Tablet mode doesn't get engaged when I undock my Windows tablet?

Question: Tablet mode doesn't get engaged when I undock my Windows tablet?

I have a Cherry Mobile Alpha Morph that works without problems aside from the fact that, when I undock it from the keyboard, it doesn't detect that it should now be in Tablet Mode. I have to manually go to the Action Center and toggle it there. Same with docking it back. I have already checked my settings and I didn't disable Tablet Mode either.

Anyone have an idea how I can resolve this? I just want to seamlessly dock and undock the tablet and it should switch to tablet or desktop mode respectively.

I don't know if it's relevant but the OS is Windows 10 Home Single Language.

Preferred Solution: Tablet mode doesn't get engaged when I undock my Windows tablet?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Tablet mode doesn't get engaged when I undock my Windows tablet?

I would like to know how to enable this as well - In fact, I was hoping to be prompted to change modes when dock/undocking....instead of having to find the setting and toggle tablet mode on/off every time.

Hi all, I have recently upgraded to windows 7 (64bit) and now when I  put my tablet into tablet mode, the screen doesn't autorotate and none of the tablet buttons work. In order to rotate the screen I have to right click on the desktop and choose graphic properties/rotation.Interestingly if I press the tablet buttons while in tablet mode and then rotate the screen up to notepad mode within a few seconds the button will perform its function (rotate screen, activate tablet shortcut menu, etc). Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I've tried running system update (4.0) to no avail. Cheers

When I use the proper channels to undock my computer from its base, I get the following message:Problen Undocking From Docking Station:  You cannot eject your computer because one of the devices in the docking station, "Communications Port (COM 1)" cannot be stopoped right now.  Try closing all applicaitons and ejecting the computer again later. I have nothing connected to the base except the battery charger and have even removed that to try again.  Both the green arrow and the red circle with slash are lit.  The other side is unlocked (unlocked with key).  None of my usb connections seem to be working on the base, either, and I suppose that will correct itself if I can ever undock it. Any suggestions, P L E A S E ?  Thanks.

Hey all, I have a weird problem.  My tablet buttons have stopped working-- but only in tablet mode.  That is, I can't rotate, or bring up the tablet shortcuts, or move around the screen in tablet mode.  Also autorotate doesn't work.  But if I switch out of tablet mode, I can do all of these things just fine (except for autorotate). Also, when I switch into tablet mode the screen doesnt rotate or anything, but when I switch out of tablet mode the screen rotates to the direction I defined in the settings (sometimes.. to be honest it seems pretty random to me).  I am running 32 bit vista w/ 4 gb ram on an x61 tablet with the latest drivers.  I have uninstalled the tablet button drivers and the lenovo system interface and reinstalled them already.. I have the latest APS. Help me out here.. I have no idea why this isn't working!  Don't make me have to reinstall vista to get the buttons working.. Tha'ts ridiculous!!  Arrrgh.

Hi all,    I have a really annoying problem...my x220 tablet disconnects from the internet whenever I enter tablet mode. The internet can be working perfectly fine while in non tablet mode but as soon as I switch to tablet mode, my internet disconnects. And if I switch back to non tablet mode from tablet mode, my internet returns almost instantaneously. I can load a page in non tablet mode with no problems, switch to tablet mode and the page stops loading. If I return back to non tablet mode the page resumes loading without so much as a pause or a hiccup. Also, when I switch the computer to tablet mode, wifi networks disappear off of the "available networks" list that were there before the switch.     I've tried everything, from updating network device drivers, reinstalling network device drivers, running diagnostics, reformatting my computer, uninstalling Norton Antivirus, system restoring to days before the last known working date in normal mode and safe mode, and contacting customer support (chat and call, managed to get a hold of a rep) but none of them have worked.    I also used to have a networking log before I reformatted/system reset to factory settings and there were a ton of errors with words like avsc manager failed to "something" ... I'll reinstall the thinkpad network managing program to create another log. Can someone please help me? My last resort is calling lenovo support again to have tech support come to hel... Read more

I just bought my Yoga 2 13, when I flip it to Tablet mode, the screen turns off. Apparently it goes to sleep. When I open it it turns on again. Do I need to do any adjustments? or is this a defect?

Answer:Yoga 2 13 Tablet Screen turns off when in Tablet Mode

Try updating your drivers first: http://mobilesupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-2-13-notebook-l...If that does not help, try a factory reset:1. Turn off your Yoga 2 132. Press the tiny button next to the power button on the right3. Follow instructions to perform a factory resetIf none of the above attempts have helped you, it is probably a hardware issue.

Well, I've finally had it. I've had my 6365 CTO X60 tablet pc for over a year now and last Monday I lost pen functionality in tablet pc mode in the afternoon after working fine in the morning. It works fine, even now after rotating the screen back to laptop mode. As soon as the screen is rotated back to tablet pc mode, no pen functionality but the mouse still works fine so I know it's functional in laptop mode but rotate back, all ok!  I did uninstall the Wacom drivers, restart, and then downloaded the tablet pc, windows xp version drivers from the wacom.com site as instructed in a previous post. Unfortunately, the digitizer pen is still disabled in tablet pc mode and works fine when rotated back to laptop mode. I've called Lenovo tech support in Atlanta four times now and they've been totally useless. I wiped out my X60 tablet last Friday and used Rescue and Recovery to reinstall the operating system back to it's factory settings. I went back and unistalled and reinstalled the Wacom driver. Nothing. Since that didn't work either I've requested the box to ship this back to the Memphis Depot. Hopefully, I'll just get a new replacement machine that works but I'm so angry and frustrated w/ Lenovo's support because it's obvious that the people on the phone are not tech specialists and they couldn't even point me in a direction to get this fixed. It's cost me over a week now wo... Answer:X60 tablet pc digitizer pen functionality disabled in tablet pc mode

Problem solved! While the support folks weren't able to fix the problem over the phone, they did overnite me a prepaid return box which I sent back that day. Two days later they overnited my X60 tablet back fixed with a note saying 'LCD enabled'. I'm impressed how quickly they got my tablet pc back up and running. I'm glad I got that 3-yr. support warranty because I usually opt out of those things. This totally paid for itself. I just wish I hadn't been so reluctant to send back my laptop because I do need it for work and I figured I wouldn't get it back for at least a week or longer. I was so frustrated and pessimistic that I forgot sometimes these problems do get fixed in a very satisfactory manner. It's too bad the initial steps that led to sending it back were so painful. Bottom line: Lenovo fixed my pc quickly, no questions asked. Thanks!

I'm an onsite tech at a large company doing IBM / HP support. I've noticed that when turning the LCD (flipping it over for tablet position) on some units the stylus will stop working. I'm seeing this alot. I've replaced LCD cables, made sure theres enough slack so its not pulled when turning the LCD 180 deg., etc.     I can't see any types of sensors that would signal the driver or BIOS when the display is flipped into tablet position - but am I missing something. Does the software know when the display in in tablet mode - if so, maybe this problem is indeed driver or BIOS related.  I even thought there might be an EMI problem - with magnetic interference coming out the LCD back when its up against the keyboard (and very close to the mobo) which may be causing electrical / bus interference and thereby stopping the stylus from being recognized?????   Does anyone know what could be the cause....and /or the answer here?                    Thanks........DCO

I just bought a Lenovo Yoga 500 but id doesn't detect the different modes. It changed only two times but then it didn't change back. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Answer:Yoga 500 doesn't switch to tablet mode

Hi Heck,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

Windows 10 is definitely better designed to be used in table mode and switch between a table mode and computer mode use. Despite that I expected some learning curve, I found that the Windows 10 environment is immediately very intuitive to use. When in Windows 10, you can access the table-mode settings by navigating to Windows 10 Settings > System > Tablet Mode.

?

Also, Turns out there is a screen lock position button on the side. You might have pressed it by accident....that's what I did.

Let us know how you get on.
Regards,
Shashi

I recently installed Windows 7 32bit on my Toshiba Portege M400-S4031. After installing Corel Painter, I noticed that it was not pressure sensitive. After some quick Google-ing, I found that I had to update the Wacom tablet PC driver. I installed it and it got the pressure sensitivity working. i thought everything would be fine, but I soon found that if I change the display mode to anything that isn't the primary landscape mode, the cursor won't follow the pen. I tried calibrating the screen several times and uninstalling and reinstalling the driver but nothing work. Also, the rotation button below the screen doesn't work. More specifically, it seems like the .exe (PHTRot.exe) which it's suppose to run when pressed doesn't work. I've installed/uninstalled/reinstalled the Toshiba Tablet PC Extension Package and the Added Value Package but no luck.

Hi all i have a strange problem with the pen in tablet mode and was wondering if there is a solution. I have a X220t with both finger and pen touch. After reinstalling Win7 64 bit (needed the Enterprise version) the pen just stays in primary landscape mode, or something. That means in portrait modeor secondary landscape mode the pen cursor moves as if you where still in primary landscape mode essentially mirroring the cursor movement 90 or a 180 degrees. Did anyone of you came across this behaviour and now a fix to that?I tries resetting the calibration and re-calibratin, but it didn't help Finger touch is fine, its only the pen (wacom) that is strange. Thanks in advanceRobert

Answer:Pen tracking doesn't detect tablet mode (X220t)

I have the same issue, but only when I install "Wacom Pen Driver" (from here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-77280.html). It seems like that driver doesn't detect screen orientation properly. If I remove it, all screen orientations work fine (pen also works fine, so I don't even see what this driver is for). What I've done is I removed all pen/touch devices from device manager and also unistalled the "ISD Tablet" program to get rid of that driver. After that I installed "Enhanced Multitouch Driver" which seems like a newer version of Wacom Pen Driver, that understands screen orientation correctly. Also, pen and touch work fine for me even without any drivers at all.

When I fold the notebook into tablet mode, the keyboard turns off which makes sense and a prompt comes up for switching to tablet mode, but when I want to switch back, the keyboard doesn't come back on and I have to restart. The frustrating part is that quite often I get prompted to switch to tablet mode when I'm simply using the laptop normally (desktop mode), making the keyboard turn off and it doesn't turn back on again. I've tried suppressing tablet mode in the settings but now it just seems to turn off without even prompting, not solving the problem. Is there a way to manually force the keyboard on and off or a way to completely disable this function? Thanks

So, got my Yoga yesterday. After repartitioning the hard drive (what is Lenovo thinking?) and restoring from my USB recovery disk, I have a nicely working computer. Except for one slightly annoying thing. When I flip the screen over into tablet mode the keyboard becomes disabled (perfect). When I flip the screen back over into the normal laptop position the keyboard remains disabled (ugh!!!). The only solution I have at the moment is to close the laptop and reopen it. The keyboard works again but I have to relog into Windows. Running Windows 8. Only things I did other then changing the drive partitions is remove some unwanted default software that was installed.

I am not talking about APPS, I am talking about .exe files like photoshop, ERP, educational softwares etc.
2. As it is having only 1 USB port so it is possible to attach a USB hub so that we can attach pen drives, KB, Mouse, HDD, 3g Dongel & power adapter at once ?
If anyone of you have used any windows 8/8.1 tablet then please reply.

Hi,
I'm going to be doing some presentations and teaching online. I'm using Team Viewer 9 running on Windows 7 as my software. I would like to be able to have the equivalent to a whiteboard visible to the participants.
For a demonstration of the sort of thing I want to do see
where the presenter draws circles etc. He doesn't do any handwriting in the YouTube video (but he does in the actual presentation at CBT nuggets)
I'm total newbie when it comes to tablets, but a tablet that allows drawing direct on the tablet and simultaneous display on a Windows monitor. I know that the presentation on You Tube was done with various Wacom devices. Intuos4, Cintiq monitor, or more recently, Cintiq Companion tablet. (I tweeted the presenter Shawn Powers). These devices are a bit beyond my budget. Is there a cheaper alternative? Sadly the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 is not yest available in Australia (where I am) - I'm not sure if it's a possible answer, but I'm assuming it would be. Is there anything else that's not going to mean I have to take out a mortgage on my house?
Thanks in advance for your help.
cheers,

I have upgraded my X201 Tablet to Windows 10 32bit. As far as I can tell, everything is working, including the WACOM drivers and touchscreen.  Wireless has worked perfectly so far, not sure about Bluetooth as I don't use it. My only issue is that the buttons on the display do not work. The power button located on the display does work. I tried installing the Tablet Button Driver II and it will go through the install but the buttons do not work.  This is the download link:http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds027627 The document claims Windows 10 compatability and was Last Updated :08 Jun 2015. On inspection, all the files extracted are dated from 2012 and when trying to manually run the software Windows throws up an error that the software is not supported on this PC.   I removed and reinstalled and noted that the driver information page when running the installer does NOT have Windows 10 listed as a supported system. My assumption is that the driver that they have linked on the download page is NOT the most current driver and is infact the driver for Windows 7 from 2012. Does anyone know how to contact Lenovo to get the correct driver posted to the page, or know of an alternate source to try and find it?

I have upgraded to Windows 8 64 bit on my X61 Tablet, however I cannot get the tablet buttons, hotkeys, or auto-rotation to work. My understanding is that Lenovo has stopped supporting these products. I think it is a shame to stop using a perfectly working tablet PC with a superior LCD. I don't want to go back to Win 7 leaving all kinds of nice features on Windows 8. Any suggestions? Is there a hope? Koray

Answer:X61 Tablet Windows 8 - Tablet Button and Features Request

Hi koray,

I've been playing around with Windows 8 since the developers preview.  I've ran it on a lot of older systems.  Getting things to work will require some experimentation on your part.

You can start with your Driver Matrix.  There you can find the Hotkeys Utility for Windows 8.  You will also need the Power Manager Driver for Windows 8.  Not Power Manager,  just the Power Manager Driver.

Run Windows Update, it will probably find some stuff.  Some Windows 7 drivers will work, others won't.

I'm running Windows 8 Pro on an x60 tablet and everything works fine.  I also have it on an x61 non-tablet and it runs fine. I had to do a lot of messing around with stuff to get them to work right though.

Just make sure that you set system restore points before changing anything so you can get back what you had before, just in case something doesn't work right.  And, only install one thing at a time and reboot and test it out thoroughly before you install something else.

Good luck with this,

Dave

I have an Asus Transformer Book, and when I pull the tablet part off the keyboard, Windows 10 automatically switches into tablet mode. I'm wondering if it's possible to have Chrome automatically open into WIndows 8 Mode when Windows 10 is in tablet mode. I like to use Windows 8 Mode in Chrome when I'm using my Asus as a tablet, but not when I'm using it as a laptop. So simply put, is it possible to sync up the toggle between Windows 8 Mode in Chrome and Tablet mode in Windows 10?

I hope this makes sense.

Answer:Windows 10 tablet mode on th2

I don't usually do tablet mode on my hybrid, but I can definitely say that Snap multitasking is much improved for tablet mode this time around. I personally would upgrade, especially for the other stuff that 10 brings to the table as well. But that's just my two cents.

Hi, Last week I installed Windows 7 Ultimate (full license) in a dual boot configuration aside the original Windows Vista Business OS. After using Windows Update and Lenovo System Update 4.0 most functions work well, accept for the pen input (neither in laptop mode nor in tablet mode). I checked if everything still works in Windows Vista and it does. But in Win 7 it won't recognise the pen nor finger input. There are no device warnings or errors. One other major change is that I switched from ZoneAlarm Internet Security (used in Win Vista) to Norton 2010 Internet Security (including Norton Utilities) in Win 7. I tried to find the proper software driver on the Lenovo support site and searched via Google and in this forum, but couldn't find a proper solution for my configuration. Some threads in this forum mentioned using Wacom drivers, but they don't seem to support Windows 7. Any of you got a clue what to do? I appreciate your help.

I"m suffering from the same problem.  It looks like the pen driver and touch driver aren't installed.  Lenovo doesn't have the option of downloading those for windows 7 on their website.

Answer:Tablet mode not working with windows 10

@Enginestechie?, Thanks for posting back.  I understand the frustration.  However the notebook was designed with an operating system in mind and when you upgrade to another OS there are always bumps in the road and this has been the case for ever.  Keep an eye on the hp support site for updates and releases for Windows 10. Thanks again for the post and have a great day.

Basically the tablet has no awareness of what position its screen is in unlike in windows 7. I can't get the tablet to automatically switch screen orientation when I switch to tablet mode which necessitates the tablet button, which is a minor inconvenience. A major inconvenience though is the trackpoint doesn't disable in tablet mode, and the twisting action of the screen makes onenote switch between pen and mouse input a few hundred times a second when I'm hovering, which can result in some very weird things. I have up to date ultranav drivers etc. Lenovo doesn't seem to offer a multitouch driver for windows 8 which seems to be the culprit here. Are there any solutions to this?

How can us end users get Microsoft to wake up and smell the proverbial coffee? Windows 10 Tablet mode is seriously broken and is an impediment to Windows' future success. It needs to be fixed and quickly.
There is little love lost between me and Microsoft, but I want to see Microsoft succeed in the tablet world. Why? For a very selfish reason, competition. Since I use Microsoft's operating system I want it to be the best that there is. Right now it isn't!
In 2017 the tablet (& mobile) landscape is still almost a monopoly. Apple's iOS dominates. Google's Android is a distant runner up in terms of dollar value (I don't consider old, under-powered or cheap devices running a myriad of versions of Android as constituting an actual threat to Apple's iOS monopoly). Unfortunately Windows 10 doesn't barely registers above a percentage point on the tablet devices scale which doesn't bode well for its future. But, Windows 10 tablet could be better. It could be MUCH BETTER.
Android doesn't meet my work needs (it's okay as a portable web OS). iOS is way too expensive and doesn't meet my work needs (though, it a great portable OS). Mac OS X mostly meets my work needs, but, I'm now too heavily invested in software that runs on Microsoft's Windows, so, I need Microsoft to succeed.
Let me describe how I've come to the conclusion that Windows tablet mode is woefully inadequate: by watching my four and six year old sons get frustrated with Windows 10 tablet mode on two separate tablet devic... Read more

Answer:Be it resolved: Windows 10 tablet mode needs more Apple!

I only have one comment to make.
Why are you saying these to us ?
Shouldn't you be presenting you case to Microsoft ?
Don't convince us. Convince Microsoft.

I have found, probably after a new windows update, a new start menu layout (attached)

In order to restore the old one i replaced the "database" folder ( in: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\TileDataLayer) but it didn't work properly. For a fast solution I tried to delete the user folder and create a new one. In that way it worked but appeared an error (below) that doesn't want to stop every time the user is loading.

I was wondering: is there an easy way to restore the previous layout? About the error: "we can't sign into your account windows 10..." what could be the solution?

Thanks

Apologies, but I am somewhat confused by your query. Does your pen not work in tablet mode whatsoever, or does it not work in landscape view? Also, are you able to use your finger to use the touchscreen when in this mode?

Thanks in advance,

Hi guys, So basically I started fresh installation on windows 10, and when I tried to pull out the tablet because this is a detachable ultrabook the tablet mode didnt went ON so here's what I already tried: Rotation Lock: ON/OFF;When i sign-in into windows-->Use the appropriate mode for my hardware; When i this device automatically switches tablet mode on/off-->don't ask and always switch;Show visual feedback when i touch the screen ON/OFF.It just continues not to work, so I thought that the intel integrated sensor solution driver would work, but it happens I don't find the one for this specific model which by the way is from Portugal,   Cheers, Alexandre Santos     Windows 10 Insider / Android Rom Tester

Is there any "tablet emulation driver" out there that could make a standard Windows 8/8.1 desktop/laptop to be recognized as a tablet? I.e. it would make the touch keyboard pops up in Store Apps.
Or will Wacom Bamboo or Intuos Pen & Touch able to convert a regular Windows 8 into tablet mode?
The reason is that I got a HTPC and would like to use the virtual keyboard in Store occassionally. The one that comes with accessibility is not as good as the one in tablet mode.

Hi

Are all devices recognized properly in device manager? Have you checked this?

As far as I know you have to install or update the Dual Touch driver. This dirver is for the Digitizer and touch screen model. It enables the functionality that the Tablet PC Pen or finger can be used as a pointing device.
You can download this driver on the Toshiba website.

Hi There,

My setup: I have a windows 8.1 with Bing tablet. I am hoping to install these into taxi's and utilize for advertising. The charger will be connected to the ignition (will be on charge) and will hopefully go into sleep mode when ignition is off (ie:
no charge). Then when car starts the unit will boot up again (being on charge again).

I am therefore trying to make the tablet sleep after ignition is turned off (unfortunately there isn't an auto power ON function in the bios otherwise i would set that). So my plan is to try and make the tablet sleep (when car turns off) and then
wake up when the car starts (i.e: starts charging).

Q1: I know about the power settings but feeling very limited with them. I cant seem to send the tablet into sleep mode when i have a video running (and after the car has turned off)- If video isnt playing then the tablet will sleep. Is there anything
i am doing wrong, can i force the tablet to sleep no matter what apps/windows are open?

Q2: When power is restored, how can i get the tablet to boot up and open/continue playing the video?

Q3: If i use sleep mode i cant put the tablet into sleep when a video is playing (If i can execute this then i can use a task schedule to start up tablet from sleep

Any ideas or additional software platforms would be appreciated.

Thanks

I like Windows. I've used Windows since 3.1. (I also worked for a company that adopted IBM OS/2... those old IBM salesmen could sell anything!). I staunchly defend Microsoft and Windows in tech discussions with Apple Fanboys and Linux nerds. I never wavered, even through Windows M/E, and Vista. I studiously avoided 8 and 8.1. But operating on the theory that MS gets it right on every other release, I decided to give Win 10 a try. My faith is wobbling badly!

I first tried upgrading my non-touch Toshiba laptop. Mehhh. While the upgrade process ran smoothly for me, and I had read enough to know what to do, it was still a bumpy experience. I hate the new (unmanageable) start menu so much, I bought Stardock's Start-10 application. Then, to be fair, I picked up a low end Asus Transformer Book (T100taf) to try the tablet mode. That is when I figured out that Windows Tablet is a cruel practical joke perpetrated by MS. I'll bet Steve Ballmer is still laughing about it. I documented my complaints in a couple of lengthy posts on my personal bog. If you are interested, here is a link http://www.larryc.com/archives/1493. It is a rant, but I didn't feel like re-typing it here and boring you if you don't care. Suffice it to say that I will NOT be upgrading my Win-7 desktop, or my wife's Win-7 laptop to Windows 10.

A few weeks back on my Surface Pro 3, I was able to view my desktop and have the tablet style on screen keyboard popup in text fields. Now if I'm in desktop mode, windows does not load the tablet style on screen keyboard when touching an input box and the keyboard icon is gone from the systray. If I'm in tablet mode, the keyboard works like it should, but I'm not able to click on a show desktop icon somewhere. Is there a way to be able to see my desktop *and* use the tablet style keyboard that auto-pops up?
Also in chrome, I am unable to click anything except the X button to close it.
So far I'm regretting my upgrade to windows 10!

Answer:After windows update I can't use tablet like on screen keyboard in desktop mode?

There is a reason why "tablet mode exists". end.... why do you want to use something like "desktop icon" when you can just put your desktop icons pinned to start screen and treat it it like the desktop for tablets it is?
what benefits are you getting from having desktop instead of using the start screen to launch apps?
I am sorry but it doesn't make sense to "regret upgrading to windows 10" only because it doesn't do what YOU want. because it's hard to understand why "omg I can't click desktop and go there, tablet mode sucks" .
if you want to access the on screen keyboard (like anyone can) just right click on the taskbar and tell Windows to always have it on taskbar. you only right click it and Show touch keyboard is there, which anyone on a laptop, desktop, touch or not touch can pin to taskbar.
if you want to use Windows on a tablet, and have access to desktop and use apps on window mode and move then around then you have to pop up the keyboard manually.
and if you want keyboard to work as it should on a tablet mode then just pin Desktop folder to start screen and access it that way if you want. or pin your desktop icons to start screen, name the group desktop and be happy.
and Chrome sucks, I don't know what "I am unable to click anything except the X button to close it." means, but Chrome is not exactly the best browser around.

Hey, been running Windows 10 with all the latest drivers. The Windows 10 traditional desktop in "Yoga laptop mode" worked great, but the laptop and Chrome were unusable under 'Yoga tablet mode'. SOLUTION:  Make sure you disable DPTF in the BIOS, as that fixed all performance issues for me. I had actually had issues with this setting before and had disabled it, but at some point I updated the BIOS and the options was enabled agian by default.  I highly recommend this.  I use Chrome and Google to manage my life and business.  Anything other than "laptop mode" was useless.  Once I disabled the DPTF setting in the BIOS, viola!!  All problems solved and changing modes works better than ever!!!!!!  To boot into BIOS, power down the yoga 2 pro.  Looking at the right side power button, notice there is a very small pin size button next to it.  With an ink pen, just press that micro button for about 3 seconds and the yoga will boot into BIOS.  The DPTF setting is under one of the tabs at the bottom of the menu.  Highlight, select "disable", then tab over to "save and reboot".  That's it!!!

Hi, I bought a Yoga 2 Pro running windows 8.1 in December 2013. The machine runs fine, but from the beginning I experience frequent system issues whenever I have the Yoga in Tablet mode (display turned to the back). The issues sometimes arise directly after I resume from tablet mode. More frequent the issues appear once I had the machine in tablet mode and after had it in suspend mode! Some of the frequent issues that arise after I resume from tablet mode:Power surge at right USB Port, where I have my mouse connected! The connected device cannot be provided with enough power. (Note, the left port still works), orWiFi not working any more (No WLAN device detected, WLAN not functional), orBluetooth not working (No Bluetooth device detected, BT not functional)All issues reliably disappear with a system restart! I have already updated my drivers, scanned the Lenovo and Microsoft forum whether this is known without success and hope this avenue will bring me more luck. What makes the bug hard to narrow down is that I do not have a recipe to reproduce the error. Not every time I turn the display in tablet mode the symptoms are equal! But what I can is that the tablet mode is the most common denominator I found so far. Any helped/suggestions much appreciated. Regards   Florian

Depends on the NIC driver. Some of them you can go into is properties and disable "allow to power off" either in the NIC properties, or in the advanced power settings. If left on, then you can use wake on lan.

"EnableBalloonTips"=dword:00000000

But that doesnt help. Is there another way to deactivate tooltips (all tooltips, startmenu tooltips)?

For example everytime I swype to the right to show setting tile and then back into the screen, start menu shows an annoying "show hidden symbols" tooltip.

Answer:Windows 10 shows annoying balloon tooltips all the time in tablet mode

Hello mkdr,

You might see if turning off tips may be able to help some.

Hello, I've owned my Yoga Pro 2 since it hit the market and have been satisfied until now.  I tried starting it this morning and there was no response except for the white circle next to the power button being illuminated.  I tried holding down the power button for ten seconds to restart: nothing on the screen.  I tried holding down the power button for 90 seconds (per research on others' successful attempts online): the white illuminated circle next to the power button illuminates to orange for about 3 seconds and then back to an illuminated white circle with nothing on the screen. The next thing I tried was plugging it into another outlet with no changes.  Finally, I tried starting it in tablet mode and it booted up. After booting up, I immediately made a backup onto an external HD as the touch screen worked and I was able to use it as a tablet.  Next, I tried to see if any other modes worked (e.g. tent, desktop, etc.) and after lifting the screen to transition less than 1/2 an inch, the screen would immediately turn black with keyboard and power buttons being ineffective.  Upon returning to tablet mode, I pushed the windows home logo on the screen and the screen popped into life.  I was able to use it in tablet mode again. Repeated attempts to return to transition to other modes resulted in a black screen after reaching the 1/2 inch mark.  Is this a wiring/hardward thing or is it a software fix?  I've uninstalled ... Answer:How do I get an auto tablet mode to work on Windows 10 on my Asus Transformer book?

Check the support section of the Asus website for updated drivers. Many 2-in-1 devices need a new driver to get Continuum working.
Additionally, if you can find a forum for your specific device, users there may be able to help.

Anyone else experience a problem with windows that are too large to view on the screen in laptop mode and won't move or zoom, and the only way to click on buttons like "print" or "save" that are outside the viewing area is to rotate to tablet mode?  This seems to happen when I'm using Citrix, but just wondered if there is some way to change screen resolution on-the-fly or master command to shrink the size of a window so it will be fully viewable on the screen, without having to switch the screen mode.

Answer:Some windows size won't change. Can only print by switching to tablet mode of x201t

That's not a tablet problem; you've probably got Windows dpi settings to 125%. It enlarges everything on the screen for the sake of netbooks. Just look for it in Control Panel.Sometimes if I hold the mouse all the way at the bottom of the screen, Windows moves the window up by itself so that the off-screen button comes back on screen. It works best if I position the window above an unused space along the Windows taskbar.Citrix is a Linux OS, right?

Hello
My Wacom tablet's pen has died and I hope to have a new one arriving in a few days but in the meantime I dug out an old Hanvon Rollick tablet which isn't supported under Windows 10 (which I use) but I nevertheless found some Windows 7 drivers for it which people reported working under Windows 10.

The problem is my PC is trying to behave like a tablet e.g. putting that blue teardrop thing on text boxes on Chrome (I'm not sure of its correct name) and when I try to ctrl-click a link, it shows a little "ctrl" label under the cursor and won't open the link in a new tab like it's supposed to and just does it in the same tab.

It takes multiple tries to right-click and open a link and when I hover over the link the cursor keeps rapidly flashing between the arrow and finger icons.

It is very difficult to click minimise, restore or close on Chrome because hovering over them doesn't make them go red and clicking on them doesn't tend to make them do anything unless you try many, many times. It's being profoundly irritating in programs other than Chrome too but those are some examples.

I was used to old my Wacom (Volito 2) trying to do tablet-like things but stopped it doing bubbles with gpedit's "turn off pen feedbac... Read more

Hello. We've got an unusual problem when applying driverpackage for lenovo x201.OSD with SCCM 2007.. The Audio driver installs successfully during OSD (with silent install switch) and in devicemanager we can see that the conexant 20585 Smart Audio HD driver has been installed. Same with "Intel screen audio". But in the Audio options in controlpanel all the fields is grayed out. There is with other words no associated soundcard / standard device. If we install the driver again, logged in as an user the recently grayed out fields in Audio options automagically now shows the correct input / output devices (Conexant audio) and the sound starts working. Is there some issue when installing drivers in SYSTEM context?Notice: There is no "?" in device manager. BR!

Greetings, My system is i7 Multitouch X230t. It was working fine from last 2 months till today when while turning my screen from laptop to Tablet configuration the touch and pen function suddenly disappeared. When trying to access the Pen and Tablet setting it gives an error " A supported tablet not found on the system".Also at the same time i noted that in my device manager a USB device is now labeled as Unknown device. I searched the net and tried everything.  Restarting. - No effectUninstalling the unknown USB device and restarting - No effectUpdating all lenovo drivers from the lenovo Site - No effect System Recovery to an earlier Date (15 days) - No effect When i Tried to update Lenovo Multitouch/pen driver from lenovo site it give error " A supported tablet not found on the system" and aborts installing the driver. I uninstalled the wacom driver ISDdrivers.exe from windows Uninstall utility and again tried to install Multitouch and pen drivers but again it says " A supported tablet not found on the system". Someone please help. I am afraid it might be a hardware issue as the problem started when i turned the screen from laptop to tablet mode. Currently My X230t is just a Laptop and NOT a TABLET as there is NO touch and NO pen input, as if windows doesn't even recognize any tablet hardware on board. PLEASE HELP. Thankyou

Answer:Help: X230t " A supported tablet not found on the system" Problem. Its not a tablet anymore

Perhaps the cable got severed when you were turning it around? I've had a Wifi antenna cable break this way on an HP tablet... If it's still under warranty have them check it and replace it if necessary. It could also be a loose connector but there's no way to be sure without opening the screen assembly.

When I use the X220 as a laptop I can duplicate the display through my SmartBoard projector but when I use it as a tablet and it is docked I have to turn the tablet and dock 180 degrees so I am not writing upside down on the smartboard;  that means the dock has the cables coming out the front.  I can undock and plug everything into the X220 but the beauty of the dock is that I don't have to!

I am currently on a Dell Venue 11 5130 with a Bay Trail Atom Z3770 and 2GB ram. While it serves the purpose of my usage of office suites and web browsing, I could use a little faster tablet. It would stutter if I have more than 5 tabs open on Edge. But there is nothing wrong with this tablet with a plenty of battery life and nothing broken after using if for close to 4 years now.
I am looking at a Dell Latitude 11 5175 tablet with a Core M3 and 4GB of ram. Is this upgrade worth it? Or should I save some more money to get the Core M5 version for around $150 more? My usage is office word, and youtube.

I have a desktop that runs Windows 8.1. My x220 tablet runs Windows 7. I was thinking about getting a wacom bamboo tablet for my art in photoshop (which I make on my desktop... x220 isn't powerful enough for what I do in photoshop). Then I realized that my x220 tablet is kind of the same thing. Is there anyway I can connect my tablet to my desktop so that when I'm using photoshop, I can use the stylus on the tablet to control what I do? Many thanks in advance.

Answer:Connecting x220 tablet to a desktop to use it like a wacom tablet with stylus

AFAIK, not easily:http://www.ersatzhaderach.com/blog/2013/02/02/turn-an-old-penabled-tablet-pc-into-a-networkable-art-...

The latest bios update of X1 Tablet (Model:20GG) breaks the sleep (or hibernation) function. I found the tablet sometimes cannot be waken up by pressing the power button after entering connected standby. The version of the flawed BIOS is1.68-1.21 (N1LUJ30W) After rolling the embedded controller version back to 1.20 (N1LUJ29W), the problem no longer exists.

hi guys i really want to try a windows 8 tablet and i plan to buy it either by the end of this month or by next January. I am confused on what to pick though
First of all, the reason why I want a windows 8 tablet IS because i like the interface. but more importantly, i need metatrader and cTrader in legacy app as im a full time forex trader. I have metatrader in my iphone but you cant seriously compare that with the windows version (no tabbing, no lines drawing, no fibonacci, etc.). cTrader doesnt even exist there.
im looking to replace my macbook pro (which btw i also installed windows 8 on it through parallels virtual desktop) with a windows 8 tablet to support my trading while im outside
So basically I dont need a super i7 tablet or something. However, im curious to know how windows 8 atom tablets perform. I have seen enough reviews and some people says atom tablets perform badly in legacy apps. Question is, how bad is that bad? Does it lag so bad even though i dont need to run heavy apps like adobe? I only need to run these trading apps which btw are very light. You can compare them with MS paint i believe, just with constant connection.
would it do well in atom tablets? I dont want lags when i switch from win8 native apps to metatrader and cTrader.
next question - how does windows 8 tablet on-screen keyboard work with legacy apps? Would i have special gesture to show up the on-screen keyboard or it automatically appears when i touch the screen? I personally dont believe ... Read more

I have an IBM ThinkPad X41 that was issued to me from work. I would like to reinstall the operating system to get rid of all the garbage that's on it. But, they don't have the CD's that came with the laptop. The COA on the bottom of the X41 is for WinXP Pro Tablet Edition. But, I don't have a copy in the office and they can't find it anywhere. Should I install Windows XP Professional on it or should I somehow contact IBM for the CD's to be reissued?

Any ideas???

Thanks!

I'm new to the Tablet community but excited to venture into it.  My workplace provided me with an X201 Tablet type 2985 model C5U.  The pen works great but I can emulate any of the finger/touch demos.  Is this not supported with my type or model?  Or do I need a special driver.  When I open the tablet PC settings, I'm given the option to identify my screen as PEN or TOUCH.  While I select TOUCH, no finger combination (one or two) that presses my screen will invoke anything.  I was hoping this would be a touch solutoin albeit more powerful than the iPad.  Appreciate your responses everyone. Thank you. L

welcome to the forum!

the 2985-C5U model has a pen-only outdoor-viewable display.   it does not support touch input.
