Lenovo ideapad 110 Battery and charging speed problem

Question: Lenovo ideapad 110 Battery and charging speed problem

Hello, I got the Lenovo ideapad 110 near a month ago, I liked it a lot, until many problems started happening and it ticked me off a lot. The main problem with this computer is the battery life. I looked up what the average battery life for this computer was, it said approximately 3 to 4 hours. And it is hard to believe that because at fully charged, the battery life says it is 2 hours, but runs out quicker than that. The charging speed, I was at 0% with this computer, and it said that to be at fully charged, it would have to take nearly 3 hours! What??? I researched online if there was any way to replace a more long-lasting battery or to see if there are some ways to save/improve the battery life. What I got were ways to save more battery, but none of it worked, they don't make a difference. Lowering the brightness, probably only saves 5 minutes of your battery, and that's the most I could really do (out of all the ways showed in the support page), since I never use bluetooth, etc. Really need some help, would really appreciate some better ways to saving more of the battery, or if there is a way to replace the battery in this computer with a bigger life. But I strongly dislike the problems with most Lenovo computers, thinking of returning/exchaniging it. Thanks for your time.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My lenovo s10 netbook, with windows 7 and XP isn't charging anymore. I thought it was because XP is no longer supported or something, but I upgraded to Windows 7 and it still doesn't work. There's an orange light on, and when I move the battery around it turns blinking blue, I thought that meant it was charging, but in Windows 7 it says no battery detected and it's not holding any charge. Any advice would be deeply appreciated. Thanks!!

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad S10 Battery Problem (plugged in, not charging) HELP!!!

hi john_i,

Try performing a system power drain,
Remove the Battery and AC charger,
Hold the power button down for 15 sec.
Reconnect the battery and AC and turn the system on, Check if the charging will continue.
If not try removing the AC and see if the the computer will shut off.
If yes then you might need to replace the battery.

I've recently bought a brand new lenovo Ideapad 510 15IKB MTM is 80SV001PIH. Since last few days I'm facing issue with battery. I plugged in my machine at a charge level of 96%. After half an hour I noticed that still the battery level is 96% . When I put the pointer on battery guage, it's showed that "Plugged in, not charging". In my laptop battery is not removable, so I can't try removing the battery and putting it back again. I've restarted my machine many times but still the situation is same.

Hi, I had the problem where the battery didn't charge at all even if it was connected in the right way and the charger was plugged in. So I started to search internet for possible solutions. Those I found where to 1) disable alt uninstall ac and acpi adapter in Windows Device Manager. Restart computer.. Not charging problem is related to some Windows issue. 2) Choose the alternative "maximum battery life" in Lenovo Energy management.. Neither worked after several and time consuming tries... The problem here is Lenovos "smart" Energy management system that prevents the computer from charging the battery to "save it".. Solution: Uninstall Energy Management (Publisher: Lenovo) under Program and Features in Windows Control Panel and the problem is solved.. And don't reinstall this program again....

Hey! I recently bought an Ideapad Y510P from an American seller on eBay, despite myself being located in Australia.  My issue is that, my battery will not charge unless I insert the battery, while my laptop is booting up. So basically it won't charge if:I power on my laptop with the battery insertedIf I remove and reconnect the charger adapter while it's runningI'm not too sure why it is doing this, all I really know, is that is started after I ran a battery calibration using Lenovo Energy Management.  I've contacted Lenovo Australia, but they said that they can't assist me because the laptop was manufactured in the United States, so they keep directing me to the Lenovo US technical support.BUT I've called the technical support in the United States about 3 times now. Two of which resulted in the technical support officer ending the call abruptly. I also called Lenovo Indonesia, and I got hung up on again. I'm not a mean person at all, nor am I showing any impatience/anger. So I'm a little annoyed about that. The first guy who help me from the United States, told me to remove Lenovo Energy Management and he told me to also uninstall an ACPI battery in the Device manager. None of which actually helped But at least he tried to help me! I really want this fixed because I need my laptop to complete Uni coursework.  I'm also in love with it . It's the best laptop i've ever had, I just want to be able to use it properly again &... Read more

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Y580-20994BU battery not charging

You most probably have overdischarged your battery. If you discharge the battery to 0% and let it stay like that for some time (few hours? not sure) the battery protection circuit will shut down the battery and render it useless. Explanation: Li-Ion batteries as all modern commercial batteries are based on chemical reactions. When the charge drops to 0% in Li-Ion battery the voltage drops, and irreversible chemical changes occur inside the cells. If I remember correctly crystals are formed inside the cells. Charging a battery like that is dangerous, and that's why there is a protection circuit inside the batteries, which shut downs the whole battery even if just a single cell drops below specified voltage. Happened to me twice before. Last time was actually quite recently with Y580. You can try some diy tricks like freezing the battery, but it didn't work for me. In my case it happened because there was no critical battery level set in power settings. Why was it not set? No idea. There is 6 months warranty on battery I think, so you can try it.  Otherwise you have to buy a new one.

Hi, I have a lenovo ideapad u410, it is about 2 years old now, and I've been having charging problems. This started last year, where my laptop would be plugged in and down on the battery icon it would say that it's "plugged in, not charging." The battery would deplete completely, and when I try to charge it, the light would just blink. This eventually went away after about a month, I didn't do anything, and I could use my laptop again. However now it's back, at first I thought it was my charger, but I removed my battery and plugged it in and I can use my laptop without the battery. I tried to replace the battery, but it still did not charge. When I plug it in with a battery in the laptop, it will only blink a few times then stop entirely. Do I need to download any battery management drivers? I don't know what the problem is.

Answer:Lenovo ideapad u410 plugged in, not charging, battery depleted

I have my U410 Touch for 10 months now.  It always charged to 100 % but starting a couple days ago it only charged up to 90% and stoppped.  I called Technical support as I am still within warranty, they told me to perform the  the battery gauge, but it did not work.  Then they asked me to reinstall the battery driver and the energy management software but it is still not working not charging to 100%.  They now suggest to me to do one key recovey to reset to the factory setting to see if it works.  If not, they said I can send back the computer for service.  I am not sure if I should do the one key recovery becaue I will loose all my files and etc.  I am skeptical if this will work?  Any suggestion?  Should I just tell them I will send back the computer to Lenovo to fix the problem but then I will not have the computer for at least two weeks. ....

I have actually had this problem among others with this model.  First off, I'll talk about the battery issue. I have read on other support pages that if I remove the battery and pop it back in, with a little wiggling, it should work. No luck there.  Another suggestion was to delete anything that looked like "Lenovo Battery Manager." Again, no luck.   Secondly, the laptop shuts off if the CPU is running at full for about an hour even if it's cool to the touch. It might be related to the battery issue, it might not.  Finally, the Optiarc BD-ROM drive keeps restarting until I open it and leave it open. The only other workaround would be to double click on the big drive button and waiting several minutes for it to finish and stop restarting.   Thanks for reading all of this.

HelloI just got this new lenovo Ideapad 110 and its only 4days old. Plugged it in to charge the battery and started noticing the screen going bright and then dim intermitently. Upon closer look I noticed the battery charging connection icon turning off and on repeatedly every second was the cause of the screen flicker. What could be the problem??? Its a brand new laptop I'm not expecting to be having battery or charger issues. In essence the laptop is changing between charging and not charging rapidly.  I would appreciate any help on this.

Hi, I suddenly encountered a battery problem in my laptop, IdeaPad Y510P. It seems like other folks have the same problem in Ideapad series.   When I plug in a charger, the laptop shows that battery is charing but, it never goes above 7% (w/ max battery life mode). According to Energy Management, battery status is fine.  After searching similar issues, I think it may be a problem with firmware, but I was not able to find a firmware update for IdeaPad series, Windows 8.1.... I have been using my laptop over a year, but never had this problem before. Can you please guide me through how to fix this issue?  Thanks for your help..!

After that reboot and install it back and see if there is a difference specially on the battery status. Also basing on your statement that the unit is with you for more than a year and you have not encountered any problem except recently it would seem that a battery replacement might be in order. Again before jumping into conclusion check the ac adapter and battery based on the procedure given in your hardware maintenance manual.

Yeasterday day I performed Battery gauge reset. After full discharge of battery my laptop turned off. I was unable to turn on. I removed battery, DVD room etc after doing many things don't know how I was able to turn on the laptop.  From today I am facing another problem. When I switch the Battery mode from Maximum to Optimize or vice versa my Laptop stops charging the battery and Laptop is turning off after discharge of full battery. I do same things after doing these things many time I become able to turn on laptop back. Now again my laptop is not charging battery because I changed the mode. Any Idea how to fix this issue? Is there any easy way to enable charging and disable charging? Like Dell utility? My OS details.: Windows 8.1 Pro

Hello, I have a Lenovo IdeaPad S205, and have run into some trouble. The charger recently stopped working properly, and I bought a replacement - the original charger has an output of 20V, whereas the replacement has an output of 19V. However, I wouldn't think this would make a difference. This said, when I plugged in the new charger, it said "plugged in, not charging". I took the battery out, and put it back in again, as I have had a similar trouble before, and doing this fixed it. The system stayed running while the battery was out, and I've noticed the battery percentage is not going down while this replacement is plugged in. Also, the original now seems to do the same - "plugged in, not charging". Can anyone offer any assistance?

Answer:IdeaPad S205 Battery Not Charging problem

hi Ben_R,

Welcome to the Forums.

Just to verify, does the "plugged in, not charging" stops around 60%? If it is, check the Lenovo Energy Management and toggle the Power Plan from Balanced to High Performance (vice versa) and from Maximum Battery Life to Optimized Battery Health then reboot the PC.

Answer:Problem with Lenova Ideapad Z510 Battery not charging

In response to customer reports of unexpected issues with battery performance on Z500 and Z510 laptops, Lenovo is making a battery firmware update available via download from the Lenovo Forums.

This battery firmware is intended to resolve the following unexpected charging symptoms when a Z500 or Z510 laptop is powered on:

Battery is dead
Battery is not detected
Battery is detected and charged to 100% but when AC power is removed, the laptop immediately powers off
When the battery is fully charged and AC power is removed, battery level falls dramatically within 10 minutes

Please note a step-by-step procedure for upgrading the firmware is included in the .zip file, found in the "ReadMe" folder.

The battery firmware update can be downloaded here: https://download.lenovo.com/lenovo/content/sm/z500_z510_battery_firmware_update.zip

Hello BillD55Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)1. Turn the unit off2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter5. Turn the unit on as normal

My laptop has been distrubing since yesterday. Whenever I put in the power chord, the power light and battery light starts flashing together and the laptop does not charge. When I remove the chord, the flashing disapperas. Occassionally, it charges a little before going out again.  I tried using the laptop without the battery. It sometimes does not start and other times, it goes into the first few seconds of booting (the BIOS page) before going out again.  Do you guys know what this code indicates? I'm facing very strange issues with my LENOVO G50-70, whenever I plugged charger in my laptop suddenly it goes off(complete power off) and when I power on it again if I suddenly touches the charger or move my laptop it again goes off. It works fine on battery. One more issue is my battery won't charger 100%, it stucks at 99% (cannot performe gauge reset in case because for gauge reset it must go to 100%) and when battery level come close to 30% it shows me 7% and shutdown. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Mfg date for this laptop is Oct 2014, Windows 10 OS. About a month back battery power was about 25% when I plugged charger in. the screen became brighter, means it was charging. Suddenly the computer shut down and though charger was connected, the charging light went off. Thereafter the computer did not turn on either with charger or without. Even the charging light did not turn on. Changed the charger as well as cable but neither charging indicator turned on nor computer turned on. It was like battery fully down and charger not connected. Took it to Lenovo service center and they made it alright and told me that they had disconnected the battery and reconnected. The power left in the battery was still 25%. Exactly same thing happened once again yesterday and I disconnected the battery and reconnected and it worked. Since it happened second time, whatever the problem may be, was not solved permanently by above procedure. Can someone help what could be the reason and how to solve it permanently?

Hi, I purchased an IdeaPad z710 not too long ago and I've been haveing some problems, mostly that I can't seem to get the battery to charge at all. The battery sits at 1% and a notification reads..."plugged in, not charging". I don't know whats wrong, and I've already checked to se if the battery is in visible good condition (it is). Any tips or suggestions would be appriciated.

Answer:Lenovo Z710 Battery Plugged in Not Charging Problem

hi rjw1234,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Can you try the following:
1. Turn off the computer, unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery
2. Press and hold the power button for 30secs then plug-in the AC adapter and re-insert the battery.
3. While the computer is off, let the battery charge for about an hour or two and observe the light indicators. When finished, turn on the computer check.

If the battery still stays at 1% and the battery notification is still "Plugged-in, not charging", I recommend you contact lenovo and report as you most likely need to get the battery replaced.

Hi, I have a Lenovo P580 that is almost 3 years old, and I recently bought a new battery from Amazon to replace the original battery that came with the laptop. However, after installing the new battery, I can't get it to charge with the AC adapter plugged in. The new battery had a 60% charge initially. I currently have the battery setting in "battery fully-charged mode." The battery indicator light is red and flashes quickly, regardless of whether the AC adapter is plugged in or not (and despite having 60% charge). In the bottom right-hand corner of the desktop taskbar, the battery is recognized as being "plugged in, not charging." Is there a way to get the battery to charge? Or should I return the battery and get a different one? I really don't think the battery is the problem, but who knows. Thanks.

Hi all, I just bought Lenovo G460 during Singapore IT who on Mar-2010 and then come up with this battery charging problem. It just happens 2 days ago that my battery  on this G460 has charging problem. The battery icon shows "charging" below 76% and it shows NO CHARGING when hit 77%. Immediatly, I sent this to local service center. The on duty staff has changed the new battery for me. Now I followed their instructions : charge the new battery with more than 8 hours, then i power on it, it shows the SAME PROGRAM AGAIN - NO CHARGING AFTER 76%. Is anyone has this issue before?I feel very sad about this kind of quality problem happening in this new series of laptop. Please advise if anyone has this issue. Hi there everyone! I know that many of us here using the new z and p series ideapad have encountered this issue and some are still wrecking their brains, calling customer hotlines, searching the internet and trying all sorts of ways. I specially made an account to share my experience and solution with you all through an in depth explanation. Sorry for some broken english cos im singaporean and it has become a habit PLEASE READ THROUGH ALL OF IT BEFORE DOING ANYTHING. and don't kpkb if it doesnt work because you didn't read it through. What i did when i realised i had this problem: 1. Check if the battery had a problem, but now the batteries are sealed inside the computer. Scratch that if u are too.2. Check the Power Brick, plug out and plug the adapter back in, change the wall socket you are plugged into.3. Restart the computer. I believe this is what the majority of you have done. Then u call customer hot line, send to service center, still cannot find out the problem or they claim battery spoil, then you have to wait for too **bleep** long b4 it gets repaired. NO YOU DON'T HAVE TO! Take these few steps to save yourself the time, money and whatever. Firstly go to this website: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-and-U-series-Laptops/Ideapad-Z400-or-Z500-battery-will-not-cha... I shall elaborate on the steps since they do not. Hi people! update for the above message: Lenovo Energy Management is still the main culprit for the error, so pls do check that under the battery menu in LEM, IT IS SET TO 'MAXIMUM BATTERY LIFE' to enable charging to 100%, not Optimised battery health as this will allow your battery to have a longer lifespan( how many years it can last, i do not mean one charge.)

Hi I have a LENOVO 3000 G400 (Bought in October,2007). Last few months my laptop used to get turned off automatically after 20 or 30 min, but when I turn it on again it used to work fine. But lately it stopped turning on without the battery charger on. If i remove the charger the laptop gets turned off. Also I don't see the battery charging LED on or Battery symbol. Does it mean I need to replace my battery or is it somthing else? Please reply. ThanksPranavi Yerasi

Answer:LENOVO 3000 G400 Laptop Battery Charging Problem

It's likely a dead battery. As I remember G400 models are two years old, this is a normal time for these batteries to end ther lifes.

I bought lenovo y500 two days ago in INDIA.  In the lenovo energy management system 8.0, I found a battery calibration option and decided to do it.  The steps mentioned there were as follows. 1. Full charge2. Full discharge  The process performed full charging followed by complete discharge of the battery which caused the laptop to shut down.   When I tried turning on my laptop, it could not start.  The battery charging indicator LED wasnt switched on even though the power cord was inserted into the laptop.  I could start the laptop only after removing the battery.   Once the laptop was on, I inserted the battery back in and it began to charge.  After about 50% of charging, I removed the power cord and inserted it again.  Now the battery couldnt resume charging.  I again had to shut down the laptop and repeat the above steps of inserting battery after switching on the laptop without battery.  Only then the battery would resume charging. After this, I decided to allow the battery to charge to 100%. But, the charging remained stuck at 99% and could not fully charge the battery.  When I removed and reinserted the power cord, the same problem persisted of battery not resuming charging. Please help me with this problem.  I read on few forums about uninstalling microsoft ACPI which supposedly solves this issue.  However, ACPI returns back after I restart my laptop.I also tried switch... Answer:LENOVO Y500 BATTERY NOT CHARGING AFTER USING LENOVO'S BATTERY GAUGE CALIBRATION

ADMIN Edit - While the original post below is marked as the solution, because service will be required if the battery will no longer charge after performing a battery reset, I am adding a Lenovo update here to confirm.   Normal operation will allow the battery to relearn its capacity characteristics when using the battery reset function.  Typically this is not needed in normal use..   Batteries are equipped with a safety feature that will permanently disconnect them (like a fuse) if cell imbalance or an internal short is detected.   This tends to be statistically infrequent, but also normal, and would require a battery replacement.  (Batteries have a 1 year warranty).   This battery feature can also  produce similar results to what is being discussed in the thread, so it should first be considered by service.   This particular  forum discussion also involves a situation that could affect a limited number of systems, and could lead service to replace the system board during warranty.

If your system experiences these symptoms, please contact service during the warranty period.

Had it for just over a month.

Battery will not charge if I play ANY video game varying from chess, hearts to wow. However if I am browsing the internet it charges just fine.

When I remove the battery and start it up it, everything works including the internet however as soon as I go to start any game it instantly dies due to no power.

Ever since buying this laptop I've had the battery set to "optimize battery health", which keeps the level at 50%. But since last week or so I noticed the level suddenly dropped to about 38%, then 37, 36, etc, a bit everyday. It still says "plugged in and charging", but the icon doesn't have the charging animation, nor does the % go up. I called tech support earlier and he said to unplug the charger, then reinstall the Lenovo power management software. This didn't really solve the problem, in fact all it did was lower the % down to 25% now, because all this time the charger was disconnected running on battery power. I think basically the battery is not really charging even though it says it's charging, or it could be just not calibrated correctly? Anyone know what I should do, besides buy a new battery since that's the last resort? The laptop is roughly 1.5 yrs old, never had this problem until last week. I heard about the battery gauge reset method, but people warn that it could also damage the battery.

hi KevinLQ,

Thanks for Posting.

Have the computer boot to the BIOS mode.
Press F2 when you turn on the computer
While in BIOs Mode unplug the AC adapter and let it Drain until it shudown on its own.

This will Drain the Battery from any charge and will count the battery as 0
Now Recharge the battery and check if it will be read by WIndows correctly.

If this shows the same problem, You can have the system Serviced via Warranty.

Hope this helps

I have tried every conceivable fix for it from the forums here and none has worked. The problem that I am having is that the battery is stuck at 99% while charging and when it is off charge it will stay on for half an hour and the shut off hard without warning, it has caused me to lose progress in work. The battery gauge reset is no longer working either as it was on for hours and just kept showing 99%. I would appreciate a response back. This seems to be a problem with this make of laptop as far as Ican see.

Answer:Ideapad Z-500 - Battery firmware updated but still battery not charging

hi Aledef,

If you have the Lenovo Energy Management installed, can you check the following:

1. For Windows 7:
Ensure that Maximum Battery Life is selected

For Windows 8:
Ensure that Conservation Mode is disabled.

2. Uninstall the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method under the Device Manager > Battery
   - Link to picture

When finished, reboot the machine and observe if the battery is now charing above 59%. If the problem remains, try charging the battery while the computer (about 30mins) and see if it goes pass the 59% mark.

If the problem persists, I recommend you contact lenovo on how to go about getting a replacement battery.

Battery is not being charged.  When I disconnect the battery and leave the AC adapter plugged in and switch on, should the tablet work.  If it doesn't (my case) does this point to the AC circuit being faulty?  If the unit is plugged in but left for a while the battery will charge up, but very slowly. It was left for 24 hours like this and only had 33% charge.

Answer:Ideapad Battery not charging

Hi PandyO,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

What is the model or machine number of your laptop?

The machine should turn on without the battery and directly plug the charger.
It would be best to follow the "Power check out guide" from the hardware manual which you can download from here on the support site.

It would also help if you have a spare charger to test with aside from using a voltmeter.

Update us how it goes.

I've tried uninstalling the Energy Management and reinstall it, press the power button for a while with the battery and charger offline, restore the factory system that came with Windows 8 but none of those options worked for me. is it possible to run this laptop without the battery pack? my last laptop  had a removable battery but this model appears to be fixed? there are screw fixings but im not sure if these will detach anything, would welcome any information on this.
when the battery is fully charged can the adapter remain plugged in? or should i remove it? i was wondering if there is a cut out for when full charge is reached or it just keeps charging as i use it, this is why removable battery packs were standard a few years ago and the laptop could run off the mains with the charger plugged in, i would rather do this than eventually have to replace a worn battery later on at more cost etc,
thanks for your help in advance

Answer:ideapad 110 - Battery charging question

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

As you found out, the battery for your model is not removable by the consumer.  A simple solution to your problem if you are using Windows 10, which I'm guessing you have, is to use the Lenovo Settings app.  One of the options of Lenovo Settings is Conservation Mode.  That mode will maintain the battery at a 50 to 60% charge level which will allow you to power the laptop by the adapter without continually charging the battery.  The Lenovo Settings app is available in the Windows 10 Store if you do not have it installed already.  Just search the store on the word Lenovo to easily find it.

Once in Lenovo Settings just click on the battery icon on the left menu.  A new screen will open on the right and in the middle of that screen will be Conservation Mode.  Just enable it.  In the event you need a 100% charge to go portable with the laptop, just disable Conservation Mode.

When I bought this computer 6 months ago, the battery worked fine, and would charge fully when the power ran down. But now for some reason, it says 1% available, battery not charging. I've tried to do a cold boot, also I've tried different power management settings, and I've tried taking out the battery and putting it back in. But for some reason, I can't get the battery to charge. Any ideas? Pete

The battery status toggles between not charging, not used, and unauthorized battery after it was calibrated using one key. Before that, the battery was working perfectly, lasting close to 5 hours. Now the laptop shuts off when unplugged and the battery status is constantly changing. I've had this laptop for approximately a year now and it was unused and left in an unopened box for the first 8 months.

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 500: battery status toggles between not charging, not used, and unauthorized battery

Hi, Denkendale ?

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Do this test -

1) Switch off the laptop.
2) Disconnect power supply. Keep the battery connected.
3) Try to Turn ON the laptop.

If the laptop does not turn ON, the battery is faulty.

Also, Try turning the laptop off, removing the battery, unplug the AC adapter, press and hold the power button for thirty seconds, install the battery back into the laptop but don't connect the power cable and try to start the laptop on battery power.

Update us how it goes.

I am facing the below given 2 problems with the battery of a brand new lenovo U41-70 i5 Red model.

1. The plugged in but not charging error. Some suggestions in the web ask the user to remove the battery and change some stuff in the device drivers, but in my model the battery is not removable.

2. The battery dissipates a lot of charge while in complete switched off mode (not in sleep, nor hibernated). I have also disabled the windows fast boot mode from the power options, but doesn't work.
To give an estimate, in approximately 9 hours of shutdown (and the charging removed) the battery dissipates from a full 100 to 70%.

Note: I have updated the laptop which came with Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. Hence, the system is running on windows 10 now. The laptop is 10 days old.

Hi, My Lenovo G570 battery is stuck at 90%. It says plugged in, not charging. It just happened over night. Next day battery refuse to work. In windows it says battery 90% and is not charging but battery has no charge at all. When I disconnet the A/C power laptop just shutdown immediately. As soon as I unplug the power laptop just shutdown as there is no charge in the battery. I did reinstalled the Power managment and also updated it. I all unpluged reboot in OS, restart, put battery back and boot into the OS back. Nothing seems to work. Is there any suggestions?  UPDATE: I just installed Lenovo Enery Managment in windows 8 before I was trying in windows 7. In the battery tab there are two options Maximun battery LifeOptimized battery HealthIt is selected to "Optimized battery Health" and won't change regardless of power plan. I click on  "Maximun battery Life" and when I open the app again it reset it to "Optimized battery Health". UPDATE # 2: Lenovo Solution Center say that battery life is GOOD. Hello All, I'll try to keep it brief. I recently purchased a B560 system and noticed the Battery Indicator (located on the left side palmrest) is flashing orange constantly. In addition to this, the Windows Battery Icon (on the system tray) is indicating that the battery is not charging at all. I've done some basic troubleshooting: Rebooting the system. Removed the battery, reseated it. Unplugged the system from the power connector etc. and the system still indicates the battery isn't charging. More details:The system was manufactured March 03, 2011 and purchased new from on Bestbuy May, 2011.Windows 7 64bit, recently upgraded to SP1, no other issues to report

Hello everyone, I've had myY510P SLI for about 6 months now and I mainly use it on a desk so I rarely use my battery in it unless I am traveling. I never had any issues with the battery until last night. I decided to put the battery in, but I noticed that Windows said "plugged in, not charging" and showed a blank battery. It didn't report battery statistics or anything. I tried messing around with Lenovo Energy Management but that didn't do anything. The battery status indicator LED has also been flashing red non-stop. This would be a huge dissapointment to me if I need to replace the battery that has less than 30 charge cycles on it. But I'd rather it be a battery issue than a problem with the motherboard. My Y510p has a i7 4700MQ, 750M SLI, 16GB RAM, 1TB HDD  and is running Windows 8.1 with mostly all bloatware removed. I even tried the method where you start up with no battery and uninstall it from the Device Manager and resetting the BIOS. Both didn't do anything for me. All help is appreciated, thank you!

HiThere is a setting in lenovo energy management which limits the battery charge limt to 60% and there after stop charging tilll battery level falls down to around 55%. This is the battery protection mode(In some laptop it is optimize for battery life or similar). Just open energy management and go to battery settings by clicking the icon. So your battery might be fine.Regardd

This is the second new IdeaPad Y470 I've ordered from Lenovo in as many weeks that has the same exact problem as the first new Y470 I returned to Lenovo after only four days of use.  Simply put, the machine quits charging the battery for no apparent reason and on a completely random basis.  Note that I am fully aware of the difference between the Maximum Battery Runtime and Maximum Battery Health settings in the Lenovo Energy Management software.  The problem I'm experiencing occurs REGARDLESS of which of these two modes the machine is in, and it occurs regardless of which AC adapter is plugged in (I ordered a spare adapter with both of these machines, so the problem has occurred with four different AC adapters).  THIS IS IMPORTANT... WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURS, THE ROUND MAIN POWER BUTTON LIGHT BEGINS TO FLASH, AS DOES THE WHITE POWER LIGHT IN FRONT OF THE TOUCHPAD.  ALSO, THE BATTERY LIGHT IN FRONT OF THE TOUCHPAD FLASHES RED.  When these three lights are flashing, mousing over the battery icon indicates that the machine is running solely on battery power, with no power being supplied from the AC adapter even though it is properly plugged in.  It doesn't even say "plugged in - not charging"...it's as if the AC adapter is not even plugged in.  And btw, the battery in both of these machines was properly installed.  This machine is only a week old, and this problem started within one da... Answer:IdeaPad Y470 Battery Charging Issue

Did you check the polarity of your wall outlet? Are you using a extension cord, from the wall, to plug in the adapter? I know the AC adapter doesn't have a three pronged plug, but the 2 pronged plug has a "fat" end that must be inserted correctly for the adapter to function properly. I've seen houses where some fool electrician has reversed the outlet wiring.  Buy a cheap AC Outlet Ground Tester like this: http://www.amazon.com/Electrical-Receptacle-Outlet-Ground-Tester/dp/B0012DHVQ0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qi... Just a thought. I don't believe it's a problem in 2 DIFFERENT laptops, so I would look for a solution somewhere else. DragonRider

Hi, I have this brand new z500 and it's been useless couple of months, today I take it back in use and of course plug in charger. After about half an hour I'll start the computer and battery icon says 28% and charging, usually icon is animated but now nothing happens. Also when I unplug power cord, computer shuts down immediately, same like if  you remove battery. Could the battery has been died during the time computer was unused? Is there any way to bring it back to life, or do I have to send this machine to warranty service?

Answer:ideapad z500 battery charging stuck in 28%

Under Energy Management set the battery setting to "Maximum Battery Life".

I bought my laptop 7 months ago and it suddenly won't charge. Even when the battery is drained. I thought it might start charging after that from reading the complaints online, and it does, but the light flashes intermittently for a minute or two before dying out. When I turn my laptop on it only has 5 minutes and every time I plug it in to charge, the light either doesn't light up or it flashes for a short while. My mum bought it for me from Hong Kong and the original receipt is lost so I can't take it in to service in NZ even though it has warranty. I really want it fixed fast because I need it to study and exams are coming up right now. Thank you to any help!! Eva

Hey, As of today my Lenovo N585 is having battery charging issues. When I plug in the ac-adapter/charger the battery charging animation in Windows shows progress for almost 15 seconds then it stops. When I boot the laptop with the battery removed it works fine. I would not have bothered making an account here if I could have found a fix otherwise. The battery is not charging AND it is not detected. I want to stress this because I have seen a million and one webpages for batteries that were plugged in but not charging. Mine is not detected. I have checked my power settings, I have done a power drain (take out batter and adapter, hold power button), I have restarted, I have looked for updates, and I have uninstalled the two battery things in the device manager and restarted again. I did NOT do battery gauage reset because the battery is not detected (I have Windows 8, so Energy Manager rather than Power Manager). I have not touched the BIOS because I'm wary of anything else going wrong. I bought this laptop in December. It is quite new, still under warranty, and even though I use it every day, it is still good and not bogged down or worn down in any way. I have had multiple problems since buying it, even a few right out of the box (shame on you, Lenovo), all of which I was able to fix myself. I can't imagine why I would have whatever problem I am having right now. For a short while after this problem initially occurred, I was still able to unplug the laptop and move to another outlet. So it's like the battery was actually detected. But once the battery charge ran out, I couldn't unplug anymore without immediate shutdown. Considering everything I have already tried, is it possible that the battery is bad? Can anyone help... Read more

I have an IdeaPad 500.  The A/C charger is "plugged in" and the icon says it is "charging" but there is no charge to the battery, which is now at 53% (it was 55% yesterday).   I have gone to the forum and done what they suggest (e.g. turned off the Conservation Mode).  Unlike most questions on the forum, my system says "charging" rather than "not charging".  And because it is an IdeaPad, I cannot remove the battery (at least not without opening up the case).  I am a bit worried this is a hardware/battery failure -- but I hope this forum might give me a software fix

Thanks in advance

I've been having issues with my battery. If I unplug the charging adapter, my laptop immediately shuts off. The battery would stay at 0% and say "plugged in, not charging". I figured the problem was the battery so I replaced it. I still have the exact same problem but the battery percentage is 54%. It neither drains nor charges. I've tried reverting my power options to their default settings. My drivers were up to date. I've uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers. And in advanced power settings I've tried restoring default settings and also changing reserver battery level for on battery and plugged in from 7% to 100%. Despite all this I still have the same initial problem.

hi there.              I have Ideapad S510p laptop with Windows 10 Pro. The battery of the laptop was working fine but some weeks ago when laptop was idle and battery got drained to 0% and laptop got shut down as battery got totally drained then after that i started laptop & tried to charge battery, it won't charge. It shows 1% and charging but it won't go any further for hours and after some hours it would show notification pop up that its battery has gone to 0%. yes the battery is old but it should show only 1%. Why is it doing that? any solution to this? Also what can i do to caliberate new battery and that it shows correct time and notifications? Please help me with this.

Answer:Ideapad S510p battery not charging and stuck at 1%

Hi Sentient,

Greetings.

I would suggest trying to remove the AC charger and battery and follow recommended power check out from the hardware manual (page 21-22 Checking operational charging and Checking the battery pack).

Without the AC adapter and battery, press down the power button for 30 seconds to drain remaining flea power and try to connect the battery and AC adapter back after 1 hour (placing the battery in a dry room temperature).

Without turning the laptop on, allow it to stay connected with the charger for 1-2 hours as it should show the battery indicator LED to change from solid amber to fast blinking amber to slow blinking to white LED as shown in the status indicator guide (page28).

Above direction would at least give hint on the hardware integrity of the battery.
Otherwise, if the issue is with software detection, you may check on the same steps described here in this discussion.

Update us how things go.

I have LOVED my Lenovo ideapad Y650. However, yesterday it stopped charging the battery. I was sitting there typing when all of a sudden windows started acting like it wasn't plugged in anymore. I pulled the plug out and it made the normal *beep* that it does when you plug/uplug it. THe LED on the case also changed indicating it had been plugged and unplugged. On windows though it still indicated it was running off battery and my battery was draining. I then tried an alternated power adapter and battery with the same result. Hardware indicated it was charging, software indicating it wasnt charging and actual battery not taking the charge. I found that if I turn the system all the way off, take the battery out turn it on just plugged in it will run fine and recognize being plugged in. If I then reinsert the battery it will charge the battery for a while but then start to malfunction again.  PLEASE HELP. I am in school and cannot afford another laptop. My life is on this thing

I very recently purchased a Ideapad Z565.  The problem I have is that  after working with the laptop unplugged for  awhile I plugit in for the battery to charge.  The battery will charge for 30 seconds then the screen goes to power save mode for 1 second and then back to charging for another 30 seconds.  After the 2nd 30 seconds charging the battery icon no longer shows the computer plugged in. It also does not charge the battery.  When the batterystops charging the power indicator on the front is blinking.  If I unplug the AC adapter and replug in the sequence starts again.  Additionally, if the lid is closed the battery will charge normally.  Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, KSquared

Hi, My laptop is 7 months old and when it started having battery issues. The battery icon would sometimes show that it's not charging event though it was plugged in. Now, it's not charging, it has no power, and when I press the power button I don't even get three led flashes like I used to when it was dead and not charging. I really want to take it to a specialist but I have no warranty in NZ because the U410 model isn't sold here so I would greatly appreciate any help on solving this problem. Thank you Eva

Don't know if this will help but mine was not charging even tho it was plugged in and Lenovo tech help eventually downloaded and installed new firmware and drivers for the power management utility.     I have the P500 model.

Hello,

I have a problem with my Lenovo z500.It has just four months and the battery will no longer charge! On windows, the icon indicates 37% (plugged in charging) and remains in this state without moving.
If I unplug power, the PC shutdown.
In addition, the battery does not charge when the computer is off an I can't turn on the computer if it's not plug on the power.

Do you have a solution to my problem?

Sorry for my bad english.
Best regards.

hi brice572,

The battery on that Z500 is showing a sign of imminent failure. Can you try to perform a battery gauge reset to fully dragin the battery and reset the charge capacity. To do this, open the Lenovo Energy Management > Battery > Battery Gauge Reset (see spoiler)
 Spoiler (Highlight to read)
If the above steps doesn't work, you need to call lenovo on how to go about replacing the battery.

Hope this helps
