Preferred Solution: Recover deleted recovery word file

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Plz Help!!

I deleted a few files like a year ago.. i placed them in the program files of other software in C: . Eventually when i uninstalled that software the folder was gone. Is it possible to recover it in anyway??

Answer:Recover deleted file without recovery softwares in windows7

A year ago is a very long time. Most likely Windows has long since over written that area of the disk to a point that anything that you would get would be very incomplete and unuseable.

Pls help !!! I have HP's dv5 laptop (Windows Vista 64 bit) and I accidently deleted the "Recovery Folder/File" from D and also from the Recycle bin to gain more storage space.
The disk space still shows high, even after deletion. I had made recovery disks when I first started using this new laptop.
I learnt lately (after deletion) that the ‘Recovery File/Folder’ should not be deleted from D drive. As such my machine is perfectly all right.
My concern is now that should I use the Recovery Discs to restore the system? If I do that, will it take the system to Factory settings? What if I don’t restore the deleted file? The Drive D is visible when I open the drives from “Computer” but I don’t see the D Drive from “HP Care”. I have few other files stored in D Drive but the disk free space is still very low. I could see once more file Program (x86) in Drive D. Also when I tried to perform Disk Clean-up for the D Drive, it was unsuccessful, notifying that the drive is in operation. After deletion of the "Recovery Folder/File", I have made several updates from Windows & HP updates.
What shall I do now – Pls advise. Many Thanks !!!

You might be able to use a free recovery tool like Recuva or MiniTool Partition Wizard. But there are no guarantees that all deleted files will be recovered or that they will be in a usable condition.

Ok so I apologize in advance if this story is a bit long, and horrifying (actually it's probably entertaining xD). I purchased the Lenovo y510p gaming laptop on back on July 14th 2014. I got the laptop, and it just didn't work for me. It didn't play the games I wanted it to, it had overheating issues, the keyboard had a really sharp edge making typing uncomfortable as well. After installing Sony Vegas and Avast, and just shifting some of my personal photos/music over, I made a backup of the laptop using the OneKey Recovery software. This backup was made to one of my 500GB external hard drives. So I then decided that I just didn't like the laptop, and it was time to return it. I called Newegg, and got my RMA all ready to go. Because I had lot of my personal files and programs, I decided the fastest way to delete everything would be to use the OneKey Recovery by Lenovo, and do a factory reset. At the time, I didn't think anything of this then simply putting the laptop back to exactly how I got it. I even booted it up after the factory reset, and it looked just like the first day I got it. Fast forward 2 weeks, and my RMA is denied from Newegg:   Your RMA (RMA Number: 60470880) return was received and sent to our Inspections Department for closer examination. 34-313-740 NB LENOVO IDEAPAD Y510P 59406636 RTSystem has been modified/altered original manufacturers operating system has been removed cannot access restore partition, this voids Newegg w... Answer:How to recover deleted "Recovery Partition"

If you only used One Key Recovery by Lenovo, it should not delete the partition. (I hope you did not format the whole system) Once you receive the laptop, you can check if this partition still exists in Control Panel >> Administrative Tools >> Disk Management. It should show some drives, other than the C: , D: and the SSD (if you have). Those drives are the recovery partitions. I can post a sample screenshot in the evening. Sadly, I do not know any way to recover that partition. As I have seen on this forum several people who lost that partition could not roll back their laptop to original settings without a recovery drive (which is different from a recovery backup).

This is a question about Word 2010. I have created a problem for myself by accidentally DELETING the Word Shortcut from my desktop and from Start / All Programs / Microsoft Office. I had also created a desktop shortcut from these entries under Start. I did this before inadvertently deleting the Work icon from the "folder" under "Start" AND from the mirrored Folder on the desktop which contains an icon for EVERY OTHER Office application except Word.

Where can I go on my system, or elsewhere to find and "object" upon which I can "right-click" to create a Word icon that I can hopefully restore to the above 2 folders and at least one other location?

Thank you,

Answer:M/S Office: Recover deleted icon for Word 2010 - running Win 7, 64-bit

The executable file for Word is located at the following location:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14

Once under this you can find the executable file named "WINWORD" and this will launch Microsoft Word. To have this as a desktop link you can simply right click it > send to > desktop and then rename the shortcut when it is on your desktop.

Hopefully this is what you were asking for.

Important note: The path is dependent on if you have multiple hard drives and this file will, of course, be under the hard drive you have office 2010 installed on.

After experiencing an error with windows, it wouldn't start up and said I was missing the hal.dll files, I fired up the windows recovery program. It worked like a charm, replaced windows and the hal.dll file, however all my folders with docs and pictures on the desktop that were there previously (which accumulated over years) were not there anymore. Is there any way to recover these missing folder and files? They weren't saved on the c: directly but only on the desktop. I tried system restore but it said there were no system recovery points I could recover from.
Does windows make a backup of these desktop files before it deletes them?
Please help anyone, thanks!

Answer:System recovery for xp deleted my personal files on desktop, can I recover them?

If the computer hasn't been used much since the recovery most of your files will be intact.

The tricky bit is getting them back. The only real way to retrieve your data is to remove the hard drive, plug it into another computer as a second drive and run a piece if recovery software over it.

The first two links are to free recovery software, the third is paid for - this one does work very well.

I have a user that accidentally deleted a shared file from her local machine and she wants to recover it. The file is stored in a shared directory on a server 2003 machine. The file does not show up in her recycle bin (which I assumed it would). And I can't find a 'recycled' folder on the server or anything either. For good measure I ran a small recoveyr program on the server but didn't find it still. Any idea where it could have gone?

Also, in case anyone asks we do have a backup of it, but it won't do any good because it won't have any of the updated information she needs.

Answer:Recover deleted file

if you have the file shared out it should still be on the server. she could just go back to the server and copy the file over again. if its not on the server and she deleted the only other copy of the file, you might be SOL unless you want to take the time to bring the hard drive to a third party recovery place...

I've done a stupid stupid stupid thing and lost an important excel spreadsheet that I last used about two weeks ago. I've been having various performance problems (freezes/crashes) and was advised to run "Malwarebytes' anti-malware".

Before I did this, I backed up all my data to a CD-ROM and then deleted the files from my laptop. Then I went ahead and ran the software. The good news: my laptop seems to be behaving itself far better now. The bad news: somehow I seem to have missed this one file when backing up. I've got all my family photos, lots of stuff from work, even old stuff that I'll probably never need again but I thought "What the heck". Yet somehow, I've missed this one spreadsheet. I could kick myself!!

To make matters (probably) worse, I've run CCleaner a couple of times since then, as I was advised that it keeps the laptop clean. I've just looked at some settings there now and it's using "Normal" file deletion as opposed to "Secure", but "Wipe Free Space" is selected. Damn!

I only realised I'd lost the file last night and I have already downloaded some freeware utilities such as "Restoration" and "Undelete Plus", but none of these found the file.

Should I just give up now? Or is there some software that may find a file even after CCleaner has been run.

Grateful for any help.

I have inadvertantly deleted a personal file (containing data and pictures files) from my laptop.I tried to use recovery programs to recover at least the pictures. I have recovered some of the files containing the pictures, but cannot open these pictures . When trying to open each picture (of the recovered ones) I've got the following note:"Paint cannot read this file. This is not a valid bitmap file, ot its format is not currently supported"I checked the System Restore and found that a restore point is available to the date prior the delete. Can System Restore recover the deleted file?Note: The file was installed on the Desktop (before being deleted).I am using Windows XP ProThanks for your assitance.

Answer:Recover A Deleted File

The restore point may work for you, or it may not. Persoanlly, that's a tough call, because you risk erasing the deleted version where you can't retrieve it, and you risk the possibility that the restore point won't work, and at the same time, erased any possible chance of you recovering what was accidentally deleted. If possible, the best way you is to hook the hard drive in question to another computer as the slave. And then use the other computer to get the data off, because you stand the risk of that sector of the hard drive to be over-written with data if you add/install a program to the computer. It's not always true.. but that risk still exists. If you don't have access to another computer then you'll want to use a few FREE ones that are out there. Look in the Commercial FREEWare forum here on this site. Sorry, I forget the link right off hand. But whatever you do, don't keep deleting and (or) modifying the hard drive if you want your data back. By all means, just download what you need, and do as less installing/deleting on that computer as possible. And then again, if you feel that the Restore Point will bring back the data, then all I can say is go for it. But remember to weigh out your odds, no matter which route you take.a. connect the hard drive to another computer, and do it that way (safest known method)b. install a program(s) on the computer in question, and run it from there (risk/a workable method)c. Use the Windows Restore Point (ris... Read more

Answer:Cannot recover deleted pst file

Johnw its a local copy of .pst or there would be no need for recovery software.Flox15 you should never install software when trying to recover a file. You run the recovery software from a usb or cd boot disk. This prevents the file from being partially or fully overwritten.Another aspect is how much free space do you have? If not much then a deleted file can be overwritten immediately. There is also the issue of a corrupt file table. You run chkdsk /f to correct this. But all of this sounds too late in your situation.Answers are only as good as the information you provide. How to properly post a question: Sorry no tech support via PM's

I am using Windows 8.1 and wanting to get advice on a utility (either freeware or paid-for version-or even if one exists at all) which has the ability to restore files/folders once they have been deleted from the recycle bin.
I realise that there are oodles of utilities on the web which claim they can restore deleted files, and I have tested a few out; I now am having serious doubts that a restoration tool exists at all.
With every tool I tried out, it asks where the file?s original location was, then after initiating a search some files are found; here?s where things get interesting ? every file which is found already exists on the H/D and hasn?t even been deleted at all.
Is a undeleting tool simply media hype?
Has anyone used a ?undelete? utility which successfully does what it?s meant to?

When files come up in the search, they are listed in numbers, like, 1a55t2r277z12, etc. rather than a name, like "Scans," the one I am looking for. Hi again, I am trying to recover a Word doc that was accidentally deleted from a folder on my desktop a few minutes ago.

It did not go to the recycling bin and is not in my recent file list in Word.
It also did not come up in any searches I ran anywhere.

Anyone know of any sly ways to try to recover this?

Thanks alot!

Answer:Solved: Recover Deleted File

Firstly do NOT use the PC for anything. Every operation will overwrite the HDD locations of deleted files.

If it did not go into the recycle bin, then a deliberate effort was made to delete it in a manner to make it difficult to recover. Using the PC makes that even more difficult.

Ideally slave the hard drive in another PC, you should never attempt to recover a file on the same drive as it was deleted on (as the recovery software and file extraction will possibly overwrite the deleted file)

Then try PC Inspector from here:,fid,23069,00.asp

Is there any way to undo this or restore it. I didn't have system restore on or a registry back up.

Answer:Deleted registry file, anyway to recover?

I can offer you this: I found the key in my registry. What you do is copy the text below, and paste it into Notepad. Save the file as a text file (.txt). The file name is not important, just call it what you want (i.e. document.txt). Probably save to the desktop for easy access. After it is saved, rename the .txt extention to .reg . Double click on it and it will enter the info into your registry. Reboot.

Copy all the text between, but not including, <start> and <end>

Answer:Recover File Deleted With Shift+delete

Check your recycle bin first to see if it is there.Usually that command deletes the file/data from the disk. You will have to purchase a recovery program. And it may not work as the drive area might have been overwritten already.Links for more information: a paid for recover link://'ve used the above. It works about 60% of the time. It's not a live link as I won't flog the product.

Answer:URGENT HELP - Need to recover a file deleted from the recycle bin!!!

Hi Luke!

There are tools you can use to restore deleted files, but there's no guaranty that you'll be successful. To maximize your chances, stop using the computer. While you're using it, things are being written to the disk all the time and so a deleted piece of data can be overwritten.

Your best bet is to go to another computer, download one of the "recovery" tools and put it on a memory stick or a cd. Then run it on the PC with the deleted file from the cd.

An example of a freeware recovery program is "restoration".

I am not sure what programs he purchased, but he really needs the file.

Any ideas?

Answer:Recover deleted file from memory stick

If you have already recovered it, meaning that a file name now shows if you view the contents of the stick, you may be out of luck.

Any recovery programs are attempting to recover files that are still deleted. (and re-deleting the recovered one is not going to work either).

I was wondering if it is possible to recover a file that was deleted from a USB flash drive. A few days ago, I carelessly deleted a microsoft word document from my Sandisk flash drive because I thought I didn't need it anymore. However, I realized I still needed the document but it was too late.  I searched the web for undelete programs to recover my deleted document, but all the programs I used failed to recover the file.  Interestingly, the programs recovered files that I deleted months ago, yet it did not find my document that I deleted just days ago. So now I am out of ideas and really desperate right now. Is there any way I can recover my file, or is it just impossible?

Answer:How can I recover a file deleted from a USB flash drive?

Don't write to the USB disk anymore and google, download and install "PC Inspector".

Hope someone can assist me.

My wife was transfering filed from her desktop to her laptop via network connection and shared "My Computer" folders. She was working on her latop and thought she was viewing already transferred files on her laptop, when in realty she was still viewing her shared connection to her desktop. She began to delete some folders and files all word documents.

If we can, how do we recover these deleted files. I have checked with trash can on both systems and deleted files and folders are not there.

I looked up in the Microsoft file recovery tutorial and it specifically says that files deleted through a network connection are not recoverable. These files and folders must be sitting in some cache. Where are they and how can I get to them.

Your help is welcomed, apprecaited and needed.

Can a deleted file be recovered from an image/clone hard disk?

Answer:recover deleted file from image disk?

Welcome to the Board see7102!

Not sure I quite follow your question. You deleted a file from your hard drive, but had previously cloned the drive to another drive? If so, and the file existed when the clone was done then the file is still on the other drive (unless it was deleted there as well).

Or, did you make an image of the drive and saved the image file someplace? If you made an image, then you may be able to access the file from the image with out having to restore the image. For example Norton Ghost has Ghost Explorer, which will let you pull one file out of an image file. Other imaging programs likely have something similar, but I'm only familiar with Ghost 2003

What software was used to make the image?

I don't know if this is the right section, but here goes:
1) plug your flash drive into your computer
2) 'Open' your Recycle bin by right-clicking on it, and selecting 'Open'
3) click on the file you want to recover (to select it), then right-click on the file, and select 'Restore'

This should restore the file that you want.

Hello, I need help with recovering a file. When I signed into my Onedrive account, Windows Defender caught a virus. Therefore I quarantined it and deleted it. As I have a current investigation going about a few of my accounts (including Onedrive) being hacked, and being close to being able to prove who did this, I now realize that I should not have deleted the virus, as this is evidence that this hacker is also trying to access my other devices through a virus placed in my Onedrive account. Is there a way that I can determine what the name of this virus was, or to be able to find it again? AVG detected it instantly as well, but I ignored it in AVG and deleted it from Windows Defender. I do not see it anywhere in AVG or in Windows Defender anymore, and it is also not present in the event viewer under Windows Defender. Any help on this topic is appreciated. Thank you.

Answer:Please help! Recover deleted file from Windows Defender possible?

Comment from the Web 4 years ago.
Windows Defender — where are the Scan Results?
Obviously, you are able to see when it last ran by opening Windows Defender and looking at the last scan details on the bottom left. If it detected something, it would alert you and also log it in the 'History' section.
If you want to see more detailed logs, you can view them in Event Viewer > Applications and Services Logs > Microsoft > Windows > Windows Defender > Operational
It will show as 'information' for when it has ran, etc. If it has detected malware, etc. it will show as 'Warning' with a yellow warning sign and details of process, severity, etc. If it's stopped before completion it will also show under a yellow warning sign.

Answer:recover pst file if deleted from c:-user-local settings

Hi Leema. It's always a good idea to keep a backup copy of any current PST file as well as any other important user files & documents etc.You might be able to retrieve it with recovery software, but even then there's a possibility that it may be incomplete or damaged by overwriting if you carried on using the PC after the file was deleted. Having done so and checked that it was functional, I deleted the old account. However, at least one of my old pst files didn't make the trip. (So much for the idea that ALL files came over!) Is there any way a recovering the old pst file, i.e., is it still out there with the pointers erased, or has it been forever wiped out and I'm left to live without the old emails, etc.?

Have you tried Recuva? They are many programs of this type but I trust Piriform (makers of Ccleaner). Whatever program you choose, do it fast! The longer you wait the more chance you have of overwriting the lost data so time is of the essence here. Use your machine as sparingly as possible until you try any recovery software. Of course, the simple fact of downloading any of the programs has the risk of overwriting your lost data.

Hello there. I really need your help. I have accidentally deleted a very important .txt file that was really small, only around 10 bytes and contained only a randomly generated password of around 10 characters. It was on my desktop and was named New Text Document.txt by default. I have deleted it with two other files I did not need, and I did not see that this was also marked before deleting. I have tried multiple recovery programs (recuva included) and used deep scan but had no luck and these programs did not even show anything close to the file I needed (no such name, no such size or date). So is it possible that the file has changed its name after deleting or something? Is there any other way to try to recover the file? It is really important to me and I desperately need to get it back. I have also entered it to my browser multiple times, just did not save it, maybe there is some way of retrieving it from there? Thanks a ton!!

I want to recover the data file or folder in windows 7.I have used the Restore Previous version but I couldn't get my files againplease give some idea to recover my files without using softwares

Answer:Recover file or folder permanently deleted from work server

Since they were on the server, especially if they were on the server overnight, there has to be a back up of the drive/folder. As mentioned, see your system administrator and have them access the last back up before you or someone deleted the file or folder in order to identify it so they can restore it for you. This does not need any software that is not already part of their back up solution. It might embarrass you to admit that you deleted an important document but that is better than not having the important document(s) or having to do extensive work over again (if possible). You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Hi, my brother's computer stopped saving yesterday. Everywhere he tried to save wouldn't let him, just said the location was full when it wasn't. Anyway he had written a long essay and hadn't saved before this. After trying loads of things, I decided to shut off the computer manually and hope that Word would use its recover feature. Well it didn't, but I looked in the system Temp folder and there is a file called ~WRF0005.tmp. Looking on Google I'm pretty sure this is the file, its 98MB and was created yesterday at the about the time the computer crashed. I tried to open it in notepad but it just gave a load of code. I tried to rename it .doc, still a load of code. I tried the recover text from any file *.* from the open menu in word, STILL JUST CODE!!! This file must be the one, it contained images and if the .tmp is 98MB it surely must have some more information in other than just page after page of code (there are so many pages word has givern up counting! it just says ****/**** where it normally shows the page numbers!). What does this code mean? Word, what does it all mean?!?
Is there anyway to make Word open this file? I have the latest version of Office 2003, the file was written on Office 2000.

An example of the jibberish Word is spurting at me:

second: this probably won't help you much, but might get you started. if your computer locks up while you have word xp running and you restart the comp then start word up it asks you if you want to recover the document from one of its "save checkpoints" or something like that. it might not have every word that you typed, but it is usually pretty close.

I've been working away from home on a large Word document on my wife's Vista Home Premium laptop, using Word 2000.The file was opened from a USB stick drive, and when I tried to save the modified file back to the stick, I received a report that the drive was in use (it wasn't), then the file corrupted. I was working on a file in Word 2007 (XP) and must have lost track of what I was doing and started to work on a similar project that involved some of the same info. Long story short, I saved over the original info and need it back. It wasn't that long ago, probably a week or two. I do not save my documents on a network so that option is trashed.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Answer:Word 2007 - Recover Saved Over File

hi uncbba06,

Long story short - you're stuffed!

Someone else in TSG has said (or words to the affect of) "any file that you don't backup is a file you don't want".

If you don't save anywhere then you have nothing to fall back on.
Even if you have auto-backup switched on in Word, it only keeps the immediately preceding version.

Sorry, but gain something from this loss: adopt a backup strategy and use it; as a recommendation try 'Version Backup', look it up and use it for free, preferably backing up to a secondary hd.

Answer:Recover lost (overwritten) MS Word file

If you overwrote the original file with one of the same name containing less information you can not recover the file. There is nothing to recover. You can see if the temp file [which is deleted by MS automatically upon close] of the full doc can be recovered. The deleted temp file would be in the same folder as the original.

Is there any way of retrieving this file now (any hidden folders that might have it!!)..

Answer:Word file deleted from Recycle Bin

Depending on how much you've saved to your HD since you deleted it, and how much you're willing to spend, you could bring it into your local computer shop and have them try and recover the information.

If you haven't saved over the sectors that the word document was saved on, the information is still there, the reference to the file is the only real thing you deleted.

These are 5 discs which were made when the laptop was new; They have never been used - until now. The process stopped during recovery disc 2, with the message unable to recover c/136/s3sav3d.in_

since then I can go no further; each time I start the comp it is at the same recovery point at which it stopped.
Is there any hope of being able to fix this? And, in case you're wondering why I'm still using XP. It's an old back up that I use for documents etc

The only thing you can do, as far as I can see, is start the recovery again with Disk 1 and hope it can read all of Disk 2 this time.

Hi everybody,
(Am a new member in Tech Support Guy)
I have scant knowledge of how .tmp, .asd and temporary .doc files are created when word is opened.
I HAVE LOST THE USB DRIVE THE ONLY PLACE WHERE I STORED THE WORD 2007 FILE, I want to know if there is a way the Unsaved word file (unsaved on my PC and saved and opened only from jump drive) can be recovered

Important facts I want to know
1) Are .tmp, .asd and temporary .doc files stored in RAM and in what cases (or always)?
a) If they are, are they lost forever beyond recovery when word is closed normally or they can be recovered with a data recover software. (I ask this because I have an idea that RAM is volatile memory)
b) If they are not, where else they are stored and can they be still recovered from those places keeping in mind that my word document was closed normally and was unsaved on the pc anytime?
2) If the .tmp, .asd or temporary .doc files are indeed capable of being recovered as in my situation with most probably a data recovery tool, can they be opened in Word 2007 or they will be junk files by then and of no use?

Please help guys. Even if I am not able to recover my file by any means and the related files are lost, I would still liketo know this info above as it might be of some help to me in future.
