I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, is there a keyboard shortcut (hotkey combo?) to launch Lenovo Energy Management utility in Windows 8.x? I'm interested particularly in the dust removal utility, but launching the whole Lenovo Energy Management suite would also do the trick. p.s. I know where to find the executable, I just wonder if there's any key combo to launch it quicker..

Hi, i Have recently updated my Ideapad Z580 to windows 8. While using the power management application i came to know it misses out the modes as it was in Windows 7. Its does not even shows up the visual display when you press the Thermal management key.  I have to go to the hidden icon tab to select the Energy management, wherein there are options which i cannot understand what are they use for like Intelligent power saver. The options provided are very different from the ones provided in the Windows 7 version. Also, the function keys & other keypad layout got changed when i upgraded to Windows 8. Like the function for turning the Wi-Fi & bluetooth in windows 7 got changed. To write special character (@) changed. its now typing (") when upgraded to windows 8. Function key feature (Fn+F4) not working in windows 8. Can anyone tell me is the windows 8 Energy management application better than the windows 7 one or viceversa. if not, is lenovo trying to upgrade the features in the windows 8 version of energy management application & other applications like in the windows 7 ones.   Thank you.

Hi, I just purchased a brand-new lenovo Z470. As I almost always keep my laptopplugged into the power supply; I set the laptop to the ?optimize for batteryhealth option? so that the computer only charges to 50% when plugged in. It seemed to work fine, however when I used the laptop on battery mode thelaptop automatically changed the setting back to ?optimize for battery runtime?and upon plugging the power back in, the computer did not revert to my ?health?setting & charged to 100 % ! Why won?t the computer remember my settings ? (Also, is it possible for thecomputer to automatically change between power plans ie. high performance whenplugged in, but power saver when on battery) ? Thanks

I've been having problems with my ideapad y510p, just as i bought it. After 3 times sent to warranty because the laptop won't charge (either with or without the battery), i found it was the Energy Management software preinstalled that was messing it up. After running a battery calibration (supposedly to improve the battery life), it discharges the battery and, supposedly, without shuting down, it should charge it again, but instead, without warning, turns off and restarts as if i had disconected the lap. all's well until i disconnect the laptop to take it to work. now (and the last 2 times) it won't receive any power. IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN FIX THIS? i want to check here before sending it to warranty service, as i've been receiving an awful service, and it seems to be a problem with software (lenovo's software), it probably won't be covered (that sucks, guys, it's your software, but anyways). please, please, a little help, i paid good money for a laptop that's been used like 2 weeks in 4 months

I just signed up with the US Lenovo Support site.  Under the Diagnose & Fix tab, I was offered a link to the Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox (LTT). On my old Think system laptop, I used to have a similar toolbox.  I downloaded the toolbox, and installed on my Y470. It installed correctly, and all the options work great. I especially love all of the system information it generates. LTT covers much more on the hardware configuration in my Y470, than any other tool I?ve seen.   I only have one question about the Power Manager Feature in the toolbox. I haven?t installed that program yet.  If I install the toolbox Power Manager Program, will it work ?nice? with the Lenovo Energy Management software that I already have in the Y470?  Will both programs be able to co-exist without generating any problems? I don?t want to endanger, or disable my existing Y470 Energy Management system. It works fine. I just want to see what capability, the LTT Power Manager, offers me. Thank you, DragonRider

Hi, I have a Lenovo G550L which I use with Windows XP SP3. I have installed Lenovo Energy Management 3.0.3.0 and set it up. I like that it supports CPU throttling, because I couldn't set this up without installing the utility. One thing is bugging me a little bit and it's the automatic setting of brightness. There are two states of brightness that can be set. First is brightness when plugged in and second is brightness when running on batteries. Not a bad idea, but unnecessary for me. Okay then, since there is no leave brightness alone button, I set both to the brightest. Then I adjust brightness as night comes to lower levels (only with the Fn key, not by adjusting in the Energy Management center). Then I unplug my notebook and the brightness goes up to the maximum. No, I don't want Lenovo Energy Management Utility to change brightness at all. It should leave it on the level that has been set manually by the Fn key. How can I do this? ThanksLászló Süt?

I've been using a Lenovo V570 for quite a while now and really like the energy management utility that lets me keep my laptop plugged in without charging the battery to 100% (it keeps it around 50%). I got a T410 for a friend of mine and am in the process of setting it up, doing all the MS updates, etc. I see the Lenovo Power Management utiity, but I don't see the option to select "Best Battery Health" like I can in the V570. The options are more complicated in the T410, so maybe I'm missing something obvious. If so, sorry. All I want to do is have it set up for her like on my V570 so that it won't prematurely age the battery, since her laptop, like mine, is almost always used plugged in. Thanks.

Answer:Does the T410 have an energy management utility similar to the V570?

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to inform that ThinkPad machines doesn?t have energy management utility. Instead, they have been supported by a certain set of tools called Think vantage toolbox. For battery management, you may use power manager which can help you to automatically/manually adjust the battery charge thresholds. In Power manager, under battery tab, click on battery maintenance to adjust the thresholds.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Mithun.

Hello folks, My y510p is painfully slow after bootup, highly annoying.  I have tried researching it and see several references to lenovo power management possibly being the issue.  When I look in startup via task manager, I see both lenovo battery management and lenovo energy management.  What is the difference?  Should I have them both?  Can I uninstall one or both, and if so, how?  I do not see them in control panel or elsewhere. ThanksChad

Answer:Energy Management in Z580 Ideapad

I have two Z580 the notebook will stop charging the battery automatically once it hits 100% of charge , if the notebook is powered off the middle led\light on the front will go off, if you are in windows it will stay white but you can click on the battery icon on the taskbar to find the currant battery charge. If you use the notebook on mains power all the time set the power manger to charge the battery to 60% only, If you use the notebook on battery a lot leave this set to 100% , I wish there was a 80% like most other manufactures. John.

Hi, I have an IdeaPad Y580 with Windows 10 Pro. The battery is 10.8V, 72Wh, 6700mAh / 11.1V 6200 mAh. The battery indicator in Windows was showing something like "65% not charging" the whole time. I went to Lenovo's "Energy Management" tool and started "Battery Gauge Reset".The software said this will completely charge and discharge the battery and I should not use the laprop in the meantime, so I left it running the whole day. When I came back the machine was hanging: screen was dark, the keyboard did not respond. The power button was lit up, but did not react on normal push. I pushed it longer for a forced shutdown and voila. The laptop is now dead. It does not start. When I press the power button, the battery indicator LED blinks 3 times in orange and stops. The only way to start the laptop is to remove the battery, unplug the power supply from mains and shorten the mains lead to discharge any capacitors. Moreover, decided to measure the voltage coming out of the power supply with the battery in the laptop - the connecting leads i used went really hot within seconds and the voltage dropped from 19.5 to under 18.5V. I am not sure what is going on, but either the charging circuit or the battery is overloading the power supply. Any help?

grep wrote:The battery indicator in Windows was showing something like "65% not charging" the whole time. The display "nn%, not charging" is normal when the battery conservation mode has been activated.  The thinking is that the batteries in laptops which spend most of their time on mains power will have longer useful life if not kept at 100% charge all of the time. The value for "nn" seems to vary.  I have one version of the "Energy Management" application that uses "80" for "nn", whereas the current version of the app uses "60" for "nn".  So the value of "65" is not out of step with these values. I cannot offer you any advice to extricate yourself from the bad place where you now find yourself.  It needs someone with more knowledge than I.  Good luck. -- from CyberSimian in the UK

Can you try to:
1. Open Lenovo Energy Management on the system notification area and set battery status to "Optimized Battery Health"

2. Use the computer just with the battery and drain it up to 10% or until the system goes to sleep/hibernate. When the unit turns off or reaches 10% battery life, plug the AC adapter and observe the battery status (the charge should now be halted at 60%).

Hello. I would like to ask about the Lenovo Energy Management software bundled with my Z400. Regarding the Energy Management > Battery > "Optimized Battery Health" in particular. When the battery charges until 60%, does it internally disconnect the charger from my battery? The Power icon in the System Tray says "Plugged in, not charging". Or does the software stops the charging until 60%, and when it lowers the software allows it  to recharge again? I'm worried about getting my battery worn out immediately, as I leave my charger plugged in most of the time.

Answer:Lenovo Energy Management

hi AxiumX,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

The Optimized for Battery health is to lessen the charging and discharging from a 100% down to 0.
This helps health of the battery from wearing out fast.

When it reaches 60% a battery firmware controls the charging and on your system, It may say Plugged in not charging and sometimes the charging may stop at 59%.

Will there be a Lenovo Energy Management software version for Windows 8.1? I have install Win 8.1 last week from MSDNA an can't activate WLAN. All Drivers are working fine. When I try to activate WLAN via the Lenovo FN-Key on my S205, Windows just enaybles or disables Airplane Mode.

I just purchased 3 lenovo Y50-70 laptops. I've gotten them all configured and I was setting up the energy managemnt on them since they will be plugged in more often than not. It was successful on 2 of them but on the 3rd when I click on settings and then try to click Conservation Mode on it won't do anything, also once in settings I'm not longer able to click on any other menu or close energy management.  I have uninstalled the software and reinstalled it and no change. Any other suggestions to resolbe this issue? Thank you!

I've done for more troubleshooting. All the buttons to change the power scheme work, once I click the menu button to open up battery guage, settings, power usuage etc it the program no longer responds to clicks. I can't even close it without ending task on it from the task manager. I tried downloading the new bios for the computer and it said the bios downloaded isn't newer than what it is installed.

Hello, I recently purchased a Lenovo G510 laptop. The operating system is Windows 8 Pro (x64). I have downloaded all the drivers for the corresponding operating system from the Lenovo Support site incl. Lenovo Energy Management Driver (available version: 8.0.2.4) and installed them. My problem is the following: Because I will use the laptop almost all the time on AC power, I do not want to shorten the battery lifespan. For this reason I checked the "Optimized Battery Health" mark in the Energy Management, which should keep the battery charged at 60% when connected on AC power. It really does it, but when I turn off the laptop, the battery starts to charge again. When I turned on and Windows is loaded, the battery is not charging. Here is an example: at the end of the working day the AC adaptor is plugged in, the battery is at 60% and it's not charging. But on the next day in the morning when I turn on the laptop and Windows is loaded, the battery is at 100% fully charged. Therefore I would like to ask and I really hope if there is any fix/solution/etc. for my problem, because as abovementioned I would not like to shorten the battery lifespan. Thank you in advance!

I ordered this laptop a few months ago from Amazon and from the start it had some malfunctions like mouse glitches and speaker glitches while playing sound. I said ok I can live with that. Then progressively it started to get slower, then a few days ago the screen would suddenly turn black, so I would have to force shut down. And restarting has a 30% chance of success, if it doesn't freeze mid start-up. McAfee is newly installed and always scanning for viruses, but I can't do a full scan now without the laptop freezing and quiting. I don't know if it's a problem from windows 10 or the laptop. Maybe both. Can someone please help and advise what to do. Thank you.

Hi everyone, I am new here as well as new to laptop users. I recently baught a Lenovo essential G505s laptop which is my first laptop. I was using desktop computer since last 10 years. I have few questions about laptop's battery and lenovo's energy management tool. My laptop is mostly connected to power adapter (plugged in) all the time. So I put my laptop in high performance mode rather than power saver mode. I just want to know which is the best battery mode for me, Maximum Battery Life or Optimized Battery Health? Does keeping the laptop plugged in all the time harms the battery? And can use my laptop after detaching the battery? There is battery gauge reset option in Energy management. What's the use of it and how much time it will take to complete the process? There is an option of Hard disk drive power saver in last column of Energy Management which is turned on by default. Does disabling it improves performance of my laptop? And last question is regarging dust removal feature. Can it be used to cool the laptop when laptop get heated?

Answer:Lenovo G505s energy management

hi Dharmik,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Regarding your questions:
1. If you're plugged-in almost all the time, the best battery mode for you is Optimized Battery Health. This mode protects the battery from being overcharged (by limitting the charge around 40%-50%) and thus, prolongs the battery life.

- Link to picture

2. If you have set Optimized Battery Health as the default battery mode under the Lenovo Energy Management, keeping the AC adapter plugged-in all the time will not harm the battery as a charge limit will be set and the power will be routed to the AC adapter. The only thing that can affect the battery in this setup is the heat.

Batteries degrade overtime due to heat and everyday use. If you'll be plugged-in all the time, it will be best to remove the battery.

3. Yes, you can use the laptop without the battery.

4. The battery gauge reset does a one discharge cycle. In this article, it's stated that If the battery has much lesser capacity or does not charge at certain level any longer then this can help fix these issues.

If a certain battery lasts 2hrs when it is used, the battery gauge reset takes usually the same amount of time to discharge the battery.

5. The hard disk power saving usually works when the machine is not reading / writing data, or if it's on idle mode. If you observe that there's ... Read more

Hello everyone (I don't know if this post should be here or in the Windows 10 section, so apologies if it's in the wrong place).

I have a Lenovo Z50-70 and the upgrade to Window 10 it's ready to install. I just downloaded all drivers for Windows 10 but I noticed that there is one that doesn't have a Windows 10 version: "Lenovo Energy Management". For me, this is the most useful thing Lenovo has preinstalled in my computer, especially the conservation mode... And it would be extremely annoying to lose this utility.

So... Is Lenovo going to release a W10 version of the Energy Management tool? Either way, would the W8.1 version work anyway on Windows 10?

Thanks.

My Lenovo Y410P (64-bit edition) came shipped with Windows 8.1.  I upgraded to Windows 10 last year.  Recently, my computer began freezing, and often times would not boot up.  I was forced to re-install Windows.  All is fine now except that the Lenovo Management software is nowhere to be found.  Yes, it is available from the Lenovo website but there is no listing nor reference to that software that is compatible with the Lenovo Y410P running Windows 10 (upgrade) 64-bit.  As a result, my batter is stuck at the 60% charge with no way to change that. Can anyone tell me, definitively, if that software is still available for the Lenovo Y410P running Windows 10 Home 64-bit?  If so, where can I find it?

I have recently had to uninstall Energy Management due to a conflict between it and my media player. It was causing skips and random crashes. Still not sure as to why, but I narrowed it down through a llloooong process of trial and error. It was my understanding that this only adds "Lenovo Dynamic Graphics" power plan (which overclocks the 660m to 950mhz), but when I uninstalled it, many of my drivers crashed. I've had to reload my Intel hd4000, setpoint, 660m, motioninjoy, usb3, and synaptics drivers over the past week. All seems well at the moment, but I'm curious whether this program might control more than I thought. Im fine with loosing the fn animations, and I used MSI Afterburner to sneak the clock back up to 950mhz. Is there anything I should be concerned about?

Hello. I have a laptop Lenovo IdeaPad Y560. On the new windows installed Lenovo Energy Management Driver for Windows 7 32bit (5.3.0.9) to your website for this laptop.  And since the installation - the program does not work. Not only that, he does not respond to changes in the brightness and the screen brightness is very low - I can not delete it! When you try to delete it ... the program normally starts removing, in a window with a progress bar waiting for from 1 to 20 seconds, and gives "complete removal". So I deleted it has a total of 10 times: and through the windows, and through the CCleaner, and through the installer IN1EGC31WW5 (when you install it first deletes). All to no avail !!! Tried to install version Lenovo Energy Management 6.0 - does not work in the "Uninstall a program" is displayed for 2 Lenovo Energy Management, 6.0 but disappeared after a reboot, but this does not remove it does not go out.   I hope you will then be able to understand the problem and find a way to remove this disgrace.   Originally installed Lenovo Energy Management without connected battery.

HI dude. I got both Windows version installed on my Z510 (Win 8 & Win 7) and I can tell you the oficial LEM version from the website (v8.0.3.50) is not a full software installation actually.  If you wanna got the full LEM Version for Windows 7, you have to previously install the LEM version from the Z500 model (v7.0.3.9) and next update it with the Z510 LEM version (v8.0.3.50). Afterward, you must remove the old ACPIVPC version installed in the Control Panel > Uninstall a program. Reboot and here you are. Regards.

I hope you understand that worktime on battery depends on many conditions - mostly on intense of LCD backlight and CPU/VFA/HDD work.Anyway, you may try to simply uninstall it if you believe this will help to gain more battery life (which I doubt).

Answer:G505s Lenovo Energy Management? How/Why?

Hi Wurlitzer,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

As informed in the previous post, LEM (Lenovo Energy Management) is an interface tool which allows user-modification of system settings to make better use of available energy when running in battery mode. Function also allows you to set options for screen brightness, CPU speed and other features which might impact Laptop run time.

I have the a Lenovo Y 40-70. I've upgraded to Windows 10 and I need the "Lenovo Energy Management" program in order to fix the battery gauge, which is giving me inaccurate readings (battery dies when it's showing between 30-40%) On the Y 40-70's support page, the Energy Management driver for Windows 10 is some sort of corrupt file, only 1mb and it wont open. Any idea what's going on? The link to the faulty download file is here: http://support.lenovo.com/ca/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-y-series-laptops/y40-70-noteboo... I know my battery gauge problem has to do with a driver in the device manager called "Lenovo ACPI-Compliant Virtual Power Controller." Sadly I haven't found a way to disable this thing in Windows 10. If Lenovo has an incompatible driver on their systems, the least they can do is provide software for Windows 10 that will remedy the situation. They've got me running in circles.

Answer:No "Lenovo Energy Management" for Windows 10?

I have a Lenovo Y40-70. Same as obesechipmunk, I've upgrades to windows 10, and the battery gauge is also giving me inaccurate reading of the battery. My battery is stuck at 8% when plugged in, and it estimates 10 hrs to fully charged. The laptop doens't seem to configure with the battery. I tried uninstalling Lenovo ACPI-Compliant Virtual Power Controller and reinstalling, but it doesn't work. I updated my energy mangament using the following link: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-y-series-laptops/y40-70-noteboo...However, it doesn't seem to fix the problem. This is very upsetting. My warranty just expired for 1 month.  afuY40

Hey Everyone, I had a quick question... 1) Does setting the Processor Preference to (HIGH) in the energy management software result in overclocking of the processor ? 2) Is it safe to keep it always on High (as opposed to Low or Auto) Thank You

I upgraded my IdeaPad from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. I noticed that the Energy Management software was still version 1, which is for Windows 8, instead of version 8, which is for Windows 8.1. I uninstalled the old version and I installed the new version. It seemed to install OK, but I cannot get the notification area icon to appear. I click the customize area for this icon and it says it's not active. I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it but the icon will still not appear. Also, there is not an application for this when I go to the app page. Thanks in advance for your help.

Answer:Lenovo Energy Management Icon

I talked to tech support today. They could not fix the issue. The old energy manager still works but the new one won?t. Hopefully there will be a software update to fix this issue sometime.

I have an Acer Aspire One, and it's just something to get my Facebooking and Internet Surfing done. I want to ask if there's a way I could get an alternative to the Lenovo Energy Management program onto it. Recently, I got the Lenovo y510P, and I have become especially intrigued with the Lenovo Energy Management, as it allows for me to optimize the system for the best battery health. In the past I would just pull the battery out and rely on an outlet in hopes that this will maximize my battery health for the day I'll need it the most. I'm usually at home using my laptop anyway, so I'm near an outlet. I'm hoping that I don't have to do the tedious task of removing and reinserting my battery everytime I switch from stationary to portable anymore if I can get an alternative to the Lenovo Energy Management for my Acer, an alternative that will allow for me to maximise my battery's health with the click of a button.

weilunt0219,

You can go the power options in the Control Panel and set it to the maximum battery life setting and can adjust the advanced settings as needed.

Hi guys, I have a y410p in good condition.. no problems.. (yet!) I want to ask about abou t the settings in Lenovo Energy, 1. what does the Hard disk Drive Power save really do? and why would'nt i just change my settings in the Windows Power managment settings.. I can tell my hard drive when to sleep etc.. in windows.. why do i need to turn that on in Lenovo Power Managment? 2. Same Goes with Power Plan - I assume this just changes settings that I can change myself (since I'm kinda a hardcore tweak user) like brightness and power settings on my intel video card and power settings (again) in the Windows power advanced setttings.. 3. It appears the ONLY reason I would want Lenovo Energy Management installed on my system is for the Battery Control it gives.. This is the ONLY reason and thing I can see that is good for me with having the Lenovo Energy Management installed on my system.. I can not find in windows where to set my battery to not charge higher than 60%.. only Lenovo Energy Management does this.. Conclusion - I really don't want Lenevo Energy Management installed on my computer becuase I use windows power settings.. but I do need the battery control that only Lenovo Energy Management can set.. I can set everything else in windows already (hard drive power, Power saver- Balanced-High performance etc..) 4.So will I only lose Dust removal and Battery optimization when I uninstall Lenovo Energy Management? because I can control power set... Answer:Lenovo Energy Management questions

OOps.. i resolved this myself.. anything you choose works out..  if you select balanced in the lenovo energy program, it selects balanced in the windows power options as well..

According the official technical specifications on Lenovo's website, the IdeaPad 520 (15IKB) notebook has two USB 3.0 ports and one type-C port. But on my IP 520, the two USB-A ports don't have the expected blue colour coding for USB 3.0 and also they both don't have the (SuperSpeed) SS-USB symbol. Instead they have the regular USB trident symbol. Only the type-C port has the SS-USB symbol. The Windows Device Manager lists three USB related drivers viz.Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.0 (Microsoft)USB Composite DeviceUSB Root Hub (USB 3.0) So, the IP 520 really does have two USB 3.0 ports or it's a gimmick?

Answer:Lenovo ideapad 310 - 15ikb | how to upgrade the CPU ghz

Hello Tomer504Thanks for using the Lenovo forums. This will be a little more complicated that just telling the CPU to go up in performance, you will have to make sure that your CPU is capable to be overclocked, have a look on the following site, thi should help you walk through how to and what to do.

Hi I am looking to upgrade the RAM on my Lenovo Ideapad 510-15IKB Laptop of model type - 80SV00FEIH. It currently has 8 GB DDR4 RAM and I was wondering what the max capacity is? Also, how many slots are available and among them, are any free? And to upgrade RAM, by opening the back of the laptop, will my warranty be voided? Sorry if this has already been answered. Thanks Sidzzz

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad 510-15IKB RAM Upgrade

Hi Sidzzz,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Product specifications shows:
12GB max / PC4-17000 2133MHz DDR4, 4GB memory soldered to systemboard, one 260-pin SO-DIMM socket

Similar to the RAM specs from the hardware manual (page 26):
DDR4-2133 MHz, SODIMM × 1, on board × 1 (max 8 GB)

The single available bank (page 37) which you currently have 4GB DDR4 2400 SoDIMM MEMORY 01AG707,  can be upgraded with 8GB RAM (+4GB soldered onboard) for a maximum of 12 GB as the same with 80SV00XJUS machines.

In general upgrade do not void the warranty as long as no parts are damaged during the upgrade.
Further discussion here.

Hope this help answer your query.

Regards
