I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Got a used Helix type 3xxx from my job. The screen it not working, but when connecting external screen it works fine. The screen has some bubbles under the glass. Does anyone know if this is something Lenovo warranty will cover? Still have 1 month warranty. BRKim

Answer:Helix type 3xxx touchscreen has "bubbles" and are ...

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

It sounds as though the screen has failed. The "bubbles" may be because a screen protector has been applied to the Helix?

If it's still under warranty, you could get it checked out. Start here, enter the serial number, and raise a service request or talk to Lenovo support for advice.

Strangely enough, the mini DP connector of the Helix Ultrabook Pro Keyboard seems to not support a native DP monitor (Lenovo 3053p) using a mini DP to DP adapter. The manual tells that this (DP) connector just supports VGA, DVI and HDMI monitors. So why is it a DP connector at all? Anybody succeeded in natively connecting a DP monitor?

Hi there, I have a spectre x360 which I am using with 2 monitors: 1 x 24in monitor plugged via HDMI - HDMI lead1 x 27in monitor pluged via mini DP - full size DP lead I have the laptop screen and the 2 monitor screens on at the same time - so effectivily im using a total of 3 screens. Everything works fine until the laptop goes to sleep. When I wake up the laptop, the laptop screen and the monitor plugged in via HDMI turn on. The monitor plugged in via display port doesnt wake up. The only fix is to unplug the mini displayport cable and plug it back in to the laptop - this wakes up the monitor. The issue with unplugging and plugging the cable back in is all the windows that I had opened get moved about and its very frustrating. Please advise how I can get the laptop to wake up both monitors. thanks

I have a W530 and I am trying to connect to a Dell S2740L monitor.  When doing so via RGB, no problem.  I can split the images/programs between the two separately. when I connect to the same monitor via the mini-display port using a converter to plug the HDMI connector, the best I can do is duplicate the PC screen or have the PC screen pushed over to the monitor and the laptop screen becomes the extended one.   I can't get the PC screen to be primary and the external monitor to be secondary. I have tried the various options using "Display" and "Screen Resolution" but none allow me to create the scenario described above. Any suggestions? thanks

We have a user with a Helix 2 (20CH) and the Ultrabook Pro Keyboard which has a mini-displayport in it.  He had a MS Surface previously and used a mini-DP splitter so he can hook his two Lenovo monitors to it and it worked great.  When we plug it in to the Ultrabook Pro Keyboard mini-DP port, the PC only sees it as a single monitor.  We reached out to the manufacturer who recommended asking Lenovo and that it is probably likely a limitation of the PC.  I assume it only sees one screen due to there only being one port. Am I correct or am I missing something?  Any input would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Just found a very interesting problem.  I just purchased a new 27" monitor and connected to my Dell XPS (9343) using a mini DisplayPort to HDMI cable.  The laptop was on and running when I connected everything and closed the lid.  Everything was working beautifully, until I ran WIndows update and had to reboot.  Then all *** broke loose.  The machine started beeping like crazy and the battery charge light started blinking orange then white and then it shut down.  After I recovered from my almost heart attack (I thought my laptop had died)...I opened the lid and hit the power button and it started up fine.  I closed the lid after it rebooted, and continued to work fine.  So as a test, I restarted the laptop again with the lid closed while the external monitor was connected and again the beeping and the orange light blinking.  Proceeded to turn it back on with the lid open...everything fine.  I checked the BIOS settings and everything seems to be normal.   It seems there's a problem with this laptop not being able to be restarted in the closed lid position when an external monitor is connected (something I do ALL THE TIME with my Lenovo work laptop that is also connected to an external monitor).   Has anyone else had this problem?  Is Dell aware of this issue??

I connected my Helix to my brand new Samsung TV via the mini-display adapter with an HDMI converter and while the picture is decent the sound is AWFUL. It sounds like it's coming out of a 2 dollar speaker and since it's a $900 tv I don't think that's the problem. The TV doesn't sound like that with any other computer connected or on it's own via cable etc so I am thinking it must be the Helix. Has anyone else had this probelm with audio output? Maybe I've got something set wrong? I was using VLC and an mp4 video which sounds fine by itself so I don't tihnk it's the video's audio either. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Answer:Helix Mini DisplayPort to HDMI sound is awful

Milo,

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the well written summary of your situation.   I would start by checking the sound coming out of the helix via headphone jack or its built in speakers.  How does it sound?  If there is a problem with sound volume and quality via these other output types, then I would uninstall the audio drivers, and install the latest versions from our support site.

If you have updated to Windows 8.1, perhaps an alternate audio driver was installed then, or via a subsequent update.

If the audio is fine via headphones and built in speakers, then let's look at the HDMI.  If you use the same cable with another laptop is it ok?  If not, perhaps the cable - bad ground, etc?

Let us know

Mark

When I plug in the monitor in the Mini Display port nothing displays on the Dell monitor and the monitor says no signal found.  I tried the same monitor on another T530 and it did the same thing no signal found. When I plug the Dell P2815QF into two different T430 Mini DP the monitor PNP fine and works fine. Both the T530 and the T430 have the same version of BIOS and same graphics cards and drivers. Has anyone else encountered this problem.

I'm just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem.  It first manifested itself after upgrading from Windows 8 to 8.1 -- touch and pen worked fine for a few days, then suddenly the touchscreen only recognized pen input.  Not wanting to part with the machine entirely, I waited for the Windows 10 upgrade.  The machine would not successfully upgrade until a few months after Windows 10 was released, when Microsoft's update labeled "build 1511" was released.  Again, pen and touch both worked fine...for a few days.  Since then, the touchscreen will only recognize pen input. The odd thing is that not just the Windows OS has been affected.  I dual-boot with a Debian Linux, and it has exhibited EXACTLY the same behavior. Currently, all installed OSes recognize pen input only.  Is there some hardware troubleshooting beyond Device Manager (which says the touchscreen is functioning fine; I have disabled, reenabled, uninstalled and let it rediscover, all to no avail) that I can do?   There was a touchscreen update from Lenovo that I've tried to apply, but that update says it's not needed and won't go any further than that. Everything is current, including the BIOS of both the tablet portion, and both of the keyboard docks I have. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  ThanksSteve

Answer:Helix 3xxx Driver issues

I have had a similar issue to this for over a year now. It happened when the Synaptics driver was updated by the System Update from Lenovo. I have contacted support over and over, even getting a new keyboard/touchpad. The only suggestion they give at this point is to do a factory reset. In order to live with the problem without using a Synaptics driver, I uninstalled the Synaptics driver from the Control Panel programs list and just used the Windows-based driver.

I just bought a used graphics card (Radeon HD 6870) because it has mini displayports for the sole purpose of connecting to my Apple Cinema Display (LED version).

I've tried inserting the mdp that comes out of the ACD into the graphics card and nothing happens. At all.

The graphics card itself works just fine when I use the DVI to my dell.

I'm not sure if it's the ACD not being compatible or the ports being inactive/dead. I'm not sure how to test for the latter since I don't have any other mdp devices.

I'm really stumped. I want to clear up my desk and just use my ACD alone.

When I boot up without a connection to an external monitor I experience some display issues with text sizing of certain objects within certain applications (e.g. Microsoft Visual Studio).  In these applications parts of the User Interface display perfectly.   Other parts of the same application will have vastly oversized objects and text.  And, in another application the text is greatly undersized in certain portions of this app. When I boot up while connected to an external monitor everything displays perfectly on the external monitor.   This happens without making any changes whatsoever to system display setting or application configuration settings.  If I disconnect the external monitor the X1's internal monitor still displays everything perfectly.   But if restart while disconnected from an external monitor I experience the same display issues as described in the 1st paragraph. I don't think this problem was always there, but  I cannot say for sure.  It just got so annoying that I finally decided to write to the forum today.   I would guess that the problem has been this way for 1-2 months. The Lenovo System Update app tells me that everything is up to date.    Is there some setting or perhaps driver that needs to change? Tim

I charge my computer via the usb type-c power connector since that is the correct way to do it. Obviously my computer has very few ports.  It seems a waste of a port to use it to power my machine.   Isnt there some way to use that port as a usb type-c port, AND, at the same time, use it to power the machine.   Power requires only 2, maybe 3 wires.  Isnt there a way to 'split' the port to allow me to make use of the port as a USB port?

Answer:w530 mini displayport to HDMI monitor not working..!!

The retail latest nVidia drivers (341.05) for the K1000M can be obtained from the nVidia driver download site.

You should have the BIOS set to "discrete graphics" and also "disable Optimus" when doing the install.  This guarantees that the K1000M hardware IS SEEN by the installer.

Remember, if you're looking to support an external monitor with highest video perofmance (and especially if you're plugged into A/C power and not running portable on battery where you're concerned about usable lifetime remaining) then you don't want to run with the Lenovo-provided back-level Optimus Driver (which purports to support Optimus mode, of Intel HD graphics primarily and K1000M only when graphics performance demand justifies it).  You want to run with strictly K1000M, which means "discrete graphics".

[NOTE: my experience with Optimus mode on the W530 is that doesn't work as the nVidia technology says it should. It seems to be BIOS firmware determined if/when the K1000M ever cuts in for use, with the Intel HD graphics being used for everything otherwise. The supposedly functional nVidia Graphics Adapter Utility, and nVidiea Control Panel 3D Settings which allow forcing the K1000M to be used for specific programs, and the right-click on desktop shortcuts to select the GPU to be used for the progam's next launch... all of those manual overrides and settings to force the K1000M if you want to force it, well they DO NOT ACTUALLY WORK AT ALL. That's been my experie... Read more

I have an original series HP Spectre x360 13-4003dx with Windows 10. I cannot connect a vga display to the x360 Mini DisplayPort. I am using a miniDisplayport to vga cable from CableDeconn. Typing (Windows) + P, I try to switch to dual displays, either mirrored or extended, and also try to click on "detect display" but get the error message, cannot detect. i have rolled back the graphic drivers to the original install, and also updated to the most recent. Neither works. I also removed pin 9 from the VGA side of the cable (15 pin cable, reduced to 14 pin).  I removed the pin because I heard that some cables send voltage thru that pin, and shouldn't. Nothing works. i have tried it on a Planar vga only monitor, a Samsung VGA monitor, and an LG TV (vga connector), all of which work with other equipment.  The hdmi to hdmi connection works just fine. i have spent hours and am very frustrated.  Any hints or help is  greatly appreciated.  I'm about to go to the dark side (Apple). Please don't let me do it! Everything works so much easier (but with less flexibility and sooo much more money).

The charger for the computer seem unnecessarly large and heavy.  Are there other chargers out there in the world that would fit, be electrically compatible, and work? Chargers are rated in Volts and Amps.  If the Volts are right (and the pins are right), and if the charger is underpowered (low Amps), all that should happen would be the machine would run down much more slowly, (and recharge overnight). So how many charging Amps are required by this machine?  And are there other chargers that might work?  How should I search for them?

Having received a brand-new P51 directly from Lenovo, i am facing major issues attaching external monitors.Win10 image from factory, all windows updates, all driver updates as recommended by Lenovo companion. Manually reinstalled graphics drivers, driver update using windows does not detect newer ones. Latest BIOS (1.15). Upon suggestion of lenovo changed BIOS mode from hyprid to discrete.I have these two issues from day 1:When i attach a monitor using the right hand side mini displayport, it is not recognized. Monitor stays in stand-by, no sound played, nothing happens. Inserting the same cable into the port of a W540 (Win 8.1) monitor immediately wakes up and can be used up to its full resolution (3440x1440).inserting laptop into ultradock (230W) it only recognizes one attached monitor. BIOS password entry lock was not shown on external monitor when lid was closed, needed to enter "blind" and press enter, only upon windows boot the monitor (Lenovo 27") was recognized. i think after changing to discrete mode now it showed the lock symbol when starting with closed lid. but still no second monitor is recognized. This is the first thinkpad in my history where such basic things do not work at all.I noticed once i had Intel and Nvidia context menu items when presing right mouse botton on desktop screen, now i only have "Nvidia Control Panel" and "nView Desktop Manager" shown. Which may or may not be ok. Lenovo seems not to be able to help - they are quite anxious to get it so... Read more

I have a Thinkpad L520 running Windows 7 connected, along with three other machines, to a Trendnet 4-port KVM Switch.  When I initially connected the KVM switch to the Tinkpad via VGA and USB connection, I rebooted the laptop only to find no display present.  After logging into Windows, I hit Fn-F7 and selected Duplicate Display.  This properly extended the display to the external monitor connected through the KVM switch. However, if I swich to another device on the KVM switch and then switch back to the L520, the display briefly disappears, the Thinkpad generates a tone, and the display disappears on the external monitor.  If I hit Fn-F7 and select Duplicate Display again, the display is again mirrored to the external monitor. Is there a way to correct this issue so that the display across the KVM switch remains persistent? FYI - I also hve a Thinkpad running Open Client for Linux (RHEL variant) and it works fine with the KVM switch and required no adjustments.Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi all, I have the i7 8G ram version of the X1 Carbon (UK version) and love it.  The only issue I have with it is in relation to the mini display port.  I use a lot of HDMI equipment so immediately bought the mini display to HDMI connector from Grifin, see http://store.griffintechnology.com/video-display-converter but whilst video exports fine no sound is being output via the HDMI cable and end up sound via the X1 speakers which are great for personal use but useless in a large room full of people. I already contacted Griffin support and they quickly referred me to Lenovo. All help much appreciated. Ben

Hi Emostelace,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understood that you are facing the issue with external monitor on your ThinkPad T530.

Is the system shipped with additional graphic card?
Have you checked with updating the graphic drivers?

Hope this helps!

Best regards,

To start, I have updated all drivers from the lenovo site.  I was using a second screen via display port to DVI and when I woke up the next day, it would no longer detect or identify the second monitor , but would say "2. Display port on:VGA."  It never said this before. So, I took the second monitor to another laptop and it works fine.  I also went into the bios and changed the display configuration to all three settings.  Nothing!  This has become mind-boggling.  Any thoughts?

Answer:Helix - Display port problem

I tried to reinstall back to factory but nothing is working.  Can someone walk through the steps in case I might be missing something.  I searched the internet and it also sounds like a Windows update problem, but I have no idea.  Any help would be great.

Hi, I REALLY need your help!
As said in the title I am using a HD 6970 (XFX btw) connected as said. HDMI goes to a TV wich I use as TV or monitor, as needed. HDMI goes to a 1080p monitor, VGA to a 1366x768.
What I am really wondering about: THERE NEVER WAS A PROBLEM, everything functioned as it should (after figuring out how to connect more than two displays to a HD 6970), for about three to four weeks now. But from one day to another this conifguration just stopped working. Now I am only able to use 2 monitors, windows showing a error like "Displayport connection failure - requested resolution and refresh rate can't be determined".
I already tested a LOT of possible different connections to my monitors with the result that no monitor is showing a defect. They are all working. I also plugged my graphics card out and in again.
Am I right if say the problem has to be set at the cables, the adapters or the graphic outputs?
I'd really appreciate if you could somehow help me exactly locating the problem! Thanks in advance!!

Sounds like you have a graphics card installed, if so, the built-in ports are disabled.   I suggest you use the other port on the graphics card.

Hello

My Thinkpad Helix is now about 1 month old and is having several issues. Several of the drivers have become disfunctional and I am not capable of updating the ones where the problems exsist. They get about 3/4 of the way through the installation and then freeze. More importantly, I have a restart issue where once my computer displays the "Restarting..." screen, it just remains there until the BSOD appears displaying the error as a "driver power state failure". This is a big reason I cannot fix the drivers, because the computer wont restart or shut down properly.

I am so exhausted with trying to fix this that I have decided just to reset my computer to factory settings but alas, in the process of doing so, the computer freezes indefinitely.

HELP!

I have a Dell Latitude E7450 laptop with a E-Port Plus II port replicator connected to two external monitors using DisplayPort which will not output to multiple monitors.
I have another Dell model and when placed on the port replicator with two external monitors connected, booting into BIOS/UEFI the screen is cloned onto each monitor. However, when doing the same with a brand new Dell Latitude E7450 only one screen is active - the other is off. Within Windows itself, I can only have 1 monitor connected to the port replicator. If I undock, I can run 3 monitors independently indicating an issue with the dock rather than a hardware limitation with the laptop itself.
I believe the above tests eliminates the OS or driver issue and highlights a compatibility issue between the new Dell Latitude E7450 laptop and E-Port Plus II port replicator. I have tried this on 2 separate machines with the same results. I have also updated both the graphics drivers (Version 10.18.14.4170, A16) and the BIOS (Version A04) to the latest releases. I have also tried using DVI cables as well as swapping out the port replicators. Nothing works. In Windows 8.1 itself, it actually shows as two monitors active, but one is not on. If I swap out the monitors to a different brand, I get the same result.
Is there a BIOS/UEFI setting I need to change? Is there a newer port replicator or update I need?

Answer:Dell Latitude E7450 compatibility with E-Port Plus II with external Dual DisplayPort monitors

Did you resolve this issue and, if so, how? I have the same laptop (but running Windows 10) and the same docking station with the same results.

My external monitor ASUS PB278Q stopped working. I switched out the DP cable which is newly purchased. I have my GPU driver updated and I'm pretty sure I've updated most other drivers on my laptop as well. I'm connecting the DP through the 433835U TP MiniDock Plus Series 3 (https://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-433835U-MiniDock-Docking-Station/dp/B0085MQLMQ). For some  reason the laptop doesn't seem to detect the monitor or vice versa. The monitor says DP cable no signal. Other inputs like the power adapter and the wireless mouse I attach to the docking station do work however. I'm not sure what else I'm looking at. I haven't tried using the other inputs like the hdmi (id have to buy an adapter) or the VGA and the one other one it has since I dont have cable for those... I'm not sure how to resolve this. Please provide support, thanks.

On the XPS 15 9550, can an external monitor with Displayport inputs be connect directly into the laptop's USB-C Thunderbolt output using a straight miniDisplayport-to-Displayport cable?  Similarly, can a miniDisplayPort to VGA adapter cable be plugged directly into the USB-C Thunderbolt port to drive older monitors/projectors? Or is the TB15 Dock mandatory in order to get the computer talking to  external video devices through its Thunderbolt port output?

I would like to extend my desktop to two external displays (1080p) in addition to the Helix screen. Of course, we only have one mini-displayport on the Helix. I don't have displayport-enabled monitors which can daisy-chain. Which of these options would you guys recommend?1. Using the Lenovo or Startech Displayport Splitter, which will make the two external displays look like one giant display to the computer.2. Using wi-di for one monitor while using the physical mini-displayport for the other. Will this work? If so, any recommendations for a a wi-di adapter for a monitor? I don't want to use a USB dock / monitor extension, since I don't want to be using CPU power to drive the displays. Are there any other options I am missing? If it matters, the internal display of the Helix uses a displayport-type adapter.  Thanks!

Answer:Helix - Two external displays + laptop display

I can't vouch for whether or not this will work on the Helix as I haven't bought one yet, but I'd definitely be keen to know. Technically the version of displayport on the Helix should allow outputting to two 1080p monitors at once, and Zotac make a mini displayport to dual HDMI adapter. http://www.zotac.com/products/accessories/adaptors/product/adaptors/detail/mini-displayport-to-dual-... The startech displayport splitter just seems to be full displayport, not mini displayport.

I have the Lenovo G500 which has one each of a VGA and HDMI port. I'd like to connect both an external VGA and HDMI monitor, plus use the Laptop display. It appears that Windows will support this because it recognizes both monitors when connected, but, the display properties tell me to disconnect the 3rd monitor. Is this just not supported? Do I need to move to a USB-based video adapter to achieve this on this model? My other semi-related question is: has anyone had success converting from HDMI to a DisplayPort monitor? Thanks in advance.

I?m sorry to inform you that only one display can be connected using any one of the port and both cannot be activated at one time, and external device cannot be supported to display video.

I have upgraded my HP Pro X2 612 laptop to Windows 10 and installed all the necessary drivers. I even installed the drivers for the HP UltraSlim Docking Station Product #D9Y32UT#ABA which is supposed to be compatible for the device. I downloaded and installed the drivers from this website:http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pro-x2-612-g1/7109448 Even after installing these drivers, the displayport still did not function. I have tested multiple cables and adapters, all of which functioned on other devices, but to no avail. I have also tried following the fix here:http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c05030352&sp4ts.oid=7109448 Still no external display was detected. Is there a driver or fix that I am missing?

Hello there,I have problem with my T410. I have connected external monitor (HP LP2475w) over displayport. Everything is all right until I wake up my NB from suspend. After I wake it up, I have to move mouse (or press some key) to get an image (like monitor was powered down). But then the image is corrupted. Over whole display I can see only one small piece from center of the image (typicaly login image and password field on W7 login screen). It's not a bad resolution, only very zoomed image. I have to unplug displayport cable, open lid, plug cable and close lid. After that is image fine again, but the procedure is very annoying. It doesn't matter if I have it connected directly to NB or to dock. Also the same problem occures when I set up the monitor shutdown in display options from control panels.Does anyone know the solution? Thanks.

Hi all, I am trying to connect 2 external monitors (Asus VW22AT) to my W550S laptop.Via the VGA connection, it works fine (for both monitors, i tried one by one), the display automatically sets to 1680x1050 resolution. My problem comes from the mini displayport which i used with DVI adapter (I also tried with VGA adapter), I can't get the 1680x1050 resolution, it recommands to use a 1920x1080 resolution but the screen is blurred. If I manually set to 1680x1050, the image doesn't use all the screen, each side is black on 3 centimeters thus the image is also blurred. Do you have any solution please?Best regards, Jean

I've been routinely plugging a displayport to HDMI cable into my T420 to put the laptop's display on a flatscreen TV. Recently, the external display lost color and displayed only in Black and White.  Thinking it was a cable problem, I purchased a new displayport to HDMI cable, but have the same problem.  I've tried using different external monitors, but with the same problem.  The laptop color display is fine.  Only the displayport from the laptop sends a black and white signal to an external monitor.  Is this likely a hardware problem with the displayport connection or is there an internal setting I can try adjusting?Any suggestions?

Answer:T420 external displayport display has lost color feed

ou can go to the Lenovo website and download the NVIDIA display driver from the drivers and software section on the site. You can also download the display and graphics card driver from the same location. I dont know which operating system you are running on currently but within the drivers they specify which driver is for which operating system. I listed the path below. 1. Go to the Lenovo website (www.Lenovo.com)2. Select the support link at the top of the page3. Its going to ask for what type of support you need so select drivers and software4. Its going to ask for your machine information, so you enter in your machine type, product ID, or T420 and search5. Once you get to drivers and software page you select the link that states Display and Video Graphics and open the link then download the driver that is specified for the operating system you have.6. Then you can go to the driver that is labeled video and follw the same path as the previous step.7. Once the drivers are downloaded reboot the machine and see if that resolved the issue. Please respond back once these steps have been taken and inform me if this has resolved your issue. Thank You

Hello, I am new in this community and I hope that you can help me with my problem. I have just switched to Windows 7 Pro and it is already driving me crazy. I use a Lenovo X200 with my Ultrabase. I connect the notebook to an external display via DisplayPort. The Intel GM45 Graphics Driver crashes about twice a minute when the Notebook is docked and connected to the external screen. Than all screens become black and afterwards a message pops up, that says "Intel Graphics Accelerator for XP (R) stopped responding and has recovered". Sometimes the notebook crashes and reboots. That gets really annoying and I haven't found a solution. Bios Version is 3.20. I loaded the latest Intel Graphics Driver from the Lenovo Webpage (8.15.10.2302) with Windows 7 SP1 (all updates installed). When I use a standard windows driver and not the Intel driver the external display flickers black every minute once. The newest Intel driver (from the Intel Website) does not work, since it says that it is not released for my notebook. Regards

Unfortunately the T420 does not detect themonitor, when connected via the KVM switch. I tried:A) T420 -> Lenovo Displayport to DVI-Adapter -> KVM-Switch -> 24" monitor: NO SUCCESSB) T420 -> Thinkpad miniDock Series 3 DVI Port-> KVM Seitch -> 24" monitor : NO SUCCESSC) T420 ->Thinkpad miniDock Series 3 DVI Port-> 24" monitor - > SUCCESSD) T420 >Thinkpad miniDock Series 3 VGA Port -> 24" monitor - > SUCCESSSo I have a workaround, but leaving out the KVM switch is not a long term option. This is all on Win 7 professional / 64bit Using config (A) I then installed the Intel HD Graphics Driver version 8.15.10.2342 16 May 2011SURPRISE: during driver install, the monitor WAS detected!!!SECOND SURPRISE: after reboot I was back in the old situation where the monitor was NOT DETECTED CONCLUSION:Seems like a software issue with the Intel HD Graphice driver. ANY HINT/COMMENT/HELP highly appreciated! Thanks,Michael

Answer:T420 - external 24" monitor DVI->Displayport : not detected when connected via KVM switch

hey mgold,as the T420 works correctly with the external monitor and with the miniDock ; it is sad to say the the KVM switch is non-compatible.I would recommend that you get in contact with the manufacturer of the KVM. At the same time, try uninstalling the current video drivers of your T420 and see if it makes any difference with the KVM if the T420 is running on a generic driver

(Apologies for a duplicate.) The Intel GMA driver apparently doesn't support the combination of image orientations that I want on the X200T panel and the external monitor, which is connected by DisplayPort from the dock. The tablet panel is inverted on the desk for easier stylus use, so Intel GMA has its rotation at 180. I now want to *physically* rotate the external LCD so it is in portrait mode and display images that way (e.g. full portrait pages of text for editing).  Doing so requires a 90 or 270 offset from the tablet panel orientation. Apparently the Intel GMA does not support this. The buttons that I would use for those are grey.  Only the 0 and 180 are available for the external monitor. What do I try next?  Am I missing a driver upgrade?  Or facing a purchase of PivotPro or something like that? Best regards,

what OS are you using? and which intel driver are you running on? have you tried to update the intel video driver?

Hello Up until a few days ago, I ran the evaluation copy of Windows 8 with little fuz on my X201 Tablet with the X200 Ultrabase.I have a DELL 3007WFP with DVI-D only.I connect it to the X200 Ultrabase using a Displayport to DVI-D active adapter from BizLink, and as mentioned, it has been working fine. The I ran a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, and upgraded to Windows 8.Before that, I upgraded the BIOS to 1.4.0 (The one that Lenovo says is Windows 8 ready) Now I get "Another deisplay not detected" when I go to the resolution setup for monitors.I have tried hundreds of different approaches (new drivers, old drivers, windows 7 drivers, intels own drivers) Any suggestions? Thanks

Answer:Displayport to DVI-D X201 Tablet/Windows 8 64 bit - not detecting external monitor

Hi, smortensen

To make sure I fully understand the issue: You have upgraded to Windows 8, and you have your machine connected to an Ultrabase, correct? Are you trying to extend/duplicate your display from the laptop to another monitor? If you are trying to connect the laptop to an external display, have you attempted to do this when the computer is not in the Ultrabase?

Best,
Adam

I received my Lenovo Helix today and am having issues outputting to an external monitor. During initial setup output was working but with the occasional flicker, so I performed all Windows Updates and Lenovo updates, however now it will not output to external at all. Monitor is a Dell 2740L 1080p monitor using a Kanex MDPHD10ft mini displayport to HDMI cable. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just purchased a Thinkpad W550s. I would like to use a mini display port and connect to two monitors. I know I can do this with one VGA, but is it possible (without a dock) to use a mini display port to dual dvi adapter. I have two Dell monitors and a Y cord like this: http://i.stack.imgur.com/aqbCC.jpg Is this possible? Is there another way to connect two monitors via the mini display? Thanks!

Answer:Mini Display Port to DualDVI

Hello,

I haven't used any of these myself, but there are apparently a few companies which make adapters to do this:

Belkin ? F2CD060 - Mini DisplayPort to 2× DVI (F) splitter dongle
MonoPrice ? 8118 - Mini DisplayPort to DVI (2× DVI Output) Converter
Topper ? TP-MDC203 - Mini DisplayPort to DVI×2 Converter

Perhaps one of these meet your needs.

Basically, I have this eye-finity graphics card, and it has 5 mini display ports, I need to buy a Mini-display port to VGA, but I'm not sure which will work.

On Amazon they have Mini-display port converters for Mac, they all seem to be Mac related, would a mac one work on my Windows PC? since it is just a converter? If not, then where could i buy one for PC for cheap?

I appreciate you taking your time reading this.

Answer:Mini-Display port to VGA converter

A few to choose from here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...sNodeId=1&Description=mini+displayport&Page=2

It is a hardware adapter, so the operating system doesn't matter.

I've noticed this with the W541 connected to the ultra dock. There is a setting in the BIOS that says to use an external monitor (forget exactly what the setting is called), but it doesn't appear to work.

I am currently running Windows 8.1 64-bit. I've searched for any similar posts about this issue and found Dual monitors problem - VGA and Displayport pretty helpful and followed the following mentioned instructions: 1. Updated my BIOS using BIOS Update Utility for Windows 10 (64-bit), Windows 8.1 (64-bit), 8 (64-bit), 7 (32-bit & 64-bit) -.... After the update, I checked my BIOS main and the following relevant details are shown: - UEFI BIOS Version: GJET87WW (2.37 ) - UEFI BIOS Date (Year-Month-Day): 2016-01-122. Set Boot Display Device option to "Digital on ThinkPad", in BIOS -> Config -> Display.3. Downloaded and installed Lenovo USB Display Driver for Windows 10 (32-bit, 64-bit), 8.1 (32-bit, 64-bit), 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) ....4. Installed Intel HD Graphics Driver for Windows 8.1 (64-bit) - ThinkPad. After doing the above instructions, and checking Screen Resolution (at Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display\Screen Resolution), the laptop still doesn't recognize the connected monitor using DisplayPort. I would like you to provide me a solution for my request ASAP.

HelloI use a Lenovo TP X1 (Type 12942NG)After a crash I setup the laptop with a original MS Windows 7 Pro CD. I can't recover from a Lenovo Recover DVD. I use the Lenovo System Upgrade Tool to install all drivers etc. But the displayport with the VGA adapter doesn't work. It's not a hardware problem. When I boot linux the VGA adapter works. When I connect to a external monitor or beamer the system detects that. When I use the function "clone display" the buildin display reduce the resol. but no signal to external display. When I use the function "extend display" the buildin display is dark (but active !) an also no signal to external display. I read also the blog how-to connect an external display. there is mention to use the "Extended Settings" Link after select the external monitor but in my case this Link isn't active. Any hints for this problem ? Regards Gerald

Answer:External Monitor/Beamer doesn't work with X1 and Lenovo Displayport/VGA adapter

Hi ederg:

You may want to download/update: Monitor file for Windows 7 (Thinkpad)

The reason I say that is because the readme it states, "If you use the preload environment, you do not need this package. This package is required when you install Windows OS without the preload image."

Since you setup the Thinkpad with Windows 7 Pro CD and no longer have the preload image, this may fix the problem.

Also, have you checked the website for the displayport manufacturer? They may have updated drivers there that wouldn't have been on the update tool you used.

*Edit* You can also check the: External monitors issues section here. It goes over some basic troubleshooting you may want to try first (I just came across it now)

Let us know how it turns out!

I'm using a T430s and a mini dock plus series 3. This is the dock with the dual DVI, dual DisplayPort, 1x VGA. I do not use the laptop's built-in screen; just the 2 external monitors. Intel HD4000 graphic chip and Nvidia Optimus/ I previously had 2 20" monitors with a 1680x1050 resolution using DVI-to-DVI. They both worked fine. I upgraded to 2 24" monitors with a 1920x1200 resolution. The laptop is not recognizing the second monitor. I have tried:dual display port (dock side) to mini display port (monitor side): only 1 monitor recognizeddual dvi (dock side) to HDMI (monitor side): only 1 monitor recognizedI ruled out monitor and cable problems by swapping...each by itself works fine. Looking up specs, I believe this resolution should be supported by DP or DVI. Can anybody confirm that this is a supported config? Any ideas what is wrong? UPDATE - I did try 1 DP/mDP and 1 DVI/HDMI: this does work. However, its not an ideal solution because it would interfere with the monitors ports which I want to use for a second PC. UPDATE 2 - OK, now I am beyond aggrivated. I also have a support ticket w/ Lenovo where they suggested switching to Integrated Graphics only in the BIOS. I tried that, no luck. After changing that setting back, i tried to get my 1 DP / 1 DVI working, but now it would not recognize dual monitors. ??? After some testing, I'm finding that the -only- setup that works is the following: Dock DVI port 1 to Moni... Answer:Second monitor not detected: T430s with Mini Dock Plus Series 3 dual external monitor

Fixed; was a driver issue. Problem seems exclusive to a Dell u2415 on DP port 1 only of the dock or to the laptop's DP port (at least for the couple monitors I tried). It's possible it could affect other monitors. My starting point: 9.18.13.4535 / 9.17.10.2843 (Nvidia /  Intel) The latest driver from Lenovo is 9.18.13.4535 / 8.15.10.2725. I'm not sure how i have a slightly newer Intel, but that's what it was. I couldn't install the Lenovo driver. I also couldn't install a newer driver from Intel (10.18.10.4276). In both cases Windows or the Intel installer stopped me saying the mfr provided the drivers and that the installed version was up to date. I worked around by first rolling back the Intel driver. The manual (.zip) install of the latest intel driver worked. This immediately fixed the Dell u2415 on DP port 1 and laptop's built-in DP port.

Are there any adapters to do this or ways to do this? I can't seem to find any.

I am buying new monitors, the dell u2414h. Now, while this does have hdmi, I will be connecting multiple monitors together to extend the display from the laptop to give me multiple screens. The problem with this is that it only works if you use displayport and not hdmi, so I need a way to convert the hdmi to displayport or mini displayport.

I will primarily be using these monitors with my laptop that has displayport, so that is why I am getting these monitors and that won't be a problem. I will most likely hook up other laptops to the monitors and hdmi is way more common from what I have seen on laptops than displayport and is why I need a way to go from hdmi to displayport or mini displayport.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Answer:Hdmi to Displayport/Mini Displayport

You can't, HDMI does not support daisy chaining in the manner that DisplayPort does and you can't use a simply adapter to go from HDMI to DisplayPort and get the features of DisplayPort.

I'm wondering with the T410i whether the port next to the three USBs is a DisplayPort or Mini DisplayPort. I don't know much about this quite yet. I just want to be able to get a DVI to (Mini) DisplayPort adapter to use with my monitor.

It's a regular DisplayPort. Pretty sure it's also a DisplayPort++.

Answer:Mini DisplayPort to Dual DisplayPort

Maybe, if DP v1.2.See also a related older thread on http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=964769Theoretically you could connect up to 4 IDENTICAL monitors using this daisy-chain emulator contraption. Much simpler, however, would be to use native DP monitors that have both DPv1.2 IN and OUT ports and daisy chain them properly, w/o the $79 contraption. see http://www.displayport.org/faq/Practically one must try before telling. Even when DP v1.2, still better try. Also see http://www.macrumors.com/2011/09/16/apple-thunderbolt-display-with-multiple-monitors/

Hello, I am trying to stream Netflix from my laptop so that it shows up on my TV using an HDMI cord and a mini-display to HDMI adapter. I got the video part working but the sound still comes through my computer instead of the TV. Other sources suggest going into the control panel and setting the TV as the default playback device for sound. I tried this but when I went to the sound settings but the television did not even show up as an option for a playback device, even when I had it show disabled and disconnected devices. I understand that it might be the adapter but the reviews for the adapter I bought online suggest that other people have gotten audio working with the same device, so I am going to have to assume for now that it is not the problem. I have a Lenovo T530 using windows 7; if you need any other information let me know. I am generally not too savy with computers so the more explanation the better. Thanks in advance!

Hello There, I just got a new W540 with ThunderboltMy goal is to run two identical LCD monitors (1920 x 1080)I have 3 locations with dual monitors, but can't justify 3 docking stations So I am having trouble finding answers to... 1) can I use a splitter to run two monitors off the single Thunderbolt port ? (What Type ?) 2) Will any old splitter do ?   (Is apple MDP stuff compatible ?)   - More of a hub, and all about driver availability 3) My monitors have VGA and HDMI inputs only   - Do I really need display port compatable monitors ?  - A DP hub & 2 converters (DP to HDMI or VGA)  + 2 old monitors ($150.00 dollar solution)  - One Monitor with dual DP ports - or 1 port &  hub & converter (DP to HDMI))   - A hub that splits the DP into two (or more) HDMI / VGA   - Two extreamly expensive Thunderbolt monitors  4) Is it possible to "Thunder split" so that I could run one HDMI to Customer's TV , and other to one of my  LCD's ?   - Yes 5) What sort of resolution and quality could be expected ?     ThunderBolt 2 is designed to handle 4K Video - (2 x 1080p is light duty)     From  NVIDIA Quadro K1000M Specs...     6) Do I have Tjhunderbolt 1.* or 2 ?    Only Lenovo knows Thanks for the help !

I have a Lenovo X250.  I am trying to project to an external monitor via the Mini Display Port via an adaptor and HDMI cable.  The connector, cable and monitor are fine, because I am able to project using another machine with them.  Also, I can tell that the X250 is switching to try to push the image to an external monitor because the resolution and settings change when I select "Duplicate" in the Fn+F7 option screen.  Lastly, if I use a monitor that accepts VGA, my X250 will duplicate the screen with no issue, so my assumption if that the projection fuctionality works on this X250.  My "Display Adapter" as shown in the Device Manager is an "Intel(R) HD Graphics 5500" and I have update it with the latest driver.  Any assistance or clues as to what I am doing wrong are appreciated.

You are only going to be able to use one at a time. You can extend your desktop so you use both the notebook screen and the monitor though.
