Red typo lines when no typos

Question: Red typo lines when no typos

Hello everyone,

I am experiencing the red typo lines when there are no typos. This happens on occasion when I'm typing emails and posting or responding to forums. It seems to occur when there is an actually typo and I correct the error. After that the entire post/email from that point on will have the red typo lines.

For example it is happening now... I'll try to post a pic for a better understanding.

Has anyone experience this as well and most importantly does anyone know of a solutions to this?

My unit is new and I have yet to DL Office 365 so I don't have Word. Not sure if that will matter.

Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have Windows 7 with Internet Explorer 11, all updates installed, MSE updated as well. I have no add-ons or BHOs either, aside from Shockwave from Adobe. I cannot edit typos in comments in Facebook with Internet Explorer 11. Comments edit just fine with Chrome, and with Opera as well. A clean format with no other software present means that no virus got in, no interference was possible as only windows update was accessed. I have cleaned with Wise Registry cleaner and Wise Disk cleaner, no help. I have spelling correction enabled as well.

Hello, I recently received a new Thipad P50 laptop for work and worked on it several times without issue while connected to a power source. However, when relying on battery power only, I've been experiencing very unusual behavior which leads to many typos as keystrokes are not registering when typing. What's happening is while typing, every few seconds I notice the active window appears to "toggle" and by this i mean that the translucent header above the address bar flashes and changes color slightly, similar to what happens when toggling between active windows. This occurs frequently while typing, and while it toggles, keystrokes simply do not register resulting in many typos. For example, in typing this message, it's taken me three times as long as it should because I have to re-type and correct typos. This is maddening! At first I thought it may relate to slightly resting my hand on ttouchpad or related keys that is resulting in this but can confirm this is not the case as I'm making a point to not rest my palms on the laptop and am still experiencing the issue. I have not done too much experimenting trying to identify the source but I have noticed that I only seem to experience this issue while working from the laptop battery. I do not seem to experience the problem while connected to a power source. I've tried changing the power settings hoping this may help but to no avail. If i can't get this remedied, I will have to return the laptop. Of what use is thi... Read more

Windows XP SP3, Dell XPS 400 system. Service contract expired.
I have a persistent blue screen error. Initially it indicatated hardware problem, now refers to a virus and says to run CHKDSK /F, but I cannot get to a DOS prompt to do that.

I cannot get into Windows, even in safe mode. The computer displays numerous spelling errors on the F8 after starup screen where I can choose from safe mode, last know good, etc.

Any idea what that might be telling me?

I was thinking if I had a boot disk I could at least get to the DOS prompt to run chkdsk.
I have an XP SP1 original CD and booted off it but it only offered install or repair windows, which would not work for some reason. Not sure if I want to go there either.

How can I get far enough into the boot sequence with XP to get to a DOS prompt, or do I even need to?

I'll get more info later but this laptop battery is dying. Please let me know what info will help you - Stop error exact text I would think, what else?
Thanks for your help.

Okay helping a friend via long distance phone calls and the random email. This is the only info I have, if someone could shed some light on this and help, we both would appreciate it. Here is the email she was able to send:

"Still messing with that damn trojan. AVG sees it and asks the usual, delete, heal, or move to vault. No matter how many times I choose delete, or heal or even move, it comes back again and again. This is what was causing my IE to try and dial out (at least, that's what I get from looking online for info on this damned thing) and share my info with the hacker. Avast does not seem to see...this file. It is saving itself (and apparently restoring itself) in my Windows folder as a dll file. prntsvr.dll to be exact.

The name AVG gives is PSW.Dumarin.C. The last thing I tried was to turn my

Question: Microsoft Typo

Microsoft made a typo in their WinSAT application, How can we let them know about it?

Answer:Microsoft Typo

Hi Steven,

You can try contacting them by following the link below. Whether or not you will get a response I cannot say. I have managed to locate the error in the 'WinSAT.exe' file (notice the space between the letters), and you can edit it to replace the erroneous 'o' with an 'i', however by doing so you will probably cause it to fail an SFC scan. In my opinion, it is such a minor error that it is probably best left ignored.

I mistyped a url earlier (I believe i typed 'radiosahck' instead of radioshack) and was redirected to a strange website (something about internet surveys I believe) I closed it right away and did a quick scan with malwarebytes to make sure nothing was wrong, and it came up empty. I'm probably being a bit paranoid here, but is this anything to really worry about?

Answer:Odd URL typo redirect...

Redirects can be something to worry about, as you have no idea what content is being hosted on the re-direct. Most popular anti virus programs, have real-time scanning, where it's constantly scanning your computer, and as soon as you're redirected to a bad website, it will block any content that's harmful to your computer. I use Eset and it does this.

So I was browsing around in Windows Defender (Windows Settings > Update & Security > Windows Defender > Open Windows Defender Security Center > Virus & threat protection > Virus & threat protection settings, then scroll down to Controlled folder access.)

The sentence "Protect your files and folders from unauthorized changed by unfriendly applications" has a typo in it.
(Refer to the attached picture)

Either:
? The word "changed" has a typo in it and should be the word "changes" (with an 's' instead of a 'd'), or
? There is at least one missing word in between the words "unauthorized" & "changed"
Somebody should inform Microsoft about this typo.

But Also: I noticed that this is a new option, since the last time I was browsing around in there. What does this option exactly do? It was originally off, but I turned it On. Yet I must say that I have seen a few messages pop up in the right corner of the screen, stating that Windows Defender blocked some programs from making changes. One of them showed explorer.exe from modifying the Favorites folder without me doing anything with Favorites. Exactly what does this option do? Is it kind of like some sort of strict "Firewall"? Because if so, then I like that.

Answer:HAH, I Found A Typo In Windows!

Blocks access to your files and documents by unknown apps (malware/ransomware). It's off by default because not all 'good' apps are in it's 'trusted' list. It takes a bit of fiddling to get all your apps to work after you turn it on.

Hi can someone please help clear up my concerns because I accidentally interned the wrong DNS address on my new router.
After entering this typo I almost immediately that my connection was unstable especially on Linux and yesterday evening when I logged back into my router the DNS settings were set to there defaults. But I was able to surf the web kinda in Windows though it timed out often and certain webpages wouldn't even open, and now when ever I enter the correct DNS settings it disconnects from the internet.

Here's what I entered

222.67.222.222
220.67.220.220

Instead of

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

I'm really feeling uneasy and stressed about this, any advice?

Why does stuff like this happen whenever your in poor health or any other of life's trials and complications?

Answer:Open DNS typo on router

Two things you might check:

1. In Windows, do your Network Properties have a DNS Server entry(s) that point(s) to your router (probably 192.168.1.1 or close) or do they point to the published OpenDNS IP addresses? Easy check: From an Elevated Command Prompt: ipconfig /all

2. After you corrected the DNS router entries, did you have the router do a cold reboot?

I believe you shouldn't overly stress yourself over this if you didn't make any financial transactions. But new passwords could be needed.

Hi,

I am having a problem when i misspell URLs.

When i type things like google.con instead of .com, i am redirected to a host of different search sites, including searchathand.com, and daplaces.com. I am pretty sure i must be infected with something, but i have ran several online and offline spyware and malware scanners and nothing seems to find a problem.

I am running Firefox version 1.5.0.6, but the problem also occurs in IE as well.

Advise please!

Cheers

Joel

Edit: I seem to have found what i think is the culprit for this...but this leads to another problem.

There is a HJT entry stating
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{A2EA3617-0DD4-4C7B-89EC-1F1FB24D96E1}: NameServer = 85.255.114.7 85.255.112.174

I have removed this on a couple of occasions and it only returns a few minutes later.

Help please!!!

Memory corruption caused by an unknown driver. Please run memtest and driver verifier.

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program.

Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Spyware authors and phishing fraudsters yanked an old scam out of the playbook Wednesday by directing malicious code at Internet users who may be prone to typing or spelling deficiencies, according to security researchers.

Finnish security firm F-Secure said they discovered an attack aimed at Web surfers attempting to land on Google's (Quote, Chart) homepage, but who may have mistyped the Web address.

Internet users who punch in "Googkle.com" are treated to a host malicious code, as the computer gets slammed with a heap of the unwanted software that is automatically downloaded and installed. The malware includes: Trojan droppers, Trojan downloaders, backdoors, a proxy Trojan and a spying Trojan. A few adware-related files are also installed, the firm said.

Is there a way to tell Microsoft Word to "guess" what I mean every time I make a typo? For example, I type "tsanding," and instead of changing it to "standing," it underlines it red. I know I can then right-click it, and select AutoCorrect > standing, so that, from now on, if the same exact typo arises in the future, in which I accidentally type "tsanding," it'll change it to "standing." I've thus far collected *hundreds* of specific typo corrections in this way. But that's very time-consuming, and is only a weak attempt at preventing typos I may be likely to make in the future (based on the fact that I made the exact typo at least once before). Is there any way to establish that I want Microsoft Word to go ahead and correct every single "underlined red" occurrence from now on, based on its best guess as to what I meant? (except in cases where the typo was so bad that it has no guess at all) That way, when it corrects something I *didn't* want corrected, I can then go back and add what I wanted to its dictionary, to tell it not to consider that word an accident from then on.

Answer:Is there a way to tell Microsoft Word to "guess" what I mean every time I make a typo?

Found this in the Word Help files. On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options. In the Replace box, type a word or phrase that you often mistype or misspell ? for example, type usualy. In the With box, type the correct spelling of the word ? for example, type usually. Click Add. Is this what you're talking about?

At first I was pissed at eBay because now I had to record of the transaction in my eBay account and could not contact the seller directly from within the item invoice, since eBay deleted. Plus, he had several other sells of this same item, all with positive feedback of the W7 package, and eBay did not remove the listings for them. So I was like, why me? Luckily, I had his email from paypal and contacted him. He assured me that he is the legal owner of the item and that he sent proof to eBay saying so. Still never got my records back.

Anyway, this prompted me to search counterfeit Windows 7 retail packages. I found some interesting info, but my package doesn't fit any of the counterfeit profiles Microsoft says to look out for. The top hologram is built onto the cds, no... Read more

Answer:My Windows 7 copy looks counterfeit. Typo on back cover. Came from China (eBay). Pics

It's fake, that's pretty obvious. The hologram thing is most likely a sticker on top of the actual disc surface - you can use a fingernail or razor blade at the very edge and lift it up a bit, that's 100% proof. The part numbers don't seem to match up with the actual Windows 7 Ultimate part number, and it just has a fake quality all the way around.

If you contact Microsoft, show them the pics, explain where you bought it from and your situation, there is a small - small but it exists - chance they'll provide you with a key just for making the report and identifying the seller you got it from.

No guarantees, but at the moment you're better off reporting it to them and going from there. Sure can't hurt to let them know, either way.

I'd report it, personally, without even really thinking about it. It just SCREAMS fake.

I have T61, 1440 x 900, Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family, driver date 15.2.2008, versio 6.14.10.4926 Probelm is with Excel, when I have two excel files open at the same time and jump between files with Ctrl + Tab, lines can disappear from excel sheet at the screen, they are blank. When I jump to other excel file and back, then lines are there. Same kind of problem is also with one browser based system, it is document handling system, and when I move mouse over headlines and file names, those lines will go over each other and get stuck. When I jump to some other program and then back to the web page, everything is ok. Same thing is with external screen. Mother board has been changed. Any hints?

Answer:Problem with Thinkpad T61 screen, lines disappearing and lines smetimes get stuck

This is more of a software based problem, what graphics card are you using????

the thing is that The Shop says its for NTL/Virgin Lines Only...
But on the Routers Page on Netgears site it says Smart Wizard« simplifies setup by automatically detecting and configuring your router for virtually all ISP connections

Hi,how can I auto number lines in Excel 2010, only with text in the second column, see example:1. abcd blank blank2. efghi3. jklmn

Answer:autonumber lines but skip blank lines

Not completely sure what you want, but try this:If your data look like this:
A B
1) 1 abcd
2) 2 efgh
3) 3 ijkl
4)
5) 4 mnop
6) 5 qrst
7)
8) 6 uvwx

First in cell A1, you must start the sequence by manually entering the number 1Next in cell A2 enter the formula:=IF(ISTEXT(B2),MAX($A$1:$A1)+1,"")Next drag the formula down as many cells as needed.See how that works.MIKEhttp://www.skeptic.com/

Question: DSL...Two lines.

Okay,
I currently have my business line duplicated so that when I'm not at the office, it will ring at the house. It's not a redirect I have it with Bellsouth so that it is the same phone number, the same line, the same everything. Now, I'm thinking of getting DSL for the office. I was wondering if I got the DSL for the office, if I would be able to get the signal and such for the DSL over at my home?

Is this possible or just wishful thinking?

Thanks for any help in advance.

-Steven

Answer:DSL...Two lines.

You are going to need 2 dsl accounts. One for each office.

I have just had the most bizarre experience, because, against my better judgement and basic common sense, I rang the PCWorld 'Helpline'..!!!!!!... The problem is simple enough, I have a hardware or software problem on a new pc, which makes it impossible to boot up....,so I tried the so called 'Recovery Disk', which quickly turned out to have errors itself! ...so, instead of simply taking the thing back to the shop as any normal person would do, I foolishly paid about two pounds at National rate for the priviledge of being told to hold on for about ten minutes, and then, after telling everything, was told that unless I allowed this guy to do a 'diganostic test' on the phone, they would NOT send an engineer to fix my pc. Since the pc was not making any sound, I found that suggestion somewhat of a *[email protected]:take, so the crap goes back to PCWorld tomorrow, and NEVER will I be daft enough to spend money on a 'helpline' again. Have a nice day.

If someone could look at these 2 lines and tell me if they are keepers I would appreciate it. I've looked at the rest of the HJT log and recognize the other entries as "ok". I'm not sure what these 2 things are. BTW I'm running win98.

Answer:Just 2 Lines...hjt

Hi Connie,

Most HJT/Spyware Forums have you remove those items as they are considered mild spyware.

Personally, I have always tended to leave them alone in my fixes - There are worse things out there! Plus, a lot of people never use this and, therefore, are not "spied" upon.

As far as I am concerned, it is a "Personal Preference" type of thing . . . .

Hope your compy is still running OK since last we cleaned it!

Question: SIP vs PRI Lines

Ok, so this is for the telcom/VOIP/sysadm folks...

Does anyone have either SIP of PRI lines at your place of business?

Are there any Pro's/Con's of using one over the other?

I've heard (granted, from a salesman) that SIP is the new thing...are there any growing pains associate with going with this technology rather than the "tried and true" PRI lines?

I'm in the final stages of making a decision on a new VOIP system for my company, and knowing whether we want SIP or PRI will make a marginal difference in the cost of these systems...so I'm just trying to get some input.

About our system: 70 phones, 2 cities, 3 offices. Will have 2 chassis (one in each city) with fail/roll-over capabilities. Would like to keep our present DID's. Presently on a trunked T1 with multiple dedicated analog lines (faxes etc).

Any info would be appreciated.

Answer:SIP vs PRI Lines

SIP is just a way of doing VoIP, it doesn't really explain how the phone co will be delivering it to you. PRIs, on the other hand, are pretty descriptive.

For my money, I will always go with copper to the phone company. Tried and true, and SLAs are nice nice things. PRI all the way.

Question: ati red lines

Im having problems with my ati x850xt, my computer randomly crashed one day in the middle of cs. It was not caused by overheating or from a power surge, i rebooted and i know have little white lines on my windows loading screen and have faint red lines on my desktop.

In the device manager it does not recongnize my video card in the device manager, and anytime i try to install the hardware i get numerous errors, but the result is always the same, unable to install software

ive tried driver cleaner and reinstalling new copies of software but its pointless because the hardware is not unstalled =\

the part that confuses me is it lets me change my resolution to 1280x1024 but just shows faint red streaks only on dark colors (black blue green) http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y50/joTaz/?action=view&current=vid.jpg&refPage=&imgAnch=imgAnch1

i might be able to RMA it since i ordered it from newegg a number of months ago but wanted to see if there was any simple fixes before im out of a computer for a week.

RMA the card. Everything points towards that.

You could check them and then "Fix Selected" (with all browser windows closed), but I strongly suggest you take this up at the Spyware Forum as they are the experts.

If you are just doing maintenance, then Spybot and Adaware are both very good.

Again, read the stickies in the Spyware Forum for more info and recommendations.

I had just done a log and my question is what are the 2 entries listed in lines R0 and R1. Seems to me that these may not be right.

I do use WinPatrol, which locks in my 'local host' file. It does work, but this does seem to be a bit strange.

I had removed CWW Shredder from my puter last week (kids) and was wondering if this may be left over as well.

BUt let me know if there is something that needs to be done here.

Here is a copy of my host file from WinPatrol :

# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.

# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.

# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.

# For example:

Question: lines on webpage

after constant crashing and checking the helproom i cleaned my tower, boy did it need it.now 3 weeks later im getting vertical lines on webpages.yellow on white, blue on green etc.right now i have 4 vertical bands that look a cross between a barcode and a printed circuit board.in tv mode the screen is a mass of white dots.it is a 5 yr old medion comp and i fear the worst. am i right?

Answer:lines on webpage

If display was okay before you cleaned/vacuumed the inside of tower then it is probably dust particles or cabling causing the prob.things to try:1. take out the cables and re-insert them firmly2. a different monitor to see if it the monitor that has the fault or if it is the graphics card in tower3. take out graphics card if you have one (as opposed to onboard) and clean any specs of dust from contacts (do not touch with fingers the gold pin contacts) and the slot it goes into.4. make sure the graphics card is properly seated in its slot. The usual way to clean is to use a clean paintbrush and holding a vacuum cleaner near (not touching any parts) to suck up the dust you have disturbed but everybody has their own favourite way.

Question: Lines on screen

Hello,
Just recently on my desktop, and in some applications there are faint green lines on the desktop. My monitor does not have dead pixels, because when the bios starts there are no defects. I recently installed hl2, and was getting an error. On some forums it said to run msconfig>>boot.ini>>advanced>>maxmem and then set it to my amount (2048). Then I unchecked it after the install. That is the only change I have recently done on my pc. Please help it is very irritating

I've updated drivers, uninstalled, reinstalled, reseated my video card and all connections. I also think I even restored Windows, thinking its something to do with the video card. hi every1,

recently the back panel on my laptop broke and i had to get it replaced. i took it to a computer store and they fixed it, however now when i get on my laptop it will stay on for a little then the screen glitchs and goes to a black screen with red lines. i took it back to the shop and they looked at it and said that ther were some cords that were not hooked in tightly. they fixed that and i got it back and sometime later that night the lines came back. i've noticed that they appear only when the laptop is hooked up to its adapter, if its not on the charger then its fine. can any1 give me any insight on what the problem might be with my laptop.

thanx for the help

Answer:these lines wont go away

Never ever ever ever ever get a monitor fixed at a local repair shop. They make it so you have to come back again and again to get a tiny problem resolved. If it's still under warranty, RMA it. If not under warranty, get a new LCD, It will save you money, believe me.

hi folks

I recently upgraded my old 9600 GT for something with a little more oomph - a GTX460. my card has been performing swimmingly until recently - ive noticed strange, wavy horizontal lines/flickering on screen in dark areas - particularly in games. this is usually accompanied by whining/buzzing sounds from the card itself. needless to say i'm concerned. I've checked and rechecked the drivers, booted into memtest for a full ram check and contacted the vendor (palit) without any luck. Its not a heat problem as far as i can tell, under stress the card hits about 61C maximum.

any ideas what could be causing this??

Answer:gtx 460 horizontal lines

Put the old card back in and if that works ok then it might be a bad card..

Question: grey lines

i have quite a few grey lines on my monitor, could it be my monitor is on its way out, it's over 3 years old

Answer:grey lines

It's one possibility, spriest. Have you checked the monitor's cables, or updated your graphics card's drivers, lately? Also check that the graphics card is seated properly in it's slot.

i have my own 1 meg ntl cable modem line for personal use. my employer has also agreed to foot the bill for a seperate 512k bt adsl broadband service.

is there a way that i can utilise both of the lines as 1 virtual line.

yes it would be easier to cancel 1 and upgrade the remaining line to higher speed , but this is not an option !!

i am running xp
i seem to remember you could do this sort of thing with multiple isdn lines or something. but can you do it with 2 seperate broadband lines.

i think the fact that 1 is asdl and the other is true cable may pose a problem.

they will both be presented via ethernet cable modems .

i have a spare ethernet hub if the potential "virtual" joining is easier to do at the switch level rather than in software at the pc itself, through some sort of windows sharing.
any help appreciated

Answer:using 2 broadband lines as 1 ??

There are routers that will combine two ISP lines and split the load, but they're not the normal $50 SOHO routers. Here's one for $249 at Eagle Computer. http://www.saveateagle.com/xinxctwinwan.html

Answer:Printing out whole lines

I've received an e-mail with a piece from an Irish newspaper. When I printed it out, I lost some words of the line. I adjusted the margin, file > page set up, to zero, which worked for an American paper but still it won't take it. I've thought of forwarding it to myself and adjusting each line length (would that work?)but can anyone please tell me the best way to get this on A4 paper.

I am beginning to think that the graphics card is shot. Does anyone have any ideas? I have already tried re-downloading the drivers and actually reseating the card. I've also checked my monitor connections and everything is fine.

Thank you

Will my broadband be quicker? BT having been refused access to the rear of my property by my neighbours have offered to reroute my BT lines. Currently they come in at the back of the house to a phone socket. That feeds my broadband socket but the wires must be about several metres long as they go through the roof. Then we feed from the broadband through to the Sky socket. BT want to put a new line to the broadband socket, will this increase our speed, and is it liable to affect anything else? Sorry if this doesn't seem PC based but I'm sure someone can offer advice as I don't want to affect our broadband. Many thanks

Answer:BT lines and broadband

If the proposed new line is shorter than the current one before it gets to your PC and because the new line will be "new" (that is, not old and knackered copper), you MIGHT see as light increase in speed but probably nothing to get excited about.

Hi to all,

I have a PDF file (FreeBSD Handbook). I want to print it in paper (A4 size) and read it because reading it from screen hurts my eyes. My problem is that the lines are very tiny and long. If I print the pages in A4 size the lines/words will not be readable. If you look at the picture below you find out my problem. The solution in my mind is to somehow cut the lines and then print the lines in a bigger size. This way, the context will fit into the size of A4 paper and also readable. Is anyone aware of a tool or way to do that solution?

Thanks.

Answer:How to cut the lines of a pdf file

You might try PDF Xchange Editor. It's free. Only thing is the online help seems a bit broken.

Question: HELP pink lines

I have a Philips HEPC-7511 desktop PC I have a bit of a problem explained below. It?s a bit long winded but explains everything any help would be much appreciated

I was playing pes6 when all of a sudden it froze and made this weird buzzing sound and in the screen it looked like every other pixel was pink. So I left it to see if it would unfreeze but it didn?t so I switched it off at the plug. Then I turned it on again and normally you get a white screen with Phillips written in the middle this time I got the same screen but with a few pink vertical lines down the screen, then it says do you want to start windows normally or some other options I went start normally and you get the usual screen with the bar running across it and that?s all it does and restarts. So next time I went for find problem and restore to last good time it didn?t do nothing, so went into safe mode no pink lines anywhere to be seen saved everything I wanted and got out, then I did a destructive install which deletes everything ( which was okay coz I saved everything I needed on my external hard drive). Then I installed windows from a CD and did repair the cpu restarted with no pink lines on the white startup screen ( it looked normal) windows then went about installing normally, baring in mind the resolution looked like 800X600 rather then the normal 1280x1024. The installation got to a point where you put your name and password in at this point the resolution corrected it self to the normal 1280x1024... Read more

Answer:HELP pink lines

This sounds like the graphics card is dieing, I am assuming that you are using the most recent drivers.

But if people have already sujested to that it is the graphics card. You need to understand there is not going to be any magic setting or button you push that is doing to fix it. Computer components die, its fact.

i figured if i just purchased another monitor these vertical lines will go away. also, i updated my ATI Radeon drivers and that too isn't working that much. what could cause this all of a sudden?

i run an antivirus (BitDefender) and spyware (Spyware Doctor) in the background. so i'm assuming it can't me anything malicious. could it be my graphics card? this Dell PC is about 3-4 yrs old.

Could it also be that it may need another Ram chip. currently i'm running 512mb Ram along w/ two hard drives (200GB and 300 Gb) for storage. i had defrag my drives not too long ago so i might do that, hopefully that can make a difference

if you have any ideas please let me know. thx.

Question: hoizontal lines

When starting windows7, horizontal lines cover the entire screen. I have to shut down the computer and restart to correct this, sometimes several times.

Answer:hoizontal lines

Hello Nancy and welcome to Seven Forums.

It would be very helpful if you could provide some information about your computer. At the top of any Forum page, click on "User CP". Then in the left column click on "Edit System Spec". Fill in as much information as you can, especially the manufacturer, model and whether it's a desktop or laptop.

From what you've described those horizontal lines could be a bad graphics card, a bad monitor/screen, a driver problem, etc. That's why it will help to know what kind of computer you have.

In the meantime, try starting your computer in Safe Mode by accessing the Advanced Boot Options menu.

Safe Mode

See if those horizontal lines still appear. If they don't you could try rolling back your computer to an earlier date/time (prior to when this problem first appeared) by using a system restore point.

System Restore

You could also go through these troubleshooting guides. They'll help isolate if this is a software problem or a hardware problem.

Question: monitor lines

Im having trouble with lines at the top of my monitor. If i move one of the cables on the back of the monitor the lines go away. Seems to be something lose behind the cord inside the monitor.? Is this an easy fix or should i consider buying a new monitor? thx people.

Answer:monitor lines

Sounds like a loose connection. First thing to do would be to make sure the monitor cord (I assume this is what you are moving?) is securely connected.

If that doesn't work, disconnect the cord from the PC end (you shouldn't, as far as I'm aware, be able to disconnect it on the monitor side. If you are there's something terribly wrong ) and check that there are no bent pins or anything of that sort.

Question: lines on monitor

Hi I have a Gateway desktop that's a few years old. Recently we have been getting these multi-colored lines on the screen & have to shut down. After a few minutes we restart & it may be alright for awhile. Today it happened several times (& we are not playing any games - internet & personal use only) each time it does this the lines are a different color than before and they are diagonal on the screen. Could this be the video card? Please help getting very frustrated with it!Thanks

Answer:lines on monitor

It certainly could be the video card. It could also be the monitor so an easy test would be to try a different one. A failing power supply is also a possibility.
