Preferred Solution: Just a question about pricing

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I got a buddy and hes getting rid of his 802.11B router setup WIRELESS and upgrading to a G setup...

its the Router, PCI card for a PC, a USB card for another PC, and then a .. Card for a Laptop..

Im going to be getting this for 40 bucks... is that a decent price?

all of the setup is NETGEAR, thats pretty much all he told me.

he said when he bought it the router alone was 100 dollars :/ that it was the top of the line at the time.

Any idea if i should go for a little lower price?

and also... are there "networking kits" that include 2 PCI cards so i dont have to piece it together if I did want to upgrade to a G router etc?

thanks alot guys appreciate the help

Answer:Quick question about pricing Router set up.

I am assuming all the cards you mentioned wireless?

...sounds like a good deal to me...but please know that transfer rates with wireless-B are significantly slower that with wireless-G...but if that is a price you are willing to pay, sure...sounds good.

This is not a tech support question, but I hope the answer may be useful to others in a similar situation.
I am new at creating databases for clients. I have created a database for one client and they are referring another client that is going to be using the database for the same purpose. Although I am sure there will be enhancements that need to be made, it will basically be the same database. I have put in far more hours than my original quote reflects for the first client. Should I offer the second client that database for the same price as the first? Obviously there won't be as many hours dedicated to the second. If I charged them any less it doesn’t seem fair to the first client. I was just wondering if there is an industry standard for this type of transaction. Is that the reason you can offer the same database to so many clients for the same price, because you dedicate so much time up front and then hope to resell to recoup?
Thanks in advance for your input!

I am living in UK.
I do have two computers, running Windows XP and Vista.
I wish to buy a family pack for clean installation on both. But I cannot see an option to buy Windows 7 Family pack Home Premium for full installation. I found only family pack for upgrade.
I play a lot with computer and I may crash the whole system, so I like full installation on all computers so that I can reinstall from scratch.

Thank you for advice.

Answer:Question about pricing and family pack

You can do a clean install no problems the first time you use an upgrade disk.. Just be sure you use imaging software to create a disk image in case you bork your system...

Question: Ram Pricing ?

Im just wondering why these two sticks of ram are so different
in price. They are both the same except for a difference of 512
megs but the price differs by $150. Im just curious.........
kingtson 512MB===$55.01
Kingston 1GB===$206

Answer:Ram Pricing ?

First of all, this is computers. The more you have, the more expensive it'll get per increase. The bigger you get, the price increases exponentionally. Like of couse 1gig will not be double the price of 512, cauze then under the same logic i'd go buy 2gb ram for 4x the price of 512. But wait, 256 mb, is cheaper, so why don't i just buy 2 gigs of ram for 8x w/e 256 mb cost?

Anyways, that won't make up for 100% of the cost. I think that the qualitiy of the ram varies. So the 1 gig of ram is higher qulity than the 512 ram.

Question: Pricing up a Job

If you are just starting out and dont know much about pricing a job, how do you get a good figure a client, and you are happy with??

for example...

networking 6 machines in 6 different rooms to a hub then router to allow internet access.
settting up 6 logins and a small file server.

is there anywhere that gives a guide or indication of charging prices for general contract jobs?

Answer:Pricing up a Job

I think pricing depends on alot of things.

1. The Area, where I live I charge $30.00 per hour, people think that's alot around here but if I was in Denver charging the same people would think that was cheap.

2. Experience, when I get a new tech on my staff we don't charge as much on his jobs because it's kind of a given that he is going to have some problems at first. After a month or 2 of doing work we raise him up to the standard rate. I don't feel it's fair to make the customer pay the same rate to have somebody who's new to the business. Either cut the rate or charge them for less time than it actually took.

Networking machines can sometimes be hard, if pulling the cable is going to be a pain in the ass then I usually charge more than if they have say a drop ceiling through the whole building or raised floor.

First I figure out what materials I would need, price them out, walk the cable run's and get a general idea of how much cable I need. If the machines are all the same and an Operating System that I know shouldn't give me much trouble (Windows 2000 and up). Depending on what all they need on the file server. Usually I figure 2 to 5 hours to configure a basic server, get all the hardware, software configured, add users, setup shares. Sure it usually doesn't always take that long but I would rather bid a little high and come in low as opposed to having to go back and charge more...customers really dont' like that.

This is getting crazy. We are less than 6 weeks from D-Day (Oct. 26) and we do not have pricing on a single Windows 8 device. This was not a big deal on past Windows launches as price were expected to stay the same because the products were mostly the same. But with Windows 8 we are expecting one new product category (ARM devices) and two greatly expanded product lines (Hi power Core iX series tablets/convertables and low power Atom/AMD powered tablets/convetables). We are so close to launch date that companies will have had to roll into production mode already for launch devices in order to build up an inventory and get devices shipped to their destination stores. The Best Buys and Amazons and the like will have already placed orders for launch devices, and would have needed to know MSRP to make ordering desicions. So why keep the consumer in the dark? Why not make some announcements and let the marketing machine begin to build up some hype. There are a large number of people that don't follow technology news that that don't even know a new version of Windows is about to launch.

Answer:Can we get some pricing already?

I have seen loads of stories since Microsoft announced the pricing for Windows 7 last week and I've read several stories that seem to conflict with each other. The main conflict seem to be over the "No upgrade in Europe" thing. I currently have a machine running Windows 7 RC that was originally a Vista PC.

Can some explain to me what the options (e.g. what price) will be to upgrade this computer Windows 7 Home Premium once the full version is released in October.

Also, apart from that, will I be able to "in place" upgrade from Windows 7 RC to Windows 7 release? (e.g. upgrade instead of wipe and install???)

For those awaiting the imminent arrival of AMD's Vishera (aka Piledriver, aka Bulldozer rev.2, aka Bulldozer rev. C0), HotHardware have published pricing via

If AMD's strategy is consistant with the previous Bulldozer release, then pricing indicates the parts' relative performance merits in relation to Intel's current mainstream CPU range.
At $US 253, the FX-8350 launches at approximately the same price as its predecessor - FX-8150 MSRP at launch being $245. AMD seem to have noted that the FX-8120 took a sizeable chunk of the 8150's possible sales, being some $40 cheaper but offering comparable performance. AMD aren't being nearly so generous this time around.
Launch is rumoured to be October 18

Question: Pricing proposals

I have a client that is in need of some upgrades with the current system that they are working with. This client has recently discovered a virus that has created some problems with his programs. His current environment consists of 4 personal computers with internet capabilities on 2 pc's, 1 scanner, 1 laser jet printer, 1 cadjet 2 plotter, and 1 hub for networking, windows 98, and microsoft office 97. I will provide for this client a backup tape unit for offsite storage. Anti-virus software for all computers, personal firewall for small business, windows 2000 for all pc's, and microsoft office 2000 for all pc's internet capabilities for all pc's. When providing this type of service for a client, what would you charge a client and how do you arrive at a fair price for your client. As you can tell I am fairly new at providing services for clients and if I do a decent job for this client it could lead to other opportunities for me.

Answer:Pricing proposals

How long is a piece of string?

You should be thinking in terms of % markup on the hardware and software that you are supplying, and as its a lot you can afford to take less % than if it was just a couple of items.

On labour you need to set your hourly rate, then either go with that and give an estimate of the time to the client, (always over-estimate so that when it takes less time the client is happy) or work it out and give a fixed price to the client for a set number of works/jobs.

Make it clear that the set price is for the works specified, and if they add anything else its extra on top at your hourly rate. Otherwise you can come a cropper, as I have never been to a client site yet where they haven't said "Oh, while you are here, can you just...." which will really upset things on a fixed price contract.

Hope that gives you food for thought.

I am in the process of looking for a paid for OEM for 10 Pro as I want to keep my 7 Pro key and buying one of those is just as expensive according to my local dealer - $209 + p&p which is pretty good.

Now I am also thinking at the same time what sort of mark up these dealers make over what they but the software in for resale as soem EBay sellers for example (not that I would buy from them) are offering the key but no DVD for s little as $120. So in my mind making say even a 25% mark up on what sellers pay Microsoft for what exactly do Microsoft produce their software for??

Answer:Just wondering re pricing

It probably depends upon how many OEM licenses they purchase at one time, but I don't know for sure. It violates Microsoft licensing agreement to use OEM system builders licenses for personal use on computers that you are not building to sell (except for Windows 8.0).

I have a client who is looking for between 50-100 off-lease (used) LCD monitors for export in decent condition (minor scratches on case/base OK but screens in good condition).

Having never shopped for such a large quantity before, I'm curious if anyone has experience on what decent wholesale pricing should be. As of now, the lowest I've found for a bulk (50+) order of 19" screens is about $60 each - not that great a deal since I can buy new-in-box 19" units (entry level HP or Dell) in the $90-$100 per unit range.

There are plenty of recycling/used PC vendors in the area - I'm curious if anyone has any pricing experience or negotiating tips for getting a better deal.

(If I buy this quantity, I will test every monitor, verify the power supply is compatible with 220/240 volt use and get a LARGE cash deposit from the client prior to purchasing. )

Thanks in advance for any help or ideas.

Answer:Used LCD monitor pricing?

All depends of the quality of the screens,if they are budget screens for offices or schools I'd shoot lower than $60,ATM that translates into about £40 each over here which is pretty expensive for junk:-D

I'd half the new price twice, about $100 to $50 then half again for bulk so about $30.Most of these whole sale places pick them up for next to nothing from businesses and schools so you can really barter with them, they will usually still make money whatever they sell them for the $60 is BS they know you will knock them down a sheetload.

As for bartering tell them they are junk:-D Remind the guy about the lifespan of the backlight, criticise their storage.Speak to them in person Don't act like you want to buy them, start at $20,lie and say your shopping around for the cheapest deal but don't tell him the price you want beaten when he asks say you rather not say but you'v had multiple offers cheaper than he just said.Pretend your still deciding whether it will be economical to buy them or not.

"Its not gonna be worth me going this route at that price."

Remember your not out shopping for monitors your out seeing if you should be shopping for monitors The further he thinks you are away from buying the more he will bend.

Most of all be light hearted and not serious, jovial. Its much easier say things and get away with them if you laugh after you've said it,people drop their guard when they are happy and having a good time so a... Read more

Hello, I was researching RAM for a build I am planning to buy this Black Friday (Can't wait ) and I noticed that I found some really cheap RAM and I don't know if this is a unreliable pos, or if this is a genuinely good find.

I know that lower CAS latency, higher frequency, and if you want your computer to run cooler, a lower voltage will make for nice ram.

This is the RAM I came across: - Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model BLS2KIT4G3D1609DS1S00

For the most part (85%) of the reviews are 5 eggs, and it is $10 off with a promo code. Is there any reason I shouldn't buy these?

Also, I am going to be getting the Sabertooth Z77 motherboard and an i7 3770 and I was curious if anyone could tell me if this RAM is compatible with my planned setup.

Answer:Curious about RAM pricing...

Well depends on what you are going to use for the new build but the other RAM looks ok for what you have now.

Oh meant to mention if you idn't now turn of the defrag you don't need it with the SSD. Plus take a look at this if you already haven't - more speed.

Question: BT Pricing Policy

I have had line rental from BT on the same number for over 20 years and BT has been my ISP since the days when dial-up was the only option. I have had broadband from them since the maximum speed available was 512kbs. Because this has happened gradually over the years, my broadband (option 2) is being charged as if it were a stand-alone service at £20.50 per month, whereas (ignoring introductory offers) a new customer taking the same services as I have would pay £18 per month for the broadband. I am about to take the issue up with BT, but was wondering whether anyone else had been in the same situation and what the result was.

Answer:BT Pricing Policy

They are open on the phone to haggling, or it seems like it at the time!
Heavy hint that if they cannot do better you will move elsewhere.
The best you can hope for is one of their bargain contracts which must last a year to avoid penalties. I asked for another £3 less per month (nearly a year ago). No they couldn't do that but would give me a £36 discount at the start.
I still feel like someone who has "missed the boat" but I'm not sure quite how.
The service has been good and snag free. If you haven't had a shiney Home Hub yet, you will have one thrown in. "No" I couldn't have another chunk off instead of a second hub. They still sent me another hub anyway!

Question: 4GB memory pricing

The configurator for the W520 shows a delta price of $160 to add 4gb of memory to the base 4gb. The price of additonal memory on the accessory site is $62! P/N 55Y3711  PC3-10600 DDR3-1333 DDR3 SODIMM . What's up with this? Looks like a $100 error in the configured price. Anyone else see this?

Answer:4GB memory pricing

Doubt there is a mistake. It's all marketing and profit. Most people who are not necessarily hardware savvy will pay the extra money (often without knowing the price difference) to get the amount of RAM they want.I ordered my W510 with a base single 4GB module purposely, and added the "accessory" 4GB model in the same order and installed it myself for 8GB total, but with a large savings for installing it myself. I even called to ask Lenovo at the time of order if they would install the extra module during build, but they of course would not ;-)

Hi all . I'm a CPU/network tech with NO experiece in programing. My largest client needs aninventory control rogram, but they're quite set in thier ways of how they like everything to look, act, function, etc. I'd like to hire out an access programmer for them, and they've inquired as to what the cost of such a service might be. Before I go a "rent a coder" or any of that, I was wondering if you guys who do programming for aliving had a ballpark figure. It's simply inventory control, that needs the ability for laymen to add, remove, or "Rent" parts into and out of inventory. (also invoicing, as the parts have rental prices).

I hate to ask what might be a "dumb question," but when you don't know the price of goods, you can get taken to the cleaners. I also am quite aware works-for-hire prices vary, but a general idea would be a great benifit. $200? $500? $1000? $5000? $10,000?

Thanks again : )

During the last months I have purchased two models Yoga 700 11". I am absolutely excited about the device and its capabilities and performance: great display (Full Hd + touch screen), high performance (Intel m3), fast boot times and data access (256 Gb SSD), long standby and operation times (due to low/optimized power consumtion - Intel m).For a short period this model was available for 499? in Germany and I made the deal! In my view this is a phenomenal value for price ratio. And there is nothing comparable available at competition! Unfortunately Lenovo product managers realized this fact too. So the pahsed out the models of Yoga 700 and replaced by the new model named Yoga 710. In terms of features it is more or less the same (less I/O but metal case).BUT: prices start at 789? now (699$ in the US) !!! I think it would have a great opportunity for Lenovo to place a top seller with the previous model and pricing of Yoga 700.

Answer:X1 Carbon rediculous pricing

they adjusted their base pricing, so i don't have a problem with it not being included as some people will have no use for it. however, the difference in cost is very concerning. i asked a rep about this and was told that it was because a different internal component was used for the i7 model, which does not sound very believable to me...

Many of you will recall that I promised to try to speak to a senior Microsoft person about the pricing anomaly for Vista - we have to pay substantially more here, in the UK than our American counterparts.I asked the Microsoft Press Office to find someone with the authority to speak to me on the record about the reasons for the differential. Let me say at this point that the MS Press Office is always extremely helpful to me. Over the years I've asked for (and received) all kinds of help on all kinds of issues, and as far as I'm concerned our working relationship has been excellent. All of which meant that I was more than a little surprised when - over two weeks after making the request - I received the following response:-"Hi Peter,Just a quick mail to let you know that unfortunately, I will not be able to provide a spokesperson for interview, as per your request. We don?t have anyone available who is well versed on this topic to speak to you within your deadline.Apologies for any inconvenience that this may cause."The world's largest software company doesn't have anyone who is well versed on this topic? Forgive me Microsoft, but I find that a little hard to believe. I think the truth is that they don't have anyone who is prepared to talk to me on this subject, and that's a little diappointing, to say the least.

Answer:Vista pricing - update

That is disappointing, and rather surprising: I've always been impressed by the Microsoft press office.I raised the subject of differential pricing with Adobe when I had lunch with them the other day and they were much more forthcoming. They talked at length and in detail about how, for example, they have the same sized marketing team covering (I think) Ireland as they do the whole US; the fact that they produce their packaging in Europe where production costs are higher; the need to hedge against currency movements; different tax regimes in different European countries, the fragmented nature of European economies - it all made a lot of sense. I didn't feel patronised and I didn't feel that they were avoiding the issue: quite the contrary, they were seeking to explain it to me and I came away feeling as though actually, the price difference was largely justified.

I was digging through my closet the other day and found a spool of Fiber Optic line that my old school's administrator had offloaded onto me.

The connector on each end is marked as Siemens (see attached pictures for better descriptions.

On the cable, there's : Berk-Tek Optical Fiber Cable 62.5/125 - ICP002 -- FDDI/ATM TYPE OFNP (UL) -- OFN-FT6 (UL) 75c 05/97 216528 feet marked on it.

Now I'm well aware that it's probably difficult to just say "Oh, you've X ft of cable," but does anyone know of an effective way to measure fiber lengths without damaging the cable [and] connectors?

Also, does anyone know of a rough guesstimate of what this grade fiber goes for?

Thanks in advance.

(Pictures can be located at:

Answer:Cable Lenth, Pricing, Etc...

If you don't want to unroll it all and physicall measure the length then there are devices that use time domain reflectometry or something that can measure it for you. Basically you hook something up to both ends, one end sends a signal down the fiber, it shoots back down, and the device measures how long it took for the signal to return, and from that it computes the length of the fiber. I have no idea what that cable is worth, though.

Ok, I work as a programmer, and virtually everything I do is web application programming in ASP, .NET, etc...

Anyhow, I want to start moonlighting, but oddly my stumbling block isn't so much finding customers, it's knowing what to charge, and how to break it down for them.

Yes, I can tell someone it will $800 (or whatever), but I want to show them how I come to that price, or why it's a good price, because it's cheaper than if they paid for all the things I'd do individually.

Basically, I'm currently just looking for design websites that show what they charge for each of their services, and how they break down everything.

If you are a web designer, can you let me know how you break down your bill, or if you've had work done, let me know how you were charged. Or if you're bored and want to do a little surfing and see what you can come up with

It would help immensely.

I'm looking to buy a laptop within the next few months, but I would like to get the best possible performance at the least cost (perhaps an obvious desire).

Does anyone know of a resource that has a record of various laptop prices for the past few years?

I could use such a list to examine how quickly the performance-price ratio (if such a phrase exists) has increased over time, and then use this information to estimate when might be the best time to buy my laptop.

And as a side question, can anyone predict how much longer DVD drives will be standard in laptops? Can I expect them to stick around for a few more years before being replaced by blu-ray drives or whatever?

Answer:Laptop Pricing History?

There might be something new that's coming out in 2 months. Prices fluctuate. What may be $1,000 6 months ago, could be down to $850 by now. Don't worry about what the greatest next thing is. Technology grows.

Look at Mobile CPU charts. That is your best bet as far as performance. Mobile GPUs as well.

No one can say how long they will be a norm. Let the companies figure that out. You can replace a Blu-ray drive later. They use the same connection.

I have Norton Internet Security 2013 for three PC's. This is due for renewal in August. Symantec have kindly offered me a subscription renewal of ONLY £44.99. Their website offers the item NEW for £39.99. It also can be obtained at varying prices with Amazon offering it at £21.28.
I have been aware of this sort of discrepancy for a number of years, but what is the logic behind the Pricing?

Answer:NIS 2013 - Pricing logic??

To the average consumer, there is no logic, but to a marketing team there is, because it all comes down to what the consumer will bear or put up with.
On the product you have quoted, you are correct in the different price changes, because it doesn't take al that long for a 'savvy' shopper to find the best price on the day. One thing that I do notice on a very regular basis, is that the manufacturer cannot or will not compete with retailer's on their own products. And some people consider that going direct to the manufacturer offers the best product and service, when in reality it doesn't.
Perhaps going further with this issue, you don't need to look further that the USA and see how some of their prices for the same product are very different to here in the UK. We often hear that the relevant bodies are looking into this, but so far, very little evidence of price equality seems to have taken place.

From what I can gather there are 4 versions of windows 8:

* Regular - not for sale, only manufacturer pre-installed.

* Pro - For sale in computer supply stores, An upgrade from previous such as W7, Vista, XP.

* Pro - that will only enhance "regular" to Pro.

* RT - only for tablets, notebooks and such devices, manufacturer installed. A reduced version without some Pro features.

* W8 - Enterprise, Commercial, not for sale to the general public, only for corporations and government.

* W8 Pro upgrade. Windows has it on the Internet as a download for $39.99. The offer expires at the end of December 2012.

* W8 Pro upgrade from W7, Vista, XP, for sale in computer stores, Costco, Best Buy, Staples, CompUSA. Costco's price is $66.99. The others are $69.99.

* Windows Pro only for existing Win 8 regular already installed. Thus the regular manufacturer version is upgraded to Pro for $69.99. *( That would be actually a value of $69.99 plus &69.99 - $139.98 ).

The Windows Pro at Staples has on the price tag: "Retail price $199, $130 off. Offer expires February 2013.

So anyone who is contemplation purchasing a Windows Pro should be aware of/about the coming price increases. Looks as though in March 2013 it will cost everyone $199 so far as I can ascertain now.

Apparently installing Win 8 to upgrade Vista and XP will require re-installing all current software presently on the computer whereas a Win 7 will not.

Hi all,           I've been waiting for the release for the S430 for ages and I've just seen that it's finally up on the Lenovo website to purchase for Ireland. However, I'm a little disappointed because the price is 969Euro for the cheapest model. Previous indiciations would be that it would be around the 800Euro mark and I've seen a link somebody else posted for German website (don't ship to Ireland) where it costs 769Euro. Therefore it seems over priced compared to previous indiciations. Questions I have are1) Is the Lenovo website generally more expensive that other online retailers?2) How frequently or do Lenovo ever offer substanial discounts on their online offering?3) Does anyone know if the S430 will be released to online retailers and if so, how soon after a release does this normally happen4) Is there any online sites that people would recommend for me to keep watching that offer cheaper prices but reliable customer service and ship to Ireland Thanks in advanceShane

I'm trying to understand all of these pricing changes with Rapidshare. I initially had a premium account and I guess the remainder of that time has now been converted into Rapids. I was on the Rapid Medium plan at first which cost me 20 Rapids per day, gave me 50 GB's of storage and allowed me 5 GB's of traffic per day. First of all...What does that mean with 5 GB's of allowed traffic per day. Does that mean I can download up to 5 GB's of data per day? Also, am I charged the 20 Rapids every day, even if I don't download or upload anything?

Also, for some reason, today I received an email from Rapidshare which said that it was bumping me up to the Rapid Big plan, though I don't know why because I don't believe I went over the 5 GB's of allowed traffic in the Rapid Medium plan. So just for the heck of it I went back into my account and changed it back to Rapid Medium.

Also I'm not sure I understand what's currently in my account. I accessed my account earlier today to try to get a read on things. It was still listed as a Rapid Big account and showed that I had 3582 Rapids. I don't even know if that's a large amount or not. It also said I had 13,065 MB traffic left. I'm not sure what that means either. Is that how much left I can download before I have to buy more Rapids?

Then I did some downloading after that, and after finishing, checked my account again. It still showed that I had 3582 Rapids but my traf... Read more

Based on the history of past windows OS's, is it possible to estimate how much cheaper the full versions of Windows 7 would be after a year? Specifically the professional or ultimate versions?

I'm using XP Pro and I'm very comfortable with it and don't feel like I need a new OS just because it's new and has the latest bells and whistles. My 2 factors for deciding to upgrade depend on price and future OS plans from Microsoft.

For price considerations, I can get the full version of Win 7 Professional for $100. Should I wait to upgrade to Win 7 professional to see if prices will get better, or is this already a price that even waiting won't beat?

As for future OS's, is it worth it to get 7 if Microsoft is going to come out with a new one in several years? How long do you think 7 is going to last? XP's had a very long lifespan, so if it's going to be anything like that, I would consider upgrading. But if not, maybe I can hold on to XP for a few more years for the next OS.

Given these 2 factors, any recommendations?

I started with a pre-beat version in Dec 2008, then all the differenet versions to the retail release. Win7 will have a long productive lifespan. $ 100 is a good price at the present time. Try it, you'll like it.

I am sorry to hear that you are having problems connecting to your new router. Have you tried another network outside of your house to see if it connects? If it is able to connect to other networks then it would show us that the hardware is working. At that point then problem may be a configuration or limitation of the router.

I am trying to create a pricing sheet so when I use a combo box (which has all the drop down menus I would like to choose from) so that when I pick one of the products from first combo box then choose another option from second combo box it results in the proper pricing. I have created a table which i coded all products 1-40. The headings of the table are: Code, Product, P Group, and Price. So far for the products 1 through 20 that have P Group 1 it works because I'm guessing the P Group has not been integrated in the formula. I would like to make it so that when I change it to P Group 10 the price automatically updates. For example the first formula I used was =IF(H2=D28,G3,0). The cell H2 is the product, D28 is the cell linked to the combo box, G3 is the cell containing the code (first column in table), and the 0 is the value if false. Please help!!!!!

Hi, I was just on Lenovo's shopping website and am wondering why the T430 and T530 both start at exactly the same price (779 USD) with the same hardware. However, the T530 is obviously wider, heavier, and has a larger screen, so one would expect for the T530 to cost slightly more. This makes me wonder: does the T430 have a slighty better and stronger chassis than the T530, or are there any cost cutting methods done on the T530? It simply doesn't make sense to price both at the same starting price when one seems to use more material than the other. Thanks. -Brian

My Thinkpads: T42 (GPU failure), T60, W530W530: Windows 7 Pro | i7-3720qm | FHD screen | 256gb Samsung 840 Pro SSD | 500GB Ultrabay HDD | 16gb Crucial RAM | Nvidia K1000m

Answer:t430 and t530 pricing

The T430 chassis should be on par with the T530 in terms of strength. Cost of laptop is NOT determined by the price of materials used alone, there are also many factors that weighs in. If that was the case then X1 Carbon would be cheaper than a T530, since one weighs less and thus uses less material. Historically, Ultraportable and lighter/more compact machines tend to cost more, since people whom wants portability tend to willing to pay more for weight savings technology, and the ability to take machines for trips. While more heavier machines tend to cost less, since the bulk factors decrease portability, and hence people can always opt for desktops, so they are priced competitively against the desktop machines to make them more appealing price wise. T530 uses the same chassis as the W530, and do you want to find it weak?
Another way to think of the pricing on these machines is that, Lenovo slightly inflated the T430 pricing due to the portability factor, and that the T530 pricing is where you should be paying.

I am also(admittedly this isn't much)

Seems like the full banana version is $450 US.

Answer:Vista Pricing revealed.

That's just a tad more than XP. I haven't seen any functionality in the OS that would make me switch for free either. Is it just me or does that pricing mean that world+dog will be pirating the ultimate version?

Hello, I am student and a thinkpad enthusiast.I was looking at the x1 laptop when it came out in the US, with 1199dollar pricing. To my disappointment I couldnt get it shipped to Finland, so I waited a while until it was released in Europe aswell. However, the pricing is very high for the same laptop: 1650dollars! - 450dollar difference And this is with the same exact parts! With i7, 256gb ssd, QHD (nontouch) screen it's already 2400dollars in Finland! while in the US it's 1870!-650 dollar difference   why such a big difference? I am pretty sad about this, and it forces me to consider a competitors laptop.

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad x1 3rd gen Pricing

I'm not an expert on international pricing, but my guess is that the difference is due to the VAT.

G'day, I've got a tricky Excel spreadsheet to build that lists a big range of product ranges and sub-components and their prices. I would like to use columns with drop-down list of options, which then displays a different range of components depending on the options selected.
It's for a modular kitchen componentry product range.
Basically there are two major ranges. (range A and B)
Each range has about 30 or so cabinet modules, with unique names, reference numbers, descriptions and order numbers.
Each of those modules have a number of components to go with them, offering a chives of about a dozen colours, again with unique pricing etc.
So ideally, I'd like to be able do a global range a or b selection, then pick a module from a list of that ranges modules, and then the appropriate colour doors and drawer fronts.
I'm thinking all thus would occur in a single row, but repeated for multiple modules in multiple rows.
I'm using excel 2007
Any help to get me started in the right direction would be great

Hello, Am looking at P50 and was trying to get some SSD options. Base price with 500GB HDD - $1331.10Price w/o 500GB HDD and with 512GB PCIe-NVMe  - $1655.10 But additional 512GB PCIe-NVMe is $950??Price w/o 500GB HDD and with 1TB PCIe-NVMe - $1812.60 But additional 1TB PCIe-NVMe is $1020?? Does this look right? Also, one cannot choose different capacities of PCIe-NVMe HDD, is that correct? Should I call to place order with rep? Will that get me a better price as well as better customization options? Thanks,

What would be a normal price range for custom software?? Lets say that someone came up to me and wanted me to develop some kind of software for their business. What would I charge them?

And, yes, I know that it would depend upon the complexity of the software. I just wanted to get a general range.

Answer:Pricing for custom software

I don't believe there is any rule of thumb for ball park figures. If you are makign Software as a business then you are going to apply the rules of business for your pricing...
What are your costs for building the software?
What time frame are you looking at?
Are you hoping to make a profit from the software? If so what sort of %age?
What sort of maintenance are you going to offer to do on it?

What sort of alternatives does the potential customer have to you? How much are they prepared to write the software for? Are you going to have to undercut them?

Professional Business Software (especially tailored solutions as opposed to Off The Shelf can be much more costly... I don't think you are going to get a nice figure off us... you have to offset those factors and probably others to determine a cost...

Sorry its a pretty vague answer but your question leaves a lot in the open too.... Hope it helps anyway!

Hello guys, I need help with the price of this D-Link switch:

D-Link DES-2205 Switch
* 4 ports 10BaseT (CAT5)
* 1 port 100BaseTX (CAT5)

I've seen some sites listed them, one is $800 and another is $1200, and there
is another one on auction for like $20

I have this unit, second hand, all working fine cept some scratch on the
sticker at the front, and I would like to sell it. Would you guys please
help me give idea(s) of what I should put on the item please

Prices that won't make me a bloody rip-off or a bloody fool..

Answer:D-Link DES-2205 Switch Pricing Help Please

Sounds almost like you are trying to advertise your stuff here! In so far as the Auction price, it is usual that people will start a bid at some 'ridiculous' price, but in the end U would see that it will 'grow' a little closer to the retail/market price. Where as the other two prices are concerned.. I think if U shop around you will always find diff prices.

You have to come up w/ your own price that you feel comfortable with. Something that most others cannot do.

I have had Broadband for twelve months. I have had no cause to complain, however, people are being able to test their connection speeds and are becoming more experienced with the technology. Here's my first question. Q1. If you are too far from the exchange you wont get Broadband. Does that mean if you are closer to the domain you will achieve better speed results then someone at the outer limits of the exchange? If this is the case, would it be fair to introduce a different pricing structure based on your distance from the exchange? Is it fair to pay the same for less?- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Ok, let's have your thoughts, feel free to post your own Broadband topics of discussion here also. Let's DEBATE.

My old GeForce 6600GT crapped out on me so I'm looking around for a new Video Card. Currently I own a Dell Dimensions 4600, and I'm not 100% sure it uses a PCI Express Slot or not.

I was looking at a GeForce 8600GT because it looks like what I need. (Heavy video game use)

It's been a while since I've looked through video cards and would like a few opinions about the 8600GT. Also curious to see if the link I provided will work with my Dimensions 4600.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Oh yeah, just for reference.

GlassWire firewall control pricing:

They must be out of their minds...

While I really like GlassWire, it is a very limited product - for example - it will only prompt the user on an app's initial outbound network connection... and no subsequent connections. There are other user-unfriendly limitations beyond this. It adds very little to overall security...

The freeware version was\is useful during malware testing, but to me that's about it.

In comparison, one can purchase BiniSoft's Windows Firewall Control for $10/Lifetime license, unlimited installs. It doesn't have the pretty graphics, but for outbound network configuration it is simply powerful.

Answer:Standard pricing on webdesign and development.

Well, the first ting is to ask. Which you did. Some people do it for free. Some hosting services have templates anybody can use.Why not get on face book and see what others are doing?A price? You can ask $500 for a single page. But it better be very good and original.

Feature matrix (.docx file):

Home and Student includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote for one computer at $139.99.

Home and Business includes the above plus Outlook for one computer at $219.99.

Professional includes the above plus Access and Publisher for one PC at $399.99.

In addition to the traditional offerings, there are subscription-based versions:

Office 365 Home Premium: entire suite, install on five computers, extra 20 GB Skydrive space and one hour Skype credit, $99.99/year.

Office 365 Small Business Premium: entire suite, 25 GB Outlook storage, 10 GB business cloud drive, licensed by user at $149.99/user/year.

As a heavy Outlook user, it seems I'll have to go for the $100/year 365 Home Premium package. Like most here, I use both a desktop and a laptop--the new one install limit on the 'boxed' copies won't work unless you're someone who docks their laptop when they get home. Makes it more expensive for me as a student (where the suite used to be a one-time payment of $100, and allowed more than one install).
