Opencl.dll on sfc /scannow

Question: Opencl.dll on sfc /scannow

hey guys long time lurker here, usually i find solutions on my problem but this time around, i have no idea what to do!

Short story: ran sfc /scannow and got the message "found corrupt files but cannot repair," specifically regarding Opencl.dll. Can i fix this w/o doing a reset?

Long Story (in outline form):
- got a new SSD
-with my old HDD still in place(with w7) installed w10 thru usb in the SSD
-It worked, and thru the desktop i transferred files from my old HDD to the SSD
-tried to format the HDD thru my computer, did not work, got some error
-proceeded to format the hdd through w10 installation usb - worked
-changed the boot order so SSD load first
-got an error saying no OS is found
-plugged in w10 usb and did "repair my computer" - worked
-able to access desktop, play games, etc.
-decided to run sfc /scannow to be sure, and got that error
-did a disk cleanup and then ran sfc again, still the same

also i have attached the log that i got from the sfc

Preferred Solution: Opencl.dll on sfc /scannow

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Perhaps not, even if you were to do a clean install at this point - see here: SFC some corrupt files can not be fixed

Normally, folks would advise that the next step is using DISM to repair this problem but, if you check the thread I linked above, you may decide you don't want to reinvent the wheel.

I have Win 10 Pro 64 bit on a Dell Vostro 3460 with Intel Core i7, 8 GB RAM and Crucial 1TB SSD. All Dell diagnostics pass, Windows fully updated.
About 2 weeks ago (April 2016), the Windows Update for Version 1511 finally arrived and it is now at Build 10586.218
A few days (2 or 3) before that, IE 11 and Edge started to misbehave. It's possible that some final pre-upgrade-to-1511 upgrade did this - it is equally possible just a co-incidence.
The symptoms are that IE11 will open up but the address bar does not get populated and after a few seconds, it just disappears again. Edge does similar. When this happens, I sometimes try Firefox but that takes a long time to start - at least it starts. Chrome usually starts within a short time. There is no sure way to get IE and Edge back again. Rebooting sometimes does it. Usuallly, I have to use Turn Windows Features on and off to turn IE 11 off then on again (which given a restart is needed both times is timeconsuming).
I have tried clearing caches, Inetcpl.cpl, in place repair of Windows 10 and sfc /scannow. scannow blames a corrupt opencl.dll according to http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-windows_install/sfc-scannow-report-opencldll-bad/4209b042-1b7b-4fa2-a720-2c0e489d137b?page=5 which - if that thread is to be believed is something to do with Windows not treating the NVidia driver correctly or vice versa.

Just bought this new i7 z510. Downloaded and tried to run this program called resolve lite for video. Install the program and open it, it says NO Open CL acceleration hardware found.  What the hell does one need to buy a new dam laptop if it doesn't even have up to date things like open cl in it.   If someone knows how to instal a program that fakes open cl or something so I can run resolve please tell me. Thanks.

Question: OpenCL

I have both an Intel HD 4600 GPU (Core i7 4790k CPU), and Radeon R9 285 card in my desktop. Anyways, since the HD is pretty much unused I decided to enable it in UEFI settings for the purpose of running OpenCL stuff on it.

Anyways I'm looking for software that can take advantage of OpenCL.

Answer:OpenCL

It hasn't really taken off kind of like WiDi. Good luck finding anything worthwhile that uses it.

Question: Missing OpenCL.dll

Hi All,
So, I upgraded to Windows 10 a day back using the media creation tool, and the install went fine. After I restarted the PC for the first time, I got an error saying that OpenCL.dll is missing. I searched online forums and it said that it might be due a problem with your graphic drivers. So, I updated the driver with Device Manager, but it said that the driver is upto date. I still get the problem after every restart.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks everyone.

Answer:Missing OpenCL.dll

Could you look and let us know what driver version you are using please? (quick way to look- right click on your desktop, click nvidia control panel, then in the bottom left corner of the dialogue box that opens hit system properties)

I have looked through the excellent tutorial posted on here with regards to SFC issues but i'm unsure if i am doing something incorrect as, the ISO i got from Microsoft website, has an install file with a .wmd extension.

I am on the following build:

When i run SFC i get corrupted files could not be repaired message:

I have saved the log of the above scan which i have attached. Please forgive me for the possibly dumb question but do i know download the 1511 iso? DISM is saying source files not found.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as the Tutorial steps don't seem to fix the problem unless its me which most likely is!

Hello! I work and study in CAE/mathematical modeling field. Now I'm trying to use OpenCL on my laptop. According to all the utilities I've tried I have no OpenCL support, although I know that it should have, at least early versions. E.g. FurMark didn't even recognize my dicrete card. It simply stated that I only have the Intel HD Graphics.GPU Shark says the same.GPU-Z tells me that I have both, but no OpenCL support on either of the devices. At first I could't even start a simple example in OpenCL, because the "Getting started guides usually suggest to look for a cl.h header in your $(AMDAPPSDKROOT) folder". I have that environment variable set to an existing folder, but it contains no libs, headers or anything close to it.I've installed Intel SDK for OpenCL to check the available devices through OpenCL API. It says I can use only CPU. Hardware: AMD Ati Radeon HD 7670m; Intel HD Graphics 4000; Intel Core i5 CPU;BIOS info: InsydeH20 Setup Utility Rev. 3.7; f.12;The device manager recognizes both devices correctly (from the first glance). According to it both devices' drivers are 8.982.10.6000 from AMD.I have been studying this problem for a couple of days already and found only two direct statements that it IS possible to use OpenCL on my Radeon card:https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/system-requirements.html (Call me Mr. BrightSide, but I assume they should have tested it)andhttps://community.amd.com/thread/162244The reasons ... A programming language: https://www.khronos.org/opencl/

OpenCL defines an application programming interface (API) that allows programs running on the host to launch kernels on the compute devices and manage device memory, which is (at least conceptually) separate from host memory. Programs in the OpenCL language are intended to be compiled at run-time, so that OpenCL-using applications are portable between implementations for various host devices.[12

OpenCL: Parallel programmers' new best friend.

If you are interested at all in multi-core programming, this tool (Open Computing Language) could become the standard for years to come in "what may be the best solution so far to the general problem of parallel programming." It does both task-level and data-level parallelism (aka SIMD) and some parallel-programming languages can't do the latter.

Answer:OpenCL: Parallel programmers' new best friend

Some of the parallel processing examples are best described as *way cool* (I don't drag out such language for the average stuff ).

Don't know what Nvidea's plan is with both CUDA and OpenCL support. As both do broadly the same thing why are they pushing their solution so hard? Anyone know any good tutorials for OpenCL (or CUDA for that matter, but there's more out there).

It'd be a shame to write two programs for two different machines.

Nvidia Mulls Over Porting PhysX to OpenCL - X-bit labs

"Nvidia May Allow GPU PhysX to Work on ATI Hardware

Nvidia Corp. said that it could eventually port computing of physics effects created using PhysX middleware to OpenCL application programming interface (API) and capable hardware. This may actually enable acceleration of physics effects processing on graphics chips to work on ATI Radeon hardware.

At present PhysX middle-ware is used to make physics effects on various platforms, including video game consoles and personal computers. In virtually all the cases processing of physics effects is performed on the central processing units ? x86 chips in case of PC, Cell in case of PlayStation 3 or PowerPC in case of Xbox 360 ? however, there are handful of games that can take advantage of physics computing on Nvidia GeForce graphics processing units (GPUs) that support CUDA technology. The latter is virtually Nvidia?s proprietary API and is naturally not supported by chips developed by ATI, graphics business unit of Advanced Micro Devices. Due to such limitations not a lot of game developers are implementing GPU PhysX and enabling acceleration using DirectCompute or OpenCL is one of the best ways to popularize processing of physics effects on graphics processors.

?In the future it is a possibility that we could use OpenCL, but at the moment CUDA works great. [Our GPU] architecture allows for acceleration by other things like OpenCL. Nvidia works very closely wit... Read more

I made inf file for g210m on toshiba u500 for 195.81 beta driver.
Just download driver and add it to unpacked directory where are other infs and install.

Now you can use OpenCL, CUDA, DirectCompute, Physx (enable it in CP) and nVidia GPU Acceleration for Adobe Flash Player (install new 10.1 beta 2 flash player by adobe)

This inf is optimized for DEV_0A74&SUBSYS_FF401179 g210m.
If you want me to add more devices please post what devices you want and i will but you will have to test it.

Hope this helps.

Answer:Satellite U500 - INF file with OpenCL, CUDA for Nvidia driver

Thanks for that but usually it?s advisable to use the Toshiba graphic card driver due to the GPU overheating protection.
Other drivers don?t support such protection and the usage of such drivers can cause an higher temperature which could affect the GPU chip?.

Question: sfc /scannow

I am setting up my new laptop and the sfc /scannow process (as Administrator) repeatedly ends with:

Is the fact that the scan always reports files were "successfully repaired", rather than, a clean scan - "no errors were reported" anything to be concerned about?

I am rebooting between each scan.

I have attached the cbs log file for information. Any assistance in getting this issue resolved would be appreciated.

Please help!... I can't run 'SFC.EXE. /SCANNOW on XP Pro SP3. My AV doesn't find any viral content, and I have never had a problem running before.
Here's what is happening: From 'CMD'- 'SFC.EXE /SCANNOW', progress bar pops up, then a window pops up asking for the disk, install disk and a window keeps popping up with the retry-continue-cancel note. That's it! When I try to cancel, I just keep getting the Yes/No query. Can't get out, unless I restart the pc. When doing this, it takes forever to reboot. The reason I decided to run the 'sfc /scannow' is because when I log on in the morning, all of a sudden some of my desktop icons have lost their 'logo', and I have to go to properties and do the change icon thing. I do have an icon file (ico) in My Documents where I keep them. There are a few other minor system nuances going on, also, from time to time.
Thanks for any help!

Lot of places we can go here.

Are you running it from command prompt that you started as "run as administrator"?

In some situations, especially in Windows XP and Windows 2000, you may also need access to your original Windows installation CD or DVD.

Question: Sfc /scannow

On : sfc /scannow, what and when and how do you use this application? Thank you very much. YOYO.

Answer:Sfc /scannow

The System File Checker will compare the file versions of "protected system files" on your system with your original installation media - and will replace those that don't agree with the version on the installation media. This then requires a visit to Windows Update to ensure that you haven't "down-dated" any of the protected system files that were updated by Windows Update. Also, it's not a friendly tool - it won't tell you when it's done and won't suggest anything but to insert your XP CD.It's the step that I take just before recommending a repair install of XP. I haven't found a list of the "protected system files" but suppose that it's easy enough to locate.Remember that the "protected system files" are only a sub-set of "system files" - so that it won't fix all problems. Also, if these files were "protected" in the first place - how did they get changed? (just food for thought). Here's a HowTo about it: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/43051/how-to-use-sfcexe-to-repair-system-files/

Strangest thing. On my windows 7 Pro (32-bit) desktop I am getting a c0000001 error at boot with no indication of which file is causing the problem. I boot to the OS disc and try to run Sfc /scannow and it tells me there is a repair pending. I looked in the winsxs folder but there isn't a pending.xml file. I go to run Sfc /scannow /offbootdir=d:\ /offwindir=d:\windows\ and it just gives me information about the Sfc program. You know, version number, sample commands, etc. But it didn't actually run.

Any idea how I can run sfc on this drive? I can put it in another machine that works but I don't know the syntax on how to run sfc on the borked drive.

Hi Joan welcome to the forum

This can happen if you get the syntax of the command wrong, if going by your post above you have typed sfc/scannow then you will get an error as you would need to type sfc /scannow ( note the space between c and / )

Also make sure you logon to Administrators account.

Also search for the SFC file to see if indeed you have it, its located in C:\Windows\System32

Question: Scannow SFC

Am trying to clean/speed up computer (XP Home SP3) following all instructions on bleeping site but can't get past Scannow SFC. As described in Marc Liron's web page, the dialog box "Files that are required for Windows to run properly must be copied to the DLL cache". I've tried every suggested workaround I could find with no luck. I've burned the operating system backup from the computer restore drive to DVD and tried to read, I've copied i386 to C:\ with no luck; changed the registry paths (default = E:\Drivers\Win2k&xp) in every setting recommended and I still receive the dialog box. Let me add that the check runs for about 1/6 of the way before the dialog box appears. But then, in addition to changing the SourcePath settings, if I also change the ServicePack paths, the dialog box pops up immediately. Any thoughts?

Answer:Scannow fix

Hello wingman,

Yes, that DISM command is used to attempt to repair the component store. The component store is what SFC uses to replace any corrupted or modified system files it finds to repair them from.
DISM - Fixing Component Store Corruption in Windows 8

SFC /SCANNOW Command - Run in Windows 8
The DISM command is only available in Windows 8/8.1, and not in previous versions of Windows such as Windows 7. For Windows 7, you would need to use the System Update Readiness Tool instead.

Best bet is a repair install if you have the vista dvd.

Also a restore if you have a backup

Answer:sfc /scannow

As you use the OS, errors may occur. Many times it is caused by HD sectors or other corruption. If the computer is not giving you problems, I would suggest that you just use the computer and do not worry about it. If you do want to attempt to fix the errors, it is suggested that you run SFC 3 times.
If that does not work, a repair install will be necessary.
Repair Install For Vista[11]=Performance Maintenance
It is suggested to avoid future problems, download Macrium Reflect and once a week or so make an image of your hard drive. If this ever happens again, you could use the image to replace the current OS.
If you decide to use that alternative or even to reinstall the OS, be sure to use Chkdsk, to correct any sector problems on the HD, first.

sfc /scannow won't work and keeps coming up saying that another system repair is scheduled upon reboot.

Only problem is i reboot and get the error that i have a corrupt system registry so it wont run what is scheduled. I need sfc /scannow to fix my problem.

Any ideas of how to get around it?

If you have your registry backed up you can retore it then try running sfc/scannow after that. You could also try a system restore to a time before the registry was corrupted. Both methods are covered in the tutorial below.

Question: SFC /Scannow

Hi all, firstly thanks in advance for the help.
Right, i had a problem with windows not booting correctly, ran the repair console and did a fixboot. this sorted out the not booting problem, but now when it boots up its gives me the login screen but i can't login! from what ive been reading i need to run system file checker, but i can't work out how to do this from the recovery console as i cant actually get on to windows to use dos prompt or simply the run application tool. many thanks Adam.

Answer:SFC /Scannow

Hi Adam, Welcome to TSF!

If the Login Screen is a box asking for a password, and you have not allocated one, just click ok and see if it will boot normally.

If not, you could try the sfc from 'Safe Mode'.

To do this, turn the computer on (from a "cold" start) and continually tap the F8 Key; this will bring you to a Menu with a number of listings, including Safe Mode; select this.

Once Safe Mode is running, go Start > Run > type in the box sfc /scannow, and insert the Windows CD (hold the Shift key down to prevent it from starting) > Ok.
(Please note the spaces in the command prompt.)
A small pane will appear on the screen running the sfc.
Naturally you will not be able to anything on the computer while its running, so be patient, as it will take anything up to 45 minutes to complete.
During the scan you might get a message box asking to Insert the CD, just click Retry, and allow sfc to do its thing.
Once the scan is complete, reboot the computer normally.

Post back with the outcome.

Kind Regards,

My laptop is in a homegroup with my desktop to do printer sharing and also remote desktop. Not sure when it started but both systems are booting very slow. So I ran the sfc /scannow. The CBS.log shows the errors that couldn't be fixed. Is there anyone that can help me fix the errors?

Because I did an anytime upgrade doing a clean install is going to be a real pain and I am hoping with the log that I can attempt a fix rather than doing a clean install or system repair which both will require hours of doing. Seems if I understand the log that one problem is a printer issue, maybe?

I don't want to post the log here and am not sure which forum I should seek help on.

Both my systems are running Win 7 64 bit, Norton IS 2012, Malwarebytes, and I use CCleaner on a regular bases. Everything tells me I am free of any problems like viruses, malware, spyware and the like.

What should I do?

Thanks for any help that can be offered. Since my last time on this site, I have been running both my systems worry free till this issue. And that's been quite a while, like a good year or more!!

So I love the sfc /scannow command, but usually when I run it on a computer, it will say it found errors but couldn't fix them, probably because the computer is using them. So I tried on one computer to boot into the recovery console and run the command, but it just says a repair is already pending and the computer needs to reboot.

How can I use the sfc /scannow command to fix Windows files without having to do a repair install?

Thanks

Answer:Need sfc /scannow Help

The SFC command is limited to what it can fix. If errors are found and not fixed, run the SFC several more times. If they are not repaired SFC cannot fix them.

Question: Sfc /scannow

I am starting to hate those letters. My son's PC is a ongoing mess in progress. So much software has been installed and uninstalled over the years I am (or was) amazed that it is still running. Recently that changed. It was getting slower by the day. I remove a lot of themes and fonts which has improved the performance but I am experiencing a slow boot and a slow windows explorer when using it to open folders. I've concluded that some system files are corrupted.
I see that the SFC /SCANNOW is a possible means of repairing damages files and there are a lot of links telling how to force this simple command line to function. I've tried them all. I keep getting asked for a CD which is in place but never accessed.
Does anyone have a more bulletproof approach to this utility?

Question: sfc /SCANNOW

Hi guys im having this problem. I think some windows files might be corrupt, so i ran sfc /SCANNOW, it started to scan and about 10secs in a message prompted me for the XP -64bit disk. I inserted the disk and the message disappeared and continued running the scan. About another 5-10secs in it prompt me for the disk again, i pressed retry and it continued again. This time it got halfway and yet again it asked me for the disk, but no matter how many times i pressed retry or re-inserted the disk the message stays and i cannot proceed with the scan.
I think my CD/DVD drive might be buggered but im not sure, i can install sometimes and other times an installation error occurs...
I have one work around for the games and thats to create an ISO of the disk and use a Virtual driver tool to install.
Could i use this for the XP disk, or will this be complete illegal under Microsoft and XP will detect the disk as a fake?

Answer:sfc /SCANNOW

This is normal for sfc /scannow. It can take 45-60 minutes. Just keep pressing retry. You just have to be patient.

I want to run sfc /scannow. I have the origional XP OP disk without SP2 on it. My computer is updated to SP2.

I have SP2 files saved on my PC and on disk. sfc /scannow asks for XP OS disk when I run it. I am assuming that the original disk will not work because it does not have sfc on it.

I would like to be able to run the sfc /scannow without having to insert a disk. I hear that I may be able to set it to work like that.

I've Googled for information but it was just to confusing. Your help is appreciated.

chances is it will scan but obviously if its a sp2 file that needs to be replaced it will not work, so yes you would need the xpsp2 disk

Question: Sfc /scannow

I was recently given some advice by someone for a problem I'm having with a Dell Dimension 4700 getting a blue screen.

They said to try sfc /scannow. I assumed I was to type that at a command prompt? If not, where should I be entering that command? Because when I type it at a command prompt, I get a message back saying that the command is not recognized.

You should find everything you need there. If it doesn't work, you don't have the sfc.exe file in your OS. You can get tools off the disk. 40 of them aren't loaded during setup, you have to install them manually. Sfc.exe was installed in my XP SP2 Home during setup.

Question: sfc /scannow

I want to run sfc /scannow on my XP Pro 64 bit but am told to insert the Service Pack 2 CD-ROM before it will continue.  Just what kind of CD is this and where or how do I get one?   I have the XP Pro 64 bit SP 2 .exe file in a folder on my HDD and have burned it to a CD but the scf utility tells me that is the wrong CD.

Answer:sfc /scannow

There are a couple different forms of SP2. Microsoft mailed SP2 to registered corporate customers many years ago and I got 2 of them. My guess is that its looking for a target file on that CD and there is a naming mismatch of some kind. For SP2 there is the Microsoft update method as well as the System Admin Network install of SP2, as well as the SP2 CD that Microsoft mailed out to registered corporate customers who requested the CD.It might be a matter of making sure the SP2 file is a specific file name and not a variant such as the Network System Admin SP2 download might be a different named EXE than the service pack 2 exe that came on the CD. Matching the file names might be the fix.Lastly... if this is a bootleg of XP 64bit it could be broken in which it will never find SP2. If this is the case then you need to get a legal copy of XP 64bit off of ebay etc.

Question: SFC /scannow

I believe that I have some problems with Windows XP files. I ran sfc /scannow and received the following message: "Files that are required for windows to run properly must be copied to the DLL Cache. Insert Windows XP Professional CD2 now."

When I insert the Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 DVD that came with my Dell computer, I am told that this is the wrong disk. Media Center came with my computer. The only change that I made was to install Service Pack 2. Now it seems to be referring to my operating system as "XP Professional". This may be why it is not accepting the reinstallation DVD that came with my system. I called Dell and they want me to reiinstall the operating system which will cause me to lose all my data. I dread doing this. Is there another solution? My problem is that freqently my computer hangs up when I boot. I must then power down and reboot.
