Yoga 900 -- Duplicate characters when typing

Question: Yoga 900 -- Duplicate characters when typing

I have found that my Yoga 900 will regularly insert two characters when I have only hit a key once. I might type "stop" (4 keystrokes) but I find the word "stopp" has been entered. This is not a problem with one key, it happens on lots of keys, as shown in the video:The problem with duplicate characters It seems to happen most if you type the key "gently", so the characters you press with pinkies and ring fingers are more likely to exhibit the problem, but the video shows this is happens on any key -- it is not a problem with just certain keys. I am getting a new laptop because of an issue with the Yoga 900 waking from sleep when picked it up:(My problem with the Yoga waking when I pick it up) I'll see if this new issue is a problem on the replacement Yoga. Note that Lenovo has been great, and is sending me a replacement laptop based on the waking problem. I discovered the problem with keyboard bounce while waiting for my new Laptop.Does anyone else see the issue with duplicate characters?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've had the same issue. It doesn't happen often. Just rarely enough that I thought I might be imagining it!

I've got one of these Logitech mouse/keyboard wireless combis. Last night the keyboard started playing up. Hitting either the T or V keys types both characters. Its the same with C or E and N and U. Other keys cause windows to open, among other random happenings. Rather annoying as some of these characters are in my log on password. If I did not have the Wacom on screen keyboard at startup I would have been up the creek. Running Vista Home Premium. I have changed batteries, and tonight I will try it with a bog-standard keyboard. if this is ok I suppose its time to ditch the Logitech and get a new one. Just wandered if anyone had any ideas.

After a good coffee spill, mopped rinsed and wiped away from a veteran Cherry keyboard, the same double key standards applied. Fortunately this keyboard can be dismantled to the point where separate laminations could be thoroughly dried. But then a veteran like you would notice the wet splash ...... wouldn't you???

When typing characters in a windows block, the characters get out of sequence.

Example of correct sequence: THIS IS A TEST OF MY INPUT

Example of actual results: TIS IS A TEST OF MY INPUTH

All characters get typed, but some get ahead of the cursor.

Any ideas as to the cause?

Can we customize a key so that when pressed it will type several characters?
I would use that function to quickly enter my ?user name? or email address when accessing internet pages that require filling such fields plus the Password.

Thank you for any help.

Answer:Typing several characters with one keystroke

Most browsers have the ability to remember or in some cases predict the username and password of a site you are trying to log in to.

If you tell me which browser you are using will point you to the relevant tutorial on how to set it up.

Also having your password mapped to a key on your keyboard is not a good idea in terms of security.

If you are still interested in mapping multiple letters or words to a single key it may be worth looking at Keyboard Layout Manager - Keyboard Editor Window (I'm not 100% sure it will let you assign multiple characters to one key but I think it can)

Answer:Typing special characters - ®

Nomally you can use CTRL+ALT+R   is the key combination to insert the  symbol in some applications like MS Office etc.and ALT + 0174 will also insert the symbol in most places that the CTRL+ALT+R key combinantion does not work, such as in this forum.   Cheers,

Hello Everyone!
I have a problem with my brand new L20 missing out a lot of characters when I am typing. After searching around the forums, it seems that a few people are also having this problem. I was wondering if anyone has had any luck in fixing this problem yet.

As far as I know, the problem only seems to be in WinXP, (I dual-boot with Linux Slackware 10.2 and don't notice the problem there) and I *think* it might have something to do with the internet. I say this because it is only really noticable for me when I am online, writing emails etc... (Writing to this forum takes a lot of error correcting) :)

Has anyone else been able to isolate when this problem is at its worse?

Also, is it possible to group together all the people who are having this same problem into one thread? I think there are about 3 separate threads where people have mentioned this problem, it would be nice to get everyone together to see if we can fix this.

I brought this notebook for programming, and as you can imagine I dare not try try any coding while this is happening, as it would cause toooooo many problems :)
So please, any help, hints, tips, advice or solutions would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance,

Answer:keyboard repeat duplicate characters

do a system restore.

- click on the Start Button.
- on the Start Search box, please type System Restore.
The result will be shown just above it, please click on the system restore.
- on the System Restore window, you will have there 2 options. First option is the recommended restore and the Second one is the choose a different restore point.
- you can try the first option, if there is no changes then try the second option.
- after choosing the different restore point it will give you list of restore points.
Put a check mark to a box that says show restore points older than 5 days for more options. It will give you choices up to what point would you want to restore your system to.
- it will ask for a confirmation and it will reboot.

It is necessary for you to replace the keyboard. It is not sending the correct signals to the motherboard. Yes, even a notebook computer has a replacable keyboard. It's a job best assigned to a qualified computer technician, to find and order a compatible keyboard, and to disassemble the laptop far enough to be able to swap the keyboard.

Windows Vista Home version: HP SR 2163WM computer. This happens randomly whenever I'm typing. Might be in Word or during this message (just happened when I was typing "during"). Suddenly the cursor is gone, no letters are appearing, etc. This isn't the buffer just overloading, the cursor just disappears and I can't type. It's like it jumps off the page, but it's very irritating (just happened again on "like").

I hope that someone can help you and me on this!

I have used other machines for years, I am a reasonably competent typist but have suffered the same problem on my Satellite C850 and it drives me mad.

Also the ease with which using the touchpad to move the cursor about results in the machine selecting the settings sidebar for Windows 8 by mistake.

I have tried changing the keyboard sensitivity within windows but this does not seem to help - just slows the keyboard right down.

Really frustrating

Hi nfarrier, Welcome to Sevenforums.

Yes, it can be virus. Did you made any changes on the PC recently?

As mentioned by Yard Dog, run Malwarebyts to scan for malwares. Run antivrus, and do SFC/SCANNOW to check for any errors.

Hi. I use gedit as editor in my Linux systems (SUSE and Fedora); there I find that I can't type in accented characters like I used to do in Windows.

In the text editor in Windows, even using an English keyboard configuration, I could type in accented characters by entering a combination of Alt+<ASCIIcode>, for example Alt+130 would type in the accented 'e' character; this sequence doesn't work in Linux.

Any suggestions on how to solve the problem ?

Hi, hoping someone here can help me...

Toshiba Satellite A60-106 running Windows XP is missing characters when I type. If I type very very slowly then every key works fine. At normal typing speed numerous letters are dropped. This happens in every application and does not seem load-dependent. The key repeat rate is also slower than it should be (I know how to set this; the problem is not with the setting but with the fact that the setting is not being honoured or recognised properly).

Virus/spyware scan reports clean. The problem began suddenly for no apparent reason and does not seem to be associated with any hardware or software changes. Tried starting in safe mode, tried disabling all non-essential services/startup progams via msconfg but to no avail; problem still there.

Laptop has historically suffered badly from overheating, but this problem is not obviously related as it's the same whether the machine is hot or cold.

Any ideas?

Answer:new problem, keyboard is not typing accurate characters,

There are a mix of ideas here: not update the BIOS though unless you are certain that is the issue (rare) - get it wrong and you need a new motherboard.EDIT:If nothing there helps it might be a keyboard driver issue. If so, go to "Device Manager" and expand out the Keyboards entry. Right click your keyboard and then Uninstall. Do NOT check any box you see about removing the software. The above is not the usual uninstall, it just disengages the software from the hardware. When you restart the computer it will find your keyboard as new hardware then re-install the software from the supplied drivers. Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanksmessage edited by Derek

Suddenly as of this morning multiple keys on my laptop type their own key but also other characters. It mostly is just additional symbols rather than letters and tends to be the characters next door which they type.

For example:
1) typing 'p' gives 'p['
2) typing '0' gives '0-'
3) typing '-' gives '0-' also
4) typing '.' gives './'
5) typing '/' gives './' also
6) typing ';' gives ';''
7) and vice versa
Also num pad is not working!

So in short it's like a number of adjacent keys have become fused to each other.

I have tested this and it occurs in all programs and windows. On screen keyboard works fine though.

I have so far uninstalled the device driver rebooted and let it reinstall - changed nothing.

Can anybody help?

Answer:Laptop keys also typing adjacent characters

Do you have another keyboard you can plug in and try? That will tell you if it's the keyboard (problem will not show with replacement) or the keyboard-to-PC interface (problem will persist with replacement). If you don't have an extra yourself, maybe you can borrow one from a friend /family/colleague/neighbor...?

Answer:windows live mail typing characters

I'm not that familiar with Windows Mail but suspect that it is seeing your character combination as a request for a smiley. You may be able to point to the symbol, right click and see if there is a 'remove smiley' option. Failing that, try using square or curly brackets ([ or {) as a work around.

When I create a basic table in Ms Powerpoint 2003 with 2 colums/2 rows, some letters are sometimes spaced properly and sometimes not:

For ie, the word "Settlement" in the attached powerpoint document -> The 1st time Settlement is typed, there is no issue

I've used W8.1 for sometime and this morning I was surprised to find that typing any character in many programs (for example Live Mail or Chrome) produces a floating menu of alternate chinese characters and won't allow me to have Western original typed on the keyboard. I tried one Registry fix for WLM but it didn't work as a value changed to 0 reset itself everytime to 1.
Any ideas where to look to fix this? It's actually impossible to use the effected laptop as data entry of any kind is now effectively defeated.

Answer:Typing any character now produces floating menu of chinese characters

Solved......I went to Control Panel > Languages and saw Chinese had appeared after my default English. No idea why, it just had. So I highlighted and pressed the option to Remove.

Machine approaching three years old and not continually used. A couple of weeks ago, it started missing characters when typing or it will type two characters and then highlight them so when you type again the first two characters are gone. Does this on both the on screen and laptop keyboard. Tried an external keyboard and it too acted the same way.
Here's what I've done - run diagnostics (no issues), downloaded and installed most recent BIOS, chipset, video and all other drivers. Have also in Device Manager deleted keyboards and rebooted with no change. All Windows 10 updates are installed.
Most of the time I have it plugged in and charge set to only charge when battery is approaching low.
Have not removed the battery and keeping it as a last option.
Any ideas?

Removed PCMatic and installed AVG (free) which found some issues and cleaned them up but performace wasn't improved much. My keyboard then began to act quirky by characters not appearing or the cursor jumping around or nothing will happen but the "system busy wheel" pops up for a few seconds before characters appear on the screen.

I came back to you guys because TwinHeadedEagle was so effective at helping me with my desktop 18 mos ago that I was hoping for help.

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them.
Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
Press Scan button.

It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

Everything was working perfectly until yesterday when my keyboard started to type random characters. I had just put my laptop to sleep on the night of 20th July 2013 and when I switched on the laptop on the evening of 21st July 2013 the keyboard started typing random stuff. There has been no spillage on the laptop as its safely covered on my table and I am the only one living in my room. Also to make sure its not because of a software glitch, I tried the following: 1. Restarted the system multiple times2. Went to an earlier System restore point. (Tried 5 different one's)3. Refreshed the system4. Took a backup and Formatted the whole hard disk and reinstalled Windows.5. Switched off the laptop for the night and tried switching it on today morning. None of the above helped. So obviously it is not a software problem. (FYI: The Onscreen Keyboard just works fine) A few example stuff which I get when I press the keys: CAPS Lock: WX (When I press Caps lock key it types WX along with it so the pattern goes like this: WXwxWXwxWXwx and so on if you keep pressing caps lock)q: When I press q its types a tab with qwm: its types yum instead of mw: works like caps lock key. Turns on Caps and types WX too.x: same as wBackspace: Backspace deletes one character and along with that presses the enter key too The keys in the middle row i.e.. asdfghjkl are all working fine. The problem seems to be with t... Read more

Answer:Lenovo Essential G580 Keyboard Malfunctioning (Keyboard typing unnecessary characters)

hi bijoy3d,
Welcome to the Forums.
What you can try is to reseat the keyboard ribbon (see page 49-51 of the hardware maintenance manual). If that doesn't work, there's really something wrong with the physical keyboard and you need to contact lenovo support for service.
Best regards,

Hi there, I have been trying to play games using the inbuilt keyboard and touchpad on my Yoga 2 Pro. However, the touchpad doesn't work while keyboard keys are being pressed. I have not been able to fix this problem and I have found no satisfactory answer on the forums. I have tried going to Control Panel -> Mouse -> Device Settings -> Synaptics Clickpad Settings, but I can't seem to find anything regarding sensitivity (or palmcheck) there. I have also tried (Windows Button) -> Mouse and Touchpad Settings -> Touchpad delay (switched to "No Delay (Always On)") but it also did not fix my problem. The touchpad remains unresponsive when I am typing. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

On my two new Lenovo Yoga 900 machines, there is an issue with typing where letters occasionally appear doubled. It's a real pain and the only thing I don't like about the machine. It's not the way I type, my wife has the exact same model Yoga and has the same problem. It occurs about once a paragraph, so it's not constant, and I can't find any way to duplicate it. It just seems random.
This is not a new issue with Lenovo I found out, but the solution I have seen at mmultiple places online is to set the Enable Repeat Key settings. This means there is a slight pause between accepting a second letter, and even though I type very fast, it still works well EXCEPT this also means there will be a pause when I do things like using the arrow keys to scroll.  For example, if I want to highlight this sentence to delete it, I will usually hold the shift key, and the hold down the left arrow and let it scroll back to the first word. This takes a lot longer with the Enable Repeat Key setting. Also,, sometimes I scroll up using the up arrow and that also is affected when I add a pause to Enable Repeat Key. This just shouldn't be. In all my previous systems I have never had this, and it's particularly disappointing given how much I like this machine, and that fact that I have seen online that this has occurred on previous Lenovo models as well.
Maybe a .1 second pause would work, but the minimum setting I can choose in Settings is .3 which is too slow.&nb... Read more

When we try to connect a Yoga to a projector and want to select Duplicate in WIndows, it doesn't work.  The screen is blank.  However, we are able to select "Second Screen Only" and it works fine as a second screen on the projector.  Is there a simple fix for this? On the W530/520 laptops, we had the same problem whenever someone wanted to do a presentation.  The only workaround was to go into the BIOS and select "discreet" as the graphics options.  This is a terrible workaround for many reasons.- If someone was going to do a presentation in a few mins, it took a long time to restart, boot into BIOS, and restart again.- You have to disable Bitlocker, before making the change in BIOS.  If you don't then they get stuck with the laptop asking them for the Bitlocker key and the support staff has to run upstairs and get the key while the presenter is waiting.- Our users have dual monitors at thier desks.  So, when we made the change in the BIOS for the presentation on the projector, once completed, support has to make the change back in BIOS to the other graphics setting in order for thier monitors to appear correctly at the desk So, if there is a better resolution to the Yoga's being able to show up in "Duplicate" mode I would appreciate any suggestions. We are using the HDMI adapter to VGA. Thanks.

(Function 7 doesn't work), and although duplicate screen is an option, it doesnt work. Any ideas?

With the latest Synaptic drivers, when palmcheck is turned on, the mouse is disabled during typing, which I find infuriating -- because there's a lag when I'm trying to swtich between applications using the keyboard, during multitasking. I rolled back the drivers to; which does not turn off the touchpad during typing, even with palmcheck at its strongest. But this driver leads to certain problems with the touchscreen (including the inability to keep the on screen keyboard up for more than a second).  We should at least be given the option of whether we want to turn off the touchpad during typing. If we can't get a driver update that fixes this, I'll have to return this machine and get the x230 I should have gotten in the first place.

I have had an issue with my Yoga 3 Pro from the day I first bought it less than a year ago.  I get random double letters when typping.  It's reallyy irritating.  I've gone into windows settings and chaged the filter keys settings to try and captue some of the typing issues and double letters with no success.  As you can see in a prrevious (and just now) sentence, this is a random and prevalent problem.  I can not seem to address it.  Has anyone else had this problem or is there a solution?  I've updated to the most recent bios due to several battery problems I'm also having but that's for another thread.  Haven't been very happy with this product since I purchased it because of the issues that plague it.  Hoping they are just software issues and patches are in the worrks.   Just typing these two paragraphs above lent to 4 instances of double letters.  Please help. Thanks.

I have a Yoda 2 13 that has been OK except for one very annoying trait. When entering text machine intermttenly and randomly highlights text. If Im not very careful and dont notice when it highlights text and then hit another key it will replace everythig highlighted (often everythng you just typed) with that key. Cant tell you how many times I have had to retype a block of text due to this apparent random highlighting. I prefer using a track ball mouse and almost always have one hooked up (not sure if this has anything to do with it). If I remember to turn the trackpad off by pressing key on keyboard it seems to fix random highlighting. Problem is I have to turn trackpad off each and every time I turn machine on. Kind of PITA because I often forget to turn trackpad off until I have lost a bunch of text due to this random highlighting and deleting problem. I never use the trakpad. Is there any way to permenatley disable the trackpad? Is the trackpad the cause behind this apparent random highlighting of text? Am I inadvertently touchingthe trackpad with base of my thumb (palm of hand) thus causing this highlighting? Any thought or ideas on how to get around this? Could it have something to do with motion detection or some other function other than the trackpad?

Answer:getting double letters when typing on Yoga 3 Pro 1370

You've gone to keyboard properties in the control panel, adjusted the repeat delay and it affects the cursor? That is strange indeed. I do seem to get a few more double letters on shallow keyboards found on slim devices than keyboards with longer travel, but I chock that off as a cost of slim. Still, it shouldn't be too bad.

The cursor keeps randomly repositioning within the text while I am typing, making it very difficult to use the laptop for work.  This is a major problem with the device and I am not sure if a driver issue or hardware.  I saw a post about a new alps driver from 2011 but current product has a synaptics touchpad in it.  any help?

Answer:brand new yoga 13, random cursor movement while typing.

hi harveyb,
Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
The erratic movement of the mouse cursor might be due to the high sensitivity of the touchpad.
Can you try to:
1. Go to the Control Panel (large icon view) > Mouse > Device Settings > Settings
2. Under the Synaptics Settings, go to Pointing > Sensitivity > Palmcheck and set the palm sensitivity near the maximum settings and test.

Well I lost my old user id after Lenovo implemented their superfluous Lenovo ID here in the forums, so this looks like my first post.Problem is that after long stints of typing the touchpad acts as if Palmcheck is still enabled and won't move for a moment, though I've turned Palmcheck down to the minimum. It only happens after long periods of typing, and after that initial pause it doesn't happen for a good long while. Just one more annoyance in a long list of annoyances I have with this computer. Has anyone else experienced this?

While typing on my Yoga 2 Pro, the cursor (insertion point) keeps being reset to where it started and selecting a block of text making typing on the laptop totally frustrating. I have tried increasing the PalmCheck setting to the maximum and also tried decreasing sensitivity to heaviest to no avail. This is using the latest Synaptics driver dated 2013-10-26.I have also tried the driver with "SmartSense" turned up to Max but it also keeps selecting blocks of text and deleting them as I type. It makes this laptop practically unusable without disabling the trackpad which then means you need an external mouse all the time.

I have a new Thinkpad yoga (but I had a similar problem with Yoga 2 Pro I had to return) - whenever I touch the screen to start typing (in the browser, word document, almost everywhere), the touch keyboard pops up and I have to manually close it.
This is extermemly annoying and sometimes leads to typos and stuff.
I looked into other threads which indicated I can tackle this problem through Lenovo Transitions, but that option does not exist on my control panel.
This seems like something that ought to have a simple solution but I can't find it.
Any thoughts?

I bought this awesome, lovely and exquisite piece of technology innovation in August 2014.I have come to India and everyone loves it.Everything was fine until the last Saturday morning when I was typing an email. I got on a phone call for a while and it went in sleep mode. Pretty normal. I concluded the call and touched the space bar expecting the normal, quick wake up and the login screen. The login screen came up alright, but the password box was already filled. I tried to use backspace to clear the box and I missed a heartbeat! Nothing seemed to happen. So I force shut it holding the power button and after a minute bring it up again. Same scene! This has continued. I am going to be in India for a few months. Answer:Yoga 2 Pro Keyboard continuously floods characters in the keyboard buffer

I have this same problem but with my Y510p. It floods the 'Q' character.
The only solution which seems possible is a keyboard replacement (unless the connecting port is damaged, which is highly unlikely). I have ordered a keyboard and it is on the way.
As for your scenario, I would say that if you friend is going to be in US for more than 2 months then it is fine to send it with him for repairs. You could also order a keyboard online and replace it yourself (I ordered on ebay).
Check your manual on lenovo website for supported keyboard part number.
Tip -
To disable a malfunctioning keyboard like yours, you can either disconnect it physically (like you did)
You can go into Control Panel > Device Manager > Keyboards
Select the laptop keyboard and manually install a wrong keyboard driver.
This way the keyboard wont be recognized and wont work.

I have two excel spreadsheet that I need to compare using vlookup, using case number to do so. The two sheets have case number stored differently, for example, one has the, displayed as 2012DT00001 or 2001CM00012 and the other sheet displays them as 2012DT1 or 2001CM12. Obviously, they are the same record but when using vlookup to compare the record and bring over information that is on one and not the other it does not work well. I have tried using vlookup to compare and look for approximate matches (TRUE). However, when I look at a sampling of the information it misses 80% of the records. At this point, I am thinking that the vlookup function is missing those records as a result of the two case numbers being different as a result of the unneeded zeros in the one. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:How can i edit characters within a string of characters?

Here are two ways to do it:With your data in Column A:
1) 2012DT00001 2012DT1
2) 2001CM00012 2001CM12
In cell B1 enter the formula: =LEFT(A1,6)&VALUE(RIGHT(A1,5))Drag down as needed. You can now use Column B in your =VLOOKUP() something along the lines of:=VLOOKUP(B1,Sheet2!A1:B2,2,1)The second way is to use the formula directly in your =VLOOKUP() which eliminates the need for column BSomething like:=VLOOKUP(LEFT(A1,6)&VALUE(RIGHT(A1,5)),Sheet2!A1:B2,2,1)The trick is in the: VALUE(RIGHT(A1,5)) section, it takes the last five characters of your text string, IE 00001 or 00012and converts them from TEXT to a NUMBER, and since Excel strips out any leading zeros in a number you end up with your required digit.See how that works for you.MIKE

Gone though the "Add-ons" one by one.
Uninstalled Google Earth.
Uninstalled Itunes.
I spent 2 hours on the phone with Microsoft Tech Support.
They had me turning things on and off and still no solution. (I had plans to go see Jeff Dunham so I had to go. He was great BTW.)

I recently updated my laptop (Lenovo Z570) to Windows 10. Now whenever I'm trying to type anything (my password to log onto the computer, within a web browser, in a Word doc, etc) it will all of a sudden act as if I clicked somewhere else and doesn't acknowledge what I'm typing anymore. And then a second or two later it will recognize me typing again and allow me to type. It does not pick up where it left off though, it will just resume from whichever key I'm hitting at that moment. Anyone knows of great touch typing apps for iPad? One of my friend's kids need for their toddlers. I have currently recommended them Typing Fingers by Foriero as I have personally used it. It is by far the best I have come across. It is interactive, fun and graphical. It has 32 structured levels and is available in seven languages. Here is the link if any one of you wants to try:
If someone has a better alternative than this app then please let us know. I would be awaiting for your replies.Hi.

Hi, after using Google and searching through forums I'm still stuck with the following problem. For a installation at the Deutsches Museum in Munich I need the Yoga to boot itself at a defined date/time. Shutting down is not the problem, but automatic boot is. Normally there are two ways how to do this- Wake on LAN- Wake on RTC- Wake on Power (if a PC gets connected to a power source it will start automatically) I'm missing those options in the BIOS settings. But maybe I've overread something. Maybe I have to look somewhere else. The only source I found (not yet tested) was where I have to built my own solution. Anyway, is there any chance to boot the the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro or Yoga 3 Pro at a specific date/time? Best wishes

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro/Yoga 3 Pro - Missing BIOS function to automatically boot the Yoga at specific time

I have been spending hours to find a way to apply WOL to a yoga 3 pro. I could not believe that it is simply not there. Is that to protect the user or a mistake? Is there an update I missed somewhere, or is a correction  being prepared? Thanks

I installed Windows 8.1 pro due to the need of domain, I also downloaded and installed all Lenovo software as well as drivers. I am also using Classic Shell to get a "normal" start menu. Issue 1: Keyboard disables when not in laptop mode, touchpad is allways enabled. How do I disable touchpad in tent, stand tablet mode? Issue 2: Soft keyboard shows up in Microsoft software, however it does not show up when typing in other software, Firefox, Lightroom etc. Is there a way to make this work? Issue 3: In full resolution Windows scale bad, as several computers now delivers with this high resolution and 4K monitors will be more common, is there a fix from Microsoft to get normal scaling? Ie. menues are very small making it hard to hit the correct button on touchscreen.

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro: deactivating pad in yoga modes, soft keyboard in non-microsoft sw, scaling Windows?

I, too, have the soft keyboard issue. If I'm already editing some text and switch modes, the keyboard shows. If I move to tent/tablet mode and try to edit - no keyboard!!! The is an On-Screen Keyboard app but it fills the entire screen. Useless. Surely there is an answer to this problem?
