Webcam for IDEAPAD 710S stopped working and can no longer be detected in DEVICE MANAGER

Question: Webcam for IDEAPAD 710S stopped working and can no longer be detected in DEVICE MANAGER

Recently bought machine. Windows 10. Camera was working just fine. Been through all the steps the phone support folks are telling me. Now they say do a Factory reset (One-Step Recover). No guarantee this will work. If not, will have to be without machine for 10 days to repair in Germany - SO frustrating..... Is there no other way? SUCH A PAIN!! Thanks,SBV

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I am using T410 for a couple of months. its camera was working but it has suddenly stoppped working now. in the Win7 device manager it appears as unknown device and in details: -"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"I have tried re-installing drivers and rebooting machine etc but no help. Please suggest how to fix this. Also tried reinstaling ehci controller device but no luck. Thanks, manu

Answer:Webcam not working on T410, detected as unknown device in Win7 device manager

hey manugautam000,welcome to the forums, disable to camera from device manager and remove the current driver installed to it.reboot your unit, re-enable the camera. windows should then install its own generic drivers.test your camera with the generic drivers.later on, head to http://support.lenovo.com , download the latest camera driver for your unit. set your unit to diagnostic mode via msconfig and then install.

Hi All, I am hoping to get some help here. I have seen that other peopel had similar issues but no satisfactory solution which applied. So here we go again . I bought a U350 with Windows 7 home basic 32 Bit.It came with a Bison/Lenovo Webcam which worked fine when I bought it. I normally use the Camera with Skype. Yesterday while using skype I noticed that the camera had gone, dissappeared. It does not show when I hit FN + ESC. I reinstalled Power Manager, still same issue. It does not show in the Device Manager at all. The Imaging Devices are gone. When I tried adding a new Imaging Device, and added Manually and pointed to the Downloaded driver, the driver install starts. Then suddenly it stops with a warning saying: "No device as listed in setup.ini is found on this machine". I can not deinstall anything, as I see nothing in device manager. I can not install any drivers as the Hardware seems to be undetectable. My wild guess is that the Webcam has stopped working or is disconnected from the Mainboard. But maybe you got any othere clues what this could be ? Does non detection by the device manager mean that the Hardware is broken ? Many thanks!AJ

Answer:Webcam on U350 has stopped working, dissappeared from device manager.

try to re-install camera drivers, also make sure function keys are working.
if it doesn't solve your issue, to get the issue if it's related to windows, i suggest you to perform clean windows installation.

also if it doesn't work, call lenovo support line, like you said, the webcam has stopped working or is disconnected from the mainboard .

I have a Sony Vaio VPCW11S1E/T with a built in motion-eye webcam, with windows XP.

I uninstalled the arcsoft software that came with the laptop in error last week, however now my webcam cannot be detected. In device manager no image devices are listed however there is an 'unknown' under USB (usb/vid)- I have disabled and re-enabled but I still get an error message when I reboot - a USB has malfunctioned: no drivers installed. I tried to install camera drivers from the Sony website, however on trying to install a message pops up advising that 'no camera is detected' and the driver installation is cancelled.

I've also reinstalled the arcsoft software however it can't detect a camera.

System restore is not an option as I discovered it wasn't switched on so I can only restore from today. Is a restore to factory settings the only option and would it work? It seems I have uninstalled the drivers and now the camera has malfunctioned and the system doesn't recognise it so it can't connect to a new driver.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Answer:Sony Vaio - webcam not detected, not in device manager

I would try using the restore-to-factory-defaults feature.

Appears to be a netbook with no other means reverting/repairing Windows.

The driver for the internal webcam...may have been included with the software you apparently uninstalled.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A300 PSAG4A 02L00M with Vista Home Premium 64 bit.
The webcam is not working and it is not detected in the Device Manager.
When I install the Chicony Camera Drivers, I get the "Webcam driver open fail." Error message.

The fact that I can not see the Webcam in the Device Manager is telling me that there is perhaps a hardware fault.
However I am hoping it is a setting that I can fix myself.

I had restored the laptop to factory settings also and I have updated the bios.
I have tried uninstalling all the USB Controllers and restarting the PC.

Is there anything I can do?
Perhaps it is a software issue?
Perhaps there is a setting?

Answer:Satellite A300 PSAG4A: Webcam not detected in Device Manager

Best way to test hardware functionality is to check it with ?factory settings? installing operating system with Toshiba recovery image. As I can see you have done this already.

So if cam still doesn?t work properly I am afraid there is some problem with hardware.
It cannot be software issue because recovery image contains proper driver for the cam.

Hi,
My 7270 latitude touch screen stopped working shortly after first use (after win update worked again but for a short time).
All drivers are up to date.
In device manager a USB device shows as unknown (yellow warning triangle), otherwise there are no indications to the source of the problem.  There is no other touch screen device showing in device manager.
How do I perminently solve this?
Thanks

I have an Alienware M11x notebook computer.  Recently I purchased a Sony bluetooth headset. I had not previously used any bluetooth devices on the computer.
I set the laptop to discover devices and set the headset to be discoverable.  After pairing the headset to my laptop, I opened my music folder and started listening.  After hearing music for about 60 seconds, the headset went silent and the music starting coming out of the speakers instead.  I then tried to 'restart' the laptop's bluetooth receiver but there was no way to do it.  It was even missing from Device Manager.  Finally, I closed the display and let it go to sleep.  When I resumed again, the bluetooth was back.  I was again able to listen to music but, after another minute or two, the device again disappeared.  I even called Alienware support.  He upgraded the BIOS and reinstalled the bluetooth driver, but it would never work.  This was because he never had me actually shut off the computer.  In other words, once the bluetooth device was gone, the only way to get it back was to sleep or shut down (power off, not just reboot) the machine.
After these steps failed to resolve the problem, the technician set up an appointment for me to get the bluetooth adapter replaced.  This went very smoothly (great on-site support), but when I got home, the problem was still happening even with a new bluetooth module.

I've had my laptop (Lenovo Ideapad z710) for almost a year and I've often had problems with the integrated GPU battling the dedicated gpu. I had developed work arounds for these BSOD crashes and everything was fine.  But yesterday I realized my Nvidia Geforce GT 745m gpu no longer shows up in Device Manager. It is also not identified by the programs Speccy and GPUz.  My pc runs fine but It won't allow me to use my dedicated gpu, this becomes a problem when i want to run graphics intensive games or programs. I cannot update the driver because it does not see that I have the graphics card installed.  This has to be something that happened in the past few weeks because I used my Nvidia gpu last month.  I recently updated my bios from the Lenovo website, it updated sucsessfully and I can't be sure that it caused this problem but it is a possibility I suppose.  I have read about this issue on several forums but have not found a solution.Any help or advice or people with similar issues would be greatly appriciated! Thank you! SPECS:Lenovo Ideapad Z710intel Core I7-4700MQ (2.40GHZ)8gb Memory1TB HDDNVIDIA GeForce GT 745M1920x1080 17.3"Windows 8.1

Answer:Device manager stopped recognizing dedicated GPU (Nvidia GT 745m) - Lenovo Ideapad Z710 windows 8.1

If you cannot see it anywhere, most probably its dead.

If you are in warranty, you should get it repaired from Lenovo.
They might have to replace your motherboard.

The steps you can try -
1) Clean install of graphics drivers. (Wiont work since your GPU is not recognized)
2) Reset your laptop to factory settings.

I don't use camera often, but tried to do so a few days ago and found that Skype couldn't detect the built in camera. Updated the drivers (now done so 3 times) but the camera still doesn't appear in the Device Manager (I assume it would be under imaging devices?? But whatever, I've checked every sub-heading in Device Manager and not found it.); Pressing Fn + F6 just shows audio, microphone and speaker options. Skype still doesn't think I have a camera installed. I've rebooted the PC numerous times. I've updated all the drivers I can find for the T410i even though I have automatic updates normally, so everything ought to be there that I need. I've never knowingly turned off the camera's functionality - but anyway, the fact that despite installing the drivers it doesn't even appear in Device Manager suggests something wrong internally. HELP! I have a webcam interview coming up in a couple of days and need it working! Thanks in advance for any ideas... Greg

Trying to contact microsoft seems to be impossible as they want an activation code but when I said I do not have one for Win 10. Was then told they would transfer me tech support and the inevitable disconnection occured. This after some 20 minutes waiting on the phone.

About 3 weeks ago I burned my last cd it would seem. After that my LG DVD burner just sorta stopped. Windows explorer can still see the drive, but when I put in a DVD/CD nothing shows up in explorer. I can send commands to open the drive though. The device manager reads no errors for the drive, the bios detects the drive as well. What I have done so far;

Uninstalled and reinstalled drivers
Replaced the IDE cables, switched back and forth from pirmary to secondary IDE cables
Removed the DVD drive, installed my old CD drive, same things happen.
Set jumper settings from slave to cable and back to slave.
followed the Microsoft instructions on removing the upper and lower filters in the registry. (didn't work)
Tried reinstalling windows...but the optical drive won't read anything so that doesn't work either.
I'm not even sure what would cause this to happen. The only thing I can think of is that a few days before this started my video card overheated and died. I replaced it with my older card, and continued on with now problems. Any help would be much appreciated as I'm ready to toss this out my 2nd floor window.

Cheers

Hi, I've got a very little understanding of computer hardware compatibility so please bear with me.

uhm so I was tinkering with my desktop, specs are
Motherboard: Asus A58M-E
Processor: AMD A8 6600K
and I recently added a video card which is the Palit 9500GT 1024MB, so I went to turn it on (DVI plugged into the vid card), but the monitor displayed no signal but the aux fan is spinning, and when I plugged the DVI back to my motherboard it worked again and I looked at the device manager>display adapters and my video card is not detected, the only thing on the list is the AMD Radeon HD 8570D which I think is the APU. what should I do to get my video card up and running?

I was mortified when I recieved this message on a laptop that was barely used but was now over one year old. Troubleshooting steps on Lenovo's site ended up referring to repair shop.   I watched a few video's on how to service the LED LCD display and looked over the service manual to find a solution.  Disclaimer Note: I take zero responsibility if you do this and fail or damage something. My unit was out of warranty and I have a lot of experience inside these things. So what works for me, may not work for you. 1. Completely shutdown the computer.  The machine must be totally shutdown and not in a sleep mode.2. Unplug AC/DC power adapter3. Removing the bezel around the LCD display was easy.    -be very gentle prying this off with your finger tips from the inside lip and don't put any pressure on the LCD screen. Any pressure on the LCD screen especially the bottom edge can cause damage.    -start at the top center of the bezel and work down each side and do the corners and bottom last.4. Re-seating the tiny cable connected to the webcam was not so easy; but, I did it with a plastic prybar, bright light, and magnifying glass.    -if not carefull here you could easily do some damage.5. Loosen up the slack on the cable by re-routing it a bit.6. Carefully snap the bezel back on. (It turned out that the cable does not stay connected because of to much tension on the cable. Hi there I have recently realised that the camera on my laptop is no longer detected at all. I have seen a few topics dotted about online and on here potentially listing having upgraded to Windows 10 as the problem. It could well be to do with that as I don't remember using it since upgrading Is there any driver that I might have missed? Nothing has been prompted by Windows itself and I can't seem to find anything on the Acer website - Just wondered if I'm looking over something simple

Answer:Aspire VN7-591G Webcam No Longer Detected

Hi IAmDrummist Check Device Manager to see if anything is missing. It may say "Unknown Device" or just have a yellow triangle by the side:  If anything does, then right click & select Update Driver Software. Check on the Acer Drivers site to make sure all drivers are downloaded/installed. You can also try performing a refresh of Windows 10 to see if that helps.

Yesterday, I started a download and kept the pc on with my Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex External HDD 1TB plugged in. After I woke up I realized that there was a power cut and the computer went off unexpectadly (I had no UPS or any backup system). And, I found that my Ext HDD was not seen in my computer anymore (It was working perfectly until before I went to bed).
In device manager, under 'Disks' it shows 'GoFlex Hard Disk', but in BIOS or Disk Manager there is no sign of this HDD.

I really need the data in the HDD badly. Please help me recover it.
P.S. I read somewhere that keeping the HDD in freezer might help and give a little more time. Is that true? Worth the risk?

Answer:External HDD gets detected in Device Manager but not Disk Manager or seen in 'My Computer'

Power outage probably killed something in the enclosure or its PSU. The drive in the enclosure is probably fine. I would remove the drive from the enclosure and put it in a dock or install it in a desktop computer before considering freezing it. Freezing is usually reserved for click of death drives, and a last ditch effort.

The problem simply is, the webcam stopped working for some reason, an error messeage says "Webcam driver open fail. Please restart camera or computer".

I noticed that whenever I put the computer in sleep mode I was getting on the icon tray a notification says "USB device unrecognized"... I wasnt aware what it was - thought it becasue of the USB mouse being plugged... but I think its related to the camera...

software is installed but camera is not working and cant enable it .. I did download the latest driver from toshiba site , but still not working ...

Currently my laptop runs Vista HP SP2 32-bit, Windows defender enabled, Windows Firewall Enabled, Windows UAC enabled, Kaspersky Ani-Virus 2009 Enabled. I only use Windows Live Messenger (which up to date I think , version : 14.0.8089.726) which i used camera with, I quite using face recognition long time ago and rarely use the webcam ... I didnt install or update any drivers and used to have the laptop running perfectly..

So what happened now ?!

Answer:Satellite A300-1G5: webcam stopped working - Webcam driver open fail

Hi

I have had a similar error message and could solve this by disabling the webcam software from startup.
In msconfig -> Start Up tab I have unchecked the Chicony webcam software.
This prevents it from automatic loading.
I don?t use MSN but Skype and the Chicony webcam software is always disabled (not executed) if Skype is running.

Maybe you should try this too.

Furthermore you could try this:
Go to device manager, mark the webcam (imaging devices ? USB video device) and deleted it from the device list.
Then reboot the notebook and wait until the webcam has been recognized again.

Then test it.

A few days ago I tried to use my internal webcam, and it would work for a few minutes via Google Hangouts and then freeze. On Skype, it would be detected for a second, then make a sound as if I am unplugging a device (e.g. disabling a driver), and reconnect. Lastly, I reinstalled CyberLink YouCam 3, and now the cam isn't detected at all. Anybody have any ideas as to what it could be?

P.S. If it's a driver issue, does anyone know where one is? I can't find one on the blasted Lenovo site anywhere!

Thanks in advance everyone!

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Y460: Webcam is not detected

Theres 2 different sites for lenovo computers. Look for the one that has the drivers for the different models of ideapad laptops. It might be listed under support drivers and downloads. The other site is for the older ibm computers and thinkpads. It might be listed under laptop integrated webcam or something close to that.Im going to guess that yours came either with windows xp or vista. i had a y530 ideapad that came with vista so there should be the correct drivers for it.

Answer:have ideapad s510p touch and cannot get my webcam to be detected?

hi heminfiver,

Welcome to the Forums.

Can you try the following:
1. Open Device Manager (press Windows key+R > type devmgmt.msc) and check if there's an Imaging Devices area that list a "Lenovo Easy Camera" or similar.
2. On the metro apps, launch Camera and observe if the camera lights up.

If there's no camera listed under Device Manager > Imaging Devices and the camera doesn't lights up, try to:
3. Boot into the BIOS (press Fn+F2 upon restart). When you're in, press Fn+F9 to reset default settings and check if there's a Webcam option in the Configuration Tab. If there's none, press F10 to save and exit BIOS and observe.

If the camera still doesn't work, I recommend you contact lenovo and report the issue.

I have the Y500 running Windows 8 and all of a sudden I got a message from YouCam that there was no webcam recognized.  I looked at the Device Manager and I do have the Lenovo EasyCamera driver under Imaging Devices and Cyberlink Webcam Virtual Device driver under the Sound, Video and Game controllers and both devices are operating properly according to Device Manager.  So I went to the Win 8 Metro screen and ran the Microsoft Camera app and the webacam was recognized, the light went on and I could see myself on the screen.  So it appears the Microsoft Camera App recognizes the webcam but any program in Desktop mode (I also tried other programs called OmniJoin and JoinMe) does not.  I have tried using the latest drivers from Lenovo and made the mistake of installing the latest version of YouCam (30 day trial) to try and fix but get the same results.  Any thoughts on what the problem could be?   Also another question... YouCam was already installed on the laptop and after I needed to delete it in order to install the latest version from Cyberlink, I went to the D: drive and looked for the app there to reinstall the original and it is not there.  I then went to the Lenovo Software and Support for the ideapad Y500 and it is not downloadable either.  Where can I download the app from Lenovo that is made for my laptop?

What should be happening: I plug in my headset to my controller on my windows 7 x64 PC (wired controller)
and sound comes out of the headset and not the computer

What is happening: No new device shows in device manager underneath sound video and game controllers audio

Problem: not able to use headphones on my controller

How do i solve this problem? When I restart my computer or "scan for new hardware devices" nothing happens and i dont get a headset audio device showing up

And it also doesnt appear in volume control icon > right click > playback devices
so i cant enable it there even when (show hidden/disabled devices) is enabled.

Answer:Xbox One Headset Device not detected in device manager

Hi realflow100,

what USB port are you plugging in the Headset in? I've noticed that sometimes depending on if you plug the headset in a USB2 or 3 port matters for some devices.

What is the audio driver you have for the moment, if you haven't got the latest here is the Acer support download page for your PC:

In Win7 I'd do Device Manager > Imaging Devices > USB 2.0 PC Camera to find my USB WebCam and activate it and de-activate the monitor's built-in camera.

But in Win10 Device Manager has no listing for Imaging Devices.
Where in Win10 can I enable and disable webcams?

Answer:Can't Find WebCam Device in Device Manager

Yes, win 10 has imaging devices, when it detects them, which is your issue and why it's not showing up there.

If USB cam is plugged in and no entry, either install the cam's software and retry, or it may not be compatible with 10.

Im not exactly sure what has happened but my cd drive is no longer listed in the Device Manager and therefore my laptop will no longer recognize cd's. Can anyone help me either reset my laptop back to a previous date or reinstall drivers for the cd drive.
Thank you

Answer:cd drive no longer in Device Manager

cjradioCan someone help me to reisntall drivers
Probably no driver to install. There is firmware but I doubt that would help. You would need to provide the full model name of your laptop and its operating system for us to provide specific driver info.
You could try reseating the device (pull it out and reinstall it).
cjradiomaybe restore back to a previous date
In the Windows search box type system restore. Pick an earlier date to restore to.
Try posting on our Disk Drives discussion board. Tell them the model name etc.

Hello there. I have done something that is rather foolish. I have a Turtle Beach z22 headset, and I read that the USB cord for the headset doesn't work well with USB 3.0 ports, so I decided make an attempt to run the drivers for USB 2.0 on my USB 3 port. However, this didn't work the way I expected. The reason for trying to have the port run the 2.0 drivers is because it's the only port next to my audio jack, and in order to use a 2.0 port I would have to reach my USB cord all the way across my keyboard. My USB 3.0 driver for the port no longer appears in my device manager, and whenever I plug anything into the port, my laptop no longer registers it. Is there any way to get the USB 3.0 drivers running again?

Answer:USB 3.0 drivers no longer appearing in Device Manager

Try to run systen restore prior to change was made.

My apologies if this is not the right forum. I have a Toshiba Satellite C875 (S7205) with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. The laptop comes with a Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller LAN connection. The LAN card worked fine for about 3 months and then suddenly stopped working last week. Not only that, it disappeared from Device Manager, too. I can connect to the Internet through wireless, but prefer the ethernet connection. Here's what I have done so far to try to solve the problem:

1) Run virus and rootkit scans - no problems found

2) Downloaded the Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller driver from the Toshiba website and tried to install it - the file unzips and begins to install and then just disappears, like it can't find any device to install itself on

3) Disabled and re-enabled the LAN card in BIOS

4) Reset BIOS to factory settings

5) Selected "Show Hidden Devices" in Device Manager, selected the Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller, uninstalled, and rebooted to see if the card would reinstall -- it didn't, and now it doesn't even show up in Device Manager when I select "Show Hidden Devices" - I tried installing the driver again after this got same result as above

Using NirSoft NetworkInterfacesView, I can see the Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller - it has a red light and the status is "hardware disconnected"

I'm beginning to think the card has either become physically disconnected or has gone bad.

Any help or advice ... Read more

My 2 year old Win-7 64 bit, SP-1 PC no longer detects the DVD drives. Not sure when the trouble started, as I haven't used them very often. I'm guessing about 3 months ago was the last time I used them. At that time they both worked. Now they don't nor do they show up in Device Manager either. It only lists my Card Reader types. I couldn't find anything wrong, so I installed two new Asus drives, same thing! Tray opens, green light comes on as if they are working. Windows Fix-it, apparently don't recognize them either as no error was found.
I checked BIOS they aren't listed. Boot order has the HD and then the card reader (SD,SM MS etc) never seen that before? Not the way I set it up??
Note: old drives where Sony and ASUS. New ones are ASUS DVD DRW-24F1ST-49

CPU=AMD FX-6300 Six Core
Chipset = AMD 990X/SB950
MEMORY 4x DIMM 32GB

No viruses have been found.
I have not installed any new software, or hardware in the last 12 months. Fact is I'm in my 70s and have not been up to using the computer much in the past few months.
I would just re-install windows if i could. would need OS on a flash drive
thanks for any help

Answer:DVD drives is no longer in My computer or the Device manager

Hi,

Stage 1 : Please do all the below even if you have done some before as it is often the total
process which solves the issue.

Try this - Control Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click the device - Driver's Tab -
click Update Drivers (this will likely do nothing) - then RIGHT CLICK the drive - UNINSTALL -
REBOOT this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if drive is not shown continue
below.

Then work your way through these - remember the drive could be bad, could have a loose
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

So, my webcam works fine, except for the built in microphone. It is a Logitech 'Quickcam for Notebooks Pro' which is a bit outdated. I looked for the most up-to-date software but I guess they don't have drivers specifically tailored to handle Windows 7.

Anyways, my webcam mic shows up in the device manager and is not disabled, but for some reason, it doesn't show up anywhere else, most importantly in the sound settings, under recording devices. What is the issue here? Thanks in advance for any help

When I first got my Compal JFL92 4 years ago the webcam worked perfectly. About a year later I was attempting to use MSN Messenger and I was told I did not have a webcam installed, I looked in the Device Manager and I did not see it listed there at all.
Several months ago I was having BSOD's which was caused by the webcam driver I had at the time, I fixed it by deleting the driver file.
Some research on the internet suggested using a program called Device Doctor. After installing the program detected the webcam and I installed a driver for it, still nowhere to be found.
Windows Vista sp2 installed

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Webcam Central is the software, you will still need the driver for the webcam. is this a USB camera? When you plug it in you should be prompted in the notification area of a hardware change and have the option to install the driver.

Hello,

Since today, the webcam on the laptop of my wife is not working anymore.

I checked the device manager and I have a USB Unknown Device; so I have downloaded the drivers from the Toshiba website.
After installation, the web cam HD is appearing in the Imaging section.
When I launch the Toshiba software "web camera application" it light up the camera then blackout.

I check back the device manager, USB Unknown Device is back in the list and " HD camera" disappear..

Of course, I would like to avoid the reinstall

Answer:Satellite C870-14T and Win7 - webcam not detected - USB Unknown Device

It is not easy to say what is wrong there especially if the cam is detected by the system again and again. It looks like system can detect connected device but it is confusing for me why preinstalled driver cannot works properly.

At first try please to enter BIOS settings and check if there is option for webcam. If yes be sure it is enabled properly.
Try please to repeat action with driver installation just to see if the same will happen again.
In case that webcam is recognized properly again try to test it with other webcam application like Skype. Does the same happen again?

Ok. So here's the deal. My DVD/RW drive was acting funky for quite a bit. Every time I inserted a blank DVD the system suddenly rebooted. It flustered me so much. So I figured it must be a hardware issue. So I opened up my case and checked the cables - unplugged and plugged. Rebooted the PC, yet it still did it. So I went to Windows Update and downloaded all the necessary, and optional, updates. Even under the hardware portion of it. However, none of those updates fixed the issue at hand. So I checked the Device Manager and it isn't even detected. Only my CD/RW is. What gives? It plays DVDs fine. So what do you suggest could fix this? I'm stumped, not to mention frustrated with the whole thing.

Another weird thing is that Nero's InfoTool detects the drive fine.

BTW: The drive is a TDK DVDRW0404N.

I have an Ideapad U530 Touch running windows 8.1. I accidentially disabled the Nvidia GeForce GT730M graphics card and no I cannot get it back. When I initially disabled like an idiot I lost most video capabilities as the only thing I saw was a very dark screen. I rebooted and the computer would just load to a blue screen. I was able to get into BIOS and change to UMA only which allowed me to at least get back on the computer. However, now the Nvidia card is not being detected as being on the computer. Is there a way to re-enable it? The display is now running on the Intel set up but it is very fuzzy and I would prefer to have it back running like it used to. Thanks

Answer:Nvidia GeForce GT730M Graphic Card No longer Detected on Lenovo Ideapad U530 Touch Laptop

Hi adlb1300,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Switching to UMA will disable it physically leaving it undetected by the computer.
Switch it back to Switchable or auto then I suggest you perform a Factory recovery to have the proper dirver on it.
Afte switching it back to Switchable in BIOS Turn the system OFF and press the Onekey Recovery Button to boot into recovery.

I just bought a Logitech webcam and when I installed it and tried to use it, it kept telling me that it was in use by another program. I logged onto my Yahoo messenger to see if it would work there and it did, briefly, then I got a white screen. It worked with my Windows scanner and camera wizard too, but it will not come up when I open the Logitech control panel for it. I went into the troubleshooting section of the help menu and it had me go into my device manager to see if there were other imaging devices installed. There weren't any that I could find but I did see that 6 of the devices under my sound, video and game controllers had a yellow exclamation point error next to them. Here are the devices showing errors and it is all the same error.

Microsoft Kernel Acoustic Echo Canceller
Microsoft Kernel DRM Audio Descrambler
Microsoft Kernel GS Wavetable Synthesizer
Microsoft Streaming Clock Proxy
Microsoft Streaming Quality Manager Proxy
Microsoft Streaming Service Proxy

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

It reccomends that I uninstall them and reinstall them but I am not sure where to find the programs because I do not have any of the discs or anything that these may have come on. I bought the PC as is.

Can anyone help me with this? I would really love to get this stupid webcam working and fix these errors.

Answer:Webcam issues and errors in my device manager

Hi arianaetain, and welcome to TSF.

First of all, maybe you should visit Windows update. Click >>> all programs >>> Windows Update. Download and install all high priority updates, then you will probably have to restart your computer.

Go back to device manager and see if the yellow question marks are still there. If they are, go back to Windows update and after it has checked to see if any updates are available for your machine, look in the pane on the left, you should see something like "software updates, (optional)", select them and click review and install updates. You will very likely find the driver updates you require there.

Please post back and let me know if this solved your problem.

Hi there

My laptop is a Compaq Presario CQ60-214EM.
I have had it for 2 years and the webcam has always worked. However when I went into Cyberlink YouCam the other day, a message came up saying "no video device detected" and something along the lines of "If you have an integrated camera, make sure it is turned on."

I read up lots of forums and learned about Device Drivers a bit and first went to the Device Manager on my control panel. Nothing about "imaging devices" comes up at all, and nothing has exclamation marks next to it.

I then went to the relevant page on the compaq website, and downloaded the device driver for Cyberlink Youcam, thinking it might be that.. I'm not very good at this and there were no other drivers for a webcam or a camera or anything, this was the closest thing. The system requirements for this driver were "A webcam must be presented during installation. Otherwise the Cyberlink YouCam Software does not install." and I figured I obviously have a webcam, but after installing this driver, it told me that I don't have a webcam, and automatically uninstalled my YouCam.

I have Skype and really want my webcam back working.
Is it possible it has just "failed" because I have looked on hundreds of forums and nothing matches my exact issue!

Answer:Built-in webcam no longer working

Even without it's driver, the webcam device or "unknown imaging device" would still be shown in Device Manager (allbeit with an error symbol). The fact that it's not listed there, combined with the YouCam error message, does point to the webcam being faulty.

You can buy an external, clip-on webcam to get around this. Get a reputable brand, Microsoft, Logitech or Creative.

Hello,

I recently did a system restore of my HP G60-125nr. I checked the webcam to see if it is still functioning via "CyberLink YouCam" and it says "Cannot connect to this video device(USB Camera)". The cam was working perfectly fine before the system restore.

One thing I noticed, it's not a USB Device, so why is it being recognized as this? It is integrated not hooked to a USB Hub. I'm guessing this is the way it is supposed to be?

In addition, I've been reading every topic across the net that has different solutions to fix the problem. NONE have worked. I reinstalled/updated drivers, installed service packs, updated BIOS information, NOTHING WILL WORK! I'm very frustrated with it.

Anyone have any suggestions? I have an HP G60-125nr with Windows Vista 32-Bit OS. Any help would be amazing, as I'm about to rip the lid off my computer and smash this tiny integrated webcam. Thanks!!

My brother is desperately in need of help. His skype suddenly stopped working. When calls are made, he hears the person but the person doesn't hear him. I checked the speakers and they are fine but the microphone is not working.
The same with the inbuilt webcam. It doesn't initialise and skype doesn't recognise any webcam on the machine. Since the machine is new, I reinstalled windows 7 home thinking that the problem would be solved. But nothing happened. Here are the characteristics of the machine (from my-config.com)

I have some problem with my Amd Driver, I cant install that driver on my laptop and the amd device not showing in device manager, please help me!

Answer:AMD driver not detected in device manager

The AMD graphics device will only be seen in the Device Manager if the AMD graphics is active. Otherwise you will only see the Intel HD Video solution. Why are you trying to upgrade the driver? If you want the switchable graphics to continue working, then definitely do not try upgrading with a driver directly from AMD. Only use the HP supplied AMD video graphics software driver from the support portal driver downloads for the appropriate OS.   The HP driver software has been modified by HP to provide switchable graphics. It also contains the Intel driver. Do not install them seperately.

Hello,

Recently my IDE dvd burner is not showing up in any way in Windows 7 Professional. I have not idea what caused this - it seems to have just randomly disappeared.

I have tried:
Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs
and
DVD drive and cd drive is not detected! - CD-ROM-DVD-ROM - Storage
and probably some other things on the Windows support site. It is not a matter of changing my folder view options.

The drive is plugged in and powered. It opens and closes fine. I can boot from a disk as well, no problems, but in Windows, nothing.

I am at a loss. Regardless of what I try I cannot get this thing to show up anywhere, device manager, my computer, etc.

If anyone has any ideas, I would be much appreciated! If there is an easy fix, it would beat reformatting!

Thanks!

Answer:DVD Burner Not Detected in Device Manager

Welcome to Seven Forums. First thing to try is to see if your BIOS see's your drive, if it is there there are other things to try. Once you have established your BIOS see's it or doesn't see it we can go further in troubleshooting this issue.

Now I can't see the drive at all, so I slaved it to my XP machine to try to savage her data. My bios see the WD 40GB slave drive and windows device manager reconize it and says it is working properly but when I open "My Computer" I only see my "C" drive. Can anyone tell me why I can't see the slave drive so that I can remove her data? Thanks

I recently bought a new Seagate Barracuda 500GB ST500DM002 as a backup drive for my PC. When I connected it using a SATAIII cable it did not show up in my computer. Further investigation revealed that it was detectable in device manager but i could not access it. Is there any way to activate or initialize it? or is it just faulty?

Hey everybody long time lurker first time poster. Unfortunately its because i have a problem. I recently bought a MSI 6950 and i loved it so much i bought a second one, but when i plugged it in i could not activate crossfire, so i removed the 11.2 driver and installed 11.1 when that dident work i did the same and installed 11.4.
when that dident work i went to device manager and to my suprise it only detects one of my cards and not both of them.
My motherboard is crossfire ready, so i my power supply ( seasonic 850W ) and i did the following tests.
Put the first card in the first slot and boot and than in the second slot and boot and the same with the second card, every time it worked but when i put them both in and connect them with 2 crossfire bridges ( i even tried connecting just the one ) it doesnt work. ( the card does get power and works thought because both the fans of the cards are spinning.

Answer:Second 6950 is not detected by device manager.

You may want to check your mobo for possible bios updates, if the device is not being detected properly it could be a bios issue.

I have recently installed Windows98se. Now in Device Manager listing, Under Other device, it showed an Unknown device listed with a yellow exclamation on it. So, I remove that device and restarted my pc. After that on startup, it showed that this wizard will search for drivers for this Unknown device. But I could not find the drivers for this device. So I selected : Display list of devices.

In that I selected Other devices. On clicking next, it showed an Unknown device in the left and Unsupported device in the right box.

I clicked on the Cancel button. Please help...

Ok, time to reach out to those with way more knowledge than me!
Story starts that my iphone is no longer recognized as a device or a drive. I get the "bing bong" when plugging in the usb cable but that is it. No auto play...no itunes popping up. It is not recognized as an external drive or as a device in itunes anymore.
After doing the normal things reaching out to apple, reinstall itunes etc it is thought to be a windows problem. Needs to be solved via device manager. Device manager is empty...zip, nada, el blanko!
Now don't think i've just jumped on this forum or any other and just yelled out help. I've been through everything from simple to complicated. Done everything that everyone has suggested. It is NOT an easy fix.
I'm on an HP laptop 1 year old, I5 processor, 6gb ram running Windows 7 home premium.

Plug n play services are enabled but I do not the option to restart as it is greyed out.
Snap in dev mngmt does not change anything.
Enum permissions cannot be changed...says NO
I am running as an administrator
Safe mode does not show anything
Cannot reset child permissions, it wont let me
Removing all photos from iphone has not solved anything, there are no corrupt files there
I do not have a windows disk, the laptop never came with one so i cannot do a refresh or new install
I am running norton anti virus but disabling firewalls does nothing
I WAS using Norton utilities but someone suggested that could be the issue so i removed it - nothing!

Answer:Device manager list empty, Iphone no longer recognised

IF you are willing to do a full CLEAN OEM reinstall -which may solve your problem as well as get rid of any HP bloatware THEN go to the Tutorials and you will find Gregrocker's excellent article. You can download an ISO of your version of Windows 7 from Digital River and it will work with the Key on the bottom of your G6. You may want to get all of the drivers for this machine from HP's site first, btw.

Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

Doing this will wipe the hard drive and you can also create a simgle partition rather than keep the HP hidden one.
Good luck

Hi

I apologise if this question has already been posted. I have a Satellite C650-1CR; Part number PSC08E-029001EN; Serial Number 7A370192Q; Operating system Windows 7 64 bit.

The webcam, which has previously worked, is now not working in any programme. In MSN it says I have no webcam; in Toshiba Face Recognition it says camera failed to initialise. I have not done anything to it - it has just stopped working. If I click on the Toshiba web camera application from the utilities section nothing happens. The camera is not showing in the device manager - there is no images device shown.

I have read through the advice on here and have downloaded the most up to date driver from here but that will not open. It goes as far as extracting the file but then it won't run or open. I have the most recent BIOS (updated from Toshiba a couple of days ago). If I can avoid it I don't really want to use the recovery disk as I have lots of other things on my laptop which I don't want to lose.

Any advice or help would be really appreciated. My son has just emigrated to Australia and it would be great for me to be able to use the webcam. Hopefully I have given enough information about the laptop and the problem.

Thank you in advance for any help.
Linda

Answer:Satellite C650-1CR - No webcam showing in device manager

Hi buddy,

So if there is no webcam listed in device manager you should check the installed programs in control panel > uninstall a program. Usually the webcam software should be listed there and if yes remove it. Then restart your computer.

To delete everything also run a registry cleaner like CCleaner that can delete old registry keys. It?s freeware tool so no problem to find it using Google. After you have doing this restart your notebook again and then install the newest webcam software from official Toshiba page.

Once again restart and you should be able to use the webcam again. Can you confirm this?

Answer:Re: Can't use webcam - not found in device manager of Satellite L670

Hi

It?s not recognized in device manager?
Do you have some unknown devices in device manager?

The webcam should be listed under the point: Imaging Devices
There you should see USB Video device.

Can you see this?

Hi,

I'm looking for some help with a recently purchased A500-17X running Windows 7 64 bit. The Webcam was working when purchased, but has suddenly stopped functioning. The Web camera application software is up to date with the latest download from the Toshiba website but returns the following message when launched:

"Web Camera initialization failed" Please check you camera device & restart application or computer.

I have checked the Device Manager under Imaging Devices for the webcam & it is not listed (This is my own laptop; I also have a Toshiba laptop provided by employer & this is where the webcam is listed on that one, so I presume it should be listed in the same place!

Does anyone have any suggestions? Could it be a loose connection to the webcam itself, i.e. a warranty issue or is there a software solution to check if the webcam is actually present? I have run scan for new hardware & nothing new is detected.

Thanks in anticipation!

Jon

Answer:Satellite A500-17X - Webcam not listed in device manager

Hi Jon,

At the moment it?s really hard to say why you get this error message. Firstly I would also try to reinstall the webcam driver but you have already done this.
What about BIOS update? Did you try it? In my opinion it?s worth a try and maybe it can help you. You can get it on the Toshiba website too. Before you make the update, update all drivers from zip-archive and close all running programs.

If it doesn?t work I would try reinstalling the OS. Maybe a 3rd party application is blocking the webcam.

In worst case you need professional from an authorized service provider but this should be covered by warranty! :)

Hello My computer information is as follows:

Gateway NV53 Laptop
Ram 4gb
Window 7
CPU: AMD anthelon II dual core processor

The issue that my built in webcam is not recognized by any application including device manager
THe last time i took a picture with the camera was 4/30. So i don't think i can restore all the way back then. I noticed the problem when Skype said it couldn't find the webcam.

Answer:Device Manager and Skype does not recongnize Built-in webcam.

Hi there ... I would try downloading Hardware Vendor Detection .. From the Link below .. There are two Webcam Applications ... I do not know which one is needed .. You might find that Information in the Users Guide which is also in the Link ... You can also use Gateway Recovery Management to Re-Install the Driver

I just bought a Flex 4-1470 about two weeks ago and used the camera once and it worked well. I tried to use it again today and it was not detected by my system. I looked for it in the device manager under "Imaging Devices" but that section didn't exist. I eventually found it by enabling hidden devices and the icon was greyed out and the device Lenovo EasyCam was reported as disconnected, Code 45. I updated the drivers, reinstalled EasyCam, and tried every solution that I could think of or find to no avail. I eventually uninstalled the device thinking that perhaps the device was improperly installed and it disappeared entirely. Now it doesn't appear in the Device Manager at all, even under hidden devices. The option for camera settings doesn't even appear in Lenovo Settings. The best I can figure is that it is internally disconnected which would be absurd since I've only had this laptop for 2 weeks. Are there any solutions that I could have possibly overlooked, short of disassembling the laptop and reconnecting some possibly disconnected cables?
