Problem playing games high ping can't really play pc games..

Question: Problem playing games high ping can't really play pc games..

Last summer I was downstairs on my pc connected to an ethernet to the router. Internet was great no problems really.. I have a twin brother who is upstairs and he used wireless he lagged alot and he only had problems if I was on my computer and that went on for a while. I have a grandfather who sat infront of me while I was on my pc and I couldnt do it so I moved upstairs but I didnt have a wireless pci adapter for my pc I had a wifi adapter which you plug in the wall to wirelessy connect to the router downstairs and I just put my pc's ethernet into the wireless adapter. I used that for a little bit until I couldnt take the high ping I was getting in game servers forcing me to just move my pc in the corner of my room and I havent been on it since. I have been playing ps4 using a wireless connect to the router downstairs. I have connection problems off and on but not every day. I today just got back on my pc and I am expieriencing constant lag and disconnection from games and discord. My router is the NightHawk AC1700 ,my Adapter is a tplink adapter. What can I do to increase my internet speeds I just dont want so much lag and horrible ping when I play my pc games with my friends.. and a reminder my router is downstairs with the modem.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello. This is my first post. I'm 'ok' with computers but I don't know anything about networking. My internet connection has a speed of 1 Gbps. My xbox 360 is connected wirelessly. My computer is connected via ethernet to my wireless router. I don't know how to look at anything else.

My problem: I used to play games on my Xbox 360 and playing online always worked fine never any latency. Now that I'm trying to play Pc games my ping can vary from 100 to 400 which is really slow there is a lot of rubber banding. Why does my xbox work fine and how can I reduce the computer's latency?

First of all sorry if this is going to be a long post but i'm kind of at a loss already on what to do with my problem and wanted to be as detailed as possible when describing it, so here goes.

I installed the Windows 8 Consumer Preview last december and since then, all my online games both from local and international servers have been experiencing extreme lag during gameplay and loading. This only happened after i installed the consumer preview and since then has been happening everytime i try playing any of the online games. I tried playing offline games to see if it might be the graphics but did not encounter any graphics lag and the offline games played perfectly.

I've contacted my ISP and one of their techs came over to check my connection and found nothing wrong with it or from the connection from their servers. Even streaming and downloading speeds are normal.

I've checked my connection at and my ping and internet connection are also registering as normal

Now i tried contacting support for 2 of the online games Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3, they requested a pathping file which i sent to them and copied below:

I think I might have a virus that's causing high ping when gaming. I usually have 50-60 ping but it often jumps to 300-500 and sometimes even to 1000. I'm not that experienced with computers but I think I might have some virus action going on and I came here to ask you guys to help me and tell me how to find out IF I have a virus and if yes, then how do delete it.

Thanks, Kaupmees.

Recently, I reinstalled my Netgear wna3100 driver. Ever since then, I've been experiencing problems with high pings in games where I normally never had problems with. Pages load slowly even just the home page of Google.

I've attached my ipconfig picture. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:High download speed and signal, high ping in games, slow page loads

To Disable Selective Suspend:

open the control panel
go to power options (you may have to set view to small icons)
click change plan settings
in the window that opens:
click change plan settings
click change advanced power settings, expand usb and ensure usb selective suspend is disabled.

I would also (while the device is plugged in)
go into the control panel - system - device manager - click the properties for it and make sure it's set to always on there as well.
I don't think the ipconfig can tell us much here since it's a data rate problem of some sort and not a actual connection problem from the sound of it.

The two things I mention above will hopefully keep your system from putting the device in 'low power mode' which may , or may not help your current problem.

I'm also curious if your system has recently slowed down in any other ways?

Hello everyone,

So, my problem is that I get pings of around 400ms when trying to play games online. I don't have this problem on my Laptop but got a new PC a few days ago and I have had the problem since I got that.

Here are my speedtest results:

I tried with both my windows firewall on and off and that didn't solve the problem. Also, I am using windows 8. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Answer:High ping - only in games?

What games are you trying to play?

It might be that it's simply that your connecting to the wrong servers on your games (playing with people far away and such)

Question: High Ping in games

before it gets shunted to the games section i am almost certain it is hardware related as its virtually the same on a fresh install of windows

ok the problem.... in all my games i get a relatively high ping compared to most ppl... i mean like everyone else is getting about 20 - 30 ms and i am always about 60 - 80. it is the same in all my games and yes i know about server location effects it blah blah. im running a small network and my ping is the same if i go straight in the back of the router (tested by moving p.c. temp.)

i have done searching/diagnosing all progs that access the internet and blocked or changed options to prevent them from access/starting, i did not mess wwith services too much just programs i have installed, i have made sure that i am the only one online in my house at the time when testing also. i have updated my network drivers aswell. i run a program access control firewall (ZoneAlarm Free).

i really have run out of ideas for this, does anyone have any others thoughts i could try to get my ping down as far as hardware goes? im not too sure about what can be done at the phone company end, i have heard of having the Gain turned up but i would rather get more peoples opions on the job.

thanks fin advance, any ideas are welcome

I choose to start this thread because i couldn't find the same behaviour anywhere else.

So when i start playing a game (e.g CS:GO) the games runs smoothly and all is good for about 15 minutes give or take. After that period of time my internet connection suddenly drops. If i only disable and enable my connection it will go back online but only for another 15 minutes or so if i start playing a game again. If i restart the pc i can play the game as much as i want without any problems.

In conclusion when i first start the pc after a long time of power off i get this problem but after the first restart it s all gone. I can't wrap my head around the source of this problem. Hope someone can help. Thanks!

I forgot to mention that i have this problem on a desktop pc with a wired connection.

Hey All, i'm new here this is my first post but it looked like a fairly knowldegeable place so i'm happy to give it a try, hope someone here can help

First, a bit of background info..
Since i got my hands on the RC i've loved it. I'm running the 64bit version on this spec (I Don't think it'll be important, but still worth saying)

AMD Athlon 64 3200 OC'd to 2.5Ghz
1.5 GB DDR-400 Ram
GeForce 6800GT
IDE HDD's and so on.

I've already seen a post without a solution to this...

The Problem
Anyone who plays Countestrike source on Windows 7 will probably have seen this.
If the FPS Is set to 30 or lower = Normal Ping of around 24 - 30ms on UK Servers.
If The FPS Is set to 101 or higher = High ping of around 56 - 80ms on UK Servers.

This is annoying. 100FPS Is the optimal, i cap it there on purpose because i don't need anyone, i can get full smooth game play using it, however with that ping i can't.

I've tried disabling the Firewall, homegroup shares etc.
I Tried using the command:
netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled
No Luck.

Anyone with an idea at all i will buy a cookie if i ever meet them!

You could try Faster Ping. It may help lower your ping.

I bought a Razer Lycosa a few days ago. Everything seemed normal, but then ping got really high during gameplay. It just says connection interrupted and ping goes 999 for 20 seconds or so. Then it calms down for about 10 minutes, but it goes insane again.
It sounded a bit stupid that my keyboard is causing these problems so I scaned my computer for viruses etc. but it remained the same. I realised that these connection problems started when I bought my new keyboard. After disconnecting it and connecting my old keyboard ping normalized again. I tried it a couple of times and I realised that Lycosa is the real cause of my problems.
I tried installing it again and installing some new drivers but it also didn't help.
Does anyone have the answer to this problem. Thanks for you help in advance.

Hi, I just went from using Windows XP Pro x64 to Windows 7 x64.

Any FPS game I played on XP I would get a constant ping of 10-25 in any Chicago based server. After going over to Windows 7, any Chicago server I join I get over 100 ping...and I don't know what is wrong. I've done the speed test, and I'll post three ping traces to three Chicago servers, I'm running off a cable modem, with no router, until as of today when I installed 7, I never had any ping issues before. It also seems like my ping issues only coincide with only games I play. My ping on Ventrilo, anything else are normal.

Answer:High Ping Issues in Games

take a look at your IP config, I had a little ping issues on a few games my self. I disabled IPv6 and it helped a little, maybe it was the IPv6 maybe I got lucky who knows. you will note that if you do an IP config you will see several tunnel adapters. also check your firewall, that is if you have one. I started using Kaspersky Internet Security and my pings went way high even with permissions granted. if I turn off the firewall the ping drops, Im guessing its because the FW isnt quite made for Win7 yet.

im not sure if any of that will help or if you have tried them. I hope it was a little help

I have been experiencing high, frequent ping issues. After a fresh restart of my router, I get a stable 50 ping, then after 5 minutes or so, it spikes to over 400, then falls to around 180 ping and becomes stable. I cannot play CSGO like this, the lag gives everyone else an advantage over me as the delay could mean life or death for me. I should mention on I achieved a ping of 28ms, 28down and 11up. But on CSGO servers, the lowest ping I get is 50, but it is stable at 180, any ideas? Help is appreciated

I live in the middle east so i expect a ping of around 150ms when playing online games , (in this case League of Legends),
But recently i have been receiving ping of around 350-400 which makes the game barely playable. I am playing on Eastern European servers since that is what is recommended for Middle Eastern Players.

I have performed numerous diagnostic tests, tried a wired connection, disabled IPV6 , tried a public DNS etc. But i can find the root of the problem. Please Help

What has been happening is that even though my boyfriend and I have the same laptop, the same OS (Operating System) (Windows 8), and the same internet connection, my ping for games goes up to 12k while his stays at 29.

Our laptops are the Asus X551CA, with the only difference between our laptops is that he has 2GB more RAM (Random Access Memory) than I.

I have tried putting a password on my internet, turning off my firewall, changing my I.P. connection thing to Google's, and turning off my peer-to-peer networking, but nothing is working!
He downloads more torrents than I, and his laptop would definitely be at greater risk for viruses so I do not know what is going on with the way my computer connects to the internet.
I have tried using system restore and everything!

The games he and I have tried playing together are League of Legends and World of Warcraft; so far, League definitely lags more with my ping going all the way up to 15k while WoW usually only goes up to 6k for me. The lag spikes are spontaneous, and he never gets any despite sharing the same connection!

Even when he is not here, I still lag. However, when my laptop is at his house, it does not lag at all! Any suggestions or help please?

Hi everyone

I just bought my new laptop, Asus ux303lb yesterday and since then I have been experiencing high ping and frequent disconnections in games, namely Tera and Warframe. I have run them perfectly on my older computer with even poorer specs. A test on and shows that I have no packet loss and my ping is well below 10ms. I also take an extremely long time to log into games. Could I get some help please? Thank you.

Answer:High ping and frequent disconnections in games

Few suggestions, (im not an IT guru):
- Performance when loading games is due to your computers specifications and/or any other programs that you may be running in the background;
- When using a laptop for gaming please remember that slow performance can be due to power saving features of your device. Laptops use this to prolong the battery life. The power saving feature will stop using the ac adaptor and use the battery for a predetermined amount of time, after which it will charge the battery up. When using the battery power, this can result in less power to hardware making gaming fps drop etc...
- Ping: try "cmd.exe" and type "tracert" and after once space type gaming server ip address. This will show you the network path from your laptop through all the network hardware and should show you any problems which you can discuss with your ISP.
- Points to remember: update all drivers as they encompass new releases and fix older bugs, don't download when playing online games, ensure your WIFI connection is via 5ghz network (if available) and not 2.4ghz, every so often restart your router

So I am at a bit of a loss here. For the past week or so, I have been getting random spikes of high latency in online games like World of Warcraft/Star Wars: The Old Republic/League of Legends/etc and I have no idea what could be causing it. My ping used to run around 30-80 and lately is has been spiking from 100 to over 700 randomly. I have tried everything I could think of like not using my router, power cycling my modem several times, making sure my drivers are updated, no programs in the background causing it, no firewalls/anti-virus programs causing it, and several other little things like that. I have also called my ISP and they said everything seems to be working fine. And here's another weird thing, according to, my service is running as it should be: The server my service is connecting to is in the next town over which is ~15 minutes away so that couldn't be it either.

Here is my system specs:

OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz, Intel64 Family 6 Model 26 Stepping 4
Processor Count: 8

Anyone have an idea of what could be causing this?

Hey, couple months ago i bought a computer for myself and have it in my room. the old computer that i used to use is now beign used by my sister and my parents decided to buy a new Dell computer. All 3 of these computers have internet access thru a router to cable internet. when we first had things set up, they were great, fast page uploads fast downloads, low ping in my favourite game of all time, counter-strike, everythign was golden!

but then all of a sudden, around a month and a half ago, i start to notice some weird lag. my choke was jumping up to over 25 and along with my ping (from 60-80 to 250+). and the weird thing is it would do this every 5 or 6 seconds apart so the spiking made it very hard to play CS, and downloads off the net took longer along with slow page loading, but isnt to bad to really notice.

so i do know a bit about how this can be fixed but im not intirely sure, i was reading at with my router modle i can set what computers can use what ports and such, so i tried this, i know what ports CS needs so i put that one in and also theres a program that my sister uses called ABC (which sucks up all the bandwidth like a *****) so i put the ports that that uses in the port fowarding then clicked apply... i then joined a server and my ping was gone...but 10 mins later it was back to the crappy way it was b4.... and im still havign the same problems. ive tried everything from reinstallign my CS to rebooting the router (several dozen times) and n... So... I've been through a lot fixing my computer after upgrading to windows 7. Never upgrading again, this has cause way more problems than a clean install would have... Anyway. First problem I had was that skype all of a sudden didn't like my sound driver. A friend of mine changed the driver, everything seems to be fine now; no crashes or anything. I mention that only because whenever skype crashed, anything fullscreen would crash upon opening, so I had thought it was related to sound when I noticed an extremely high amount of latency in every full screen game I played after fixing the skype issue, specifically Counter Strike: Source and Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

I recognize CSS has had a lot of issues with Windows 7... but BC2 came out after W7... And, all my friends seem to have both of these games working just fine on their computers, running W7. So. I'm not sure what's wrong. I've tried a couple of things...

1. Disabled sound card/drivers. Wasn't the problem.
2. Used task manager and resource monitor to see if there was anything that could be slowing my internet... And, I found that ashWebSv.exe (essential part of Avast! Anti-Virus) had 50+ instances in the TCP Connections part of resource monitor. This ONLY happens after playing a game (or at least it appears so); prior to starting up a fullscreen online game, there is only one instance of this, at least as far as I can tell. Also noted that hl2.exe was using up 80% of my cpu (I've specifically been ... Read more

Remembered that last time I was asked to attach a few things... so here's what I was asked for last time.

Anything else you may need, just ask.

EDIT: by the way, in perfmon report 2, my ping was 350-500 the entire time in CSS... Just letting you know in case it matters <.<...

I have been having extremely high ping in online games like BF1 and Titanfall 2 (>500 with spikes to over 1000, pretty much unplayable), and slow WiFi speeds. I have already updated my wireless drivers and disabled location and automatic updates. shows a ping of around 40 ms, and download speeds of about 7-10 Mb/s. Wired connections are a little less than 10 times as fast for downloads, and significantly lower ping. Doing a speedtest on my Galaxy S6 gives 12 ms ping and 35 Mb/s downloads. I have done a speedtest on my windows 10 laptop with the same WiFi dongle as my desktop, as well as the built in card, with very similar results. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Answer:Windows 10 slow WiFi speed, high ping in games

First thing I would do is run the DSL Reports speed/bufferbloat test and post your bufferbloat test result back here.

Could it be that the game is overtaxing your GPU or CPU and that is the cause of the issue? I'd try dialing back your settings and see if that helps.

Next, I'd do a diagnostic boot with msconfig to load minimum services only and run the game again to see if that helps.

Hello and thanks for checking out my issue,

This has been a real pain to try and figure out over the past week. The hitching started when I decided to upgrade my computer. I previously used an AMD FX-6100 CPU and switched to an Intel i5-4690k. I also purchased a Crucial MX 100 SSD to use as a boot drive.
While I was installing Windows 7 I accidentally did not delete my old partition from the previous installation. Later on in the installation when I tried to change the date and time, the entire system froze for about 30 seconds (where the clock did not change at all and was 30 seconds behind when it stopped) I thought it was odd but kept going. After the installation I added the necessary drivers and a few games like Arma 3. Before the really bad hitching began the game froze once for a really long time and again the clock stopped and lost track of time. Some really bad hitching in *all* of my games began a short while later (maybe a day and a half) It was really odd so the next day I decided to take apart my computer and put it back together outside of the case as I had thought my case and large radiator was cutting off power to my CPU and possibly GPU.
After I restarted the computer outside of the case I had no hitching in my games anymore, so I thought great I fixed it! But the very next morning it was back and even worse. Steam seems to struggle to type messages, it lags when I scroll through my games list, and even some documents on Chrome do the same thing. I ra... Read more

Did you check CPU/GPU temps? Is the motherboard still outside case? Try reseating the components and load defaults in BIOS.

Whenever I play games from steam like bo3 and other games like Minecraft the CPU ratings are always around 100 same with disk some times. Just the task manager alone takes up 14bpercent of my cpu. The high CPU is resulting in very laggy and slow pc gaming and this is very annoying. I already tried cleaning out the PC and running anti malware programs on my computer but nothing helped can you please explain to me on how to fix this. I have AMD Radeon HD 8570D Graphics and 8 gigs of RAM installed. And I don't know that much about computers so I would appreciate a solve to this

Hello, I have a question. My Lenovo Yoga 720 15.6" doesn't overheat, although I've noticed something rather odd. When I play Fifa 17 with the charger plugged in, the fans are very loud and the laptop gets pretty hot. When I play Fifa 17 on battery only (charger not plugged in) the fans are quite silent and the laptop doesn't get hot at all. Why is that? For all I know, I would expect the exact opposite...Thanks in advance!Kind regards,Tijs

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 720 15" : hot when playing games on charger, cool when playing games on battery???

The CPU runs at full speed when it is plugged in and runs more slowly on battery to save power.  Faster = more heat.

Could anyone help me with this? I'll experience random, what seems to feel like, lag spikes, which aren't actually lag spikes while playing games. I'd be playing in offline mode against the computer and I'd have smooth gameplay for minutes before hitting this "lag spike" which would last minutes before it goes back to normal gameplay for a few minutes and then back to a lag spike, and this cycle would continue. This is for games that are extremely below my computer specs as well, so far, this has occurred with TF2 and alien swarm. my drivers are all updated, is this perhaps a software problem since problems with playing games only occurred once i went from windows XP to windows Vista months ago.

Hi! I have been getting BSOD's when i play games.

I have tried a bunch of things some of them worked for a day and then i start getting BSOD's again. Its not creating .dmp files.

It only happens in more graphically demanding games such as League of Legends, Team Fortress 2 ( even though they are not that demanding). Thanks in advanced!

Edit: I got it to create a dump file, you can find it below.

hello everyone,

I've had a really frustrating problem where my computer crashes about an hour into playing Call of Duty 4. The screen freezes and is accompanied by scrambled audio and a really high pitched beeping noise. The beep doesn't come in intervals it comes in one long beep, like a heart monitor flat-lining. The crash can come within 10 minutes of gameplay or like an hour of gameplay and the only way to recover from the crash is to restart the computer.

I've ruled out problems with my memory (ran memtest fine), and problems with my PSU (installed a 500w PSU recently). All my graphics and audio drivers are up to date. I'm not sure what the problem is.

Here are some system specs:

AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual core processor 3800+ @ 2015MHz
2GBs of RAM
ATI Radeon x850 XT
SB Audigy 2 ZS
Rosewill 500w PSU(forgot the exact details but i dont see the PSU as the problem)

please help :/

Answer:Computer crashes while playing high-end 3d games

The causes are sometimes hard to track down, because there are so many possibilities: Excessive heat at the processor from inadequate cooling; Inadequate memory; Value Ram or other slow ram instead of modules with rapid timings; overheated video card; video card with inadequate memory; slow hard drive; cpu heatsink is not firmly seated with thermal paste; too much thermal paste which acts as an insulator; cpu fan is wearing out; dust and hair in any cooling fan or heat sink; hard drive is going bad; too much heat inside or simply inadequate case cooling; power supply is not up to the task and provides less reliable output as it overheats; Sound card is overheating or other PCI card unrelated to what you are doing is bad... such as a modem.
Different techs have various solutions for tracking down the problem, but all of the above may need to be examined before you determine the cause.
Good luck. Let us know how it turns out.

Hello Sevenforums i got this problem playing high performance games..

When i enter the following games (below) my graphic hits 75 - 85 celcius (what worries me is the world of warcraft... It's only on HIGH and it goes to almost 90 celcius)

World of warcraft (high)
Battlefield 3 (Ultra)
Guild wars 2 (Ultra)

I was reading abit about this problem on google and saw a person telling another one that was having the same problem as me that a PSU could heat up your GPU if it is just under your GPU..

- My PSU is not far from my GPU and the fan on my PSU is almost just up against my GPU so i kinda wonder can a PSU really heat up my GPU that much?

My cousin got a very tiny case for his pc, he got a gtx 560ti and hits 65 - 70 celcius and goes 50fps in stormwind with 60+ players around him and 200 - 250fps outside stormwind. in stormwind i got 20 fps and in world i got 60 - 100 fps.

I got a Evga GTX 580 1534MB myself and should be alot better then the gtx 560TI.. He also runs 20 - 30 fps higher then me in Guild wars (60 - 90fps) i am running 30 - 50fps..

Any help would help me.. I've updated my specs and i will upload a picture of the inside of my pc when i get back my phone tomorrow!

Battlefield runs smooth but my pc is overheating.

Answer:GTX 580 overheating playing High Performance games

A 580 draws more power, and delivers far more performance than a 560 so it is not thta stragnge it will run warmer.

75-85C for a 580 is normal. Now, if you simply want it to run cooler theres a couple things you should do.

1. Clean out your case with some compressed air. Clean all the fans, filters and inside of everything well to get rid of as much dust as you can.

2. Improve airflow.
You'll want to make sure you have plenty of cool air cioming in, and towards the GPU from the front of the case. make sure there are no wires etc that can obstruct the airflow.

3. And lastly, you can use a program like eVGA Precision or Afterburner and create a custom fan profile. I have mine set to ramp up on the slope type settings. At 70C its running the fan at 60% which keeps it much cooler than the default speeds. Never really goes over 65-70 under heavy load.
Just depends on how cool you want it to run, how much airflow you have now, and how much noise you are willing to add to your PC. Faster fan speeds do improve temps, but increase noise a good deal too.

Also, on framerates.
You must consider the game settings used, as well as resolution. If hes running a lower resolution, it will be easier to get hifgher FPS with less for example.

Also, depending on your monitor, Vsync should be used.

heres why.
Lets say your monitor is 60hz. This means it can only display 60FPS, no matter what. If your GPU is drawing 10,000 FPS it doesnt matter. Only 60FPs gets displayed on the screen... Read more

How do,

I've recently installed a new AMD 8150-FX 8-Core processor (Black Edition)

Ever since I replaced my old AMD Phenom II 4X 965 Black Edition, with the above mentioned, I've had blue screens.

Now this is only happening when I am playing demanding games such as ARMA2, GTA4, Crysis ect ect ect;
I also note that it only seems to be happening when I've got the settings to Ultra or highest settings.

Now I know that my PC is more than capable of playing today's best games on Max/ Ultra because I was playing with those settings on my old CPU.

I'm sure this has got something to do with the new CPU.
Below is a copy of what the 'Event Viewer' is telling me:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x000000d1 (0xfffff800480d479e, 0x000000000000000d, 0x0000000000000008, 0xfffff800480d479e). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 072012-33914-01.

Sorry I've not attached a file however I did try to and I was told it was invalid so I couldn't upload it.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated,

Many thanks.

Counterfeit installations such as yours contains heavily modified code that causes the installation to behave it unexpected ways. Analysing BSOD's and determining their causes on these sorts of installations is very unreliable.

My recommendation is to start with a clean slate, and install a genuine version of Windows. This will minimise the problems you are experiencing, and make subsequent diagnosis of BSOD's far more reliable. Once you are running a genuine Windows installation, and are still experiencing BSOD's, we will be happy to help you solve them

I have a BSOD problem. I thought it's only dust build-up so I cleaned my PC. It went well for a day, but then it happened again. When I don't play games, or when I play lower quality games I have no problem. But when I play games like Skyrim, Black Ops, Revelations, etc. it happens in around 10min time period.

Answer:BSOD playing high graphic games

"It's not a true crash, in the sense that the bluescreen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception".

Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OSs like XP to crash.

As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds.

If there's no response, the OS concludes that the video driver/hardware combo has truly collapsed in a heap, and it fires off that stop 0x116 BSOD.

If playing with video driver versions hasn't helped, make sure the box is not overheating.

Try removing a side panel and aiming a big mains fan straight at the motherboard and GPU.

Run it like that for a few hours or days - long enough to ascertain whether cooler temperatures make a difference.

If so, it might be as simple as dust buildup and subsequently inadequate cooling.

I would download cpu-z and gpu-z (both free) and keep an eye on the video temps

Nvidia Geforce GTX 480
800W PSU

Answer:PC crashes when playing high spec games

Not a gamer, so I don't know whether the games you're having problem w/ are only GPU intensive or both GPU & CPU. Best thing might be to stress test your CPU & GPU separately.

You can run something like Furmark to stress test your graphics card. For CPU, maybe Prime95.

Hopefully one of these can help you rule out your problem.

I've noticed a high pitched whining noise that sounds like it is coming from the power supply/GPU, both being less than a month old. The weird thing is, it only makes the noise when I am playing a game, for instance if I tab out, the noise will stop and if I tab in it will start again. I've mainly noticed this on a game called League of Legends which doesn't have high requirements anyways. It's just annoying me and I'd like to know if there is a fix. I'll list some components below, ask if anymore are required.

GPU: MSI 280X 3GB Gaming Edition (Twin Frozr IV)
PSU: 800W Storm Silent
Mobo: MSI B75MA-P45 MATX
CPU: i7 3770 3.4Gh/z (oced to 3.9)
RAM: 16GB Kingston HyperX Blu

Answer:High pitched noise only when playing games?

I went to Microcenter almost exactly a year ago, and with their help bought an entire PC piece by piece. I can't remember exactly when it started happening (I think it was from the 2nd or 3rd day) but I started getting BSODs when playing Arma 3 (high end game). I figured it was some software or driver issue so I just ignored it. In the past few months I have been trying to fix the issue, I even formatted windows and installed every driver disk I have + downloaded updated drivers but I still got a BSOD within 3 days - so I am pretty sure this isn't a driver issue. When I play a lot (like on a Saturday) I will get two or three.

Most of the time it is while I am playing a high end game, or closing a high end game. I can leave my computer running at the desktop for days on end and 9 times out of 10 I don't have a problem. I just ran Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool and it found no problems. I have ran other 3rd party tools that test memory and didn't find any issues either. The minidumps I have so far are as follows:

All except for the blank minidump list ntoskrnl.exe as a Address In Stack.

Also, my GPU runs at about mid 70s Celsius when playing games..

I'm having a problem where whenever I play online games such as World of Warcraft or Lord of the Rings Online, my entire computer will freeze after a few hours. I was able to deal with this, but recently a new patch was release for World of Warcraft and now my computer can only run the game for less than a minute after logging in before it freezes. The computer completely freezes but you can hear everything in the system still running (such as fans and lights). I have no idea what the problem is. I tried updating my BIOS drivers today (hopefully i did that correctly) as well as my video drivers. I also did a memory test and everything was fine.

These are my specs:
P5VDC-MX Asus motherboard
Nvidia Geforce FX 5500 256mb (agp 8x)
1 gig of ddr2
Pentium D 820
Rosewill AP-500x 450W PSU
Stock cooling on everything

The only thing that I can think of is to replace the video card... which i can see being the problem because i took it from a previous system that had most of its components fried when the memory was placed in the wrong way. The computer runs perfect when its not running high-graphics games, never freezing and running much faster than my dell.

Is there anything else that could be the problem that i should check out before i invest in an 80$ XFX Geforce 7600 GS?

Thanks in advance,

Hello all,

I'll try to make a somewhat long story short. A couple of days ago I found my computer running unusually slowly when gaming. My computer isn't a powerhouse, but it's run just fine with certain games like GTA5 and Civ 5 if the graphics options have been tweaked appropriately.

My sound started dropping out, sounding static-like. Tried checking the headphone jack and speakers, which turned out to be fine on their own. As I was playing, the framerate would drop out with the noise seemingly trying to catch up as well. After trying a number of regular things such as turning off programs that suck up CPU usage and memory, it still didn't help. Opened up my laptop and cleaned it out with an aircan, thinking it might be due to dust. Still, no dice.

I read somewhere that it could be due to high dpc latency, so I downloaded LatencyMon and a dpc latency checker. After letting them run for a number of times along with Windows xperf, it seems as though ndis.sys was the issue. I downloaded SlimDrivers to check on driver updates and it found that my network adapter (Qualcomm Atheros ar9485wb-eg) needed a new driver. Downloaded that, installed it, and still dpc latency was high. Tried disabling it via Device Manager and playing a game, still no dice. Found another possible driver causing the issue, hdaudbus.sys, causing high latency. Can't find a fix for this or ndis.sys through other posts and tutorials. Even tried going from Windows 10 to Windows 8.1 to see if the drivers woul... Read more

Answer:High DPC Latency issues when playing games.

You have a pretty powerful computer. The biggest problems with games is that they are GPU intense and the GPU card needs the horsepower and a lot of RAM to handle them.

A few days ago i noticed my all my games were choppy. Almost like they were running at lower frame rate but when i checked my frame rate it was fine. This happens in all games and is usually followed up by input lag. When more stuff is happening on screen the choppiness gets worse, but i still have high reported frame rate. I don;t know what to do...i have tried everything i can think of. Forcing v-sync in game and in the control panel does nothing to alleviate the issue. Fps is capped at 60 but is still choppy.

The issue is that games are incredibly choppy. The best way i can describe it is that when turning your screen you can see and *feel* as if frames are dropping, but they are not. Even when the fps is capped and it does not move. When lots of things are happening on screen the choppiness gets worse and there is more input lag.

It is such a weird issue, in all my years of pc building/troubleshooting i have not come across an issue as strange as this one.

Vsync on and off doesnt help. All my drivers are up to date. I tried unparking my cpu cores. I dont know if this is graphics card issue or something. Should i send it back and could it possible be because i dont have an SSD

The 6670 is really a weak card for a game like Crysis 2... though it should fare a bit better with ME3. I think DEHR falls somewhere in the middle. Your GPU is your likely bottleneck on that system.

I have a problem with pings inside the games on servers that are not in my country.

The problem is in the game and also out side when checking the ping through HLSW.
When I send ping through the CMD It fine (80) but inside the game or in the HLSW I get 500 ping.

I contacted my ISP and they said that everything is OK with my line (ADSL).

any idies?

Thanks, Tobi.

Hi everyone.

As it's my first post on this forum, I would like to say thanks to everyone of you who tried and help strangers on the internet with their computer problems. Really, thank you.

My problem :

I build this new rig 1 month ago and didnt notice problems at first. I was mostly playing CS GO and Skyrim and didn't run into any problems (maybe one or twice, but I didnt mind it.). I tried playing newer games 1 week ago, like Metro 2033 Redux and The Witcher 3. That's when the problems began.

After playing 5 to 10 minutes of one of those newer game, I get a BSOD. The most frequent one is "Memory Management", but I also got "IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" and "critical structure corruption". I tried to look into it, but because of my not great computer knowledge, I mostly searched on google on a way to fix it. Here's what I tried so far :

- Memtest x86 (no errors)
- Windows Memory Diagnostic (no errors)
- Tried one stick of RAM at the time, and on different channels (Didn't work).
- Reinstall windows and every drivers (worked shortly but after 15 min had the "critical structure corruption error" and the memory management later).
- Put default or auto to everything in my bios (didnt help)

I'm out of solutions right now and I'm really close to going to computer shop near my place to see if someone could fix or at least see the problem that I'm having.

May have a possible solution:
Go To: Start > Run > cmd (Run As Administrator)
Type: netsh winsock reset
Hit Enter
Type: netsh int ip reset
Hit Enter
Type: ipconfig /release
Hit Enter
Type: ipconfig /renew
Hit Enter
Type: ipconfig /flushdns
Hit Enter
Type: ipconfig /registerdns
Hit Enter
Close cmd
Then after all of this check the following:
Go To: Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections
Press 'Change adapter settings'
Right click on 'Local Area Connection' > Properties
Double-Click on TCP/IPv6
Ensure 'Obtain... automatically' is set for DNS and IPv6
Press OK
Double-Click on TCP/IPv4
Ensure 'Obtain... automatically' is set for DNS and IPv6
Press OK
Press Apply/OK
After doing all of the above tasks, please restart the PC.

Hello, I'm in need of some help. My laptop keeps showing BSOD with error BC Code 116. When I checked the cause of the blue screen was BC Code 117. Can someone please help me to solve this problem.

One day, my laptop had a windows corrupted error and was unable to boot. I sent it to a trusted person to help me restore my windows and other stuff. But eversince then, I couldn't play anymore games that required good graphics such as Team Fortress 2, Assassin's Creed and some other simple games as well. BUT before the windows corrupted thing happened, ALL of these games were able to be played normally without ANY lagging or crashing or BSOD. Now, when the game is in its "launching" mode (this part is where naturally the screen will turn black to load the game itself), the blue screen error will appear. I hope some one can please help me about this problem. If any system information is required, please let me know.

Answer:Why does my computer restart itself while playing high end graphics games?

Check your temps (both CPU and GPU) while idle and while gaming.

Also, have you updated your drivers / CCC to the latest versions?

Hi all,

I have recently upgraded my GPU from AMD HD 7750 to NVIDIA Geforce GTX 750 Ti (with dual fans).

I tend to face issue when playing higher end games. The game starts out fine usually but then auto restart after a while. Sometimes, there is no signal to my monitor instead.

Before, I have no issue playing Witcher 2 at medium settings but started facing this problem when trying out Lords of the Fallen, even at low settings.

My idle temperature of my GPU is around 43?C while during gaming, the highest it reached is 70?C.
CPU wise, idle is around 35?C while gaming is 60?C (max).

My desktop PC is customized build with specs:
Windows 7 SP1 64-bit
Intel Core i3 CPU 530 @2.93 GHz
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 750 Ti
Motherboard: GIGABYTE H55M-S2
PSU: PowerWide ATX-430W
Ram:4GB Kingtson Ram KVR13N9S8/4 x2

Any advice? Thanks!

Whilst playing games my computer will randomly crash to a black screen , A loud buzzing noise comes through my headphones , the monitor loses reception , the keyboard lights turn off , 50 % of the time the CPU and GPU fans will suddenly speed up drastically.

It seems that the more demanding the game is , the less time before it crashes. e.g If I boot Skyrim up in High detail graphical settings ( my recommended setting) the pc will crash in no longer then 5 minutes (sometimes merely seconds) . However if I play in medium settings I can play for up to Half and hour. I have tested this with many games and have been receiving this problem since purchasing the machine.

In attempt to fix the pc I have :

- Switched 3 GPU Drivers
- Switched RAM slot
- Monitored Temperatures in MSI Afterburner

GPU TEMP: Max 52c minutes before crash.
(please suggest a program to test CPU temps in)

System purchased 3 months ago. All hardware was new , purchased and assembled through a website by professionals .(Whom I'm planning to send back to for repairs if I can't find a solution here)

-Aywun A1-G03 case
-Samsung Spinpoint 1TB HDD

It happened a few times that my computer simply shut down itself.
What can i do against this?

Have you installed another 3rd party display driver that is not from Toshiba? Usually such drivers are causing high temperatures and can destroy the hardware. So if you have such a display driver remove it and install newest driver from Toshiba website.

Furthermore you should clean your notebook from time to time using compressed air spray:

Answer:Custom Built PC shuts down while playing High end games or after a while.

Sounds definitely like an overheating issue, use Speedfan to monitor your temperatures. Most likely culprit is your CPU heatsink - reseat it, cleaning off the old thermal paste and applying some new paste per the manufacturer's instructions. Also, you'd be much better to do a fresh install of Windows - I don't think that would be causing your shutdown issues, but you may find problems later on.

My computer shuts down whenever I play a game that i max out the graphics on. I emailed the company I bought this computer from and it was determined to be a issue with my power supply (500W), so they sent me a new one (700W). I replaced the power supply but the issue still remains. The tech support is time consuming and stressful as they like to juggle you between branches, make you wait, and contradict each other, so I found this forum. I ran the program core temp and none of the temperatures (other than tj.max) exceed 50C. The temperatures displayed are as follow:

tj.max 105 C
power 12.5W
core 0 MAX 47 C
core 1 MAX 43 C
core 2 MAX 42 C
core 3 MAX 45 C
In game the temperature go up 2-3 C, this computer was a recent buy and when i replaced the power supply, there were no issues with dust.
My computer specs are:

Answer:Computer 'restart' when playing games on high graphics.

Welcome to the forums Mocking,

The temps you have listed are for the CPU, have you checked the temps for the Graphics card yet?

You can use a program called GPU-z or seeing as you have an EVGA card you should be able to use the Precision X software that comes with it.

Also have you updated your graphics card drivers from the Nvidia website.

So around the time of Dec. 2013 I decided it was time to buy/build my first custom computer. The computer is made of:

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz

HDD: (1) SanDisk SDSSDXP240G ATA Device

Sound Card: (1) NVIDIA High Definition Audio (2) Realtek High Definition Audio

Graphic Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770

OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit 7601 Multiprocessor Free Service Pack 1

Power Supply: FirePower OCZ 850W ZX Series Fully-Modular 80PLUS Gold High Performance Power Supply

Mem: Crucial Ballistix Tactical 16GB Kit (8GBx2) 240-Pin DDR3 1866 MT/s (PC3-14900) CL9 with 1.5V

The issue started sometime around Feb. 2014.

It started when I was playing Resident Evil 6 were my computer just randomly shut down. I dismissed the issue and rebooted my computer again and launched the game. Sure enough it ended up happening a second time. Eventually I noticed the trend in which if I played any performance heavy games (RE6, Skyrim, etc) the computer would randomly reboot. What puzzles me is that near Dec. I would play Assasins Creed 4: Black Flag for HOURS on the highest settings and it worked like a charm.

In the Event Viewer, I would get the Critical error:

Event 41
Task Category (63)

I used MemTest86+ which found no errors. I've been keeping an eye on my temperature using Thermal Radar II (software that came with MoBo) and noticed my CPU speed never goes above 60C when playing Skyrim. I made ... Read more

Hello and welcome onetimer to check the PSU see this

Using HW Info

You can test the volts on the PSU with HWInfo HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 -Download < download the right bit version andclose the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power sectionwhere you will see what the volts are doing see my pic.

The original right hand window shows themachine running and is handy for that but for looking at the components in some detail close it and use themain left hand side panel

Open each + down into the componentitself and then click on it - in theright hand side will appear all sorts of details including brands speeds andother essential info that device. See pic for example.
Seems like you have decent size PSU in there but just worth a check run this too

As per title, when I play games of my Y560p, the temperatures reach 80-90C, and wifi speeds drop to 0.6mbit/s or even fully disconnects. It could be that the power supply is failing if it only crashes when playing games or the video card is going bad. Can you install the video card in a friend's machine to test it? Then you can either include it or not as the culprit. Do you have any yellow warnings in device manager?

Sometimes i get bsod while running games. i don't know whats causing this, i pretty much don't know about bsods.
I just suspect the reason is there is secondary/primary graphic card on my computer, its called apu.
Device manager shows two display adapters, one of them "AMD HD 7660G" (my processor is AMD A-10 4600 APU with Radeon HD Graphics).
Other one "AMD Radeon HD 7700 series" says the device manager. (HD 7730M Chelsea Pro says the sticker on laptop)

I had this issue both before the format, and after the format. .dmp file is the first bsod after format.
I will try provide information if you ask anything else than posted.
I would appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks!
Note: User Account Control disabled on my computer. If this info helps anything.

If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.

Update your ATI/AMD display driver to the latest WHQL.
You can get it from the link in our forum, Latest AMD Catalyst Video Driver for Windows 7, or you may go to AMD Graphics Driver and Software and opt for Automatically Detect and Install the appropriate driver for your card.

During installation, you may opt for advanced installation, and install the display driver only, not the Catalyst Control Center.

Are you overclocking? As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings.

On Christmas day (of all days, after receiving all the new games...) my computer died. After doing a little bit of backyard work with a multimeter, I decided that it was probably a PSU issue, as it was barely putting out 0.03 volts through the 12 volt pins. I went and purchased a new PSU, that was 100W bigger (750W) than the previous one, as well as some more memory sticks to put into the motherboard (why not?).

After putting the new PSU in and still not being able to even boot the PC, we took it in for repairs where we were informed of a faulty motherboard, and suggested purchasing an upgrade to replace it (so much for the memory sticks...). We purchased the upgraded motherboard, processor, memory and left the guy to his devices. He called us back two days later and let us know that the current PSU (the 750W one) wouldn't be enough to run the computer and recommended upgraded to a 950W PSU. We went with it and waited.

He called us back later that day, letting us know that everything had been fitted and that we can come pick it up. We went in and informed us that he had to reinstall windows, which meant I lost basically all my data on my C drive (my SSD), but he had backed it up. Yep. Cool. Came home and plugged the machine in. After almost a week, after the crash on Christmas day, of not being able to play anything, I installed Assassin's Creed 3, and tried to pick up where I left off, obviously Uplay didn't save my progress, so I was thrown back t... By high-end games, I mean relative to my computer's current hardware.

Yesterday, or on 9/11/2015, I encountered 4 BSODs while playing Terraria and Team Fortress 2: 2 KERNAL_SECURITY_CHECK FAIL BSODs, 1 IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, and the other I don't remember. My build was used for less than 3 years since 2010, around 2012, the random restarting began happening, but mostly when i play high end games, and the room temperature is fairly hot.
There was a point where my CPU temperatures reached around 70 to 80 Celsius. but that was fixed about a week ago with a new Cooling tower - Tpc 812. The Random restarts could be because of CPU being damaged from overheating, or possibly the power supply being inadequate which i ruled out.

in Detail:

Recently - When playing high end games, such as HL2 Garry's mod on high graphics, XCom, or any other game, my Pc would run for about half an hour until finally, it get to a point where the sound immediately freezes and glitches, the screen turns black, and the pc becomes unresponsive.
Keyboard doesnt work, the CD drive works. -seems random

Today this issue has become more clear, when now i attempt to play these games, and only 5 minutes or more into the game and the pc crashes.

Answer:BSOD no Errors or blue screen - Playing High End Graphics games

Ok so I had a look at the files you uploaded it seems however there are no dump files so firth thing i would like you to follow this tutorial so that we can ensure your system will actually be creating dump files upon BSODing:

Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD

The next thing i notice is that your Primary drive is an SSD so if you could please ensure that the firmware is up to date.

Model OCZ-VERTEX2 ATA Device
Next I would like to address that you seem to be running three different antivirus programs:

Start Menu\Programs\AVG 2012
Start Menu\Programs\Avira
Start Menu\Programs\Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2013
I would like you to either remove all three of these and replace them with a combination of MSE and Mbam at least until we can rule them out as the problem, and even then you should only be running one not three.

respective removal tools for the antivirus programs:

Kaspersky removal tool

AVG removal tool

Avira removal tool

Next I note that you have Daemon Tools installed, this is a known cause of BSODs, please uninstall it and once it is uninstalled download and run this tool:

DuplexSecure - Downloads

when you run the tool, there will be a box with three buttons the only one you need to be interested in is the Uninstall button if it is grayed out , then Daemon tools is gone. DO NOT click the install button it will install a harmful driver that is known to cause BSODs.

Next on the list if you are overclocking at all on anythi... Read more

Answer:Lenovo ideadpad 320: can i play high end games while charging on a built in battery laptop?

Hi Dawaey,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
It would be best to play with ac connected as it directly gets power needed to maximize gameplay.
This would also be convenient for the battery, saving battery charge instead of depleting life charge and at the same time charging it to default threshold.
Newer charging technology within the chips controls this mechanism along with the software.
Battery default threshold would stop charging automatically when reached and redirects power demand on ac.
Such ideas was way back when battery has no control limit as it actually would not start charging before 95-96 percent by default.  This protective technology was develop to prevent battery from overcharging and overheating.
Hope this helps answer your query.

Hi, so for the last few months Ive gotten a worse and worse BSOD. I noticed it first in the flight simulator when I would zoom when looking out the canopy and I would see distant enemy fighters and then I would get BSOD just as i saw them. Then Flying my RC simulator I get BCOD very quick. Now it seems when watching a TV show online and clicking on a video of something funny or interesting it will get BSOD. To me it seems as if anytime the computer is working hard on something visual it shuts down for the BSOD. Anyways here is the info needed, here is from when i restart and it shows me the "details", and following the instructions ive attached the file I made with the DM log. Thank you guys. Im considered a Newb going into this "deep" with computers but im a quick learner so I hope you will stick with me so I can get this figured out So i can start my online video editing class. Thanks!

These bugchecks indicate a Machine Check Exception has occurred which means the hardware has signified (via a standard messaging interface) through the processor driver that an correctable hardware error has occurred ,the system then bugchecks on purpose, the result is a 0x124 error.

It looks like a very strong indication of a bad CPU, given that all your dump files show this:

Error : DCACHEL1_DRD_ERR (Proc 0 Bank 0)
Status : 0xb400200069000135
Address : 0x0000000032c10c00
Misc. : 0x0000000000000000
A level 1 cache data read error on the primary processor of the first memory bank, this is a consistent error within your bugchecks, this is bad, especially on the first processor.

I recommend running Prime95 to find out.

Stress test your CPU with Prime95

I recommend running Prime95 for around 2 hours

As with most stress tests your component's temperature will rapidly increase.
It is advised that you download a temperature monitoring program like HWmonitor
Keep an eye on your temperatures and stop the tests if it starts to overheat

Try taking out the CMOS battery on the motherboard then placing it back in to ensure no improper settings have been made.

Post back the results.

I bought my laptop last year around October. So its been over a year.I have the bios update installed(V2.05). Recently when I try to play high graphics games(FIFA14) my laptop stops charging and shows plugged in not charging. It returns to normal after some time after closing the game. The game also lags when this happens. I have set the Lenovo Energy Management battery setting to Maximum Battery Life, but no change. The same thing happens when the battery is set to "Balanced" or "High Performance". Also when I ran a hardware scan recently the Video card's "stress test" failed(Result code WVC00R000-HJ9D6J). Can somebody please help me with this.

I have
AMD ATHLON 64 4000+
ATI Sapphire Radeon X800 XL Hybrid (512 mb)
1 gb kingston ddr 400 ram
160 gb SATA Harddrive (Western Digital)
Asus A8N SLI Deluxe Motherboard
560 Watt Power supply
Windows XP Professional 64 bit-edition
7 different high power fans that keeps the computer cool

When I play doom 3, Half-life 2, F.E.A.R. or any other game utilising directx 9.0b and higher, the game crashes when I put all the settings to high. The weird thing is that it used to work just fine. Now, when games crash, it usually shows the whole entire screen, filling up with flickering blue squares. The sound keeps going on for about 10 more seconds, and then the sound freezes up too. When I press any button after this happens, The monitor flickers and then shows a screen that is bizarrely coloured. I am using Windows XP Professional 64 bit-edition

Hi Guys

Sorry if my title sounds a bit sexist, you know what I mean.

I am looking for some video games to play on my laptop, but not war, guns or driving games. Can anyone give me some ideas!

Second Life is an interactive game...does anyone play that? However, I don't think the spec of my laptop is up to it.

Thanks in advance!

Answer:Video games women play or good non-blokey games???

There are various game categories - it's not just war, racing & sport. You need to at least tell us what interests you. And, as JoeRay12 said, tell us about your PC. In the mean time, have a look at the following website. If you scroll to the bottom of the page, you can select your Windows OS.

According to VirusTotal, the site is 100% safe.

If you like Hidden Object games, I will reccomend:
Mystery of Mortlake Mansion.
Prime Suspects.
Little Shop - Road Trip.

Hi everyone,

My name is Alex and I'm from Brussels, Belgium. I'm 30 and I work for a European institution
I'll try to explain my problem in the most detailed way possible. I hope someone will be able to help me because I'm at wit's end right now as to what could cause the problem...

I have a brand new system (except for CPU and PSU) as follow:

OS: Windows 7 x64 SP1
RAM (4GB total):
1x KINGSTON DDRII 2GB (~2y old)
HDD: SAMSUNG SSD 840 120GB (BRAND NEW, no previous OS installs)
CPU: AMD Athlon X2 6000+ 3.01GhZ (~2y old)
PSU: 800W Diamond Power / Power Supply ATX12V 2.2 / EPS12V (~1yr old)

The computer had a hard drive failure and thus a hard drive replacement (both old and new being 1TB SATA HDDs) about 3 months ago.
I took the opportunity to switch from XP to win7. My computer did not like this and started constantly giving me 50% CPU loads even when fully idle. The process taking 50% cpu was "system". We traced this to ntkernel and after a deep analysis found it to be the USB ports. 2 of the 4 motherboard USB ports had died and we figured it was related --> NEW MOTHERBOARD + decided to buy a new GPU, HDD and extra RAM.

As you can see above, new motherboard, new HDD (SSD instead of SATA), more RAM, and new graphics card. The only hardware... Read more

Answer:Win7 freezes & BSODs when playing high spec games only (loads of info inside)

Pardon the very early bump, but I have new information that could help maybe!

I ran a processor (& ram) stress test using a program called Prime95. It put both my cores at 100% use and was supposed to do so for several minutes.

On the first attempt, one of the two cores suddenly dropped to 0% and I received the following message:
[Mon Apr 08 22:21:26 2013]
FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4
Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file.

The second core stayed at 100% as the test was still going on, but about 1 minute later, my computer completely froze (same way as explained in the first post).

I tried running the test again with another setting to try to focus more on the processors and less on the RAM (although I believe it still put stress on the RAM to a certain point), and this time within 30 seconds I received a BSOD. The error message mentioned atikmdag.sys.

I'm attaching the latest dump file which includes the new BSOD dump.

So, is my processor malfunctioning? :(

I just updated and rebuilt my PC and have reinstalled Win 7 64 bit and am constantly getting a BSOD while using the PC. Specifically while downloading/installing/playing games. I have also had the error occur just while surfing the internet.
From the program Blue Screen Viewer it seems to be caused by ntoskrnl.exe+7f1c0 and/or ntoskrnl.exe+7e769
I can not find any solution to fix this issue, I have updated drivers, I have ran the Microsoft memory checker, , I have changed out my memory, tried 2 other video cards, tried two different wireless network cards, now on wired connection, I even changed motherboards, got the errors on both SSD and HDD. The only things I haven't changed out is the PS and CPU, since I am using the PC to write this I am ruling out the CPU as the issue.

I have used Memtest86 and prime95 to test the memory and CPU, nothing is coming back with errors or issues. I did run driver verifier and got two .dmp files for some specific files but not sure what to do with those now. They are included in the attachement

It seems to be software/driver issue but I can not figure it out.

Any help would be great, thanks!

Your reports are not definitive and educated guess says that this is the cause of your problem
What is the asushwio.sys file?
Make a system restore point and then uninstall the associated software or update driver.

Over the last few months I have noticed that many times my ping would fluctuate drastically from time to time, at first I thought maybe my wireless was getting stolen from next door or someone was Downloading a file. IT mainly affected my FPS gaming and I couldn’t put my finger on what was up with my ping. A few days ago I downloaded the new Battlefield 2 demo and had encountered that same problem. I went to my brothers room to see what he was doing, just surfing the net. So I did a test and watched my ping when my brother would click onto a new website/web page. Well that was the problem every time my brother would bring up a new web page, my ping would go from 35, 85, 150, 300, 700, in little under 7 seconds and then would go down to normal unless he was to click on another page. I have never had a problem like this with my wireless router d-link d1-614+ its hooked up to 2-3 computers on it at once. If anyone could help me fix this problem, it would be greatly appreciated

Hello, first time poster looking for help as I can't diagnose my issue after trying numerous things. Currently when I play a game the BSOD happens randomly, I can go a whole day without it, or it can happen frequently. It happens the most when I close or exit a game, then it'll kick to a blue screen.

I really appreciate what you guys do and I hope I followed all the instructions right on how to post my logs and stuff, here's the attachment and some basic system specs:

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
I have reinstalled to this computer numerous times.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad q9550 @ 2.83 ghz

GPU: Radeon HD 5770

Mem: 4 Gigs of Memory

Motherboard: p5n32-e sli nforce 680i chipset

Answer:BSOD Playing various games, closing games, no overheating.

Before we can even begin to find the underlying cause you need to update the following drivers. Especially asacpi.sys. Yours is from 2005

ASACPI.sys 3/27/2005 10:30:36 PM
Lycosa.sys 1/18/2008 4:51:42 AM
nvm62x64.sys 10/17/2008 5:01:06 PM
netr28x.sys 2/25/2009 11:02:09 PM
How To Find Drivers:

- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference Driver Reference
