Hp envy loose hinge and base loosening and cracking

Question: Hp envy loose hinge and base loosening and cracking

I bought my Hp envy about 18 months ago and a few months ago the hinge started getting loose and I noticed that a few screws were missing. This was a few weeks after It had come back for repair for a bios issue and recently I noticed that the actual bottom plastic was starting to crack and eventually the plastic was sticking out and I struggled to push it back in like I usually did. Ive seen that this issue is extremely common with these laptops and most have said in the HP forums that its a design issue. So I don't want to continue using the laptop in case something major gets damaged. Ive seen in other forums that some users have had there laptops replaced but all im wanting is a quick easy fix. Thanks

Recently, the left hinge has become loose on my HP Envy after having it for over a year and a half with no issues. While my warranty has expired, I have discovereed that this is a common manufacterer's issue for this product, so I was wondering what options HP offered for this problem since it is not the fault of the customer.

I have kept my Notebook with great care and have never dropped or bumped it. After a yaer I noticed that the right side hinge has become a bit loose and within 3 months it has become quite loose. At the moment it seems to be manageable to fix the problem but I am afraid that in some time it might pop out of the plactic body. Is there a loose screw that can be tightened? What should I do to prevent more damage to the hinge and body?

I have recently noticed that the hinge on my computer is coming loose, and I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this or if it will cause further damage? I would like to get it fixed but I can't find contact information except for computerized assistance, and I'd rather talk to an actual person. I'm not on warranty anymore, but I have seen that other people have gotten this issue resolved without paying, even with expired warranty. Would anyone be able to help me with this problem? Thanks

Hi, Over the past while I've noticed the lid of my laptop becoming quite loose. The hinges now have no control whatsoever and opening the laptop causes it to bend the enclosure upwards as well as cracking the plastic base. The laptop is still very much within warranty and has sustained no falling damage - literally just the day to day process of opening and closing it. As it seems to be an existing hardware fault for the model, am hoping for some assistance in having my warranty cover a repair.

I recieved my HP ENVY Sleekbook 6-1100 se 2 years ago. I was very careful with it and never dropped it. About a year after, the corner near the right hinge began to come loose everytime I open and close the laptop and it is getting worse. The hinge itself looks like it is starting to break also. I searched and I see that HP offered after warranty repair since its a commen issue in this kind of models.

My HP Envy was purchased roughly 2.5 years ago and about 12 months in the LHS of the case near the hinge has cracked.Since then the fan has had small pieces of plastic come adrift and jam it.From what I am reading this hinge plastic is a design flaw. Some assistance from HP would be great. So, basically, when I open my laptop, the base on the top left side begins to fall off a bit, and from the looks of it, it's affecting the hinge on that side as well (or it could be the hinge's fault). I do open and close my laptop more times than the normal person, so it wouldn't surprise me if the hinge is broken. The base on that side is already loose to begin with, but the problem seems to worsen when I open the laptop. I can still use my laptop and open and close it just fine, but I feel obligated to hold that corner in place when opening and closing it. In light of that issue, I have a few questions: Can you specify what exactly is wrong with my laptop, whether it be the hinge, base or whatever? Will this cause any long or short term damage to my computer, or even render it unusable? How long would my computer last like this assuming I take decent care of it, since I plan on eventually buying a new laptop when I come across the money? I don't have a warranty, so how long will it take HP to fix this if I send it to them, and how much will it cost? I hope someone is able to answer my questions.

Hello, The hinge on my HP ENVY TouchSmart 15 has been loose (or broken?) for quite some time. It caused the bottom of my laptop to split open on the side which has the power button (left side).  The laptop was not dropped or damaged in other ways, before I knew it I noticed the issue. First I noticed the screen feeling loose, but only recently I paid closer attention and saw the hinge was loose. Other than the hinge issue, the computer is in good condition and works great. I would hate to lose it because of the hinge. From reading the forum, it seems to be a very common issue with this particular type of laptop. Therefore I am wondering if anything has or can be done to help us who have encountered this issue. Thank you!

Hi, It seems that others have had this problem with a loose hinge too. My screen started fading to white (with faint vertical lines). At first I could jiggle the display and the display would correct but over time it's gotten worse. My computer runs fine otherwise, but I need to use an external monitor or I can't see anything. I'm suspecting a loose connection but can't find a good video showing how to fix this. My computer is no longer under warranty. Any advice or help pls?

I loved HP computers for their latest components and I have multiple computers in different sizes. But this Envy 15-J151NR is really bad design and broke the left hinge off the base enclosure causing the enclosure to raise up and cause gap between enclosure and top cover! Hinge on the display side is holding fine, I bought this notebook in MAY 2014 and it is out of warranty! I would appreciate and continue my love to HP computers, if HP can offer to replace the base enclosure at no cost! Hope HP support can respond ASAP since this issue needs to be covered via some sort of recall to compensate the design flaw!

I have a problem with my Y580's left hinge and right speaker. There is one month of warranty left.1.5 months after I got it, the left hinge kept making cracking sounds when the lid was being closed. I couldn't be bothered it send it back for repairs, and the problem persisted from then on. Once it got so bad that it felt like the hinge would break off. However, In the last months of warranty, it has been better (almost normal) but if I leave the lid half opened for a few hours, the hinge will crack when I close it. But only when it's being closed, no problems when opening. There's still a soft bezel creaking sound around the hinge which does not happen on the good right hinge.  The right speaker went completely for 30seconds as I was playing music. I want this repaired but has only happened three times and I can't prove it faulty to Lenovo.  I want my laptop to last at least 5 years. Have you had this problem? Should I return it for repair? Thank you so much.

I bought an Inspiron 15 5547 8 months back and is currently out of warranty . It had been working just fine untill recently, all of a sudden  I am hearing a cracking sound from the right hinge every time I open and close the laptop. Despite numerous calls to the customer care department there has been no proper response. Looks like numerous people have been suffering from the same problem, which clearly reflects on the inferior designing/ components used. It is also very disturbing that a trusted brand like Dell has let down on it's customers . It would be deeply appreciated if the laptop is replaced.
Has anyone managed to get this problem sorted?

Shame on HP for selling a product that wont' make it over a year.

My daughter's HP Pavilion 15-p051us notebood developed pretty severe cracking around one of the hinge locations. In looking at this, the cover doesn't seem strong enough to transfer the load of repeated opening and closing to the hinges over the life of the product. Also, the hinges seem as though they may be somewhat 'tight' as far as force needed to open the cover. Have there been other reported problems like this and/or any kind of recall that deals with beefing up the cover in the hinge areas ? Thank you

Hi, Generally loving my W530, but the left hinge has developed a strange cracking sound when adjusting the lid angle and gotten much tighter. It makes the noise because it seems to be holding the display so tightly that when the display actually starts to move it makes a cracking sound. I wouldn't mind a little bit, but it's now to the point that people in a room look at me when I move the lid. It's worth noting that the hinge isn't quite flush where it meets the base of the laptop, unlike the right side which doesn't make the noise and it considerably looser. There is virtually no space at the left side of the hinge where the monitor meets the hinge, but on the right hinge there is considerably more room on both sides of the hinge. I'm wondering if the monitor is rubbing against the hinge or something like that. Is there a screw that could be loose that I could tighten to make the hinge more flush if I removed the keyboard bezel surround? Would squirting some oil in the hinge be a good idea? Any other thoughts? Also interested if anyone else has experience this. Thanks!

I should hope that there has been a recall on this. HP should at least repair the issue free of charge (waranty or no waranty). I take great care of my things and my computer is no exception. Please give me advice on this one. I am extremely disappointed at this point.

So my friend has an AM2 board, not sure the make yet but he was saying that the motherboard's cpu socket, whatever it's called (white part that receives the pins with the lock down arm) is loose and the fixture with the cpu in it can move. He says it still runs ok, the cooler seems to be holding it in place right now.

Has anyone experienced this problem before? Is there a safe way to secur that component without damaging the motherboard?

I'm going to try and get some more information from him in the meantime.

Answer:Loose AM2 socket base....how to secure.

So in talking more with him he says its the little bracket arm that secures the cpu in, it doesn't stay down. with the heatsink secured on it its held in place and seems to run fine. I'm just wondering how significant an issue it is, could this lead to other problems? Or no worries since the heatsink has it in place?

Answer:X230T Loose hinge?

Hi Bjc92,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m really sorry to hear that hinges of your Lenovo X230T had become loose after continuous switching between tablet and laptop mode.

Please refer to pages 67 & 103 in this user guide to see how to remove or fix hinge cap/ hinges.

Also, note that the hinges on laptops often become loose through wear and tear and will result in a screen that will not stay in place. In that case, tightening the hinges alone might not help resolve the issue. The hinges may have to be replaced.

Hope this information helped!

Best regards,
Mithun.

So basically if i grab the screen to tilt downward it will move about and inch forward before the grips the hinge and start moving. LIkewise if I hold the laptop by its base and tilt it back and forth the screen will loosely flop back and forth about an inch without affecting the position of the actual hinge. Please advice me on how I can rectify this. I plan to have the computer for at least 2 or 3 more years. Best regards, Scott Georgson

the problem is that you cannot repair it only by tighten some screws. If the hinge on this model is loose then you will need new hinges and to exchange them, the whole machine must be disassembled since the hinges are partially under the palm rest and on the lcd installed.

So, if you want to fix that you should search for an technician which can fix it. Better solution would be to contact an authorized service partner:

Hi guys, Would like to ask any of your beloved T400 starting to develop slop or 'play'  on the top of the LCD after opening the Thinkpad already ?

Answer:T400 hinge getting loose

The Thinkpad hinge are renowned for its toughness any play or sloppiness in a new hinge, means problems, even my old 4 year old already dead T42 have no play in the hinge whatsoever. My T400 does not have any play in the hinge whatsoever.  I had a hinge in mine T60 replaced under warranty due to the play, and now it is wonderful once again.

Hi- I've had my ideapad since late february. Its been a great laptop and I've generally been very happy with it.Unfortunately, about a month ago the hinge that connects the screen to the base of the laptop has become so loose that the LCD portion of the laptop will no longer stay upright without being propped up against something solid.  I purchased it from Newegg and they don?t except returns after the first month for laptops. Anyone have any suggestions?  Thanks

Answer:Loose Ideapad hinge

Hi, Bets thing to do at this point is to send the laptop for service, never thought that an IdeaPad would have such an issue. Call tech support and have it repaired or replaced.

One of the hinges on my two week old Yoga 11s is looser than the other. As I open the lid and push it back, the left hinge rotates somewhat, but the right one stays firm. Finally, once I reach 180 degrees, they level out. I can also equalise them by closing the screen back up somewhat after opening it. It's not a huge difference between the hinges, but I'm aware of it, and it's kind of annoying given i've only just bought it.  Is this single-hinge looseness normal? Is it worth getting serviced, or are both hinges going to be as loose as barn doors in a few months time?

Don't risk it and get it fixed, imo. If the hinge breaks, your computer is useless.

I have a Spectra 360 laptop.  Bought about a year ago.  Although the hinge still holds my screen open it is loose at the internal connection.  One side came loose first, now both sides move about 2 mm.  Is there anything I can do? (The loose part is on the keyboard half.  Where the hinge connects to the screen seems tight.)

Hey, so as the title says my Yoga 2 has some problems. Whenever I open or close my yoga it makes a snap/crack/pop sound, seems to be from the hinge. Anyone have any idea if the warranty would cover this? I just got this like the last week of August, so this is really upsetting. Also the headphone jack doesn't work at all, hasn't since the first time I tried it. It doesn't recognize that it is there (I've tried the device manager or whatnot, it is enabled just does not work). When I play music with the headphones in, the sound comes out of the speaker so it is super not working, ha. Any one have a solution?

I got this same problem too (not the headphone jack). But mine is not a yoga its an ideapad 100-15iby. I got the popping/cracking sound in the right hinge of the laptop. Is there any fix I can do for the laptop or is it not a problem at all. And BTW I used my notebook for 6 months and this problem started around in the 5th month. Reply ASAP!!

The right hinge on my Envy 17 Touch Screen has failed, causing the case to become separated and the lid to be nearly impossible to close. This is the second Envy 17 to fail in this way. About a year ago my husband's broke and HP spent nearly three months attempting to repair it before finally just shipping him a new one. This appears to be a flaw in the construction of the hinge assembly, and we have noticed that the newer models, such as my husband's replacement, have a much improved design in comparison. We spent about $1,300 on this computer (it has an i7 Core and 16 GB of RAM) and hoped it would hold up for a while. The laptop was great, but now it has become difficult to use without fear of causing further damage. Thank you for any suggestions.

Don't know what name to give it, the display, the screen - the clear plastic you look at - has come loose on the right side so now I have dust inside/under that cover that won't go away.  I've found lots of references to bad hinges but no others with this problem. And of course, my warranty expired 5 weeks ago. Any ideas?

The screw on the back under the right side hinge has become loose and fallen out twice.I put it back in the first time nice and tight and tightened all the other screws. It just fell out again!  This is with gentle handling.  And it took less than a month to wiggle loose.Would using a little Locktite blue on the screw when I put it back void my warrantee?

Answer:Y50-70 loose bottom screw under hinge.

No, the use of Locktite blue won't void the warranty and is probably a very good idea since this is a reoccurring problem. Be sure to just use a tiny dab on the threads.

The left hand hinge on my wife's HP Spectre X360 is loose. It looks like the right hand hinge is taking most of the weight and the screen leans slightly as a result of this. It has been like this for a number of months, but is starting to get worse. Unfortunately, I didn't report it previously and the warranty ran out just over 2 weeks ago. My concern is that not only is the left hand hinge getting looser, the additonal weight on the right hand hinge will lead excessive wear and the risk that this hinge will fail as well. is there any way HP will repair the faulty hinge, as it appears to be a known issue.

Hi, I bought my HP Spectre x360 on February 1st, 2016. In the past few weeks I have noticed that both hinges have become loose and pull away from the lower portion of the computer. I am worried it will break completely in the next few months. I tried going to the support page on the HP website but contantly get a 404 error when I select my computer model. This was a large purchase for me and I am not happy that this premium product is having hardware issues in less than a year.

The right hinge of my HP pavillion m6 1035dx entertainment notebook pc. What is the most economic way of fixing this simple issue. I figure I would go straight to HP as, business to customer, to ensure a better customer experience that is more frictionless with less obstacles. I bought this laptop as manufactured refurbed and assume maybe the hinge was loose in the first place because I have kept good care. I plan on upgrading the internal hardware as well but I need to make sure that the hinges and rest of external casing is dexterous and durable. Moreover, I can't find a reputable third party that I trust. So, I am going directly to HP. Please reply to me and give what options I can use. I figured I can just send my Laptop to HP and HP fixes it and sends it back or if there is a reputable third party HP can recommend. However, I strongly believe that HP is a better option in both HP and my interests. Third party is just a middle man that costs more not only for me but as well as for HP. Thus, no need for a middleman and I strongly believe in a simple customer experience and customer relations. otherwise, HP will be tarnished in customer service. I can't even talk to a representative about my issue. At least, from my experience on the Website and is just forums. Please reply back on my hinge issue it is a very simple task and should be easy peasy on a two way road of customer to brand image.

My Asus laptop is a few months old and the screen hinge seems to be getting looser and looser. It's not falling over or anything, but definately not as steady as it once was - you can wobble the screen a bit backwards and forth when it's up.My laptop is very similar to this:click herebut I'm not sure how to tighten up my hinges as I can't find how to get to them - presuming that it's loose hinges rather than just worn hinges. It's not a problem at the moment but I'd rather make sure I can fix it now, and if I can't do myself, send it off while it's still in warranty.Any help would be appreciated, cheers.

Is it normal for some of the hinges to be slightly loose on the yoga 900? I wasn't sure since not all of them are loose. Also, I have one of the caps on the edge loose as well which I can take off and put back on (without it falling off easily). Not sure if it's worth sending it in... still on warranty. There is no cracking sounds etc. though and it is working properly.

It might be best to send it in to get the entire hinge replaced under warranty. See this thread about the same issue on a Yoga 3 Pro where Amy of Lenovo suggested this course of action:

I power up my DV7 laptop but the screen doesn't come on readily. I noticed that the left hinge near the power button is not stable. It appears to be moving rather than pivoting. If I move the screen a bit, it comes on. Any movement of the screen causes it to either flicker or go blank. I connected the laptop to a external monitor and it works okay. Can someone tell me what might be inside the laptop that would cause this? Is there a switch or contact that tells the system that the laptop is open? I hesitate to try opening the back or to send it out for repair before understanding what I', facing. This machine also has a tendency to run hot. Is that the norm? Hi: I received x1 carbon touch in late December. First I ran into touch screen issue. This issue was fixed by running a calibration program I got from my internal Lenovo support. Yesterday when I opened the laptop I heard a cracking noise and the hinge separated from the cover and screen is also loose. The screen is not cracked and laptop still works.Whenever I open the laptop the screen separates from the bezel. I push them together and they snap but always separate when I open or close the laptop.I showed it to my technician at work and he told me that warranty will not cover this issue as it is physical damage. There was not physical damage to my X1 carbon touch. Now we have to pay for new lcd bezel, hinge kit and rear LCD cover. These may be expensive and I have no way of knowing if this will happen again., After using Lenovo PC's for the past 10 years this is unexpected. I saw one more person who can the exact same problem. Let me know if you have any suggestion for me.

Answer:x1 carbon loose hinge bezel

Had the same problem on my daughter's X1 Carbon Touch (34xx). Disassembled per the hardware manual to see what was wrong. Turns out that the two right-hand-side hinge screws had detached from the cover because the brass fitting into which they were screwed had become separated from the cover (they were just wedged into a plastic hole), effectively freeing the cover. Not impressed with the design. Am investigating brass-to-plastic glues...

I purchased a Spectre x360 almost two years ago (Sept. 2015) and the laptop worked fine. After about two months, I noticed the hinges did not line up as cleanly but the laptop still opened, closed and folded back without issue. I recently opened my laptop and noticed that the right hinge is shaky and that the screen wobbles a lot because of it. This seems to be a purely physical issue as I "pop" the hinge back into place and it secures. While the screen is still shaky, I am less worried about it this way. I have never dropped my laptop, haven't travelled with it and it sits flat on my desk 99% of the time. How should I proceed? Thanks for your help in advance.

Hello, I bought the T61 in 2008 with 3 year warranty in USA. My T61 is showing the loose hinge problem which has been encountered by many other forum users. Right now I'm in Chennai, India and the Lenovo warranty center in Alwarpet, Chennai says the hinge problem is not covered under warranty. Could any one from Lenovo confirm this for me. Thank you, Thaniks

Answer:T61 Loose Hinge - Does the warranty cover this issue?

Well i was once told that Lenovo don't cover hinge problem by the Lenovo service personnel, but then on my second attempt and through some coercion they said yes. Mark_Lenovo did mention that the loose hinge is within the normal repair parameter, while many people in the USA have the hinge problem repaired under warranty. This is the message that Mark_Lenovo sent me regarding the issue of hinge and warranty. ------------------------ The hinges should be covered under warranty.  Sometimes the staking of the pin inside the hinge fails - we have several designs - some are "D" shaped which can become rounded, and some are epoxied I believe.   It is also possible that the screws have loosened which hold the hinge to the LCD frame or to the chasis - the locktite did not hold.  If you are in warranty, I would expect us to cover this unless there were visible signs of abuse (like dent or abrasion from being dropped). ----------------------------

Answer:Loose/Broken hinge on my Satellite 2410-603

Hi,

unfortunately it?s not possible to tighten it, so you will have to purchase new hinges.
I suggest you following:

Look at ebay for such machine you have (maybe a defective would be good) and let a technician exchange it or ask an authorized service partner how many an exchange of the hinges will cost.
If you need a link to find a ASP then you can try it here:

I'm just guessing, but I think you're missing a retaining screw that holds the hinge post in place.
Look at the back of the machine to see if there is a place for a screw that is missing.

Good evening, i own a X200t on which the hinge appears to be kind of loose. When opening the screen and letting it in a position before 90 degrees, it falls back some centimeters (3-4 cm). Also, when standing on a table in laptop-mode, the display is wobbling with every little movement of the desk. It's annoying (esp. when using it in train) compared to my former X200s, which was rock-solid. Is this typical or should i call Lenovo Service ? Kind regards, pepun.

I am experiencing a problem with the right hinge connecting the base/keyboard to the screen on my 15-r210TU laptop. The left hinge is still connected to the base of the computer, but the hinge hinge case is broken. What would you suggest for this?

The left hinge has been broken and as a result the base has also cracked.  Is it possible to arrange a fix for my computer? If yes how?

To any staff, Long story short, the hinge on my Thinkpad T61p were getting loose (it was moving back and forth) and upon a quick serach, apparently it was a known issue on these laptops. As my warranty was nearing its end, I quickly called Lenovo to have this repaired. Because I was promised that this repair is going to be finished within 5-7 business days, I decided to go ahead and send it away depite that my major requires it 24/7. I've received a box next day and I sent it away on Jan 9th, 2008. I called in today to see what's happening but this employee, who rather got really irritated that I called in, couldnt find my info for 30 mins. After finally finding my info, he mentioned that the hinge is backordered. I politely asked him when I can get the laptop back but he said it could take days.. weeks or possibly up to months.  The sole reason why I sent this laptop for a repair was because they said the turnaround repair would be fast and I believed his word. It's quite dissapointing to hear these kind of delays in repair process when I need this laptop ASAP. There are actually 2 ongoing cases regarding my laptop but none of them are being solved at the moment. The 6 cell battery, which just died a few days ago, was replaced by a 9 cell from Lenovo. I called about this issue as well and hopefully they can get this straightened out. How long does it take for a "back ordered" parts to arrive at the depot? It's really hard to imagine how the depo... Read more

Got my X1 Carbon for a month now.And I discovered my bezel is a bit loose on the lower left corner.Created a support call with lenovo and send them some pictures. Got a call back today and they won't fix this under warranty. (I even have 3 year adp on the laptop)When I asked why; 'We have send the pictures to another department and they refused this'And when asked to get transfered to this department/someone who can tell me why they can't help me.I can make a complaint via email but that's it. Any help ?Pictures :http://tweakers.net/ext/f/3RfVIsFZPQVZfgyGSlazYkJq/full.jpghttp://tweakers.net/ext/f/6XqojdIJvb4sSS300XkWc1Dc/full.jpg The issue can be related to a keyboard replacement I had the first week. (the onsite engineer had to dismantle the whole laptop)

Answer:[x1 carbon] loose hinge/lcd bezel - warranty denied

If the bezel is separating from the screen, it isn't the first report.  I don't understand why Support would deny service unless they are suggesting you return it.

I have had my laptop for just over a year and I have never transported it anywhere, as I just leave it on my desk. However, when I opened up my laptop today, the left hinge came off loose. Now the left corner of the screen is very loose from the screen border. Would HP be able to fix it, even though the warranty for this laptop has just finished 2 months ago? I am concerned, because I haven't done anything to it and it was very sudden. I'm pretty sure that it's a manufacture fault and this is an issue. The product has become unfit for purpose, because I can't close it and take it with me anywhere now.  I would like to hear back from someone. Thanks

So I got a brand new13 inch HP Spectre X360 on August 24. I really wanted this laptop over the Mac because I felt it was lighter than a Pro, more powerful than an Air, had a great display, plus was more vessatile than the two due to its rotation capability. To my disappointment, I quickly found out the trackpad seemed loose (you could feel a slight rattle by lightly pressing down the middle). 15 days later, I exchanged it at Best Buy only to find, low and behold, my new one having the same exact issue with the trackpad. Not only that, but I feel that even the screen hinge is ever so slightly loose. Not that it moves in laptop, tent, or presentation mode -- but when I type quick I feel the screen shake just a tiny bit. Moreover, when in tablet mode, the two halves of the computer (the screen and back of the keyboard underneath it) don't stick together. They pry apart about an inch. I called HP and they said it could be my particular local Best Buy bought a bad bunch or something? I did see other threads on here with people complaining about the trackpad, and some have suggested that there are some 'malfunctioned' unitss and that if one were to keep exchanging, they would eventually get a good one. I also have slight cackling of speakers without headphones when playing music. So should I exchange for a second time? Would Best Buy be upset -- do they have a limit on this sort of thing? And if it helps, I have the three year warranty/Geek Squad tech support package... Read more

I bought hp paviliong g6-2016tx laptop in the year 2012 and with an year additional warranty , the warranty ended in 2014-aug/sepetember recently i observed that the left hinge and the connecting base cover of the laptop got broken and getting seperated, when i searched the net its a most occuring problem for hp pavilion g6/dv6/envy/probooks if i would have known this issue well before purchase i would have stayed away from hp, previously i had dell notebook , which is top notch in build quality compared to this cheap glossy plastic,i paid 45 k inr for this thing which seriously looks cheap build, when the problem is occuring repeatedly in lot of ur notebook models that too the same problem , why hp hasnt done anythign like replacement/fixing of such things at free of cost even though warranty got expired, because seriously its a manufacturing/assembly design line defect, being a mechanical engineer iam sure about it,  you being a BIGGER corporation with good reputation,  you should have addressed  this issue well before, check or google it out , you will know about this problem with your hp notebooks especially the broken left hinge , everybody is complaining about the same but there is no official announcement from your hp side, i decided to stay away from HP next time, thank god i thought of buying hp stream series i got saved!! goodbye hp

I recently purchased the latest Yoga 900 from the Canadian Microsoft store (online).  It is the only option for a 2-in-1 in Canada that you can order with 16GB RAM + 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD.  The laptop arrived quickly and everything is working as expected.  On the centre of the wristwatch hinge there is a type of mesh that goes from front to back that covers a portion of it. The mesh is not centered properly on my unit and it slightly protrudes out of the back of the hinge.  I realise that this is a minor issue, but I'm within Microsoft's 30 day return/exchange period.  The hinge does not appear to be loose, but i've only had the laptop for 3 days now. I took some pictures to help illustrate the issue and I'm curious to see if anyone else has noticed the samething.??????

As the title describes - a screw on my laptop has come loose and gone missing and now the bezel (the thin plastic cover surrounding the keyboard in case my use of bezel is wrong) has separated from the lower half of the casing on the upper right corner of my E145, above the kensington lock and mains input. The LCD hinge is now loose and lifts up when moved, the kensington lock housing also moves with it. This image shows the problem - that's the right side hinge, the separation can be seen at the top of the case and to the right of the kensington lock port, on the hinge itself. I haven't tampered with the screw in any way but did notice the bezel wasn't flush with the battery on this side (it is on the other hinge), so the screw has been loose for some time and finally worked its way free. I posted this thread before I realised the screw had gone but I might as well keep it up (if only to remind anyone else with this problem to check the screws ) but I have two questions: 1. In the event we're unable to find the screw, will it be possible to procure a replacement from Lenovo? When looking at the laptop from the bottom, the screw is located in the top left corner just above the rubber foot and battery release switch 1. 2. If the screw has come loose because the threading is damaged then this will need to be repaired. My laptop's warranty has not yet expired, will the warranty cover these repairs?
