Preferred Solution: Scanning a document

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Question: Scanning document

I don't' know if this is the right place for this or not, but here goes.

A friend asked me how to copy his "Bowling List of Statistics" off of his scanner.
He was wanting to copy it and use the form on a weekly basis and update it accordingly.
I told him that I didn't know how, but I would find out.

Please feel free to move this post if need be.

Answer:Scanning document

Most scanner software will allow you to scan a document to a file, and "OCR" software will extrapolate the image to the closest thing to words.

I use Scanwise 1.0.0.8 which came with my Agfa scanner, and I can scan something in and send it to Print House, Word, Excel, Clipboard, Mail recipient, as a web image, to the printer, or save it as a file.

If I send it to Word or Excel, then the OCR software kicks in, and allows me to edit words, and manipulate the entire scan.
I think I have demonstarted that it can be done, but the question is more like:

What Scanner does your friend have, and what is the Scanner software and version he is using?

Hello,

I am trying to scan a document on to my pc, then I would like to copy & paste it on to Microsoft Works. Then i need to continue adding on more information onto that scanned/copy & pasted document. It will not let me do so. I've tried to scan it in all of the formats offered. Still I am not able to type onto the document. I do remember a while back that I was able to do so when I scanned my resume, saved it in Works and was able to update it, but of course, I cannot remember the steps I took. I believe it was relativily easy or I would not have been able to do it.

Thank you soooooo much in advanced,
Krisztina

Answer:Need help scanning document

Hi, you will need to use ocr software to do this. You scanner probably had a disk with such software the software. Depending on what you have, you normally open up the ocr programme, scan the document, let the software change it to text, copy the text into works and carry on from there.

Question: Document scanning

I am looking at purchasing a scanner with a document feeder so that I can digitise some documents and store them as PDFs.The scanner software provides the ability to scan multipage documents to PDF. However, some of the documents I need to scan are double sided and the scanner can't do these automatically. This means that I'm going to end up with 2 PDFs for each document - one containing the front side of each page and one containing the back.Does anyone know of a way I can automatically combine these into one file so that the pages are in the right order? Thanks,Gary

Answer:Document scanning

If you use Adobe Acrobat it should be no problem. Is there not an option on the scanner software to select "2 sided"?

Question: document scanning

My bookeeper who has been with me for 25 years, is moving to Spain for a large part of the year. Consequently I am looking for a simple way to email purchase invoices to her as they come in. What I am looking for is some sort of software whereby I could put the document in the scanner and with one click email it to her.Ideally it should be like a fax machine whereby it it is scanned and faxed [or in this case emailed] in one go.I do not want to have to go through the laborious procedure of waiting for the scanner to warm up, scanning, saving to hard disc and then emailing as an attachment.Does anyone have any suggestions of what kind of software I should purchase?

Answer:document scanning

If you have a scanner or an all-in-one, it shoudl come with software to allow you to scan documents as pdf's and email it.Paperport click here is also something you can look intoAlso VueScan click here may do the job

I have been trying unsuccessfully to scan a document so that I can email it. Unfortunately the OCR doesn't recognize some characters (hand written) and it replaces it with jibberish. Is there any way to turn off ocr. Also my MS outlook doesn't want to email my messages and I can't figure out why. Do you have any ideas to fix this prob? Thanks

Answer:Scanning a document

OCR programs can be a bit hit and miss.

Can you not just scan the document in as a picture file, .jpg or .bmp etc and send that.

You should have a software control panel for your scanner, to switch between OCR and
other means of 'capture'.

It's not helpful if you want the recipient to 'amend' your document, but is a method to get
the information across, if that's all you want to do.

My Outlook, (which is 2003), has a 'Detect and Repair' option in the Help menu.

What is your version and what error messages do you get (if any), when you
try to send.

btw, When did you last run scans for malware and spyware?

Hello,

A general query but one that I'm hoping you might be able to help with.

I have a HP Laserject M4345.

I want to be able to scan to file or find a cheap piece of hardware that will facilitate my aim.

I want to be able to scan a file to a folder and name it as something I define or scan it as the day's date. If there is already a file with the day's date, I don't want it to be replaced.
1-button scanning is the ultimate aim.

Does anyone have any ideas or know of any portable/low cost scanners that will acheive this for me. Or know of a method that the M4345 can acheive this?

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Document Organising and Scanning.

I run my HP scanner from Irfanview ..
The scan is opened in Irfanview before saving it anywhere .....
Where I can edit it as might be needed and save it where I want and with any name I want.

I can make a Desktop Shortcut that will open Irfanvew .... And run the scanner with one click.
I like this much better than using HP's software ... I use this method in XP and W7

I haven't scanned anything in a while so when I got to your site I'm not sure on which forum to ask my question. I was scanning a test in using an older HP scanner. When I scanned the test into word, it first asked me if I was done or were there other pages (handy I thought); Well, the first test that I scanned had four pages. The problem was that when I scanned it in, some of my A,B,C, and D answers were not like I had them spaced on my hard copy of the test. Instead, answer B and C were together on the same line. As a matter of fact, all of the 50 questions had some kind of spacing problem. Could you give me and idea of what to do or at least tell me which forum to try so that someone can help me. The program I was using was paperport and the Windows OS was 98 S.E.

Hey everyone. I have a question for all you fine software people out there. I am trying to find out if there is software that can take a document, scan it in to an application that will allow me to find different point on the document (X, Y).

Here is why. We are creating forms for insurance policies that require the forms to be created using software we purchased (DocuCorp) software. However, when creating one of these forms from scratch, we must precisely measure where each paragraph starts, where tables are created, boxes, etc.

Right now, we are having to measure using a ruler (very strange I know). This is ridiculous when creating an 18 page form.

Is there software that will pull a document into it, whether its a PDF, word, rtf, or even just a printed document that gets scanned in as a picture and will allow measurements of where things are on that document? I am talking like a document measuring tool, where I can move my mouse to a point on the document and it tells me precisely where that point is?

Please let me know what you guys can do for me. Any links would help. Free would be best, but I work in a corporate environment so price is also no big deal.

I have been using Nuance's Paperport 14 to scan all kinds of documents using WindowsXP and Vista.

I just got a new Win10 desktop (ASUS Motherboard) and have seen many warnings not to install Paperport on Windows 7 and 10. I would prefer to continue using Paperport because I have hundreds of documents saved in the Paperport file format (.max)

Can anyone shed light on using Paperport on Win10 or suggest a good Scanning program. Free is what I had in mind but if I am willing to pay for a good program.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi can anyone help need to get a good document management software for a small office just started up but cant afford £00000s xerox etc.Just need to scan and save documents have tried Omnipage but it is useles not accurate at all.Did have a demo of a good system for £300( inc scanner) but cant remember the name or contact number cos was talking to so many people.I simply want to scan bills invoices letters manage them and retrieve them.Tried scanning and saving as J pegs but file size too large background not scanned as white but has a coloured hue can any one help. A simple system for home and officeMany thanks

Answer:Help Document management/scanning

Which version of Omnipage did you try. No OCR is 100% accurate. Are you actually looking for a Scanner that is quick and cheap? Why do you need to turn those Scanned Documents into "Editable Documents"? Can you not just leave them as the Scanner produces them. If the files take up too much space ~ Scan at a lower resolution. Are you looking for a, space saving, way to Archive your Invoices? HM Customs & Revenue may not be happy with a system which is not based on Hard Copy. In other words ~ you are advised to keep the evidence.

I want to scan a page and save it as a word document. I have used a couple a scanners in my working experience, but everytime i try to save it as a word document, the page content doesnt come as it is, but comes as a junk of mixed characters, numbers. (I remember in 1999 i used a scanner in which was very easy to scan and save as a word document)

I am using hp 1350 all in one, is there any way to do some adjustment in the software to get my work done. pls help

Answer:Scanning a page for word document

Iíve been generally pleased with the progress of OCR as far as accuracy. The versions that come with scanners arenít able to handle odd formatting like forms. But my experience has been pretty good with accuracy in plain text. You need forms capable OCR software if the formatting isnít pretty straightforward.

Most OCR works best with black and white rather than grayscale, but whatever you are using try the other. Some integrate and donít even give you a choice. You can also increase the resolution if you have the choice. A few years back my OmniPage OCR liked 300 PPI, but my latest Abbyy seems to accept higher.

Other than that I donít know much you can do.

I'm looking for a document scanning software (of course FREE (if available)) to scan in my monthly bills using the automatic document feeder. Once they are all scan in to be able to place them in order. For example my elect bill is 3 pages. Therefore, if I scan it in with all the other bills, and then review it, I would like to put page 3 with the elect bill and not at the bottom of the pile. Any suggestions?

Answer:Document Scanning and Imaging Software

Most scanners have utilities available so you could check your manufacturers website to see what is available.

If you have MS Word you should be able to scan into a Word doc.

I've read a lot of people like IrfanView (free), but i've never used it.

I have a lot of typed documents that I would like to scan and then be able to search the results when researching material that may be in them. I know that I could build a set of folders, name them and then name documents that I save to them but I suspect that may be more cumbersome than is necesary, so: Does anyone know of an efficent package that will do the above for me?

Answer:Scanning and document management systems.

Scanning will only produce an image or picture of each document. The first critical point is the optical character recognition program which miraculously converts the picture into editable text. The final point is to use a word processor (Word) which is more than adequate to carry out Finds and Searches for whatever you are seeking.By no means cheapest but the way my computer resolves this for me is Scansoft's Omnipage v.12 and Word. There are cheaper (and good) OCR packages just as Word is not the only word processor.

I am not sure if this is a Windows 7 64 bit issue or a PaperPort 14 issue.

When I scan a document (I use PaperPort 14, if it makes a difference) the security properties of any new scanned document do not include "everyone" or "HomeUsers" (the PC is a WIN 7 64 bit machine on a home network and I have a second PC with the same OS). I have gone into the advanced security tab and the permission for HomeUsers" is shown as "Full Control" and I can get it from my laptop). If instead of a scanned document I create a new Word document and save it to that same folder the security details of the document show up as full control and I can do anything I want to from the other PC.
From an overview I am trying to scan a document from a all-in-one printer (Canon MP530) connected to a desktop PC running Win 7 64 bit and then thru the network I want to be able to copy\move\delete the scanned document on my laptop PC which is also running Win 7 64 bit and setup on the HomeUser network.

I would apprecitate your suggestion on how to fix the issue

Our office generates lots of documents. Purchase orders, receipts, repair orders, etc.

We are starting to look at needing a scanning solution to manage it all. Too much time is wasted retrieving old documents from storage etc.

What would you guys recommend for this? We would probably have an employee or two who as part of their job would scan these files in as they are generated. Then, we would like to be able to have them accessible to the different departments as needed.

What would you recommend for something like this?

When we looked at this a couple years ago, one of our vendors said they could do this and their solution included the scanning program doing some OCR which resulted in populating data automatically that you could search by: customer name, customer number, invoice number, etc. That vendor is not one we want to use though as they have fallen out of favor. That is the kind of functionality we are looking at having though.

Answer:Document Scanning Solution Ideas

I looked into this for my company and honestly it is going to be expensive, way more expensive than you even realize if you want OCR and such and don't forget this is going to require a ton of HD space on the server, we were quoted at around 8tb for the 30 something filing cabinets we have of old job history oh yea that would have cost us about $200k and taken anywhere from 1-3 months of zero access to the files as damn near every service that does this takes the files off site.

Honestly I would suggest just dumping anything you are not legally obligated to keep as most of that history will be useless to you after a few years anyway.

Whenever I scan a document or text from a multi-funtion printer to the computer in order to edit it,it goes into Windows Photo Gallery as a jpg file.I'm not super capable on the computer and I can not get the scanned text to move somewhere to edit.Tried dragging it to Wordpad and Notepad, but when it opens it just looks like chicken scratches,it will go to Paint, and come up as a recognizable image, but I'm still unable to edit the text.I seem to spend hours going around in circles.Fortunately,my window doesn't open so I still have the computer,Vista and all.Can anybody help? Thank you. Chris

Answer:Scanning A Document To Vista For Editing

When you scan an image, the entire thing becomes an image. There is no text in the image.... there is a picture of text. As far as the computer is concerned, there is no text. If you want to change text in an image, you need decent graphics software and manually remove the colors, lines, and squiggles that represent text.

My daughter bought me an HP Photosmart printer/scanner/copier for xmas. I need to scan quite a few legal documents into the computer and then I want to edit the documents once scanned. So far I can't edit anything scanned.

A friend has bought himself a Brother MFC-J4410DW multi-function Wi-Fi printer. He wanted it for a number of reasons, one of which was to scan documents direct to email (he's elderly and not very computer literate, and scanning to a file and then attaching the file is a bit challenging for him).

When I first bought my CanoScan 8800F and set about scanning my old slides I was a bit enthusiastic and scanned at the default resolution. The resulting images, when printed, were poor quality. I have now started re-scanning all 124 slides at 4800dpi (or is it ppi?). The trouble is that when I enhance them or change their sizes Photoshop takes ages to complete the operation. Should I scan at 4800 or 2400 then resize the images to 600 before doing any enhancing? Is there some way to scan slides so that they print at an acceptable resolution but do not involve hours of waiting? I also want to burn the scanned images to a DVD.

When saving a Word 2007 document as a webpage (htm, html), an extra folder is automatically created besides the hmtl document itself. This folder contains background information like pictures, wallpaper etc. Is there a way to prevent that folder from being created in the first place? I've got Word 2000 on another computer, and when I save my word documents as html files over there, that extra folder is not generated. The only time that folder is created in 2000 is if my documents contain pictures, wallpaper etc. In Word 2007, it is created all the time, even though my documents are just plain text.

Answer:Solved: Word 2007, saving document as html document: how to get rid of extra folder?

Managed to find the solution, it was very simple after all. One has to save the document as a filtered webpage and click "yes" when a box pops up warning you that you will use certain featuers which are specific to Office2007, such as the background. Then the document will save without that extra folder and files.

I have two questions regarding documents created in Word 2007...

1) Can links be created within a Word document? For example, can I click on and item my table of contents and have the document jump to that particular section of the document?

2) Also, is there a way to make sections of the document hidden until the user clicks a specific word or graphic in the document?

I'd like to specify a particular instruction and include a "Show example" link that would make a detailed example appear for those who needed the extra help.

Thanks everyone!

Answer:Word 2007 - Links within a document? Hide/Show sections of a document?

If you created table of contents through References - Table of Contents, you can hold Ctrl and click on the item in that table, word will take you there. This feature is standard.

Also, to navigate inside document you can use bookmark option.
Insert bookmarks. Word 2010 Bookmarks
Then insert Hyperlink - in the window select second tab "Place in This Document" and choose your bookmark.

As for hiding parts of document, I do not think that is possible.
You can create that in HTML document with javascript, but not in Word document.

This is just one of those odd quirks I have run into. When I open a new document in Word, then open an older file, the new document closes and only the old one is displayed.Using Microsoft Office 2010, specifically Word.Windows 7 64-bitA bit of explanation, I often do research/writing for school or for fun. This issue has always happened, just one of those small annoyances. Here is the exact thing that is happening:1. I open a new (blank) word document, by clicking on the Word icon or by selecting "Open New Document" in the Word program.2. I open an older (saved) Word document, by clicking on the saved file, not by using the "Open" function in Word.3. The New (empty) document disappears, only the older document is open. I must now open a new empty document to write in. What I want to happen:1. Open new document2. Open old document3. Both new and old document are open (2 windows).Other notes in no particular order:- Word has always operated like this. Just wondering if there is a way to stop it.- I am not using the "Open" function in Word to open the older file, I am opening the older file by double-clicking it in the File explorer. When I use the "Open" function in Word, it does the same (basically "closing" the new file in order to open the old one). - I tried searching through Word's settings but couldn't find anything that seemed to relate to this behavior.- As per regular Word behavior, the new document is auto-na... Yes, you are right. That is normal for MS Word.Do this:Open a new document. Type something. Even a single space. Save it with a name you want. Now open an older document. Both documents can be on the screen or cascaded. If memory is not an issue, you can haven two instances of Word.

I am running XP and Word 2000 and Nortons. Word will crash if you leave the document open for a while (there is no specific time frame) and then select close (icon). The error - Microsoft Word for Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close. The details are: AppName: winword.exe
appver 9.0.0.3822
Modname: kernel32.dll
modvers: 5.1.26002180
offset 0001eb33

This has pretty much happened since I got this laptop. I have reformatted and reinstalled everything (due to another problem) and still have the same problem with word. I have used the same CD on other computers to install word and they do not have the same problem.

I use a variety of templates and plain documents in my work and can not pin point it to one template.

If you leave Word open with a document (no matter what size) and come back to it later this is when the problem happens. I started to get around it my saving first then closing, but this no longer works. The save completes and then I select Close and this is when it happens - you get the dreaded pause and then you hear the whirl of the computer and then you get the Microsoft Word for Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close. Firstly I could put up with it but is now just a nusiance.

This might be kind of tricky.

We're trying to streamline our RFQ-to-Quote process, which currently utilizes a combination of digital forms and hand-written forms passed among several departments. My boss asked me to modify the RFQ form to save him some typing (because he has to retype all the information in the final Quote), and I--not understanding the complexity of the process--very stupidly told him that it could be done fairly simply using form fields and bookmarks. He's been kind enough to grant me a lot of leniency because for him anything would be better than the current situation, so as long as I can improve on what we use now, he'll be happy.

I thought about creating form templates for each of the departments, then as the original RFQ circulated from one department to the next subsequent forms would be appended to it to create a rolling document. I'm not too happy with the that idea; there's all sorts of room for user error. I thought about creating a single document template containing every department's form, but a) I don't want any single department to be able to modify information gathered during another department's process, and b) certain departments must generate a variable number of copies of their form.

I told my boss the best way to accomplish a secure and low-maintenance RFQ-to-Quote would be to create a stand-alone Quote Generator application, but we both agree the effort is not condusive to the timeframe by whic... Read more

Hi all.

The other day whilst in the throws of fixing another unrelated problem I came across a strange and annoying Word Document problem.

When I bought this word document up it present a very unusual icon. It was grayed out and part of the title contained a ~$ then the name of the document.

When I tried to open it, the word document only opened up to the gray page just before it should turn white displaying the text, and there it froze.

Nothing worked after that! The freeze was so bad that the only way to close the window was to turn the computer off at the tower.

After rebooting I tried it again 2 more times with the same problem freeze occurring in the Word document.

Today I again found another document that caused the same problem, this time the icon for that document was normal but right beside this icon was another malformed grayed out ~$(name) icon.

When I tried to open either of the 2 icons I got the same freezing up problem, just as before.

I tried a previously suggested step in that I opened "Word" and from there navigated to where the bad files were located.

In turn I only hi-lighted each, and at the bottom of that window clicked on the arrow for the drop down box.

I was advised that one of the presented options was to repair the file. No such option was present.

So there you have it. Any advice on this problem please?

Regards

Answer:[SOLVED] Word document freezes computer and document is corrupted

Hi all.

Just to advise that I am going to mark this topic as Solved......to a fashion so to speak.
I may resurrect it at a later stage if the problem re-presents it's self.

In a nut shell. I spent a lot of time today searching sites and performing tests including searches on my computer program.

I ascertained that all the aforementioned "defective " Word documents originated in the same folder. After performing several search functions with the criteria as ~$.doc no other such files were found on my computer, other that the already mentioned.

All tests suggested would not repair the said documents.

I have now deleted the offenders and I will monitor the situation. If I run into problems again I will re-post.

Thanks anyway.

I have some documents that I have to scan. I bought the Canon Canoscan 9000F a couple of years ago. I never even opened it until yesterday. I also have a copy of Adobe Acrobat X that came with my other document scanner. So what is the difference between scanning to JPEG and scanning to PDF? I am leaning on scanning to JPEG because I want to also insert some of these documents into Microsoft OneNote. If I scan straight to PDF, then I'm not sure how to extract the document from the PDF and then insert it into OneNote later.

I plan to scan at 300dpi and if I scan to JPEG, at least I can import it into both Acrobat X and OneNote and use the programs to OCR the JPEGs. I can do that right? I think the OCR quality and speed will be better either Acrobat X or OneNote over ScanGear and MP Navigator EX (Canon's software). I think scanning to JPEG will take up more time, but might make my workflow easier given what I plan to do.

Any comments on how I should proceed with this?

Answer:What is the difference between scanning to JPEG and scanning to PDF?

Not sure specifically, but I know that Acrobat X can easily convert JPEGs into PDFs (it can even do several/hundreds of files as a batch conversion operation).

FILE -> CREATE -> PDFs from File...

It (Acrobat) also has a built-in OCR function, so you would be good to go there too.

TOOLS -> RECOGNIZE TEXT

So you can easily go form JPGs to PDFs as needed with what you already have, so that may be the most universal way to approach this IMO.

Hi,

I work at a small non-profit and we have updated two computers with new computers running Windows 7. We use MS Word 2003. I have checked all threads on forum related to this issue, but nothing seems to correct our problem. I would be grateful for any help.

Description of issue: With a Word document open, one should be able to click "File" > "Send To" > Mail Recipient As Attachment", or any of the other mail options, and have the email composition window of Thunderbird pop up. What happens is that Word is attempting to send the attachment via Windows Live Mail. The computer basically freezes. If you try and abort or get out of Word, and error pops up stating you can't close Word until the email has been sent. Finally, you have to force a shut down of the computer.

Internet Explorer shows Thunderbird as default email client. I have check all of the other obvious places for setting the default email client, but I can't seem to find a conflict anywhere on the computer showing Windows Live Email as default client.

As a side note, this employee was using Outlook Express as their email client prior to the computer upgrade and all setting were imported into Windows Live Mail, which was initially used. The employee did not like Windows Live Mail, so I installed Thunderbird. It is used as the default email client and the only issue has been with Word. Additionally, I know that the document could be sent from Windows Explorer by right-cli... Read more

I used "Edit Individual Documents" in order to get all the letters in one document. Now the problem is i need a backup of each letter on my computer and i have no clue if its even possible to save each page in the master document as a unique document. If not, is there a way of saving each unique document of a mail merger?

On my previous computer with Windows 2000, I was able to make incremental backups of a Microsoft Word document while it was being created by me. The advantage of this was that if an "accident" happened and the document was lost or corrupted before it was completed or saved to a folder, the partially completed document could be retrieved from a special folder somewhere in C-drive. I was able to specify how often a new backup was created (ex.: every 3 minutes, ex.; every 10 minutes, etc.). It is possible that this special folder also contained backups of all previously saved Word documents, which were also being re-backed up every few minutes. -- I cannot find any reference to this on my new computer (Windows XP and Microsoft Word 2002) in the Windows search engine, or in the Word user interface "Help". I cannot remember how I found this feature on my previous (W~2000) computer. -- Thanks

Hi....
I'm using word 2010.
I have a Mailmerge document (actually a company letter with header and footer, used by a package called "Cash4Windows" [C4W]). This document usually has the recipients name and address etc. inserted by C4W.
The document is a template - "xxx.dotx".
What I want to do is strip out the Mailmerge fields and save the document as a normal Word 2010 document, 'cos the User wants to have a blank standard company document available.
I've spent a long time fiddling with the Header and Footer to get just what the User wanted, and I know i could just cut-n-paste the Header and Footer into a new document, then save it as "xxx.docx", but when I looked on various help sites the normal method in Word 2010 seems to be
on the ribbon tab
Select Mailings
Select "Start Mail Merge"
Select "Normal Word Document"
then save the Word document.
I've tried this and it has absolutely no effect, as when I close and reopen Word and select the previously saved document, I still get the "Opening the document will run the following SQL command" splash screen!
I've tried saving the "normalised" document with various different extensions, but nothing seems to get rid of the SQL.
I've also tried opening the VBA editor (Alt+F11) to see if I can find the SQL, thinking that if I can delete the SQL it might cause Word to avoid the prompt, but I can't even find the SQL!!!

Hello

I don?t know what you mean with laptop keeps sending the document but if you have this issue with office word or some other office application, try to check some forum where you can find discussion about similar theme.

I can not give you any precise answer but it is maybe because of office specific settings or you press accidentally some key on the keyboard and on this way interrupt symbols entering.

I was working on a Word document that someone sent me by email in form of rar and saved the document. I now can't find the revised file and I have lost about 8 hours of work. Any ideas on where I can find this file? I looked in the email that was originally sent, but it is still the old file. I have also done searching on my computer with no luck. Help, I'm desperate!!! I have Word 2007. Please give me reply as soon as possible.

Answer:Cannot find the saved revised document in Word document

If you were only hitting "Save" and not "Save As" the document is likely, unfortunately, gone. You can try opening Word by itself and going through recent documents to see if it shows up. If you opened it directly from the email and the email was in Outlook, you might be able to find it in the Outlook Secure Temp Folder. To get to this folder, the easiest way is to send yourself a PDF file, open the PDF from the email then go to File | Properties and on the General tab (this is from memory, so I might be off a little bit) you'll find a location that you can click on. In this folder, you have a slight chance of finding the modified file. The only other option you have, that I can think of, would be digging through your temp folders hoping to find a .tmp or .doc file in there that has the content, but I give that about a .01% chance of happening. Good Luck!

Answer:Word Document within another document

The only simple way is to go to Insert, Object, Create from file and choose to insert your file as a link (these are 2003 instructions - would be similar in 2007, though.) However, you will then get a questions about the file having links and do you want to update...every time you open the file.
You could also just insert some text and hyperlink it to the other file.
Finally, someone could probably write some VBA that would insert the file and update it every time you opened it.

Hello, I have win xp, service pack 2, AVG, Sygate, Ad-Aware, Spybot, and more.

Recently my Sygate firewall has been telling me that someone is scanning my computer. I found this neat little program, Who Is, that tells me who is scanning me.

This IP address,61.152.158.125 is constantly scanning me, day and night and it is annoying. Since the program I have gives me info on this co, I am soooo tempted to email or call these people and tell them to CUT IT OUT.

Here is what Who Is has given me:

inetnum: 61.152.156.0 - 61.152.159.255
netname: SHANGHAI-GLOBAL-NET
descr: Shanghai Global Network Co. Ltd.
country: CN
admin-c: JY81-AP
tech-c: JY81-AP

status: ASSIGNED NON-PORTABLE
changed: [email protected] 20020819
changed: [email protected] 20040927

person: Ji Yi

Does anyone know who this co is or why they chose me to scan? Man I just wish people would just stop messing with computers that don't belong to them! Any advice would be appreciated.

Question: Scanning to pdf

Hi,

I've started using win 8 and having trouble scanning to PDFs, used to have acrobat 7 standard on my old vista PC currently i convert but would like to scan directly to PDF.

is there a free solution to do this? can anyone recommend if there is?

thanks.

Answer:Scanning to pdf

I know there is a scanning app at the Windows store and also found one there specifically for Brother printers but these don't have features I used to have through my Brother MFC-5840CN before moving from Windows Vista to 8.1. Has anyone found any free or not-too-awfully-expensive apps or programs to do this?

Note that I somehow utilized an old driver on my first Windows8.1 64-bit computer but, after getting a new one recently, I haven't been able to duplicate that. HELP!

Question: Help with Scanning

I have a form which I want to scan in so I have it on my computer so I can print of as and when. The problem is when I scan it in it copies all the writing ok but not the lines and boxes that the words are in. The copy I am scanning is nice and bold so I don't understand. Please help as I need it for work tomorrow. Scanner is a Lexmark X2230 and I have office 2003. Thanks.

Answer:Help with Scanning

I would suggest you muck about with the contrast settings. I would think that if your scanner can't detect the lines its just that they are too faint, if you alter the contrast it should then pick up the lines.

Answer:tcp scanning me

Looks like malware. I would run ADWCleaner - see Bleeping computer
Also. Malawarebytes (although some say this will not find it). I also hear that HitmanPro might get rid of it.
Alternatively can you do a system restore to before this happened?

As the title says, after I turned off my Anti-virus software, dds.scr will not scan the computer. It is on my desktop. Please advise.

Answer:dds.scr not scanning

Please note, this is just to assist you in trying to get logs. I currently have as many open topics as I can effectively handle, so please don't post the logs here.

What OS is this?

What happens when you attempt to run DDS? Does a command window open, then close? Not open at all? Open but no progress indicated?

Delete your existing version of DDS, and download fresh copy from one of these links.

here, here

Let me know if that works.

Hi,
I have an HP Deskjet F4140 all in one, and recently it stopped scanning through Photomart Essential. (Problem for about a month)

Everything else works. I can print, copy, & scan (using the scan button from the printer, so I know the actual scanner is working, but its to light to see the image).

If I load Photomart Essential to do a preview scan, and adjust because the scanner currently scans WAY to light, so you can't see the images, it will do the preview scan, then I adjust it, and click accept...nothing. It just freezes at the "preparing to scan" bar. If I try to exit, I end up getting the not responding error.

I've uninstalled & reinstalled the printer from CD. I've gone to HP and looked for updates, including downloading the latest Photomart Essential 3.5. No luck.

Is there anything else I can do? Or should I just suck it up and buy a new scanner/printer? Since everything else it working it feels like such a shame to buy a new one.

Thank you for any help you can give me

I'm on Windows Vista Basic.

Answer:HP All-In-One not scanning.

let's see if this works first, there are other things to try also,
this program seems to work when other softwares have problems, even uses the scanners software to do it's work,
http://www.irfanview.com/
and click the 'download - IrfanView' on the right
then after installing,
- plug in and turn on your a-i-o
then open irfan view and on the 'file' menu:
- choose 'select twain source'
in the pop-up window
- choose your scanner and click it
then, on the 'file' menu
- choose acquire
your scanner software opens and you make the final tweaks there,

post back and let us know what happens

Answer:HJT scanning

Your log shows that you are seriously behind on windows updates. It is essential that you update your windows before we continue to help you as the infections could reoccur. Go to http://www.windowsupdate.com and if it asks to install software, let it. Then click on the Scan link and let it do its thing. When its done you will see on your left a section called critical updates. Click on that section and install everything that you can. When it prompts you to reboot, do so. Then repeat this process again until there are no more critical updates listed. Then post a new log.

Question: Scanning

How can I scan and edit text documents in a windows 98se using an epson 1240U scanner and Works 2000?
The document will scan but it appears much to small for editing text as well as the text when entered ends up between the lines that it should be centered onto. I also have Open Office 2.0 installed but I'm not sure how to capture the image to edit it. Any help would be greatly appreciated !!
Thanks In Advance

Answer:Scanning

usually you need OCR software for converting scanned images into editable text. there are many available for purchase, and varying degrees of success rate with the scan coversions

a quick google came up with one free option you could try
