lenovo Yoga 900 - touchpad/trackpad lag when scrolling and left index finger touches button

Question: lenovo Yoga 900 - touchpad/trackpad lag when scrolling and left index finger touches button

When scrolling with the index finger on my right hand I will regularly hover over and lightly touch the left button with my left index finger in anticipation of the link/button/text box etc that I am about to click on. I have always done this an never encoutered any issues on the numerous laptops I have owned and used in the past). When I do this on my newly axquired Lenovo Yoga 900 it causes the mouse pointer to lag momentarily. I have updated drivers (v19.0.17.57), I have turned off ALL Multi-Finger options (2-finger, 3-finger and 4-finger) and reduced Palm Tracking to the minimum. Is this behavior isolated to me, or are other experiencing the same behavior? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Preferred Solution: lenovo Yoga 900 - touchpad/trackpad lag when scrolling and left index finger touches button

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 (base non-pro) 11 W8.1 with all the latest updates from microsoft.   The trackpad has never worked successfully with 2-finger scrolling.   There was a lot of buzz in 2014 on the trackpad issue on this formum and elsewhere; I haven't seen much posted in the past 6 months so I don't know if a) the issue has been fixed or b) people have given up.  Notably I've seen recomendations to download use the trackpad manufacturer's drivers, but others have commented that this disables the tablet features.  Apparently the proper driver would have to emerge from Lenovo. Has there been a resolution to 2-finger scrolling on Lenovo Yoga 2 11 that retains the tablet and other convertible features? thank you,-rei

does anyone know if there's a way to make the touchpad left/right click hard buttons easier to click? my fingers hurt after using the touchpad for an hour

Answer:Lenovo Yoga Touchpad Left/Right Click Hardware Button Sensitivity

I would suspect that the hard buttons of the touchpad cannot be changed as a mechanical attribute of the hardware. However, I might suggest that the hard buttons of the touchpad may not have to be used very often given the existence of touch alternatives. For example, I'm sure you use the left-click tap gesture often, but also a right-click gesture of simply tapping two fingers anywhere at once may be used instead of having to press the hard button from the bottom-left corner. Additionally, dragging may be accomplished with a double-tap and hold gesture on the touchpad. For instance, to move a window on the desktop, simply double-tap the window title bar but keep a finger down after the second tap. From there objects may be moved/dragged as if a physical button was held. So perhaps with the touch-only drag and right-click gestures you may rely less on use of the hard buttons, and save some strain on your fingers..?

I have a ThinkPad Yoga S1 with a clean and up-to-date installation of Windows 10 Pro. Synaptics driver version 19.0.17.27 is installed.Two-finger touchpad scrolling rarely works in several UWP/Metro apps such as Calendar and Groove Music. When I attempt to scroll, a little crosshair appears on the screen and moves up and down instead of moving the page. Every once in a while it actually does scroll, but only at random and immediatey stops working again.Strangely enough, if the UWP window is in the background behind another window and isn't currently in focus, two-finger scrolling works fine. Non-UWP/Metro applications do not seem to be affected by this problem.Any help would be greatly appreciated.-gyokuroEDIT: I found a temporary workaround right after I posted this that doesn't fix the issue, but at least makes it less of an annoyance until this is fixed. If you click on the taskbar and then try to scroll in a UWP app, it works fine, and the tiny crosshair doesn't appear either.

Hi everyone, Just received my brand new Yoga X1 2nd gen and everything's fine. The only thing that drives me crazy is the scrolling direction when using the two finger scrolling on the touch pad. I want to reverse it as I'm used to it on all other computers I've ever used before. How do I do this? There're some articles, also in this forum, pointing to advanced settings of the Synaptics tab included in the mouse settings. But there is almost nothing to change, especially nothing relating to changing the direction. There must be a registry setting. Please help, so I can enjoy my new Yoga X1 :-) Cheers Georg

Alright. So since I've bought this computer I've had problems with the two-finger scrolling suddenly stopping, like many people have. That's always been fixable by going into properties, device settings, settings, unchecking/rechecking one of the boxes under "two finger scrolling" and hitting OK. Now, though, my touchpad is suddenly stuck on one finger scrolling, and it's super annoying. There is no "one finger scrolling" option under the "scrolling" drop down thingy under device settings, so I haven't a clue why this is happening. I've tried the usual fix above, restarting the computer, installing new drivers, but it still does one finger scrolling. Which means it scrolls a lot of the time when I don't want it to, and the pointer seems to get "stuck" at times when I'm just trying to move it around. This is extremely frustrating - any help would be great!

I've only had my refurbished Yoga 13 for a few weeks and I'm starting to notice that the left trackpad button is sticking.  It happens when I click on the left most part of the left button.  I would have to flex the laptop or click on the right button to make it bounce back up.  I would assume this would be a common complaint since it looks to be a fault with the design. The trackpad is positioned to much to the left or its just too big to accomodate in that trackpad "slot".  Tech support was not much help besides telling me to send it back.

Answer:Yoga 13 left trackpad button sticking in downward position

I have the same problem. It doesn't happen on a flat surface, but when it is on my lap, ect. it can cause the left button to stick. This doesn't happen all the time, but it is an annoyance.

I got my Lenovo Yoga 710 in the summer of 2016, and everything works great except for the inactive scrolling. The inactive scrolling only works when I have an external mouse attached to my laptop, in which I am able to type in one window while scrolling in another window that's inactive. However, the inactive scrolling doesn't seem to work when I am using my trackpad and not an external mouse. I have updated all of my drivers, but I just don't understand why the feature would work only with the external mouse and not the trackpad. It is rather inconvenient to carry around an external mouse when the trackpad is supposed to do the job. I am coming from a Macbook Pro and I really miss the inactive scrolling that it provided.  I would really appreciate it if someone could please help me. Thanks! P.S. I do not have any third party software installed and the inactive scrolling feature is "enabled."

I've had to turn off the single finger/ single click feature in Touchpad Settings because it is nearly impossible to use 2-finger scrolling in browsers (Firefox and Chrome) without inadvertently activating a left click on a link. Of course I've set Touchpad sensitivity to the lowest setting but I can't  actually detect much if any difference between the highest and lowest sensitivity settings. Unwanted left clicks are just insanely too easy to make and none of the several official Lenovo Touchpad driver updates I've installed in the months since I bought this laptop have helped this issue. I know what a good Lenovo touchpad feels like - my Yoga 2 Pro touchpad was excellent. But that was before I believe most touchpad control settings became part of Windows 10 rather than left up to individual manufacturers? Now I'm back to the primitive method of pressing hard for a left click(s). It can actually be tiring to constantly to that and brings back unpleasant memories on using a 14 year old Dell laptop. Is this a recognized problem or is my X1 Yoga special?

Hello Soren522Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.Try to download the Touchpad and Chipset drivers for the unit from the support page.

Make sure to reboot after an update on the unit.If this has happened after a change or update, I would recommend you try to revert back to an older version of Windows, and observe if the fault is still happening or not.

So I have had a very... VERY... irritating problem with my Thinkpad. For the first 6 or so months I had the laptop it worked fine. Then, the left click on the touchpad was functioning like the right click (bringing up a menu).  I immediately disabled the touchpad and then used the trackpad right and left clicks which worked perfectly. After another 4 or 5 months, those buttons stopped working altogether. I could still use the touchpad to move the arrow, but I couldn't click on anything. I bought an external USB mouse and that worked fine for another 2 months. Then for a few weeks, it would work on and off. I'd have to wiggle it around in the USB ports to get the laptop to recognize it. (it had nothing to do with the ports... there were 3 of them and they all worked fine). Then it stopped working completely, AND, my laptop refuses to acknowledge ANY USB I plug in.  I have run out of options now. I can't even install anything, download any files from lenovo website. I can't do anything. Does anyone know if it is still salvageable? Has anyone had the same problem? The lenovo digitizer for tablets.... would that work for this thinkpad? (sorry... not as tech savvy as the rest of you) Thanks a bunch,Amanda

Hi guys, I am trying to maintain my doughter's school aptop but encountered something exceding my limited expertise. Since about 10 days the touchpad, buttons and the red thingie stopped working. I have read all the forum issues, uninstalled the drivers and re-installed new ones (first through the lenovo sulotion centre, then the synaptics generic version). About 6 times now. That didn't work. It says "component not present, not working correctly or divers not fully installed, error 24" (translation from Dutch, probably used some incorrect terms).Running windows 10 on this t420. All worked fine untill this happened. I saw that some new mouse drivers have been installed around the day of malfunction but can't find how or where to remove those (still getting used to this windows 10).Any suggestions?

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad T420 trackpad and touchpad right/left click stopped working

So far, there's just 2 of us with trackpoint / touchpad problems as a result of installing Windows 10.  My post:  https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T400-T500-and-newer-T/T420-Win-10-Pro-Ultra-Nav-19-00-12-61-Tr... I've combed through this forum and have no one else reporting these same issues; most are reporting that left and right click buttons are working, but the middle button did not work.  In my case, it was the opposite; the middle button scrolled (albeit very choppy), and the left / right buttons were dead.for my Trackpoint.  It's not a hardware issue, as all buttons function as normal in Win 7, but upon installation of Win 10, the buttons do not work.  I went so far as to do a clean install of Win 10 to ensure there were no conflicts between Win 10 and any leftover Win 7 system files, only to end up with the same old left and right button problems. So until the Ultra Nav drivers to enable full functionality of trackpoint / touchpad device, the only solution is to use a physical mouse or revert back to your prior operating system.

Just bought  a Carbon X1 with windows 10. Everything works except for scrolling with one finger on trackpad as I always did on my E450. Called support and he installed new drivers but still no scrolling. Trackpad works for cursor movement and clicking. Called support back and fix is to return laptop for motherboard replacement. Seems extreme and last ime I sent in E450 for disk drive and motherboard replacement laptop became erratic. Rather not have even a trained technician opening up a brand new $1500 laptop. I have two questions:1) Should single finger scrolling work on my Carbon X12) Is there a setting for scrolling. I recall on my E450 running windows 10 that I was able to specify where I wanted scrolling to be active on the trackpad (Left edge, right edge and even width of active path.

This is very annoying, and I would like to know how to change this behaviour.

Hi All, I just picked up a Lenovo Yoga 11s and it's my first experience with windows 8 and the multitouch scrolling is driving me mad.  Is there any way to enable the multi touch gestures that begin in the zones of the left and right buttons (bottom ž of the touchpad)?  This problem is evident when you try to two finger scroll from the bottom of the touch pad to the top?since the gesture ?begins? in the mouse button zone, it doesn?t register and simply moves the cursor up.  So inorder to scroll up, you have to begin the gesture in the middle of the trackpad.  However, two finger scroll from the very top works as expected. I can?t find any driver settings to change this behaviour. Is this a common problem for Synaptics Windows 8 clickpads?  Are there any work arounds?  I?m not a mac user, but it seems to make common sense to expect to be able to use the entire area of the touchpad for gestuers.  Really, it?s so amazingly unintuitive that I suspect it must be related to a patent issue--there?s no way someone would intentionally program the drivers in this manner!   Thanks,

Aside from the below trackpad issues, coil whine and fan that likes to spin up even when doing basic tasks, I quite like the new Spectre x360. Issue 1: When using the entire trackpad as a click, the cursor will sometimes move just before I actually click down, which is something I never experienced on my MacBook Air's trackpad. This results in either missing what I originally wanted to click, or clicking on something entirely different. Issue 2: Two-finger scrolling doesn't work in the bottom 20% of the trackpad. I can use two fingers in that area, but scrolling won't actually start until I get towards the middle of the trackpad. So, until I hit that area, it'll just be single-finger pointing. Given the trackpad's wider than it is tall, this can become a problem. I tried messing around with the dated-looking Synaptics settings program, but couldn't get anything to help. Maybe it'll get better with time on its own? Otherwise, hopefully software updates will fix it...

My brand-new P50 laptop was behaving as though the left trackpad button was sticking. When single-tapping the left trackpad button, it would behave as though the "click n' drag" setting was enabled: the trackpad would override the keyboard, preventing me from typing until either the trackpad was moved again or the button was clicked again.  I work for Microsoft and have always used Lenovo products without ever having encountered an issue before, so I was more than a little surprised. I called Lenovo support, and they were less than helpful. In the end, they suggested that the trackpad itself was defective. The laptop was orvernighted to the repair depot in the southeast. Naturally, there was a three-week wait for parts - despite this being a model currently in production. Finally, after causing a stink (this is, after all, my primary work machine), a helpful support tech located parts at another facility. Another week later, and my laptop was back - with the SAME problem continuing to surface. This time I dug deeper, looking into the various trackpad settings, tweaking the various "accidental interrupt" delay settings, verifying that the "click to drag" feature was disabled, and running various diagnostics on the trackpad itself. The one interesting thing I noted was that the button-stickiness only seemed to happen in applications (IE, Word, etc.) - the button "stickiness" didn't happen when scrolling through Windows... Under the scrolling, you can find two option as one finger scrolling and two finger scrolling, select the two finger scrolling.

Disable the two finger scroll option by unticking on the enable option, click on apply and ok button and check for the issue.

Hope this helps. Do post back if issue persists!

There seems to be an issue with the trackpad and 2-finger scrolling. 90% of the time 2-finger scrolling works flawlessly, but I'd say about 1/10 times I try to scroll using 2 fingers on the trackpad, the cursor just moves up the page as if I was only using a single finger.  Has anyone else had this issue? I tried reinstalling the trackpad driver, but nothing changed. Hello,

I recently bought a Lenovo Y700 running W10. I am trying to get it set up the way I like and cannot find an option to use one-finger scrolling with my touchpad (two-finger scrolling is an option and works just fine).

I am updated to driver 19.0.19.1, but for some reason when I go to Mouse Properties it lists the driver version as 19.0.17.26. I'm not sure if this is related. Here are some screen caps of the driver discrepancy as well as the UI for the mouse, which has no option for one-finger scrolling. How do I enable this?

Thanks for any advice you can give me!

Answer:Synaptics touchpad V1.2 - no option for one-finger scrolling?

I'm thinking that's on purpose. If you did that, how would you then move the cursor on screen? Single finger is cursor movement, two finger is scroll. It's a touch pad not a touch screen.

Is there a way I can submit a ticket directly to Acer without going through chat or phone #?Reason I am avoiding customer support: Chat representative wanted me to disable driver verificication with full assurance that this will fix my issue. Disabling driver verification is only useful when the device is not working at all. I like to scroll in the direction the text is hidden. For example, if I want to scroll DOWN, I swipe DOWN on the touchpad. This works fine in webpages, open windows, documents, etc. However, in the Start Menu or any other Settings menu in Windows 10, the scrolling is reversed. If I swipe DOWN, the screen goes in the opposite way of what I expect. This is only happening in the Windows Menu and Setting Menus.  I had synaptics driver have the inverted scrolling off.  How do I make it so that the scrolling direction is uniform EVERYWHERE?

I am updated to driver 19.0.19.1, but for some reason when I go to Mouse Properties it lists the driver version as 19.0.17.26. I'm not sure if this is related. Here are some screen caps of the driver discrepancy as well as the UI for the mouse, which has no option for one-finger scrolling. How do I enable this?

Thanks for any advice you can give me!

OS: Windows 10 Build 1511BIOS: 1.15Synaptics Driver: 19.0.7.33I restart the sytem. At this point, the touchpad is working without issue. I then close the lid on the laptop to initiate S3(sleep). I notice on of the LEDs on the right side starts blinking. I open the lid and press the power button to resume from S3(sleep). 2 out of 4 times two-finger scrolling stops working at this point. Is there a new driver that fixes this issue? Is there a way I can submit a ticket directly to Acer without going through chat or phone #?Reason I am avoiding customer support: Chat representative wanted me to disable driver verificication with full assurance that this will fix my issue. Disabling driver verification is only useful when the device is not working at all. I tried it and it failed to fix the issue. The other reason I am avoiding customer support is that the end result is very likely an RMA, which will not fix the issue.

I've had this laptop for about a month and didnt have an issue until yesterday when my two finger scroll stopped working. I tried adjusting the screen resolution as some responses suggested to no avail. I have checked my setting and two finger scrolling is definitely turned on but started having no effect at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So i just recivece my new u430, and overall i'm pretty happy. I have a few issues with the touchpad though. There's no way of deactivating the fact that it keeps scrolling when my fingers reach the bottom or top of the touchpad. This is annoying, as i can't see when it will start scrolling automatically, it just suddenly starts. Another thing is that when i start scrolling with two fingers, and then lift a finger to navigate the mouse instead, it keeps scrolling until i lift both fingers off the trackpad, and then i can start to navigate. This feels very unneccessary, and it didn't do this on my old Asus computer.  Is there a general workaround for the sloppy driver, or do i have to live with these "features"? Best regards,Andreas

Is there any way to invert the two-finger scrolling on the touchpad?  The default behaviour is for a gesture downwards to scroll the screen up, and a gesture upwards to scroll the screen down - probably taken from OSX and easily the worst and most frustrating "feature" of my new laptop at work.  There is no option to reverse this in the touchpad settings.

Thank you a thousand times over! The reverse scrolling was driving me nuts.

Recently I created a new user account (not under Family Group) after the Windows 10 update. In this new account, the touchpad no longer gets to the top or bottom of webpage with two finger flick, unlike my old account. The scrolling distance is small and only gets me up a quarter or half a page. The only way I can circumvent this is to have maximum inertia - even with this setting, it usually gets me across 80% of a long webpage but not to the top/bottom of the page.I have the same issue in Microsoft Word (haven't tried other programs besides PDF - which has a pathetic scrolling distance in both accounts). Also in this new user account, the three-finger flick serves a similar function as alt + tab, whereas in the older account, the three-finger flick works as a backward/forward function in Google Chrome, which I much prefer. I have searched mouse properties and compared the settings with my older user account (created before Windows 10) and the settings are identical!! I can't seem to find what the issue is. Any help appreciated!!

Two-finger scrolling has suddenly stopped working on my Yoga 710. A reboot hasn't worked. Two-finger zoom still works, but when I try to scroll it malfunctions. Pulling two fingers down on the touchpad minimises the window. Pushing two fingers up takes me to miniature view of all my open windows. Very occasionally it will scroll slightly in one direction but not the other, but I can't get it to happen often enough to work out why it works occasionally. What is going wrong? EDIT: It now seems that the zoom is a bit finicky too. It works much of the time when I try to enlarge or shrink Facebook in my browser, but not all the time.

I got this laptop in August, and I didn't have any problems with the laptop. However about a month ago, the 2 finger scrolling on the trackpad has stopped working. I've made sure that 2 finger scrolling is selected in the mouse settings, but no matter what I do, 2 finger scrolling doesn't work. I've updated my mouse drivers and everything to the latest versions as well, but that didn't fix the problem either. Any clues as to why this might be happening?  Thanks, Mitch

Hi there, I've had my X1 Yoga for a while now, and two-finger scrolling in all apps seem to be great. But for some reason, two finger scrolling in the Windows 10 start menu is NOT great. It's super glitchy and seems to stop abruptly. Normally if you swipe down and lift your fingers, there's still some inertia that will continue the scrolling a bit - but the start menu seems to stop instead of continuing with inertia among other issues. Long story short - two-finger scrolling in the Windows 10 start menu sucks on my X1 yoga. Is anyone else with an X1 Yoga having this issue? Is there any way to fix this? I can post a video to show what i'm talking about if needed. Thanks!

The driver for the yoga 3 pro on Windows 10 needs some work.  You can no longer use double fingers to scroll on the start menu or in many of the modern apps.   Is there any work around to this?  When unstalling the driver, the trackpad isn't disbled in tabalet mode, which is more annoying than the scroll issue.

I'd be very grateful if someone could suggest a solution to the problem I have with the touchpad on my laptop, the one finger scrolling is not working, I have checked as far as I can using the info provided, as far as I know the driver is up to date, I've looked for 'Dell touchpad' or 'Device settings tab' in control panel and they aren't there, just mouse ( ps/2) properties and these are shown as ok, any ideas please? many thanks,Steven. ps, guruaid tell me it's a hardware problem but I'm not so sure, it used to work fine before Windows 10 was loaded and messed up a whole lot of functions, I was then told it's not compatible with this laptop, so I had to put Windows 7 back on and the problem stemmed from around that time

Answer:n5010 laptop touchpad not working correctly - no 'one finger' scrolling function

Hi PUFFIN88,
Have you performed a clean install of Windows 7 or have just rolled back the OS from Win10 to Win7? Is the touchpad detected in device manager? Is there any damage on the system? Do the touchpad button register a click?
Update the BIOS - http://dell.to/28WKQHB- restart the system and check if it works fine.  Reinstall the touchpad drivers from the same site and check.
If the touchpad is not detected in device manager- then download the service manual from the support site link above - and reseat the palmrest cables and check if it works.
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us.
Write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

Hello, as the title states, I am having issues with my two finger scrolling with my touchpad. My computer is a new alienware 15, and I am currently running windows 8.1. I do have two finger scrolling enabled, and it works, it just acts weirdly and I would like help understanding what is going on.
This first and primary issue, is that while scrolling up or down a page, I will randomly jump way down the page or way up the page. I am not able to reproduce this issue consistently, so I haven't been able to properly measure it, it just occurs randomly while browsing. I believe it always jumps down while scrolling down and vise versa, but I'm not sure. And I believe the distance of the jump is about equal to page up or page down, but that might just be wishful thinking. I have no idea what is causing this, I have completely disabled tapping, so it shouldn't be zone tapping for page up and page down, but I don't know what else it could be.
The next thing isn't really an issue, but more something I'd like to understand the significance of. When I start the two finger scrolling gesture, a little box appears (seemingly in a random location) and shrinks away almost instantly. It seems to have nothing to do with where my mouse is, nor where my fingers are on the trackpad, so I really don't understand what it's communicating to me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Issues with two finger scrolling on the alienware 15 synaptic touchpad running windows 8.1

I had the exact same problem, very annoying, I have Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro, but the touchpad is Synaptics as well. So after a lot of searching on this issue, there was one possible solution: Remove the manufacturer driver, and install drivers from synaptics website. www.synaptics.com/.../drivers.php
If you cannot install the driver from synaptics website, (mine failed the first try), then you have to follow these steps:
1. After uninstalling the manufacturer synaptics driver, go to the lower right side of the screen, and click settings -- > power --> hold Shift key and press Restart.
2. A blue screen will appear with options. Choose Troubleshoot --> Advanced Options --> Startup Settings --> Click Restart.
3. After that, your computer restarts, shows u a numbered menu, choose number 7, which will turn off driver signatures.
4. When you are back in windows, download and install the driver from the synaptics website and install.

Hope it works, it worked for me.

It just kind of freaks out on me, in Chrome instead of scrolling, the pointer disappears and it just zooms in and out, almost as if its being recognized as touchscreen input. It did this on Win 8.1 as well when the screen resolution was set at 1080p instead of 1800p. However when it was at full res i had no problem. Anyone else come across this issue?

Answer:Two finger scrolling not working on Yoga 2 Pro after windows 10 upgrade.

I am having similar problems, although I don't have the zoom issue- it is simply not scrolling.   very frustrating when you are accustomed to this method.   My resolution was also reset, but I don't find that as much of an issue- the scrolling I can't fix.

Just got this machine (Yoga 13 i5) 3 days ago, and while I'm satisfied for the most part I noticed that scrolling in web pages using either Firefox or IE is pretty slow. Actually it seems like webpage rendering overall is a little weak. I'm coming from a Acer Timeline X 3830T which has pretty much the same specs as the Yoga 13 and there's no comparison. The acer always rendered instantly and never felt slow loading. The odd thing is that if I use my fingers in IE the scrolling is just as smooth as on my iPhone. In Firefox it's the same laggyness. It doesn't feel like a problem with the trackpad itself, rather It feels as if the GPU simply can't keep up, which I'd have trouble believeing. Am I the only one noticing this? Also what's with the CPU overhead? In task manager I'm seeing 15-20% cpu utilization at idle with a good chunk of it being taken up by WMI Provider Host.

Not life threatening, but can get frustrating. I've tried all over the lenovo site to register this issue, but I keep ending up on US sites, that won't accept my address, etc.  Who are the right people to email? Hello - I haven't had this computer a week yet and I'm having issues with what I seen posts on for Ghost Touches.  If I leave the laptop idle for a while I can turn around or walk past it to see the screen going crazy.  Like someone is using the touch screen.  If IE is maximized, it is flipping through my favorite bar items, if it is minimized I see the white touch marks on the screen.  I do not know how to fix this.  I have seen other posts for updating but the Monitor is Generic PnP Monitor for the value and not LG.  Has anyone seen this before and can they help me?  I do not want to pay $99 for support.  Thanks!

Have a problem with what might be ghost touches on the touch screen. When playing fullscreen movies it sometimes randomly pauses and/or resumes as if someone touched the screen (or pressed space). Not always, just sometimes. I have found no pattern. Not tied to a specific application as far as I can tell. Also, once earlier today, the display went bananas with crazy ghost touches everywhere all over the screen when i switched to tablet mode. The keyboard had stopped working as well, and I was forced to reboot for it to stop clicking everywhere. Video of how it was like:  https://youtu.be/kkgf48ymeJs I look around and see lots of people having similar problems, but no answers as to what the hell is going on with the yoga touch displays. Anyone know? Model (i think): 80QD0042MX Monitor hardware id: MONITOR\LGD047ATouchscreen hardware ids: HID\VID_04F3&PID_206F&REV_1112&Col01HID\VID_04F3&PID_206F&Col01HID\VID_04F3&UP:000D_U:0004HID_DEVICE_UP:000D_U:0004HID_DEVICE All drivers appear to be up to date. Edit:  Since this was an LG panel, I have now attempted to run the firmware update from https://support.lenovo.com/no/nn/documents/SF15-I0024Perhaps it will make a difference. Will have to wait a bit to find out as I'm not able to trigger the ghost touches at will.

It has been confirmed the solution you referenced for ghost touches on the Yoga 3 14 will also resolve ghost touches experienced on Yoga 700 14 laptops. Lenovo is in the process of publishing the LCD firmware update specifically for Yoga 700 14.

Is anyone else expeiencing problems with their touchpad?I am finding the dual finger scrolling functionality on the touchpad problematic.it seems to work only intermittently, basically gets stuck or doesn't work at all sometimes.sometimes when it doesnt work, if I use the scrolling function with the with the track pointand then return to using it with dual fingure on the touchpad, it sudenly works again.I ask because I had an incredibly frustrating call with tech support today and they say there is nothing they can do,even though i purchaced the extra 4 year on site warrantee, they refuse to send an engeneer out as when doing remotetesting, everything appears to be fine on their end, even though for me its not fine. The say they can only send out an engeneer if they can see a pysical fault on their end.so I'm wondering if its a fault with the W520 or the thinkpad trackpad technology in general?Ive updated the drivers, and set sensitivity to most sensitive and fiddled around loads, with no success.ive even re-imaged the machine (yes)its very amoying concidering the price of these machines.thanksadam

The previous driver allowed for edge scrolling but latest version does not have the capability.I understand for those upgrading to Windows 8 with touch screen capability this is not an issue but what about us who do not have touch screen. In my opinion this is a major flaw. Please let me hear form you if you too are unhappy about the new Windows 8 Touch pad driver. By the way, I tried rolling the driver back but the previous driver causes serious erratic behavior. Below is a screen shot of the version for the newest Windows 8 Touch Pad driver.

This problem appears on Windows 8.1

  a)  DellTouchpad.exe: this is the app called from control panel whose picture you posted.
  b)  DellTPad.exe alternate utility to set touchpad setting. When launching this I have this option (translating into english) "one finger actions/multi-finger actions", and then it allows you to set single finger vertical/horizontal scrolling.

I'm befuddled. Two finger scrolling in Windows 10 dialogs, applications and Internet Explorer/Edge all works perfectly. However, Chrome is far too sensitive and the page blazes past. I can't adjust the scroll speed in settings because that affects all other apps (in other words they'll become way too slow!) Just to make matters more confused I've also got a Logitech mouse and the scroll wheel works fine everywhere - and this means if I install an extension in Chrome to configure scroll speed to work with the touchpad I will have slowed it down to a painful rate using the scroll wheel. Any clues how to configure Chrome two finger scrolling correctly? Is this an issue with the trackpad or Chrome?

Seems like the LG monitors had this problem, but I'm here to say that it's a problem for the Lenovo monitors as well. My touch screen will register multiple random touches over several seconds, opening apps, closing apps, switching windows, and making the computer unusable. The LG firmware patch doesn't apply, and this has been an intermittent problem (naturally I'm a few months out of warranty). Is there a fix? Restarting and cleaning the screen have had no effect. Oh god, just please make it stop! How do I disable touchscreen inputs (grrrrrrrrr!)?

I have this problem since day one, which was I think the end of December 2016. I have the latest synaptics driver, 19.3.4.83, I think. This is the button closest to the front edge farthest from the keyboard. When the mouse button fails to register, which happens around once out of 30 mouse clicks, I have found that when this occurs, every single time I move the cursor with either the trackpoint or the trackpad the click will take immediately effect. If I don't move the cursor the click never takes effect. Re-clicking the mouse button tends to also work.   I've searched the board and noticed that earlier versions of the driver caused multiple click events to fire from a single physical click.  Perhaps the driver update went to far in that direction. Anyone else experience this?   I installed a ssd drive onto which I installed a lenovo win10 64 image for my model and let the lenovo companion app update everything: apps, drivers and bios. Windows 10 is at version 1607 build 14393.1198.

Hi, I've just been upto-updated by Microsoft at some point my trackpad stopped working correctly. I always used two finger scrolling with most other options disabled - worked fine.  Now Vertical scrolling works fine, but horizontal scrolling doesn't do anything.  More annoyingly is that if I try to horizontal scroll (intentionally or otherwise) it often locks the mouse cursor and can't do anything for a while.  two finger vertical scroll sometimes releases the cursor, but not always. There appear to be no lenovo driver updates available. The driver installed is Synaptics 19.0.17.22 - 30/09/2015.OS Version: Windows 10 Pro - Windows 10 Version 1511 10586 Tried everything I can find, but no joy.  Please advise if this is a known issue and/or one that will be resolved with a driver update.

Man this feels weird. I'm usually the one giving help, not asking for it lol.

Computer:

HP Pavilion dv7
Win7 Professional x64

This problem started after I left my computer on sleep for a couple hours. When I woke it up, the touchpad taps and left mouse button clicks brought up the right-click context menu and nothing on the taskbar responded to the cursor hovering over it. Also for some reason pressing the Windows key on the keyboard wouldn't bring up the Start menu. The only way I've found to correct this is to plug in a USB mouse and press the right MB on it. I also was able to fix it one time by uninstalling the Synaptics drivers and letting Windows restart and find the mouse, but after trying to reinstall the Synaptics drivers then uninstalling them again after the problem reappeared this method no longer works. In either case left click functionality is restored but there is no right click functionality period on the touchpad/buttons. However the USB mouse that I plug in works normally. Also after left click is restored, everything on the taskbar and elsewhere responds as it should with the exception of not being able to right click on anything (which sucks in W7). I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Synaptics drivers to see if that would fix it but after reinstalling them and restarting, the problem came back. Another thing I've noticed is that even with the Synaptics drivers installed the vertical scroll area doesn't respond.... Read more

It does not seem to be possible to use 2 finger tap to effect a right click. The touchpad drivers UI only allow the user to specify that a two finger click effects a right click. However it should be possible to use a 2 finger tap instead, like it is on most Synaptics touchpads. I've tried the setting the usual registry value 2FingerTapAction=2. However this does not work with the drivers that come with the Yoga 2 Pro (17.0.8.7). I've also tried it with the drivers that come with the Yoga 13 (17.0.8.4) and the Yoga 2 13 (17.0.14.71) but none of them allow it. I've found that older drivers 16.5.2.0 that come with the Yoga 11s allow it but these aren't good enough because they crash every now and then requiring a reboot. Has anyone been able to get the Yoga 2 Pro touchpad drivers make a 2 finger tab effect a right-click?

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro - Touchpad 2 Finger Tap

The closest you can get is a two finger click anywhere on the trackpad, this is in the device settings.

I have a Toshiba Satellite L4550-S5976 running under Windows 7. When I start it up (and if I catch it at the right time), the touchpad buttons work fine for a few minutes. After the machine completely boots, the touchpad button problems start - the left button performs as the right button and the right button does nothing.

On a lark, I plugged in a USB mouse and rebooted. When I do that, the mouse works fine AND the touchpad buttons work properly. Carrying around a mouse isn't always convenient so I'd like to have the machine work as expected.

I tried updating the touchpad drivers - that did not fix the problem. I even reinstalled Windows 7 on the machine - that did not fix the problem either.

Any ideas what I could do next to fix this problem?

Thanks, Brian

try in safe mode, that may work. if it does, remove programs that run on startup one by one until you find the one causing the issue

I recently purchased an XPS 15 9550 and I need middle mouse click in some of my applications. Under touchpad settings, It only allows mapping 3-finger click to Cortana or Activity Center. Does anyone know how I can get the touchpad to send a middle mouse click to my applications?  On previous laptops I have owned, they typically included a Synaptics touchpad, which always made it easy to perform this mapping using a 3-finger click, but it seems like Dell has included something custom and no such options appear to be available. Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:How to map 3-finger touchpad click to middle mouse button

Its nothing else than horrific creating a premium working ultrabook that doesn't provide a meriad of touchpad gestures. Not even middle mouse button klick ... frequently used to open links in a new tab.
I completely dont understand.
There is a way to customize it though:

Ok, let me start by saying this is a brand new Yoga 13. The issue is not a software problem. The issue is that at least one or two times a day (sometimes more,) when left clicking or right clicking by pressing on the lower left and right bottom areas of the trackpad, the button/trackpad corner remains depressed. At that point, I need to press on the opposite side of the touch pad and then it pops back up.  I spent an hour on the phone with support and don't think I ever really got the phone person to understand that this wasn't a firmware issue- it wasn't a software issue - it was a hardware issue.  So here's where it gets interesting... When we purchased the system right off the Lenovo website, we purchased the 3-year warranty with the damage protection and in-home servicing. While on the phone with customer support, the woman, and later her manager- reported that the in-home servicing was not available for the Yoga. Hard to believe since it is currently available as an add on. So, I'm not too sure where that leaves me. I have a brand new computer with an obvious hardware issue, tech support that is incapable of understanding my issue, and a company that is refusing to honor their own service plan.  Joe

I have have my ThinkPad X1 Yoga touchpad configured to use the 3 finger gesture to switch apps on the Gestures tabe of the Synaptics Control Panel.  But swiping up or down on the touchpad with 3 fingers does not do anything.  This used to work when I first got my X1 Yoga a couple of weeks ago.  But it has since stopped.  All my drivers are up to date as of today (6/8/2016).  Is anyone else having this problem? I would like to add that the two finger Pinch to Zoom gesture on my touchpad does work...

This morning, I decided to make the jump to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1, and I have to say, the design looks simpler to use, but this new OS software has done something with my touchpad. Originally, on my Windows 8.1, I was able to scroll through whatever web pages or folders in my computer with one finger using my touchpad. With this new update, initially, I thought it broke my touchpad completely, but the problem has been narrowed down to having to now use two fingers to scroll in the most awkward way as this touchpad doesn't seemed to be designed for two finger scrolling. Is there a way for me to change this back? Would I have to revert back to Windows 8.1 to get my one finger scrolling back?

The laptop I am using is a Gateway NE56R34u, and the touchpad is an ELAN. Any and all help would be much appreciated.

Answer:How to change from two-finger scrolling back to one-finger scrolling?

Would Gateway drivers for their touchpad be one area to explore ?

I was looking at a Logitech touchpad, and it appears their drivers are what controls the response/numbers of fingers/digits.

Scrolling in chrome is giving me a headache.  And I can't for the life of me find the touchpad settings for my new Yoga 910.  I searched both the control panel and metro settings with no luck.  I even went into the device manager and no touchpad to be found.  Usually there's a tab in the mouse properties but for some odd reason it doesn't exist on this computer.  Any direction would be much appreciated.

I have a brand new P50 with windows 7 enterprise N 64-bit that keeps scrolling up or down if the bottom left button is on for more approximately 2 seconds. I have tried updating the driver to version 19.0.17.87. When I use the top left mouse button it doesn't continue to scroll after I release the button. I have swapped the button configuration and it did the same thing with the bottom right button. When I unistalled the lenovo synaptics drivers and just used the defualt ps/2 drivers it doesn't do it. I have tapping and scrolling disabled on the touchpad. I have looked at all the settings I know of many times with no help. I have tried uninstalling all the drivers and reinstalling them with no luck. It does this in most software programs such as excel, outlook, mozilla, windows explorer, etc. It is very annoying. Any and all help is appreciated. Also, this is my first post because I usually can find the answer somewhere, but not this time!

Hi I have an X100e (dual core turion ybased) which appears to have developed a problem with the left most key at the foot of the touchpad. Specifically, it has developed an annoying clicking sound periodically when in use. I believe the click may be something to do with a bar that may be sitting under the key to ensure that the whole key moves parallel to the keyboard when pressed (much like other wide keys such as the space bar, the shift or enter kes). What I would like to know is whether there is a way to reseat the key to resolve the clicking sound or whether rectification of the problem lies in returning the product to a service centre for the palm rest (part code: 60Y5284) to be changed. Roger

If you have a mouse, you can use it to delete the touch pad driver and re-install it.

Hello, im trying to figure out, how to enable 3 finger tap for a middle mouse click on my yoga 720 15. There are some solutions out there suggesting editing the registry, but i don't have the entries they name and no other entries, that could be related to the touchpad for that matter. The device manager lists the touchpad simply as "hid-compatible touchpad" with no further information. I even tried installing the synaptics software on the off chance, that that would work, but it said, that no synaptic device was detected. I can switch the 3 finger tap from opening cortana to opening the info center, to doing nothing, but thats it. Can anyone help me? regards Sebastian

The trackpad and touchpad of my Yoga stops working: the cursor freezes and after a while disappears from screen. Once the cursor is gone it does not appear again, even after a clean reboot. I have tried to enable it via the Control Panel Mouse settings or Input section of ?Lenovo Settings? application but had no success.
The problem has happened several times so far, always after the laptop sleeps due to inactivity. The only way I have found so far to bring the trackpad and touchpad back is by going to the BIOS settings and restoring the default configurations (I have never changed the BIOS settings on this PC, so I can?t figure out why this solves momentarily the problem).

Any ideas on why this problem is happening, and how to solve it without messing with the BIOS settings?

This is becoming really annoying, it has happened three times since yesterday (10/23/15).

My BIOS version when this first happened was 1.26 (GQET46WW), my current BIOS version is 1.27 (GQET47WW). My laptop runs Windows 10 Pro (automatically updated from the Windows 8.1 version delivered with the laptop).

Answer:Yoga - Trackpad and touchpad stops working

Hi jrojasledesma Can you post the model of you Thinkpad Yoga? You can try updating the mouse driver of your Thinkpad, but it is important to know the model to see if it has a ELAN, ALPS or Synaptics mouse. Regards

Answer:Why isn't the two finger scrolling gesture no longer working after upgrading to Windows 10 (Lenovo G50)?

Same thing happened to my two-year old Samsung laptop, but fortunately I have downloaded the touchpad driver before so re-installation was easy.
Have you tried checking for driver updates in Device Manager? This method should automatically search for, download and install the driver for your touchpad. Take note, however, that you may need to uninstall the current driver first before it would be able to detect a new one, so make sure you have your mouse ready.
If that doesn't work, try checking the manual or documentation of your laptop - there must be some information about what kind of touchpad is in your Lenovo. Once you find information about your touchpad, it would be easier to search for the appropriate driver manually.

The left mouse button clicks EVERYTHING I mouse over, regardless of whether or not I actually click it. I use the red TrackPoint and have my thumb on the left mouse button, ready to click what I *want* to select but it randomly clicks things even when I don't want to click things. Is there some kind of driver I should install or is this a defect in the machine?
