Does my ThinkPad X1 Yoga Have Bluetooth APTX?

Question: Does my ThinkPad X1 Yoga Have Bluetooth APTX?

Hello, I have a ThinkPad X1 Yoga (1st Gen) with the OLED screen. I love it. My question is does it have Bluetooth APTX built in? I can't seem to get an answer to this question so if anyone can help, that would be great. Thanks, Adi

Preferred Solution: Does my ThinkPad X1 Yoga Have Bluetooth APTX?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a Thinkpad W530. It has Bluetooth 4.0 but it doesn't say whether it has APTX support. I'd like to know if it does, and if not whether there's any way to add this functionality. I spoke to someone at Lenovo Tech Support and they told me they didn't know and I should post a question here (!). Thanks in anticipation for any help.

I recently acquired a Thinkpad yoga 15 laptop and while playing with the options I realised it completely lacked Bluetooth functionality. I have tried updating the Intel PROSet Bluetooth software, updating the network adapter drivers, disabling the adapter altogether and reenabling it through the BIOS. I don't know if the Bluetooth adapter is supposed to appear as a different adapter in the Device Manager or if only the Intel Dual-Band AC 7265 is supposed to show up (under the Advanced tab, Bluetooth is labeled as Active). No bluetooth option is present in the PC and devices options menu... I even reset to factory settings in case it was an issue with a third party program, but even there, same situation. Am I missing something? Please help me to get this feature working!

So I'm really at a loss with this issue.  I've done so much troubleshooting to no avail.  Removed soundcard and bluetooth and reinstalled.  Installed new drivers.  Deleting and repairing devices. Changing the WiFi to "Prefer 5.2GHz band".  Other troubleshooting based on discussions on other forums... The Problem. Brand new Thinkpad P71.  I have two of the same external speakers I've used with my iPhone via Bluetooth to stream audio and never had a problem.  The speakers are the Oontz 3XL. When I connect with my P71, it can go 24 hours or two minutes, but it will just suddenly stop playing audio.  The blue light on the speaker will turn off.  To get it to work again, I'll have to close the audio app and reconnect the Bluetooh.  Then it will run for anywhere from one minute to 24 hours and disconnect again. I also just bought a brand new Thinkpad X1 Yoga (2nd gen).  Exact same problem.  Did all the same troubleshooting. I mostly stream Sirius XM from a browser (and have tried different browsers as well).  I also play audio from iTunes.  The weird thing with iTunes is that when this happens, the Play/Pause button in the software will also stop working, unless I close the app and restart. It's definitely a Lenovo problem, since I am encountering the same problem on both systems.  I don't know if this could be related to BitDefender and/or Malware Bytes (both are inst... I am using a Windows 10 64-bit system and having bluetooth issues due to broken drivers. Reproduction:- go to Windows 10 settings- click on bluetooth- let the system search for devices- (optional) switch off and on the bluetooth in order to reset the search Error:Windows does not find any devices. No headset, no controller, no phone. It was different a while ago, I could connect all these devices without difficulties. It is a driver error for sure, as I also booted a Live CD with Arch Linux distro, loaded bluez and bluez-utils, activated the bluetooth.service and did a device search with scan on in bluetoothctl. It immediately found all devices. I did try drivers on your support page: http://support.lenovo.com/de/de/...I did try one for Windows 8.1 x64 and one for Windows 7 x64. I also tried the automatic installation through Lenovo System Update. These all did happen on clean installation of Windows 10, no other software installed. How am I supposed to get bluetooth back running on Windows 10 again?

Hi.

Do you see the Bluetooth recognized on the "Windows Device Manager"?
Since you booted Linux and bluetooth is working I don't think it may be a hardware issue like you said.

Just in case did you updated the BIOS from the support site of your model ? There are some updated on the BIOS related to Window 10 compatibility.

I'm not sure which Bluetooth device you have on it. Is it the one from Intel. Maybe you can an updated driver on the Intel site, or sometimes I use DriverEasy (not from Lenovo) to help me find a newer driver on their database.

I hope this helps in something.

Because we've had the machine for 2 years, it's very difficult to find any information on this. Any help would be greatly appreciated: I confirmed that we purchased a Lenovo ThinkPad EDGE 0301CTO with bluetooth -- but until now, we have not ever tried to use it. [We're running Windows 7 [64-bit] on it.] There is no Bluetooth Control Panel with which to add a device [in our case, a bluetooth mouse]. The only information I can find lists using the Fn+F5 key to access a window to enable it [yet, this was for a different model]. Using these keys doesn't bring up any such window. I would suppose adding a bluetooth mouse would be much less of an ordeal than this is becoming. I must be missing something. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Answer:Lenovo ThinkPad EDGE 0301CTO - Enabling Bluetooth and Adding Bluetooth Devices

Hi, musesupport

If you enter the BIOS of your machine by tapping Enter at the splash screen (screen that says Lenovo while starting up), there should be a tab called Security. Open this tab and then select I/O Port Access. Is there a Bluetooth setting in this list? If so, is it set to Enabled?

If the Bluetooth is set to Enabled, then I would recommend making sure all the drivers (Bluetooth, BIOS, and chipset, in particular) are up to date. All drivers for your machine can be found here.

Good luck, and let me know how it goes
Adam

Hello, through "Lenovo Update & Drivers" utility i installed ThinkPad update "THINKPAD Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software II 6.2.1.3100" which is bluetooth solution by BROADCOM corp which has much better user interface and detailed settings than implemented Microsoft W7 bluetooth solution named "MICROSOFT Bluetooth Enumerator". The problem is that after installation of this update on my Windows 7 there is still functional this "MICROSOFT Bluetooth Enumerator". I tried to disable it in "Device Manager" but after several restart of my computer nothing happened and this "MICROSOFT Bluetooth Enumerator" is still active. It seems that this "MICROSOFT Bluetooth Enumerator" came probably with some Windows actualization. The "THINKPAD Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software II 6.2.1.3100" is installed on my computer successfuly - i can see it in Programs. And "Device Manager" says that this service also works OK. Can anybody help me to get rid off MICROSOFT/Windows7 bluetooth solution ("MICROSOFT Bluetooth Enumerator"), please? Hallo!

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad Bluetooth Laser Mouse hakt und ruckelt seit Creators Update am Thinkpad P70 ...

I got the same problem.... But first let me translate this for everybody here.  My P70 (or in my case P71) has a problem to keep the connection estimated between the Lenovo mouse and my Laptop. Got the current driver installed.  The German guy above me got the same issue after the creators update.   I set everything Bluetooth related in Device Manager up to NOT let windows turn of the device to save power.  The mouse cuts out for 5 sec and comes back on. If you turn the mouse upside down during that time I noticed that the battery led toggles on and off. So it reboots. So I assume it's driver related to because it worked perfectly fine before on the L530 guys machine.

Hi,

When I connect Thinkpad Yoga (model 20CD00B1US) to the onelink dock, the stylus stops working.

In order to enable the stylus and Wacom driver following 2 options/ workarounds:
1)  Manually stop and restart the Wacom ISD Service
2) or reboot the machine while the Onelink dock is attached.

I'm using the latest 7.2.0-4 Wacom driver version, all latest lenovo software installed installed on the machine.

Both above mentioned workarounds are ugly, does anybody have a better suggestion to fix this issue?

I posted a similar question earlier and people referred me to the Yoga (much appreciated).  However, I was interested in the 2.6 lb carbon version with touch screen capabilities.  Asus has a Spin 7 model that is very good at 2.65lb, but I miss the red mouse toggle in the middle of the keyboard and Asus's track pad was designed too large....causing unintended tapping.  The Yoga, while nice, is heavier than I was looking for.  The 14 inch screen is about 3.3lb? the 12 inch at 3? I thought that some of the earlier Thinkpad Carbons had touch screen and was hoping they would make a return soon.  Thanks,

Hi, I am new to this site and wondering if I can get some advice. Hi chiakri.

I have a TPY 14 (20DM008UUS) and I'm happy with this model. I didn't not compare it to the TPY 12, but mine is working fine and have no issues. It didn't came with a pen, but it supports "Active pen", so I bought a Thinkpad Pen Pro and it worked fine.

I prefer to stick with the 14" screen but that is more about personal prefence. Maybe if you like to use it very much on tablet mode with a pen, possible the 12" will be more confortable to hold as a book.. but I'm just guessing.

I am hhaving difficulty finding an acceptable scaling mix between resolution, system scaling, and edge scaling. At 1080p, 125%, 125%, os navigation is mostly fine, but edge text is way too large. At 1080p, 125%, 100%, edge text is way too small. At all combinations text is inflated (but crisp) in certain elements while fuzzy in others. What scaling combinations work best for you? I am considering returning this to Best Buy and upgrading to a Pro 4 / Book, or even a Mac. The scaling is ruining an otherwise great experience.

Hey guys, I'm a PreMed student who's life revolves around his laptop. I'm always on social media, watching some show, listening to music, doing an essay, taking notes, updating some website, or emailing some person on campus. Of course, my old laptop broke. It was a Dell Inspiron. Now, I have a campus job and have been saving money(so money is not factor necessarily). After researching my options, I've narrowed my choices down to the three previously listed laptops. I just want to know which do you guys suggest and why?

Answer:Surface Book vs Lenovo Yoga 900 vs ThinkPad X1 Yoga

By looking at your requirement, you prefer on-the-go PC that lets you do all that on a decent budget, SP4 is better than SB(if you want lightweight device and decent battery life), Lenovo's are pretty good too. X1 w/o OLED seems to be a better buy in terms of ultraportability and battery life. You could wait for others to chime in.

Question: Dongle with AptX

Hi I have "Ruark MR1" speakers (Bluetooth) for my laptop and was told to get the best sound I need a "dongle with aptx" but when I put the dongle in my "Dell XPS L502X" laptop the speakers and dongle can't find each other so resulting in no sound

I looked in "playback devices" and the dongle is set as default ............?

Answer:Dongle with AptX

I've never used bluetooth, but based on what I've read, it's not truly universal. In other words, not all bluetooth devices work together. Which appears to be the problem that you are having. You will likely need to try a different brand/model of "dongle with aptx". Use a model recommended by "Ruark MR1" users, if possible.

I have two staff members with different Yoga models, but with the same pen issue. Say, for instance, OneNote is open. The pen doesn't draw or write, but it can select and still be recognized. When I try using an old stylus from an HP Elitebook, it works TOTALLY fine - even the button on the pen functions properly. This suddenly started after months of the Lenovo pens working fine. I thought maybe it was a driver issue, but it can't be as the HP pen works.... I'm thinking it's the pen itself just getting worn down? It looks okay though but may be just a little loose... Disclosure:  I received these laptops from Lenovo as part of their advocacy program, so huge thanks to the folks over at Lenovo. I don't receive compensation for my review, and as always, all opinions are my own.

The ThinkPad X1 Yoga is first modern ThinkPad that I've ever owned.  I?ve been using Lenovo?s Ideapad lineup for a very long time, and while I?ve used ThinkPads in the past, the X1 Yoga will be my first personal ThinkPad that I own.  So how does it stack up to the Yoga 910?  Let?s find out! I have the i7 UHD model of the Yoga 910 and the i5 FHD model of the ThinkPad X1 Yoga.  I tried out the latest Yoga 920, but I haven?t tried the latest X1 Yoga yet? hopefully, I will!

Hardware & Design
Even though both laptops carry ?yoga? in their name, the hardware behind them is vastly different.  The ThinkPad X1 Yoga has the classic ThinkPad black design, which is made of a carbon-fiber hybrid for the top cover and a magnesium-PPS hybrid for the bottom cover.  The Yoga 910 has a similar design from the Lenovo?s Yoga lineup, with an aluminum build throughout.

The ThinkPad only comes in two colors: classic black and silver; whereas the Yoga has a whole suite of colors to choose from, such as silver, copper, bronze, and even a few exclusive designs, such as the Vibe designs for the Yoga 920 and the Star Wars themed designs for the Yoga 910.

Just curious, why is the new Thinkpad X1 Yoga I7, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, FHD about $1,000 more than the similarly equipped commercial Lenovo 910?

Is it the ThinkPad brand name? The eraser nubbin? The 2 combined?

Just curious.

I've got a friend who needs a new laptop. She likes the touch/fold aspect of my 1st gen Thinkpad X1 Yoga. Do you all think she would be happy with the commercial Yoga 910?

Any real reason to get the new plain FHD ThinkPad X1 Yoga instead of the similarly equipped commercial Yoga available at Best Buy besides spending an extra $1000 for the ThinkPad brand name?

I've owned 6 various ThinkPads since 2011 FWIW. I get it, they're cream of the crop. But I kinda got sticker shock when I just priced out a plain FHD (and we need nothing more) X1 Yoga. About  $2,800, wow!

Opinions and advice -- no spam please (thank you!) -- welcome.

Best to everyone...

Answer:Why is the ThinkPad X1 Yoga $1,000 more than a similar Yoga 910?

@Jelks, The biggest difference I see between the X1 Yoga (2nd) and the Yoga 910 is active pen support which seems to be missing from the 910. You could use a capacitive stylus, but expect fingertip resolution, not pinpoint, and no pressure-sensitivity. Fewer USB ports: no HDMI or MicroSD; no Thunderbolt. No TPM module, if you need to store encrypted creditials, e.g., for BitLocker. Not sure about battery life; they claim up to 9 hours of local video for the 910 vs. up to 15 of MobileMark for the X1. Not an apple-to-apple comparison. You're not going to get the (soon to be patched, at least for now) security hole that is Intel's vPro management tech. You may not get Windows 10 Pro, possibly just Home (but you could always give Microsoft the money to upgrade if you need BitLocker or Remote Access). You're not going to get all the "mil-spec" design and testing etc, but if it's a personal machine, you're probably going to avoid abusing it. As you suggest, the "wave" keyboard -- including the trackpoint "eraser nubbin" -- is definitely going to be more expensive on the ThinkPad than the plain Yoga keyboard. I used two generations of ThinkPads (T61p and W520), but about 3 years ago I switched to a Dell XPS 13. A year or so ago, I ordered a X1 Yoga 1st gen for my wife and she likes it very much, so I am pretty familiar with the design and capabilities. TLDR: I think most people would be happy with the 910 vs. X1 unless they want the active pen. Als... I have recently bought a Thinkpad Yoga 460 with Thinkpad Pen Pro. I leave it in the laptop slot for charging for more than a day and it gives me only a few minutes of usage. As per the user guide, it should be 80% charge in 15 seconds and 100% after 5 minutes. But it runs out of charge very soon. It shows me the low battery level indicator as soon as I use it on the screen. First day of usage (appox 4 days ago) it gave me about 30 - 45 minutes of continuous. But after that not more than 5 minutes. Please let me know if this is an issue with the Pen or Laptop charging port. Is there any way I can troubleshoot it?Please also let me know the average usage time for the pen, if you are continuously using it.

Answer:Thinkpad yoga 460 - Thinkpad Pen Pro not charging ...

Hi
Welcome to the forums.

I do not have that kind of pen, but I think is the one that has some "bronce contacts" at the top of the pen. I had read some other post about it, just in case check that "contacts" to make sure they are touching with the charger when you put the pen into it's holder. Sometimes the contacts may move.

I just purchased a Yoga 11 refurb, but was wondering if BT is standard on these devices or an option. I thought I remember seeing BT listed in the spec sheet, but when I got the computer setup I don't see BT option. Thanks

Answer:Yoga 11 no bluetooth?

hi patlex,

If you have the Yoga 11 model that is listed on this pdf data sheet, then yes, it does come with a wireless+blluetooth combo adapter.

To check the adapter, can you try to:
1. Open device manager and check the bluetooth device

2. If the device is there, try to press the F7 (or Fn+F7) and see if you can enable bluetooth.
3. Alternatively, press Windows+C > Settings > Change PC Settings and under the Wireless Menu, see if you can toggle the bluetooth option. (screenshots here)

Let me know your findings.

ThinkPad P50 sale page say Thinkpad P50 comes with  "Wireless-AC 8260" with Bluetooth® 4.1 http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/p-series/p50/  But following Intel  Product page say  "Wireless-AC 8260" comes with Bluetooth® 4.2  ( You can find same on dell workstaion laptop)   http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/product-briefs/dual-band-wireless-ac-826...  So which one is right? What is actual Thinkpad p50 Bluetooth version?

Answer:Thinkpad P50 Bluetooth 4.1 OR 4.2

I'll check into this as it appears to be a valid question.  The info I have says 4.1, as does the P50 tech specs on the website.

Note though that even Intel is wishy-washy on what it's claiming on the 8260.  On the product brief (in your link), you can see that the top paragraph calls out BT 4.1, yet in the feature list, it mentions BT 4.2.

I suspect the right answer here is 4.1 (and maybe 4.2 would be "supported" by Intel through some sort of software update), but I'll try to confirm.

I bought this used SL510 Thinkpad in 2015; it states on the bottom that it's a basic model.  The fullmodel no. is: LVK-TPZ-2847(B). It's operating systm is Windows 10 which lists Bluetooth in the"Settings" menu under "Devices."  However there's no mention of Blutooth on either the adhesive (white paper) sticker or the larger (black) label under that.  I checked the "Device Manager" list for Bluetooth but it's not listed nor is there any mention of it on the drop-down list for the WI-FI networks in my vicinity. The particular audio device I want to pair this SL510 Thinkpad with is an "LG-LAP340 SoundPlate", other info. on the box it was in: (DUSALLK) 421S1547-CMB. The manufacturing date is February, 2014.  I did call their tech. support dept., she seemed too give two different answers. And yes, I did have the Sound plate on with "Bluetoth'' enabled. Is tere any software I can download from your website or maybe Microsoft to enable "pairing" between this laptop & this sound plate or do I need to buy a USB adapter for Bluetooth?                    Signed, Ron Haag ([email protected])

Answer:Does the ThinkPad have Bluetooth?

Hello and welcome,

Not all SL510 models had Bluetooth.  I'm not familiar with the LVK-TPZ-2847 model format, although 2847 looks like the base of the MT-M.  More used to seeing things like 2847-QJU for example.

If you can find an MT-M like that on the laptop try entering it in the search box in SUPPORT above.  If it's recognized there should be a machine info drop-down that could tell you something.

You can also have a look at the withdrawn products PSREF doc for SL510s:  ThinkPad SL and Edge Notebooks; 2009 to 2013 (withdrawn models)

Yoga 2 Pro, Windows 8.1. My battery ran flat.  When I powered it back up and charged it (no problem there), my Microsoft Bluetooth mouse didn't work.  In troubleshooting, I found NO BLUETOOTH icon in the toolbar, no Bluetooth in the Device manager.  I had been using the bt136w8164 drivers from the Lenovo web site.  I reinstalled them but still no BT appeared.  I tried uninstalling them, then reinstalling - no luck.  Then tried to install the latest bt247w81 drivers from Lenovo - no luck.  There is no Bluetooth line in the Devices listing, nothing in Device Manager.  The OS isn't seeing or loading the BT drivers.  I used the default locations during installation and I have not moved any locations.  Everything else works normally.  What is going on??

Yoga 13 Bad Wi-Fi and Bluetooth ? almost giving up (and giving back) I have purchased the Yoga 13 a week ago, and everything was fine. EXCEPT, I experienced problems to connect to the public Wi-Fi. I get  5 seconds of Wi-Fi connected, and then 5 seconds of "limited connection", and again "connected" for 5 sec., "limited" for 5 sec., and so on. I convinced myself it was because of the large number of people connected at the place I have been at. But now I am sitting here, with just a few people, and it seems they are all connected well, and only I get the 5 seconds cycle.  But it wasn't for this issue that I started to feel frustrated with my 1 week old Lenovo Yoga. It's the Bluetooth issue that really bothers me. I am trying to use Microsoft Notebook Bluetooth 5000 mouse. I have to use it, since I have to use both USBs for other devices. At first it worked fine. Just the random disconnections everyone on the net are talking about. I tried everything: I set the power management of the realtek  rtl8723A chip so it won't be able to turn off the BT. I also set the BT to automatically search for devices under services.msc management, which supposed to help reconnection after sleep. Each time it seemed like the problem was solved, until the next time it randomly disconnected. So I have updated my machine. First, I've updated the BIOS from CN52 to CN55. I don't know if it's relevant, but I mention it anyway. Them I've updated the realtek drivers, according to th... Read more

Hi all,Just bought my Yoga yesterday and am thoroughly enjoying it. A problem I encountered was when trying to pair the Bluetooth to a Belkin A2DP receiver (essentially, it appears as a Bluetooth audio headset to the computer). Audio quality sent to the speaker is very poor. I verified that the Belkin unit was functioning properly by pairing two other Bluetooth devices and having no issues with audio playback. I also updated to the latest RealTek Bluetooth driver on Lenovo's website. Still with bad audio quality. Any suggestions appreciated :-)

Answer:Yoga 13 - Bluetooth audio

Hi HummerMan3,

Thanks for posting. Sorry hear about the issues you're facing.

I too have a yoga I do agree it is a superb machine. In regards to the bluetooth Audio, Personally I have not tested the bluetooth or the Bluetooth Audio. I was just wondering when you mentioned the audio being really poor, do mean that the sound distorts or does the sound does not play loudly? How about when playing normally on the laptop? Do still get the same results.

Sorry for the list of question, but just wanted to be sure what exactly I'm dealing with.

Do let me know.

Hello,I have had a Yoga 2 Pro (Win 8.1) for over a year now.  A couple months ago I purchased a Microsoft Arc Touch Bluetooth mouse. Ever since I've been in a bluetooth twilight zone of bizarre behavior.  It will work and then cut out.  Some times it will be recognized but not work at all.  Other times it will be recognized and not pair properly.  I've combed through the forums and have tried:- Switch the settings to prevent the computer from shutting off the device due to power management (this did help but did not solve all of the problems).- Upgraded to the newest Lenovo driver on the Lenovo website (installed but refused to recognize any bluetooth device).- Uninstalled and upgraded to the newest driver on the Intel website (crashed when trying to install)- Uninstalled and reversed back to original Lenovo driver on D drive.- I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the wifi driver.  The first time this worked... the second time nothing. So where am I now?   All of the devices show up fine in the Device Manager.  The mouse is discoverable but won't pair. And I guess I'm out of ideas as to what to try next.  From reading the forums I guess it seems like I'm not the only one suffering from bluetooth issues with the Yoga 2 Pro.  But thought that I might as well post to see if perhaps there is someone out there who has an idea that I haven't already tried. Or perhaps someone from Lenovo could reply... I'm currently having various problems with the internal Intel® Dualband-Wireless-N 7260 used for wireless lan and bluetooth. First, windows used the generic bluetooth driver, and bluetooth worked just fine. However with this driver the wlan couldn't handle wireless connections >54mbit/s. When I turned bluetooth off it worked without any problem. It seemed like a bluetooth AND a strong wlan connection (f.e. 300mbit/s) was too much.  After installing the latest intel bluetooth driver specific for this hardware (3.1.1311) the wireless lan works now fine with another bluetooth connection. However, now the bluetooth devices range is way too low. Using my headset I now have around 40cm of range, when I turn my head it looses the connection (no sound until I turn it back). With an usb bluetooth adapter I have a range of 10m and more.  Anyone else with this problem?I tried both wireless lan drivers v17 and v16.10.0.

Just wondering if anyone has encountered this problem: Occationally when waking the unit from sleep the Bluetooth device stops working. It appears in the Device manager with an "!" on it, but when I disable and re-enable it it works again for a day or two before it happens again. It's not an end of the world sort of problem, but it's kind of annoying. I want to know if I'm the only one, or if it might be a driver issue that needs to be addressed?

Answer:Yoga 13 - Bluetooth issue

hi dumiller, thanks for posting. I was just wondering how long do leave your machine to sleep before waking it up? I too have a yoga but I must admit that I've not used the BT. But however I did face some similar with the wireless. After waking from sleep it has trouble connecting to the wireless. But it turn out that I just needed to be a little patient with the machine as it had to re-establish the wireless connection. It may be the same with the bluetooth.

However, you may also want to consider checking you bluetooth propeties by unchecking specific power saving propeties. This can be done by following the guide bellow.

Go to you bluetooth properties and click on the Bluetooth Tab.
Once there Click on BlueTooth Settings. (See illustrations below)

A new window should have appeared.
Click on the "Hardware" tab.
In the hardware tab select "RTL8723A 4.0+High Speed Chip"
Click on the "Properties Button" Below. (See Illustration below)

On you've clicked on the "Properties" button another window should appear.
Click on the "Power Management" Tab
Ensure to uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" and "Allow this device to wake the computer." (See illustration below)

hope this helps and do let me on how it goes.

Hi,Just purchased and received a P40 Yoga.  Nicely equipped and a very nice machine.I am having two issues out of the box so far, the first of which is problems with Bluetooth. I am using bt to connect to Microsoft Designer mouse and keyboard.  I'm able to connect fine initially and use mouse and keyboard.  Also able to connect to other devices like my iphone, etc no problem. But then at seemingly random times, though it always happens in any extended use of the computer, at least once per hour or so, the mouse and keyboard (and seemingly all bt communication) stop responding.  I can look at the windows bt settings and it still shows as connected but nothing is registering.  When the bt seemingly freezes like this it also does not find any new devices to connect to even when they are discoverable.  Each time this has happened I've tried turning bt off and back on and then reconnecting but no success.  BUT, if I turn airplane mode on ( so turn both bt and wifi off) then the mouse and keyboard will function again.  I've tried turning just the bt off and it seems to not want to switch to off, the toggle will go to off but then switch back to on on its own but still not able to connect.  But if I click the toggle in the bt settings menu a few times, eventually it will turn off and stay off, and then if i turn bt back on again the peripherals start to work again.  Also, if I switch into airplane mode, to turn bt and wifi off, ... WiFi and Bluetooth share the 2.4Ghz band, so they may be conflicitng.   If you can move your Wifi to 5Ghz, it might help, as they would be on a different freqency, but you need a WiFi router and WiFi card that supports it.     Try switching channels on your WiFis too.

Answer:Does my ThinkPad Edge come with bluetooth?

hello there,Yes, as a matter of fact, it does. I faced the exact same problem today.Click the "Wireless connections" button (shared with F9), a large-ish window called "Wireless radios" will appear.Pull down the arrow next to "Individual control" just below. You will probably see that 802.11 Wireless is green but Bluetooth is greyed out. Click it, it should turn green. If you're lucky (I wasn't), your device manager will say that the BT is right there and running. If you have a warning sign next to it, though, this is what you need to do:Right-click the BT entry, select "update driver" and wait until it finds, downloads, and installs new drivers. For me, the whole process took about 2-3 minutes. After that, your BT should become fully active, and you will be able to connect your mouse / printer / phone / whatever.Good luck, wyrm

Answer:Thinkpad Edge 430 Bluetooth

Hi, aaaaa

Your machine should have Bluetooth capability. I would first recommend making sure the driver for your Bluetooth device is up to date, which can be found here.

Once that is updated, you should be able to scan for devices by navigating to Settings ? Change PC settings ? Devices and selecting Add a device. If your goal is to connect your computer and mobile phone together, then make sure that Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile phone. If you continue to lack the Add a device in this menu, could you please take a screenshot with Snipping Tool and post it here?

Thanks in advance,
Adam

It seems that Bluetooth is disabled or otherwise does not exist on my shiny new Thinkpad Helix. You can see that there no listing in Device Manager, and the option to enable it is grayed out: http://i.imgur.com/yXcXdG6.png I have already tried installing new drivers, but the installation fails because the installer does not recognize that I have a bluetooth device on my computer. Is this a known issue, and is there anything that I can do to fix this other than send it back? Hello, I am using Windows 10. I have just wasted about 2 hours of my day trying to find bluetooth settings. I don't see a help file anywhere, and I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. Three things to note about what I have already encountered
1) There are no bluetooth settings in the control panel. I have access to some kind of "Add Device" icon which does absolutely nothing.

2) I cannot use Fn+F5 function keys or any other function keys. I think in my case it is actually Fn+F6. Unfortunately, when I try to download Lenovo Settings to update my hotkeys (why isn't this already installed?) the Microsoft Store Launches and then closes immediately. I can search for just about any other app without a problem. In fact, it would appear that there is no mirror for this download! How unique! Too bad it doesn't work.

3) There is no bluetooth icon in the taskbar.

I also could not find any bluetooth settings in the device manager, even though bluetooth is apparently enabled in BIOS.

At this point I have no idea how to address the problem, except that I want my computer to be discoverable. Clicking on Add Device has come up short when trying to pair.

Windows 10 appears to have a great variety of bluetooth issues related to the manufacturer of the hardware. As a former Mac user, this makes absolutely no sense to me. For example, today I plugged in my ethernet cable and a little icon popped up in the taskbar. It just wo... Read more

Answer:Bluetooth Driver for R60 Thinkpad

Hi,

This works for me:  SUPPORT (above) -> Quick Path (enter "R60") -> select R60 from list -> Drivers and Software.

There are several options in the Bluetooth + Modem section.  Does one of those work for you?

Hi everyone... I just bought my Thinkpad T550 and I was unsuccessful in trying to send some files from my mobile to laptop via bluetooth. The problem is that I can manage to sent files from computer to mobilephone. I have checked bluetooth connections, installed  driver on both devices and everything seems to be just fine. Any idea why this action is not possible??? Thank you in advance. Gorjan

Answer:Thinkpad T550 - Bluetooth

When you have the two linked, use the Windows search function for the file fsquirt.exe.  Run that. It should ask you whether you want to send or receive, and then facilitate the transfer.

Hello everyone! So I've got that lenovo yoga 710-14IKB Notebook recently, and I've got little problems with my bluetooth. I've been trying to connect my bluetooth headset to the notebook, and the quality of sound was very bad so i thought that updating bluetooth drivers might work. I installed some of the newest ones and now my computer doesn't see bluetooth at all. I've tried to do everything, installing every driver possible, uninstalling them and back again. I even did recovery whole system by that OneKey Recovery tool. Still nothing. There is nothing related to bluetooth in device menager and even when i tried to add legacy hardware - nothing related to bluetooth, i tried to look up to services and see if there is something that could help, found something like Bluetooth support service which was turned off, so i turned it on, set it to automatic but it doesn't seem to be working either. I really don't know what happened. It seems for me like i had accidentally turned off whole bluetooth card or something. Please help :x

I've seen several notes here and in other forums about bluetooth disconnects on the Y2P.  I had this issue with a MS Sculpt Comfort mouse (http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/p/sculpt-comfort-mouse).   I tried removing the pre-installed bluetooth driver and allowing Windows to find me one.  Same problem.  Then I downloaded the driver from Lenovo (currently bt136w8164.exe).   After reinstalling this manually the mouse was recognized immediately and I haven't had an issue since. FYI.  Hope this helps.

Today I installed the latest win 10 updates, my laptop previously came with win 8, I had upgraded to win 10 without issue. After installing and rebooting the laptop several times, the bluetooth does not work, it does not show up in device manager. I checked in the show hidden items on control panel as well, still nothing. I cannot find bluetooth anywhere in settings anymore. It was working fine immediately before the update. I have tried the offical lenovo bluetooth drivers, neither work, after installation they simply say that no device is found for this software. Any help would be appreciated

I have a Yoga 13 (Windows 8) and a Lenovo Thinkpad Bluetooth keyboard.  The keyboard disconnects from the computer every few minutes.  Sometimes it reconnects on its own after 30 seconds or so.  Sometimes it needs to be restarted and sometimes it won't reconnect for several minutes despite numerous restarts. I have replaced the keyboard.  The new keyboard behaves exactly the same way.I have replaced the wireless card.  No improvement. It is possible that the new wireless card is also defective. I have tried to update drivers, although the drivers for the keyboard still seem to be dated June 2006, which seems an awfully long time ago. Any ideas?  Lenovo seems stumped (or just does not want to help diagnose the problem).  I do have onsite service.

I am using a Microsoft Bluetooth Sculpt mouse with a Yoga 13 and every couple of minutes the mouse pointer starts to wander and does not follow the mouse movements. This corrects itself after 30-50 seconds but then this recurs every few minutes. I have reinstalled the 23 October 2012 Wireless LAN and Bluetooth drivers and the Microsoft mouse control software but the problem persists. I don't have any other mouse drivers installed (except the standard Yoga trackpad). I have checked that there are no other Bluetooth devices active on the Yoga or even anywhere around.  Is there anything I can do to find out what is causing this problem? Thanks, Ken

Answer:Yoga 13 Bluetooth mouse problem

hi ken,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Can you try the following::
1. Press F6 to permanently disable the built-in Touchpad and try to use the mouse
2. If the problem happens when the AC adapter is plugged-in, try to unplug the charger and use the battery as a power source and test the bluetooth mouse (vice versa)

If the problem persist,
3. Uninstall the Bluetooth drivers from the Control Panel > Programs and reboot. When the unit boots back into Windows 9, it will use the generic blueooth drivers. Try to pair the Bluetooth mouse and check if the issue still happens.

Let me know your findings

Cheers

Hi NHertz,

Welcome to the Lenovo Community,

I?d like to guide you to add a device for your Bluetooth devices,

Step1: Please open the charm menu (by pressing on windows button and letter c together and then you will get the charm menu)

Step2: Choose Devices from the left panel and then press on Add a device and it will be searching for devices and then press on your device name,

Step3: You are supposed to get a message on your device and the laptop asking to press yes (pair) to accept the connection.

Hope the information helps. Let us know.

I just received my bluetooth keyboard for the Yoga 10.  The keyboard touch is very nice and the function keys will be useful.  My complaint is that every time the Yoga 10 goes to sleep I have to manually reconnect the keyboard using the bluetooth settings?  Is this normal?

Windows 10 - just got the Fall update (enterprise build) a few days ago. All was fine, and in the middle of work, my external mouse stopped working. I toggled BT off/on in windows settings, then the toggle disappeared. All BT devices say not connected.  Went to Device Manager and removed the BT device, rebooted multiple times, no BT device returned. Under USB I have Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)  Under Evens for the device I see Device USB\VID_0000&PID_0002\5&3b98e95f&0&7 was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match.Last Device Instance Id: USB\VID_046D&PID_C52D\5&3b98e95f&0&1Class Guid: {36FC9E60-C465-11CF-8056-444553540000}Location Path:Migration Rank: 0xF000FFFFFFFFF120Present: falseStatus: 0xC0000719 This may be unrelated, but I thought i saw some reference to part of this as a Realtek BT driver.  I tried installing the Lenovo BT driver for my laptop, and even pointed the USB device at c:\drivers\win\intelbt that was downloaded but no luck. Is my BT module failed? Any other ideas? I see no keyboard controls for BT and nothin in the BIOS.
