time servers). After a fatal software crash a couple of weeks ago, I'm in the process of recovery. Attempts to manually launch the EXE, result in a launch-time error stating that the ap is not compatible with my Windows 7 Pro (SP1). Note that I'm running on the same level of Windows that I was using prior to the crash/re-install. I have inhibited compatibility checking (Group Policy adjustment) only to incur the Win32 error.

I've been through the litany of utilities (registry) to correct this situation, and I KNOW that this ap runs just fine on Windows 7 (from pre-crash days). I am at my wits end trying to avoid this situation. I suspect that there is a registry setting difference (now versus pre-crash) about which I'm ignorant, so I'm open to any, and all suggestions.

To use an alternative time synchronizer is not an option...I'm anal about how my system looks, feels, and performs!! I've even tried running in XP mode (virtual machine) to no palatable result. Note that I don't have access to the program's source code, otherwise I could recompile!

There's got to be something that I'm missing.

Color me frustrated,
Randy Reist (Lairbear)

I'm getting consistent/regular application errors involving "svchost.exe_SysMain" failures. A typical event message looks like the following:

This is followed (in the event log) by a cascade of errors from the "Service Control Manager Eventlog Provider" such as the following:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The ReadyBoost service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 2 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service.

The cascade of service/driver errors occurs within 3 to 6 seconds of the initial svchost.exe_SysMain failure and hits a dozen or so other services including but not limited to ...

SYSMAIN is Superfetch.

I see exception code = 0xc0000005. What anti-virus product(s) do you have installed? If "Internet Security" package w/ personal firewall like NIS, KIS, Mcafee, etc... - IT is the likely cause and s/b removed.

cmd.exe application error - application was unable to start correctly (0x0000142). Click ok to close the application

Anyone know why it happened?

I got this error when I tried to restart to install an update. However, in windows update, it showed I had nothing to update. There was the little yellow shield by the shut down button to indicate it was installing an update when I would shutdown.

I rebooted fine, and CMD works fine. Is it possible windows thought it had to install something, and the installer had already installed the update (I went onto windows update earlier myself to install the windows and silverlight updates) and it bugged because maybe it had to use cmd to execute the update or something?

Answer:cmd.exe application error - application was unable to start correctly

It seems to be happening again, but only when I shutdown when explorer is open. I tried and tested his multiple times. It has only happened after the new silverlight update and kb 30247777 (sorry if the number is wrong) update.

What is causing this?

Hi All,

I recently purchased a new laptop and I have had this error occur almost since the start.

Basically, when I switch on my laptop, both bttray.exe and GrooveMonitor display the exact same error(bar the application name in the title) - I have also tried to install AVG Free which comes up with the same error when trying to start.

The error is:

BTTray.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc150004). Click OK to terminate the application.

I am running Microsoft? Windows Vista? Ultimate 6.0.6001.1.1252.44.1033.18.3066.1940

I haven't tried anything to correct this as I wouldn't know where to start.
Any help anyone can provide would be highly appreciated,

Thank you in advance,

I've had an ongoing problem with application errors that say the following:

I've run HJT before and others couldn't find anything. I've significantly cleaned up my PC, currently uninstalled about 4-5 different spyware/adware programs (at the instruction of a MS tech support person who's trying to help me integrate SP2 back into my c:/ with no luck ). But, someone on the XP forum suggested I run HJT again and copy the log so here it is. If anyone has any other ideas I'm open to listening. I get this error message when exiting out of almost every application or browser I have. Can't seem to figure this one out. Thanks!

Answer:Application error message every time I exit application

I don't see major here...Did you install anything before this happened? Perhaps IE 7.0?

Go to Start->Run and type in sfc /scannow and hit OK. Let it scan. If it finds any files missing/corrupted, it may ask for the Windows CD.

Download LSPFix http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/LSPFix.exe and run it. Check the box that says 'I know what I'm doing'. Click on inetcntrl.dll on the left window and then click on the arrow pointing to the right. Click Finish and follow the prompts.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following if they still exist and hit 'Fix Checked' after you checked the last one:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/cust...search/ie.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/cust.../www.yahoo.com

Make sure you turn off any antivirus programs you have running while performing the online scan below. Using Internet Explorer, run a virus scan at http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner Click on 'Launch Kaspersky Anti-Virus Web Scanner' and install the ActiveX component from Kaspersky. Click Yes and it will begin downloading the latest definition files. Once that's done, click on 'Scan Settings' and make sure the following are selected:

Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
- Extended

Scan Options:
- Scan Archives
- Scan Mail Bases

Click OK. Now under select a target to scan, select 'My Computer'. It will ... Read more

I have used "Data Execution Prevention" (DEP) listing my ACDC file viewer. I listedACDC because after it completes normally each time, there is an error message that says "Application has stopped working." I no longer want to see this error message.I use ACDC 7 for viewing and editing graphic files, here with this Windows 7 (64) system.

I usually select files with Windows Explorer, and they open using ACDC.

When I close the last file viewed, I get this error message that says "ACDSee 7.0 Application has stopped working"Installations of this ACDC on other Windows 7 computers do not have this issue. So I need to resolve it.

Hello, all,
In looking at my error logs, there have been occasional errors with Word. But just recently, they have become quite a pattern. I'm not a techie and don't know if this error entry tells us details to center in on exactly what the problem is. But I am copying it below for your perusal. I am running Home Vista & Office Home & Student 2007. After I installed an update to my HP OfficeJet All-in-One I started getting frequent messages that Word had failed & Microsoft was searching for solutions to the problem. It always repairs & Word returns for continued use, but something is clearly wrong. I saw a discussion on Bleeping Computer that lead me to think that Office & my HP printer might be conflicting. But so far as I am aware the updates for both the Office & HP are the newest versions. I think Microsoft is completely updated. Can you help me correct whatever this is all about ? I am very unclear about what is happening & don't know what to do.
Thanks, dreamcatcherco

Answer:Application Error--faulting Application Winword.exe

Microsoft Word crashed because of this module: hpz3r4x6.dllThe references that I was able to find for this file suggest that its:1) an OEM driver file, and2) a Unified UI/Render plug-inWhich doesn't mean a whole heck of a lot to me, but I've got a guess or two about.Since the filename starts with HP and you've recently installed an HP OfficeJet...did you install it from the drivers on the disk, or did you download the drivers from HP? If you installed from the disk, did the disk (or the setup program) specify that the drivers were compatible with Windows Vista? Often printers will be marked with a "Works with Windows Vista" sticker - but won't have the Vista drivers on the installation CD/DVD.I would suggest uninstalling the drivers and software for the HP printer, then reboot and test to see if the error has been corrected. If it has, then try getting the Vista drivers from this link: http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/suppor...Display=driversand see if that helps.

When I start up my comp, everything is fine until I reach the XP welcome screen. At this point the 'userinit.exe - user application error' message box appears twice. after clicking ok, windows continues to load but when it gets to the desktop nothing shows up. I can make desktop show up by going into WTM and going to file>new task(run)..., but as soon it loads i get multiple message boxes of 'rundll32.exe - application error'. I get similar messages when I try to run notepad, system restore, and when I double click on the icon to safely remove hardware.

I don't want to reformat my comp again, I've tried running sfc /scannow and its done nothing, tried reinstalling XP but for some reason its missing a file. Any help would be appreciated.
