Flex-3 Keyboard & Touchpad stopped responding!

Question: Flex-3 Keyboard & Touchpad stopped responding!

I'm running a Flex-3 with Windows 10. Have not made any recent updates or changes to the system, but integrated keyboard and touchpad have stopped responding. USB keyboard and bluetooth mouse work normally. I'm simply trying to confirm if it is a hardware (motherboard) issue since that seems to be the most likely, but Troubleshooting and the Lenovo Solution Center scans indicate no issues. I updated keyboard driver to no effect. One strange result, if I disconnect all USB and Bluetooth devices and reboot, the Touchpad will again respond. Keyboard will not. As soon as I activate Bluetooth mouse, touchpad stops working. Thank you in advance.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

HELP. My keyboard and touchpad stopped working. Laptop is brand new. I checked Control Panel > Device Manager and system says both of them are working fine. Drivers are also updated.I`m typing with an external keyboard and mouse. Touchscreen and touch-keyboard work both fine. Is there anything I can check in the OS to verify what is going on? Maybe I turned off something. It's a mistery, laptop is brand new. Thanks in advance!!

The issue has already solved, just writing for thos who might have the same issue. One day when I turned the notebook on, the keyboard and touchpad did not work. Restarting ddi not help. The only thing I put my attention that time was the battery is almost discharged, so I turned the notebook off, closed the lid, and plugged it in. The next day I turned it on, and everything was working.  Another idea on why it happened: when the notebook lid opens and closes, it might switch to tablet mode, so that the keyboad and touchpad are off.

I have recently updated the BIOS on my E530 laptop to version 2.08 (the previously installed version was 1.xx, probably 1.37 as far as I remember, but am not sure about the exact version..). After the update the laptop keyboard and touchpad stopped working in Windows. The keyboard does, however, work in the BIOS and both (keyboard and touchpad) work when the computer enters the Windows-startup-help screen (where it suggests to fix hard drive errors etc.).I am using Windows 8 all along and before I never had problems with my hardware. Now both the keyboard and touchpad are recognized in Window's Device manager, but are known to have troubles. There is also a PCI Device recognized in the category "Other devices", but it's missing any drivers (I wonder if there is a connection..). All those three are recognized as such by the Lenovo Solutions Center as well.I have tried reinstalling the UltraNav drivers, but it wouldn't help. Also, I've tried finding any possible configuration regarding my problem in the BIOS, but was unsuccessful. If I attach an external mouse or keyboard, they work.I really don't know what else to do to get my laptop's keyboard & touchpad working! I would be more than happy if anyone could help. The complete description of my laptop is: ThinkPad Edge E530 (3259-HLG), running Windows 8 (x64).

Answer:Keyboard & Touchpad stopped responding!

Hey there Green1230 and welcome to the forums!

This is a rather unusual problem your having, within the Device Manager, are there exclamation marks next to keyboard and mouse? For the unknown device could you please do the following:
- Open Device Manager and right-click on the first of the problem devices.
- Select Properties from the pop-up and switch to the Details tab of the new window.
- Select Hardware Ids from the Property dropdown menu.
- Copy the information from the Value section of the window and paste back here.

This will help us determine the other device driver. If you could also check that you have up to date:
Power Manager Driver
Intel Chipset Driver

You mention already updating the UltraNav Driver(v 16.2.9.3), if you have not already, try uninstalling it completely first, downloading the file and running it from your desktop. I hope this helps.

My laptop's touchpad has stopped working completely. Acer 803LCi XP Pro SP2 fully up to date. Virus software also up to date and finds nothing. It first happened when I restarted in safe mode for a defrag, so I guess it's not a conflict? But now it doesn't work in any mode. I'd recently done some Windows updates, including a new smartcard reader driver, but a System Restore didn't help. I disabled the smartcard services from running just in case. Device Manager says the device is working properly. Event Viewer shows nothing relevant.Maybe its just broken but I don't believe that - it stopped working on a reboot, and anyway the laptop hadn't been moved for ages, there was no shock or anything. What do you reckon?

Answer:Touchpad stopped responding

Try deleting the touchpad from Device Manager and rebooting. Win should find the "new" device and load the drivers. If a driver became corrupt, this should fix it.If that doesn't work first time, repeat it but tell Win to load new drivers. Point it at the driver supplied with your laptop (usually on a disk or partition of the laptop).

Hi, I'm using a Flex 3 -1470 and whenever I press a key on the keyboard the touchpad becomes disabled. When using my Flex 2-14, I am unable to ue the keyboard and touchpad at the same time, which becomes a problem when doing things such as playing games. I have the Elan Smart-Pad, and even after going onto the settings for this and changing Palm Tracking to minimum, the problem still persists. Is there a way I can change this?

I have an equium a100-027 and today the touchpad was going funny.
For example, I went to move it, and sometimes it either wouldn't move, moved very little, or when it moved it quickly moved back to around the same spot it was at before.

I assumed maybe this was just that my computer was using too much memory or something. However then later on it stopped responding. I restarted my computer and same problem, it's not moving.

Before anyone suggests it, I have indeed checked all the settings for it. I know there is a hotkey (fn + f9) to disable it.
However I have already checked and it is enabled.
I'm quickly falling out with this computer, six months old and already had two issues with it.

Can anyone suggest any way to fix this, or does it have to be sent back to be repaired?

If it has to be sent back, how do I do this?
I bought it from Dixons, and when I went down to them with my last issue they said they took no responsibility and I had to call "the tech guys".

This ended up being a 1.50 premium rate tech support number, which I am not phoning again.
This laptop is only 6 months old, clearly under warranty. I should not have to pay who knows how much on a phone call just to get it repaired.

Sorry if this sounds like a rant, just in a bad mood with this computer at the minute.
Thanks for any help! =-)

Answer:Equium A100-027 touchpad stopped responding

Hi

I see you are desperate. Sorry to hear this story.
But before you will send this notebook to any service point, you should reinstall the notebook with the Toshiba recovery CD.

This procedure will set the notebook to the factory settings!

If the touchpad will not work after the new reinstallation then contact the ASP in your country.
The authorized service provider in your country will be able to help you and if your warranty is valid everything should be done for free.

I cannot believe that the call could cost about ?1.5 because it?s a common phone number.

If you want to find the ASP please check this:

I tried to reinstall the drivers (back to previous version, then new update). Well all my attemps failed.
Any iddea? (maybe a hardware issue?)

Hello, looks like i found the solution! I recently came across another post in this forum, where the user had reported his g5050 showing similar symptoms like mine. A lenovo admin had suggested that it might be due to excess charge stored on the laptop, causing the whole f the keyboard and the touchpad to act like its loosely connected. Solution:As soon as i find my laptop fully charged, immediatley i took off the power plug going into the laptop! And now, its all working fine!

I have a LeNovo Flex 3 1480 [80R3] for about a year with zero problems. The only modded thing is a Sandisk 480gb SSD drive, with a Windows 10 installation from scratch, installed in the very first day I bought this machine. I was running Windows 10 version 1607 normally, and really enjoying this machine, but since last week when I was booting up, the machine freezed at bootscreen (the one with the lenovo logo) and then restarted showing the message "Preparing Automatic Repair" that took almost a whole day to pass. The repair never happened and I had to use the option to reset windows maintaining my personal files. After this everytime I boot up, windows 10 take up to 10 minutes to boot, and my keyboard and touchpad won't work, leaving me with only the touchscreen option. I've been through a lot of different solutions attempts:- Upgraded BIOS to the latest version (Lenovo colored logo at bootscreen)- Uninstalled KB and Touchpad drivers manually and reinstalled with Lenovo provided drivers, and also repeated the procedure with Windows Update drivers.- Disabled the fast startup option- Done the 15s procedure with the power button- Deattached the battery plug for some minutes and reattached- Checked (unplug and replug) both KB and Touchpad flatwires- Reinstalled the latest Windows 10 version 1703 from scratch None of the solution mentioned above worked for me. KB works perfectly in BIOS, and even when booting up I can change de backlight settings usi... [SOLVED] KEYBOARD OR MOUSE OR CD-ROM DRIVE NO LONGER RESPONDING AFTER BOOT
Error:
?Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) {Unable to Load Device Driver}
%hs device driver could not be loaded. Error Status was 0x%x?

SECTION 1. Symptoms

When you start your computer, you notice (with a lot of frustration) that the keyboard or the mouse or the CD-ROM drive or maybe the audio device stopped responding. And that happened for no apparent reason.

If you can access the Device Manager, you see a yellow triangle on the device name.
If you try to update the driver, disable, re-enable, uninstall/reinstall the driver, nothing works.

If you restart the system from a boot DVD, you get into the WinPE (Windows Preinstallation Environment - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), which is a sort of basic Windows allowing you to perform simple operations, such as re-starting in Safe Mode or repairing the system. Funnily, the keyboard, the mouse or the CD-ROM will work in this environment. Once you want to load the full system normally, you see that the symptoms persist.

SECTION 2. Virtual Keyboard and Virtual Mouse

To try the solutions presented here, you must have at least either the keyboard or the mouse working. If neither works, there still is hope.

If neither works, it probably means they are both on USB ports and the ?Human Interface Devices/USB Input Device? series are probably the faulty drivers. Anothe... Read more

I replaced these 3 files with the correct ones-it worked. I made system checks with three virus and antimalware programs: All clean. Yesterday the problem occures again! I have just a few shareware programs on the computer-all other softwase is original microsoft software. One of them is photofiltre. Hi There
My laptops keyboard has stopped responding. I can not log in, if i put the restore disk in and press "C" as instructed it comes up with the Bios setup and I can not move through the options with the arrows. On the login screen at boot i can right click on the password box and it displays Unincode options none are ticked? and ideas please!!

Answer:Equium M40X - keyboard has stopped responding

Hi

I assume you want to boot up from the drive?
By pressing the F2 immediately after notebook starting you should be able to enter the BIOS!
There you should be able to change the booting order.

But if you keyboard running crazy I would recommend to connect a external one and to test it.
But I think if the keyboard problem persists and you will be not able to use it so you have to replace the internal keyboard.

On my friends Tecra the cursor jumped around and it was not able to use the keyboard.
The end of story he has replaced the keyboards and everything was ok.

Answer:The keyboard and the TouchPad stopped working!

Hi, Rabbitvix

I haven't experienced this issue, but the fact that the keyboard works in BIOS but not in the OS indicates a software issue, not hardware. I would recommend booting the machine in Safe Mode to see if this helps. If the TouchPad and the keyboard resume functioning in Safe Mode, then we may be able to solve this issue by removing a driver.

To boot into Safe Mode in Windows Vista:

Start the computer from cold boot.
When the splash screen appears (says "Lenovo) being tapping F8 repeatedly.
Continue tapping F8 until a menu appears.
Select Safe Mode.
Hit Enter.
The computer should now boot to Safe Mode.

Also, one final question: If you plug in an external mouse, does this function well, or does it experience problems as well?

Best of luck,
Adam

Hi

My netbook is a Samsung n145plus and has 8.1 installed with all updates. (even if it's not officially supported but it works amazingly fine)

I've installed the officia Samsung Elan touchpad driver as it seemed to work fine (it's for Win 7) except when scrolling with the edge of the pad because a Elan window appears on the taskbar and was annoying so I installed a newer driver but for a gateway laptop it installed fine but it wasn't detected by Elan in control panel so I removed it.

Now both the keyboard and touchpad stopped working and Windows says code 19 for keyboard and code 10 for touchpad. A USB mouse works fine. I've reinstalled both with Device Manager without success. Now the netbook is almost useless
Thanks

i have read about similar problems on here but none of the solutions worked for me. the keyboard seems to work just fine until the "starting windows" screen appears then absolutely nothing. i've tried reinstalling the alps pointing device drivers, i uninstalled then installed the newer version, nothing seems to work. the computer was working just fine until i came home from work and turned it on. this same problem happend about 2 months ago and it magically fixed it self, i just never turned the computer off again. i have 2 identical sony vaio VPC-EB33FM/BJ models, and have compared all the drivers and settings, they are the exact same (except the newer version of Alps on the broken one). i ran one of those "scan for new drivers" programs that ask for money to update drivers that it says are old and it said that the HID keyboard device driver is way out of date along with several others, but once again they are the same as the ones on the computer i am using now and this one works like a champ. anyone have any ideas? would be truely grateful for all input, thank you.

I have a just over one year old (~14 months) Dell Inspiron 17 laptop with Win 8.1 (no touch) and of course it's out of warranty. The mouse simply stopped working, no cursor. I was able to use the touchpad but then that quit too in quick order.
I spent hours searching here and the interweb looking for possible fixes, so far no luck.
The worst of the issue is now I can't get past the splash screen to the login screen to access the repair/restore functions in Windows.
How do I access these when I can't even login to the computer?

What should I do because you know even I cant enter the windows to uninstall that driver.

Any way to do it while windows starting up?

Answer:Satellite A300-243 - Keyboard and touchpad stopped working

Hello

Why you installed a driver for external keyboard? I never heard about such drivers?

Anyway, you should try to boot in safe mode and then you are able to remove external keyboard driver from software list. After restarting in normal mode, the touchpad and keyboard should work properly again.

Ok here is the story that is toying with my mental health...

I consider myself to have a fair knowledge of Windows Oss, since i've been using/tweaking them for the past 13 years. I recently decided, after getting some incentives from the fact I had a Linux pc at work, to install on my Acer Aspire 5672 laptop, Ubuntu, and switch from a dual-boot Windows XP SP3/WIndows Vista SP1 system to a Windows XP SP3/Ubuntu one. Everything is fine for a while, I upgrade from Ubuntu 8.04, to Ubuntu 8.10 and a couple of weeks pass where I was messing up linux while learning. So at one point I decide to reinstal Ubuntu.

I am saying all of the above not to necessarily link the events that led to what you will read next, but to create a timeline...the events can as well be completely irrelevant to each other.

I reinstall Ubuntu 8.10, do all the updates and finally when all is set and done, I decide to boot in Windows. Curiously enough GRUB was not touched from the whole reinstallation process. Hello Guys

My Keyboard & touchpad stopped working today.
Its a Satellite L750D Part # PSK36A-009008 Serial # 7B339221W

I've tried a restore to a earlier date

Can anyone help
PLEASE.

Answer:Satellite L750D - Keyboard & touchpad stopped working

Sounds like hardware problem.
Try to set the notebook back to factory settings. I guess you would need to use an external USB keyboard in case the internal keyboard does not work.

Here an instruction how to perform a System Recovery?

Forgive me if this is in the wrong area.
I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop. It kept prompting me to upgrade to Windows 10, so I did so.
Now the button that disables my touchpad (also the F5 button) is not working.
The touchpad will not turn off.

Secondly, when I try to move the cursor, the "right click" menu pops up wherever the cursor lands, and it will not let me type. I have to use an external mouse to click out of the menu, then put the cursor back where I wanted it to land.

How can I make the disable button on my keyboard work again, and how can I fix the mouse so that the right click menu only comes up if I actually right click?

Thank you!

Hi,
My neighbours computer is an Acer Aspire 6920G that is 9 months old, it has just come back from the store she brought it at and still has the same issue.
It runs Vista Home Premium, which I am not familiar with.
The machine boots fine, but does not recognise the keyboard, touchpad, and now has no sound drivers or options.
The machine was not sold with a Vista disc, just a generic recovery disc that does not allow me to use the SFC /scannow or repair console.
I am familiar with XP to intermediate, but never used Vista before.

Can anyone please help

I have had this notebook for a few years and it has performed well. Today however I brought it out of hibernation mode, and it beeped. The keyboard and touchpad were not working. I restarted the computer and it beeped as it was loading, giving a message that said "Keyboard not detected." Once windows booted up, same problem. I shut down and restarted, same problem. I then unplugged everything, took the battery out, put it back together, and now it works fine. I'm a little concerned about this. Is this an indication of a possible hardware failure, or could something else more innocuous be causing it? Thanks in advance!

I was playing a video game on my laptop around 4:30, when the keyboard suddenly stopped working. The mouse still functioned, so I tried clicking around to see if it was just a problem with the game. Then at 4:32, the mouse stopped working, too. I decided to try turning it off, but neither holding nor pressing the power button worked, so I unplugged the laptop from the charger and left it to run out of power on it's own. At 4:35, the display froze. I know this, because up until then the clock was still working. Currently, the vent fan is still running, and the screen is frozen. No keyboard buttons work, and neither the built-in trackpad nor an HDMI mouse is working.  Is there anything I can do to fix this, or do I need to send it in?The laptop was a brand new Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series, with Nvidia GeForce GTX and an Intel Core i7.

Hi, I have a Lenovo Flex 2 14 which came with a British keyboard but I noticed you can take off the keyboard and swap it out for another one - you can find backlit versions, or a version with a different layout. I got a keyboard for it with Japanese hiragana on it, but the laptop doesn't seem to recognise any of the extra keys this keyboard comes with which have key codes not used by other languages. These keys include: | -? \ ??????the ????, ???? and ???? toggleI would have assumed this was to do with the fact that these are keys from a 106/109 key layout as opposed to the standard 102 key, so I replaced the keyboard driver with Microsoft's 106/109 key keyboard driver, but that hasn't had any effect - it still can't see these keys being pressed. The ??/?? ?? key works because it uses the same key code as the tilde on other keyboards, but that's all. My hypothesis for why this might not be possible to fix is that the ribbon connection between the keyboard and the motherboard could only support 102-key layouts in Europe, and therefore the only way to be able to use these extra input conversion keys without a different motherboard altogether would be to use an external USB keyboard. I may have just made up what I said about the motherboard though, so does anyone know if there's a driver I can use to solve this problem and be able to use the extra keys? I can't just use a key mapper like KeyTweak ... Hi,As i am using my touchpad on my new lenovo flex 2 15 laptop - when i am moving the mouse point around and pressing either of the buttons then i can find it accidently increases the page size?  This is happening often and its because you can increase your page size by putting 2 fingers on the touch pad and moving them apart. Its quite frustrating and i would like to disable this feature from the touchpad.   Anyone know how to to this?  If i need to increase the page size i am happy doing this from the browser settings itself. ThanksStephen

Answer:Flex 2: 15 Touchpad

hi bottymilk,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Try going under Control Panel / Programs and Features / Uninstall a program

Try looking for either Synaptics, Eigistech or Elan software and Uninstall it.

This controls the Touchpad features.

Try the touchpad again after uninstallation.

Hope this helps
Cheers!

Question: flex 3 touchpad

I am new to Lenovo Community, and to Lenovo products. I just bought my first Lenovo laptop Flex 3, 11'', with Windows 10. My first experience using it is not positive, and the most frustrating part is the touchpad. It seems to have a life of its own. For example, very often when I scroll it suddenly starts to change the font sizes (it starts to zoom in or to zoom out, making letters either too big or to small to read). At other times it suddenly becomes "frozen", that is, completely unresponsive to my moves. Not only I cannot scroll the page I'm working on, but I cannot even get out of it.I wonder if there's something wrong with my particular laptop, or if Flex 3 has issues with touchpad in general?Thank you to anyone who cares to answer my question.

I got the Ideapad FLex 15 at costco less than 90 days ago and have had trouble the whole time with the USB ports not responding to my portable devices (phones) not even my windows phone. This is really frustrating because my music files are on my old iphone because my last computer crashed and this one doesn't have a disc drive.  Anyhow, my question is is this a common issue? Should I just return it? I have trouble shooted it for quite a while, and while the portable devices will charge while attached the computer doesn't recognize them and at some points it says that the port is having power issuses. I am still able to return but I guess my real question is should I exchange it for the same model or should I just skip it and get a totally different computer? The computer is too new for me to feel like the trouble of going through the warrantee labrynth could be worthwhile.

Hi all, I primarily use a mouse while on my Flex 3, and have to turn off the touchpad every time I power on my PC. Then, at random intervals it turns on by itself, even when I'm not touching the comupter. Do you know why this might be happening? How can I turn it off and make it stay off? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I recently updated to the latest November update and afterwards installed Office 2016. Ever since the touchpad has been behaving funny. It clicks on icons u don't wanna open, launch program unexpectedly, if u wanna click on something it jumps and dances here and there. Its really infuriating particularly if u need to get things done urgently. I uninstalled the ALPS Touchpad and seemed to work for about 2 days and trouble started again. It has even become worse after the PC automatically downloaded and installed the ALPS Touchpad again. Please I need your help thank you.

I have a Flex 3 laptop computer running Windows 10.  I have the ELAN Touchpad driver configured so that tapping is disabled, and the driver icon is visible in the taskbar. Quite frequently, the tourchpad reverts to its default settings and the driver icon disappears from the task bar.  If I go into settings and open the mouse / touchpad settings, everything starts working again (with out me changing any of the settings). This is driving me CRAZY.  How can I stop this from happening?

Hello I have recently purchased a Flex 15 with the Elan touchpad. I have noticed that I do not have an option to two finger tap for a right click. The settings for the Elan Touchpad provide me a way to two finger click (where i physically click the touchpad) but not for the 2 finger tap. This seems like a weird oversight since that functionality is so very common now for all laptops. Does anyone else have this issue? is there a way to get this functionality back?

Hi lenovo friends, I recently bought a Flex 2 14 (not sure if D) (59423165). Firstly, can anyone link me to the correct drivers page for W8.1x64? Thank you! Here are my questions: 1) Is there middle-click functionality for the touchpad? I cannot seem to find a way to middle-click. Does anyone know of third-party programs that will restore this functionality if the Flex 2 14 doesn't already come with it? 2) I am not achieving USB 3 speeds on the USB 3 port. I have a USB 3 flash drive that works perfectly on my desktop (achieving up to 120 MB/s), but I only achieve 30 MB/s on the Flex 2 14's USB 3 port. I am guessing that I do not have the driver installed. Can anyone help me find the correct drive? Thanks in advance, Chris

Note, I have already tried the following: -the F6 key does not disable touchpad, as manual says it should;-checking "disable when mouse connected" in control panel does nothing;-uninstalling ELAN touchpad driver w/o deleting driver does nothing;-uninstalling ELAN touchpad driver AND deleting driver does nothing; I get message to reboot computer, and I do that, but the driver refuses to be deleted; its always there again;-I've updated ELAN driver so that it is most current available, per Lenovo and Elan sites. Other oddities, like the windows screen saver/timeout feature does not work, either.

Answer:Flex 2 15 proxy server isn't responding Network Problem

vagabond8400, Welcome to Lenovo Forums ! Thank you for taking the time to post your inquiry. I can see that you do have an issue on the "proxy server isn't responding". Based on the situation that you have I IE app on the metro screen (start) page is the problem. What we can do is to use IE on the metro screen (start) page uncheck the use proxy server on IE LAN settings and let us try to optimize your IE. But First we need to check the version of your IE 11 Solution 1. Check the version on IE 11  * On IE click on tools > about Internet Explorer you can see the version of your IE like the attachment below : Note the updated version is 11.0.15 check this Link.   Solution 2. Optimize your IE 11 by clicking on this Link. * Note if this will not work for you the issue is a "Malware" that is lurking on your computer  Solution 3. Doing a Scan by clicking on this Link. * you can also use 3rd Party scanning software such as Malwarebytes Link   or  HitmanPro : Link. I hope that this can get you squared away. Please let me know if the above solution will work for you  Thanks

My friend just received a Flex 2 14 less than a week ago and its touchpad is detaching from the wrist rest and curling at the corners.  Has anyone else experienced this with the Flex 2?

My friend has contacted Lenovo tech support, but the options are not appealing.  A replacement would take weeks and would require re-installing and configuring the software again.  Also, I think the current unit would have to be sent back first, so she would be without a laptop during that time.

If anyone has experience with Lenovo repairs and/or replacements, we would appreciate your recommendations.

Thanks

Without any particular event (Windows 10, Ideapad Flex 14), these things happend

touchpad cursor control stopped working, but cursor works fine with USB mouse
Synaptics control 'Accessories' work fine : Presssure Graph and Mood Pad
graphical volume control appeared in upper right
volume is constantly driven to zero ... cannot get sound without constantly clicking on volume level, or hitting Volume up key (F3)
Volume down (F2) and Sound toggle (F1) now do nothing

I can hold down Volume up (F3) and get volume to work, but it must be held down continuously to hear anything played on the speakers.

it looks like some event from either Volume down or Sound toggle is running continuously, and those events prevent the touchpad cursor control from working.

The laptop is barely functional in this condition .. must have USB mouse connected, and playback of any sound

I have sprayed clean dry air around the keys .. it seems unlikely that any debris is stuck in the key, but it almost seems like one of the two keys (volume down or less likely sound toggle) is being continuously pressed.

I would be quite happy to have the key disabled through software .. I havae never used it.

Any help would be so generous from the community, and so gratefully appreciated!

In just 2 days of laptop usage, the mouse pad has come out. The amazing service center in India (ticket no. HT014716010) said that the glue that held mousepad to the laptop "WASN'T STICKY ENOUGH" and added that they do not support this laptop as its "international warranty" is limited to US and China and I need to take it to your US service center to fix it. $619 laptop, 2 days, and it is nothing more than a junk box to me. As a birthday present I have gifted my father nothing more than added tension and thanks to you guys for making that happen. Attaching a pic for your reference. ?

Hi, I recently upgraded to Windows 10 on my Flex 15 and am finding that my Synaptics touchpad crashes randomly. Specifically, I'm going about doing my thing when I see a brief "spinny wheel" for the mouse pointer, and then suddenly cant scroll using two-fingered touch as normal on the touchpad. The pointer often (but doesn't always) still appear and the touch pad can still move the mouse and single-click only, but none of the special  actions (like two fingered scrolling) can be performed. I also notice that the "Lenovo Pointing Device" icon which normally displays in the notification area in the lower righthand corner disappears when this happens. I'm specifically using Lenovo Pointing Device v 19.0.9.5.29May15. Any tips? Thanks in advance!

Answer:Flex 15 Synaptics Touchpad Crashing on Windows 10

Still having the problem. It specifically happens when I launch "calculator" (a metro app) which is pinned to my taskbar. It doesn't happen otherwise. Any thoughts?

After updating to Windows 10 I started experiencing touchpad delay for about a second after I press any keyboard key. When I downgraded my drivers it started working prefectly with no delay, but I was unable to use 3 finger gestures introduced with Windows 10 and also there were no 3 finger swipe to go backwards that I was using in Windows 8.1.I thought that maybe this is caused by palm tracking feature, but when I set it to minimum the problem was still there. Also I tried installing and uninstalling drivers and touchpad from device manager. Also changed "delay after type" in Windows setting to never. None of the above helped. I'm sure that my touchpad detects all the touches and it's not a hardware issue, cause when I open notification tray and make a tap with three fingers I see three dots appear on elan settings icon.P.S. The strangest thing is that when I start typing in search box then make a pause and start typing again it works without any delay and I can type and use my touchpad at the same time. Cortana is the only program where I could make it work so far.

Answer:Touchpad delay after typing Windows 10 on Flex-2

I'm seeing this exact issue after updating to Win 10 and then updating to the latest drivers for the ELAN touchpad. I've reduced palm rejection, selected "No Delay" in the main mouse settings and I'm still getting this issue.  It is really, really frustrating!!!

I just bought a flex 2 15, which I settled on because I wanted to buy from a brick and mortar store so I can return easily if I Dont like it. I'm slightly concerned with the amount of flex in the keyboard even with light typing. As I plan on using this for school, and a lot of typing, is this am issue I should consider returning it for? Thank you in advance for any advice!

Answer:Flex 2 15 keyboard flex

hi eod_mickelson,

Welcome to the Forums.

I haven't seen anyone reported any issue about the keyboard being mushy when being pressed but there were reports about the keyboard suddenly not working from the thread below:

Flex 2 15 Keyboard problems

Although the keyboard being disabled is a normal feature on this machine while on tent mode, I don't think this will cause a problem in the wrong run (unless you feel uncomfortable with the mushy feeling while typing)

More info on the keyboard in this review.

Does anyone know how to disable the pinch zoom feature on Lenovo Flex 2 running Windows 8.1?

Answer:How to disable pinch zoom on Lenovo Flex 2 touchpad?

Go to Control Panel.
Do you have something called "Pen and Touch" settings?
If yes, then you should be able to change certain features from this menu. (not sure about zoom)

I have recently bought this model and having a problem with the touchpad. Instead of scrolling it will randomly cause the page to zoom in or out. Which is getting rather irritating. Could someone please tell me how I can disable this function. Many thanksModerator edit: Matched subject to content

Answer:Lenovo Flex 2 14 touchpad random zoom problem

I'm having this issue as well except on my Yoga 2 Pro. I have the pinch to zoom feature disabled (which is frustrating since it's a useful feature). Usually it zooms in when scrolling down, often to percentages between 800 and 900% view.

First of all, in spite of the timing of this post (posting the same day that the update is becoming available for most people), this isn't Windows 10.1/115 (I forget the update's nickname) related (this computer hasn't updated yet). A few days ago, the trackpad stopped working. (It worked fine for about 3 months with Windows 10, and roughly a year with Windows 8.1)

I tried the device manager "uninstall device" thing, which often works. In this case, however, detect hardware did not detect the trackpad after uninstalling.
I've tried all drivers I can find, including the latest driver per Lenovo's website (plus the one Windows update installs, ironically newer than Lenovo's website
I've tried uninstalling the program, but it doesn't lead to any success after reinstalling later
The device does list itself in the trackpad/mouse properties panel in the systray, I don't know if that means it's being detected somewhere, or if it's because the driver is installed. It's an Alps pointing device, 8.201.1611.249
In System Information, then Components, then Problem Devices, the pointing devise shows up, as "Lenovo pointing device", with message "This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed."
On this device, the F6 key is the one that activates/deactivates the trackpad normally, but nothing happens, no feedback, and no magical fix. For comp... Read more

Dear Support,
I have a Dell VOSTRO 3560 laptop that has an Elan Tech SmartPad touchpad. I like its responsiveness very much.
Unfortunately, I recently spilled a bit of coffee and some of that went under the touch pad left and right buttons. The buttons stopped functioning but the touch pad itself is still very good.
Even before the spill I rarely used the buttons. I always used the touch pad to tap to click and two finger tap to right-click.Strangely though, after the spill when the hardware buttons stopped working, the tapping on the touch pad also stopped working. I made sure that the touch pad still can do tap clicking by uninstalling the Dell TouchPad driver and reverting to the Microsoft Mouse PS2 driver. In that case I can use the tap to click feature but only for 1 finger tap. I do not get any other feature as the driver is the simple generic MS one.
My question is would it be possible to still use the Elan tech provided (Dell TouchPad) driver and somehow configure it to accept the tap to click and two finger tap to right-click? This in addition to all the remaining scrolling and gesture support that the driver implements? I tried all the Dell Touchpad settings applet but nothing changed. Perhaps a registry value setting in the section for the elantech?
What seems to be happening now is that the driver is doing some hardware diagnostics, determining that the hardware buttons left and right are not working, and consequently completely disabling left and right click comm... Read more

Since lately my FLEX 2 Pro (15) camera no longer works when I use Skype; it doesn't appear in the relevant devices list. How can I check the camera's OK and get it working again please?

Answer:FLEX 2 Pro camea has stopped working

hi EricDeeson,

If you're running on Wni8.1 / Win10, can you press the Windows Key+R then devmgmt.msc then hit Enter to open Device Manager. On the list of devices, check if you have an Imaging Devices --> Lenovo Easy Camera on similar entry.
  - Samlpe image

If the Camera is there but it has an exclamation mark, try the following:
1. Reinstalling the Camera Driver from the D:\Drivers folder or from the Flex 2 Pro drivers page then reboot.
2. After rebooting, check the Device Manager --> Imaging Devices entry and if the Camera device doesn't show any exclamation mark anymore, open SKype or a webcam testing website (like this one) and see if the Camera is now working.

If the Camera is not detected  try to:
1. Boot into the BIOS by tapping F2 during boot-up. In the BIOS, hit F9 to load default settings then hit F10 to save and exit.
2. When Windows boots up, check if the Camera is now detected under Device Manager --> Imaging Devices  try try opening Skype or other apps that uses the Camera.

If all the above steps doesn't work then there's likely a problem with the camera and I recommend you contact the lenovo helpdesk and report the problem.

Hello Everyone,

My problem started after updating windows 8.1 to windows 10, of course!
First the touchpad just stopped working, for no reason.

My solution was to uninstall the drive and restart the laptop. And from time to time I had to do this proceed. Two weeks ago windows updated, and the touchpad issue's gone. . Unfortunately, another one appeared.

The feature "mousekey", which is turn it on at ease access to use the numeric keys to use them as a mouse, It's turning itself on. And doesn't matter how many times I turn it off, few seconds and it's on again.

I've tried uninstalling the drive, which after windows the last updating was "ELAN".

Then I replaced by the Toshiba drivers, which is "Synaptic", and uninstalled the drives ,the problem is the same. Because of that, I can't use my numeric key, which is annoying!! If anyone can come up with something I will be grateful.

My laptop has been performing fabulously since I bought it a little under a month ago. Two weeks ago, one of the usb 3.0 ports on the right side (not the "always on" one) stopped working. If I plug my phone into it, it begins to charge but does not show up on windows. If I plug in my external hard drive, it powers up, but also is not recognized. If I plug in a flash drive with a light, it does not light up and is not recognized. I updated the BIOS (didn't work), tried to update the usb drivers that were installed (didn't work) and then tried uninstalling the drivers in device manager, rebooting and allowing windows to automatically reinstall them (didn't work). The other 2 usb ports work fine, one is 2.0 and the other is 3.0. Any thoughts on what to try next? I may just return it since the place I bought it from will still take it back.

Answer:Flex 3-1580, one USB 3.0 port stopped working

I have that problem also. Device Manager indicates unknown drivers for these usb ports. I uninstall them and when it reboots the OS does not pick them up. The system worked fine for a month also and then this happened...I will try next to recover back to original factory settings, but I am not confident that it will fix it or that it will not happen again. I think lenovo quality assurance is poorer than other companies...

Hi, I hope you're doing well. I recently upgraded my Lenovo Flex 2 (15 inch) notebook from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. After upgrading, the right click button on my touchpad stopped working. Suspecting a driver issue, I uninstalled the driver to allow the default Windows driver to take over. The right-click button started to work again, so it's not a hardware problem. However, the touchpad, in general, became erratic and difficult to use. I then downloaded the latest Lenovo Flex 2 touchpad driver for Windows 10. However, the touchpad returned to the way it was after the upgrade and the right-click button does not work. Please help me with this. I need my laptop to function properly during my travels. Kind regards, Ash

Answer:Lenovo Flex 2 - Upgrading to Windows 10 Disables Right-Click Button on Touchpad

Since nobody in the Lenovo community answered this, and Customer Support refuses to provide support for their own drivers (without charging you $70 for Premium Support), I will post the solution that I found on my own, so that other innocent customers can be helped. Uninstall the touchpad driver from Programs & Features, then download Windows 8.1 version of the touchpad driver (Bay) from the Lenovo Flex 2 drivers page. Install it and it will work perfectly on Windows 10 (unlike the Windows 10 driver). Enjoy. Ash

The touchscreen on my Flex 15 stopped working. I am not sure exactly when, but in the last few months.  I am already on Win10, and it has worked fine since the Win10 upgrade over a year ago.  In Device Manager, I can see the HID Touch Screen entry.  I tried uninstalling and deleting it, followed by a restart.  Reinstalled itself on start-up, but no joy.  It claims to be working.   I have seen other similar posts saying to delete entries under Mice... but I don't see any Touch Screen entries there.Interestingly, I see most of the drivers have Event dates of 2-Jul 2017, saying "Device migrated". I am suspecting some delightful Micorsoft "improvement" on that date may have been the cuplrit, but I also feel like the touch screen may have been working after that date.  Unfortunately, I don't use the touch screen very often, but I DO need it now and then. Thoughts?

I'm setting up a new system and have installed Windows 8.1 and the ProPack for Windows  8.1 Professional.  There is now two devices in Device Manager that aren't starting.    The Auto-Rotate feature of this tablet/laptop is no longer working either. I've read through enough of this forum to find an answer and can't locate one.  Someone mentioned uninstalling a device driver and  that worked.. Which one? I have Other Device/Unknown device and IWD Bus Enumerator not starting in Device Manager.. Any real support techs out here that can help with this problem?   ThanksBryan

Answer:Auto-rotate stopped working. Ideapad Flex 15

Check http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page? for driver updates. Make sure your drivers are up to date. Also check if you haven't accidentally pressed the rotation lock button on the side.
