Yoga 710-15IKB Ghost Touches

Question: Yoga 710-15IKB Ghost Touches

So, I too am reporting the ghost touch issue with my Lenovo laptop. This is on the Yoga 710-15IKB model. Same exact issue that others are reporting on the 700, 710, and 900 models. I have uninstalled/reinstalled ALL drivers found for this model, updated drivers via Microsoft, have the BIOS update, made countless changes to the touchpad to see if it is the issue. But, NONE of those things have worked. The issue appears to happen randomly after waking up from sleep. Usually within a few minutes after wake. I can do NOTHING to stop the issue once it starts other than to hard reset the power button, then wait a few seconds and restart. Once I've done that, the issue is resolved until... whenever it randomly wants to do it again... usually the next day. Lenovo... there has to be a solution to this! You resolved it with a firmware upgrade on the older 700 model. Can you work through the issue and get us a solution? And, please, don't say to send the unit in for repair. The issue clearly is a firmware issue.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Having issues with constant ghost touches on touchscreen. Have tried checking for updates, uninstalling/reinstalling driver. Ended up disabling driver. Tried re-enabling after a bunch of updates and there are so many ghost touches that it took over a minute to click the "disable" button and make it stop. Have seen previous models have had luck with firmware updates. Anything like that available for the 720?

I have major problems with my Yoga 2 having ghost touches. They are about 3 inches from the left side of the screen toward the top. It is impossible to recalibrate the screen because of the phantom touches. The display is not an LG screen. Anybody having the problem or have a fix other than turning the touchscreen off?

It appears that you will need a firmware update, rather than a driver update.

Recently I have been experiencing erratic behaviour with my touchscreen. Randomly the cursor would move to the top right corner due to a ghost touch on the screen. Any suggestions on how to fix this or is this an RMA issue?

Have a problem with what might be ghost touches on the touch screen. When playing fullscreen movies it sometimes randomly pauses and/or resumes as if someone touched the screen (or pressed space). Not always, just sometimes. I have found no pattern. Not tied to a specific application as far as I can tell. Also, once earlier today, the display went bananas with crazy ghost touches everywhere all over the screen when i switched to tablet mode. The keyboard had stopped working as well, and I was forced to reboot for it to stop clicking everywhere. Video of how it was like:  https://youtu.be/kkgf48ymeJs I look around and see lots of people having similar problems, but no answers as to what the hell is going on with the yoga touch displays. Anyone know? Model (i think): 80QD0042MX Monitor hardware id: MONITOR\LGD047ATouchscreen hardware ids: HID\VID_04F3&PID_206F&REV_1112&Col01HID\VID_04F3&PID_206F&Col01HID\VID_04F3&UP:000D_U:0004HID_DEVICE_UP:000D_U:0004HID_DEVICE All drivers appear to be up to date. Edit:  Since this was an LG panel, I have now attempted to run the firmware update from https://support.lenovo.com/no/nn/documents/SF15-I0024Perhaps it will make a difference. Will have to wait a bit to find out as I'm not able to trigger the ghost touches at will.

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 700 (14), ghost touches

Genienamedaki,

It has been confirmed the solution you referenced for ghost touches on the Yoga 3 14 will also resolve ghost touches experienced on Yoga 700 14 laptops. Lenovo is in the process of publishing the LCD firmware update specifically for Yoga 700 14.

I will post again when the update becomes available for Yoga 700 14.

EDIT: Moved discussion from TP Yoga to Lenovo Yoga category.

Thank you,

Ghost Touches - I see phisical touches on the screen when I am not touching it. It looks very similar to what you see in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ooSJdcRqyo It mostly occures when the laptop resumes from sleep or extended use. This makes the laptop unusabble and I have to hard reset to get it working properly again.  I have contacted Lenovo 3 times (Every time they have been very friendly and helpful. They also call me imedietly)Call 1 - I let them remote into the laptop. They uinstalled and re-installed some drivers and asked me to try it out. The issues were still there within a day. Call 2 - I reported the issue is still there. They remoted back in. Tried an update on the panel that did not apply. They informed me that the panel was defective and I would need to send it in. They asked me to carry it into my local Best Buy Geek Squad. They sent it to Kentucky for repairs. (I updated the bios, drivers, and reset the device) Geek Squad said that there was nothing wrong and that they updated the bios, drivers, and factory reset (Thats not ture). They sent back the device. (Lenvo has been great. Best Buy is a company I hope I never have to deal with in the future) Call 3 - I tell them that nothing has changed. They are now sending me a box to send the device back to the same exact facility in Kentucky...  Has anyone else expirienced this issue with the Yoga 900? Searching Google only brings up threads for oth... Read more

Hello - I haven't had this computer a week yet and I'm having issues with what I seen posts on for Ghost Touches.  If I leave the laptop idle for a while I can turn around or walk past it to see the screen going crazy.  Like someone is using the touch screen.  If IE is maximized, it is flipping through my favorite bar items, if it is minimized I see the white touch marks on the screen.  I do not know how to fix this.  I have seen other posts for updating but the Monitor is Generic PnP Monitor for the value and not LG.  Has anyone seen this before and can they help me?  I do not want to pay $99 for support.  Thanks!

I have a month old yoga 900 and the ghost touches on the screen drive me insane.  It doesn't happen all the time but some days it'll just spaz out like crazy and ruin all my work.  I have seen in the big post there are a bunch of people complaining of the same problem with their 900's, as well as mentions in other review threads.  The 900 seems to have an LG screen as well, but the firmware update fix for the yoga3 and 700 does not run on the yoga900.  It's linked below:https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/SF15-I0024 I tried to open a support case today but all they could come up with is send it in and maybe we'll replace the screen while i'm without it for ~2 weeks.  Seems unlikely that will fix the issue and I don't really want to send it in and have to give them all my passwords so they can login and test.  The firmware update worked for the other models, hopefully if they see it's an issue here as well a firmware update will get released for our models. The hardware id shown in the properties of the screen is: MONITOR\LGD04B4   which seems like it's an LG and probably similarly effected. Anyone else?

BIOS frimwork update, change in operating system. Many changes in bios. I also noticed that this problem occurs during windows installation. When I touches sccren it lose touchs. I love this machine overall but this problem is giving me tention. Any solution....

HiCan you please post the full model number of your Thinkpad Yoga 14? There had been some discussion about similar issues on this forums, but there is now final word about it yet. There is only one hint about updating to the latest Synaptics driver from Lenovo. (Synaptics UltraNav Driver (Version 18.1.27.30)  Fixed an issue that clickpad still has function after lid close.) But I don't know if your model is the one that use Synaptics mouse of Alps. There are also some other cases and maybe the following questions apply:- Do you use a Onelink dock port?- Do you use an external monitor?- Do you see the "Windows Touch" animation on your screen like when you press your finger when this happens? Regards

Hi everyone, I am experience a lot of problems with the touch screen on my Yoga 3 14. At least once a day I am getting ghost touches, i.e. it starts thinking that the screen is being pressed when it isn't. It closes windows, opens the keyboard and types, etc. I've noticed it mostly in laptop mode, but that may be because that's how I use it most of the time. For now I resort to putting it into hibernation or having to do a full reboot, and it fixes it for a while but always starts up again. It happens in different places on the screen, usually just one at a time but occasionally multiple touches. I've had the laptop for 2 months and have had the problem since week 1 or 2.  Is there any solution to this besides calling support and having them replace the screen/other parts?

Answer:Yoga 3 14 Ghost touches on touch screen

hi hucktopia,

Welcome to the Forums.

Your problem might be similar to this thread.

If you barely use the Touchscreen to navigate around, can you try these steps to disable the feature:
1. Press the Windows key? +R, type devmgmt.msc and press Enter (this should open the Device Manager).
2. On the Device Manager, click View > Show Hidden Devices and under Human Interface Devices section, uninstall the HID-compliant device touch screen (this is the driver that controls the touchscreen).
    - Sample image

3. When finished, reboot the system and observe.

If the above procedure works, you should be able to use the system normally but I recommend that you report the issue by contacting lenovo support.

Seems like the LG monitors had this problem, but I'm here to say that it's a problem for the Lenovo monitors as well. My touch screen will register multiple random touches over several seconds, opening apps, closing apps, switching windows, and making the computer unusable. The LG firmware patch doesn't apply, and this has been an intermittent problem (naturally I'm a few months out of warranty). Is there a fix? Restarting and cleaning the screen have had no effect. Oh god, just please make it stop! How do I disable touchscreen inputs (grrrrrrrrr!)?

So, My ThinkPad Yoga 14 (20DM) has this issue where randomly, there will be randomly screen presses across the screen. This will usually click some link I didn't want to, so it disrupts my workflow. I don't have a precise  way to replicate it, but it feels like maybe it's related to when the laptop is hot? I  don't know. Anyway, in practice, this effect looks just like an issue that occurred for Yoga 3 14s (see here: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Yoga-3-14-inch-Touch-Screen-Issues/m-p/214... and https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/SF15-I0024 )UNFORTUNATELY, the fix for that laptop model is designed for LG screen panels. Since the ThinkPad Yoga 14 doesn't have one of these panels, the fix will not run for this laptop. Is there a similar fix for this laptop?

Answer:Ghost screen touches on ThinkPad S3 Yoga 14

Hi I have a Thinkpad TP 14 - 20DM008UUS  and I didn't experience that issue. Can you share your full model number and which Windows version are you using? Just my thoughts... When you said " randomly screen presses across the screen" do you think it cames from the touchscreen? Did you see some "screen animation" like the circle that Windows produce when you touch the screen, or the cursor moving when your issue happens? Maybe it can give you hints on where is the problem. Do you think it can be the Touchpad that when you move your fingers or when you have your palm over it? Or is happens  when you are typing? Since I'm a driver freak, I always try to stay up to date with the firmware and drivers for the machine. If you want to you can also try to update the drivers with Lenovo System Update first. Regartds

Hi Everyone, A few days after I received my TPY 15 with Windows 10, it began to register random ghost touches which close and open windows, pause videos and such.  It typically happens when I power up the computer (startup, coming back from sleep/hibernation), I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem and if there's a solution.

Hello, I just received an X1 Yoga 2nd Gen (2017) with monitor "Flexview Display 1920x1080", which is having constant "ghost touches" unless I disable the "HID compliant touch screen" in Windows Device Manager. The ghost touching happens constantly, rendering the device useless while the touchscreen is enabled. It is also focused on one specific area of the screen. There were no problems the first day, the problem seemed to start after I converted the machine into tablet mode and wrote notes for 10 mins using Windows Sketchbook and the included pen. I'm running Windows 10, basically just out of the box after going through a few rounds of automatic system updates.I have the most current driver of the Wintab Driver for Wacom Pen 7.3.4.33. I've seen this thread for the Yoga 3 which has reported a similar issue: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/forums/v3_1/forumtopicpage/board-id/ll06_en/thread-id/26944/page/9 The problem goes away COMPLETELY if I disable the touchscreen and returns if I re-enable it.

Hi everyone, This is my first time here and I'm a little desperate. I bought this computer almost three years ago, and it was working fine until 6 months ago, the screen was getting auto-touched (ghost touches) when no external input was present. Of course, this makes my laptop crazy. I've tried updating the monitor (LG) like it's suggested here: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-3-1470/documents/ht1...But apparently my "LG panel is not at risk and does not require this download" I've currently disabled the touch screen, but the main reason I bought this laptop was because it had a touchscreen. Now there's really no point in making my laptop "do yoga"  Does anyone know any solution for this? thanks!

Many users have written about problems with ghost touches occuring on touchscreens the majority being in the lower left hand corner of the screen. Suggested fixes include removing "fast startup" option and reinstalling firmware. Has HP published a proper fix for these issues as they can render the machines virtually useless in some cases. Many thanks

Answer:Ghost touches on touchscreens

If updating the BIOS and graphics drivers apart from the other suggestions has not helped, I would suggest taking your PC in for service as there may be a something else that may be causing ghost touch to register on the touchscreen of the PC.

Hi all, Couple of days ago I bought a new Thinkpad t440. The problem I am experiencing are the "ghost touches" on the screen that occur randomly. It looks as if suddenly someone starts touching the screen very quickly (many touches simultaneosly) and It stops after couple of seconds.  I haven't been touching the screen at all for 2 days and the ghost touching doesn't happen, but as soon as I touch the screen the issue returns. I have seen people talking about similar issues on the internet, but from these I couldn't figure out what is the solution. Does anyone know what the problem could be and how it can be solved?

Hi everyone, I don't know if anyone else is having this issue, but sometimes my screen on my less than 3 month old hp pavilion x360 has major ghost touches. Its like someone is touching screen but im not touching it. It touches all over; exiting out of programs i have open, zooming in and out, clicking random things. I don't know what to do about it. I've tried cleaning the screen multiple times and it still happens. I barely had this computer for 3 months and i haven't done anything but light tasks on it and college work. I haven't dropped it, had it around water, or anything that would cause this to happen. Maybe it is a problem caused by an update, because it only recently started doing this within the last 3 weeks. I have already factory reset it and nothing seemed to change, it still has ghost touches. Any advice or help please?

I've seen related posts, though my problem seems to be unique. Basically, the screen/digitizer works perfectly 90% of the time.  About 1 in 10 times I e.g. resume from sleep/hibernation, I get myriad ghost touches all across the screen, sometimes 2-3 touches per second. The behavior persists until I shutdown or put the computer to sleep. When I resume the computer from sleep, the issue is resolved. I'm running Windows 10, have reinstalled the relevant driver, and have updated the BIOS.

I just got this laptop a few months ago back in August and after about a month of using it, it started ghost touching.  I'll be in class typing and all of a sudden the screen shows multiple touches on it.  It'll open folders, start programs, etc.  I don't even need to be using the laptop either.  When I'm just listening to lecture and not even touching the laptop, it'll still show touches all over. For now I turned off the touch screen feature, but I bought this laptop specifically because of the touch screen.  Any help would be awesome!

I have a Lenovo Edge 2 that has been great for 10 months.  PROBLEM:  2 days ago, the screen pointer (arrow) began appearing in the lower left hand corner, jumpiong around, and iinterfering with the ability to use the mouse.TEMPORARY FIX:  I found that if I push hard anywhere on the screen, it seemed to "freeze" the "jumpy pointer", and I could use the mouse.  After looking into several things, I found that I could eliminate the problem by disabling the touchscreen (by going into Device Manager, and selecting the touchscreen, then disable)QUESTION:  Does anyone know if this is a software or hardware issue, and how to fix?  I doubt hardware, because I am careful with my PC, and rarely use the touchscreen, and keep it clean (gentle, barely damp cloth only).

So I have a Lumia 1520. And all the time it seems like I'm playing a game, or typing, or just on the home screen when the screen seems to be trapped tapped at random places also meaning that the 3 hardware keys at the bottom of the phone don't respond either. Only way to fix it is to lock the phone and then unlock it but then the ghost touches could come back at any minute. Heck even typing this in on my phone is proving to be hell! My question is, is this a hardware issue or something that will be fixed with the Lumia cyan update (and is therefore a known issue). Any help would be appreciated as I just got this phone a couple of days back. So it would probably be easy to fix it under warranty.

I've owned an ENVY 27-p000na for the past year with no issues, but recently I've started to observe ghost touches. This problem has got worse to the point where the PC is not useable unless I disable the touch screen via device manager. But even this is becoming difficult as I have very intermittent control of the mouse. The ghost touches tend to be in the top right hand section of the screen, and often on one specific point. I've thoroughly cleaned the screen. A driver check says the latest version is installed, and a Windows diagnostic check does not highlight any issues. Does anyone have a solution to the ghost touches issue?

Hi everybody, Just recently I started having issues with the touch screen on my Edge 15 I bought in August this year. Doing some research I've found that some Yoga 3 models have the same issue and that it is related to LG panels. There's even a fix for it  (called updatefwedidapp_x64.exe), which doesn't work in my laptop. Mine is an LG panel too. Do anyone know if there's a fix for the Edge 15? I didn't do any software/hardware change. I bought this laptop while I was on vacation. It's under warranty, but not in my country, so that's out of the conversation. So frustrated with it.

I am getting ghost touches all over my touchscreen, plus the mouse barely works and the keyboard doesn't work at all when the ghost touches are present.  I am running on Windows 10 and have owned this laptop since May of 2014 (purchased new directly from Lenovo.com). This issue is getting worse and worse as time goes on.  Even when I disable the touchscreen capability (via Device Manager/Human Interface Devices) it is  not permanently disabled and it just comes back on randomly, without me enabling it again. If you could tell me a way to permanently disable the touch screen feature, at least that would resolve the main problem for now. Obviously I'd love for my touch screen to work properly though. I've been having this problem for many months now, though in the last month or two it's gotten a lot worse and a lot more frequent (at least once if not multiple times a day).  I am at my wit's end. Thank you.

When resuming from sleep or restarting, the Windows 10 login screen shows many, rapid ghost touches along the edges of the screen.  I captured it in a video so you can see it here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNLq8UhaR1s Once I log in (using my fingerprint scanner), the touching stops, although a couple times it has continued for a second or so.  This happens whether or not the external screen is attached via the OneLink Pro Dock. I have updated to all the most recent drivers listed on the Web site, including latest BIOS. I am fully updated on WIndows 10 as well.  It ONLY happens on the login screen after sleep or restart.  My helpdesk guy here at work also spent some time uninstalling/reinstalling drivers to no avail.

Purchased in December, and patiently waiting  for update or offer to replace the defective screen, or touch pad driver that is consistently causing Ghost Touches above the "Ask me anything" box, taking over control in a studdering stammer way, usually occuring after one hour or more of use.  The only remedy is to shut down and reboot....which can occur at the worst possible times.  I need to take back to the Microsoft Store for a replacement if this cannot be fixed.   There has been a ton of complaints regarding this issue, with weak response from Support.   I am just glad I purchased the 2 year warranty. To recreate --plug in recharge chord, turn on and start working.  Leave the screen on and walk away for lunch, when you come back view the screen, see a fuzzy finger print about 1 inch above the Ask Me box....No error message, just not able to regain control of the mouse except to shut down using screen touch.  This has occurred during initial set up and continues for six months, but is hard to replicate at the MS store.I am  normally using LAN.

Hello,
As with everyone with these laptop models, I have the issue where a part of the screen becomes unusable and starts doing ghost touches.
I've isolated the issue to TWO particular devices and I've made a script to fix this issue everytime it happens.
THE PROBLEM STARTS when the touchpad and/or screen stops receiving power (at least 5 seconds), like for example when you close the lid, or when it goes into suspend mode. When powering it back again, the problem starts.
My partial solution evidences that this is A DRIVER ISSUE. Stopping and restarting the problematic devices fixes it.
To automate this process, here's the Windows batch script that I run everytime I resume power of my laptop. It requires Microsoft's DEVCON utility to run.
devcon disable *USB*0396*devcon disable *ACPI*DLL068E*devcon enable *USB*0396*devcon enable *ACPI*DLL068E*
I can provide more specific info if a Dell engineer/s gets the proper attention to this issue.
Thanks.

Hello, I have had my Lenovo Flex 4-1470 laptop for about half a year now, have always taken careful precaution when carrying it, etc. Recently, Upon touching the touchscreen on the right side and bottom of the screen, I am experiencing these "ghost" or "phantom" touches where I touch that part of the screen and it presses on a random part of the screen. The middle and left sides of the screen do not seem to be affected, however, the top of the screen seems to refuse to calibrate to my finger correctly despite calibrating the screen many times. I have updated the touchscreen driver to find that I already have the best and newest version so that cannot be my issue. I have seen that this was a common issue on the Yoga 3-14, and that there was a firmware fix to this... So far the only "fix" I have seen to this issue is disabling the touchscreen altogether, but I bought this laptop specifically for the touchscreen capabilities. I have not physically damaged the laptop, so I am curious on why this is happening.  Is there a firmware fix or something to that extent or will I have to send the laptop to Lenovo and get it repaired? Any Help would be appreciated --Kaitlyn

Answer:Lenovo Flex 4-1470 Auto touch/Ghost touches issue

Hi there, Kaitlyn         -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Ghost touches on the screen are most of the time caused by a faulty digitizer (this is the touch screen panel that enables touchscreen functionality) or the Touch panel module (LED panel w/ Touch).

Can you try the following?

Under theDevice Manager> Human Interface Devices, can you do a right click and disable on anything that says HID-compliant device (this is the driver that controls the touchscreen).

When finished, reboot the system and observe if you still get the same issue.

Update us how it goes.

I am a very frustrated and angry customer at the moment as i keep running into Road Block and unacceptable answers.  This issue is enough to cause me to never buy another Lenovo laptop or any laptop at Best Buy!I bought my computer in July and in September i noticed a key had popped off-  the "< ," key next to the M key.  I have used the key board only when i was setting up-  now at my office and at customers i set it in downward dog mode ;-) and use a blue tooth key board.    So it is not from use that it broke.   I took the laptop into BEST BUY and was told that the key was missing a metal part on the back so they could not fix it onsite-  i would have to send it in and be without my laptop for a week to 10 days - unacceptable -  this was a month or more ago. I searched on the LENOVO website and could not find a way to purchase a single or the entire set of Keys!  I am self employed as a software consultant.   My life is pretty busy and i finally decided today to bite the bullet and ask for a call from Lenovo support.  Again i am told the only way to fix this is to send my laptop in for a repair.  I asked to just be able to buy a KEY - i am told that well they do not sell individual keys - they would replace the entire keyboard!  So sell me the keyboard and or send me one an i will take into best buy to have them replace it while i wait.  They cannot do that.   I live... I too have been having this problem. I bought my yoga 2 13" laptop about 2 months ago and the phantom touches started about a month later. At first I thought maybe the screen was picking up the fingerprints left on my screen or that there was a lag in response when i would touch the screen and nothing would happen but after reading other posts I can see this is a much bigger problem. When it starts I can'tget control of anything and have to wait for it to eventually stop and then restart my computer.  I found that this makes things subside for a while but then it starts all over again with no rhyme or reason. The most annoying part is that it closes my open tabs on the browser and sometimes opens others that are saved on my favorite bar. I'm worried that one day I'll be in the process of writing a paper for school and it deletes it before I get control of the screen.  Had I known this was such a common issue I would have never bought this laptop. Here I thought I was making my life a little easier being able to bring in my laptop to class and take up as little space as possible but looks like I will not have the option of using the touch screen if this is not easily resolved.

Answer:Yoga 2 13 Phantom touches on touchscreen

I have a similar problem with my Yoga 3 14 (I7). It works from a fresh boot, but if it goes to sleep, or sometimes sits for a while even w/o the screen blanking, the touch scrren doesn't respond to touches, but does have 'phantom' touches. Turning off and back on fixes. I got the laptop about a month ago. This seems to be a driver issue to me.

Hi, My Yoga 700 is only 7Days Old from factory with Windows 10 If  I close the lid the Yoga goes into Sleep Mode. When I open the lid it wakes up and randomly I get Phantom touches on the screen. Sometime it's so bad it opens multiple apps or programs and I am un able to shudown or close the applications.I've tried recalbrating the screen and i've also tried deleting all the Human interfaces to see if reinstalling them would help. All the Windows 10 updates are current. I've switched the settings  to shutdown if I close the lid and am manually putting it to sleep as a temporary measure which seems to work at the moment... time will tell.  I am very frustrated and disappointed, this is a brand new computer. Is there a fix for this?

I recently bought a yoga pro 2 and notices that intermittently it stops registering touches and swipes on the left side of screen.  Some apps that have the back button, swiping from left to switch apps, and touching desktop apps on about a quarter inch side of the screen just dont' register.  It requres a restart.  It doesn't always happen though, just intermittently and I don't know the steps to reproduce it consistently at the moment.

When it is on battery power, everything works wonderfully, no issue whatsoever. When it is plugged in, if I touch anywhere on any screen (lock screen desktop, any app etc.) I can see the little white "ghost" touch where my finger touches but then it does it like 1000 random times in a straight vertical line from where my finger is. This makes it impossible to log in using the picture lock feature. The touchpad and keyboard both work when plugged in, just not the touch SCREEN.

I wonder if perhaps you charger is failing? It may be your charging voltage is not properly regulated or there is noise coming through from the wall outlet. I have seen issues like this on phones with the charger plugged in. Have you tried plugging into differnt wall outlets? Do you have access to a different charger?

Question: Yoga 720-15ikb

Hello, i am thinking of getting the laptop above, but I have a few concerns. 1) is the wireless card in it already an intel 8265ac card? Is not, can it be upgraded with a FRU 01AX704? I'm not sure if it's compatible with the bios whitelist on this machine and my googling skills haven't come back with much! 2) what make is the SSD in this machine? Is it PCIE-NVME based? It only says 256gb. Can hard drives be replaced for any model or does it have to be in the whitelist like wireless cards? I'm hoping it's a Samsung pro 960 256gb! 3) I've also heard it's hard to install windows from scratch on these machines due to the controller for the hard drive being set to RAID rather than AHCI/NVME, which means windows doesn't detect it upon installation. I've heard there's a bios out there now which allows AHCI to be selected from the bios so it makes it straight forward enough (a lot of linux users wanted this!) but Lenovo have said it may cause issues with performance if installing windows through this way? Is this just Lenovo covering their backs or is this a genuine concern? any clarification on the bottom point would be great. thanks!

I have always done this an never encoutered any issues on the numerous laptops I have owned and used in the past). When I do this on my newly axquired Lenovo Yoga 900 it causes the mouse pointer to lag momentarily. I have updated drivers (v19.0.17.57), I have turned off ALL Multi-Finger options (2-finger, 3-finger and 4-finger) and reduced Palm Tracking to the minimum. I just bought this machine and the display color is rather yucky and washed out. I did play with color calibration in the Windows 10 settings, and was able to match my existing monitor by turning red and green way down and then cranking up the saturation in Intel UHD 630 settings. The problem is, the screen now gives me headache because blue is turned up relative to red and green. So now I'm looking to see if I have the right color profile to begin with. The color profile associated with the monitor was "sRGB display profile with display hardware configuration set to.." Is this the right profile for this laptop? I did search and I couldn't find the color profile for this laptop. Microsoft site says I need to get the monitor driver, not the display/graphics driver, but I don't find that either. Does anybody know where I can find the downloadable color profile for this model?

Using both the physical and on screen keyboard I can't send this desired input. Driver reinstalls did nothing. The hardware is fine. I can even get (alt+fn+down) to work. This isn't a global hotkey issue as best I can tell either. Some reported issues included the Intel Graphics Control Panel intercepting these inputs, so I disabled its hotkey manager and the problem persists.

I started having a problem with my screen when I tried to install a program called Monosnap. At first my computer screen was completely white and I had a hard time seeing anything. I uninstalled the program and it got a little better. Virus scans said I didn't catch anything. I reset to my previous Windows back up point and it got a little better. It still had like a white film over the screen with like a halo of pure color around the edges. Then I reinstalled the display driver and that fixed the problem with the permanent white film over everything, except now it randomly flickers completely white, with verticle lines. I've included a picture.

I have Sketchup Pro 2017 installed on my Yoga 720 laptop at work.  On paper it seems like this computer should be more powerful than the machine its replacing, but its performance in Sketchup is really slow.  It makes the program really difficult to use because its freezing and lagging so much.  I've run a quick diagnostic on the machine and it passed.  I also have run Sketchup with the task manager window open and it seems to be using about 35-45% of the memory while its running.  Is it a graphics card issue?  My collegue ran one of the same files I've been working on and it worked fine and her machine is in theory less powerful.  She is using Windows 7 however.  Could it be an operating system issue?  Any other ideas?

On my brand new yoga 710, from time to time, the screen with start to do small shifts vertically.  Windows is up to date, went through and did intel specific driver scan, which came up with lenovo having a custom display driver set. Has anyone else experienced something similar to this.... this is my first touchscreen system I have ever dealt with, so I'm not sure how these custom drivers function.  It is about one pixel shift, which is not much, but enough to make me want to throw this thing out the window 4 days after buying.

I have come to my last resort, which feels like I have wasted money on this Yoga - It has taken me almost a year, I still don't have a clean event log and the only thing I have minimized is the locking up of the machine when the nvidea goes haywire.  Simple answer - on edge and explorer I force fed it the crappy Intel chip.  Now it's 'rev up' is limited.   I'm running Win10Pro 64bit. up to date on everything.  This situation has been since the first day I used this thing.  I can't trust it enough to use for work, so here it sits. just something to do nothing much with.   Is there a real fix for this that makes better sense than having a GPU that isn't used?

Hello, last thursday I got my brand new Lenovo laptop Yoga 710-15IKB. Everything went smoothly with the setup and the computer looked great was working fine. When I finished setting up some essential programs browser etc, and was watching a youtube video my laptop just froze, fan was running but the screen keyboard cursor frozen. I thought nothing of it and restarted my computer and nothing happened after that. So I thought I was free to enjoy my good looking device. But now after my third usage I closed my laptop and went out to run some errands I came back an hour later or so and tried to open my computer and keep on using it but to my surprise the screen stayed black. Completely black, no flickering or anything. So i tried to reboot it by holding the start button down for 10s giving the computer a minute or so to rest then turned it back on. Same thing happens Keyboard lights up for a second or two then the fans just keep running and the screen stays completely black. This is extremely frustrating since this is a brand new computer and I desperately need it for studying and work. Screen black, computer starts and runs I can hear the fans keyboard lights up at first but screen is completely black. I would appreciate a quick response Lenovo, I had so high hopes for my new laptop. Best regards, Elisabet.

Hi there,  My very new Lenovo Yoga 710 (15" IKB) laptop/two-in-one has been fantastic so far except in one regard. Whenever I play a game, the fan gets quite loud and the temperature shoots up. I'm not one hundred percent sure if this happened in the first few days but I have come to notice it far more recently. When playing a pretty standard game, such as World of Warcraft, the temp will shoot up to somewhere around 65 degrees celsius (sometimes up to 70) with the bottom getting quite hot, and the fans will become quite loud. Even a very low requirement game, like FIFA 15 (which is obviously 2 years old now), can cause the temp to reach about 60 degrees and the fans to get loud, and when downloading a driver from Nvidia I noticed that the temperature had again risen, this time to 52 degrees with the fans spinning loudly again. I had earlier had a display issue that I fixed by downloading display drivers from Lenovo's website. I'm not sure if there's any driver I could download to rectify this issue (I already updated BIOS from the download on Lenovo's website)?

Hello! In the past few days, my yoga laptop has been having this issue where if I unplug my headphones once, they won't work again till I reinstall my driver and restart my laptop.  However, once they are unplugged again I'm back at square one.  I've tried with three different set of headphones (different two earbuds and one normal over the ear type) and I have the same issue.I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Realtek High Definition Audio driver a lot of times in these past few days.  I've even tried installing it via redownloading the file from the lenovo support page and nothing seems to work.  Once the headphones are unplugged, only my speakers work.  It is like the laptop kind of recognizes that the headphones are plugged in, but will not play sound through them.I've also noticed that when I start playing music (while the music is still picking up my headphones) the music will start really quiet and then suddenly get VERY loud at random despite the volume number it is on.  Once it gets louder, it stays that way until the headphones are unplugged.  Then, I hear nothing once replugging them in.I'm not sure what to do and I hope I can get some help. Thanks!

If you get the white screen during POST but the display is fine on an external display then the cause if most likely the LVDS cable. Try to reseat or change this part and observe.

Hi, I have this problem, which I also had on a 710-15ISK before I replaced mine with this model due to cracked screen. Intermittently, while "computering", the keyboard will stop working as expected.Only a variety of keys will work, like some mode has been activated by an accidental key press.Like I said, this happened on my previous 710 as well. It's frustrating because I'm learning programming, and the issue doesn't resolve until I sleep the laptop and unsleep it, which makes me believe it isn't some key combination I'm hitting, but rather maybe a jam of the keyboard. The same keys stop working each time, and same for the keys that remain working. If I can if it happens again, I will write down each key working/not working, but until then, does anyone have some insight on this?

Last week I spilled drop of coffee+milk on my trackpad and it stopped working properly (I know you think I must have actually dropped a gallon but I asked my friend to come over and open my laptop with me and after we opened it, he couldn't see anything -- he was skeptical that I had dropped any liquid whatsoever, so, yeah, it was a drop of milk+coffee on the wrong place..). The pointer was behaving erraticatly and my friend and I, not tech savvy but rational ppl, figured that it must have short-circuited. So I went to ebay and order a replacemente part. The trackpad came with the keyboard + palmrest. The trackpad seemed to be a perfect match. The palmrest was a little bit different. My laptop has the fingerprint reader but the one I ordered didn't have. I thought it wouldn't make any difference since I only wanted the trackpad. The replacement arrived. I swapped the trackpad, made sure all cables were connected (there's actually only one but you got the point), closed my laptop, turned it on and... the trackpad was still not working.  Does anyone have any idea of what I should do next? I took a closer look on the letters and numbers I found on the trackpad and compared the original with the replacement and there's one or two numbers/letters that are different but they are otherwise identical. I can't make sense of why it didn't work and can't think of what to do next. I'd really appreciate some feedback. Thanks,

I have looked through all the documentation from Lenovo and on these forums and have not been able to determine which version of the HDMI spec (1.4 or 2.0) the micro-HDMI port supports. Although this laptop has a 4K display, I wouldn't necessarily expect that the micro HDMI port to be 2.0 but it would make since and would be a smart thing to do.

Two days ago, my internet was being slow, and I had the adapter reset as per usual through the WiFi troubleshooter. The adapter for the first time caused a BSOD when doing this. So I thought "Fine, its a one time thing", I didn't get the chance to get the error message but the cause involved the adapter, I know that much. When my laptop restarted, I noticed a nice little "x" on the speaker tray icon. Scrolling over it, it told me that "No Audio Output Device is Installed." Nothing I did would fix it, including the basic solutions across the internet such as uninstalling the drivers, etc. While looking at the drivers, not all of them were missing, only maybe one or two, definitely one in the Sound, video and Game Controllers area with the name (MEDIA) in it (that much I remember, I believe it was from NVIDIA too), along with one that was put into the "Other Drivers" area, or whatever it was called, by Intel but with a yellow exclamation mark on it and it related to audio. I got the problem to be fixed by doing a system restore back to the 10th, before some updates occurred.Last night, my keyboard was malfunctioning (not allowing me to backspace, only allowing me to type in certain areas, not allowing me to use the letter "C", and telling me to backspace by hitting "Alt + LeftArrow." (And this was occurring in multiple browsers, not just one)I did another system restore and the audio problem reappeared, but this laptop is quite new, I've ran out of restore points to go back to.... I just recently bought the YOGA 710-15IKB and after I got it which was on 1/27/17, I went to the product support page and downloaded all of the updated drivers and the BIOS update. I did everything as it was supposed to be done and now out of nowhere the Screen will not turn on, I can turn it on, the keyboard lights up, it seems to charge just fine but the screen just stays black, anybody have any ideas on how to possibly troubleshoot this, or what could have caused this?

Recently I found out that my lenovo yoga 710-15ikb laptop doesnt support digitizer active pen technology. Its hidden in online talks and also frustration when you buy a $70 wacom bamboo ink pen to find that it doesnt work. I understand that most active pens wont work with my computer because the screen (and maybe motherboard) dont have a digitizer. However, I have been looking online and some retailers appear to be selling digitizer lcd screens for my specific model. My question is whether or not these retailers are selling aftermarket screens and if they are will the digitizer work once one is installed? Also, I have a lot of experience doing repair work, mainly with digital cameras and building my desktop, so the task of replacing my laptops screen is not a problem Im just unsure as to whether or not buying a new digitizer lcd screen will work. I dont want to spend money that I dont have to if it turns out that I am just being misled.

Thanks!

Let me know if you need more clarification I'll be around for a while.

Hello.  When I attempt to unmute the microphone function so it can record, it automatically switches back to mute.  And the "Apply" button never highlights.  Perhaps this is why the unmute never keeps.  Any assistance would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Hello,A few days ago I've received my new Lenovo yoga 720 15". i've noticed that the bottom aluminium body plate is uneven and edges are curvy. I thought that this would not be a big problem, but the other day, after intensive use in an uncomfortable position whitch included me holding the laptop on the sides of the body. The uneven edge is too sharp for comfort. So, my question is, do I have a chance to change the product? Because I consider laptop to be defective. (otherwise, I really love the product )

Hi! I have read everywhere that fn+esc should activate/deactivate Paper Display (for example here) but it does not seem to work on my new Yoga 720 15". I found this but it is supported only by different models. Any ideas on what to do? Is the hotkey function working on other Yoga 720 computers? Thanks!

Hi everyone. I have tried searching here and on Google for a solution and can?t find anything for Yoga 710-15IKB owners. The only relevant thread I could find was from this user who is describing essentially the same questions, but nobody came up with a solution. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Yoga-710-Touchpad-Settings-Area-settings/t... I am trying to activate two touchpad features on my new Yoga 710-15IKB. Two finger scrolling. Two finger right-click tap.Increase speed of touchpad. (The mouse curser is painfully slow, even on the hightest pointer speed setting). However, I can?t seem to find any place to change these settings?I have tried the following: Navigating the touchpad settings via taskbar, looking at each tab (including the ELAN tab). There is no place to make touchpad gesture changes.Going into Windows 10 control panel settings for the touchpad. The only adjustment I can make is ?touchpad sensitivity?.Updating the ELAN driver in Windows 10 via ELAN tab > properties. This does nothing.Downloading and installing various ELAN/Synaptics touchpad drivers from Lenovo.com, none of them activating any ?gesture? settings that I can find. This one specifically did not even work? http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds118370 My questions: Does the Yoga 710-15IKB even support touchpad gestures? Are there any owners with this model who have success with activating gestures? Thanks for your... Answer:Lenovo Yoga 710-15IKB Touchpad Settings? Two-finger gestures?

Ended up taking the laptop back to Best Buy. The Geek Squad rep and I compared the model on the shelf. While the driver information matched, my model did not recognize the trackpad as being standalone (it was acting as a mouse in a PS/2 port). We concluded my computer had a faulty trackpad and got an exchange. All is well!

After i upgraded to BIOS 2XCN30WW(V2.05) dated 2017/06/21 i started to experience lags and temporary freezes (for 20/30 seconds and it would recover) while using windows 10 creators edition. The lag/freeze can be described as a period of time every 10 minutes or so in which the computer stops responding to keyboard input and eventually to mouse movements, if you had a youtube video or audio playing in the background it starts coming out distorted, everything makes you think there is something hogging the CPU or RAM, it recovers itself after 20 or 30 seconds, sometimes less than that.I first blamed Slack Client but quickly found that it didn't have anything to do. It didn't seem related to load as the CPU/RAM usage in Task Manager remained low during these periods.I then blamed a recent Windows Update patch , which i rolled back prompty without noticing any changes. My last option and what ultimately resolved the issue is the rolling back the BIOS upgrade that i applied at about the same time of the windows patch.I enabled the Allow Back-Flash option in BIOS setup and rolled back to version 2XCN29WW, and the problem dissapeared for good, and just to confirm that the BIOS was to blame after a few days of happy computing i decided to give the new BIOS another try and TADAH! soon after the update the freeze/lags started again.I just wanted to share this with you guys in hopes that if you are having similar issues you can resolve them using this message. And since Lenovo doesn't seem...
