Repair opencl.dll

Question: Repair opencl.dll

Ok so I was trying to open a Model_Source file in Unity with Blender and I was getting "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b) and I spent hours trying all these different solutions and I think I have tracked it down to a corrupted file. So eventually I found out to use sfc /scannow In cmd and when finished it said Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. and I can't find a way to manually repair it. The corrupted that kept coming up was opencl.dll and I have been looking and I can't find a good answer.

Here is the sfcdetails.txt:

Preferred Solution: Repair opencl.dll

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Repair opencl.dll

Hello, I've just answered a very similar question.
Opencl.dll is related to Nvidia graphics. It has been reported incorrectly as a problem by SFC /Scannow for months. It is said MS is to fix this.

Question: OpenCL

I have both an Intel HD 4600 GPU (Core i7 4790k CPU), and Radeon R9 285 card in my desktop. Anyways, since the HD is pretty much unused I decided to enable it in UEFI settings for the purpose of running OpenCL stuff on it.

Anyways I'm looking for software that can take advantage of OpenCL.

Answer:OpenCL

It hasn't really taken off kind of like WiDi. Good luck finding anything worthwhile that uses it.

Just bought this new i7 z510. Downloaded and tried to run this program called resolve lite for video. Install the program and open it, it says NO Open CL acceleration hardware found.  What the hell does one need to buy a new dam laptop if it doesn't even have up to date things like open cl in it.   If someone knows how to instal a program that fakes open cl or something so I can run resolve please tell me. Thanks.

Question: Missing OpenCL.dll

Hi All,
So, I upgraded to Windows 10 a day back using the media creation tool, and the install went fine. After I restarted the PC for the first time, I got an error saying that OpenCL.dll is missing. I searched online forums and it said that it might be due a problem with your graphic drivers. So, I updated the driver with Device Manager, but it said that the driver is upto date. I still get the problem after every restart.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks everyone.

Answer:Missing OpenCL.dll

Could you look and let us know what driver version you are using please? (quick way to look- right click on your desktop, click nvidia control panel, then in the bottom left corner of the dialogue box that opens hit system properties)
In case you are unsure, the box looks like this:

hey guys long time lurker here, usually i find solutions on my problem but this time around, i have no idea what to do!

Short story: ran sfc /scannow and got the message "found corrupt files but cannot repair," specifically regarding Opencl.dll. Can i fix this w/o doing a reset?

Long Story (in outline form):
- got a new SSD
-with my old HDD still in place(with w7) installed w10 thru usb in the SSD
-It worked, and thru the desktop i transferred files from my old HDD to the SSD
-tried to format the HDD thru my computer, did not work, got some error
-proceeded to format the hdd through w10 installation usb - worked
-changed the boot order so SSD load first
-got an error saying no OS is found
-plugged in w10 usb and did "repair my computer" - worked
-able to access desktop, play games, etc.
-decided to run sfc /scannow to be sure, and got that error
-did a disk cleanup and then ran sfc again, still the same

also i have attached the log that i got from the sfc

Perhaps not, even if you were to do a clean install at this point - see here: SFC some corrupt files can not be fixed

Normally, folks would advise that the next step is using DISM to repair this problem but, if you check the thread I linked above, you may decide you don't want to reinvent the wheel.

P.S. - Welcome to TenForums! (now that you no longer lurk)

Hi guys.

I am hoping you can help me as i don't wish to do a full reinstall. Spoke to Microsoft who couldn't help. I have looked through the excellent tutorial posted on here with regards to SFC issues but i'm unsure if i am doing something incorrect as, the ISO i got from Microsoft website, has an install file with a .wmd extension.

I am on the following build:

When i run SFC i get corrupted files could not be repaired message:

I have saved the log of the above scan which i have attached. Please forgive me for the possibly dumb question but do i know download the 1511 iso? DISM is saying source files not found.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as the Tutorial steps don't seem to fix the problem unless its me which most likely is!

Apologies and thank you

Hello! I work and study in CAE/mathematical modeling field. Now I'm trying to use OpenCL on my laptop. According to all the utilities I've tried I have no OpenCL support, although I know that it should have, at least early versions. E.g. FurMark didn't even recognize my dicrete card. It simply stated that I only have the Intel HD Graphics.GPU Shark says the same.GPU-Z tells me that I have both, but no OpenCL support on either of the devices. At first I could't even start a simple example in OpenCL, because the "Getting started guides usually suggest to look for a cl.h header in your $(AMDAPPSDKROOT) folder". I have that environment variable set to an existing folder, but it contains no libs, headers or anything close to it.I've installed Intel SDK for OpenCL to check the available devices through OpenCL API. It says I can use only CPU. Hardware: AMD Ati Radeon HD 7670m; Intel HD Graphics 4000; Intel Core i5 CPU;BIOS info: InsydeH20 Setup Utility Rev. 3.7; f.12;The device manager recognizes both devices correctly (from the first glance). According to it both devices' drivers are 8.982.10.6000 from AMD.I have been studying this problem for a couple of days already and found only two direct statements that it IS possible to use OpenCL on my Radeon card:https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/system-requirements.html (Call me Mr. BrightSide, but I assume they should have tested it)andhttps://community.amd.com/thread/162244The reasons ... After past days, this week i've discovered another problem with windows...

Everyoen know that Windows 10 x64 and latest geforce forceware drivers are giving problems... in fact 355.60 WHQL release was bugged as hell and give a lot of problems, like VIDEO_MEMORY_MANAGEMENT_INTERNAL BSOD.

Today nvidia realeased a beta drivers to fix that issue...

355.78 (It provides a bug fix for an intermittent issue found in the publicly released 355.60 Game Ready driver as well as solving an issue with incorrect display timings. )

32-bit: http://developer.download.nvidia.com...ernational.exe

but seems problems are related to

I want to do some opencl development on my Alienware 15 r2  nvidia gtx956m gpu).  Nvidia provides developer drivers sdk's (3.6.4.72-notebook ) but provides a warning that not all OEMs support these. Does Alienware support the nvidia drivers? If not, what is the recommended way to install cuda/opencl + developer drivers so I can do opencl development in visual studio?

Unfortunately unable to attach via thread so here is link for log Download CBSLog.txt from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way

OpenCL: Parallel programmers' new best friend.

If you are interested at all in multi-core programming, this tool (Open Computing Language) could become the standard for years to come in "what may be the best solution so far to the general problem of parallel programming." It does both task-level and data-level parallelism (aka SIMD) and some parallel-programming languages can't do the latter.

Answer:OpenCL: Parallel programmers' new best friend

Some of the parallel processing examples are best described as *way cool* (I don't drag out such language for the average stuff ).

Don't know what Nvidea's plan is with both CUDA and OpenCL support. As both do broadly the same thing why are they pushing their solution so hard? Anyone know any good tutorials for OpenCL (or CUDA for that matter, but there's more out there).

It'd be a shame to write two programs for two different machines.

A programming language: https://www.khronos.org/opencl/

OpenCL defines an application programming interface (API) that allows programs running on the host to launch kernels on the compute devices and manage device memory, which is (at least conceptually) separate from host memory. Programs in the OpenCL language are intended to be compiled at run-time, so that OpenCL-using applications are portable between implementations for various host devices.[12

Nvidia Mulls Over Porting PhysX to OpenCL - X-bit labs

"Nvidia May Allow GPU PhysX to Work on ATI Hardware

Nvidia Corp. said that it could eventually port computing of physics effects created using PhysX middleware to OpenCL application programming interface (API) and capable hardware. This may actually enable acceleration of physics effects processing on graphics chips to work on ATI Radeon hardware.

At present PhysX middle-ware is used to make physics effects on various platforms, including video game consoles and personal computers. In virtually all the cases processing of physics effects is performed on the central processing units ? x86 chips in case of PC, Cell in case of PlayStation 3 or PowerPC in case of Xbox 360 ? however, there are handful of games that can take advantage of physics computing on Nvidia GeForce graphics processing units (GPUs) that support CUDA technology. The latter is virtually Nvidia?s proprietary API and is naturally not supported by chips developed by ATI, graphics business unit of Advanced Micro Devices. Due to such limitations not a lot of game developers are implementing GPU PhysX and enabling acceleration using DirectCompute or OpenCL is one of the best ways to popularize processing of physics effects on graphics processors.

?In the future it is a possibility that we could use OpenCL, but at the moment CUDA works great. [Our GPU] architecture allows for acceleration by other things like OpenCL. Nvidia works very closely wit... Read more

I made inf file for g210m on toshiba u500 for 195.81 beta driver.
Just download driver and add it to unpacked directory where are other infs and install.

Now you can use OpenCL, CUDA, DirectCompute, Physx (enable it in CP) and nVidia GPU Acceleration for Adobe Flash Player (install new 10.1 beta 2 flash player by adobe)

This inf is optimized for DEV_0A74&SUBSYS_FF401179 g210m.
If you want me to add more devices please post what devices you want and i will but you will have to test it.

Hope this helps.

Answer:Satellite U500 - INF file with OpenCL, CUDA for Nvidia driver

Thanks for that but usually it?s advisable to use the Toshiba graphic card driver due to the GPU overheating protection.
Other drivers don?t support such protection and the usage of such drivers can cause an higher temperature which could affect the GPU chip?.

I have Win 10 Pro 64 bit on a Dell Vostro 3460 with Intel Core i7, 8 GB RAM and Crucial 1TB SSD. All Dell diagnostics pass, Windows fully updated.
About 2 weeks ago (April 2016), the Windows Update for Version 1511 finally arrived and it is now at Build 10586.218
A few days (2 or 3) before that, IE 11 and Edge started to misbehave. It's possible that some final pre-upgrade-to-1511 upgrade did this - it is equally possible just a co-incidence.
The symptoms are that IE11 will open up but the address bar does not get populated and after a few seconds, it just disappears again. Edge does similar. When this happens, I sometimes try Firefox but that takes a long time to start - at least it starts. Chrome usually starts within a short time. There is no sure way to get IE and Edge back again. Rebooting sometimes does it. Usuallly, I have to use Turn Windows Features on and off to turn IE 11 off then on again (which given a restart is needed both times is timeconsuming).

Hello,

I've been unable to access my custom build computer since around 5:00 yesterday. I chose to restart my computer at around that time just because it was slowing up a little and I usually do that to help, I had not installed any updates or new programs since 2 days ago when there had been a few windows updates.

Upon returning to my computer I noticed that it had been unable to startup and had gone straight into system repair with it being 'unable to repair this computer automatically.' I rebooted several times and noticed that it was not a visible BSOD but as soon as the 'starting windows' icon began to appear it went straight into startup repair. I tried to boot into safe mode, tried to load previous good configuration and all of the other advanced recovery options (including system restore/image and many command prompts).

This is what it shows after being unable to repair automatically:

Problem signature name:Startup repair offline
Problem signature 1: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem signature 2: 6.1.7600.16385

Problem signature 5: Autofailover
Problem signature 6: 11
Problem signature 7: Corrupt file
(then my O.S. version)

This diagnostic occurs every single time I run the startup repair. Also, command prompts I have tried using the WindowsRE command prompt and the one found on the 'repair your PC' option on the windows 7 installation disk are:

You might be better off doing a clean install. You won't need to enter the key as its already been associated with your computer.

Backup any files you want to keep first.

I am not certain but it may take the install files from the recovery partition (perhaps someone can confirm this), I know this worked with a recent HP job I did.

I am using my cellphone because my computer is stuck in startup repair mode. I have windows vista.I can choose repair or normal, both run start up repair. It always fails after multiple attempts. I chose advanced options after failures and tried to do a hard drive restore to several different dates. It always says its successful and restarts, but goes into startup repair again every time. I have called ms tech support, and not surprisingly my problem requires advanced help that costs money. They did have me restart and push f8 to launch safe mode, but it ended up in startup repair also. I have agreed to pay them but set up an appt for next tues. They said i can cancel and get my money back if i want. They said my problem is fixable and my photos and files will be there. I just feel like i may have a better option and I'm hoping this website is it. I can restart my computer and give the details if its needed. I am desperately seeking your help and would definitely donate if you can fix my computer and i dont have to pay ms. I am not a computer idiot, but definitely NO expert.

Hi, I cannot start my Windows 7 at all. With power on, the system tries to load up but: ' windows failed to start.A recent hardware or software change might be the cause'. Trying to open safe mode or last good configuration doesn't work, it goes automatically to startup repair but after about an hour trying it says ' Windows 7 Startup Repair Cannot Repair This Computer ' (tried a few times). After another reboot with a windows 7 repair disk in the drive I managed to open the recovery manager from the DVD instead of the HDD and tried all the options - system recovery does not work, i have no previous images of the system, I ran a scan on the memory - it was all clear but still windows not starting. Then I did CHKDSK and it froze at 11% on stage 4 of 5, that happened a couple of times so I decided to run an sfc scannow but another error: 'Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation'. So I'm totally stuck and don't know where to go next, I've got no windows installation disk, only repair disk. Any ideas would be much appreciated!

I have a Packard Bell easynote (TM98-GN-030UK), and have had it since Christmas.

On Wednesday, it failed to startup, flashing a quick blue screen and then immediately rebooting. Therefore I cannot get information from the blue screen.
The startup repair option goes to a default blue screen with green nature-y bits. It loads no options, even if I leave it for an hour.

I have tried the system repair disk. It goes to the same background, asks for my language/keyboard settings, and then when I click 'next' again does nothing.

So, I cannot access any kind of repair or restore options as neither does anything beyond show me the default background.
Thanks,
Alsvid

Answer:Both Startup Repair and System Repair Disc just go to blue backgrounds - no options given!

Have you read the...PB documentation on using these disks?

Firstly, thanks for reading.

My PC runs Windows 7 x64. I built it myself about a year ago for gaming.

Occasionally running games I would BSOD and it would suck. I'd update all my drivers or try some game-specific fix and usually if I didn't fix it, I would just start playing something else until I remembered it and by then, some Windows update or my own tweaking or just divine providence would have stopped the bluescreens. A few games, like GTA IV, Bioshock Infinite and Spec Ops: The Line remain unplayable for me, as they constantly bluescreen no matter my alterations or updates, but that's another story.

My problem is with Startup Repair. I was playing Max Payne 3 last night, all was well, then BSOD. To note, I never actually see the blue screen, the video cuts and the audio stutters for a moment, then the computer restarts. But in the .dmp files they're always reported as BSODs. Anyway, I restart and do some other stuff, then turn it off for the night. Today, I turn the PC on, and it prompts me to Start Windows Normally or launch Startup Repair. I chose to repair, thinking it was probably time I let Windows have a shot at it for once.

Well, I'm sitting a feet away and watching the screen right now, and it's going through the third consecutive automatic repair. In the past few hours I've run memory diagnostic, gone through the Startup Repair Infinite Loop Recovery thread with the MD mybackup stuff, attempted chkdsk (can't due to a lack of write privileges, even... Hello, what is the repair cost
for repairing a CPU socket on a Sandy Bridge motherboard?
Sadly i didnt know my motherboard had a damaged CPU socket until the reseller told me and therefore they also refused a refund wich also was the reason i sent it back to them in the first place, same day as i recieved it, when i later on read on hardware forums that intel recalled all Sandy Bridge motherboards.

Sadly these kinds of damages is not covered by the warranty, and I have also been told that
i wont get a refund, and its my word against their and really I dont see how I could have damaged the CPU socket when i didnt even had ordered a CPU yet.

But, not much to do against a big company and therefore i would like to know what the cost is to repair a CPU socket on a motherboard. I have read on some other forums like xtremesystems that moderators there telling that its about a 25 $ cost on repairing or replacing the motherboard CPU socket, and I would like anyone here to confirm this for me, or what other kind of prices there is for repairs that is not covered by the warranty, and sadly my reseller didnt accept the motherboard and told me i damaged it, which i didnt but i cant proof that they are lying so.

Is it true that there is about a 25 $ cost for repairing or replacing a CPU socket on a motherboard, and if not what is the cost?

My problem started last night as I was trying to boot in safe mode with networking to install and update malwarebytes to get rid of a spyware problem. I was unable to start my computer with safemode using f8, so I used the misconfig boot.ini method and selected safeboot with networking. Then I was able to get to the boot sequence menu, but whichever option I picked (safe mode, normal, last working configuration, etc), the computer just restarts.

Then I tried to repair windows with the xp cd and it completed at 100% and needed to "restart to finish the setup process." However, right now whenever it restarts, it will automatically go into safe mode, and I would get an alert saying "'win xp setup cannot run under safemode. Setup will restart now." I have tried pressing okay, x-ing it out and a manual shutdown. But whatever I do, the same cycle will happen over and over again .

I later found out about the f5 key and tried using that to boot normally, but it still goes into safe mode. My question is.. is there a way to override the msconfig settings so that my computer can boot normally and finish the setup process, OR to get the setup NOT to finish so that I can change the msconfig settings back to original.

I would really like to backup my files before doing a reformat. Any help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance

Answer:Cannot access windows after win repair -- safe mode & repair setup conflicts

First of all you could use any Linux Live-cd program to make a bootable cd from a downloaded iso file and then boot to Linux and then copy and paste whatever files you need to a usb flash drive or external hard drive.
What I would suggest first though is boot to first "r" for Recovery Console and run "chkdsk /r" to repair the hard drive.

Hi all - my laptop refuses to boot and when I start in repair mode I get the BSOD with just the cursor visible and nothing happens.

If I reboot in safe mode then it hangs at windows\system\drivers\bootdefragdriver.sys

I have researched and believe this driver is linked to Glarys Utilities, but am obviously unable to uninstall the program or driver because I can't boot into Windows.

I therefore downloaded an ISO file and created a USB boot disk (as per one of your tutorials) with the intention of rebooting into repair mode, but when I boot from the USB and press F8, there is no repair mode option. All it does it try to reinstall windows from scratch, which I am reluctant to do.

Does anybody have any suggestions of how I can either delete the bad driver (if that is indeed the problem) or how I can still get into repair mode from the USB drive?

Many thanks

Answer:BSOD upon repair mode, UBS boot disk created but no repair option

I think if you don't want to reinstall then you could try booting the laptop with a Linux live cd/usb and renaming/deleting bootdefragdriver.sys and seeing if that helps

Hi,
I installed Roxio Easy media creator 7 a while ago and I just did a windows xp repair but now roxio keeps bringing up this message:

* Please wait while windows configures Roxio Easy media creator 7 basic DVD edition...
- The only opton is cancel...

If I cancel it keeps coming up...

If I let it run through it says

*"Error 1706 no valid source could be found for product Roxio Easy media creator 7 basic DVD edition windows cannot continue"

then goes back to the first message and tries again...
Roxio 7 still works perfectly fine when I open it from desktop or start!
however whenever I open a browser, or try and rename a folder or save something it comes up with the error mentioned earlier...
it just keeps doing this and stops me continuing my work...

I have lost my Roxio 7 cd so I can't install the disk to fix this problem...

I found however my Roxio 6 disk so I tried just removing Roxio 7 using add remove programs... but this just brings up the same error... and wont uninstall...

does anyone know how to stop this message coming up?
(note roxio works fine I just want to stop the error message- but failing that does anyone know how to get rid of the program altogether)

thanks for your time

Install and run it, look for an entry similar to "WordPerfect". Delete the entry and all should be fine.

I am getting a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) Startup repair couldn't repair my pc and when I tried to reset the pc wont repair the problems used all the troubleshooting tools which didn't work. Won't let me boot into safe mode. After I go though all the steps i get the screen Recovery Your PC/Device needs to be repaired. If you don't have any installation media (like a disk or or USB device) contact your administrator (which is me). I downloaded a windows 10 iso file on a dvd. How would I be able to repair this? Could I boot into dvd and reinstall windows 10 with keeping my files, or use recovery tools?

Answer:Startup repair couldn''t repair my pc BSOD error code 0xc0000221

Hi, you can only do an in-place upgrade repair install (keep progs, settings) having booted normally.

Can you confirm you have attempted System Restore using the advanced troubleshooter options?

I think I can assume you don't have any disk images (we strongly and repeatedly recommend the routine use of disk imaging e.g. Macrium Reflect (free) which often gives you the means to recover relatively quickly even from disk failure without technical help).

The header checksum for this file doesn't match the computed checksum Error code 0xc0000221.

- have you run any sort of disk check? E.g. by booting from Kyhi's boot DVD/disk - at the top of the Software and Apps section- and using a tool such as Crystal Diskinfo to check SMART params (free, quick quick red/orange/green indication) - installer or portable version.

If your disk has failed, and you have no backup, you clearly need to take a different course of action and not try to fix what you've got.

Hello there

So, two days ago I got stuck in an automatic repair loop after trying to enable an old soundcard connected trhough usb in my DAW software.

I tried everything there is about fixing it (because reinstalling all the programs I got in that drive is a nightmare) but still nothing.

So today I decided i will reinstall windows from scratch and I went through my WinPE console (through USB) to copy all the very important files of my work that I had on my desktop. I went under the Users folder but there wasn't my username there!!! In fact the Users foled itself is only 8mb in size.

Where did all my user files go? Everything else looks like its there (folders like Program Files, Windows, my xampp folder, and generally anything else on C
Last thing I tried is everythin in this reddit post:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/3t2xb5/driver_irql_not_less_or_equal_storahcisys/
Nothing of the previous commants that I run on cmd where supposed to do anything about the Users folder.
I run chkdsk, sfc /scannow, some bootrec commands and that's it.
At one moment I replaced everything in the config folder of System32 with everything in the RegBack folder. But i got nothing so I replaced the old ones back to normal.
I also tried the DISM command but all i got was errors.
Do any of those commands have to do with my Users file missing. I am getting crazy here

Hi,

I have a problem with my HP Pavilion MS228UK. When I power it on, it runs Startup Repair and then gives me the mesage 'Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically'. In the details all the tests were completed successfully with error codes '0x0' except the last one which gave 'error code 0x490' with the message 'No OS files found on disc'. I ran the memory diagnostic tool which found no faults. I have tried to boot system recovery using F11 but that is not working either.

All help appreciated
Thanks

Hi,

I am unable to start up my laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium). TOSHIBA Satellite C660-1J6
It is stuck in a loop of 'attempting to repair this computer', which is unsuccessful and restarts.
There are no restore points to use.
I have received the BSOD which disappears quickly during startup.
I am able to start up in Safe Mode - however when I get to the login screen, the mouse and keyboard do not work.

I would highly appreciate any help or advice with this.
I am happy to reinstall windows as I have everything backed up. However I am unsure how to do so as I do not have a CD.

Kind regards

Answer:Startup Repair- windows cannot repair; Stuck in restart loop

Firstly, a Windows 7 install disc is a dvd, not a cd.

You would have to find a working PC to download a Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 Iso File, either 32 or 64 bit, let`s assume you need 64 Bit.

After you have downloaded the iso file you have to burn it to a dvd at no faster then x4 speed. So the PC has to have a dvd burner and you`s need a blank dvd.

Everything you need is in the following links.

https://www.heidoc.net/joomla/techno...-download-tool

Free ISO Burner

Clean Install Windows 7

You can also use a usb stick to put the iso file on using Rufus. The usb stick must be at least 4 GB in size.

https://rufus.akeo.ie/

You must also have a readable key on your COA to activate windows after you install it.

You will also have to install at least your network/ethernet drivers to get online. Then get your other drivers, and run Windows Update, which will take a long time, sometimes 24 hours.

(first, I posted this on windows7forums two weeks ago, and no one replied. I'm not sure why)

Hello. My friend recently encountered the error "Disk read error occurred."

It seems to be because her MBR is damaged, according to other forums I've read, and a partition recovery program that listed her MBR partition as damaged.

When I plug in her drive, the partition that holds her Windows 7-64 OS is absent(the computer hers interacts with is also Win7-64)

Her recovery partition on that drive seems fine, however. Is there any way I can copy that partition from her drive over to a blank drive that I have, and use that to repair her other drive? Or is there a way to recover her damaged drive? I'm not too good with this kind of thing.

If anyone knows the best solution for fixing this without having to wipe the inaccessible main partition, that would help a ton.

Answer:Advanced boot with repair partition does not show repair option.

Hello, I recently got hit by an aggressive trojan that started with disabling my sound, and crippling my internet connection to finally causing my windows XP to stop booting correctly. It would just freeze moments after the desktop loaded, becoming completely unresponsive.

I tried to do an OS repair but that too failed. Repair was unusually slow then ground to a halt at the 29 minute mark (Performing Configuration Stage) with some sort of +COM failure (sorry forgot to write down the exact details). Repair setup is not able to go beyond that point, so I restart the process. Same thing happens, repair gets stuck at the same point, and now I can't boot up XP at all because it goes straight into repair.

Is there anything I can do to save this installation? A reformat and reconfiguration of my PC takes days to do and I'm short on time.

Answer:XP repair has failed and computer is stuck in a reboot-repair loop

I doubt there is anything you can do at this point to avoid a full wipe and reinstall. You can run off a live linux version if you need to get work done before you get around to actually reinstalling XP and configuring your computer, but your XP applications will obviously not run in such a setup.

Hi All,

Looking for some advice. I had a sudden BSOD earlier and upon restarting my PC it came up with Startup Repair, only to have it fail to repair the issue. I have been following this thread which seems to have stemmed from the same issue. I too am running Avast, so I suspect that may be the problem.

I have been following the steps in that thread and have reached the point of removing Avast keys in Regedit. I previously ran checks and also attempted to repair from the Win7 OS CD as was suggested in that thread.

I think that following the steps to remove Avast files may be the solution to my issue - however, as I am aware that Regedit can be dangerous to mess around with I wanted to check in and make sure I am following the steps correctly.

System info: Self-built PC, running Windows 7 on a Crucial M4 SSD, with two WD Caviar Black HDDs as storage drives.
CPU: Intel i5-2500k (not OCd)
GPU: EVGA nVidia 970 FTW
RAM: 4x4GB

It appears to have re-mapped my drives, my SSD is C: normally while my HDDs are E: and F:, but the system is currently reading C: as the Windows reserved partition of the SSD, the rest of that drive as F:, and the HDDs as D: and E: instead. This is in line with the user (Lethorio) in the earlier thread, however.

So, where I'm at now. I am around posts #65-70 in that same thread and have found avast keys. Here are the keys in the first folder which appeared in the search results:

The BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO bug check has a value of 0x00000074. This bug check indicates that there is an error in the registry.

Parameters
The following parameters appear on the blue screen.

Parameter Description
1 Reserved
2 Reserved
3 Reserved
4 The NT status code (if it is available)

Cause
The BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO bug check occurs if the SYSTEM hive is corrupt. However, this corruption is unlikely, because the boot loader, known as NT Loader (NTLDR) in versions of Windows prior to Vista, checks a hive for corruption when it loads the hive.

This bug check can also occur if some critical registry keys and values are missing. Thee keys and values might be missing if a user manually edited the registry.

Resolving the Problem
Try restarting the computer by selecting "last known good configuration" in the boot options.

If the restart does not fix the problem, the registry damage is too extensive. You must reinstall the OS or use the Emergency Repair Disk (ERD) that you previously created by using the Windows Backup tool.

Hi,

My system recently got infected with a virus and i cleaned it using my antivirus software but my command prompt is acting weird.

Example:

I open command prompt and it gets directed to my "c:\documents and settings\admin\> ping 17.120.0.1" when i ping my router from here its able to ping no problem.

Now i type in

"c:\documents and settings\admin\>cd c:\
 c:\>ping 17.120.0.1
 c:\>ping 17.120.0.27
 c:\>
 c:\>cls"

It automatically pings another ip and clears it repeatedly

What should i do and how to replace/repair command prompt without running a OS repair.

OR IS MY COMPUTER STILL INFECTED

Answer:Ways to repair/replace command prompt other than a OS repair due to infection

What do you get if you type:

dir c:\ping.*

at any command prompt?

Hi all,

I cannot get my laptop to start up.I am currently overseas travelling and
I was hoping someone may have encountered or know of this problem.
It has always worked fine and the only thing i have been doing any differently while using the laptop over here is logging into the internet at hotspots /cafes and watching DVDs (pirated copies in Bali) so was wondering if either of them could cause this start up repair problem.

When you turn it on it tells me that...

"Startup repair is checking for system problems" then..

"Startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically".

When I look to see what the problem detail is i get...

I appreciate any feedback in advance as I am now carting round a dead laptop!!

Thankyou

Answer:Satellite A200-J01: Startup repair cannot repair computer automatically

Can you boot into Safe Mode? (Press F5 or F8 before Windows starts)

It could be caused by a number of things, bad memory, corrupted file system, faulty hardware, corrupted software/OS.

Check the RAM using Memtest from a bootable floppy or CD. www.memtest.org
Run CHKDSK on C: to fix the file system. Go to a command prompt and type CHKDSK C: /F
Check the HDD for bad sectors.
Google Hitachi DFT and run the Advanced test.

If its just a corrupted OS, backup your data and run Recovery to restore Windows to its factory state.

All of a sudden, my computer crashes every time when starting up the computer. When it gets to the "Windows" screen with the small moving dots that form the windows logo, it crashes just as they start their animation.

I've tried using Startup Repair, as well as command line repair (possibly the same thing?), but they are telling me that they aren't finding anything wrong. Also reverting to a previous state results in an error and I can't do a system restore because I have no system restore points. I was able to backup all of my most important files, thanks to that excellent guide on here which tells you how to use the "load driver" window to do it. So, I'm confident that my hard-drive is still mostly functional, since searching through it went fine, with no corrupt files or anything noticed. At first I thought the problem was something other than my hard-drive/installation, so I put my hard-drive into another computer (which was working fine) and experienced the same problem.

I read about the "repair install" option and got really excited that this might fix my problem. However, I read that you can only do it while logged in (which, again, I cannot do) and this was confirmed when I tried to do it anyway. This sounds like the perfect option for me, but I can't get the computer to let me log in, whether in safe mode or not.

Does anyone have any other ideas about what I can do? I'd really like to avoid doing a fresh install of Windows 7, if at al... Read more

Hi there,

The other day I was trying to help my friend clean up his computer by removing adware and spyware and such. He then played a game through steam, his computer went haywire, blue screen, shut off and when you try to turn it back on, everything is doubled vertically with a pixel thick line through the middle. I tried booting through safe mode, but the only option I got was startup repair. I ran a Startup Repair:

When you get the startup repair screen choose the next button to get to advanced options. You should have 5 choices including System Restore. See if there are any restore points available.

I just finished reading this thread http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f217/cannot-boot-windows-startup-repair-cannot-repair-this-computer-automatically-663898.html as I'm having the same issue. Here's a brief history.

My computer was built by me and has been fine up until a few days ago after I removed some USB cables for devices that I then hooked up to another PC I have and reconfigured some USB devices as a powered hub I was using would not let them be recognized by Windows. When I opened the Attached Devices window to see if my devices were now recognized it took forever to open with the blue bar at the top never getting to the end. I Googled the problem and found that Bluetooth was may be causing the issues and to disable it. That didn't fix the issue so I tried other recommended fixes such as disabling printspool -- none worked.
I then started having the Cannot Boot problems so I let Windows try and fix it which it could not. I tried to let it restore from a previous good point but that failed and I would click Send Report and then it would shut down. This kept happening for several days until I came across the aforementioned thread here on the forum.
Last night I turned off the power and went to bed. This morning I switched on the PC and let it boot up. Lo and behold WIN7 started right up no problems -- the Attached devices window opened right up as well. Then I saw that it was loading drivers for 3 attached devices -- all USB devices and one r... If you can get back to the cmd prompt:

chkdsk /r

and

sfc /scannow

After these, reboot

If you have no changes and nothing got fixed by those
then its time for a reinstall. I would format the drive too
cause you may have a MBR rootkit that unless ya smoke
the drive might remain and just inflict more pain down the road

Hi, everyone.

Today, after restarting my computer, I was faced with the Startup Repair tool, unable to boot Windows 7.
A couple hours later, after running startup tool a total of 29 times I have been unable to solve the problem.

I have also:

Tried booting in safe mode[didn't work]
Tried last known good config[didn't work]

Based on some advice I read elsewhere, I also ran chkdsk /r/f c: . It completed successfully.

Even just knowing how I can extract my files so that I can re-install windows would be a big help.
Startup tool doesn't take over a minute to complete, and displays these details:

G'day My laptop will not start anymore. After trying pressing f8 for safe mode & also last known good configuration but does not boot up. The loading windows screen starts but doesnt go onto work.  I cant restore in to an earlier time either - that doesnt work. Says something about cannot extract Vidalia Bridge Bundle GUI4.dll file or something. read all related topics & answers , but did not get a clue for registry error. startup repair window shows as follow (lenovo g560 /4gbram/ windows7 64). I dont ever recall making a recovery partition on the disk. Answer:G560 laptop won't boot. Start up Repair Cannot Repair this automatically

hi lobe29,

Try the following:

1. On the system recovery option's command prompt, type:

bootrec.exe  /fixmbr
bootrec.exe  /fixboot
bootrec /scanos
bootrec.exe  /rebuildbcd

2,. After typing the above commands, close command prompt and perform a startup repair (1 or 2 times) until you get a message "Startup repair didn't find any errors" then reboot the PC (Windows should now startup loading).

3. If the problem persist, you may need to do a Repair Install on the OS (follow step 8-22). To do this, you will need to burn a Windows 7 ISO whicn you can get here or here.

Hope this helps

I took delivery of a new (and expensive!) PC in January but last week it started giving me constant and varied errors.

The isssues range from Blue screen, black screen, failing to load windows, startup repair needed often, system restore needed often, and when it does load windows there are various error messages.
System info:
Intel Core i5 2500K
Win 7 Home Premium 64bit
Original OS installed on the system, an OEM version
PC just a few weeks old

Any help and guidance is much appreciated...

Answer:BSOD, Startup Repair, System Repair and other errors on nearlly new PC

These crashes were caused by memory corruption/exception (probably a driver).
Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!!!

If you have Raid > update its Driver.
Memtest.

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Any errors are indicative of a memory problem.

If a known good stick fails in a motherboard slot it is probably the slot.

Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows. If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

So, I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you c... Read more

Hi, just recently I installed Kaspersky total security 2016 anti-virus software, the following day I was unable to bootup.
I could only get has far has ' startup repair , after a short scan I received the error message, ' startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically '
And gave me two options, - send information about this problem ( recommended )  & don't send, but I was unable to select ( mouse did not function )
So I realised that I needed to erase my ' c ' drive and reinstall windows7 , fortunately I have backup.
But the problem is, I don't know how to access 'c ' drive to erase and reinstall win7

So ( not being very technical ) I contacted Kaspersky technical support, for assistance.
They emailed me the download for their rescue disc, and instructions of how to run the disc, so I copied it to disc and usb stick.
Using the rescue disk, I am able to copy my backup files on 'c '
But I cannot see an option with the rescue disc for wiping the ' c ' drive clean and reinstalling win7?
Have since asked Kaspersky support, replied but not answered.
Can anyone assist please

I am in major crisis mode because my laptop is stuck in startup mode and can't repair itself. I've tried a few command tricks but most of them require safe mode, which I can't access at all. Also, many threads have mentioned reinstalling windows 7, which would be fine if my disk drive hadn't burnt out recently. I am terrified of losing all my files so I don't want to toy around with anything. Thoughts?

Answer:Startup Repair on laptop cannot repair computer automatically.

Welcome DelaneyNicole.

Sounds like a shame that you do not have a backup of your files.

Some things you could try:
> Try accessing windows repair from boot (press F8 and select the recovery option),
> Borrow a disc drive from another system (maybe a friends?),
> Use a bootable USB drive with say some version of Linux on it to access your files.

Do you know what happens to cause this problem?

Cgadrim Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums! If the problem is only corrupted boot files, it might be repairable. You will need access to a working PC in order to create the media needed to repair your PC boot loader. You will need to create something known as a Win7 Repair CD.  This will repair the boot loader files, and if that is the problem, your PC will boot OK after that. This can be obtained (for a fee) from this link:  http://neosmart.net/blog/2009/windows-7-system-repair-discs/When you download this file, it will be an ISO file.To make a bootable CD from it, you will need to download and install ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/Once you have that installed, run it, select the option "Write image file to disc" and select the ISO file you downloaded, and point it to a blank CD.Once you have that, run it, in the Device entry, use the pulldown to select the USB stick.  Down near the bottom right, where is says "Create a bootable disk using", select the ISO file you downloaded.-------------------------------------Boot from the media you created, and follow the directions in this link: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/681-startup-repair.html Yeah, I know that says Win7 but that and Vista have the same boot loader files. You will probably have to run Startup Repair three times for it to fix all the boot loader problems. When done, your PC should boot OK.Good Luck

I originally was experiencing a BSOD every time my notebook was off power supply and found several comments on the web that said to completely uninstall Norton 360 with the NRT which I did, and did not change the DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE. So I continued to look for solutions and found the jcgriff2 MVP Driver Verifier posts, created a Win7 Pro 32 Repair Disk and followed jcgriff2's instructions to perform the Driver Verifier process. I experienced a BSOD during the process that informed that a driver had exceed allocated memory. I then tried to boot the repair disk which attempted to perform a Startup Repair, but failed saying the 'Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically'. There appear to be no options to restore the computer using the repair disk. When I view the startup repair details the problem is 'Unknown Bugcheck: Bugcheck d6. Hey Guys,

Background - I have a second hand Dell Desktop running Windows 7 34bit (i think)
Around May 2015 my computer almost died, but was saved by using a windows 7 repair disc i bought from Amazon and some help from one of the guys on here (thank you)
I've since lost this disc and my computer seems to have died again. So i purchased it again from same supplier.
It was a friend of mine who used the disc last time so ive had to google how to do it but it doesnt seem to be happening.

Switching my computer on a couple weeks ago i was met with black screen and this:

File: \windows\system32\config\system

Status 0xc00000e9

Info Windows failed to load as system registry file is missing or corrupt

It wont work in safe mode or last good configuration

So ive went into BIOS and changed the boot order so the Disc Drive is no 1.

Restarted Computer - nothing came up saying press any key to boot from disc (ive read that in few forums that should be what comes up) and it just goes back to black screen

So only option i have seems to be f12 Boot device menu where i select Onboard or USB CD-ROM drive and disc makes some noises before :

Selected boot device not available strike f1 to retry boot , f2 for set up utility

And basically thats the loop im in

Guess what id like to know as well as your expertise is

1. Does the specific error/status mean anything particularly bad
2. Is there something else i need to alter in BIOS to boot from CD
3. If its a dodgy disc drive or disc ca... Read more

I am trying to repair a T400 laptop, but cannot get it apart. The hardware maintenance manual is useless, the illustrations are not detailed enough and do not show how to remove some parts. Tech support told me to "Google it" to find more info (I thought he was kidding, but he was serious), could not find anything other then the HMM though. Trying to replace the system (planar) board by the way. I get as far as the LCD mask removal part and cannot get any further. Any help would be appreciated...thanks.

Answer:Where can I find repair videos or detailed repair instructions

Dan123, welcome to the forum,

I honestly can't say I share your opinion of the Hardware Maintainance Manual(s), I use them all the time and find them to be an excellent source of information.(Ripping notebooks apart is part of my job so my appreciation of the manuals may differ to yours).

That said, maybe your preferred source of information / assistance is by going to the movies. Please check out http://www.lenovoservicetraining.com/ion/

AS the title says, my PC went into hibernation a few days ago and wouldn't wake up. So i had to do a plug switch turn off.

Now when it boots up , it goes into startup repair but i get the message
''Startup repair - windows cannot repair this computer automatically''

then i have to send or don't send an error report
then i get 6 options , i cant remember them off top of my head.

I have Windows 7 Professional
but i've long lost the disc, apparently system restore doesn't work either it always fails for some reason.
p.s i ran checkdisk and that didn't find anything wrong, although there clearly is.
( upon boot up now if i press F8 i get the option of 3 startups, now i'm only guessing but 1 and 2 are a jumble of numbers and letters and 3 is normal startup i think . only option 2 works and i boot normally. if i don't press F8 though i get all that malarky above )

What else could it be ?
How do i fix this ?

I purchased a G510S in May 2014 and have been getting the same BSOD error since purchasing.  Driver State Power Failure.  After talking to several technicians who seemed trained only to get you to reset the computer to factory settings (which did not work), I was told to send the computer in for repair.  After paying money to ship it to them and having it sent back with notes claiming the hard drive was replaced, the very day I received it I got another BSOD with the same error. I've had it back all of 4 days and its happend twice.  Has anyone had this problem?  Is there any way to get real warranty customer service?

I'm running Windows 7 Professional, installed onto a Crucial M4 SSD.
It won't let me boot in safe mode, and gives the same message.
I have no system restore points.
chkdsk /r doesn't work in command prompt and comes up with: 'The type of the file system is NTFS. Cannot lock current drive. Windows cannot run disk checking on this volume because it is write protected.

Would anyone be able to help me resolve this? Thanks a lot.

Try chkdsk c: /r /x (/x forces dismount of the drive).

If the chkdsk scan runs but does not fix the issue, then please go back to the Command Prompt and enter sfc /scannow. Reboot once finished to see if it has fixed your issue.

How it started: I had some problems with installing Rollup 2 for Windows XP MC edition 2005 and called Microsoft tech support. They told me to find my restore DVD from Dell and reinstall windows because the error is most likely caused by a missing/corrupt file. Then they proceeded to say they'll call me tomorrow at 11:30.

The Problem: I started the installation process. Everything is fine until it gets to the point where the screen is on installing. It gets stuck at precisely the point where it says "34 minutes left" in installation process. I note the process at the time is "installing devices". I wait about a little under 2 hours and no progress. Sometime at around +1 hour after it gets stuck at "34 minutes left", I get a pop-up to insert a "Creative...(something)" CD and push OK. I assume it's a file in the restoration DVD, but it's not after looking through it...and I simply hit cancel and it seems that installation proceeds, albeit still stuck at "34 minutes left" mark.

After waiting...annoyed at no progress, I hard-reset my comp and repeat the process about 3 more times...getting the same result: stuck at "34 minutes left" (I didn't wait 2 hours like the first time). Finally after the 3rd hard reset, I get a Windows XP installation screen that says "restarting installation process" (this happens everytime if I start boot-up from HD instead of CD like the first time)...then a blac... I am pretty sure that a virus cause this, right before my computer shut down on it's own my anti virus popped up and said that a Trojan was found but I didn't have to do anything. Then the computer shut down and when it restartrd started to load files and then go into startup repair, only it couldn't fix it. I tried a restore, but again it said that the startup files wern't there. I just quickly scanned the diagnostic details and noticed something that said "boot critical file C:\CI.dll is corrupt".

I am so worried I won't be able to fix this and will lose everything! Any help is so greatly appreciated!!

Answer:Startup Repair - windows cannot repair this computer automatically

Reinstall Windows. It's faster and easier. I never do a system repair. Usually installing windows , drivers and most of the useful programs takes about 2 hours and finally You have a new system. Virus scan and system repair takes much longer, and it's not so successful .

We recently enabled folder redirection for a few staff members. After their PST file is migrated to the network share, Outlook can't read it. When we run the Outlook Inbox Repair Tool. We get this error: This data file appears to have been created using a newer version of Microsoft Outlook that this Inbox Repair Tool does not support.

The Office version has not changed on these machines - they are running Office 2013. SCANPST is being ran from these machines as well.

Does anyone have a solution?

Answer:Unable to repair my laptop using installation/repair disc (.iso)

As you are at Sevenforums I suppose you're talking about Win 7.
Please give us more info about your hardware (Laptop) as brand, model, amount of memory etc.
Is your windows disk from the laptop manufacture?
Do you have a backup of all your data files?
If you're trying to do a clean install, don't you have a BIOS factory recovery option (beware, it formats your HDD)?

Hi everybody
I recently cloned an SSD with Windows 7 Pro on from an HP EliteBook to an SSD from the same brand and the same size.

Edit; The cloned SSD is being used in a HP ProBook

When booting the cloned SSD, I'm getting a BSOD. I used the repair disk to perform a startup repair. When done I got the following message;
problem details:
Problem signature
Problem Event name : StartupRepairOffline
Problem signature 01 : 6.1.7600.16385
Problem signature 02 : 6.1.7600.16385
Problem signature 03 : unknown
Problem signature 04 : 21199729
Problem signature 05 : External media
Problem signature 06 : 6
Problem signature 07 : BadDriver
OS Version : 6.1.7600.200.256.1
Locale ID : 1033
Other things I've done and did not show any results;

sfc /scannowchkdsk
Is there anything else I can do, since I really want to avoid a fresh install (A lot of personal configurations on the employees' device)
Thanks in advance
