Digitizer stopped working, but touch works - Thinkpad Yoga

Question: Digitizer stopped working, but touch works - Thinkpad Yoga

Today my digitizer stopped working for the first time since I purchased my Thinkpad Yoga several years ago. Touch screen still works as normal. I don't think it's software related because I dual boot Windows and Ubuntu and it doesn't work in either operating system. Before it would work in both operating systems, and I haven't had any updates since it was last working. Is it possible for the digitizer itself to be broken somehow? I haven't dropped the device or spilled any liquid on it. I've read elsewhere on the forum that the digitizer is powered by a capacitor that is charged within the laptop. Is this still true for Thinkpad Yogas? Are there steps I can take to diagnose the issue?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi I hope someone can help me. I have had my S1 for about 10 months now and i have had no issues with the pen and using it. I used the pen last weekend in lectures, taking notes with no issues or problems and have gone to use it today, as part of my assignment, and it just isn't working at all. It doesn't matter if its in laptop, tent or tablet mode, i get no resposne from the pen at all. I have had a look in the device manager and have no issue notifications, but likewise, i can't locate anythingthat i think looks like the digital pen drivers (nothing Wacom in there). I have searched around the forums and o-line and can't seem to find anything that might help me. Have even searched, without finding, how to unistall and re-install the Wacom drivers. If anyone has any suggestions on how to diagnose and resolve this problem i would be really happy to receive them. many thanks for your help Chris

Have had a Thinkpad Yoga S1 for several years and last week the pen stopped working.  I reinstalled the drivers and that didn't help.  Yesterday it started working again, but today it stopped again.  I ordered a new digitizer pen thinking it might be the pen, but the new one doesn't work either.  The touchscreen still work fine and I can write with my finger. Any idea what the problem my be?

Hello, I just received my new shiny TPY (again). The first time I got it, the digitizer wasn't working. After a bit of research I realized that it probably was a hardware issue (No digitizer, pen or wacom device in device-manager). So I send it back. The mainboard got replaced and today I have my machine back. It was all working fine including the digitizer. But from one minute to the other it stopped working and I can't find any wacom or digitizer devices in the device-manager.Now my first thought was, that the Windows updates messed something up, so I've done a rollback but it's still not working.Am I doing something wrong or is it a hardware issue again? Thanks for advance.Robinhuett

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga - Digitizer is not working

Hello. It isn't a Hardware Problem. It seems to be a software problem after Windows 8.1 Update. I have the same problem :-( When I start the PC it works perfect, until I used it as Tablet. After that the Digitizer Pen didn't work. So I reinstalled all drivers. After that the pen worked.. so I tested it again as Tablet, after that. the Digitizer Pen didn't work. Now I installed all drivers again but the Pen didn't worked. It is a big problem at Lenovo, because Lenovo has problems with the pen software a long time. It is soooo sad because I love the Thinkpad Yoga but with this Problem the price isn't acceptable. So I am going to send it back and wait for the Surface Pro 3. Because Thinkpad stands for the perfect Business Notebook and now... Lenovo has with the digitizer pen more problems than all others. And this is very sad :-(

Other than routine updates, I have done no major downloads, restores or changes to my ThinkPad Yoga and suddenly the pen is completely unresponsive. As a digital painter this is incredibly frustrating. I have NO IDEA where to begin trouble shooting this problem. Please HALP.

I just purchased a Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 14 with Win 10 installed.  After one day the touch screen and pen stopped working.  I called Lenovo for support and they were not able to help. In device manager, the touch screen and pen are grayed out with the hidden devices, which apperntly means that the hardware is no longer connected.  So how do you get the system to find the hardware?

I rebooted numerous times and updated drivers to no avail.

Can anyone help me?

My touch screen  has not been working for nearly two weeks now. I've tried updating drivers, restarting, and all the Googling I can handle. My "Pen and Touch" and "Tablet PC" options are missing from my control panel (although they've made a reappearance after installing a driver or two, they disappeared again after restarting). In System it tells me that "No Pen or Touch is available for this Display." I'm not even sure which item in the Device Manager is my touch screen, if any. What can I do to fix this??

Hi,I suddenly noticed that my touch screen is not working. I have tried to update driver for HID-compliant touch screen (however best driver was alread used). Also tried to disable/enable the device but still no function. I checked the "Events" for the driver and the last event was "Device not migrated" with the following message:"Device HID\VID_056A&PID_504A&Col06\6&2fac5222&0&0005 could not be migrated.Last Device Instance Id: {DEA5AE2A-D1FD-438A-A091-CBD484788436}\Vid_0000&Pid_0000\5&18534b98&0&02Class Guid: {745A17A0-74D3-11D0-B6FE-00A0C90F57DA}Location Path: Migration Rank: 0xF000FFFFFFFFF122Present: trueStatus: 0xC0000719" The pen driver seem to work though. I noticed that outside the visible area on the screen there is a small crack in the glass. Can that cause the touch screen to not function? Regards, Torsten

Hi, my Yoga 13 touch screen has been working fine until yesterday. The laptop came with Windows 8, and last year I upgraded to Windows 8.1 without issue. Yesterday, I installed optional update KB3000850 from Windows Update, and immediately the touch screen stopped working. I have tried the following methods, all without success: * Uninstall KB3000850 from Windows Update* Use Windows Restore to restore to the point before yesterday* Re-install Intel Chipset Driver from Lenovo official driver page* In Device Manager, uncheck all the "allow system to turn off to save power" options for the USB input devices under Human Interface Devices then restart* Two-button shutdown and restart* Install Lenovo Driver Manager and let it check for new drivers* Download Cando multi touch panel driver (Note: I could not install the driver because all I got was a .cab file which does not allow me to install) As of now my touch screen is still not working. Computer Information page from Settings shows that there is no touch or pen device for my screen. Can anybody help me with this? Thanks!

I got a new Lenovo Yoga 520 notebook a few days ago - initially everything was working fine, however now when I switch it into tablet mode the touch screen is completly unresponsive. I have done all the Lenovo system updates and windows 10 is up to date.  Has anyone experienced a simular issue and knows how I can fix this? Its still under warranty but I would prefer to try and fix myself if possible.

Hi all,I'm not sure if I posted in the correct forum and I'm new to this so bear with me.  So I bought this laptop around 5 months ago and only about 1 month ago the left side of the touch screen is not working. It would register that something is touching the bottom left side because I have my visual feedback turned on and after a half a minute of that, you can see it go haywire and register nearly the entire 1/3 left side. After 30 seconds of it going haywire, it would stop. And then either the entire left side or just the bottom left side would completely not register any touches at all. This wouldn't happen all the time, just every other day and definitely enough to be extremely annoying.  I bought my laptop in to get fixed for a completely unrelated problem because it's still under warranty and I told them about this issue but it doesn't seem like they fixed it and I'm thinking it's because it just didn't happen to happen to them when they had it. Also, I'm not sure if it's a software issue (since I don't think that's covered by warranty) or hardware. I have Windows 10 Pro, 64 bit OS, pen and touch support with 10 points.  Is there anyway that you guys can help me on this? It would be much appreciated.

Hi, I just bought a ThinkPad Yoga 460 and I have a strange problem. The internal keyboard does not work any more across operating systems, so this isn't software specific. However, the keyboard *does* work in the beginning a cold start until the operating system boots - I can enter the BIOS settings, navigate around there, I can enter the onboard diagnostics utility, everything works fine - until an operating system boots. If I just reboot without turning the computer off, the internal keyboard doesn't work. I even restored factory settings, so I am writing this from an Ubuntu Live USB with an external keyboard until I have figured out how to restore EFI, but the keyboard still isn't working. The problem occured after a long time of using only the external keyboard, so I can't exactly tell what I was doing when it happened. I'm guessing it has to do with the rotation sensor being stuck, but what would be the point of disabling the keyboard if it's physically impossible to press any buttons in tablet mode... Also, the touch pad keeps working anyway. I removed Windows from the laptop and I don't think there'd be an easy way to get it back, so I hope any solutions would work on Linux too. Best regards,Malte

Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga S1, Windows 8.1The touchscreen stopped working, although the pen works. How can I fix it?

Answer:Touchscreen stopped working, ThinkPad Yoga

I have the same issue.  This first occurred back in May or June when it all of a sudden stopped responding to touch.  Additionally, the auto-rotation was disabled as well as the trackpad lock when the screen is bent all the way back.  I finally got around to sending it in last week and earlier this week I got it back with a factory image loaded onto the machine.  After booting up, the touchscreen was working perfectly fine as was the auto-rotation and trackpad lock.  I then proceeded to start installing Windows updates and after the last installation, I discovered that the screen had become unresponsive again!  To me, this indicates that some update had disabled the screen and indeed, under Device Manager, the HID-compliant touch screen is noted as being disconnected.  I'm not entirely sure how to reconnect the screen, so if anybody has suggestions that would be appreciated. On a separate note, I called Lenovo software support and after explaining the situation to the technician on the phone, he then told me that I would have to buy software warranty for them to fix it.  This is ridiculous!  Why should I have to pay Lenovo to fix a problem that stems from a probable incompatibiity of their own software/drivers with Windows updates?  And after I complained about this hypocrisy, he even had the gall to suggest to me to talk with a "computer-savvy friend" who might be able to help.  I spent a lot of money on this machin... Hey, does anybody know which pens are compatible with the Yoga 460?For me the pen tip feels a bit too hard on the display. I've had the Note 10.1 2014 with a better Pen and bought a Lenovo stylus. But they were passive digitizers...

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga 260 & 460 Digitizer

Hi, welcome to the forums.

I can only talk from my experience.  I have ThinkPad Pen Pro 4X80H34887 on my Thinkpad Yoga 14 ( 20DM008UUS ).
http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/itemdetails/4X80H34887/460/41E9A3C3FB5A45A9AC47C56812E4188C

For what I know (I may be wrong) the Pen Pro uses Wacom technology, it has a battery inside. I found it very nice with a nice size... but it depends on personal taste.

Can you post the full model number of the computer you want to check it will work with the pen?
I know that the Thinkpad Pen Pro web page may not say much. So, what I saw it was recomended on this forum was:
1) Check your computer model against the PSRef Books: http://psref.lenovo.com/
See if your model is listed with "Active Pen" support.

2) There is more information about the Thinkpad Pen Pro here: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/acc100178

There is also the Thinkpad Yoga Pen , but I don't have experience with that one, some amazon review says it does not have batteries and it focus for replacement for Thinkpad Yoga that came with pen... but I don't know.

Regards.

I've seen several threads about this issue, but none that address my specific concern.

I have a ThinkPad Yoga 14. It did not come with a digitizer pen included. However, I suspect that the screen does in fact have a Wacom digitizer layer. My rationale is this:

My computer came pre-installed with the Wacom Pen Calibration Software
Device Manager reports the following HID devices:-- HID-compliant digitizer-- HID-compliant pen-- Wacom Device
When I run the Wacom Hardware Check (available here), it reports "You have hardware compatible with the Wacom FEEL driver."
All of the 20DM008 models listed at http://psref.lenovo.com/Product/179 support the active pen (I cannot find the 20DM008U++ model there for some reason)

However, the computer will not recognize the ThinkPad digitizer pen I purchased.

So, I suppose I have three questions:

Am I just misinterpreting what I am seeing in the Device Manager?
Is it possible that Lenovo installs the Wacom screen on all it's tablets, but disables them somehow on models not marketed as digitizer ready?
If so, is there any way for me to enable my screen to allow for digitizer use?

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga 14 - Digitizer Pen

Good day.

Looking at the models that support pen at the PSREF link you included, please notice that it specifies "Active Pen". This is not the same as the ThinkPad Digitizer Pen. That's why it won't work for you.

You need the newer, AAAA battery-powered Active Pen. Apologies, but I don't have a link for it.

Hi, After working out that my laptop (Thinkpad Yoga S1) most likely has a digitizer, I purchased a pen for it. However, since I wasn't 100% sure, I bought a cheaper, off-brand pen that people said was compatible, the listing for which can be found here. I received it today, but my computer seems unresponsive when I try to use it. When I went to Wacom Pen or Pen and Touch Input, the pen calibration screens were either blank (Wacom) or didn't load (Input). Is there something else I have to do to make my pen work? Did I purchase the wrong pen? If it helps, the pen slot on my computer is still plugged; I was going to unplug it, but to do so I'd have to remove the back paneling, and one of the screws keeping it in place has been stripped. The thread confirming that my laptop has a digitizer is here. Thanks!

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga digitizer pen

Hi

Please notice that this is my personal opinon and it does not mean I'm 100% right, this is based on my experience.

I think that the "Digitizer PEN for Lenovo ThinkPad X60 X61 X200 X201" is for older Thinkpad models. I have a Thinkpad Yoga 14 (Similar to S1) (20DM008UUS) and it has a digitizer screen, but it requires an "active pen" (with batteries inside) to be able to work with the digitizer.

I have the Thinkpad Pen Pro and it works fine with my model. I still think you have a digitizer on your laptop but I think it is the wrong pen.

Here it also some more info about the pen that Amy wrote.

This began about six months ago. I picked up my laptop and it was unresponsive and the red logo lights was blinking. I forced shutdown with the power button and restarted it. When it was back on I could get power but no data transfer from any usb ports, the touch screen didn't work, and if i let it sleep it automatically went unresponsive with the same error light. I checked for viruses. None. I updated all possible drivers. Nothing. I even restored my computer to factory settings and reinstalled windows. Nada. I use it heavily for school, so I haven't had time to send it in for warranty. One day, I turned it on and everything worked again. Wonderful. A couple days later I opened it and it was back to its previous state. PLEASE HELP

Hello, I got my ThinkPad Yoga 15 about 2 weeks ago and all of a sudden the touchscreen stopped working today, so I rebooted but nothing happened. Windows doesn't recognize the Touchscreen HID Device anymore and reinstalling doesn't help. I think it's a hardware fault as the bottom middle of the screen heats up shortly after booting and the head spreads around the bottom half of the display (which wasn't the case before, when the Touchscreen still worked.)  I got the machine as an on-display from a store, it was refurbished and still has Lenovo warranty. My question is if this is covered by warranty. If not I would be very upset since this would be the second ThinkPad product in the last 2 years that broke shortly after buying and didn't get repaired.  Regards, Ken Hutchinson

I think there is only two options it either comes with the pen or it doesn't. The one that doesn't have the pen built into it doesn't support the pen because of the panel used. That is waht I remember when I was researching into this unit.

Hi, Could somebody please point me to the place where it list the digitizer in the Thinkpad Yoga as a Wocom? I see it all over in review sites, but I can't find it in the description or the product specifications. I'm interested in this model:20CD00AVUS, which I know includes a digitizer, but I want to make sure its definitely Wacom... they all just say "digitizer". So I guess what I am trying to figure out is:1. Are ALL digitizers installed in Thinkpad Yoga's the same, or do they vary in brand/quality?2. How can I find out if its a Wacom? Thanks for the help.

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga - Wacom Digitizer?

First off the digitizer technology consists of two parts the digitizer enabled screen and the digitizer pen. Second i'd say all the TPYs have the same digitizer Technology (both screen and pen) licensed from Wacom. So the pen itself is probably prdouced by Lenovo or a third party. --- By the way other products like the Surface Pro, Vaio Duo or Galaxy Note have the same technology built in and you can use there respective digitizer pens for the TPY as well.

Solved!

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga Digitizer Question

the digitiser pen on Helix, TPT2 and Yoga all lack the traditional eraser function of the traditional ThinkPad X series tablet. There is a side button on the digitiser pen, which you can use for eraser function. Alternatively, get the X series tablet digitiser pen which has an eraser function, they work with the ThinkPad Yoga (and is what i am using now).

I just purchased a refurbished Thinkpad S1 Yoga from outlet. The description mentioned nothing about coming with a pen or having digitizer compatibility although these descriptions are generally not very detailed to begin with. I was reading that some of these machines (FHD) with the same specs as mine don't come with a pen nor  compatibility and am not sure if those two features can exist separately.  I think the newer versions all have both. Is there a way to tell if mine's compatible or not? I don't think it will come with a pen and I don't want to open the box before finding out. Part number if it helps: MP053KKL-20CDCTR1WW Thanks.

Hello,I just bought a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 12 (20DL000SIX) that does not come with the pen apparently (I still have to receive it physically), but *does* have the full HD capacitive screen multitouch (1920 x 1080).I also bought separately the Thinkpad Yoga digitizer pen (4X80F22110).I spent a lot of time to understand if the two are compatible (i.e. the wacom digitizer is installed or not on the laptop), and on Lenovo website, following Products -> Accessories&Software -> Search For Compatible Accessories For Your System, it looks that indeed they are:http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/catalog.workflow:find-compati... I see that there are multiple posts on similar issue, confirming that the communication of Lenovo about pens and digitizer is really inadequate.I read in many places that the thinkpad yoga's that don't come with the pen do *not* have the digitizer. I also read that the full HD screens does have te digitizer. So, I'm getting confused...: my yoga does have the full HD but does not come with the pen included! There is no clear information anywhere and also the Lenovo  support (I called on the phone many times) is not satisfactive on this.Does anyone have the same model, or have a more clear idea on this topic? Thanks!Giulia

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga 12: digitizer? (20DL000SIX)

Hi giulsi

I also agree with you on this subject. There is much confusion with the "pens" on Thinkpad Yogas.
I think that Lenovo should specify better on the webpage (shop) which Thinkpad Yoga came with Active Pen, and on the Pen pages (also on the shop page) they should specify which models apply for it, and where to search if you computer has support for it.

How to know if you Thinkpad Yoga is Pen Compatible?
For the moment one thing that works to know if your Thinkpad is "Pen Compatible" is to search on the PSRef books.
http://psref.lenovo.com/
or
http://psref.lenovo.com/Book

I searched your model:
http://psref.lenovo.com/Detail/ThinkPad_Yoga_12?M=20DL000S%2B%2B
It says it has:

Pen
Digitizer pen

So that's good......
There are other models that says "Active Pen".. not sure if that means it only works with the "Thinkpad Pen Pro" or not.

How to resolve the question of which pen is good for you?
Thinkpad Yoga Pen suppor page:
https://support.lenovo.com/ec/es/documents/pd030464
It says "The ThinkPad Yoga Pen supports the ThinkPad Yoga." So it may also work.

I'm guessing that it will work, but please post back when you get your pen to see if it works with your model.
Regards

Hi everyone. I am looking to buy a laptop for university (studying engineering). I would like something that is durable, and powerful. Thats why I am looking into getting the Thinkpad Yoga. I love the convertable and compact feel, as well as the SSD that I will be getting with it.  However, another reason why I wanted to get it is because of the 'Active Digitzer'. I didn't even know what this was called since a week ago, and I still cant seem to understand what this feature will allow me to do? How does the Digitzer benefit me? Especially when I compare it to the Yoga Pro 2 (even tough that also has a touchscreen). Am I unable to draw on a YP2? Would I not be able to draw on the screen? I want to use it mainly when I use Adobe Illutrator. Is the Digitzer option worth the extra money I have to pay? With that feature added on, I will be paying almost $2000 :s

Hi there: I have been using X230T, a predessor of Thinkpad Yoga. X230T also comes with a digitizer. I bought X23)T also for a reason: I can take note during class. I am not an engineer but a finance student. 1. You might want an Active Digitizer because it allows you to write on-screen. Use Microsoft One Note. Your computer can replace your pen and paper.2. You can still draw on YP2. But what do you feel when you use your finger, say your pointer, as a pen  YP2 does not have a digitizer pen. 3. The pen I believe is included. You do not have to pay extra unless you want to have a spare one. 4. I think Lenovo Thinkpad has lost its quality legacy from IBM. I do not like the new layout of the keyboard (I like the trackpoint but the moust click now share with the trackpad. It is just ridiculous. You cannot have an accurate click with it (for me))5. Just look at the Microsoft new Surface pro 3. You might like it! If the next time I upgrade my computer, I would by a Surface pro instead of the Thinkpad.   Cheers

Hi! I would like to buy this Thinkpad yoga model and I would like to know if the screen is digitizer enabled and it comes with the pen. What is the storage capacity on this model?I asked various vendors from this site and everybody tells me something different... http://www.shopbot.ca/pp-lenovo-thinkpad-s1-yoga-i5-4300u-20c0001hus-lenovo-price-483964.html

Answer:20C0001HUS Thinkpad Yoga with digitizer?

So the majority of the vendors told me that the storage is 180Gb SSD and that the digitizer pen is not included. Anyway the screen is an fhd1920 x 1080, so my question is... If I buy a pen somewhere willl I be able to use the digitizer stylus anyway?Thank you

So like I do from time to time, I'm configuring a Thinkpad Yoga to mull over (window shopping until I can afford one) when I notice that there's no mention of a digitizer or pen functionality any more, anywhere. Did something happen to it? Pen support was a deal breaker for me.

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga - Digitizer not available anymore??

I noticed this missing info too when ordering my custom ThinkPad Yoga, so at checkout I added pen from the optional accessories. When my laptop arrived, it came with two pens! One inside the laptop package, and another in separate box. I suppose it might be their website issue or country-specific supply issue.

I've read that the 20cd0032us and 33us Thinkpad Yoga models are the only ones without an active digitizer.  However, this appears to be all that is for sale on Amazon and other places.  Any idea of where you can but a Thinkpad Yoga with an active digitizer??

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga w/ active digitizer

They are only available on Lenovo's website as far as I've seen. I tried looking other places like Amazon, too, but haven't seen the digitizer model. I ended up buying one directly.

Hi, I have a lenovo thinkpad yoga (without a digitizer pen). Unfortunately, I found that there is an option of a pen after I bought it. Is there a way I can somehow add the digitizer screen to it now?I have been searching for weeks for a solution. I have even tried using a normal capacitive pen but, it does not work as fluidly as a digitizer pen.

Hi, Today (or last night, not sure) three columns of my TPY 460's digitizer seem to have stopped working. Two of them are right next to each other, the third one a little further to the right. (I'm guessing the number of columns by the distance of the small dots that you can see on the display when you look at it from an angle). When I tap the pen onto the two defective columns, nothing happens, when I drag it across, it stops on one side and then jumps to the other. It's similar for the single column, but there isn't a complete stop and a jump, more of a non-linearity, the cursor moves slower, then faster, then slower again. For finger touch, the problem is similar. Is this a common problem that can be fixed by properly plugging  some cables or should I return the computer? (It's a demopool device, so I have no warranty, but I can return it within two weeks without a reason).

Hey, just in case someone is interested in pressure sensitivity for the Thinkpad Yoga.Try this driver from wacom ;-)http://www.wacom.eu/index4.asp?pid=9278&lang=de This morning I had a phone call with the Lenovo Support Europe regarding the subject, but all they were able was to tell me to send my brand new Yoga in. I can not tell you how disappointed I am from this support. They are hardly to understand and they know nothing!!! As an early adopter of the Thinkpad Tablet 1 this was not my first experience with them and the only reason to buy the Yoga was that there is no alternative for my kind of usage. Nevertheless I found the solution by my self and I can't tell you how happy I am. Not to be misunderstood, this is a problem of the european support I don't believe (or hope) that it is the same with the US support and especially the Lenovo Staff in this forum does a really good job!

No idea what happened. I was using the laptop without issue and suddenly the trackpad and trackpoint (and left/right click buttons) all stopped working. Went and grabbed a wired mouse, that works fine, as does the keyboard. Any ideas? I have been through the control panel settings and absolutely nothing has changed. Tried turning it off and on again, and truning the settings for each option off and on and reset to default, and nothing. Please help! This sucker is way to new for this...

I am experiancing a strange problem with the pen/ digitiser: after waking up from standby, the pen seems to go into a frenzied clicking when i touch it to the screen, i.e. as if the pen is tapping the screen continously at very high speed. The problem goes away upon restarting the machine but comes back after standby. I have installed all windows and lenovo updates to no avail...any one familiar with the issue?

Answer:Thinkpad yoga 12 2015, pen digitizer issue after standby

On certain occasions after wake up from standby, the pen seems to stop working completely until a restart. It seems to be very intermittent.I looked for updates to the wacom driver on wacoms website, with no luck. Strangely enough, the current driver being used for the thinkpads (and presumably all tablet pc's) comes under their 'Legacy' drivers section!

Hello all, apologies if this is a duplicate issue, but my searches did not turn anything up. I just received my new TPY a couple of days ago and have been happily installing software. Today was the first time I really tried using my digitizer pen, as I finally had time to open Photoshop and Illustrator. In doing so, however, I discovered pen calibration is completely messed up for the top edge of the screen. I tested it outside of the Adobe programs and the same problems occur there. I have already gone in and tried recalibrating my pen more than once using the calibration tools in the Control Panel. Is this a known issue that I just need a driver update for or is this a hardware issue? Any help is appreciated. Thanks,Erika

I have just purchased the ThinkPad Yoga. I was wondering if there is a way to change what "handedness" you on when using the digitizer pen. I am left handed and the pen is obvioulsy configured to be used with your right hand. So when I write using the pen the writing and the pen tip to not match up like it is supposed to. It matches perfectly if I were to write something with my right hand but when I use my left hand, the writing is off (as in the letters do not match up to where I wanted to write them) Any information on this would be great, kind of anoying for trying to add notes in class. Thanks

Received my ThinkPad Yoga today - i7 ? 8 Gb - 256 Gb SSD - Win 8.1 pro ? One major problem ? the touch screen stops responding to finger intermittently. It always responds to the stylus. Updated all the Lenovo drivers and did Windows updates. When it stops responding, the only way to get it to work is by doing a shut down ( restart does not work ). Read the forums and disabled and enabled HID-compliant vendor-defined device. That did not make any difference. Is this a common issue and is there a software fix for it or is it just a faulty screen?

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga 20CDCTR1WW - Touch Screen not responding to touch - intermittent

Hi Waferthin,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I?m sorry to hear that you are facing the issue with Touch screen on ThinkPad Yoga.

To resolve the issue please follow the below troubleshooting steps.

Remove the Wacom touch gesture driver in the device manager and make sure to check "uninstall driver" when you do so otherwise the touch will stop working again a minute later.
And after that restart the system and the touch screen driver will automatically install.
In services.msc restart human interface device service to run automatically.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Hemanth Kumar

Good day. I purchased a manufacturer refurbished ThinkPad X220t  with warranty for one year. The laptop came with a factory seal. When I turn on a notebook,  the operating system(win 7 Prof 64bit) automatically install. At the end of installation in device manager  all devices have been identified and worked fine.  But in computer details in the "system" was written ?No Pen or Touch Input is available for this display?. Then I installed all the drivers on a laptop from Lenovo website again and again. That did not help. Then I reinstalled windows (win 7 Prof 32bit). That did not help. Previously, I had two X200t and when I installed windows 7, the digitizer immediately was detected, for the good work of  the touchscreen it was necessary to install drivers. But the situation with the X220 for me incomprehensible. Explain what I did wrong. The type of ThinkPad printed on the back label is 4294-CTR(in BIOS the type is 4294-CTO).

Hello. Here is my problem, I searched the net for a solution, haven't found.I have a Lenovo X60, model 6366 - with both capative touchscreen and digitizer pen. I worked fine until recently when I have to apply extreme pressure to hear the sound for touching - both touchscreen and digitizer pen.I had installed some of the recommended drivers from the Lenovo support center - for example, the multitouch driver (which didn't work). What is strange is that everything worked fine until recently; maybe it has something to do with the hinge problem - the hinge became very loose (I suspect someone dropped my computer), now I searching for a way to open and tighten it.Details:- I am running Windows 7 32-bit;- the digitizer worked well - even holding the pen over the screen (hovering, not touching) moved the pointer;- the touchscreen worked too - with a bit of pressure, but a reasonable amout of it, I could use my computer;- after I ran TuneUp 2013 StartUp Manager it disabled "Tablet Shortcut Menu", "Tablet Button" and "TSMResident" and the buttons on the screen stopped working - for example, I cannot change the orientation of the screen; I reenabled the programs, tried running the exe-files, but the buttons do not work anymore;- I have never succeeded to make multitouch work (the latest Wacom drivers - ISD_DualTouch_710-8 - made Windows say I have no touchscreen and no digitizer devices...); pressure sensitivity never worked too; a very nice diagnostics tool showed this (now it say... Hi, vader11111

Your suspicion of possible damage to your machine could be correct, but there are a few other updates/changes that you might be able to try to see if that solves/helps your issue.

You've updated the drivers, but have you updated the BIOS? The BIOS being up to date can sometimes help several issues. You can also check the drivers on the support site to make sure you have the latest drivers. I know you've updated them from Lenovo Support Center, but I always recommend people to check the support website just to make sure. You can find the drivers and BIOS updates for your machine here. You can filter the results by searching the types of drivers you are seeking in the first dropdown box and Windows 7 in the second box.

Hope it helps, and let me know how it goes,
Adam

I have just received my new x200 tablet with multi touch and immediately upgraded it to WIndows 7. I can not get the digitizer pen nor finger gestures to work on the screen. Other than drivers, I'm not sure what you can do to troubleshoot it. I know it works in Win 7, since I've read several reviews about the Windows 7 experience on the x200. Seth

Answer:ibm thinkpad x41 1866-cxu digitizer pen not working

Couple of questions for you: 1) How did you reinstall windows? Did you use the IBM Recovery CDs *, Reload the OS with F11 *,  or install a market version of XP Tablet? * I'd highly recommend using the original IBM image to ensure there are no issues with drivers!! 2) Did you update all the Tablet drivers? If not, go to this website to install the driver: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-60154 You may want to also use the ThinkVantage System Update Tool to check for missing drivers (Start->Programs->ThinkVantage->System Update) - If you don't have our original preload installed, download this utility from here:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=TVSU-UPDATE This should at least get you started. Best,Mark

Hey everybody, I just received my P40 last week as a replacement for another Lenovo device. So far, everything seems to work fine with one exception: When I turn the screen over to the "tablet position", the touch screen and the touch pen show erroneous behaviour.a) As soon as I make the first input with the touch pen, I cannot make any further input with my finger, so the touch input is simply turned off. The Windows setting to ignore touch input when the stylus is used is not active.b) When I try to tap buttons at certain areas of the screen, especially at the upper edge, the cursor of the stylus starts jumping around and shows up at the lower edge of the screen. That means that when I for example tap on the "X" symbol in the upper right corner to close a window, I actually click on some of the symbols in the system tray in the lower right corner. This problem stops occuring as soon as the angle between the two case parts (screen and keyboard) reaches/exceeds approx. 40°. It does not matter if Windows is in "Tablet" or "Desktop" Mode. I already tried to manually install another Wacom driver mentioned at https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Wacom-Tablet-Service-for-ISD-Driver-Win... and https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/P40-Yoga-issues/td-p/3293985. Hey Guys I'm stumped. I just did my yearly refreash of the operating system. Reinstall Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit. When I first install everything it works just fine but then it looks like either windows update or lenovo software update attempts to update the digitizer driver and the pen starts to act like a mouse. The tablet is mutlitouch and those functions are not effected just the digitizer. If I reinstall again the same thing happens. I am not sure of where to get the correct drivers as it appears that Lenovo doesn't have them. What do you guys think.

Answer:X201T Digitizer Driver stopped working

Yes, I ran a system update last night (which installed "multi touch" and "nav point" drivers) and I woke up today to find my computer no longer recognizes pen nor touch input.  This is a huge problem -- is Lenovo aware of this? EDIT: I also installed a generic Windows update, which installed "Wacom Two Finger Touch" drivers.  I did them both at the same time so I'm not sure which update was responsible for breaking touch.  On the Computer -> Properties screen, it states that this display does not accept pen or touch input.

I posted a similar question earlier and people referred me to the Yoga (much appreciated).  However, I was interested in the 2.6 lb carbon version with touch screen capabilities.  Asus has a Spin 7 model that is very good at 2.65lb, but I miss the red mouse toggle in the middle of the keyboard and Asus's track pad was designed too large....causing unintended tapping.  The Yoga, while nice, is heavier than I was looking for.  The 14 inch screen is about 3.3lb? the 12 inch at 3? I thought that some of the earlier Thinkpad Carbons had touch screen and was hoping they would make a return soon.  Thanks,

I just got a brand new Yoga 12, and it has the integrated stylus in the laptop. When i first set it up, I was able to use the stylus to hand write in a program like one note. Let's say I close my laptop, and walk to a different room, when I open it back up from sleep mode, touch screen still works, but the computer doesn't respond at all to the stylus. No handwriting support, no touch support with the pen, only my capactive fingers. I find this very odd, and it works when I restart, but this seems to be a common issue with my peers who have Yoga 12's as well. Is there a fix for this? my wacom drivers are up to date, not sure if I should buy another stylus if this issue is recurring or not.

I have a problem where the digitizer pen interittently stops working on the yoga S1 - win8.1 x64 with all updates applied.I can re-create the issue by folding the screen from normal mode to  tablet mode, then normal mode , then tablet mode. At this point, the pen susually stops working. I can get it to come back to life sometimes if i wait a minute, or if i go to power settings and apply / un apply something or by restart. It sounds like a driver issue to me - and possiby power management drivers - triggered by swithcing to tablet mode.I have tried max perfromance, min power savings etc to stop the screen driver being starved of power, have disabled sleep and hibernation. Done multiple driver re-installs, but no difference. Sometimes restarting the drivers relating to the pen and touch screen bring it back to life. But it should not die in the first place. Anyone else have this or do i have a hardware issue?

Nothing in manual under troubleshooting. Any quick fix suggestions have likely been tried, but open to all ideas. If all else fails, and assuming the digitizer is bad, what does repair entail and any rough estimate? Is there any recall? hi c2nah777,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Have you tried booting the system in Recovery Mode (One Key Recovery), You're not going to Recover the system since your only going to check the touchscreen in that mode "Outside Windows"

See if the touhcscreen works there,
If Yes, I would suggest doing a factory Reset First Before jumping into a hardware Repair.
If No, Then I think you're correct with the digitizer.

ThinkPad Yoga 12 running windows 7.
The touch pad stops working shortly after I log on. Especially after waking from Sleep. I'll get to the login screen but I have to use my stylus to get to the username field. I can type my password with no problems, but the touch pad won't move at all.
The only fix is a reboot, but it doesn't fix it permanently.
I've updated the BIOS, downloaded the latest syaptics pointer drivers, and chipset drivers. I ran a virus scan, which came up empty.
We have several users who all got their Yoga 12's brand new in September.
Now, many of them are having this trouble with the touch pad.
Any ideas? Suggestions?

Thanks!

Ok, so I got my Yoga 2 Pro 5 days ago. It was been working great until today. I turned it on and I noticed that the on screen volume indicator was active and at 100%. I pushed and held the volume down button and the indicator went down but as soon as I let it go, it goes all the way back up to 100% volume as if a ghost is making it happen. The volume indicator will not disappear. So I thought that maybe I did something wrong. I restarted the computer and nothing changed. Here is what else I've noticed: Volume indicator stays on all the time and will not disappearOn screen touch keyboard is inoperable, comes up but goes down immediately.Touchpad is unresponsive and swipe gestures don't work on the touchpad. The on screen start button (on the windows taskbar) doesn't work. Is not clickable. When I open apps, they open minimized and start blinking orange on the taskbar. In my office documents, when I right click, menu immediately disappearsI uninstalled and reinstalled the audio and touchpad drivers. Didn't work. It seems that something is either being depressed or is hungup or conflicting. I can't figure out what it is. I haven't tried much else, so I don't know if other features aren't working.  This is driving me crazy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Ok, so I've completely reinstalled Windows and I still have the same issues. I guess I have a lemon. Going to bring this back and get a replacement.

I've lost the use of my keyboard, but not the touch pad. Restarting and converting to table mode and back doesn't correct the issue. Thoughts? I'm not sur where to go from here. Could the keyboard be physically dead?

Answer:Yoga 2 Keyboard not working, but touch pad and touch screen fine

You should test the keyboard in the BIOS menu and see whether it works. 1) Press on the recovery button (next to the power button, you may need a small screwdriver). https://www.flickr.com/photos/lead_org/11617761143/in/set-721576390073780542) Then there is an option menu for entering recovery, bios, etc. https://www.flickr.com/photos/lead_org/14512183979/in/set-72157639007378054Use your keyboard and see whether it works in that option menu. If it doesn't work then it is a faulty keyboard.

My wife got a refurbished Yoga 2 not too long ago, and it had some quirks, but I was able to get them ironed out. Now I've encountered an issue I can't seem to figure out.

The machine fires up, but the screen does not come on at all. I hooked up the mini HDMI to the TV, and am currently able to use it as a monitor.

The touch on the screen works, as I can move around the mouse using my fingers on the screen.

I've tried changing settings, check hardware manager (says functioning properly), checked for new drivers, etc.
To my knowledge there are no new things installed or anything of the sort.

Any suggestions on what to try?

Thanks in advance!

So bit of a curious problem, and also one that I can replicate rather consistently: When going between pen and touchscreen use, there is a period of time during which touches are not registered. In laptop mode this is approximately half a second. In tablet mode it's anywhere between 5 and 15 seconds. Anyone see this issue before? Anyone know any good diagnostic techniques (and please don't just tell me to update the drivers. Theyre all updated.) This has been an issue for nearly half a year now, however I've only recently found real use for the machine in tablet mode, hence why I am taking action now rather than half a year ago.

Screen was cracked so I replaced the screen.  Now touch doesn't work. There is no "Pen and Touch" and "Tablet PC Settings" in Control Panel.  In PC info it says, "No pen or touch input is available for this display." Touch DOES work on LENOX as I ran it from a usb drive, so it is not a hardware problem. I have reinstalled Windows. I have another Yoga 2 Pro and comparing Device Manager in both I see no differences. How can I get the touch to work again?

Answer:Touch no longer works after replacing screen for Yoga 2 Pro

I've just reinstalled Windows 10 on this laptop and the touchscreen no longer works or is recognized. The device manager does not even list a touch-device under human interface devices, and the settings app reports that Pen & Touch is unavailable. I manually installed the intel chipset and display drivers from the support pages, but it has not made any differences. Does anyone have some insight as to why this might be happening?

I have ben dealing with problems with this touch screen since I got the laptop.  It has been continuously ghosting, while it got better after the June update, it still ghosts without touches, until you start using the touch screen.  When using the touch screen it starts drawing gray lines in between the point im touching and the point its ghosting to (the lines arent always direct). I recently wiped my the drive, reimaged to a backup from april and tried reupdating it.  When I got to the touch screen drivers, I got through the initial setup and told it to open the update when finished but the machine froze.  Now when I try to reinstall, I get to the finish page on the update tools install, have it open the updater, but the program immediately closes.Any help would be much appreciated.

Since there is no way to see the X1 Yoga in person and try it out before buying I'm a bit concerned about how it handles the usage of active pen in combination with touchscreen functions. Does it block out any touch input while the stylus in near the display surface? This would be less than desirable since a lot of graphics software and on-screen keyboard shortcut apps require simultaneous use of both.

I am experiencing problems with the touch screen on ThinkPad Yoga 14. Sometimes it recognizes 1 tap as more taps. When typing some letters are pressed more than once or when scrolling through a webpage it randomly zooms (zoom is caused by the falsely recognized double tap gesture). Sometimes it happens more often (several times per minute), sometimes it is working fine. I really have no idea what could be affecting the touch screen responsiveness this way. The notebook was bought in June, it is a version with a GeForce 840M and without a digitizer. The issue was present in Windows 8.1 Pro and is still present in a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro. I have contacted the support on this matter. They replaced the whole LCD. For some time it seemed OK, but now the issue is back. I have been in contact with the technician and he's clueless what could be causing it other than the LCD. Any ideas? It makes the tablet mode almost completely useless.

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga 14 touch screen misbehavior

Hi Knight1 I have a similar machine but I'm not experiencing this problem. I don't know if you did it before but it can be good to start updating your drivers. If you do not have experience with that try using the "System Update" utility from Lenovo. If you do not have it already installed check it here. Update the BIOS, video and recommended driver. Sorry it is not a solution but maybe you can try to see if there if some touchscreen driver can be updated. Regards

I have updated all of my drivers from the Lenovo Yoga 13" site.  I read on here to pay special attention to the Synaptics driver, mine is 16.2.21.4 from Synaptics.  When I flip in to tablet mode my mouse moves around when I touch it.  Also the F6's "disable touchpad" doesnt work.  Its really annoying to not be able to use it as intended.  Anyone have a fix for this?

Answer:Yoga 13" - Touch Pad not disabled in tablet mode/F6 No longer works.

hi OmegaNine,

Sorry to hear what happened,

1. Can we Try this,
Go to Control Panel / Programs and features/ uninstall a program
Look for the Synaptics Software, Uninstall it there.

2. Go to Device Manager and look under "mice and game controllers" and make sure it does not say Synaptics there.
If it Does Uninstall it as well and put a check on the box if it asked "delete driver software"

If the system did not asked you for a restart, Restart the system Manually.

Open Device Manager again and open the category Sensor
  like on this photo
     http://www.codeproject.com/KB/system/wiisensor/wiisensor11.png
Uninstall everything under Sensors but DO NOT put a check on the delete driver Software.

Restart

Download and install this driver
Synaptics TouchPad Driver for 64-bit WindowsRestart after installation and Check if You still have the Issue.

Hope this helps
Cheers!!

Hello, I have a thinkpad helix that was working really well for the past 14 months. Now I have a pretty bad issue. The display is not showing anything, but when I connect the machine to an external monitor,  I can see that the computer and the operating system is fine and I can interact with the laptop. The touch screen also works and I can navigate to where I want based on what I see on the external monitor.  But there is nothing that is displayed on the screen. Its basically blank and dark. Does anyone have any ideas? Please help. Having to always connect to an external monitor is not an option for me. Thank you.

I bought my Yoga 370 in the summer and I should have asked this earlier. Also in the summer, I reinstalled Windows completely. Afterward (I am not really sure if it happened before, but I don't think so), the pen would only write at certain angles: only when held so that the buttons are under my thumb, and also considerably inclined (it cannot be close to perpendicular to the screen). I have been doing ok with this limitation for a while, but it is really bad for the ergonomy, and it's a pity I can't feel more free to just write on the screen in whatever position and angle. But now I really want this to be fixed. 80% of the time, I use the Yoga 370 to write notes in OneNote. Any ideas what could be wrong? Software or hardware? Do I have any rights to get a new pen if that is the problem?

I've had my Yoga for about a week now and only have found one issue. The right speaker works great, though the left speaker doesn't work at all. I didn't notice it right away since the right one was so loud, but I did use an audio program and panned the sound from the left to the right and it only worked on the right side. When using headphones both speakers work well in the ears, but not on the actual speakers. Anybody else have the same issue or know of a fix? thanks! Kevin

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga 14 - One Speaker Works

Hi Kevin.
Welcome to the forums.

Can you check a little bit more on the "Control Panel - Sound - Playback tab" and do some test and checks the configuration of the sound device?

Check the "Configure Speakers" and "Test" so you can test the stereo of the device.

If you don't find anything else, my second guess will be to try to update the Audio driver of that machine. Can you please post the full model number of your machine to point you to the device driver?

Regards

I recently discovered a vertical band where the touchscreen is half-dead in a vertical band.  If I draw horizontally quickly over the vertical band, it will draw over.  However, drawing vertically and drawing slowly horizontally over the dead area is not detected.  Refer to the picture where the white space is between the two orange lines.    I'm using my finger (touch input).  The screen is Wacom ready but I don't have a Wacom pen. Any suggestions?

It's hard to be sure without seeing it, but I am guessing that some of the fine wires in the digitizer are cracked.  Are you under warranty?

Hello Lenovo Forum, I installed Xubuntu on my Thinkpad Yoga 14 and one day I tried to poke around and click the mouse button during boot time. Then I had the magical on-screen virtual keyboard popping up on the GRUB menu. You can see a photo of the on screen virtual keyboard here: http://imgur.com/p6JUrQr I also give a video showing how to activate the keyboard: Basically, clicking left mouse button (either the one on the trackpoint or an external mouse can work) will bring up the virtual keyboard. You need to touch it quickly, because every time any content on the screen changes (in this video, that is the countdown which refreshes every second) the keyboard will disappear. Touching the a key on the Virtual keyboard is equivalent to pressing the corresponding physical key. In this video I clicked Down Arrow, Up Arrow and Enter and booted Xubuntu. The Keyboard shows only in the GRUB Menu, as far as I have tested. It does not pop up in BIOS even if you click the left mouse button in BIOS. Is there a more detailed description of this Keyboard available? I searched "Thinkpad Yoga 14 virtual keyboard grub" but got no useful results, so the Keyboard looks like a secret, an easter egg or some maintenance mode to me. Personally I think this keyboard will make it very convenient for those who use the Yoga in tent mode / presentation mode / tablet mode and need to reboot across Linux and Windows and have no external USB keyboard and do not want to co... I have recently purchased lenovo thinkpad x1 yoga from Germany. I have tried to install different versions of linux ubuntu in dual boot, but none of them seems to work. It boots from the bootable usb and gives the live ubuntu and install ubuntu options but when you enter then it displays a blank screen and nothing happens afterwards. I am facing another issue pretty consistently that the touch screen becomes unresponsive most of the times. When i use the pen it works fine but it does not works with my fingers. Looking forward to some solution as its pretty annoying experiencing such bugs in such an expensive machine. Thanks

Hi there! Need help. Obviously. Hope people still look at this fourm... I have a Lenovo Yoga 3 1470 Laptop. Its...a few years old AND it is out of warrenty (so please no recommendations for sending it into Lenovo Repair Service). It is running the Windows 10 update, though it initally came with Windows 8.1  A few days ago I factory reset the computer to wipe it of all files and such. When the reset was finished it updated and reloaded itself with Windows 10. Everything seemed fine at first... HOWEVER, the touch screen is not responding to anything. I can fold the laptop into tablet mode, the physical keyboard will shut off but it will not respond to touches by any means. The Pen & Touch information in windows settings says that Pen & Touch are not available for this device. I have checked the drivers and the HID-Compliant Driver is NOT THERE (it was at first but it was greyed out and gave me a code 45).  Tent mode also doesn't work. I can flip the computer over, and Auto -Rotate will appear on the screen but the screen never flips. I have searched high and low on Google and Lenovo but perhaps I am missing something, a driver update or ...anything. Help would be great great greatly appreciated. Just to recap:-Lenovo Yoga 3 1470-Fresh Factory Reset-Windows 10 64-bit-Touch Screen Not responding-Tent Mode Screen Not Rotating-HID Touch Screen Driver Missing *EDIT: Just realized I made a similar post like 2 months ago...wow. Yoga 2-11 Yesterday the CTRL-C, CTRL-X, and ALT-CTRL-DEL functions stopped working; strangely CTRL-V works fine. It's very difficult to get the @  and ? symbols to appear, but capital letters using the same Shift key are fine. Also, when I would type, several of the same letter would appear, and when pressing the space bar several spaces would appear. I fixed this issue by adjusting my keyboard settings by setting the repeat rating to the slowest setting. I've used device manager to uninstall the keyboard, also updated drivers, etc, but nothing seems to fix things. Using Windows Key R and OSK to display the onscreen keyboard, and using my physical keyboard for input confirms that the Shift and CTRL keys work. One thing that I noticed: when I touch the CTRL key a round onscreen circle appears and gets smaller and disappears; this is also true for CTRL-X and CTRL-C, but when using CTRL-V the circle does not appear.
