Preferred Solution: Dell Inspiron 15(5559) Won't Turn On / Stuck on Dell Logo

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer:My dell inspiron 5559 wont start up and only shows the dell logo

Windows 10 is on the system?
In the meantime, power on system, wait about 3 minutes,  close the lid ( please don't power off), turn over the computer, remove AC adapter and then battery. Press the 'Power On" button for 15 seconds to release Static Flea Power. Replace battery, adapter, and then power on system. Hopefully system start normally.

Hi,
I had to reset my laptop but there was some error message during the reset and since then my laptop just stuck in the Dell logo screen, reboot and Dell logo again.
Does anyone has any idea about it?
Thank you,

Answer:Dell Inspiron 11 3000 stuck in Dell logo loop after system reset failed

I'm assuming the system is on windows 10....
I'd suggest you try to get system to boot into the Recovery Repairs screen. At the Dell logo screen, turn off your computer using the hard reset /power button. Keep turning the computer on and off until you see your PC booting into the Recovery Repairs Option screen, see image below. It should only take a few reboots.

Hi
my Dell Inspiron 14z is stuck on the Dell Logo at boot up.
it was working well yesterday, but just become freeze at boot up
I can't press F2 F8 or F12 because it freezes at this point.
Releasing the residual charge did nothing (I drained the battery, have no courage to remove battery as the procedure is kind of complicated) - same problem
Restarting and tapping F12 highlights 'Boot options' but at this point it freezes.
Restarting with Fn pressed had no effect - same problem.

Any advice greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
Eric

Hi all,
I have just acquired a dell Inspiron 5547 laptop. I believe it originally shipped with Windows 8 but the previous owner has upgraded it to Windows 10. I went into the control panel of Windows 10 and chose the option to remove the previous users data and reset the pc. However mid-way into the reset I received an error saying "there was a problem while resetting your pc" and then gave me a few options I selected "continue, exit and continue to Windows 10" however after this the laptop will not boot. It sits on the dell logo and then goes black then returns to the dell logo. I am unsure of what to do, and when I press F8 I cannot access recovery. Do I need to reinstall Windows 10 from a USB? If I do so how will I activate it as the original Windows 8 product key is not on the back. Thanks

Compared to the other Dell Inspiron 5559s I have seen, and in fact compared to all laptops I have seen, this start-up time is not normal.  I don't mean how long it takes to boot to Windows.  I mean how long it takes to get it to display the Dell logo upon start-up.
There is no power light (since for some reason Dell decided it doesn't need one??), so I can never tell if I successfully turned it on or not until a good 6 seconds later when the keyboard's backlight lights up.  Then it takes another 3 seconds for the screen to turn on.  This definitely has something to do with the CMOS, or the BIOS, or something.  Everything is up-to-date, including drivers.  Please don't treat me like someone who doesn't know how to use a computer.
This has been an issue since I received the laptop in 2016.  Dell told me it's normal.  Dell was wrong.  Nothing new there.  I recently used another Dell Inspiron 15-5559 and was surprised by how responsive it was at powering on.  A function mastered on computers since computers were first made, and yet it performs badly on this 2016 model.
Any suggestions besides paying Dell a fortune?  It is not in warranty.

My Dell Inspiron 3537, running windows 10 uefi in wd ssd is stuck on the dell logo while booting. The circle of dots doesn't appear under the dell logo and windows doesn't boot.
But when I press any button on the keyboard, the circle appears and windows loads instantaneously.
Somebody please tell me what's going on with it.
So peculiar and infuriatingly frustrating.
PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS. THANKS IN ADVANCE

Answer:Inspiron 3537 stuck on DELL logo! PLEASE HELP!

I am not sure exactly where the boot in hanging in regard to Windows or just Bios boot.  You could turn on the boot log option is msconfig.exe and then, after having a boot which exhibited the condition, check the log to see if it shows some device not installing.
Others may recommend you run the diagnostics to see if they show anything.  I believe the F12 key during boot allows access.

Opened my Inspiron ultrabook today and as it booted up it has been stuck on the black screen with a dell logo. Worked fine the other day and I'm not sure what the problem is. Any help please?

Answer:Inspiron ultrabook stuck at dell logo screen

Hi Minelson,
To assist you further with this issue, I would request you to help me with the system model and the Operating system installed on the computer. In case you have windows 8 installed, you can try the following steps. 1. Restart the laptop and start tapping the F2 key at the Dell logo for enter the BIOS. 2. Navigate to the “Advanced” menu. 3. Change the SATA operation/selection in BIOS from Intel Smart Response to AHCI. 4. Press F10 to save changes and exit. 5. Reboot the system. 6. Go back into the BIOS by tapping the F2 key and change the SATA operation/selection in BIOS from AHCI to Intel Smart Response. 7. Save changes and exit by pressing the F10 key. 8. Reboot the system and it should boot normally into Windows. In case the above steps don’t fix the issue, run the Pre-Boot System Assessment (PSA / ePSA) Diagnostics. Run the test and check if gives any error code. Note down the error code and update me with the same, would let you know the next course of action. Please write back, would be glad to assist you further.

HiI have a brand NEW Dell Inspiron 15R laptop which all of a sudden became stuck at the Dell logo when it tries to boot. I have tried numerous time to power on and off, but it doesn't budge past it.
I have run the diagnostics, "No problems have been found with this system so far". It asked me to run the remaining memory tests which I did.  Again, no problems were found.
I followed all the troubleshooting steps here http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kcs/document?docid=577306 to troubleshoot a computer that is not completing POST and it has made no difference. The power button light is on, the three buttons on the top right hand side flash in turn then switch off, the CD rom makes the usual start up noise, and 3 of the 4 lights at the bottom left hand flash then the one for the hard drive switches off, with only the power and wifi remaining on. When I switch it off, all lights go out.
Please advise of a solution asap as I am unable to use the new laptop at all. Thanks.

I have a Dell Inspiron 5558. Yesterday, after trying to start after sleep mode, laptop stuck at Dell Logo. Not completing POST properly.
As per references found here, I tried to Hard Restart laptop by removing AC plug, battery and pushing start button for 20-30 second. That didn't work.
Laptop showing BIOS properly with hardware OK, especially HDD as I got references that the HDD may create this problem. Pressing F12 on startup taking me to another option from which I tried to Diagnose the situation but after clicking on diagnosing, the screen goes blank and shows nothing.
There are no recent hardware changes. Can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue?

I am running Windows 8.1 - the same o/s that came with my Inspiron 15-5547.
I move the computer between work and home. When I put  to sleep, and unplug it from power, then next time I turn on the computer, about 50% of the time it resumes correctly.
However, the other 50% of the time, I turn on the computer and it is displaying the round Dell logo on a black screen (like BIOS startup).  But the computer remains frozen on the screen and Windows does not load.
I need to hold down the power button to shut down, and then I wait a few seconds, and turn the computer back on.
At this point, the computer will usually load Windows correctly.  A few times I still get the frozen Dell screen and then just power off/on again.
Does anyone have any tips to fix this?  I am afraid that one day, Windows just won't load at all and then I'll be stuck.
Thanks,
Mike

Answer:Inspiron 15-5547 sometimes does not restart from sleep and gets stuck on Dell Logo screen

Always turn the computer completely off (shutdown) before moving. Leaving a computer Sleeping and then transporting it can damage the computer. Laptops use battery power when sleeping. They can overheat or worse when transported while in Sleep mode.
Make sure you sometimes use the laptop on battery power alone--without the adapter. Batteries last longer when they are regularly used on battery and recharged regularly.

Earlier today I did a factory reset on my laptop. After a couple hours I went to check on the status and the screen was totally black but the mouse still showed. I figured maybe it needed to be rebooted, but rebooting it gave me the same results.
Is there a key that I can press that will show up an option to do a reser again? I seriously am at a loss. To better help explain, I'm attaching a video of what exactly happens every time I start my laptop.

Run an extended diagnostic on the hard drive (F12 at powerup) before proceeding.

Hi recently my Dell 2330 wont boot up properly. I press the power button and the light comes on the button and i hear the fan. The screen is a brighter black then after a few seconds the screen seems to go off but still power and fan running. Ive spoken to Dell and done all what they asked. Then today out the blue it came on as normal. I went to run a diagnostics test from a link Dell sent me and it asked me to restart the computer. I did and then it  did what it did before and has not come back on since. They have said it could be the motherboard. Any other suggestions ? Thanks

have dell cut the laptop off from loading as it will only load half way then stops and wont carry on loading to the end

Answer:my dell inspiron 5160 only loads half way the dell logo come

I doubt Dell have done anything - your computer has developed a fault,Tap F8 key during startup and see if you can see a menu with Safe Mode mentioned. If it is there go for it and let us know if it then boots up. Note that in Safe Mode things will look rather different (large icons etc). If this fault came on recently and you can get into Safe Mode then you could do system restore to a time before the problem came along - type System Restore in search.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Hello,

I have a problem with my new laptop and it happens only sometimes. It is around 1 month old and it had this problem from the beginning . The laptop is a DELL INSPIRON 3552
1. DELL LOGO appears
2. Screen backlight is ok
3. Windows won't start ( window's logo doesn't appear ) and if i plug an external mouse the cursor is on the black screen.
If I shut down the laptop from the power button and the start it again it works. It's very random. Once I had to restart the laptop for 3 times before the windows started.
Any ideas ?

Answer:DELL Inspiron Windows screen black after DELL logo

Hi,
Thank you for writing to us!
As we understand that the system doesnt not boot and just goes up to the Dell logo and after multiple restarts the system works fine.
In that case ,Can you boot the system into " Safe mode " and check if the same happens..You can also perform a system restore and also check for updates pending .
Thanks

Hey Folks,
I have a Dell 15 5559 laptop with a 500gb SSD & 8gb ram.
It works fine only for the boot up. It takes about 9 seconds to get to the Dell Logo from the moment I press the power button. After that it boots fine.
Considering the spec of the laptop, this boot time is terrible. When I contacted dell support they just said that they don't guarantee boot times.

From the research I have done, the problem lies with the bios. (I have the most up to date bios)

Has anybody found any fix for this?

thanks in advance

The keyboard on my new Windows 10 Dell laptop stopped working completely so I tried shutting down. Windows seems to have shut down but the computer won't turn off (the keyboard backlights are still on and the fans are going). Pressing and holding down the power button (even for over a minute) does nothing, I can't pull the battery as it's inbuilt.
Is there anything I can do other than waiting for the battery to run itself out? And what if it doesn't turn on again after that?

You would need to find someone very good at soldering to permanently fix it. Motherboards are often multi-layer and it is easy to solder things together that you shouldn't. In manufacture they are fitted by flow soldering (bath) techniques. Thanks for the feedback.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

There is an obvious bulge in the keyboard.  This seems to be due to backlight wires against the keyboard.  There is height difderence around keys 9, O and L.  The keyboard is also flimsy around 8, I, K. Because of the void between keyboard and base.
Has anyone found a fix? I called Dell who said this is not a technical malfunction and all keys on the keyboard is working. As such tech support didnt help me.  I called the vendor who told me to call Dell's tech support.

I want to know the manufacturer of the hard disk of Inspiron 5559 ......????????As I bought one from two weeks and I found that the brand of hard disk is Toshiba from 2006??????Is it right??????Or some thing wrong

Answer:Dell Inspiron 5559

Could be Toshiba, WD (HGST) or Seagate (Samsung).  Some have easily decoded manufacture dates, while others do not.
Large capacity (1T and up) drives didn't exist in 9.5 mm or slimmer format in 2006, so it's not that old.

Hi. I have a dell xps 13. I purchased it in nov 2012 and it is running windows 8. It has been working perfectly until yesterday. When I turn it on the dell logo flashes up then it stops. Also, Install the Microsoft update from the below mentioned link:http://bit.ly/TM4KqW

Please let me know about the status of the issue.

Answer:DELL Latitude 3340 Stuck at DELL LOGO

Hi james.hilham,

I would like to look into this further, can you Private Message me your Service Tag on the system? Also, it sounds like you might have seen the Diagnostic Boot Screen, but can you try these steps below to see if it gets any further:

1. Disconnect the AC adapter from the system and remove the system battery.2. Hold down the Power button for approximately 10 seconds to drain any residual power and then release the power button3. Hold the power button down once more while inserting the AC adapter into the system. This will initiate the Forced ePSA which may clear the state causing the system to remain at the Dell splash screen.4. Release the power button once you see any text on the display or the Dell splash screen\5. The Dell ePSA (Pre-boot System Assessment) diagnostic page will next appear6. If the ePSA page does not appear then the recovery method was not effective.7. Should ePSA initiate allow it to complete the quick test to determine if any component failures exist.8. Should the system recover from the condition and boot into the operating system, it is very important to update the system BIOS immediately after the system has recovered to prevent a reoccurrence.

You also view a video on the steps here:
Lastly, when the system freezes at the Dell startup screen, can you let me know if there are any diagnostic LEDs, such as a certain blinking light pattern (there might even be solid lights) for the HDD LED, Power LED, and/or the Wireless L... Read more

2- I ran the Diag  from F12  and received error 2000-0415 validation 119822
3- I updated the bios

Machine Currently running with Win 7 Pro from DELL.  It supposedly also has Win 10 PRO option, but I see no read me files on how to upgrade. The DVD included with laptop says "Windows 10 PRO 64 bit - USE THIS DISK ONLY TO REINSTALL THE OPERATING SYSTEM"
The Dell tech on the Chat told me to use the DVD and boot off of that. Now computer wont run on anything!
Says:
PXE - E61 Media test failure, check cable.
PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM No boot device found.

Answer:How do I activate Windows 10 Pro that came with new Dell Inspiron 5559?

Very confusing question. What machine is running windows 7? Did you order a new computer with windows 7? The free upgrade to windows 10 will work and you will not need to activate it. Don't boot to the dell disk. That is for reinstalling windows 10 not upgrading. Just upgrade the normal way by booting to windows 7 on the new machine and open your browser and go to the upgrade site. Here-
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Windows 7 must be running to get the free upgrade. Do not do a clean install You would not be able to activate a clean install.

Hey guys, I just had a Dell Inspiron 15 5559 delivered to me yesterday and I noticed there wasn't a backlit keyboard installed. At first, I thought it was just off, but after looking around this site and doing some research to first make sure I wasn't just not able to turn it on, I've arrived to this conclusion.
I've tried doing Fn + F10. I've tried Ctrl + F10. I've tried going to Mobility Center and changing multimedia/function key.I also have all my drivers updated and made completely sure everything was updated in case it was just a software issue. I also updated BIOS and went there and checked if I could change keyboard settings there; no luck.
The thing is, my laptop is the touch model and to the extent of my knowledge, all touch models are equipped with a backlit keyboard. So what's going on...? Do I have to pay out another $50 for a backlit keyboard?
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I have tried everything I cant think of.  All internet searches and dell documentation seems to indicate:
Alt + PrtScr should capture the active window.
PrtScr works and captures the entire screen.
Alt is working (alt+ctrl+delete)
I have tried both alt buttons.
This laptop is only a couple months old and I am assuming it has never worked as this is the first time I have attempted to capture just the active window.
I use this regularly at work and it is clearly not working on my home laptop
What am I missing?

Answer:DELL INSPIRON 15 5559 Alt+PrtScr Not Working

I'd suggest you press PrtScr key + windows logo key to capture the entire screen. I also suggest using the Snipping tool on the system as well. Please type Snipping Tool onto the [Cortana] search box, you'll see the tool.

This laptop is less than a year old (OS: Windows 10) and is getting the "plugged in not charging error." The unknown AC watt error pops up when booting the laptop and I have to unplug the adapter just to get to the desktop. The AC adapter will sustain the battery although it obviously drains over time when being used, but slowly. The AC adapter and battery are those which came with the laptop. Also, the backlight for the screen and LED light on the laptop do work when I plug in the adapter.
I have tried the following:
- BIOS reset- BIOS update- BIOS Diagnostic Test & Dell Diagnostic Test- Blowing into DC Jack- Testing a new Dell brand/approved ac adapter- Testing a new Dell brand/approved battery- and basically anything else Dell has suggested through its troubleshoot suggestions
Any other thoughts here? Next step is to contact technical support as the laptop is under warranty.

Answer:Dell Inspiron 5559 (New) Plugged in Not Charging

Contact Dell for warranty support - one of three things is bad:  the adapter, the DC jack in the system, or the mainboard.   The warranty will cover the repair (assuming it's not due to a physically damaged adapter or DC jack).

All,
My new Dell Inspiron 5559 crashes overnight while I am logged out. I come in to a Windows recovered from a crash message. I have installed WinDBG, and it always reports:
BugCheck 1E, {0, 0, 0, 0}
then (after the rest of the analysis):
Probably caused by : Rt64win7.sys ( Rt64win7+1dd04 )
or
Probably caused by : Rt64win7.sys ( Rt64win7+1d836 )
I suspect they're the same error, of course, with different memory addresses.
I've run system cleans (ccleaner), uninstalled all questionable software (McAfee and Norton), and reinstalled different versions of the RT network drivers.
Any other ideas?

Answer:Dell Inspiron 5559 - BSOD Overnight

The Realtek ethernet driver is causing the crash.  Are you running the latest version (check support.dell.com for an update)?

Hi,
I recently bought Dell inspiron 15 5559 laptop. It is i7-6500u @ 2.50GHz  2.60GHz with 8Gb ram. The problem I have is it freezes a lot. It even freezes while watching a movie or browsing chrome. I've run the Dell online diagnostics tool as well as system diagnostics but it passed every test without any problems. Some times it wont freeze for a long time and sometimes it would freeze a lot.
I would be thankful for the help.

Answer:Brand new Dell Inspiron 15 5559 freezes

You need to start gathering info about the exact circumstances when the problems are occurring.  Is it after a restart or some other event?  Can you tell if the hard drive is working?
Use the Performance page of Task Manger and watch the Drive and CPU usage.  You might open the Resource Monitor and do the same thing.
There are many utilities on my new system put there by Dell.  Also anti-virus and indexing or even log writing utilities can cause high activity on systems.
Basically, just try to be aware of what is happening with the system and if you can tie it to a circumstance or time.  Check the Event Viewer to see if there are recurring errors/warnings.

Hi there!
My dell 5559 keyboard is not working as i accidently spilled some coke on it...
I got the keyboard replaced but the keyboard quality is very poor , i am having alot of trouble while typing.
i have another laptop Dell Inspiron 15-5542 , can i use the keyboard of Dell Inspiron 15-5542 as replacement for my Dell Inspiron 15-5559???
Thanks in advance

Answer:Dell Inspiron 15-5559 Keyboard Problem

Hi USMAN GHAURI,
What is the exact issue with the replacement keyboard? Where have you purchased the keyboard from?
The keyboard layout ideally depends on the system. So, if the 5542 and the 5559 have the same keyboard layout, then you could replace and use it accordingly.
The layout depends on the region and language as well. The # of keys on a standard US keyboard for 5559 is 101 keys. It will vary for the other language layouts.
You could contact our team to get a quote for a paid service call - http://dell.to/1vnT6CQ

I just bought a brand new Inspiron 15 5559 that comes with Windows 10 Version 1511 and I want to upgrade or swap the HD with an SSD.  I did some reading, a lot of reading and I found mixed replies some which were not applicable to me.  The main issues that remain are as follows:
1. Can I plug the SSD on this model to the optical drive?  Is the optical drive Sata 2 or 3?  Or should I plug it into the HD slot?

2.  How do I go about transferring Windows, drivers, etc to the SSD?

Any help and extra tips or advice is appreciated as well!!!

I thank you in advance...

Answer:Dell Inspiron 5559 (i7 6500U, 8GB RAM) Upgrading to SSD

1.  Only if you can find an adapter for one (Dell doesn't produce one, so you'll have to look third-party).
The optical drive is SATA 3G, so you won't get the maximum impact out of an SSD.  Better would be to replace the HDD with a 2.5" SSD and move the hard drive to an adapter if you can find one.
2.  There are cloning utilities (Macrium Reflect, Acronis TrueImage) you can use to clone the existing setup to the new drive.  NEVER boot the system for the first time with both drives attached.  Shut down after cloning and remove the original drive leaving only the new one.  Once you've successfully booted Windows, you can reinstall the new drive and format it for storage.

Hi,
I just got my Dell XPS 13 back from factory repair/service with all functions tested. I was running Windows 10 before, but the Dell repair service re-installed Windows 8.1 during the repair. So I installed Windows 10 (the free version from Microsoft for users of assistive technology) and everything went smoothly. But once I rebooted, the computer is stuck on the Dell logo and will not load the OS. I pressed F12 and ran the Diagnostics, and no error was found.
What can I do now ?
Thanks !!

Hello,
I have a new dell inspiron 5559 which I bought two weeks ago I had a problem with the fan that was really loud for no reason and after doing that for a few days the laptop started to shut down when gaming due to overheating.
I sent it to the lab due to it being on warranty and they replaced the fan and the heatsink.
After I recived it I wanted to play the game I was playing last mounth - Foootball Manger 17 and it shut down again.
I ran a few tests and discovered that when the AMD GPU is on it's stating temp goes immediately with a straight line from 0C to 50C which is not normal I believe. It also shuts down while I performed A GPU stress test.
All my drivers are the latest so I figure the problem could be with the thermo detector or the thermal paste they applied in the lab.

2. Click 'Startup', and then disable McAfee and any other unnecessary programs that you don't need in your startup.

My three-week-old Inspiron 5559 will not recognize USB recovery media received from Dell. I have been working with Concierge for three weeks on this system. They insisted I reinstall the OS from USB, but not even Concierge can get the system to recognize the USB key that they mailed to me. Is there a problem with the USB key or with the USB port on the computer? Or is there a trick to using the recovery media that is unknown even to Dell's highest level of support?

Brand Value going down! customer experience going down! Customer care needs education and training!
within two months of my brand new laptop, I ended up with 4 issues. I wont take up any more.
To summarize my experience so far.

- Bought laptop on 25/03/2016 - Dell Inspiron 5559.
- within couple of months, I started getting issues on my new brand laptop.

- First Issue : wifi issue : which vivek was trying to address, and I ended up with laptop formatting.

- Second Issue : On follow up call regarding the same : sushil identified a Bios mismatch and I followed the advice and ended up AGAIN with laptop  formatting.

- Third time : Power button issue : its identified and qualified by your service engineer at site that there was an issue with power button and needs replacement of  the component.

till software formatting, I can bear and manage my effort loss. But when it comes to hardware part replacement, I want to differ.
I don't want to open the brand new laptop for any reason whatsoever, which is just 2.5-3 months old.
I need a replacement of my laptop. if not please redirect me to the concern team/person with whom I can discuss with.
During  conversation I noticed the supervior, addressing my concerns in a sarcastically manner saying "Electronics items will not ask you before going Bad". I truly disappointed to hear people making fun of their customer, being in service industry, by additi... Read more

My laptop crashes every time I play a game. The times into gameplay are inconsistent, however it does it for both high-end games like skyrim and fallout as well as lower end games that should run fine. It shuts off by simply going black and turning off. (note: when I power it up, the monitor usually doesn't turn on i have to forcefully restart it again)
But when I disable my graphic card and play games it works fine until I turn my graphic card back on.

I have a Dell inspiron 530 that will not boot. Its running xp professional with a core 2 quad. When I turn it on i hear one beep and it sticks at the boot splash screen. F2 and F12 do nothing. So far I have tried the following:

1)Swapped hard drive out with a known working one.
2)Removed both sticks of 1gig ram and placed them in different slots.
3)Swapped out one stick of ram at a time to determine if one is defective.
4)Swapped out all ram with known working ram.
5)Removed radeon graphics card.
6)Tried to do a repair on windows from a disk but I cannot get into the boot settings.

After attempting these steps I still receive the same results everytime. Try clearing the CMOS, might be the solution. if that doesn't work you could try flashing the bios, here's the documention on how to do both. Just follow the steps exactly and you'll be fine, it requires you to go into the actual computer to do it.

Hi Dell Support,

I am having so much problem on this unit. First issue the graphics not responding and now second the loud fan noise! *** is happening to my Laptop. I just buy this laptop Last January 2016 and I am having so much problem on it! Can anyone repair or replace it? Please let me know if I can still replace or repair this laptop!

Answer:Dell Inspiron 15 5559 Loud Fan Noise and Not Responding Graphics

Hi BONGSKY,
Does the system overheat? Does it stop working or turn off automatically? Are there any bluescreens / system crashes? When did the issue start? When do you encounter the graphics issue? What exactly is the problem with the graphics adapter / driver? What graphics adapter do you have an issue with? Is the issue seen with or without the adapter connected?
Update the BIOS - http://dell.to/1TZqnDE
Download the Intel video drivers from - http://intel.ly/1RdHykJ - for your OS and the AMD drivers from - http://bit.ly/1Lqm0Ld for Windows 8.1 and http://bit.ly/1iqwIba - for Windows 10.
Create a system restore point and then uninstall the existing video drivers from device manager and programs and features - then restart the system and install the Intel Driver first and then the AMD driver next. Should you have any issues during or after installation, you could always restore the system back.
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us.
If the system is under warranty, then contact us via Twitter - @dellcares for faster communication or write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details. If there is no warranty, then we can help with a paid service call if required.
Keep us updated.

Hi, today i had an issue with my laptop that i wanted to share my fix for.
Issue: BSOD on startup, message: "MEMORY_MANAGEMENT" stopcode. bootloop cannot access win 10.
Effectively, i 0'ed the harddisk checked all memory and fully formated with new windows 10, not working still.. so I tried a large number of BIOS based and rescue tool based fixes, still not .... I realised that when i erased win 10 from harddisk that it was still loading win 10 and crashing?!?! strange, but i assumed it was the CMOS/NVRAM? maybe
Fix (for me): Disable PTT security from the BIOS. AND ctrl+esc as i turn on (with power cable connected AC).
Image of PTT security on my BIOS:

when i attempted to go into a miniXP or win 7, i would also get issues, on XP it said BIOS not ACPI compatible, idk anything about what that means.
anyway thanks for reading, just putting out 1 more potential fix (for me anyway) for BSOD Bootloop issue if any1 else has it.
Does any1 know why that may have fixed it? either way i am posting just to share my experience

At the head of this I will suggest that this is a motherboard failure.
Cannot use the function keys.

I have:

1) unplugged all peripherals prior to start up
2) unplugged from mains and held down starter key before plugging and restarting.
3) Cleared CMOS as per owners manual p 196

I now have lined down the screen and the Dell splash screen is just sitting there like an inert screensaver.

Note: no abnormal beeps.

I've uploaded what the screen looks like.

Hi Guys,

In desperate need here... This might not be a big deal for some, but it is for me since my laptop is barely 2 months old...

My aunt accidentally scratched the outside cover of my Dell Inspiron 5559, resulting in several black lines.

I used rubbing alcohol, oil, hand soap and water to remove the black stains (of course, in separate occasions) but to no avail.

Finally, I used 3M Super Duty Auto Scratch Remover. It helped ease the lines a bit but are still visible. Now, I think I used too much because it caused a slight discoloration, as per the attached picture.

1. Can I bring the discolored portion back to the original? (Sigh...)
2. Any other tips for scratch removal?

THANK YOU.

Jo-Ann

Answer:Dell Inspiron 5559 laptop aluminum cover - discolored and scratched

Jo Ann mate if you can get holds of some stuff called Silvo or any silver metal polishing material then try it I do scratched CD's and DVD's like stuff back to normal but it is tedious.
First try a small area at the edge of that mark. Now there is a brass cleaning polish called Brasso DO NOT use it it is solvent based and probably what the stuff you have used is based on - the Silvo is water based and can be thinned a little with rubbing alcohol (methylated spirits) if need be.

Edit: I meant to say use one of those soft microweave clothes or spectacle cleaning cloths to do that and find out if circular motion works better than a straight back and forth motion.

Hi. I have a Dell Inspiron 5759.  I started seeing alerts that the above bios update was available. I haven't installed it yet.
Has anyone applied this update? Any problems or issues?
Thanks!

any help or explanation to a symptom like this ?
pushed power button then over night, the battery is completely drained, also no boot, repeatable.
shutdown the machine but no goes into sleep mode, the battery is safe without overnight drained issue, but still some leakage about 10% overnight. The battery report generation mechanism has wrong ? or really the PC hardware fault ? or Win10 bug ?!

Answer:win10 battery drained so fast unexpectedly, Dell Inspiron 15-5559

Turn off Fast Startup. Under Windows 10, your computer does not totally shut down with Fast Startup on. It can actually be running processes when you think it is "shut down". If you leave it off AC power for any length of time, it can drain your battery. With Fast Startup off, your computer will boot slightly slower, but it should not make a big difference.

Hi, I have purchased this laptop with Windows 10 Home pre-Installed. But due to some Professional requirements, I want to install a Developer friendly linux distro on it. I'll be using many VMs in that distro along with a possible installation of Windows via Wine. Therefore, I want to be sure about the aftermath of all this, including Driver support and battery usage. Has any fellow developer tried the above mentioned linux distros (Ubuntu 16.04 LTS / Linux Mint 18.1) on it without any problems? I have checked that it supports Ubuntu 14.04 but want to use the latest LTS versions. Just want to make sure that nothing gets messed up.

Answer:Dell Inspiron 5559 Core i7 8GB RAM Ubuntu 16.04 LTS / Linux Mint 18.1 Support

You could purchase an extra SSD or maybe a couple of them, replace the internal drive with an SSD, saving the factory Windows OS in case you want to change it back.  Just a thought.
I have put Linux Mint 18.1 on two new Dell Inspiron i7 7000 series and it installed and ran without issue.  Be SURE you get Nvidia graphics!

Resolution: Dell Inspiron 5459/5559/5759 BIOS Update - Will not boot after update
"No boot drive found", "PXE... Media test failure"
If you updated from 1.0.x to 1.1.5 (or other) and find yourself scratching your head in a panic that your system won't boot up, reboot and press and hold the F2 key when you see the Dell logo (shortly after restart). When the bios settings page opens, click restore settings to default, save, and then exit. Your system should boot to windows now :-)
If you don't care about default Keyboard LED brightness or Fn Lock key default status, disregard the following:
After your system restarts into windows, restart and repeat to enter bios. There are some minor settings that change -- They are minor and don't affect performance.  Under System Configuration, Keyboard brightness changes from dim to bright. Under Post Boot, Fn lock key changes to unlocked.
Have a nice day. Hopefully if you're reading this you already figured that out on your own.

Answer:Dell Inspiron 5459/5559/5759 BIOS Update Error - WILL NOT REBOOT

Hello,
I am facing the exact issue for my 5559 laptop after updating bios from Dell update site.
It had 1.1.5 if i remember correctly, and update was for 1.1.6 using Inspiron_5459_1.1.6.exe
Only problem, reset to default settings does not solve it for me. Its still the same PXE E61 Media test failure and NO Bot device found error.
Is there a way to boot from usb and flash it to original version ?

This is my second one just hours old. The first one I had was a 5559, but had 4gb ram and 500gb hdd. That one Microsoft Edge would not launch, and kept crashing. BRAND NEW OUT OF THE BOX. I did a recovery and reset it as it was when dell shipped it and same exact issue. I took it back to frys they couldn't even fix it. I exchanged it for this new one which is a Dell Inspiron 5559 15" same specs as the other but has lighted keyboard, 8gb Ram, 1TB hdd, without touch.

DELL, What is going on? I need this resolved ASAP. This happens when web surfing and even just in general windows. No other applications have been installed except McAfee and Word 2013, but is not running.
I'm not understanding what is going on when this occurs not even 24 hours out of the box. Windows 10 has showed that message 8 times while typing this message.
This laptop was a gift for my mother, and so far has been unreliable. I don't get a reply within 15 days I will be returning this PC and going with a different brand.
