Microsoft Office For Business - Office 365 Or Office 2016

Question: Microsoft Office For Business - Office 365 Or Office 2016

We currently use Office 2007 and Office 2010 on our about 20 workstations. I'm looking to move to MS office 365 for hosted exchange. I found out that as of the first of this year, Microsoft no longer support Outlook 2007 or 2010 for hosted exchange. It seems to be working just fine so far at another site I'm involved with. The issue is that if you ever contact support, they will blame the version of Outlook you're on. So, I'm looking at options for upgrading.

Do you guys that are on office 365 for email using the premium version that includes the office subscription or buy Office 2016?

For the most part, we just need outlook, word and excel. We do have 6 people that will need powerpoint also.

Just looking for a recommendation from you guys on what makes the most sense.

Thanks!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I bought Microsoft Office Home and Business 2016 with my latest desktop purchase.
What license does it come with, as it cost me the same as the full product elsewhere.

Get ready for a new selection of preview software from Microsoft to test out: today the company launched both the Office 2016 IT Pro and Developer Preview, and the Skype for Business Preview.

Answer:Microsoft releases Office 2016, Skype for Business previews

I still have Office 2013 which I haven't even bothered to install yet let alone use, 2010 I use on occasion so I won't be taking an interest in 2016 for a while yet.

Anyone migrated their business from Microsoft Office to Open Office?

Thinking about doing it as a way to cut back on costs. Currently we are using variety of office versions right now (2007, 2003, & 2000) It would cost a small fortune to get everyone on the same version.

Just looking for some feedback, share your thoughts and experiences. Thanks.

Answer:Anyone migrated their business from Microsoft Office to Open Office?

I don't run any company or enterprise, but it's been several years I'm happily using open office, it's 3 times smaller than MS and to me much easier to use. I think the functions and features and interface are pretty well organized. And for that all, it's freeware.

Are there any differences between office 365 home and office 2016 pro when you compared their installations of word, excel, power point and publisher?
For example, is Word from O365 the same as Word in Office 2016? Or does one have more options/features than the other?

Hi  Newbie in UK here and need some pointers on this subject, MS Office Home & Business 2016  I'm in the process of buying a new laptop with Win 10 to replace my aging Dell on Vista (yes, its ancient!). I have found another Dell that I want to buy but adding the additional Office H&B 2016 significantly bumps up the price. So my query is: 1. Buying Office H&B 2016 from an external seller that I'd found on line is significantly cheaper than from Dell or from MS. How do I know the package is a genuine one and not an imitation/fake from the external seller? 2. The risk of buying 1 that turns out to be fake could be costly, e.g. result in a complete Windows install, or cause even more damage which may require Dell support, which they may not assist due to the Office H&B 2016 is purchased from an external seller?  What are your thoughts? Are there any seller for MS Office Home & Business 2016 that anyone could recommend for UK?  Thanks in advance.Edit: Moved topic from Windows 10 to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

Hi,

Before installing Office 365 (office 2016) and onedrive, my username to logon to my laptop, was "AJ ANNING" and a specific pAasswAord. Now my username does not show up at logon. "JAMES ANNING" is what shows up, and the username is now my email "[email protected]" and the password is different. Going to user accounts in control panel the only user is "[email protected]". The user "AJ ANNING" is not there.
Also, I can no longer access 3 of my network drives.
Please advise,

Answer:Installing office 365 (office 2016) and onedrive, PC username replaced

So even though "the password is different" you are still able to log onto the computer? I installed Office 365 on a new Notebook on Thursday and none of the log-in for the computer changed. As for the Networked drives, you may need to use File Explorer to Disconnect the drives then Map them again [I've had to a couple of times in the past].

Office 2016 Installation Routine Deleting Older Stand-alone Apps

I can't say I wasn't warned. I was part way through installing Microsoft Office 2016 on my primary workstation when I got a message that said, "Stop, you should wait to install Office 2016." The error message went on to say that if I decided to continue anyway, my copy of Microsoft Visio Standard 2013 would be removed. Since I had the original disk from when I purchased the software, I went ahead. Bad move. It turns out that when Microsoft says that Visio 2013 won't work with Office 2016, it means it won't even have the chance to work. Any attempt to reinstall the software will be thwarted. The fact that you paid for the software is beside the point. You're basically out of luck. When I went to the Microsoft community forums, which is where Microsoft handles much of its tech support, I discovered that I wasn't alone. Apparently hundreds of people who'd purchased stand-alone Microsoft Office products were affected, and they weren't happy about it.

Furthermore, the problem extended far beyond Visio. Users with Microsoft Project, Publisher, Access, InfoPath and SharePoint Designer were also affected. Likewise, Microsoft customers who purchased Office Apps that are normally part of Office suites but may have been purchased separately, such as Outlook 2013, were also affected.

Hi Folks,

The title of the thread says it all really.

I have legitimate copy of Microsoft Office 2007 Ultimate on my PC. I have just bought a copy of Office 2016 Professional Plus through the HUP.

I haven't installed Office 2016 yet - I use Office 2010 at work and find using Custom Animations in PowerPoint tricky compared to Office 2007.

I'd like to install Office 2016 alongside Office 2007 until I have tried Office 2016 to see if the Custom Animations in PP are easier than the 2010 version before switching completely.

My question is, can I install Office 2016 alongside Office 2007 without conflicts - switching between versions without a problem or will installing Office 2016 screw Office 2007 or worse FUBAR both Office installations or my PC.

Any help gratefully received.

Cheers,

Zaph

The issue is specific to Office 2016 on Win 10 (Office 2016 on Win 7, no problem, Office 2010 on Win 10, no problem). Certain documents (reported by a user who receives documents with Japanese text, haven't seen it happen with others) have the layout messed up, a 2 page Word doc gets spread over 4 pages, and I've been given some sample powerpoint slides which have text overflowing the end of the slide.

Word doc was originally in Legacy 2003 format, I did manage to make this particular document display correctly by saving it in .docx format, then enabling compatibility changes via vba, setting to 2010 compatibility and enabling "Use printer metrics to lay out document" based on what I read here: BUG!! Word 2016 fails to print margins correctly / messes - Microsoft Community

The other sample file I received was a .pptx - haven't been able to find corresponding compatibility options in Powerpoint.

Wouldn't be quite so annoying if they didn't both display perfectly in Windows 7.

Answer:Office Document layout/margins overflow on Office 2016 + Win 10

Turns out it was some sort of font substitution issue. I noticed the fonts in Word/Powerpoint weren't present in the Windows font dir. Copied them over from another Win 7 machine, suddenly everything looks fine.

Not sure why Office 2010 did a better job of it than 2016, I couldn't really pick if there was a difference in the Japanese characters before and after the font, only that the page layout was stuffed...

I have found a few places online that sell the MS Office Home & Business package but have reservations due to possible fakes/imitations leading to security risks etc.

Could someone offer any pointers where and what to look out for and avoid?

Good Evening Everyone,

I have a few questions concerning the Installation of 2010 Office. I know that I have to uninstall Office 2007. I have no clue on how to save or where to save my documents from Office 2007. The documents consist of Word, Excel, Powerpoint and a few various folders. Should I from the Start Menue click on Documents select all and copy. Where should I place this copy? Can It be left on my hard drive? After I install Office 2010 can I then copy the "Document File" and place in Documents. Will all the files end up in the proper place for their programs, Word files go to Word, Excel goes to Excel so on and so forth. Thank you so much for all your help and cooperation. It is greatly appreciated. I hope I described my situation correctly. I look forward to hearing from you.

Answer:2010 Office Professional Plus to Replace 2007 Office Small Business

But you don't have to uninstall Office 2007 to upgrade to 2010. That's the general rule as you can generally upgrade from lower SKUs to higher SKUs (Small Business to Pro Plus). As far as saving your documents, you can really save them wherever you like on your hard drive or on any CD or flash drive if you wish to do so. As far as file types, after 2010 is installed, they should all register properly for their programs so that Word documents open in Word, Excel Documents in Excel, etc.

Though if you have all of you documents already saved within "Documents" or "My Documents" or some other folder you've set aside and you want to uninstall 2007 before upgrading to 2010, the documents themselves will be retained when you uninstall, you just won't be able to really do much with them until you install 2010.

If you wish to carry out a a complete repair of your Office 2016 or Office 365 installation on your Windows 10 PC, you can choose to undertake an Online Repair.
Quick Repair runs faster but only detects and replaces corrupted files. Online Repair takes longer, but does an uninstall and a complete repair.
To carry out an Online Repair, open Control Panel > Programs & Features. Here right-click on Office installation and select Change. You will see the following box.
Select Online Repair and let setup do its work. This post offers additional options on how to Repair Office & Uninstall individual Microsoft Office programs, along with help of switches.

You didn't say what types of accounts they are, but mostly likely there isn't a way, unless there is a third-party tool or these are Exchange accounts.

Since upgrading my main desktop to Windows 10, I began having trouble with my Office 2013 installation. I would get the "swirling circle" and the "application has stopped responding" error messages very frequently. I was able to buy the Office 2016 suite for $10 through my employer (Microsoft HUP) and since upgrading the application, I have not seen the error. Of course, I've only had Office 2016 on my PC for one day, so I'll keep checking to see if the problem returns. Has anyone else had issues with Office 2013 and Win10? Thanks!

Answer:Office 2013 issues, upgraded to Office 2016...

In fact Office is working nicely for me in Windows 10. I had PCs with Office 2007 and even with the old Office 2003 and I have not yet had complaints about crashes.

Microsoft offers a FixIt tool, which allows you to do a clean uninstall of the Office 2013 files so that you can afterwards create a clean Office installation again. As an additional ressort, there even is a description of how to manually uninstall Office 2013. I did not have to test it, but that might have helped you as well.

Hi there

I think this comment is allowed - there is an NDA but I think this is OK. The latest update installs OFFICE 2016 just fine and works OK. Office 2010 is left untouched so you can run BOTH concurrently.

OUTLOOK 2016 though uses the same data file as Outlook 2010 so SEND from outlook 2010 hoses up with "Cant access Outlook data file".

However once you've sent the email with Outlook 2016 you can see it in the SENT folder of both Outlook 2010 and 2016 so using Outlook 2016 during the preview won't cause carnage to your existing office outlook.

So far very impressed -- FORGET OFFICE 2013 completely. 2016 is STREETS better and you can get rid of that hideous over white theme too. NDA so can't post image.

Note I'm using x-64 for both Office 2010 and 2016.

If you want to try the Links were open this morning -- this could have been an error because they might close again soon.
So far so good -- note some people get activation message unless they have Office 365 subscription --I don't have and didn't seem to get that message.

Am using Windows 10 x-64 Enterprise as the OS I'm testing this on --running on a REAL machine, build 9926.

Cheers

Hi there

It looks like that a Student and Teacher edition of Office 2016 will be available at around 90 GBP - 105 EUR while an Office 365 subscription will be around 60 GBP - 73 EUR for 1 year. Since the Student edition will work on 3 machines it seems to me the subscription model is bad value compared with Office 2016.

Now there might be a caveat -- not sure if OUTLOOK 2016 is included with Student and Teacher --we'll have to wait and see.

There *Might* also be an Upgrade price from Office 2010 / 2013 too.

I bought my Office 365 for cheap in college. It is registered to me under a college email that I no longer can access.
(this is a problem because I used that account to sign up for Bing Ads and the customer support is always messing with me to prove it is my account, hard to do when you cannot access the old email, it is a pain in the rear)
Anyway, if I buy 365 again and register it under a new email, will I lose access to all the storage I have in my school account, or will that remain. Can the accounts be synced? (the on-screen prompts imply they can be synced, but I don't trust MS enough to not verify that this is true)

I assume if I just renew it under the now-defunct email address nothing will change. Except I will be out $69 for a 1 year subscription.

What if I just buy Office 2016 for $71 and keep it for several years.
(if these guys are for real, https://www.istarsoftware.com/112-microsoft-office-2016)

Is there a difference for my purposes? I use MS Word, Excel and Outlook daily.
But I use them at the novice to lower average level user level.

Do you think Office 2016, that will last for several years and is cheaper, will be OK?

I use Outlook to access various emails and I do some very simple spread sheet manipulations with Excel.

To be honest, if it weren't for Outlook I would probably not buy it at all. I like the email client. Otherwise Open Office (I think it is called) is more than sufficient I would think.

Hi - I am working on an MS XP which I bought second hand from a computer fix-it place. The computer came with Office Small Business. Since this computer has Access on it, I ---- in all my infinite questionable wisdom --- decided to teach myself this application. But, the Access wizards require Office 2000 SR-1 Professional. Can you tell me how to get Office Professional? I've been unemployed since February and not looking forward to paying for anything these days -- will it cost me? Do I need to remove Small Business before loading Professional? Should I just forget it and work with whatever I can with Small Business? Thank you for your infinite wisdom.

I assume that you are running the 2000 of OSB version on this machine.
Does your machine have the Office 2000 SR 1 installed?

Also check for ALL of the Office updates and install them.

Hi cstull1217 Microsoft Office allows you to uninstall components separately. To do so, simply go in the Control Panel and uninstall Microsoft Office. It'll ask you if you want to uninstall Office, repair the installation, modify it, etc. Select the option to modify Office, and opt-out the ones you don't need before proceeding.https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Install-or-remove-individual-Office-2010-programs-and-components-aeb80df5-326c-4afc-8064-bd195f560753

No.

While possible it is not recommended to install multiple versions of Office on the same computer. But they both must be the same bits. The only way this could be done is to install one on a virtual machine.

220 or a yearly subscription as I understand it - correct?

Libre Office - nowt, nothing, bugger-all, for free.

Libre works well and you can save documents and spreadsheets with a MS file extension so MS Office users can open your Libre Office file.

Unless MS have put the kibosh on that with latest release, I don't know, but probably unlikely.

I will concede MS Office has two very good programs though - Outlook and Publisher, almost worth the 220 smackers for those two.

After much messing around I have discovered that if you use Windows 7 'Associate a file type or protocol with a program' to set default programs for file types, it breaks the File Types selection within a given program (in my case Microsoft Office Picture Manager) and you are no longer able to use the program itself to set file types only the Windows 7 function. You can tick/untick file associations all day long within Microsoft Office Picture Manager and nothing gets associated/unassociated. The File Types option is basically broken. I have also noticed this occur with 7-zip which actually causes a more serious issue. By default .zip is not listed in the Windows 7 list of 'Associate a file type or protocol with a program' window but is listed if you associate .zip with 7-zip's own file association option. BUT if you then subsequently use windows 7 to re-associate .zip with Windows Explorer, the .zip vanishes (because by default is is not listed), breaks 7-zips file association options and you can no longer associate .zip files with 7-zip, EVER. Basically I am curious as to why Windows 7 own file association options would break software's own internal file association options so badly to the point they are essentially useless and if there is a fix. I even tried completely reinstalling Microsoft Office and removing all references of it within the registry, no luck. Its not a big deal but I just found it odd that a fundamental piece of Windows 7 would harm the integrit... Read more

Answer:Microsoft Office Picture Manager - Office 07 - Broken File Types

I don't believe it has anything to do with Office 2007/ Picture manager I use it myself,
I do not use 7-Zip but that seems the likely bug,
Windows handles Zip folders just like any other folder so 7-Zip is something I don't understand why people need or want it but I don't need any or need to make any Zip folders either

I have Office 2010 Standard Open License Version installed on 7 XP Pro machines. We discovered, when trying to open a .tif file, that Document Imaging has been removed from Office 2010. I found and followed instructions in KB982760 from the MS web site. I got lots of parts of Office 2007, including Word, but still no Document Imaging. I tried going through Add/Remove Programs to add the feature; still no luck. Has anyone been successful getting Document Imaging from a previous version of Office to run under 2010?

Thanks,

All of these three apps (Microsoft Office, LibreOffice, and Open Office) freeze immediately after opening any file such as .docx, .doc, etc through them.
The problems with all the three apps started at the same time. I have reinstalled the apps several times, but that didn't solve anything.
There is no antivirus except Windows 10' Defender.
Please help. I am going crazy here.
I've Windows 10 home edition. It is updated.

Answer:Microsoft Office, Open Office, LibreOffice - all three apps freezing!!

Does the same happen if you try this in Safe Mode?

Have you changed your page file settings from default?

Do you have a system restore point or disk images (which we strongly and repeatedly recommend using) you can use to return to a point before this problem started?

Hi all

I am using Windows XP and office 2003. I am using Microsoft Office Picture Manager to view tif files.

PROBLEM:

1. I open a tif file.
2. I make an annotation change eg: Use the hightlighting tool to hightlight some text. Fine, no problem!
3. I save the document.
4. I close the document and try reopening it:

I get this error:

"The file selected is not a valid Microsoft Document Imaging file"

I recreated my Windows XP profile and this resolved the problem

That was two weeks ago........now the problem is back!

Any ideas?

Since I had installed Microsoft (Business) Outlook on my new (Vista) computer two years ago I have had trouble connecting to my "Hotmail" accoun. I need hardly point out that I am very much 'on line'. Of a number of problems, this, at the cost, is the most exasperating. Can anyone steer a path for me. or will I have to wait for 7? Okay back the end of November I downloaded a trial of the new Office. According to Microsoft it would not interfere with my Office XP and that when I had used the product x number of times it would no longer work and basically uninstall itself if I did not buy it.

Everything was fine until the trial ran out and I followed the uninstall directions. Now when I start my computer across my desktop runs a bunch of boxes before it finally stops at one that says "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the 'Microsoft Office XP Small Business' disk and click OK."

Problem for me is that disk is with everything else I own in a storage unit almost 1,800 miles away!(long story) Is there any way I can fix this computer software problem without having to buy new?

Can you explain how something like this happened because Microsoft has no answer.

Thank you

Answer:Microsoft Office 2016 3 User license

As far as I know, Microsoft does no longer offer Office standalone with multiple licenses.

Your best shot is Office 365 Home. It gives you 5 licenses with ?7.99 a month / ?79.99 a year (yearly subscriptions are "pay for 10 get 12"). Compared to Office 365 Personal with one license at ?5.99 / ?59.99, Home is a good deal.

Compare the prices: Compare Office Suites at Microsoft Store United Kingdom

If you want to share O365 Home with two other users, you all three get 60 minutes free calls (Skype to phone) per month and 1 TB of OneDrive in addition to full Office 2016 suite of desktop applications. You will then have two Office 2016 installs over to be used as you want to, for instance on two additional computers of yours, plus you have two additional 1 TB OneDrives to grant to other MS accounts of yours.

Hi, all. I have an issue with Microsoft Office on my Dell Inspiron 15. Apparently, when they made this computer and preprogrammed Office, they chose 64 bit. Which is fine. But my college offers a free license to Office ProPlus 2016 for the duration of my being a student...But the problem is, the school's download is a 32 bit. Microsoft Office then tells me that it won't allow the download, because "The 32 bit does not get along with the 64 bit version."

I kind of need Office, but it doesn't want to play nice today...

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I?m from Ukraine, so could you explain me what I must do, using easy words, please?) I?m looking forward for your answer.) Sorry for mistakes also. : D

Answer:Popup from Microsoft Office 2016 (officebackgroundtaskhandler.exe)

Hi oleg2001. Welcome to the TenForums @oleg2001

I did a quick search and lots of hits. This one I copied. Appears to be a known issue that MS is working on according to web page.

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...0-461cd2c3ea13

If you want to stop you should be able to disable in Task Scheduler. Right click on task and then click on disable.

Before you disable force Office to check for updates. Click on File, then depending on which Office product you have open, either Office Account or Account. Middle of page is Updates. Once updated see if problem still occurs.

Not sure what the task actually does so you will want to enable task every so often until a fix is received to allow it to do its job.

Microsoft has already announced a ton of exciting stuff this week, but the company isn't done yet. Today, it announced that the next version of its fully-featured Office suite of desktop PC applications will be called Office 2016.

Microsoft has been testing the new version of Office internally with a handful of its key partners. Images that leaked last year suggest the new release won't rock the boat too much in terms of design, although customers can expect to see a range of new features and improvements.

The company said today that it "will have more to share on Office 2016 in the coming months", confirming its earlier promise of releasing the new applications "in the second half of 2015" ? perhaps coinciding with the launch of Windows 10, which is expected around the same time.

Although Microsoft did not publicly show its new Office 2016 desktop applications this week, it did unveil its new suite of touch-friendly Office apps for Windows. As with the touch-optimized Office apps on Android and iOS, they lack the complete feature set of the desktop applications, but they still offer many of the features that users need most often for creating, editing and sharing documents.

As Universal Windows apps, they'll be available not just on Windows 10 PCs, notebooks, and tablets, but also on smartphones. Microsoft shared a few images of the Office touch apps for Windows 10 today, showing how they'll look on handsets and devices with l... Read more

I recently installed the Microsoft Office 2010 Beta, but this morning its intro screen stays stuck at "Starting Microsoft Office Click-to-Run." Googling it resulted in only two threads, neither of them having the answer.

I'm back to using Office 2007, by simply setting my Word and Excel documents to open by Office 2007 by default, but now my Word and Excel icons have become much less pretty, such as my Word icons becoming a very plain "DOCX" icon instead of the normal "blue W" icon. I checked, and the file types are still regular Word documents. Is there a way to get the pretty icons back?

Answer:Office 2010 Problems: "Starting Microsoft Office Click-to-Run" & Unattractive DOCX icons for Word documents.

Regarding changing the icon:
Go to either My Computer or Windows Explorer.
Click Tools, Folder Options, File Types tab.
Scroll down to the DOCX file type (file types are in alphabetical order), click on it one time to highlight it.
Click the Advanced button.
The "Edit File Type" screen appears.
There is a Change Icon button in the top right area.
Click the Change Icon button.
You should have other icon choices to pick from.
Side note: If you don't like any of those icons, you can always hit the Browse button,
and browse to where other icons are, (you can assign any icon to any file type that you want, it is a matter of personal preference).
Icons are found in .exe files (executables), some (not all) .dll (dynamic link library) files, and .ico files.

Ok, well up until yesterday my father was using Office 2000 with Microsoft binder for work. He just got a new laptop for work and he's got Office 2007 installed. From the looks of Microsoft's site it states that 'Microsoft Unbind is not included with Office 2007.' Looks like what I really need is Microsoft Binder from Office 2000. Is there a place I can download it (legally) or purchase it? He literally has thousands of binder files (*.obd) that he needs to be able to access. I've tried searching with nothing turning up.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Answer:Microsoft Office Binder (*.obd files) with Office 2007?

So further searching turned up that Unbind for Office XP/2003 is just a waste of time for Office 2007 and no point in looking further into that.

So then I found this:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=822622

Which seems to me if I can track down a Office 2000 disc I should be able to install JUST Binder 2000. Results show that it works along side Office XP/2003 so I don't see why it wouldn't with Office 2007. It would only be used to unbind old files, not create new ones.

If anyone has any other thoughts that would be great.
I'll look into what I wrote above tomorrow and post back with the results if need be.

Microsoft has announced the availability of Service Pack 2 (SP2) for the 2007 Microsoft Office system few days back. I've had Office 97 since 1997 and have been happy with it, however, since many documents I receive have been done on newer versions of Office, I decided to buy Microsoft Office Home & Student.  My other reason is that I have recently purchased a laptop that doesn't have a word processing program so I figured I would buy the newer version because the salesman assured me that I could legally run the new version on both of my computers, but Office 97 cannot be run legally on both computers.  Since I have thousands of documents done with Office 97 I am wondering how well these documents will open on the newer version?  The salesman at Staples said that the two programs would run along side each other and that I didn't have to delete Office 97 from my system.  Is this true?  And will they play nice together?  I also have more than a few documents on floppies that were made with Word Perfect in 1995.  Will I have a problem opening these in the newer version of Office?  And yes, I still have 2 floppy drives on my computer that I had built about 4 years ago.  I never have much luck putting stuff on re-writeable cds and then getting them to open again and do changes.  I have an external hard drive instead.  Thanks for your time.

Answer:Installing Microsoft Office Home & Student along with Office 97

Word 97 documents will open fine with Word 2007.  You can then decide whether to save it in Word 97-2003 format, i.e., .doc, or the newer Word 2007 format, i.e., .docx.   If you want, you can set Word 2007 to use the Word 97-2003 format by default.Installing two versions of Office on the same computer can be done but it's not recommended.  If you want to install both, do a careful read of this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/218861

I have Microsoft Office Home and Business 2007.  My question is, I have tried to set up a standard email with an ATTACHMENT, and send it to different receipients many times.  I tried some solutions some have given me and they didn't work.  I was told I need Microsoft Outlook Express to do an email over and over again with an ATTACHMENT.  Is that correct, if so I need to get it.  Also, is there a way to fax with a laptop wireless?  If so, can I buy a scanner and do it that way?  Thanks.

Answer:Microsoft Office Home and Business 2007???

Quote from: joepinger on April 01, 2010, 08:34:19 AMI have Microsoft Office Home and Business 2007.  There's no such version of Office.  I assume you mean Home and Student, which does not have Outlook, the email client. QuoteI was told I need Microsoft Outlook Express to do an email over and over again with an ATTACHMENT. You're running Windows Vista, right?  So, you don't have, and can't install, Outlook Express.  But, you have Windows Mail.  So, use it.  Attachments are no problem.  Any of the aforementioned email clients, Outlook Express, Outlook, and Windows Mail would apply to POP maill accounts, not a webmail account such as gmail, Yahoo! Mail, or Hotmail.  Do you have a POP email account?  Many people use a POP email account provided by their ISP.  But, sending attachments via a webmail account should also be no problem.  So, your question dosen't make a lot of sense.  What type of email account are you currently using?

Hi. I'm new to this forum and have a question. I am encountering a problem that is related to Microsoft Notebook, at least. The problem was intermittent but now happens all the time. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, SP 1, on a Dell XPS 8300. I subscribe to Microsoft Office 365. I do not have Microsoft Office 2010 installed, but when I try to print to One Note I get the following error message, "Microsoft Office Home and Business 2010 cannot verify the license for this application. A repair attempt failed or was canceled by the user. The application will now shut down." How can I prevent that message? Office 2010 does not show up in Control Panel Programs and Features, or in IObit Uninstaller 4.2.

I just set up a new Windows 10 computer, with Office 2016 Home and Business. I am unable to print from any Office 2016 applications to the Windows to PDF printer. I get the attached error message. This is the same error message I get when trying to print to an older laser printer I have. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Error message printing to Microsoft PDF from Office 2016

What is the error message?

Wouldn't Microsoft Office Professional 2016 in P51 ThinkPAd when ordered with laptop (with 64 bit Windows10) (pre-activated) be 64 bit version? Would this be a logical assumption?

I have product keys for Office 2016 Pro on MSDN, using those keys I can activate office 2016 by just entering the product key. MSDN has been migrated to a new Visual Studio Subscription site. On that new site under product keys I have my old Office 2016 keys listed as "Office Professional Plus 2016 (Discontinued) and new keys listed as "Office Professional Plus 2016". The discontinued keys still work, I'm still using them.
here's the weird part. Just tried to use one the new keys and I get menu's I have never seen before.
Sorry for the quality, camera acting weird on me. They looked fine in the viewer. I'm logged in with a local account on this PC. I only went as far as the last screen shoot. If I don't do the redeem online, office will not activate. It just asks for a product code and starts all over. If I enter one of my original MSDN keys on that first screen, it activates right away without the add this key an account stuff. If I use one of my new keys I'm back in the add this key to an account loop. I'm debating starting all over again after switching to a Microsoft account to see what happens.

Anybody else seen this? I did a quick forum search and didn't find anything?

Answer:Microsoft changed someething in the Office 2016 setup?

Ok, if I click the FAQ link I get here. Which makes me think my new keys are office 365 keys? They are listed as Retail though on VISUAL Studio? This is the first time I have used one of these new keys. Really confused now?

My issue is with Microsoft office and how to make it more stable and responsive. My system isn't that [H]ard any more, but should be enough for Word.

i5-2500k @4.3
16GB DDR 1866
256GB Samsun 830 SSD +3x 3TB HDD
Windows 10 64 edu

Word 2016 with ad-on for Mendeley.
I don't have as much trouble with one chapter, but now with 2 chapters 48 pages, 21k words with hangs a lot.
Of coures I could remove Mendeley but I already have 8 pages of references and would not want to do them by hand.
It can be especially slow now when adding a reference, hanging for half a minute.

Both pieces of software are installed on the SSD and are up to date. What can I do to increase responsiveness without upgrading to a whole new system and adding an M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD?

I can work on a separate file for each chapter but this is not ideal.

The mouse snap-to feature I am referring to is this: "When enabled, this setting causes the mouse pointer to snap-to the default button of the active application window."

I have a Windows 7 desktop that I used Microsoft Office 2007 on for a number of years. The mouse snap-to feature worked with Office 2007 as well most (probably all) other applications. Last year I upgraded the Windows 7 desktop to Microsoft Office 2016 only to find the mouse snap-to feature does not function with the newer office suite.

Late last year I bought a new Windows 10 desktop computer and installed Microsoft Office 2016 on it. The mouse snap-to feature works on most (probably all) of the applications on this newer computer except . . . you guessed it . . . Microsoft Office 2016.

Is there a way to enable/disable the mouse snap-to function in Microsoft Office 2016? Is there a way to activate it in Office? Does the mouse snap-to function work for other users in Microsoft Office 2016?

Thanks.

I use Microsoft Word almost everyday, but lately when I open it, Microsoft Office Small Business 2000 tries to install. If I quickly click cancel on the 3 screens that pop up, Word opens up ok and everything is fine for the rest of the day. If I let the thing run, it asks for a disk that I don't have. I've never used any version of Microsoft Office. Any ideas as to why this is happening?

Answer:Trying to install Microsoft Office 2000 Small Business

I usually recommend Open Office at www.openoffice.org.  It will read most Word files, and doc files.  It doesn't yet read the new docx format which Microsoft introduced in Office2007.
