I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So everything has been working fine on my laptop until about 10:30PM EST tonight. I bought it new in August 2011.
Specs:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
CPU: Intel Core i7-2630QM @ 2.00 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
HD: 750 GB
BIOS: 45CN36WW

It's always been a fine machine with NO problems.
However, last night there were Windows 7 updates that were installed and then restarted my computer. I had not gotten a chance to check exactly what they were though. About 10:30 this evening, flash crashed in Mozilla Firefox which is not that uncommon, and from there Firefox closed, and so did my Microsoft Word and Excel apps that were open. From there, my computer began to shut down and restart. When it went to restart, all it could do was go to the opening Lenovo screen which gives you the F2 (setup option) and F12 (multiboot menu option) as it typically does. Besides a thin strip at the top that appeared after about 30 secs that only displays moving static that eventually will just stick, that is where the boot process ends. No Windows 7 screen, and certainly no opportunity to boot into safe mode to check for any problems. The screen freezes and goes nowhere.

So basically, all I'm getting in terms of boot options are lenovo features, not windows 7 features, meaning it won't boot into windows 7 or windows 7 safe mode no matter what I try. The biggest problem here is that I have no windows 7 disc to even try to boot from my dvd drive.

Anybody have any suggestions on what the probl... Read more

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 - Crashed and now won't boot past opening lenovo screen

Are you able to get into the advanced boot menu by tapping F8? It might not be listed on the startup screen but it should still be there.

If not you can burn a repair disc from any PC with Windows 7. Theres steps from Microsoft Here.

I had a virus a few days ago. I tried to delete the virus after downloading a scanner. My laptop rebooted and had a blue screen that gave me options to fix, reset to factory, etc however the keyboard wasn't working so I couldn't put in my password. The only option without the password was to reset totally so I did. After a while another screen popped up saying there was an issue with the resetting. Long story short when I reboot only the lenovo splash comes up, F2 and F12 at the bottom of the screen, and the curser in the top left corner blinks a few times and then disappears. I can't get it to boot for nothing. I am able to plug another keyboard in but now all I get is the black screen and have no options to reset. I've read that the bios is probably the issue but have not clue how to get this set back up. Won't read usb flash. Please help.

I just bought the lenovo ideapad y580 which comes with windows 8 64bit. Then I tried installing windows 7 64bit with a installation cd I had lying around. I installed it but throughout the installation it required a restart and it didnt finish installing and on the startup it now gets stuck on the windows 7 startup screen. When I look into drive partitioning(forgot how I did that) it says that theres windows 8 on the C: drive but when I go into (f11) which operating system to launch it only says it has windows 7(which freezes up doesn't even launch in safemode. (I downloaded a windows 7 recovery cd burned imagine file to disc and used it in the laptop but it says incorrect version of windows to use this software. So i downloaded windows 8 recovery and it just crashed. I also tried downloading different versions of windows 7 mounting the iso to a cd but the boot menu doesnt recognize the cd (doesnt even know theres a cd in the laptop). Anyone know of a fix?

Answer:Lenovo ideapad y580 Reset to Factory/Install windows 7

I had installed Win7 after Win8 and I had a simaliar problem, except when I recovered it simply did not work. There is a problem with the cross partition platform between .MSI and FAT32. I had to actually try to reinstall the Windows 7 by just wiping the whole HD. If you can enter BIOS and just reformat EVERYTHING, LEAVE NOTHING then you might be able to do so. If not, have you tried drivers? Or have you tried possibly booting with a USB on something like Ubuntu or Debian? That's what I almost did as well. I think though, if you cannot get it to work, I'd retry with partitioning, then if that still didn't work, I would try using a new OS to boot through. I would suggest if that doesn't work, then come back. I also, have a USB DVD-CD ROM drive that I use.So try that if you have already, then talk to me tell me more details.

Laptop is running on Windows 10. Yesterday I updated my AMD graphics driver using the update tool from AMD. After all the necessary files were downloaded and installed, I was prompted to restart and I did. Upon restart, the laptop would not boot past the Lenovo screen. The white circles that rotate always freeze and it just stays on the Lenovo screen upon every attempt to boot. I can't enter safe mode or the bios options, what can I do to fix this?  P.S. A few months ago I began having an issue with the sleep mode. When trying to enter sleep mode, the laptop would just shut down unexpectedly and almost instantly. I'm not sure what caused this issue, but I've just been avoiding it by shutting down instead of sleeping. Not sure if this has anything to do with it, or if the restart was interrupted by an unexpected shutdown.

Hi,  My ~3 year old ideapad purchased from Newegg seems to have gone south. I have Windows 8.1 installed. Last night I shut it off to bring it to class and when I got to class and tried to boot up, it wouldn't finish starting up, would sit at the logo screen for about 30 seconds before shutting down and starting over. The fans power up like it is going to start. It repeats this loop indefinitely. I tried holding the reset button next to the charger port and still nothing.  Suggestions?  Thanks

Hi jonblane1,1. May I know what Windows are you using? 2. You may try to access Lenovo System Recovery by pressing F11.3. If Step 2 does not work, you may refer to this link.

Im trying to reset my laptop to its factory settings but having difficulties.  websites have indicated i wanted to go to advanced boot menu by pressing f8 during the startup (lenovo logo) but it keeps proceeding to windows.  I tried fn+f8 as well as an usb keyboard and still nothing.  Any ideas? I did find a initial backup option in the onekey--> recovery menu.  Is this the factory reset image?  not sure if this is an image that was made after all the extra content was installed or not.

I recently bought a new Lenovo G50-80 but it came with preinstalled viruses.  I got rid of them but for peace of mind i was hoping for a clean install.  Originally I wanted to delete and reformat all partitions but then again I wouldnt be able to use Lenovo's backup and drivers. Thus the questions: 1) Would the factory reset eliminate all viruses as if i was going to reformatting harddrives or no? 2) can the recovery partition in the laptop be infected as well?3) And this might be pointless to ask, but once the factory reset completes, other than the Windows OS, there wont be nothing else on the comp correct?

Hi manojalandkar  ,

Greetings.

For the Z50-70 factory reset,

Turn off your pc and use the Novo Key (left side number 2 page 9)  to turn back on .
Novo menu would offer System Recovery , One key recovery from Initial Backup would launch factory restore that would reset everything and delete all files and programs.

It would be repartitioned with a new image just like when it came from out of the box.

Be sure that you back up things you need before doing it.
Update us how it goes.

My Windows 8 Lenovo Y500 has been in a constant auto repair black screen blue screen loop for a couple of days now and I can't seem to find a solution. Mainly I've been looking to simply factory restore it to solve the problem since I don't care about losing any data. I've already tried: F8Shift + F8F9F11Novo button system recovery I tried these in order to try and access the advanced options but to no avail. The Novo button system recovery says "Loading files" then goes to Lenovo logo but loops back to the auto repair. I do not have a Win. 8 recovery disc or USB at hand. Is the only way to fix this is to obtain one? Thanks.

Hey guys, For context: I have a recovery key. I can't seem to factory rest my Lenovo because of this one error. I start my pc using the novo button, go down to System Recovery then press enter. From there, all is good. But after that, I either get a blue screen with an error message on a blue background followed by the startup up Lenovo Screen with the added "preparing automatic repair" followed by a black screen or I just skip the error message straight to the "preparing automatic repair" screen. Does this make sense? If so, how do I fix this? Kind regards,Luc

I have a G50-80 latop which was upgraded to Win10 quite a while ago. Recently it started having trouble with hardware and software that once worked not working any longer. I decided to use the factory reset option to take the system back to Win8.1. Before doing this I uploaded the more critical of my user files to a cloud service and created a Windows system recovery image to an external SSD connecterd via USB. I also created a system recovery CD. Once I felt all was safe, I pushed the little button and began the factory reset. It worked beautifully, the system came up in Win8.1. However, the files I had uploaded to the cloud didn't fully propagate, and I needed to restore the Win10 image to get them back. After many attempts to get the Win10 upgrade to work, I was finally able to boot Win10 and restore from the system image from the SSD. I found the files and more securely saved them for later access. Now, I needed to perform one more factory reset to bring the system back to Win8.1. But, the operations to do so resulted in the system rebooting back to the Win8.1 installation. It was not able to start the factory reset. Some reading on the internet indicates that if the HD partitions are written to by software other than the Lenovo OneKey tools that any attempt to use the factory paritions to do a reset would fail with the symptoms I was seeing. Using the Win10 disk management tool, I can see that there are 6 paritions on my HD. They are called "Reco... Read more

I had upgrated it to Windows 10 but felt it was too clunky.  I utilized the system restore windows that comes on when you boot up the laptop.   After the reformat I wanted to check to see if I could preform a system reformat again but I don't see the system restore window anymore upon bootup.  I did press the ThinkVantage  button upon boot but nothing.   I pressed F11 but nothing.  I did check to see if the partition is present and it is.  I am not sure what the next step is. ThanksMario

As the subject above suggests, I am looking for specific instructions on how to perform a factory reset on my Lenovo Z570. My laptop has been starting up really slowly and the entire laptop seemed to have slowed down significantly. Looking to perform a factory reset to clean it up. I have tried the OneKey Recovery process, however, it does not proceed any further than the screen with grass/leaves. The window that was supposed to appear after that consisting of the 3 options did not appear- the screen with grass/leaves seemed to carry on at least 30 minutes. I was wondering is there another way of carrying out a factory reset without using the OneKey Recovery process? I have tried using F11 key at startup and nothing seems to happen. Is there another key that I should be using? F9/F10 doesn't seem to be the right ones as well. Cheers guys.

Answer:Factory Reset Lenovo Z570

hi lenovogeek2015,

Welcome to the Forums.

If you have a preinstalled Windows 7 OS, pressing the OneKey Recovery button is the usual way of restoring the machine from factory settings. Since this method doesn't work for you, you may try to boot into Windows and create a set of recovery disc then use it to restore Windows on the system.

Guide:
How to Create Factory Disc with One Key Recovery 7.0

In addition, I've seen the issue where the System Recovery screen doesn't show up and the unit is stucked on a wallpaper with green leaves (this is usually a case of a slow or failing HDD).

In this case, you can try these steps to check and improve the performance of the drive:
1. Use chkdsk and defragment and observe

How to Use Windows 7 Disk Defragmenter
Windows 7: Disk Check
.
2. If same issue, run a diagnostic on the drive to verify its health.

Tools:
 - HDTune (run a full error scan and check the health tab)

 - Lenovo Individual Diagnostic (see Storage Test)

 - Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows (for Western Digital drives)

 - Seatools for Windows.(for Seagate/Samsung drives)

If it involves going to Reset My PC/Advanced Options, I unfortunately can't go there, because it requires a password and I believe my password was wiped out of the system after I safe-booted it with networking.

Hi,

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad E530c laptop which I need to reset to factory.

On startup. pressing F11 brings up the Lenovo recovery tool to do this, however, because the laptop is setup on a network, it says this cannot be used. It instructs me to login and use the tools within the OS.

I cannot login because the trust relationship between the laptop and server is corrupt (which I also can't fix).

Any ideas on how I can access the recovery tool, perhaps by creating a new login to use (I don't know the local admin password).

Thanks

I haven't been able to resolve my black screen issue. I have a recovery cd I purchased from Lenovo. My question is when I turn on my pc it goes to the Lenovo F1 and F12 option. I can access those so How do I reinstall my Windows 7?

Answer:Factory reset on Lenovo B320

hi iamary,

Ideally, if the machine is preloaded with Windows (e.g., Win7 or Wni8/8.1), you can do a system recovery by pressing F2 on boot-up.

If the machine didn't came preloaded with Windows or the hidden partition is damage then you need to insert the Disc 1 of the Recovery Discs -->turn on the machine --> tap press F12 on boot-up and select the CD/DVD drive to boot from the recovery media and restore the unit to factory settings.

Note:
The system partition will be wiped during factory restore, Ensure you backup important files first before proceeding.

Hi, I have a Lenovo laptop I was struggling to use several months now. It wouldn't update windows for one thing noway whatsoever and would not either upgrade for free to windows 10.Since the expiry day for free windows 10 upgrade is approaching I decided to factory reset it and complete the upgrade if it wants it or not.I guess I'll have questions during the process so I decided to register here and ask them as they will appear. So here is the first question, as I checked the reset button, it asked if I want to reset only the drive with windows or the other drives too. Such as my laptop had more than one drives, which I ignored.Where can I locate and check those drives?TksP.S. Don't know how to answer to the below answer but editing initial post. I performed clean install of windows through novo button although a botched attempt to recovery through another procedure previously made windows 8 not responding.  Wonderful feature the novo button, did not even know it existed in my laptop. After that I upgraded fully to windows 10, added a security suite, a vpn and now I am scanning for malware offline.  Will study all your info below first thing next.  I have another question though.  If I want to create a restore point now that I finished upgrading, is this possibility available or should I use the one key recovery to create an image instead?  Or are both options available and if yes, which one to choose?

Answer:Factory reset of lenovo g40-30 windows 8

Hi assybertran ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Usual for the G40-30 model to either have a single HDD or a hybrid SSHD that holds with 8GB NAND flash memory . Physical harddrive may hold multiple drive declared as partitions.

Onekey recovery feature is a full factory reset that would be able to clear and delete everything out and restore the image the way it was when receive from out of the box which is ideal to having a fresh start for users as it deletes possibilities of infecting one drive from the others.
Data back up is definitely recommended on a different storage

To check both for availability and integrity  running diagnostics would help.  Going to the BIOS on the same Novo menu would also show physical drives available on the unit.
About the mentioned partitions , disk management would show it. Note that OKR is a hidden partition on the harddrive (highlighted links for further reference and details) .

Take time to review the procedure and back up everything needed. Run appropriate diagnostics before deciding.

Update us how things go for you.

You mentioned that you upgraded to Win8Pro, so did your machine come with Win8Std preinstalled, or something else?. The only downgrade rights (from Win8) that I know of are limited to factory-licensed Win8Pro >> Win7Pro.

Please help us understand how you got to the point you're at.

Regards.

I have tried going to F11 reset but it doesn't work, when booting up it " To interrupt normal setup press, ENTER" but when I press ENTER and F11 nothing happens. It has the original OS and going to the BIOS I wasn't able to find the restore option. Is the only option creating a recovery disk/USB and if so where can I find the files necessary.

The screen shot you posted shows the system restore page, not a factory reset page. There would be no system restore points to restore to because system restore was disabled.

Hello, My sister bought a Lenovo 3000 N100 (I dont know which model as it has rubbed off) about 3 or 4 years ago. When she bought it I made some recovery CDs (7 CDs). Anyway she has been infected by a virus called "XP Recovery" which has hidden all her files and deleted all the .ink files in the start menu. I have managed to remove the virus but I dont really have time to manually restore all the .ink files as this would take way to much time. I just want to restore the OS to factory settings. How do I restore the system to factory settings? The 4gb hidden partsion is still on the system andit hopefully hasnt been damaged. Thanks Carl

Answer:Lenovo 3000 N100 - How to use the factory reset?

if you still have dvds, just insert the first one ( you may need to setup bios order, press 12 to do that ).also, if you have one key recover button ( restore & recovery ) you can start-up your computer by pressing that button.

Answer:How to factory reset lenovo T430 without novo button

There is no novo button.  You enter the BIOS by F1.  F8 gives windows startup options.  Some win8 licensed machines came with win8 and some were downgraded to win7, but all would have been activated.  F11 will restore, but it sounds like somebody installed an incorrect copy of windows, which might have overlaid the restore partition.  In that case, you will need to buy a copy of windows from Lenovo or elsewhere.

Hello, I bought a Lenovo Thinkcentre edge 3414 CQG on an auction. It seems to work ok, because when I start it, it comes up with a login screen for windows 7 professional. Of course, I don't have the password. I only have the PC,keyboard and mouse. No CD's or documentation. On the bottom at the back I have a windows 7 pro licence. How can I reset this to factory settings with a clean version of windows?I searched already a bit here and tried already:Press F11 during boot: Gives me the language choice box, but then comes up again with the same username/pwd box.Press F2 during boot : Gives me the only option "Windows" to choose from and when I select that windows starts with the user/pwd boxPress F8 during startup : has an option "repair the computer", but when I select that I get into the same sequence as pressing F11. Any other ways to to a clean factory reset? If not, is there a way  to somehow get ridd of the pwd box when windows starts up?? Thank you

Hi everyone.  I am desperate,  i bought a Lenovo idea flex 10 second hand back in 2013 and I have been absolutely happy with it. I did something really stupid though, I have lost access to all my emails from back then ( was hacked by an ex boyfriend) and when I reset my passwords,  i actually fortgot to note them and when my smartphone fell and I broke the screen I lost all access.  Now I badly need to reset my computer cause I need Internet for my job - I am a teacher online and I am in full on panic mode right now.  I have accessed bios thanks to someone here but I don't know what to do from there on.  Please help! Thank you !

Answer:Locked out of Lenovo flex 10- I need help to reset factory settings please

Sorry to hear of your problems.

Are you looking to access the computer by circumventing the passwords or are you looking to restore the computer to its original condition like when you first received it?

If it is a password related problem, discussion related to by-passing passwords is not permitted by forum rules due to the ease in which laptops can be stolen.

I've had a virus on the laptop/tablet for a while now and it was ruining the PC for me. I tried multiple different free malware detection services but the actual problems always slipped through. I didn't want to have to pay for a whole new program just to clean it out, and because this is a fairly new device I decided to just factory reset the whole thing. I followed the steps in the user manual and a couple of different internet sites, but I've hit a brick wall. When I get to the reset screen of the laptop, all of the possible options I can use encounter errors. I tried to use "refresh your PC" and get "There was a problem refreshing your PC". I tried "reset your PC" and it gets about half way through the process and says "There was a problem resetting your PC". I went into the advanced options that looks like the image I've attached to this post. It says I do not have any point to restore to, I don't have an image backup, the system repair says that it couldn't repair the PC, I have no idea what to do in command prompt, I couldn't find anything useful in the UEFI (But then again, I didn't know what to look for), and startup settings doesn't do anything. On top of all that, I can't even get out of this menu. My options at the menu start are to Continue (Exit and continue to Windows 8.1), Use a device (Which I do not have one or know how to get one), Troubleshoot, and Turn off your PC. When I try to continue, the PC boots up, says "Preparing Automatic Repair" and I get put ri... Read more

Hi there,About 2 weeks ago I purchased this Lenovo in Romania which came with preinstaled windows 8(.1) license. However, the system run very slowly so I erased the harddrive, completley and installed a clean new 8.1 operating system using an original ms dvd but the system even after had all it's drivers installed was still very laggy compared to an old laptop of mine which run on a i2310m cpu. So I had it returned but the online site tolled me that I scratched the lcd cover(which I didnt) and asked me for 100euros and another 50 euros to restore to factory settings. Now, I asked them to return the laptop to restore the harddrive to original Lenovo settings but I cant find any source to do that on my own. I received no cd/dvd to the laptop. Please, any help would be apreciated.

Hi, When I boot my laptop, after OS start, it will continue on to a blue screen and reset.  I tried opening OS to safe mode but it also continue on to blue screen after OS starts.  I also tried using the lenovo care button for recovery but it ask for my OS password.  The problem here is that I've been using the finger print to start up the OS, and I forgot the password.  I also tried using the recovery disc I created, but it also continue on to asking my OS password. What I want to know is how can I access the partition where the OS is stored so that I could re-install the OS or a way to reset the laptop to factory default and make the necessary upgrades from there. Thanks. Mike

Hi So I got mt Lenovo thinkpad r400 (Windows 7)  few months ago and I want to reset it to factory state but whenever I try it says I need  to insert a certain disk but the issue is when I bought my laptop refurbished it didnt come with the 3 disks I need I tried making my own system repair disk but when I try to reset with my disk Iit wont work It says I still need the 3 disks I really need help so any help would be aappreciated Thanks

Answer:Lenovo ThinkPad R400 Factory Reset Without Recovery Disks

Hi, I am going to assume that your R400 did not come with a Lenovo preload. If it had, you would have a Q drive containing the factory preload image, and then pressing the ThinkVantage button would invoke the factory reload process. using Rescue and Recovery. In addition, having a Q drive, allows you to make factory recovery disks yourself using the Create Rescue Media application. That said, your only other option is to call up Lenovo and pay for them, and that only works if you have a Windows 7 license on the laptop. I bought my R500 back in 2009 and it came with a  Windows 7 professional (32 bit) image. About two or three years later, I purchased the recovery disks from Lenovo, for Windows 7 professional 64 bit for $50 Canadian. What arrived were 2 DVD's and the label on them says that they can be used to recover T400, T500, R400 or R500. I have used them to re-image both my R500 machine, as well as a T500 machine I obtained recently.

My keyboard and trackpad don't work for some reason. I read on the internet that I have to do a hard reset (taking out the battery and disconnecting the AC cable, than holding the power button for 30 seconds) to make it work again. So my question is how to perform a hard reset if the battery is INBUILT. I looked into the user manual of the laptop but I couldn't find anything. My laptop works with a USB mouse and keyboard, and the laptop keyboard works in BIOS. I also tried to find an option to disable the battery in BIOS but couldn't find anything. Thanks for your help!

Hello, I'm gifting my lenovo to a friend and want to reset everything to when I first got it. So I want to basically delete all of my files. How would I go abouts doing this??

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Y510P reset/wipe

hi jiroah,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

While the computer is turned off, you can try pressing the OneKey Recovery button to restore the unit to factory defaults (this will wipe all data on the OS partition (eg. C:\) and will restore the preloaded Win8 OS, softwares and drivers).

- Link to picture

Note:
If you have files on the D:\ drive, you will need to manually move/delete them as this will not be touched by OneKey Recovery.

Answer:How to reset BIOS Lenovo Z400 Ideapad Touch

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

There is no master password, back door or CMOS clearing procedure that will remove your forgotten password.  This is due to the ease in which laptops are stolen.   To resolve the issue you have basically two options.  The first is for the Uncle to try and remember the password he used.  Please keep in mind that passwords are case sensitive and he may have use upper and lower case characters.  The second option is to replace the motherboard.

Hi all,I have had my Lenovo for a little over a year. It suddenly decided to direct me to a troubleshooting blue screen (with options such as refresh and reset) if I try turning it on (It's labeled by the computer as automatic system repair.). All the options on troubleshooting, such as refreshing, resetting, or performing a system restore, are not allowing me to use them.I tried using the button near the charger to access the system restore and set it to its factory settings (with OneKey Recovery) but if I try turning it on, it still redirects to the automatic system repair and the blue screen. It is a month past warranty, so Lenovo is asking me for $99++ and 7+ business days to restore to factory settings.must be an easier way? I have all my files on Carbonite, so I really just need to get to the factory setting. Could anyone help me with some ideas? I really need this computer for work. It used Windows 8, which is what it initially came with.Thank you, and take care!!

Hi guys,  thanks for providing this forum !!Whilst preparing my Yoga 11 for a clean and for sale, I decided that it was a good idea to clean the PC by doing a complete 'factory settings' re-install of the Windows 8 RT software.   I started this process just before bed, and the message that said this would take several hours, so I figured it would be finished by morning. I was met this morning with the PC in a crashed state.  It was non-respondant and just sat on the Lenovo boot screen, with no activity to the progress. I pressed the on off button for 10 seconds and hard booted the machine.   This now attempts to boot, although has obviously crashed part way during the windows re-install process.   The message I get on screen now states 'The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error.  WIndows installation cannot proceed.  To install windows click 'OK' to restart the computer, and then restart the installation' I can no longer boot to windows, and I just receive the message above.  I do not have an install disc...I assume the files are on a recovery partition.   Is there a boot / recovery / safe mode menu for the Yoga, that will allow me to recover this Yoga to it's factory state ?? Kind Regardssmiley.

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad U450p - Bios Update failed

Looks like you have phoenix bios, so you can look at this topic https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-and-Z-series/Lenovo-ideaPad-Y560-BIOS-Recovery/td-p/37791... .Though it's for different laptop model, technically these bioses are similar and that restoration method should work for you. NOTE! that doesn't mean that you can take bios file from y560, you should download updater for your laptop, open it with 7-zip and use bios rom file from here. Flashing bios from different model will DEFINITELY BRICK your laptop. Also, look at this:http://www.bios-mods.com/bios-recovery/phoenix-bios-recovery/http://www.google.com/search?q=phoenix+bios+recovery

Hello,I have a Lenovo Ideapad G460, I am trying to upgrade my bios but it failed. What I did is I had downloaded the bios update from the lenovo site and run the update program and followed all the instructions. During the process of flashing, the application encountered an error. I restarted the laptop and tried Insyde Bios Crisis Recovery using the Fn + B. After several attempts to find the correct filename, the last attempt to flash gave me a series of beeps while flash disks reads, then afterwards, it had powered down the laptop. When I tried to turn on the laptop, the screen is still blank, and now I  am trying to do the crisis recovery again, but now when I press the Fn + B combination, no beeps occurs and flash disk doesn't blink, the fan is spinning at full speed and shut itself down after 10 seconds. I already tried many times already and still gave me the same result. I had already exhausted all methods for flashing but no luck on it. Any help would be appreciated to save my laptop.

Answer:New Ideapad 500 failed Lenovo Solution Center test

This seems to be happening on several new Lenovo systems.  It appears to be a video driver issue, not bad hardware.  The latest Intel video drivers were reported to fix this, however, an "update" somewhere along the lines prevents these drivers from being installed.   Apparently, we are waiting on Lenovo to take the Intel drivers and package them for Lenovo systems.  Once they do that it should fix the issue (unless you end up having a real hardware issue).

Hey everyone. Basically I had installed windows 10 and was stuck on the screen with the spinning dots. I ended up getting in stuck in the "preparing to fix windows" problem. So I just reinstalled Windows 7 using (I think?) the backup. I dont have a windows 7 disk. Well it worked perfectly and then I turned it off to go to bed. The next day it wont get past the lenovo screen that starts immediately. it goes to a black page with a blinking typing indicator, but immediately restarts to the lenovo screen again. It never gets to the "preparing windows" stages. I tried looking it up and tried so many random things. Laptop: Lenovo thinkpad t-61 2gb of ram. Any help is greatly appreciated

Hi,I had my lenovo for a few months now and it was running fine until this problem started to appear. After I put my computer to sleep/hibernate/shutdown at night, the next morning it failed to power up. When i press the power button, the power icon lighted up also as the keybaord but then both got shut down after 3 seconds or less. I tried to press the Bios key, remove battery, hard reset but nothing works. The same thing keeps on happening again, the light turned on for 2 seconds then it turned off. What is wrong with my laptop? Do i need to change my motherboard? I did the lenovo hardware check and it says nothing is wrong with my motherboard or hard drive. Please help!!Thank you

Answer:Lenovo ideapad y510p failed to power up after sleep/shutdown

hi mikebui1204,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

When the machine turns ON, it undergoes hardware functionality check via POST. If the machine suddenly turns off then it's likely that there's a hardware that's either not properly initializing or is malfunctioning.

In addition to the motherboard and HDD diagnostics that you already ran, can you consider running a test  on the GPU , memory, and CPU.
- Lenovo Diagnostic Solutions (see Quick Tests)

Also, if you have the 2nd GPU via ultrabay, try to temporarily remove it and observe.

Regards

Need help with a strange problem, with which I do not see a normal way to fix, after a successful recovery from the factory backup, after using Onekey Recovery. Not so long ago Yoga stop boot in the operating system (Windows 8) and there was only one way, use OneKey Recovery to restore everything back.  After the successful restoration from hidden factory partition, Lenovo Yoga refuse to boot into OS and constantly booting into OneKey Recovery, without using OneKey button. When you push Power button Lenovo logo pop on screen, than loading bar appear on bottom and after it load OneKey Recovery screen. I try use options from OneKey screen, like Boot Option, it bring nothings there , just empty blue screen. It going in loop no matter what option I try use..  Still same OneKey screen on start, what asking me to Reset or use Backup image. I did factory reset several times already, with successful confirmation, no fix done yet..  Is there a known problem or way to stop boot OneKey Recovery in loop? All BIOS setting in factory default, and searching on WEB bring nothings useful. There a lot similar problems with some type of variation but recommendations seems not apply on my situation. I getting sick of that.. and absolutely no idea what can be done else. Please, I need direct response from Lenovo tech support or someone who has same and was able to fix. This is Lenovo Yoga 2 11, model name: 20332. Made in 2014.

My son accidentally got his leg caught in the cord of his laptop when he got up and the laptop  fell approximately 2 feet to the tile floor.  It boots up but stays on the Lenovo splash screen.  If I go into the BIOS and select System Recovery it goes through the "Loading files..." process, the Lenovo splash screen appears with the dots going in a circle but, then after about 2 minutes of that the screen just goes black.  If I tilt the screen forward or back I can tell it is still backlit just with nothing to display.  Anything we can try?

I'm trying to do a recovery on my y580 using the Lenovo Recovery Discs that I had purchased. I can get as far as the second disc and then I get the error 'PreMOPS failed'. My system was purchased with a 32GB msata ssd installed. From what I can see, it appears as if the recovery discs are trying to install onto the msata drive (Disk 0) instead of the hard drive (Disk 1). How do I get the Recovery Disc to install on the hard drive instead of trying to do it on the msata ssd drive? Did Lenovo send me the wrong set of Recovery Discs? These Recovery Discs seem like they are for a system without an msata drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys, i've seen some similar questions asked about this, but the solutions to those problems haven't been able to help me so wanted to ask you guys if i missed something or you can help. Maybe i've overlooked something, but i wanted to write this post, before going to bed in hope i could try the suggested possible solutions. -By the way, i am new to this forum thing so if i am doing it wrong, please feel free to correct me or give me advice on that as well.I got a used Lenovo G500, with windows 8.1 (64-bit) from a friend, so i used the feature in windows to wipe it from all files and reset it. But after it had run for about 10-11 hours the screen had just been black for about 6 hours, so i decided to turn it off, although it was still running, to see if that would help. Now when it boots, it just gets stuck at thLenovovo logo right when i boot it, without no signs of loading or anything, when i leave it there for some time, nothing happens. The NOVO button is not working, and i can't access the BIOS menu or Booting menu with any keyboard shortcuts. Unplugging it and removing the battery and holding the power button, then rebooting, also does nothing. I don't think anything is wrong with the hardware since it was running perfectly before i wiped it, but now it just gets stuck at the lenovo logo right when i boot it.Is it because windows did not get installed correctly, or some drivers were corrupted, or something with the BIOS (which i am not really sure what is, i do... Hi First of all...Happy New Year to everyone! My T61p isn't working.  I press the power on button and all I see is the "ThinkPad...To interrupt normal startup, press the blue ThinkVantage button..." screen.  I press the blue button and nothing happens. Questions: 1.  How do I get my computer working again? 2.   Is it possible to use the XP downgrade CD that came with my machine when my machine is in the state that i described above?  i would prefer to run XP Pro rather than Vista. 3.  I tried to do a HDD diagnostic exam through bios but I am not getting any where.  I entered bios through F1 and then selelct HDD diagnostic program and then selected Main hard drive disk drive.  I pressed enter and then a blank screen appeared and then it went back to the Hard disk drive selection screen (to select main hard disk drive or ultrabay hard disk drive).  I had someone look at my computer before doing this and i think they changed some settings on my bios to boot from CD (or maybe USB, can't remember).  How would i run the HDD diagnostic test? What should the bios settings be?  Some additional details: - OS is Vista ultimate (maybe with some service packs but not 100%)- computer is out of warranty as of summer 2009- i was able to remove the hard drive and read the contents on a another machine.  all my files appear to be present but i am not 100% certa...
