Stop windows moving when moving the mouse to the edge of the sceen

Question: Stop windows moving when moving the mouse to the edge of the sceen

Hi 10forums,

I've been finding this hard to describe and search for so I'm just going to upload a .gif to illustrate my problem.

I want to stop the window moving back onto the screen when the mouse is against the screen edge. Does anyone know if this is possible? Or even just what the 'feature' is called in Windows?

Much thanks

EDIT: Disabling Aero Snap will not stop this behavior.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

You have to disable "Snap to border/edge". Always check the Tutorials first on here. Brink has spent a lot of time giving us the best resources on the Web.

Alright sooooo.

I completely reformatted my computer. I have two drives.

I deleted/created partitions on both, and chose to format/install Windows xp on the C: driver. The format got to 100%, then said the format couldn't be completely probably due to a bad hard drive. I switched out my drive for another spare I had thinking I just got unlucky and my drive had died...

To my surprise, I got the same error with a completely seperate hard drive. Trying various things, I swapped the xp disk into my other DVD-Rom on my computer and the formatting went fine!

Xp was installed, no problems. Now, however, my CPU usage spikes to 100% when doing very minimal tasks such as moving a window around the screen (computer lags, leaving traces of the window around the screen) or even scrolling up and down on a web page with the mouse wheel.

Weird thing is, I can navigate both hard drives just fine. I don't know if my CPU is dying, motherboard dying, or what... But is there anyone that can help me out with this?

I'm currently reinstalling all my drivers praying that this somehow magically fixes it

Answer:CPU usage 20% just moving mouse, 100% moving windows or scrolling websites!

Does your graphics adapter have dedicated memory and, if so, how much? If it doesn't, how much does the RAM lend to it and how much is left over?

Had this happen before and I can not remember why, but its annoying. The mouse cursor goes beyond the screen only to the right and bottom. This is the biggest pain because sometimes you lose your cursor position. Another oddity is that programs can do this as well. During alt tab froma game its worse and has its own oddities. Some programs minimize and wont restore where I can see them. When I exit the game, I have to reboot to get programs to open. They open to the taskbar, but not on screen. So its in the tray or takbar.

Another example is my staus bar on Outlook express when checking email is off the screen, cant see it at all. Odd. I had tried a ATI card, removed it and went back to my 5900 Nvidia with newest drivers and Directx. Prior to that, it was a clean install. Tried plug and play monitor and proper drivers as well as different screen resolutions. Tried moving the screen to the left to get at the programs, but not there. In other words, the end of the viewable area is at the edge of the screen, but I can still go past it into nowhere land.

What is it I am missing because I can not remember.

Answer:Mouse moving past edge of monitor

Have you tried re-setting the resolution? (like to another, then back to the one you had originally).

Oops, guess you have (cant read). Does the card have a TV out? If so, have you disabled it if you're not using it?

I recently purchased an Edge 2-1580 and today I started encountering a very annoying issue.  When using my trackpad, my cursor will move itself about an inch diagnal from where I want it.  It doesn't move when I'm typing or anything but when I'm trying to move it to a scroll bar, it'll jump around away from the scroll bar, and its VERY annoying.  I tried "resetting" Windows and it had no change.  I have no idea what to do but its making using the computer extremely annoying.  I can't think of anything that would have set this off, as I made no changes when it started happening. Has anybody experienced this or have any clues how to fix it?

I have a bad habit of continually lifting and dropping my mouse off the mousepad while moving it around, a result of my hand becoming slightly uncomfortable and wanting to adjust positioning slightly.

Would anyone have any tips to stop the mouse from doing this? It of course stays on for like a microsecond after you lift it, sometimes causing my cursor to bullet slightly out from where I want it.

Thanks.

Windows 7, general Microsoft optical mouse (wireless)

Answer:Stop mouse from moving while lifting?

No. If you move the mouse, the cursor moves. With an old roller mouse, this likely wouldn't be an issue, but with a lazer mouse, the movement is detected.

Try adjusting the mouse sensitivity.

I am a bit worried because my cursor started hovering over my programs when I went to click the all programs on my start button. I'm not sure why but i'm pretty sure it wasn't my mouse. The reason being my cursor started hovering up and down over programs and I think it might of clicked something. I'm not sure if it did since i shut it off directly after I saw it move. I'm not sure what to do since i use mcafee total protection and it didnt find anything.

Hi all,

I play a game called starcraft 2, when playing this game you drag the mouse off the right side of the screen in order to move right. I just setup an extended desktop with one screen to the right of the primary.

When playing this game and trying to move right the mouse just moves onto the extended screen. Is there a way to stop this happening so when I am running the game to lock the mouse into it so that it wont move across to the other screen (so I'd have to alt + tab the game to do so).

It is really annoying and means I cannot play at all, so I would REALLY apreciate any help that people can offer!

Thank You

I recently bought a new PC with Windows 7 and IE8. It has taken some getting used to, but I'm adapting. One thing is really irritating me though that I can't adapt to.

If I click on a jpg to save it, a file-save window comes up. I have a file naming convention that I follow religiously. If I already have a picture of that item, I'll want to compare the new pic to my file copy and see which one I want to keep. Often the file-save window is in the way, so I push it off to the side so I can see the whole pic. SOMETHING (I don't know if it's Win7 or IE8) pushes the window back into view, covering part of the pic I'm trying to compare. I really don't want to close the file-save window while I'm doing my comparison, because that would create re-work if I decide to save it.

I looked at the options on the Advanced tab on the Internet Options menu, but none of the items there seem to relate to this.

What is going on? How do I stop this?

Answer:How do I stop IE8 from moving my windows around?

Open Performance Information and Tools by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type Performance Information and Tools, and then, in the list of results, click Performance Information and Tools.

Click Adjust visual effects. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Click the Visual Effects tab, click Let Windows choose what's best for my computer.
See if that corrects your window problem.

I have a number of MP3 tracks in the "MY MUSIC" folder and use Media Monkey to play and burn them. Every now again the tracks grey out because it cannot find them anymore but on checking the filepath it is still correct. However, on checking the folder, some tracks have mysteriously moved! It largely affects tracks that were ripped with no known database tags and thus ripped as but has happened with others as well.
This is fine as I generally rename the files and move them to the part of the folder were all the tracks are kept and this gives them a more standard filepath which MM then adds to the library. Every now again a few months after being ripped, the tracks just dissappear and go back into a folder of their own with the UNKNOWN tags back again and I have to go back through the process again. The annoying this is that may happen when nothing is being used. I may just open the music folder or download a track to it without WMP or MM being open and I only know it has happened when I try to play the song.
How can I stop the files being moved without my knowledge and how can I stop them getting renamed. They are always renamed with the current date and time so the PC isn't reverting back to the same name as before. Is this normal for the pc to move stuff about????

Answer:How can I stop Windows XP moving files about?

Its not just windows, its programs you use that's moving them

I originally posted this problem in the IE8 support section, but have since determined it is a Windows 7 problem.

I recently bought a new PC with Windows 7 and IE8. It has taken some getting used to -- I'm adapting, but there's one irritating thing that I can't adapt to.

If I click on a jpg to save it, a file-save window comes up. I have a file naming convention that I follow religiously. If I already have a picture of that item, I'll want to compare the new pic to my file copy and see which one I want to keep. Often the file-save window is in the way, so I drag it off to the side so I can see the whole pic. However, the window pops back, covering part of the pic I'm trying to compare. I really don't want to close the file-save window while I'm doing my comparison, because that would create re-work if I decide to save it.

I looked at the options on the Advanced tab on the Internet Options menu, but none of the items there seem to relate to this.

The advice I got from the IE8 support section was to upgrade to IE9 beta. On a whim, I tried a similar action in MS Word (actually clicked "change picture" to get a pop-up window), and it does the same thing there. If I try to drag the window off to the side, it pops back. Accordingly it appears this is a Win7 thing and not an IE8 thing.

Anything I can do to prevent this? If I drag a window off to the side I want it to stay there not pop back.

The problem with windows "auto-maximizing" has to do with one of two things: a) your mouse-pad settings... b) Windows 7 and 8 Ease Of Access features.

Under Ease of Access features, Auto-maximizing is enabled by default, and lets you drag any open application window to the top of your screen and then, when you let it go, the window will change from sized to full screen. If you move it to the right or left edge it will open the windows to full screen size vertically and half screen size horizontally. To turn this feature off simply open up the Control Panel, then the Ease of Access Center. Click on the section called Make the mouse easier to use and check the box next to Prevent windows from being automatically arranged when moved to the edge of the screen. Once you click OK your windows will stay the size you set no matter where you move them.

As for mouse-pad settings, A double click on the upper border of a window will always maximize it. When you move a window, you "grab it" & move... after you drop it, you then have to again touch the mousepad to move your curser... this registers as a double-click on the border (i.e., a request to maximize.) The only way to deal with that is to play around with those mouse-pad settings... (1) the speed of double click required for the system to recognize it as a double click, and (2) the pressure required to register a click.

Ok this is my first post here. I have installed Windows 7 32 bit clean installs twice now on a Dell GX960 4 gig of Ram. I go to install Groupwise and Norton and I notice installs are going extremely slow, I can move the mouse and the speed seems normal. I have noticed this when I try to open the internet, move something, boot up, shut down I move the mouse and you can see the busy circle works normally, stop moving the mouse and the busy circle stutters and the machine seems really slow.
I have checked the event viewer and there is nothing there except where I have cancelled installs for office or adobe. I have checked the device manager and there is no conflicts. Deleted the Dell Laser mouse and rebooted, it reinstalled and still same issues.
I have installed this on 2 laptops and have no issues with them, they actually run GREAT! Decided to do my office machine and well, it is not going as smooth

Any ideas would be helpful. Anyone seen this before??

Thanks,
Doug

I use FULLSHOT. It's not free, but it's terrific. Been using it (and each of its upgraded versions) for 15 years now.

Keyboard hotkey shortcuts can be used to trigger assorted types of screenshots, so that the mouse does not have to be touched. Or, you can also use mouse clicks on a row of buttons superimposed on the right side of the titlebar in whichever window has the focus. GUI windows that don't have a title bar but that have the focus require use of the keyboard hotkeys to accomplish screenshots.

You can try it out for free and decide for yourself if it meets your needs.

Hi,

I have a problem never seen before on other computers. It comes on a Vista preinstalled MSI notebook:
- if I want to move a window. I need to click onto the window title bar, and move to the destination and click again to release the mouse. It comes in browsing too. If I want to move down the scroll bar I need just click once then if I move the mouse, the scroll bar is moving until I dont click again. Similar problem in handwriting. At the end I need to click again. So it looks to be a general setting somewhere. It is annoying. How to set up the default settings comes on all systems?

Thanks!

Gerhard.

Hi guys the other day my mouse pointer stated moving all over the place, I immediately disconnected the Internet thinking I was being remote accessed or something but it kept happening. It also disconnects my Windows firewall when I I keep checking it.
I have run malware bytes in safe mode and I am now running super malware bytes to see if that helps in safe mode. When I power up it seems ok for a while and then it starts again. When it moves and clicks it has a blue circle click point which is not normal mouse operation.
Any ideas what this could be and what I should be looking for in the system 32 files?

Answer:my mouse pointer keeps moving around and opening up windows media player

Hello -I have run malware bytes in safe mode <= Please note {almost useless}
Malwarebtyes Anti-Malware should be run in normal mode when you can as it is not designed that way. You would get a read-out, but in Safe mode all programs and features are not available to be scanned.
When it moves and clicks it has a blue circle click point which is not normal mouse operation <= This is very normal if you press the mouse wheel down by accident. Also the wheel can be located off center that will create the same effect.

I can create the same effect while just sitting and playing here.
The pointer will not "float all over the page" but it wil move the page, and the pointer up and down.

Is your mouse a bit old or a bit stiff in its actions. Please try to hold the scroller down at random times, move the mouse pad, and try to recreate the same problems.
Also try this with another mouse .........

Thank You -

About a few days ago out of the blue for no reason or warning, when i'd start up my laptop it would work fine but after i'd log in the whole system would just freeze after a few minutes, other times instantly after log in. When it freezes it doesn't give me a chance for the start up programs, like my printer software, to load. The mouse would slow down, stop working, or disappear entirely while the keyboard will become useless but the power button would still work. If I do a reset cycle the same issue would just pop up again. I have tried letting it run, I can use it for a bit and copy over some files to a usb but the transfer would get stuck at 99% for ages, eventually process will finish but then after it will lock up.
I am very concerned as I have a few files on there that i need to access.
I have tried uninstalling a few programs, and turning on without wifi but no luck. However on January 11th I was able to use it for the entire afternoon but the next day the freezing came back and still occurs.
I have also tried a System Restore but it just gets stuck at 8%

I have a client that has to regularly move emails from his inbox to a PST on his company shared drive. Moving files under 100kbs seem fine but this client needs to regularly move emails upwards of 5Mbs in size to his PST on the share. When he does move these files his outlook gets hung up to the point of completely freezing everything on his computer just to move the email. It can take upwards of 10-20 minutes to move one file.

The troubleshooting I have performed:
-I tried setting his network adapter to 100 Mbs Full Duplex, didn't appear to do anything
-Speed test his connection, he is running about 1.2-1.5 Mb down and 1.5+ Upload, so no issue there.
-I tested moving a 15Mb file to his shared drive, this seemed to be uploading fine, after a minute or 2 it was nearly half done, so this leads me to believe the issue is more pertaining to outlook.
-I then killed his outlook profile, recreated him a new one and remapped the PSTs.
-Had him test moving files again, and the same issue is still occurring.
-The client also reports this was not always an issue and had recently started happening.

At this point I am stuck and would like any advise anyone may have to offer for a solution.

Answer:Outlook - Moving emails to a PST on a share moving very SLOW! Help Please

Hi everyone.
I just bought a new SSD.
I plan to whipe my old drive and put the OS onto the SSD. On my current drive I quite a few games.

The question I have is about backing up games/moving the files.
I have steam, origin and battlenet. I tried to use steam back up before, it stopped working and now I have a file that I can not delete.

I have not found a battlenet backup, or an Origin backup.
Due to all of the games being digital, I do not want to spend a day downloading all of my games over again.

The question I have:
Is it possible to move the files (i.e. programx86 --> steamapps) onto my external, then when the clean install is done, move the files back to the same location?

Is this a viable/possible solution, or what would you recommend I do to spare my data cap/time?

Thanks all.

Answer:Moving files to external, formatting then moving back.

If your system is working well the best way to do this is to take an image of the old drive and then restore it back to the SSD, or simply direct clone the old drive onto the SSD. I've had good results with Aomei Backupper to do this. If SSD space is a problem you could remove data and unused progs first, and do disk cleanup.

If the system is on its last leg, you're probably going to have to reinstall the progs onto a fresh install of Win7 on the SSD.

In either case, back up your valuable personal data.

I would like to know how to keep the XPS 15 9550 from resizing open windows at various events, such as turning off the display after a few minutes of inactivity, lid close, going to sleep/hibernate, when changing from AC to battery and vice versa...
I would also like to keep windows open on the external display in case it disconnects for a while, the way I had it set up on my previous Lenovo laptop. Currently they are all moved to the primary window in case of a disconnect - and not only an actual disconnect but also upon entering or waking from sleep etc. It is a pain having to redistribute 10+ windows back to the external display...

My laptop will unexpectly move the mouse to the upper right hand corner. It will also occasionally open up the action center window or settings windows. It also sometime dims the display. This has been very frustrating. I have tried a lot of recommendations online but nothing appears to work. Also while it is doing this I notice circles on the right had side of the display that come and go. It is almost like someone is controlling my laptop.

Please please someone help.

I can find all over the internet five years worth of people that cannot watch videos, download, buffer, or even load pages unless they are constantly moving their mouse.

If I click a video on youtube or anything I have to tickle my mouse pad constantly or video freezes and only audio plays.

When downloading anything I have to constantly move mouse/cursor or it pauses.

Although this problem is raised in forum after forum, and question area - not one of them has the answer - and the threads just get closed off. Can anyone actually answer this one?

Did anyone anywhere ever get this sorted and can they come back and say what they did to resolve it please?

New laptop, only a few months old - Windows Seven Home Premium.

Scanned and nothingthere wrong - as did everyone else.

Please do not close the thread until we get a solution...

Thank you for reading - Julietstorm.

P.s. Here is a typical thread of which there are many that has been closed without a resolution being posted. Please don't close this thread, please could tech guy be the first to actually solve this in five years?

This thread describes the problem too: an example of a closed thread: http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vi...se-moving.html

Question: can't stop moving

recently bought a new system, ati 5750 card win7 64 bit home premium and a 4xcore processor. Everything runs well and over all there is no problem, I'm using a standard mouse and a ergonomic keyboard I got from argos almost 2 years ago.

I got the system in mid jan and since then I've had three occasions where when both running everquest 2 and now far cry 2 where I start running/moving and I'm unable to stop! I just keep moving each time I've had to quit out and reload and it works fine again! the first two times it did this was now several weeks ago and I just thought it was a known problem on eq2 but for it to suddenly do it to me today on far cry2 I found a bit weird! I have checked and sticky keys are NOT enabled is it the keyboard playing up? any ideas at all?

Answer:can't stop moving

Have you tried using a different keyboard, if the problem persists then it could be an issue with the keyboard controller on the motherboard. Borrow someone elses keyboard and give it a whirl.

I bought Thinkpad Edge E530. One of the most annoying problems currently is that the touchpad seems to be a bit loose. When you put your finger on it, it moves down maybe like 0.1-0.4mm. Very little movement but still enough to be annoying. And you also hear a dim click sound when you put your finger to it when the touchpad "hits" the surface below it. I guess this would be easy to fix by putting something between the touchpad and the surface below it (a layer of cloth for example), that would prevent it from moving. But is this possible at all?   Or is this enough reason for to use the onsite warranty to get a new touchpad, or would the new one most likely have the same problem...? I read from one review that they noticed this same thing too, so unless it is a "property", there must be large batch of laptops affected.

Answer:loose touchpad (moving, Thinkpad Edge E530)

Do you know you can actually click the touchpad like it's a mouse button?

I have an old PC with WinXP (sp3) installed. I did something - combination of keys I think which means that every time I move the mouse to the left edge of the desktop the contents of "My Computer' is displayed as a split screen - white background and no menu bars. I do not have dual monitors enabled, neither do I have tiled options in the Task manager. This also happens in Safe mode. I cannot find any settings - folder, views etc that have changed from my usual setup. If I open another folder this displays as normal - ie size, position and menu and status bars.Any help would be appreciated please. Thanks in advance.

Answer:Moving to left edge on desktop displays split

Is this just a case of you have inadvertantly enabled the desktop toolbar and set it to autohide? If so then on the bottom right hand of the task bar (in an empty space) right click, select toolbars and untick desktop.___________________________________________? Can't scroll by holding middle mouse and moving mouse in IE in the latest build. Anyone has the same issue?

Answer:Can't scroll by holding middle mouse and moving mouse in IE

Does it cause a view of all open apps to come up? That was happening to me before.
If your mouse is a Microsoft mouse, go to Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Mouse -> Mouse and Keyboard Center tab and click on "Click here to change Microsoft mouse settings." From there you can set your wheel button to "Middle-click" to make it behave as normal.
If that's not the problem, then I'm not sure.

Hi, i have what most would see as a a trivial problem, but if anyone can help solve it i would be most gratefull. I have an External hard drive and use it to contain folders containing items such as photos for example. The folders are numbered 01, 02. 03 and so on. Nows the problem. When i send new stuff into the drive that has not yet been designated a folder it allways goes in front of my numbered folders. so i end up with lots of files that i have to move away from the main ones. Is there a way to lock these numbered folders so they dont move? There i told you it was trivial. but its a Nuisance i could do without.

Answer:Stop Folders Moving

i am not familiar with "moving" folders as you describe. I do know that when you create folders within another and go back from that folder to copy information, the folders are automatically alphabetized.

You can try to use the Remember folder settings option. Start>My Computer>tools>folder options>View>Remember each folder's settings checkbox. Check it to enable the feature.

This will require that you close any windows where you have folders viewed. This will apply the setting to all folders when you start a Computer browser window.

try that.

I have Vista Home Premium. I recently bought and added an emerson HDTV/monitor to my computer.

My Acer H233H flat panel is hooked up to the DVI-D video port, and the Emerson is connected to the HDMI connector. I spread the desktop across both.

Until I added the Emerson, the desktop icons stayed where I placed them.

After the Emerson, the icons moved all to the left side of the flat panel in one large rectangular block. They aren't on top of each other, but spread apart correctly.

Today when I turned on the computer, and used the remote to turn on the Emerson, the block of icons moved to the center of the flat panel screen.

Is there anyway, cheaply or free, I can put the icons where I want them, and have them stay put ?

There was a program years ago that would do this for Win98 and I think WinXP, but I haven't heard of one that does the same for Vista.
Thanks !

edit: and if I turn off the emerson, the icons I placed there move back. But that part is likely normal.

Answer:How do I stop pictures from moving around in Excel?

Try making the file "read only" when you've finished working on it.Right-click the file and choose "Properties".Tick the "Read only" box.Click 'OK'.That might not stop Windows altering the formatting, but it's worth a try.If that doesn't work, try this in the actual Excel document:Right click each picture in turn, and choose Format Picture, Properties, "Don't move or size with cell".

Does anybody know a foolproof way of keeping the desktop icons in place? I am running XP Pro. I set my icons on the desktop where I like them. At various times they will suddenly move so that they are all along the left of the screen. They do this:

(1) If I log off and log back on,
(2) When my antivirus (avast) updates,
(3) Sometimes when Outlook Express finishes checking mail,
(4) Sometimes when I open Explorer (but not most of the time)
(5) At other times when something a little "traumatic" happens like maybe closing a program that is a little stubborn.

I have been trying various things over a period of months. Some programs or methods don't seem to work at all, others seem to work for a while then things get worse and worse. Nothing seems to actually stop the icons from repositioning.

Things I have tired:

Iconlock (not for XP but it has its uses)
DeskLock
DI?????? (Can't remember the name)
Tried both 0 and 1 for a registry entry for Explorer, NoSaveSettings
Everything in TweakUI that seems remotely associated with something like icons.

Right now, I can't go along for more than 15 or 20 minutes without the entire desktop being rearranged. I then use Iconlock to put them back but I have to do a "restore" three or four times to get them all restored.

Sounds like the Auto-Arrange option is selected.

What does it say when you right-click a blank spot on the desktop, and select 'Arrange Icons By'? Is there a check next to AutoArrange? If so, clear it by clicking on the option. This should let you move your icons freely.

I'm using my intuos 4 to move around, but my mouse won't even click, or move for that matter? My other mouse can move, however, it can't click. I'm trying to use my current mouse, but it doesn't work at all? I've been trying all day, mostly because I really want to game out for the rest of it, but I've tried using a different port, reconnecting it, uninstalling it, disabling and enabling it, and nothing seems to work? Should I wait until I can get a new mouse, or is there a solution to this problem? I've also tried the most obvious, restarting my computer..?

My OS is Windows 7, and I've tried my mouse on another computer, it does work. Just not on this computer, I guess?

Answer:Mouse is on, but isn't moving at all?

If it doesn't work on multiple computers its broken then and needs to be replaced.

Hi, i got myself a Microsoft® Wireless Laser Desktop 6000 set.
It was awesome, oaky for gaming and stuff and all satisfying.
Due to the Spring Festival that i had to have my PC behind so..
after i got back from home, my keyboard is fine and all but my mouse is not moving
the Desktop receiver reads my wireless keyboard just fine while it's not reading my mouse.
at the setup page the reading says my mouse's signal and battery level is good, so issit the mouse's battery problem or something that didn't allow the receiver reads my mouse.

Answer:Mouse not Moving

My mouse has started moving around of it's own accord. We can be using the mouse when all of a sudden it will start moving around all over the screen (quite slowly) and you can't make it stop until it's ready. We've bought a new laser mouse but it doesn't make any difference. Have run several scans for viruses and now don't have any. Anybody got any ideas? (system is on Windows XP Home).

Answer:Help! Our mouse keeps moving on it's own!

what kind of mouse pad are you using? try using a white sheet of paper and see if it still moves on its own.

Hi guys, wondering if anyone can identify my problem? I'm not brilliant on computers, I just point and click. I have a HP laptop which has Vista on it. The other day my mouse randomly stopped moving. The light is still on on the bottom, but the light on the wheel went off. I didn't think this was serious and the mouse was just broken, so I went out and bought a new one today. But I have exactly the same problem. I've cleaned out the port, but nothing.Any ideas? Cheers.

Hi,

For the last 3 to 4 weeks every time I boot up my computer my mouse is pulsating and moving across the screen from right to left. This activity lasts for about 5 minutes and everything is then fine. When it is happening it is so annoying trying to open and close programs. I have tried uninstalling the mouse and rebooting, and that didn't work.

I am running XP home SP2.

Any ideas?

Question: Moving mouse

Just thought I'd inquire about a moving mouse on Dell latitude laptop d610. It moves form one side of the screen to the other and then returns. Sometimes it moves only halfway across the screen. I thought @ first someone was using remote access fooling around. The user is using an external usb mouse with a docking station. Should I just replace the mouse or suspect something different?

Answer:Hard Stop - Completion of cells before moving on

I can think of no way this can be done using a formula, I believe you are going to have to use a Macro.MIKEhttp://www.skeptic.com/

Outlook 2003, single user mailbox (i.e. no shared mailbox in the account) I have a folder called "Conflict 2010" as a sub folder to my In-box. When ever I send emails the Sent copy goes to this folder instead of the "Sent folder" I have recreated my profile, cleared all rules, ran the command lines /reset folders and /cleanprofile. Still getting the same error. I have set my profile with and without cache mode. I would reinstall the software but this is happening on a few different machines not just my own. Any advice?

Answer:How to stop outlook auto moving sent emails?

Did you check server-side rules? Log on using OWA to see.Regards,Victor

I have two monitors. One uses dual DVI cable and one uses DisplayPort. When the monitors wake up after a sleep, the apps on the DVI monitor move to the DisplayPort monitor. This probably has to do with the difference when Windows senses which monitor is active first.
Is there a way to stop the apps from moving? Is there a tool which restores the apps positions after a wake up?

Answer:How to stop apps from moving from one monitor to another upon monitors

I have found a work-around.
Using Sysinternals ProcessMonitor I found that Windows was accessing the following Registry path;
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers\Configuration

My system had three entries;
DELF003YY7707BR0MUL_30_07D7_6A^9A3774EB79DEE3E3E38496CC7DF4D936
QHD32000001_31_07D6_D5^63E1ABDD175E7871DCAEB710418A0F75
SIMULATED_8086_2A42_00000000_00020000_1010100^CDE365D1B3F0942F0CF38BFB8E127AB4

Under each is a tree called "00" two of the keys are
PrimSurfSize.cx
PrimSurfSize.cy

Under "00" was another branch also called "00" two of the keys are;
ActiveSize.cx
ActiveSize.cy

The first two of the configs (ie DELF00... & QHD3...) the above keys were 1440x900,
so they were not involved.
The third (SIMULATED...) were set to 1024x768.
I changed these to 1600x900 and the problem was solved.
Further I changed resolution (via control panel) to 1920x1080, the moving/resize issue returned,
but the lower right corner was set to 1600x900, ie the SIMULATED... settings.
So for some reason one of the configs does not get set correctly.
I don't know why there are three configs, I have only ever used one monitor.
Hope this helps someone out there...

my mouse on my hp mini is frozen in the center of my computer screen.i tried to use a cord mouse but it still not working

Answer:my mouse on my hp mini is not moving

Does the keyboard do anything? If not then the computer is frozen, if so then either you have a USB issue (if the mouse connects via usb) or your mouse is broken. To test if there is any USB issues, remove ALL other USB devices from the system and see if there is any response.

A couple of days ago I noticed that my various games had started jerking. Animations would slow down to stop-motion at odd intervals, which I eventually discovered happened every time I moved the mouse/cursor. I opened the system-monitor and noted that the CPU usage increased drastically whenever I moved the mouse. It would go from 2% up to 100% and I can't figure out why. (See attached .jpg file)

I haven't installed anything odd recently, apart from 2 1Gb blocks of RAM to supplement the 1Gb I already had.

I freely admit that I have no idea if this is a malware or hw problem.

Answer:100% CPU usage by moving the mouse?

I fotgot to mention that the mouse is a Logitech trackball. I tried switching it from the regular port to the USB, but it made no difference.
I've checked the RAM blocks by doing the old swap thing, but that didn't make any difference either.
Formatting the C-partition and reinstalling windows didn't help either.

Also: *Bump* =)

Basically when I move my mouse (just a generic "optical mouse") I get a static sound though my headphones and speakers and people can hear it when it skype with them, unplugging mouse fixes it and it only occurs when I move the mouse. What could be the problem? Side note: This is my Dad's PC, trying to fix it for him with your help of course.

Answer:Static when moving usb mouse

Try a different mouse.

Hi, first post
My problem is that whenever I move my mouse, the computer lags. This problem shows it's head after a while when the computer is on.
I open up Task Manager and in the processes list I watch csrss.exe use 70+% CPU as I move my mouse around on the screen. When the mouse is still or moving very slowly, the process drops down to normal usage.
I can test that it lags the whole system by opening any program then watching it load very slowly as I move my mouse. I do it again and it loads at normal speed without moving my mouse.

I have a Logitech G5 running on a
2.4Ghz
1.25Gb RAM
Geforce 6600
If you want a full DxDiag or Hijack this just ask

This problem is annoying for me because I tend to be micromanaging many applications open at once and I don't like lag!!

My mouse has been moving like it is on a grid ever since i got this computer. It is not a very smooth mouse movment. Now i bought a rat 7 thinking it would fix the problem but this did not. my dpi is like 3200 when i play games and i can still notice my mouse popping into place on the screen. small amounts but enough where i can not snipe or aim at a long range in games. I've messed with every sensitivity setting every dpi setting. I reinstalled the drivers a few times for my GPU and my mouse. turned off mouse acceleration. turned off and on mouse precision. Tried the raw data settings in games. My video card is an nvidia zotac gtx 560 2gb. I heard turning off scaling in the nvidia options and i even tried that. That did not work either. It is the same for all shooters i have played on my computer (thats when you notice it the most) What could possibly be the problem and how exactly do i fix it?

Hardware:

Mouse - Rapoo v900 (2 month old)

i5 3550
gigabyte - B75M-D3V
corsair 8 GB RAM 1600MHz
GTX 285
Win7

450 PSU

Hey all,

my problem is: Since a few weeks my mice deactivates its selfs every few minutes while i'm using it. So if i watch videos and dont move the mice it stays connected.

What if have done so far:

updated/reinstall mouse driver
updated bios
updated win7

tried every USB Port
tried another mouse -> same problem
scanned system for viruses
PSU delivers enough Power ( deplugged the GPU )
deactivated the power-saving option for the USB-Ports

I dont think the cable is broken, because the mice is relatively new and i just bought this one, because my old one had the same problems.

Most of the times this happens:

playing some games and the mice just froze and the buttons dont work neither for a few seconds. The LEDs are still working tho. After that few seconds windows gives me that "You have disconnected something"-sound and the mice is working again. Sometimes it even goes like Bep-Boop-Bep-Bep-Boob-Bep-Boob....

pretty anoying

Please i need your help, this just drives me crazy.

Do you have any ideas?

Thanks Monty.
