The latest insider update is stuck at 23% on my surface pro. What should I do?It has been psycho 23% for approximately three hours.
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
You can keep waiting (I wouldn't, but patience has never been one of my more outstanding virtues), or you can forcibly reboot your machine. Then, you can either install and try the Windows Update MiniTool (which often works when Windows Update does not) or you could visit the Microsoft Catalog and manually download KB3206309 (except I can't find it there -- does anybody know of another source for this update? I'm thinking it's fast ring only, and doesn't hit the catalog until the update goes out to the slow ring. Is that correct?).
I guess that means you should try WUMT (Windows Update MiniTool) and hope for the best!

I am installing the Windows 10 Mobile Preview on my Lumia 640xl for the first time, and am trying to go to build 10536 straight from 8.1. I started the update at 10am, and it is not 5:20, but the update status is still at 0%. I read that this is common problem with this update, but is there anything I can do to fix it?
I was on the last preview build and mines was stuck for a day I had to hard reset and then when reinstalled windows insider amd connected to WiFi it installed right away
2 more repliesHi all, I have a dell xps 13 2015 touch screen. It started an insider build update on Windows 10 a week or two back and is still stuck on 80%, howner can i fix this? Please send help.
The Insider Previews aren't stable releases they are test builds... you shouldn't use them on a primary machine. If you need to recover files follow this guide:
http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/data-recovery-using-fedora/
You can download Windows 10 and clean install:
http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/download-windows-10-oem-and-retail-iso/
If you want to remain on the Insider Preview. Use the Insider Preview .iso:

Sup people! Happy New Year to those I haven't given it to. I'm having some serious problems trying to upgrade to the latest Insider build. I'm currently in 15002.1001 on the fast ring. I'm stuck downloading the updates @ 95%.
I have done the following:
Stopped the Windows Update Service and deleted the all the files inside the Downloads folder from the SoftwareDistribtuion (I needed to finish those steps in Safe Mode because it wouldn't delete them while "normal", even with taking ownership).Tried running "latestwe.diagcab" (Windows Update Troubleshooter) and it fixed the Database Corruption Store from the Windows Update.I have turned off Delivery Optimization (the one which shares Windows Update from local PCs and from the Internet).I've rank Disk Cleanup and CCleaner and cleaned everything up.Ran sfc -scannow and chkdsk -f and no problems were found.
I seriously do not know what else I can do, except for doing a manual update from Winaero's blog (Download Windows 10 Build 15007 ISO images - Winaero) or a clean install (Which I'd like to avoid).
Any other suggestions?
I found myself in the same situation, and ended up downloading the ISO file linked in Sergey Tkachenko's WinAero.com post entitled "Download Windows 10 Build 15007 ISO images." That was a painfully slow and long update (3.98 gb) from a server in New Zealand, but it worked like a charm for me when done. Couldn't get the update to download successfully any other way.
If you have problems with the download situation, post again here, and I'll see if I can share a copy via DropBox or something...

I'm a Insider member since Oct 2014, get all the builds till the official launch of Windows 10 last July.
A few days before the official launch my Windows 10 TP (build 10240) had a boot problem and gave me a UEFI boot error, since the Insider Program was locked and I can't get any Insider Preview build to work I had format my PC and install my Windows 8 Pro and follow the upgrade path to Windows 10. (Reserve a copy, wait for the update and install the Windows 10 (Pro) and activate with my valid Windows 8 Key, no hassles there.
After success upgrade I went to Security and Updates > Windows Update > Advanced Options and hit the Get Insider builds > Get Started button, restart my PC and check if Fast Ring was selected and it was. Last month it came out Build 10525 and later on Build 10532 and I didn't receive any of those.
I tried to force the download by hitting constantly the Check update button on Windows Update, but the only thing my Windows Update download is Windows Defender definitions. So, I tried the following: in Advanced Option, I hit the Stop receive preview builds, restart PC and go there again I hit the button Get Preview Builds, restart again and wait a few days... no luck.
Since I don't had any luck there I post some questions in Microsoft Answers and report the problem, a few days later receive some answers, but none of the those answers worked out and one of them seems to me a bit stupid, so the suggestions was:

Today is the official release of Windows 10. I want to upgrade to the release version. I'm checking for updates and there's no update available.
I'm running on build 10166. I tried rolling back to 8.1, but it recovered to the same build (10166) of Windows 10 IP. I have lost my activation as well and can't reactivate Windows.
Anyone know a better way to update to the release version of Windows 10?
I am also stuck with 10166. I couldn't even upgrade to 10240 when it came out. It says that my device is up to date.
2 more repliesMy battery level was on 15% then I went for a nap and after waking up, the battery level was still on 15%. I checked if the battery adapter was plugged in correctly and even tested it on another laptop to see if It works and it did. My laptop does charge but only the indicator doesn't work properly as it should. My guess is that there should a problem with the drivers because when I opened device manager and reinstall the AC drivers, it then displays the current battery level but the problem still persists.
Thanks!
Thank you for your message.Restart the computer & tap F2 to get into bios & check the status of AC adapter & battery.Update BIOS even if you have the latest version. We're suspending the availability of Windows 10 builds briefly while we prepare for that, and the next build that we flight to you will be delivered using the production channels. Starting tomorrow, we will also not be delivering any additional ISOs at this point as we really need Insiders to be using, stressing, and validating our distribution and upgrade processes. We’ll make ISOs available again in the future, but for now we ask you to upgrade your current build via Windows Update once the next build is released.Click to expand...

Just updated to 10166 this morning.
In past week I update my L1320 from Windows Inside program. It's updated to Windows phone 8.1 update 2. But the problem is, insider program shows another update but it's now not updating. I tried on both cellular and wifi network but it only shows "update is available" but whenever I hits download button, progress remains 0%.. Plz help... What can I do now?
did you restart after update 2 - that'll probably get it started.

Usually takes 24-48 hours after switching ring. There is truly no rhyme or reason to the exact time MS clears you for the download. You will get 14393.0 first and then a Cumulative Update to 14393.5 if and only if you are set to the Fast ring. So be sure to check which ring you have after you get 14393.0. For me it was initially set to Release Preview.

You should already have received this in your email.Microsoft has made some adjustments in the agreement for those who are in the insider program.https://insider.windows.com/en-us/program-agreement/?OCID=WIP_r_Body_termsIt appears to be just a change in some legal terms. Here is my question. Does this really change anything? In a commercial environment, automatic updates can present some risk to the business. So frequent backups and a redundant method of doing business ought to be standard. Doesn't everybody know that?
They have updated the terms a few times previously.I found a previous copy of the terms here:https://web.archive.org/web/20170827044049/https://insider.windows.com/en-us/program-agreement/It looks like the new revision is much, much shorter. (6 versus 13 pasges when I pasted into Word)Looking it over it seems like they largely simplified it.I'm not sure what your last paragraph/sentence has to do with this, though. This agreement only applies to "Windows Insiders"; an exclusive term they have used to replace their QA department with volunteers.

more repliesHi folks,
I recently updated my Lumia 1520 to update 2 via windows insider trick. Now I pretty much want to receive normal updates that are pushed to my device in the future and not windows 10 TP and all. So can u guys suggest me what to do in order to receive normal updates? Currently the update setting shows windows 10 update ready to download... Is there any trick that can help me?
Thank you.
I believe you will have to hard reset the device since you aren't supposed to stay on Update 2. It was supposed to stay there for a little bit, then upgrade to 10 automatically. Erase the device to "forget" that whole plan.
However, there may or may not be a less destructive solution since while I know when the device is asking to install it's too late, but I don't know about asking to download.
Plz help me...i don't know the difference between windows insider and update advisor.
I updated my lumia 640 by windows insider...is there any problem?
Plz help me
Update adviser is to let you know whether or not your phone is compatible and for when MS/Carrier have the official WM10 update ready for your phone. Windows Insider is so you can preview pre release builds of WM10 on your device. Which ring did you choose? I updated my wife's 640 to the insider release preview ring for the .242 update(which will be more stable than the slow or fast rings) then removed her from the insider program so she'll get the next production release. I hope this makes sense, let me know if you need me to clarify anything.
more repliesDo I need to be a windows insider to get my lumia 532 upgraded to windows 10?

No you don't. You'll get it when it's released, although the date you'll get it might well depend on carrier testing/deployment.

The only update I've seen mentioned is to Build 14926 and may not yet be available to everyone in the Insider program, just as 14915 took awhile to get to those running 14905. Just requires a bit of patience.
Hi, I'm running an insider version of Windows 10, I had a legitimate version of Win10 before signing up for the Insider program. My problem is that I am getting warnings saying my current version of Windows is going to expire soon, but when I try to update, it fails. It seems to completely download version 14926 every time, but then fails at the installation part - see below.
If anyone has any ideas on this, it would be much appreciated. I'm hoping it'll fix the massive delay when switching users when I do finally get it. Rebooting makes no difference. No updates since 13th Sept.
Might have made some progress with this...

Don't think it's a problem. I had the same issue, but yesterday was prompted to jump to the latest build. Unless anyone posts a better solution, I would say wait it out and keep checking for updates in the meantime.

I am enrolled in the slow ring of the windows insider preview. I have a Lumia 640 . The internal storage available in it is 7.28 gb. To update, it requires 1.22 gb. I have removed all apps and documents I could have removed. Now only system does and the (uninstallable) Microsoft apps are left. How do i get the else required to update?
PS: The mail+ messaging shows it is using 103mb space. Can that be removed?
Im currently using 6.12 gb of 7.28 gb. It says i require 1.22 gb which comes around 6.06 gb. So i just need about 70 mb more space
more repliesWhen I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 Pro my Win 10 was activated. I decided to stay on the Insider Preview and today was upgraded to version 10525. After the upgrade, I noticed the Windows Watermark showing this as an Evaluation Copy and no longer have activated copy, but a Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview Copy. Does anyone know why I went through the update farce if you lose it by staying in the Insider Preview.
My bad. Just rechecked and does show it's activated.
I have heard that the roll back works good if you want to go back to the rtm. I have not done that yet but am thinking on trying soon. I do have a test machine ready. The good thing seems to be that the activation goes forward and back also. Good luck to you
1 more repliesI seem to be stuck on 10525. I keep getting the message that a restart is scheduled for update to th2_release Professional 10532, but no matter how many times I restart it, it won't install the update. Hell, it won't even restart automatically most of the time. I don't get an error message or anything, just the same message that a scheduled restart is in effect. I've also tried disabling insider builds, but when I reboot, it's still enabled. I can't roll back to 10240 because it will delete everything no matter what I do. I don't have the option to save my stuff. I'm not worried about my files, they're backed up. I just don't want to reinstall all my apps again. Any suggestions?
EDIT: Downloaded the 10532 ISO, started an install, and it gave me the option to keep my apps and settings. It's at 29% now. We'll see how this goes.
EDIT 2: Finished updating, it's at 10532 now. Yay. Solved my own problem.

Hi everyone,
Before heading off for the holidays I wanted to give a little bit of an update on how things are shaping up for Windows 10, especially since we don?t have a build for you this month. I know that some of you are disappointed that we didn?t release another build (though we know some of them escaped?.I?m looking at you 9888 & 9901?)* but now that we?ve announced our event on January 21st I can finally explain why we didn?t. We?ve been very hard at work putting together a great build for you that includes a bunch of new features and improvements. As all of those payloads came in we needed to stabilize code, fix any integration issues, and ensure all of the new UX is polished. We?re really focused on making the next build something that we hope you?ll think is awesome. In fact, just so that we have a *daily* reminder to ourselves that we want this build to be great, we even named our build branch FBL_AWESOME. Yeah, it?s a bit corny, but trust me that every Dev that checks in their code and sees that branch name gets an immediate reminder of our goal. We?re super excited to show you what we?ve been up to! Look for a follow-up blog post from us on where to tune-in to the live webcast on January 21st.
This Windows Insider thing seems to be gaining momentum

Hi and welcome to windows central forum.
insiders build are highly experimental and unstable builds with multiple unidentified bugs, which may not have a solution at present. In your case you can do a soft reset and check if everything is fixed.

I keep getting pop ups saying my copy of windows is about to expire. "12/31/2016 4:29:44 PM"
I have: Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview Evaluation copy. Build 14295.rs1_release 160318-1628
Every time I try and use Windows Update, I keep having the following errors...
0x80240fff
0x80070017
No mater what I do I can not get the updates to install, in fact windows wont even let me go back to an earlier build.
Really don't want to lose all my settings, apps games, I've backed up what I can but really dreading all the customization and settings I had to tweak.
Anyway to stop the expiration? fix the updates so it works or download and install offline so i can keep all my settings and stuff?
Also tried WindowsUpdateDiagnostic and wushowhide. both didn't do anything for me. tried clearing the "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution" and that didn't work.
Anyone know how to fix this?
Where can I get Windows 10 Insider 15007 cab files to install because my updater takes forever to get the newest insider preview update. Any ideas on where I can download them?
More repliesI want to download the latest build for Windows Phone 10 through the Insider program. But, my phone says that it has already downloaded build 10166. I need to skip that update and update directly to the latest build. Can I reset the update cache somehow?
More repliesI would like to replace my current WP with 8.1 Update 2 with a W10 phone. Should I buy 640XL & try to update to W10 (by Insiders or wait for Official) or else i wait for a new W10 phone which has the similar price & specs of 640XL?

You'll wait a few months for a device from MS with similar specs. However, there have been several new models released that run W10M. If you're not particular about getting a microsoft branded phone, you could purchase one assuming it is available in your region
You could also test with insider after buying 640xl. But you'll have to do upgrade process carefully. Check the forums for guidelines
the only way to update my lumia 535 to windows10 ..is to use windows insider??
Yes.The Windows mobile 10 are not released yet,and if you want w10 the only way until now is via insiders.I'm an owner of Lumia 640 xl dual sim,and I dont know how 535 works but I tell you to download the w10.They are so good and smooth from the last 2-3 updates. In the app you can choose between slow-fast.And if you don't want to get fast and with buggs updates choose slow.
IF you wanna to try the last update just use fast.
Hi, ive tried leaving programme and resetting .. etc but still Lumia 930 wont update, any help?
Have you manually checked for updates?

I have been successfully updating as a Insider Win 10 since Oct 2014 with no problems. I recently did a clean install of build 11102 and it seems ok. A few slow downs and hangs but generally ok.
Recently I received notification from MS that build 14257 was available for download. I downloaded the file as always and it went through the usual prep and getting ready etc. When it rebooted to start the install I get a screen asking me to "Choose your Keyboard L/O" I choose United States and then it reverts back to "Choose an Option" I choose "continue & Exit to Win 10" and it boots back into my build 11102. I've tried this three or four times with the same result.
I have downloaded and run the MS Fit-It for upgrades to no avail. I have tried using a Local account, still does the same thing. I created an ISO TechNet and it does the same thing when trying to do a clean install.
Any ideas??
I have run DISM and SFC /scannow
You can create an iso to manually clean install by extracting install.esd and converting to an iso using esd-iso tool in tutorials section.

2 more repliesI like many others have been having a problem getting my Windows Update set up to get insider builds. Even though I had signed in using my Microsoft account, I get getting the "Fix me" button which gave me a message about stopping insider builds. I think I identified the problem. I did a clean install of 10162 on a spare drive as a stand alone system. Update told me I was all set to get insider builds. Then I reattached my drive with Windows 8.1 and set it up for dual boot. As soon as I did this I got the infamous "Fix me" button. I then disconnected the Windows 8.1 drive and update told me I was once again all set to get insider builds. Strange - when Update sees another windows install on my system, it disables insider builds.
Yup that is unfortunately what happens if you dual boot with another version of Windows.
I get exactly the same scenario dual booting Windows 10 and 7.
If I want to update Win 10 I have to disconnect my Win 7 drive then all goes well until I reconnect my Win 7 drive and boot up, then follows a sequence of CHKDSK.
All part of the fun

Yep, got this update here too. Interesting.
I think we'll have a Feedback Hub post about this patch in a few hours.
The title explain's it all. Any help? I am using Windows 10 Enterprise Edition.
No more Insider updates until after 1/1/2017: see Dona Sarkar Pushes the Pause Button on Windows Insider Program for an explanation.

JosipoGo the Redstone branch is reserved for pre installed windows 10 devices namely lumia 9550/xl , 650 , 550 :)
Microsoft is planning to add compatibility of upgraded devices in future builds :)
The final step reaches 76%, restarts and then the pc is restoring the previous build.

I am running build 1439 but I am not sure whether it is the latest build or not. When I check for update it shows that the device is up to date.
More repliesHello,
I have a Windows 10 Pro Insider (v.14936) and since the last update (the 14936), I do not anymore have access to my network hard drives (NAS Synology DS210j and another Thecus N2800 NAS).
Previously I had no problem accessing the NAS, I've also another computer under 10 on my network and this one i've no problems for access it. They both have the same antivirus and the same firewall settings (ESET Smart Security).
Here is the error message I get when I try to open my network drives :
I deleted the credentials stored in Windows.
In addition, following the recommendation of Microsoft support (KB912998) I checked the next local strategy was well off: "Network access: Do not allow storage of credentials or .NET Passports for network authentication"
I tried a system repair using the command "sfc / scannow" and "chkdsk / r" without any changes.
Do you have an idea to solve this problem? Is this a bug referenced in this release?
Thank you in advance for your assistance,
Ptitsnake.
W-10 Pro on desktop

When trying to install, gets to second reboot and rolls back to previous version.
Also fails with error message 0x0070643 (GSOD no dump files)
Renamed Windows/SoftwareDistribution, no joy.

I have MADOSMA Q501 bought in japan. I tried to use Windows 10 Insider preview on that device. But insider updates not showing. I tried fast ring, slow ring and preview release as well. Nothing working.. it is showing like. Device is up to date.
the device is now Windows 8.1 Update 2 .
As the titel say. Its getting hot and drains battery but doesnt load so i would like to stop it.
Sometimes it takes some time for the updates to happen. They look like they're stuck at 0%, but really they're still loading.
Your best bet is to set it on a charger and let it finish the update.
So I finished installing the latest Insider Preview update, but after restart I noticed the following text in the WU tab:
*Some settings are managed by your organization
And when I checked the startup programs I noticed this weird application in a hidden folder called "KEfOtuea" on the Windows drive:
Any idea what is happening or how can be solved? I ran scans with MBAM & WD & AdwCleaner and got nothing.

This is what happens to me all the time, I have given up and will wait for the next build.
more repliesYou appear to have a illegal installation of Windows 10. Please correct this by installing and activating a legal copy. If you then get any more BSODs, run DM_Log_collector and upload the zip file and I'll be happy to take a look at it.
1 more repliesHello, I've been trying for hours to get my HTC One M8 to run the Windows 10 preview, but I'm having some issues.
- As most people have suggested, I've hard reset my phone, not used a backup, then installed the insider preview and signed up for fast ring (I hear the newest build is great).
- Once I've done this and the phone has restarted and everything, I go to check for updates and.... nothing. Says my device is up to date.
- Tried resetting (twice), using the WP recovery tool, and still no updates come around.
Any suggestions? Could this have anything to do with my carrier (Verizon)? Am I out of luck? Thanks in advance.
I have an HTC One M8 running 10586.218 that my son is using (left IOS and likes W10M) and it runs very good on that phone.
You will not get an upgrade using the fast ring on the HTC, that is just for "supported" devices. You can get the very good 10586.218 release using "Insider Release" not "slow" or "fast" though. Not sure if "production" ring will get you anything either.
I have recently updated my Lumia 730 to denim update in India and now I am interested to become an insider and I wanted to test windows 10 on my phone. But I signed in for windows inside and I installed windows insider app but I was shocked the app is saying that there are no builds available for me. What should I do to get the windows 10.
Then I am shocked that you did not read which OS version you need.
Your OS is probably to high. So you have to wait till Microsoft releases an W10 version which allows higher OS versions to join.http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...pported-phones
We're working to get more Windows Phone models supported worldwide. Download the Windows Insider app, and when your phone is supported you'll be able to sign in with the same Microsoft account you used to join the Windows Insider Program. Windows 10 Technical Preview currently works with the following phones?as long as they have at least 8 GB of storage, Windows Phone 8.1 was already installed on the phone at the time of purchase, and the version number is 8.10.14219.341 or earlier:
When i try to update windows to the latest build 14322 the update hangs at 92% on the 3rd tier update.

I rolled my Lumia 920 back to 8.1 in hope of installing fresh W10 but when I installed insider app and chose insider fast nothing happens. My phone just upgrade to denim and stopped there. It wasn't like this before because back then it would download the update and install W10 by itself.
I tried soft reset, hard reset, reinstalling insider app, choosing insider fast/slow/RP but nothing works.
If anyone can guide me to a solution please help me!
Switch to the Release ring. That should get you onto the 10586.164 build, eventually. Both the Fast and Slow rings are now Redstone-focused so the 920 won't receive updates on them since it's not supported for upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile, officially.
Barring that, you will need to edit the registry which is a harder/more involved path to upgrade to W10M.
I was looking into the option of getting Update 2 (only) by enrolling in Insider Slow, then deleting the app, but on my 830 the only option is Insider Fast. On my Lumia 810 the options are Slow or Fast. What gives?
Microsoft (Gabe Aul) stated that they don't have anything for slow ring until next build at the soonest. You can try to get it through fast ring though.
6 more repliesGreetings all,
I have a DVD copy of the latest Insider Build (16288) thanks to 'f14tomcat'
I have the latest Creator's Build on both my laptop/desktop (15063.608). I am wondering if i can do an update using the DVD (within Windows, not booting from the DVD) without actually being part of the Insider's program?? If so, will this trigger my Windows install to automatically put me in the Insider's program (hoping not)
Since this build has no expiration i was hoping to run it on my desktop (taking image before doing of course) till the Fall Build is released & install that over 16288. Is this possible?? Can anyone point out any negatives to doing such??
I've read more positive remarks about this build so i'm willing to give it a shot as long as it is doable. I will hold off till i hear from the gurus.
TIA,
Ray
Hello all,
Real quick, I'm having an issue where I try to update from Build 15031.rs2_release.170204-1546 to the next rs2_release available via Windows Update. The update downloads, does the pre-install, boots me into the traditional blue screen of updating, finishes, then reboots me to get back into the OS. At this juncture, I am at a blue flag and white dot circle, which has stopped spinning (it spins for approx .75 seconds) and halts, machine stays in this state ad infinitum. I can reboot it, at which point it goes back to the same state. If i shut down, then power back up instead (cold boot), the machine reverts the upgrade and goes back to the previous build and everything is honkey dorey.
Thing 1) I do not have a wireless USB mouse/dongle. Please don't recommend I remove it as one does not exist.
Thing 2) I have removed two possible culprits (Creative SoundBlaster Z card, Asus Wireless-N card). No change.
Thing 3) I have unplugged all video (except 1 Display Port), all USB connections, and the Ethernet cable. No change.
Thing 4) I even went so far as to disconnect my NZXT water cooler USB connector from the motherboard header and reboot. No change.
Most posts I see, it's a "Oh, your wireless usb mouse is causing issues" or, "the PC is having issues discovering USB devices during it's boot process, disconnect them". Well, I've done it, and it's still busted. This has happened with /every/ developer preview update since Win 10 was release. The first... Read more
I read through this and don't see anything I can help with except for what could be called a stupid question: Could it be your computer is too good for the IP versions? I pose that only because I have IP on a Dell 530 SFF computer and a Dell Optiplex 755 computer from back in Vista and Win7 days and working fine. I did have to use an Add-in Video card in both as the onboard graphics adapter had no drivers for Win10.
3 more repliesHi folks
Anybody who is an Insider member and has downloaded the CU update could you tell me whether Ms has finally fixed the ongoing Long File name problem (directory/folder path lengths where file names must be less than approx. 200 - 260 chars.
I am having a load of issues on Windows clients being unable to display music files from my NAS server due to this restriction.
Note -- Third party apps don't work properly either
Here's Version 9 of Total Commander -- same problem.
Cheers

Do you mean this?
Tip Starting in Windows 10, version 1607, MAX_PATH limitations have been removed from common Win32 file and directory functions. However, you must opt-in to the new behavior.
A registry key allows you to enable or disable the new long path behavior. To enable long path behavior set the registry key at HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem LongPathsEnabled (Type: REG_DWORD).

More repliesToday I tried to update my Windows 10 insider preview (fast) system to the latest build. During the first attempt I received a BSOD and rollback. After multiple reboots and cleanups (such as removing kaspersky) I was able to do the update again.
The update completed, since I once had the "hi" screens after login, however after a reboot I am not constantly getting the spinning white circle. (left for an hour), no desktop. This is the 2nd stage with blue background, not the initial loading windows flag. I've since rebooted a few times, but ... nothing ...
I booted a windows 10 USB to attempt to run recovery options but received a message that an update was in progress ("it looks like you started an upgrade and booted from installation media"). I was unable to revert to a previous build, and startup repair didn't help. I can get to the command line but other than copy files there's little else I can do (system is *of course* all backed up anyway to crashplan, and non system drive data looks intact in any case)
Any tips - other than a clean install? perhaps not such a bad thing after over a year of insider builds....
