Yoga 260 | Trackpoint and Trackpad not working properly (driver issue?)

Question: Yoga 260 | Trackpoint and Trackpad not working properly (driver issue?)

The Trackpad is unusable on my Thinkpad Yoga 260. When I try to use it it doesn't respond most of the time. Strangly though when I use the very tip of my finger it does work. To me that sounds like the palm rejection is too harsh. Also the scrolling gesture doesn't work if I place my fingers vertically. It does work if I place them horizontally). The Trackpad is from Elantech. I tried changing the driver settings, re-installing it and nothing helped. The problem with the Trackpoint is that when I try to scroll vertically using the middle button the scrolling symbol often first shows up horizontally and I need to press the trackpoint hard to get it to scroll. This all on Windows 10. I am thinking that this is all a driver issue because I tried out Ubuntu and there it works without problems also uninstalling the driver gets the Touchpad to work but the gestures don't work then. But if this is a driver issue shouldn't everyone have this problem?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I have a ThinkPad Yoga 12 2nd gen with these specs: -Processor: Intel core i5-5300U-Ram: 8GB-Hard Drive: Samsung 850 Pro 512GB SSD (installed by myself) and SanDisk 16GB PCIe M.2-Screen: Full HD 10 point multi-touch with Wacom digitizer-BIOS: JEET78WW (1.27) The trackpad and trackpoint on this laptop has stopped working the second time and with that, the CPU fan has halted as well, with the backlit function of the keyboard non-working as well. The fan is really important because my heavy-duty use of this machine makes it really hot real quick. My laptop is pretty much useless without it and want a solution for it. I did try to update my BIOS for this because on some forums, this was an issue fixed by updating their BIOS. The system does not recognize the Synaptics trackpad and trackpoint (yes the TRACKPOINT is not working as well) and I have tried downloading the drivers of the trackpad, but to no luck the system did not recognize the trackpad. It seems as if there is a faulty connection physically, but I could not figure it out. The first time it happened, I sent it back for an in Depot Service, but this time around, I am out of warranty and when I asked a ThinkPad Certified Technician, he recommended me to simply buy a new machine rather than getting it serviced because it would cost me more than half as much of the original price of my laptop. I really like this laptop and don't want to change it, but if I have to, the 8th generation Intel pro... Hello everyone!  Recently I found that the trackpad and trackpoint would suddenly lose response. The cursor is gone; pressing any button---nothing. But I could still use the touchscreen to navigate and the Windows 10 doesn't freeze.  It happens out of the blue. It has happened two times in 2 or 3 days. Those times I was using my computer broswing the web, unlike others having this issue from waking up. I updated the mouse driver but this issue is still not resolved.  Do anyone has similiar issue? I would really appreciate any help! Have a good day

I bought a Yoga 460 from the Lenovo Outlet (refurbished) and it is completely wrong on specs (wrong graphics, wrong HD, wrong display, etc.). However, moving beyond that for a moment, I am having two issues related to trackpads/trackpoints. I am on Windows 10 and haven't even installed anything. (1) The cursor is arbitrarily moving around the screen. When I turn off the Trackpoint, the cursor no longer moves erratically. (2) Once I turn off Trackpoint, the Trackpad is still super laggy. Moving the cursor across the screen is choppy and slow. The touchscreen, meanwhile, is lightning quick and fine. I updated my drivers and hardware checks out in Lenovo Solutions Center. I am terribly disappointed in the product I have received so far and hope that once I return the product and receive the product I actually ordered.

My trackpoint/pad keeps going out intermittantly, it works till it sleeps, then it doesn't work anymore and the mouse pointer dissapears. rebooting or putting it to sleep and back sometimes fixes the issue. sometimes it takes several cycles of reboots and sleeps over days before it comes back.  I've gone through tones of drivers and none fix it. replaced the trackpad with no success. running windows 10 home x64. any ideas?

Hi
Welcome to the forums.

I have a Thinkpad Yoga 14 (20DM008UUS) with Windows 10 (64bits)  version 1511 and I'm not having issues with the Thinkpad/Trackpad when I hibernate or sleep the machine.

Here it is my driver version just in case:

Check out which version do you have installed.
Maybe it can also be good to upddate some other drivers like chipset and power management just in case.

This has been a problem that I've been having since the original trackpad driver Lenovo put out when Windows 10 was officially released.  I've seen other people mention they have the same problem, but there's still no solution.  Problem: After the Yoga S1 goes to sleep or hibernates, the trackpad doesn't work.  The cursor doesn't show up on the screen until I move the TrackPoint or if I have an external mouse connected.  The only thing thing functional is the trackpoint and physically pushing the trackpad for right and left click.  Gestures, tap to click, etc. do not work.  The problem has been consistent with every driver version up to and including the latest 19.0.17.2 that Lenovo put out on 9/7.   The only way to get the trackpad working again is to uninstall the synaptics driver, reboot, reinstall driver, reboot again.  Probem returns after waking up the computer after going to sleep or hibernate.   I'm forced to use driver version 19.0.19.1 directly from synaptics.  The trackpad works perfectly, but the right and middle buttons (at the top of the trackpad) for the trackpoint do not work since it's just a generic driver.   Lenovo has put out at least two new drivers since this problem has popped up  and others have complained about it on this forum and still hasn't been fixed.

Hi Lenovo! I'm loving my thinkpad tablet! Only issue I have really had so far is that the trackpad and trackpoint stop working every once in a while... (as in once a month they will suddenly stop working). Then I install a driver, they start working again, only for the same problem to turn up after some more time has gone by. Last time this happened, installing the driver didn't help, nor did doing windows restore, which was very worrisome... I've had this laptop for less than a year so it is still under warranty, but I was wondering if there is a quick fix? Much appreciated!Ilana

Long story short, someone spilled liquid on my keyboard. I took it apart, removed the keyboard, soaked it in a water (with a tiny bit of hand soap) solution to clean it. Let it dry for 5 days. Reinstalled the keyboard and neither the keyboard or trackpoint work at all. The funny thing is the trackpad below the keyboard doesn't work either, yet I never removed it because it is a seperate entity and is not even connected to the keyboard so I have no idea why that would not work either. I have looked all around the motherboard for any signs of the liquid on it and its clean as a whistle so I am confused why at the very least the trackpad does not work. A usb keybard and mouse work fine, and when I am in windows and I removed the HID compliant keyboard and re-scan it finds the HID compliant keyboard again so it knows its there. What else can I try?

Today I received the X100e in the mail. Initially, I couldn't be happier with it. After just 30 minutes, though, I noticed that both the Trackpoint and the Trackpad had stopped working. I tried Fn+F8, but it gives me an error message saying that the UltraNav driver is not installed, even though it is. I've tried everything up to this point: reinstalling the drivers, rolling back to older drivers, and even doing a factory restore, but I've had no such luck. The Device Manager indicates that the UltraNav is connected and working properly, even though I'm getting no response from the Trackpoint, Trackpad, or any of the buttons. I have no options for them in the Mouse Settings or in the BIOS. I'm just assuming that they went dead, but I want a second opinion before I try to send this thing back. Any suggestions?

Answer:New X100e Trackpoint and Trackpad stopped working completely

Anyone? Please, guys. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The touchpad/Trackpoint worked literally for only 30 minutes before they stopped responding completely. No spills, no drops, they just quit working. It seems ridiculous that they would just go dead so quickly. I guess it's also worth noting that any USB mouse that I plug in works just fine.

The new 2014 X1 Carbon got rid of the physical buttons for the trackpoint.   I am adjusting to that.  However, in more than one unit we are piloting we have an issue. A user that mainly uses the TrackPoint stick, will use their right thumb to left click constantly.  We are finding it to not be consistent.  And it often results in the user having to click twice on things. We have tried to adjust the "Edge Tap Filtering" - though I don't think that is related, as that is focused on taps, not clicks. Some people tried to turn off the "middle button" and focus there thumb more towards there.Overall, we believe the adapative keyboard, the physical keyboard changes and the trackpad button changes are all things people can evolve and get used to.   HOWEVER, if left-clicking is not accurate, it will drive people crazy and hurt our forecasted 500+ unit order. I am praying this can be resolved by a driver update.

Answer:X1 Carbon Gen2 - Using TrackPad for TrackPoint buttons - click issue (important)

Have a look in the T series forum.  There are hundreds of complaints about the new "clunkpad" with no physical buttons causing problems.  I fear this is a major design error by lenovo which will lose them tens of thousands of customers within months ...

Hi there, So the other night I (quite stupidly) spilt water on my trackpad. I put it straight in the airing cupboard to dry it out for 2 days, and everything works fine except for my trackpad and the left-click button of my trackpoint. Is there anything I can do about this? Is it possible to repair the trackpoint? (I don't use the trackpad)Will sending it back to Lenovo (UK) do anything?

Answer:Spilt water on T420 - Trackpad and Trackpoint L-Click not working

Remove your keyboard and palmrest and clean up everything you can find with Isopropyl alcohol paying close attention to connectors. It doesn't take much to cause an issue with the keyboard connector. If the keyboard is gunked up you can always buy another keyboard on eBay. Good luck

After some recent UltraNav driver updates I have lost cursor and use of the trackpad and trackpoint. The yellow triangle shows up in device manager as the drivers cannot identify the hardware. I've tried uninstall/reinstall and rolling back to older drivers to no avail. This happened originally after an update on 1/26. I had to uninstall drivers, cleaned registrty keys, ran windows update, ran TVSU to reinstall drivers and that worked for a week. Then another update pushed on 2/9 knocked out the Trackpad again.  The device in enabled in both the control panel and BIOS. Disable/Reboot/Enable did not work. Rollback of drivers to 2 or 3 previous versions did not work. Thankfully I have the touch screen or my 15 month old T440 would be entirely useless. Anyone have similar issues and/or solution??

Like many people, my T440s trackpad and trackpoint stopped working for no apparent reason. There is no cursor at all on my system unless I plus in an external mouse. I've spent countless hours trying to fix this problem to no avail. Trackpoint and trackpad are enabled in bios, drivers are fine. I've been using an external mouse, which is annoying but workable at home. But now I'm about to go travelling and need the basic functionality of a built in pointing device.

Having just spent another hour perusing various threads here and elsewhere, it seems there is still no reliable fix for this issue years after originally reported to Lenovo. So, after a decade of using Thinkpads, I'm about to ditch them and buy a Mac. The decline in this brand's quality is shocking.

This post is my last-ditch attempt to find a solution. I'm not optimistic, but if anyone has any suggestions or ideas beyond the usual, please let me know. Thanks.

Answer:Time to get a mac? Last-ditch attempt to get T440s trackpad and trackpoint working

Guess I have my answer.... What a profound dissapointment that Lenovo cares so little about the quality of their products to not even bother addressing such a fundamental and seemingly quite common problem.

After having faced lots of stability issues with my bluetooth mouse (Microsoft Sculpt Touch) I installed the new driver for the wifi/bluetooth chip RTL8723A (v1.04.0213 - 6th June 2013) and after having used it for several weeks, I have noted the following: Bluetooth issue:- Still several disconnection of my mouse (but slighty less than before)- There is a general trend that my mouse connection is worser everyday (used to work better) - and not a problem of batteries Wifi issue:- If I activate the "plane mode" from windows 8 wifi bar, it's impossible to reactivate the wifi! I have to run the windows'internal utility to sort out the problem (right clic on the wifi bar from the desktop and "resolve problems")- Sometime the wifi just doesn't connect properly (its connected on the router but there is no network) and I have to turn on the plane mode and do what I wrote above to make the wifi work again. But some time it doesn't work and I have to reboot- Despite the "wifi hotspot mode" is implemented (the "netsh wlan start hostednetwork" command) and work it's so instable that it always end in crashing the computer and followed by a reboot (perfectly managed by Windows 8 at least). Anyway I managed to cope with that during my holidays (I used it to create another wifi network which was a network share of another wifi network to which I could only log in for one device (my Yoga 13) - so I used my "hostednetwork" to connect iDevices at the same time). But after several cra... Read more

Answer:Yoga 13: the Realtek RTL8723A new driver not yet working properly

Sorry to hear about all your wifi issues.  Unfortunately a lot of Yoga 13 owners are having problems, especially due to Realtek compatibility with specific router hardware.  Just to see if things improve you might try some of the other driver versions discussed here:The "Beta" wifi driver from diecast17 is a little older than the official June 6th driver but first improved wireless for many users: http://forum.notebookreview.com/ideapad-essential/640537-ideapad-yoga-109.html#post9180970There is a slightly newer Bluetooth driver for another Lenovo product that also works for the Yoga 13 (per this forum thread, installs version 05/22/2013-1.3.744.3 vs. 09/06/2012-1.3.644.3): http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS034706

I am experiencing an annoying problem - my trackpad stopped working. I have narrowed it down to a driver issue. Because if i uninstall the "Synaptics ThinkPad UltraNav"-driver the trackpad starts working. As soon I install it again it stops. I have tried rebooting and it's no difference. When the driver is installed I cannot even the "Mouse" dialog in control panel.  I have tried the latest drivers: 18.0.7.40 as well as the previous driver. Same result. I have downloaded the drivers through the website as well as with Lenovo support app.  My model is the new X1 Carbon, model: 20A7005UM5 not even 2 weeks old. It worked until yesterday. The only thing done since is the regular update by Windows 8.1. I even tried a system restore before the updates but now there is no difference.  I want to point out that, when driver is uninstalled, the trackpad works, but without all the functionality. Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Regards,Jan

The trackpoint on my Yoga 12 frequently stops working. Trackpad and buttons continue to function. I am running the latest drivers.  I just received my machine back from the depot and they just reinstalled Windows 10 and the problem is still occuring.  Whenever it stops I can reinstall the synaptics trackpoint driver and it comes back to life.  Sometimes it is only for a minute other times much longer.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance.

After using the trackpoint for several minutes, 10-20 mins, the trackpoint will stop working. The buttons and touch pad remain functional, however the red trackpoint ceases to function. Hi!

I just upgraded to Windows 10 and am having issues installing the Windows 10 version for the trackpad drivers.

In Windows 8.1 I had issues with the drivers not working, i.e. no Synaptics settings in the Mouse option under Control Panel. So in hopes of working around this issue I upgraded to Windows 10.

When I tried to install the Windows 10 version of the drivers i got the error "Can't match a correct device." and the driver install never initiated.

I have switched the motherboard of my Yoga 14 from the i7-motherboard to the i5-motherboard. The i7-motherboard worked perfectly with the trackpad drivers, but the i5-motherboard seems to have issues recognizing the trackpad.

Please inform me of what this issue may be caused by and if it can be corrected.

The driver installation file used is called "jfgj04ww" and downloaded from the Lenovo Yoga 14 support site.

Thank you in advance.

I have had my Yoga 710 Thinkpad or the last 6 months without any problems, until a couple of days ago, when my Trackpad stopped working.  There is no response from the cursor, which disappears when I use the touchscreen.  I can see the cursor when I press Ctrl, but is completely unresponsive when I try to use the trackpad.

I have been through the forums and tried everything short of resetting the computer with no success:
-Pressed F6.
-Tried to enable the mouse from the control panel, there was no option to enable or disable the touchpad.
-Tried every combination of deleting, updating and checking the mouse driver.
-Updated the BIOS from the website.  I also could not find an option to enable the mouse from the BIOS screen.
-Fully updated Windows 10.
-Booted up the computer in Safe Mode, no joy.

I am running Windows 10 on a Lenovo Yoga 710 14ISK, model 80TY, the touchpad is Synaptics.  According to the Control Panel, the device drivers are up to date, and the device is (apparently) working properly.

Many thanks in advance for any help offered.

The trackpad and touchpad of my Yoga stops working: the cursor freezes and after a while disappears from screen. Once the cursor is gone it does not appear again, even after a clean reboot. I have tried to enable it via the Control Panel Mouse settings or Input section of ?Lenovo Settings? application but had no success.
The problem has happened several times so far, always after the laptop sleeps due to inactivity. The only way I have found so far to bring the trackpad and touchpad back is by going to the BIOS settings and restoring the default configurations (I have never changed the BIOS settings on this PC, so I can?t figure out why this solves momentarily the problem).

Any ideas on why this problem is happening, and how to solve it without messing with the BIOS settings?

This is becoming really annoying, it has happened three times since yesterday (10/23/15).

My BIOS version when this first happened was 1.26 (GQET46WW), my current BIOS version is 1.27 (GQET47WW). My laptop runs Windows 10 Pro (automatically updated from the Windows 8.1 version delivered with the laptop).

Answer:Yoga - Trackpad and touchpad stops working

Hi jrojasledesma Can you post the model of you Thinkpad Yoga? You can try updating the mouse driver of your Thinkpad, but it is important to know the model to see if it has a ELAN, ALPS or Synaptics mouse. Regards

ive tried disabling the motion control and transition but i am still finding that the keyboard and trackpad will regularly go to sleep, but not in any reproducible manner. Putting the machine to sleep brings it back, but this particular morning in bed it has been shutting off every few minutes with no changing of configurations. i would even be ok woth a stop gap fix of some metro tile i could tap to make the keyboard cpme back because frankly, this onscreen keyboard isnt awesome and shutting the laptop isnt always a viable option

Answer:Yoga 13 trackpad and mouse stop working

I have not had this problem but I have a suggestion as to a possible cause - no gurantees though, but worth a try if all else fails..  If you look at the power options, under the advanced options I found that the minimum processor performance was set to 5%. I found this when wsome processes seemed to be taking an inordinate amount of time. I put the minimum to 100%. This will cost a bit more power but at least everything runs as fast as it can....

Someone stop me.Anyway I just typed this whole thing and my Yoga spontaneously navigated back out of the page and I lost the post... ARG.Here are my problems..When doing web browsing two finger scroll randomly stops working. It happens about 70% of the time  I'm surfing the web. (no matter what browser I use) Then if I hit any key on the keyboard it starts working again for a few minutes or until I navigate to a new page.. Sometimes the driver crashes (have done updates nothing has helped). This is a huge annoyance.Sometimes two finger scroll triggers forward or back navigation in my browser.. I quite frequently lose forum posts, emails or whatever Im working on because of this. In fact I'm 75% sure I'll lose this post. I have to mash the keyboard for this to go back to normal operation. Well sometimes just hitting CTRL or SHIFT helps. Randomly it acts as though I am holding down the CTRL or SHIFT key (or other keys). Its not as if I touched the key, I cna be in the middle of typing or mousing around and it will just happen... Very annoying.,, Sometime (and it just happened RIGHT NOW) the software keyboard will pop up for no reason at all while I'm typing... I can NEVER EVER get it to pop up on its own in tablet mode.If I rest my hands on the palm rests (thats what they are their for right??) It triggers a mouse click until I take my hands off. Sometimes it stays stuck on mouse click.. So annoying.I spent over a grand on this thing and I expect it to work as go... Read more

I got my Lenovo Yoga 710 in the summer of 2016, and everything works great except for the inactive scrolling. The inactive scrolling only works when I have an external mouse attached to my laptop, in which I am able to type in one window while scrolling in another window that's inactive. However, the inactive scrolling doesn't seem to work when I am using my trackpad and not an external mouse. I have updated all of my drivers, but I just don't understand why the feature would work only with the external mouse and not the trackpad. It is rather inconvenient to carry around an external mouse when the trackpad is supposed to do the job. I am coming from a Macbook Pro and I really miss the inactive scrolling that it provided.  I would really appreciate it if someone could please help me. Thanks! P.S. I do not have any third party software installed and the inactive scrolling feature is "enabled."

I just got a new T61p running Vista business and was configuring the look & feel of it related to the trackpoint.  I completed all of the normal 'first time setup' chores; registration, software & driver updates, user definition and savepoint. I went to the Control Panel,  Hardware & Sound, Mouse, Mouse Properties/UltraNav panel.  Once there, I played around with the TrackPoint by: clicking the TrackPoint Settings buttonselecting the Magnifying Glass optionclicking the Choose Scrolling or Magnifying Glass Function Settings buttonselecting the Large Size Magnifying Glass optionclicking the Ok buttonclicking the Apply button on TrackPoint Propertiesclicking the Ok button on TrackPoint Propertiesselecting the Use advanced features only - the Magnifying Glass feature didn't seem to work when the 'pointing device' option was enabledclicking the Apply button on UltraNav I was then able to use the TrackPoint as a roving Magnifying Glass, which was a 'neat' feature that quickly became unusable.  (Normal typing lead to frequent brushes of the TrackPoint which caused the Magnifying Glass to pop up when & where I didn't want it, etc.) I tried to undo the feature by resetting it to a Scrolling only with 'Use as pointing device with advanced features' setting - clicking Apply/Ok as needed - but to no avail.  The TrackPoint didn't resume it's 'pointing device' functionality. I then reset it to M... Hello, on my ThinkPad Yoga (version 03/2015) with Win10 pro (latest updates installed) the Trackpoint randomly stops to move the cursor. The issue can be present right after booting or occur anytime, even running the device multiple hours without experiencing any problems is not uncommon. However, the three buttons still work properly when pressed. The same holds for the touchpad, an external mouse and any input via touchscreen (finger and pen). So, it is really "just" about the red rubber point itself.Sometimes suspending to RAM solves the issue for a short time. The problem seems to occur slightly more often when running on battery but I am not fully sure about that. Furthermore, only the Trackpoint of the ThinkPad itself is affected, I have not experienced this for the Trackpoint of my external ThinkPad Compact Keyboard .  I have the latest UltraNav drivers from the Lenovo website installed, version 19.0.17.22. Of course, I have taken out the rubber and checked for dust. The only thing left would be to try reproducing the issue using a Linux Live system but this is hard to do due to it occuring randomly. Does anyone have any guesses? Does this sound like a driver issue or something hardware related (some sort of loose contact or the like: Sometimes it seems that movement of the device causes the failure of the TrackPoint)? I feel a little reluctant to have replaced the mainboard on spec but I do not know what else to do. Thanks in advance.

Hello - I have a Thinkpad X60 Tablet PC. I just installed from scratch Windows 7. When looking into the device manager I see that the Trackpoint has an issue. The actual issue reported is - Device cannot be started. I upgraded the driver with the latest version available on the Lenovo Support site. It helped once, but after rebooting the thinkpad, the trackpoint was back in a not workable stage. Anyone had the same issue ?

So a quick summary...  I recently had my T60 open to see if it had bluetooth..  (it doesn't and can't add, no connector)   Anyway, put it back together, and now neither my trackpad or trackpoint work.  They show up in bios, and unplugging them makes them disappear in bios, but the OS acts like they are completely gone.  Also verified with a linux boot disc, it is not a windows driver issue.  (yes also tried all function key combos...)  Any ideas?  It seems strange that both would go out at the same time, since they are different ribbon cables.  All other keyboard functions work fine.  Also tried running with the trackpad unplugged, no change in the trackpoint, still dead.

When I turned on my X41, it failed to respond to the TrackPoint button. I had to hook up a USB mouse. I downloaded the TrackPoint drivers from the Lenovo website and installed them. It prompted me to restart, which I did. When Windows came back up, TrackPoint still did not work. It prompted me to restart again, which I did. At this point it began working normally. However, if I shut the computer down or restart Windows, TrackPoint again ceases to function and I have to re-install the drivers, restart, and restart again to get it to work. I checked the ThinkPad Configuration and set it to both Automatic and Enable, neither worked. I check the BIOS and it is enabled there. It does not matter whether a USB mouse is connected at startup; it behaves the same either way. The error shown in the device manager is: "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)." Windows XP SP 3.

Answer:TrackPoint stops working, having to repeatedly re-install driver

Exactly the same problem.  I get thi sthink out of the cupboard ebvery few months and fire it up to do some job or other and the trackpoint never works.  I get so tired of the thing I just usually put it away again but hey, it cost a lot of money and it shouold work. I playe the reloading driver game a year or two back but it makes no difference.  Loading  SP2 helped briefly and I'd load SP3 if I could get the darned thing to do anything. I guess I'll have to take a USB mouse home and try things out.

Okay so i've been struggling to find a fix to this and Lenovo support hasn't really been too useful either. Basically the trackpoint is having issues working even with the newest bios, etc. and synaptics driver. It also is having problems with the old driver too?? Could it be in conflict with the new bios update? Lenovo Support gave me the advice to reformatte as it is a "software" issue and to repeat the same above process. Yet the problem still persists.  What steps should I try next?  Lenovo support seems reluctant to give me a hardware exchange Thanks in advance, any advice is open to testing! I'm just fed up with new drivers having bugs like this.

I just got a T450s and have been having some issues with the synaptics drivers. First, the trackpad: when I scroll with two fingers, and I let go of one of the fingers, it keeps scrolling. Is there any way I can change this? Also, there's a gesture to go forwards and backwards, but it only works with three fingers and goes the opposite direction I'm used to. I tried installing older synaptics drivers, but they didn't seem very compatible with my trackpad; it only let me tap to click instead of actually clicking the trackpad down. These two things don't seem like bugs to me, but more of just lack of features that i'm wondering if there is a way to get them to work the way I'd like them to. The real problem I'm having is with the scorll button on the trackpoint. When I press it, the cursor changes to the scroll bar. When I start to scroll, though, it doesn't do it smoothly, whether I have it set to "standard" or "traditional". When it's doing that, the cursor flashes rapidly, too, as soon as I touch the trackpoint.

Hi all,I have a T510 (i5 M520 @2.4GHz, 4GB RAM, Win7 Ultimate x64).I recently had to take off the keyboard and bezel etc. to do something, and when I put it back together, the TrackPoint was acting very erratic (as soon as I would touch it, the mouse would jump all over the place and click randomly). So, I took it apart again (multiple times) to verify that the cables from the keyboard and bezel were firmly seated, etc. Everything seems to be fine. Now, however, neither one works at all, and pressing Fn+F8 results in a message stating "UltraNav Driver is not installed." (and I'm fairly certain that it is). In the BIOS, in Config > Keyboard/Mouse, both TrackPoint and TrackPad are set to "Automatic".Any suggestions for getting the TrackPoint working again (and the TouchPad, though I barely use that)?Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Just to make sure it's not a driver issue, can you reinstall the UltraNav driver from here:

Hi, I'm new to ThinkPads. Just got my E531 last week so I'm not sure it it's normal for me to have to press pretty hard on the trackpad to get it to respond as a left/right click for the trackpoint.  When I'm using the trackpad by itself its very responsive and smooth. It's very sensitive to the touch. This is why it's odd to me that it's not as sensitive when using it in conjunction with the trackpoint. I have to press down on it almost to make it click. Not sure if this is by desing. I dont want to ruin it if it's not

Answer:E531 Trackpoint + Trackpad pressure

look at the settings under Mouse in control panel then go to the ultranav settings.  You can adjust the sensitivity there of how hard you press.

Hey! I really want to test out Windows 8 on my T430 so I made a search for Win8 drivers for drivers and found this page, http://support.lenovo.com/en_SE/downloads/detail.page?DocID=HT072084. Firstly I noticed it said Windows 8 Beta drivers (I'll run Pro) but I thought they would work fine. Then I started to open the driver sections and found out T430 was missing in quite a few of them, especialy the "Mouse and Keyboard"-section didn't have any. Now to my actual question. Is there any drivers in development for me (Roadmap?) or do you recomend any other divers? If so, which?

I recommend waiting.  We are actively publishing Windows 8 drivers/software with a goal of having everything on the web by the end of this month.  Some kinks are still being worked out as we fix last-minute bugs.  So my advice is to just hang tight for a bit.

Hello,I just really resolved "Famous" issue with Lenovo X240 Trackpoint and wanted to share my experience. In December 2014 I've bought Lenovo X240 and for some time used it with mouse only.Recently I took it the trip and recognized that TrackPoint is not working at all. I had X60s before and TrackPoint was always very userful, so I was very disappointed from new X240.Yes, I've checked it' was enabled in BIOS.Yes, I've tested all available drivers from Lenovo and Synaptics.I even bought new keyboard and replaced it - no result. Finally I decided to check contacts on the way from main board to TrackPoint.Bingo, I found defective soldering and what is pity - both  brand new keyboards have the same defect! Please refer to attached photos.Shame on Lenovo, because Trackpoint is solid part of ThinkPad brand for sure.To fix it you need to disassemble laptop in the way that's required to change keyboard. You also need special low power soldering iron with sharp thin adapter, better binocular lens andhard hand like surgeon Just re-solder contacts from flat cable that goes to main board to designated contacts atkeyboard assembly. - I've marked exact place by red figures on attached photos.. To be 200% sure that you identified proper contacts to resolder, takesomething sharp and touch these contacts that look not well-made - they will move.

Trackpoint + dragging is still not working with the Ultranav middle button as of 16.2.19.2 driver. It's an extremely important function for any 3D graphics program. With the Lenovo driver it's not possible to use the middle button + trackpoint to navigate in these programs! Lenovo, please fix this bug. It's working perfectly if I install the latest Synaptics driver. It's only happening with Lenovo's driver. Using Synaptics driver is not an option, because it has no guard against keyboard typing + touchpad accidental clicking. Test:Testing is very easy.1. Set your middle button behaviour to "None".2. Above an empty area of your desktop, click the middle button + try to move the mouse pointer with your trackpoint. The pointer isn't moving! It's the same thing what happens in any 3D graphics program! You cannot navigate your camera, unless you use an external mouse! Fix:Please fix it. Just don't stop the trackpoint pointer when someone clicks the middle button in "None" settings. System: Using a W520 for the reference.

Answer:Trackpoint + middle button dragging still not working in Ultranav 16.2.19.2 driver

I am not a professional CAD user, but I too want to be able to use the middle button as if it were a normal mouse. There is a lot of software that utilize the middle mouse button and can't handle the silly scroll feature. Did you find a work around? You mentioned something about Synaptics.

I've been using this L412, #4403,  for a few years, and quite satisfied with it.Sorry for the long post, I believe the chain of events are relevant to the issue. A few days ago the fan died. I cleaned the laptop less than half a year ago so probably not dust issue. I dual-boot Windows 7 and Linux Mint Qiana and it wouldn't work on either of them, so probably not OS issue. BIOS doesn't have any fan info.Replaced it with a new fan, correct model, everything according to the manual and proper CPU fan replacement practices. After assembly everything was working as usual. Next day everything was working as usual. On its second day the fan didn't turn on when I turned the laptop on. At the same time, trackpad and trackpoint stopped working, volume control doesn't work, and the special Fn keys don't work. The F1-F12 keys work. Insert, Delete, Home, End keys work. The Fn+Insert does a Screenshot as it should, but none of the other Fn special keys work. All that happened at once, from the moment I booted up the laptop. I checked the two OSs again. None of the above work on either of them. Doesn't work during boot-up sequence.Found a way on Linux Mint to turn on the fan to full-power, but it's like that only after the OS reaches the desktop. Auto mode makes it turn 0 RPM, full-power makes it turn at about 435 RPM (very stable). I assume it's not an OS issue because it stopped on both of them at the same time, and it doesn't work during boot-up sequence even though... I have a brand new Trackpad W500 with Windows XP. When I boot the computer up, every second boot the trackpoint and trackpad are disabled.  One of the times it showed a message saying that the trackpad is disabled because another pointing device was found.  However there are no other devices connected to the laptop.  When I immediately shutdown and reboot the trackpoint and trackpad are re-enabled.  This occurs with 100% reproducability:Boot 1: Trackpoint and Trackpad are disabled.Boot 2: Trackpoint and Trackpad are enabled. On those occassions when the trackpoint and trackpad are disabled, the device manager shows no other pointing devices other than the Trackpoint and Trackpad.  The workaround is easy - every time I boot the computer I shutdown even before entering a password, then restart and work as normal.  But this is annoying at least, and doubles the start-up time of the computer (a concern since about 1/2 of my job consists of making presentations at customer sites, so getting going quickly is a must). So does anyone have an idea on how to either1) Fix the  system so it doesn't spuriously identify non-existent pointing devices. or2) Make it so the Trackpad and Trackpoint are not disabled when other pointing devices are detected (the BIOS doesn't seem to have this option - at least not that I could find).

Hello all, my X1 Carbon is acting up. Trackpoint and Trackpad are not working together after a week of use. However after reading some threads the only way I could get the Trackpoint to work was to disable the Trackpad via "Enter" when the computer boots up (Bios Menu). I've tried everything now, uninstalling drivers and installing new ones, rebooting laptop from factory. The only way for the laptop to have any control over the mouse cursor is through the Trackpoint by disabling the Trackpad which is annoying to just know that the pad doesn't work. Any solution? Help!

Answer:X1 Carbon Model 3444-2DU Trackpad and Trackpoint

if this is the case, then you should call up Lenovo and ask for repair or replacement. The Trackpad buttons must be acting up or there is a shortcircuit somewhere in the trackpad circuitry.

Hi,My trackpad and trackpoint have stopped working on my T440 running Windows 8.1.When running Lenovo Solution center it says that a PS/2-compatiable mouse is inactivated and I can't see any of the pointing devices in the device manager. When I try to install the appointed UltraNav driver I sometimes get an error which says the installation was unsuccessful. Sometimes the installation is successful but when I reboot the computer the devices still doesn't work and when I try to configure them through the control panel I get an error which says that the driver doesn't work. I have also checked so that both devices are enabled in BIOS. Thanks Jakob

Hi,For several months now, I have been having problems with the trackpad. It would start behaving erratically, usually after 15 or more minutes, and eventually right from startup or wakeup. Things would usually be better for a bit after a restart, but not for long. I just turned off the trackpad and switched to the trackpoint. It too starts to fail after a while, though I can often get it to work again by opening the laptop up to 180 degrees. This doesn't last, so now I am always carrying a usb mouse around. Ocassionally, on wakeup the keyboard does not work, but it often starts working after a few minutes.During this same period, I have had crashes - i.e. blue screens. This has only happened a couple of times when I am actually using the laptop, rather, it almost always happens when the computer is going to sleep or going into hibernation, or so I think. I have also noticed that the laptop sometimes has trouble going to sleep or into hibernation, or starting up again after a crash. Again, opening up the laptop often seems to help. EightForums,

I have a MacBook Pro running Windows 8 (via BootCamp) and I was running games on Steam.

Randomly, the game froze, and my Xbox 360 controller stopped responding. When I exited out to try and fix the problem, the trackpad stopped working completely and the whole thing froze.

Upon restart, the trackpad simply doesn't work (still doesn't) and I have to use a mouse to control it at all.

I reinstalled all of the BootCamp drivers, and it still doesn't work.

Any idea why this could be?

Thanks,

David

Answer:TrackPad Driver Randomly Stopped Working

Found a fix. Just needed to go to Device Manager, found two errors with the trackpad, selected "Properties" then "Resintall Drivers", selected the drivers from the list (in WindowsSupport folder) and then updated them and everything works again.

Thanks anyway!

So fustrated at the moment.  It has not even been a month since I purchased the Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro and I am having major problems.  I would like think I have a good understanding of computers, how they work and trouble shooting them.  I can build a custom desktop computer.   I have also had many different laptops over the years.  I have never tried to build one but never really wanted to. I purchases the laptop from Bestbuy around a month ago.  I purchased it because I wanted something lighter to carry with on a day to day basis.  I have an Asus laptop that I love that is 15" and has an Nvidia Geforce Video Card but weight 6lbs.  Did allot of research and decided to go with the Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro. I can't say I use it very often but I like to have it with me if the need comes up.  I have a desktop computer at home and work that I use primarly.  I bought a case for it as well as a keyboard cover as I have cats and want to keep hair out.  Something I have always done with any laptop I purchase before taking it anywhere.  This past Tuesday, 11/ I went to use it because I need to type something up in Word but was tired and was going to do it in bed and I took it out to use and the the keyboard was having issues.  The lights came up when I turned it on but then went out.  Usually when I typed it would come on.  The z row will not work at all.  The control, FN, windows key, Shift on left si... Hello all - I have an X1 Carbon that is only a few weeks old and have had nothing but problems...please see the list below.  They all seem to be somehow interrelated but I simply can't find a solution.   When powering up, the computer freezes mid start up (at the windows icon screen) until various buttons on the keyboard are pushed.  I've waited in excess of 5 minutes to start up to test this out...it seems that 100% of the time the computer will not start on it's own by simply pressing the power button.Once the computer does get to the start screen, the mouse cursor slowly drifts on its own across the screen until several more buttons are pushed on the keyboard to stop it (hitting right click a few times usually works).  This occurs both using an external mouse at the office and the touchpad at home. While in the Google Chrome browser, the tabs close when clicking them instead of switching to that tab.  Restarting the computer resets this, but throughout the day it will keep occurring.  Hitting the middle click fixes this temporarily (but that leads to a different problem).  This occurs both using an external mouse at the office and the touchpad at home.  This also has about a 100% failure rate after the computer wakes up from a sleep mode as well as sporatically throughout the day.Due to problems with trackpoint, my default is to keep trackpoint disabled.  When trackpoint is enabled, the cursor sporadically will change to som... I have a user that has a 2nd Generation X1 Carbon (the type with virtual buttons on the Synaptics TrackPoint/TrackPad.   The user is complaining that a context sensitivie menu (of the type that a right click would initiate) intermittently is shown when she left clicks.  She normaly uses the TrackPad but does use the TrackPoint on ocassion.  Here's what I've done so far: 1) I initially thought it was the TrackPad and had Lenovo Support replace it.  The problem was reduced but is still occurs. 2) I've installed current UltraNav drivers and updated all other drivers to current levels.  The WIndows 10 is also updated to current patches.  I would try setting the UltraNave to "Click Anywhere" but that disables the TrackPoint feature that is ocassionally used.  Has anyone seen this happen before and know a fix for this?

Anyone know how to totally disable the center button of the trackpad when using the trackpoint on an x-240.  The center button is driving me crazy as I am right handed and you have to really reach to the left to hit the left button with your right hand.  I am desperate. Thanks

Hiya I bought an Aspire E15 laptop and the trackpad on it is most unusual.  If I put my finger on and move the pointer around and around the pointer will suddenly stop moving after afew seconds and won't work again unless I remove my finger from the pad and start again.  Sometimes it takes three or four attempts to make it work again.  It also seems a comple gamble as to whether I can drag a scrollbar.   What information do you need from me to help diagnose the problem please?  Thank you!

Answer:Aspire E15 Trackpad issue - stops working intermit...

I am not sure what E15 you have but I will go by one I know or think I know anyway.. Aspire ES1-512-C1W0 as called a E15 If you go to the Acer page for Drivers and what not maybe it could be as easy as installing a new driver... Have you tried the update of the driver off Acers website? Also what Version of Windows are you using now? If it was a problem when you first got the Laptop and you tried to restore the software ot update the drivers and it didnt work right I would have taken it back for a replacement...  If you are having an issue with your Trackpad after you have updated to Windows 10, They do have for this model anyway Windows 10 drivers. http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers/5611;-;Aspire%20ES1-512  It could be just needing a new or good driver... I am not sure and I can't say that I have had any issue with the E15 other then some normal that a restart solves.  James

My trackpoint buttons are disabled for a second or so if I use the keyboard. This is not and issue with the trackpad/trackpoint movement itself.

Hi Mookid,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that trackpoint doesn?t work when you use the keyboard.

Try this. Open up the charms bar, go to "Settings", and then click "Change PC Settings". Within "PC Settings", click "PC and devices". Click "Mouse and touchpad", and under the header "Touchpad" using the dropdown menu, select "No delay?!

Hope this helps!

There are parts of the screen (near the center, a bit to the left) not reacting to my fingers. For example, on desktop, when I touch a spot for like 5 secs and remove, it'll act like right click and a menu comes up.But near that specific spot, it doesn't react at all or react partially (as if I'm touching that part repeatlessly, it'll act like drag if I move but doesn't wor as right lclick no matter long i leave my finger there) or worst the circle for where my finger is supposed to be is like 2 cm lower. Software problem?Or need repair?   Edit: Nevermind, googled around and someone suggested restarting and it seems to work.Good thing it's not permanent, should have done it earlier.

Answer:Touchscreen not working properly (yoga 700)

Okay, this happened again. It was working fine, put it on sleep, went back to it after ~50 minutes, parts of the touch screen wasn't responding.I think last time was after sleep too. I didn't restart it this time, put it back on sleep and woke it up right away and it's fixed.  While I can fix it with a restart or by putting back to sleep, it gets annoying doing it again and again. Is there a way to fix this?

Hello,  I already performed an upgrade and the driver I have for the touchpad is: 19.0.17.13 The two-touch scrolling does not work most of the time. Sometimes when I restart the computer it works again but only momentarily.  Is there any other fix I can try?  Thank you, JF

Answer:YOGA 900 - Touchpad is not working properly

If you have the latest driver on it already, it could be a hardware issue. I would suggest contacting Lenovo support for more info at support.lenovo.com (or which one is in your region)

Having some issues with the trackpad working correctly on the MBP - installed Leopard (not sure if it installed fine as I had some errors doing it) and now the trackpad on the MBP is not allowing me to ever right click - or do two finger scrolling?

Am I missing a driver for this? If so does anyone know the name of the driver that will allow the trackpad to function correctly?

Thanks

Chris

Hello,I just bought my lenovo yoga 720 not long ago along with the active pen and its not working as it should. The pen is a little lag-ish. Like....I can draw only on the one side of the pen, when i turn the pen around it doesn't draw anymore. I tried to replace the nib, but it was the same as before. So I was wondering if some of you also had this issue. Is there a way to solve it? Is it the pen's or laotop's fault? Thanks for any advice!

Yoga 910 131 glass, Windows 10  Bought this computer on Monday. I let all of the Windows updates install (now running anniversary update) and accepted all of the Lenovo updates (about 8). At this point, I figured I'd back the thing up. The manual says to either click the OneKey icon or press the Novo button. Here's where it goes amiss: - Pressing the Novo button while in Windows does nothing.- Pressing the Novo button after shutdown brings up a menu that does not include a backup option. The "recovery" option brings up Windows Recovery and it doesn't see any recovery images. - There is no OneKey launcher I can find either by digging through the Metro selections, program search functions or digging through folders.  So.. is the manual wrong or am I missing something?  Addendum: Tried to start Windows File History. Connected an external drive. Launched Settings. When clicking on "add drive," the Settings app crashes. I haven't reverted to Windows 7 Backup, yet, but that's next if I can't figure out how to image this thing.

I've just received a brand new Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro just a few hours ago, and already there seems to be a problem. Windows 8.1 keeps telling me it cannot find any networks, and when I troubleshoot problems, it tells me that my drivers are not properly installed. I've reinstalled the drivers twice already, and even gotten the most up-to-date drivers from Lenovo's website. After taking a dive through the devices window, I can't even seem to locate the network adapter within it. Am I missing something? Is it possible they forgot to install a network card?

I have a new X300 with a clean install of Windows XP (SP3) and all of the latest drivers from the Lenovo website.  Whenever I click any of the three TrackPoint buttons, the TrackPad is not able move the mouse cursor for about 2 seconds.  During this time, I can still move the cursor with the TrackPoint.  I did not experience this behavior with my previous laptop, which was a ThinkPad T42 running Windows XP (SP2).Thanks for any suggestions!

Answer:X300: TrackPad will not move mouse cursor for several seconds after clicking any TrackPoint button

Could anybody running Windows XP on an X300 please at least confirm or deny that they see similar behavior? Thanks!

Hey - quick question. When I put my Lenovo X1 Yoga (2016 model) to sleep, whether via the start menu or the power button, it doesn't wake correctly. Usually it should display the lock screen when the mouse is moved or power button pressed and I then sign in. However, my PC instantly goes back to the desktop. Hence, if I put it to sleep and walk off, anyone could open the lid and instantly access my documents.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

Hey everyone. Let me start off my saying that I am a general newb when it comes to the inside mushy part of the computer.

With that said, I recently purchased...off of ebay...some ram:
2GB 2 Sticks X 1GB PC3200 DDR 400 PC 3200 2700 2100 MEMORY RAM (SnT brand)

The previous ram I had in my computer is 2 sticks of
Corsair Value Select 512 MB Memory - DIMM 184-pin - 400 MHz ( PC3200 )

So, basically I wanted to upgrade from 1gb total to 2gb

I open up the computer and replace the two sticks of old ram wih the two sticks of new ram in the same slots. I try to then start the computer but I get a repetitive long beeping noise. The computer power light is on but there is no signal sent to the monitor.

I freak out thinking i destroyed my computer, but put the old sticks back in their old slot and now everything is fine.

Before I write a message to the ebay store I brought the sticks from, could any of you quickly tell me why my computer might not be accepting the sticks? Is it an issue with the sticks or with the computer itself?

The computer is custom built. It's current specs are

ASUS A8N-E
Each memory slot can hold DDR PC2700,DDR PC3200 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.*

Answer:Another Ram not working properly issue?

Hi, I have has this problem before and 9 times out of 10 it is a RAM problem. First make sure that you have firmly pushed them in the slots because sometimes they dont go all the way into the slot.
There is a way to check if it is just one of the stick that are broken thought. If you take all your RAM out of the computer and put One of the new sticks in and see if it works, if not take that one out and put the other in and see if that works. If not then both are faulty so I would email ebay and ask them to be replaced.

Hey, everyone. I'm having some issues.

A while ago I upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit and found out that I could no longer change the screen brightness. This was my only issue with the upgrade. So, I suffered through, later caught a virus through a bad download, and did a complete system restore, ridding myself of everything and restored my laptop back to Vista. I recently--just a few hours ago--upgraded again to Windows 7, updated my BIOS, and thought everything was peachy--my brightness was fixed!

However, other things have taken revenge on me. The number keys (not the 'number pad') 1-0 do not work at all--only 7-0 if the number lock function is activated. I've triple-checked and restored my keyboard options to US standard but nothing doing, as well as tested other regional keyboard settings, all with the same result. All of the other keys work except the numbers (and resulting symbols, !, @, #, etc).

I'm not sure but this may have something to do with it. As well as suffering through numerical madness, I've discovered that a driver I didn't realize I had, GuardedID, is not functioning properly, warning me with every few keystrokes:
"GuardedID keyboard driver is not responding. More detail on the error is available in the Event Viewer under Manage in the toolbar. GuardedID is now turned Off." Not only am I irritated with this message popping up every ten strokes but I'm becoming paranoid. There is no trace of GuardedID on my computer whatsoe... Read more

I recently replaced a nvidia geforce 2 driver with an ati radeon 9250.The main reason was that i needed a better driver to play splinter cell: pandora tomorrow.I can begin to play the first mission but than the game freezes up.The support help that i have received told me to go into control panel and remove other drivers that are installed because they will interfere with the new one. I am new to this and need some advice. In the control panel it says that i have a nividia windows 2000/xp display driver. Should i delete it and would it help the Radeon to be able to work my new game. All other games etc.. that we have work ok with the new driver. Also i was told to go into the device manager and see if the ati is sharing a number with any of the other devices. I looked and do not see any thing although i am very unsure about this becuase i am not too experienced at troubleshooting. I have windows xp service pack 2, intel pentium 4, 1.6 ghz, 512 mb of ram.

I have had the crimson edition (15.12) installed for quite a while and it worked fine ,but every time I reboot my laptop radeon settings says that I can update my driver. My laptop has an apu and a dedicated graphics card but I am unable to install the 16.3.2 version.
I thought I maybe had to remove the previous driver. I did that, but now I am unable to get even the old drivers to work.
Radeon settings keeps saying that the driver is not working properly or that it is missing.
Does anybody know how to solve this problem?

In my HP Compaq Presario V3000 Laptop with Windows 8.1(32 bit) version, when I play a video such as Youtube, I do not receive any audio although video is played. But Device manager shows the message for 'Sound audio contoller' as 'HD audio driver working properly'. But if I disable Sound/Video Controller and then enable it, the audio comes back properly. But my problem is that every time I open the computer, I have to do this exercise if I wish to watch aan audio/video bit! Pl advise.

If the sound problem is ONLY with YouTube, install the latest Adobe Flash player and see if that fixes it. YouTube uses the Adobe Flash and it has been known to cause the problem you have.
