I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Windows 10 64bit can't working with my laptop

Hi, you only need a 64bit OS when you have more than 4Gb RAM - or if you plan to add more RAM of course.

Perhaps your thinking about 2.89Gb comes from part of your RAM being shared with a video card, or used by integrated graphics.

For example see

I have had a massive HDD failure. I found a spare 250Gb and installed a copy of windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on it. Sadly I don't own windows 8 or 8.1 that my laptop was designed for. So my question is ther anyway to get drivers for this laptop using 7 64bit os? I know I can get the amd apu driver via amd.com but not sure about the rest. Most important one is my wireless and USB 3.0 drivers. But all would be best. I have looked in official drivers but only 8 and 8.1 drivers made for this computer. And as old as it is this is my only option for looking for help. thanks in advance, Alice

Answer:Can I get Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit working on a G7 Laptop?

Try the Windows 7 drivers for the 455 G1 which uses the same processor series and chipset. You will find the AMD chipset and USB 3.0 at least http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5359416&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4059 If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

IE 10 app not connecting to the internet I can connect when i go to the desktop with no problems at all but once i switch to the apps part of windows 8 and click on the internet explorer app it dosn't connect any help please.

thanks.

Answer:Windows 8 64bit IE 10 app not working

1. when you switch to apps - from desktop by pressing windows key on keyboard.
DO YOU have IE on your start menu
OR are you then right clicking on a blank area and clicking on all apps and then opening from there

2.When you say it does not connect - is that a message, as depending on how it has been used it only opens on a blank screen, but at the bottom you should see the IE symbol and the bar

Please see my screenshot - that bar is at the bottom of the page I have copied and pasted only the bar

Hi,

Just got into the flavour of windows 7 for a couple of days and I'm lovin' it.

Now, I installed Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus 64 bit on my system. Then I tried to use the Mathtype plugin 6.6a, but I cannot make it to work.

What I've done so far:

1. Installed MS Office 2010 Professional Plus 64bit successfully.
2. Installed Mathtype 6.6a successfully.
3. Copied the following files in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\STARTUP
C:\Program Files\Math Type\MathPage\MathPage.wll
C:\Program Files\Math Type\Office Support\MathType Commands 6 For Word.dotm
C:\Program Files\Math Type\Office Support\WordCmds.dot
What is the error I am getting?

1.When I open MS Word, there is a macro warning (as usual) and when I "Enable Content", the following error screen pops up:

2. When I press "OK", I get the following error screen:

3. The "Help" button shows me the following windows7 help:

Is it possible to integrate the add-in to the MS Office 2010?

Answer:MathType add-in not working for 64bit MS Office 2010 64bit

We at Design Science are working on 64-bit office compatibility for MathType. However, the current version is not recommended for use with Office 2010. More importantly, Microsoft doesn't even recommend installing 64-bit Office, even on 64-bit Windows, unless you really, really need it. See 64-bit editions of Office 2010.

I just downloaded Combofix and ran it. I got an error saying that I was running Windows 2000 and the software could not work on Win2K.  i am currently running Window 8.1 with all updates on a Lenovo ideapad with Core i7-4500u CPU @ 1.8Gig and 8G of memory. When I run Malwarebytes then HitMan Pro, neither finds any problems. However, my Browser Chrome Version 39.0.2171.71 m, is running extremely slowly which is usually a sign of it being hijacked. Hence my decision to try and run Combofix. Can anyone out there help me diagnose what's wrong with my laptop? Just let me know what files to upload. Rick York

Dear Community I have a brand new W540 with Windows 8.1 running. Some Fn-Keys are working, for example Fn+F2 for the volume. Can you change brightness in the Power control panel?
1.  from the start screen, type "Power Options"
2.  click on Power Options
3.  At the bottom of this window, should be a slider control to change the screen brightness.  Is it there?  Does it work?

Hi everyone,

Im new here and registered because i am at a total loss

I recently aquired Windows 7 Installation cd and tried to install it o n my CPU:

Processor: AMD Athlon x2 2.60 GHz
Motherboard: Biostar A690M2+
VGA: Sapphire Radeon HD 4670
GRAM: 2x 2GB RAM

Now the problem is that the 32bit version of windows 7 works flawless with my system but the 64bit just wont work with my HD 4670...

I found out that its the HD 4670 because i tried installing windows 7 64bit with minimal RAM and onboard VGA. Then i put the pieces together 1 by 1 and booted windows to test which piece was the culprit...
After i put the HD 4670 in for the first time Windows 7 64Bit boots normally, but once it recognizes the VGA and installs a driver, after i reboot it hangs at the startup and gives me a Bluescreen with an unreadable error message, its unreadable because it rebooots too fast for me to actually read the Bluescreen message

I tried booting in safemode and disabling the HD 4670 in device manager, using driver sweeper and then installing the newest drivers but same result, after i reboot windows would restart itself on startup and give me Bluescreen

Pls note that it works fine in 32bit and that im a total CPU noob so pls refrain from any shortterms

Thanks in Advance

Hi,

After months of patience and following the drivers-info on the Toshiba website,i found it was time to replaced my Vista32 Ultimate with Windows7 Ultimate. It seemed that all drivers now have a 64bit version working under Windows 7, the missing drivers/software could be replace with the Vista 64bit versions. Unfortunately i got some problems with the TOSHIBA PCI DVB-T/Analog TV Hybrid Tuner.

Just searched a couple of ours for a sollution to the TOSHIBA PCI DVB-T/Analog TV Hybrid Tuner (x64) problem with Windows 7. In hardware manager it shows an yellow triangle with an exclamation mark, telling me that there is a problem with the device. Via properties i get an error with code(39).

I have downloaded the drivers from the Toshiba website which returns the following files:
tisdbt1a64.cab
TISDBT1A64.inf
TISDBT1A64.sys
and an additional 'setISDBTDriverParameters'-regkey.

1) When i try to replace the drivers by via the properties in devicemanager, i get a message back that the best drivers are already installed and there is no better driver found.

2) Install manually
There are no instructions to install the downloaded files, nor the regkey. When i try to install the 'inf' file with rightclick, i get a installationerror the the selected inf-file does not suppoert this installationmethod.

3) When i try to use 'install old hardware', the system ends in blue screen when driver is selected and installed. After booting the system again falls into blue scr... Read more

Hello,

I have a peculiar problem with aero peek. It sometimes just decides not to work anymore, and only shows labels instead of a preview. This is only temporary, because when I switch between other windows, the aero peek is activated again. I actually reproduced this behavior by switching to this post, and writing for 1-2 minutes. Hovering now only produced labels/tooltips. By switching to another window, aero was "activated" again.

I have tried the "Find and fix problems with transparency and other visual effects", but Windows couldn't find any problems

My friend has bought a new laptop today and it comes with a 64bit windows 7 home premium. But the RAM is 2gb DDR3. As much I heard that 64bit requires 4+ Gb RAM. Is it okay to run in 2Gb? Though he said his netbook which has 32bit windows is slightly faster than this.
And also the laptop HDD has no partition.

Answer:64bit windows in new laptop.

A 64-bit version of Windows requires a minimum of 2GB of RAM, the benefits of a 64-bit OS do not really kick in until 4GB or higher however.

Fn F9  done the camera is still not ON but icon says on. Reinstalled the Youcam software twice, but issue remains "Camera to be switched on". Please advise.

Answer:Ideapad U310 Windows 7 64bit, YouCam not working

hi vtrakroo,

The Lexmark X422 that you're seing is likely the scanner from your Lexmark printer (the built-in camera should usually be listed as Lenovo Easy Camera or similar)
  - Sample image

Things that you can try:
1. Boot into the BIOS by pressing F2 (or Fn+F2). In the BIOS, press F9 (or Fn+F9) to load setup defaults then press F10 (or Fn+F10) to save and exit.
    - this procedure will refresh all hardware components in the system

2. Inside Windows, check if you have an Unknown Device in the Other Devices section. If you have this, follow this guide on how to identify the device (or post the Hardware ID here)
    - Sample image

3. Reinstall the camera driver
   - Camera Driver (Bison, Chicony, Awazu) for Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit)

Let me know how it goes.

Today i updated my Windows 7 laptop to the Windows 10 Home 64bit OS. Everything seems to work fine, except the WIFI. Windows does find my adapter, but won't wake it up. My built-in wifi button (f12) has got a red light on it, even when I pressed it. I tried the Windows 8 wireless button driver, but i didn't solve my problem. With that driver installed the button switches between airplanemode on/off. Not between WIFI. Also in the WIFi settings wifi turn off. When I try to switch it on, it directly turns back to "off". Wired internet works flawless. I gues it's an driver issue, so i was wondering if there is an driver upcomming? Or is there another solution to switch it on.Please help me. It's very annoying.

Just picked up a Corsair Voyager GT 16GB USB 3.0

Plugged it into USB 3.0 port, my Intel Win8 PC did not like it, just said there was a problem with the device. Managed to solve the problem on Intel Win8 pc by installing some Renesas USB3.0 drivers.

However, I have the same issue on my new AMD build (see sig) also using Win8 64bit too. The renesas drivers do not work as that motherboard does not use renesas usb 3 controller. I tried one or two others as well, including an old Win7 one for AMD boards with no luck.

Have flashed the BIOS to latest version, and installed latest drivers and firmware for it - well kind of, you have to run the Setup.exe for the Gigabyte F2X85A motherboard in Windows 7 compatibility mode, if I try and run normally, it says O/S not supported!

Very shoddy Win8 support for some chipset and USB drivers. But if anyone can find a solution i'd be VERY happy.

I aldready posted this elsewhere on the forums, but then noticed that topic was located it was in the Tutorials section. Since it's pretty urgent to me I also created this topic.

Recently I upgraded from Win7 x86 to x64 (professional), but I can't get Windows Mail to work. I got a copy of a working 64bit version (from another computer) of Windows Mail but it won't work on my system, giving this error: 0x8007000E. I Googled it dozens of times but can't get to a solution, most of the results are related to Vista, 32bit and/or other software applications.

My housemate also has a Win7 64bit system, so I already tried copying my Windows Mail to his computer to see if it's corrupt or something alike, but it's not. It totally works on his computer.

Somewhere I found the solution of locating another MSOERES.dll elsewhere on the computer (C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-m..-core-dll.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_en-us_2cea88b0c19dd22e) and placing it in the Windows Mail folder. I was very happy to see it actually launched the application, BUT.. There are no icons whatsoever and some text styling isn't correct:

I copied the whole Windows Mail folder again, placed it on my mate's computer, but with the same result. So this is probably due to MSOERES.dll. But with using the one that SHOULD work, I get the 0x8007000E error.

Does anyone have an idea about how to solve this? I really want it to work the way it should 'cause I know it's possible, as... Read more

Can you tell us how you got Windows Mial on Windows 7? According to this Windows Mail isn't included with Windows 7 - Looking for Windows Mail? You'll have to use Windows Live Mail.

I know I don't have Windows Mail on my system, I do however have Live Mail, though I don't use it.

Am I missing something?

Actaully why can't you just use Live Mail? Doing the hack and crack thing with Windows Mail isn't going to work too well as you've seen.

I am new to this forum and looking for some opinions. I recently built a new desktop and installed Win 7 64bit and it was a walk in the park. So now I am going to upgrade the wife's laptop. It is a HP Pavilion zv6270us. It has a Athlon 64 3500+ at 2.0GHz with 2GB DDR PC2700 Cl 2.5 333mhz memory. I dual booted Win 7 RC 64bit to test and had a few driver problems since HP won't support this unit for Win 7. I was able to use some Vista drivers with a hack to get the sound working. Only thing not working is the Fax Modem which I never use. We use the laptop for E-Mail, Web browsing and wife is addicted to "Bejeweled 2" which runs fine under Win 7 64.
I was thinking of installing Win 7 32bit and wondering if 64bit was worth the effort as far as bootup time and performance. I was thinking 32bit might have better drivers and might even perform better.
All opinions welcome and thanks in advance.

Jim

Answer:Windows 7 64bit or 32bit on old Laptop

Hello Jim, Welcome!

I would strongly recommend using the 32 bit version. Besides having better driver compatibility, it uses less resources. It is misunderstood that 64-bit is faster. Long story!

The only reason to go x64 is if you have 4GB or more of RAM. 32-bit cannot address more than 4GB, but in practice, it will only address about 3.5GB.

does anyone one know if my OEM license that will have will some how allow me to install a 64 bit version of windows and then use the same key as i have allready for 32 bit windows seven to activate? or will likely i need to buy a new key for 64 bit.

When going from 43bit to 64bit you have to do a clean install. I dont think The 32 bit OEM key you have will work for 64bit OEM>

I recently upgraded my T410 from Windows 7 64 bit to Windows 10 64 bit.  My Series 3 docking station worked great under Windows 7.  However, it is NOT functioning properly with my upgrade to Windows 10 64 bit. I see the BIOS startup as I did before under Windows 7, but then I see a black screen with only the cursor.  I can move the cursor on the black screen but the screen NEVER changes from black.  I am have the Intel integrated graphics with driver version 8.15.10.2900 dated 11/26/2012. In advance I appreciate the assistance as I can't work at my desk with my 24" monitor!

Answer:T410 with Windows 10 (64bit) not working with Series 3 Docking Station

For me it seems, than Windows 10 Pro will work well (under the black desktop).I could see the Win10-Taskbar, Select Startmenu, Run Programs but complete Desktop will be black.Cursor will shown, called Windows-Programms are shown and working well on all 3 connected screen.I could even click somewhere on the black area, where my desktop icons should be, I could start programs from the desktop too.If I switch the Windows-Design to other designs or other backgrounds, I could see the selected picture for half a second but then it will be immediately "overdrawn" by the black background ??? If I disable T410-LCD and use only my 2 by docking station connected external monitor, the Windows 10 Desktopbackground will be handled normal, without any problems. Probably someone will have a solution for me.Thanks in advance.dm01

Hi there! I've trouble with standby on my X121e (AMD E-450 platform). Hibernation works well, but standby doesn't work at all. If I start the X121e to resume from standby, I will either get error messages about almost every single program crashing (something with violation in address soandso) or it will reboot immediately. If I don't powercycle after this, Keyboard and Mouse won't work (altough at least I can use the keyboard in the Windows "F8" boot menu). Im running a pretty straightforward Windows 7 64bit installation and the Lenovo Solution Centre tells me that everything is up to date and OK. I'm also running the latest BIOS firmware, which should be 1.15 Oh, and the system is configured as EFI if that matters. What can I do to make standby work again? Regards  Steffen

Hi,
I have upgraded my new laptop from Vista to Win7 64 bit, however the function keys do not work and the function keys that display at the top when you press FN does not show anymore. I have installed Utilities and Value Added Package but no success. Any help is apperciated.

Note To Toshiba Team:
Why don't you package all necessary drivers and software in one package after testing them, based on computer model for example in my case Satellite A350-13A, you could make one package for Win7x64 another for Win7x32, etc, instead of leaving us spending days to figure out what to install and where to find it and if it will work or not. Awaiting your feedback.

Answer:Satellite A350-13A Windows 7 64bit Function Keys not working

Hi

You need to install the Flash Card support utility additionally to the VAP!!!
The Flash Card support Utility can be found in Satellite L500 driver area for example.
After installation if Flash Card support Utility reboot the unit once again and then check the functionality.

What I found is an intermittent problem with windows paste (ctrl-v) stops working within all applications and even between applications. It turns out that if I stop or restart Internet Explorer 8, then I can cut and paste again normally. After running Internet explorer again for an hour or two or even a day or two, the problem re-occurs, and again I have to close internet explorer.

I use various applications putty, xming, notepad++, firefox, internet explorer 8, outlook 2010, toad, office 2010 all running on Windows 7 64bit and I restart my PC every 4 or 5 days. Our PC's are regularly patched and have the latest updates and have virus protection.

Has anyone else noticed this cut and paste problem with Windows 7 64bit and Internet Explorer ?

Hi there,

I was wondering if I could please get some help in figuring out why I am getting Blue Screen's of Death
Laptop Details:Laptop Type: Toshiba Satellite L500/013 (this exact model is not that common, it is fairly new)
Bought from Dick Smith 2 week ago
Operating System: Windows 7 - 64 bit OEM (came pre-installed, along with all of Toshiba's programs)
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T6600, 2.2Ghz
Video card: ATI Radeon HD4650 (Mobility)
Memory: 4GB, 800Mhz DDR2
Hard Disk Drive: 500GB
Antivirus/Firewall: ZoneAlarm Free Basic Firewall (The Laptop came with a free 60-day trial of Norton pre-installed, I have however removed it as I don't like it very much. I have also disabled windows firewall as this can clash with ZoneAlarm)

Information about the blue-screens:They usually occur once per day, but twice today - within 10 minutes of each other, however only in the last 7 days (possibly coinciding with the ZoneAlarm install)
7 blue-screens have occurred in total so far (according to Event Viewer)
They usually occur when I am away from the laptop (just nearby using my desktop), leaving it open for whatever reason and I notice the laptop blue-screen then restart in my peripheral
I have updated the drivers for my laptop on the mytoshiba website (including the BIOS), my laptop's model number is PSLS3A-01301D
I have included the files from the C:\Windows\Minidump folder (saved as "minidumps.zip")
I have also included the files jcgriff2 requested be made (saved as "Wind... Read more

Answer:BSOD on Toshiba Laptop, Windows 7, 64bit - please help

There are issues with your Shrew Soft device. I've seen several issues with this program over the last couple of weeks - so I recommend uninstalling it.

Also, go into your Device Manager and uninstall all the Teredo Tunneling Adapter's that are showing problems. When you reboot the system they'll be reinstalled if they're needed.

There is no MSINFO32.exe report in the uploads, please generate that report, zip it up, and upload it with your next post.

The memory dumps point to ntkrnlmp.exe - which is the kernel (core) of the operating system. If it truly was at fault, then you'd be having more problems than just the occasional BSOD.

Please run Driver Verifier according to these directions to help identify the faulty driver:

Quote:

Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows. If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

So, I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter

Hi there!

I have an existing windows 7 installation with lots of my programs installed over it.
I got a new laptop and would like to copy over my existing windows over to new laptop.

The laptops differ in h/w specs. Which means drivers of existing windows will fail to load correctly on new laptop. Keeping this in mind, whats my best bet to move this over.

Is their a way to strip off all drivers from my existing windows 7 install and keep all my program installation intact?

Edit: Ignoring the licensing issue right now. I would like to know is it technically possible.
Edit: I read this guide: Windows 7 Installation - Transfer to a New Computer but I belive its not applicable to my scenario because h/w differs.
Thanks!

Answer:Clone windows 7 ultimate 64bit to new laptop

Unfortunately, no. Especially because of the license keys. You can though, with the windows installed on the other pc, You could use windows 7 easy transfer mode.
Windows Easy Transfer - Microsoft Windows

Keep in mind this will not transfer programs. It will transfer their data and settings, as well as your personal files though.
You will need to re-install your programs ether way.

Unless, this is just a guess, but you could possibly do the system image and copy it over, then change the licence key to match the new one on the new pc.....but I do not think that will work. As the key will probably not work since it is most likely a retail key.

Just installed XP 64 bit from XP 32 because i finally got tired of windows only recognizing 2GB of RAM. I have just discovered the multi card reader no longer works (it worked just a few days ago with the 32 bit xp).i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver (6hss03ww.exe - Ricoh Multi Card Reader Driver) several times, with no luck.i do not have any uninstalled drivers, or highlighted items in the device manager. Has anyone else ever has this issue, or can offer some advice? i am a bit at a loss... and ready to dump this thing out the window and buy a mac...

Hi All, I just got Lenovo T420 Last week with Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit OS. Unfortunately internal microphone array does not work. I already tried installing  latest Audio driver for Conexant 20672 SmartAudio HD from Lenovo Support Site. Driver  8.32.23.5 . Still no luck. Refereed one of blog article where they mentioned to disable Audio Enhancement, unchecked that and still no luck. Tried with Skype, Google Voice, Cisco WebEx Communicator, IP Communicator and no luck in getting internal Microphone to work. Also tried sound recorder and all recordings are blank. There are lot of users who are facing this problem with Lenovo T420 Win 7 64Bit OS, not many users have time to come forward to discuss the same. Trying an alternative solution like plugging in an external mic or using usb headphones is not an option. Internal speakers work fine. If external mic is plugged in even that works fine. to isolate this issue. I even tried downgrading and upgrading several audio driver releases. also tried clean OS reinstall and tried deploying our Win 7 Lenovo image on this laptop. still no luck. I suspect this could be an hardware problem. Please suggest. Remember: I have already tried settings under Fn+F6 key several times using permutation and combination and spent atleast 8 Hours continuously to find a fix. Any known solution, Hotfixes from Lenovo is highly appreciated.

Hi All, As an update I also tried loading windows 7 Pro 32Bit and internal microphone still fails on this model. I also just now tried loading Ubuntu 10.10 Live and internal mic does not take any input. Looks like its a hardware issue and needs replacement. Please let me know if any one has come accross this problem.

Tried to install Acronis in the RTM 64 bit version of Windows 8 and got an error message that it was not compatible with Windows 8.
The same version worked with the Release preview and on checking with Acronis Support they say it will not work with Eight and they are working on a solution.
They should have had something working bye now as they have had a lot of time to develop something.
I am very upset that I paid for something that does not work and will have to go to the free Macrium backup software so that I can get an Image of my new install

hi to all,
I have a shutdown problem since one year ago when I changed my 32 bit windows seven to 64 bit. I need 64 bot windows to be able using all of my laptop ram capacity. but just when run academic softwares (MATLAB and HeuristicLab), and increasing RAM and Cpu usage to more than 90%, my laptop turns off without any warning but not immediately, it turns black for about one secound and then turns off.
I explained this with more details last year in this post. you can see results of some tests there.
it's not a thermal issue as explained in post above.
last year I reinstalled my 64 bit windows and the problem gone temporarily (I guess it was result of having much less programs an RAM usage) but after few days it occurred again.
last year I thought it was a HeuristicLab bug, but now it occurs again on MATLAB but I detect some new information about it.
First off all shut down occurs just when I am using parallel computing in both softwares (it never happens in daily works or on other softwares). my laptop cpu has two core and four threads, in MATLAB parallel have some controls, when I activate two workers and run the code, two of threads are idle in task manager and laptop never turns off even if I run the code for more than 50 hours; but when I use four workers, MATLAB uses all threads and more RAM and problem occurs again
I don't know this happens when I use more than 90% of RAM usage or CPU usage and why it happens.
I would be very thankful for any suggestions and help.

If you are connecting the win 7 machine via "homegroup" it has been known to have problems on certain systems.

To test you can crate a new connection using the "workgroup" model instead.
Let us know if that doesnt help

I am a novice in the IT world, was getting engaged and changed my password to get into my laptop b/c I had pics of the ring. Well the password I picked is pretty good b/c I locked myself out of my laptop. I have tried everything with no luck.

I purchased Windows Password Unlocker for $50 and it is not working at all ...

So my questions are:

- Is Windows Password Unlocker crap or am I just doing something wrong?
- Are there any other options so I can be able to log into my laptop and not have to wipe it clean?

Thank you in advance for your help!

hi,

I have bought a new HP 64bit laptop with windows & preinstalled. yesterday i had the blue screen of death - on restarting it goes to blue screen again. I was advised to run with F10 and left the pc to do its own thing for 2 hours, with no results. also ran the hard drive scan with no results. following reboot, i hadnt restored the original settings as my software links were still on the desktop. couldnt get as far as running HP troubleshoot

my error codes were:
0x000000F4 ( 0X0000000000000003, 0XFFFFFA8006842B30, 0XFFFFFA8006842E10, 0XFFFFF80002F7E240 )

ive seen that the code of 0x000000F4 is usually fixed by running a registry check, but dont know what the other codes are. my issue is that i cant get as far as the internet and running the registry check as my pc keeps crashing

it first crashed with blue screen on running Skype, but ive had no blue screen issues before. 'my expat tv' file crashed it once, but with no blue screen

am working in the US for 4 months and if i dont have my laptop am going to go postal - please help me?

thanks

cblackwe,
Help me out here.
If you simply boot your laptop and do not try to connect to the internet, run any games, in fact, don't try do do anything, then does the laptop boot successfully and not blue/black screen/freeze?

I realize that the the laptop is simply a small room heater but then we will have an indication than unstressed and unbothered that your laptop is functioning.

Hi, i have just bought a sandisk 64gb extreme pro sdxc memory card for my camera, it works fine in the camera and saves pics to it, but every time i open it in windows it tells me i have to format the card, when i do format it, it goes through the whole process and then tells me the operation cannot complete.

I know the card is formatted as exfat, does windows 7 not support this?

my laptop uses windows 7 64bit.

Can anyone please advise as i am not sure how i am going to get any pictures in the future onto my laptop.

Hey everyone! I just downloaded the 64bit version of Windows Developer Preview without the dev tools last night, burned it to a dvd this morning, and installed it next to Windows 7 and Windows XP on my Gateway NV59c laptop.

It works well. It detected all my hardware and it all seems to be working right out of the box. Better than what Windows 7 produced. It even recognizes my card reader after install. In Windows 7 I had to go a download the driver for it.

I only had one BSOD. It was trying to install Avast Internet Security. It installed no problem, save for the dialogue telling me of a compatibility issue. But after restarting Windows, it would keep BSODing at boot. But after three attempts to boot, it went into recovery mode and allowed me to use system restore. So all is well!

But ya, just wanted to let you all know that it works on this laptop perfectly fine in case anyone might be wondering about a Gateway laptop.

Hello all recently my girlfriend attempted to install windows 7 64 bit home premium on my asus k55a laptop forgetting to plug the charger in and causing some kind of issue to give me the error "bootmgr is missing" press ctrl alt delete to restart. I attempted to press F8 to boot from disk which does nothing and gives me the error again. Attempted to F12 change boot orders/priority's reboot still the same issue. The disk i used i literally 10 minuites before just installed windows 7 off this disk onto my gaming system so i assume its not the disk. If anyone could assist me and guide me how to fix this issue i would really and truely highly appreciate it . Thanks so much in advance regards vibe

Answer:Bootmgr missing windows 7 64bit asus k55 laptop

The install obviously did not complete and has nothing to boot into, generating that error.

Continue with the steps to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 deleting all partitions during the booted install, creating and formatting new or clicking Next to let the installer do it for you and begin install.

Make sure to follow the steps for how drivers are handled in Win7 as it is not the same as XP.

If you stick with the tools and methods provided then you will get and keep a perfect install for as long as you do, just like a milliion others have without a single complaint.

I have a i5 laptop, 4GB ram with Windows 7 Enterprise 32 bit running on a single partition, which takes up the entire 240Gb HDD.

I would like to keep this OS, and install a second OS - W2K8R2-64 bit. (I want the W2K8R2 OS to be a nice stable area for running DJ software)

Would the best way to achieve this be to shrink the current partition, and literally just put in the W2K8R2 disc, and install it on the newly created partition? Or, am I going to run into problems? Will W2K8R2 cause problems to my current Windows 7 install?

I don't want to go the VHD route...

Any help would be much appreciated.

Answer:Windows 7 32 bit, - want to add W2K8R2-64bit to make dualboot laptop

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
I've never seen or heard of anyone having both 32 and a 64 bit system on the same machine in dual boot :/

Seems you'd have a better chance with the 64 bit installed first but would it work either way ?
Cheers.

I tried installing/reinstalling/uninstalling and then installing again, Toshiba Value Added Package and flash cards support utility. No luck...
Flash cards utility is installed: [https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3002908/Capture.PNG]
What now? :)

Laptop model: L550-15F (PSLN4E)

Also, does anyone know why a search for drivers for my model returns bluetooth stack package but my model doesn't seem to have bluetooth? :)

Answer:Satellite L550 - Flash Cards stopped working after Windows 7 64bit repair

Hi

Wait a moment, please! In which order you have installed/reinstalled the Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility? It would be interesting to know what you have done exactly.

I have used the following ?repair? order for this problem:
I uninstalled Flash Cards Support Utility and then Value Added Package. I did make a restart and cleaned the system by using CCleaner. One restart more and I installed Value Added Package firstly and then Flash Cards Support Utility. Now I did make the last restart and the FN keys started to work!

It?s important that you install the new versions for Windows 7!
That means Flash Cards Support Utility version 1.63.0.4 and VAP version 1.2.34_64. I founded both on the Toshiba website :)

Hi there, I have a G580 notebook with Windows 8.1 64bit installed. I have recently noticed that the SD Card Reader is not working or appearing in Device Manager. When I insert a card into the reader nothing happens. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the card reader driver downloaded from Lenovo support and also from Realtek but nothing changes. I have scanned for new hardware and also ticked "Show hidden devices" in Device Manager and still nothing appears. I have another G580 notebook with Windows 10 installed and the card reader works fine but I do not want to update this notebook to Windows 10.

Answer:G580 Windows 8.1 64bit SD Card Reader not working/appearing in Device Manager

Do you have any "unknown devices" listed or showing in device manager?  If you do, right click and choose properties then look at Hardware ID and google it.

You can try resetting the BIOS by removing the battery and AC adapter then holding down the power button for 30 seconds.  Re-install the battery and AC adapter then power the system on to see if your device shows up.

Hi all, I have a brand new Sony S Series 15 SVS151290X that I recently bought and it came with Windows 8. I removed the internal HDD and replaced it with a fresh Samsung Series 830 256Gb SSD. The SSD is recognized as it show in BIOS. I'd like to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit onto it. I have an ISO image of the Windows installation DVD disk and created a bootable USB installation flash drive. I followed the instructions to modify it so that the UEFI Bios will recognize it. I alsotried installing it directly from the Windows installation DVD (the laptop also has a DVD drive). In both cases I'm unable to install Windows, a message shows NO Operating system found. I tried changing the UEFI boot option in BIOS to "LEGACY" and the installation will proceed but it will install Windows 7 32 bit and not 64 bit. I spent hours making all kinds of mods to the USB stick without success. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

Answer:Need help/Unable to install Windows 7 64bit in Sony Vaio Laptop

Unplug all other HD's and peripherals, if you want to install in UEFI mode follow Downgrade Windows 8 to Windows 7.

If not, boot into BIOS setup to enable Legacy BIOS if present. Next check BIOS Boot order for an EFI Boot Disk and if present remove it, set DVD drive first to boot, HD second. Then set SATA controller to AHCI. Save changes and Exit.

Then boot into installer DVD or flash stick burned or written using tool and latest ISO for your licensed OS version here.

At first installer screen Press Shift + F10 to open a Command Box, type:

DISKPART
LIST DISK
SELECT DISK 0 (after confirming Windows 7 target HD #)
CLEAN
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=102400 (for 100gb partition, adjust as desired)
FORMAT FS=NTFS LABEL="WINDOWS 7"
ACTIVE
EXIT
EXIT

Next click Install Now to Clean Install Windows 7 to the partition you created. If it fails then report back at which step and the verbatim error message.

In addition read over these steps to understand the tools and methods which work best to get and maintain a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. The steps are the same for retail.

These crashes were caused by memory corruption (probably a driver). Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!!!
1-Memtest.

*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Any errors are indicative of a memory problem.

If a known good stick fails in a motherboard slot it is probably the slot.

Hello all, I hope you are having a good day and thanks in advance for looking and potentially helping me with my problem.

I have a laptop, Lenovo Y580, that came with an HDD only and no SSD. I Installed an SSD in the optical drive and have been using windows 8 on it for a while.
I wanted to go back to Windows 7 So I used the Windows 7 USB DVD Download tool to put the Windows 7 ISO onto a USB. After some research I;

1. Switched off UEFI and switched on Legacy Support (Or I would not have been able to see it as an option to boot using Win 8's Advance Startup)
2. I attempted booting using Advance Startup however there was an error when attempting to install on the SSD:
"windows cannot be installed on this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style."

3. After searching up what to do I decided to delete the drive and "create" a new one and formatting it
3a. I also used diskpart to do this as well

4. However now it shows error 0x80300024 when trying to install

5. Solutions to this problem are

a) Remove all other drives, my other HDD - which I cannot do because I am on a laptop
b) Use Lenovo's RapidTool.exe which I am not totally familiar with but from what I know it formats and reinstalls the current drive. This would be fine if I did not format my SSD and I ran rapidtool.exe on there.
6. I used the HDD to backup my stuff from the SSD so I would not like to wipe it unless I absolutely have to.
I am stuck in a rut and would appreciate ... Read more

You don't want to remove the HDD ? Its on the bottom of the laptop and just has one screw . When you're installing Windows 7 to an SSD you would want just one drive installed .

If you decide to remove the SSD drive remove the battery first .

There are two jacks on the side of my laptop that are used for listening and a third for talking. I have a stardard headset that I bought from Radioshack that has an audio jack for speaking and listening. I plugged the jacks in all correctly but can only speak and can't listen. The audio instead of playing though my headset will play through the speakers! The headset is detected though, under the speakers and headphones category under the playback devices. I have it selected as a default for everything possible but it wont play sound through the headset itself. Occasionally the headset will play sound but this happens at random. And also when I plug the jack for LISTENING into the the 2nd jack for listening, the speakers are automatically muted somehow and I can't hear or play any sound unless I restart my laptop. Again, there are THREE (3) jacks 1: speaking 2: Listening 3: Also for listening. I tried both for listening and nothing happens. It does detect the mic for recording since audacity and skype work with the headset.

Answer:Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit laptop will not detect headphones!

Hello MrNeedsHelpAlot Welcome to the Seven Forums!

Once you hear the speakers muted then you know the right jack for the headphones has been selected and a trip into the Control Panel>Sound section is next. Why? When going to set the sound for headphones the default playback device has to be changed from speakers to headphones and you can right click to test to see if the sound is heard while still in the CP.

You'll this is commonly seen when going to use any messenger or live vioce chat option where the speakers are muted and replaced temporarily by the head set. Simply plugging them in won't get you anywhere on it's own. And one of those two audio jacks is intended for external speakers not headphones apparently and why the speakers are muted on the spot.

Hi all,

I have a Samsung Chronos series 7 laptop running windows 7 64 bit.

Everything was running smoothly until Thursday morning when the following behaviour started:

Windows loads fine, and I can connect to the internet, work, run anti virus and root kit programs and so on, but eventually the computer always freezes. This usually starts when I've been using one program for a while and try to run another by clicking an icon on the task bar. The icon activates to indicate the program is launching but then disappears. Eventually the task bar/start bar freezes up, the program I'm running stops responding, I can't open the task manager and I have to reboot by holding down the power button. Even if I start the computer and don't do anything at all, it eventually freezes.

This behaviour doesn't manifest in safe mode

I've tried scanning with Malwarebites and Malwarebytes root kit detector, sophos virus removal tool, Bit defender boot kit, TDSSkiller, but haven't found anything. I even had a look with GMER and Hijack this but couldn't find anything that looked suspicious, but I'm not an expert and didn't really know what I was looking at - don't worry, I didn't try to remove/change anything.

The night before this started I was rooting through some old external hard drives I have looking for some data - perhaps one of these has malware on it?

Many many thanks for your help,

Manda Hararo

We need tons more info.

First can you go into event viewer (type eventvwr in search)

Go to the windows log>application tab.

Look for critical errors (they have red in the left hand column) that say app hang, app crash, or anything relevant to the problem
When you find them note the event ID and source codes and relay them to us.

In order to rotate the screen I have to right click on the desktop and choose graphic properties/rotation.Interestingly if I press the tablet buttons while in tablet mode and then rotate the screen up to notepad mode within a few seconds the button will perform its function (rotate screen, activate tablet shortcut menu, etc). Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I've tried running system update (4.0) to no avail. Cheers

what do you guys think, anybody have gone from vista x64 to xp 64? it seems like a logical thing to do since vista x64 still have bugs. at least i can address my 8gb of ram. would you or have you done it?

Answer:windows xp 64bit edition vs vista 64bit

I think I read your post backward. I thought you were asking if anyone had upgraded from XP x64 to Vista X64. Which I have done, although I differ from you -- I haven't had any issues.

I have a Dell Xps/410, running Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit. Intel Q6600 2.4GHz. processor, Nvidia 8600GTS 256 video card with 250 Gb. SATA II hard drive and Creative audio.
Everytime I try to install the WIndows 7 BETA version it doesn't recognize the CD. I have made the CD-ROM first priority in the system's BIOS but it still doesn't work. Anyone have any suggestion? Would this happen to have something to do with my system being a DELL?
Or maybe I should consider wiping the hard drive first and then trying to install Windows 7 version.

Answer:IE9 64bit not working

Something worth trying:Start>type Turn Windows in the search box. From the list that appears under Control Panel, click on 'Turn Windows features on or off'
turn off IE9 and reboot. Then, re-enable İE9 and reboot again.Disabling re-enabling is done by removing and then re-checking the checkmark in the box.

Lesson learnt from this,ALWAYS create system restore points before any downloads/installs/updates.(İ don't always follow my own advise mind you

If you do not want to use this method for any reason, the second link will provide you with a detailed 'how-to'. The second tutorial will also provide you with a microsoft download 'fix it' if you are interested in that download instead.

Hey Guys n Girls,

I've had this issue for about 2 weeks now and i'm getting to the end of my tether here
I've spent way too much money on this machine and to be honest.. I just want it to work :'(
I even bought a new CPU because the guys at MSY said if I bought a new CPU the sound would work. But you guessed it.. It didnt, so yes I did waste $216.
Anyway enough about me whinging, wheres that going to get us?
So save me typing it all out here i'll do a bit of a copy paste from another forum I've tried for help (with no luck) Feel free to see what they have said and what hasn't worked:
(I'm Andy88)
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum....cfm?t=1695358

-------------------
Ive installed all the software that came with my motherboard and its RealTek sound drivers, on screen it says that its playing, that sound is coming through my speakers.. yet when i plug my speakers in its just a static sound.. (crackling popping - Some sound is getting through though very low sound under the snap crackle pop)

---
I'm running 5.1 Logitech sound system from my old computer (works fine), but with my new computer i've tryed all the plugs (yes I know they are colour coded Green[Front Speakers] Orange[Center / Sub] Black[Rear])
But for some reason it just comes out as static & when i plug my headphones in, same deal.
---

Answer:Audio / Sound not working - W7 64bit

Uninstall the RealTek in the Device Manager, DO NOT uninstall the drivers, then restart the PC and when Windows starts it should detect and reinstall the sound. If there was a corrupted status in Windows this will fix it. This also fixes a lot of flakey problems and may take care of yours.

I notice four NVIDIA entries, you should only have one of those for the NVIDIA HDMI Audio. You may have to unintall all of them and then restart the PC to get them straightened out where only one NVIDIA audio is shown.

With the four NVIDIA, although you have the RealTek set as default playback device, it suggests corruption in the sound devices and the uninstall, restart may clear this up.

Hi there,

I've looked over the forums and google but I really can't find anything that is exactly like my situation.

I was editting a pdf with Nitro PDF and I got the blue physical memory dump screen and a restart. After the restart, 'windows problem center has stopped working' followed by a couple other start-up programs. I then go to access IE and I get the 'not connected to the internet' screen (which I am connected) followed by 'IE has stopped working' when I close it. This happens (stopped working error) when I close a list of programs like iTunes, my virus scanner but not Acrobat Reader or Microsoft Word.

I am wondering if anyone has a solution or can tell me what information/tests (whichever I'm able to run) I can do to provide you with more information.

Cheers!

Answer:Vista 64bit '..has stopped working' - HELP!

Sorry, I'd like to add that I've had this problem once before and a simple system restore worked. That is not the case this time- a system restore does nothing.

Whenever I open the "My Videos" library which is linked to a Movies folder on an encrypted drive the explorer crashed.

Only then but reproduceable.
It worked fine for the first few days.
I can still get to sub directories if I type in the path directly.
The page loads even with thumbnails but then crashes.
I have 64bit RC1

Does anyone have an idea what this might be?

Edit:
Ahh, windows now shows me a problem with the ffdshow codec. Tried to update it to beta 6 but didnt help. But maybe thats because I dont have a clue what to select in the install dialog. I just dont understand codec stuff.

Answer:Explorer stopped working (64bit RC1)

Uninstall the ffdshow codec and see if that fixes it.

SO close! Help me get this ball across the goal line!

I have a old "Microtek ScanMaker E3" scsi flatbed scanner that originally came with an ISA scsi interface (to give you some idea of how old it is). I connected it to my PC using a equally ancient Tekram 390F pci SCSI card (c.1995) that I've been using with 32bit WinXP Pro for years.

The scanner has an 8-1/2" x 14" scanning bed, 9600dpi and 48bit color reproduction. It works great and I see no reason to spend a few hundred dollars to replace it just for Win7 compatibility, so I'm trying to get it to work with the 64bit version of Windows 7.

To complicate things, the company that made my SCSI card (Tekram) went out of business years ago, so the 32bit XP driver was the last they made. But after MUCH Googling, I found a 64bit Win7 compatible driver for another card using the same chipset, and low & behold, Windows 7 recognized it! It then "detected" my scanner for the first time, but didn't have a driver.

Again, after much searching, I found a Vista 64bit version of Microtek's "ScanWizard" scanner software with 64bit driver, and now 64bit Windows 7 detects my scanner! Yeah!

But when I try to access the scanner, I get an error telling me I "must install Color Matching System first" for the scanner to work. I don't remember any such software being needed to use the scanner with XP, and there is no such program in the ScanWizard software... Read more

Answer:Almost got my old scanner working w/Win7 64bit

That Microtek ScanMaker E3 scsi flatbed scanner ... didn't even work well with Windows XP... and the cost in time and components to attempt to make it work are much higher than a decent Canon or Epson scanner which can be had fof $40... Less if used...

On what system are you runny SCSI ?

After upgrading to Win 10 on both my PC & HP laptop, folder sharing worked even with my wife's Mac. Oddly, now the only one that works is PC to Mac. All folder sharing fails between my PC & HP laptop.

I've checked my shared folders to be sure "Everyone" is included. When I try to connect, I get a popup asking for passwords (see photo). I know the ID & passwords are correct but it fails every time.

Not sure how to fix this?

Answer:Folder sharing PC to PC not working, both Win10-64bit

Turn off password....
In addition, on security tab of the shared folder, you also have Everyone set to full control

My mom gave me her old printer, since she got a new one, and I want to see if I can use it on my computer that I recently installed Windows 7 64bit on. It's a HP Photosmart 7350. I looked on the HP site for drivers but it seems there aren't any to download seeing as Win7 has a printer driver download thing built in. So I looked for a driver specifically made for Photosmart 7350 but there aren't any. When I looked for it on the web, apparently there is an alternate I can use (Deskjet 5550), which I installed from the "Add a printer" menu in the Devices and Printers window. It detected my printer but it doesn't print. When I try printing something I get errors. So I came here to see what I could do to fix this. I'm not sure what the problem is. Could I be using the incorrect drivers? Or is it something else?
