Just got a x220 Tablet with Windows 10. My touchscreen isn't working

Question: Just got a x220 Tablet with Windows 10. My touchscreen isn't working

I replied in a another post also, sorry for that.. But I hope this post get's more attention. I just bought a x220 Tablet but my touchscreen doesn't work at all. I bought de computer with Windows 10 installed on it. I just used WacomhardwareCheck and it gave the message: 'your hardware does not appear input capabilities and is not currently supported by the Wacom FEEL driver'.So, does this mean my touchscreen is broken and doesn't work? Is there a hardware problem? How can I see if the touchscreen is registered by Windows?it would be great if someone could help me to get this thing working... I think the touchscreen makes this an interesting machine...

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I installed windows 10 on my X220T a few months ago, but have been expirencing issues ever since. The most persistant one that occures is that whenever I wake the device, the thinklight icon appears on screen with a slash through it.(but doesn't have a thinklight) It goes away when you do something to refresh it, but there have been times in which I've had to do complete restarts to get rid of it. The other really irritating issue that I've been having is that the touch screen, in windows 10 only, only registers 1 of the 2 touches, so doing things like pinch-to-zoom or 2 finger panning are not possible. The way I've tested is by opening MS Paint and dragging both of my fingers across the screen only to have one line input instead of two. This is a software issue with windows 10, as with Kubuntu, 2 finger input works flawlessly.I've tried to update drivers to no avail.Does anyone else have this issue and does anyone know of any ways to fix this? The second issue is really hindering my usage of the device.

Hey folks, I've upgraded my X220 Tablet to W8 when it has been released. All is running fine. Okay, I deinstalled PC Doctor and several other Lenovo apps which are supported for W7 only but this has not been a lack for me. Since two days, after using the tablet functionality (touch + pen) the touchpad and trackpoint didn't work any more. Had that some time ago, when I suspended the machine in tablet-mode. Afterwards the touchpad and trackpoint were disabled. I could enable both by hitting FN+F8. But this shortcut doesn't work any more. Does anyone know, how to restore the FN+F8 shortcut? I found out the application behind the FN+F8 key can be found in C:\Program Files\ThinkPad\UltraNav Utility\UNAVOSD.exe UPDATE: Driver version is already at 16.2.19.2. cheerskyoshiro

Good day,
Thanks for reading.

I recently installed Win 8 (not upgrade) on my tablet. One of the downsides has been that I now cannot get my built-in 3G to work as the FnF5 button does not bring up the expected dialogue.

Please can you help me.

Answer:X220 tablet - post Windows 8 - FnF5 not working so 3G not working

Hey George,

Are you receiving dialogue at all? If so, what is coming up? Additionally, are other FN keys working as intended?

With your recent upgrade to Windows 8 have you upgraded everything that you could prior to the upgrade, and upgraded what Windows 8 drivers are available? I have seen success with updating the power manager driver, as well as the Hotkey Features Integration Driver. The Hotkey driver has up to Windows 7 Driver, it may possibly help your issue, but make sure you back up, and have the capability to rollback to the previous driver. Good luck and please keep me posted on your progress.

Thank You.

I'm having trouble getting speedstep to work on my X220t running Win8 Pro x64. Below some settings that may be relevant. I'm hoping someone has been able to get this to work, because at the moment I only get 2h45min battery life with the Core i7-2620M always at 2.7GHz.  - I have BIOS 1.29- In the BIOS SpeedStep is set to be active when on battery- I have installed the latest Intel Chipset drivers (Version 9.3.0.1021)- I have installed the latest power management driver (1.66.0.22)- With the system on battery with low activity the CPU remains at 2.69GHz- In windows power options (Advanced) I have 'system cooling policy' set to 'passive'. Oddly in Windows power setings I don't see any explicit settings for throttling there. I recall that I used to be able to specify a minimum processor state. Maybe that points to the problem?  Has anyone seen the CPU speed change in Win8, and if so, any settings or drivers I need to change?   Image below of the CPU state while on battery and with low activity.

Answer:Speedstep not working on X220 tablet with Windows 8

Well shoot, after spending an hour installing drivers and searching online, the last clue in my post was the one that did it. I looked for 'minimum processor state' and found this page:  http://goo.gl/MHG8I Conclusion:  the Windows 8 System info page and the new task manager do not always display the actual clock speed. For comparison, on my Ativ Atom Z2760 system the Task Manager correctly shows the actual current clock speed (and it's varying a lot), while the System Info page shows the max clock speed of 1.8GHz. For this X220t on the other hand the Task manager display is stuck showing the max CPU speed only. Maybe a firmware update will fix this, not sure.  To see the actual speed on the X220t install CPU-Z, see screenshot below. In the screenshot the speed shows as less than 800MHz at the moment, and I see it ramp up when I do something CPU intensive.  Hope this helps someone else. It doesn't explain why the battery life is so bad though. Maybe the battery is just dying..

I have a new X220 Tablet, and the Pen and Tablet functions work perfectly out of the box as long as the unit is on the Ultrabase. As soon as I remove from the Ultrabase (or boot while not connected), the Pen & Tablet functions stop working. Conversely, if I dock the X220, the Pen & Tablet functions begin working again. The behavior is the same regardless of whether I have an external monitor attached or not. Any thoughts?

I have an X220 tablet with Gobi card for AT&T wireless and GPS.  It appears to work fine, except after a few minutes, using Delorme Street Atlas USA, the GPS stops functioning (stops tracking).  You have to start up the GPS again, and it starts working again for a while.  this is really annoying, because you think that the GPS it is working (green arrow is on, etc) til you realize that the arrow never moves.

@raford,Try using a different GPS software and see if it helps. Also check the device manager for the GPS WWAN module if the "power management" to save power is enabled. Might want to untick that feature.

This is the second time this problem has occurred on my laptop but this time I haven't been able to fix it. Both times I turned my computer off in tablet mode and then happened to turn it back on in regular laptop mode. When I did this however the screen would still be oriented the way it was in tablet mode when turned off i.e. Portrait or secondary landscape. After rotating it to tablet mode and back the screen orientation would correct itself to normal but the trackball and touchpad stop working. When I turn on my computer they both work at the login screen and when I test them with the ThinkVantage Toolbox but not at all other than that. The first time this happened I fixed it by updating the ultranav drivers but this isn't working this time.I've tried turning them back on in the ultranav settings but the boxes to do so are gray and unclickable. I've tried rotating my screen and turning it on and off in tablet and laptop mode several times but nothing has worked so far. Anyone have any other ideas on how to fix it?

A common issue with tablets and some touchscreen laptops is that the touchscreen does not work without power connected.

I have found a solution that works on my device and seems pretty easy to do for other devices.

I had to also add SelectiveSuspendOn and set to 1 - not there for a clean install.

My ASUS tablet's sound, touchscreen and battery icon. It's really annoying, I've tried using windows update, IOBit Driver Update (Which worked! I was so happy, but after a reboot, it stopped working) so nothing worked in the end. It seems like my OS (Win 8.1 Pro) thinks that it's a desktop. Does anyone have an idea what to do? Answer:Tablet/Laptop sound, touchscreen & battery icon not working.

Please run the Windows 8.1 Refresh. A Refresh basically will reinstall the operating system, this will not affect your personal files if you use the option to save them in the instructions.  The downside is that this will uninstall all of your third party programs you installed.  Windows 8.1 will place a list of removed apps on your desktop after refreshing your PC, I would suggest that you copy this list for a reference when you go to reinstall these programs.Press the Windows key   and the I key to open Settings. In Settings click/tap on Recovery, click/tap on Refresh your PC without affecting your files, then Get Started. You will see a page titled Refresh you PC, click/tap on Next.  On the next page click/tap on Refresh. The computer may turn off and back on during this process, you don't need to do anything.  The scan will display a percentage of its completion.

So, I boot up my laptop and notice I can't type my password in, so I log in with my fingerprint, I open up notepad and notice that my 4 5 R T F G V B, Left Shift, and Left Ctrl keys all don't work. I also noticed that they're all keys that are staggered vertically (with the exception of the modifiers).I went to a keyboard tester site to get a visual representation of the keys that don't work.Notice the chunk in the middle of unhighlighted keys. I've taken my laptop apart before, so I pulled out the keyboard and inspected the keyboard connector and socket and found no tarnishing, bent pins, etc on them.Is there a way to diagnose if this is a keyboard or a motherboard issue?

I bought x220 tablet 4 days ago with multitouch (lenovo model number: 4296-2BG). Straight out of the box the touchscreen is not working in approximately 20-25% of the screen surface. The affected area is in one piece on the right-hand side (if looking in regular notebook configuration), however the most of the edges of the screen work. The touch works correctly at other parts of the screen, but on this part there are spots where I never managed to make the touch and there are spots where only sporadically and randomly I can make the touch work. The problem can be repeated no matter if the computer works on battery or on AC, no matters if it is in tablet or in notebook configuration, and no matter what the program you use. It is most clearly seen in Paint - drawing by finger goes well until you get to the part of the screen when abruptly stops and only continues when you get to the healthy part of the screen.  I spent 2 days of trying to get it wok by- calibrating touch screen- turning on and off the touch ability- trying to tweak the touch through built-in properties- installing the newest drivers from lenovo- installing the newest drivers from wacom- cleaning the screen surface with the little cleaning tissue that comes along- turning on and off wifi, bluetooth, camera, and virtually everything I could turn on/off By the way, the system is in the vanilla state - I did not install anything on it (except new drivers for touch). Just made the 'recovery disk'... Read more

Good day. I purchased a manufacturer refurbished ThinkPad X220t  with warranty for one year. The laptop came with a factory seal. When I turn on a notebook,  the operating system(win 7 Prof 64bit) automatically install. At the end of installation in device manager  all devices have been identified and worked fine.  But in computer details in the "system" was written ?No Pen or Touch Input is available for this display?. Then I installed all the drivers on a laptop from Lenovo website again and again. That did not help. Then I reinstalled windows (win 7 Prof 32bit). That did not help. Previously, I had two X200t and when I installed windows 7, the digitizer immediately was detected, for the good work of  the touchscreen it was necessary to install drivers. But the situation with the X220 for me incomprehensible. Explain what I did wrong. The type of ThinkPad printed on the back label is 4294-CTR(in BIOS the type is 4294-CTO).

Hi everyone, I have a Lenovo X220 Tablet that has touch screen and pen. They suddenly stopped working today. The LCD screen still works pefectly fine, however. The touch screen is enabled on the touch settings. When I try to calibrate, it does not detect my finger or the pen. I also noticed that when I tried to reinstall the driver and it said "a supported tablet was not found on this system". I have the most recent bios. I am running Windows 7 that came with the laptop. All windows updates completed. Is it possible for the digitizer to be defective, but the LCD screen to work perfectly fine?Could it be just a ribbon failure?Which part would need to be replaced, if this is the case? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Answer:X220 tablet touch screen suddenly stopped working

Even though it looks like a single device, it is really 3 separate ones.  There is a basic panel.  There is a static discharge digitizer in the front to sense finger touches.  There is a second Wacom digitizer behind the panel to detect the pen.  Any of them can fail.  The wires in the cable can also crack.  Since both digitizers failed, I would first look in device manager to see if there could be a problem with a USB hub.  (digitizers both connect as USB devices.)  My next guess would be the cable.  Sorry I cannot be more definite.

X220 tablet (about 2.5 yrs old, out of warranty) was working completely fine last night; this morning, no sound is coming from the laptop, either through speakers or through headphones (audio jack).  I am, however, able to get sound through a bluetooth-connected speaker. I had hoped this was a software issue.  Tried uninstalling/installing all sound devices, updating BIOS, updating drivers, system restore to previous date, rebooting a million times, etc.  No joy. When I run the sound troubleshooter, it says that no speaker, headset, or headphone appears to be plugged in.  The sound icon has a little red circle/white X next to it.  When I try to plug in headphones, nothing happens -- does not seem to detect the event.  When I press the mute and volume buttons on the tablet, no response. Also, under Device Manager -> Sound, video and game controllers, it lists only "Bluetooth Hands-free Audio" and "Intel Display Audio".  I don't think either of these is the normal X220 audio driver, is it?  What else should be there?  I downloaded the Conexant Audio Software from Lenovo's site (this is what came up when I searched for audio drivers for the X220 tablet), and tried to install it, but halfway through, it said the install failed because it couldn't locate the device for the driver. This sounds like it's a hardware problem -- any way to verify?  Also, which piece of hardware exactly?  Is it the sound card ... Answer:X220 tablet - sound suddenly stopped working from speakers and headphone (but not bluetooth)

If it doesn't appear in the device manager, it sounds to me like the sound chip (codec) or some support chip has died. I'm not sure how exact you want the answer to be. I think on that model, the codec is a Conexant 20672. If I am correct, the normal fix is to replace the motherboard. Many x220 machines are still under warranty. If yours is, now would be a good time to use it. You can check here:http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-service/warranty-status/default.page?

Hello,In January, I upgraded the hard drive in my X220 Tablet and installed Windows 8 to the new hard drive.  Since doing so, I've been having trouble with the Wi-Fi on the computer.  It does this thing from time to time (a few times a week) where the Wi-Fi just cuts out, and doesn't think any networks are available, although the networking adapter is enabled.  Usually I can fix things by disabling and enabling the networking adapter a few times, but I'm getting tired of having to do this.  The problem is entirely with the computer, and not with my network, as it will do this on number of different networks, and the problem is not with the networking components.   Has anyone else had similar issues?  Does anyone have any advice on how to fix it?

I recently bought a used Thinkpad 220 Tablet. It has a 500 MB hard drive and Windows 7. I would like to perform the free upgrade to Windows 10 as well as replace the hard drive with a SSD. I have a couple of questions: I went to the Windows 10 upgrade site and downloaded the 64 bit version and burnt it to a DVD. However, where do I find my registration key? Do I just use my Windows 7 one? If I go ahead and replace the hard drive (with the SSD), can I just go ahead and install Windows 10 - instead of having to copy everything over to it from the old hard drive (with Windows 7) first? That would be my preferred route. (However, will need the key). What about the IBM diagnostic partittion - what should I do in terms of this? It would be nice to be able to perform backups, or return to the original config. Any tips, thoughts, pointers, or otherwise much appreciated in advance. Thanks,Jon

Answer:X220 Tablet - install SSD then Windows 10 from DVD?

Hello and welcome,

The way I read the documentation:  run the upgrade first from within your running Windows 7.  That should activate Win 10 and the activation status will be recorded on the Microsoft servers.  Once that's done you can do a clean '10 install - either on your existing drive or on the new SSD and activation should be retrieved automatically from the server.

BTW, I've moved your post to the X tablet forum.

I have some questions before I blast away Win7: - Can you get multi touch working with the touchpad? What works - pinch, charms menu etc?- Are the video drivers OK, or just use Win7 ones?- Any other issues? Thanks

Hi,I'm not seeing X220 T listed by Lenovo in laptops-windows 10 compatibilty list...??? Is that right? Mine is a 3 years old system... I can't believe is not going to be possible to use Windows 10... Anyone has tried it?Thanks.

Answer:Windows 10 support for X220 Tablet

Hello,

It may work fine with Windows 10, however, I don't believe its generation of CPU, IGP and chipset are supported by Intel for Windows 10, which means that Lenovo can't support them, either.  For what it is worth, I installed Windows 10 on a ThinkPad X61t and didn't notice any issues, and that has been out of support for a much longer time than your X220t.

That said, it could be that Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 drivers for the various bits of silicon inside your X220 tablet may work just fine under Windows 10, in which case you would be up and running.

The best suggestion I have is to make a thorough backup of your X220 and then try applying the Windows 10 Upgrade.  If it doesn't work, you will be able to wipe the drive and then reload your backup.

When I use the X220 as a laptop I can duplicate the display through my SmartBoard projector but when I use it as a tablet and it is docked I have to turn the tablet and dock 180 degrees so I am not writing upside down on the smartboard;  that means the dock has the cables coming out the front.  I can undock and plug everything into the X220 but the beauty of the dock is that I don't have to!

I have a desktop that runs Windows 8.1. My x220 tablet runs Windows 7. I was thinking about getting a wacom bamboo tablet for my art in photoshop (which I make on my desktop... x220 isn't powerful enough for what I do in photoshop). Then I realized that my x220 tablet is kind of the same thing. Is there anyway I can connect my tablet to my desktop so that when I'm using photoshop, I can use the stylus on the tablet to control what I do? Many thanks in advance.

Hey all,
I've been working on getting Touchscreen functionality working with Dell's Latitude 7350 2in1 Model with Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 installed. The model ships with Windows 8.1 and above by default and Dell does not provide driver / software support for any
other OS than what is shipped with the model. I had been looking into various touch screen controller vendors for "generic" drivers such as Atmel, Synaptics, etc, but have not had any luck with driver / firmware installs so far. The main issue I
run into is finding firmware installs that are "updaters" that fail to run due to the source firmware not already being installed. I'm hoping there might be a generic touch screen firmware / driver for tablets from Microsoft for use with Windows
7, but have not had any luck in my search so far. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: In perhaps the most embarrassing moment to have asked for help in my entire life, I restarted my computer and everything works fine now.  I must not have restarted after one of the drivers was installed for some reason.  This topic can be locked. ---- Original Post: Hello, I am a digital artist so I rely on the hardiness of my X220's pen/stylus/digitizer for a lot of my laptop use.  This fall my laptop had a virus that required it to be reset to factory settings, and so I decided it would be a good time to upgrade to Windows 8.1 (from Windows 7) before installing any programs.  I now have Windows 8.1 and it is working fine; however, my pen is not being detected by my system.  My fingers are being detected on the touchscreen, so I know the touch screen works.  I did not try my pen since resetting to factory settings, so I do not know whether it worked before I upgraded to Windows 8.1.  I would assume the issue is a missing driver, but I could not find the right driver on Lenovo's website and the digitizer update utility produces an error when I click "Update."  I was wondering if anybody had an idea for what I could do.  I would assume I am not the first person to try updating to Windows 8.1 on an X220, nor the first to reset an X220 to factory settings.  However, a brief search of Lenovo's support forums and of the internet has shown no solutions to my particular problem. Here are drivers I am us... I am experiencing very poor Virtual PC performance on my new X200 tablet. I have tried existing VHDs as well as brand news Windows 7 VM's created on the machine. VHD's that launch in 30 seconds on my two year old Toshiba tablet take over a minute to launch on my new X220 tablet. That Toshiba Portege M780 rates multiple points lower on the Windows Experience Index than the X220t. Lenovo loads more drivers and services on their out-of-box machine than I have every seen, so I can't help wondering if there is some driver or application impacting VM performance. I did uninstall and reinstall the latest version of RapidBoot (saw that post), but that didn't help the VM performance. Anyone else out there run VMs on their X220t? Thanks, C.C.

Answer:Virtual PC Performance on Windows 7 64-bit X220 Tablet

The Virtual PC (Windows Virtual PC) version for Windows 7 is much worse than older Virtual PC 2007. Have you enabled HW virtualization in BIOS ? It is required for Windows 7 host system. I've used Virtual PC 2007 on Windows XP host many years but since it is not supported by Windows 7 host anymore, I've moved to VirtualBox and haven't found any problem yet.

Hi all,    I have a really annoying problem...my x220 tablet disconnects from the internet whenever I enter tablet mode. The internet can be working perfectly fine while in non tablet mode but as soon as I switch to tablet mode, my internet disconnects. And if I switch back to non tablet mode from tablet mode, my internet returns almost instantaneously. I can load a page in non tablet mode with no problems, switch to tablet mode and the page stops loading. If I return back to non tablet mode the page resumes loading without so much as a pause or a hiccup. Also, when I switch the computer to tablet mode, wifi networks disappear off of the "available networks" list that were there before the switch.     I've tried everything, from updating network device drivers, reinstalling network device drivers, running diagnostics, reformatting my computer, uninstalling Norton Antivirus, system restoring to days before the last known working date in normal mode and safe mode, and contacting customer support (chat and call, managed to get a hold of a rep) but none of them have worked.    I also used to have a networking log before I reformatted/system reset to factory settings and there were a ton of errors with words like avsc manager failed to "something" ... I'll reinstall the thinkpad network managing program to create another log. Can someone please help me? My last resort is calling lenovo support again to have tech support come to hel... Read more

Hi, I have here a X220 Tablet that seem to have a FAN problem.Often in the last days my CPU temperature is often over 90 CAnd the fan has problem to reduce the temperature.I have also situation that the CPU is going too hot and the tablet switch off! With the CPU tool TPFC.62 I can see that the fan speed is 2300-2500 RPMs.But this seams not enough to be. And now the strange thing:When I disable the graphic adapter ?Intel(R) HD Graphics Family? (Driver 8.15.10.2321) and reboot and do the same thing that I done to get the temperature over 90 C with the intel graphic adapter the temperature is not going over 83 C!!! The fan speed is 3500-3800 RPMs. Can someone helps me with this issue?

Answer:X220 Tablet FAN Problem - temperature over 90 °C - tablet switch off :(

Hi giciorek,

I understand that your fan/temperature problems can be frustrating.  I would try updating your BIOS and also updating Power Manager.  (Some on the forum have tried downloading ThinkPad Fan Control, but that is not an official Lenovo solution.)

Download Power Manager here:

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS014924

Download BIOS Update here:

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS018805

In Power Manager, click Advanced at top right, you can Set Optimize Fan Control to Balance All Parameters under Battery Settings.  Set it to Reduce Noise Dynamically under AC.

Let me know if this helps.

Hi, diglett

There is another driver you could try using and see if it helps. Here you will find the latest version of the Synaptics driver. Synaptics is the company that also makes the UltraNav driver. The driver is the base Synaptics driver, but it should have most, if not all, of the functionality of the UltraNav driver. You can find the driver here.

Best of luck, and let me know how it goes

I just received a new x220 tablet, and the fingerprint reader is not working. As far as I can tell, it has never worked. It does not show up in the bios, and it does not show up in the Windows device manager. It is as if the hardware is not there. Is this a hardware defect? Has anyone else experienced this type of issue?

Answer:x220 tablet fingerprint reader not detected in bios or Windows

It is hard to diagnose from across the country, but there are 3 parts involved - the fingerprint device itself, the cable and the USB hub circuitry on the motherboard. (fingerprint connects as a USB device) You might try to upgrade the BIOS to the latest.   If you have a warranty, use it. If you bought with no warranty, all you can do is check for an unplugged cable and start swapping parts, but don't open it up if there is a warranty. You could turn an expensive repair into being your problem.

The learning curve on this machine is steep if you want to take advantage of all the input options but I've put the time in and I'm starting to love it. There is one thing I wish Lenovo would address though. I see plenty of ThinkPad users with this problem going back to at least 2008, and no solutions forthcoming. The manual states: "On the display bezel near the screen is a row of buttons with which you can control your computer in the tablet mode, without the use of the keyboard."By default the buttons are set to turn your computer off, press CTRL+ALT+DEL, or rotate the screen 90 degrees. The manual goes on to describe how you can customize these buttons via the Tablet Shorcut Menu, which is accessed via Start > Programs > Lenovo ThinkVantage Tools > Tablet Utility. If you open this program you get a dialog box titled "Auto Screen Rotation Settings." This dialog controls what orientation the screen should switch to when you convert into tablet. So it really doesn't have anything to do with the buttons. The only dialog that allows any assignment of the tablet buttons is Windows Control Panel > Tablet PC Settings. Here the Buttons tab is supposed to list the actual buttons on the front panel and let you assign them, but the only one shown is the Screen Rotation button. This works fine, you can set the button's function for a single press and a long press. (Too bad it's not possible to use Shift by itself, but that is as-designed by MS.)It should go without sayi... My X220 tablet comes with pen and limited touch support with 2 touch points. I have no issues on windows 7 but on windows 8.1 it has changed to be working with only 1 touch point since some time that I don't remember exactly when. So that I can work with one finger only and 2-finger functions such as pinch to zoom are unavailable. My drivers are all uptodate. I think I should completely uninstall the related driver before reinstalling but don't know how to procede and couldn't find the solution. I tried uninstalling all HIDs through Device manager and one-by-one, specifically wacom device. when I uninstall it, I lose touch option completely. but reinstalling through Device Manager sounds like recovering exactly the previous faulty condition. Maybe there is a conflict with windows 8.1 like Microsoft Input Configuration Device which might be unlikely.  So is there any other way to have full wipe and clean reinstall of those touch screen drivers? I appreciate it if you put links to the drivers for me, if they are not available on Lenovo Support. Tell me if you had the same touch issue in Windows 8.1  and how you solved it. Thanks

I have installed Windows 8.1 Professional on on a Lenovo X220 Tablet and everything seems to have installed correctly, although my system, which supported limited touch with 2 touch points in Windows 7, only has Pen Support in 8.1. I have been able to get the system to be recognized as "Pen and Limited Touch Support with 2 Touch Points" but only if I disable/unintall the Intel HD 3000 driver, and use Microsoft Basic Display Adapter instead.  The problem is that the resolution isn't as crisp.   Any recommendations as to what I can do to get the limted touch to be recognized with the Intel HD 3000 driver?  This one is baffling.   Any help would be appreciated.  The X220 Tablet's type is 4296-2WU Also, the Intel HD Graphics 3000 driver is the latest version compatible with 8.1 64bit - 9.17.10.3517. Update: I have also tried the previous Intel driver release, 9.17.10.3347, as well as the recommend Intel driver from the support page 9.17.10.2843 and non of them allow my screen to do Limited Touch Support with 2 Touch Points.  Yet, if I disable the Intel driver, and restart, I can.

Troy,

Thanks for sharing your expeirences and the details of the driver version.

Officially, I don't think Lenovo provided full support for Win 8 on the X220, but as you note it (and the upgrade to 8.1) can work with some limitations.   I'll check with one of our software engineers to see if he may have some suggestions on this one.

I expect you will probably draw some responses from the community as the X220 was a very popular system with a good following.

Ok first off, I do love Lenovo, it's about the best computer I've ever owned.  With that said, there is going to be some complaining going on here, but I hope it's both constructive and instructive as well as observed and addressed. #1. Applies to both Win 7 and Win 8 (I'm dual booting both Operating systems).  The ultranav drivers/software are pretty bad.  First and foremost, "Middle Click Mouse Button".  By default on my shiny new Windows 8 clean install, the mouse and trackpad work great, with some features missing because of generic drivers, but Whallah!  The middle button functions naturally and perfectly as a middle mouse button.  Upon installing (and then immediately removing) Ultranav, the middle mouse functionality disappears and your stuck with a dopey scrolling button...  Didn't anyone ever tell the driver department that handles this that regular middle mouse button functionality handles scrolling by default in most modern browsers/applications, there is no need to over-ride this default functionality at all, and in the process making it worse.  Please ditch the zoom/scroll options and just give us a middle mouse button (or at least make it an available option in Ultranav).  Some of the features in Ultranav work great in Windows 7, edge scrolling on the trackpad, palm recognition, etc., being able to speed up the red keyboard joystick thingy, add acceleration, etc..  The recommended Win 8 driver... I have upgraded my X201 Tablet to Windows 10 32bit. As far as I can tell, everything is working, including the WACOM drivers and touchscreen.  Wireless has worked perfectly so far, not sure about Bluetooth as I don't use it. My only issue is that the buttons on the display do not work. The power button located on the display does work. I tried installing the Tablet Button Driver II and it will go through the install but the buttons do not work.  This is the download link:http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds027627 The document claims Windows 10 compatability and was Last Updated :08 Jun 2015. On inspection, all the files extracted are dated from 2012 and when trying to manually run the software Windows throws up an error that the software is not supported on this PC.   I removed and reinstalled and noted that the driver information page when running the installer does NOT have Windows 10 listed as a supported system. My assumption is that the driver that they have linked on the download page is NOT the most current driver and is infact the driver for Windows 7 from 2012. Does anyone know how to contact Lenovo to get the correct driver posted to the page, or know of an alternate source to try and find it?

Welcome to the forum!

Yes, some X61T units had the finger-enabled "multitouch" screens. All of them were XGA, none SXGA+.

Good luck.

I've installed our Licensed copy of XP on an x61 Tablet.  I have all of the drivers installed except for the one that actives the Touch Screen so I can use the stylus.  Which driver(s) do I need?

Answer:x61 Tablet with XP TouchScreen Issue

I don't know if you have multi-touch screen model or not, but what you are refering to is active digitizer from Wacom. Driver from here http://www.wacom.com/productsupport/select.cfm should do the trick. However, if you have multi-touch screen, you might need to reinstall multi-touch driver from Lenovo as well since that driver actually is Wacom driver + GUNZE driver (which is passive digitizer driver)

Tablet pc: Nexox s621 (supports 64bit).
Touchscreen manufacturer: et&t (vendor can't give better info).
The tablet came with xp and vista drivers.
Problem: Touchscreen doesn't work on windows 7 (32 nor 64 bit).

Tried this:
a) installing xp and vista touchscreen driver "directly" => driver gets installed succesfully, but doesn't work.
b) installing xp and vista touchscreen driver in different compability modes => driver won't even get installed, get error message.

To some extent windows 7 recognizes the touchscreen by itself (no touchscreen driver installed).
If you touch the screen a cross or small circle appears, and can be moved.
But it appears a totally different place than where you touch the screen.
If the cross by random is placed on an icon, and you mouseclick, nothing happens.
In general all other hardware features are supported, either by windows 7 update, or
using vista drivers. Only the touchscreen and the card reader doesn't work.

A working solution for the touchscreen will be much appreciated and rewarded (small paypal amount).
Thank you.

Answer:make touchscreen run on tablet, how to

Unless the manufacturer makes a specific driver for Windows 7, you probably aren't going to get it to work.. I know thats probably not what you wanted to hear, but you machine appears to be for XP/Vista.

I have an X41, so this is not my first tablet. I was stoked about the touch screen feature on my X61, but it needs to be calibrated.Where I touch, is at least 1/2" away from where the arrow displays on the screen. I can only find calibrations for the pen input, not my finger input. I have searched high and low on the puter, and the forums, and find nothing that addresses this.  Also, I have come to the conclusion that the finger touch doesnt work very well at the edges of the screen. Can this be helped by calibration also?   Any help here is appreciated.side note: after reading other threads........I had bezel seperation on X41, sent in for fixing 2 times. Fix lasted a few weeks. First thing I looked at after opening new X61, and I found the same problem with a brand new rig. Their engineers really need to fix this, although, the X41 never had problems, despite this physical bezel problem. Do they have "SUPERGLUE" in China?

Answer:X61 tablet touchscreen calibration?

Has this been solved? I had a x61 tablet for years now, I have simply given up on the touch screen. All is half an inch off, I cannot reach any screen border with my finger on the touch screen. The calibration program in control panel only calibrates the pen, not the finger.

Question: x220 tablet DOA.

So. I ended up, after about a month and a half of lurking on forums and reading reviews, purchasing an X220t with most of the bells and whistles, along with an extended next day onsite warrranty, extra pen, etc. I track it all the way from China on the UPS site every three hours. It has been an unhealthy obsession. And it arrived in the mail. Dead. Won't work. Won't boot. DOA (mostly. several indicator lights flash a bit, but I don't hear a HD, fans spinning, or screen turning on.)  I've talked with tech support (who did what they could [Nice people!]) but they were unable to get any immediate help or provide any advice beyond 'we'll call you'.Also, they couldn't find verification that I had a warranty for awhile. My concern is that this is for college, and I'll be going to school on the other end of the country (Colorado School of Mines!). And I'll be leaving shortly, and work has left me short on time, etc. So, how common is this? Should I try to get my money back and just buy a Fujitsu tablet, or something else from a retailer? There is always bragging about thinkpads being so tough, and mine is dead after a ride through UPS via Worldport. ( I know... could be any number of components that were dead to begin with, etc.) Are they just crap? I'm trying to keep it cool, but I just spent a whole lot of money, including on a warranty which is generally just gravy for most companies, and I've recieved a very pretty lump of plastic (again, I'm not an ent... Answer:x220 tablet DOA.

Sideburns, welcome to the forum,

I'm sorry to read about your experience, something like this must be a huge disappointment after having waited eagerly for the arrival of your new ThinkPad.

So far you seem to have handled the situation correctly and would ask you to take a look at this post in our FAQs; Mark's Advice About DOA systems.

I personally feel that in your situation, due to the time limitations you mention, the quickest route for you to persue would be with support and having the system repaired. Yes you have stong arguments to ask for a refund or an exchange system, but these could potentially take longer to realise than having the system repaired.

As to your question to how common this is; in my experience it's not at all common. I personally have been selling Think products for over 11 years and can count on one hand the number of systems I have seen which were literally DOA.

Question: Tablet X220

Hi, Looking to verify that the tablet X220 can run dual monitors using the Thinkpad Ultrabase Series 3 Dock.  Would like to use two external monitors, one has a vgs connection and the other has DVI.  Could one monitor use the VGA connection and for the DVI monitor, can an adapter be used to connect to the display port? Thanks,Aaron

Solved!

Answer:Tablet X220

When you are docked on the Ultrabase Series 3, the dock's displayport and vga can both be active. Yes you can use the displayport to dvi converter to connect to your second monitor.

Selecting this option may delay your shipment more than 4 weeks.
[$0.00]
12.5" HD Multi WW 3x3 No Camera
Selecting this option may delay your shipment more than 4 weeks. Why even release a model when both screen options are delayed more than four weeks? It's a phantom launch. No real product is available. I first checked this an hour or two after "launch" so it's always been like this. This is rediculous and is just a cash grab with the idea "see! it's available, please don't give your money to another company". Don't release products you can't ship. Don't release products before every major option is available, i.e., Gorilla Glass, i5, i7 processors...

Answer:The x220 Tablet is not available

It's interesting that apparently the Canadian site actually tells you in advance that there will be a 4+ week delay. On the US site, none of the options have notices saying they may cause delays. The order says "ships in 8-12 business days" all the way up until you check out, at which point it changes to "estimated ship date" in 5+ weeks (5/27/11).

I have an Azpen A700 with a functioning LCD that will require more to fix other problems than it's worth. Can anyone offer advice on how I might salvage the LCD. Azpen, of course, wouldn't give me a schematic, so I have no idea if there is a separate controller or if it is on the Motherboard. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

After reinstalling Windows 10 on a Energy Sistem tablet, the OS doesn't recognise the tablet (no touchscreen, no battery time...). Is like having a PC (I need USB keyboard and mouse). How can I get the appropriate drivers?

Answer:I reinstall W 10 on a tablet; now there is no touchscreen, battery... How can I fix it?

You can try running Windows Update first. If the drivers are digitally signed, then Microsoft will deliver them through Windows Update. If not, then you'll have to go to the manufacturer's website and download the drivers there.

Answer:x61 Tablet touchscreen doesn't work

I don't believe the X61 is a touch screen model. It has a tablet pen, but the screen itself is not touch sensitive.Sounds like you may have a short in the wires that run into your LCD. Probably not work getting fixed.

Hello everyone !

i've been looking all over for a solution, but i can't seem to find anything..

There used to be a JooJoo forum, with quite a lot of information on how to get everything to work, but they suffered a major database problem, causing them to lose all of their threads..
So yeah, i'm basically on my own to try & figure this out..

I got all the devices properly installed & touch worked out of the box, no optional drivers needed.. however, the touch screen is upside down..
here's what i tried so far:

win8 calibration : the normal way
win8 calibration : upside down (i thought it could've helped since it reads everything upside down)

eGalax touch driver: this made the touchscreen be recognized as a mouse, which works great, but the touch features aren't supported..

changing the screen orientation has no effect, as the touch input rotates with the screen.. i tried this through "display resolution" & the nvidia control panel, but they had no effect at all..
can anyone help me with this problem ?
thanks in advance !

Hey guys. I don't know what happened to my display, but once I reinstalled Windows 10, the display (under Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Pen and Touch -> Display tab -> Display Options -> Display drop-down box) only shows that I have a mobile pc display. But I know that is not correct. And what's worse is that the tablet buttons are not installed in my system. Those two exact problems might be why only the right side of my touch screen is working. I already have the correct driver for my touchscreen laptop so I'm CERTAIN that's not the problem. Can someone (anyone!) help me with solving the first problem and redirect me toward the tablet buttons I need for my Lenovo B50-30 Touch in order to solve the second? I want my full functionality back on my laptop. Thank you very much. Sincerely, organanon

I've got a Gateway all-in-one desktop (ZX6961) that shipped with touchscreen functionality, but seems to have lost that ability along the way. I suspect the failure coincided with an update to Windows 10, but I'm not 100% sure.

The monitor shows up as an Acer E211H (HDMI) in the device manager. That particular model doesn't show up on Acer's driver support page. The drivers from Gateway also didn't help matters -- I installed the Intel version of the VGA drivers (because that what the display adapter is labeled as), along with the chipset and USB drivers.

One little detail that I noticed while fiddling with this -- when booting the computer, I get visual feedback on the monitor from touches for a brief moment before the OS fully boots.

Hello,I have a Dell inspiron 7737 with a touchscreen and the laptop came with a windows 8 pre-installed which i updated to windows 10 already. I am dual booting it with windows 7 because i like that operating system but the only problem is have i when ever i boot up my windows 7, touchscreen stops working and i thing it's a driver issue. I have tried finding drivers for it with no luck otherwise every other hardware works. Here is the link just for the system specification: http://www.winwin.rs/laptop-dell-in...Please help me find appropriate drivers or figure out the problem.Thank you.message edited by PikachuAstronaut

Answer:Touchscreen not working with windows 7.

You're right, it's a driver problem. The reason the touchscreen doesn't work is because Windows 7 is not supported on the Dell Inspiron 7737, Dell have not released any Windows 7 drivers for that model. You should have checked what drivers were available from Dell's support website before installing Windows 7.Only these Windows versions are supported:Windows 10 64-bitWindows 8.1 64-bitWindows 8 64-bithttp://www.dell.com/support/home/us...Use a mouse if you want to keep using Windows 7. Touchscreen on Windows 7 is clunky anyway because it wasn't really designed for touchscreens, whereas Windows 8 & 10 were. It's no big deal, just use a regular mouse. I wouldn't use touchscreen anyway. Who want's to get smudges & fingerprints all over the screen when it's possible to use a mouse instead?message edited by phil22

I tried using the registry hack in Windows 8 to stop my battery charging higher than 95%, and was sucesful. however this has also had the effect of meaning that when I plug the charger in when the laptop is on, it says "plugged in, not charging". If I turn the laptop off, or put it into Standby, then plug the charger in, it starts charging fine and continues to do so after turning it back on. I have tried re-installing Windows 8.1 (and not installed any of the power management drivers) incase it was a driver problem, however this has not fixed it. If there is some way to completly reset the battery controller (i'm not sure if the chip that does this is in the battery of laptop) then I would be very glad to know.

tablet allows you to directly write on the screen or use your finger as an input device (if you select the multitouch option), so if you have need for such feature, then the tablet obviously will the best choice. If you don't use the handwriting or touch screen option, then the normal x220 laptop is better, as it is slightly lighter than the tablet model and also slightly more rugged due to the different hinge design.

I've done plenty of drive upgrades before but not an SSD.My review of message board makes it seem like there can be fit problems with some SSDs in the x220, and that with SSDs in general you should do a clean install and not a full clone (with OS).  That always raises issues with drivers and QA'ing the install to make sure you got it all back to factory fresh. I've read the posts about using a smaller SSD in the extra slot as a boot drive and keeping files on HDD, but I would really like to have everything on the faster media. So my question is, are there any x220 tablet owners out there that have self-installed large SSDs. Any tips, warnings or reassurances? Thx

Answer:x220 tablet and large SSD

HI,  I installed Intel 320 SSD (160 Gb) and used Acronis to clone the previous drive. It worked well. What may be of greater interest to you, is that I had to remove a black spacer attached to the SSD to make it 7mm from 9.5mm.  It can be easily done with Intel SSDs (except 510, I think), but you will have to order shorter screws online. Just search Google or this forum for screws for Intel SSD. Good luck!

Hello!  I have an X220 tablet with a stylus that, whenever near the screen, begins writing or selecting. Depending on the program I have open of course. The touch features work fine, and to the best of my knowledge all my drivers are up to date. At this point I think I need to simply replace the pen, but before I spend the money on that, i would like to see if any of you know how to fix this without a new pen.  Thank you for your time,BriceJ

Is there a free way to downgrade from Windows 7 to the XP Tablet OS? Our customer has applications that will not run on Win 7.

Answer:X220 downgrade to XP Tablet OS

Hi and welcome to the forum Tom1956!

There is (or was perhaps) an option from lenovo, however it was never free. The following support doc states the downgrade program ended in July, regardless I'd suggest to give them a call and ask:- http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=VSTA-DWNGRD

Hope this helps.

Hi guys, New x220 tablet. Has been working fine, left it for the weekend and coming back to it this morning it will not bootup. Is built with Windows 7 and I had the full functionality of the biometrics running and sync'd with drivelock/bios password. On trying to boot this morning using the power button, I press it once, the button lights green (around edge), for a second, then disappears, the biometric light goes green for a second then disappears.  Nothing else happens from there. Have tried the usual - battery replaced, booting on just power etc but same happens.  I cannot hear or feel the hdd spinning (i have an identical model also which is working fine). Have searched through the forums and inet but cannot find any issues relating to the light sequence etc (wondering if it had a specific sequence to tell me what the errors are).... Suspect HDD has gone as it is just not spinning, but cannot be sure as I cannot get to BIOS or anything else..... Any ideas?

Edited to add: I swapped hdd out and put it in identical tablet - HDD seems to work fine. Popped it back into the offending tablet, tried to switch power on and the green light around power button alternates with biometric light (on and off) for around 30 seconds and ends up with biometric light green and power light off.... Also swapped out memory - still nothing - no access to BIOS etc - no warning beeps...
