Lack of email contact to write complaint about the Tech Support -Yoga 710 case with fan noise

Question: Lack of email contact to write complaint about the Tech Support -Yoga 710 case with fan noise

I'm sorry to write this kind of issue here on a public forum, but was forced to and I can see that I'm not alone In a short words ... after a long service repair of my Yoga 710 and a long way of proveing to the seller that the hardware has a defect (fan is blowing straight to the microphone making noise), I've got money refound on 03.04.2017 !Total time that I was without funds and without a laptop lasted from 10.01.2017 to 03.04.2017 (83 days, including Lenovo Service Support - 32 days). I have got only one sorry word from Lenovo nothing more. That's all for my effort to contact them, explain everything, loosing my nerves, all invonvieniences at my bussiness etc. I asked finally what will you do if I want to buy new Lenovo product in the future (maybe small discount for me) but didn't get answer until today...Where should I write an email concerning complaint about Tech Support ?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Can anyone tell me how to get Kaspersky to react and give support. I reported a problem 2 months ago, Kaspersky have taken on average 7 days to respond to each e-mail when they ask me to carry out various test. I am now no further forward and KIS is letting Malware in. Has anyone found a clever way to put the proverbial boot in? It is sad that their support is so slow when they get such an accolade for their IS package from PC Advisor.

Answer:Kaspersky Tech Support or lack of

No Security program can stop everything that is why you need good back up the likes of Malwarebytes or Superantispyware. Are they false positives or genuine malware infections.

Dear Lenovo, I am writting to complain about your equipment as well as the technical support team you have in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (GBM Dominicana; GBM-DR). I bought a brand new Yoga 2 Pro laptop from a friend that brought it from the U.S. last year, in its box and seals intact, full warranty, for around 900 USD. After having it for 9 months (and roughly 6 of use), and several visits to GBM-DR, this faulty equiment is useless!! Here is the recap: 1. First, a "tag" was making contact with the CPU fan. GBM-DR ordered a new fan and change it. 2. Then, the WIFI connection kept dropping. After checking, GBM-DR decided to replace the wifi card, which took like two months. As you can imagine, I spent whole month using the computer for non-internet purposes. 3. Afterwards, I took it again to GBM-DR because this time the machine did not turned on. I demanded for a new equipment since this one was giving me so much trouble, but the people at GBM-DR told me that ordering a replacement for this machine was not possible. The motherboard was damaged and the repairment would take 2 months. I was left 2 1/2 months without computer, and very unsatisfied. 4. When they returned it, the keyboard lights weren't turning on, so I had to come back. They fixed that right away. 5. Lastly, on last december I brought the computer because the screen started to flicker and black out for no reason. The people at GBM-DR told me that my warranty was over and I ... Read more

Answer:Complaint about Yoga 2 Pro, & Technical Support in...

The same thing happened to me. I haven't even used the computer for the last 3 months because "support" just kept saying they couldn't help me because it was a software problem - and there was NOTHING on my computer but what it came with. Still under warranty and I'm out of the USA, I too feel cheated. I told the service to look up the problem on this site because it's not only me. She said, it's only me. Nice! I can send this back to America. It's taken about 30 hours of trying to fix it myself, now I just avoid it. I know this is a problem with the configuration of LENOVO and Windows 10 because the same things happened when I updated my Lenovo Yoga Pro 2 from Windows 8 to 10. I'm overwhelmed and unsatisfied to say the least.

Last week I downloaded phony software and had pop-ups galore, along with one that couldn't be closed and had no icon in the task bar that told me I needed to "Call Microsoft Support Immediately". I uninstalled all programs installed that day, but whenever I opened the internet it would redirect me to some weird search site and any other website I typed in would be redirected to this bull **** "live tech support" page, then the internet would close after a few seconds.

I ended up calling the number on that pop up that wouldn't go away because I was clueless and freaking out. I don't remember the number but they had me give them remote access and "evaluated" my computer, telling me this and that about how other IP addresses were in my network and I had a Koobface worm, blah blah blah. I believed them because I am very gullible. He told me I will need a "level 3 tech" and gave me "two options" of places that can fix this issue. One was more expensive (I know it was phony now) and I would have to take my computer states away to get it fixed, so I picked what seemed to be the more reasonable option.

They "transferred my case" to Right Help Desk at 1-855-936-7543 and said it would cost $169.99. At this point I still believed them. When I got to Right Help Desk they told me it would be another hundred something for the 1 year coverage and I told them that I didn't have anything more on my credit card s... Read more

Does anyone have an email address that will put me in contact with someone in Canada? I spent three hours trying to get help that wasn't through the telephone, telling half a dozen people that I couldn't use the phone to get help. Technical support won't chat with people in Canada and I just jumped through a dozen hoops, only to end up in the same place. If anyone could please offer any kind of advice that would be greatly appreicated. Thank you.

Hello Everyone, I have spent a bit of time browsing these forums looking for answers to my solutions. All of these issues have cropped up in other posts and it appears none have really been solved. I will discuss what my issues are and what my current work-arounds are. 1: Sticky Touch Screen: The touch screen occasionally (once per week-ish) will get the sensor "stuck" in the top corner. At first it appeared similar to the Microsoft/Wacom-issue that no-one is in a hurry to fix. But first I changed my touch settings to show the dot where it is being pushed. Next time the issue happened, it took two restarts, but then I just disabled the touchscreen completely in device manager. Not a great solution since I bought this because it was a convertible.2: Bad WiFi Adapter: I have updated and re-installed drivers but the Wifi adapter is just plain crappy compared to other computers in my business and household. About 2 times a day the adapter will just turn off, or disable itself. Sometimes I can disable and reenable in device manager and sometimes I have to restart.  3: Occasional glitchy screen and less occasional random shutdown: Once a month (bought this in Aug 17) the computer will exhibit even more bizarre glitchy behavior like shut down, freeze or screen glitch.  To me it seems my issues are hardware related, since theres more than 1 issue, I am guessing motherboard (what are the chances of a good motherboard and bad ethernet adapter, touchscreen ... Hello, I sent my T61 notebook on 13th November for servicing purposes and the support person told me that it would take a minimum of 8-13 business days to receive the serviced notebook.  However, I received the notebook on 19th November itself, and this period of 6 days includes the weekend also. Is there any email address that I could use to inquire (using case number) about what kind of servicing tasks were performed on the notebook, or if there was a need to replace any specific component etc.   Thanks,Carla

Answer:Email contact for inquiring about existing case number

Normally, there's a sheet included with the returned laptop indicating what type of work was done and which components (if any) were replaced... Have you received anything in the box with your T61?

I'm going to post to the forum, twitter and facebook in addition to my recent phone conversation in the hope that one avenue results in a response from somebody other than a minimum wage customer service agent. You have some serious improvement to do with your customer experience around the yoga line. December 2012: Bought my first Yoga 13. Had issues with wifi (which I thought were unique to me).Late December 2012: Returned to store and got a replacement model which had more issues (HDD kept disconnecting)January 2013: Returned to store and upgraded to the core i7 model (hoping new model would have improved build).Mid January 2013: Screw fell out of the bottom of the laptop! Returned to Lenovo for service. Received back almost 2 weeks later. Keyboard not secured well after service but liveable.Late August 2013: Power died completely on laptop. Returned to Lenovo for service.Mid September 2013: Laptop returned over 2 weeks later with new motherboard.Today: Noticed that tech didn't verify the spec on my laptop and replaced the core i7 CPU and 8gb ram with the base core i5/4Gb model. Called support and I have to send it back to Lenovo for the same slow repair process. Please respond asap with somebody who can offer me something a little more impressive than a free FedEx mailing label! Honestly, how difficult is it to have a QC person review the key components of the laptop (CPU, Memory, SSD) to make sure that the correct components go inside the ma... There used to be a well-hidden location on the Symantec Web site where SOME assistance with their software could be handled by email--anyone know if that still exists--I could not locate it.

I need their help to determine how to solve the inability of the latest LiveUpdater to successfully update the Norton 2005 AntiSpam Components and Norton 2006 Norton AntiVirus Norton Program Update (English).

Although I have been a loyal Norton user since Peter Norton started the company, I will NEVER use their products again.

It is also amazing that with updated antivirus definitions, one or two of the new Zlob Trojans got into my computer and Norton could not find them or keep them out, although Panda and Ewido's online scans found these Trojans once my computer was infected.

Norton discovered a virus on my computer yesterday named W32.HLLW.Gaobot.gen

I could not repair, so I tried to download 'fix' file and I couldn't get on the Symantec website. I can't run liveupdate, and no matter what site I go to to get to Symantec it says not found.

I went to my neigbors and downloaded the fix, did the fix, reformated my hard drive and loaded XP home, (needed to do this and thought might as well now) got everything reloaded, installed, no problem, except the Norton, still can't live update or even get on their site

This morning I woke up to find my Norton open, saying I had the same virus again, I again, did the fix, says it is fixed but still cannot get on Nortons site?

I don't know if settings are wrong, I messed with everything under the internet security, added norton/symantec as trusted sites. I would like to just email symantec tech support, but I can't find their email address anywhere, I have even tried to guess at what it is but they came back

HELP...please someone, tell me how to fix my problem or let me know the tech support addy.

Kindest regards,

So I am sitting here on my MacBook Pro which in my opinion does not have any wireless issues whatsoever, it works. I still own this ThinkPad with a garbage wireless card, and I feasted my eyes on an Intel 7260 but lo and behold, it isn't on the whitelist! Scouring eBay and Amazon I did find a FRU, but would the number of that FRU be the same on the Hardware list? Lets see, well I cannot even find it. All I get are Page Not Found errors which to me is a hilarious joke of Lenovo's support. What does this mean for me? Is my X230 at a very very unnecessary end of life? Should I like, fork out 1400 for an "upgraded" model that probably won't fix most of my problems? My problems is money and saving money. Should i now look elsewhere? No, because I'd rather keep my money to actually FIX my current laptop's problems (the N2200 is a garbage card and would like to replace it with something that's up to date to todays technology but that isn't happening by the sounds of it) I am frustrated with my current laptop's problems and it's having a large effect on my studies. And possibly you can also lose customers by inadequate non-existent support and failure to give us the freedom to actually let us upgrade for those who do. For those who don't, more like.

A browser hijacker snaked its way onto my computer. The moment it happened McAfee popped up saying that it had found and cleaned two trojans and warned me about a PUP. Well clearly something got through because the hijacker is alive and well. I ran a quick scan and then a deep scan with McAfee and it didn't catch anything. I ran Malebyte, Spybot, and Ad-Aware. Still nothing. So I used the McAfee support feature.

I chatted with a guy who was clearly using pre-designed responses, and after leading me on for a minute or two, s/he told me that s/he wanted to route me to a specialist who would take control of my computer and fix the issue all for a cool 89.99. I said that's preposterous because there are several local tech guys who will do it for only 50 bucks. I said that I expected a better price because I had already paid for the McAfee subscription to do a job it had failed to do. S/he told me to contact Dell (my computer is a Dell) for more options and then ended the chat session.

I'd like to talk to an actual person, but the phone support option costs money (God knows how much) .

Are there any subscription based Anti Virus programs that have good support? Are there any that entitle the user to reduced prices for virus removal?

Hi, Im not really sure if this is the right place to post, however I felt the need to voice my dissatisfaction somewhere at least. I own a x200 tablet, for which I purchased an upgraded next business day on site warranty upgrade, as I use this for taking notes at university and it is critical that it remain operational. Recently when rotating the screen into tablet mode I would loose all screen connectivity and have to spend some time rotating the screen this way and that till connectivity was restored. Hence i preceded to make use of the next business day support and logged a call for support. That same day I got a call form an agent to tell me the call had been logged and the technician would call me to arrange a call out, this was on a Tuesday. The technician only called on Thursday to arrange to come on that Friday. No reason was given for the slow response or lack of next day on site support. The technician arrived the next day to service my tablet and took approximately 3 hours to install a replacement screen cable, only to find (after entire reassembly) that the cable was broken. And preceded to undergo the entire process to return the broken cable. It should be noted that I was less then impressed with the care he took with the tablet, as he dropped the unprotected panel onto the table more then once. He then left telling me he would call later to arrange the next call out. I got called the same day and told that a part wou... Read more

Answer:Faulty Screen support complaint

it's a shame that the tech was careless when he replaced the cable. and that it took 3 days to get out there for next day support.  if the service agency had the cable on hand, yes, he should have been there the next day.  i run a service agency for hot tubs.  i'm the warranty service in my area for different makes of spas.  i can't stock parts for every model of hot tub that i service.  if i get a warranty call, i try to diagnose the problem over the phone, if i can't then i go to the tub and diagnose the problem and if i have the part on hand, i fix it.  if i don't have the part, i have to order it and sometimes the mfg. has it backordered and then we all have to wait.  in the case of a computer, most of the time everybody knows what needs to be replaced before the tech gets there.  your next day warranty means that a tech will be there the next day to diagnose it. that doesn't neccesarily mean that he will have the part to fix it. and if it was diagnosed over the phone then there's no sense for him to show up the next day if he doesn't have the part, right?  i agree that all warranty departments everywhere should stock all the parts to fix everything that is under warranty.  but in the real world, that just isn't true. if the money to pay for that screen had to come out of the tech's pocket, i'll bet he would have been a little more careful.  i know this doesn't help much, but i just wanted you to understand how warran... We had purchased one Lenovo laptop (Model :Yoga 13)(serial Number: EBxxxxxxxx ) from M/s.Nirvana Computers, Calicut on 3rd March 2014. On July 23th 2014, we found that the LCD panel was having complaint and we called up the toll free customer care, talked with an executive, send a snapshot of the LCD panel as per their demand , and they came to a conclusion that the panel is faulty. An SO number 7006209673 was created and given to us . On 20/8/2014, a service person came from HCL systems inspected the notebook and took the same to the office. On 27/8/2014, we got another SO No: 7006279294, and we got a series of mails mentioning that the spare will reach in 8th sept. On 13th September we got another mail saying that SO: 7006319554 has been created and on 15th September another mail saying that spare will be reaching by 23rd September. This was the last mail we got , and nothing happened till now. I seem to be unable to delete an unwanted contact from the list of offerings in "To:" section when starting an eMail.  (I have tried others with same result.)
"Help" section says I should highlight the unwanted, then click to "X" on right of name.
I do this, Yahoo Mail responds "Succesful Permanent Deletion", but the contact remains and is offered again in next email attempt.
I use Currently Update Firefox.  I have "deleted history" (Cleared Cache).
Guidance please ?

I have a T430s laptop and it is less than 6 months old. It starting getting blue screens within a month of purchasing it. Technical support has been helpless in trying to fix the laptop. First, tech support told me to turn update my computer daily. Then another tech support employee told me to turn OFF my auto updates. This did nothing and over a few weeks the blue screens progressively got worse. Next, tech support told me to run a diagnostic on my computer which turned up nothing. Then, they tried giving me recovery discs and a new hard drive. After that failed they took it in to replace the system board which made the blue screens worse. Then they sent me MORE recovery CDs to try to fix the problem and that also made the blue screens worse. I called tech support after this and they said they would send in a request for a replacement laptop. I was told I would hear from someone in a couple days. FIVE days later I got a called from someone asking if I wanted a replacement and I said yes. Then I was told I had to wait two more business days to get contacted about it. Another 3-4 business days later, someone called me to tell me that they would NOT be replacing the laptop despite the fact tech support could not fix the laptop. After calling tech support once again, I was told that they wanted me to send in my laptop again for up to 7 business days! This is completely unacceptable. I have had problems with this laptop almost the entire time I have owned it and no one knows... Read more

I keep receiving calls from fake MICROSOFT Tech support with various telephone numbers. Strange, they do not show up in my phone on line logs. They wanted me to go to FASTSUPPORT\763721586 ( do not use  these numbers). It is a company  called FASTSUPPORT.com. they also give you a complaint department where you can enter the number that you feel is causing you problems, the number of the LOGMEINRESCUE type remote access code. of course it is clear to them that you are suspicious and they will get rid of the  phone operator who didn't succeed. So do not bother to leave any complaint.

Morning folksJust helped a mate build pc last night with the above Asus main board, all went swimmingly and pc is running smooth and extremely quiet.Only issue we had was that he bought two 80mm case fans to ensure reasonable cooling (To compliment 120mm PSU fan and only stock AMD cooling on CPU, Asus grahics card is silent with no fan, so seemed sensible), BUT we cannot see anywhere on this board to connect any case fans at all? It's a new one to me, I've only built a few machines, but the ones I've seen have always had 3 pin case fan connectors scattered around the board, we've both checked all over this board a few times now, and cannot see a single one. there is also no mention of them in the mobo manual.Any thoughts? Is there some form of adapter to connect case fans directly to PSU?Thanks

We are Dell resellers and had placed an order for 43 Laptops - Dell Latitude 3560 with Dell on 13th June, 2016. We delivered them to our customer on Friday 17th June, 2016. On Monday 20th June we discovered that all the Laptops are faulty and are not functioning properly. They have not been able to use a single system due to touchpad issues in the entire lot
We have made innumerable calls Dell to resolve the problem, but the team is unable to identify and rectify the problem.
We have spoken to our partner account manager, regional account manager, Service Specialist and Escalation Team, requesting them to provide us with a solution at the earliest as their work is getting hampered. Our customer has to deploy the same by 1st July however they do not have any Dell Laptops functioning correctly.
How do we escalate this to the Dell management and get a replacement ASAP

When I installed Win8 on one computer I need a H.P. printer driver. So I went to H.P. support/download did not find the needed driver so I called their Tech. support. A friendly support guy looked at my system and told me my copy of Microsoft Win8 bought at Best Buy was not a legit copy, also my system had been infected and they needed to remove my Win8 clean my system and reinstall Win8. made me a deal of a reduced price of $250US I knew this was not right so I begged them good buy went to Best Buy where I have good friends in the Geek Squad. they got the needed driver and printer works fine.
Today my Netgear routher died, called Netgear to get my lifetime warranty. This also was a support in India guy said it would cost $39US to make sure it was the router I said thanks but no thanks. Took my old Netgear router back to Best Bye where I bought it three years ago and they gave me a new Netgear router. I needed setup help so called Netger as new user also in India guy was friendly looked at my system and helped me get it setup. Then he informed me my computer was under attack and my files were being read he could fix my system and protect my files for the small sum of just $85US. Well I was using a small backup H.P. computer on the Net. hardwired and it was almost never used. So I knew it was a India Tech. support scam again.

Question: Lack of HP Support

I have had so much stress after buying a brand new HP 250 G4 notebook! I've only had it a couple of months but since the start there have been browser and sound issues. Wish I'd got my  money back! I've spent hours on the phone to many HP customer support reps who have tried to fix the issues. I've even had my notebook sent off for repairs. When it was returned to me the sound issues had not been resolved despite the speakers having been replaced. I called HP again who then got me to install new drives. Issue still not fixed. My case has been kept open and I've not heard from any HP rep for a week. I know I'll have to call them! I'm fed-up and wouldn't recomment HP to anyone! Anyone else have any advice on how to get some decent support. My issue has been going on for two months! I'm based in the UK!

Answer:Lack of HP Support

@Regent

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forum.

I have a Thinkpad T450s and it is just over a year old. It still has 3 more years of warranty. Edit: Warranty type: TPJ (This product has a four year limited warranty which includes a warranty upgrade. This product is entitled to parts and labor and is entitled to Depot service).Recently the lenovo solution center gave an critical error for the HDD (Read test failure) and I submitted an online request reporting it. Without even sending me an email or contacting me, they sent me a new part and gave me zero information about it. Apparently every other person can replace a HDD now!  I have created 3 more cases calling their tech support to send the laptop for a depo repair. Everytime the request is rejected 'at the vendor' according to the customer care. Neither the customer care people or tech support can tell me why. Every time they create a new case, tell me I will receive a depo bag nect day, and I dont receive anything, have to call depo customer care and on hold for minimum 40 minutes, only to hear that the case has been rejected they dont know why.One tech support told me now I have to send the new part back before creating a new case, otherwise it will be rejected again. but he does not know how I can send the new part back. The return label sent to me was for the faulty HDD.Can anyone help? What is the point of paying for warranty if I receive this type of service?

Answer:HORRIBLE tech support and warranty support

You do not state which type of warranty you currently have, there are a few which will affect how TS will or can respond. I hope you get this resolved to your satisfaction...

Ever since I got my new pc I have been attempting to contact MS Support in the UK to answer a very simple problem.

I bought Windows Media Center from Arvato GmbH in Germany. Their email address is none functional. When I bought it it fitted into the pc great, then my pc broke.

I have a new pc and nobody seems to want to help. I called the UK support number to be told that the number has changed to a 'less expensive' number - so I dialed that. After the usual robitic responses I actually reached a human being, although speaking a barely distinguishable accent. I told her the full history. 'Now let me get this straight, you have Windows 8.1'? 'Yes' I said 'but the problem is Media Center product key not working in Add Features in 8.1 - I have paid for a product that I cannot download.'

*click* nobody on line

After several attempts to call them back, I got a phone ringing somewhere, and ringing, and ringing - you get the picture? Then another robot told me there is an error *click*

After another few attempts I gave up.

If Apple Macs were not so damn expensive I would stick MS where the sun does not shine.

Edit: Wow! finally got to 'speak' to MS via social media software. Gave them the details, we shall see ........

Answer:Microsoft - Lack of Support

I purchased windows 8 pro and media center retail product keys when 8 first came out..
I recently re-used both key numbers to install on a NEW computer. this is allowed with retail keys, but it is limited in time frame.. You can not do this with oem keys... First disconnect from your internet connection, input the key, activate via phone.. had to do it for the pro key and then again for media center

I'm curious who has had enough problems with the lack of 64 bit software support that they are considering going with the 32 bit version when Windows 7 is released in the Fall.

Personally, the lack of a Cisco VPN client, some poor software support, and a few driver issues, is really making me reconsider going with 64. Then again, I have not tried out the XP virtualization.

Answer:64 bit software support (or lack of)

Not me. I've got all the driver support I need to productively use x64. The only shortfall I see, for me, is the last of Flash for 64-bit. For that I just use 32-bit Firefox.

I am returning the Dell described below. Decided to do that on or about Sept.23 and I began applying to Dell for their RMA number. The timing of my ordering and then receiving the Dell was an almost impossible time. I am blessed with the C.O.P.D. disease and a head cold began to make it's presence known---and how it did!! Still have it and you never want the combination of these two "killers" to hit you together. I began to have my anxiety depleted when I could not get in touch with Dell; or rather no contact with any sympathetic soul and in fact, it was pretty much just the opposite. Support in India is strictly for no one. Well, they got my Scotch/Irish anger burning and I didn't give up---it was like not being able to contact anyone at Dell Support. I really and truly felt helpless; it was like no one was home.
Dell kept saying that I had 21 days to return the computer and I had among the several items in the computer box this one page of printed info with Dell logo in several places so I scanned it and sent it attached to one of my many emails to anyone at Dell I could find a name for. Today, I got my answer. Who ever approved it said he(?) was making an exception and gave his approval. Don't really see how an exception was made when the "letter" I scanned and sent to them clearly said 30 days and in which I was well within the boundary. I did threaten Dell with letting PCMag and Smart Computing know about their lack of support and commu... Read more

Has anyone had problems with the Lenovo Warranty not being honored? I sent my laptop to the Depot (USA) and they kept my laptop for 3 weeks and sent it back without repairing it.  The symptom was the laptop was overheating and shutting off. I have only owned the laptop since January, and the overheating started in April/May, i initially thought it was a 64-bit driver problem.  After sending it to the depot, they claim the following 1 - They claimed something had been spilled on the laptop, voiding the warranty2 - They were going to charge me $950 to repair3 - For my money they would not send back the replaced parts so I could verify what had happened I wanted the parts back so I could  a) see if a spill had occurred b) see if someone at a work site had sabotaged it. They sent my laptop back withyout answering any of my questions.  Starting to wonder if the warranty is worth diddly. Model is 4062-4JU.

I bought a PC from Watford Electronics last July, and emailed them to ask about a problem with Windows XP. No reply, so I emailed Microsoft in the USA and they replied: ?Thank you for contacting Microsoft Customer Service. If you are using Windows XP and it was purchased outside of North America, your best resource for assistance is the Microsoft subsidiary in United Kingdom. There are significant programming differences between North American and localized versions of software. You will be best assisted by the subsidiary that specializes in your specific version.?So I emailed Microsoft UK, and their response was that because the software is OEM (original equipment manufacturer) then support is provided by the manufacturer. Two more emails to Watford Electronics, with no response. I have just found the email address for the managing director, Shiraz Jessa, so will try him.

So with the new round of games coming out I decided it was time to add another Radeon HD 5770 to my system so I could rock some massively overclocked dual GPU goodness.

Well think again! After screwing with this system for about four weeks I have determined that CrossfireX is bogus and I should have just attempted to sell my original 5770 and buy a better single card.

I'm currently on a clean (SUPER CLEAN) install of amd_catalyst_11.5b_hotfix_8.85.6rc5_win7_may25 drivers and using the latest amd_catalyst_11.5_cap3_may26_110525 application profiles. Windows 7 Ultimate x64, everything up to date. MSI Afterburner used for overclocking profiles.. etc.

The new games I was wanting to max for their splendid eye candy:

Crysis 2 - will run in Crossfire mode with little scaling evident, although if any AA is enabled there are all kinds of screwy visual defects going on. So in the end it runs better with Crossfire disabled and graphic options set to medium.

Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed - This game will run fine with Crossfire enabled, however only GPU #2 is being used, so 0% scaling. Upon further investigation the use of both GPUs was disabled via ATI's application profiles shortly after the game was released due to major problems with it.

Total War Shogun 2 - Now this game is one that is supposed to scale well when running in Crossfire mode. WRONG, because upon launch the entire system will freeze as soon as the intro movie starts... Read more

Answer:Totally fed up with (lack of) CrossfireX support

Hey Lenovo team, The P50 website for Lenovo India ( http://shopap.lenovo.com/in/en/laptops/thinkpad/p-series/p50/ ) does not have a configurator & online purchase platform unlike the US website ( http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/p-series/p50/ ). I emailed TheDoStore support ([email protected]), requesting information on the configuration options available in India and got the following response: "... unfortunately we don't have an expert who would be able to respond to you. We would like you to please call 1800 3000 9991 where an expert will be handle your query and give you the best possible advice.  ..."  - Not the most encouraging of emails. And the 'expert' team at 1800 3000 9991 was not very competant. They could confirm only the configuration that was available in stock and could not even confirm if other options (see below) were either out-of-stock or not-launched/not-available in India. Could somebody help me out with the following?Processor: Are the i7-6820HQ & Xeon E3-1505M options available?Display: Is the 4k IPS non-touch available?Storage options? And what are the buying options for the P50?Is 1800 3000 9991 really the only option? Or are there other resellers? Is it expected to be listed elsewhere online, where I can see and verify the configuration, rather than just trust an 'expert' over a phone call?

Answer:P50 in India - Lack of support (even) for buying?

Right after i installed the 64 bit version, i assumed that chrome already had such a version released, but after a closer inspection i realised it was still a 32 bit one. After looking further into the matter i found out Google only released it for Linux users, which is beyong my reasoning.

After that, i tried firefox, which apparently had a 64 bit version available, yet it asked for no apparent reason for me to give my administrator name and pass, which were incorrect according to the installer, and it exited. It eventually crossed my mind to right click and select 'run as admin' and it worked fine.

Also, i have noticed the built in IE browser is 32 bit aswell, which seems odd.

On top of all those, is the information that adobe flash player does not support 64 bit browsers true? EDIT: i tried using the 64 bit version of firefox to browse youtube, but it keeps saying i need an additional plugin, i install the adobe plugin, yet it keeps giving me the same error, which to my mind means adobe does not support 64 bit yet?

Answer:Lack of browser support for Windows 7 64 bit?

Hi as of yet I have not seen any real support for the 64 bit browsing, so for the time being you will have to live with the 32bit unless someone else knows of a answer

In May of 2011, I purchased a ThinkPad for my son to take to college.  With it, we paid extra for a warranty that we thought would ensure that he would be taken care of, if any problems with the computer came up.  In November, the computer ceased working and after three weeks of calling and waiting (and much frustration), a technician finally came out and made a repair.  Unfortunately, after one day, the computer once again ceased to work.  This time, it was not even possible to run the diagnostics because the computer would not even boot up.  Again, I placed a phone call to the customer support number, hoping to have a resolution before finals started.  A case number was assigned and I was given the name of the "Escalation Specialist" who I was told would be calling me in 24-48 hours. While I tried to be patient, there was no call and so after almost a week, I tried calling the Escalation Specialist.  Instead of reaching him, I was greeted with a message that his voice mailbox was full, so I could not leave a message.  The recording said that I could be transferred to an operator if I pressed the # sign, but when I did that, I was told that this was not an option available to me.  When I called customer support/service back to let them know this, I was told that I should stop calling because each time I called, I was being moved down in the list of people to receive return calls.   Wow!  is this what customer service has... I purchased lenovo y500 (with nvidia 750m gpu) in May from US and had it delivered to my cousin's address in US who then brought it down to UK for me. Now I feel like I have made a terrible mistake buying lenovo product. The touchpad is jumping all around when I click, its is almost useless. Temperatrure goes up to 98/99 celsius while gaming, idle stays over 50. So I decided to send it to UK repair centre (supposedly Median repair centre), the collection process went smoth and my laptop was collected on 3rd of June, I was was told that the repair process should be done with in 10 working days but no Sir !!  it took over a month, ok so long story short got my laptop back 8th July and now its worse then before. Temperature still stays high at around 98 celsius mark, they didnt even check the touch pad and now its even worse. Also to make my life more miserable they broke the front face plate of DVD drive. I phoned them up the next day and I was told that their supervisor would call me soon. The next day I got a phone call from their supervisor explaining the reason why it took longer than expected because its a US version (the only difference between US and UK version is GPU and keyboard layout). All they needed was to replace the heatsink and the touchpad but NO instead they only replaced the fan which wasnt need at all. All I think now is how stupid I was purchasing lenovo product, they probably have the worst customer/repair service ever. Is there any email address or p... Read more

Hi
about cortana , can it write an email , i mean the body and can i use to use it and write a word document

because i bought word 2010 ,that's pretty old
thanks

Answer:can cortana write an email or can i use to write with microsoft word?

Cortana is essentially a search tool. It's a bit of a toy (my personal opinion!) which attempts (sometimes) to give a slightly intelligent answer to a very limited range and format of questions, otherwise simply opening your browser and launching a search.

It can recognise speech as well.

It can also search your indexed files and folders.

It also gives some sometimes amusing answers set up by MS to silly questions.

So no, it's not a word processor, nor is it an email client.

If you're worried about the age of your office suite, I wouldn't particularly, unless there's a particular document type you need which it doesn't support. You can always use one of the free office suites, or one of the many free word processors if you prefer.

I almost never prepare text for emails in a separate word processor, unless it's to be attached as a document.

Hope that helps.

What gives? Finally Lenovo has a nice all-in-one for students and small business that can be bought retail for cheap, but there's only one review online and it's not even on display at Best Buy. I would think that Lenovo has a hit on its hands, given the features and the price, if only someone would let people know this product existed.

Answer:Lack of marketing for the Yoga 14

I agree this thing rocks. I had to tell the guy at Bestbuy that this had a graphics card.

I notice very little discussion about the Yoga 2 13, aside from some issues with fan noise and about upgrading memory and HDD. I wonder if the Yoga 2 13 is not selling well or if owners are just quitely using an ultrrabook that "just works". Jim

Hi All,I've bought LENOVO X230 THINKPAD TABLET, i7-3520M, MULTI-TOUCH on eBay, and I got it with a broken motherboard.  I couldn't turn it on when I opened the box, and I gave it to IBM's service in Israel. Now they just told me that they don't have the part, and they are waiting to get it from the US only next week. It means that I will use my NEW computer only 2 weeks after I got it!It relly make me feel very disappointed from Lenovo's quality! Does it make sense? I needed it for work and now I'm working with a terrible computer! How is it happen to a company like Lenovo that they sell a new expensive computer with a broken motherboard??? Don't they have a quality control ? Do I deserve a compensation?

building new system using asus AV8 deluxe motherboard and MS-TECH LC-401 case which i am happy with BUT i live in Germany and the case manual is in german. i have tried to find the manual on line with no luck. the ASUS manual is fine and no problem but the case wiring seems to be different. has anybody out there used this case and could tell me where (if there is one ) the Power led cable is or if the case is not compatable. i am sorry if this is a bit vague but any help would be much appreciated.also any views on the above kit would help

Answer:wiring for ms tech lc-401 case

Hi jaggybunnet. Most cases are made in China, and you are unlikely to find wiring instructions anywhere. If your case has the usual front panel components you will have power switch, reset switch, power led and drive led. In the absence of any instructions the first things to identify are the switches. You should be able to follow the wires from the switches to the connectors. If you can't, get yourself a cheap multimeter like this one click here, but you should be able to find one in a local electronics or diy shop. Both the switches work as momentary contact when you press the button. Once you have got these right, you can identify the LEDs by trial and error. If you get the connections reversed, you won't do any damage, the LEDs just won't illuminate.

I'm trying to open a port so I can set up my FTP. I've tried port forwarding, port triggering, etc. and no one can ping me. I set up the port as 21 and, using the router's IP address, which isn't my dynamic IP address from the ISP, I'm so firewalled I can't get out.

I did go to whatismyip.com and got a number, which I pinged and got results on all four packets. When I run IPWatch, I get the router's 192.168._._ number.

BTW....this is a Dell 2350 Broadband Router -- brand new.

The wonderful thing is that Dell Support WON'T support Advanced settings -- they DON'T KNOW HOW! However, for $40, they will trnasfer me to a technician who can help me. Figure that one out. For a $70 router, I can't even get support to set it up. I'm dealing with tech support in India, so have the language problem and don't feel I should have to pay for something that the salesman assured me I could do (which was to be able to set up an FTP).

Presently I'm working on a Dell Dimension 2400 desktop with an Inspiron 8600 laptop and okay there re file sharing, etc.

I know I can't ping myself and even called my ISP provider who tried to see if he could see (ping) any or all of the ports. I'm freakin' stuck and MADD AS HELLLLLLLL at DELL!

I want to set up my Titan server so that I can share homemade media shows w/pics to family and also am working w/a company in Atlanta and I'm out here in the middle of the Pacific. I... Read more

Answer:Dell Broadband 2350 Router & lack of Support

You don't need to worry about quoting the "192.168._._ number" - everyone on the planet using NAT uses that (well nearly everyone!). It's the public dynamic IP address you may want to withhold from the rest of us!

For port-forwarding you need to set-up in the router port-forwarding to the LAN IP address of the PC on which your Titan server is operating NOT the IP address of the router. Your external user tries to FTP to your public IP address, that hits the router and the router forwards as per its config to the device on your LAN running your server: that way the external user gets through the firewall without knowing the internals of your LAN. If you have a dynamic public IP address that's obviously going to change from time to time (it does what its says on the box! - it's dynamic) which can make access for external users difficult -- so you may want to look into a Dynamic DNS service (such as offered free at www.dyndns.org or www.no-ip.com) where you can get a domain name and your external users use that rather than an IP address and the DynDNS service keeps the domain name in line with the changing public IP address.

On the ping question: it may be that the router is configured to not respond to pings from the internet - some/many routers have this facility (for security reasons) and it is often the default but I do not know the model in question. If you have the possibility in the management GUI too enebale/disable ping you can switch on... Read more

I have a household with Two Dell desktops and Three laptops the oldest laptop being a 37 month old N5110.  Kids in school you know the drill.  Of course the oldest is mine, the purchaser, the N5110, After reading about Dell not supporting this product for Windows 10 software update. I pulled my old Sony from the retired computer pile in my home office, and with a few auto updates I got a reservation for Windows 10,  So this past week I decided that if Dell drops the N5110 upgrade path I'm dropping Dell from my approved vendor list, Designating Dell to be just another Apple, stranding its customers by not providing a migration path.  The reasoning behind the Intel / Microsoft PC compared to alternatives in the 80;s was the future upgrades.  I have the Intel CPU & MS O/S but I guess I screwed up by purchasing Dells.
Oh I even tried the BIOS fix,  I already have that version installed.  I guess I just wait to see what Dell does after reading N5110 post I'm afraid that I'll have to select another Vendor, I did it to Apple in the 80's, But I'll stay with Windows and find another preferred hardware vendor if they strand this laptop with no future.  I think it is funny that someone defined the laptop lifecycle at three years at dell. Plus I use Dells in the office.

Answer:N5110 Windows 10 upgrade and lack of Dell support

I have a similar problem.  The only laptop i have is N5110 Inspiron. It was one of the best configurations of that time.
I am very much unhappy about the BIOS compatibility issue which stops me upgrading to windows 10.
I blame both Microsoft and Dell for this. Now its like none of them wants to take up the responsibility to provide a fix. If this has to be the trend in future it will become a norm to washout devices after every 3 years. Which is not value for money.
I hope dell comes up with a upgrade to BIOS or they reachout to Microsoft to fix the issue and upgrade on what ever is existing. I know its not a joke  cause every hour spent writing that code for a 1 person would cost too much of money. But again its  their duty.

I tried Windows 10 but first, I could not download my CD music to my MP3 player. Next I tried it with my Photoshop Elements and Photoshop CS5. It warned me not all components are supported.

As a photographer, I rely on Photoshop. Windows really messed up with this so called "up grade" You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig!

I have always been against Apple but this is the best Microsoft can do I am changing. There is no customer support live, just links to self help. My guess is unless they make some very quick changes, their customer base will drop considerably. Sell your Microsoft stocks!

Answer:Windows 10 - poor customer support and lack of media player

Lack of What? Depends on which edition you tried upgrading to! Oh Welcome to the Ten Forums by the way! Travenston0

Upon looking over Windows 8 a few years back and finding WMPlayer was gone from the Home version while I would likely if then going for 8(ha ha ha ha hardy har har no way hose') would have had to download WMP 13 separately as I have always set WMP since it was first seen only as a separate download until Vista came along as the default player. 8 Pro and later however have the newer versions plus 10 now sees a Windows DVD Player if you look more closely at the Start>All Apps!

The Pro editions of 8, 8.1, and now 10 have WMP as well as 10 now seeing a separate dvd player since WMP no longer supportd dvd or video playback with MS saying there are already too many media players?! So this is what you get like it or not!

Hi,

Can't seem to find any info on this anywhere & I know it's a strange question. However I would like to know if there's any reason to be concerned about this or whether this is just myself being paranoid.

Recently I've started to become very conscious about background noise affecting the operation of my PC. To the extent that I will wait until nightfall, when things have started to quieten down, before using the system.

Let me explain.

I have recently moved from the centre of London to my family home in a rural area about 35 miles out of the city. I've been living in this house on & off for about 15 years.

Around about last October, a farmer whose land our house is adjacent to has started using a bird scaring propane gun. This goes off automatically, every 15 minutes, from dawn until dusk every day. This reaches levels of 160db & is designed to replicate a gunshot.

Around about the same time I finished building my dream gaming PC. A quad 3.0Ghz processor with 4Gb RAM, Dual Nvidia SLI graphics cards giving a combined video memory of over 1600mb. Water cooling & hard disk speeds of 10000rpm

Now this noise every 15 minutes has convinced me the sound on the lower end of the frequency spectrum is affecting the operation of my system, hard drives in particular.

I have worked in Audio, at possibly the highest professional level possible, for many years. So am well aware that I'm probably talking a load of nonsense & have likely been smo... Read more

Answer:Noise Pollution & Tech Considerations..

i live in the country in the US. I live near not so civilized folk. They often fire off guns. You shouln'dt have any problems with that type of noise.

Now, if you want to test if noise will interefere with computer hardware, you can crank up a subwoofer while your harddrive is working...but I wouln't actually suggest that.

Of course, I would think it would disturb your gaming experience in that it would be quite annoying. Play a game like Bioshock and ruin the atmosphere with that frequent and regular noise.

The are problems with Intel SSD 530 and ThinkPad W520. Many people, including me, are complaining about startup problems ... see this thread also: https://communities.intel.com/thread/44258One month ago I bought an Intel SSD 530 240GB to replace the stock HDD of my ThinkPad W520 (4270CTO). When I cold-start the laptop everything is fine, but when I restart it from Windows 7 or even CTRL-ALT-DEL, the drive is not found. Both SSD and W520 has the latest firmware/BIOS.I had no problems with Intel SSD 335 240GB; Windows starts and restart without problem, but with the Intel 530 it fails when I do restart, the BIOS does not find it after a normal reset. I think BIOS implementation for W520 does not support the newer ATA feature called "Device Initiated Power Management (DIPM) for Software Setting Preservation (SSP)". There is a BIOS update for W530 but not for W520.Should I assume Intel SSD 530 is and will remain incompatible with ThinkPad W520 or wait for a BIOS update?

Answer:Intel SSD 530 startup problems on ThinkPad W520 - Bug in SSD or lack of BIOS support?

I am also seeing the exact same issue. I have a ThinkPad W520 and a Corsair Force GS using a Sandforce 2200 series controller. According to the Intel SSD thread, there is some incompatibility between that controller and Intel QM77-chips which is causing the issue. The symptoms for my laptop are the same. SSD is always recognized on cold boot, but effectively never on warm boot / restart. Will we get a BIOS update that fixes this? I have dual boot configuration with both windows 8 and windows 7. The issue is happening regardless of what OS I issue the restart from.

NEVER buy a Lenovo  I just bought a brand new Flex laptop from the Microsoft Store.  A MAJOR PROBLEM for those who use the touchpad.  It doesn't allow the user to turn off the drag in the mouse buttons (only).  When I use the touch pad, i move the cursor (for example to select a radial button).  However when I go to click on the left or right mouse buttons on the touch pad it's so sensitive to movement that it moves the curosor away from the radial button. There should be a way to map the touch pad.  Lenovo blames the software and the touchpad company.  Yet they chose this touchpad.  I need support from one company.  They sent me to talk with the touchpad company.  Sorry.  It's your Laptop Lenovo.  To add to Lenovo's problem, their support is in India and it is almost impossible to understand the support person or their supervisor.

Since 1709 ATT/Yahoo Email does not work on Edge but is perfect on Firefox
I changed over to Outlook email. Linked Outlook with ATT/Yahoo. Outlook told me everything was complete but then I discovered there was no email in the inbox.Next, I accepted ATT.net as homepage on Edge (something I did not want to do) in an attempt to get ATT/Yahoo email working. Still ATT/Yahoo email does not work on Edge.I've had to move over to Firefox until I can get email on Edge.
So the big question is what email will work with post 1709 Edge.
