Question: HP Pavillion monitor HP w2207h blue power light on and off a...

Hello there!I've been using this monitor for 7 years and I have been encountering this problem for 2 years every time I start up my computer. Now I finally decided to seek solutions for this problem. My monitor power lights up for 3 secs and it disappear for 1-2 secs and lights up again for 3secs and this goes on for 10-15minutes before it could finally show the screen. So it is like 10-15 minutes of black screen and no sign of power. Pressing menu or other buttons doesn't work because it doesn't have any power in it. So I tried a different cord and it has the same problem. I tried a different monitor and both cords are working fine. It is only the monitor itself and I was wondering the monitor could be worn out or there's something wrong with the monitor. Thanks for reading and I hope to receive your help as soon as possible!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A service life of seven years makes it a venerable product. After even five years, whioch is also a respectable service lilfe, when it begins to fail, it should probably be put out to pasture.

When I press the power button, nothing happens. No lights are switched on, neither do they blink, even the power button does not lit. The screen is blank and there is no sound of fan. The light next to the AC adapter connection is red as it should be since it is charging.Generally the power button light is lit immediatelly along with the wifi(f12) button light (red if wifi is off and white if on). I have already tried hard reset option as suggested on this page: http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-15-Notebook-PC-series/6529948/model/6867322/document...However it did not work. I don't know what to do next as there is nothing on that page which says what to do when even power button light is not lit. There was a problem in my laptop before which may be relevant here. Upon switching off, windows would shut down but the fan kept running and the power button wifi button light remained lit. I think the OS would shut down but the laptop hardware somehow remained on. I may have left my laptop in sleep state, when it compulsorily goes into sleep due to less than 10% power on battery. Unfortunately i don't remember.

dell xps m2010 wont start up ,blue power light and bluetooth light stay on,i have been searching posts in other forums as well as this one and i thought i`d narrowed it down to the graphics card,i was right to an effect,my approach was to take the xps apart following dells website documents, while i had the top (dvd drive) off ,i noticed that the graphics card screws were really loose (this was my first job)...i tightened these. The top(dvd drive ) i re-connected ,but propped it up at an angle so i could still see motherboard and parts,(warning!be carefull!!)electric!! ...attached power cable and pressed power button after half a dozen times pressing this it came to life.I noticed my fans were working and thought this might not be my motherboard after all ,no overheating happening...then it froze on windows xp ??it was a start !another 6 to ten times pressing power button it worked again this time not freezing.went into bluetooth with usb mouse and paired keyboard ,made system restore point and restarted .It took maybe 4 times with it being glitchy(freezing ..not powering up) ,but when it does load xp without freezing try restarting windows xp and then it eventually finds its feet!!!my xps 2010 is running ok now.jimb

Hi i have a issue with my  HP Pavilion g6-2231ec. I used it without battery because battery is dead, just power connector.  Notebook works normaly but on a next day it won't turn on. It only blink one time near power plugin. When pressing the power button the button light doesn't even light.I tried to test it with friend power adapter but won't turn on. But we tried to get battery to it (without adapter), and everything works. I decided to change power DC Jack Power Cable and it doesn't help. It is the same. I don't understand what's wrong. hows it going everyone!? just want to start out by saying I'm a newbie when it comes to computers so i really hoping I'm at the right spot. my laptop died on me recently so i hopped back on my desktop and it was acting really weird it would get some blue pixel lines going any where from half an inch to a few inches long through the screen and it would get to the point where i would freeze and restart/blue screen or anything that was open would flash a bunch of random colors or wouldn't let me access anything on it or it would say something like this program has been disable... then freeze. i use every program out there from spy bot, spy doc, melware bytes to combo fix and i ran them all in till they all said my pc was clean but the problem keep happening i was only able to use my comp in safe made. when i was in safe mode i didn't see a single dark/light blue pixel lines which was really nice then my buddy gave me an extra copy of windows 7 so i reformatted and sadly the lines are still there but its not freezing or glitching out like it did and windows is up to date and I'm stumped i don't know if its a video card problem or a super virus... HELP ME PLEASE!! i might have screwed up on the reformatting because i seen a few programs on my comp still from before like mirc and perfect world on it so i just might reformat it again if we cant figure out the problem.
Thanks

Question: HP w2207h monitor

SOLVED!!  Figured this out on my own!  Thanks anyway for those who maybe read it... Help!!  I have had my HP w2207h monitor work flawlessly for over a year.  But over the past 48 hours, the following occurs when I try to turn this monitor on:1)   The Monitor Status box appears reading:       VGA     No Input Signal                                                                                     HDMI     No input Signal"No Input Signal" is highlighted regardless whether VGA or HDMI is selected.2)  The Monitor Status box quickly disappears followed by "Monitor Going To Sleep."  Which the monitor promptly does, i.e., it remains blank and any kind of solutions I've tried (many!) just result in the preceding cycle repeating itself. The only possible connection between the monitor and my HP a6417c CPU is VGA.  I have unplugged it, checked for bent pins, replugged, turned off & on numerous times - all with no response. I cannot exe... For 3 days l have been searching for a solution to get rid of the continously looping OSD pop ups.(1) shows OSD Lockout(2) OSD Main Menu appears(3) goes to black screen. Through various blogs l was advised to do(1) Hold Menu button till OSD Lockout shows unlocked - NEVER happens(2) Hold Power Button till Monitor turns itself off this could take a long time, I held it for 45 mins it never turned off but l did not get any pop ups for 8hrs(3) Unplug monitor from wall and hold power button for 40 seconds (this is supposed to be a factory reset) didn't work The Monitor will not tun off also even when unplugged.A few people have actually just pulled the menu button from the front of the monitor and disconnected the yellow plastic button which feeds the menu button. I really don't want to disfigure my monitor. I cant access the toggle buttons to get into the OSD Main Menu so at this point l am at a loss. My computer is working but l can't with these pop ups, I'm ready to trash it does anyone have any other solutions. Thanks

I have 3 different pop ups rotating on and off on my screen: 1) OSD Lockout, 2) Main Menu, 3) No Input Signal followed by Monitor Staus pop up. Generally the screen goes black after the Main Menu pop up for a few seconds. The monitor is properly displaying in between pop ups and behind pop ups except when the screen goes black. The frequency of these pop ups is increasing and I can't get anything done. I unplugged monitor and held the power button down for 30 seconds per some instruction I came across. But when I replugged it in the pop ups continued. I have held down the Menu button for 10 seconds to try to get rid of OSD Lockout per separate instruction with no success.

I recently acquired a second one of these monitors that was being thrown out due to the OSD Lockout message showing up every few seconds. The monitor worked perfectly otherwise. I tried holding the Menu button for 5 seconds but the message always came back. I disconnected the menu buttons and the monitor worked perfectly. No OSD Lockout message. After removing the circuit board with the buttons on it I noticed a greasy residue around switch 2 shown below.   I investigated further and found the same greasy residue on the power plug socket and surrounding housing. I removed the power board and discovered that the grease was coming from some thermal pads on the underside of the power supply  housing shown below. These thermal pads sit almost directly above the menu buttons.  I wiped the greasy residue off the thermal pads and used rubbing alcohol to clean up the rest of the housing. I then soaked the menu board in rubbing alcohol for about an hour allowing the alcohol to soak into the button casings, scrubbed it with a toothbrush and set it to completely dry.  After reassembling the OSD Lockout was still triggered. Holding down the Menu button for 5 seconds fixed that for good. No more OSD Lockout message and all menu buttons work as they should.  This worked for me. Even if you don't see the same residue on the buttons I hightly recommend soaking the buttons anyway as this seems to be the trouble area. I hope... Read more

My HP monitor has not been starting up properly for several months now. When it first occurred, the monitor refused to start when its power button was depressed. I noticed a ?clicking or popping? sound and could see that the blue power light was cycling off and on at short intervals. After awhile the monitor did come on; however, as time (weeks) went by the monitor continued to click and not open the start screen. When this happened I pressed the sleep keyboard button on and off again and for some reason, the monitor eventually would come on. The monitor is not connected to a TV, it is only connected to the computer by VGA cable. I figured the problem could possibly be something to do with either the sleep mode or screen saver settings, so I checked the power options and found that both the ?Turn off the display?, and ?Put the computer to sleep? settings had never selected as their option. I ran the HP Hardware Diagnostic Tools for the monitor, but the tests were only good for alignment, color, brightness, etc.  I also checked to see if it needed a driver updated through the following process: Computers>Properties>Tasks>Device Manager, then clicking Other Devices and double-clicking Monitor; under the General tab it displayed the message, ?this device is working properly?.  After a few more weeks time passed by, the sleep button trick stopped working, and I tried leaving the monitor on at night with the computer turned off. I wanted to connect my iPhone 6 to my HP w2207h monitor. I am using a VGA-to-lightning port adapter to connect them. When they are connected, the HP monitor displays the 'Monitor Status', which has 'HDMI input' or 'VGA input' selected, but says 'no input signal.' After displaying that, it goes to sleep. It will wake up temporarily if I turn it on and off again. Pressing the monitor's buttons does nothing. If I disconnect the adapter, the monitor displays 'Check Video Cable.' As soon as I connect the adapter, it goes back to sleep. Occasionally it makes a buzzing noise for a few seconds. Any solutions to this issue? Is it just an incompatability problem (and why would that be)?  Thanks.

HP w 2207h monitor problems

System: Windows XP Pro, Radeon 9800XT

I had a problem with my new HP w2207h monitor and I'm posting this in case anyone else experiences this issue.

When my computer booted up the screen was covered with "interference" lines. It was possible to see the login field and once logged on to Windows this cleared but graphics showed dithering. After a few hours use the whole screen would slowly degrade. Occassionally refreshing the desktop could help this but eventually the computer needed a reboot.

I tried everything I knew from updating all drivers, looking for conflicts and eventually reinstalling Windows XP. Nothing solved the problem. I decided it must be an issue with my Radeon graphics card. Ran every test under the sun. The problem persisted. Considered buying a new graphics card, and even a new computer! Then I had an idea. I unistalled HP's "My Display" software and unistalled the HP driver and let Windows find the best 'Plug and Play' driver.

Result - problem vanished.

Further playing around and I became convinced that the included Pivot Display software was the villain. I lost the auto rotate facility by unistalling the HP screen software but all the distortion issues went away.

Hope this posting helps some other poor soul.

Hi recently purchased a new 13" Macbook Pro with Retina dispaly and trying to connect it to my w2207h monitor with an HDMI cable. Macbook software is current (Seirra 10.12.2).  I contacted Apple who did some troubleshooting and concluded it seems to be an issue with the monitor. When I connected the monitor to my Macbook Pro the Macbook auto configured the w2207h to best resolution for an HP  w2207h (1680x1050) however the image  flickers between black (approx 1 sec) and a dim view of the desktop (approx. 0.1 of a sec). I manually changed the scaling to 1080P and the monitor displayed the desktop OK however the resolution was not correct (eg. image spills outside the monitors viewing footprint so that the top menu bar is not showing and the bottom doc shows only the top half of each icon). What I have read is HP monitors do not support Mac however until I got my new Macbook it worked fine (with my old Macbook). Hopeing that there is a fix that someone has already figured out. Hate to replace a perfectly good monitor. Any help is appracited.

Hi all! My monitor is making faint popping sounds and the blue power light goes off and on to on all the time. It has been 11 consecutive hours so far. My old pc (win 8.1 64 bit) went out after a power outage and this began shortly after. I tried the monitor with two laptops and it worked with one of the two, both windows 8.1. Right now the pc is off. I hate turning it on and off ... isnt that hard on it? Ive not set it up originally yet. Ive just received my new tower and it doesnt work. Ive tried different power outlets and cables, as well as inspected the plug ends of the cables, etc. Everything appears fine.I got this monitor the day it hit the shelves in the stores and have never had an issue with it...or any other HP product over the years. I have had it for a while. I replaced two other brands (both other brand) towers since my last HP (which was the pc purchased with this monitor originally). Both non hp computers only lasted a few of years. My HP towers have always lasted between 8-10 years. My reasons for trying other brands was simply $. I received this new pc as a gift yesterday. It is running windows 10, 64 bit. It seems to boot up fine...not sure with no screen and nothing to check it on. I have tried everything I could without changing settings in pc (due to lack of visual). I am desperate here. Cannot afford a monitor and adult kids took laptops back to school.Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks all!Reply

I first logged out of my computer and came back and I noticed an orange light on the power button. I shut it of and turn it back on about two times with the same results of an orange light. I then shut of the the extension that houses 10 plugs. When I turned on the extension I turned on the computer the power button didn't give off a blue light or orange light. The VGA cable, mouse, keyboard, Ethernet cable are all plugged in. I later removed all the connects to the computer gave it a minute and plugged it all back in. There is a solid green light on the back under the power cable. The fans turn on there is noise coming from inside the computer a soft humming and light fan from the back of the computer. But the power button will not turn on. The monitor light is orange and says "No Input signal Input 2,Go to Power Save." When I switch to input 1 it reads "Cable Disconnected Go to Power Save." What internal issue could this be?

This started about 10 days ago. When I shut down, a few seconds after the monitor goes dark, there's a small light in the center of the monitor. It only lasts a second or two. At first, it always was blue--like a flashlight beam off to one side. Then it was red, in the same shape. Today, it's red, shaped like an arc with a green tail.

I'm not having any problems with the computer. But there's one other change. Beginning yesterday, when I turn the computer on the desktop icons don't all pop up fully formed. Some begin as outlines, and then fill in.

Any explanations of these changes will be appreciated. Thank you.

Answer:Light (blue, red, green!) on monitor after shut down

Look at your controls for your monitor. Look for one that says "degaus" or something like that. Press this with the computer on.

Assuming that the monitor in question is a LCD ?
You could hold a torch up close to the screen and if you can see the normal screen (the one that's there normally there when your computer boots) then the problem is the back-light for the screen -may be repairable.

However you might also find on the monitor manufacturers site a list of "Blink-codes" which will be interpretative in much the same way as Morse Code. And this may have implications to what is actually wrong internally with the unit.

Hi.

I have a LG TFT monitor from 2009. A fews days it was troublesome in getting a display. I pulled out and reconnected the VGA connector and rebooted. Eventually I got the display back. However now the power light flashes and there's no display.

Last night I left it running and it said something like 'no signal...' with circled circles. I rebooted a spare PC and it was working again. This morn it's back to a flashing power light and no display. Is the monitor finished?

Update: I left it running and connected to my spare PC for over 15 minutes and the display just returned. :confused

Answer:LG monitor power light flashes and no display.

If you can borrow another monitor and VGA cable, I'd hook it to the PC and see what happens.

If the other monitor shows the same problems, it's likely a problem with you PC's video card.

If the other monitor works, try the old one with the different VGA cable.

If neither of these solve them problem, the issue is with the old monitor itself.

I have an Alienware 17 R3 and recently updated the BIOS and the other day I noticed the ?annoying? blue ring on the charger switched off, to get it to come back on I need to disconnect from the laptop and switch off and on again. But several times since it will stay illuminated until I plug it in, the laptop hasn?t moved from my desk and the power pack has been under the desk so the only thing I think that could of damaged it would be this update.
It had a replacement motherboard a few months after purchase but now a few months out of warranty, is it only the power supply or worse?

Answer:Power supply blue light switches off when I plug it into the laptop.

If the LED on the DC plug doesn't stay on reliably, replace the adapter with a new OEM unit first.  If that doesn't solve the problem,  the next suspect is the system's DC jack -- replace this part
www.parts-people.com/index.php
If that doesn't solve the problem, the mainboard is bad -- Dell's warranty on replacement parts is 90 days.  If it's been less time than that, have the board replaced again.  If you had it replaced elsewhere, contact the repair shop to find out what warranty they offer on the repair they did.

We have gone through the issue reported on our dell tower and understand that the system is not posting and gives two beeps.
As mentioned above you have checked with known good memory, but issue is same and beeps pattern remains the same, also when removed the beep pattern remains same.
Please help me understanding if the system power button color and if it is flickering or solid.
If you have encountered any other issue while using the system do let us know so that we can isolate the issue better.
For me to better assist in troubleshooting, please click my DELL-username and send me a Private Message with the Dell Service Tag number and your email address.

A friend says this SYS Technology, Inc. monitor was working last time he used it, gave it to me. Does not have DVI, just VGA cable. Model SYS-15L-C-JT, label says it was made April 2002. I cannot find any SYS tech support. I'm looking to see if this thing is dead or if what's wrong is something simple or what. Is there a diagnostic program I can download?

I have tried a few things, like changing the sequence of connections, but it seems not to respond to power button or other controls on front. Each time I plug it in to power source (whether or not it's connected to PC) power light flashes green and it clicks every second or so. There is no picture nor status message onscreen.

Hi My F1904 monitor seems to have a fault. When I power it on the power switch flashes amber and I get no display. Any suggestions? There does not seem to be any mention of this in the documentation. Many Thanks

Answer:F1904 Monitor flashing amber power light

amber usually means sleep mode. flashing can mean different things. Disconnect the video cable, turn it off, pull the power plug, wait 10 seconds, plug it in and turn it on. Press the OSD buttons to see if you can bring up the on screen display. If that comes, up try connecting it again. Hopefully the PC is not sending out a bad video signal.

Hi,  Yesterday I came home and was about to use my T410 like I sometimes do. I turned it on, the computer loaded the ThinkPad screen and then quickly showed me a "Fan Error" in the top left corner. I took the computer apart and saw that the fan wasn't moving like it should. I tried to clean it without taking it apart any further but that didn't work so I took the fan out and cleaned it. It is now spinning smoothly again. However, after putting it back together, when I turn it on the power you can hear the laptop turn on but the screen stays black and there are no lights flashing on the monitor. My question is, why is my monitor not turning on?  Side note: While taking out the fan I swiped my finger on the thermal paste, I'm going to re-apply some thermal paste between the heat sink and the cpu later today (any suggestions on how I should clean the old thermal paste?)

Answer:T410 - Black screen, power on, no light on monitor

Hallo and welcome to the forum You should remove any old thermal grease and apply new thermal grease before you turn the computer on. The Hardware Maintenance Manual (HMM) has instructions on how much thermal grease you should apply. To clean the cpu in my notebook before applying new thermal grease i have been using isopropyl alcohol in the past.

I was on my computer one morning and we happened to have a power flash, quickly on and off. Afterwards i turn on my computer, everything comes normally, gives me the safe boot option, i start up windows 7 log in and it freezes, on a side note that is very unusal. I've had my setup for a month now and not 1 freeze. Afterwards anytime i attempt to turn on my computer the monitor stays amber and nothing shows, no bios nothing. I've tried tried multiple things such as replacing the power supply, running bare minimum (1 stick of ram, cpu, cpu fan and power supply without graphics card installed), Ironically im in a nerdrage rush to get it fixed by 11p.m. central time tonight, a new game i've been preparing for with new comp upgrades and such for months comes out on midnight and i very much so intend to be there for it.

my computer specs:
890GPA-UD3H Motherboard
3.3 dual core am3 socket processor
9800gt xlr8 nvidia graphics card
2 sticks of 2 gig 1333mhz ddr3 ram
600w Power supply
500 gig sata harddrive

im running windows 7 professional 64x

i was running a 480w power supply when the power flashed, i bought a 600w today.

I recently returned home to find my monitor completely blank. At first I thought it was just in standby but when I tried to activate it, nothing happened. I checked all cables, unhooked the monitor, restarted the computer. . . still nothing. It is not the computer because I have hooked in an older monitor that works. . . sadly this monitor is about 10 years old and still running fine. The flat panel vs17e is only about 3 years old. Anybody else have issues like this? Is this typical of the hp 17 flat screens? If so, it is sad to see quality reduced as technology increases. Any help would be appreciated.thanks

Answer:flat panel hp vs17e, monitor is blank but power light is on

Have you tried another cable? The vga cables do fail. Here is a link to the manual for your monitor model.Try pressing the second button from the bottom on the side of your monitor. That is the auto-adjust feature.Message Edited by erico on 01-30-2009 01:09 PM

This happens off & on: My Gateway 5458E desktop will turn on, but the power light doesn't come on (should be blue) & there is no signal to the monitor. The computer powers up, can hear sounds (fan, etc), keyboard lights up, can see light from dvd player, but nothing on monitor & no power light. Have tried a different monitor with same results. The computer has also turned itself off while working ok a couple of times & wouldn't restart correctly until next day, but most of the time this happens when I try to do a restart or just turn on computer after being turned off. What could be causing it to start sometimes & not others? Thanks!

Answer:Gateway desktop turns on but power light not on & no signal to monitor.

A failing Power Supply sounds like the root cause of this issue.Any local computer store will be able to help you with one. The power supply is one of the most important parts of a computer. If they offer something really cheap, eg $30 it is not very good quality, the higher quality the better.Assuming you are using the machine as standard, a 350W PSU will cover you, however if you plan on getting a graphics card to play games or video edit ect a 500W minimum should be followed.

Answer:Satellite M105-S3074 - Blue light flickers when power cord connected

Hi

That means your notebook doesn?t boot with AC/DC adaptor and without AC/DC adaptor too?
That?s really strange?

Have you tried to remove the battery and AC/DC adaptor? If you remove both you should one hour and then connect both again. Maybe it will work.

If not it seems to be a hardware problem. You should contact an authorized service provider? You can give them a call to speak with a technician.

So I install a new MB. Still no video or monitor signal....I have checked the diagnostic lights on the back and none of them are lite. I have tested the power supply - seems fine. I have unplugged everything other than the CPU, main and second power to MB. I am getting no error beeps. I am so lost here!! I need some help please!! Thanx

Answer:Dell 4600 solid power amber light - no signal to monitor..help!

I would have tried another monitor before buying another board.Try hooking up a different monitor to the computer.  If that doesn't work try another monitor cable. If you have no other monitor, try hooking up your current monitor to another computer.  If it works then it means there's something going on with your computer.  If not, then the problem is most likely that  your monitor is bad.

By reducing the blue light emitted by your screen, the Night light feature helps you sleep better. With Night light, when you?re working late, your brain is better ready to power down for a good night?s sleep. Smartphone users love this feature and now, it?s coming to Windows 10 with the Creators Update.

Here?s how to get started with Night light:

Go to Settings (or Windows key + I), click on System, and, under Display, click to turn Night light on or off. You can also customize the color temperature or schedule by clicking ?Night light settings.?

Have a great week!

Alright, so I just got Windows 10 today, and the automatic blue light is really bothering me. I looked everywhere for a way to turn it off, but where ever I looked I found nothing. It seems that no setting to change the blue light filter exists on my computer. Windows installer says I'm up to date, so I assume this is the newest version. If I had to guess anything some app I deleted may have caused this, but I don't think a system setting would be related to an app. Has anyone had this problem before?

This is a new problem, but I am woried: Sometimes when I'm watching a movie or opening the laptop the screen starts to shake. That means that the brightness of the screen changes very rapidly from "black" to bright lighted. After shaking abou 5 seconds it settles, but it repeats itself occasionally.Nothing seem to help (all cords are fine and connected) , and I don't know anything, really, about computers.Could it be just dust inside the laptop? Or is something breaking down? This laptop is about five years old but it has been working fine - until now. Please help me, just knowing where the nearest HP-workshop is would be fine. My laptop was working fine yesterday, charging and powering on an off normally. It updated without my telling it to. When it was complete (since it said don't turn computer off until finished) I either just shut the lid or I shut it down when it was done. This morning when I wake up and try to turn it on it won't power up. Then I noticed that the power button was blinking, like it is in sleep mode, tried pressing 10 times then holding down power button for 30-60 seconds and still nothing. Next I saw that although the power is plugged in the battery light won't come on. I don't know if it is charging (it could be dead). I tried a bunch of different outlets and that isn't the issue. I also listened to the computer and there is a very soft high pichted noise that dissapears if you unplug it, and that when you hit the power button and it starts blinking, the sounds changes fom high to lower pitch and back again over and over. But no other sounds or fans kicking on or drive spinning. I am pretty sure it isn't the power cord but have no way of checking. And I can't remove the battery without voiding the warrenty. Anyone have any advice, besides calling to have Lenovo send me a box to send it back to Lenovo since it is only 4 months old and still under warrenty?

Answer:Lenovo Edge 15 laptop 80K9 battery light won't come on, power light blinks

Suggest you eliminate problem 1. Do you have spare power supply unit? Worth trying that first. Your battery may be in sleep mode and won't wake up as battery is drained and hence needs charging. 2. You can go to local retailer and suspect a good one (John Lewis) will let you charge it for 30 mins. Ideally go back to person you bought it from. 3. Once you are in use restore to go back to last working point. I have to telll you the support from Lenovo and Microsoft was very very very disappointing. I tried to even return the PC and swop for HP as mine is only 2 months old. However, the answer was send back to Lenovo. Hope you find a way to get it charged

Hi. Tonight I had a problem with my laptop. It was in sleeping mode, and when I open the lid there were no mouse function and no touch screen function. So the only thing I could do was to press the power button for 3 seconds to turn it off, but it didn't completely, because the screen turn off, but the power button light is blinking just like when it is on sleep mode, and I'm not sure if the hard drive light was on, off or blinking before this, but now is blinking. I press the power button and nothing happen, I press it for 3 seconds and nothing happen. I even did the HDMI connection to another monitor, but both monitors don't show anything, not even recognize that something is connected to the HDMI port in the new monitor. There is no sound, nothing, just the 2 blinking lights. What should I do? Thanks PS: I'm not sure if it's Windows 10 32-bit or 64-bit. It was upgraded from Windows 8

I will turn it on and after a minute or two the monitor goes to power save mode and the hard disk light goes from off/blinking to solid on and the power light stays on.

I have reinstalled the operating system and i thought that fixed it. I had SP 1 i installed all of my updates and SP2 and it starting to do it again (it will do it in SP1 but not nearly as often or when i run a flash heavy program: PSP Video or even the Scion website).

It will not do it at all in BIOS as i did every test on the diagnostics page for my hard drive (all pass) though if it turns off it usually turns on and runs dskchk and it wont stay on for that

In safe mode it is also fine it will not turn off once

I dont know what i did last as it was fine then i was gone for a month and I had it unplugged etc., came back hooked it up and it started doing it after a little while

I have taken a can of air to every inch, switched the Flat cord going to the HDD from the Motherboard.

All fans run fine

Thats all i can think of right now ask me anything else you need to know

I'll give this forum a couple of days/a week maybe then i'll take it to a local shop to diagnose it

Much thanks to anyone who has any idea's

Hello,
Was experiencing general issues with my windows profile after windows updates last patch Tuesday so I initiated a system restore and let it run today.  After completion laptop turned off (instead of rebooting?)

Pressing the power button: Power button turns white (on) for ~30 seconds, then laptop turns off (indicated by power button light)
no fans
no screen (back-light or otherwise)
no POST codes - beep codes or light codes.
no other visible activity

During that period nothing else happens, unless I press the power button again. If I do this
The fans spin up momentarily
The system then powers off (as indicated by the white power light)

I've tried:

Disconnect power/battery and hold power button (60 seconds)
Power system on with just battery
Power system on with just wall power
Remove mSATA HD and repeat the above
Disconnect video connector and repeat above
Remove mPCI WiFi module and repeat above
Completely disassemble and remove CMOS battery (tested at 3.1 VDC) for 60 seconds, reassemble and repeat above

All with no change in behavior

I am able to get a light code 2 Amber / 3 White if I remove the RAM module (as expected)
D + PWR diagnostics cycle successfully through a range of colors then nothing

Laptop is 2 months out of warranty.  Any help debugging the issue is appreciated!

Hi, this laptop is 2 years old and about a week ago it just failed to switch on. No warning, just one day nothing. When it's connected to the power supply and turned on there's nothing, no faint hum, no fan activation and no charging lights. I've tried changing the AC adapter but the new one has given me the same issue.  I'd like to know if this model is capable of operating without the battery and just connected to the AC supply as if not then I may need to consider replacing the battery but if it can operate then I won't waste the time or money. Sadly this PC is just just a few months out of warranty so I am finding it difficult to get in contact with HP regarding a proper repair. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might have gone wrong with this computer? Thanks,  AN

Hi Wacky78900,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that your Y500 Laptop is not turning ON after playing game and turning OFF manually, I suggest you to perform the Flee-Power and check the issue. Below are the steps to check and resolve the issue:

Remove the battery and any other peripheral device connected to the computer.
Hold the power button for 10-15 seconds and then connect only the AC Adapter and try to turn ON the computer.

If the issue persists even after performing the Flee-Power and as the computer is in warranty, I would Strongly Suggest Calling Technical Support for Assistance. Click here to open a link where you can select the country and get the exact contact support number. I?m sure they will be a great help.

Do post us back for further queries.

This just started happening recently. The power indicator light (near the power plug) does not turn on and Windows does not recognize when the adapter is plugged in; the power icon and cusomized power saving "on battery" behavior reflect that. HOWEVER, the battery does charge. The "lightning bolt" charging light on the front between HDD and system power lights comes on and the battery recharges if not at 100%. Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this? Is it more likely a Windows or hardware problem? The BIOS does not have the power adapter test mentioned here, and I could not find the software download for the Smart Adapter functionality (this laptop was installed with clean, non-OEM OS, so any OEM software had to be added manually). Thanks in advance,Kyle

Hello! I have been having this problem for about a week now, ever since I set my old computer back up in my room. The problem started when I left my computer alone for a while when I went out (the computer was working fine and I had just finished transfering pictures to my computer from my camera). I came back and the power light on the front if the case was on, but the battery light was off. The monitor had also gone into sleep mode. I turned off the computer since I knew whatever I was going had already been saved and exited out of, unplugged everything (including the monitor and PC/Monitor cable) and plugged it back in and turned them on. The monitor goes straight to power saving mode (sleep mode). The PC is definitely receiving power, the keyboard's caps and num lock keys flash, the wireless mouse's light flashes, the pc fans turn on, and both of the power and battery lights turn on. But, after a second, the battery light turns off, and the only light I can see through it is the power indicator's light bleeding through. The strange thing is, I've been able to get it to work before, about 2 times actually. Both of those successful boots happened either when I ignored the thing for so long or left it unplugged over night, but had already forgot it didn't work last time. But it did those times. So I tried to leave it unplugged all last night. Just woke up, and... still nothing. I really need to to get those pictures to my mom, so if someone could ple... Read more

alright, I just got this inspiron 6000 from my sister that didnt work. she said nothing would happen at all. well it turned out the power light would go on, caps lock light blink for a few seconds and it would turn off. somehow the memory wasnt in the slot very well. bam, got it working, dumped all her pics and crap to a external hdd, and wanted to wipe it all out and start over. she is sending me a xp disc, but for now I just figured Id go back to 2k cuz I have that disc and when I get the disc go back to xp.

anyways, I couldnt figure out how to format the drive, because obviously xp was running off of it. anyways, I kept trying all the del - f2 - f8 - f12 to get a dos prompt before windos would load but I couldnt. so I figured Id just put the 2k disc in because I thought I remember that it formats it right before it installs. but it asked me where to install and the disk was partitioned and I wanted one drive letter so I cancelled the install, before it was actually installing though, said f3 to quit and I hit f3. now when I try to power it up, the power light comes on, the hdd light comes on for maybe 1-2 seconds max, then the cd drive light comes on and it spins up, then stops, and the screen just stays black, never did anything either. just black the whole time.

I cant use a floppy to try anything because no floppy drive. I tried starting up with the win2k disc in but doesnt work. I searched on my desktop running win2k and it showed a tutorial for making a usb flas... Read more

Answer:Windows XP, power light, hdd light for 1 sec, black screen

oh, also, i did try and search and most I found were a black screen after the self test or the windows logo, not right away.

also, dont think it matters, but when the lights go out, it is at the point where hitting the power button again, the computer instantly turns off.

also, just checked, and its nothing to do with the lcd. I just hooked up my monitor, and my monitor tells me when there is no signal, and it just stayed black, then when it was unplugged from the laptop that is when it said no signal.

Why would a computer take hours and days before a display? When the system is turn on very ofter the power light keeps blinking and the harddrive light is on but nothing shows on the monitor for hours or days and may not at all. Powering off and re-powering rarely helps it just have to be left alone and comes on whenever if ever.. Thanks for help

Answer:The power light keeps blinking and the harddrive light is on

Try a new signal cable from PC to monitor. If no change, try a new graphics card.If still no change, test the hard drive with "Seagate SeaTools for DOS".Click the "Download" tab here: http://www.seagate.com/support/down...The download is an ISO file, so you'll also need to install "IMGBurn" from here:http://filehippo.com/download_imgburn/Use IMGBurn to create a CD from the ISO file, then boot your faulty computer from it. The testing program will open. Select the hard drive and test it. If it fails the test you need to replace the hard drive. If hard drive passes the test it's okay, so test the RAM modules with "Memtest86" which is also an ISO file, so you need to create a CD from that too:http://www.memtest.org/

amd dual core would not start up properly after shut down. Had to put in recovery disk to start up. Now the green light which always use to flash off an on now stays on all the time. And every once in a while I still have to put the recovery disk in to get started. Help!!

Answer:blue light pwr and green light for what ?

It sounds like your green light is the Hard Drive activity LED and if it is on constantly rather than flashing at irregular intervals then I suspect you have a hard drive problem. No amount of inserting your recovery disk will fix a hardware problem. You should download a hard drive diagnostic tool and run some tests.Goin' Fishin' (Some day)

When plugging in the power adapter, the "charge" light does not come on, nor will the notebook power up. To rule out the HP power adapter I plugged in a Targus universal adapter (with correct polarity) and same result. Same results whether the battery is installed or not. The notebook had been in storage for several months, therefore, no recent changes. Any ideas?

My Dell Inspiron 1545 has been sitting for a while, and when I went to plug it it and try to use it, it would not turn on. All I got is a pulsing power light like when it's in sleep.
I recently replaced the battery as well as the charger, because the original battery was shot and the charger was in horrible shape. I also replaced the power jack a while back because the pins inside were bent and the laptop got no power.
I had successfully used the laptop for a while after replacing these parts, but now it won't turn on. Whether I'm on battery, AC power, or both, it only flashes/pulses when I press the power button. If I hold the power button, it will shut off.
What's wrong here? I have checked and re-seated both memory modules, also testing both slots and nothing changed.

Answer:Inspiron 1545 Won't Power On, Pulsing Power Light Like When In Sleep Mode

Hi CARCRAZY98,
Thank you for the update.
Well, when you power on the system, if you hear the fan spinning and the HDD turning on, connect an external monitor and check if there is any display.
Reseat the cmos battery and check when possible. Since the system draws power from the adapter, at this point, I would not suspect the adapter. Also, remove the memory modules and disconnect the HDD and check if the system comes on and beeps - indicating a missing HDD / memory.
As advised in my previous post, if nothing works and the indications do not change, I would suspect the motherboard.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

Inspiron 17R won't start.  Only the first light turns on and of when I power up without the battery and Plugged power.
The power light goes on for a second and the first light on the top right blinks for a second with the power light and that's it.  If I hold the power button for longer, it keeps repeating the same.
Please help.

Vasu

Answer:Inspiron 17R won't start. Only the first light turns on and of when I power up without the battery and Plugged power.

Unplug the system, remove or disconnect the battery, and hold the power button for 30 sec.  Remove the base cover and memory modules;  reinstall both.
Try powering up on AC only - if it will but won't with the battery, the battery is faulty.
If it still won't power up  after the foregoing, the mainboard is bad.
