Preferred Solution: you have a typo on your main page

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I noticed that we got a plug on the main page a few days ago -- I think it was on 5-21. Since then, we have gotten 8 new members. Whoever made that happen deserves a pat on the back and I think running it periodically would be a great idea.

On another note, I am poised to break into the top ten in a little over 2 weeks... try and stop me

Hello!

I've been trying to figure out how to get the RSS feed for the news articles under the "Featured" tab on Yahoo's main page (located directly on yahoo.com). There are always 5 articles on it, which seem to be specially hand picked by Yahoo staff.

Does anyone know of a way to get the RSS of only those 5 articles? (I am pretty sure that it would have to be something custom.)

Thanks in advance

Good morning!
Or rather not, it is really raining heavily here!
Anyway, I have committed a real stupid. I installed an 'Ashampoo' programme and I did not notice that it changed the page I log onto when I click on the internet. It is now something that looks very like - but much smaller than - Google but I wish to have my Tiscali/TalkTalk page back! Yes I know I am sad but I have had a tiscali address for many years and I quite like it for all the problems I have with it. I thin I could do a roll back to, say, yesterday but I have just changed/cleaned my registry and I don't want ( or rather would not ) to have to do it again. Anyway any help/advice/information to correct my error would be very much appreciated! Many thanks in advance.

Answer:Changing IE main page?

In IE9, press tool button (a yellow cog wheel top right in toolbar). Select internet options and put in the default you want in the home page section.

Dear Forum:

I use Internet Explorer 8 in Windows XP 3. My main browser mainpage is MSN. I have others like Google, and Yahoo. I prefer MSN as the main browser, however. For the last three days or so, when I log in to get on line, I've seen the top part of the MSN page-the part that includes the headlines and address bar (so I can navigate to other pages), has simply been erased or something. Only the bottom parts of the headline lettering appears. Other people appear to be having this problem as well. I don't have any bugs in the system as far as I can tell. What's going on? Is MSN being targeted? The Microsoft main site would probably charge me an arm and a leg for a fix that they should be providing their customers for free. The Google and Norton toolbars are there, but they have never blocked out the MSN main pages.

Any suggestions? Steve

Ok, this is really weird. I've looked high and low to see how I could fix this but haven't figured it out. I have had IE 8.0 installed since it came out. I can access every webpage on the planet except the yahoo main page. If I type "mail.yahoo.com" or "sports.yahoo.com" I can see those pages fine. But acessing plain "yahoo.com" just gives me a blank page and the bar at the bottom just says "done". It doesn't say "cannot display page", the page is just completely white. I've checked all my settings and can't figure it out. I had a bout with a virus about a year ago and thanks to several great people on this board, I completely clensed my system and have had no problems since. I had no issues accessing the main yahoo page with other versions of IE.

I have firefox installed and can acess yahoo there just fine, but I use both browsers for various tasks and this one is just plain bugging me. Anybody have any thoughts?

Answer:Cannot access Main Yahoo page with IE8

Well, in my experience with it, IE8 is a little finicky with the syntax of what you type into the address bar.Click this link and see what you get: http://www.yahoo.com/Also, try typing just yahoo, then hitting Ctrl + Enter on your keyboard (Save 15 Keystrokes ? Use Ctrl + Enter to Complete URL - How-To Geek)

Hi,

I am thinking of downloading a spyware removal tool from your main page called Comodo BOClean Anti Malware. I already use spybot, adaware, malwarebytes and SuperAntispyware. Can having too many of these programs be harmful like having more than one anti virus program? Does this particular program consume a lot of system resources?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,
Sandi

Answer:? about a spyware tool on your main page

Antispyware programs are different from antivirus programs, and it's generally OK to run two or three different spyware protection programs. I have seen PCs running Spysweeper, Defender, BOclean, and SpyBot with no negative effects on performance or stability. I have seen SpyBot slow down some PCs with older CPUs and less than 512mb of RAM, so I don't recommend it for older, resource limited computers. I use BOClean on my home PC and it runs great. True, I have a dual core CPU and 3gb of DDR2 memory, but I'm pretty sure that BOClean is easy on resources, and gets along with other apps.

To reset the message count, click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT

Navigate to:

HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail

Look in the subkey for each e-mail account. The value you're looking is MessageCount

Double clickthe MessageCount entry and set the value to 0.

To disable this option completely visit my web site,

I hit the home button in firefox, which is supposed to go to google, and i noticed that it was taking longer than usual being that google usually pops up immediately after I press the button. After a couple of seconds I saw the familiar google logo that I am used to and then I looked up to the address bar and saw this address: http://search.entru.com/?s=21983 I refreshed the page thinking I had maybe done or clicked something that copied that web address there and once again after a couple second I saw what looked like google. Then I opened another window and went to the actual google site. Once there I could see that there were differences. The colors although close were not exactly the same and the text, like advanced search was not only very weird looking but it was spelled advances. The last difference I saw was that on the real google page there was a bar at the top of the page with the News, Video, Shopping etc... links and on the weird page there was no bar at the top. Does anyone out there know what it is? I doubt that its just google hit with a domain smack or anything like that. This seems really shady and I wonder how my home got set to it in the first place. If you know what this is PLEASE ADVISE.

Thanks

Hi,

Im at work rigth now and we have two computers. The one Im typing on works just fine. The second one has a little problem... Internet Explorer takes about 5 minutes to startup the main page WHATEVER the main page is. Once the first page is loaded, it works just fine, highspeed as it should. I started the day with IE 6 and updated it to version 7 thinking it might help but nope, no change. The computer has been scanned with Norton antivirus Corporate edition, up to date as well as Ad-aware SE plus. The Cookies, history and all have been cleared and I defragged.. In case that helps...
So whats going on? Im thinking it might be corrupted files in the IE program itself that cant be fixed by just updating IE, then i might need the windows XP cd to fix it?

What else could it be?

Not sure if there's a better place to put this so I'll be on the lookout to see if it gets moved.

Okay. Our bank has just changed over to a new internet banking set up and posted information on the old site address telling us that site will no longer work. Fair enough - I can accept that part. However, they're also saying that we shouldn't bookmark the banking page "for security purposes" but can bookmark the main page.

Accessing (bank's) Internet Banking
(bank) has now launched our new Internet Banking site. If you had previously accessed Internet Banking via a bookmark, this link will no longer work.
To access our new and improved Internet Banking, please visit (bank).com and follow the prompts from the homepage. For security purposes, we recommend that you no longer bookmark our Internet Banking site and you access it directly by visiting or bookmarking (bank).com.Click to expand...

My question is how can it be safer to use a bookmark for their main page and follow a link to banking from there rather than bookmark the login page directly?? After all, the login page is an https and the main page is only an http. To the best of my knowledge, if your browser is being hijacked, it would make no difference whether you were using a bookmark to the login page, a bookmark to the bank's home page and click on the internet banking link or typed in the bank's address and THEN followed the internet banking link.

Answer:Our bank says bookmarks aren't safe and to use the main page??

I think you are misunderstanding what they are saying.

For security purposes, we recommend that you no longer bookmark our Internet Banking site and you access it directly by visiting or bookmarking (bank).com.Click to expand...

They are asking you to no longer use the old bookmark (because eventually the site will be gone) and to bookmark the new site.

Edit: Doh! I've fixed it. I checked an option by accident in Firefox's advanced tab by accident yesterday.

Silly me.

Answer:Firefox blocking main YouTube page redirect?

Go to Tools and select Options (or Firefox Button and Options..), click the Advanced Tab. Inside here click the General Tab and deselect "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page" under Accessibility.

You may see if whitelisting YouTube for NoScript helps.

You could also try disabling/enabling Auto-reload:
In a new tab type "about:config" and search for "accessibility.blockautorefresh".

To block it - set it to true
To unblock it - set it to false.

You may also have a third party addon corrupting YouTube on Firefox.

My OE 6 address book main page displays a default 4 headings: name, email, home phone, business phone. I can rearrange, stretch or shrink these, but can't figure how to display any other headings. Fax number or mobile number would be useful to me on the main page. At present I open a person's individual identity file to see them, a tedious process.

Well once again my computer is overrun with spyware. It seems like no matter how many times I try and fix this it always gets messed up again.

First of all, we have these endless pop-ups, all titled "Aurora"

Second of all, the homepage has been hijacked. No matter how many times I try to change it back to Comcast.net it keeps coming up as "res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\shdocpl.dll/security.htm#subID=MPV;401". I've run Ad-aware and the VX2 Cleaner... as well as clean-up and SpyBot search and destroy. I tried to get rid of the homepage thing in Hijackthis, but it keeps coming back.

Oh and my virus program, Norton, hasn't been working at all... It won't let us reinstall it or anything...

I need major HELP!

Download Ewido Security Suite at http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ and install it. Update to the newest definitions. Do NOT run it yet.

Please download nailfix at http://users.pandora.be/bluepatchy/nailfix.zip (for Windows XP) or http://users.pandora.be/bluepatchy/nailfix2k.zip (for Windows 2000) Unzip it to the desktop but do NOT run it yet.

Reboot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work.

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on nailfix.bat (or nailfix2k.bat if you have Windows 2000). Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Next run a full scan in Ewido. Post the log from the Ewido scan here.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

ok, hi, im new, and not really good with computers. Just recently, like today, when i turned on my computer, the very first screen, the hp invent screen, appeared like normal. It has the esc=bootmenu and the F1 Setup options as well as F10 System Recovery. AFter that screen, it becomes black, with a little typing ticker in the upper right corner. The windows xp starting thing doesnt even show up. The only way i can get to windows is if i use bootmenu, and sometimes that doesnt even work. System Recovery doesn't work at all. Does anyone know what is wrong? Is it a virus?

All,

I am running ASP.NET application using IE 7.0.
I have Home page ,which composes of few links to other pages and also a breadcrum links on top of home page.Home page is desgined in such a way that we are using iframe in home page html under which different pages are loaded.

when user clicks on different links we are loading different pages inside iframe within home page..and also at the same time we are change the breadcrum appropriately...E.g. on click of 'Page1' link ,we load page1 inside iframe and also in breadcrum it will show as "Home\Page1" ....now user click on Page2 link..now we load 'Page2' in iframe... and breadcrum will show as "Home\Page2"....Now user user 'back button' of browser, now browser will load 'Page1' in frame but breadcrum is still showing "Home\Page2"...
My query is breadcrum should also have been Changed which is part of home page.
As of my knowledge when we use 'Browser Back' button, page will loaded from broswer history cache.Back button hit will never executes any code written in Asp.net aspx page. This is purely browser caching issue.

I assum broswer might be storing only iframe content (storing entire home page) in browser history cache.... So hence retireving only iframe content...

If my assmuption is correct if u have understood my problem correctly ...Could some one help me solve this problem.

Okay helping a friend via long distance phone calls and the random email. This is the only info I have, if someone could shed some light on this and help, we both would appreciate it. Here is the email she was able to send:

"Still messing with that damn trojan. AVG sees it and asks the usual, delete, heal, or move to vault. No matter how many times I choose delete, or heal or even move, it comes back again and again. Question: Microsoft Typo

Microsoft made a typo in their WinSAT application, How can we let them know about it?

Answer:Microsoft Typo

Hi Steven,

You can try contacting them by following the link below. Whether or not you will get a response I cannot say. I have managed to locate the error in the 'WinSAT.exe' file (notice the space between the letters), and you can edit it to replace the erroneous 'o' with an 'i', however by doing so you will probably cause it to fail an SFC scan. In my opinion, it is such a minor error that it is probably best left ignored.

I mistyped a url earlier (I believe i typed 'radiosahck' instead of radioshack) and was redirected to a strange website (something about internet surveys I believe) I closed it right away and did a quick scan with malwarebytes to make sure nothing was wrong, and it came up empty. I'm probably being a bit paranoid here, but is this anything to really worry about?

Answer:Odd URL typo redirect...

Redirects can be something to worry about, as you have no idea what content is being hosted on the re-direct. Most popular anti virus programs, have real-time scanning, where it's constantly scanning your computer, and as soon as you're redirected to a bad website, it will block any content that's harmful to your computer. I use Eset and it does this.

Hi can someone please help clear up my concerns because I accidentally interned the wrong DNS address on my new router.
After entering this typo I almost immediately that my connection was unstable especially on Linux and yesterday evening when I logged back into my router the DNS settings were set to there defaults. But I was able to surf the web kinda in Windows though it timed out often and certain webpages wouldn't even open, and now when ever I enter the correct DNS settings it disconnects from the internet.

Here's what I entered

222.67.222.222
220.67.220.220

Instead of

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

I'm really feeling uneasy and stressed about this, any advice?

Why does stuff like this happen whenever your in poor health or any other of life's trials and complications?

Answer:Open DNS typo on router

Two things you might check:

1. In Windows, do your Network Properties have a DNS Server entry(s) that point(s) to your router (probably 192.168.1.1 or close) or do they point to the published OpenDNS IP addresses? Easy check: From an Elevated Command Prompt: ipconfig /all

2. After you corrected the DNS router entries, did you have the router do a cold reboot?

I believe you shouldn't overly stress yourself over this if you didn't make any financial transactions. But new passwords could be needed.

Hello everyone,

I am experiencing the red typo lines when there are no typos. This happens on occasion when I'm typing emails and posting or responding to forums. It seems to occur when there is an actually typo and I correct the error. After that the entire post/email from that point on will have the red typo lines.

For example it is happening now... I'll try to post a pic for a better understanding.

Has anyone experience this as well and most importantly does anyone know of a solutions to this?

My unit is new and I have yet to DL Office 365 so I don't have Word. Not sure if that will matter.

Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks

So I was browsing around in Windows Defender (Windows Settings > Update & Security > Windows Defender > Open Windows Defender Security Center > Virus & threat protection > Virus & threat protection settings, then scroll down to Controlled folder access.)

The sentence "Protect your files and folders from unauthorized changed by unfriendly applications" has a typo in it.
(Refer to the attached picture)

Either:
? The word "changed" has a typo in it and should be the word "changes" (with an 's' instead of a 'd'), or
? There is at least one missing word in between the words "unauthorized" & "changed"
Somebody should inform Microsoft about this typo.

But Also: I noticed that this is a new option, since the last time I was browsing around in there. What does this option exactly do? It was originally off, but I turned it On. Yet I must say that I have seen a few messages pop up in the right corner of the screen, stating that Windows Defender blocked some programs from making changes. One of them showed explorer.exe from modifying the Favorites folder without me doing anything with Favorites. Exactly what does this option do? Is it kind of like some sort of strict "Firewall"? Because if so, then I like that.

Answer:HAH, I Found A Typo In Windows!

Blocks access to your files and documents by unknown apps (malware/ransomware). It's off by default because not all 'good' apps are in it's 'trusted' list. It takes a bit of fiddling to get all your apps to work after you turn it on.

for your information:

Spyware authors and phishing fraudsters yanked an old scam out of the playbook Wednesday by directing malicious code at Internet users who may be prone to typing or spelling deficiencies, according to security researchers.

Finnish security firm F-Secure said they discovered an attack aimed at Web surfers attempting to land on Google's (Quote, Chart) homepage, but who may have mistyped the Web address.

Internet users who punch in "Googkle.com" are treated to a host malicious code, as the computer gets slammed with a heap of the unwanted software that is automatically downloaded and installed. The malware includes: Trojan droppers, Trojan downloaders, backdoors, a proxy Trojan and a spying Trojan. A few adware-related files are also installed, the firm said.

Memory corruption caused by an unknown driver. Please run memtest and driver verifier.

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program.

Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Hi,

I am having a problem when i misspell URLs.

When i type things like google.con instead of .com, i am redirected to a host of different search sites, including searchathand.com, and daplaces.com. I am pretty sure i must be infected with something, but i have ran several online and offline spyware and malware scanners and nothing seems to find a problem.

I am running Firefox version 1.5.0.6, but the problem also occurs in IE as well.

Advise please!

Cheers

Edit: I seem to have found what i think is the culprit for this...but this leads to another problem.

NAME: Googkle
ALIAS: Googkle.com

Summary

F-Secure staff has found a malicious website that utilizes a spelling error when typing the name of the popular search engine - 'Google.com'. If a user opens a malicious website, his/her computer gets hijacked - a lot of different malware gets automatically downloaded and installed: trojan droppers, trojan downloaders, backdoors, a proxy trojan and a spying trojan. Also a few adware-related files are installed.

The name of the malicious website is 'Googkle.com'. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THIS WEBSITE! Otherwise your computer will get infected! We have reported the case to the authorities.

Detailed Description

Our investigation revealed that the whole infection starts from the 'googkle.com' website. This website, as well as a few related websites are owned by people with Russian names. Also several malicious files that are downloaded from these websites have Russian texts.

When the 'googkle.com' is opened in a browser, it shows 2 popup windows that are linked to the following websites:

The 'ntsearch.com' website downloads and runs the 'pop.chm' file and the 'toolbarpartner.com' website downloads and runs the 'ddfs.chm' file. Is there a way to tell Microsoft Word to "guess" what I mean every time I make a typo? For example, I type "tsanding," and instead of changing it to "standing," it underlines it red. I know I can then right-click it, and select AutoCorrect > standing, so that, from now on, if the same exact typo arises in the future, in which I accidentally type "tsanding," it'll change it to "standing." I've thus far collected *hundreds* of specific typo corrections in this way. But that's very time-consuming, and is only a weak attempt at preventing typos I may be likely to make in the future (based on the fact that I made the exact typo at least once before). Is there any way to establish that I want Microsoft Word to go ahead and correct every single "underlined red" occurrence from now on, based on its best guess as to what I meant? (except in cases where the typo was so bad that it has no guess at all) That way, when it corrects something I *didn't* want corrected, I can then go back and add what I wanted to its dictionary, to tell it not to consider that word an accident from then on.

Answer:Is there a way to tell Microsoft Word to "guess" what I mean every time I make a typo?

Found this in the Word Help files. On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options. In the Replace box, type a word or phrase that you often mistype or misspell ? for example, type usualy. In the With box, type the correct spelling of the word ? for example, type usually. Click Add. Is this what you're talking about?

Answer:My Windows 7 copy looks counterfeit. Typo on back cover. Came from China (eBay). Pics

It's fake, that's pretty obvious. The hologram thing is most likely a sticker on top of the actual disc surface - you can use a fingernail or razor blade at the very edge and lift it up a bit, that's 100% proof. The part numbers don't seem to match up with the actual Windows 7 Ultimate part number, and it just has a fake quality all the way around.

If you contact Microsoft, show them the pics, explain where you bought it from and your situation, there is a small - small but it exists - chance they'll provide you with a key just for making the report and identifying the seller you got it from.

No guarantees, but at the moment you're better off reporting it to them and going from there. Sure can't hurt to let them know, either way.

I'd report it, personally, without even really thinking about it. It just SCREAMS fake.

I am using Windows 2003 with Access 2003. I have a main form that uses fields from a table that I would call the Master table, and this form has several tab pages in it. In this form the 2nd tabbed page uses a subform which displays data from a different table (I call it the Job Number table). I have linked these two tables with a one to many relationship. One of the fields in the Job Number table is named "Contract Amount". So each job record in the Job Number table tracks a separate Contract Amount value, but it is linked to the Master table through the one to many relationship. My goal is to sum all of the the Contract Amount values for each linked Master record and display that amount on my 1st tab.

I have created a subform that uses a sumquery which sums the Contract Amounts from the Job Number table. I tested the subform and the sum feature against the live data, and it does perform correctly. I then added that subform into my main form on the first tabbed page along with other fields on the same tab page. These other fields come from the Master table. In the Data Entry view, I can see a box where the subform should display, but the data doesn't display. What can I do to force the subform to display data along side the other fields from the Master Table?

Thanks in advance for your help.

While Thinkpads have a handy program in Windows to remap the keys, there is no such program available for Linux that I know of. My problem is that my T410 has the Page Forward and Page Back keys right next to the Page Up key. I am constantly pressing these keys by mistake when I want to press the Page Up key. If I am typing an email message in a web browser, I suddenly loose all my text when the web browser goes one page back or forward.  The solution is to remap these keys to be normal Page Down and Page Up keys. I spent all afternoon searching for a solution, so I thought I would share to save others the same pain. Edit your .bashrc file (/home/youruser/.bashrc) and add these two lines:  xmodmap -e 'keycode 167=Next'  xmodmap -e 'keycode 166=Prior'The next time you start a new session, the keys should be remapped.

Question: Main.exe

Upon startup, first error message says somthing about the win.ini file missing the main.exe Second message immediately after first says thatmain.exe not found. I recently had some nasty bugs that I finally got rid of on this machine. I may have inadvertently deleted something I shouldn't of have. I've seen other IE postings that says Main.exe is a trojan. I definitley don't want to write something to the win.ini file that will start the problems all over again. Here is the first few lines of the WIN.INI file located at C:\windows\system\win.ini[windows]load=NullPort=Nonedevice=HP DeskJet 694C,HPDSKJTB,LPT1:RUN=c:\windows\system\main32.exeAny idea what could be causing the start up errors. So far the system is back to running normally except for that.DB//Mod edit: Moved from Windows 95/98*Grinler forum to the more appropriate.

Question: RC1 as main OS

I have a HP DV2550se laptop....
Wanted to install RC1.. but didnt wanna go thru the process of making a partition, and dual boo, etc...
How bad would it be as a main OS?
I mainly use Photoshop CS3 and Cinema 4D as programs outside the usual internet programs, and msn messenger and winamp.

Answer:RC1 as main OS

How bad would it be? I recommend it highly. It runs flawless here for everything. The only reason I triple boot with Vista and XP is because I want to. I really have no need for either any longer.

Hi

New member here.

I wanted to know how many of you use the CP as your main OS.

I want to use it as my main OS, but don't have the guts to do it I keep thinking I might run into a deal-breaker problem sooner or later. Do all of your programs work fine?

I mainly use my computer for internet (chrome), itunes, Lightroom & Photoshop, Office 2010.

Thanks

Answer:How many use W8 CP as their main OS?

I will keep it only in VM to learn it because one day I will have a PC to repair with Windows 8 as OS, personally I don't find it worth to replace my Windows 7 in all my PCs.

Question: main.txt

Please help!

Everytime I boot up up my PC, I get a window - asking me to whether run this program "mallty~1.exe" ....publisher not verified....and I always say "cancel" and then proceeds.

Is there anyway I can find out where is this stored and delete this permanently - remember I have'nt installed it so far - but the application has somehow found it's way into my PC.

Thanks

Francis

Answer:main.txt

Sounds like there's a startup associated with MallTycoonSetup.exe

Please do this:

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.Close all applications and windows.
Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt <-this one will be minimized
Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt in your thread in the HijackThis Log Help Forum.
Please attach extra.txt to your post.
To attach a file to a new post, simplyClick the[Manage Attachments] button under Additional Options > Attach Files on the post composition page, and
copy and paste the following into the "Upload File from your Computer" box:C:\Deckard\System Scanner\extra.txt

Click Upload.

What DSS will do: create a new System Restore point in Windows XP and Vista.
clean your Temporary Files, Downloaded Program Files, and Internet Cache Files, and also empty the Recycle Bin on all drives.
check some important areas of your system and produce a report for your analyst to review. DSS automatically runs HijackThis for you, but it will also install and place a shortcut to HijackThis on your desktop if you do not already have HijackThis installed.

I would advise creating a backup of your current system and all data before going ahead. It just might save you a big headache if things don't go like you planned.

Hi all, I have signed up with sky bb, they took agees but finally sent the equipment and installation date. However, although I have set up the router the main pc cant connect to the internet. Thing is though is that my other computers can. I have tried different combinations of IP address to no avail on my internal LAN. I have also tried to install a belkin usb wireless with the same problem. They both say that they are connected but are only recieving data not sending it. I tried the Sky BB tech support, nice to know they follow bt in outsourcing their help to India. The person I spoke to was very faint, told me things I had already done. The only thing that did some good was when I was given the ip address to configure the router, 192.168.0.1. However I was also told to reset the router which then would not let me log in again to try to re-configure. So..if anyone has got any other ideas please let me know. I am running Win xp on all PCs with zone alarm, avg and stagonos as anti-virus and firewall. TIA-belcanto

Answer:No Sky BB on main PC

to set up the connection first turn off the firewall and any anti virus software running. now try and set t up. Once done re-enable the firewall and AV...

Question: 7 RC as main OS?

Hey guys,

Do you think using the RC of 7 is a good idea to use as my main OS? I have a genuine Vista and I could reinstall it any time I liked if I had to, but I dont wanna use it as my main OS only to find out in a few weeks that its gone to crap and I have to reinstall Vista. It would be easy enough to do but its not something I wanna do as I wont be making any backups.

Im using Vista 32 and 7 64 at the minute but im quickly running out of space and I cant find anymore stuff to delete so what do you think?

Thanks.

Answer:7 RC as main OS?

Windows RC Build 7100 is set to expire March 1st, 2010.

You've got a bit of time before that and by then you'll likely have purchased a copy of Windows 7 (retail). So I say stay with RC for now. I have been using Windows 7 since the first Beta was made public.

well, i've been looking around in a res. hacker, and if you open the chrome.dll, and goto BINDATA, then 209, there is the javascript for the default page (minus the top bar, i haven't gotten that far yet)

some basic editing of the css allows background changes and such like that.

however. im having a tough time doing it. the .dll corrupts very often, about ever 10th time i change something and recompile it.

any ideas?

Okay so when I play World of Warcraft for 5minutes-6hours the game randomly shuts down.
I found out my problem was that my Video Card isnt up to date so I updated.
I updated and im still getting the same issue.

I looked at my EPU-4 Engine and when i click on VGA it says VGA not detected.
Can someone please tell me what the possible problem can be and how I can fix this?

My graphics card is a ATI Radeon HD 4600 1024mb.

I cant attach mini-dumps because for some odd reason it I apparently dont have permission so if anyone know how to bypass through this please let me know.

System specs
Motherboard)ASUS M4A785-M
(Processor)AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.22GHz
(RAM)2GBDDR3
(VGA) ATI RADEON HD 4600 1024mb

Oh and by the way it sometimes goes blackscreen with these lines coming down while the game plays in the background and I have to manually turn off my computer.
Sometimes it gives me BSODs with PAGE FAULT NON PAGE AREA or IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL.

Answer:[SOLVED] BSOD Driver IQRL not less or Equal Page Fault Non Page Area

Smells like video card puttering out.

Are you referring to a permission denial by attempting to attach the dumps directly? You'll need to zip them first before sending them over, as only certain file types are permitted. Plus there's a 5 MB limit (doubt that's the cause though).
