Preferred Solution: Malwarebytes version 3.1.0 beta available

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Thanks.

Answer:Vista beta is beta of what version?

Yes RC1 is Vista Ultimate. If you setup user accounts /w password and not automatically logging in then you see that right at the bottom of the logon screen. As well as under the system properties. Actually there quite a few places that displays it.

Have fun with it and give as much feedback to Microsoft as possible.

I've been running MBAM since it was originally in Beta back in the v 0.85 days.... anyway- Once the Beta became 'non Beta' and the program went to a full version with active protection, I bought it, and have been running it HAPPILY ever since (MBAM rocks!). So, today, a milestone was reached with the release of the 1.50 Beta. I've installed it, and so far the only real difference I have seen is in the IP blocker. Now when an IP is blocked, MBAM shows the process/program responsible for linking to the IP address, and (as usual) the IP address itself is also shown. A huge improvement IMO. There are also some smaller GUI changes, but these are minor IMO in comparison to revealing the source process of the IP initiation....

If anyone has any other observations related to this v1.50 Beta, feel free to add to this thread and/or to discuss!!!

:-D

The following information is excerpted from https://forums.malwarebytes.org/topic/190369-announcing-beta-of-malwarebytes-30-a-next-generation-antivirus-replacement/
Malwarebytes 3.0...  is built to provide comprehensive protection against today’s threat landscape so that you can finally replace your traditional antivirus.
Our engineers have spent the last year building this product from the ground up and have combined our Anti-Malware, Anti-Exploit, Anti-Ransomware, Website Protection, and Remediation technologies all into a single product which we simply call “Malwarebytes.” And it scans your computer 3-4 times faster!
When we launch Malwarebytes 3.0, we are confident that you can finally replace your traditional antivirus, thanks to our innovative and layered approach to preventing malware infections using a healthy combination of proactive and signature-less technologies...
But rest assured, we will continue to support compatibility if you choose to use a third-party antivirus or other security software alongside Malwarebytes 3.0... We built Malwarebytes 3.0 to be compatible with all major antivirus software, even Windows Defender and Microsoft Security Essentials.

Feeling as I do, and expecting that a multitude of others feel the same....that one product is not necessarily the best solution for comprehensive Internet security, I applaud their efforts that will allow we users to configure security products in the ways we deem to be the best for our unique situatinos.
Although Panda AV nags me every day to upgrade, I appreciate that it is installed and working, and simply close the little roll up.

A new problem in malwarebytes beta 2.00.0.0502. everyone who will upgrade to database 2014.02.14.07 will see the following problem (just in beta 2.00.0.0502. lower version will not experience that problem)
Mbam staff working on the problem
see further information here: https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=142302

Temporary fix for the problem;
after the bad update occurs, exit Malwarebytes Anti-Malware completely via the Exit option in the tray.
Open the Program Files folder for Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and open the folder found there named ${vars.product.appdata}
Move the 3 files found there to the folder C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
Open MBAM again and it should now be working.
Remove any scheduled update you have for now and do not update manually until we give the all clear that the issue is fixed.

This thread is discussing a new product from the MalwareBytes team.
It is currently undergoing BETA-testing --- meaning it's not a final/"polished" release, and may contain several "bugs".   Anyone who downloads/tests this should consider him/her-self a "guinea pig".
We normally don't post about BETA products, but given MalwareByte's stellar reputation, I thought this warranted an exception.
Note:   The official abbreviation for this product is MBARW (RW= RansomWare)... which should not be confused with MBAR (R=Rootkit).
DISCLAIMER:   I have NOT downloaded/tested this product.
The following was excepted from https://blog.malwarebytes.org/news/2016/01/introducing-the-malwarebytes-anti-ransomware-beta/
Introducing Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware Beta
For the last four years, ransomware has evolved into one of the biggest threats to cyber security that I’ve seen in a long time. Names like CryptoLocker, CryptoWall, and CTBLocker keep average computer users and IT security Jedis alike up at night. For good reason: Ransomware is cunning, effective, and proliferating, and the cyber security industry hasn’t really had an answer for it...
Ransomware is easy to understand but hard to beat. It infects the machine, encrypts all files and then demands payment to get the files back...
The ransomware we see today is so sophisticated that the advanced encryption it uses makes it impossible to... Read more

Answer:MalwareBytes Anti-RANSOM *BETA*

The following was copied/pasted from https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/177751-introducing-malwarebytes-anti-ransomware/
We are very excited to announce the release the first Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware beta! As mentioned in the blog announcement by Marcin this beta is extremely exciting as it introduces the most innovative approach in the market today for protecting against ransomware; a completely proactive and signature-less technology that is able to detect and block even the most dangerous of ransomware variants like CryptoWall4, CryptoLocker, Tesla, and CTB-Locker. Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware monitors all activity in the computer and identifies actions which are typical of ransomware activity. It keeps track of all activity and, once it has enough evidence to determine a certain process or thread to be ransomware, blocks the infection and quarantines the ransomware before it has a chance to encrypt users' files. During development Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware has blocked every single ransomware variant we have thrown at it. We are extremely satisfied with its results and are excited to bring this technology to our user community for further testing. As this is the very first beta we do encourage beta users to install the product in non-production environments for testing purposes. Installation is very straight forward. Simply download and install from the link below. You can safely install Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware beta alongside Malwarebytes Anti... Read more

Hello everyone--

We?re very excited to announce the first public beta for Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.1!

This release consists primarily of a number of user interface enhancements, so we?re anxious to get this build in your hands to see what you think.

We want to hear your feedback?good and bad. Simply create a new topic in this forum to post your feedback.

Please note that this this is NOT a final Release Candidate ? this is the first beta and we definitely plan to continue addressing issues throughout the upcoming beta period.
What?s new:
Brand new UI design! Much cleaner look with a toned-down color scheme.
Improved scan flow ? all scans now automatically check for and apply the latest database updates so you're always scanning with the latest protection. (Exception: this will not occur if you have the option to ?check for updates before scanning? disabled.)
You?ll automatically be prompted to download new program updates for the beta whenever they?re available. You can check back to this thread for details on the latest changes included in the new versions.
Simplified Quarantine flow ? threats detected are pre-selected for removal and users are presented with a single ?Remove Selected? button. Clicking ?Remove Selected? quarantines all checked items. If you uncheck any threats you will see a new dialog asking what action should be taken on the unselected items: Ignore Once, Ignore Always, Cancel.

Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware 0.9.18.797 Beta 9
VERY IMPORTANT!!:
[1] Malwarebytes 3 and MBARW - It is actually not possible to run the free version of Malwarebytes 3 and the standalone Anti-Ransomware Beta side-by-side, as they have components in common and are not designed to run in this way. If you wish to have both Malwarebytes on-demand scanning and Anti-Ransomware then a Premium license is the best option.
(2) Using an older version? - Please note that if you did NOT receive an upgrade prompt from within an earlier beta version, you must first uninstall any earlier BETA versions prior to installing BETA 8. We have now enabled automatic upgrades for Beta 9, but they will take a while to get out to the entire population. If in doubt, you're always safe to do a full uninstall / reinstall.

Introducing the Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware Beta

For the last four years, ransomware has evolved into one of the biggest threats to cyber security that I?ve seen in a long time. Names like CryptoLocker, CryptoWall, and CTBLocker keep average computer users and IT security Jedis alike up at night. For good reason: Ransomware is cunning, effective, and proliferating, and the cyber security industry hasn?t really had an answer for it.

But we?ve got one now.

Ransomware is easy to understand but hard to beat. It infects the machine, encrypts all files and then demands payment to get the files back. Ransomware works so well that most variants will even remove themselves when the damage is done, knowing you have the choice of either paying the ransomware author to get your files back, or risk losing them forever.

The ransomware we see today is so sophisticated that the advanced encryption it uses makes it impossible to get your files back without paying the ransom. Even using backup systems isn?t an effective countermeasure because ransomware would actively look for different types of backup systems and encrypt them, too.

Most of today?s security software simply cannot protect you from ransomware. Ransomware does not act like traditional malware: some are automatically updated every day, and even use polymorphic (shapeshifting!) code to evade detection. This makes it exceedingly hard to detect.

This is the type of challenge we love. When ... Read more

hi Guys,

So after noticing my browswer was getting a lot of adds, I downloaded Malwarebytes. I found malware, but wasn't able to remove it.

Then I tried the beta root kit remover, and even the 'fixdamage.exe', but everytime I reboot the scanner keeps finding the same stuff.

It's 3 variations of an Adware.. I think it's a rootkit?

I'm just wondering if I should download an offline scanner or something (like a live disc), or if anyone has any tips?

Thanks so much!

Thank you

Answer:Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0.3 Beta Test

I will look into it, thank you.

UPDATE:

Installed and it works just fine in windows 10 technical preview. The only thing is a visual glitch on the top bar of the app. (see screenshot) Every other function seems to work quite well in blocking threats and scanning and updating etc. (other than the known issues.) For scanning I did have scan for rootkits checked, and I enabled the explorer context entry. It also seems more responsive. I also have everything under advanced settings checked. Updated over top latest stable malwarebytes.

I will later test win 8 and windows 7, as well as vista.

I am overjoyed to announce the first public beta of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0. I know you've been waiting a very long time for this and so have we! The purpose of this beta is to get feedback from the people we care most about -- our users!

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0 ships with a completely redesigned user interface to make the product easier to use, more informative, and provide quicker access to key functionality. We have built in and improved our Anti-Rootkit and Chameleon self-protection technologies that have been in beta for the past year. Additionally, we've rewritten Malicious Website Blocking and improved native x64 support. Most importantly, our detection and removal engine was significantly improved under the hood and kicks even more malware butt! This is the biggest rewrite we have ever undertaken, and we hope you?re thrilled with the result.

With the launch of 2.0, we'll also be moving to a subscription licensing model, $24.95 per year. As more and more people have come to rely on us for malware protection and cleanup, our costs in bandwidth, hosting fees, infrastructure, salaries of our researchers, QA department, and more have grown immensely. Though our company is about more than just making money, we are a company and we do have to make money to pay our staff to continue doing what they love, which is fighting malware. The subscription model will help us to be sustainable for the future while stayin... Read more

Malwarebytes has released a beta of their anti-rootkit product, which can be downloaded here:http://downloads.malwarebytes.org/file/mbarThe program has the following features.Rootkits have the ability to infect the very core or ‘root’ of an operating system and hide the existence of certain processes and malicious programs from normal methods of detection. Rootkits can also enable continued privileged access to a computer to make system level modifications, leaving the system heavily compromised.Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit (MBAR) is designed to counteract malicious attempts to subvert base core subsystems of an OS which usually make it impossible to detect rootkits using conventional methods. Besides the general functionality of allowing a user to detect and remove rootkits automatically, MBAR contains a set of tools allowing to an experienced user to perform some actions to locate unknown rootkits and remove them manually. To protect itself from being terminated by a rootkit or other malware, MBAR uses Malwarebytes Chameleon technologies which prevent modification or removal or MBAR by malware which may reside on the system. This allows MBAR to complete the detection and removal process regardless of such attacks. MBAR uses an active internet connection to keep its database up to ensure that the most current definitions are used in order to detect and remove the latest 0-day rootkits.Scope of Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit:Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit (MBAR) has been teste... Just a bit more about the tool which is being used on the MBAM Malware Removal area of their forum - With warnings for backup first and only specific use.Its potentially a dangerous tool as it deals with the mechanism that controls booting of the computer. It was felt that it should only be provided to Trusted and Expert advisers until the tool was a bit more stable. It is now a public beta tool. It doesn't mean it still can't cause an issue but we feel it's been through enough testing that it is highly unlikely to cause a booting issue for most usersStill sounds like one for the Experts only and care in its use - Not a play toy - Always use ERUNT or similar at this time for backing up -

Today we have released the beta of our next-generation product, Malwarebytes 3.0! This product is built to provide comprehensive protection against today?s threat landscape so that you can finally replace your traditional antivirus.

Our engineers have spent the last year building this product from the ground up and have combined our Anti-Malware, Anti-Exploit, Anti-Ransomware, Website Protection, and Remediation technologies all into a single product which we simply call ?Malwarebytes.? And it scans your computer 3-4 times faster!

When we launch Malwarebytes 3.0, we are confident that you can finally replace your traditional antivirus, thanks to our innovative and layered approach to preventing malware infections using a healthy combination of proactive and signature-less technologies. While signatures are still effective against threats like potentially unwanted programs, the majority of our malware detection events already come from our signature-less technologies like our Anti-Exploit and Anti-Ransomware; that trend will only continue to grow. For many of you, this is something you already know, since over 50% of our customers already run Malwarebytes as their sole security software, without any third-party antivirus. But rest assured, we will continue to support compatibility if you choose to use a third-party antivirus or other security software alongside Malwarebytes 3.0.

With the combination of our Anti-Malware ($24.95), Anti-Exploit ($24.95) and Anti-Ransomwa... Read more

Been using this since it was ExploitShield, before being acquired by Malwarebytes. It works silently, without issues and very small footprint. I can recommend this wholeheartedly.

Its proprietary technology protects you in that critical period between the release of a new exploit and its subsequent security patch. New Features:

Answer:Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit (MBAE) 0.09.5.1000 BETA Released.

Thank you for posting the announcement. For those reading this topic, please note that this program is a beta version of a product and not completely tested to ensure its stability or reliability. What is beta software? After an initial round of in-house testing, software publishers often release new programs to be tested by the public. These pre-release versions are called beta software, usually denoted by a "b" in the version number, e.g., Netscape Navigator 2.0b5. Since the publisher couldn't possibly test the software under all possible conditions, it is reasonable to expect that wider use of the software may uncover problems that were not discovered during in-house testing. The publisher expects to be notified when users find such problems so that the program can be fixed before its official release. In general, you should expect to run into bugs whenever using any piece of beta software. These bugs may range in severity from minor features that don't work to problems that cause your computer to crash. You should decide whether the benefit of new features in a beta program outweighs the risk of program instability before choosing to use a piece of beta software. You should also be aware ...you should not expect the same level of support as you would receive for an official release version of the program.Beta version software is useful for internal demonstrations, testing and previews to select customers, but may be unstable and not yet ready for a release candidate stage. Answer:Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit (MBAE) 0.10.0.1000 BETA Released.

We've re-architected the underlying application so it now runs as a standard Windows Service instead of as a stand-alone EXE which used to be launched from the TaskScheduler. This new architecture means that MBAE now works in multi-user environments (multiple logged-on users and server environments) and it also limits the operations that non-admin users can perform. Therefore only admins can stop the protection, clear the logs or add/delete exclusions.Nice improvement.

I manually updated on top of 2.0.2.1009, without turning off Self Protection (SP), and a clean install was not necessary for me. A system restart was however mandatory.
After the restart, my first non-defragmented HDD Hyper Scan, with all options off, took 2:24 - a Threat scan, with everything checked, took 8:42. Yes - these times are relative but impressive and should still be representative.

I know very little about computers/viruses etc etc, but always seem to have managed ok with AVG. Recently my computer slowed right down, and I was advised to install "Malwarebytes" which found 5 viruses. AVG didn't seem to have identified that I had a problem. Should I bother downloading the new AVG Version 9, or should I just stick with this new "Malwarebytes" thingy???Thanks

Hi! This can be moved to the appropriate section. I wanted everyone here to know that Malwarebytes has a new version 3.05. I just now down loaded and installed it. It removed my Beta version of Malwarebytes Anti Exploit, and combined them it in this new version! It is my understanding that Malwarebytes has now combined some of their programs in this new version. Here's link where you can learn more about this new version. If I find more details, I will post back here! If any member has more details, please post here.https://blog.malwarebytes.com/malwar...s-replacement/

Malwarebytes released version 1.61 today.
I tried to update using the auto update on a W7 x64 PC and it failed.
I ran the mbam-clean uninstall utility and downloaded/installed version 1.61 without issues.
Had to re-register and reconfigure the options.
I'll wait a few days to see if others report auto update issues to MBAM before updating other PC's.

I just went to MBAM website and (I think) purchased the professional version for $24.95. I downloaded the installer and installed (version 1.50.1.1100). Now when I click on the desktop icon and go to "Protection", it says "Purchase our powerful protection module to actively protect your system from malicious software". When I click on "Purchase" it takes me back to the page where I just charged $24.95 for the electronic download. do I now have the "Professional" version that will run in real time? It also says my download is valid until 4/17/2011. What does that mean, please? I'm sure it doesn't mean I have to renew it next month...right?...Thanks...Fred

I have this running on 10TP and 8.1 on Surface Pro 3. Even though it has adopted a lot of the ever-trending flat look, the first thing that will catch your eye is the new progress bar. MUCH cleaner and intuitive than the text dropdown progress in 2.03. Also seems to be snappier. In all, I like it. A keeper.
