Alternative intel wifi 5100 driver for HP pavillion DV7 3090...

Question: Alternative intel wifi 5100 driver for HP pavillion DV7 3090...

Dear all, About 2 years ago i upgraded my win 7 to win 10 version and wirelss stopped working. this problem is well known. Many attempts with netsh id config, reset IP, reinstall drivers, trough a USB whatever, nothing worked. I must conclude that the intel WIFI 5100 driver is incompatible with windows 10. I cannot anymore revert my win 10 upgrade sadly. My question is whether i can install an older version or another driver type that is compatible on windows 10 ??? if so i would gladly have the driver link or zip file posted Thanks PS, also my touchpad scrolling feature stopped working, i dont know if this could be related, just in case it could help figuring out where the problem is but i guess its just incompatibility.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Welcome to the forum!

You'll need a modded BIOS in order to use that card in R500. Stock BIOS will not allow the machine to boot with it.

Hi. I just got the Lenovo S205 with the RaLink 3090 series wifi adapter, and had constant dropping until I downloaded the Version 3.2.1 update that was included in the link for the 309X (X is a 0 for me on my wifi card) software/drivers on the RaLink website, under the Support menu. Just go to ralinktech.com and go to Support>Downloads>Windows, and you'll see the list of several RaLink devices that include the 309X adapter. I chose to download/install the full utility along with the driver. As I recall, it may be over 28 megabytes in size.Hope this works for you!

Answer:Lenovo S205 with RaLink 3090 series wifi adapter problems - Driver update 3.2.1 solve?

Update: I uninstalled the RaLink wifi utility that came with the 3.2.1 driver, but it uninstalled the driver too. So I reinstalled and checked the 'install driver only' option,  went to Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Device Manager>Network adapters>Ralink RT3090 802.11n WiFi Adapter>double-click to open up Properties>Power Management tab>uncheck "Allow this computer to turn off device to save power", "OK", closed programs and restarted. Then when I start or awaken the system from sleep, I click on the Wireless Connections icon in the bottom right-hand tray (next to the clock that looks like reception bars on a cell phone), then click on the connection I want to connect to, then click "Connect". While it takes about 8 seconds to connect, it's MUCH more preferable than having the connection constantly drop out, and I've probably had to restart my system only once when it wouldn't reconnect out of a sleep state. I've had MUCH more consistent behavior since this change, and I hope this works well for you too!

Hi Guys,
This is Viral. I am using an Acer laptop model ASPIRE 4736 since the last five years. There haven't been much issues with it. except for the battery and thats it. But recently, since last two weeks I noticed that my Wifi would stop blinking after sometime after I start my laptop and then it wouldn't work even when I try to turn on and turn off the Wifi switch(it doesn't respond anything). I tried searching the net for this issue using my office laptop and found that a system restore would help to solve this issue. Since I remembered that I updated Java as well as there was this ad software which got installed and I had unistalled it. So I did a system restore and then when I opened the device manager, I am not able to see intel r wifi link 5100 driver on it. I tried restarting my laptop and did everything and couldn't find the driver(it was there before the system restore). But later on the same day, the driver got installed automatically and the WiFi started working but only for a couple of minutes after the restart and then it stopped. So  I did the system restore again to the date when everything was working perfectly and when i did that, again my intel r wifi link 5100 driver is not shown on the device manager(network adapters). I don't if it would automatically get installed or not but its sure that the WiFi issue still be there. So can you please help with this issue?

I have a Sony Vaio with intel 5100 AGN wireless adapter & Vista OS.

The problem I have is that 9 times out of 10 it will not connect to my home or office wireless network. Eventually it does, though only after switching the adapter on and off several times or rebooting the machine. Sometimes I also have to restart the wireless router.

It will always seem to connect in that I get the connected icon in the notification area (though often without the internet globe symbol) though it will not connect to the net or to any other machine or printer on the network.

Some other useful info:
Both the home and office routers are the same model (Comtrend) and both work fine with other PC's

I often have bluetooth problems also - can take a while for bluetooth to start (I use a bluetooth mouse) and I have 3 unknown bluetooth peripheral devices in device manager

I have McAfee internet security installed

I have tried:
Disabling the firewall
Removing and readding the wireless and bluetooth devices
Disabling IPv6
Driver & OS update
A clean install

Nothing has resoved this issue which is becoming a pain as I can now spend up to half an hour each time trying to connect.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Answer:Wifi connectivity with intel 5100 AGN

Hi -

The Intel 5100 is one of the best wifi's available. I have one in this system and it performs flawlessly.

I think you'll find McAfee to be the problem here. I suggest that you remove it. Download the McAfee Removal Tool (MRT) to your desktop. RIGHT-click on the MRT icon, select "Run as Admin". When it finishes, re-boot.

MRT - http://download.mcafee.com/products/...tches/MCPR.exe

Then reset the Windows Firewall to its default settings -
START | type FirewallSettings.exe into the start search box | click on FirewallSettings.exe above | select the Advanced Tab | click on "Restore Defaults" | Click Apply, OK

Use AVG for a/v if you wish - http://free.avg.com/download-avg-ant...s-free-edition

Make sure that you have the most recent Intel 5100 wifi driver. Go to Intel's site -

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Prod...ProductID=3062

You can check your system manufacturer's site, but I have found they are ususlly 8-12 months behind.

Hello! I have a R500 Series ThinkPad with the Intel 5100 AGN WiFi adapter. The driver for the card has been updated as of today (September 7, 2010). I have a D-Link DIR 655 WiFi router (replacing an old Linksys 54g WiFi router). The firmware of the router has also been updated today. I'm running the router under the WPA-2 standard with AES cipher type, channel width of 40 Mhz on 802.11n mode only with auto channel scan (just as Intel is recommanding). I also followed Intel indications for the WiFi card. Problem is : the laptop just can't connect to the WiFi network...? I tried all sort of things, but to no avail. Can anyone help? Note that when I tried  to use the router under WPA with TKIP and AES as cipher type, the laptop was able to connect at the slow 54 Mbps rate. Thanks.

Recently, my Intel Wifi 5100 has stopped working on windows. For no appearant reason, Windows decided that my Wifi card is not good enough to be read. When i open my Device Manager, my Ethernet port shows up, but the Wifi card does not. The wierd part is that the Wifi card gets read in "Splashtop" which came on my laptop. I can use Wifi on the Linux bases OS, but not windows. I've tried installing all drivers, but Windows refuses to acknowledge the presence of my card. Any clue on how to fix this?

Answer:Serious Intel Wifi 5100 problem

Hey, welcome to Vista Forums!
Assuming the wireless card is removable, you could try re-seating the wireless card, also, you could take the card out, and boot, then shut down, and put the card back in, then boot and see if it made any difference.

If it's not removable, check to make sure any wireless switches are turned on.

Please post back with what you have tried, or even if you managed to fix the problem and how!
Hope this helps,
Daniel

Ok I have a Asus G60VX thats less than a year old running windows 7. On Friday (three days ago) the system was working fine, I could connect to the internet and everything. Tonight when i turned on my laptop it showed that i couldn't connect to the internet. So i rebooted both my computer and router thinking it was my brother playing Xbox live. It still didn't work. So i tried the usual suspects: deleted the saved file and made a new one, went into the device manager and made sure there weren't any problems (there weren't), i even tried doing a system restore but to no avail. I tried the Fn combo on my keyboard and the switch on the front but this still didn't work. After three hours searching for a solution on my desktop (which can access the internet fine) I kinda want to take a sledge hammer to the thing. :) So at this point i'm begging for a solution! thanks!

Answer:Problem with Intel WiFi link 5100?

Hi.

Did you install any iTunes or Apple software before this happened?

For now, try resetting the network protocol tcp/ip stack. In an elevated command prompt, copy and paste this then hit enter:

Code:
netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
Then do the same for this command:

Code:
netsh winsock reset
Reboot and test the connection. If still no good, go into Internet Explorer.

Tools | Internet Options | Connection | Lan Settings

and make sure there are no checked boxes. Then ok your way out a few times. Reopen IE and test.

If still no good, please respond about the Apple, iTunes software and/or do you have mdnsresponder.exe in the task manager?

My computer is running on Windows 7 Professional 32bit. It has worked fine for the last 2 years. But recently, my wifi card has started me giving me problems. It detects the wireless networks but connects to them only for around 10-15 minutes after which the connection is not even visible in the list. Then after 30-40 minutes, it can connect but the same problem is there.

Also, I tried to make my own ad-hoc connections and saved them. These connections do work and my friends are able to connect to it and the connection remained active for hours. I did it to check whether the Wifi card is working or not. It does work but only with the outgoing connections that are made by my computer. The networks that in range and are giving problem with my wifi card are working fine for my friends. So, I guess it is not the network's problem.

When I tried troubleshooting it, it gave the problem 'Problem with wireless adapter or access point'. I also tried installing all different driver versions and rollbacking to the default version for my wireless card but the same problem is there. Although in device manager, It says the device is working properly.

Please help me in solving this problem. Exact name of WiFi Card in Device Manager- Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN

The same complaints and problems with this 5100AGN adaptor has been around for a long time.

There are countless threads about this on the internet. It seems that disabling the 802.11n Only setting in the routers settings and running in mixed wireless mode can help. Updating the drivers can also help, try the Intel site. > Intel? Driver Update Utility

There are plenty of long threads about this ongoing problem with some possible solutions, so your not alone.

Bump, srry i need help, here are the settings.

hello ebartolon...
it's still is but remember this is a free forum....
since airbot already gave you the lecture on the bumping threads im not going to go into that...
but what i can tell you to do in the throughput enhancement to turn it on...
also in wireless mode put it to 802.11n as i believe right now you are using 802.11g and not using the n spec...

also even in ideal situations you are not going to get the throughput specified in the n spec or advertised...
it says *up to* because that is the maximum speed that it will go and usually the hardware never reaches that speed....

I have a W500 (i.e. product type 4058), with an Intel 5100 Wifi Link 5100 AGN adapter, running Vista 64 SP2 currently running 802.11G. I want to replace my current router with an "802.11N" but want to know whether my current laptop configuration will enable this change to wireless "N"..Can anyone advise me whether I can:        a) upgrade my router only (i.e. to N)....with the current laptop config ?        b) upgrade my router and upgrade this laptop hardware internally to "N" ?? (is this possible or cost prohibitive ?)        c) or is my only alternative to upgrade the router and purchase a Lan Adapter card for this laptop ??? (Note: I have suspicions that my laptop will NOT allow wireless "N" because after updating the 5100 adapter with the most current driver from Lenovo (i.e. 13.1.1.1, dated 1/13/2020), I find that this drivers' properties only provide wireless a, b, and g protocol choices for selection.....no "N" choice is available.) I am not sure whether this laptop's configuration is not capable of "N" or whether some driver and/or parameter is incorrectly set. Does anyone know for certain????(Incidentally, I have also updated this laptop with all required Microsoft Vista and Lenovo 64 bit SP2 drivers.).Thank you for your help.Regards,drc123

Answer:W500 w/Intel Wifi 5100 AGN compatible w/802.11n ?

Drc123, the Intel 5100 card does support 802.11n at both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, but isn't a very strong performer. For more info, see the following FAQ:I've seen websites that mention other Intel WiFi cards -- what about those cards? What is 802.11n WiFi, and why is it any better than the older 802.11b or g WiFi?I have an HP or Lenovo netbook -- can I swap a better WiFi card into it?BUYING AN 802.11N WIRELESS ROUTER - KNOW THE FOLLOWING OR SUFFERIf you're NOT able to use the Intel 5100 card to connect to an 802.11n router that's sitting next to you, then you probably have a driver issue. I've been having issues with my laptop and its wifi card for the past couple of months. It's an Intel WiFi Link 5100 and my internet just randomly stops working, other computers and devices still work fine, but on my computer I cannot browse the internet (however sometimes downloads don't stop for some reason). Updated my drivers, turning it off and on does nothing, and I'm pretty sure it's not my firewall but next time the internet stops working i'll make sure.

When I say it randomly stops working I mean I'll turn the computer on it will work for a bit then just stop then a little bit later it will work. No other computers or devices experience those kind of pulses here.

I purchased a T400 (which I LOVE so far) but like a fool, didn't opt for the 5300 3x3 WiFi for $15 more... after some post purchase research, I'd much rather have the extra antennae's for picking up those barely in wifi signals around my house.   Does anyone know if the 5300 card can simply be plugged in to replace the 5100?  It all comes down to whether the 3 antennae's are installed on ALL models, with the connectors ununsed when a laptop comes with the 5100.  Anyone know the answer to this? Regards,-Owen

Howdy

I recently started an internship in Egypt about a week ago. When I first got here the wireless internet worked fine (albeit a bit slow) in my apartment and around the campus. However last thrusday the Wifi on my laptop quit working. I have a Intel Wifi Link 5100 AGN that has Windows 7 RC on it right now. The adapter picks up the signal but when you try and connect it gives 'limited connectivity " = no internet. I tried using the Troubleshooter but when used it just says that The Diagonostic Policy service is not running and therefore it cannot fix the the problem. I was wondering if anyone had a solution to this problem.

Thanks

try this either set a hard coded dns

or hard code the ip if you know what your network ip address numbers are
that your access point uses

so say some thing like
this is very very common here

IP: 192.168.1. 100-150
SUBNET: 255.255.255.0
GATEWAY:192.168.1.1

and find a dsn server

dont use them numbers there just make sure that your using the right set for the network that your connecting too
i have the same card in my laptop and its a work horse and some

also is the network that your connecting too secure make sure you have your settings right

Hello, I'm trying to get wifi working on my x200, but nothing I try seems to work. Initially, in XP or Windows 7, the card wasnt even detected, so wouldn't come up in the unrecognized devices section in device manager.  I installed/uninstalled the drivers several times but nothing changed. I then opened up the Thinkpad and moved the wifi card from the first slot to the second.  Upon booting, in Windows 7 and again in xp, the card was recognised, but a code 10 error came up. I've tried replacing the wlan card with one from an R60, but the x200's boot software prevented the PC from booting up. Can anyon help? Thanks John

Answer:X200 and Intel Wifi Link 5100

Update to my first note.  After a day of installing countless drivers, bios updates and whatever else.  I'm pleased to say that my x200 is now woking in XP with wifi on the 5100. The PCI slot the 5100 card was in to start with did not register any device to be present.  The second slot, recognised the card but gave a code 10 error. I also followed the steps outlined in: kbartke's post on resolving the code 10 on 5100 issue.  That had no immediate effect, but may have eventually solved the problem. I also updated the bios to 3.02. The strange thing that seemed to work was changing the machine's name.  Once restarted, the wifi light came on. I now have to figure out how to get rid of all the bloatware i managed to install in my attempts to get this working... John

Hi, since my WLAN Card seems to be broken I bought myself a new Intel Wifi Link 5100 for my W500. After I replaced the old card with the new one, I get a "1802 unauthorized network card error".I googled for the problem an now I am completely pissed about lenovo. My W500 has a standard slot for such cards, but the W500 has a bios which checks cards against a whitelist and I cannot turn this completely useless check off.Any idea what I could do?2 weeks ago I started thinking about buying a new notebook after christmas. Now I wonder, whether the W530 suffers from the same problem. In the moment I am not sure, whether it makes any sense to buy another lenovo product, when it turns out, it could be crippled the same way as my W500. So does anybody know, whether the W530 suffers the same problem. A last question? What happens, when I plug a WLAN-Stick into USB? Must it also be authorized by lenovo and how do I find out, which products are authorized? Thanks in advance Thomas

Answer:W500 and Intel Wifi Link 5100

welcome to the community.

sorry for your troubles.
afaik, all ThinkPads of at least the last 5(?) or more generations have had a BIOS whitelist for mPCI/e WLAN / WWAN options. as i understand it, this is due to getting approvals from numerous "Communications" regulatory agencies around the world for the cards. unfortunately, i've never seen the whitelists published anywhere, so we normally go by the FRU #s included in hardware maintenance manuals when folks ask for advice on compatible cards.

re: the USB WLAN stick, you should have no issue similar to a whitelist block.

regards.

Hi I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FW11E Laptop with an Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN.
On the front is a switch to turn of the Wireless adaptor & a little green light that goes out when you switch it off.
Normally when I turn on the computer it comes on automatically but sometimes it does not & when I look at Device manager it is missing. The only way I can fix it is to turn the computer off & on again. Sometimes I have to do this several times before it will work.
It also goes off by itself if the computer is left on for any length of time without being used.

any ideas ?

Hi,

I believe the SIM card slot is in the battery bay.  Remove the battery to access.

That Intel 5100 is a wifi card, not a wwan card.  Do you also have a wwan card installed, or is that what you are asking about?

Information on both (SIM and wwan card installation) is in the hardware maintenance manual: Hardware Maintenance Manual - T400 & R400

I have an Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN and it keeps crashing my laptop. I would be working and my screen would freeze randomly and my computer would remain unresponsive. This only happens when I turn on my laptop's wireless card and put it to use.

I tried multiple drivers but the newer ones froze my computer faster. I recently did a fresh install of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and it still does the same.

Uninstalling the driver and rebooting while letting Windows install a default driver yields the same results.

Much help needed!

The speed is about 130Mbps insted of 300Mbps, but in Vista it was working at 300Mbps.

I am new here. I'm not even sure if this question is in the correct forum (I hope so). I have a Toshiba Satellite A305 laptop that I purchased a few months ago. In the last month, the wireless connection has been dropping like mad ! And more recently, when it drops, it says it can't find any wireless networks. I then have to perform a hard shut off (by holding the power button till it powers down) and wait a few minutes to turn it back on. I have uninstalled the wireless adapter and then reinstalled it and that didn't work either. Also, all the drivers are up to date. I am very frustrated at this point and don't know what to do. Any help that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated !!

Thanks !!

Answer:Intel Wireless WiFi Link 5100 problem

It is always a VERY good idea to check the microfilters (if using ADSL) which are fitted into your phone sockets and make certain that you have microfilters in any socket in the house. Microfilters are very cheap to get hold of and its worth having a few spare.

This has been happening for the past three days. I just recently bought a laptop, the Toshiba Satellite A305-S6898, with Intel? WiFi Link 5100.

I would be just surfing on the internet and then the WiFi link would randomly just stop working. I would go to the available connections window, and the network i'm connected to would say 'Connected with limited connectivity', and then it would disconnect and then it would not be able to detect any networks, even though it previously did before. I know it's not a network problem because the same problem occured on two different networks I have set up in two different places. The device manager does not report anything wrong with it, and I did not randomly turn off the wifi for any reason. I would have to reset my laptop in order to fix the problem.

i slapped on vista ultimate 32, the intel 5100 will be in device manager without any problems.  the only for me to get the blue led to light up again is to do a uninstall in device manager and reboot.  vista will then detect new hardware and reintall the wifi all over again.  this does work but to do it every week suck.  i dont want to buy a new internal or external card either.  this happen to anyone else?

Answer:Y430 intel 5100, blue wifi led doesn't come on. Not fn + f5 problem either.

To clarify, the wireless works, but the blue LED doesn't and the fix you described only temporarily fixes it?  Have you installed all the other drivers as well; the ones located on the d:/ drive?

Hello everyone,

It is my first thread on this forum and I want to thank you because you indirectly help me so many times.

I just installed new bios 1.25 on my notebook because of usb issues. Everything works fine but suddenly my wifi device stops working on windows 7.
It is well installed, the connection under Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections is enabled, but It doesn't see any WiFi spot.

It is not a device hardware problem because it works under ubuntu.

I tried all the usual ways: reinstall drivers etc but nothing happens.

I don't want to reinstall my OS because I'll have too many settings to restore after.

Is there anyone experiencing the same problem? Anyone who fixed it?

Am looking for a hardware solution: Pavilion DV7 1270 usUPGRADED TO WIN 10  64bit from WIN 7 64bit My current WIFI Wireless/Bluetooth card is an INTEL WIFI LINK 5100 agn. ( Original card) This is NOT SUPPORTED in Win 10... WIFI  no longer works. There are no solutions offered in HP Web assistance or via INTEL or MICROSOFT. I would simply like to find a compatible(upgrade) card that works in this system  with WIN 10? The card is accessible and replaceable ( in RAM Bay... as i remember) INTEL no longer supports this card (to and through win 10) HP Laptops are notoriously finicky with WIFI card replacements...? Short of adopting a usb dongal WIFI/BLUETOOTH option, I would like to effect an internal upgrade to the original card... seems simple enough? Thank You for whatever guidance you might afford

Answer:after win 10 upgrade, intel wifi link 5100 no longer support...

Hi: You may be able to get the card to work if you fiddle with some of the advanced settings on the advanced tab for the card in the device manager. I have 3 HP business notebooks...one has the Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3965ABG card, one has the Intel Intel WiFi Link 4965AG card, one has the Intel WiFi Link 5300 wireless card. The first two I didn't have to do anything to make them work. The 5300...device is present in the device manager saw wireless networks but would not connect when I clicked connect. I went into the advanced settings tab and I think I enabled WMM and the card works just fine and has so ever since. Try tweaking one of the settings in the advanced settings tab. I wish I remembered exactly which setting I changed that made it connect. I was ticked off, so I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing. Could not understand why two older cards worked perfectly and the newer one wouldn't. Changing the wireless card would be extremely problematic as you are limited to just the cards listed in the service manual and half the time the ones listed in the manual cause the notebook not to boot up until the card is removed. Also, if you can't get the Intel 5100 to work, you can forget any of the others listed working on W10. I am very sure that changing one of those advanced settings will allow the 5100 card to work.

Hi,

I just bought a Sony Vaio with Intel Wireless WiFi Link 5100 Network Adapter.

I primarily use the notebook at my home & office network.
Home Network Router: Linksys WRT54G
Office Network Router: Beetel 450BXi (ADSL2+Modem)

The issue am facing is while am on to the network (mostly home network) suddenly it goes into limited connectivity & gets disconnected; while other PC's remain connected.

And then you have to either re-install the Wireless LAN driver or re-start numerous times.

This has been happening regularly. Pls assist in resolving the issue.

This is a new machine (to me). It is a T-500 2242CTO with an Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN card and a fresh install of Windows 7 64-bit.  I successfully VPN using Ethernet from this machine and wirelessly from other machines in my home network.  However, wireless VPN connectivity from this machine fails 100% of the time.  Current drivers and updates are installed.  I am using the Windows VPN client and receive the following message: Error 800: The remote connection was not made because the attempted VPN tunnels failed.  I turned on logging and found no useful information, to me, in the mounds of data generated.  I've also un-installed the wireless driver, re-installed it, un-installed Lenovo Access Connections and the same error continues.  Has anyone encountered this issue or have suggested fixes?

Hello. We are receiving T400 laptops.  These laptops do not hold a wireless connection for any length of time.  They also have a hard time connecting at boot up.  Item that have been tried...01) Removed and re-installed Drivers.02) Removed and reinstalled Access Connections. (Leap Authorization is used)03) Removed and replaced the Wireless Card. FRU 43Y6943. We are using Windows Xp with SP 2.  The laptop runs fine and we have no complaints with the exception of the wireless.  I might mention that we had the same issue with T61 Models.  To resolve this issue, we removed the B/G/N card and installed B/G cards.  We do not utilize "N" Band, so we do not need this capability.  I was looking for a way to do the same to the T400 Laptops, but I am unable to find a compatible B/G card to use.  The BIOS generates the 1082 error if we attempt to use a card that is not approved for the model.  Any assistance would be appreciated... Thanks. I have a Gateway FX series 17" laptop and yesterday when I got home from university and took the computer out of my bag to start working, the wireless card just didnt exist, no networks were recognized and when i tried to troubleshoot it told me that no device was connected. Wired internet works just fine. And the wireless card appears in the device manager.

methods i have tried to no avail:
-turning the wireless switch on and off
-uninstalling the device and rebooting
-updating drivers
-manually downloading driver from Intel's website
-insulting the device's mother

I'm suspecting this might be a hardware issue but if anyone has some advice that would be great. For the time being I am just using a wired connection but I'm going to need the wireless when I'm. back in class

,Thanks guys

I saw the version for my intel wifi link 5100 to be of version 12+ but i understand that the latest driver is version 13. I downloaded the latest firmware from the internet and intel website but after updating/reinstalling, the driver is still version 12+. I really need to update the driver as I need to access my wireless network desperately and my T400 cannot allow me to do that. Any ideas?

We're in hospital, she's I'll, I am 24/7 carer.

My Vostro 1720 connects promptly at home, WiFi or LAN.

Hospital has public use WiFi provided on each floor. Transmitter has TP-Link on the cover and twin aerials.

The Vostro can see transmitters for 4 floors, the signals come & go and, regularly disappear.

2 iPads & an iPhone stay connected unless, the signal disappears, in the same room. Signals are described as excellent or good.

The Vostro when I bring it in, after using at home, connects automatically. Twice has reached the stage when all 3 links I can see with a decent signal, can't connect, sometimes get asked for the password, run trouble shooter multiple times with no success. First time internet connection worked for 2 days, 2nd time for an hour, then couldn't log on to any link.

I'm puzzled why the Vostro doesn't hold the connection and the IOS devices do.

Public holiday over in a couple of days and I plan to catch the lady chief of the hospital and the IT manager.

I would be most grateful for queries, comments or, references to help in these encounters.

Thank you and regards

Acer Aspire 5930g laptop with Intel 5100 WiFi adapter. Been testing Win 10 Tech Preview, switched off WiFi via built-in system switch and since than it completely disappeared from the laptop. Which means when I press WiFi button on the laptop there's no light, the adapter itself is missing from the system ? even in hidden devices. But all the other buttons (Bluetooth, browser) work well. I've tried switching back to Win7, running WinXP from LiveCD, various Linux distribs ? no result. Tried other adapters (all of them Intel), it didn't help. Actually the system found Intel WiFi/WiMAX, but only WiMAX drivers were installed. Tried flashing BIOS, also didn't help. Been advised to install native ACPI utility with hardware buttons drivers. While trying to find it I stumbled upon a software called Acer Drivers Update Utility. It's a third-party software which scans devices and proposes to download driver updates for them. For some money.Yet while scanning it found the card (at least, listed it among devices). When I was scanning the laptop was connected via LAN, and after scanning Windows notificated about installing some bridge and PCI drivers. The button was working, and so was the WiFi card. The next day, when I opened my laptop (as far as I remember, I didn't switch it off then), WiFi disappeared again. I've tried reinstalling the system and repeat the "magic" with Update Utilty, but failed. Of course, I've tried force-installing the driver... Read more

Recently completed a custom install of Windows 7 64bit version. Have installed all the Windows updates and drivers from HP.

My wireless adapter will connect to my network with static ip address set manually but the 'automatically detect settings' option will not work and I receive the message "Unidentified Network" in the task bar.

Then I wonder if Lenovo 3000 N500 4233 series supports N network with the following network card Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN.When I linked up with Rauter with N, so I got a speed of about 65 Mbps, but far away from thespeed of 100-130 Mbit/s +.I have spoken to Lenovo and received a reply to update drivers on all that goes too uppdate and see if it works. If I do not find them at Lenovo, I would go to Intel and Microsoft homepage to see if there were any new drivers.Slowly and soil, I made it and found newer drivers for the network card but to no avail.I spoke with Lenovo again and got the answer that it could not do more because the card was 65 Mbps, which is certain to N working. In other words, nothing is broken can not be repaired, even if it onlyperforms 1/4 of what it should be!I was still unhappy, I could go back to the medamarkt and return the machine.I wonder how somone can say something like that when intel WiFi Link 5100 AGNshall work up to 300 Mbps while It can't get more then 65 Mbits/s.For if I have 65 then I am on N linkage because the G only goes up to 54 Mbit/s.The most strange is that not only was the serier of Lenovo 3000 N500, having problems with Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGNnot performing as it should. The answer I got was to either leave or wait until someone will solve the problem (Lenovo,Intel or Microsoft).Plus I have age machinery that works good in 130 Mbits/s without problems while a new can not?Strange thinking about this.So what do you do?Someone who knows ... We have fairly new HP DV7T laptops, with the internal Intel Wifi Link 5100 AGN card..

We have been through 3 access points at this point, i just now confirmed that i dont think our issue is access point related, at least not the type etc...

Frequently these laptops will suddenly not find ANY networks (wireless ones) to connect to..

Other laptops (dell, asus, iphones) still work fine during these periods.

I've tried playing with configuration settings on the nic itself with no luck.

Currently we have a Dlink Dap-2553 access point.. set to the 2.4ghz mode (since we still have devices that need 2.4ghz)..

I'm not sure what to do to prevent this from happening, short of using express cards, which we dont want to do..

Anyone else ran into this?

Thanks

I have had a Linksys BEFW11S4 Version 4 Wireless router for quite some time.  It works like a champ and I have one Laptop wired to it and a second using Wireless working just fine.  Recently, I received a new ThinkPad W500 Laptop with an Intel WIFI Link 5100 AGN wireless network adapter.  The older laptop (ThinkPad T60p) that works just fine with the router uses a11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Express Adapter by Atheros.  However, the NEW laptop (the W500) with the Intel Adapter fails to connect to the Router.  It will either indicate a failure while "Waiting for Association" or it will indicate a failure when waiting to "renew IP Address".  Sometimes, it will show a signal strength close to ZERO (Even as the older laptop with the other adapter is showing a signal strength close to 100%) When I called Linksys support, I was told that the facts that the Router (a) works find with the wired Laptop and (b) works fine with the 11a/b/g NEtwork Adapter and (c) works fine when WIRED to the new laptop all indicate that the problem is NOT with the router at all -- but with the Network Adapter.  Can anyone tell me what has to be adjusted in the Adapter settings?  Right now, I am using IBM Access Connections for BOTH of the wireless laptops.  I have made sure to set IDENTICAL values for SSID and WEP (128-bit) [static] password.  I have also ensured that all OTHER settings are the same for the two laptops.  Yet, in... I'm helping a friend with their PC. It is an HP Pavilion p7-1110. My friend installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 onto a new hard drive, and is using that. I've gotten through all of the Windows Update mess except for the Graphics Driver (the one I actually care about, of course). Without it I'm stuck with no Aero support and boxy square screen resolutions.

Windows Update reports the error code 80070103. According to the internet, this error means that the driver is either already installed or I'm trying to install an older version of the driver than what already is installed. However I do not have any Graphics Drivers installed (I think). I've attempted to download the driver and install it manually from the both HP Support site and the Intel Download site. Both drivers have resulted in the same problem.

After installing the driver, it asks for a restart. So I let it. The boot process makes it all the way past the good ol' Windows 7 logo, but at that point, my video cuts out completely. I have to boot into safe mode and uninstall the driver to fix the problem.

My best guess is that there's some sort of issue with using the HP hardware on non-HP software, but I have no idea if there's any way to fix this properly without getting a hold of the the original hard drive and using the recovery or somethin' to turn it into an HP version of Windows 7. Another possibility is that I can get video if I plug into the DVI port instead of the VGA, but setting that up would be difficult a... Read more

Answer:HP Pavillion, Intel i3 Graphics Driver error 80070103

Hello and welcome DrCreepss now looking for the graphics driver has been a bit of a mystery because the HP site lists drivers for AMD and NVidia and in the system specs for that machine it lists the Intel graphics.

So which drivers did you try to install?? Can you send the link you accessed for that please.

The fresh install was that done with an OEM version of Windows and I am assuming it is a genuine copy too because that depends on where it was purchased from.

Going on from there how did you setup the hard drive before installation? What I normally do is to clean the drive using DISKPART as a straight format is not in my mind thorough enough to get rid of any trace of the old install. I am thinking too is it a new drive?

When you mention the DVI port or the VGA do you mean you would rather use the VGA?? because the DVI gives a higher quality output for the graphics.

I ordered an SL500, and selected Wifi 5100, yet when I checked the device manager in vista, it said 5100 AGN.  So what's the difference?  And if there's no difference, why do they allow you different selections: 5100 vs. 5100AGN on the lenovo website when you customize your thinkpad laptop?Message Edited by lenovousersl500 on 12-11-2008 03:01 PM

Hi there, Does anyone knows if this will work ? I'm planning to change the 5100 AGN card with an old Intel 2200 model because I want to play with OSX86 on my X200. -- Shay

Answer:Replacing my Intel 5100 AGN card with a Intel 2200 (X200 Thinkpad)

Not possible. The Intel 5100 is mini PCI-e while the 2200 is just plain mini PCI. Completely different slot.

I used dell to detect my system and then recommend drivers.  It recommended an update for my Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260.  My current driver is version 18.33.3.2.  Dell recommended an update to 18.40.0.9. However, the file that actually downloaded is for version 18.20.0.9 (Network_Driver_VJY7Y_WN32_18.20.0.9_A01.EXE - this is how it shows in my windows explorer).  I guess it could just be a mislabeling by someone and it is the newest version.  But the system detects that it is at least listed as being older than my current version and stops the install.

Dell should correct this.  Do you know if there is actually an update to my version?  Link to driver page below:

Answer:Wrong driver for Intel 8260/7265/7260/3165/3160 WiFi Driver

There could be but we would need to know what computer you are running.  You can also go to downloads.dell.com, select your computer and it will show a list of every driver available for every operating system compatible with your system.

Hi, I installed the latest driver version 14.3 ( 14.2.0.10 ) available at Lenovo site on my T400 running Vista 64 SP2 http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=MIGR-72858 However the driver version seen in the 5350 adapter properties still show old version i.e. 13.04.000 (13.4.0.139 ) I tried to update the driver from the adapter properties but it says your system has latest driver.   I tried re-install but didn't help   Any idea what could be the problem and how to fix it? Thanks

Answer:Intel 5350 Wifi driver update

Hey there samurai123,

Have you tried to uninstall the driver, download the driver to your desktop, and install it manually? Sometimes I find that this works when the version number does not update. Look forward to hearing back from you, Thanks!

Hi,  Today l have downloaded and installed the mentioned above update by TVSU. Everything went fine and I was asked to do restart. l did it and it got stuck at "preparing your desktop" after a bit of a while it displayed error message that my desktop couldn't be loaded, check location. l could click only yes and l did so. The desktop theme was very basic and l couldn't see any icons on the desktop. l restarted the machine by doing it from the start menu.  And after a second restart it seems normal. Please anyone from Lenovo please tell me if this was related to my machine or to the driver installer package.  Btw when I'm inking this message in Tip your toolbox popped up and crashed. I use x200t with win 7 64bit us eng. Model type is 7448-cto. I have intel 5350 wifi.   Charles

Answer:wifi driver for intel cards (for win 7 64bit)

I run a W510 Win7 x64 and got the same recommendation from TVSU to install this driver. Apparently W510 support has been temporarily discontinued but then reinstated as regards this driver and software. I therefore at present do not have any version of it on my system.  My question is: is there any good reason I would want to waste neary 1 GB of space to install this thing, when at present my wifi is working just fine? The update readme just mentions incremental fixes etc but does not give an overarching purpose for the package as a whole. What is it for and do I really need it if my wifi is working just fine as is? Thanks, Peter

I purchased my T500 within the first week Lenovo had it available for US consumers to order.  I was assured the machine was going to come with a WiMax card.  I gave it to my daughter to use.  We never tested WiMax since we did not have WiMax in our city until October of last year.  Came to find out, our machine did not come with a WiMax card as was promissed.  It has in it the Intel WiFi Link 5300 AGN card instead.  Needless to say, I no longer feel comfortable ordering from Lenovo anymore.  We got seven laptops in the house.  Five of which are ThinkPads.  However, we've moved over to Samsung after this unpleasant experience. Today I wanted to see if there's an updated version of the driver I'm running for my WiFi card, to my unpleasant surprise, the driver for the Intel WiFi Link 5300 AGN card in my T500 does not exist anywhere at www.lenovo.com.  I only see drivers for the Intel 5150 and the Intel 5350 cards. Does anybody out there have any idea where I can find the latest driver for the Intel WiFi Link 5300 AGN in my duped T500 laptop?  Thank you in advance for your help.

Answer:T500 - Intel WiFi Link 5300 AGN Driver

In the T500 driver matrix you will find the following entry;

Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000, Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200/ 6205, Intel Centrino Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250,Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300,Intel PRO/Wireless 3945BG, 3945ABG Network Connection, Intel WiFi Link 1000/ 5350, Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AG/ 4965AGN

Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Windows Vista (32-bit, 64-bit), Windows XP 08 Sep 2011 14.02.0000

The link leads you to the following download page:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-77063

This package installs the software (Wireless LAN driver and utility) to enable the following devices:

Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200
Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205

Hello. I have the Intel 5300 Wifi Link. AGN driver is v 14.2.0.10. When I run the system update it tells me there is a "Intel Wireless WiFi for Windows 7 32-bit" driver version 13.04.0000. The question is which driver is best to run? The older or newer even though the system update is telling me there is an older version available.  2nd question: What is the best way to verify the model of wifi hardware installed?

I am trying to set up a fresh installation of Windows Server 2016 as a development machine on my T430, type 2349-H2G. Unfortunately, when trying to install the driver for the Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 network adapter to enable wireless LAN, the driver set-up fails with the message: A service installation section in this INF is invalid The wireless adapter worked fine as recently as yesterday on Windows Server 2012, but I am unaware if any special steps were taken to install the driver under that OS as I "inherited" the notebook from a former colleague. Is there any advice you can give about things I could try? I already tried manually installing the drivers from both the Lenovo website (Win10) and Intel website (Win8.1 and 7), but all of them had the same issue. I am a sophisticated user and am not afraid to edit .inf files or somethign similar if necessary, but I don't know where to start. Thanks in advance for any help you might render

Question: Intel 5100 AGN

I have an ASUS U81A laptop (Win 7 Home) with the Intel 5100 AGN wireless chip in it. Two days ago the wireless refused to turn on. The hotkeys to turn it on display the usual "tower" icon for the wireless but wont turn it on. In the last day I have completely reset my computer with the F9 reset and I have also reinstalled all the drivers for the chip as well as the ASUS wireless console 3 utility and the ATK driver for the hotkeys. As recommended in another post by another member I installed the Xirrus WiFi Inspector. When trying to hit the enable button it says it enables it but the card is still not on and won't detect networks. Also the device manager recognizes that the card is there. I'm at a loss of what to do next. I heard that some people have had luck covering pin 20 on the card with clear tape (supposedly that is the pin that controls the on/off capability forcing the card always on). Has anyone had luck with this?

Two day ago I used ThinkVantage SYstem Update and installed Intel Wifi link driver (ver 13.01.1000). But since then my computer was randomly cut off internet connection, and the wireless signal strength icon on the system tray indicated no nearby wireless network. And then it powered off the wireless connection. Whatever I do, I cannot re-power on the wireless (I used Access Connection to power on the 802.11 wireless radio, but it could not be turned on and nothing happened) unless I restart the computer. I thought it might be the router that malfunctioned as this problem never happened before. But after I checked the router and used another notebook to test wireless connection, I was sure the router ran very well. Then I re-installed the TVT Access Connection (ver 5.61) and the Intel WIFI Link Driver (ver 13.01.1000) but the problem remained. Could anybody give a possible solution?  I also noticed on Lenovo's website, the Intel wireless card driver for T61 is v13.00.0000 Windows Vista 23 Oct 2009. It's lower than what I have now. Could that be the cause? My ThinkPad T61 has the following configuration:Model: T61 8897CTOOS: WinVista Home Basic SP2 32bitLanguage: ENWireless Card: Intel 3945 ABGWireless Card Driver: 13.1.1.1 (previous one was 13.0.0.0)TVT Access Connection: 5.61

Answer:New Intel WIFI Link Driver Randomly cut off Internet Connection

Hi carlven,Anytime when wireless driver is updated, Access Connections also needs to be reistalled.Do this, first uninstall your wireless driver and access connections, thereafter reboot your system. Then install wireless driver first, again reboot, subsequently install access connections, reboot again. When installing any lenovo driver manually, keep in mind they first extract themselves to a default location in C:\Drivers..., second .exe setup must be run from that location to successfully install the drivers.Hope it helps.

T510, XP 32bit. Running system update, it has now been stuck on the "WiFi Driver for Intel Cards (For windows xp 32bit)" installation going on 4 hours+ now.  This has happened with like model's / OS and the result is usually to force a reboot. And manually install it. Any suggestions why system update takes hours to install the WiFi Driver for Intel Cards (For windows xp 32bit)?

Answer:System Update Stalls at WiFi Driver for Intel Cards

It's hung for some reason and not actually installing  anything. Cancel the installation. Uninstall the WiFi card in XP and reboot so that its rediscovered and drivers will be searched for or direct it to the one you want to install.

Hi,

hope someone can help me with more knowledge than me regarding drivers.

I just got a new Intel Wifi card AC 8265 and want (need) to install on Win10 x32 and there is no driver available.
Only Win10-64 bit support by Intel and Win7-32 both working well, but not usable for Win10 x32, finds no driver.

Luckily I had a Win7x32 installation on another HDD inserted on the PC and searched for the Win10x32 driver there as well and what should I say, found there a singnated driver that works now on Win10x32.

It seems that they provide support for Win7->10 updates but not directly for Win10, refuses everything.

Now my question: how can I save the necessary driver files to make a clean install?
There are vwifibus.sys Netwsn04.sys Netwtn04.sys mentioned in driver details, but cant install with them, there is no .inf with 8265 card only a oem40.inf with 7265 driver.
Card is correctly shown as Intel pro AC 8265 and working with driver version 19.10.10.2, no need for unsigned driver or wrong 7265 driver to use, but I cant get it any more!
Has been found only in Win7 installation, and I dont have this HDD any more.
Driver details from Win7 or 10 x32:
Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265
16.10.2017
19.10.10.2
Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility

There must be a way to extract the needed drivers/files for Win10x32 from Win7 but dont know how to do ...
I cant believe that I will have to install Win7 prior to a Win10 only to get this wifi driver running.

Answer:Win10x32 driver for Intel AC 8265 WLAN wifi needed

Check the box for Run this program in compatibility mode for:
Select Windows 7 > Click Ok

Additional setup info:Dual HDDs (Win7 Pro & XP Pro)
XP Pro ? LAN & WiFi work fine (orig. configuration from Dell)
Win7 ? neither LAN nor WiFi work (Win7 added after purchase)
I was working on setting up an outdoor WiFi antenna a couple of days ago when my problems started. I was working in Win7, which I had not been using that often. My LAN connection was not working, and I realized the driver had not been installed. I downloaded it from Dell?s website and installed it. I received an error message about SNMP service not being installed. I turned the service from disabled to auto. I do not know if my LAN adapter is now working. That is my first problem. My second problem happened when even though my WiFi card had been working fine, I decided to see if its driver had been updated. It was not. I believe a Microsoft driver was installed. It was working just fine though (smile), so I had to mess with it. I downloaded the driver from Del??s website and installed it. That is when my problems started. The WiFi card has not worked since. First I realized I installed the wrong driver. I uninstalled it and installed the correct one. I even restored the system to before I messed with any drivers. No luck. My WiFi card still does not work. The iNtel utility states it fails the hardware test and passes the driver test. Windows 7 states it cannot find any wireless networks (if I switch to XP Pro everything works). I am at a loss and very frustrated. Can anyone help me please?

I obtained my T400 in November, and notice that the driver for my Intel WiFi Link 5300 wireless adapter is version 12.1.0.14 from 8/28/08. On the Intel Web site, I've noticed that the driver was upgraded to 12.1.2.1 on 11/24/08: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&Inst=Yes&ProductID=3062&DwnldID=17163&strOSs=... Are we permitted to install the latest driver (including the Intel PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility for Windows Vista, or does this interfere with ThinkVantage Wireless Detection, etc.), or do we have to wait to see if Lenovo certifies this version? Thanks in advance,Mike

My connection speed problems are far far worse. I have an old Buffalo bg AP, and it's very strange. I get good responsiveness on accessing web pages, but speeds of 2.5kbps on downloading files. Any clues? I tried disabling n, I tried a whole bunch of different settings on the WLAN device, but I can not get anywhere close to reasonable download speeds. Is it a conflict between Access Connections, and Windows Network Control? It kind of feels that way, but I'm not done investigating yet.

Probably completely unrelated but maybe not... I just put a test install of Win 7 Pro 64 on my T400 w/Intel 5100.  It was running Vista Biz 64 and working fine with my Linksys N router.  With '7 it wouldn't see the router most of the time, would occasionally see it and associate sometimes, and always drop in a few seconds. The "fix" was to enable QoS in the router.  Absolutely no idea why. Z.

So it seems the adapter is acting up.  It sees networking n linux it refuses to obtain an ip adress.  Windows 7 sees the network will connect sometimes but has a slooooooow connection and sometimes won't load the page.  Other times it won't connect.  I use another computer on same network and the internal adapter works fine.  It seem's other people are reporting the same problem. Has anybody heard of this problem or have a possible fix?

did you download the Lenovo driver, or did you down load the driver from Intel? Lenovo writes alot of their own drivers for things like wifi cards, its possible that by downloading Intel's driver, it isn't compatable with thinkpads.

I have a Lenovo SL500 running windows 7 pro 64 bit SP 1, that I bought used, My problem is the Intel 5100 doesn't show up under network adaptors in the Device manager. I have the Wireless enabled in the Bios, Access Connections Ver 6.11, Intel proset wireless Ver 16.07. And the wifi switch on the front is in the on position. When I use the Fn+F5 combo I get "No supported wireless adaptors are installed  in this system" dialog box. Any suggestions? Thank you Dylan

I have a u350 w/ windows 7 and I'm getting poor wifi speed, packet loss, and disconnections. I have a good Cisco AP (802.11g) that works well with my two other laptops.  Typically sitting side by side, the other laptops will be at 54 or 48 mbps and will download a 700mb file about twice as fast from a local file server.  I've had the ap and other laptops for months and never got disconected in my own house before, but I have lost signal multiple times with the u350. I also bought a crappy linksys wrt610n to go with the new u350, none of my other devices support N so I set this thing up exclusively for the u350.  I typically get speeds anywhere from 2-5mbps on the N AP but sometimes as high as 24mbps.  I've played with various settings on the AP such as 5ghz only, 2.4ghz, or both at the same time, but it's pretty crappy and slower than G every time. Because I have the two APs, and the other laptops, I'm pretty sure it's just the u350 that's screwed up.  Forgetting the 802.11n, I would be happy if I could use the u350 with my Cisco G without getting disconnected and dropping packets left and right. Is it possible I have a bad wi-fi card or could it be just a software problem?  I've tried both the lenovo driver and the newer intel/microsoft one and they both have this issue.

Answer:u350 / Intel 5100 AGN problems

Disregard this, I took it apart and found one of the antenna cables was loose.  Now I'm getting 54mbps on G and 216mbps on N.

Answer:replacement cards intel 5100

Hi beyond_grimm,I think the wireless cards mentioned on page 152-153 in the following manual are the only ones supported:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-73322 Also, bear in mind only lenovo approved cards get passed by the BIOS, i.e. I think they have to be bought directly from lenovo or resellers who claim they would work cent percent in your thinkpad, there are many on ebay who sell lenovo approved compatible cards.Hope it helps.

I've been reading other similar posts for weeks and I still haven't found a permanent solution. I updated my Intel 5100 drivers to the latest (13.0.0.107) and have tried ALL previous ones. I still am having BIG issues with my connection to the linksys router. Yes I have it set to maximum performance, yes I've tried disabling IPV6, and I still have gotten nowhere. It connects normally through wire and other laptops connect flawlessly on wifi.

Also, I'm having problems with power management. First, when I put my laptop to sleep or hibernate, it never prompted me for the login password even though the option was on. Then I tried disabling and re-enabling it which I believe solved the problem. And when I change one of the plan options, like changing the "turn screen off" time and "dim screen" time and "put to sleep" time, the changes never apply (maybe they do after a reboot). When I close t he screen lid, sometimes it goes to sleep, other times it hibernates, and sometimes it just freezes. It's been one hell of an experience with Win 7 and this is already the RTM, so can anyone PLEASE tell me what's going on?

Thank you for you help, and sorry for the long post

Answer:Intel 5100 Limited Connection. When will this end?

Anyone? I also just tried turning off the "Allow pc to turn off wireless card to save power" option in power management but this hasn't solved the problem. The problem is really taking place half if not most of the times i try to connect.

Thanks in advance

I am trying to update the graphics drivers for my laptop using the intel driver update utility to fix a problem with a game that I am playing (Overwatch). However when I try to use the facility it says that I have to use drivers that are from HP. How do I obtain these HP drivers or how can I use the drivers directly from Intel?

I have a laptop with an Intel(R) WiFi Link 5300 AGN nic

1) Shows up in Device manager as healthy
2) Has latest driver as per manufacturer (hp elitebook 6930p) running win2008R2 server.
3) keyboard wifi indicator lites up
4) Device shows up as active in networking devices

however, I cannot see any wireless ssid's to associate with.
I checked mfg web site for latest drivers and the intel web set for the adapter itself. After many downloads of win8 and win7 driver bundles (no support for win2008r2 apparently) I have not found a solution yielding a fix. I did stumble across a Intel proset/Wireless wifi software utility manual diagnostic tool v15.6.0.0. When it runs, i get:

"Wireless Hardware is not bound to transport driver"

To be exact:
#Event,Source,Time,Error Severity,Domain,User,Description
1,Manual Diagnostic,04/12/2013 15:57:12,Warning,Unknown,Administrator,Hardware Test
- Result : Failed, Summary : Wireless Hardware is not bound to transport driver

With the same tool i can run it manually on just selecetd tests (hardware, driver, radio, scan, associate, auth, signal, ping)
All of them fail (as expected except the driver test:

To be exact:
#Event,Source,Time,Error Severity,Domain,User,Description
1,Manual Diagnostic,04/12/2013 16:00:07,Warning,Unknown,Administrator,Driver Test
- Result : Passed, Summary : Driver is loaded. NETwNs64 Version :14.3.2.1

The driver test passes, just not the link to the transport apparently. Not sure how to fix this.

I tried to reinstal / downgrade, but its not working.  I can connect to the wifi router if i disable/unable the adapter in the windows' device man. Sometimes it works, sometmes - not. Sometimes it is showing connection, but there is no access to the internet. Access connections is usually failng on "waiting association". Driver version is 17.13.2.2. Tried several. Hey Guys, on my T540p, I configured the rapid start technology according to  http://download.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/rapid_start_technology_user_guide.pdf Since I have performed a BIOS update to 2.14  and an update of the Intel Wifi driver to 17.0.5, I experience the problem of battery drain when the computer is in S4 sleep state, at a rate of approximately 0.125% per hour (on the 56Wh battery). This was not the case before these updates. There was no noticable power drain in S4 sleep state, even not over multiple days. I'm using Win7, I set all the WoL capabilities both in BIOS and in the Intel driver to disabled, according to  https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-Z-and-P-series/Battery-drain-when-powered-down-Y410P/td-p... External device USB charge settings are also fully disabled in BIOS and Power Manager. The problem does not occur when the system is fully shut down, but in S4 Sleep state, which should be a zero-power state too, as it was before the updates. In the details of the BIOS update it is stated " Fixed an issue where the computer might fail to enter sleep state". Could the power drain be a side effect of this fix? Or is it an issue with the (new) Wifi driver, as it was the case for the Y410P? How could this battery drain be avoided? Has anybody experienced the same issue?Best, Martin

Hi, I have an X61 with Vista Business 32bits and the Wireless card (Intel Wifi 4965AGN) does not work anymore. Here is the chronology of events: - A few days ago I realized that the Fn+F5 hot key was not working.- I tried to solve this problem by uninstalling the Intel wifi driver and reinstalling.- Uninstall was OK. When I restarted the computer, the system automatically detected the Wifi card as new hardware and tried to install the driver, but I got an error message "Unable to open the driver specific registry key for this device".- I have tried to uninstall and install the driver several times but I have been unable to fix the problem.- I have downloaded the latest driver from the Intel and Lenovo websites but the problem persists.- When I access the device manager there is an exclamation point on the Wifi4965AGN. If i try to update driver it returns a message saying thatthe driver is up to date.- I have tried to recover the system from the last backup point but when the system restarts it says that there was an undetermined error in the recovery and that it didn't happen. It seems like there is something wrong in my Windows registry but I don't know enough to solve it. It doesn't seem like a big problem because I actually created it by trying to fix the Fn+F5 problem so I should be able to solve it! Any ideas before I reinstall Windows?

Answer:X61 Vista32: Cannot install driver for Intel Wifi 4965AGN (unable to open registry key)

You may want to check the following again just to be sure everything was done 1) Make sure the correct driver for Intel Wifi 4965 AGN is installed (Do you have XP or Vista?)2) Use System Restore (Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Systems Tools -> System Restore) to rollback your settings to an earlier calendar date prior to the  time the issue has occurred. Were you trying to restore using Microsoft's System Restore, or using the Rescue and Recovery tool? If this fails, you may need to reload Windows.Power off, then power on and tap F11 repeately to access Rescue and Recovery from our recovery partition.  Hope this helps, Mark
