I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

After the last windows update from I think 12th July my fingerprint sensor stops responding. After the restart because of the updates the fingerprint log on kept on reporting "Please wait....."I logged on after 20 minutes with my password.Because of this I restored the laptop back to before the update but the fingerprint log on is still reporting "Please wait....."After this I tried via the "Lenovo's Notebook Fingerprint Reader" software to set new fingerprints. After clicking on any of the slots the software responds with the message: Can not communicate with sensor. Please confirm sensor is ready.I tried reinstalling the drivers  by  first removing the from the "Device Manager" but this had no effect. The drivers installed with no problems. But still unable to log on with my fingerprint. Who can help??Is my fingerprint reader broken??

I set up my brand new W700 with the fingerprint software and all my prints and it worked beautifully.  Then 2 days later my Lenovo external keyboard with fingerprint sensor arrived, I connected it and it couldn't find that sensor with the lid closed on my W700.  I did the updates and installed that Keyboards driver and it eventually worked.  Then I disconnected from my docking station, took the laptop on the road and it told me, the W700 integral fingerprint sensor could not be found. Lenovo support was rather unhelpful, telling me it was my "software" issue.  Their eventual suggestion was a total re-install, which I did because according to them, they don't support Windows XP Service Pack 3.  So, after the rebuild and re-install, I had the internal fingerprint sensor working, and when I re-docked it, the external sensor worked.  I have subsequently undocked the machine and I am back to where I started with a brand new machine that can not find it's internal fingerprint sensor at logon or when I go to ThinkVantage, yet it did ask for a fingerprint swipe for my email password and it accepted it! I know it's there, it's not damaged and I know it works, but Lenovo says it's a software issue, not a hardware one, yet the only hardware I have is theirs and their software drivers!  Any suggestions?

Answer:W700 Fingerprint Sensor Not found after External Keyboard w/Fingerprint sensor is connected

What is the FRU number on the external keyboard w/ FPR you purchased?  I can lookup the FPR vendor from it.
I suspect that the internal FPR and the external FPR are two different vendors requiring two different drivers that are not compatible.

Hi,I am suspecting a hardware failure, but wanted to check the forums first anyway.I have an X230 Tablet running Windows 8.1 Update. Fingerprint software 6.0. Was working fine (i.e. swipe to power on and log on to Windows and the Lenovo Password Mgr) until this morning. No more green light on the sensor, no function. Windows says that the fingerprint sensor is not available. It was still showing up in Device Manager, I uninstalled it as part of some troubleshooting and it's not being detected anymore now.Any ideas other than hardware? Thanks,SA.

Answer:X230 Tablet fingerprint reader stopped working

It sounds like hardware failure but try one more thing:

Reboot into BIOS setup (by pressing F1 at the ThinkPad logo screen).
Go to the security -> fingerprint menu.
There's an option about clearing the fingerprint sensor storage (or something like that).
What happens?

Hi. I've searched this whole forum and it seems that no one has this problem... I've downloaded the latest fingerprint software (5.8.2.4462).Installed the necessary drivers. (p961b_fprx64_582ww) The driver installed smoothly as well as opening the software, but when I tried to enroll, and this message, "Cannot find fingerprint sensor device", pops up. It did the same thing when tried clicking on the tutorial. I've looked into the setting, but there's no option of enabling or disabling the sensor. The "Bio service" in Device manager is enable and working properly. So I'm just lost... Any hint/help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

HI,I have a T500 (LENOVO 2081CTO ThinkPad T500) running W7 32 bit.  Been working fine since September 10.  Today when simply trying to logon the fingerprint sensor has stopped working.  Laptop had not even been moved, simply resting on desk and then switched on from powered off.A few times since have received message that "USB device is being installed"  with finally "USB Device could not be installed.  There is a problem with your device."  Device Manager showed a problem with "USB Composite device"Powered off/on gave same symptom.Downloaded & installed latest fingerprint software 7wf162ww.exe.  Installed OK.  USB device appeared to then automatically pick up and reinstall correctly.  BUT still unable to use fingerprint to logon or for with Thinkvantage Client Security.Using Thinkvantage Lenovo Fingerprint Software gives error "Cannot communicate with sensor.  Please confirm the sensor is ready."   I've also noticed the keyboard around the fingerprint sensor is very warm, almost hot.  As if it is being constantly turned on? Fingerprint sensor is AuthenTec Inc. I cant seem to find this tool and I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it and it doesnt work. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Did you check if this option is located in the Protector Suite QL application?
Possibly it?s a part of this software.

Where did you find this program and was this application preinstalled on the Toshiba recovery image?

Hi, I lost finger print functions lately. I thought it might have been new Power Manager 2.51 but I did a system Restore from a point two days ago and Finger Print sensor was still broken. The symptoms are: login screen will always tell me to wait for fingerprint sensor to be ready (which never happens); when trying to enroll new fingerprints it says "cannot communicate with the  sensor"; there is no sensor information utility in control panel classic view. I tried reinstalling fingerprint software and it stays the same. I tried taking the palm rest of T61 and  connecting to W500 and then it did find a new device (biometric co-processor). Connecting original palm rest again didn't change anything. Device Manager has AuthenTec device in it but there is no category for 'biometric devices' (It is there on T61) What to do next?

Answer:Fingerprint sensor problem!

lukaszsw,

For W500 on Vista, in the Device Manager the FPR will be listed under "Personal Identification Devices".

If you continue to have issues that re-installing the device software does not resolve, I would say that this is a perfect time to utilize your warranty and have the palm rest replaced.

I have two week old X1 Yoga (20FQ) and the fingerprint sensor seems to work very unstable. It worked fine for a while and and suddenly in Windows 10 login it didn't work at all. It seems to read multiple times as when I put my finger close to sensor it immediately gives "Too many failed attempts" message and asks to login with PIN-code. I removed the device and re-installed the latest drivers from Lenovo support page and it worked again for two days. And now again I cannot login using fingerprint sensor. As the issue was resolved for couple of days with reinstalling the device, it might not be a HW-issue. Is there any good diagnostic tools available or is there a place to change the sensitivity of the sensor? Many thanks in advance for all the help!

Hi everyone, I'm using a X1 Carbon Touch (Type 20A8, Windows 8.1)Fingerprint software: ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software 6.0.0 I'm having an issue with the fingerprint sensor and am curious as to whether anyone else have had this issue before and how you resolved it: When the computer resumes from deep sleep, I am taken to the login screen. When I swipe my finger, the fingerprint is accepted, but the screen turns black, flickers (showing the password entry login page), and then stays black. I can swipe my fingerprint again, and the same thing keeps repeating. The fingerprint sensor is working, because when I swipe using a non-recognised finger, it blinks orange. On the black screen, I can control my cursor, and the adaptive keyboard works, but any function I press such as ctrl+alt+del does not show anything. In the end, the solution is to conduct a force-shutdown. This issue has been occuring intermittently (about once every 2 days or so). One interesting side effect after I restart and login is that my desktop icons are misplaced, so I'm guessing that there is some issue with the screen resolution. Some forums have recommended turning off the quick resume from deep sleep function, but I'm hoping to find a solution that doesn't result in me losing capabilities. This seems to be a software issue so I'm hoping I don't have to send it down for repair because I had a really bad experience the last time I sent it down for repair. Answer:Intermittent fingerprint sensor problem - X1 Carbon

First thing I noticed is that you're using fingerprint software which is not intended for your system.
Type 20A8 uses Lenovo Fingerprint Manager Pro, not ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software.
I don't know if it could be causing your problem or not, but first step should be confirming that the correct software is installed, and uninstalling any incorrect software.

Hi all, I've spent far too long trying to solve this by myself, and need to reach out to someone who might have resolved this issue. I've read tons of similar questions online, and rebooted dozens of times after trying many different things. I have a Carbon Touch 3444-CUU that can't see it's fingerprint reader. It used to work when brand new, but after lots of lenovo and windows updates, it now does not:  I am on Windows 8.1, with all updates. No problems in device manager.Touchchip Fingerprint Coprocessor (WBF advanced mode) installed under Biometric devices fine.Power management set to _not_ turn off device to save power. The bios is 2.61. I suspect the problem is very low-level, because even the BIOS cannot find device when trying to set it up. If I have the lates BIOS, but it can't see the device - what can I do? Thanks everyone..

Hi, I'm a happy owner of a Dell E5270 and on The base plate there's a fingerprint sensor. However, when I install the recommended drivers there are no biometric devices. What is visible (in device manager) is Dell Control Vault w/o fingerprint sensor. Is it possible that there is a sensor but that The system lacks the optional fingerprint unit inside the laptop housing? There are no exclamation Marks in the device manager.
Secondly I've found the Dell DW5811E 3P10Y wwan card for the dell e5270 at a bargain price but i would like to know where to finf the cables in the housing? .

Hi ramirez,Welcome to the forum!Do the obvious first, go to BIOS to make sure fingerprint reader is enabled there then reload/reinstall fingerprint driver. If no go then my guess is that the problem could be due to accidental disconnection of the fingerprint cable from system board of your SL500. Answer:Problem with fingerprint reader on thinkpad x230

Hi, ajbrewer93

Are you using the Lenvovo software when you are getting this error? If so, this error normally appears when the finger is swiped across the reader and the duration was not long enough. Also, I would make sure the drivers for the reader are up to date (which can be found here), and also that the software is up to date (which can be found here.) When searching for the driver, you can use the dropdown menus to filter by operating system and device (i.e., Fingerprint Reader) to make searching faster.

Hope it helps,
Adam

Answer:X230 Tablet and Ericsson H5321 wwan problem

Solution wasn't so simple... The Lenovo support changed a new Gobi 3000 wwan card. That was ok to the bios and laptop was running ok on windows 7. Everything worked well at least in Finland. So the Ericsson wwan card will not work current bios version. This is not mentioned on product catalog. The support changed this board without any costs. Windows 8 problems: Then I changed from win7 pro to win8 pro... Gobi 3000 drivers are not currently on Lenovo website, but you could find the drivers from other website. Drivers called LenovoGobi3kSetup.exe seem to be working ok on Windows 8. You'll find the link from the community to those drivers. ....but! It works until you rotate the display top of the keyboard. Then mobile broadband is disabled and there is no way to turn on this feature. Windows 8 troubleshoot says that the wwan switch is disabled and advices to enable the switch. But there is no any switch for wwan module!!! On windows 7 will work similary but you can switch wwan on when change the display rotation. Settinga are as well in FN+F5 button. But it will not work on windows 8 similary. It just disables all wifi actions. Solution for wwan switch enabling: Just install think vantage access for windows 7! It will give some errors, but ignore them. It will install finally and then you can switch wwan module again on. On my laptop this seem to be working now ok. I'm using think vantage acces only to enable the wwan modul... Read more

Hi, My Thinkpad X230 tablet screen is not truning on.  It just shows the dark blank screen. The power button is on, all other indicators are green.I have tried removing the battery, holding Fn button etc. Can someone help to resolve this issue please.. Thank You.

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad X230 Tablet - Display Problem

If it is under warranty, call for service, rather than dealing with it. The first step is to unplug it and remove the battery. Press the power button 5 times, holding it for 10 seconds on the last push. Put it back together; plug it in, and try again.

I have been using my X230T for about 1 month now.I love it,Contrary to many review, mine came in with no manufacturing default.it sit straight, all part are solid in place. The hand writing is awsome. But I do found that the screen scratches to easily, even the pen after long period of use can make smal scratch. I would have love to see this laptop with the Gorilla screen. And the camera cover is not strong enough, Mine is already cracked. Hoping I can change that eventually. I have one problem that came up recently. When I use it in tablet mode for a long period of time, the mouse pad, button and track ball all stop working.Restart does not fix it, I know I can remove the drivers and run driver update, but this is not a solution.I would really like to see this issue fixed, and if you need me to run test, report to try and build a case scenario I am more then willing to do so.

Answer:X230 Tablet Personnal rewview and minor problem

For the screen scratches I would recommend a screen protector. I myself using on efor about 30? (you consider myself a bit mad^^) But I also assume that its lifespan is about 3 years so the price is ok for me. How did your camera cover crack? Just by the torsion the screen is exposed to? or something else? Regarding your input periphals:What do you mean by "restart does not fix it"? Do mean that they won't take up their work even after you restart the system?

Hello folks, I've got a problem with my brand new X200 waking up from sleep mode, when using Avira Security Suite. Not sure where the problem lies - is it Avira or is it Lenovo? I'll try asking here anyway...The hardware:A very new Lenovo X200 Tablet with Vista SP1 and standard Lenovo bits and pieces including fingerprint reader and not much else. The PC is configured to ask for a password when waking up from sleep. Fingerprint recognition is enabled and I'm requiring a password on wake-up (so when the PC wakes up I get two icons, one for typed password login and one for fingerprint). The problem:Prior to installing Avira the PC would wake-up from sleep in about 10 seconds. I could use fingerprint or typed password, both worked fine. I install Avira. On wake-up from sleep the fingerprint icon says 'Please wait' and never progresses beyond that. If I try and use it the PC locks up. If I use the password instead then 9 times out of 10 the typed password works fine, the tenth time I get a lock up.My don't-really-know-what-I'm-talking-about diagnosis:There's some Lenovo process to do with the fingerprint recognition system that is being prevented from running by Avira. My question:How do I find out what process needs to be allowed to run and how do I allow that to happen?  What Lenovo apps are used to run the fingerprint system?Possible useful info:- If I DON'T require a password to restart from sleep there's no problem - PC is up and running in seconds.- I got a very sim... Does anyone from Lenovo read these forums?  Surely this question isn't difficult? Can you please tell me which apps I need to make exceptions for in my security software in order to get the fingerprint reader working when restoring from sleep or hibernation? If these forums aren't for that sort of question (then what are they for!?) then can you point me somewhere else where I might get an answer? I've tried the Lenovo helpline but all I got was a vague reply about needing to make exceptions for all CSS and fingerprint exes.  Trouble is I don't know what they all are and where they all live.  Please assist.

Question: Fingerprint sensor

I have just got a T500 model 2055-CTO I am running XP SP3 due to company policies. My problem is when I try to register a fingerprint using the ThinkVangate Fingerprint software. The software complains and says that it cannot find my fingerprint sensor. Everything looks okay in the device manager. I have updated my system using the ThinkVantage System Update and all have been updated except for the "Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver for Windows XP/V32" Which keeps poping up when I run the System Update tool. Any Idea why: 1. The finger print sensor cannot be found. 2. Why the Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver keeps poping up. Thank for any help you can provide. /Thor

Hey. I've got an x230 with the 4000 series Intel gpu and I still get random brightness changes depending on what is on screen at the time and how much of the screen it occupies. It's actually driving me crazy. The ALS service is disabled, all power plans are set to max performance and I've turned off any sort of brightness/contrast setting within both Lenovo's power manager and the Intel settings. Everything is up-to-date and the problem also presents itself within virtual machines running various flavours of Linux. I'm not sure if solving the problem within Windows 7 will fix the issue as that is the host or I'll have to find a way to stop it on the clients as well. Anyway, please someone tell me how to kill it. Makes me want to throw my laptop out the window when it simply won't do what I ask of it. This silly ALS setting is set in so many different places and clearly I'm missing one which is over-riding the rest. Just messy. Help!

Not real computer savvy but trying to figure this our. My fingerprint sensor doesn't seem to be working. The message I get says "cannot communicate with sensor, please confirm sensor is ready" I see that I need to boot into Bios, trouble is I don't know how to do that and I can't seem to find any information on this procedure. I'm willing to figure this out but need help. I did find some info how to go through the procedure once I get into the Bios, just don't know how to boot into Bios. Thanks for any help.

Answer:T500 fingerprint sensor

When the computer is off (not sleep or hibernate), press the power button. As soon as you see the big ThinkPad logo, tap F1 until you see Entering Setup...That gets you into the BIOS. I presume you're going for the "Clear fingerprint data" option?

Hi!Here is my first post. it's related to fingerprint sensor. Machine is a T570 "out-of-box" with Win 10 PRO. I ran MS Windows updates then Lenovo updates through Lenovo companion program.I notice after applying proposed fingerprint driver (Synaptics Metallica MOC touch FP driver - V5.2.3515.26)  sensor doesn't work anymore ... To log in I'm forced to use the PIN code or password way. Sensor no longer recognizes my finger. In fact it is the sensor itself that is no longer functional (no light). Obviously before I tried to configure the sensor again but without success ... Using the previous driver through drivers manager, everything works again (5.2.3512)Has anyone had the same problem? Thanks in advanceRegards

I think I can help desync. Enter BIOS setup (F1 at boot) head to security menu and then fingerprint.  There is an option to clear the fingerprint chip.  That worked for me when I had what seems to be the same problem.  This was on a machine I reloaded windows on and had set up the FPR previously.  I guess once you set it up the first time the FPR gets tied to that application instance until you clear the chip.

So I too am getting the "Cannot communicate with sensor" error in Vista 64-bit. Does anyone have the fingerprint sensor working in Vista 64-bit? I called support but they were convinced it was a hardware problem & directed me to the local support office.  However my machine is setup as a dual boot with Windows Server 2008 64-bit installed as well and the fingerprint sensor works just fine on that side. This convinces me it isn't a hardware issue. I've checked the drivers for the fingerprint sensor & TPM module and they are identical in both OS'. The only thing I've noticed is in Vista 64-bit, the "AuthenTec Fingerprint Service" (ATservice.exe) consistently consumes 30-50% of the CPU according to Task Manager. If I shut that service down, no issues. The only thing going through my mind is Windows Server 2008 does not have A/V running... just a clean install. But I have tried disabling A/V with no success. I've uninstalled everything related to the biometric device and the ThinkVantage software, did a cold reboot, disabled firewall & A/V, reinstalled the ThinkVantage fingerprint software and did a cold reboot. When it came back up, A/V & firewall was still disabled. Same issue... Thoughts?

Hello, thanks for looking at my post, I hope you can help. I have had my x230 (2306CTO) for about 10 months now, with no problem until I updated to windows 8.1. After running windows 8.1 for 9 days with out a hiccup, my finger print reader stopped working. Can someone help me about that?

Hi,

I bought my Qosmio X300 -12H on 3d this month in UK, and just found that it does not have a fingerprint sensor.
As the User's Manual book and the pics on Toshiba website show, the fingerprint sensor should be in the middle of the two touch pad control buttons, but it's not there.

Answer:No fingerprint sensor on my Qosmio X300-12H?

Are you 100% sure that this Qosmio X300-12H model should be equipped wit the fingerprint reader?
I doubt it.

Fact is that the same notebook series (in your case Qosmio X300) was equipped with different hardware specifications. This means that some X300 can support the fingerprint and some model don?t support this feature.

I have checked the X300-12H details on the page which you have linked in the post above and there is no fingerprint mentioned!

Hi, I just did the July update for my t470s, and now my fingerprint sensor has completely stopped working. The light doesn't come on, and it's not recognized in Windows. I do have 2 devices not working in Device Manager now. UCSI USB Connection Manager, and USB xHCI Compliant Host Controller. They both say that Windows cannot verify the digital signatures. What should I do? Thanks,

I've been using Yoga 720 15 about a week and Synaptics fingerprint sensor worked well. Recently I tried to use it to log in, but there was no sign of Windows Hello working. I tried to look up in settings, but it says that Hello is not supporting on this device. Device manager, however, shows that sensor is fine, no exclamation points or something indicating a problem. I tried to update fingerprint driver, but no use Has anyone faced the same problem?

Hello Lenovo Community, yesterday I resetted my windows 10 pro at my E540 and now I have problems to get my fingerprint sensor working to log on windows. I installed the newest "Validity Fingerprint Common Driver for Windows 10" Version 4.5.317 from Lenovo Site but the Windows Hello Fingerprint menu does not appear in the Windows 10 logon Settings. Even after several install and uninstall steps of the driver in the device manager. Before the factory reset of windows all works well. thanks for helping me

My fingerprint sensor does not work any longer after update to Win10-64 Version 1607. I am using the latest Win10 build, the latest BIOS Version 1.15 and the latest version of the fingerprint sensor driver (Synaptics Metallica Touch Fingerprint Driver) Version 5.1.311.26 from 14.7.2016. Uninstalling the driver completely and re-installing it helped for one reboot to re-activate it, but this is no stable state, the fingerprint sensor is unavailable after the next reboot. Surprisingly the fingerprint sensor is still offered as a logon option, although iinactive. Soon thereafter there is a message during the final stage of the reboot ('there has been a problem...') and it's completely gone and completely gone. Obviously Win10-64 Version 1607 and the fingerprint driver does not like each other. Any solutions available?

Hello, I just got a new T400 and the fingerprint software says it cannot find the sensor during launch and when I run the software and configure the settings.  I have installed the ThinkVantage 5.6 and 5.8 Software and don't know how to fix this issue.  Can someone please help?

Solved!

Go to Solution.

Answer:T400 Fingerprint Sensor Not Found

If you installed a fingerprint software with the version number 5.6 or 5.8 you installed the wrong software for your computer. Make sure you install one of the following versions: For XP/Vista 32:http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-70598 For Vista 64:http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-70599 The version you installed is for the older T series and not for the T400. When you download drivers and software from Lenovo make sure you check what systems that is supported. It usually says "The following systems are supported:" and if you model isn't listed it's not for your computer. Message Edited by gan on 07-01-2009 01:12 AM

My fingerprint sensor was working fine for a couple of weeks I had this brand-new W541. Today it is suddenly dead. * When I go to BIOS, enter into Fingerprint Sensor settings and ask it to reset stored fingerprint data, BIOS tells me that there's no fingerprint sensor in this machine. * Windows 10 displays Fingerprint Sensor as a hidden device in Device Manager. It says that this device is not connected to the computer. * Additionaly, under USB Devices in Device Manager I now have some unrecognized device listed as "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)". Is there any way to try to revive the fingerprint sensor? P.S. Hardware check in Lenovo Solution Center does not detect any issues with the hardware. But AFAIK it does not even attempt to check the fingerprint sensor.

Answer:Fingerprint Sensor just died in W541

This is a sure sign of hardware failure.  The fingerprint sensor needs to be replaced.  Unfortunately, there is no other way to fix this problem.

I've Tecra M5 with Windows 7, and I'm trying to set fingerprint software (protector suite QL) but old version is not compatible and new (taken from Toshibas site) don't work. It just says "cannot find fingerprint sensor device code 0xe7210005". hardware is integrated.

In system is unknown device ACPI\TOA620A but it can't be updated. Windows don't find drivers and loaded packet (driver_fingerprint_upek_TC00237700A) or (2.19C_package) has no driver that would fit?

Answer:Tecra M5 - Cannot find fingerprint sensor

Hi karikana,

Have you removed the old version of fingerprint software before you installed the new version? Remove it in control panel > uninstall programs and remove the software before you install the new one. Also use a registry cleaner like Ccleaner to clean the registry.

Does fingerprint work with preinstalled OS from Toshiba?

Hi Folks, maybe I'm missing something here - how can I use the fingerprint sensor on my BIOS-Password on the SL300? It should be possible, right? I can't get it to work. Greetingsplant

Answer:Fingerprint sensor for Bios PW on SL300

Well, I don't know if the SL300 (...haven't seen or worked with one till yet) still uses an UPEK based sensor and thus the same ThinkVantage based fingerprint sensor software as the common other Thinkpad notebooks, but in order it does (?), you might read through the folling sort of ThinkVantage PDF user guide, which explains the steps to take in detail. --> http://download.boulder.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/thinkvantage_en/upekmstus.pdf  However, keep in mind to always be very careful when trying out things like setting up BIOS-passwords and the like, so that you still might can access your ThinkPad, even if somethings from the fingerprint software level might have be leaved in a sort of undetermined condition. Also make first sure that your SL300 uses the above mentioned UPEK based sensor and ThinkVantage software. Hope the above link helps at least a little bit?

HI,
I have got a problem with my Tecra notebook. The Fingerprint sensor is not working since yesterday. It also disappears from the hardware manager. I tried to reinstall the utility, but the setup.exe won't execute succesfully. When I try to install the Utility directly from the amd64 directory the installation will be succesfully, but the software can't connect to the fingerprint sensor. I also tried to install the original Windows image, but the sensor won't work.

Do you have any ideas?

Berst regards

Answer:Tecra A11-11L - Fingerprint sensor is not working

You could try a BIOS Update and set the BIOS to defaults. If it still doesn't appear in Device Manager, the reader may be faulty or there is a connection problem. I'm guessing the notebook is still under warranty, so you may need to send the notebook to a Toshiba Service Center for repair.

Hello!

Some mogels of the Tecra A7 have a fingerprint sensor and some not. How can I find out, if my A7 has a sensor? There is a small quater on the right side of the touchpad, but it has the same color as the notbook case.

Answer:What Tecra A7 supports Fingerprint Sensor

Hi

Where do you come from???
There are many Tecra A7 models available but every model was designed for a certain country or region?

You could visit the Toshiba page from your country and check the area Product -> Notebooks -> Tecra

There you should find different Tecra A7 units and the supported features.
But as far as I know the Tecra A7 with PTA71C number should support finger print reader.

By the way? every notebook dealer who sells the Tecra A7 should provide or offers the right information about the notebook details

I got my X201 last Thursday and had the same issue.  Tech support told me to do a Google search on MIGR-70656.  Once I clicked on the link I had to find the Thumbprint driver and reinstall it.  I have not had a problem with the Thumbprint reader since.  I have had to download several drivers including the video driver.  That link should have all the drivers for the X Series Tablets...hope that helps

I formatted my T500, wiped out the vista home basic that came with it and have Vista Ultimate clean installed, then manually installed the drivers(downloaded from the lenovo website). Everything else went fine, but the fingerprint software does not work on boot up, even though I was able to use the lenovo fingerprint software in windows OS. The weird thing is that I could not use the fingerprint device in Control Panel, also the Device Manager recognizes "personal identification device" but not "biometric device" (in the case of my T61 there should be both devices there for the fingerprint sensor to work properly). Another minor problem (may or may not related to this) is that  Fn+Home/End adjusts monitor brightness, but the green on-screen display does not appear. Hotkey/on screen display/interface driver are all installed. When I press the volume up/down key, the on-screen volume display appears (which should mean On-screen display is working, right?). Is there anything I can do to solve the problems? Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Answer:HELP: T500 cannot find fingerprint sensor

Hello, please check your installation through this vista install guide for new models. RegardsAndreas

My Tecra A9 is less than 2 weeks old. The first day the fingerprint sensor worked for a few hours. I registered three fingerprints. Since then when I swipe my finger, 99% of the time it either does not recognise it or gives a message "too short" even though I follow the procedure shown in the tutorial.

There is a window where you can test the fingerprint sensor by trying to swipe prints. I have asked other two people, different ages and gender, to try it out but very rarely did it successfully register the print.
My call to support was not very helpful as I was threatened with ?35 charge if they do not find anything wrong with the hardware. As a normal user, it is not doing what it says on the tin.

Has anyone had same problem and managed to resolve it. If so, how? If not, are there others in the same situation?

Answer:Tecra A9 - Fingerprint sensor does not work

Hello Aunali

It is very strange. I didn?t notice any problem on my Tecra. Please start ?Fingerprint Control Center? and check the first option there ? ?Fingerprints?. Under ?Enroll or Edit Fingerprints? you will find option ?Run interactive tutorial? with exact explanation how to use fingerprint sensor and how to swipe your finger properly.

To be honest I do not believe you are faced with some hardware or software problem but you must pay attention how you swipe your finger.

Hello there. Can someone please help me in my attempt to get my fingerprint sensor operating correctly. I think I have the drivers, however, there doesn't seem to be any way to launch an install program or setup the sensor for use. Please help...I have heard something about "credentials manager" but I can't find that either and also "protech tools" another file/program I just don't seem to have. Please help ???

Answer:Help w/ fingerprint sensor; HP Compaq 6910p...

When did the problem begin, for you? From the onset, and if your computer is new, I suggest that you call HP.

Did you install OS & software from HP disks, or use HP's system recovery, or a set of HP recovery disks?

What is your firewall?

IBM Thinkpad, now Lenovo Thinkpad laptops with fingerprint sensors failed, 18 months ago, with Zone Alarm. About a yr after switching to XP's FW, the finger print reader stopped working. I called Lenovo. They determined that the reader was working, but the software was not working. They offered advice, which failed. AND, because the problem was software, the problem did not warrant a visit by an IBM / Lenovo tech.

You are not alone. Hopefully, this HP forum will help you.

I got an acer travelmate 6465WLMi running 64-bit Windows 7 and after some digging around I managed to get the smartcard and 4 in 1 cardreader to work with drivers from a different travelmate.
Only problem I have now is that I can't find any 64-bit drivers for the fingerprint sensor. When I went to check the first time device manager showed it as an SMSC fingerprint sensor but checking their site didn't help at all, does anyone know a working driver?

*edit*
minor update :
http://www.authentec.com/win7beta64.cfm didn't work although one site mentioned they're used in acer laptops...guess not in mine
