Preferred Solution: Missing drivers Lenovo ThinkPad X230

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I recieved my Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 11e a couple of days ago and it came with a lot of bloatware, or at least what I thought was. I started uninstalling a lot and everything seemed to work fine. I restarted it, but when it came back, I noticed the touch screen would not work. I went into the Device Manager and realized that one of my I2C drivers had the triangle with the exclamation was on one of them. After trial and error, I realized that disabling and re-enabling the driver would allow my touch screen to work. After a restart, however, I was back to square one. My wife bought her the same Lenovo Yoga and I have been compairing the two. I just noticed that I am missing the I2C controllers in the System Devices in the Device Manager as well. I have tried booting from an installation from hers and even copying the drivers and System32 folder to no avail. If anybody has any solutions, please help. I have tried everything I knew and everything I could find. Thanks in advance.

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 11e missing I2C driver. Drivers from lenovo website not working.

Hello and welcome,

What happens when you install the i2c driver for your machine?  Before doing so please verify the machine type (20D9, 20DA) as there's another machine type option available.  Downloads found by using SUPPORT above and entering Yoga 11e.

I recently purchased an X230 thinkpad.I am having some issues, specifically;a. the screen is a yellowy colour - this seems to only be at night, not during the day!b. the right click on the bottom of the touchpad does not work conistently - sometimes it acts like a left click instead of a right click - this is incovenient as i do a lot of editing work in WordI ran a Linux check and these issues did not occur - so I think it may be software related - I am using Windows 10 Pro.Does any one have suggestions?thanks

you probably need
1. Fingerprint Reader
2. HotKey Features Integration
3. Intel Chipset Support
4. Intel Graphics Driver (for the video glitch in your other thread)
5. Intel Management Engine
If it were me, I'd enter the serial number and then let the site post all the drivers for your X230.

HelloI have one question. From what I read it is impossible to replace the processor in X230, and here is my question, would it be possible to replace the entire motherboard with the processor for a stronger one?I care about this because I'm looking for a mobile laptop.

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad X230 (which I love dearly) and have a few question about ports and booting.  I would first like to verify that the port on the left side of the laptop directly above one of the USB ports is indeed an ExpressCard 54.  I have searched the web, but have yet to find a definite answer, and my user manual simply stated "ExpressCard."  Furthermore, I would like to know if it is possible to boot an operating system from said port using an ExpressCard 34 SSD (64GB).  I have the intention of installing openSUSE 12.3 to the potential SSD and be able to boot from it.  I greatly appreciate any help.  I  would post an image of said port, but I am being told the image file is much too large.

I just spent the last 4 days with my new ThinkPad trying to get the webcam working, and someone at work verified that I don't have one.  I am a bit upset about this since all the technical specs on lenovo.com for this model list a webcam as standard (not an option), and when I configured it online at lenovo.com, I was never presented with the option of including or not including the webcam.  Furthermore, the order acknowledgement did not mention the presence or absence of the webcam, so I assumed it was configured with one. I'm happy to send this unit back to get the lid replaced, but I'd be even happier if Lenovo just sent me a replacement at the same time that I returned this unit. What are my options?  Who do I talk to to resolve this? Has this happened to anyone else?

Answer:My new 2306CTO X230 ThinkPad is missing the webcam

Webcam is an option on some models, if you choose the 3X3 antenna, then the webcam option is hidden from you. You need to talk to Lenovo customer service and see whether there is anything that you can be worked out between the two parties.

I have a Lenovo X230, running Kubuntu 14.04. When I disconnect the slice battery at the bottom the system resets, it's very annoying. What's worse is that it seems like jostling the system, also can cause it to power cycle. I don't really have a need to remove the slice battery very often, but essentially if I put the laptop into standby, and put it in by laptop knapsack, the system is off after I get where I'm going. Thoughts? I saw somewhere that allegedly, when you unlock the battery, some thinkpad utility gets notified to switch the power, I wonder if the hotplug is a software only solution, and not doable in standby. Steve Ramage

I have a 4 year old Lenovo Thinkpad X230 computer.  Since I upgraded to Windows 10 (two years ago?) my computer has randomly shut off with no warning.  There doesn't seem to be a pattern with regard to when or how this happens.  The computer starts normally every time.  This can happen upwards of 5 or 6 times in an hour (although sometimes it can go several days without shutting off). In the last year (since June 2016), the computer has been evaluated by three different technicians on three different occasions (June, October, January).  Each found no hardware issues, no issues with fuzz/dust, no obvious software issues, no malware or other viruses.  Personally, I have explored the answer on the internet and fiddled with the settings relating to sleep mode (among other suggestions) and nothing seems to have worked.  I recently was advised to revert to the original windows 10, undoing all the updates and additional installations that I've put on the computer.  I did this, and miraculously it helped (although it still shut off twice since then.  This was in February).  In the last two weeks, I was forced to upgrade back to normal and the problem has returned.  Additionally, the first person who looked at my computer (back in June 2016), told me that this was aparently a common problem with Windows 10 and that the only way to fix it was to revert to Windows 8.   I would like to not have to do this, if poss... Hello,  I'm having some trouble with turning on my laptop. The problem originally started when some keys on my keyboard stopped working. I cleaned the keys, restarted my laptop, tried a previous restore point and then did a hard reset after nothing worked to fix my laptop.  After hard resetting, I tried turning on my laptop and it did not turn on. So far, I've plugged in my laptop into the adaptor, plugged the adaptor directly into the wall outlet, and removed the battery and plugged in the laptop. The one thing I have noticed with my laptop is that when I plug in the adaptor, the battery and sleep lights turn on for a moment, then the sleep light turns off, and the battery light will stay on momentarily but then it will blink off after a few seconds. What else should I do? Thank you

welcome to the community!

please check to make sure your trackpad is not disabled in your bios.

for reference, on my t60p, i have the trackpad disabled in bios because i never use it ( trackpoint evangelist here ). regardless, when i'm at the windows 7 login screen, my trackpad is active. as soon as i'm logged in and i've got a windows desktop, the trackpad is inactive. i'm not sure why i have that small window where it works, but there it is, fwiw.

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad x230 stuck on boot menu

I would need to see it to be sure, but my guess is that the hard disk was logically damaged.  That means the boot record or partition information was wiped out.  It could also be a disk hardware error.  Do you have a backup?

Hi, My Thinkpad X230 tablet screen is not truning on.  It just shows the dark blank screen. The power button is on, all other indicators are green.I have tried removing the battery, holding Fn button etc. Can someone help to resolve this issue please.. Thank You.

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad X230 Tablet - Display Problem

If it is under warranty, call for service, rather than dealing with it. The first step is to unplug it and remove the battery. Press the power button 5 times, holding it for 10 seconds on the last push. Put it back together; plug it in, and try again.

Hello. I have a Thinkpad X230. I'm trying to drive video to a Samsung LCD TV via the mini displayport, with a mini displayport  --> hdmi adaptor (i've tried two adaptors now). The X230 detects the the Samsung TV when connected, both in the Sound and in the Graphics Properties. You can hear the connect / see the PC screen flash when the cable is plugged in. Unfortunately I can't get any sound or video on the TV. (I just tried connecting to a Dell Monitor and was able to get it to work.) The TV takes HDMI from my Dell laptop just fine on the same cable/input to the TV.The other problem is that in trying to adjust settings, now when I plug in the HDMI cable via the adaptor, the PC screen goes blank, it seems to be trying to make the TV primary, and the TV is getting the signal, so I have to pull the cable out to get the PC display back. Any ideas on setting / adjustments? ThanksAlan

Hey everyone!I ordered a x230 a few weeks ago and i realized i need bluetooth! I know i can purchase a dongle for a few dollars but i rather keep my USB ports free.Anyone know where I can purchase a bluetooth card so i can install it myself? - Or is it advised not to do that. What do you think I should do?

Answer:Lenovo x230 missing bluetooth!

2 options come to my mind1) you can look for bluetooth expresscard (x220 has a slot, so I'm guessing x230 has it as well)2) you can put it in mini-PCIe slot (for the WWAN card or mSATA SSD), assuming it's empty now, ie. you purchased without WWAN

I have a ThinkPad X230 that began to display the yellow exclamation point icon for "No internet access" after I did a batch of updates.  It has an Intel Advanced-N 6205 wireless card and is updated to the newest BIOS.  I tried everything I could find on Google to try and fix the issue, and found no issues in these forums to users having an issue.  So after fighting with it for a day, I decided to wipe the system and reinstall Windows. I loaded Windows 7 Enterprise X64 with SP1 and did not domain join the laptop, so it is totally untouched Windows.  and then installed the Intel wired networking drivers version 11.15.16.0, which were downloaded from Lenovo.  I then installed the Intel wireless network drivers version 15.03.1000.1637 which were also downloaded from Lenovo.  Everything is working fine at this point.  I then loaded TVSU 5.02.0011 to get all the other Lenovo software.  One of the updates offered was Intel wireless 15.6.1, so being careful, I selected only that update and installed it.  After a restart, the yellow icon is there, even though I haven't yet connected to any wireless network - it is in place for the wired connection too.  Uninstalling the 15.6.1 drivers would not make it go away.  Installing 15.03.1000.1637 again also doesn't make it go away. A System Restore to revert to before the installation occurs does make the icon go away. I did some more searching on Google and the Intel Commu... The lenovo thinkpad s1 graphics drivers are so old... its so annoying. i am using intel latest may release for intel hd graphics 4400 and it has better performance and quality even though it uses 1gb ram than the lenovo 2014 july update which has 2gb!! lenovo.... somebody pls incorporate the new drivers into the old one.... could that be so hard?? u guys need to carry your customers along.....why edit the graphic cards when u dont plan to ugrade the drivers.. 4400 is still one of intels high graphics cards and they are updating...lenovo are just interested in making people buy laptops and not upgrading them...that super laaaaaaame!!!!!!!!

Answer:PLEASE LENOVO PLS PLS PLS!!! UPDATE YOUR GRAPHICS DRIVERS FOR LENOVO THINKPAD S1 YOGA

I don't see why you want to update your graphics drivers. If it works, it works. If there aren't any bugs there is nothing to worry about. And as far as gaming performance goes, it is still going to be slow and barely going to make a difference. If the generic drivers from Intel, Nvidia or AMD work use those. But make sure that brightness keys etc work correctly.

Hi All,I've bought LENOVO X230 THINKPAD TABLET, i7-3520M, MULTI-TOUCH on eBay, and I got it with a broken motherboard.  I couldn't turn it on when I opened the box, and I gave it to IBM's service in Israel. Now they just told me that they don't have the part, and they are waiting to get it from the US only next week. It means that I will use my NEW computer only 2 weeks after I got it!It relly make me feel very disappointed from Lenovo's quality! Does it make sense? I needed it for work and now I'm working with a terrible computer! How is it happen to a company like Lenovo that they sell a new expensive computer with a broken motherboard??? Don't they have a quality control ? Do I deserve a compensation?

After much turmoil, I was finally able to replace a failed hard drive on my Lenovo z585 and get a fresh copy of windows 7 back on it. Which is what it came with originally. The install had many drivers missing. I was able to get some some from the Lenovo support page, for the z585, but there a some that won't update on their own when I prompt them to...and those also don't have a Windows 7 driver on the support page...only windows 8. Why doesn't Lenovo have all the Win 7 drivers available ? Some drivers are available for both win 7 & 8 but others are windows 8 only ? ....and I need them. The chipset is also only available for win 8. also USB 2.0 etc.... Can someone please help me? I've only run into problem after problem, endlessly...Thanks here's an image of what my computer is asking for:

Answer:Missing drivers after clean install Win 7. Lenovo support only shows Win 8 drivers. ?!

Try a driver downloading software e.g advanced systemcare's driver booster, you will probs need old drivers.

I have an IBM ThinkPad R61 Type 7733-CTO - Windows Xp Pro Fresh Install

I am having absolutely no freaking luck locating the drivers for this freaking laptop. I have been to IBMs site and I have looked high and low for all the drivers but I can’t seem to find any pages with a download link.

The only drivers I have been able to locate are the sound drivers. I thought I had the Ethernet drivers but for whatever reason now it is showing up with an explanation mark. I also have two more unknown devices.

Can anyone help me locate the driver download page on the IBM website?

Apologies if this is reprising and earlier question on this topic. I have recently acquired an old-ish second-hand ThinkPad X230 [2325SWK build with a G2ET91WW (2.51) BIOS], accompanied by a ThinkPad UltraBase Series 3 docking station [P/N 0B67692] which has an empty 2½" bay.I need advice on the following issues:1    The X230 currently has an SSD installed [Samsung 128GB MZ7TD128HAFV-000L1] which will not be large enough for the programs and program data that I have planned to install.  I would like to upgrade to a 1 1TB SSD, and I propose to clone the contents of the existing 128 GB drive to a 1 TB Samsung 850 Evo [MZ-75E1T0B].  Are there any SATA or other firmware issues that I should be aware of before acquiring the 1 TB drive, arranging for its cloning and for the replacement of the current 128 GB drive?2    I would like to populate the empty 2½" bay on the UltraBase Series 3 docking station with an HDD, and the model I have in mind is a 2 TB Seagate BarraCuda Hard Drive [ST2000LM015].  Again, I'd like to know if there are any hardware, firmware or other issues before acquisition and installation.I'd be grateful for any help on either of these two issues in an Australian context.

Hello! I've recently installed Windows 8.1 on my new ThinkPad x240 and I've been looking for certain missing drivers ... Those devices are marked as "Unknown" by the device manager and the drivers are most probably not downloadable from the lenovo driver matrix (because I downloaded & installed all relevant). The Lenovo Solution Center nor the System Update can find anything ... The hardware IDs are as follows:1st device:USB\VID_138A&PID_0017&REV_0078USB\VID_138A&PID_0017 2nd device:ACPI\VEN_INT&DEV_33A0ACPI\INT33A0*INT33A0 3rd device:ACPI\VEN_INT&DEV_340FACPI\INT340F*INT340F 4th device:PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9C3A&SUBSYS_221417AA&REV_04PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9C3A&SUBSYS_221417AAPCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9C3A&CC_078000PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9C3A&CC_0780 5th device:PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_5227&SUBSYS_221417AA&REV_01PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_5227&SUBSYS_221417AAPCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_5227&CC_FF0000PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_5227&CC_FF00 Do you know, what kind of hardware that might be and where can I get the drivers? Answer:ThinkPad x240 missing drivers

Hello,

Unsure about the first device.

Second device appears like it might be the iSCT ACPI Virtual Device.

Third device appears to be the Intel Collaborative Processor Performance Control Driver.

Fourth device appears to be the Intel Dynamic Platform & Thermal Framework Driver.

Fifth deviceappears to be Realtek RTS522x PCIE Card Reader Driver.

Since none of these drivers are specifically for your model of ThinkPad, and appear to be for Windows 8.0, not 8.1, I would advise some caution when installing them.  At the very least, perform a backup of any valuable data

Alternatively, wait until Lenovo officially releases Windows 8.1 compatible computers and begins supporting it, and then install the drivers qualified for your operating system.

Hello everybody, I would like to ask you about drivers download for ThinkPad SL300. On official lenovo pages is not already this model for drivers download. Does some way exist to download drivers from official lenovo pages? For example, FTP with old drivers or something like that (I found FTP in this topic - https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/General-Discussion/Access-directories-on-ftp-site-ftp-software-ibm-com/... but there is nothing like drivers folder). Please do not write about (I know this possibilities):- others pages for drivers downloads - I want to download ONLY from official lenovo page- creating recovery media - because I want to install newer OS not Vista Thank you very much for usable answers.

I had to reformat and reinstall Win XP on my Thinkpad R51 1829-D4F.  A bunch of drivers could not be installed and I can't get my wireless network card to work (most importantly). I tried to download and install the drivers from this site, but it didn't work or I didn't find the right ones I guess. Here are what's missing : ! Multimedia Audio Controller! SM Bus Controller! USB Bus Controller! Ethernet Controller! Ethernet Controller! Video Controller (VGA Compatible)! Modem PCI! Unknown Device Any help would be greatly appreciated !!  Thanks.

Answer:Missing Drivers for Thinkpad R51 1829-D4F

melp, welcome to the forum, try using System Update, it should get the drivers you need automatically.  You can find drivers for your R51 on this site, downloading them isn't enough. You basically download a zipped file, you need to double click on them and they will extract to C:\DRIVERS\WIN\abcxyz. It will show you where whilst extracting. Hope this helps

I have had this issue where a lenovo IBM Thinkpad T40 does not install the drivers I received from the IBM website.

They simply will not work, i've tried upgrading the chipset, and it still would not work. :confused windows xp pro clean install, can't think of anything else! Please, help!

:wave Welcome to Major Geeks :major
Now, what exactly do you mean by "they won't install"? What happens? Does the PC crash? Are there error messages? Do they simply do nothing when you run the setup.exe files?
And what steps have you taken so far to resolve this? Have you tried other methods of driver installation (like using the Hardware Wizard/Have Disk method, or use the "Search this location for a better driver" method)?

I want a OS that i can play counterstrike without lagg, and a OS that dont get so much viruses .People says that  the 64 BIT  XP  runs smoother if you have a Dual core processor. I have ubuntu on a disc , but that is 64 BIT  version too. So I think a can not install the video drivers on the OS  either  :/ Please help  ! Greetings.Rickard.Swe

Answer:Need help ! Lenovo thinkpad t60 Video drivers to XP X64 !

Welcome to the forum! Lenovo doesn't officially support the 64-bit version of XP, so you'll have to look for modded drivers on the web... Personally, I'd try a 64-bit version of Win 7 RC1, and see how that runs on your machine. It should run very well. Most Vista drivers will be applicable. Good luck.

About a week and a half ago, my laptop got its first ever virus since owning it for 5 years. So, I wiped it using a handy dandy data destruction software.  Got everything set back up, but now...none of my video editing software will work.  I think its a driver issue - i know i am missing at least a few of them since wiping. But i do not know which ones specifically i am missing.  Is there a way i can pull up a list of all the drivers i currently have, PLUS the ones i still need? Like, my aspect ratio.  Its in proportion, somewhat.  Its just a tad bit...stretched.  I use to know how to fix that, but now, for the life of me, i can not remember how to do it. I know i need a new computer, but i dont have the funds right now to get one.  Plus, this one suits me just fine.

T60, 2008-SAA, preparing to install Win 7 upgrade to replace XP. With slow internet connection, trying to gather all the drivers and Thinkpad apps possible so will not have to do that online during the install. Some glitches so far. Download list offers Power Management Driver 1.67.04.05, but no Power Manager for Win 7. Instead they offer PM version 5.2 designated XP only. Question: When a Driver or Software is offered on the download list for a Win 7 install, but it is described as for  XP, are we to ASSUME that it will work with Win 7 OR that it is offered in error and some other must be located? Second confusion is the set of  downloads, (2) for Multimedia Center and  (1)Roxio Business Creator. All were issued the same date, 3/22/2010. Apparantly all three are required. But the readmes shows the Multimedia Centers to be for Vista/XP for one, 2000/xp for the second, and Vista/7 for the Roxio. Confusion comes from the fact that the "Learn More" claims they are all three good for 2000,XP,Vista and 7. Again, do we assume all is good to go based on the "Learn More" , or not, based on contradictory readme? And last Question. If no driver is offered in the Download, as for SoundMax audio driver as an example, is it to be expected that there are others available through the TVSU to cover all the gaps on drivers needed for Win 7? I am using caution because Lenovo instructions are to use only drivers furnished by Lenovo. And I hope to be able to restore a ful... Read more

Answer:Upgrading Win XP to Win 7- Downloads missing some drivers and Thinkpad tools?

Hello,

For the ThinkPad T60's device drivers, you will want to install the Windows 7-specific versions, and not the XP ones, unless the driver description explicitly states it is for both operating systems.

I am not familiar with Multimedia Center or Roxio Business Creator, so will defer to others to assiste you there.

In many instances, newer versions of Windows will have "inbox" driver support for older hardware such as video and audio chips, wired and wireless network adapters, and so forth.  You can download a copy of the ThinkVantage System Update software and use that to install any device drivers which are not provided through the operating system.

Hello everyone, just recently acquired a brand new Thinkpad and of course to my dismay it had Vista. I proceeded to install XP after making some SATA settings changes in the bios everything went pretty smoothly. I however have a problem with the drivers, it appears this newer 7440-WGG has different hardware than the rest of the thinkpads. A quarter to perhaps a third of the drivers don't work with this newer machine. The AUDIO driver on the website, Conexant.... will not work nor  will the MODEM driver. Furthermore i have an Unknown PCI device, Unknown device  as well an unknown SM BUS controller in device manager. I have attempted to install all chipset drivers as well as the above mentioned devices but most will not work. Can someone please provide a  link to the AUDIO and Modem drivers for this machine. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad R400 7440-WGG Drivers on Website?

Hi miamimd1,Most lenovo drivers require Windows XP at SP2 point to be present so first make sure you have it. Second, installing lenovo drivers can get tricky sometimes. For any driver, simply downloading and running the setup does not install it. installing lenovo drivers is a two step process namely extraction of the file to a location the first setup file chooses [by default typically C:\Drivers\..] and secondly going to that location and running the actual driver's setup. The instructions are given on all pages for lenovo drivers:-[Extracting file]Make sure to be logged on with administrative privileges on the target computer.Locate the folder where the file was downloaded.Locate the file that was downloaded and double-click it.Follow the instructions on the screen. In the Select Destination Location window, click Next. If you would like to select a different folder, click Browse. In the Ready to Install window, click Install. All the necessary files will be extracted to the folder selected in Extracting File Step 5.[Installing files]Make sure the checkbox next to Install ..... now is checked and clickFinish.Follow the instructions on the screen to complete installation and restart the computer.

Hi!I did a clean install of windows 8.1 after installing a new SSD to a lenovo thinkpad yoga, and I cannot seem to install any intel drivers. This is a serious problem, because I can't use connect to the internet, and if I cannot do so, then I can't use the auto-update functionality. Additionally, I cannot even install the auto-update driver. I tried installing the SCCM .INF files as well, that didn't change anything. I'm at my wit's end here. Anybody got any ideas?

Answer:Cannot properly install any Intel drivers on lenovo thinkpad yoga

If you can borrow a USB to ethernet adapter, you could try updating over LAN. As for the driver, i have mine working on a TPY12 with a fresh Windows Install. Before doing the install I added the driver to the Win8 install USB, and during the Win8 install there is a point where you can load a driver. This worked fine, but after installing and doing a million Windows and SysUpdate updates the Wifi driver update keeps showing. I've tried installing it a few times, to no avail. Wifi still works, so for now I'll just have to ignore that update.

My display drivers are old almost 2 years now. It's not very professional from Lenovo to be so lazy about updating drivers. Someone asked this before, and guy from Lenovo said to him that current drivers are working OK so there is no need for updating them. Well, newer drivers are obviously working better, but Lenovo doesn't care enough I guess.. Will never recommend Lenovo to anyone.. Sorry for mistakes in text, English is my foreign language..

Answer:500-15ISK - No Lenovo Tool for drivers check for Ideapad like Thinkpad?

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Based on your previous forum posting I am assuming that you are using Windows 7.  Unfortunately for Windows 7,  the Ideapad product line has no utility for doing updates like the ThinkVantage System Update Tool for Thinkpads.  With Windows 10, Lenovo introduced an application called Companion 3 which can be used to scan your computer for updates like drivers.

To whom it may concern, The wireless drivers on my Lenovo Thinkpad T60p 2007-8EU L39Y4Y8, are not working. I have uninstalled them, and re-installed them. Same files I have used after several reformats of the machine. However, this time, the Lenovo Thinkvantage software I used to turn on and configure WiFi, is apparently also missing from the box.  I had the executable, which I have used every time I have reformated the machine, installed it, downloaded patches, etc. Sitll can´t find the WiFi menu. I see my options as 1) Re download the drivers and ThinkVantage software ... and maybe... 2) Reformat everything again? Comments? Suggestions? Links to the right stuff appreciated.  Navigating this site, increasingly difficult. Regards, Jean-Pierre

Hi, I got first X240 to our company. I have had serious problems to install drivers into operating system. All Windows updates are up to date, thinkvantage system update has been run numerous times. Unfortunately, I had to install all thinkvantage programs manually as well as drivers. Now there is one particular unknown device listed in device manager. I have downloaded and installed the right Thinpad wlan driver from the drivers section for x240. I have still problems to get wlan controller identified by Windows 7. I have also tried to install those drivers manually. I am starting to wonder that there is something wrong with the drivers or the hardware itself. I have installed around 450+ Lenovo Thinkpads during my career. Any suggestions? Is there known issue with the x240 wlan controller driver? Thanks in advance.

Answer:ThinkPad X240 missing WLAN drivers on Windows 7 64bit Enterprise

Hi Supre5,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m really sorry to hear that you had trouble installing wireless LAN card driver for your Lenovo Thinkpad X240.

I would like to thank you for the effort you took to search the same in Lenovo Support Page.

First of all, you need to find the Hardware ID of the device for which you need the drivers.

 1. Right click on the device that you need to identify, then choose properties.
 2. Once you have the properties Windows Click on the details tab.
 3. On the details tab Choose Hardware ID on the Property Drop down box.
Spoiler (Highlight to read)
Eg: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_10F5&SUBSYS_20EE17AA&REV_03

Go to PCI DATABASE and enter the DEV value into the device search. Find the matching VEN value from the results and that would be the exact driver you require for your system.

Hope this helps! Post back if you face any difficulties in installing the specified driver.

Best regards,
Mithun.

I normally have a C:/, H:/, J:/, N:/, X:/, and Y:/ drive, but in a mysterious phenomenon I have lost all of those. I have work to save on those drives, and they are inaccessible. I have attempted to go to Disk Management, but I am denied "access rights," presumably as I am not a licensed IT guy. If there is anything that can be done, I need it done.

Answer:Missing Network Locations--Windows 8.1, Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga

You needn't be a licensed (or even unlicensed) IT guy to use Disk Management, but I am guessing that you are using a work computer that is probably in a domain and you will need to get help from your IT department.

Network do not found when starting the laptop which is docked. You need to unplug network cable from docking station and put back...that normally helps.Without docking station the networks works well. Also sometimes keyboard and mouse stops working (those are connected to docking station.

Answer:T450S in Lenovo ThinkPad Ultra Dock, network missing at startup

I have a very similar Problem with some T440s and Ultra Dock.Although replugging the cable to the Dockingstation doens't work for me. The Notebook is running Windows 7 64 Bit Enterprise and is ( or should be ) plugged to a 1 gb LAN with Cisco Switches. Using the Networkinterface on the T440s works fine until i use the Dockingstation. The Problem seems to be the auto negotiation between the Dock and the Switchport. When autonegotiation is disabled in Windows ( setting to 1gb/s fullduplex didn't work though) and setting the Adapter to 100mb/s fullduplex, the connection is stable.  With autonegotiation activated Windows tells me there is no Ethernet Cable attached, so there is or seems to be no physical link.

The card reader is broken because of a bug, which changes the device id from 823 to 822 when rebooting from linux. If you shut down and power up, the bug is not present. Still, for reference here is the correct INF for the card reader, which supports both 823 and 822 ids: [Ricoh]

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Where did you get the prompt for needed driver and what are the devices that needs it?

Usually checking the device manager for yellow marks or black down arrow will say if a driver is not correctly working.
Depending on the applications , which would also prompt if driver update is needed for its services .

Can you provide further details on the prompt and likewise the Machine number from the sticker label or from here.

Hey, my Yoga 710-14IKB is once again missing sound drivers after a windows update. I've navigated to http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/no/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-710-14ikb/downloads and located the latest audio driver for my laptop, which was released 20th of july in 2016. I've then installed the driver that I downloaded, restarted the PC, and still no audio drivers. I mouseover the sound icon in the Windows 10 task bar, and it says "No Audio Output device is installed". I right click this icon, select "playback devices" where I am greeted by the message "No audio devices are installed". I right click the text and ensure that both disconnected and disabled devices are shown, of which there are none. What do I do now? Edit: I've performed the system update scan on the same page as the driver downloads, and the only two drivers that are recommended that I install are "Connect2" and "Camera driver for Chicony - 10".

Two questions: I've been thinking about buying an X230 (or the X1 Carbon), but the more I look the more I think I should take advantage of the ability to upgrade the x230 with both more RAM and a WWAN-fitting SSD by buying the minimum specs available.  The tests I've seen have mostly been with the x230 with the i5 chip and an HDD.  When I compared the i5 and i7 chips (http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i7-3520M-vs-Intel-Core-i5-3320M) they seemed to be pretty similar.  Is the i5 sufficiently fast with an SSD or would I regret trying to be extra cheap.  Also, is it silly to get a model with an SSD drive already in it, if I'm going to get an mSATA drive anyway? Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks,.

Answer:Thinkpad X230 i5 vs i7, HDD vs. SSD

I have an X230 with the i5 CPU and a 500Gb 7200-rpm hard drive. It is plenty fast to do anything I need including having 2 machines running on top of the Windows 8 host (3 separate machines all running at the same time). Even so, I can run anything else I want. It is certainly fast enough to work with an SSD. I did not do SSD because they are not big enough and are still subject to catastrophic failure (no gentle failure for SSD's).  .... JDH

So I'm guessing it's trying to connect to the peripheral devices... Did anyone here have the same problem or can help me solve this? Thank you in advance! Kind regards Jens

Answer:Lenovo G500s Bluetooth Peripheral Device Drivers missing

hi Jens,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Regarding your concerns:
1. From this link  that hardware ID is pointing to a Bluetooth Hands-free Audio Gateway by Broadcom.

Since you already installed the Bluetooth driver, can you try one of the following:
a. Navigate to the C:\Drivers\Bluetooth\Broadcom and run the setup.exe file to re-install the Broadcom Bluetooth Driver
b. Follow this guide on how to manually install the BTHENUM device driver (point the driver to the  C:\Drivers\Bluetooth\Broadcom folder).
c. Install the WIDCOMM Bluetooth Software

2. If you have a bluetooth headset / speaker that was previously connected before, it's possible that these devices are automatically pairing themselves to the machine everytime you restart. Try to check if installing the Bluetooth driver in problem #1 resolves the issue.

I'm considering making the switch to a ThinkPad X230, but I need big storage space (right now I keep a HDD in the Ultrabay of my T420s).  Can anyone recommend some 512 GB SSD options?  I want quality and reliability and a good warranty.  I wish Lenovo offered one as I prefer to keep the all the parts backed by Lenovo, but in this case they offer no option so I have to look elsewhere. I have done some searching and the new Samsung 840 Pro Series looks good:http://www.samsung.com/us/computer/memory-storage/MZ-7PD512BW There is also an older Samsung 830 Series, and I believe Crucial makes a 512GB option as well. Also, if I add a mSATA SSD under the palm rest, could Lenovo really deny me warranty on unrelated issues in the future because of that?  I buy 3-year and 4-year on-site warranties on my machines (and I have used them), so I do not want to jeapordize my warranty.

This might be of some help to those who are thinking of adding RAM to their X230 notebooks and thinking of Transcend RAM modules as an option. In 2013 I had purchased a X230 with 4GB RAM module in single slot. Now when I wanted to add another 8 GB RAM, I saw references to Kingston, Hynix, Samsung, Corsair brands in some posts in this forum. Where I live none of these brands are readily available, only Transcend is available in the shops that I frequent. Today I purchased Transcend DDR3 8GB 1600MHz SODIMM module, CL11 2Rx8 512Mx8 (Part no. TS1GSK64V6H). This is 1.5V module. I have already plugged in this module and system now shows 12GB of RAM  Do note that the RAM ICs on the PCB are Hynix brand and the product is Transcend. Here are the screenshots of CPU-Z tool on Windows 7 Home Professional OS.

Answer:THINKPAD X230 MONITOR AND PEN

Hi

Welcome To Lenovo Community

Sorry to hear about the issue you are facing,  Please try the following
Connect external Monitor, and then enter into Control Panel under Hardware and Sound scroll down to the section that shows Pen and Touch and Tablet PC Settings Now try Calibrate. Follow on screen options
Once the calibration is completed you should be able to use the Pen & all its functions

Hope This Helps

Answer:thinkpad x230 problem

If you mean that screen comes back after you press enter on your hard disk? If so it could be. Your hard disk no longer bootable due to Windows is damaged or something else caused the drive to lose its boot so then you would need a reinstall but it could be another issue causing it so I will let some one else give you more ways to fix this.

Hi All, We've recently upgraded to Wireless AC, and from reading around, I find that there may not be a way to put Wireless AC cards (I've been looking at the Intel AC-7260) in our ThinkPad X230's. Can anyone please confirm if this is true? This BIOS whitelisting is a ridiculous idea. If I pay £1000+ for a laptop, I don't expect restrictions on what hardware I can use with the laptop. Sort it out Lenovo!! Thanks,Oliver

Answer:ThinkPad X230 Wireless AC

Nobody? Nothing? We've got over 900 Lenovo laptops and desktops on-site, and if Lenovo are going to restrict us from doing simple things like change a wireless card, I will definitely be looking at using a different manufacturer when it comes round to refresh time. Disappointing.
