I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: yoga 900... USB Type-C to HDMI Adapter

Hello and welcome,

If you mean HDMI, I realized I hadn't ever checked if the sound works. Just plugged it into my Samsung TV. Got a movie playing now and sound works fine.

This is the adapter I'm using. There are others but this one is working for me.

I fought this problem all day and I think I have it narrowed down. System is Lenovo Yoga 900 i7 with Windows 10 with all latest updates. Application is Citrix Receiver 4.5. When using Quickbooks with the Citrix Receiver, mouse clicks are disabled/not recognized.  All keyboard inputs still work, the mouse arrow tracks correctly, but mouse clicks seem to be ignored.  This behavior occurs when booting to dual monitor setup with HDMI adapter in the USB Type-C port; booting to single monitor (Yoga), then plugging the HDMIR adapter in the USB Type-C port.  The only resolution is to boot to single monitor (Yoga) and work in single monitor mode exclusively.  I am using the USB Type-C to HDMI adaptor purchased from Lenovo.  This occurs with the Yoga trackpad AND occurs with my USB wireless mouse. Also note with native Windows applications, the mouse works fine with both  monitors connected and active. I really bought the HDMI adaptor to use two monitor with the Citrix Receiver.  I have tried to Google this problem, but I'm unable to find a Citrix Receiver support site/forum that would be appropriate for this question. Any advice appreciated.

I have an XPS 12 9250 with an external Dell Adapter USB Type C to HDMI/VGA/Ethernet/USB 470-ABQN.  This adapter is working for Ethernet and VGA, but the USB port is not working.  I suspect that I need the correct drivers installed.  When I plug in my windows phone or my android phone, both devices show that they are charging, but windows 10 does not indicate that it sees the devices.  If I plug in an external keyboard to the adapter's USB port, windows 10 does not react, and the keyboard lights do not come on (keyboard works fine on 2 other computers).
So, I'm pretty sure I've installed all the latest drivers that are listed on support.dell.com for the xps 12 9250, but it's hard to tell as there seem to be scores of them.
Is anyone else having this problem?  Can anyone tell me which specific drivers I need to get USB working?  Thank you

I have a Yoga Pro 3 I purchased here in the US a couple of months ago.  This summer I'll be moving to Moldova (eastern Europe) with the Peace Corps and plan to take my Yoga with me. Moldova has 220-240V Type C power outlets.  Ideally, I'd like to purchase a power adapter for my Yoga that is already configured with a Type C plug.  The US Lenovo customer service staff can't seem to tell me if I can buy one. I know Germany also uses Type C but I don't see the option to buy the 40W power adapter on their site. The below adapter is available on the UK site but I'm not sure UK adapters are compatible with Type C outlets:http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/gbweb/LenovoPortal/en_GB/catalog.workflow:item.detai... Does anyone out there who travels to Europe or owns a Yoga Pro 3 in Europe have any tips on buying a native adapter?  If I need to use a convertor I will... I'm just trying to cut down on the accessories I have to carry with me.

Answer:Yoga 900-13ISK: No image on second monitor using USB-C to HDMI adapter

I have connected via the USB type C adapter to a Dell U2410. However the connection appears to be intermittent, as if port requires a timing response peridically to maintain the connection. It appears as a loss of HDMI connection on the monitor approx. 1/minute (for a about 2-3 seconds), then recovers without intervention.

I am using a usb-c to hdmi adapter to output to a TV but the black levels look washed out. I had no issues with the same TV and a previous laptop that had a dedicated hdmi port. In the intel graphics settings usually there is a "quantization range" setting to change color space between RGB Limited and RGB Full if the intel graphics is driving the hdmi port. However, in this case, there is no hdmi port but instead a usb-c to hdmi adapter, thus the quantization range setting is missing. I've had the same issue before on a previous laptop with usb-c. I've tried installing thel atest drivers, including the non-validated ones from the intel website, but none give me the quantization range setting.

Having an issue with my X1 Yoga  riinning Win10 64-bit and all firmware & drivers are up to date. I often plug in an HDMI screen to my machine and when I do and step away for a few mins the screen goes blank to save power etc. When I return and click these or hit a key the backlight on the laptop comes back on but no image is displayed on either the laptop nor the HDMI monitor. If I unplug the HDMI cable then the laptop screen comes back perfectly and then I can plug the HDMI back in and get the image back on my larger monitor. This seems much different issue then the "blank screen" I read up on and appears to be a detecing from sleep state issue in the driver etc. Anyone else have this? Any fixes for this as I'm plugging the HDMI in/out/in 5 times a day or more... This never occured in the past so appears to be an update issue.

I purchased an external monitor on Friday.  It worked on Friday and Saturday. Sunday when I booted up, the external monitor no longer worked. The history appears to show an automatic update occurred overnight.  I was running Windows 8.1.  I upgraded to 10.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the intel video driver, I reinstalled the chipset driver.  I have trimmed the micro HDMI cord as suggested in one of the posts.  I have seen enough posts on the various boards to know my issue does not seem to be an isolated case... but I haven't been able to find an explanation of the cause or a reliable solution.  Any help is appreciated.

Hello, I would love to ask for some help!
I've recently purchased the newer Dell XPS 13 9360 Non-touch (not the 2 in 1) and am having some trouble with using an external monitor. The screen (on the external monitor) keeps on flickering and has a very unstable connection.
I've searched and found that apparently lowering the power output of the WIFI network adapter can fix this problem.
The problem is that the current XPS's wifi adapter doesn't allow the power output to be changed. The previous fixes were geared towards intel wifi adapters.
The general power settings for the computers doesn't show wifi card power controls.

I have updated all the drivers for the computer including the wireless adapter. Still the options doesn't change.

Has anyone found a way to get a stable external monitor to work with the Killer Wireless Adapter cards?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
-JDed

Answer:XPS 13 9360 External Monitor Flicker with USB C - HDMI Adapter [Killer Wireless Adapter]

For what it's worth: For me (XPS 13 9360, QHD, i7, 16 GB, Killer WiFi), external screens are perfectly stable, even with wireless being on relatively high throughput load, albeit not high power (energy) load.
I am connecting both HDMI and DisplayPort displays, each with cheap native USB-C adapters (i.e. through Thunderbolt). I also have full success with a Dell DA200, through its built-in HDMI graphics adapter.

I am a very frustrated and angry customer at the moment as i keep running into Road Block and unacceptable answers.  This issue is enough to cause me to never buy another Lenovo laptop or any laptop at Best Buy!I bought my computer in July and in September i noticed a key had popped off-  the "< ," key next to the M key.  I have used the key board only when i was setting up-  now at my office and at customers i set it in downward dog mode ;-) and use a blue tooth key board.    So it is not from use that it broke.   I took the laptop into BEST BUY and was told that the key was missing a metal part on the back so they could not fix it onsite-  i would have to send it in and be without my laptop for a week to 10 days - unacceptable -  this was a month or more ago. I searched on the LENOVO website and could not find a way to purchase a single or the entire set of Keys!  I am self employed as a software consultant.   My life is pretty busy and i finally decided today to bite the bullet and ask for a call from Lenovo support.  Again i am told the only way to fix this is to send my laptop in for a repair.  I asked to just be able to buy a KEY - i am told that well they do not sell individual keys - they would replace the entire keyboard!  So sell me the keyboard and or send me one an i will take into best buy to have them replace it while i wait.  They cannot do that.   I live... This is a common problem (I see lots of posts)
The problem source is the [Dell] AC adapter.  PA-21 Family, 65W, P/N: NX061.  It is made in China.
I have an XPS M1330.  Using Dell after warranty service, replaced the Mother Board twice, replaced the battery twice, replaced the AC adapter twice - not fixing it.
Turns out the power warning message is very informative.  It states "Please connect a Dell 65W AC adapter or greater for best system performance".  So, I plugged in my Dell 95W adapter - WOW Problem Solved.
A lab test of my new Dell 65W AC adapter shows it to be 64.6 watts.  If this unit gets hot (like after several hours of use), it may not put out the full 65 watts - the system may not recognize the adapter, it may power the system ok, but won't charge the battery.
These units burn out after only a few months of use. Their cables are too fragile. If Dell's or their supplier's Quality Control can't produce a reliable 65W product - I found seveal "Made In USA" universal adapters.

Answer:AC Adapter - Alert - "AC power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined"

Well my solution was simple.
I just removed the battery pack and powered up my notebook. Then I turned off the notebook replaced the battery pack and VOILA. The error message was gone.

Answer:Lenovo y50. What type of HDMI Cable will work?

I have only seen 2 types of HDMI ports on laptops.
They are either regularly sized or the mini sized. You can tell the difference immediately.

I hope you are not trying to insert HDMI inside a USB port (or not trying to insert it upside down). Your laptop should have an HDMI port on the left side next to the Ethernet port. (Between Ethernet and USB port)

Is there an image quality difference between if I use HDMI to DP or DP to HDMI adapter?
a,5870nd both will work with Eyeinfinity, yes?

Answer:HDMI to DP or DP to HDMI adapter?

No, there is no loss of quality using DisplayPort to HDMI or to another interface. I don't think there is a HDMI to DP adapter.

Eyefinity requires that all monitors beyond the second one are connected through a DP port, but an adapter can be used.

I have a 24" DVI monitor but I only have a computer with a VGA and HDMI port. Will using a dvi to HDMI adapter work or is there another solution.

Answer:dvi to hdmi adapter

Generally, using a DVI to HDMI should be fine, although you should note you will not get any sound from the DVI itself. It really just depends on what screen you have, and how compatible it is. For example, on my old computer, all I had was a DVI and VGA. Because my TV was off-brand (all it had was 3 HDMIs), it wasn't able to decode the converted DVI to HDMI and thus wouldn't display anything. But for an actual computer monitor, you should be OK.

Having said that, there are two types, active and passive. The type you get will depend on your configuration. For a three monitor configuration, for example, you will want an active converter.

I have a U510 with the useless mini-VGA and no adapter has worked for that, so now I am looking for a good HDMI to VGA adapter. What is a good one for under $40? (Online or at Best Buy, RadioShack, or Staples)Thanks!

Answer:The best HDMI to VGA adapter

There's no such thing as a HDMI to VGA adapter. HDMI is purely digital signal, while VGA is pure analog signal. You'd have to get a converter that not only could change the shape of connector, but also decode digital sitnal and encode is as analog one. I don't even know if anybody makes such a thing. Why would you use VGA anyway? HDMI is superior in quality and functionality. VGA is susceptible to e-m noise too.EDIT: Ok I did look it up, and there are HDMI to VGA converters. I must admit I'm surprised. Still, I'd avoid it if possible. If you do need it, I can't recommend one as I never used one, but maybe using the one you can get from Lenovo might be a good idea?http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/catalog.workflow:item.detail?...

HI,  I have an hp envy laptop (m6-aq005dx) and it has a usb-c port. I wanted to display a second output monitor. I have already used my hdmi port so i thought the hp usb-c to hdmi adapter would work for my laptop since there was no software or drivers needed. Anyays, it is not working. everytime i plug in the display adapter, it says the connection may not work, try another cable. I have tried several hdmi cables, and even the adapter by itself. Is my laptop not compatible? i have also tried a few different display drivers for my laptop. When looking into the device manager, is shows up as a usb adapter but with error. I'm thinking that  my port is only meant to give output and not input. If so, what are other alternatives to output to two monitors..

Bought a USB C to HDMI adapter. Works on three different monitors with both a (7th gen) Razer Blade Stealth and a Yoga 900 Signature Edition but not a brand new Yoga 910 (with UHD panel.) Using the same cable for all; it's HDMI 2.0 just in case. All drivers, BIOS, firmware is up to date on the 910. Validated basic USB functionality on the 910 port with a USB C to A adapter (i.e. USB headphones work just fine.)  Tried both the Lenovo graphics drivers and the most up to date generic Intel graphics drivers; (neither work so I reverted back to Lenovo drivers.) I'd like to get 4k working eventually but right now not even 1080p output to external is working. Tried all display scaling options. In the Intel HD Graphics control panel, the device does seem to recognize the model of the external monitor, but it's not outputting anything (i.e. when I switch to clone or extended desktop, it immediately sets itself back to single display mode.) Any ideas? Thank you!

Hoping someone can help to resolve my HDMI output woes.I have an external ASUS monitor that was working fine on HDMI - I have a micro HDMI to HDMI converter, and did all the shaving a millimeter off stuff..... Suddenly after I updated the lenovo video driver to the latest one (there may have been some automatic windows updates too), the HDMI connection is not working. IT tries to output something to the external monitor - the screen is black and flickers slightly, but after about 15s, my monitor just says - NO HDMI SIGNALNow, the odd thing is that I also have a micro HDMI to VGA connector, and this works absolutely fine - so I know there is decent HDMI output actually coming out of the port. I thought it might be an issue with my micro HDMI to HDMI converter, so I -1) Checked the HDMI to HDMI cable with another device - this was good2) went and bought a new micro HDMI to HDMI cable (think the spec was 54GBs) - but the issue remained. Now the odd thing is this, when the micro HDMI to VGA cable is in and working, wwhen I right-click on the desktop and go to screen resolution, it says monitor 2 is something called "VE228" and I can adjust the resolution. When I plug the micro HDMI to HDMI in, it just says "Display Device on VGA", with a fixed resolution of 1280x720.Both are going to the same monitor through HDMI. Can anyone help to resolve this? Are their different types of HDMI cables (I think there is a 24 pin one and an 18 pin) does this make a difference? ... Read more

I'm thinking of buying a Yoga 2 Pro. One of the things I would like to be able to do is hook it up to my 4K television and run it natively at 4K. Does anyone know if this is possible via the HDMI port? My understanding is that 4K @ 60 Hz is probably not possible, but I'm hoping that at least 4K @ 24Hz will be? I'll only be using it to watch videos so I don't need an ultra smooth desktop experience. My TV is a Vizio P602ui-b3.

I am planning on making this project myself but first I have one question. Here is the project I will be making:
http://siliconrepublic.blogspot.com.au/2011/02/arduino-based-pc-ambient-lighting.html

It says I need a 12V DC supply for powering the breadboard. When searching up for 12V DC supplies, I only get power supply's that plug into the wrong wall socket (I live in Australia).
Do I need to get something like the article suggests:
http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-AC-Veh...1KZ6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1297231222&sr=8-2

Or can I get something such as this:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DC-12V-1...?pt=AU_Laptop_Accessories&hash=item336678ae52
If the first option is the only possibility, how do I get the plug to go into my wall socket?
Also, how do I get the other end plugged into the breadboard when the product just has a single plug on the end?

Answer:What type of power adapter do I need?

You can use the Ebay adaptor, the easiest way to get 2 wires is to get a socket that fits the plug, like this one :- http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/5-5-x-2-...05?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item4167b5b34d and solder 2 wires to that socket.

The circuit at your link uses a 2 wire plug into the breadboard, you would have to get a similar plug OR you could push bare wires into the breadboard.

OR you could cut the plug off to reveal the 2 wires but they will probably be quite thin and may not connect well if pushed into the breadboard holes.

I had to replace the power cord (from the outlet to the box) on my AC adapter. It worked fine for awhile; but now I'm getting this message on boot up. "Warning. The AC adapter type cannot be determined. This will prevent optimal system performance. Please check AC adapter is connected properly. Remove AC adapter and plug it in again." I tried plugging it in again several times to no avail. Then my virus program (Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 14) popped up a window to start in Safe Mode to fix the problem. I know how to start in Safe Mode but don't know what to do once I'm in there. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi, I have a Toshiba laptop that doesn't have a HDMI port.
I bought a HDMI cable and a VGA to HDMI adaptor so that I could watch things from the laptop on the TV.
I've connected them all to each other and selected 'connect to another display' from the control panel, but my TV still just says 'no signal'.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be or what I should do to fix it?

Not too long ago, I bought a VGA to HDMI converter to connect my laptop to my TV, but I wasn't able to get it to work, and the tech support guy I talked to from Monoprice's chat suggested it was probably incompatible with my TV, so I had it returned, and then I bought this on the recommend of the same guy: http://www.monoprice.com/products/p..._id=1011403&p_id=8079&seq=1&format=2&rep=mike

But the problem is, I hooked it up, installed the drivers, and still I'm not getting any picture on my TV screen. I have the input set to the correct station. Everything's installed correctly. And I even reinstalled the drivers from the website of the company that produces the adapter. Still nothing.

Do you guys have any ideas? Because I've spent a lot of time trying to get this to work, and I'm not having any luck. I've asked on a couple different places, and I haven't had much luck there, either. If anyone here can help me out, I would really appreciate it.

I have a Windows 10 hp laptop and a Cable Matters HDMI to VGA adapter. I usually plug my laptop to an HD TV but am having to do this for a while.
I understand this can be tricky, as hdmi to VGA is digital to analog conversion. I got it working yesterday after plenty of fight, not in display options but windows key + p and selected extend. When done working I closed my laptop lid. Since then it has not worked. Can any you help?
I'll tell you what I've done and what it's doing. Now, Windows does indeed think it's connected to an external monitor. Everything about windows says so - there's two icons in display. I can move things to other monitor. But, the monitor doesn't agree. It's blinking in standby.
If I unplug VGA from monitor, it realizes it. If I unplug adapter from Windows, it realizes it. But there's still a gap and I can't find the answer.
I've restarted, shut down, combinations of those with plugging in adapter before / after, I've deleted generic display from device manager, tried a different monitor, and other various "windows nudges" I call em. Went to manufacturer's site, not any help there. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

Hi, so here's the problem, I bought a brand new graphics card today, the problem is my monitor only has a VGA slot in it and the graphics card has HDMI and DVI. So I looked for the HDMI to VGA converter I had and used that, it was working well for awhile, no display issues at all, and then after awhile my monitor lost signal and this annoying high pitched ringing noise started, it seems to be coming from the adapter since everytime I unplug it and plug it back in, everything would work perfectly for awhile and then the same problem would start all over again. I tried using our TV directly and the problem doesn't occur with it. Is it advisable for me to buy a new HDMI to VGA adapter or is that a waste of money?

Is there any advantage to using a DP cable and a male HDMI to female DP adapter, verses, a male DP to female HDMI adapter and using my existing HDMI cables? I have 2 TVs currently serving as my screens. I've lately been helping family and friends fix small issues on their computers. I've come across a few PCs that have only a VGA Display Port, while both of my screens only have HDMI ports.
I asked someone at a local parts store, if a wire that is VGA male one side and HDMI male the other, would do the job. He told me in long detail why that would never work, that I needed a signal converter to change the display signal.
Basically he said when adapting a VGA screen to a HDMI port was possible, and the reverse (HDMI screen to VGA port in pc) is not.

My question is, if I bought the cord linked below, would I have to do anything else other than just plugging it in? Or do I indeed need this converter I was told about?

Thanks in advance

Answer:VGA to HDMI Display Adapter

You will need a signal converter of some type. A simple wire cable with different connectors on each end will not work. A VGA output has three analog video signals. An HDMI input expects all digital signals.

Hello:

I'm really hoping someone here has experience with this issue and can help me. I have a 37" Philips CRT TV which I have connected to my computer so that I can watch videos on it. I have been using it with an older laptop that has S-video output and it has been working perfectly. Recently I upgraded my computer and my two modern graphics cards do not support S-video, only DVI or HDMI. I have been using an HDMI to composite adapter with no issues except that I had to adjust the screen size to make it fit. However, the image quality is pretty bad, so I just purchased an HDMI to component adapter. I am able to make it work by setting the resolution to 480i, but when I attempt to resize the screen, the image becomes distorted beyond recognition. I really need to adjust the screen size because the edges of the screen are cut off. I have tried changing the resolution, but it doesn't work unless it's set to the default 480i resolution. I have also tried a VGA to component adapter (with a DVI to VGA adapter) and that didn't work at all. I really hope I can make this work so that I can use component instead of composite. The only other option I can think of is to install a third graphics card that supports S-video, but I'm not sure I could find one that is compatible with Windows 7.

If you're wondering why I don't just get an HDTV, it's because I play a lot of classic video game consoles that look best on my old CRT TV. I'm ver... Read more

This laptop was just purchased and one of the features is an external HDMI port.  Well the owners manual is completely silent on how to get this feature working.  A call to Lenovo support had them stumped since they can't find any documentation either.  Basically, hooking up the HDMI out port on the laptop to a large flat screen TV with the HDMI IN port via a standard 10ft HDMI cable gets a confirmation beep on the laptop indicating it sensed the external connection.  A window pops up indicating it doesn't support this resolution and no further clues on how to resolve.  Has anyone used the HDMI output with any luck?  Running Windows XP Pro.

Needless to say I was a bit dismayed when I noticed that the adapter worked, but only if I tugged on the connection (towards the front of the machine). When I let go, the screen would disconnect and I would have no picture. This angered me a bit. I read a bit about others having the same issues.I slept on the issue one night and then in the morning I decided to take matters into my own hands. Grabbed a nail file I had laying around and shaved off about a nail file's width off of the end of the micro-HDMi connector. I could barely see any difference in the cable connector. Then I tried plugging it in and voila. No issues whatsoever. Tried angling the connector towards the back, down, up, front. No interruptions...I know it is a bit frustrating, but I like the rubbery feel of the Yoga 2 body and was willing to do a bit of DIY to make this work. Took about 5 minutes in total. Now am happy again...Give this a try if you have a problem with the connection.Just thought I'd share... lootziusPlease note, he did this on the cable itself. He did NOT mod the laptop rubber. This has helped hundreds. Also, there are a few brands that work without modification.

Answer:Yoga 3 Pro and HDMI 4K output?

Sorry, but I don't think the Intel Graphics chip in the Y3Pro will support 4K. According to the NotebookCheck web site:

"All Broadwell GPUs support OpenCL 2.0 and DirectX 11.2. The video engine can now decode H.265 using both fixed function hardware as well as available GPU shaders. Up to three displays can be connected via DP 1.2/eDP 1.3 (max. 3840 x 2160 @ 60 Hz) or HDMI 1.4a (max. 3840 x 2160 @ 24 Hz). HDMI 2.0, however, is not supported."

Question: Yoga 13 HDMI Port

Hello, First, I've read through all the different posts on here and scattered around Google about the HDMI port's issues on the Yoga 13, and nothing has worked yet. I generally have my Xbox 360 plugged into the HDMI 1 port of my JVC EM37T and the display works without exception. I unplug the HDMI cable from the Xbox and plug it directly into the HDMI port of my Yoga 13. The only problem-- the Yoga 13 doesn't detect that anything has been plugged into the HDMI port. The first time I plugged it in, it worked fine; the second time I tried, I had to unplug and plug it back in several times before it would work; third, even more plugging and unplugging; and now, it won't detect the HDMI input at all. My drivers are up to date. My TV is on the HDMI input setting. I can push F10 for days and nothing appears on the TV screen. I tried trimming down the plastic around my HDMI cable, and while it still works with my Xbox, it doesn't work in the laptop. Thanks so much. Any advice would be helpful. I'm starting to think I have a dud HDMI port.

I'm reading about the finnicky micro-HDMI port and indeed one of the adapters that I purchased was so sensitive I felt that if I looked at it wrong it would fail. That got me thinking: what about HDMI adapters that connect via USB? Like this one:

Would these work with the Yoga 2 Pro?

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro USB3 > HDMI?

My Yoga 2 Pro has full size HDMI, and I have never had a moment's trouble with connecting to my TV.  Are you thinking of another model?

I know you can get a cable/adaptor in amazon, but wonder if there's a Lenovo dedicated solution to conect the yoga 2 pro micro hdmi to a vga device.
