Dell XPS 9560 Screen - left side cooler and right side warmer

Question: Dell XPS 9560 Screen - left side cooler and right side warmer

Hi,
I recently bought my Dell XPS 9560. My dell xps screen appears cooler on the left side and slightly warmer on the right side. It is not noticeable in any color but when I visit websites with a white background like google, I can notice that the right side is slightly warmer (yellowish) which is distracting. Any idea on how should I proceed with the issue?
Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Dell XPS 9560 Screen - left side cooler and right side warmer

If "recently" is less than 21 days from shipment and from Dell directly, the best option is to contact customer support and have the system replaced.
If it's more than 21 days from shipment, the warranty will cover the display replacement, which is the only solution -- though if the system is new enough, you're better off having it replaced than repaired.

I just noticed that the track pad on my Dell XPS 15 9560 has a noticeable height difference between left and right side. Could this be start of a swollen battery?
I use the laptop for work every day and have not noticed this before.
Edit:
Noticed the top edge on the right side is also has a noticeable edge now. But still not as bad as the pictures i have seen online.

Got a Toshiba Satellite A500-138 and it get's warmer in the left side of the touchpad.

Can some help me?

Answer:Satellite A500-138 - Warmer on the left side of the touchpad

Hi atmo,

Well, I think some certain areas on the notebook are always a little bit warmer than other areas. I think it?s depending on the hardware parts where the cooling module is and CPU, graphic card and chipset are located.

Do you have any problems? Does it power off without warning?

What you can do is trying to clean the cooling system using compressed air spray. This can blow out the dust from cooling ventilators:

Has anyone seen this before?
This seems to be happening more and more, I am using my PC (with Windows 8 Pro) as an HTPC and its connected via HDMI to a plasma TV so the PC is always on. Sometimes, when I go to use the pc I turn the TV on and then move the mouse around to turn the display on and I see the attached image, it looks as though the screen has shifted to the right and wrapped around to the other side.
I ran windows 7 with the same hardware on this setup for years without an issue. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Answer:Left side of screen rolled to right side of monitor..

Did you ever get any sulution for this problem ?

I have the same problem with my windows 7 ultimate, tried everything now, the last step i'm testing now is an older driver.

My brand new XPS 15 9560 4k screen is extremely red tinged on the right side.
This is a single camera shot with the middle cut out, so left and right sides next to each other. This should be the same white yet the right side is MUCH pinker than the other.
I sent this to Dell support in germany and their answer? 'Within normal parameters'
Incredible that a machine which is supposed to feature the screen as a major selling point does not qualify for a RMA with such a massive discrepancy. Otherwise I quite like the laptop but I can't work with this. Will be sending this back.

Answer:XPS 15 9560 4k has terrible color shift on one side. Dell will not fix.

Remember that systems purchased from Dell carry a 21-day satisfaction guarantee.  You can return a system for replacement or refund for any reason during that time.
You may be responsible for shipping/restocking fees, but if you're not happy with the system, it's a lot less expensive than living with a system you don't like.

When I insert a flash drive into one of the dead ports, initially the message pops up indicating that the computer recognizes something has been inserted into the port, but then it immediately disappears and the port is dead. I went to Device Manger-->Portable Devices and tried to fix one of the three dead ports. At some point (after I scanned for hardware changes, I think) it did show the drive letter, but it had a yellow triangular error-message  indicator. I right-clicked and selected Properties, and it said "This device cannot start (code 10)." Then the drive letter disappeared, though it has come back sporadically. I hope this is clear. Would appreciate any ideas. Thanks. Jane Doe

Answer:E545--USB ports on left side of computer all died at once, but port on right side is still working

I also noticed this problem. Only the USB port nearest the rear is working. Even when I boot into the BIOS with a USB drive attached, only that port enumerates anything.

Model:  HP Pavilion m6 Notebook PC 15".   Laptop used minimally and still in beautiful shape other than these noted issues:  Left hinge is broken away from plastic casing (see pic) and Right hinge is broken away from lid plastic (see pic).   From what I'm reading, it seems the plastic base, chassis, and possibly lid base and hinge need replaced.  Please let me know what HP is offering as far as replacement parts and repair.  This seems to be an ongoing issue with HP notebooks.  I've purchased a total of three HP notebook/laptops over the past four years so I'm very concerned about these issues and why HP has allowed it to continue for so long and across so many different models.  It seems to me the plastic used in making these parts does not have the tensile strength required in notebook/laptop use.  I would think this issue would've been corrected years ago and not have continued.  Please advise.  I do love all my HP laptops other than these issues.   Thank you.

After I reinstalled Windows XP Home on a P4 2.4 G computer and checked Quick Launch in Taskbar & Start Menu Properties, I double clicked the Quick Launch divider in error, and Quick Launch displayed on the second row of the Taskbar.  I was finally able to get Quick Launch on a single row of the Taskbar.  However, it is now on the right side of the Taskbar, and I have not been able to move it to the traditional left side.  While it does not create an operational problem, I am accustomed to Quick Launch being on the left.  Quick Launch is not locked.  How can I get it back to the left side of the Taskbar, with open programs showing on the right?

Answer:Move Quick Launch From Right Side To Left Side Of Taskbar

Click and drag the divider, that should move the toolbar about.Just drag it to its normal position. It works for me, anyway.Hope this helps.

Hi, I have a CTL 17" LCD monitor. This morning I turned on my pc and found that the left side of my monitor is darker than the right side. Any idea as to what the problem could possibly be?

Answer:My monitor is brighter on the right side than on the left side

I don't know which orientation the tubes have, but if it is vertical, the tubes on the left may be on their way out. Most LCD monitors unless specifically advertised otherwise (ie - LED) use fluorescent tubes for the backlight.

So, I'd say it is on its way out and there is nothing you can do to fix it short of just replacing it. The left side may brighten to normal after being on several minutes/hours. Did you notice if that happened the longer you had it on?

Hello community members, I have recenenty purchased a new laptop L470 (Processor: 1x Intel Core i5-7200U Processor(Core i5-7200U): : Memory: 1x : : Operating System: Free-DOS(): : Hard Drive: 1x 1TB 5400). I have just made one change by adding 8GB DDR4 - 2133Mhz in factory built unit. While typing, I feel that right hand side (just below the keyboard where my palm resides) of laptop is warmer as compared to the left hand side. Shall I report this to Lenovo and get it checked or it's normal. The difference in hotness is noticable but not uncomfortabe. May be, it will become uncomfortable if I use it for extended use. Thanks you very much for your attension. Regards,Munendra

Very frustrated with this...I opened the laptop gently as I would always do  and the hinge on the left side of the laptop just snapped and popped out of the plastic monitor frame.  The design of the hinges are just terrible and i can now see how they work because the case has been damaged just from opening and closing the laptop.  I can now see inside the whole left side of the case.  To top it off I have already invested considerable time into upgrading the OS to Windows 10 and customizing and installing software on this laptop. I cannot close my laptop entirely since the screen closes on an incorrect angle. Since I am out of warranty, is there any way to fix this problem? After reading several posts, it seems to be a common problem with the envy models.

Has anyone else seen this problem.   I've had two laptops and nearly 14 months (4 months after warranty expiration), the left hinge plastic bezel has cracked.  I suspect this is a universal problem as I've met with other laptop owners who have experienced the same thing at nearly the same time....just after warranty expiration.
I know that in nearly all manufacturers of laptops that this is occurring and oddly nearly all are the left hinge bezel/plastic.  HP customers, I believe, have launched a class action lawsuit.

Is there a class action lawsuit against Dell for this same problem?  It sounds like all manufacturers are getting their laptop hinge bezels from the same place. This is a problem that Dell needs to address...immediately.

Help,

I just purchased a new puter with windows 7. However the left side of the screen is cut off and I can't get to the windows there. How do i change the size or resolution of the home page..?

Rich

Answer:Left side of screen is cut off

First make sure the display resolution is set to the correct values for that particular monitor (the monitor has a "native" resolution and you need to set the display resolution to match that). Changing the resolution doesn't just change it for the "home page" (whatever that is?), it changes it for everything.

After setting the resolution to the correct values, any further adjutments to picture size that are needed can be made with the monitor's own height and width adjustment controls (usually via an on-screen menu system in conjuction with the monitor's buttons).

I am trying to fix my friends computer which is having several weird issues. When you login everything appears to be normal but Windows loads to a black screen with a cursor. Ctrl + Alt + Del to task manager and I can run explorer.exe to restore the desktop. However the problem now is once your at the desktop all programs when you try to run them pop up with an application failed to run side-by-side configuration is incorrect. these problems are not apparent when the computer is ran in safe mode, but I can not figure out what to do. I checked the registry HKLM software windows nt logon and explorer.exe is the value.
Malwarebytes when ran in safe mode does not detect anything either.

Answer:windows logs in to a black screen, programs have side by side config

Some possibilities: this application failed to start because side-by-side-configuration is incorrect

Was this computer upgraded from Vista to Windows 7? If so that may be the cause. You can try doing a Repair Install of Windows 7 to see if that corrects the problem.

My 6 month old Dell Inspiron 7559 has starting coming apart from around the left side hinge. The keyboard plate is being separated from the bottom chassis and can see inside. Dell support say its damage or wear and tear. Really!. The laptop has been at home and not moved beyond 5 feet for the last 6 months. There is NO damage and even a microscopic inspection will not reveal any damage. Wonder how UK support brushed me off even after sending photos and saying not covered by warranty. Had been a Dell customer for last 12 years and this is my 4th Dell and definitely the last one. Cannot stand a company like this

Got a new W500 wuth WUXGA about a month ago and have never been happy with the screen brightness, its much dimmer than my old x61s or T61p. Now today I just realised that the entire left side about 2 inches from the edge is darker than the rest. On a white background it is obvious and becomes even more obvious as you lower the brightness. Are there any tools I can use to measure/test this?Has anyone else noticed this?Am I entitled to return this for a replacement screen under warranty? Any help is much appreciated!

Answer:W500 screen very dim on left side

I have the same problem.  My friend has the T61p, so I thought that that w500 would have a brighter.  NOPEIt's horable.  I can turn down the T61p to about 60%, and it is still brighter than the w500.The w500 viewing angle is nuch less than the T61p. There is a huge difference between the two, expecially when viewing them side  by side. Can the problem be related to the display card?  The T61p has nvidia, while the w500 has ati. Or did Lenove simple saved money, and gave us a crapy lcd screen.?

So quite frequently I will come out of a game and all of my shortcuts will be stretched all the way down the screen on the left column. It looks like all of the icons are crammed into a single column on the left side. I know it is all of them because part of one of the shortcuts will be cut in half as it leaves the screen It doesn't have to be a full screen game either. I'll just come out of chrome and my icons will be super messed up. I am able to fix it but it happens so often and it takes so long to fix and it gets super annoying. There are also 2 icons that are towards the middle of the screen that I left there recently that weren't stretched out. I have no idea how to fix this. I looked around and found nothing. Please help. Here is a screenshot of what it looks like. Take note that i did not move the two icons in the middle as they were left alone for some reason by the "glitch". Thank you.

Answer:Icons stretched off screen on left side.

Try to align the icons to grid. Open your program again and exit it.

Good evening, I have had this issue just recently. I use 1920X1080 with a radeon 4850HD graphics card. Everything was just fine, however a black bar has appeared on the left side only. I had plugged my cable into the tv to play a game, and when i replaced it back into the monitor the bar appeared..

I would also like to note that this issue only happens on this resolution. Any other resolution works like a charm. I have used google search and none of the suggestions worked for me. I have 2 hard drives with windows on them, and the issue happens on both devices. I have also used the monitors menu to slide the screen over, but it did not avail. New drivers/rollbacks/uninstalls did not help

Could anyone help me out here? I could provide a picture if needed.

Thanks and have a great week!

Hi Organanon,

Welcome to the Community,

When you say "reloaded" do you mean doing a refresh, system restore, reinstalation or a simple restart of the machine?

Have you tried running a calibration on the touch screen?

Might also want to try to re-download and install drivers from support site.

Hi all,

I've come here as a last resort before reformatting my machine.
Recently I've noticed this strange thing where the mouse keep moving to the left side of the screen, even when ejecting my mouse and keyboard.
Connecting another mouse didn't solve the problem, nor a search with Spyware doctor, spybot search and destroy and AVG 9 free edition.

I'm running Win7 x64 pro edition.
I've attached the files from the manual beside the gmer because it didn't have any output.

Any help would be highly appreciated,

Thanks,

only1/2 screen to right on toshiba pc have to shrink page to read I need page to move to the left to get full screen how do I fix this

Answer:only half screen right side how can I move left ?

Try tapping F8 at start up to access advanced boot options. Try booting to Safe Mode, if safe mode works normally (full screen) then perform a system restore to a date before the problem began (launch it from safe mode). If safe mode works normally but system restore does not help, try downloading up to date drivers and installing them from safe mode.If safe mode still uses only half of the screen, try booting into BIOS set up (see your online manual for the access key at boot up). If BIOS set up also shows half screen, then your problem is hardware related and is either your monitor or graphics card/chip/chipset. If a laptop, try an external monitor, if a desktop, try a different monitor and even a different monitor cable. Post your results and detailed system specs for more detailed response and more suggestions. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Hi,
Having a multi-monitor system here I'm finding it overly difficult to bring up the charm bar on the right edge of my primary monitor, it would be substantially easier if I could move it to the left side of my screen and move the new task bar that appears on the left side of my screen over to the right side of my screen (since I personally use it less).

Is there a way to do this, or maybe a way to just have both on the left side of the screen?

I know that I can press the Win+C keys to bring up the charm bar but I'm really not much of a hot key user.

Answer:Is there a way to move the charm bar to the left side of my screen?

I don't think that's doable. Try moving your cursor to the very bottom of your screen, then move it right until the charms bar appears.

Has anyone noticed this model HP laptop with 4K screen to have a warmer/yellowish color temperature starting from the left side and gradually becoming cooler/whiter as it goes right? This can be seen best when the background is white. I can see this yellow-to-white fade at any angle so I know this is a panel problem, and not because of my viewing angle. Out the box, the color temperature was a lot warmer than my TV and older laptop so I changed the color settings and still, however white the  left side gets, the right side gets way whiter, leaving the left side looking dull yellow. I don't have OCD but this is really putting a strain on my eyes because it has to keep adjusting to the different levels of white. I need to know if this is common so I can decide whether or not to go through with an exchange. Please help. Thanks.

Answer:Yellowish tint on left side of the screen

Not common and not acceptable. 4K panels are often made by knitting together two panels split vertically down the middle. You can't see the split unless there is an issue with one of the panels, or sometimes when the screen is dark you will see a vertical line of little white dots down the middle. In your case I would say you have a defective panel on the left.

The left side of the screen is the hub for apps and app-switching and all that nonsense, but I can't use the left side of my screen in games. I can't scroll in any RTS using my mouse on the left side and if I click, it switching to the home screen and takes the focus off my screen. In some first person shooters, if I look too far left and click the left mouse button, the same thing happens. I don't mind having the metro UI, but I want it disabled in certain apps. Anyone figure this out?

So today I opened my acer aspire 5100 and i logged on to vista. And as i was getting started i noticed a small (width) yellow line which went top to bottom on the left. I thought something was wrong with the screen. So i emailed acer and that was not a big help. Now i have 3 lines that change colors and i am worried more will appear. Later on i applied presure and pushed left and they went away. But i am not sure how to keep it there. After i let go and the screen moved a little right and the lines appered. I think this is becuase something moved the screen right weather it was from a trip or something else. What can i do to get rid of the stripes or vertically adjust the laptop? Thanks Slamdunka

Answer:Laptop Screen, Strange lines down left side.

I'd let whoever sold it to you fix it - you talk about a trip but don't seem sure - if you can't remember doing anything that could have damaged the laptop I wouldn't be guessing while talking to them - warranties only cover it if it is the result of parts being defective.

I don't know how to lower the start button down to the left side of the monitor screen like it was before. I'll be appreciate for any assistance.

Answer:start button comes up to the top on the left side of my monitor screen

Right-click an empty space on the taskbar. If Lock the Taskbar has a check mark next to it, the taskbar is locked. You can unlock it by clicking Lock the Taskbar, which removes the check mark. After just click on the taskbar and drag to move it down.

When I use hard disk 1 with WinXP Pro, I get the flashing cursor but when I swap (disk 2) with WinXP Home, all is well. The onboard video has either failed or the driver is bad so I use an ad-on video card. What may be the problem?

teddy76, a couple of things cone to mind, both SWAGs.1. Is the BIOS set to boot from HDD or disc? Sounds to me like it expects the disc and ignores the HDD.2. Suspect you may be on the right track about the driver. Sure you have the proper one?HTH.Ed in Texas.

I had an issue earlier with my laptop. I spilled liquid on it and had to get a new keyboard. Everything else seemed to be working fine. The computer is running fine the keyboard just wasn't giveing proper output until i got the USB one. I decided to give it a restart and when it came back i saw all my desktop icons on the left side of tge screen. They were all stacked on each other in a single line. I've tried adjusting auto arrange, snap to grid, vertical spacing, and nothing seems to work. I don't know if this is due to the liquid in the keyboard but nothing else has seemed out of the ordinary except for the keyboard.

Using Windows 8 IE 10. I have a long list of favorites that I like to keep on the left side of my screen. For some reason the list does not always stay there. I have to go to the "Star" ( view Favorites") on the top right and use the pin favorites which will then put on the left, but they do not always stay there. I seems like a continous process. Is there a setting I am not doing right?

Answer:Favorite Lists not staying on Left side of screen using IE

Hello fdenny,

Usually the Favorites Center will stay pinned to the left until you close it. See if this may help.

I recently purchased a Yoga 2 pro, and it worked perfectly for a couple days, but unfortunately now the left side of the touch screen does not work.  I have tried uninstalling the touchscreen driver and reinstalling it, I've installed up updates and recalibrating the touch screen, however it seems the entire left side of the screen is just completely dead and cannot interpet touch. Should I return the computer and get a new model? Is there anything else I can try?

Answer:New Yoga 2 Pro Left Side of Touch Screen Not Working

hi jbenadiva,

Thanks for Posting!

Try shutting down the PC by holding the Power button. "keep the power button held down 15sec after the screen turned off".

    Also try Uninstalling
Under Human interface devices in Device Manager uninstall all that starts with HID.
  then restart the computer.

If that will not fix the problem still. I suggest you call the reseller or Lenovo to report the Issue and ask for your options.

Hi, I have a problem.......every time I go on to a page or thread (on any forum) I get a pop up at the left side of the screen that says "related searches" and contains about 4 or 5 items probably related to the thread I'm viewing but do not want to have as it blocks out at least 1/5 of the screen.

It can be removed by clicking on a very small cross in a square box, but as the pop up occurs every time I turn a page over, not only on this forum but on all other forums I log on to, it gets extremely frustrating to have to keep doing it just to see the full page.

I have the pop up blocker set at full block, and keep also getting a reminder at the bottom of the screen that some item has been blocked etc.

This has only just happened in the last week........it has actually only started to happen since I logged onto Facebook and Skype after a long absence, but I don't know if that is significant.

Is there a setting somewhere that I have inadvertently OK'd that allows the pop up to be present or is this something new to Win 7?

How do I get rid of the function?
Ian.

Answer:Want Related Items pop up at left side of screen removed.

One option is to run a Flash and/or JavaScript blocker in your browser (e.g. NoScript in Firefox-based browsers).

Also, have you checked for malware on your PC?

Need help..my computer will not boot up ,,,all i get is that it detects the hardware then the flashing cursor on the top left side of screen. NO windows logo. I have read the other similar posts but for some reason i can not get into safe mode. I have an old asus a7v8x-mx motherboard with a amd 2100. I have reformatted another harddrive i had laying around and it works great with the computer so that eliminates everything but the harddrive i originally had in there. i want the information on that harddrive so reformatting that one is out of the question. I have the operating system disk , i was thinking of repairing it but i am not sure??????Any help will do Thanks

Answer:flashing cursor top left side of blank screen

Install your old hard "damaged" drive as a Slave. Use you reformatted drive as master and boot the OS from it. Then see if you can read your Slave drive and get what you need off it.

If not then at least you can run some dignostics from your master and see if you can get the corrupted one working.

Good luck

Hi, I have an HP envy laptop and all of a sudden this morning the left third of the screen (exactly a third to the millimetre) has lots of coloured vertical lines. The photo shows it at it's worst, usually its just a few horizontal pink sections of the screen, or sometimes it doesn't happen at all. Here is an image to show what I mean: The annoying thing is this happened to my previous HP laptop last year, which I tried to fix by taking it apart and making sure all the ribbon cables were secure and in good condition, which they were. Luckily I bought that from Amazon who accepted it back after 6 months with no questions asked, but this one is from eBay, and although I did get a Curry's receipt with it when I bought it I'm not sure they'd be so willing to replace it, and I'd have to look around for the receipt.Has anyone else had this happen with their laptops? What do you think my best option for getting it fixed/replaced would be? Cheers

Good Afternoon, I recently bought became an acer user after I found this Aspire laptop that had everything that I wanted at a reasonable price. But after just a couple years the left side near the adapter plug in began to crackle everytime the screen was open and closed, slowly on the same side the plasitic became more and more separated, until recently this was not a major issue but as time wore on that small gap has become so wide it seperates the whole computer in two causing my the port that the power cord is connected to has fallen deep inside the laptop. As I begin to research this problem I came to find that this was something that has happened to almost every acer laptop no matter the price or type, now my question is since this is a manufacturers problem shouldnt ACER fix this issue without any cost to the customer since it is something that should have been fix in design phase? I find this perplexing because I have owned other laptops that I have droped (I have never dropped this one) that has NEVER split open. PS if you do not believe me research for yourself. most of these malfunction happen before a years usage

Answer:Acer laptop LEFT side Screen hinge Problem

Hi, It is unfortunate to hear about the issues you're having with your case and opening the lid to your laptop. I would recommend having the machine serviced.

I can assure you that a far larger portion of Acer laptops do not have this issue. A lot of research, time and developement go into the area around the hinges to minimize issues, but laptops have had these issues for 20+ years. The hinge is a common component that produces a lot of stress. While we do measure ourselves to others, a quick google search replacing Acer for another manufacture is sure to produce the same results.

Hi all,I'm not sure if I posted in the correct forum and I'm new to this so bear with me.  So I bought this laptop around 5 months ago and only about 1 month ago the left side of the touch screen is not working. It would register that something is touching the bottom left side because I have my visual feedback turned on and after a half a minute of that, you can see it go haywire and register nearly the entire 1/3 left side. After 30 seconds of it going haywire, it would stop. And then either the entire left side or just the bottom left side would completely not register any touches at all. This wouldn't happen all the time, just every other day and definitely enough to be extremely annoying.  I bought my laptop in to get fixed for a completely unrelated problem because it's still under warranty and I told them about this issue but it doesn't seem like they fixed it and I'm thinking it's because it just didn't happen to happen to them when they had it. Also, I'm not sure if it's a software issue (since I don't think that's covered by warranty) or hardware. I have Windows 10 Pro, 64 bit OS, pen and touch support with 10 points.  Is there anyway that you guys can help me on this? It would be much appreciated.

Hi multihawk, thanks for posting and welcome to the community.I was reading though your post and wondering when did you notice the lines appearing? The only way to fix this is to replace the screen -- if you're under warranty, call Dell for a warranty repair.  if not, you can replace the display yourself, or have Dell or another computer shop do the job.

Anybody have the answer to this problem

Many thanks

Answer:Satellite P100 - white screen on left side aproxx 1.5 inchs

I don't know what kind of answer do you expect here.
What you should do is to check if this problem is related to defective LCD screen.

If possible contact your notebook to external monitor and check functionality. If this white part is not shown on external monitor the LCD is defective and should be exchanged.

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 500 touch screen left side doesn't working

Hi G1zda ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Would a factory reset be an option ? be sure to back up your files first .
Was there any incident of accidents specially on the non functioning side.

Try the touch features on the One Key Recovery Screen and check if there is ripple or would response on both sides .
To access the One screen Recovery :
When the computer is off, press this button to start the Lenovo OneKey Recovery System (Novo Key item 3 page 13 )and choose System Recovery  and check any touch response ( just for testing purpose and no need to continue the OKR factory reset since it would delete everything .

If same issue specially if factory restore can be done , then best to call in tech support for recommendation or your service partner .

Update us how it goes.

I have a New (3 month old) - T61 with 15.4 Widescreen - WXGA (1280 x 800) LCD Monitor that uses the Quadro NVS 140M (128M) graphics card. Now, I just noticed (using notebook pc more heavily now, so this may have occurred since day one):..... In both native Windows Applications and Internet Explorer Browser Windows, horizontal graphical lines appear to bend or slant up slightly, starting from approx. the middle of the line all the way to the left hand side of a horizontal graphical line.Questions:... Is this being caused by a Driver Issue or a hardware problem with my specifc NVS 140M video card that is built into my notebook pc's motherboard ???... Do I need to have my motherboard replaced to get another built-in video 140M card to resolve this issue --- or --- is this a known Driver Issue where an updated driver would resolve my bending of horizontal lines ???Anybody, else notice this problem besides me ??? FYI .... For example, take a look at the Google screen's horiz line drawn across the screen above the Google Logo, ... does it go UP on a slant towards the Left side of the Internet Explorer Browser Window for you, (starting from the middle of the line and looking from that point all the way to the left end of the line) ???

The motherboard had been replaced once due to USB/standby issues and worked fine for a few months, but now it seems to be returning again. I'm not sure if this is again a motherboard issue or something else altogether. In rough sequence of when the faults started appearing. Initial symptoms: the left side yellow USB ports will stop working after returning from standby/hibernation. Windows 7 gives a USB device error and basically everything connected to that same USB controller won't work. Sometimes it recovers by itself after  a few more standby/wake cycles, sometimes if I disable/enable the USB controller in Device Manager but often nothing works except a shutdown and cold boot. Then the screen started going extra bright or more accurate high gamma white-out when returning from standby. Everything becomes very whitish/bright but slowly will settle down to normal within 30 seconds or so. I could live with all these niggling small issues, but recently my X201 started going crazy with random drops into STANDBY. I know there is a thread about random shutdown but that isn't the issue here. Just out of the blue, connected to power with 100% battery, the X201 will go into standby. Sometimes it will wake almost immediately by itself, then go back into standby again. Other times, I have to hit the Fn button to wake it, but frequently it will just go right back to standby ag... hey thinkanon, welcome to the forums, curious to know as the motherboard has been replaced, is the bios on it version 1.38 ? As the latest bios was release around Dec 21st, 2011.another thing you could do is to remove all drivers and let windows install its own generic drivers.see if this makes any difference for you.

My Dell Inspirion 3148 (Intel i3) laptop's certain keys are not functioning, I have updated all the drivers now what can be done?
performed all steps as asked by agent here....

but still the issue

Answer:Dell Inspirion 3148 keyboard (left side keys like 1, Q, A, Z, Caps Lock) keys are not functioning)

I'm assuming you have windows 10 on the system.....
I'd suggest you check Sticky keys in control panel. You might have mistakenly turn it on.
At the left bottom of taskbar, right click windows icon, click on Control Panel, Ease Of Access, and then Change How Your Keyboard Works. If there's a check mark in box - Turn on Sticky keys) then uncheck it and click Apply.

Hello,

I have a strange problem. I recently had to move my graphics card from one slot to another on my motherboard. When I did so, my desktop appeared to be shifted over to the left and that the left most part of the desktop would not display. I tried to use my TV controls to shift the display horizontally and when I did I encountered two issues- 1) the display would not adjust flush with the right side of the screen (would not reach it leaving a slim black bar) and 2) it looked like someone sliced off the left most part of my desktop (the part missing was a width so that about half the start/ windows button was missing).

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling CCC (latest update/drivers) for my ATI Raedon HD 46xx series card with no luck (Doing a registry sweep between to be thorough). I also have updated everything else windows with no luck.

My desktop is fine @50hz by the way, but 60hz is problematic.

And here is the whammy!

I took a screenshot of my desktop to send to a friend so he could see the left part cut off by a black bar and when I pasted it, the whole screen is there in the pic!!

So I assume this means that windows thinks it is displaying the screen but it is not making it to my TV?

I would have given up on this, however, it was working before so I know that it is possible.

Any help with this issue would be appreciated as I am starting to pull my hair out over here! :-)
Thanks in advance!

Daikon

Answer:Desktop shifted left and cutoff on left side Win7 64bit Raedon HD 46xx

Hum I had a similar thing happen with my monitor I just could not get it to the edges and someone advised me to use the scaling in the CCC and it worked so give it go.

Personally I got so fed up with the ATi stuff and went NVidia best thing I ever did.

There's this annoying white noise on my left speakers(Logitech X-540 Speakerset), though I think it's not my speakers that are causing it, but something else, because when I connect my iPod to my speakers there's no white noise.

So I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to get rid of this noise

Answer:White noise on left speakers/left side of headphone

Sounds like either a driver malfunction or more likely a failing sound card. Most of the stuff below (Windows & Programs) wouldn't likely be causing problems. I'd be willing to bet it's a hardware problem (due to it only being one side).

Figure Out What's FailingIf you're using a secondary sound card
*** i.e. you have a second built in one on your motherboard, enable that.
If you still hear the sound on a different card, then it's something within Windows and not a problem w/ hardware.
If you don't hear the sound, then it's something w/ drivers or your hardware.
If you don't have an extra sound card, see if you can find/buy one Replace DriversDownload & Install a Program like Guru's Driver Sweeper
Uninstall your sound drivers w/ Driver Sweeper
Reboot
Download and install the latest drivers for your sound card.
RebootIf the sound is still there and you couldn't test a secondary card you're likely dealing with either a hardware failure (most likely with sound only happening in one speaker) or something in Windows failing.

Repair WindowsIf you want to try to fix windows, you can do the following:
Run an elevated Command Prompt and run this command:
sfc /scannow
Peform a system restore
Perform a repair install.Test to see if a program is causing the problemType msconfig into start menu search and hit Enter
Go to the startup tab and disable everything.
Restart computer
Do you still hear the sound?
Yes -- Not a program
No -- A program is likely causing the problem. If no... Read more
