Worst company worst support.

Question: Worst company worst support.

I purchased HP AU113TX notebook 3 months back. And since then I am getting BSOD error and till date I have opened 3 case id of which my last case id is opened for more than one month(CaseId: 3036636047) Why customer should suffer because of issues in your laptop. Being a loyal customer of HP, would say I will never ever trust HP again.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

i bought the new thinkpad and recd the end of dec 2012. I recoomended it to many in my company and am sorry they all started buying them. We all got the ultra book think pads. My was core 17-quite expensive/4333 SERIES. I bought iT with the warranty. NOTE- WHEN YOU BUY THE THINK PAD - YOU NEED THE EXTRA WARANTY NO ONE TELLS YOU ABOUT -PRO WARRANTY.THE WARANTY YOU GET FOR 3 YEARS IS BOGUS. i USED MY THINK PAD LIGHTLY AND ALWAYS TOOK GOOD CARE OF IT. I PREPARED FOR 6 MONTHS A PROJECT AND HAD IT SAVED TO MY HARD DRIVE BUT NO COPIES. THE MACHINE WENT COMPLETELY DEAD. I cannot believe what i have been going through with Lenovo. Sometime in november my idea pad z500 stopped working. Everytime i would switch on the screen would go blue. I called lenovo and they advised me to send in to Medion. The laptop would be sent out to Germany as there is where they had the repairs department. I took their advice and sent for repairs. I was promised i would receive my laptop within 10 working days.Once it arrived to Germany they called to charge me for repairs. It was done over the phone. Never again did i have a call from them not even to update me. I would call minimum 4 times a week to hear always the same thing. 'There is not much information we can give you'This continued for 6 months. I called and they told me that my laptop was unfixable and it would be sent back. This caused me so much inconvenience and stress. I have never ever come across a company like lenovo. 2 months down the line after calling everyone involved with Lenovo, i receive an email from a manager offering me a cheap laptop as a replacement. I told them i didnt want it and wanted a refund as promised from lenovo customer service . So she sent me a code to give to the retailer where i purchased. The retailer has told me they cannot refund as the warranty is over a year old.So now I am in the same boat. This pc is always disturbing and annyoing me and im getting very angry on this , without doing anything simply the screen rotates and even if i change the settings to Normal Landscpae mode than also it remains same how it wants.....and all your mad suggestions are not working if you can help please otherwise accept that you dont know how to fix and tell that this HP is **bleep**ing company because in other laptops this problem doesnt occur it only comes in your **bleep**ing products

We have a machine that was in need of repair. After doing the remote diagnosis Dell sent a tech out.
They tech verified we needed a new part, and instead of calling it in for us, he had us do it.
Dell Tech Support has been giving us the runaround now for 2 days. The tech on site verified all of the parts needed and what the problem is. TS wanted to re-diagnose, and will not send the part without us jumping through hoops. They ask for something and say "no worries, we will be sending the part", then an hour later get an email saying they need another piece of info.
The tech who went on site should have had the part delivered to us. We should not have to spend countless days arguing with TS to get a part that is under warranty, and clearly in need of repair, replaced.
We need resolution on this ASAP. The tech support rep has wasted enough of our time.

i have a problem that kaspersky Allways kills my vpn connection....

yet none of them can or will help me ( or even read what i write )... no the chat / email / phone support....
kaspersky disconects my vpn while i use torrents for whatever reason. what i tried already. Disable SSL / Encryption scanning , make it trust worthy ( programm and adapter ) disable firewall If i disable kaspersky it works if i enable it it disconects my vpn

yet all just allways tell me deactivate ssl scanning then tell me

"Aside from this, is there anything else that I may help you?"

then close chat / phone call / never answer on emails anymore.

am i stuck with kaspersky total security multi device 2016???

and if i write i uninstall it without any help soon i get

Just to note didnt had this problem with any other AV vendor.

Worst customer expense ever, three think pad?s and this v570 latter and all they say is try again. After this im done with their productsThis is my experience over what has become a 2 month long episode and a very bitter ending for me.I recently bought a laptop for school, I chose Lenovo because iv only have ever used a thinkpad and was very happy with them.I bought a v570 , the model I got was a great price but only has a 2200mha 6 cell battery (half the normal amount) so battery life is only 3 hours. Which is not a big deal because I can buy another battery and this is where my story begins .I call Lenovo (feel better when I support someone though commission) and asked about available battery?s, and wow my luck a 8 cell battery is available for my laptop! This product was introduced to my organizaitn as a turn key solution for web gateway security.... 4 months into the project still having HUGE gaping problems with the platform functionality the DLP is non functional and they hybrid solution is junk.  The Support for this product from corporate is the worst I have witnessed!! This level of non-support taking first place topping IBM support. At least IBM will get you an engineer within a few hours.. he may be in a third world county feeding chickens and purchasing fish at a flea market.. but they at least fix the issue with some viable solution. 
 
The level of mis-information that leads to absolutely no identifiable solution disgusts me. If you have or even suggest the practice of using Google to you platform to fix a problem than you as a support technician fail. It not your fault it is the corporate organizations fault for not supplying you the necessary resources and work methodology to remediate and troubleshoot issues.  
 
I am a IT Security professional with years of experience and a Masters degree and host of certifications in IT and IT Security and the educational material is purposefully misleading with huge gaping gaps of information.  I Bought New HP 15 AY503TX Laptop, I Am Facing Issues With Drivers. It Only Support Windows 7(64-Bit) /Windows 10(64-Bit)Only Then Where Is Windows 8.1 And 32-Bit OS Drivers. The Specifications Of Laptop Is Very Nice But There Is No Support From HP Drivers. I Installed Windows 7(64-Bit) And Installed All Software's And Drivers Too, But USB Ports Are Not Working And Display Drivers Are Also Not Working. The times I have had to deal with Microsoft, Cisco, and Veritas have been fantastic. From great phone connections*, professional & attentive attitudes, and a complete total willingness to solve the problem at hand! thumbs up!! Cisco always amazes me; their TAC is the pinnacle of IT support. Microsoft gets the award in 2004!

The worst award goes to CA, Hewlett Packard, and Zoom Modems... they all stink!
Talk about bottom of the pile... even mentioning them is a waste of time! From incompetence to flat out rudeness... these are your companies.

*phone connections; yup, a crappy line to some remote support center SUCKS! When you are in a loud computer room and have to deal with a horrible connection it only adds to the problems!

I run Windows server 2003 Eterprise edition with in VPC for school labs for my college and practice.My activation time bomb went off and I tried to activate it and got invalid conformation ID .Then called there tech support and got a new conformation ID and still did not work ,got tranfered to another department and they tranfered me back to the activation department and so on.Tried another ID and still invalid,got transfered back and the two techs that were one the phone started to argue one wich one the call goes to(while they were on the phone with me ).Then the tech put me on hold to see wich department it goes to now(bear in mind I have been like transfered 10 times already!)I was on hold for like 20 min and nothing just the never ending loop of music.Called back to complian abouth situation and they wanted to tranfer me again ,then we tried another confirmation ID and the same thing invalid.Then they confrenced me with three tech's and then the Windows server 2003 tech took the call and got the info (informed him that this is just to run labs in but however it is the root of the forest and contains all the FSMO roles and if I reinstall it ,which isn't a bid deal just a pain)and then wanted to transfer me again ,tried another conformation ID and still the samething (umm how many do we have to try in order for them to understabd that it not going to take it no matter what ) got transfered to another tech and now this guy really knows what he is doing ,he stated tha... The story begins around last week of June 2013 when my laptop(Lenovo thinkpad edge xxxxxxxxx doesn't detect my battery. Since it was out of warranty I went ahead and bought a new Lenovo genuine battery thinking that my battery is corrupt. But the laptop didn't detect the new battery. As a next step I reached out at one of your Authorized service center in Bangalore below.

As per the call with the technician I took my laptop to the service center. The initial response itself was pathetic. The problems seems like the chip that is supposed to detect the battery is no longer working. As per Lenovo we cant replace the chip instead we need to replace the Mother board which would cost me 14k. Rahul told me that he will extend the warranty and get the mother board replaced under warranty which would cost me 8k. We agreed this and gave the laptop on 29th June 2013.Attached is the service report copy with the dates for your reference.

Your complaint is with the computer store that you took the computer to.  Go back to the store in person and get your computer back.  They've had it long enough for you to know they are never going to fix it.  Then call the Lenovo customer service number on this website (for India) and work with them.  This is a user forum, not a Lenovo customer service forum.  By all means take the computer store to court (if the Indian court system is anything like the US system, you are wasting your time), but they are not lenovo..

According to Lenovo, my M91p should support up to 2560x1600.But it does not. While having a next-day-support contract with lenovo, ive opened a case 20 days ago.The support is really bad: "buy a lenovo screen", "we do not support NEC spectraview screens", "buy a lenovo adapter cable", "yes, your m91p should support that screen resolution", "we will swap the mainboard" - nothing. response from support is really not next-day as bought. Any chance how to solve this / speed this process with support up?

When I purchased my Yoga  3 my first thought was to purchase the extended warranty with accidental protection from Squaretrade instead of from Lenovo. Today I wish I had. Two and a half weeks ago I sent my notbook to lenovo support to the address in Louisville, Kentucky as they instructed because the case warped, the LCD stopped working, LCD case warped also and the upper case had to be replaced and it was a no-post and would not start  But I would charge and the battery was full. They received it for rapair on April 12th 2017 its  case number was 7025182746 . I just got it back today April 28th 2017. I turned it on with the power cord plugged into it and begain to let it run the windows updates. As it was finishing and just as it was about to restart a message appeard 10 then 8% power then shut down and hasn't started since. The exact same prome I sent it in for the first time still exist. Now they are having me send it back in under a new case number 70255275634 the only difference they want me to also send in the adapter and cord.  I bought the extended warranty with accidental protection from you. So not just replace it... They have had it for 12 days and its still not fixed. Now I have to wait another 12 days?  If they tested it as they said I would not bee having this problem

Thinking of taking a leap and going for a laptop for home use. Will be replacing my older Windows 98 PC. Anticipating that laptops have more problems than desktops, I am concerned about tech support from the likes of HP, Toshiba and Dell. I have never had hardware problems with my old Compaqs or my new HP desktop, so I never had to call these people.

Based upon your experiences :

Which of the 3 has good tech support and who is bad ? Am I correct when I can expect more problems with a laptoP ?

2 months ago I purchased a t440s that arrived defective. Notably, the screen was the upgraded FHD IPS panel. My unit came with the LG model, which is notorious for being defective. The screen had bad viewing angles (its main selling point...), about 1.5 inches of light bleed along the bottom, and significant yellow tinting outside of a medium-sized circle in the middle of the screen. Additionally, the trackpad was too far left in its housing and would ocassionally *get stuck beneath the case* and ALWAYS scrape against it.After waiting 3 weeks for my laptop to arrive, I requested a repair after owning it for 2 days and sent in my laptop-- at the end of September. I didn't receive any updates on the status of my repair until several days ago. I was unable to answer the call and the voicemail Lenovo left only said that my repair was pending. After attempting to contact support myself and being placed on hold for absurd lengths of time, I gave up.Earlier today I received another call. The rep told me that my laptop wouldn't be able to BEGIN being repaired until November 24th, at the very least. This is due to a backorder on replacement screens. I'm assuming that's because they're having to replace more than just a few.The rep offered to have my laptop swapped with a new unit, yet I'll have to speak with another person who won't be calling me until "sometime next week" to actually have this done.The girl I spoke with to initially request my repair was very kind and knowledgeable. ...  I have been searching and reviewing computers to buy. Came across the K430 but after reading horror stories about Video Card Replacement, Power Supplies and Turbo Switch not working, I decided to call support and seek advise or a simple opinion. The Support Specialist shockingly informed me that she did not know anything about Card Upgrade and recommended that I speak with Sales. Called sales, waited for 30 minutes and was also informed that they know nothing about Video Cards. This is what kills a company, the fact that it's own employees are distancing themselves from their products is a disgrace. Wake up Lenovo, Wake up!!

This is conversation I had with some of the officials of lenovo.Not a single person found responsible, starting with Sales support , technical support, Salesservices ED..and list goes on.I cried out my issue about 15-17 times to different person, not a single person have kept any track of it niether it is resolved yet. Earlier this month I purchased my first Lenovo, an IdeaPad Y700-14. Some icons added to the Quick Launch area of task bar show up as default white folders. (A few, namely CyberGhost and MS Edge show up fine.) If clicked, the white folders change to the correct icon (e.g., Word, Excel) but they revert after boot. I finally called Lenovo support today and, without any troubleshooting, was told that I need to reset my machine to factory defaults. This is the worst, and laziest, support advice I've ever received. You tell a customer who has just spent dozens and dozens of hours setting up a new machine that they need to start over? Without any troubleshooting whatsoever? And with no guarantee that it will work?  I have learned my lesson about Lenovo products and Lenovo support. If I do reset the machine, it will be to return it to Costco after I purchase a different brand of computer. So glad for Costco's outstanding return policies!

What OS are you running?Try rebuilding the Icon Cache.rebuild ICON cache In the past on win 7, the Icons would get messed up after certain program installs.I have rebuilt my icon cache using the above link and it works.

Hey guys I have acer laptop. I got some issue with USB ports so acer service center engg came to my house and after opening the screw he said hings are broken. That's it and fix the USB ports issue and went. After 2days my laptop's back body start breaking and when I call acer support they said we are not allowed to register on hardware issue. It took a month to register one compliant . And they never bother about that. They are like it's hardware issue you have to pay.. My laptop is in warranty period and It not my mistake boz I never had issue of hing n ol. Now it's almost 3 month over still they are like we will update you in 2 days.Worst services ever I seen is acer.

So  the issue is the Synaptics Control Panel is displayed in a way that is too big vertically to see the entire window as per: The keyboard click-for-click instructions on reproducing this:1.  Start up from a Lenovo factory install of Windows 8.1 Professional x64 with all drivers updated to latest as provided by Lenovo, and Windows upgraded with latest updates (no drivers installed through Windows Updates).2.  Control Panel > Display and notice the defaults as per below:3.  Control Panel > Mouse > tab ThinkPad > button Advanced and notice the new window Synaptics Control Panel is proportional vertically as per below:4.  Control Panel > Display > click checkbox Let me choose one scaling level for all my displays > radio button Medium - 125% > click button Apply.5.  Sign out and sign in to Windows.6.  Control Panel > Mouse > tab ThinkPad > button Advanced and notice the new window Synaptics Control Panel is too big vertically to see the bottom of the window.What is noticed is when one changes the registry entry:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTPCpl\Controls\ClientHeightPxfrom 640 to 550, the Synaptics Control Panel looks acceptable vertically, and persists through reboots. Its really quit messy. I couldnt hardly boot up the machine, but I have it cleaned up as much as i can now. It took forever to be able even load up the microsoft update page. let alone get the computer to update spybot s and d. So with that I have already done considerable work and I can post some of the earlier logs if needed. But here are the most current logs.
-Currently I keep getting an adaware watch warning that it is blocking "crt5.tmp (3680) from loading" it is triggering as a win32 downloaderinjector.

-None of the spyware programs seem to adequately clear the memory of these problems I been having with each reboot the keep reloading. But at least I could finally update adaware, windows xp, spybot s and d, mabm, and superantispyware. previously they would be blocked or hijacked if in a browser.

This is my first post. I have spyware that is not allowing me to update the spyware protection I have or get to sites that might have spyware removal tools. I can only get into the computer by using safemode with networking. Superantispyware can't even be downloaded from a cd I have with a bunch of spyware tools. Of course it also blocks system restore as well.

Hello all, trying to disinfect my girlfriend's computer, I've installed Ad-Aware, Spybot, and Kaspersky Auto Virus. With msconfig and the task manager I see a bunch of processes that I have no idea what they are, and some of them have no result on google, which is making this all that much harder to fix. I'm pretty sure there are multiple trojans and even if I delete them (assuming I can see them,) they come back. If I uncheck things in the startup menu, they recheck. Every time I open up Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, the site immediately changes to a random advertisement page. Also, when the internet is connected, the laptop recieves random popups at random times to more advertisement pages. Certain trojans that are detected will delete, but come right back, and even if the program says it will delete on startup, it fails, and it's still there with another virus check. I cannot do online virus checks due to IE and Mozilla not working.

I already found surfsidekick and fixed it using this site, I dont know what the rest of the trojans even are. I believe surfsidekick is all gone, I could be wrong. Some of the processes that I have seen are:

explorer.exe (Not bad)
rundll32.exe (Not sure if this is bad)
afhcp.exe (This appears 3 times at once)
jvpxpt.exe (Sometimes appears 2 times at once)
bdcyv.exe

pdpxgcr.dll was found by Kaspersky Auto Virus, as was some of the above processes.

Question: getting worst

i did system recovery few days ago, i guess it was caused by IE 7, now the system back to work, but there's more and more problems, the screen freeze when i browes to other page, i can't download files by using IE, it shows "I E was not able to open this internet sit. the request site is ether unavailable or cannot br found". i had use AVG, MALWAREBYTS, SUPERANTISPYWARE, and LAVA's adware, none of them found anything.

first of all i started with around 60+ infected files with ad-aware ive managed to get it to 3 but for the life of me it wont go away

the only thing i could find to indentify this spyware is it redirects me to a umaxsearch engine webpage when i open internet explorer i can be ona a web page and it will close it or close it and reopen it to a different site

it also shows up as BEST SEARCH ENGINE!!! on add/remove programs

ive deleted it in add/remove used regedit to remove what i could find but cwshredder says everything is fine and it keeps coming back

Question: Worst PC ever...

Ok so, I formatted and installed Windows XP Home SP2 3 days ago. Last night I finished installing all my programs, all my drivers, apps, the whole sha-bang.

Today, I had to shut down to fix one of my cathodes. I started back up and the Windows loading screen came up like normal. Then, instead of going to the welcome screen, it went black. And it sits there forever. I tried at least 8 times with the same result.

So I put in Knoppix Live to save all my stuff so I can reformat again. Well Knoppix goes to the loading screen and sits on "Configuring devices" forever and does not start. Great... Tried that 3 times.

Now I put in my XP Home CD that I just got 3 days ago. Brand spankin new.

I put the disk in, it says "setup is loading files" and then says "Setup is starting Windows" and sits there.. forever... just like the rest...

So now, I'm out of options. I don't know what the fuck to do. My next plan of attack is eraseing the disk with the Ultimate Boot CD and [email protected] killdisk...

Unless anyone has any other suggestions?

At this point, I don't know if I need PC help or psychiactric help...
 

Answer:Worst PC ever...

When you fixed your cathode you might have bumped a card, I'd reseat any pci/agp/pcie cards and memory and see if it boots.

Not Every AV is Good! Which is the Worst AV You've Ever Used? In My Opinion, Iobit Malware Fighter is the Worst. It claims to have Bitdefender's Engine and Anti-Ransomware Engine but It didn't even Protected Me against a Adware!

Well each program has their own way, it depends on what you like.
I think AVG is good except the false positives. Macaffe is also good. I don't think there's a good or bad program.
There all good, but I prefer others because of how they work and their protection method.

I don't know why I have such a huge chip on my should about AOL but anytime I try and help an AOL user - I just become extremely frustrated and disgusted.

I know not everyone knows a lot about PC's and I am far from knowing anything in the IT field but AOL users seem to have this nieveness (sp) about them

AOL (ISP) just brain washes their customers and basically handicaps them from doing basic functions that common users should be able to perform

(i.e Clearing Cache, Clearing Cookies, Typing in the URL field, Know where the URL box is, using Outlook, etc etc etc)

AOL to me is just a crap service and it frustrates me that so many people are just signing up for this crap just because they sent you some junk mail CD.

I have seen numerous polls that point AOL as the worst ISP to date yet so many people still use them. People get mad when I tell them I will not email an AOL account. They just don't get it.

First, My modem got toasted and it took them over two months and 4 phone calls for them to send me a new one.

second think is kinda strange, i have had their dsl for awhile and now they tell me it is no longer avalible in my area lol

Question: Worst. Day. Ever.

I've had a nasty problem with my computer the whole day, and I NEED HELP DESPERATLY! I think it's the work of a virus, too!!

Problem #1: Boot sectors on my PC couldn't be found, therefore the OS(XP Home SP1) was not able to load up. I thought, "Ok, I'll check the forum." Got helpeful reply, but didn't seem to work because I didn't even know there was such thing as an administrator password, and I couldn't find out what my manufacturer set it to! So the brilliantly helpful page that would have worked perfectly didn't, because PowerSpec sucks royal @$$ and sets admin passwords for their customers.

Problem #2: I go into the BIOS to check why the OS couldn't be located, find that the computer can't seem to locate my one-and-only HD. "Well, this shouldn't be too difficult", so I go in and then set the drive to AUTO, thinking that it would straighten itself out.

Problem #3: It didn't straighten itself out. It says "No hard disk found."
I say "#@$%@#$%!!!?!"

Please help me find my HD!

I know custom computers are better, but for average computer users who only upgrade things like RAM and Video Cards...which are the best out of a bad lot?

Ok. For the background info. The first indication that I had that something might be amiss with our family computer, was approximately a week ago. When I attempted to shut down, it instead, restarted. Thinking that I had clicked the wrong button, I shut down again, and it again restarted. Instantly, red flags went up. I proceeded to run a battery of spyware removal scans, of which several problems were found, and fixed. Still no shut down. I was beginning to think that maybe my problem wasn't related to any malware. Then, I was using google to search out possible answers, and clicked a link to tom's hardware, a known site, to which I was redirected to a site offering to sell me spyware removal tools! Go figure! Guilty conscience perhaps? It took 3 clicks to get to tom's hardware. I have ran more scans, from every solid program at my disposal and no more problems found. I've investigated my config file, and add/remove programs list, long shot I know, to which there is nothing out of the ordinary. The latest? Today I started having the "dcom error" "Dcom service has terminated unexpectedly and windows needs to be shut down." As I type this, I've already had to run "shutdown -a". At any rate, I know that all of this has to be related, it's just beyond my scope of imagination to locate this bugger. I've included a copy of my hijack this log for your perusal. Question: I fear the worst

Like the title says, I've googled the url of the pop up that tries to open (I get something about IE not being able to open it) and it seems to come from something both nasty and fatal, but I can't seem to try the possible removal tool that i've seen mentioned.

Steaming Video (youtube/hulu) is impossible to run, music is broken up and choppy, and things run slowly overall. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Superantispyware and AVG were all run in safe mode without networking, and I can't seem to get rid of this thing. It deleted all my desktop icons, quicklaunch, and start menu items (just the buttons, not the applications). PLease help me and tell me that I don't have to format my hard drive. My external HDD was damaged by water during the last flood, so everything would be gone unless there's a way to disinfect files (mostly just need the resume and some photos. Music'd be nice, but is replaceable)
Maybe I'm wrong completely. I'll now post my HJT etc.

Bought a pc for ?600 , here is my story . Hi , I've been with a technician, cause I got no display on my screen , he said I needed a new cpu , bought one for ?100 that was Compatible with my motherboard , then I ring him today to ask if every thing is ok and ready , he says I need a new motherboard , I just don't understand , when I got the pc I didn't like the case so I went on eBay bought a new case bought anti static wrist straps bought anti static packaging took everything out making sure everything was ok , but I got no display , and now I'm after putting ?300 extra in the pc so I could have bought a ?900 beast pc but , I'm so angry , what should I do ? Should I go in , sell the stuff for money to build a new pc ? Or should I try and get money to get a new motherboard ?

That's entirely up to you. There is no right or wrong answer. It boils down to your budget and whether or not you want to keep what you've already paid for. The best you could hope for would be to break even and simply start over. More likely, if you sell, you will lose money.

okay so heres what its doing to my pc:
- every now and then (quite often) random music will start playing. when i look in the proccesses running at the time, ending "iexplorer.exe" (2 things running with this image name) it stops. this will be running even when no internet browser is, but when i am using one, usualy firefox, when i end the iexplorer.exe, it will come up with a little message saying it has recovered a tab. this is very anoying.

- it has disabled all my antivirus software, including AVG, the profesional verion i paid ALOT of money for,and free versions of avast and mcaffee. so i am unable to run ANY virus scan.

- any new programme i try to download will come up with a message saying i do not have the appropriate privalages to run the programme, so i am unable to use the "hijack this" and get a log. this is with programmes that i have clicked "run" on the installation, instead of save.

- when i save the file and try to install from that, it will say that -e.g.- "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\HJTsetup.exe is not a valid Win32 application." and will not open.

- when running firefox no search engines work; it took me a while to find this site...
also when running internet explorer, search engines do work to find the relevent sites, but clicking on anyone of them redirects me to a random advetisment.

I'm pretty sure I have some type of malware on my computer. I think I have a rootkit and God only knows what else. I've been fighting with this since Monday night.

I've tried scanning with McAfee and it didn't find anything. Sometimes McAfee now freezes. It doesn't normally do that. I also scanned with Malware Bytes Anti-Malware and found nothing. I scanned with the free version of Avira and found a few things, which were deleted. Then I scanned with the trial version of BitDefender. It found one thing and deleted it.

I'm pretty sure I'm still infected. My browsers open a lot, and I mean a lot, slower than they did before Monday. Sometimes they wont open at all. McAfee still freezes. It takes longer to open folders too, and sometimes the icons in the folder don't work. For example, the thumbnails in My Videos don't appear. This isn't normal for my computer. The vast majority of space on my computer is free, so I don't have too many documents. I just checked yesterday.

So I have every reason to suspect a rootkit is causing my troubles. I'm not an expert, so don't take my word for it. It might not be a rootkit. It might be some other awful pain in the butt.

My operating system is Windows XP, and I have a HP Pavilion Slimline s7320n PC.

The first symptom was being unable to display pictures in IE7. The "display images" checkbox was unchecked so figured that would do it. Could then refresh and see pictures. Could even exit IE and get back in and see pictures. But upon reboot it didn't stay checked. Upgraded to IE8. Same problem. Made sure I had all Windows updates installed. Ran Malwarebytes several times. The software would reboot my computer randomly, rendering it useless, and things began getting even crazy.

All along the CPU was/is buzzing at 100%. The hourglass is constant. Task manager shows all this crazy randomly named files. Media center won't work. Updated video driver. Didn't help. Firefox wouldn't work until a while later. Shows images but unless in safe mode, pops up ads even with popup blocker installed. At some point the DEP files (Userinit, Windows logon, Task Manager) were being thwarted, forcing reboots.

Spybot found lots of stuff but didn't delete it. Booted in safe mode. Malwarebytes hung every time. Spybot took hours, gave a nice list, but upon reboot I could see in task manager all these files respawning. Downloaded the latest version of HiJackthis (2.02). Tried to create a log. Got this error each time:

I can't even run HJT is safe mode, so maybe the error is not related to the virus? I reinstalled it and it still failed. Then I ran the older version again. Zip. I tried running DDS, and that just hung forever. Below is the log I got from Spybot. Best I can do for now.

Not Every AV is Good! Which is the Worst AV You've Ever Used? In My Opinion, Iobit Malware Fighter is the Worst. It claims to have Bitdefender's Engine and Anti-Ransomware Engine but It didn't even Protected Me against a Adware!

I do not know if anyone can help with this one and I am not sure where to start.

1. Cannot boot to Safe mode.
2. Cannot run most spyware programs. (hijackthis, Malwarebytes, windows defender, McafeeRootkitDetective etc) The only one that has run is SUPERAntiSpyware
3. It is not rustock.
4. Combofix sort of runs but does nothing.
5. Installed recovery console and it will not start.

These files are gone and do not run.

I get the Blue Screen of Death when I boot normal mode. I'm considering buillding a new computer for my family. I know how to put a computer together, but i don't know the best things for my computer. For example.. i was looking at a Pentium 4 3.0 GHz Processor and i also saw a Pentium 4 3.8 GHz Processor. My guess is that the 3.8 GHz is better, but i don't know why it's better. What will .8 extra GHz do for my computer? I know whats better... but i dont know why.

Another example... I'm looking at a Pentium 4 3.2 GHz Processor and i'm also looking at an Athlon AMD 64 2.6 GHz Processor. The AMD is more expensive but is it better? This is all extremely confusing to me. Now i don't even know what's better.

I don't expect anyone here to tell me everything i need to know about how to distinguish whats better and why one thing is better than another... but do any of you know where i can learn about this? Possibly a website or maybe a book. Thanks for reading.

I was typin an e-mail and it turned into the next chapter for the book i am writin . My phone started to ring and when i reached for the phone the keyboard fell onto my foot and shut down firefox. There is no way i can remember or recreate the writing i did i need it back please help.

Not sure which email service you are using, but mine autosaves my emails every min or so. Check out your email service for a section called Drafts and see if all or part of your message is there.

Hi,
For about 4 weeks now I have been battling with my computer because of malware. I have tried lots of programs including CounterSpy, Kaspersky, Ad-Aware, SpyZooka and SmitfraudFix.
It all started when i got a STOP message (0x7e) which said it was caused by malware but since then I have also got two other STOP messaged 0x8e and 0x7f.
I have the exact symptoms of the Downadup worm, but when I ran the FixDownadup.exe from Symantec it said it could not be found.
MBAM setup/installation is not working so I am going to rename it and see what will happen.

First off, I'm not a computer rookie by an means. I've talked to several friends who are baffled by my problem as well...

I recently upgraded my system from an AMD X2 4600+ to a AMD Phenom II 940, which required a new MoBo and RAM. After backing up my computer to an separate internal drive, I formatted my main drive and reinstalled Windows XP Pro (with SP2). I began putting all my programs, drivers, and data back on the computer when I started to experience virus problems...AVG would pop-up saying it detected a problem blah blah blah. I tried Spybot, MalwareBytes, and AVG but the problem persisted. Eventually, it got so bad the computer wouldn't boot properly...after loading the Windows XP splash screen the system would shutdown and restart all over again. I tried running all the cleaning programs in SafeMode; they cleaned some things but the problem still persisted.

Since the first incident (3 days ago) I have reinstalled Windows about 8X's! I've tried formatting the main drive (quick and full), I've tried repairing the Windows installation (recovery console and automated)...nothing seems to work. A new install seems to get the computer cleaned, but it only lasts a little while.

I assumed the virus is residing on one of my two storage drives, so I disconnected them before reinstalling Windows. I then downloaded AVG, Spybot, Adaware, MalwareBytes, ComboFix, and SuperAntiVirus and ran each. I then attached the drives and ran the programs... Read more

It all started when I looked for a program that would act as an alarm clock to wake me up this morning. Now I have a serious virus and my totally paid 2 years licensed NOD32 is totally unusable.

I have few programs like HiJack this, Combofix and SD fix handy but I need your help to start with correct steps to get this out of my PC, I was able to check some of the steps but now it's gotten very slow and I need to get into attacking position towards the virus.

It's XP service pack 2, and I was able to identify hldrrr.exe working in the background in NetLimiter program before the virus also made that program unusable.

I can't get hijack this work on the infected computer it says it's not a valid win32 application (which I suppose the work of the virus again)

what should I do guys? I really need information cleaned from HD because of some documents that I need for personal reasons, hope I can get a help on this one, thanks for your time.

Question: Worst Virus Ever

I recently got a virus on my computer which has installed a program called System Security, it is a nasty little program that turns my background blue with red text and warns me i will have my life "Broken" if i dont register and buy their security program. i cannot execute task manager or any other programs and i get BSOD on most startups....in safemode there is a new admin account created which i did not make * i own the computer * and it limits my installation privileges. Now, i have been able to get a log from combo fix and i thought i was in the clear, my BSOD stopped and i was able to login to steam and ventrilo and even launch some games, then my computer froze up and the cycle started again, only this time safe mode isnt working. I can only boot the computer normally and be harassed by the antivirus, i feel helpess and any help would be appreciated, i have the combofix log if necessary. Hello all. New here. Big problem. my laptop has been taken over by malware. mostly the kind that pose as virus protection. PC antispyware 2010, Computer defender, Braviax, and some other ones that I cannot remember the name of right now. this all started a few days ago when a rootkit tool tried changing a registry that i subsequently denied, but they took over anyway.

I thought I had gotten rid of them, as they were no longer bothering me earlier today, then suddenly the screen was completely overwhelmed by a message saying that my computer was infected. I cannot access the internet, taskmanager, registry editor, or basically anything else for that matter. It will not allow any antimalware programs to run, or antivirus. The computer is almost completely locked up. I have read some threads about what to do, but im not that literate when it comes to some of the things that were discussed.

Where can I start when I cannot do anything?

im fixing a laptop for a student in school. She got the computer screwed. She had sp2, no virus protection firewall or spyware completely unprotected! The computer boots in normal mode very slowly and once it does boot a virus acting like a anti virus say your computer is under attack and give a diolaug box promting block and somthing else like dont do anything. Etheir option it shuts the computer down. The computer works only in safe mode!!! I ran SDFix nothin detected. HJT and mbam wont install for whatever reason and computer cant connect to internet because network connection service is disabled and cannot be enabled in safe mode so i can t update avg. any ideas that might help.

Question: Worst Virus Ever?

My daughter brought me her computer that has the worst virus I have ever seen. (She is running a farly new Compaq machine with Windows XP Media Center). This appears to be a new version of Privacy Center. On boot, computer goes through Windows startup and asks for login/password. From there, starts to load, then screen goes black and a screen VERY similar to Privacy Center comes up asking for money. (The only difference is that in the upper left of the 'page' it reads Control Center - but their 'About' link refers to it as Privacy Center) The computer will not go past this page. <ctrl><alt><esc>, <alt><F4>, <ctrl><Alt><delete> all have been rendered inoperational. I have read other articles here and in other places with instructions as to how to remove it - all suggest Safe Mode. Well, here's where this virus gets nasty! When going into Safe Mode, the system reboots after mup is loaded therefore Safe Mode is Not an option. Tried a bootable F-Secure CD - it found a number of harmful files and renamed them but the machine still does the same nonsense .

Any suggestions aside from System Restore? (and I'm not sure that will fix the problem either!)

I downloaded a funny looking file from the internet and now have HUGE problem. I incorrectly shut down my computer after it was infected bc i believed that it had frozen on me. when i tried to reboot in safe mode it wouldn't allow me to do so. i had to use my window's recovery cd's and ran 'chkdsk /r' just so that i could get the computer to run in safe mode. In safe mode i was able to run MBAM, SAS and ATF. MBAM and SAS found a ton of problems and was able to clear them out. In normal mode i am unable to open any of those programs. i receive the following message from "Security Suite" (which i believe is the major virus still on my computer) Message reads as follows...

"Windows Security Alert: application cannot be executed. the file mbam.exe is infected. do you want to activate your antivirus software now?"

Then another one follows that up with....

"Windows reports that computer is infected. Antivirus software helps to protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. Click here for the scan your computer. Your system might be at risk now." (that's word for word btw, not my typos)

My AVG is also acting screwy and reports an infection of 'Trojan horse generic18.BMHL' about 30+ times!

Almost any icon that i click on my desktop will report that it cannot be executed. It also took about 15-20 minutes for the computer to boot up and just bring me to the desktop.

I cant run msconfig, task manager, system restor, and install any program what so ever (Windows cannot fin '____'. Make sure you typed thae name correctly and the ntry again. To searhc...) Happens with every program i try to install. Internet explorer doesnt work. Cnat tpye anythign in "run".
I cant run hijackthis. The virus comes off in safe mode as well. The little icon on the bottom right taskbar is a red circle with a white X in the middle. Wall paper is "your system is infected"
No internet at all. I think it was "you pc protector" malware but i deleted some files but i know its still i nhere somewhere. Its an XP sp1 dell 600m. No antivirus cna be installed or ad warez. Can only open somethings on control panel.

lately i tried to play star wars kotor again just because i felt like it and the game crashed at start up, and then i thought its problay cus i need a patch so i downloaded the patch and it happened again, so i gave and tried kotor 2 and it happened and i thought that kotor 2 had the same problem so the i tried playing joint operations typhoon rising/escalation and again it happened. i think some thing is wrong with my graphic card because all those games useds to work

ok im about to cry...

today i got an icky virus..so i did my virus scan. all good..then restarted...it go to the blue screen where is says "windows is starting up" and nothing happens...it just sits there...i tried starting in safe mode..does the same thing....

so i whacked in an xp disc to do a repair..i click repair...and left it to do its thing....i come back...and its asking me to enter my cd key...now oll admit, i dont have one, i used a hacked copy of xp..but i have tried 10000 cd keys..none work.. i even went and borrowed the neighbours legit copy and the key from that doesnt work either..so ok thats fine..but now, everytime i restart..it just launches straight into the setup again!! please help! i dont want to loose my stuff and i need to get back on!!

This is what happens when you use pirated software.

I suggest your take the hdd out of your computer, and hook it up as a slave drive on another system.

Back up all your important data, then format the drive.

Put it back into your machine as master, and buy a legit copy of Windows, and reinstall.

Anyone notice how many issues the new build of Firefox is having?

Alot of places don't load correctly...it won't install extensions, Flash is having huge issues, I'm tempted to get rid of and reverting back to 1.07 or 1.05. Seems more of a pest than a savior at this point.

Wonder what went wrong.

Installed it yesterday, no broken extension or Flash problems here, and the memory leaks seem to have vanished. Bear in mind, if you go back to the older versions, you get the vulnerabilities found with them, as instead of patches you have to get new versions to fix them. 1.5.0.1 fixed a ton of holes recently found in FF, btw.

I got a virus from a .exe file. I use windows 1o and only have Windows Defender. The virus has made the Defender buttons grey, cant turn on and cant use offline version. I have used cmd to try to find and fix problem, but it said it couldn't fix it. I try to get anti virus, but and url that has a download or relates to viruses it detects and doesn't let me to the sight. It also plays ads in the background. I've tried to use Local Group Policy Editor, but since I dont have pro I am unable to see Windows defender as a tab. Please HELP ME!

I purchased a laptop and when it was delivered 3 days ago the keyboard did not work. After being on the phone 57 minutes (I timed it) and transferred to 7 yes 7 different people I was told ok you can return it. I had used my dell card to purchase it and needed another one right away. I was then told that the return will not be on my card for 30 days after they get their junk back. So I am stuck paying interest on the card for something I sent back AND for the new one I had to purchase. I tried to find a different place to post this but could not and the phone service was so horrible I could not get through to anyone else to complain. I have purchased 8 dells in the past and this will be the last. The only reason I purchased again was because it had 3 day free shipping and I need it for work.

You really can't blame Dell there . I understand it can be frustrating but thing do happen ( broken ) at times when you use delivers . At least they're giving you a replacement . And the credit card charge is normal with returns, all companies do that. Nobody is going to give you back your credit before the 30 days period

Whats the worst computer you ever "fixed"

So guy at my work says, whenever he opens firefox or IE it closes imediatly and windows gives me an error. So I take his computer and this is what I found.

801 Bad registry entries deleted with Regseeker
16 Viruses/Trojans Deleted with AVG
1 Virus Deleted with Avast
22 Pieces of spyware\adaware deleted with Adaware SE personnal
272 pieces of spyware\adaware deleted with spybot

he was running no firewall and no AV on comcast cable.

and it still doesn't work, firefox and IE still won't open, still recieves errors.

Well I downloaded a bad torrent and got the windows update virus.

It kept popping up asking for me to run it, I kept hitting no and then I accidently hit yes in frustration.

I manually deleted the .exe in my temp folder and then I ran every virus software I could think of. However none of my software will update now, i'm assuming it's from the virus as it gives me some bogus error message and my internet works fine. . I did a spybot and ad-aware search and removed a few files I know weren't there before this incident. However the problem still persists and now all my scans turn up empty.

Any suggestions as to how I can purge my system?

MalwareBytes normally does the trick on this sort of thing so download, install and then run that and you'll most likely get rid of it.

I look at reviews on newegg at mobos, ram and vid cards and some gives it a 5, the other kid gives it a 1. Some say it boils, some say it stays at good temps. Some say it crashes, some say it is stable. Some say it doesn't support dual mem, some said they run great w/ dual. Some say it SUCKS, some say it ROCKS. Why does it work for some, and not for others???? Do a certain percentage of mobos, cards, mem... are defective or something? what is the deal. I get furstrated because I don't know what parts to get!!!

Ok, most of you know i have a new pc. Yes thats great. Well its supposed to. Here the whole story:

October 22 2004, at 10 pm, i purchase the following from moonarch computer:

74 gb raptor

thermaltake 480 watt butterfly

Ok, first then send me an email, saying that my shipping address isnt same as billing, and i must add it to credit card. I do so, and reply to their email, they said ok, good. It then takes then 1 week and a half to ship the pc, BUT BOTH HDs are back ordered. Now please tell me what i am supposed to do without my hard drives?

Ok, well the pc finally gets in houston, and the same day, my hds are shipped. i get all the stuff, and build my pc with no problems.

Now, i wont get into details how i found out, but one of my rams was faulty, so i RMA. ok, we send the ram back. Takes then an other week to ship my new ram. I FINALLY get my ram today. And guess what? The heat spreader is bent in half (xms 3200XLPT) i mean its completely bent, i dont even see how it happened, or how they fit it in the plastic box...

So i am gona REFUND this POS from POS monarch, and get some 3200 xlpro from newegg

So it all started when i was going to get windows 10 TP and i clicked the setup.exe.It went fine all the way till it said getting ready with the windows 10 logo and 3 dots going round it. My second hard drive has been COMPLETELY WIPED!!!

I have lost 25gigs worth of data. Is there anyway to restore it? when i click on the drive in explorer, it says,

"the file or directory is corrupted or unreadable".

system restore says that

"changes made to drive(s) D: after this point cannot be reversedbecause the drive was either excluded from System Restore monitoring, or was turned off, or removed."

In computer management, it says the file system is RAW. Does this mean that is has somehow formatted itself?!!!

I recently changed the hard drives to sleep after two hours. could that have been the cause?

I tried to use chkdsk, but it doesn't even start.

i purchased hp laptop in dec 2014......with model r0-14tx. i have been experiencing hinge problems from last 1 year... i was opening my lid and i heard a cracking sound on right and day after it broke.... that time my laptop was in warranty....so they replaced the whole back cover... but after jst 3 months ..the same problem occured again in right hinge.....and they again replaced it .. and when my warranty expired ...the problem again started in left hinge... i contacted hp centers ...but they were not giving any suitable ans .to me..... so i think the hp had been making the laptops with manufacturing defects....m thinking of repairing it ...but m sure this problem will again happen ..thats why m not doing anything..... i Request company for replacement or compensation of this worst laptop ever seen in my lie now my left hinge is broken and m keeping tat as it is.  plzzzzz..someone reply ....m fed up with this;(((
