Hello, just bought this brand new laptop 2 in 1. I know that the device comes with intel wireless and bluetooth. I am wondering if the device will support atpx? If not who can I talk to so we can get that going? Thanks.

Just bought the new 4k 13 inch spectre x360. So far it has been great, except that I am getting nowhere near the advertised battery life. I have already researched these forums, and read the tips located here - http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c00596784 - and here (translated from Spanish to English) - http://h30467.www3.hp.com/t5/Consejos-de-Expertos-para-notebooks/Consejos-de-mantenimiento-de-Bater%... - and nothing has helped.  In just 2 hours of up time with the screen set to 50% or less, I reached 20% battery remaining. This was only with web browsing and some office processses such as email and Microsoft Word. Do I have a bad battery, or is the battery life overall just not as good (or even close to) advertised? The laptop is less than 30 days old.

Hello. I've been having trackpad issues on my new 2017 Spectre x360 13-ac0xx unit for about two weeks now. Firstly, unlike other techies, I appreciate that the trackpad uses custom Synaptics drivers rather than Microsoft's standard precision touchpads. I've owned both a Surface Pro 4 (w/ type cover) and a Dell XPS 13, which I returned due to their horribly slow and janky Precision touchpads. And although HP has horrible quality control (this is my third Spectre x360 unit, which I recieved 2 weeks ago), I would really like this trackpad issue to be resolved. Ever since I have had the machine, the trackpad has been showing some erratic behavior (which I will describe below). PLEASE NOTE: this is profoundly irritating and I have been trying to troubleshoot this myself for the past few weeks. The previous two Spectre x360 units (bought from Best Buy) did not have this problem, but this third machine (ordered from HP.com) does. There seem to be 3 "separate" problems with the touchpad. The first is that the trackpad sometimes locks up and refuses to track my finger when I'm touching it. The cursor moves on screen only when I fully click-and-drag on the trackpad surface, but otherwise doesn't work. Hello, I am very interested in purchasing an HP Spectre x360 laptop; however, I have been waiting for several months in hopes for the 15.6 inch version to become available in the Ash Silver color. Currently, only the 13.3 inch Spectre comes in Ash Silver (which is a brown color with gold accent designs). I have contacted HP sales representatives and unfortunately they are not privy to this information. They did state that they've received a large volume of inquiries and interest in this specific Ash Silver laptop color, so it seems like more people than just myself would like to see other laptop options available in this color combination. If there are plans to manufacture the 15.6 inch HP Spectre laptop in the Ash Silver color in the near future, could you please let me know? I desperately need a new laptop but have been holding out until the 15.6 inch Spectre x360 is available in the Ash Silver color I want. I just heard info that HP has refresh the Spectre x360 13 at CES 2017 but their is no more info about the refresh spectre x360 13. So, I want to know what's new in the refresh model and when it is coming out to stores?

I saw that the new 2017 kaby lake spectre x360 was compatible with n-trig pens so I bought the surface pen (the one that comes with the new surface pro 4/surface book), I connected the pen via bluetooth however it wont write, the eraser button works and it lauches one note however it doesn't ink, amI missing any drivers? Why isn't it working?

No one can explain why, only NOT compatible. (a) I've tested HP stylus on MS Surface and it won't work.(b) I've tested HP stylus (same as above) on my loan HP Spectre x360 15" and it won't work I believe at this stage, no universal standard otherwise Belkin, Logitech .... would make heaps of them. If you have one of the new 2017 HP Spectre x360 with the stylus, either model number 13-AC013DX or 13-AC023DX or 15-BL012DX.....Have you experienced any battery drain when the device turned OFF completely?This was a known issue for the 2015 Spectre x360 and the late 2016 Spectre x360. It would drain about 1% every 2 hours when turned OFF. I had a late 2016 Spectre x360 that had that problem and I returned it because of that problem.There is a lot of topics about other people having the same problem. But its only for the 2015 and 2016 Spectre x360 models. I have not seen any one with a 2017 stylus model report it on here yet. So I wanted to check if anyone that has 1 of these experienced this?

I was lucky enough to buy one of the new Spectre X360 Ready to Ship model early, but the day after receiving it the Laptop started shutting off when lifted from the left side. It does not shut down when lifted with 2 hands or from the right side. Is also does not shut down when in the screen is rotated to put it in tablet mode. Only when held by left side only when screen is in normal laptop postion. Any thoughts. It's only 5 days old should I return it. Also it is hard to start back up. Need to due a hard reboot by holding power button in for 1 minute w/o AC adapter attached. Does it with and without AC adapter attached.

Just got the 13 inch HP Spectre x360. Latest model with the pen (2017). What a beautiful machine. Love this thing. BUT, the trackpad is completely horrendous. Has a rattle when you even touch it lightly. Annoying. Is this a common problem? I don't want to keep exchanging this laptop if i'll just get another one with this issue. Is anyone else having this issue with the 2017 model. Is it an easy fix? I dont want to return this thing, but, I just might. I come from an Apple Macbook Air. That was the best trackpad I've ever used. This trackpad isn't even close to that. Everything else about this laptop is awesome. Any comments would be helpful in making a decision here.

Hi people.I have been wanting to charge my 2016 spectre x360 (15 inch) laptop with a usb charger since i bought it. I know hp sell a usb charger that should work but i want to use an aftermarket one. Mainly because i want to use a 2 pin power cord so that i can use a folding uk plug with it. (UK plugs are chunky for those that don't know). Also would like the option to charge from any compatible usbc charger i come across along with battery banks etc) I know the 13 inch model got a bios upgrade last year to fix this but even though i did a bios update on mine i cant get my charger to work. Its an Anker A2053 USB-C power delivery power port thing. nothing happens when i plug it in. not even an error message. i have the bios upgrade for this from the 26th october 2016, there is nothing newer that i can see. has anyone got this model working with an aftermarket usbc charger? cheers Rob

Like so many posters here, I am now a among the ranks of those complainants that active pen Stylus will NOT work with this model.  HP.  Is there a simple answer, a a clear declarative sentence, for this reported problem by many, many buyers? Frustrating things more is a call to tech support. 1st call:. " I can confirm no pen Stylus will work with your model.". Then, "Checking further literature, only three models of touchscreen HP computers are compatible with a stylus". Next call to tech support on a hunch no two answers will be same.  This time, "Oh, yes.  I can confirm all touchscreen models are compatible with pen sylus". Me:. Are you sure.  Second tech: "Yes, I assure you".  Me: "Can you explain why the first tech stated none are compatible then found documentation that only three were and mine was not one of them?" Answer:. Hi everyone, I would like to replace the built-in 1TB SSD in my Spectre x360 with a 2TB one (namely, Samsung MZ V6E2 S24 A450BW SSD 960 Evo Nvme) Two questions: 1. Is this possible at all? Here is the Manual: Service Manual Yes it absolutely will support the 2 TB NVME M.2. (You must have robbed a bank to buy one).  The warranty will be fine as long as you cause no damage in the process. Hi I've been looking for an extra spare charger for the HP Spectre x360 15in 2017 model.I travel between the US and Europe (mainland [Belgium]) a lot and would like a charger with EU plug so I don't need to work with extra convertors and whatnot. I've looked at the repair site but they only seem to show US plug models?Only way in Belgium to get any info is to contact a retailer. I've contacted a few but they don't seem to know either. If not for sale through HP, could a separate cable from power brick to plug work? So 3 point clover to EU type plug. I assume power is drawn through the brick so the cable itself shouldn't matter much. Thanks in advance!

The display in the 2016 model of the HP Spectre x360 15 4K turned out not to be as advertised, and it is possible that they are using the same display in the new model. The 2016 HP Spectre x360 15 display used the RG/BW Pentile matrix to more or less "cheat" the ability to advertise as 4K UHD 3840x2160, without actually providing the full detail of the resolution. HP Spectre x360 15 false-4K demonstration HP Spectre x360 13 true-QHD demonstration (for comparison, 13.3" model's high res display is true) The new one could be using a completely different display, but given HP's track record with pentile I would say it is better to wait for reviews in order to confirm that. I will update this post or make a follow-up post once I am able to confirm the type of display used in this laptop.

I need a definitive answer. Everywhere on the internet I have searched I haven't gotten one, is the new 2017 kaby lake model of the HP spectre x360 AC013DX, i7-5500 CPU compatible with an active stylus. If so is it compatible with the dell 750 AAGN active stylus? I have checked the compatibilty list however it says that it isn't compatible however I have seen useres reporting that it comes with a stylus and ebay sellers, multiple of them, saying that it is compatible with a stylus and one that even comes with one. HP has done a terrible job of the calirty of styluses and it has taken me over a month to try and get an answer but I haven't so I ask on here now. Somebody please clear this up for me.

I have the Spectre model X7V20UA#ABA and based on this answer bought an HP Active Pen.  I cannot get teh machine to acknowledge the pen in any way. I've followed what instructions I could find (basically have the pen near the computer when you turn the computer off and then back on) and it will nto use it in One Note.  Is this an incompatible device?

Was a new version of the Kaby Lake 13.3 Spectre x360 convertible released around April 2017 that supports the stylus? I have an original Kaby Lake 13.3 x360 purchased Feb 2017 and couldn't get the active stylus to work. Tech support said that the 13t-wx00 product W9A93AV doesn't support the stylus. Now I see that a stylus is furnished free with what appears to be the exact computer I purchased. I have been unable to get an answer from technical support as we have difficulties communicating. Does anyone know if the stylus is supported on my Spectre? I returned my original HP active stylus after tech support said they don't work even though the advertising at the time showed people using a stylus. Now they are giving one away free and I don't understand???? Can I update my convertible to work with the stylus? It's frustrating as I purchased the unit thinking the stylus would work and now feel cheated! I guess that's what I get for buying a brand new product.

Purchased Spectre 15 X360 (2017 model) a few days. Machine does not shut down or sleep. within seconds of shut down or sleep, starts up again. On Shutdown : restarts within seconds.On Sleep : comes back to login screen. Closing the lid doesnt help either.  Only way to shut the PC is by hard shutdown by pressing the power button for a few seconds. talked to customer support for couple of days without any luck.Tried system restore, all possible power options, updated windows / hp packs. Purchased the system in US and since I am out of the country, unable to return. Would like to know if anyone else have faced similar problem with this laptop. Being a new model that started shipping last week, there will be only a few out there.

 Hello I recently bought the HP spectre x360 13-ac003na (in the UK) and love it. I would like to buy an extra charger for it and maybe a replacement for the stylus that came with it as I am bound to lose it at some point.  Charger:My model is apparently TPN-DA07 and says to replace with spare 860210-850 (see photo)I found this on the HP website: http://store.hp.com/UKStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=V5Y26AA&opt=ABU&sel=ACC However this does not look identical and does not list the spectre x360 as a compatible product. Will it work?Pen:The pen that came in the box is shown in image below. As i understand it, this pen uses n-trig technology which is different to previous spectre models. Hello All, There was one similar thread, but it seemed to be closed. When the power is plugged in on this new machine (7th Gen CPU / etc., but not the new model with the pen), there is a very faint static noise (possibly to the speakers). With the power disconnected it is not audible. Anyone else hear this?  FYI, it can be heard when the system is in sleep - not just when it is on.  It does not sound like "coil whine" - it could be bad grounding or something like that. R

Got my Spectre X360 15.6 2017 edition few days ago and immediately notice this very annoying issue. In short, the touch function is disabled for about 2 seconds after using the pen, which means everytime when you finish writing something with the pen, you have to wait for about 2 seconds before the touch screen responds to your finger input.  This is really annoying, it slows down my workflow dramatically. And I have never experienced this kind of issue before on any other devices using NTrig digitizer, and I have used a lot NTrig devices (Fujistu 550, HTC Flyer, Sony Vaio Duos, Vaio Flips, Microsoft Surfaces). But I did noticed similar issues on some Wacom AES devices like the Thinkpad Yoga 14. I do remember HP mentioned somewhere that the pen uses Universal Windows Pen protocol, Is this part of the new protocol? Anyway, please please please, HP! Fix this problem and release a firmware update ASAP, I really like the Spectre X360, You guys did a good job in general, but this is a deal breaker, I would hate to send it back.

Hi after being bounced back to and fro from various departments of HP I'm still unable to get Pen support on my Spectre x360 13t-4200 model. I've came a few people that didn't have the firmware but were able to download it for their 15t series,  but so far I get a failed operation when I try to install the firmware. The same pen works on my sister's last year's model. Attached is a screen shot. ANy help is welcomed as I'm a graphic artist, I need my active stylus functionality  Please & Thank you. 13t-4200  13-4003

Hi I have bought my PC on 2015 summer in Bestbuy - San Diego Similar to many posts in this board, it just died "by itself" 15 months later on Sepotermber 2016. While browsing it just died and you cannot power back the laptop. I live in Turkey and HP Turkey office is not helping at all, trying to charge me around 600 $ for mainboard replacement! I have talked to compaint management in Turkey that despite the global warranty period of 12 monthts is over, this is a very chorinic fault that is related to many many people around the globe and I've cited this forum link.  This problem is not unique to me, many people who bought this laptop in summer 2015 are experiencing the same problem! Turkish support office is still making me wait for 2 months saying we are still examining your case! I dont want to believe HP is not standing behind  serious product faults that are resulted from their manufacturing operations. This product is a high end product competining with products such as Macbook and such a fault and HP's ignorance cannot be tolerated. I am planning to open a court case unless HP will stand behind this fault product and replace it! Please help. Dogus Sahin

I have recetly purchased this product. I tried a Dell active stylus 750 AAGN with it which did not work with OneNote. Writing with finger works fine. I have read that Dell should work fine, and the problem (at least on spectre x360 15) can be solved by updating a driver or firmware. I was wondering if such a solution exists for the 13 inch model, and if yes, where can I get the driver/firmware from. Thanks

This is an i7 7th generation laptop. I was told that all 7th gen laptops come with Windows Ink. However it does not say it comes with pen compatability when I look it up. I am a design student and it is vital for me to have a pen that works well with this laptop. Could someone provide me with the correct pen, or whether or not a pen will even work with this specific model?

 My Spectre is connected to the internet via WLAN. The Operating System (Win 10) was updated a few days ago. The Bluetooth System does not detect any Bluetooth devices any more. It keeps searching without any detected devices. There are no error messages. In the devices list in the system the bluetooth speakers are not displayed.The problem is permanentMy Bluetooth speakers functioned with this Spectre a few days ago. These Speakers work with my Smartphone and Bluetooth connection without any problems. My Samsung smartphone is near the Spectre with bluetooth enabled. It was coupled with the spectre a few weeks ago and functioned, but suddenly this does not function any more either. The smartpjone connects to other bluetooth devices (and the bluetooth speakers) without any problems.I tried to connect to the speakers with the Spectre after disabling the speakers in the smartphone bluetooth connection- no success.I have tried deinstalling and reinsatlling the bluetooth drivers in the Spectre- but the result is the same. The system says that the bluetooth is functioning and that the drivers are up to date.Your help would be much appreciated.With best regardsIvor Novello

If you mean the 2016 model with thin side bezels (that didn't come with a pen), no, there is no hardware support for any kind of active pen. If you have a the older 2015 model with thicker bezels, then yes, it has a (pretty horrible IMO) Synaptics digitizer, and you can purchase a pen from HP. Most of the customer reps I spoke to couldn't give me a definitive answer, so this knowledge is my personal research by testing the laptop out myself. Hope this helps. Cheers!

I Just want to let you guys all know that the new x360 Envy's and Spectre's have no pen support whatsoever. Previous models had a active digitizer. The latest line does not nor does it support any fine tip pen. Deceptive advertising from HP considering they had Ads up of the laptops next to their active pen. Infact as of now the Envy and Spectre webpage still recommend this uncompatible pen. The HP support on this forum and through calling in actually have little product knowledge and just regergitate what they see searching google and on the forums.

I purchased myQC35's 29 Aug 2016 and my experience is the same - no problem in Android, no problem with sound from video etc on Windows 10 on, HP Elitebook 840 G2.  But just static from the the QC35 microphone in ZOOM and Skype calls on the HP Elitebook 840 G2 - I have tried the most up to date MicroSoft supplied Bluetooth drivers and also tried the HP support site drivers - same result.

Hi there I own a HP Spectre x360 - 13-4070nz (ENERGY STAR) and I just acquired a Bluetooth Headset from Bose, the new Bose QC 35. The headset works like a charm any Windows 10 PC I tried (Dell XPS13, Lenovo Yoga) and with my Android Nexus 5X. However, I have a blocker issue if I use it with the Spectre x360. Pairing works, even if I had to repeat the process several times. Once paired, listening to music works mostly fine ? in stereo mode.The problem arises when I try to perform a call. The problem is the same with any program, Skype, Skype For Business, Skype Preview or my Softphone (Bria). I can hear the counterpart, but they can only hear a really loud static noise. I tried an Echo / sound test service with Skype, and the recorded sound is exactly as my counterpart described. I can record and attach it if you want.I have updated all drivers, soundcard, Bluetooth, BIOS, I have updated from Windows 10 to Windows 10 Anniversary update, and I have update the QC35 from 1.0.3 to 1.06. Nothing helps. I have tried all possible setting configuration, remove the Bluetooth device, added it again etc. Still static noise.It is clearly an issue with the Spectre x360, and as far as I know this model had several other Bluetooth issues before. Therefore my question to HP: could you please look into it and update the drivers to support the Bose QC35, which is a hit on the market?Thank you and best regards

Brand new spectre x360. It's a beautiful machine except for the wireless. I'll itemize the issues that I'm having with the laptop. - Got the laptop and after 3 weeks all of a sudden it decided not to connect to my home wireless network.  I absoluty have no clue why this is happening. It seems to happen randomly. I'm working alone for 3 to 4 days and one morning it just decides not to connect. I got my desktop, phone and tablet all able to connect without any problems. - The second issue is with the bluetooth. As soon as I connect my sony bluetooth headphones the wireless internet connection drops. The onyl way to reconnect to the internet is to disconnect the bluetooth headphones. So I can either have wireless internet or the bluetooth headphones but not both at the same time. - The last problem is that through out the day the wireless connection randomly drops. Try loading a webpage and the browser gives me a connection error but the laptop says it's connected. Only after I disconnect and reconnect the laptop that I can start browsing again. I've uninstalled and reinstalled both the hp and intel drivers.

Hi there. I have recenty purchased an HP Spectre x360 i7-6500u and was wondering if this laptop can support internet gigabit speeds? The reason I ask, is that I have gigabit internet speed through our ISP but I'm getting nowhere close to that speed. Here's a little more info as to how I've been testing my ISP's gigabit speed: - Tested using a wired LAN ethernet connection (using a purchased USB 3.0 to gigabit ethernet adapter) Cat 6E cable direct into ISP modem. Only achieving 300 to 400 down and 25 to 35 up. Where as the ISP speeds are 1000 down and 50 up. The technician that was here this morning when testing the exact setup using his old Lenovo laptop was achieving 700 down and 35 up. - Tested using the stock wifi modem in the HP Spectre and connecting to the ISP modem using the 5 Ghz channel was still only giving me 300 to 400 down and 25 to 35 up. Strange enough, the technicians laptop when testing in wifi as I did above, gave him similar results of 300 to 400 down and 25 to 35 up. So my main question here to the HP technical support team, is if someone can let me know if this new HP Spectre x360 can support internat gigabit speeds. Based on what I've tested above, it may appear that this new laptop is not ready for these types of speeds.   Hi HP techies, I just bought a HP Active Stylus with App Launch (T4Z24AA ) for my Spectre x360 13-4124nf (2016) since I expected I a high quality pen with pressure handling. I knew there was a firmware update required in order to make it run with the Spectre, after reading the US forums. Unfortunatly, there is no touch screen firmware update available for my Spectre model, but there is one for the 15 inches model ! My questions (HP French support wasn't able to answer) : Is there any chance this firmware update including my stylus handling feature will be released for my Spectre model ?Is there any information about a release date, so I know if I have to return the stylus to the French retailer ? As you guessed, an english version a the firmware would by just enough for me.   Thanks for kind help.

Hi there @jwg?,  Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome! I read your post on the HP Support Forums and see that you are having issues with the Facial Recognition Login on your Notebook with Windows 10.  I would suggest rolling back to Windows 8.1 if you can for now as not all of the driver's are available yet for Windows 10. I am unaware of any updates as of yet for the Facial Recognition Login. However, updated Windows 10 drivers will become available on your specific products HP Drivers and Downloads Page  as they are released and become available to HP. If you are unable to roll back, here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that need updating for Windows 10.  You could also keep trying Windows Updates. They are coming out with new resolutions for these issues daily.  Have a great day!

What's the difference between the HP Spectre x360 and the HP Envy x360? They both look the same.The only noticeable difference is that HP Spectre x360 has a Radiance Infinity display, while HP Envy x360 has an IPS display. Having the same specs, except for the display, why is the Spectre x360 more expensive than the Envy x360 ? Moreover, I thought that IPS is better than TN, which is my guess that is the technology used for the Radiance Infinity.

Hi,  Hopefully someone can shed some light on this issue. I purchased an HP Spectre 32-inch 4K display off of Kijiji (similar to craigslist) and it was working flawlessly for about 2 weeks. Now, every so often it will flash a black or multi-colored strip on a random portion of the screen. I've tried with, and without my graphics card, and have completely updated the onboard graphics on my PC as well so I doubt it is an issue with my computer. Has anyone else come across this issue before? I've attempted to look up the monitors serial and model number to see if it is in warranty but a different product appears when I enter it on the hp website (perhaps this is a replacement monitor I purchased off of someone without knowing?)

Just got the Spectre X360 15" - awesome computer.  I've owned many laptops over the years, but I've never been puzzled over exactly the best way to open a laptop! I've been lifting the front edge up off the table and using two hands to open it by jamming my thumbnails into the front notch and separating the lid from the bottom.  There's got to be an easier way! How do you open yours?Can you do it with one hand?

Brand new Spectre X360.  Battery drains 0.8% per  hour while Spectre is shutdown.  There is ZERO battery drain of spouse's Surface notebook.  I have disabled fast start up.  USB ports are not in use.  This is a serious problem as I leave my notebook off for several days and could drain to zero possibly damaging battery.

Hi!I just purchased the brand new x360, which I love.  My only issue is that the power cord doesn't stay into the USB C charging port, so any maneuvering or flipping the laptop, or other motions and gestures, loosens the contact and the laptop stops charging.Does anyone else have this issue?  Could this be an issue with the cord itself?  Feels as though when plugged in, there is still some wiggle room and it's certainly not snug.

Right from the initial boot-up, my brand new Spectre 360 15 (2017) has had problems with the touchscreen.  The screen is detecting 'ghost touches" when I am nowhere near it.  I have followed the suggestions from the online assistant, and tried to calibrate, but that has not solved the problem.  In fact, I was lucky to be able to get that far, since the false input detected by the machine is causing it to open and close things without my asking. I just dropped $2,000 on this, and love the concept.  Not impressed with my experience, and very nervous about what this means going forward.  Is this model fundamentally flawed?  Did I get a lemon?  And why can't I call someone to ask for help?

Hello, Last winter purchased a convertible lenovo laptop. The first one had faulty hinges, I had it replaced on the same day I brought it in and the second one had faulty hinges and a faulty touchpad. So, I decided to ditch the cheaper computers and splurged on a HP spectre x360 from Best Buy. I live 200 kilometres away from large retail stores like this so getting back and forth is quite difficult, Staples was very understanding about the Lenovo laptops, however Best Buy told me there was nothing I could do when I described the problems I was having with my brand new HP. Several months went by and I avoided using the computer as much as possible in order to avoid facing the mistake I made in purchasing it. Eventually, my old computer became completely obsolete and I had no choice but use this HP.  My problems were not limited in any way. They ranged from an extremely annoying touchpad that sounded loose and made strange noises, the fact that the screen was closing on an odd angle, and the fact the the screen could barely stay open. A slight touch or even shifting the laptop would cause the screen to move. I could forgive these flaws if I had abused this computer or if it had received heavy usage, however I barely even turned the thing on. Just finished setting up my second Spectre x360 15t. The first one was a driver and screen flickering mess. As I'm finishing putting it through it's paces by running audio with a few tunes through Spotify and then over to Netflix to check dialogue, I've become aware that the fan has been running for some time. When I picked it up to feel the underside I was quite dismayed to feel how hot this thing was. Not cozy up to the fire hot but call the fire department hot. It was on a Xpad which was starting to get a bit toasty itself. No way this could ever sit directly on my lap. I know this is an ultrabook. I know i7 processors run warm under load but this fella gets HOT. I'm coming off a Spectre 13t with an i5 which is just as tight a unit as this one, but it never reached this kind of hot. I'm humorously concerned if I can put this on my desk while under heavy load without melting the finish off. Is anyone else experiencing similar circumstances? I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Question: HP Spectre x360

Upon opening the notebook on my desk, a series of cracks surfaced on the upper-left bezel of the screen, and extended across the screen. I keep my notebook for the most part on my desk, and when I travel, I put in the HP leather case, and in a well-paded bag. I've owned this notebook since August last year, and it has performed excellently besides the occaisonal loud fan noise and overheat.  I talked with a helpful HP Customer Support Rep, and I was told that if I were to send in my notebook, and screen damage will be presumed inflicted by the customer. I have also been in contact with the HP Executive board, but their reply did not grant me any help. I would like to know if I can send in my notebook for a proper examination, or if I can speak with a case manager on this issue. I really do not want to file a complaint to the BBB, but I feel that will be necessary if the material defect is to be assumed a damage on my part. Thank you in advance. I will include pictures of my display, as well as pictures of the siding to prove the lack of physical/blunt damage.

HP's lack of quality control is completely unacceptable and inexcusable, especially given the cost of the Spectre x360 line.I went through 5 (FIVE!) 13-inch Spectre x360's. All but one exhibited very loose trackpads (even very light taps will physically move the trackpad down and have an annoying loose click sound when taking your finger off of it). The one with an okay trackpad had USB-C issues. The trackpad -- arguable THE most important part of a laptop -- now feels like garbage. Hell, there are $200 Windows laptops and Chromebooks that have better trackpads than this $1,200 thing.It's extremely frustrating and disappointing. I REALLY wanted for the Spectre x360 to be my laptop (especially considering there's no other 2-in-1 out there that looks this good and is priced as nicely). Looks like the Lenovo Yoga 720 is next on my list. Just wish it had IR cameras for facial logins.

Hi, I have an HP Spectre x360 that is a year and 5 months old. I was running it off the battery when suddenly a whole lot of smoke started coming from underneath the notebook and a smell of burnt plastic filled the air. Reading the forum I found that this is not something new to these HP Spectre x360 notebooks. Its it really possibile that HP have not activated a support program for who owns such an expensive notebook. My notebook is out of warrenty but I honestly think it was a close call, i was working on a wooden table when it started burning. Now I have a 1250 euro paper weight. I did try to contact support and was immediatly cut off once i gave them my serial number, or offered to pay for support. Will paying 30 euros actually achieve something, ie will they attempt a repair or will it be 30 euros just to be told over the phone that its something that simply cannot be repaired. Thanks

I'm looking for a 13-inch laptop for myself and have narrowed it down to these two models. Need your help in choosing :)
I'm thinking about such config for both: i7-7560U + Iris Plus Graphics 640 + 16GB RAM + 512GB SSD. As for the screen, I'm still on the fence about it, not sure if I want the best possible res (QHD for Dell, 4K for HP) or the best battery life by going FullHD. Can you guys share your battery life experience with the best screens for these? I'm going to use it primarily for browsing / office work / coding (VS and VS Code) / light photo editing (Lightroom, Photoshop)
For the x360, I like Windows Hello camera (and webcam at the top ) and build quality. And it's a bit cheaper.
For the XPS 13, it's battery life and better port selection

The 1-minute hold of the power switch worked for me, but it is darn hard to do because of the somewhat inconvenient power switch position - and if you waver for a moment then the 60 seconds starts again. I found it easiest to turn the 360 on its side on a table and then it is easier to hold the switch down for the full minute uninterrupted. This for me only points out the importance for manufacturers to provide a HARD RESET capability through an unfolded paperclip or the like. C'mon guys, give us what we need to maintain our products!

Question: HP Spectre x360

New owner of HP Spectre x360 - 13-4003dx here. I want to ask if the bottom of the laptop, the area above the fan openings where the FCC info/text lies, is supposed to creak when I press it slightly. I first heard this noise when I took my laptop out of the sleeve and held that area. At first I thought it was just rubbing against the sleeve, but after further examination, that is not the case. If this occurs with other models of the Spectre, it is a bad build quality, I am not sure which component is under there, but I want to know if the creaking noise is normal with only a slight press along the text area. Thanks.

Hi, my spectre x360 just out of warranty and will no longer charge the battery! Charger checked and working. When plugged into laptop, symbol appears to show connection but then states not charging. Get-SpeculationControl seems to check for Meltdown (CVE-2017-5754) and only part of Spectre (CVE-207-5715) - not CVE-2017-5753. Any insight into how to check for this other part of the Spectre vulnerability? Or why it isn't addressed by this check? Are the fixes redundant?

The main goal of this PowerShell script, is not to test if your CPU is vulnerable or to test if the patches have been installed. The main goal is to check if the mitigations are active.
 
The mitigations for CVE-2017-5754 and CVE-2017-5715 are configurable (can be enabled or disabled via registry: https://support.microsoft.com/en-za/help/4072698/windows-server-guidance-to-protect-against-the-speculative-execution), and mitigating CVE-2017-5715 requires a microcode update.
 
The mitigation for CVE-2017-5753 is not configurable, and does not require a microcode update.
 
If the Windows patch for Meltdown/Spectre has been installed on your machine, then mitigation for CVE-2017-5753 is active.

Hello ,First I want to say that I tried contacting HP sales in 5pm they said that they are working from 8am to 2 am which is already a warning sign ...I am planning on buying HP Spectre x360 ash silver.I love how it looks and also the performance is really good for the money.My concern is that I have read so many complains of cracked screen from itself ( design flaw or uncalculated pressure on the screen or heating up too much , something is causing the screens to crack ...) Hp hasn't made official statement on this issue and so far I understood that the warranty doesn't cover it.I don't want to spend so much money on something that will break from itself and the warranty won't cover it.Is there someway to include this issue in the warranty before buying the laptop?

I recently bought a HP Spectre x360 13-w003ng and for security reasons in case of loss or theft I would like to encrypt the SSD with a password. Most premium devices have a HDD password option in the BIOS. Unfortunately, I couldn't find that option in the BIOS of this device. Does that mean it is not possible to set such a password on this particular notebook?

Every HP laptop I have ever owned has the option to set a power on or administrator password in BIOS. Under Security you should find the settings.

It should be an easy thing to do. Contact HP Sales with my computer information, order the accessory I would like to purchase. Turns out, not easy at all. So I'm asking here: does anyone know of an Active Pen that will work with the Spectre x360? Hello I would like to use an HP for my work laptop, howver it needs to have a TPM chip. Do any of the black/copper Spectre X360s have a TPM chip. Especially these models: 13-4116dx Or one of the new 13 models - although not happy 13s dont come in black only silver. HP Spectre x360 13-ac075nr (New Model) Thanks

I have purchased my Spectre x360 back in 2015,  and i have been using it for less than a year. So far, the laptop experience have been rather satisfying. Apart from experiencing minor glitches initially, the updates helped and the laptop worked just fine and smoothly. Though, the speakers stil have rattling sound when played loudly.  Until recently, couple weeks back the laptop went haywire as i was doing my assignments. Without any signs to indicate any mechanical problems, the whole system just shut down. i couldn't switch it on, nor could i even charge it. So i have called up the service centre, and since it is still under warranty, they have replaced the motherboard. On the bright side, I did not lose any datas or files. However, I have discovered my case wasn't the first to happen as there was one earlier case which was much severe. The laptop's motherboard literally burnt. The bottom part was all black and all data was lost  . The following image was the default in my product that has occured recently.   Hope to receive advise and any precautionary steps to avoid this mishap. Thanks.
