Dualshock 4 on PC keeps disconnecting

Question: Dualshock 4 on PC keeps disconnecting

Hi,
I'm not great with computers. Please help.
I play a game on my pc, online, and I use a Dualshock 4 control pad to play it as the game is optimised / designed around one. I have tried this wired, bluetooth and wifi (using an official 1st party Dualshock 4 specific adaptor) and no joy. I've tried a different controller also, wired.
What happens is, I'll be playing, moving, running, jumping or performing any other action and all of a sudden my controller will 'lock up' meaning my character will keep running in the direction they were running, or the screen will continue to spin in the direction I was spinning it, if I was holding a trigger down, the game would continue to act as if the trigger were being held down etc.
for just a split second, then it work again. Sometimes this happens twice in quick succession.
It can happen once in a whole night, or not at all, or it can happen multiple times in the space of a few minutes.
I THINK its something to do with my computer restarting my usb connections. You know like how if you unplug something or plug something in to a usb slot your device manager will refresh all the usb connections? Its like that but I've no idea what is causing it. Maybe one of the devices connected via usb is causing them to play up but I'm wondering if there's a simple way for me to diagnose which one it might be?
I think (although it was some time ago and I'm not 100% sure) I've already gone through the process of disconnecting all my usb devices to try and find the culprit, I don't remember it helping.
I've tried checking for driver updates but everything seems up to date. I once did a restore of my system, which didn't help, so I did a complete system wipe, back to installing the OS again and it worked for several months and now is starting again. Which makes me think it can't be hardware related? It was happening constantly, until the complete wipe / reinstall, then worked fine for many many months and recently has started again.
Any advice?

Preferred Solution: Dualshock 4 on PC keeps disconnecting

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer:ps2, dualshock two drivers anyone?

Sure, it will work. It's a hardware thing, not software, so no drivers are needed.

Recently one of the analogue sticks on my Dualshock 3 (PS3) controller developed the commen 'sticky stick' problem. As I am going to be replacing the stick soon I am wondering whether or not I should remove the rumble motors- seeing as I never have the rumble on- thus making the controller much lighter. My concern is that this may cause some damage, as removing the motors would leave some solder with no connection on the main board. I can't see anything wrong with doing this but thought it would be best to check and ask for someone else's opinion. Thank you in advance.

Answer:Dualshock 3 lightweight modification

Shouldn't be an issue that I could see.

Are you planning on leaving the wires on and just taping them off, or are you planning on removing the wires from the board as well?

Hello guys,
I've been playing fifa 17 demo with dualshock 4 on my PC desktop (WIN10). Everything works good, controller works, I am able to remap buttons in game. But when playing I realized that my right stick doesn't control 'skill moves'. Is this because :

it is only fifa 17 demo?, it'll work if I buy full game?
I use PS4 controller and it's functionality is limited? Should I use some software to remap buttons or simulate xbox controller ?

P.S. When going into game settings and customize controls I see list of buttons plus description (left stick is on the list, but right one is missing)
can anyone help please?
Thank you

I recently got an external bluetooth adapter for a custom built PC.
I wanted to connect my wii controllers, but i had already installed dualshock drivers, which don't let you use any other
bluetooth devices. I looked into device manager and couldn't find anything about the drivers.
How do I uninstall them?
Note:
Every tutorial I've seen relies on internal bluetooth, or windows 7/8. If you've found a tutorial that doeosn't, PLEASE TELL ME!

Hi,

I'll try to get everything down so far and feel free to ask questions so I can fill in the blanks. I've got a decent PC, it was custom built by my brother who is a bit more techy than me.

Despite this, I only really play one game. Final Fantasy XIV: Online Heavensward.I've played this with a pad, sometimes connected via usb lead and sometimes connected via a small bluetooth USB adapter.

Recently however the pad has been doing this incredibly frustrating thing whereby I'll be playing normally and it'll just lock up for a few seconds. My guy continues running in the direction he was running, or my action bar remains open as if I was still holding down the R2 / L2 button but none of my other buttons will respond. The rest of the game continues along just fine, not graphical glitches, there's no lag, nothing is slowed or stopped. Just my controller that stops working / responding for just a second or two and then responds again.

Now I've tried what I thought was everything.

1. I changed the pad.
2. I replaced the bluetooth adapter with an official Sony DS4 wireless PC adapter.
3. I tried using it wired.
4. I tried using different USB ports.
5. I attempted to update the drivers. (was told I already have the best one available).
6. I completely removed (I think) all drivers and any software associated with any of the controllers.
7. I deleted and reinstalled the game (an hour or two process for a 3 year old + MMO)

Once in a while it will show "Disconnecting" in Task Manager but still hang. I have checked and updated all of my drivers and have no conflicts. I am running 98SE with explorer 6.0 . I have recently done a clean boot and I only loaded the essential program necessary to dial up from the yahoo DSL install disc. I have a Speed stream 5100. Any help would be appreciated

Question: Lan Disconnecting

Dear Friends

I using DG31PR Motherboard Last few days my network automatically disconnecting 3 or 4 seconds after connected every one hour repeating what is the problem anybody pls help

Answer:Lan Disconnecting

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

Name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
Make and exact model of the broadband modem.
Make and exact model and hardware version of the router (if a separate unit).
Model numbers can usually be obtained from the label on the device.
Connection type, wired or wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2)
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP (Home or Pro), SP1-SP2-SP3, Vista (Home, Business, Ultimate), etc.
The Internet Browser in use, IE, Firefox, Opera, etc.

Please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.

If you're using a wireless connection, have you tried a direct connection with a cable to see if that changes the symptoms?
For wireless issues, have you disabled all encryption on the router to see if you can connect that way?
Have you connected directly to the broadband modem to see if this is a router or modem/ISP issue?
If there are other computers on the same network, are they experiencing the same issue, or do they function normally?

On any affected computer, I'd also like to see this:

I have a 2Wire 2071-A Modem hooked up to an Asus RX3041 which has a Netgear Wireless Access Point WG602 V3 and a mynetfone VoIP modem connected to it. My speed is : 1.5mb/256kb

I went into the 2Wire settings and put the Router (Asus RX3041) in DMZplus mode, my computer to allow specific programs, and the mynetfone VoIP modem to not allow any inbound traffic.

My problem is that I always seem to disconnect from the internet. When I'm playing Call of Duty 4 or Modern Warfare 2 I get these really long lag spikes and just get disconnected from the server/host. I'm in Windows Live Messenger and it disconnects me while in the middle of a conversation.
Is there any way to fix this?
Anything that can be helpfull would be great.

Whenever I use GAIM or regular AIM it keeps disconnecting, it just started happening a few days ago. Since then i've opened ports 4443, 5190 and it still keeps disconnecting. Last night I was on GAIM and it seemed to stay connected well but I checked again this morning and it kept disconnecing every few minutes. Nothing has changed on my computer since it started to disconnect. Also my internet works fine when all this disconnecting goes on.

My computer is a brand new iBUYPOWER 963i,
8 gbs of DDR3 RAM
i5 2500k,
and I suppose the rest is not important to my problem.
The problem is I bought a Rosewill RNX-N180PCe card for it,
and I've been disconnecting like crazy, it's ridiculous, I will disconnect from the internet abour every 30 seconds, and, as you can imagine, its very annoying when gaming. Anyways, I recently moved the desktop to another to see if it would disconnect like this, but it does not. So that brings me down to two things:
1. The router.
2. The placement of the antennas/desktop.
It couldnt be out internet because we have great internet with high-speeds.
Our router is a Cisco WRT120N with firmware version 1.0.07
Any ideas, or am I just going to have to abandon this 800% machine and go back to my ****** laptop?

Answer:Keeps Disconnecting

can we see an xirrus shot from both the desktops - make sure we know which is which
would you post the following tests when its working OK and then repeat ALL the tests when it disconnects and make sure you also tells which tests posted are for what condition

------------------------------------------------------------------------
ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here

We would like to see the results from ipconfig /all post back the results in a reply here

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box (A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt

It will export the results to notepad and then automatically open notepad.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results to a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will be highlighted
Next
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy
Now go back to the forum - reply and then right click in the reply box and paste

Hi,I use AOL 7 [I know, but I like it & it suits me]& have just 'upgraded' to connecting via Broadband - thanks to those who helped me.Over the past few weeks, I keep getting disconnected [even when I am waiting for a page such as PCA to load] & I have to restart. This is not too much of a hassle but can be annoying when you are in the middle of looking for the right page on all those Google responses ;o) I know AOL8 is claimed to have a re-connect type software, but I have been told by others that I should not upgrade yet as there are some major problems with the other files that this will load onto a Win XP PC. Is there a stand alone software available in the market I can use? I have Terminator, but that stopped being of use after AOL 5 [yes it is old - lol]Any guidance gratefully received.Regards,Paul

Answer:AOL keeps disconnecting?

Version 8 has no major problems at all. I use this version with Broadband and it's fine. AS to your disconnections, there should not be any, your connection should be always on! [Broadband]. This may be a problem with the way your broadband is set up more than AOL itself.Do you have any other hardware connected through your USB ports, and which operating system do you use? j.

This is posted to help a friend who suddenly can't stay connected to the Internet for long enough to do something like post here ...Her PC, an elderly Dell running under Windows 98, won't generally stay connected to the Internet for more than a minute or two, although sometimes a connection will last for several minutes.I have checked it for the Blaster worm using the latest FixBlast.exe download from Symantec, and it reported no infection by Blaster. Are there other worms that would have this behaviour? The Symantec notes also mentioned making a temporary change to the settings for RPC to stop disconnection, but this presumably applies only to XP and 2000 since I can't find services.msc on her Windows 98 system.I have checked the relevant DUN, and modem, settings and can't see any obvious cause, and I am assured that no changed had been made to the PC's configuration prior to the problem appearing. Can anyone offer advice, please?

I have DSL. Verizon is the carrier. My ISP is somebody else. Some time ago after I had been using the internet for a while, all of a sudden my computer was no longer connected.

I called my ISP. They told me to "reset the modem". This meant unplug the modem & plug it back in. I did. I was connected again. They told me that every so often I might have to do that.

Since then I have had to "reset the modem" anywhere from 1-3 times per week. Sometimes unplugging the modem & plugging it back in isn't enough. I have to shut down the computer too & then reboot. Then it works.

Today, nothing I did worked. I was using the internet earlier in the day & everything worked fine. A little while later when I again tried to use the internet I found that I was no connected. I tried "resetting the modem" it didn't help. I shut down the computer, rebooted, nothing. I called my ISP. He just had me reset the modem again. This time it worked. In all, I "reset the modem" about 4-5 times before it worked.

My ISP told me the modem might be defective, call Verizon about it. I called them. In the short time (about 5 minutes) it took me to get connected to tech support, my connection was down again.

Verizon pinged my gateway & said everything worked fine. But I couldn't ping the gateway from my computer. I kept timing out. They rebuilt the circuit for me. I still could not connect. They had me disable my firewall & antiv... Read more

Answer:Why Does My DSL Keep Disconnecting?

Update to my last post:

After posting the question "Why Does My DSL Keep Disconnecting?" I was disconnected again. I "reset the modem"
& am currently connected.

Also, when I say I am disconnected, I mean that I cannot access websites nor send or receive emails. I'm told I must first connect or that the page can't be found or that the server where my email account is can't be found. However, at the same time all the lights on my modem are lit & the icon in the lower right hand corner of my screen says that the local area connection is connected at 10 mbps.

Answer:Net disconnecting

Give this a try,
Go to tools on the top of your ie browser, then select internet options tab, setting tab for your isp. In the new window then under dial up setting select advanced. Uncheck disconnect when idle and when no longer needed. See if this will clear up the wanting to disconnect issue. As far as a good isp, dial up is slow and it does get bogged down. I am stuck with it myself because I live out in the country. If you want speed go with some sort of broad band if availavle. If not you might want to try a local or regional isp in your area. You seem to get better service with a smaller company.

IE7 was disconnecting once a day, I had to reboot to get it to work again.

I was advised here to reset IE7. I did, and now I still get a disconnect, but I do not have to reboot. if I click on a short cut a second time it connects.

If I leave a tab open, it will not disconnect when I go from site to site without any problems.

Again, when I try to go from site to site, I have to go back and click on the desktop icon again, then it will reconnect.

Hiya

It sounds as if something is trying to connect without you knowing. Go to Run and type MSINFO32
On the left go to Software Enviroment, then Startup Programs. Copy/paste the list.

Also, go here and download AddAware www.lavasoftusa.com
Install and run, ensuring that Deep Registry Scan is enabled. You can remove all that you find, except any references to Web3000 or new.net. You can post the list here if you're unsure.

Question: SSH Disconnecting

I'm novice to networking still but I turned on the switch, all switchports are in vlan 1. Which has a IP of 192.168.1.50 255.255.255.0. This is a home lab hooked up to my regular 192.168.1.0 network. Anyways I set a password and login through line vty 0 4. Transport input all. Set the default-gateway. All seems to be ok. Up and running. I used Tera Term to telnet to it and it said connection timed out. So I tried SSH and it rompt me for password, typed it in, and pressed enter, and it immiedetly closed.

I thought it was just a program crash. So I reopened the program, SSH again and it said "connection refused". Ok.... so try telnet, and now it's saying connection refused also. If I do it 10 times it might let me in once, but as soon as I press enter it crashes. I can ping it, so I know its up.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

A friend of mine is having a bit of a problem, his WLM keeps disconnecting. This only happens during certain hours though but he said the rest of his internet activity remains the same, pages load normal speed, etc; so it's not his actual connection to the net. What's the possible causes?

He also said he tried this method (seeming a lot of people were having the same problem) Msn Errors: MSN Keeps Signing out.

Answer:WLM keeps disconnecting

Tell him to check and make sure he has the latest version. Advise him to go to

Essentials - Windows Live

To get the latest build and confirm that he has the latest. I know that M$ has been phasing out older builds from connecting and staying connected. This will just confirm that it is for sure the latest build so we can move forward.

Hi,
I live during midweek on a residence of around 30 people.
In my room I have a lan connection to my computer.
For 2 weeks i disconnected from internet in the evening: around 6 it started and it ended around 11.
During that period I disconnected, runned problem solver of Microsoft or i disabled Lan connection and put it back on to solve the disconnection. Problem solver said two things:
1. connection between access point router and internet is broken: problem solver couldn't solve this.
2. standardgateway not available, problem solver solved this.
The time between disconnections varied between 10seconds and 3 minutes.
I conntacted the owner and told him about this problem, but he said the router works fine and has been checke d recently.
Today I still have the issue but sometimes much less frequent as previous.
However sometimes problem solver gives me both 1. and 2.(as previously mentioned) and sometimes only 2.
The problem has nothing to do with my cable, because I already tested 2 where the problem still occured.

One minute it will be working just fine, and then the next my button on my computer that flashes orange saying that the wi fi is connected will stop blinking and the internet connection with disconnect. I can re connect right after, and I've reset the internet many times and that doesnt seem to be the problem. Any suggestions or possible, a way to fix would be great.

Thanks

Answer:Disconnecting from the Wi-fi

I would suggest moving this question to the Networking forum (just click on Report in the bottom right of your post and request to be moved).

There are lots of possible answers:
1. Do you have good signal strength from your wireless access point?
2. Is there a button on your laptop that is easily pushed/activated that connects & disconnects your wifi?

The guys in the Networking forum can probably provide many more possibilities to check out.

Hey I just wanted to know if anyone knew a solution to my problem...
I have windows ultimate 32bit according to my DxDiag...
Ok this is the problem
Everytime i leave my laptop on for a long time the internet keeps disconnecting... I do not know how long i need to be away... but even an hour seems to do the trick sometimes...

Its not the network because my other laptop on XP is working fine with the internet even though this laptop disconnects...
the only way i can get it to work again is by resetting the laptop...
I reset it 3 times today...

Can someone PLEASE help me?

Answer:Keeps Disconnecting

How do you connect? Ethernet or wireless? If Ethernet, try another cable (they are cheap, and not very rugged). Try another port on your router, if you using a router.

In Device Manager > Network adaptors, right click on your adapter, select Properties > Power Management and untick in the top box. If that does not help, tick it back.

If it seems to happen after the same time of idleness, say 15 minutes, this might apply: Network Idle Session Time to Automatically Disconnect - Vista Forums

Ok, i tried setting the DNS server to 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 on the router. It couldn't connect to the internet at all when i did that. I reset it to Automatic and it worked. Then i suddenly lost internet connection but the router was covinced it was still connected. After a quick restart it worked again.
Right now all i've done is set my Ipv4 to that DNS server and disabled my Ipv6 because aparently that wasn't working properly.Click to expand...

I have the N 600 DBl; mine kept disconnecting for the longest time too. Maybe change the channel. I did that, and the DNS, and aloud it though my firewall and I haven't disconnected at all in two weeks.

I don't know if this is a security concern or not, but my laptop yesterday has started disconnecting from my wireless network. All my other (non-Windows) computers on my network are connected fine. Does anyone know what might be causing this? I have checked my internet equipment and everything is connected fine and always ON.

I am using a desktop at work, and I use AOL IM to communicate with my co-workers that are in other buildings.

Unfortunately, AOL usually disconnects every 4 to 20 minutes, continually throughout the day.

I know that it is not my ethernet that is disconnecting, because when I check the status of my LAN connection, the duration will be however long my computer has been on.

I've also had some IT people use a sniffer to check on the actual LAN, but they found no problems.

I'm running Windows XP.

Thanks in advance!

Answer:AOL IM keeps disconnecting

Are you aware that aim comes bundled with uneeded/spyware applications?I reccomend using a program like TrillianIt connects to all chat servers including aim, yahoo, msn, icq, irc, and more. Just enter in your account username and password. Much better than aim, and not bundled with cheap software.Anyway, try reinstalling aim........

Hi. I'm trying to use VPN on Lumia 930 WP10. I had to enter the servers manually (there's no app in store). After it, I select one of them, connect, and it works. Well, it keeps connect only when i'm using it, when i block my screen, the VPN disconnects. So, if i'm on an unsecure or public wifi, i'm only protect when using the phone, as soon as I'm not using, my internet traffic is exposed, and there's no point in having a VPN!
Is it supposed to be like that? Does someone has the same problem? How can i fix it?
Thanks.

Hey,Since recently my MSN keeps disconnecting and reconnecting me. I don't experience this with any other application that requires a constant internet connection such as online games, or when I'm downloading files.I have ran several malware scans, renewed my host file, updated my ethernet controller drivers, restarted my router, forwarded the MSN ports on my router, and I am still getting nowhere with this. It is really frustrating, and I can sign in and maintain connection to web-based MSN services such as eBuddy, so I don't know what the problem is. Here is a Hijackthis Log:EDIT: Please be patient. It is recognized by the computer and everything and sometimes it will work fine for a while but then all of a sudden it will start disconnecting and reconnecting and I have to stop using it for a while. Absolutlely a power problem. USB (5.0 volts) usually can only provide power to 3 or 4 devices add more and the voltage will drop when it does the devices stop working. the cure buy a "Powered" hub that has an AC adapter.

The DSL and internet green light would often blanked out anytime during the day. Almost every time when I wake up.
And when that does happen, I will have to keep unplugging/plugging back the modem and router power plug for the DSL and internet light to come back.

I'm using a DIR-615 and a Motorola modem.
The Motorola modem was provided by a DSL employee when he came to my house in order to fix the internet. My previous modem was malfunctioning.

I've updated my firmware, checked my filters, and cleaned the dust.
So what exactly is going on and is there a solution to this problem?

Thank you.

I would get the ISP to check the line
when the DSL & Internet light go out on the Router - whats the light status on the modem ?

I would connect to the modem and see if that drops the connection

Question: Disconnecting =/

Alright, this is probably the 100th disconnecting thread lol so please bear with me. Basically, in a nice summary, I disconnect from the internet when I go on certain sites on the web and disconnect in some of the games I play when I do "big actions" like changing channels/servers.

I'm not exactly sure of all the info I need to put, but I use a linksys adapter with comcast... if that helps =S I'm not really a computer expert, so someone please who is willing to help, just tell me what I need to do and I shall!!! D=

Answer:Disconnecting =/

I had the exact same problem and so I removed the router from the equation and connected directly using my modem. Try than and see if it works. You will need to run TP straight cable from the modem to the back of the computers RJ-45 Jack, and then you will need to power cycle the modem (Turning off for about thirty seconds and then turning back on). Try that and see if it helps. Are you using DSL or cable, and if you are using DSL, check the filters? One more question, when you are disconnected are you able to ping websites by their ip address and by their host names, if not I would point towards a DNS issue.

Question: Disconnecting

This has been happening for a while now (about a few weeks) and it's been really bugging me. I have no trouble connecting to the internet but experience frequent disconnections that seem to happen at random times (I am unable to find a pattern on when it disconnects). There's one computer connected to the router and another laptop that uses wireless.

The router is a D-Link DIR625. The comp connected to the router uses Windows XP and the other uses Vista.

Answer:Disconnecting

If the router is losing its connection with the modem look for a firmware upgrade and reset it to factory default settings and reconfigure.

If both computers are losing their connection to the router try the above and also look for wireless interference, especially from another wireless network or a 2.4 Ghz cordless phone.

Question: Disconnecting

I have a HP media Center computer, which is running vista. I have 3070 mb of ram. I got my computer in March of this year.

My problem is i keep getting disconnecting from the internet since I got the thing. I have always been on cable. the first connection was a direct line into the router. I would have to reset every few days. my next connection was a wireless connection to a random router. that connection only lasted me a week. I was then able to go back to the first modem wireless (with a booster on it) this time and i had to reset every 3-4 days. I then moved to a different place the route this time was a lynksys and i couldn't keep a connection for more then 5 minutes or so.(I am wireless) So i purchased another wireless router a Belkin and we moved the router closer to to my computer. I now disconnect from the games i play every 5-10 minutes. Some times i get disconnected from the internet and sometimes i don't. if i don't get disconnected from the net i can just restart the game. If i get disconnected from the net i have to completely restart my comp.
I have spoken with tech support at hp several times and they have had me reset my comp to factory settings, then have have me download a bios and then start a new user on my comp and start using that.

there are other items i just can't get to work, my webcam is the latest (i just bought the damn thing). i guess that would be another post......

thank you for your time

OS : W8.1
Product : HDD - Seagate, WD and others
Connection : USB

The recommended method to remove a USB-connected HDD is to "Eject" the drive via the USB Icon. When disconnecting certain USB HDD drives the message is displayed "The device is currently in use..... etc... etc.".

Even if the User is careful to shutdown all programs, including File Explorer, the message will still be displayed. If the User then checks process activity via Task Manager, no process activity is reported.

So the question is - What process is reporting that the USB HDD is still "in use" and therefore activating the message, when not even Task Manager shows any process activity...

I have had a VPN connection to my office for a few months and initially it proved a reliable link. Most frequently I will use it from my laptop connecting via my home Orange Broadband wirelessly. The signal strength is rarely much more than 1 to two bars as, but we are not in a great reception area, however, that does not prevent broadband working or receiving emails to smart phones etc.I am using a HP Pavilion laptop with Windows 7 and it has quite a reasonable amount of disk space, good cpu and 4GB ram. Occasionally I use it in conjunction with an Orange Dongle when working elsewhere, usually because I find Orange coverage better than O2, my main mobile. The office has just changed its ISP provider and reset the router, laptops and mobiles to new settings, but the VPN connection if anything is even worse. Any suggestions?Keith

Answer:Why does my VPN keep disconnecting

if you only have 2 bars on reception at best then you have to expect that it drops even lower, vpn can take quite a lot of bandwidth, also are any other computers using your connection,?have you tried changing the passwords on the router, it maybe that someone is illegally connecting and stealing your bandwidth?does this only happen on your home connection?i hate computers!but cant help myself....

IS it disconnecting when you close IE?

of so then open an IE window and goto Tools > Internet Options > Connection and find your connection and highlight it > click Settings > Advanced > and untick where it says "Disconnect when connection may no longer be needed" > click Ok > Ok > Ok

or if its random check your modem to see if the connection led is flashing at the time as you may have lost the connection and the modem is DSL modem is connecting up again.

I'm having problems with my AIM. It's fine, until I open a box to IM someone. It then freezes for a few seconds and shuts down. I have Windows Vista, so there have been a few issues associated with my computer lately, but this has just recently started.

Answer:AIM keeps disconnecting.

That doesn't sound like a connection problem since you are able to get online on AIM.
Had the same problem once...

The problem might be Mal-Ware on your system.
Try doing a scan on your system for Mal-Ware and Viruses.

Personally, I would recommend 'Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware'.
This program detects all Mal-Ware, Trojans, and even some Viruses.

Good Luck. Hope you get AIM working again.

Sorry if I stuck this in the wrong forum, I saw Networking and thought it was the right place.

My desktop is hooked into DSL service through an Actiontec Gateway 1524 router that is wireless capable with a card. I bought the card and hooked up my wife's laptop through the wireless, and all is good. My desktop's DSL line exits the computer, enters the router, then the other line exits the router and I have it plugged into a female receptacle on a phone line that my father hard wired into the wall jack of my kitchen. Recently, I got DirecTV (which totally rocks) and there is a phone connection necessary to get some of the services. So I ran that phone wire around my room, behind my desk, and got a female 'splitter' that I pulugged into the female receptacle of the aforementioned phone wire.

Since I've done that, the WAN connection has kept dropping and I have to go in and fix it through the browser by manually reconnecting it. I don't know jack (no pun intended) about phone lines and signals....could it be the receptacle is causing all sorts of problems? If so, is there a solution where I can use the same phone line for both DSL and my satellite TV connection?

Answer:WAN keeps disconnecting...what gives?

If I understand this correctly, you have a slipter coming out from the wall one to your dsl modem and the other to the direct tv box.You probably need to place a filter on that line some how or just install another wall jack just for the direct tv that way you can place a filter on it.

however as soon as my brother goes on wireless no matter what hes doing wether it be downloading or normally just msn my internet drops to 2 bars and i get disconnected about ever 2-5 mins from my game its killer

ive tried port forwarding skype and my game no luck ive contacted an admin from the game and even he cant understand why i lag so bad, i did i ping test and the admin says that everything should be fine.

Basically the only way i dont lagg is if my brothers laptop is shut off and i cant stand it

please someone tell me theres some way to fix this because im going crazy

This sounds as though your router is configured to give wireless devices priority in Quality of Service. Have a look in your router's manual (may be a better one on line) and see how you can adjust QoS.

Hi,
I'm working on a computer for someone. It runs ME and has a slow Celeron Processor, only 64 mb ram.
Anywho, I installed the drivers for my DSL so I could download and browse the web ect. It started out o.k. but then it disconnected. And it keeps doing it. Sometimes it even disables the internet connection on my modem.
Is this because 3megs is too much for it to handle? I don't get it. I've never had this happen.
I've checked in System and the USB ports all show a-ok.

Any ideas?

Thanks ahead of time.

Due to a power surge yesterday, my IP/router has messed up.

My router IP and computer IP don't match which makes me disconnect every half hour or so. It's getting really irritating and I've tried everything to match the IP and it's not working. I have a Linksys WRT54G router and XP. Renewing/releasing my IP isn't working and I was wondering if there was a way without having to re-install my router.

Answer:Disconnecting because of IP..

what do you mean they dont match? theyre not really supposed to match. your gateway should be something like 192.168.0.1 and your computer should be something like 192.168.0.2

what addresses are you seeing?

First off, i had a problem before about disconnection issues. In that case my screen would go black, the sound would start skipping, and a hard restart would be needed to allow me to do anything. That issue was resolved but i thought id include it for background on this issue.

My problem now is that i will very often be disconnected from the game and sent back to character load screen. What ive tried allready is a different router/modem combo. Wired or wirelessly it does the same thing. I get disconnected about any time of day and any place in WoW. Though i have noticed i get disconnected fairly often in instances, during flights, and battlegrounds.

I dont know if its an issue but i live in an apartment that i can see about 15-20 wireless connections on airport. So it would seem i have a lot of traffic on my network.

For somereason since I installed my Belkin Wireless G router my aim get disconnected every 5 to 10 minutes? even on the computer that is wired to it. the firmware is up to date and everything is there just something dumb I am missing? never had this problem since I hooked the comp up to a router =( help a newbie out lol

Answer:My aim keeps disconnecting?

Might seem completely irrevelant for me to ask this, but are you using Trillian? Both my work PC and one of my home PCs were having issues with AIM recently (yesterday at home and today at work) and I then upgraded to Trillian 3.1 (I had 3.0) and it installed updated stuff for AIM, now the problem is gone.
So if you did this recently, it may not be your router.

If you don't use trillian, then disregard what I just said.

I have 3 computers (2 vista 1 XP) all connected to the one modem. It has been working fine, untill one day (about a month ago) it all of a sudden started to continuously disconnect and reconnect. Took a while to figure out what it was, but finally found out it was the one XP computer when connected to the modem would make it disconnect and reconnect constantly which effected the other 2 computers.

If I unplug it's ethernet cable, the others work fine. I have no idea what it could be. I've tried looking at the settings and changing them around, and no difference. I also have a wireless internet I use for when I take a laptop outside (it's a different company as well), and if I use that on the XP, it works fine. I've also tried using another ethernet cable, and that doesn't make a difference.

So the only thing I can think of that it could be is the settings of it, but I don't know what.

Does anyone know what could have caused this and if it's fixable?

hello all,

in the last month or so, my AIM disconnects me very frequently. sometimes more than once in an hour. I don't know if it's the new version (I just downloaded the newest version of AIM from the site), AOL itself, some setting of mine, or what. I've been using AIM for years now and this is the first time I've had this kind of problem. does anyone have any ideas on what this might be? I'm using a wireless connection and my cable internet provider is cox.

I downloaded msn 6.0 and and I randomly signs out. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it and that has not helped. I even unistalled and reinstalled 5.0 and the has the same problem now and did not before I downloaded 6.0. I am connected thru a dsl that is allways up so the ISP is not the problem I believe. I have the same problem with another machine on the same network both are running windows xp. The other machine that is win 98 and 5.0 stays connected untill you disconnect. It does not seem to be an idle problem since it will disconnect when I am using MSN.
Any help that you can give me would be greatly appricaited

well ive been putting up with this for the last year or so becasue it hasnt been that bad, or so i thought. Wen i played online games like Rumble Fighter, Counter Strike, or ps2, Wii online ive been told i was lagging, i thought they wer just mad, but turns out its because my DSL constantly keeps discnecting rapidly ovr and ovr, then it will stop for about a minute, then it starts disconnecting again. Ive updated to the lastest firmware and it made the problem worse.

I have a Westell Model 327W, Verizon, Low Speed internet (its actauly pretty decent speed)

and i bought the etherenet card a few years back, so maybe i need a new one? anyway any help would be greatly apreciated because this is seriously anoying me.

and its not only wen i play games, even im just listening to music or surfing the internet i get the message bubble constantly telling me the cable is disconnected

A couple of weeks ago my internet connection began disconnecting and reconnecting several times a day. The disconnects seem to be more frequent when more bandwidth is being used. Every time it disconnects the DSL light on the modem blinks red momentarily, and soon returns to normal. I've tried two different modems and they both do the same thing. I have tried multiple cords with the modem. I contacted AT&T and they said they ran a line test and it looked normal. There are 4 computers sharing this connection and the router is a Linksys WRT54G. This pretty much ruins my online gaming experience and is just a pain when browsing.

Any ideas?

Answer:AT&T DSL Disconnecting

You might try updating the firmware on the Linksys WRT54G, or get another router like D-Link

My internet keeps disconnecting after awhile and will only work after I restart my computer. I have made sure that Windows doesn't shut off the network adapter to save power. I have also updated to the newest driver, which didn't work. Afterwards I uninstalled the driver and installed the original that came with my motherboard, that didn't work either. My modem is working fine. I have an nForce 4 motherboard with onboard ethernet. Any ideas as to how to solve this problem will be greatly appreciated as it has become fairly annoying. Thank you.

Answer:Internet keeps disconnecting

What router did you have? And were you doing any p2p?

I assume you are using 2000/XP. Try the newest, compatible ethernet drivers here:

Hey, thanks for checking out this post.

So for a couple months now, my headset has been disconnecting randomly from my computer. And by disconnecting, I mean it stops playing whatever sound it's receiving and the mic stops working. I'm fairly certain this is a problem with the headset itself, as other USB devices don't get randomly disconnected from my computer.

To explain the common scenario, I will be doing something on my computer, like listening to music, or talking in a Skype call, and then my headset will suddenly give a fairly loud click, and all sound will cease, with my mic disabling as well. Usually I just need to unplug my headset from the port and then plug it back in for the headset to start working again, however sometimes that doesn't work, and sometimes when it does, the sound resets to a much higher volume then it was at. I've recently discovered that two of my front USB ports won't work for that problem, and only my USB 3.0 port will work for the reset. I know that the two other USB ports work fine as other devices can connect. The problem of the headset shutting off randomly appears frequently once it starts, and makes Skype calls and other things nearly impossible.

Also, I sometimes receive a message after the headset is disconnected saying that the USB hub has exceeded the power limit or something of the sort. I can't remember the exact statement, however it's something along those lines. It then gives me a menu ... Read more
