Preferred Solution: Windows insider update fast ring.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Windows insider update fast ring.

It takes awhile to make changes to the desired function, maybe a day or more.

JosipoGo the Redstone branch is reserved for pre installed windows 10 devices namely lumia 9550/xl , 650 , 550 :)
Microsoft is planning to add compatibility of upgraded devices in future builds :)

First when I rolled into insider app for getting windows 10 preview I got GDR2 update on my L730, and after successfully updating to GDR2 no option for rolling in the slow ring is visible only fast ring. Please help.

Answer:Why is it that i am only seeing fast ring option in windows insider app for phones?

Because MS isn't offering Insider Slow at this time if you read the most recent news about Insider. Unless you had the choice between Fast and Slow when you first signed up then you will only get FAST. And unless you already uninstalled Insider, when it says there a new update ready to install, you can't do anything to stop it from updating. So if it hasn't said that an update is ready you better uninstall Insider unless you want WP10. You had a choice of builds and it only said FAST right ? and you still agreed and the first update was GDR2 ? then the next will be WP10

Hello, I have a Y500 running Windows 10 Insider Fast Ring build 15019 and noticed in Device Manager that there are no drivers installed for ACPI functionality. What this means is that my laptop cannot successfully shut down, sleep, or hibernate. I have to power-cycle the machine upon wake-up in order to use it. Note that I'm experiencing this only with Insider builds. The Anniversary Release 1607 released last July does not have this problem. I went to this page and downloaded the ACPI driver. I've tried running the setup as both a regular and Administrator user, and the setup silently fails. Since I do PC support on the side, I like to run Insider builds to stay ahead of the curve. Any help besides 'wipe the drive and put 1607 back on' would be highly appreciated. TIA.

Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 11099 arrives on the Fast ring

"It?s been a while since we?ve had any new Windows 10 preview builds, thanks to the holiday season, but Microsoft has at last pushed out a new build to the Fast ring. The software giant plans to make the Fast ring live up to its name this year with an accelerated release schedule.

In the future Microsoft?s criteria for releasing builds to the Fast ring will be much closer to its criteria for releasing them to its internal rings, which means new builds are likely to be buggier and suffer other issues. Build 11099, which is available for Insiders to download now, should be relatively stable however, as Microsoft has had a while to iron out any big problems.
The new build doesn?t contain any exciting new features. In fact it mostly makes structural improvements to OneCore, the core that Windows 10 shares across devices. This will, however, pave the way to greater changes down the line.

Explaining the improvements, Microsoft?s Gabe Aul says:

The code refactoring and other engineering work we?ve been doing to optimize OneCore is nearing the point where we will be ready for teams to begin checking in new features and improvements. It will still be a few builds before any really noticeable changes show up, depending on when teams begin lighting up new features in their areas. We?re excited for Insiders to use this build to validate the work we?ve been doing to OneCore, so give this build a try... Read more

Last week, Microsoft released Windows 10 Insider Preview build 14931 for PCs - but it also announced that it was holding off on a new Mobile build from the Redstone 2 branch as it needed more time to fix two major issues that had popped up in build 14926, which was released a week earlier.

Today, Microsoft announced the rollout of Windows 10 Insider Preview build 14936 for both PCs and phones, so those mobile issues have now been resolved.

As part of the announcement, Microsoft's Dona Sarkar shared a reminder regarding the upcoming expiration of some older Insider Preview builds:

Since September 15th, PCs running really old Insider Preview builds started to see build expiration notifications once a day. Starting on October 1st, these PCs will start rebooting every 3 hours and then on October 15th ? these PCs will stop booting all together. If your PC is running one of these old Insider Preview builds, please make sureyou update to the latest build available via Settings > Update & security > Windows Update. Build 14926 and newer has an updated expiration date of May 1st, 2017. If your PC is running the Windows 10 Anniversary Update (Build 14393) in the Slow and Release Preview rings today ? this does not apply to you and you will not be notified of your build expiring.

The new build is available now to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring - be sure to let us know how you get on with them.

@Horsepower, 14931 is the Insider build that MS is currently offering an ISO download for. I would suggest you try a Repair Install using that ISO. It is very similar to doing an update and will preserve your files and apps. A Repair Install, as the name implies, will rewrite/update all the system files and settings and attempt to fix any problems.

Download the 14931 ISO from here: Windows 10 Insider Preview ISO
Be sure to choose the correct language and bits (32 or 64).

You do not need to burn the ISO to a DVD or make a thumb drive. Next, follow the instructions in this tutorial for doing a Repair Install, starting with step #4. Hopefully, this will clear up whatever is preventing getting newer Insider updates.

Next week, Microsoft will begin rolling out the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, and it's now putting the finishing touches to the major update before that rollout begins.

After pushing out build 14393.3 a few days ago as a cumulative update to 14393 - the final 'RTM' build (although Microsoft doesn't use that terminology any more) - it's followed up today with another bug-fixing rollup.

Dona Sarkar, head of the Windows Insider Program, announced today that Windows 10 Anniversary Update build 14393.5 is now available for PCs and phones in the Fast ring. According to the announcement on the Windows 10 Feedback Hub, the new update includes the following fixes:

We have improved reliability and performance of Microsoft Edge with AdBlock and LastPass extensions enabled. These extensions should continue to work after installing other extension updates from the Store.
We fixed an issue causing battery to drain due to runaway CPU processes while a device is idle. We also fixed a battery life issue due to the proximity sensor always running on some devices.
We fixed an issue causing Store apps to stop launching due to a licensing issue.
We have fixed an issue that results in Windows Updates being delayed on systems with Connected Standby.
We fixed an issue where the Korean IME would not have the correct composition on some custom TSF3 edit controls on PC.

For those of you out there who are among the 7 million Windows Insiders and are participating in the fast ring, Microsoft is treating you with a new desktop build, Windows 10 build 10565. If you haven't got the chance to install it or don't want to install the new build just yet, there's a gallery attached below.

This build comes almost a week after the recent Windows 10 devices event, and it has quite a few new things including: Tab previews in Microsoft Edge, a more intelligent Cortana, improved context menus based on user feedback and cosmetic refinements to Windows Explorer. The new build brings quite a few bug fixes, but there are still some known issues that you should be aware of, especially if you're a gamer that uses the Xbox app.

Windows 10 build 10565 also comes with Skype Messaging and Skype Video Preview app integration that was recently spotted in a leaked build. There's also a slight change in the Windows Update settings, where the scroll box for setting to Fast or Slow ring has been replaced by a long slider that might indicate that there will be additional Insider rings in the future.

With the anniversary update rolling out, and me being on the slow ring (for the entire time in the last year) what am I to expect?
I saw that the recent build for fast ring insiders 14393.10 had some updates for the maps, so obviously me being in the slow ring I didn't get that.
But other than that, I already have the anniversary update?
Also, if I stay with the insider/slow, I do not have to pay for any future updates, right?

Answer:I am on the slow ring for windows 10 insider program... a question?

You should have got that update if your on pc (it's released to all rings and public). And yes as long as windows is activated you will continue to get updates until the devices hardware isn't capable of running 10. If your on mobile same story till the hardware isn't capable, and the 14393.10 hasn't been released for mobile.

Whats is fast ring and slow ring in insider program and whats is its use ????..... What effect it puts ???

Answer:Whats is fast ring and slow ring ??

Hi Abhilash
Fast ring and slow ring in the insiders preview program controls how the updates are delivered for windows 10 Preview. Preview is a trial software and any changes that the programmers make to windows 10 is released to fast ring first. So if you are in fast ring you get it before slow ring but that also means if there are any problems with the OS then you will also get it before anyone else and it may not even have solutions.
On the other hand the slow ring insiders will get the same OS update and a bit more which includes bug fixes and solutions to all the problems faced by the fast ring insiders. So while the fast ring might get 3-4 updates the slow ring might just get 1 update in that entire time.

Microsoft today released yet another Windows 10 build from the Development Branch, bringing the build number to 14931. The build is for Fast ring Insiders, and it's available for PCs only.

14931 comes exactly one week after the previous Fast ring build, 14926. Like today's build, it only contained minor new features. There's always a time between when a major update is released - such as the Anniversary Update on August 2 - and Microsoft holds an event to show off new Windows 10 features where new builds don't have any groundbreaking new features.

In fact, the features listed don't really apply to the build at all. Most of the changelog is made up of app updates, along with USB Audio 2.0.

Here's what's new:

Feedback Hub Update: Feedback Hub has been updated to version 1.1608.2441.0. This update contains some highly requested features from Windows Insiders including dark mode, showing the original feedback author in the feedback details, and a settings page for Feedback Hub. To enable dark mode, just go into settings in Feedback Hub.

Maps App Update: The Maps app was updated to version 5.1609.2580.0+ last week. You can now you can check the traffic to your Home or Work locations at any time by tapping the Traffic icon in the app bar. You will see traffic conditions to Home and Work and your most recently viewed traffic cameras so that you can stay on top of the road conditions along your route. EDIT #2: Release notes below. Thanks, Ur_Mom
EDIT #3: It's on both slow and fast rings, my bad

Here is what’s new

Some of the things that Joe demoed on stage earlier today during the Build keynote are not yet included in this build and will be in future builds. But we still have a bunch of new stuff for you to check out!

General UX improvements: We made a bunch of UX improvements with the last build and you’ll see even more in this build. For example, you’ll notice a new Live Tile animation for Start in addition to in addition to some performance and stability improvements for Live Tiles.

We’ve done work to better support high DPI displays. And we know many Windows Insiders are running multi-mon setups – often with 2 monitors with different DPI. You will start to see some work we’re doing to make sure core UX components in Windows scale correctly on both your monitors so things look nice regardless of DPI.

We’ve also heard loud in clear that many Windows Insiders want to see Aero Glass from Windows 7 make a comeback. We’ve been working out how to satisfy this request, and are trying some things out with this build to see how you like them. We’re running a little A/B test with this build. 50% of you will normal t... Read more

While Microsoft was holding its Windows Developer Day event for the Creators Update, it was also preparing a new build for the Fast ring, which is 15031. The build is PC-only, and it contains a few minor new features.

Here's what's new:

Do more at once with the new Compact Overlay window: Ever want to continue watching a movie while switching app to check your email? Or keep an eye on your video chat even as you?re browsing the web? We do all the time! Some tasks don?t require the user?s full attention but is perfect to leave at the corner of the screen so we?re introducing a new compact overlay mode for UWA app developers. When an app window enters compact overlay mode it?ll be shown above other windows so it won?t get blocked. The best part is that compact overlay windows work just like normal windows in all other ways so app developers can tailor the experience with what they already know. Updates to the Movies & TV app and Skype Preview app will take advantage of compact overlay windows in the near future!

Introducing Dynamic Lock: Dynamic Lock automatically locks your Windows 10 PC when you?re not around based the proximity of a Bluetooth-paired phone. If your Bluetooth-paired phone is not found near your PC, Windows turns off the screen and locks the PC after 30 seconds. To enable Dynamic Lock, make sure your phone is paired to your PC via Bluetooth and go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options and toggle Dynamic lock to ?on?.

Microsoft today released Windows 10 for PCs build 14942 to the Fast ring, bringing a number of new features. The last build was 14936, which was made available for PCs and phones, but sadly, there is no Windows 10 Mobile build today.

Also, the company released PC build 14931 to the Slow ring this week, making it the first time that those not on the Fast ring could get a Redstone 2 build.

If you've been ignoring the repeated warnings that older builds are going to expire, your PC should already be rebooting every three hours. Beginning on October 15, it will stop booting altogether and it's recommended that you upgrade to a newer build.

Here's what's new in today's build:

Hide app list on Start: We are releasing a new feature that enables you to collapse the app list in the Start menu. This has been a top feedback request from Windows Insiders. You can try it out by going to Settings > Personalization > Start and turning on ?Hide app list in Start menu?.

Photos app update: With the latest Photos app update on your PC, the Photos app on your PC is now more beautiful and easier to navigate!

Plus, the Photos app is now available on your Xbox One! Show off a slideshow of all your OneDrive photos in your living room. Simply make sure you are signed in with your Microsoft account to see all your OneDrive photos on the big screen.

Microsoft today released Windows 10 build 14971 for PCs to the Fast ring. The news comes just a day after 14965 was offered up to the Slow ring for PCs, as phones still need to be on the Fast ring to grab a Creators Update preview.

The build contains a number of new features, such as the Office Hub that we reported on this morning. You'll also be able to read EPUB documents in Microsoft Edge.

Here's the full changelog:

Read EPUB books in Microsoft Edge: The reading experience will get even better with the Windows 10 Creators Update! In addition to providing a great reading experience for PDF files ? you can now read any unprotected e-book in the EPUB file format with Microsoft Edge. When you open an unprotected e-book in Microsoft Edge, you will be taken into a customizable reading experience where you can change the font and text size and choose between 3 themes: light, sepia, and dark. As you read, you can leave bookmarks. To navigate through an e-book, you can use the table of contents or seek bar at the bottom of the browser. And you can also search for words or phrases and use Cortana to define specific words.

You can download and read unprotected e-books from places like Feedbooks, Project Gutenberg, Free eBooks (requires sign-up), ePubBooks (requires sign-up), Open Library and even our own Microsoft Press. Try out reading an e-book in Microsoft Edge and let us know what you think!

Windows Insider Program head Dona Sarkar is in New Zealand for Microsoft's Ignite conference, but that hasn't stopped her from releasing this week's Fast ring build. Windows 10 build 14955 for PC and Mobile is now available.

As you might have guessed, the build is from the Development Branch, which is currently codenamed Redstone 2 (RS2). It's a preview of the next feature update to Windows 10, but unfortunately, there aren't a lot of cool new features just yet, as they haven't been announced yet.

However, Microsoft is holding an event tomorrow to show off more of RS2, so we'll find out more then. In the meantime, here's what's new in 14955:

Outlook Mail & Calendar Update (PC & Mobile): We have updated the Outlook Mail and Calendar apps to 17.7466.4062x.0.. This update introduces a few new things for you to check out:

You can now open email messages in a new window.
You can now use Quick Actions directly from new email notifications.
Get someone?s attention with @mentions. Type the @ symbol anywhere in the body of your email and start typing to pick the person you want to address.

Microsoft today released this week's Fast ring build, which is Windows 10 14951 for PC and Mobile. The build arrives just five days after its predecessor, build 14946.

The build is from the Development Branch, as all Fast ring builds tend to be. It's a preview for Redstone 2, which is to be the next feature update for Windows 10, adding new features such as major Continuum improvements for Windows 10 Mobile.

Today's build does contain a few new features. Here's what's new:

Refining the customization experience for precision touchpad (PC): Since last week, we?ve continued working in this space, and have another set of improvements headed your way. To start with, we?ve hooked up our keyboard shortcut picker, so now if you choose that option on the Advanced gestures page, you?ll be presented a recorder so you can capture your favorite key combo - perhaps WIN + Alt + D or WIN + F to start with? Secondly, we?ve added a Change audio and volume option to the set of basic swipe gestures you can pick from. Finally, we?ve updated the reset button to now has a progress circle and display a check mark when it is finished. We?ve also heard your feedback from the last flight, and fixed a few issues including that the reset button wasn?t clearing the settings listed on the advanced gestures page, that the 4-fingure gesture graphic was visible on devices that only supported 3-contact points, and that some of the advanced gestures options weren?t wo... If you're a Windows Insider on the Fast ring, it's that time again, as Microsoft has released Windows 10 build 14946 for PC and Mobile. This week's build comes six days after 14942, which was a rare Friday release.

Unlike some of the earlier builds that we've seen from the Development Branch, 14946 contains a number of new features. It's mostly minor stuff, and sadly, today's build doesn't contain most of theContinuum features that were announced at Ignite. It does, however, contain the ability to put your phone to sleep and continue to use the feature.

Here's what's new:

Customizing your precision touchpad experience (PC): Last week, we announced that we?d been working on refining your touchpad experience. This week, we?re taking that one step further. When you go into Settings > Devices > Touchpad, you will now find a section called ?Other gestures?. In this section, you now have basic customization options for your three and four finger gestures. For taps, you can select between Cortana, Action Center, play/pause or middle mouse button, and for left/right swipes, you can select between switching apps or switching virtual desktops. Try it out and let us know what you think!

However, we know that some of our Insiders prefer even more control over their experience, so for those Insiders (and power users) we have added a new Advanced Gestures Configuration page. The page can be accessed via a link at the bottom of ... Read more

Microsoft has just released the first Windows 10 build to the Fast ring this week, build 15063, which comes to both PCs and phones. This build comes just a few days after the last build was released for Windows 10 PCs on the Fast ring, which was build 15061, made available last Friday.

We may now be a couple weeks from the RTM version of Windows 10, since it is expected to be released in early April. So, don't expect any new feature for this build, but only improvements and bug fixes.

Here are the fixes for PCs:

We fixed a reliability issue from Build 15061 resulting in Microsoft Edge hanging and becoming completely unresponsive.
We fixed an issue for Insiders where the localized files and registry keys associated with any additional language packs on the system would not be installed after enabling .NET Framework 3.5.
Here are the known issues for PCs:

The upgrade path from the Windows 10 Anniversary Update (Build 14393) to this Windows 10 Creators Update build is not yet live and will be live tomorrow morning.
You will be unable to download new (additional) language packs on this build. Currently installed language packs will not be impacted. These will go live later this week.
If your PC fails to install this build on reboot with the error 8024a112, reboot manually again. If your PC appears to hang during the reboot, power your PC off and back on and the install will proceed.
Some Insiders have reported seeing this error ?Some updates were cancelled. We?ll kee... Read more

Microsoft today released a new Windows 10 Insider Preview to the Fast ring; this week's build is 14965, and it's available for both PCs and phones. It's a preview of the recently announced Creators Update, formerly only known by its codename, Redstone 2.

One might have speculated that there would be no new build this week, as Microsoft kicked off its Creators Update Bug Bash on Monday. It doesn't end until the 13th, and the company said that it would focus on build 14959, which was last week's Preview.

Here's what's new:

Controlling external monitors from tablets just got easier (PC): You can now drive content on a second display from your tablet without ever having to attach a mouse. The virtual touchpad lets you do more with a tablet and a second screen ? just connect to another monitor, PC, or TV, go to Action Center and tap on the ?Project? Quick Action to extend your screen. Use it just like you would a physical touchpad to control content on the connected screen. To enable it, press and hold on the taskbar and select ?Show touchpad button?. A touchpad icon will now appear in the notification area (just like Windows Ink Workspace does), and tapping on it will bring it up the virtual touchpad.

You?ve seen the work we?ve been doing for precision touchpad customization with the last few builds, and the virtual touchpad is no exception. While the virtual touchpad is open, go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad and you?... Read more

Today, Microsoft released Windows 10 build 15055 to the Fast ring for PCs and phones. The news comes two days after the company released Mobile build 15051, making this the second week in a row when two Fast ring builds were offered to Insiders.

It's the first for PCs though, unless you count 15048 being introduced to the Slow ring on Wednesday, which gave the Fast and Slow ring builds the same number until now. There still haven't been ISOs released for it.

Naturally, there are no new front-facing features to be aware of in this release. This is due to the fact that the Creators Update is slated to ship in April, which means that Microsoft will likely sign off on an RTM build this month. In fact, many had speculated that 15051 was the RTM; of course, with today's release of 15055, it's clear that that's not the case.

From now until the release of the Creators Update next month, you can expect to see more frequent builds (Fast ring is normally once a week), followed by an RTM that gets offered to the Slow and later to the Release Preview ring, and then a couple of cumulative updates prior to general availability.

Here's what got fixed, improved, and is still broken in Windows 10 for PCs build 15055

There are no new features in the build, which is no great surprise given how close we are to an RTM. Of course, there are a number of fixes, improvements, and known issues to be aware of. Here's what got fixed and improved:

It's only been a few days since Microsoft released Windows 10 build 15002 to PCs in the Fast ring, bringing a huge range of new features. The wait for Windows 10 Mobile users has been much longer - the last official release to the Fast ring was build 14977 over a month ago, although build 14998 was unexpectedly (and unintentionally) released for those devices earlier today.

But today, Microsoft is rolling out Windows 10 Insider Preview build 15007, for both PCs and phones. It brings a range of new features to both sets of devices, including further improvements to the Edge browser, on top of those that arrived with build 15002:

Sharing your tabs (PC): We?ve added the ability to share a set of tabs you?ve set aside. Just click the ?Tabs you?ve set aside? button, and under the ??? menu select the option to ?Share tabs? with many apps installed on your PC.
Import data (PC): We?re making it even easier to bring your data over from another browser when you switch to Microsoft Edge. The new ?Import from another browser? button in Settings allows you to bring your favorites, browsing history, saved passwords, and other data from another browser you have installed, in one simple step.
Running faster (PC): You can now choose to ?Run? a download link without first saving it, and we?ve added a ?Save As? option to the existing ?Save? link.
Web Notes improvements (PC): We?ve updated Web Notes to now leverage the familiar Windows Ink experie... Read more

Microsoft released today Windows 10 Insider Preview build 15025 to PCs in the Fast ring and it is the primary build for the second Creator?s Update Bug Bash which starts on Friday, February 3. Also, this build is only available for machines running the 64-bit (x64) version of Windows 10 due to a bug preventing the release to 32-bit (x86) devices, which must wait until the next release for a new build.

The new features available in build 15025 are the following:

Announcing braille support in Narrator: We love getting feedback from our visually-impaired Insiders and implementing features to support your needs. It?s so important that we keep our diverse customers in mind as we co-create with you. Today, we are excited to announce braille support for Narrator . This experience is currently in beta. So try it out and give us feedback! In order to use braille with Narrator, you will need to do the following:

Ensure Narrator is running. Then go to Settings > Ease of Access (WIN + U) and under the Narrator settings, activate the ?Download Braille? button. You will be prompted to install braille support.
Under Settings > Ease of Access, activate the ?Enable braille? button and add a braille display. Note that USB and serial connections for the display are supported.

Microsoft today released Windows 10 Insider Preview build 15019 to PCs in the Fast ring today, which has been anticipated for a few days now. First, reports of the new Game Mode emerged, promising that the new build would be available the next day, and then Microsoft confirmed the same when it detailed new gaming features coming. Later, Dona Sarkar and Larry Hryb updated their original statements, saying that the new build would instead be available later this week.

But as you might expect, there's more than just gaming features in this build. Here's the full changelog:

Xbox Gaming Features: As part of Windows and Xbox Insider Programs, updates have rolled out this week bringing some awesome new features for gamers. For more details ? check out this blog post on Xbox Wire.

Built-in Beam streaming: Beam is the easiest and quickest way to stream gameplay, and it?s part of Insider Preview builds starting today for both your Windows 10 PC and Xbox One. After updating to this build, you can start Beam broadcasts by pulling up the Game bar ? Windows + G.
New Games section in Settings: A new settings page has been added to Windows 10?s Settings app specifically for gaming: Gaming. This new section will be identifiable with the Xbox logo. We?re also beginning to consolidate some system and user settings for gaming in this unified location, where PC users are accustomed to accessing their settings. Yet Defender still black as can be on that other system

The Windows Store has completely stopped working for me-- I can't update or download apps, because whenever I do, an error code comes up. The most recent error code I've gotten is "0x80073cf1". What's going on? Previously, restarting the computer would fix it, but it doesn't help anymore.

Answer:Why is the Windows Store not working in Windows 10 Technical Preview? (latest build, fast ring)

Sounds like some component of Windows Update may be screwed up on that installation. You could try resetting the Windows Update components or just reinstall Windows.

Fast Ring Windows Insiders have been treated to yet another new Windows 10 build. The latest release, arriving with build number 14986, is now available for PC. As you'd expect, build 14986 contains an absolute slew of new features, fixes and improvements for Insiders to check out, along with its share on known issues to be aware of.

Build 14987 just began rolling out and it may take some time to show up on your PC, so don't fret if you don't see it right away. In the meantime, you can read through Microsoft's full changelog for the update, which we've included below:

What's New?

Turn off your computer, change volume with voice commands: Being able to control your computer with just your voice is one of the top requests we get with Cortana, so we're excited to say that we've added several new features to Cortana that let you do just that. Now you can shut down your PC just by asking Cortana. You can also restart, lock, or put the system to sleep, and raise and lower your system volume with just your voice. Give it a try and let us know what you think!

Cortana loves music: You can now use Cortana to control music playback on more of your favorite music apps (EN-US only). Starting with this build, we've enabled natural language compatibility for iHeartRadio and TuneIn Radio. This will work on both, above the lock screen (PC is locked) as well as below! You can try queries like?

Microsoft won't release new Windows 10 Fast ring builds until 'installation bug' is squashed

Microsoft released its most recent Windows 10 preview, build 16257, for PCs in the Fast ring on August 2. Last week, its plans to roll out a newer build were hindered by a 'blocking bug', but it had aimed to release a new preview sometime this week.

However, those plans have been ruined by the discovery of another show-stopping bug. Yesterday, Windows Insider Program chief Dona Sarkar tweeted: "We've hit a rollback bug with our build candidate. Keeping [an] eye on more data so no Fast Ring build release today."

Today, Dona tweeted again, confirming that more time is needed to squash that bug:

That means that the next Windows 10 Fast ring build won't be released until Monday at the earliest, almost three weeks after the last PC build rolled out. It also seems unlikely that a new Windows 10 Mobile build will be released before then; in response to an enquiry on Twitter, Dona said: "We generally try and flight [PC and phone builds] together to make it easier on our flighting and feedback systems."

Microsoft today released Windows 10 build 14372 to the Fast ring for both PC and Mobile. The news comes just a day after releasing build 14371 for PCs.

As we get closer to the release of the Anniversary Update next month, we can expect builds to become more stable while omitting new features. Combined with the fact that we got a new build so recently, it's no surprise that there's not much new in today's build.

Mainly, the new build offers a new extension for Microsoft Edge:

Evernote Web Clipper for Microsoft Edge: Clip the web pages you want to keep. Save them in Evernote and easily find them on any device. Visit our extensions page at the Microsoft Edge Dev website to learn more and try it out for yourself.

Dona Sarkar also wants to thank everyone for participating in the Bug Bash. Insiders completed ~71,000 Quests and filed 81,217 pieces of feedback.

If you're on the Fast ring, you can get build 14372 by checking for updates. If not, you can sign up for the Fast ring on PCs by going to Windows Update -> Advanced options, turning on Insider builds, and when the PC reboots, setting it to the Fast ring. For Mobile, you'll need the Windows Insider app.

Microsoft today released the second Redstone 2 Insider Preview build 14905, this time for both PCs and phones. That makes it the first Windows 10 Mobile Redstone 2 build.

The news isn't particularly surprising. Yesterday, the company released 14393.82 to the Release Preview ring; however, both the Fast and Slow rings saw nothing new.

There weren't any new features listed for the PC build, but there are a number of fixes, improvements, and known issues.

Here are the fixes and improvements:

We have fixed an issue causing a large blank space to appear between the address bar and web content after the address bar moves back to the top when opening a new tab in Microsoft Edge.
We have updated Narrator Scan mode for table navigation to now support CTRL + ALT + HOME to go to the beginning of the table CTRL + ALT + END to go to the end of the table.
Microsoft Edge now supports the CTRL + O keyboard shortcut for setting focus to the address bar.
We fixed an issue resulting in Sketchpad and Screen Sketch crashing after trying to change the ink color twice in a row when the ruler was visible.
Here are the known issues:

Support for kernel debugging over 1394 has been removed, but will be available in an upcoming kit release. A work-around will be posted to the Debugging Tools for Windows Blog shortly.
Adobe Acrobat Reader crashes when you try to launch it.
Cortana?s text to speech capabilities is not working in this build. For example, Cortana won?t be able t... Read more

Hi all,

Been on the insider program for over a year now, continued using it post release and very happy so far. Currently on slow ring.

Just installed a new motherboard (which I know Windows see as a new computer) and I'm now getting a watermark to "Activate Windows". I'm logged in using the same email address.

Any ideas how to remove it?? Or am going to have to buy a full copy now I've changed motherboard?

Thanks.

Answer:Slow ring insider, new motherboard, W10 asking to activate

Did you have a prior retail version (not OEM) of Windows that you used to upgrade to 10? If you do, try to activate with that product key. Starting with the fall update (version 1511) you are able to activate that way. If it was a system builder version you are probably out of luck.

Hi everyone,
We have one more surprise for you this week ? Build 10162, releasing to the Fast ring.

We?re at the point in the development of Windows 10 where nearly every build is getting out to our internal rings, and passing the criteria for release to Windows Insiders. We?re focused at this point on bug fixing and final polish, so it?s much easier for each build to get all the way through than earlier in the cycle when we?re adding big new features. So now we find ourselves in a great situation, with an abundance of build candidates. We?re deciding how long to let each build stay with Windows Insiders so you can really exercise them and send feedback on any problems that you?re hitting. I know many of you have said you?d love daily builds, but it is actually important sometimes to get a few days on a build so that all of the code that does deferred work (like OneDrive sync, search indexing, background updating, etc.) can run and we can get feedback and error reports.

Suggestion only :
Use this link to download build 15058 iso file.
Burn the iso file to a bootable media (DVD or USB).
Use the media to do a Clean Install.http://forums.windowscentral.com/e?l...token=nR3h9aAA
I suggested Clean Install because you might have something that has prevented the system to update.
Clean Install will in fact start fresh. No carry-over baggage.
After 15058 is installed successfully and activated, hopefully, Windows Update will offer you the most current build 15063.

Answer:On average how long does it take to get a new build on fast ring?

What phone are you using. It may be that your present build is all you can get.
Post your phone model for more help.

So I haven't been following the fast ring change logs as of late because I have found this update so far to be not very interesting for mobile. Especially when compared to the anniversary update for mobile. My question is, I know that Windowed Apps and continuum improvements are planned for this update, but have they been implemented yet? I haven't seen any info or videos on these improvements other than a MSFT display video put out a while ago.

As an Fast Ring Insider, my current build is 10586.71. Have never been offered build .107. Noticed that it has now been released for Slow Ring, so changed to Slow Ring, but it is still not being offered on my 950XL.

Answer:Is it possible to run DISM to repair the image of a Fast Ring preview?

I suppose the real question here is, as the ISO for the fast ring preview is no actually available, could an ISO from a previous build do the job? If not, how can you repair these images?

My monitor will not go into low power mode after the 20 minutes that I set since a couple of fast ring updates ago. I have to manually turn the power off when I leave the computer. I have tried changing the timeout. Any ideas?

I noticed tonight that Ad Blocking (using Ad Block Plus) just stopped working. I tried ad block, and it too wouldn't work.
Any one else on the fast ring have this happen?
Uninstalled/reinstalled, no help. It really makes Edge a pain on certain sites. But at least I have newsflow for headline reading.

I'm set to the fast ring, but have not gotten many updates recently. I think the ATT 950 version was not on a list that got firmware a couple of weeks ago, then last week it was. Just wanting to know the latest and greatest for this phone. Adding what it would be NOT on the inside rings would also be helpful.

I love this feature well when it works. but everytime I get a new build it gets broken. is there another area to turn this on for wired head set. I turn it on in the Cortana settings I like it to be for blue tooth and wired. I mostly use wired though.

Answer:I am on the fast ring and seems like everytime a new build happens it breaks voice to text?

If you desperately need that function, I think it's best if you stop using the fast ring and move to the release preview ring :)
