I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi I own a Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 12 i5 180GB laptop/2-in-1. Sometimes, the CPU fan will just turn off completely, especially when the CPU is under heavy load. I am a content creator, and I use this computer for the bulk of my encoding jobs. Sometimes, when I am rendering or encoding, or even just scripting. Also, the battery is only charging to 41480 mWh instead of the designed 47060. What is happening? i have owned this for 1.5 years.

I recently purchased a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 14 (20FY). The problem I've been having is when the battery reaches about 25%-30%, it suddenly drops to 6% and I'm alerted to charge the battery. Any idea what this is happening and how I can fix this?

Answer:Lenovo Yoga Thinkpad - Headset issues

Good day and welcome to the community.I can't comment on the USB headset question, but if you've got an older, dual-plug headset that you'd like to use, then you might explore getting a combo-jack splitter as described in this KB article: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Displays-Options-and-Accessories/Microphone-Headset-Jack-splitter-neede...

Hope this helps a bit.Regards.

I received my Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga 2gen (i7, OLED). Unfortunately the CPU usage is constantly around 30% (reaching up to 100%), the fan is on all the time and the battery is empty in 2 hours. The main reasons for the high CPU usage are the following three programmes:- Sophos web intelligence (which I have to have installed according to my employer)- WMI provider host (I tried deinstalling it, but then I can no longer access the network drives)- Synaptics TouchPad 64-bit EnhancementsAny ideas what I could do to solve the issue? Thanks!

Last September 2016 I bought a new Lenovo Yoga 3 PRO, I was quite happy with the battery life and the overall quality of the product. Now, 6~7 months later I still quite happy with screen, audio, materials... but not with my battery life. I give this computer use as home main driver for coding and web browsing, with some photo editing with Adobe Lightroom from time to time, nothing intensive that might heat up the computer on excess. I also try to give the computer "healthy" battery cicles, not leaving 0% battery for long periods neither leaving 100% battery plugged all the time. However, when today my battery seemed not to charge and have been experience shorter and shorter battery life over the last months, I was shocked when I saw on HWMonitor that my total battery capacity droped from 44.000 mWh to 14350 mWh. I could not believe it. Check here: That is too much battery loss for such a short period using my computer! Any idea of what I can do to fix this? I have just been unlucky and got a lemon with this computer? Should I send it back to seller?

I have been using my Lenovo Yoga 710 15" for a little over a month now with no issues.  However about a week ago I noticed a significant drop in my batteries performance from 7+ hours of usage time to less than 3 hours of usage time.  Has anyone else experienced a similar issue? What is the best way to resolve a a faulty battery for a pc that is still under lenovo's warranty? Note* I never leave the computer plugged in after a full charge and only charge the pc once the battery is below 10%.  I ran a diagnostic check and it confirmed the significant drop in usage time as well.

Hello, I recently purchased a Yoga 2 11 for my mother for Christmas, running Windows 8.1.  I myself have a Lenovo P500 laptop.  On the Yoga, putting the computer into sleep or hibernate will drain the battery by 50% in 24 hours.  On my P500, I have frequently been able to leave it in sleep mode for 4-5 days with barely 20% battery drain.  I'm wondering if this is a battery issue, or is there some setting I'm missing that's causing it to drain so much in a low-power state.  Thanks.

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 2 11 battery issues

So I've been researching this problem online and it seems like it is a VERY common problem among the Lenovo Yoga 2 models.  Lots of people saying that even while in hibernate the battery will drain by at least 30% in 24 hours.  This is not supposed to happen.  I have also not found a single solution to this. Very disappointed.  I may have to end up returning it for something else.

Hello everyone,I bought a Lenovo Yoga 2 11 laptop around 2 months ago. I noticed shortly after buying it that my battery life was going down very rapidly. I confirmed it was the case by running a few battery reports over time. Hi - I've read various posts about problems with Headsets but not yet found a solution!  I have purchased a new headset together with splitter to use the single 3.5mm jack port for both audio and recording.  I can get the audio to work and the headset shows in my "Playback" however my laptop will ONLY use the built in mic and will not detect the headset in "Recording".  Obviously this is not good for VOIP calls and I need to get the mic on my headset working by tomorrow morning!  I've done all the basics - resinstalled sound card, checked all devices are showing and disabled devices not in use.  I've also checked the microphone privacy settings and in Realtek Audio I can't see a headset in the microphone options there!  Can anyone help at all?  Thanks so much

I am having some problems with the battery on my Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13.  I have searched the forum to find a mountain of topics with problems similar but not quite the same.  I have also tried a lot of the suggestions to resolve the issue but none have worked so I guess i have to start my own thread. My Lenovo has been working fine (well has fine as could be expected with these machines) up until last week.   I had been using the machine in work without issue and put it into the car (fully charged) to take home.   When i went to use it again a couple of days ago I plugged in the charger as normal and turned it on, only to find it completely dead.   The power machine didnt turn on and the power button didnt illuminate.   My initial feeling was that i may have accidently turned the machine on while in the car and this had drained the battery.   I also thought that perhaps the power supply was faulty so I bought a new one. When i tried the new power supply it was the same result as the original, (not turning on and no illumination on the power button).    I went back to the original power supply, this time there was a fan noise (although the machine did not turn on), and the battery indicator flashed repeatedly orange (which i believe means the battery is below 5% and needs charging.   So i left the oringal power supply plugged in overnight to charge.   Next morning the battery indicator was still flashing repeate... Lenovo Issues Battery Recall for ThinkPad Laptops

Lenovo has issued a recall for several of its ThinkPad models because of various battery issues. You can download a tool from the Lenovo website to find out if the ThinkPad you own is one of the affected laptops.

A limited number of ThinkPad users have reported the following symptoms: Irreparable damage or battery cannot be charged error message from Power Manager or Message Center, or Low battery capacity, as indicated by short battery run time or sudden drops in the battery fuel gauge.

Hey there shiv309,

There is an excellent thread by CT809, that led to a solution for this very problem.

Re-installed Lenovo Settings Dependency Package and the Power Management Driver, then when I rebooted and went into Lenovo Settings, this option popped up. Ensure that its placed to "fully charge".

Hopefully this solves the issue for other users going forward.

Good afternoon all,

I have been in the process of making my laptop, a Lenovo Thinkpad T410, a much better device to use. While I've been having HDD issues, my main issue right now is the battery that I had purchased. With the IBM Power Manager software, the battery is listed as a Sanyo 42T4710. It is a 9 cell battery and I will provide any other information you need.

When I had first purchased the device, after charging for awhile the battery icon on the laptop would begin to flash amber. It will not charge to 100%, and usually stops at 96%. With the battery manager, the charge threshold is set to "Always Full Charge (Start when below 96% and end at 100%). I tried to run the battery gauge reset option, however the laptop permanently stayed at 96% and never discharged lower than that.

Are there any recommendations that you can make for what I should do with the battery?

Thanks!

Would really appreciate some help here. I have a Lenovo S1 Yoga - i7-4500U @ 1.80GHz, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, Windows 10 Home I've had an issue from Day 1 with this laptop - the trackpad does not click properly, and the multitouch goes haywire. The guy at the Microsoft Store sort of shrugged his shoulders, and I always use an external mouse, so I just went with it anyways. Recently, my monitor stopped turning on. The laptop still works - I'm using it right now, connected to an external display. I've tried unplugging+turn off+hold power button for 20 seconds, tried doing the Fn/Alt-F5/F6/F9/etc toggling, and rebooting it several times, all to no avail. At the same time, the Fn key seems to have started mapping to the Left-Alt key. So when I click Alt-F4, instead of closing my window, it toggles the microphone mute. My assumption is that there are (multiple) underlying hardware issues, but wanted to just make sure that there's no obvious software fix that would save me from buying a new laptop. Help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Lenovo X1 Yoga 2015 i5 6200u 8gb ram Windows 10 home premium 52wh battery QHD Display Okay, just some background. I am a proud 5 year owner of a Thinkpad X220, which I still use.I purchased a X1 Carbon (non-yoga) 2015 model, I sent it back because it was having fuzzy text and lid closing issues. (The FHD screen is horrible) see my other post on that. Lenovo sent me a new X1, I sent it back for same reason. I got my X1 Yoga today. It looks, feels amazing, I wished it worked too, that'd be nice. I kind of wish they would test their laptops before selling them lol. Choose what closing the lid does... "sleep"... I close the lid, it sleeps. Open the lid, it beeps loudly and display does not resume, but keyboard lights on. I have to manually hold power button to shut down laptop. I turn it back on and it goes back to my windows I had open. I wish Lenovo would sell a Thinkpad X1 that when you close the laptop, it would sleep, and when you open the laptop it would resume, that would be awesome! Also, I had it in tablet mode, I put it in laptop mode, and the display remained in tablet mode. I had to go put it back in tablet mode and then back into laptop mode for it to show me the laptop display mode. #ridiculous Battery Life: It so variable. Sometimes it says I have 3 hours of battery on a 90% charge, sometimes it says I have 9 hours left... I'm just browsing the web, no videos. Lenovo, if you're reading this, please don't a... I posted a similar question earlier and people referred me to the Yoga (much appreciated).  However, I was interested in the 2.6 lb carbon version with touch screen capabilities.  Asus has a Spin 7 model that is very good at 2.65lb, but I miss the red mouse toggle in the middle of the keyboard and Asus's track pad was designed too large....causing unintended tapping.  The Yoga, while nice, is heavier than I was looking for.  The 14 inch screen is about 3.3lb? the 12 inch at 3? I thought that some of the earlier Thinkpad Carbons had touch screen and was hoping they would make a return soon.  Thanks,

Hey guys, I'm a PreMed student who's life revolves around his laptop. I'm always on social media, watching some show, listening to music, doing an essay, taking notes, updating some website, or emailing some person on campus. Of course, my old laptop broke. It was a Dell Inspiron. Now, I have a campus job and have been saving money(so money is not factor necessarily). After researching my options, I've narrowed my choices down to the three previously listed laptops. I just want to know which do you guys suggest and why?

Answer:Surface Book vs Lenovo Yoga 900 vs ThinkPad X1 Yoga

By looking at your requirement, you prefer on-the-go PC that lets you do all that on a decent budget, SP4 is better than SB(if you want lightweight device and decent battery life), Lenovo's are pretty good too. X1 w/o OLED seems to be a better buy in terms of ultraportability and battery life. You could wait for others to chime in.

So I got myself the Lenovo ThinkPad W510 the other day, specific model being "431929G", along with it I got myself a 9-cell battery instead of the included 6-cell as well as this additional "slice battery" solutions which you attach at the bottom of the computer using the docking port it seems? The box which this slice battery came in was marked model 57Y4545, the piece of battery inside however says FRU: 42T4739? I guess and hope it's the same thing?  It does attach to the bottom of my W510 without any issues whatsoever, I lock it in place so I get that green indicator which should mean it's supposed to function? But it doesn't.. ThinkVantage Power Manager do pick up the battery but it's just standing there at 12% battery with no activity? Even after the main 9-cell is fully charged it wont start to charge the slice battery? I did even remove the main 9-cell in order to see whether or not that would change anything, but it didn't? And if I remove the power cord when running only the slice battery the W510 will just drop dead? So it's not charging, neither is it providing my W510 with any more battery life? It just sits the with 12% battery with no activity whatsoever, no charging or usage at all?

I recieved my Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 11e a couple of days ago and it came with a lot of bloatware, or at least what I thought was. I started uninstalling a lot and everything seemed to work fine. I restarted it, but when it came back, I noticed the touch screen would not work. I went into the Device Manager and realized that one of my I2C drivers had the triangle with the exclamation was on one of them. After trial and error, I realized that disabling and re-enabling the driver would allow my touch screen to work. After a restart, however, I was back to square one. My wife bought her the same Lenovo Yoga and I have been compairing the two. I just noticed that I am missing the I2C controllers in the System Devices in the Device Manager as well. I have tried booting from an installation from hers and even copying the drivers and System32 folder to no avail. If anybody has any solutions, please help. I have tried everything I knew and everything I could find. Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome,

What happens when you install the i2c driver for your machine?  Before doing so please verify the machine type (20D9, 20DA) as there's another machine type option available.  Downloads found by using SUPPORT above and entering Yoga 11e.

The battery status toggles between not charging, not used, and unauthorized battery after it was calibrated using one key. Before that, the battery was working perfectly, lasting close to 5 hours. Now the laptop shuts off when unplugged and the battery status is constantly changing. I've had this laptop for approximately a year now and it was unused and left in an unopened box for the first 8 months.

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 500: battery status toggles between not charging, not used, and unauthorized battery

Hi, Denkendale ?

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Do this test -

1) Switch off the laptop.
2) Disconnect power supply. Keep the battery connected.
3) Try to Turn ON the laptop.

If the laptop does not turn ON, the battery is faulty.

Also, Try turning the laptop off, removing the battery, unplug the AC adapter, press and hold the power button for thirty seconds, install the battery back into the laptop but don't connect the power cable and try to start the laptop on battery power.

Update us how it goes.

Answer:PLEASE LENOVO PLS PLS PLS!!! UPDATE YOUR GRAPHICS DRIVERS FOR LENOVO THINKPAD S1 YOGA

I don't see why you want to update your graphics drivers. If it works, it works. If there aren't any bugs there is nothing to worry about. And as far as gaming performance goes, it is still going to be slow and barely going to make a difference. If the generic drivers from Intel, Nvidia or AMD work use those. But make sure that brightness keys etc work correctly.

Assuming both are genuine Lenovo. All dimensions except height (which noone bothered to measure) - are the same; even if the 370 battery is slightly higher and won't fit without lower case modification - it's nothing a rotary tool can't fix. 370 battery: 15.28V 51Wh (FRU 01AV433)260 battery: 15.2V 44Wh (FRU 00HW027) Is there any particular reason why it definitely won't work? I'm really on the verge of ordering one and trying for myself, but I'm not sure how does embedded controller (EC) determine if the battery plugged is correct,  and not really want to waste time if the idea is doomed to failure because some technical quirk I am not aware of - hence the question.  Why: while 370 is newer, it has glossy PWM display which ain't bonded with digitizer vs bonded matte PWM-free on 260. 260's weakest spot, on the other hand, is poor battery life - larger 370 battery could definitely resolve this problem. I'm bored until newer Thinkpads are introduced at CES 2018 anyway - so why not give it a try, if there is any chance it may work.

Hello,I was contemplating between the Thinkpad Yoga 14 and the Thinkpad Yoga 15. They both seem like solid choices, but the main deciding factor would be the battery life. I don't know, from the information provided, the difference in the batteries that are included. If they are the same, I would assume the Yoga 14 has a longer life. Does anyone have the Yoga 15 and would like to share their experience with the battery life?  Thank you very much

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga 15 Battery

Actually the batteries are not the same.  Although both systems use an internal battery, the ThinkPad Yoga 15 has a bigger battery that has approx 20% more capacity.  But the ThinkPad Yoga 15 also has a larger screen which uses slightly more power.  Everything else being equal, my experience is that the Yoga 15 has better battery life simply due to the larger battery.

Hi, My Thinkpad Yoga is not detecting battery all of a sudden and it is not working without external power supply. There is a red 'x' mark on the battery icon which says 'No battery is detected'. I didn't use my laptop for the past one month. Is this a hardware issue or something related to software? Could anyone help me diagnose and find a solution? Many Thanks,Vinoth

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga - No battery is detected

I had an identical issue at around October. May have occurred after a software update. It went away by itself at one point, but the issue returned in December. My guess is it's a software issue.

Hi!I have a Thinkpad yoga 20CDCTO1WW with windows 8.1.My problem is that the battery is stuck on 33%. When I click the battery icon it says "33% available (plugged in, charging)" but if I disconnect the charger the yoga dies instantly and I cant start it until I reconnect the charger. Please advice/Arvid88on edit:I don't think it is connected but I often get BSOD dpc_watchdog_violation

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga battery problem

I have the exact same problem, battery health indicator was around 85 percent, but suddenly battery stopped working, saying "plugged in not charging" and a warning message which says battery is dead because of normal wear (after less than 9 months of usage), contacted Lenovo support, no help on phone. If I remove the charger laptop power stops, and it seems battery stopped functioning and is stuck at 47 percent. It should be a defect in battery chip or PM module (or even a software problem!), but I couldn't find any useful information.Could you solve your problem?

Hello everyone, I just got a new TP Yoga S1 from Amazon. What's everyone resolution or display sizing option (medium 125%, large 150%)? Coming from a 1366x768 15 inch laptop, everything in this laptop display is so tiny. Any recommendations? Did anyone change their resolution to something smaller like 1440x1050 or 1366x768? Also how's the battery going? I notice that my battery would show 4 hours at 85% and then 5 hours at 80%. Anyone have this issue with not precise hours?

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga 12.5 Display and Battery

Your ideal size will depend on your eyesight and how much effective workspace resolution you want. Also on how scaling compatible your workflow programs are.Battery life is dependent on your workload, and given that it can't predict the future, it can only guess based on what you're doing at the current time and estimate the time remaining.Perhaps you were using something more power hungry at 85% than 80%, and it adjusted its prediction accordingly.

I just purchased a ThinkPad Yoga 14 and I noticed that the battery life is projected to be about 4 hours on a full charge. I thought that this would be much longer, perhaps twice that. Has anyone noticed this? Should the battery life be about 8 hours or is 4 hours or typical?

About a month ago, I finally received my Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 460 and I couldn't be happier with it. Every was running great so far, however monday last week, the device suddenly went into standby mode out of the blue. After I started it again, the battery had dropped from around 70% to 3% and soon it died completely.I recharged it, laptop was running fine again. Around 2h later, the same problem again. Standby, battery drop, dead. I tried everything software-wise, from driver to OS updates to battery recalibration, however with no luck. Additionally, the 'Lenovo Settings' app tells me that 'battery recharge has been deactivated due to high temperature' and 'the capacity is only like 2,93% percent'.Now, to me the temperature of the laptop feels pretty average and doesn't really increase while in use. Also, I opened it up and checked air flows and such, but everything looks fine.Could the battery be dead? Anyone experiencing the same issues?

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga 460 - Battery dead?

artganify,I have had similar problems as well. My laptop has become a desktop for the moment being. One night it was taking ages to charge (about 5 hours to charge to 30%). I then got it up to 66% and thats it. I called up Lenovo support and told them that my laptop wasn't charging and was flickering between "No Battery Detected" then "Charging". I was told to run the battery down completely which I did. Ever since then the battery hasn't charge past 3%  I called up Lenovo once again and they said that they would send me an external battery to test if the internal battery is faulty (I'm pretty certain its only the battery). So fingers crossed. So to reply to your question, I am experiencing similar issues.

Hi! I have just bought a Thinkpad Yoga (core i5, 8GB, 500Gb HDD). Battery life is around 3 hours using only internet an office applications. Every review said it would be more than 5 hours. What can be the problem? Thanks in advance!

Answer:Battery problem on Thinkpad Yoga

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Capacity of a battery declines as the battery ages, with the number of charge cycles and time at high temperature. Under average usage patterns your battery maintains approximately 70% of its power capacity after the first year of operation.

If you feel that the battery backup is too low, try doing a battery firmware upgrade and BIOS update. Check the Lenovo support site for any battery firmware updates for your particular model. Most power is used by the display.

Try to set up a power saving scheme with only necessary things powered on and lower the display brightness to improve the battery backup.

Refer this knowledgebase which explains some tips to improve battery backup.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Mithun.

Hello everyone,About a week ago, I got an error message saying something like the battery cannot be identified (I'm trying to find a screenshot somewhere).Since that moment, the battery does not charge when the AC adapter is plugged in, while the battery is nearly full (>90%).I found this thread and it fits exactly to my problem: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Thinkpad-Yoga-14-battery-quot-plugged-i... I understand that this behaviour might be a feature to improve the batteries lifespan, but I really want to get rid of that. The Lenovo Settings App offers the option to manually set the charging-threshold to 40-100%, but setting it to 100% or turning the feature off does not change anything.Another side effect is that the charging process does not begin until about 1 minute after the AC adapter is plugged in.I didn't knowingly change anything on the software configuration when the problem appeared, the said error message appeared while watching YouTube-videos. lg, couka

a short & simple question:  can the battery be charged by plugging a USB charger into one of the USB ports?  (this is not covered by the manual, but I think I recollect reading a comment in a review that this could be done)   or is the only means of charging by using the supplied power pack?

Hello I recently bout a thinkpad yoga all the way from america, so it came with an american charger, to which I luckily had a converter. It works, but it takes FOR EVER to charge compared to how long it takes to run out of charge.. this is without a doubt going to be a problem, is there any chance that the converter may be slow? or is it possible that buying a european version of the charger might help if they exist? much thanks, please help me Im clueless... thanks

Answer:Thinkpad yoga battery life

I have not seen a laptop made in the last 10 years, maybe much more, that can't run off any of the major power formats (110 to 240V 50 to 60hz) in the world and they should be able to do so with no loss of charging capacity.  This is certainly true of my thinkpad. There is no converter required, only a plug adapter which simply conects metal pins of different shapes together.   If you are just using a plug adapter, as you should be, then the voltage difference is not your problem.

What sort of battery life are you guys getting with this laptop? (The one with usb 3.0 ports and 6000 series intel).  Of the countless issues I've had with this (mostly driver related), battery issue is one of the biggest. I can't seem to get more than 5 hours normal usage. I've got the screen at 50%, keyboard backlight at its lowest setting, and some music in the background. CPU usage averages below 20%. I've got several tests I tried:1. I have chrome minimized with ~8 tabs (nothing playing or anything), and excel minimized. The only large process was Google Drive downloading. I wasn't doing anything on the computer. That gives me 3 hours, 49 minutes of battery life (94% remaining).  2. Browsing a forum while listening to music in youtube. (Chrome eating so much ram Windows is at 6gb used just with 10 tabs open.). 3 hours, 32 minutes battery life (90% remaining) 3. A stress test, Aida64 running a CPU stress test. 2 hours 27 minutes battery life (87 remaining).  Here's what's even more interesting. Battery wear level. Based on Window's battery report, I lost over 9% battery life wear since when I got the laptop (January this year I think). So 6 months. Here's the catch, it's more like 5 months because those first 5 months is when I used the laptop for college. After the semester ended, I pretty much stopped using it. This means that if I used the laptop frequently like in college(which wasn't even that often), I would wear the battery 20% ev... Read more

Answer:Thinkpad x1 Yoga 1st gen(?) battery life

Hi, the below is a copy-and-paste of a reply I posted in another thread.  That thread was discussing Gen 2 battery run-time (not "life") and I had done a little testing on my Gen 1 for reference:

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/questions-about-TP-Yoga-series/m-p/3704325

Not sure how directly this applies to the Gen 2 , but I'm doing some testing with the Gen 1 X1Y this evening.

Letting things run long enough for the battery gauge to stabilize:

Thunderbird: reading email: 9-10 hours, maybe a little more.

FireFox: poking around the forums:  6-9 hours depending on content and how fast I'm navigating pages.

Skype video session:  maybe 4 hours.

This is an i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD with the 2560x1440 non-OLED display @ ~ half brightness - which is plenty bright for evening surfing.

In my use case(es) it's an 8-10 hour machine for the most part.  I don't use Chrome so I can't speak to that.

FWIW,
Z.

My Yoga 3 Pro-1370 does not detect its own battery. At the lower right of the screen, it appears the battery sign empty and crossed by a diagonal line. When I click on it the message "The battery is not used" appears.  OneKey Optimizer says: "No battery is present". Please see two images attached. Got the laptop and the battery inspected by a professional but he couldn't fix the problem. He himself updated the Bios, Windows, cleaned the inside and the fan of the computer but the problem is still there. Please provide me with a solution ASAP.

Hello all, Please forgive if this has been posted. I couldn't find an answer: I purchased a replacement for my battery, but on installation it wouldn't charge. I tried disabling AC and battery in device manager. I tried complete shut down and reboot. Couldn't get the new battery to be recognized. The old battery still works a bit, so I'm not in serious trouble. but with the battery going on a few years old, I wanted to replace before it left me stranded. Is there something that must be done to tell the system (Win 8.1 x 64 pro) to recognize that the battery is new, and to reflash the battery firmware and reset the driver? Simply replacing the battery didn't quite get the job done. Thank you for any response.

Hi everyone, I recently noticed that the battery life of my Thinkpad Yoga 12 has drastically decreased since I bought it two months ago. In the beginning I could get 5 hours of battery easily. Now it's down to 2 hours - in normal office mode. The long battery life was one of the reasons why I bought it initially - and now it's failing me. I don't recall having done anything to the battery, hence I am totally clueless as to why the battery life has decreased so severely. Any suggestions and help highly appreciated. Thank you,Kai

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga 12: Battery life down down to 2 hrs after just 2 months

Find or install the app Lenovo Settings.

Go to Lenovo Settings > Home > Power > click on "Show details"

You will see there the Full Charge Capacity and the Designed Capacity. Tell me these numbers. If these numbers differ a lot your battery was corrupted due to aging related stress or other problems.

You can also try Lenovo Settings > Home > Power > Battery Gauge Reset to try to reset the way your computer measures full capacity, but if you experience 2 hours only this wont help.

I have recently purchased an S1, which is now having an issue that I can't seem to resolve on my own. The laptop works (almost) perfectly on A/C, but doesn't charge the battery. I noticed yesterday the battery was low (which was surprising, because I had only recently unplugged it) - so I plugged it in to charge. At which point, the battery icon in the system tray stated "8% (plugged in, not charging).I've tried the following to fix this: 1) Leaving it plugged in overnight completely off. 2) Running the battery calibration (fails w/ unexpected error). 3) Tried turning off battery optimization (Option is removed in newer version of drivers, so NA to my issue). 4) Tried reinstalling the power management drivers anyway (even though I already had the newer version). 5) Holding down the power button for 30 seconds, both plugged in and not plugged in (suggestion from forum). 6) Holding down the reset button (pin reset on the mobo) for 30 seconds, both plugged in and not plugged in. 7) Charging from BIOS. 8) Letting the battery run down to 0% in BIOS, then rebooting on A/C (another forum suggestion).  Now I'm just at 0% plugged in and not charging. Previously I said the computer almost worked perfectly, the almost is that the CPU is stuck at ~800mhz, even with all power management turned off (including Speedstep in BIOS) and the power profile set to high performance. Can anyone think of anything else I can try before I give up an... Answer:Thinkpad Yoga S1 Runs off AC but won't charge the battery

CPU getting stuck at 800MHz is a shared symptom with not having the battery attached on AC.Might be the relevant circuitry on the motherboard/battery. Could try either testing the battery in a different machine or a different battery in the same machine.

Hope someone have seen this and found a way of fixing it. The Thinkpad Yoga 14 was bought new from BestBuy, with Windows 10 already installed. A few days ago, after I finally allow Windows 10 to install the "update", the battery started to "disappear", ie the power icon has a "X" and with a message "No battery is detected". The battery driver has a June 21 date, a months after the purchase. So this must be the driver brought in by the Win10 update (note: this is not from Win7, Win8 etc to Win10, but an update of Win10). Removing and reinstalling battery driver did not fix the problem as the same driver is installed again. I also cannot roll back the version as Windows does not show any previous version. I also cannot "restore" as Windows does not actually restore the system: Windows shows the update still installed even after it was "restored" to a state prior to the "update". I also tried to install Lenovo's new power management driver. No help either.  Any suggestions, other than to returning the computer? This is for my son. He'll start his school right now! Thanks!

Have you tried resetting the battery? Power off the laptop. Underneath the laptop, located in the middle is a small pin hole. Using a straightened paper clip or sim card remover pin, press the pin hole. Power on the laptop and check again. As the battery is integrated, there is no physical way to take it out and put it back in. The pin hole (reset) mirrors this process.

Hello, My recently bought Thinkpad Yoga 14 recently had this strange problem going on. The battery goes down, even when the AC cord is plugged in. The battery message says "plugged in, not charging". Answer:Thinkpad Yoga 14 battery "plugged in, not charging...

It isn't a problem.  The battery has a nearly full charge, so the charging turns off so as not to "cook" the battery.  If you unplug the battery and let it run down a while, then plug it in, it will charge.  I tend not to charge mine until it gets under about 70%.  A Lithium battery slowly degrades after a certain number of charges.

Hello, Just got an S1 Yoga last week, after having read that one of the best things was its battery life of around 8hours, and I just noticed today, when using it in Energy saving mode mainly for surfing the net, that it's displaying 48% of battery available (around 2 more hours of usage) after 1.5hours or so? ie, that'd be less than 4h just for surfing on Energy saving mode... Is this normal? or could the battery be faulty? Any idea how to determine whether it's faulty or not with Lenovo warranty team? Many thanks!

I'll keep this brief and to the point.

Out of no where this morning, my computer's battery just stopped working and is all of a sudden in "poor" condition, yet it is charged at 100%. This literally happened out of nowhere.

I could go on for a couple paragraphs on how upset I'm becoming with Lenovo, but I'll just say this: I've been researching to wits end looking for a solution and trying to get help from Lenovo and I cannot. Every Lenovo link that is recommended to go to is either defunct or just leads me on a wild goose chase back to where I started. The phone customer service has been awful and when I finally got "transferred" to technical support, well, let's just say I'm still on hold an hour and 31 minutes later.
What needs to happen here? Because right now I'm thinking of just backing up my files, buying an Acer, and cutting ties with Lenovo all together. It's so disheartening to think about. I love this Think Pad Yoga.

P.S. - My laptop's under a year old and is still under warranty (until March 5th).

Which model do you have? ThinkPad Yoga 12 2015? Or 2014 model? If it's just new it's possible that it's still updating and indexing files and email, which will drain the battery pretty quick.

Hello, community.  So far I have been unable to determine whether or not the ThinkPad Yoga comes with a "rapid recharge" capability as the X1/X1 Carbon Touch does (provided one uses a 90W adapte)r.  This feature does not appear to be listed in any of the documentation I have seen so far on the Yoga, and the ordering site only lists a 45W adapter, but I am looking for confirmation one way or the other.  Thank you.

My lenovo Yoga Thinkpad, Win 7, 32-bit, has a battery that is stuck at the 2% remaining mark.
I have it plugged in and the Power Manager states that it is charging and that the battery is in "GOOD" condition.
Power Use is set to "High Energy Savings".
The current BIOS is GQET38WW (1.18).
Based on other posts regarding batteries that won't charge, I tried updating the BIOS but I get this error: "Your battery needs to be charged to avoid accidental shut down during the BIOS update."
The laptop will not power on at all without the AC adapter plugged in and immediately shuts down if the plug is removed.

Any suggestions?
I can replace the system board, but I want to make sure I haven't exhausted all possible fixes before doing that.

Thanks!

I just ordered a TP yoga s3 14 yesterday (from Sweden) and after reading this forum I'm not sure anymore if that was a good idea.  So my questions are: Did anyone already receive this updated version of the laptop (it was avaliable in europe May 2015)? How long did it take to get the laptop (some people are saying 2 months and that scares me)? Did battery problems get fixed? Please help me, I can still cancel my order but I really like this laptop and want to be sure that it is still bugged.

Answer:ThinkPad yoga S3 14 (Europe) - are battery problems fixed?

Hi Grinch, How did you get on with the laptop? We have just received 100 of these and I'm in the process of building the image and driver sets. Any heads up or any issues you may have come across would be great to know so I can look at a fix before we roill these out in 2 weeks.Best, Edd

Hi guys, Is there a tool to control how the battery charges in the Yoga S1?  Something similar to what they explain there:http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-Edge-Knowledge-Base/How-to-perform-a-battery-gauge-reset/ta-p/6... Thanks

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga S1 - Power management - Battery maintenance

Hi mickael28, I currently have a problem with my power managment driver, so I cannot confirm it, but if I'm not wrong, I noticed that in the Lenovo settings app, in the Power section, you can make the computer verify the battery gauge. Hope it will help you.

I snagged a ThinkPad Yoga 11 20D9 from Woot about four months ago and love almost everything about it.  So much so, that I encouraged a co-worker who was replacing her Acer netbook to choose the same model.  I began to notice that my battery life wasn't lasting.  It would drain 30% to 40% overnight even when I turned it off.  It would barely make it a full day if left it in suspend.  I asked my co-worker if she saw the same issue, and she even tested suspend for 4-hours, and the battery dropped negligably. I then began to think where I might have deviated, and on my work-issued ThinkPad x230t, I leave USB device-charging enabled in the BIOS.  I had enabled that feature on the 11e, but also enabled the unplugged-AC mode on the 11e.   It turns out that on the ThinkPad Yoga 11e I own (20D9), the circuit for the unplugged-AC USB device-charging feature will drain your battery even when your 11e is fully turned off and absent anything plugged in to the USB ports. I opted to use a "sledgehammer" approach and reset the BIOS to factory defaults, and then re-enabled USB device charging when plugged in to AC (only). If you see diminished battery life and you "ticked" that setting in the BIOS, it might be worth a try to disable the unplugged AC mode for USB device charging.

Hi, I use my thinkpad to teach. I have downloaded PDF annotator as I need to annotate PDFs while teaching (class exercises etc). However, when I connect to certain projectors (with HDMI connection on the laptop) with PDF Annotator open , the program first of all slows up and then bluescreen crashes. I cannot workout whether it is the Annotator software causing the computer to crash or the HDMI connection to the projector. However, while working on PDF annotator without connecting to a projector it seems to work fine. I would be really grateful if anyone has encountered this problem and knows a way to overcome it! Many thanks  Des

Answer:LeNovo Thinkpad S1 YOGA

Will your yoga crash if you connect it on projector and will not be using the software? it could be problem with driver (graphic, chipset etc.) Do I understand well that it will crash with BSOD (Blue screen of death)? If yes, can you read the message which it will show on your screen? If you will be able  to post that message, it will be much easier to tell, where could be problem

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 14" or 15" ?

The Yoga 15 certainly does not have an active pen, this is old information that's not true.  Not sure about the 14.

HOLA.

I bought a 1 terrabyte SSD drive for an incredible price on Best Buy's deal of the day.   I'm wanting to put it into my Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 4 in 1 laptop/tablet. When I look at the back, I don't see openings for specific things - like battery or hard drive. Do I have to take the entire back off?  How hard is it to install a new drive?  This drive is 3 times the capacity of the one in it. Can I make a backup disk myself for the stuff I need to reinstall Windows 10? HELP!

Lenovo has videos on how to take apart each of their laptops. This is for the ThinkPad Yoga 14. If this isn't your model, just reply and I'll send you the correct link: https://www.lenovoservicetraining.com/showcase?sid=540&key=TGVuZw==

Hi I just got my thinkpad yoga 14 yesterday and I was able to use it for about an hour or so then I shut it down.  I tried putting it on later but it refuses to come on. If I connect the AC adapter, the red thinkpad light would blink four times and if I press the power button, the red light and the keyboard lights comes on and good of almost immediately.  I've just got this for a few hours and this problem is really frustrating. Is there a quick fix without returning.  I bought the laptop from Lenovo US and I'm in Nigeria, I feel returning it would take time which I don't have. I need the laptop for work.  I've tried the reset hole, I've also tried removing the battery and pressing the power button multiple times.

Answer:Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 14 Won't Come On

Hi janonymousone.

Can you please share the full model number of your Thinkpad Yoga 14?

Is this problem, that you can turn on the machine, comming from time to time? Is the machine operable, but sometimes when you shut it down does not turn on? Or is it complete not working right now?

If it boot and works for time to time, I will check any BIOS firmware update for the computer just in case. I would also check that if it is getting if it is getting hot more than usual.

If it complete useless right not and if you have changed the battery, pressed the reset hole button and it still does not turn on, it seems that you need to send it to the repair center to me.  For what I can see there is a Nigeria phone on the "Contact Us" page on the support site. Call them to see what options do they give you.

Regards
