Question: Worst service yet

I purchased a laptop and when it was delivered 3 days ago the keyboard did not work. After being on the phone 57 minutes (I timed it) and transferred to 7 yes 7 different people I was told ok you can return it. I had used my dell card to purchase it and needed another one right away. I was then told that the return will not be on my card for 30 days after they get their junk back. So I am stuck paying interest on the card for something I sent back AND for the new one I had to purchase. I tried to find a different place to post this but could not and the phone service was so horrible I could not get through to anyone else to complain. I have purchased 8 dells in the past and this will be the last. The only reason I purchased again was because it had 3 day free shipping and I need it for work.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Worst service yet

You really can't blame Dell there . I understand it can be frustrating but thing do happen ( broken ) at times when you use delivers . At least they're giving you a replacement . And the credit card charge is normal with returns, all companies do that. Nobody is going to give you back your credit before the 30 days period

On May 17th, 2016 I ordered Inspiron I7 7000 laptop, Skullcandy headphones and 8GB of laptop memory. I received the headphones and memory around the 20th. The laptop was shipped on the 20th. On the 24th FedEx delivered the laptop to the wrong address and they were unable to recover it. I sent the FedEx case number to Dell customer service on the 26th and they stated a replacement would be sent out next day air. Also on May 26th, Dell billing department stated my Dell Preferred Account would be pushed back to July for my first payment. I received and email on the 27th that Dell has processed a replacement and I will be notified when it will be shipped out. I requested an order number so I can track the item and I received another email on June 1st stating that an order number has not been generated even though the replacement has been processed. They will send me an email when it is shipped. It is June 7th and I have not received an email. A Dell customer resolution rep contacted me (only after I filed a complaint with the Better Buisness Bureau) and informed me that a replacement laptop HAS NOT been processed. Dell customer service WILL lie to you. Please do not buy anything from this corporation.

I received an email now is on 09.01//Yesterday a rep from Dell called at my house and told if I order for a commercial Metropolitan video card or something. At this point I'm furious, I never ever have to deal with this type of customer service. You guys are the worst. That's why I don't want to order anything from Dell. I need the ink pretty bad and Dell make me wait forever, and then when I checked my order online..they want me sign a delay order consent, I tried to do it but always I get an error message. I am so disappointing, very, very bad busines

I have purchased a lenovo laptop MT/Mod. Serial# 7758-52Q/ME-15008 Part# AB08022505 Serial# ABxxxxxxxx from TRISITA (EMALL, Shop No. 109, H.O.: 34A, Metcalf Street, Kolkata ? 700013). This laptop is eligible for extra 2 years free warranty and 1 year accidental damage cover. I have received the redemption code of warranty update from an email [email protected] of Lenovo Customer Care.According to the instruction of the dealer of the shop (TRISITA) I have sent this redemption code with original bar code and the photocopy of purchase receipt of the laptop to this address - Channel Technologies, A-74, Sector -2, Noida ? 201301 (Phone number 0120-4080804/830). After sending all the required documents I am not getting any information or confirmation of this warranty from Lenovo. I have mailed several times to [email protected] and Channel Technologies but no response from any end till date. This is really frustrating for me and I think that I made a big mistake by purchasing a lenovo product.  Moderator Note; s/n edited for members own protection Message Edited by andyP on 11-27-2008 09:13 PM

We used to buy a lot of Lenovo laptops. Sometimes we have to call for support - and I never experienced worst support from anywhere.Today's example - HDD passes away in one of our x61 tablet week ago. I called the company who sells those to us, and got a replacement next day. Problem is - now I need recovery disks, so I called Lenovo. They say - they will not send it to me. Because they have no record of that HDD was replaced. Hello? Create that record, do something, just send them  - the price of the question $50 dollars, why you have to give hard time for a loyal customer?

Answer:Worst customer service

Welcome to the forum! The story is a little more complicated than it initially seems: had you sent the machine back to Lenovo (assuming it's still in warranty) and not to the third party, you would've gotten it back with a new hard drive loaded with the appropriate OS that had originally shipped with your machine. Lenovo is really not at fault here. As customers, we have to follow certain procedures as well, to help them help us. Sometimes it takes a mistake for one to learn, and I'm sure that it will be the case with you guys...

LENOVO software support really sucks. I have been having a problem with my A720 for quite a while now and I am getting quite frustrated. The latest incident was when the decision was to send me a new recovery disk to start all over with my A720 at the original factory setup. I was immediately charged $59.00 for the recovery disk which other companies provide for free. Now almost two weeks later, I am still waiting for the disk to arrive. I called LENOVO to check and they told me they don't even have a tracking number yet. LENOVO just doesn't seem to care about taking care of its customers once you have paid for the computer. I will never buy from them again. I paid almost $2000.00 for a computer I can't get to work right and for a warranty service that doesn't seem to care if it does. I will get my revenge through Consumer Reports, PC World, and a few other places. LENOVO has screwed the wrong person.

Answer:Worst software service I have ever known

Recovery discs for free? Five years ago maybe but not in 2012. I think Dell was the last company to offer recovery discs for 10$ but since Windows 8 even they don't. What about recovery partition? If you still have it then you can recover your computer to factory condition or you can extract preloaded software from the partition and use it after you install Windows from any Windows 7 or 8 DVD. I just don't understand why you would like to buy recovery discs for $60 if you already have it for free.

I had my x200t for like 2 months , and just realized this one is not the one i wanted. The two finger touch function is not working or let's say  the panel doesn't support it. ok , then here is the story... Back to the time when i was ordering , I called twice and emailed once to confirm this model support two finger touch function, and all of the agents said yes , the old model has been put on EOL. So, I placed my order ( 2 or 3 days before win 7 released) then I was quite busy with my exams untill X'mas. During Xmas, I installed Win 7, simple tap , etc. and found out this model does not support two finger touch function.  Then I called customer service, Agent told me it was a mistake, the new panel is not ready for x200t and he could not handle it . However, the manager was away and would be back on dec 30th , so he asked me to leave her a message. So I did that ,and never got a reply.  Then I called again (Jan 4th), this time I told the agent I wanted to buy a x200t , and was wondering if this model has the two finger touch function , this agent said yes. Then I told him my x200t doesn't have it , the agent was like" oh, you already had a x200t ?". I said yes, then he hung up.(WTF?).  I called again, the 3rd agent was like " no, you heard it wrong ,and he defined multitouch as pen+finger" and I told him I explicitly asked if this model has "two finger touch function not just saying multi touch", and he just kept making excuses. Since I dont have an... Read more

Answer:LENOVO has the worst customer service.

The confusion might arise because the older x200 screens were called "dual touch." Unfortunately, by dual touch they meant pen or finger, not dual touch in that you could do two-finger touch actions. I was very confused about what that meant myself until someone else on the forum straightened me out. As far as Lenovo's customer service goes, last year I personally had a nightmarish time dealing with their warranty service department. i found that the general attitude was that they simply aren't interested in helping their customers. I encountered the same thing just yesterday when they didn't want to honor the warranty on the replacement computer they sent me after the first one broke. However, there are a few good ones out there. You could try and private message "Mark Lenovo" on this site. I don't know if he handles this kind of issue, but he's the one who finally straightened out my warranty service problems for me last time. Maybe he could at least suggest somebody to talk to.

Clearly, I WAS WRONG!!! I doubt if I would buy thinkpad again. I wouldn't result in writing this if wasn't being so upset! I had a 1st gen x1 carbon but the lenovo customer service in CANDA just ruined such a beautiful laptop. 1 month before the warranty is going to expire, I encounter a motherboard failure and send the laptop in for repair. The whole experience is smooth until I got back the "FIXED" laptop.  Not only the system is gone (left the laptop in an unusable state until I reinstall the sytem by myself), the wifi is no longer working! ........  I had to send back the laptop again.  Then I had to go overseas so I could only receive the laptop a few weeks later.  NOW guess what, they promised they've checked everything but the fan creates a strange noise when moving the laptop.   GUESS WHAT. now they claimed that the laptop is already out of warranty and they wouldn't repair again ???? WHAT????  so the user should bear the consequence of unreliable repair center???  I called in several times, spending hours with customer serivces who just keep redirecting me and shifting reposibility! I have no idea how I ever trusted Lenovo. I bought my IdeaPad Y400 to be my college laptop. It was defective in a matter of between immediately and 4 months, including the fact the machine would not hibernate properly, causing the inability to charge it until I repeatedly changed between hibernation and powered/unpowered states to get it working again. Do you have any idea how much battery this thing burns through on S3? To make matters worse, the webcam also stopped functioning a couple months after direct purchase. So, I finally had the chance to send it in. Sure, I couldn't send in the hard drive, but it was a "hardware problem" as per the first tech I spoke to who initiated the RMA, and I had managed to replicate the behavior in virtually any OS I could give it from any entry point it would allow (Live CD, USB, EFI, Legacy Boot). At the same time, I had requested an AC adaptor, since I had just lost mine. The tech I spoke to the first time said that would be covered. One month later, I finally get the chance to send in my laptop, and it comes back WONTFIX. And no AC adaptor. Latest tech I spoke to gave me some completely different set of rules that the first tech did not. In other words, lost AC adaptor will simply just have to be replaced by me. I have been nothing but lied to by every facet of Lenovo support, and they have shirked their obligations at every turn. Where do I file a complaint with someone at Lenovo that would take it personally? And should ... Read more

The first one I had got NVIDIA graphics card issue. Please refer to this url: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-and-Z-series/Y480-crashes-due-to-Nvidia-driver/m-p/759823#.... I got it replaced few days ago. The graphics card issue seems to be gone. BUT, now the replacement is even worse.1. The power adapter doesn't work.2. The USB ports don't work.3. The USB ports break my mice. I also would like to share my customer service experience with you guys. So, I called in Lenovo for the first defected one that has graphics card issue. I called in within 21 days, they have never told me that I could get a replacement for a defected product within 21 days. Even worse, they told me to send it back for a repair (which basically they're gonna take apart my laptop). I told them that I can't afford not having a laptop to do my work. Then what they did was they offered me a 2yr-in home warranty so that I don't have to send the laptop to them. The price was $115 with a 15% tempting discount which ended up being $101. I told them I checked the price online and it's only $79. Then I asked how it could be different when a big company like you guys can have different price over the phone and online. They told me that the price might not be updated online. Even worse, they challenged me by saying this: "You could try buying it online, but when you called us back you may not be able to get the 15% discount anymore!" WOW Lenovo WOW! You treat your customers like that? S... Read more

I have purchased Lenova G550 Laptop on Aug 14th 2009,just after 3months My laptop wireless stopped working
I have returned my laptop on Dec 26th-2009 to the company for repair. Case Number  WN151933
In January 2010 I have made 4 calls to the company since I have not received my laptop fixed, got the reply  saying that I would receive my machine in a week
Again I have made a 5th call to the Customer care people on Feb 3rd, then They were saying there is a optical drive is missing from the laptop and I have to pay $160, but I am sure that I have sent the laptop with out missing any part and I was not communicated about the missing part to my initial 4 calls in January.
After I have confirmed that I have sent my machine with out missing any part, I was told that the case is being escalating to Customer relations Dept and I would get a call from them in 24hours,, But I have?t received any call . After that I have called them 7,8 times but hearing same stuff that case is escalated to CR ????
Since I did?t have my laptop, I have been lost my productivity in my career, I am Planning to approach legally thru BBB or Consumer forum

Answer:Worst Lenova Customer Relations Service

Madhupv,

Sorry to hear about your troubles - it does seem odd that a system would show up missing the optical drive, as that drive is not intended to be removed by the customer.   I'll see what we can find through your service case number that you have shared,  and I would also ask that you send me your contact information - name, address, phone, and the serial number for your system (if you have it written down) so that I can be sure to get customer relations engaged.

The customer relations team is very responsive typically, and so I would have to assume there was some issue with the escalation up through service.

Thanks for speaking up!

I'll look for your private message, and will check into the service case in the mean time.

UPDATE - I have found your records.  This was not yet escalated, but is being done so now.

Best regards,

Mark

6 months after brand new Y40-80 I started getting a flickering on my display. It only got worse. I've updated the display drivers and the bios with no change. Then I disconnected the screen and reconnected it. It hasn't been flickering nearly as much since doing that but it still occurs. I'm sure it will get worse with time like it did the first time. Anything I can do short of buying a new display?  That being said, lenovo has the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Their escalation team exists simply to escalate YOU...from slightly irritated to murderous rage. I understand computers can have issues but based on their customer service I will never buy lenovo again.

Edit - Screen flickering is back to what it was before. I ordered a new screen from Amazon so hopefully that will fix the problem. I am worried that if the issue is with the male 30 pin connector/ribbon that plugs into the new screen then I'll just be back at square one. Is there anyway to determine if the issue is with the screen vs. the male 30 pin/ribbon?

I have just experienced the worst customer service of my entire life. My husband and I purchased an HP Pavilion and have been having issues with the display screen since the beginning. After many, many calls to tech support with no resolution, the laptop was finally taken in 2 weeks ago for diagnostics. We were told that the laptop would be back to us on Sept 20; however, in an update yesterday, we were told a part was on backorder until futher notice, and the fix date was unknown. I called tech support today and insisted I speak to a supervisor to get this situation resolved. The supervisor--someone named Joseph--sounded sympathetic, said he would speak with a case worker, then put me on hold for an hour and never got back to me. I tried calling the tech centre back several times, and each time would be transferred to Joseph's line, only to be put into "hold purgatory" indefinitely. Joseph never did pick up the call. I will never again purchase an HP product.

Lenovo has the worst customer service I have experienced in years.  This is regardless of industry or product.  My ThinkPad recently displayed a message indicating it had an internal defect and directed me to place a service call.  I called repeatedly -- at least 6X -- and the Lenovo phone system kept hanging up on me!  This happened over a 3-day period.  I finally gave up, turned the machine off, rebooted and was up and running again.  Is the problem still out there?  Probably.  But I can't rely on Lenovo to stand behind its product and help get it fixed. I received a new error message from Lenovo Solution Center today and was directed to contact support for assistance.  I tried this time to do a live chat.  After repeated attempts to log into this so-called service, I received a grayed-out live chat window which did absolutely nothing.  I shut down the window after 10 minutes and tried live chat again.  I received a grayed-out live chat window which has been spinning for 45 minutes and I'm still without someone to talk to about the problem.  I guess the answer from Lenovo is to make it so difficult for customers to reach them that they finally give up.  Saves on support expense.  I can't wait for this machine to die -- I'll take great satisfaction in throwing it in the trash ... where it belongs! I will never again use a Lenovo product and would strongly recommend anyone reading this entry ... It is extremely painful experience with me on account of a Lenovo Laptop. After having good experience with HP, Toshiba and Dell, on 4th July 2010 I purchased my 4th laptop (Lenovo Ideapad series 3000 Y450) from Delhi Lenovo show room (Nehru Place, efuture) for my spouse. Since my friends advised me to keep away from Lenovo, I first negotiated with the show room to ensure me that they will take care of any problems with my laptop and I should not be redirected anywhere. My laptop screen suddenly went blank without any reason in december. Since I have one more laptop and a workstation, I took the laptop to the lenovo outlet on 01-01-2011. I realised how big the mistake I commited by buying a lenovo laptop. The guy sent me to Skylark building (3rd Floor) and again I was sent to another building where I was asked to contact the helpline with some telephone number. God knows why my purchase was not registered. After a lot of deliberation the laptop was taken for repair without giving me any timeline. I was given the following response on 8th day:  - LCD cable & LCD module were found faulty and demanded  - Your note book submitted with customer name : Unique Infoways ( Kamal Kishore )  - Your case id.: 4270142136   - Service Centre details : Comnet Vision , B1 Aggarwal Bhawan, Nehru Place, New Delhi ph. 011-26210431, 9899696144  Even if I am getting my laptop back immediately and wit... Think hard before buying a Lenovo product. This is my first Lenovo product and the worst customer service I hvae encountered, with zero care for customer satisfaction or even basic service concepts of returning calls and answering questions. The machine was sent to Lenovo, both parts were replaced, arrived back to me on Sep. 18th. Lenovo Senior Management - This is by far the worst customer service experience I had with your CS agents compared to any of the other store or product firm I have dealt with. I do not have too much time after already wasting so much more with your agents...so would be just to the point and concise. 1. Got a Yoga 720 laptop during cyber monday. First, the shipment somehow got stuck at some UPS faciity due to unknown error from your system sending a request to hold off the shipment at a facility little far from my city in USA (just because I missed the package first time due to incorrect shipping updates on site). And then the update on the website was that receiver requested to pick up the laptop at the UPS facility!!!! Wasted few hours bringing in the Lenovo and UPS agent together and getting things resolved.2, The laptop then turned out to have hardware issues with the fan unit and overheating...Tech support coukdn't help and then suggested to get a replacement. Here the nightmare started...3. 1st agent created a new case and somehow messed up. With official email from the agent that Order Management as per policy will reach out within 24 - 48 business hrs for return and then in parallel help expediting shipment of the new laptop, still no one even reached out after 3 business days. 4. 2nd CS agent gave all kind of crappy response that sir the request is in process, we are building your new unit (which is a joke as I just ordered a pre-configured laptop w/o any cu... Hi All, I may be having the worst customer experience of my life (hopefully). Here is a summary of my tale: I am about to enter the final stage of a PhD and start tutoring, so I need a portable laptop.I believe that Lenovo is a professional company, which will provide quality laptops and good service. I choose them over dell and apple. February: Buy x240 with 3 year warrenty. 1 month for laptop to arrive. Comes with a Dead pixel near middle of screen. March: As permitted by my warranty, I replace hard drive with new working ssd - it fails smart disk test after a few days in laptopI replace hard drive with new working ssd - it fails smart disk test after a few days in laptop April: After two new samsung ssds failing (and the third one I bought not having any issues in my desktop) and five installs (and two months wasted) I ring a CSRI explain I think I may have an issue with the motherboard. He says, send in the laptop and the SSD and we will replace/fix it. I clarify several times that the HD is not the one I recieved with the laptop. He says it is no issue. I get sent a box and send the laptop in. May: A week later I recieve call from CSR (ALVIN) saying that I will need to pay for new hard drive. He obviously doesn't understand my issue at all. I am unwilling to pay unless they send me back my disk so I can get the refund on it. He says he will get back to me. I say I will take a quote as I want to see if it is reasonable. After a ...  I have been searching and reviewing computers to buy. Came across the K430 but after reading horror stories about Video Card Replacement, Power Supplies and Turbo Switch not working, I decided to call support and seek advise or a simple opinion. The Support Specialist shockingly informed me that she did not know anything about Card Upgrade and recommended that I speak with Sales. Called sales, waited for 30 minutes and was also informed that they know nothing about Video Cards. This is what kills a company, the fact that it's own employees are distancing themselves from their products is a disgrace. Wake up Lenovo, Wake up!!

I bought a T500 two months ago with Windows Vista and since then I have two frequent problems. 1) The Battery is not charging up properly. It charges sometimes.2) Wireless connection is getting dropped off very often. I called Customer Service 3 times . They once replaced the battery , But still the problem persists. I believe they have least knowledgable people in Customer Service. I dont know how they are serving corporate customers.  The Customer service representative offered me strange suggestions like rebooting the machine 11 times (Dont know how they got the number 11).They could not resolve the problem after 3 calls. So I am going to try updating all the drives and see if it helps. If not I will need to request for a refund.I was really happy with my earlier Dell Latitude D620 . I regret my decision to go with the Lenovo... Any one had similar experience ??

Answer:T500 Wireless Connection/Power problem and Worst Customer Service

In regards to the battery, it is normal for the battery to not charge when the charge level >= 97%. This is to lengthen the battery's lifespan. (Leaving the battery continuously charged at 100% will accelerate the aging process of the Li-Ion battery, making the battery lose charge faster if it were kept at a lower charge level) If the battery fails to charge at lower charge intervals, I would suggest that you look at your power manager settings and make sure they are set correctly. (Otherwise it might be a battery issue like you suggested) About the wireless card, that is a very common, yet strange issue amongst the T400/T500. Although I have not experienced any issues with my WLAN (I do have problems with WWAN) - I suggest that you acquire the latest drivers directly from Intel. (suppose that you have an Intel card) And regarding customer service, I can totally second with you on that. I was quite disappointed when I first called Lenovo, thinking that I would receive the superior "business/corporate class" customer service, but only to get calls answered by reps who have no idea on what they are dealing with. (Every time I call I have to be "esculated" to a supervisor, be promised that I would receive a callback from them since they are on the other line with another customer - just to be ignored and no callbacks afterwards) To further disappointment, it seems that the reps also do not know their products very well. Many of them doesn't even know what a GPS is a... Read more

I bought the laptop a year ago. It has been repaired 3 times. The last time it was taken care of by MichelleCustomer Advocate, Customer Complaint Resolutions,Customer Satisfaction Programs,Lenovo Services in Canada. She said she is going to replace the unit  after 2 unsuccessful repairs. But the third time when I received the laptop it has 2GB less memory and the problem with big cursor, screen flickering, blank scrreen still persists. And now I find that it's the same unit too as confirmed by the technical rep 4 days ago. Wow!!!

This problem started after 2 weeks I bought the laptop and still is going on. But now the customer advocate does not respond to my email neither does she respond to my voicemail. The technical service rep says she can't do anything until customer advocate responds and it's been 4 days now and still no solution.

My lenovo escalation number is  SF36341.

I see that many are experiencing the same problem with this model.

Does Lenovo care????

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

Hiya

======
There is a flaw in the Winsock Proxy service in Microsoft Proxy
Server 2.0, and the Microsoft Firewall service in ISA Server 2000,
that would allow an attacker on the internal network to send a
specially crafted packet that would cause the server to stop
responding to internal and external requests. Receipt of such a
packet would cause CPU utilization on the server to reach 100%, and
thus make the server unresponsive. The Winsock Proxy service and
Microsoft Firewall service work with FTP, telnet, mail, news,
Internet Relay Chat (IRC), or other client applications that are
compatible with Windows Sockets (Winsock). These services allow
these applications to perform as if they were directly connected to
the Internet. These services redirect the necessary communications
functions to a Proxy Server 2.0 or ISA Server computer, thus
establishing a communication path from the internal application to
the Internet through it.

Question: Best of the worst?

I'm wondering you guys, if you had to pick one of the store-bought pc computers, what would you all pick and why?

I know custom computers are better, but for average computer users who only upgrade things like RAM and Video Cards...which are the best out of a bad lot?

Excluding Dell please. I mean ones you can walk into a Best Buy, and take home.

Answer:Best of the worst?

HP-decent
Compaq-probably the best deal
Sony- OVERPRICED (I have one...decent machine, too much useless software comes pre-loaded)
IBM- good quality, bad price

Question: Worst PC ever...

Ok so, I formatted and installed Windows XP Home SP2 3 days ago. Last night I finished installing all my programs, all my drivers, apps, the whole sha-bang.

Today, I had to shut down to fix one of my cathodes. I started back up and the Windows loading screen came up like normal. Then, instead of going to the welcome screen, it went black. And it sits there forever. I tried at least 8 times with the same result.

So I put in Knoppix Live to save all my stuff so I can reformat again. Well Knoppix goes to the loading screen and sits on "Configuring devices" forever and does not start. Great... Tried that 3 times.

Now I put in my XP Home CD that I just got 3 days ago. Brand spankin new.

I put the disk in, it says "setup is loading files" and then says "Setup is starting Windows" and sits there.. forever... just like the rest...

So now, I'm out of options. I don't know what the fuck to do. My next plan of attack is eraseing the disk with the Ultimate Boot CD and [email protected] killdisk...

Unless anyone has any other suggestions?

At this point, I don't know if I need PC help or psychiactric help...

Answer:Worst PC ever...

When you fixed your cathode you might have bumped a card, I'd reseat any pci/agp/pcie cards and memory and see if it boots.

Hello all, trying to disinfect my girlfriend's computer, I've installed Ad-Aware, Spybot, and Kaspersky Auto Virus. With msconfig and the task manager I see a bunch of processes that I have no idea what they are, and some of them have no result on google, which is making this all that much harder to fix. I'm pretty sure there are multiple trojans and even if I delete them (assuming I can see them,) they come back. If I uncheck things in the startup menu, they recheck. Every time I open up Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, the site immediately changes to a random advertisement page. Also, when the internet is connected, the laptop recieves random popups at random times to more advertisement pages. Certain trojans that are detected will delete, but come right back, and even if the program says it will delete on startup, it fails, and it's still there with another virus check. I cannot do online virus checks due to IE and Mozilla not working.

I already found surfsidekick and fixed it using this site, I dont know what the rest of the trojans even are. I believe surfsidekick is all gone, I could be wrong. Some of the processes that I have seen are:

explorer.exe (Not bad)
rundll32.exe (Not sure if this is bad)
afhcp.exe (This appears 3 times at once)
jvpxpt.exe (Sometimes appears 2 times at once)
bdcyv.exe

pdpxgcr.dll was found by Kaspersky Auto Virus, as was some of the above processes.

If anybody can help with this I will be eternally grateful.

Answer:Trying To Fix The Worst Pc Ever, Please Help

Hello,Please don't start with fixing items yourself, because this is confusing and I see you already fixed some entries.... so the log won't show it anymore what we have to manually delete.I also see that you have Kaspersky and Norton installed. This is a very bad combination and can actually crash your system. So I recommend you get rid of Norton or Kaspersky. It is important you don't miss a step and perform everything in the right order!!Go to your controlpanel > software > add/remove programs and look if NewDotNet, New.Net, New.Net Applications or New.Net Domains is present and choose to uninstall. If not present, Download and use this uninstaller.* Please make sure your anti-virus and anti-spy ware programs don't hinder the complete removal of the new.net software. Question: Worst. Day. Ever.

I've had a nasty problem with my computer the whole day, and I NEED HELP DESPERATLY! I think it's the work of a virus, too!!

Problem #1: Boot sectors on my PC couldn't be found, therefore the OS(XP Home SP1) was not able to load up. I thought, "Ok, I'll check the forum." Got helpeful reply, but didn't seem to work because I didn't even know there was such thing as an administrator password, and I couldn't find out what my manufacturer set it to! So the brilliantly helpful page that would have worked perfectly didn't, because PowerSpec sucks royal @$$ and sets admin passwords for their customers.

Problem #2: I go into the BIOS to check why the OS couldn't be located, find that the computer can't seem to locate my one-and-only HD. "Well, this shouldn't be too difficult", so I go in and then set the drive to AUTO, thinking that it would straighten itself out.

Problem #3: It didn't straighten itself out. It says "No hard disk found."
I say "#@$%@#$%!!!?!"

Please help me find my HD!

Ok working on my fiance's sisters computer, this time its the other sister. She had some serious issues going on with multiple variants of vundo a couple rootkits, browser hijacker and some droppers. Its really quit messy. I couldnt hardly boot up the machine, but I have it cleaned up as much as i can now. It took forever to be able even load up the microsoft update page. let alone get the computer to update spybot s and d. So with that I have already done considerable work and I can post some of the earlier logs if needed. But here are the most current logs.
-Currently I keep getting an adaware watch warning that it is blocking "crt5.tmp (3680) from loading" it is triggering as a win32 downloaderinjector.

-None of the spyware programs seem to adequately clear the memory of these problems I been having with each reboot the keep reloading. But at least I could finally update adaware, windows xp, spybot s and d, mabm, and superantispyware. previously they would be blocked or hijacked if in a browser.

Question: Worst I have seen

This is my first post. I have spyware that is not allowing me to update the spyware protection I have or get to sites that might have spyware removal tools. I can only get into the computer by using safemode with networking. Superantispyware can't even be downloaded from a cd I have with a bunch of spyware tools. Of course it also blocks system restore as well.

Thanks for any help you can give

I think AVG is good except the false positives. Macaffe is also good. I don't think there's a good or bad program.
There all good, but I prefer others because of how they work and their protection method.

Question: Worst ISP

Post your reason for nominating the worst ISP

I don't know why I have such a huge chip on my should about AOL but anytime I try and help an AOL user - I just become extremely frustrated and disgusted.

I know not everyone knows a lot about PC's and I am far from knowing anything in the IT field but AOL users seem to have this nieveness (sp) about them

AOL (ISP) just brain washes their customers and basically handicaps them from doing basic functions that common users should be able to perform

(i.e Clearing Cache, Clearing Cookies, Typing in the URL field, Know where the URL box is, using Outlook, etc etc etc)

AOL to me is just a crap service and it frustrates me that so many people are just signing up for this crap just because they sent you some junk mail CD.

I have seen numerous polls that point AOL as the worst ISP to date yet so many people still use them. People get mad when I tell them I will not email an AOL account. They just don't get it.

Answer:Worst ISP

i am using earthlink right now and am not to thrilled.

First, My modem got toasted and it took them over two months and 4 phone calls for them to send me a new one.

second think is kinda strange, i have had their dsl for awhile and now they tell me it is no longer avalible in my area lol

anyway, just hasn't been a great experience IMO

Should I go in , sell the stuff for money to build a new pc ? Or should I try and get money to get a new motherboard ?

Answer:The worst day of my life ....

That's entirely up to you. There is no right or wrong answer. It boils down to your budget and whether or not you want to keep what you've already paid for. The best you could hope for would be to break even and simply start over. More likely, if you sell, you will lose money.

These files are gone and do not run.

Fixed recovery console.Hello X-Files,We ask that once you have posted your log and are waiting, please DO NOT "bump" your thread or make further replies until it has been responded to by a member of the HJT Team. The reason we ask this or do not respond to your requests is because that would remove you from the active queue that Techs and Staff have access to. The malware staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response, there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another HJT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond. That is why I have made an edit to your last post, instead of a reply. Please do not multiple post here, as that only pushes you further down the queue and causes confusion to the staff. Please be patient. Well I downloaded a bad torrent and got the windows update virus.

It kept popping up asking for me to run it, I kept hitting no and then I accidently hit yes in frustration.

I manually deleted the .exe in my temp folder and then I ran every virus software I could think of. However none of my software will update now, i'm assuming it's from the virus as it gives me some bogus error message and my internet works fine. . I did a spybot and ad-aware search and removed a few files I know weren't there before this incident. However the problem still persists and now all my scans turn up empty.

Any suggestions as to how I can purge my system?

Answer:Worst Virus i've ever had.

MalwareBytes normally does the trick on this sort of thing so download, install and then run that and you'll most likely get rid of it.

Ok. For the background info. The first indication that I had that something might be amiss with our family computer, was approximately a week ago. When I attempted to shut down, it instead, restarted. Thinking that I had clicked the wrong button, I shut down again, and it again restarted. Instantly, red flags went up. I proceeded to run a battery of spyware removal scans, of which several problems were found, and fixed. Still no shut down. I was beginning to think that maybe my problem wasn't related to any malware. Then, I was using google to search out possible answers, and clicked a link to tom's hardware, a known site, to which I was redirected to a site offering to sell me spyware removal tools! Go figure! Guilty conscience perhaps? It took 3 clicks to get to tom's hardware. I have ran more scans, from every solid program at my disposal and no more problems found. I've investigated my config file, and add/remove programs list, long shot I know, to which there is nothing out of the ordinary. The latest? Today I started having the "dcom error" "Dcom service has terminated unexpectedly and windows needs to be shut down." As I type this, I've already had to run "shutdown -a". At any rate, I know that all of this has to be related, it's just beyond my scope of imagination to locate this bugger. I've included a copy of my hijack this log for your perusal. ANY help at all, is greatly appreciated! Thank you in adva... Read more

First of all this virus will not let me download the GMER files, just like everything I try to download like any malware remover it crashes IE saying it incurred a problem and must close. Also it will not let make a zip file to send the attach text. So all I got is the dds.
Here`s what I`ve tried so far:

Like I said it won`t let me download any malware software files. It has also blocked my Mcaffe and windows defender. Microsoft update page times out and won`t load. It also disabled system restore. Even booting in safe mode I can`t access anything.
I bought an exturnal hard drive to save some files before I reinstall windows but my computer dosen`t recognise the drive. but the drive is recognised when I install it on my laptop. Next I bought a flash drive and downloaded Malwarebytes on my laptop. Now I can install it on my computer but it won`t execute.
Finally I said hell with I`m just going to bite the bullet and reinstall XP. When it started loading the files from my restore disk it stopped half way through and said it was missing a file. I could skip the file but I thought better of it because I might make things worse. I tried the disc on another drive with the same results. Someone told me the disc could be scratched, but I haven`t had a chance to try it on another computer since my laptop does not have a dvd drive. Do you think the virus could be making it stop the install of XP. Seems this thing has all the bases covered. Any help would be much appreciated. Th... Read more

Hi All,

First off, I'm not a computer rookie by an means. I've talked to several friends who are baffled by my problem as well...

I recently upgraded my system from an AMD X2 4600+ to a AMD Phenom II 940, which required a new MoBo and RAM. After backing up my computer to an separate internal drive, I formatted my main drive and reinstalled Windows XP Pro (with SP2). I began putting all my programs, drivers, and data back on the computer when I started to experience virus problems...AVG would pop-up saying it detected a problem blah blah blah. I tried Spybot, MalwareBytes, and AVG but the problem persisted. Eventually, it got so bad the computer wouldn't boot properly...after loading the Windows XP splash screen the system would shutdown and restart all over again. I tried running all the cleaning programs in SafeMode; they cleaned some things but the problem still persisted.

Since the first incident (3 days ago) I have reinstalled Windows about 8X's! I've tried formatting the main drive (quick and full), I've tried repairing the Windows installation (recovery console and automated)...nothing seems to work. A new install seems to get the computer cleaned, but it only lasts a little while.

I assumed the virus is residing on one of my two storage drives, so I disconnected them before reinstalling Windows. I then downloaded AVG, Spybot, Adaware, MalwareBytes, ComboFix, and SuperAntiVirus and ran each. I then attached the drives and ran the programs... Read more

Hi guys,

A year or two ago I built my Dad a great PC and from day one he said it was amazing. Fast, Great sound & Graphics etc. etc. and he never ever had a problem with it.

A few months back he brought it back to me saying it was 'playing up'. He told me it kept blue screening, sometimes freezing and then it would shut down or he'd power it off when freezing and then it wouldn't turn back on.

So I took a look. He unplugged it and brought it round. A couple of days later I started to have a look at it and it booted up just fine and everything was working. A few hours later it froze. I powered down and powered back up.

All lights and fans kicked in but no post, no windows, no display.

I left it for a few hours and booted up again and it worked. I tried to get into bios so I could do the classic format and wipe but it froze again.

After trying various things, with no success. I stripped the computer down to purely PSU and motherboard. I then reattatched everything, cables, fans, components and still nothing.

So I left it for the night.

I've been crazy busy busy ever since so it's sat in my room for a few months until tonight I finally had time to look at it. So i turned it on after hooking it up to a spare monitor and it booted fine. I went straight into bios to change boot and then proceeding in formatting and reinstalling windows 7.

No problems at all. Started tweaking windows 7 for him once it fully installed. Got network con... Read more

Question: Worst Websites

I'd like to nominate a couple of websites for being about the most unusable I've ever come across. The BBC's Top Gear website and the Elephant,co.uk websites.Top Gear because it is so riddled with pop ups and adverts I find the site unusable and so irritating I generally don't bother with it anymore.I know adverts are needed to get free content but it doesn't have to be so intrusive, look at the adverts on this site (generally) or on Yahoo or Google.Elephant because it took me about an hour to get one quote out of the the site without it crashing and flashing up java errors and page unable to be displayed errors.Any one else have sites they would like to visit but which are just sooooo frustrating you don't bother? I mean proper commercial sites that have had big money spent on them and are still crap to use.

today i got an icky virus..so i did my virus scan. all good..then restarted...it go to the blue screen where is says "windows is starting up" and nothing happens...it just sits there...i tried starting in safe mode..does the same thing....

so i whacked in an xp disc to do a repair..i click repair...and left it to do its thing....i come back...and its asking me to enter my cd key...now oll admit, i dont have one, i used a hacked copy of xp..but i have tried 10000 cd keys..none work.. i even went and borrowed the neighbours legit copy and the key from that doesnt work either..so ok thats fine..but now, everytime i restart..it just launches straight into the setup again!! please help! i dont want to loose my stuff and i need to get back on!!

Answer:ugh i have the worst luck

This is what happens when you use pirated software.

I suggest your take the hdd out of your computer, and hook it up as a slave drive on another system.

Back up all your important data, then format the drive.

Put it back into your machine as master, and buy a legit copy of Windows, and reinstall.

I saw this at the hotel that I work at(I tend bar there on weekends, I'm not there in any sort of IT capacity) It made me laugh...and cry....at the same time. The pictures I took don't even do the terrible cabling job justice. By the way, excuse the crappy picture quality, the pictures were taken using my camera phone. Enjoy:

Hello all. New here. Big problem. my laptop has been taken over by malware. mostly the kind that pose as virus protection. PC antispyware 2010, Computer defender, Braviax, and some other ones that I cannot remember the name of right now. this all started a few days ago when a rootkit tool tried changing a registry that i subsequently denied, but they took over anyway.

I thought I had gotten rid of them, as they were no longer bothering me earlier today, then suddenly the screen was completely overwhelmed by a message saying that my computer was infected. I cannot access the internet, taskmanager, registry editor, or basically anything else for that matter. It will not allow any antimalware programs to run, or antivirus. The computer is almost completely locked up. I have read some threads about what to do, but im not that literate when it comes to some of the things that were discussed.

Where can I start when I cannot do anything?

Answer:Infected in the worst way

Hello and welcome, This is very infected and we can try to run VIPRE to get a foothold. If this is successful run MBAM next.Since you cannot access the net ,you will need access to a clean PC and a USB Drive,CD or someother portable device.Run .. VIPRE Rescue ProgramNext run MBAM (MalwareBytes):NOTE: Before saving MBAM please rename it to zztoy.exe....now save it to your desktop. Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.alternate download link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the definition updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. On the Scanner tab:Make ... Hi,
For about 4 weeks now I have been battling with my computer because of malware. I have tried lots of programs including CounterSpy, Kaspersky, Ad-Aware, SpyZooka and SmitfraudFix.
It all started when i got a STOP message (0x7e) which said it was caused by malware but since then I have also got two other STOP messaged 0x8e and 0x7f.
I have the exact symptoms of the Downadup worm, but when I ran the FixDownadup.exe from Symantec it said it could not be found.
MBAM setup/installation is not working so I am going to rename it and see what will happen.

Question: Worst Virus Ever?

My daughter brought me her computer that has the worst virus I have ever seen. (She is running a farly new Compaq machine with Windows XP Media Center). This appears to be a new version of Privacy Center. On boot, computer goes through Windows startup and asks for login/password. From there, starts to load, then screen goes black and a screen VERY similar to Privacy Center comes up asking for money. (The only difference is that in the upper left of the 'page' it reads Control Center - but their 'About' link refers to it as Privacy Center) The computer will not go past this page. <ctrl><alt><esc>, <alt><F4>, <ctrl><Alt><delete> all have been rendered inoperational. I have read other articles here and in other places with instructions as to how to remove it - all suggest Safe Mode. Well, here's where this virus gets nasty! When going into Safe Mode, the system reboots after mup is loaded therefore Safe Mode is Not an option. Tried a bootable F-Secure CD - it found a number of harmful files and renamed them but the machine still does the same nonsense .

Any suggestions aside from System Restore? (and I'm not sure that will fix the problem either!)

Trying to fix my parents computer, running on windows XP. They obviously had some viruses and I ran some scans and got rif of some with different programs I'd already installed and tried to clean it out a little a couple days ago- it only got worse- it's now pratically unusable. Heres a list of the issues.

Desktop is blank with no icons, start menu comes up empty. I had to click an ad just to get into internet explorer here.
Getting a tons of errors at the same time reading "Failed to save all the components to //system 32..., the file is corrupted or unreadable." and another error that says the "Files indexation process has failed" and one that says "RAM memory is incredably unstable"
I can not exit out of a fake virus protection program called "system fix", and task manager will not open.
Occasionally a video or audio ad will pop up, ussually a virus protection ad.
I seem to be unable to right-click...
I can not seem to download any form of software
Most of the time when I search or click a link to something that will help, it sends me to an AOL website, or more spam.

Anything I can do to save this old piece of junk for them at this point?

Answer:Worst virus I've ever seen

Bump and update.

I've found logging in as a different user allows me one or two more abilities- it still shows a couple programs, and I can manage my way on to the internet, but every time I try to download some kind of anti-virus program, it ends in an error, and most times I try to go to an anti-virus site, it redirects me to spam. It still makes it look as if all the files are gone, even though they seem as if there still there- for example, I get get into itunes randomly and have all the songs, but when going into desktop, it doesn't show anything in any of main files at all.

Ok, most of you know i have a new pc. Yes thats great. Well its supposed to. Here the whole story:

October 22 2004, at 10 pm, i purchase the following from moonarch computer:
AMD 3500 939 130 nm
abit av8 3rd eye
74 gb raptor
160 gb sata seagate
round cables
eVGA 6800GT
thermaltake 480 watt butterfly

Ok, first then send me an email, saying that my shipping address isnt same as billing, and i must add it to credit card. I do so, and reply to their email, they said ok, good. It then takes then 1 week and a half to ship the pc, BUT BOTH HDs are back ordered. Now please tell me what i am supposed to do without my hard drives?

Ok, well the pc finally gets in houston, and the same day, my hds are shipped. i get all the stuff, and build my pc with no problems.

Now, i wont get into details how i found out, but one of my rams was faulty, so i RMA. ok, we send the ram back. Takes then an other week to ship my new ram. I FINALLY get my ram today. And guess what? The heat spreader is bent in half (xms 3200XLPT) i mean its completely bent, i dont even see how it happened, or how they fit it in the plastic box...

So i am gona REFUND this POS from POS monarch, and get some 3200 xlpro from newegg

That was my worst experience there... I am just pissed off

Answer:Worst Pc Experience Ever!!!

My question now. since im getting refund, wat ram to get now? HAS to be under 300

i was thinking the 3200xlPro for 275 (2x512) 2-2-2-5 latenties

Or any other suggestions?

I look at reviews on newegg at mobos, ram and vid cards and some gives it a 5, the other kid gives it a 1. Some say it boils, some say it stays at good temps. Some say it crashes, some say it is stable. Some say it doesn't support dual mem, some said they run great w/ dual. Some say it SUCKS, some say it ROCKS. Why does it work for some, and not for others???? Do a certain percentage of mobos, cards, mem... are defective or something? what is the deal. I get furstrated because I don't know what parts to get!!!

Answer:How could a mobo be the best for some, and worst for others?

Being compatible,thats all it takes.

Hello,

Please forgive the length of this explanation. I have tried to prepare my post as described in your instructions, but the DSS program will not run as described, and I can't extract the ZIP file for the "gmer" program. At the moment, I can only run my computer in Safe Mode, and only if I "press ESC to prevent SPTD.sys" (as per the prompt during startup). Additionally, I am unable to uninstall "Daemon Tools" as you request, and running the program to uninstall the SPTD driver is useless because (I suspect) I am running in Safe Mode without SPTD.sys in the first place. In lieu of the text files you ask for, therfore, I will provide what details I can and ask for your suggestions.

My computer has obviously gone bonkers. A few weeks ago, I was hit with the "Malware Defender" virus, which did some pretty serious damage. After some research, I acquired Malwarebytes Malware-Removal program and ran it several times, (in safe mode and in normal Windows), until all symptoms were gone. The computer has worked fine for several weeks.

Last night, (about 2-3 weeks later), something even worse took over. All very suddenly, it splashed up a ton of pop-ups with endless dialogue boxes, displayed warning balloons from my systems tray, and disabled my tasks manager (ctrl+alt+del). I forced a shut down of my computer, and when I restarted it began to load Windows XP and then flashed up a blue screen before restarting automatically in the F8-... Read more
