Two finger scrolling has stopped working on Yoga 710

Question: Two finger scrolling has stopped working on Yoga 710

Two-finger scrolling has suddenly stopped working on my Yoga 710. A reboot hasn't worked. Two-finger zoom still works, but when I try to scroll it malfunctions. Pulling two fingers down on the touchpad minimises the window. Pushing two fingers up takes me to miniature view of all my open windows. Very occasionally it will scroll slightly in one direction but not the other, but I can't get it to happen often enough to work out why it works occasionally. What is going wrong? EDIT: It now seems that the zoom is a bit finicky too. It works much of the time when I try to enlarge or shrink Facebook in my browser, but not all the time.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've had this laptop for about a month and didnt have an issue until yesterday when my two finger scroll stopped working. I tried adjusting the screen resolution as some responses suggested to no avail. I have checked my setting and two finger scrolling is definitely turned on but started having no effect at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I got this laptop in August, and I didn't have any problems with the laptop. However about a month ago, the 2 finger scrolling on the trackpad has stopped working. I've made sure that 2 finger scrolling is selected in the mouse settings, but no matter what I do, 2 finger scrolling doesn't work. I've updated my mouse drivers and everything to the latest versions as well, but that didn't fix the problem either. Any clues as to why this might be happening?  Thanks, Mitch

It just kind of freaks out on me, in Chrome instead of scrolling, the pointer disappears and it just zooms in and out, almost as if its being recognized as touchscreen input. It did this on Win 8.1 as well when the screen resolution was set at 1080p instead of 1800p. However when it was at full res i had no problem. Anyone else come across this issue?

Answer:Two finger scrolling not working on Yoga 2 Pro after windows 10 upgrade.

I am having similar problems, although I don't have the zoom issue- it is simply not scrolling.   very frustrating when you are accustomed to this method.   My resolution was also reset, but I don't find that as much of an issue- the scrolling I can't fix.

I just bought a Yoga 3 14" and I have an issue with the touchpad: when I use the two finger scrolling function, it doesn't stop scrolling unless I lift both fingers off the touchpad. All other notebooks I have used before stopped scrolling when I lifted just one finger, alowing me to resume controlling the pointer with just one finger. This is very annoying, and I would like to know how to change this behaviour.

Thanks

I have a ThinkPad Yoga S1 with a clean and up-to-date installation of Windows 10 Pro. Synaptics driver version 19.0.17.27 is installed.Two-finger touchpad scrolling rarely works in several UWP/Metro apps such as Calendar and Groove Music. When I attempt to scroll, a little crosshair appears on the screen and moves up and down instead of moving the page. Every once in a while it actually does scroll, but only at random and immediatey stops working again.Strangely enough, if the UWP window is in the background behind another window and isn't currently in focus, two-finger scrolling works fine. Non-UWP/Metro applications do not seem to be affected by this problem.Any help would be greatly appreciated.-gyokuroEDIT: I found a temporary workaround right after I posted this that doesn't fix the issue, but at least makes it less of an annoyance until this is fixed. If you click on the taskbar and then try to scroll in a UWP app, it works fine, and the tiny crosshair doesn't appear either.

Hi there, I've had my X1 Yoga for a while now, and two-finger scrolling in all apps seem to be great. But for some reason, two finger scrolling in the Windows 10 start menu is NOT great. It's super glitchy and seems to stop abruptly. Normally if you swipe down and lift your fingers, there's still some inertia that will continue the scrolling a bit - but the start menu seems to stop instead of continuing with inertia among other issues. Long story short - two-finger scrolling in the Windows 10 start menu sucks on my X1 yoga. Is anyone else with an X1 Yoga having this issue? Is there any way to fix this? I can post a video to show what i'm talking about if needed. Thanks!

Hi everyone, Just received my brand new Yoga X1 2nd gen and everything's fine. The only thing that drives me crazy is the scrolling direction when using the two finger scrolling on the touch pad. I want to reverse it as I'm used to it on all other computers I've ever used before. How do I do this? There're some articles, also in this forum, pointing to advanced settings of the Synaptics tab included in the mouse settings. But there is almost nothing to change, especially nothing relating to changing the direction. There must be a registry setting. Please help, so I can enjoy my new Yoga X1 :-) Cheers Georg

I'm befuddled. Two finger scrolling in Windows 10 dialogs, applications and Internet Explorer/Edge all works perfectly. However, Chrome is far too sensitive and the page blazes past. I can't adjust the scroll speed in settings because that affects all other apps (in other words they'll become way too slow!) Just to make matters more confused I've also got a Logitech mouse and the scroll wheel works fine everywhere - and this means if I install an extension in Chrome to configure scroll speed to work with the touchpad I will have slowed it down to a painful rate using the scroll wheel. Any clues how to configure Chrome two finger scrolling correctly? Is this an issue with the trackpad or Chrome?

I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 (base non-pro) 11 W8.1 with all the latest updates from microsoft.   The trackpad has never worked successfully with 2-finger scrolling.   There was a lot of buzz in 2014 on the trackpad issue on this formum and elsewhere; I haven't seen much posted in the past 6 months so I don't know if a) the issue has been fixed or b) people have given up.  Notably I've seen recomendations to download use the trackpad manufacturer's drivers, but others have commented that this disables the tablet features.  Apparently the proper driver would have to emerge from Lenovo. Has there been a resolution to 2-finger scrolling on Lenovo Yoga 2 11 that retains the tablet and other convertible features? thank you,-rei

When scrolling with the index finger on my right hand I will regularly hover over and lightly touch the left button with my left index finger in anticipation of the link/button/text box etc that I am about to click on. I have always done this an never encoutered any issues on the numerous laptops I have owned and used in the past). When I do this on my newly axquired Lenovo Yoga 900 it causes the mouse pointer to lag momentarily. I have updated drivers (v19.0.17.57), I have turned off ALL Multi-Finger options (2-finger, 3-finger and 4-finger) and reduced Palm Tracking to the minimum. Is this behavior isolated to me, or are other experiencing the same behavior? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The two finger scrolling on my Hp Dv6 is not working. but the touchpad is still working. I went to the mouse properties and checked to see if possibly the two finger scrolling option had been unchecked but it was still there. Also the four finger flick multi finger command still works on my touchpad so I know the touchpad still works well. Any idea why just the scrolling wouldnt be working? It is so frustrating having to move the mouse over to the scroll bar to scroll up and down. Please Help!!

This morning, I decided to make the jump to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1, and I have to say, the design looks simpler to use, but this new OS software has done something with my touchpad. Originally, on my Windows 8.1, I was able to scroll through whatever web pages or folders in my computer with one finger using my touchpad. With this new update, initially, I thought it broke my touchpad completely, but the problem has been narrowed down to having to now use two fingers to scroll in the most awkward way as this touchpad doesn't seemed to be designed for two finger scrolling. Is there a way for me to change this back? Would I have to revert back to Windows 8.1 to get my one finger scrolling back?

The laptop I am using is a Gateway NE56R34u, and the touchpad is an ELAN. Any and all help would be much appreciated.

Answer:How to change from two-finger scrolling back to one-finger scrolling?

Would Gateway drivers for their touchpad be one area to explore ?

I was looking at a Logitech touchpad, and it appears their drivers are what controls the response/numbers of fingers/digits.

I have a G510 running Windows 8.1 and have the ELAN Smart-Pad software.  It took me a while to get used to the new gestures on Windows 8, but was finally enjoying scrolling down webpages by using 2 fingers and swiping to the right (down) and left (up).  I was using the laptop and closed my programs an d closed the lid to have some lunch.  When I came back, I could no longer scroll down on a webpage by 2 finger swiping to the left or right.  In order to scroll up or down now, I have to use the 2 fingers and swipe up and down.  Before this incident, I was able to use either way, 2 finger swipe to the right, left, up, and down.   I have tried restarting my computer, rolling back the driver, re-installing the new driver.  I also opened up the mouse settings in ELAN and reset everything back to default.  I've double and triple checked that both "Vertical" and "Horizontal" scrolling is checked and enabled.  I've restarted my computer a total of about 10 times now trying everything I can think of.  Nothing works.  I haven't downloaded any updates lately at all and this just happened out of nowhere.  I've googled and searched these threads and have found nothing that describes my problem exactly, although there are some similar issues.  Can someone help?  Thanks in advance.

Two-Finger Scrolling in Windows 8 doesn't seem to work properly on my U300S Synaptics trackpad.Instead of just scrolling through the tiles or app on the Windows 8(.1) startscreen, individual apps are higlighted and scrolled through like when I use the arrow-keys on a regular keyboard. Also, in the metro version of Internet Explorer you should be able to move back and forth in the browser history by horizontally doing a two-finger-scroll gesture. Do I have to install anything besides the Synpatics driver to get this to work properly?

Hi,Touchpad should be either Elantech or Symantec, before installing the drivers, you need to check whether you have to check whether you have Precision touchpad in Device manager. In windows 10, go to Settings, Devices and click Touchpad and try enabling finger gestures.

Answer:n5010 laptop touchpad not working correctly - no 'one finger' scrolling function

Hi PUFFIN88,
Have you performed a clean install of Windows 7 or have just rolled back the OS from Win10 to Win7? Is the touchpad detected in device manager? Is there any damage on the system? Do the touchpad button register a click?
Update the BIOS - http://dell.to/28WKQHB- restart the system and check if it works fine.  Reinstall the touchpad drivers from the same site and check.
If the touchpad is not detected in device manager- then download the service manual from the support site link above - and reseat the palmrest cables and check if it works.
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us.
Write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

Answer:Why isn't the two finger scrolling gesture no longer working after upgrading to Windows 10 (Lenovo G50)?

Same thing happened to my two-year old Samsung laptop, but fortunately I have downloaded the touchpad driver before so re-installation was easy.
Have you tried checking for driver updates in Device Manager? This method should automatically search for, download and install the driver for your touchpad. Take note, however, that you may need to uninstall the current driver first before it would be able to detect a new one, so make sure you have your mouse ready.
If that doesn't work, try checking the manual or documentation of your laptop - there must be some information about what kind of touchpad is in your Lenovo. Once you find information about your touchpad, it would be easier to search for the appropriate driver manually.

Is anyone else expeiencing problems with their touchpad?I am finding the dual finger scrolling functionality on the touchpad problematic.it seems to work only intermittently, basically gets stuck or doesn't work at all sometimes.sometimes when it doesnt work, if I use the scrolling function with the with the track pointand then return to using it with dual fingure on the touchpad, it sudenly works again.I ask because I had an incredibly frustrating call with tech support today and they say there is nothing they can do,even though i purchaced the extra 4 year on site warrantee, they refuse to send an engeneer out as when doing remotetesting, everything appears to be fine on their end, even though for me its not fine. The say they can only send out an engeneer if they can see a pysical fault on their end.so I'm wondering if its a fault with the W520 or the thinkpad trackpad technology in general?Ive updated the drivers, and set sensitivity to most sensitive and fiddled around loads, with no success.ive even re-imaged the machine (yes)its very amoying concidering the price of these machines.thanksadam

I just upgraded my Yoga 2 Pro to windows 10 and my touchpad was acting crazy--for example, I could only get a window to scroll when it was out of focus.  I tried reinstalling my touchpad drivers, and it took about 5 attempts to get it working at a basic functionality.  However, this process caused an egregious change to basic scrolling behavior.  When I used to scroll with two fingers, I could stop scrolling by lifting one finger, and my mouse would return to being a cursor.  Now, when I lift one finger, it continues to scroll, and it will only stop scrolling once I lift the second finger.  So if I'm moving my cursor around, and I drop a finger down for just a brief moment, I won't stop scrolling until I completely remove my hand from the touchpad. I tried reinstalling the driver, I tried installing the Lenovo Windows 10 touchpad driver, (64-bit)

I have become frustrated with an issue I consider really unforgiveable with my Yoga 11s. It's a great computer but why should the two-finger tap to right click be unavailable? It's a commonly found gesture on Windows and Macs these days and that it's missing be default on my machine drives me crazy. Having to press down firmly to click in the bottom corner or having to click while pressing down two fingers is annoying. I've read some solutions involving drivers and registry edits but not sure what I want to undertake.

Answer:Two finger tap for right click not working in Yoga 11s

I have found a solution but I am still annoyed I had to do my own tech work to get a common touch figure enabled. (By the way there's many threads out there on Synpatics drivers and touchpads not working right for many people on different machines.) Anyway, indeed the fastest fix is to modify a registry entry for Synaptics. Just open  the regisitry edit software on the Yoga and then go through the folders: HKEY LOCAL / Software / Synaptics / SynTP / Win8 In "2FingerTapAction" all you need is to change the value from "0" to "2" - and presto two-finger tap is now a right click! Much easier than going through a driver install / uninstall routine or any other of the suggestions I've found out there. I wish Lenovo had this set up as a default. It's really a great gesture and it's quiet and fast.

I have have my ThinkPad X1 Yoga touchpad configured to use the 3 finger gesture to switch apps on the Gestures tabe of the Synaptics Control Panel.  But swiping up or down on the touchpad with 3 fingers does not do anything.  This used to work when I first got my X1 Yoga a couple of weeks ago.  But it has since stopped.  All my drivers are up to date as of today (6/8/2016).  Is anyone else having this problem? I would like to add that the two finger Pinch to Zoom gesture on my touchpad does work...

The scrolling areas along the right and bottom of my TrackPad have stopped working. In Control Panel, I tried to open Mouse, but it won't open. Clicking on it seems to have no effect. Can it be that some required service isn't running?

Hi, I have an MSi laptop with an elan touchpad and recently the edge scrolling stopped working. I've upgraded the driver through windows and also installed it myself, I've rolled back the driver, I've tried to get into the options but no matter what I've tried they're greyed out and inaccessible. I even went into regedit to try and find some sort of settings, to no avail. I've recently upgraded to Windows 10, but for about a week I had no touchpad problems at all. I even went in and told windows not to upgrade drivers anymore. I've been trying to fix this for seven hours today and I'm so tired. I just want this fixed. Please anyone, help me.

Answer:Edge scrolling stopped working?

I can neither confirm nor deny this: I've read posts by people who say as Win 10 updates, MS removes your "do not update drivers" selection.
Do you know the date and version of the old working driver? If not, see if you can find it from the MSi site.
Look at the current driver you are using. Does it match or has it again been updated against your wishes?
If so, see if you can rollback.

I recently purchases the Lenovo Yoga 3 14 Inch and have found that I am unable to both disable palm tracking or use the two fingered right click tap function. I have gone into the mouse settings but still no help, it says that two finger tap is enabled but will not function, all the other touchpad gestures work perfectly. I currently have driver version: ELAN Touchpad 11.4.54.1_x64 also if this is of any help, the Lenovo Virtual Mouse Device has driver version 14.20.52.752 I have already checked the ELAN settings with no result and also the lenovo settings found in Program Files/Elantech. They both contain palm tracker settings but setting them to minimum still does not clear up my issue. If I am unable to fix the two finger tap option or palm tracker option I am considering taking my Lenovo back just for the hassle it has caused. I have done my research but still found no results. PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi,

I uninstalled the synaptics in my lenovo yoga 500 i7 however when I downloaded the link that you posted below, it is not compatible with my laptop. Now, the touchpad scroll feature is totally not working. Before I uninstalled it, it was intermittently working. This laptop has just been puchased a week ago.

Please advise. Thank you.

Unfortunately that is one of the problems encountered when you join a discussion for another Lenovo model. What downloads work for that model may not work for yours.  I have now moved your posting to the Lenovo Yoga forum which is a better venue in which to discuss your issue.

As for the driver, here is the correct Synaptics driver for your model and Windows 10.......

At some point recently my multitouch stopped working. Regular mouse features work fine.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Synaptic driver. I read somewhere that you can go into the control panel and open the mouse device and adjust settings for the touchpad there, but mine only shows the mouse controls. I tried searching for the software for the Intelligent Touchpad, but can't seem to find the correct download for my Ideapad Y480 for Windows 8. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hello, sorry for poor post (novice!)

I have windows 7 32bit pre-installed with rescue disc program also pre-installed (have done that on two discs). Model is Toshiba Satellite Pro L450D-14V (had extra 2GB RAM installed, only had 1GB). It was supplied direct from BT after winning a competition.

When scrolling stop working, it was featured in control panel/mouse which I could click on and get settings which is where the vert/horiz. Enabling buttons are albeit they grayed out when I tried to click them on.

Since mucking about with drivers I now I have lost the synaptics touch pad feature, it only features a PS/2 compatible mouse but all I have is the touch pad, still workingl without scrolling?

Thanks for your interest

Answer:Satellite Pro L450D-14V - Scrolling feature stopped working

Hi Tony,

Welcome here in forum! No problem regarding your posting, it?s not difficult and we can discuss here about everything regarding Toshiba notebooks! :)

The scrolling feature is controlled by touchpad driver as you already wrote and if you lost this function I would recommend reinstalling the driver from official Toshiba website:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

On this page are two drivers listed: Alps Electric and Synaptics. You have to install both drivers!!!
After this you should be able to use virtual scrolling again :)

I am helping a friend who has an HP Pavilion dv9700t laptop, with Windows 7 Pro x64 installed. The laptop has been running fine until recently, when the Synaptic touchpad's scrolling ability stopped working. The touchpad has not been exposed to excessive heat or subjected to liquid damage, and no changes have been made to the Synaptic Preferences or the Mouse options in Control Panel. A different driver hasn't been installed over the existing one. He asked me to help him determine why it has stopped working, but I can't figure it out. The only thing I can think of that may have caused both the horizontal and the vertical scrolling to stop working could possibly be a Windows update, but trying to determine which one is the culprit (if any) is almost impossible. I've tried disabling and re-enabling the scrolling options, and I've deleted and reinstalled the driver, but no luck. Should I roll back to a previous version, or try something else?

The driver version is 15.0.17.4 and the Synaptics Touchpad version is V6.3, if that helps at all.

Answer:HP Pavilion Synaptic Touchpad scrolling stopped working

Hooray! Great news! I figured out what was causing the problems. It turns out that my friend had broken off one of the laptop keys, and in an attempt to get it to remain on the laptop, glued it back on to the keyboard, without telling me. I discovered this when I opened Wordpad to write some notes, only to find the 9 key displaying in an active line, like this: 99999999999999999

The key had been glued so firmly that it was permanently pressing as though someone were holding it down. As a result, the trackpad wouldn't scroll (as the 9 key also doubled as the right arrow key) and the BIOS would remain stuck on the initial boot screen until another key was pressed.

After removing the key, I scraped the dried glue off of it, reattached the plastic switch to the metal brackets on the keyboard so it snapped firmly back into place, and sternly lectured my friend about why superglue and keyboards do not mix.

The basic touchpad functions are OK, but the ability to scroll by dragging your finger along the right-hand side or bottom of the touchpad has disappeared.

I've tried re-installing the driver but no luck.

I've seen similar comments in another thread (http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=107615&#107615) where the solution suggested was to restore from the recovery CD.

This seems a bit drastic for a touchpad problem and I'm reluctant as I'm about 6 months in on this machine and don't really want to go back to scratch.

Any other ideas??

Thanks

Answer:Equium P300-16T - Touchpad scrolling has stopped working

Hmm, yes it?s drastically to use the Toshiba Recovery disk and to reinstall the whole system only to get back the touchpad functionality.
What you could do is to check if the touchpad scroll function was configured properly.

In control manager -> mouse you should find the necessary settings.

Furthermore the Equium P300 PSPC2E needs two touchpad drivers.
I don?t know what driver have you reinstalled but you should reinstall both; Synaptics and Alps Electric

Hi, I upgraded my OC to Windows 10 today, after the upgrade tapping and scrolling stopped working on the synaptics touchpad. the toucpad only finctions as a pointer now. for taps/Clicks i always have to use the buttons below the touchpad. It was working fine before the upgrade, the earlier OS was Windows 7 I have checked for driver updates but i get a message that the drvier is up to date.I have check the device setting and confirmed that tapping and scrolling is enabled.I have also done a device reset. Nothing solved the problem, i also did not find a relevant answer on the forums. Also, the same problem did not happen with my other HP laptop (Notebook PC) which was also upgraded to windows 10 recently. Does anyone have a solution? Regards,Siddharth.

Answer:Toupad Tapping and Scrolling stopped working after Windows 1...

@Siddharth_P?, Hello and thanks for posting on the HP support forums.  What you will need to do is the run the Windows Update Fixer tool.  Here is a link to help you with that.  Make sure you run all updates including optional. Fix Microsoft Windows Update Issues If that fails to work the only other option is to roll your system back to the original supported operating system that came with your notebook. Thanks again for the post and have a great day.

I got my Lenovo Yoga 710 in the summer of 2016, and everything works great except for the inactive scrolling. The inactive scrolling only works when I have an external mouse attached to my laptop, in which I am able to type in one window while scrolling in another window that's inactive. However, the inactive scrolling doesn't seem to work when I am using my trackpad and not an external mouse. I have updated all of my drivers, but I just don't understand why the feature would work only with the external mouse and not the trackpad. It is rather inconvenient to carry around an external mouse when the trackpad is supposed to do the job. I am coming from a Macbook Pro and I really miss the inactive scrolling that it provided.  I would really appreciate it if someone could please help me. Thanks! P.S. I do not have any third party software installed and the inactive scrolling feature is "enabled."

Why you don?t try to configure the touchpad settings again.
Did you check the settings in the control panel -> mouse ???
There should be a option and some touchpad properties which could be changed.

I'm running a Dell XPS 15 Laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.  My Synaptic Touchpad stopped working after I updated an academic research program called Papers.  I don't know if that program caused these problems or not, but I'm afraid of uninstalling it because I may lose a lot of data.  (Long story, it's an expired trial version, and to export the data I would have to pay a fair bit of money, which I'm trying to avoid.  Right now all I want is to be able to scroll again.)
Anyway, the pointer would just remain in the default place on the screen, and when I use the keyboard to navigate to the Mouse section of Control Panel it says it "Cannot Connect with Synaptics Pointing Device", etc.
So I uninstalled the Synaptics software, and restarted.  Now the touchpad works fine, but without any of the vertical or horizontal scrolling capabilities that the Synaptics software had.
So, here's the current situation: if I install the latest Synaptics touchpad driver from the Dell site, the touchpad doesn't work at all.  If I uninstall it, and reboot with just the PS/2 Mouse generic Windows driver, the touchpad works but without any scrolling options.
I updated the BIOS to A12 from A06, but it didn't fix the problem.
Thank you so much for any help and suggestions!  Let me know if you need any more info.
Aaron

I had a problem with two-finger scroll (2FS) in large Word documents. 2FS would not work in the document pane when the file is large. It would continue to work in any of the other panes (e.g., Navigation and Styles).  2FS worked fine in any other program. I tried all of the drivers available from HP and none seemed to work. I reloaded Office and that didn't fix anything. Finally, I went to the Synaptics site and downloaded their base driver for Windows 10 (19.0.19.1). That driver works fine. Not only does the base driver work, it has more features than the drivers available throuh HP. I think that, in the process of defeaturing the driver, something got screwed up. Use the basic Synaptics driver. I have not seen any problems wit the 19.0.19.1 driver.

I know it's possible on other makes of laptop so why does lenovo disable the single finger scrolling options in the touchpad configuration ? I have seen this on various different modelsEssentially its just a customised version of the standard Elantech software, you can easily enable it with Acer machines using Elan touchpads for example or Hp  ones with a synaptics touchpad and even on Dell ones using a slight workaround so how come lenovo have the options removed ?I personally don't mind so much but my parents being older struggle to use 2 fingers, having the option to enable it for them would have been a big benefit. As it stands they may well be returning their laptop for an Hp oneIt just seems like a pointless customisation of a perfectly good driver, I could possibly understand it for windows 8.1 with the charms and edge swipe etc but all that has gone with windows 10 anyway so why not have a different version of the driver for use with windows 8.1 and let windows 7 or 10 users be able to use their touchpad in the way they prefer

Answer:Z50 70 touchpad scrolling one finger?

Hi Cubeblast,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understood that you are looking to perform touchpad scrolling one finger in your Z50-70 laptop.

To perform one finger scrolling go to control panel, select mouse option under mouse select ultranav tab,

Under ultranav select touchpad setting under setting select the drop down option

Under the scrolling, you can find two option as one finger scrolling and two finger scrolling, select the two finger scrolling.

Disable the two finger scroll option by unticking on the enable option, click on apply and ok button and check for the issue.

Hope this helps. Do post back if issue persists!

Best regards,

I have a new T410 with UltraNav touch pad that does not always scroll and when it does its very choppy. - I have "Enabled Two-Finger scrolling" checked- Driver provider: Synaptics- Driver date: 4/22/2010- Driver version: 15.0.18.0 I am using windows 7 64bit. My wife has a macbook pro with two-finger scrolling that works flawlessly. Anyone else seen this problem or can point me in the right direction?

Answer:Two-Finger scrolling choppy at best

Put two fingers down on the touch pad then after a moment scroll down. You can't begin scrolling with two fingers right away. You must first "place" them on the touch pad, then drag them down. (This is the way my touch pad works.)

What's up everybody! I have a weird case of scrolling behavior in Chrome and Opera browsers. When I do the usual two-finger scrolling, the page "twitches" and "wiggles", sometimes you can see how it tries to increase the scale but then changes its mind - and weird squares around the place, where the cursor used to be, appear and disappear randomly. Almost like the page is not sure if I am scrolling, pinching or just moving the cursor. Worst part, quickly those squares go to the edge of the screen and scrolling simply stops, even the weird sporadic one. Firefox and IE scroll properly, with no apparent problems. Other Windows software scroll properly. The touchpad manufaturer is ALPS, the driver is the latest that tech support could give me. Deep in the driver options, there is an option called Zoom Perfect. When I disable it, scrolling in Chrome starts working as it should - but then two-finger scrolling in other places, like Windows Start Screen stops working at all. Anyone ha? problems like that before? Any known solutions? Thanks in advance.

I have seen one or two similar posts, but none quite like the problem I am experiencing, and none with a solution that works for me. Periodically, randomly, the 2 finger scrolling function on my y40 stops working. This used to occur maybe once a week, but recently it's been happening every day, sometimes more than once a day. I cannot determine any cause. Usually I am in google chrome when scrolling stops, but the scrolling stops functioning in all windows-- EXCEPT task manager, for some reason. If I open task manager, I can scroll within that window only, even while scrolling refuses to work in all other windows. Wen scrolling stops, I can still use 2 finger zoom, right-click-- I can do all of the other things I would do, just no scrolling (the one thing I use the most......)My synaptics driver is updated. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it. Checking and unchecking the 2 finger scroll functionality in synaptics properties does not help. What else can I possibly do to troubleshoot this problem? Right now, the only way I can re-enable 2 finger scrolling is to reboot my system, which is very, very annoying. Any suggestions would be welcome!

Hey, I'm a new lenovo user. The trackpad on my SL410 is nice, but the two finger scrolling feature is unacceptable. Its unresponsive, or zips me to the top of the page when I'm trying to scroll down. I've fiddled with all the controls available in the control panel and its made a big difference. But its still nowhere as smooth as a Mac, and I don't see any reason why it shouldn't.  Any drivers or something I can install that would help? Thanks for your help! james

Hello everyone I have a S440 (touch version) and some Problems with two finger scrolling on the touchpad.First, it isn't smooth, i.e.. If I move my fingers it only starts scrolling after a second or so, basically when I've already stopped (unless I move very slow). It then makes up for the lost time by scrolling very fast. The more serious problem (that makes it practically unusable) is that it randomly jumps back up, often to the top of the page/document, sometimes just a page or so. The problems are worst with firefox and acrobat, with IE and the Microsoft reader there's no response time problem but the jumping upwards still occurs. The problem is there with the preinstalled Windows 8 as well as my own Windows 8 Pro (with the original Lenovo drivers). Scrolling with the Trackpoint and an external mouse work fine, as well as scrolling via the touchscreen.  Does anyone have any suggestion if/how I can fix this?

Answer:Problem with two finger scrolling on s440

I had the problem of the page jumping to the very bottom/top on my S431. Try going to device manager and checking the driver version for the driver for the UltraNav pointing device. In my case, after rolling back the driver the problem went away. The version I am using now is 16.4.2.4, I believe the newer driver was something along the lines of 16.6.x.x The synaptics utility for setting up multi-finger gestures will revert to an older version and won't be as pretty anymore, but at least you'll be able to scroll like a normal human being  I hope this will help.
