BSOD 133 from time to time on two Lenovo Yoga 2 13

Question: BSOD 133 from time to time on two Lenovo Yoga 2 13

Hello,

I have here two Lenovo Yoga 2 13 which initialy run with Windows 8.1. After the Windows 10 Upgrade this two laptops starts to throw the BSOD 133. There is no way to replicate the BSOD. The two laptops can work for a week without the BSOD and the next week the BSOD 133 happens every second day and after this it works again for a few days. It happens when the laptop is in use or when it just stand there - I didn't see any thing which is always the same so I could say this triggers the BSOD.
I made a clean install (removed everything - partitions and so on) of Windows 10 Home on one of this two Yogas. But the bluescreen wasn't fixed. Same like before. Bluescreenview tells me always the same drivers: igdkmd64.sys or hal.dll or hdaudbus.sys and always ntoskrnl.exe. I updated the sound and gfx driver and tweaked the energy settings but nothing what I try helps. Did I miss something in the minidump files and another driver is the problem?

Thank you
Thomas

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: BSOD 133 from time to time on two Lenovo Yoga 2 13

Hi hitzi,

Welcome to the 10forums

Please check Lenovo for driver updates for the touchpad drivers for the Windows 10 Home system, per the dumps and WER logs the Synaptics drivers look to be causing the crashes.

Please upload logs from the DM Log Collector for the Windows 10 Pro system, analysis for each system is required as 2 systems having the same BSODs does not mean the causes are the same.

Please fill in your system specsPlease follow this tutorial and download the tool. The tool will give you detailed information about your system specs, please fill in your system specs more completely including PSU, cooling and other used stuff like mouse, keyboard, monitor, case, etc.
The PSU, cooling and other stuff are NOT mentioned in the tool. How to fill in your system specs:

I have a Lenovo yoga with Windows Rt. Each time it updates, I have to recover the computer or else it will not let me access wifi. This happens every time there is a windows update. Why?

Answer:Why do I have to recover my Lenovo Yoga with Windows Rt each time it updates?

assuming you have already tried known troubleshooting and refreshing was a last resort.
is it one specific update? can you install them individually/in small groups to see if a single specific update breaks Wi-Fi?

I have been a Lenovo customer for over ten years - the X200s is still the best laptop I've ever owned. I recently bought a Yoga 900 to replace it, and I have been nothing but frustrated and disappointed with it.   The list of issues in order of frustration -   - Within the first two weeks of purchasing this new, "high end" laptop, I closed the screen inadvertantly with the power cable draped across the keyboard.  Didn't do anything unusual, but the flimsy screen has popped and shattered the touchscreen layer, making the "Yoga" aspect of the Yoga rendered useless.  After enquiring about getting it repaired, was told I needed to ship it to some far away place, pay $200 just to have someone take a look at it, and that it was likely a $1,000 repair.  After just paying $2,000 for a new laptop - this is absurd.  I then tried to get it repaired at other places local to me, and was told that parts for it were unavailable from Lenovo.  I rely on my laptop for work, and cannot afford the delay of having it shipped overseas for repair for god knows how long. - The bluetooth constantly drops out, and now the driver completely malfunctions.  I am now in a position where it won't even allow me to reinstall the driver.  Bluetooth mouse rendered useless, cannot resolve. - Printers and scanners are incredibly frustrating to connect, and when they finally do, and function for a period of time, they randomly seem to lose... Answer:Yoga p40 - Time runs faster than actual time

Hi there, Fabriceknecht -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

I would suggest looking at your notebook BIOS page, check to make sure the clock date and time is accurate.  Also - check for updated BIOS files, then flash to newer BIOS if present. Most of the time this can work to resolve this issue, if nothing helps, it may need to be sent to a service center for hardware replacement.

Update us how it goes.

I have problems with the boot time and shut down time of my Thinpad Edge. It takes about 30 seconds (the loading screen) after I log in using password until the desktop appears. And then everytime I shut down the computer, it keeps showing the "waiting for background program to close" screen but there aren't any program listed in the screen. Does anyone know how to improve this?

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad Edge 14 experiencing slow boot time and shut down time

hey nitefury, did you install any new software or run and anti-virus programs ? There are some software that takes system resources but wont show at the "waiting for the background program to close" section.also check if you have any application that "runs when windows starts"

Playing Skyrim runs fine for at least 30 minutes before the bsod. This has happened several times, this is the most recent crash. Zip file attached.

Answer:BSOD playing Skyrim, 1000007E this time. New crash code each time

The latest BSOD was caused by the Linksys AE2500 driver, check if there's a newer version available.

Hello Sonam.

Nice configuration. But it is the display driver that caused here.

Code:

What I have seen, the October edition is somehow problematic on a lot of machines. So I would suggest you to do what I did myself.....
Uninstall nVidia display driver using Driver Fusion , and then install an older version which was stable there.

And, you should install Service Pack 1.

Let us know the results.

Hi everyone, recently I switched from my mini-itx board P8Z77-I to my old Z77A-GD65, since then I'm having stability issues.
My 2500k was stable at 1,32v, cooled by an H100i, my GPU is at @1200/1500, also tested and stable (7870xt), but now randomly the system hangs, with no bsod, mostly while gaming but also one time while I was using Chrome with a bunch of tabs opened, including YT; only one time I got a bsod, full report attached
Thanks in advance, Gabriel.

Answer:System Hang (mostly gaming, also 1 time using Chrome), 1 time BSOD

Hello.

I have been experiencing bluee screens of death in the last 9 months.
Sometime , at 3-4 days it just happens , randomly.
I hope you guys can help me.
System specs :

Intel Quad Core 2.5 GHZ
8 GB RAM
ATi RADEON 5850 HD
OS : Windows 7 x64 Ultimate full

The age of the system is about 2 years except for 4 gb ram and the video card which have been added last year.
the OS was installed when I added the parts above , so it's 1 year old.
The BSOD happens even if I am in a game , or on desktop , or in messenger.

I am attaching the file with the dumps and the health report to this thread.

Thank you

Answer:Random BSOD , from time to time , during normal daily activity!

the desktop window manager is crashing.
Are you using any custom themes or shells?

I do notice one problem you have though. You have the old Asus utility driver.
This needs to be replaced as it's a known trouble maker in windows 7.
I happen to have an asus board myself.
the new copy of the file will be attached here.
Manually overwriting the old one will work (I did it on my own system)
however, you will need to boot Safe Mode and locate ASACPI.sys
by navigating to c:\windows\system32\drivers
and overwrite the copy of the file there with the one I'm providing.
Then reboot normally.
This will solve that issue at least.
If the problem generally happens when the computer is entering a low power state, this would definitely be the cause of your problems.

Hi, after using Google and searching through forums I'm still stuck with the following problem. For a installation at the Deutsches Museum in Munich I need the Yoga to boot itself at a defined date/time. Shutting down is not the problem, but automatic boot is. Normally there are two ways how to do this- Wake on LAN- Wake on RTC- Wake on Power (if a PC gets connected to a power source it will start automatically) I'm missing those options in the BIOS settings. But maybe I've overread something. Maybe I have to look somewhere else. The only source I found (not yet tested) was https://tinkertry.com/wol-over-usb3 where I have to built my own solution. Anyway, is there any chance to boot the the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro or Yoga 3 Pro at a specific date/time? Best wishes

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro/Yoga 3 Pro - Missing BIOS function to automatically boot the Yoga at specific time

I have been spending hours to find a way to apply WOL to a yoga 3 pro. I could not believe that it is simply not there. Is that to protect the user or a mistake? Is there an update I missed somewhere, or is a correction  being prepared? Thanks

Hi folks I have done as much research as I possibly could before resorting to using a forum but at this point I've hit a wall. I was experiencing BSOD after about a half hour of use of my PC guaranteed the BSOD is a driver power state failure. I updated all my drivers thinking that would fix my problem unfortunately it did not it continued for a few days. I use my laptop for work so I decided to restore to system defaults. It seemed to be working fine after that until I was downloading windows updates and I blue screened same message appears Driver Power State Failure. After I reboot updating windows through the updater fails everytime. So I just restored my PC to factory once more. (BSOD once during the downloading of factory software) Anyways here is the debug file. Thanks ahead of time for looking.

Answer:BSOD all the time. Time to take to blue sceen anywhere from 30 mins+

Welcome.

This laptop ran COMPLETELY fine for like about a month, and then this started to happen.
Since I have my wifi on auto connect, the computer automatically crashes every time I start the computer normally.

I booted up into safe mode without wireless, and it did not BSOD. Uninstalled the wifi driver (Qualcomm), booted normally, and no BSOD.
Right now I'm using my phone's 3G connection through LAN hotspot, and there's no problem. But whenever I try to connect through wifi, this happens (please excuse the low quality):
http://puu.sh/4jR8b.mp4

What's weird is that the laptop has been running extremely fine for the past month or so, and it still does with everything else. I seriously hope this isn't a hardware issue.
I also included a picture of the specs.

Answer:BSOD any time I try to connect to wifi with Lenovo y410p

Your bugchecks all point to what you would expect (and what is shown in the video)
which is the wireless driver.

Hello,

I`m having an BSOD error, and it also refuses to write a minidump and kerneldump.
So I can`t use any analysis tools. And yes, it`s enabled!

Stop message:
*** STOP: 0x00000F4 (0x0000000000000003, 0xFFFFFA800F209B30, 0xFFFFFA800F209E10, 0xFFFFF80003787240)

After restart it sometimes does not find the primary harddrive.

The error pops up from time to time. Sometimes from browsing the web, downloading or playing a game. It even pops up while I`m not doing anything at all.

I did a checkdisk and it turned out clean.

Regards,
ExibeR

Answer:BSOD - STOP: 0x000000F4 from time to time

Hello Exi and welcome to Sevenforums.

I did not find any crashdumps. Make sure they're enabled.

Quote:
To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Press Start, in the Search Box type: "sysdm.cpl" (without the quotes), press Enter.
* Select the Advanced tab, click on Startup and Recovery Settings.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information headline select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box.
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK till you're out of the dialogue.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

Copy all the content from %systemroot%\Minidump, zip it all, and upload it.

Best Regards,
Frederik.

BSOD many different causes over time

Lately just been having trouble plugging iphone in but computer has not been great for a while now im using an old IDE harddrive atm due to bluescreen happening when i have OS installed on a SATA drive i have tried different SATA leads and different sata power leads. I have tried downgrading and updating bios to no avail

whenever i have a another SATA drive connected my drive sounds like it is spinning down very unusual noise then 50% of time it will bluescreen after hearing spinning down noise. currently i have IDE with OS on win7 32bit currently and another 2TB harddrive just with alot of data on nothing running from it just files. that drive always seems fine even though its a SATA drive whenever i run an OS from SATA drive though seems to crash.

Any light you can shed on this would be appreciated i will attach the files created from dump.

Hello all,

I have a problem when playing certain games- I get crash caused by atikmpag.sys. Before that I had problem with atikmdag.sys. Sometimes I can play few days without crash, sometimes i get a crash. For example, in gta 4 i get a crash after 2mins.

GPU is MSI 6850 OC 1GB
What I tried:
-SFCSCAN -passed
-Fresh and updated windows 10 installed
-Tried with latest catalyst drivers and with beta crimson drivers. *(Didn't tried with drivers that Windows 10 has to offer)*
- Downloaded SEAGATE tool for testing HDD. All short and long tests passed. No bad sectors.
- GPU tested in Furmark

-Latest BIOS installed
- PSU has enough watts and amperage.
-Temperature of gpu is 75 max when playing games at full load.
-Crashes happening with a stock CPU and overclocked , no difference.
-Tried with EXTRACT atikmpag.sy_ method...
-I run windows memory diagnostic and memorytest from windows, all good.
-I run Intel burn stress test-system is stable

When I run driver verifier, I got that 3 drivers are not verified- atikmpag.sys, atikmdag.sys and some atihd...something. Now i get update for Audio Device AMD and its verified. Still first two left unverified.
Im using Avast antivirus program. Now I will put exclusion for drivers folder, just to be sure.

Now Im runing driver verifier, still no BSOD.

This is a problem that is driving me crazy. I am gettig the dreaded bsod 5 to 8 times a day but for no apparent reason: no programs are running strangely and all the common functions seem to be working o.k.. It must be said that I am not very computer savy but I have tried the various help tips in the help section and even have removed a couple of programs that I thought might have been causing problems.
I?m running 7,1 on a HP DV6, 2.2gb intel 7, quad core, 8gb ram, 1tb hd.and have about 90 additional programs installed. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Hello, folks.

I'd just like to say that I have been coming here for quite some time and never even needed to make a single post because you had all the answers waiting for me, and I should thank you all a great deal for that. One of the finest communities on the web, and I'm proud to say I've linked at least a couple of dozen people to these boards, if not more. They all have recieved great help as well.

This time, however, I don't think I am capable of helping myself, and I think I require the assistance of a pro. I myself, while having been able to help myself before, really have very little knowledge of this stuff. Now, I did almost everything in the READ ME AND RUN ME FIRST thread, a few things I was not able to do. I think I know which malware problems I have, I am just unsure of how to rid myself of them, and I'd rather not take a chance and delete something important.

Anyway, I have attached my HiJack This log file, hopefully someone can find the time to help me as this site has many many times before.

Thanks, all the best...

-Eric

Answer:Long time reader, first time poster...Big time problem...

I need the logs from the two online scans listed in the READ ME.

6: Online Virus And Trojan Scanning

Please run the below two online scanning tools and make sure you save and attach the logs later to any request for help that you post. From step 5 you should already be in safe mode but you will need to reconnect your cable now and possibly reboot and choose Safe Mode with Networking Support. If you cannot connect in safe mode for any reason (like dial-up users), run the online scanners in normal boot mode. You will need to use Internet Explorer to run these online scans.

*** MAKE SURE YOU RUN BITDEFENDER BEFORE PANDA ACTIVE SCAN ***

Bitdefender agree to the license and then select Scan. Once Bitdefender completes the scan:

Click-on Click here to view the report

When the window comes up with the report. Click File, Save As.... and then change the Save as type to Text File (*.txt)

Change the file name to something short like bdscan1.txt

Then save it to your Desktop or anywhere else you can find it to upload here as an attachment.

Post the bdscan1.txt file as an ATTACHMENT.

Panda ActiveScan It will only fix certain viruses and trojans. Most items found will not be fixed. When it finishes the scan click on See Report . Then in the next window click Save Report. The default report name is Activescan.txt. Just save it where you can find it so you can attach to your message when you begin a thread with a request for help.

I also noticed that you have received a considerable number of errors from Honor Buddy Launcher. I would suggest you try whatever you need to do to fix those errors. Perhaps there is a WOW Forum that can help or uninstall it.

I would also like you to keep a close watch on your CPU and GPU temps and let me know what they are running during gaming,

Usual causes: Device driver
This can also be caused by RAM or hard-drive corruption.

The header for the pool allocation has become corrupted, each header also has a pool tag which describes the purpose of the allocation. There seems to be problems with how Windows is allocating memory to drivers.

More specifically, the pool freelist has become corrupted, indicated by parameter 3 in blue, the freelist is a data structure used by Windows for memory allocation, it works by freeing region by linking it to the free list, and then allocation memory by removing it from the free list and then using it.

What To Do -

Run Driver Verifier to scan for any corrupted drivers which may be causing problems, this program works by running various stress tests on drivers, in order to produce a BSOD which will locate the driver; run for least 24 hours:Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

It's critical that my PC keeps the exact time as I record TV shows on it so just a few seconds off one way or the other will make me miss the start or end of my shows.

I found it was drifting off too much between syncs so I found a program that lets me set it to sync daily, however it seems like most of the time it gets the time completely wrong, often as much as 30-90 seconds off. I did notice that when syncing manually in the time settings it normally gets the right time each time, so I don't know why the scheduled syncs get the wrong time.

I did try several of the time servers with the same results.

Is there just no way to get the Windows time sync to work properly and if not are there free third party programs that can do it reliably?

Thanks

I sent in my Yoga 13 on the 22nd of April because it would not turn on (no power).  I went and checked at a store with another cable and it did not work which told me it was not an adapter problem.  They received it on the 25th (24th actually) and the only message I have gotten online was they they were waiting for a part.  It is now the 7th and when I called I was told that they received the part (an AC in?) on the 6th and I would not get it back until the 17th of May.  Does anyone have an idea on how to escalate this issue?   I am not a complainer, but at the least I would expect given the time that they already had it, that I can get next day shipping to get it back to me as fast as possible.  Anyone have any thoughts?   Thanks,

Answer:Time to Fix Yoga 13

Hi mgbergman, welcome to the forums,

sorry to read about your experience so far.  In order to escalate your case to a complaint you need to call up support on the same number as before, quote your current case number and request the agent to escalate, create a complaint, on your behalf.  They will also be able to inform you about how the complaints proceedure works.

Hi KimK & Welcome to the forums ^_^,

I have analysed your dump files and below has been provided an analysis of the same for informative purposes :-

Code:
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.
If a kernel debugger is available get the stack backtrace.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000049, memory referenced
Arg2: 0000000000000002, IRQL
Arg3: 0000000000000001, bitfield :

bit 3 : value 0 = not an execute operation, 1 = execute operation (only on chips which support this level of status)

Answer:Yoga 3 Pro fan is turned on almost all the time

Hi Darkbound1. Download HWInfo64 and check the CPU temperature.2. If the temperature is high (e.g. Idle at 60+C) or higher, contact Tech Support. (Thermal Paste may have dried up or not applied). Usually, when the temperature is low, the fan would either be off or on low speed.

Recently i bought a Lenovo y500 laptop with 12 ram and 16gigs of SSD. It came with Windows 8 by deffault and what i wanted was to install Linux Ubuntu 12.04 alognside with the Windows 8. It didn't work out, because i could only log into linux. When i tried to log in in Widonws it said: "unknown command drivemap      invalid EFI file path, so i used the one key recovery. It loaded Windows but i noticed 2 things:1st. After loading the Lenovo logo the screen turns black without the cursor on it and stays that way for about 17-25 sec. That means that from 20 sec boot time now it is 40+.How could i fix that one?2nd. After creating the backup i divided the 1tb disk into smaller discs and after the rocovery they were the way i left them with all the games and media on them. I thought that the one key recovery would undo the partiton i have made. The 2nd one isnt bugging me out so much but the 20 secs extra boot time do. The changes i have made in bios are disabling secure boot and switching boot mode from UEFI to legacy. After that i switched secure boot to enabled and the boot mode to UEFI as it was in the beginning.

Answer:Lenovo y500 black screen after the lenovo logo slows down boot time

hi psskobraa,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Regarding your questions:
1. The additional 17-25sec boot time is probably caused by the UEFI Firmware / UEFI boot loader (see this flowchart) - this probably got modified when you installed Ubuntu. Can you try to boot back into the BIOS, press F9 to load default settings then press F10 to save It settings. If this doesn't work, is the boot time the same when Disabling Secure Boot and UEFI set to Disabled/Legacy first?

2. OneKey Recovery usually reimage the OS partition only (i.e. C:\) and will not affect any other partitions (i.e. D:\)

Hi, I just bought a thinkpad yoga 14 yesterday and to my disapointment I discovered that the fan runs all the time, even when the laptop is idling. I had the system replaced with another, but the same problem occurs. I downloaded a program to messure the tempature of the computer and this is what it tells me while I do normal browsing (not even running a video): CPU: 53 cmotherboard 52chard-drive 36 Can this be fixed threw a BIOS update? I am afraid it is a problem with the heat sink and the thermal paste. Does anyone have a similiar issue?

Answer:Thinkpad yoga 14 fan runs all the time

It must be just your luck. Mine never turns on unless im doing some serious gaming.

Yoga 11, Windows 8.1 RT Just got my Yoga and I love it.  However, whenever the power cord is disconnected, I can't figure out how much time is remaining on my battery.  With other laptops, I just hover over the battery icon in the System Tray and it will show time remaining.  With the Yoga, it always just gives the percentage of battery remaining.  Are there any settings that I can adjust to resolve this? All input is appreciated.  Thanks!

Answer:Yoga 11: Battery Time Remaining

Are you talking about the Yoga 11 or Yoga 11S here? You have to wait a little bit (few minutes) before Windows shows the remaining battery life in hours and minutes in the system tray.Just look at the percentage left, the estimated time remaining is well just an estimate, and can change quickly depending on the workload.

I am curious what kind of run time others are getting on their Yoga 900. The claims were that it would get around 8 hours, which would be average for an ultrabook. I am getting more like 4.5 hours, which seems low. I keep my brightness around 50-75% and my normal usage would be for browsing the web and typing in Evernote. What has your experience been with the batter? *I know the claims from Lenovo are based on very low usage and low brightness. I am asking for your real world experience.

Answer:What kind of battery run time are you getting with Yoga 900?

That seems low. I am getting 6 hours with the screen on 50% and I leave the auto dimming funtion on. If I go to 30% screen display I can get 8 hours. About the only thing that really kills my battery is Spotify. Otherwise I use Firefox browser and not Chrome or Edge browser.

Hello all, you must be familiar with the date and time display in the task bar at the extreme right end.  In a few of the machines we have supplied, this time keeps getting slower.  That is in a span of about 3 days, the time slows down by 2 or 3 minutes.  We are system integrators and have deployed this machine in a shop floor in a critical application.  The output from our systems have to be filed with several production documents and mismatch of event times cause lot of problems.  These machines are on a private network and therefore we want to rely  on the time kept by the machine only.    What might be causing this problem?  Where should we begin?   Ganesh

Answer:Idea Pad Yoga 13 Loses time

I found that the default Windows time synchronisation server was not working so changed to time-a.nist.gov. Check what yours is set to under "Change Date and Time settings" and then the "Internet Time" tab.

Hello,  Lately my laptop has been frequently freezing and crashing - giving me the blue screen.  Today I have narrowed it down to it happening every time I move the screen to close it, even just a little bit. I noticed today that there is also a high pitched sound under the upper left side of the keyboard when I move it like this. After this it will take 2-3 minutes for everything to freeze and the blue screen will be there. The blue screens that appear has one of two different messages on it - either 'critical process died' or somthing like 'store-error' (sorry, I'm not remembering this one very clear) It asks to wait for it to collect an error report - but it never get's past 0% so I just turn it off and start again.  I'm not sure where to start trying to track down how to fix this or what is going on... and I'm not very familiar with computer languages, but if someone can help me that would be great!  Thanks

Hi, Lenovo claims the X1 (4th gen) or X1 Yoga can last 11 hours on battery. Great numbers but I guess nobody experienced it.The best I can get is a top 5 hours making sure that the system is on power save mode and about 6 hours when the Battery saver is enabled on Windows 10. I had to install a program to switch to save mode every time the laptop is running on battery. If not I forget to switch to Power Save mode and the battery only last 2 hours. I also pay attention to background program that may eat CPU.Honestly, 6 hours of battery life is pretty good but not even close the 11 hours claimed by Lenovo. The new X1 will have 16 hours of battery life, it means 8 hours in reality. Here are my questions. How many hours do you get on your X1 4gen or X1 Yoga? What did you do to improve it?Any secret recipe?

Hi all - I have a Lenovo S1 Yoga (still with Windows 8.1), and although I see on this forum that there are some trackpad issues, I haven't necessarily seen anyone have this issue.  My Yoga works flawlessly for the most part.  However, I've noticed some issues pop up if the computer's been on for days on end.  One thing I've noticed is occassionally, if the laptop's been on for many days and I go to restart, it'll lock up during the shutdown process (i.e., when the white circles are rotating), so I'll have to force the shutdown.

Another issue I've noticed recently is one I care more about.  If the computer's been on for a long time, and then I open the screen and actually go to use it as a laptop, the trackpad will be very laggy.  My external Microsoft mouse still works fine, but the trackpad is laggy.  Restarting the computer DOES fix the issue.  I use my computer as a desktop 95% of the time.  But, I don't want to have to restart my computer every time I actually want to use it as a laptop with the trackpad.  I've also just noticed the issue, so I don't know how often it happens or how long it takes for it to become laggy. I just know that the last two times I've gone to use my computer as a laptop, it's done this.  Does anyone know what might be causing this issue and how to fix it?  Thanks a lot!

Answer:S1 Yoga - Trackpad seems to get laggy after prolonged time on

How do you feel about updating your BIOS, drivers, or Widnows to the latest? There is some lenovo app that you can run to check if you drivers and etc. are the latest versions or if they need updates. It is hard to advise you if you say yourself your notebook is not updated to the latest and that included that changes lenovo made to the BIOS and the updates of the drivers. In the worst case reset your S1 to factory settings to have it as new as when you first got it.

P.S. I also wonder if that night not be heat issue, after you use the computer for such a long time it is a bit overheated and does not respond to touch well, but the S1 is pretty cold most of the time. I assume that you want to keep your prgrams on all of the time, and you would not fancy some scheduled rest othe computer during the night.

Since the day I got my Yoga 13 it's had trouble connecting to my home WiFi network. It typically takes about 10-20 attempts before the connection succeeds. Once it's connected, the wifi works fine. I have an older D-Link router (DI-524), which supports only WEP, WPA, and WPA-PSK (TKIP) security. If I switch the router to WEP or WPA, or turn off security, the problem goes away. I can see in the Windows WLAN Auto Config event log that it's timing out on authentication. But it will eventually connect if I let it keep retrying for a while. I have half a dozen other devices on the same network, and none of them have this problem. I've tried the Yoga on a few other networks, and it works fine on every network I've tried, though I haven't found another network that uses TKIP authentication to try. I may break down and buy a new router that supports newer authentication modes, but I'd like to understand what's going on. Is anyone else having this problem? I had another problem with this Yoga 13, bad memory that was causing frequent blue screens. I sent it back to Lenovo twice -- the first time all they did was re-image the SSD; second time they replaced the memory and that fixed the blue screens. As far as I can tell, they made no attempt to reproduce the WiFi connection problem. Now I have the disk loaded up with applications, so I'm reluctant to send it back to them again.

I just got a new Yoga 13, and it works pretty good. But now I have an issue. When it's in the laptop mode, the touch keyboard pops up all the time. When I am editing a document or browsing the Internet using the actual keyboard, the touch keyboard pops up every 1 minute or so and blocks half of the screen. It's really annoying and I believe this should not happen. Wish to know how to solve this problem.

Hi, It's my second day with this machine, Lenovo just fixed the fan issue luckily the BIOS released the within a day I purchased the laptop (lucky me). Another minor quirk I am noticing, though.  When on battery, the remaining time in XXHrs XXMins keeps fluctuating.  At a point when the battery is more than 80%, it can show 3hrs 38mins, and within a few min, it can jump to 6hrs 46mins and again drop down to 2hrs 20mins all within a matter of minutes. It looks more like a dynamic value that keeps changing based on the load at that instant.  Anyone else noticed this issue?  Or is there a setting I need to tweak?

Hey guys, I've heard a few other people mention this problem but can't find a thread on it.A few days after I got my Yoga 13, I noticed that programs- most notably metro apps, such as the calendar, weather, etc, can take as long as 15 seconds to load up whenever I first try to launch them. Also, there will be times where a metro app will be loading for 20+ seconds and then just report an error message that it crashed.Has anyone else experienced this? Aside from Office 365, Chrome, and Firefox, I have not installed anything else on this computer. Any suggestions? Cheers!

I purchased this computer last year and it has been this way since I got it, but I finally wanna try to figure out what is going on.

I have a Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro (1370) with a Samsung 840 Evo SSD installed. It is running Windows 10.

From cold boot, it takes anywhere from 4-10 minutes to boot. Almost all of this time is spent with the Lenovo "boot splash screen" and the Windows 10 loading circle spinning. About 10 seconds before everything "boots" to my Windows log in, the screen flickers black. I know once it does this I have about 10 seconds to go.

I assumed there was something wrong with my Windows install, so two days ago I backed everything up and did a fresh Windows 10 Home install... I thought that would do it, but nope, still happening.

I attempted a BIOS update and a BIOS downgrade (a6cn58ww and a6cn56ww) and neither changed anything. I fiddled around with various BIOS settings too and nothing changed.

Is this an SSD problem? Or something else? My desktop has a similar SSD and it boots in about 12 seconds.

If I am in the wrong forum, please let me know.

About a month after I started using it, the Say the Time clock program I bought stopped launching the management menu when I right click the date/time field in the task tray (notification area).

Therefore, I can't use or edit the program.

Neither the touchpad nor the cordless mouse works.

Other than this problem, my computer works great. Every single item that's meant to be right clicked works for me.

Is there a way I can generate a log to show the software manufacturer (Provenio) that it's their problem and not mine?

I am a novice user but I can follow instructions.

However, I don't want to put my computer at risk if I make an entry error.

Or is it obvious that it's a software problem?

I've been using computers for 18 years and I've never had this problem until I bought this software and used it for about a month.

I just wanted a conclusive way of putting the ball back in the manufacturer's court.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Regards.

and save it to your desktop

Double click it to start it Note: If running Windows Vista or Windows 7 you will need to right click the file and select Run as administrator and click Continue or Allow at the User Account Control Prompt.

Click the check boxes next to Application and System located under Select log to query on the upper left

Under Select type to list on the right click the boxes next to Error and Warning Note: If running Windows Vista or Windows 7 also click the box next to Critical (not XP).

Under Number or date of events select Number of events and type 20 in the box next to 1 to 20 and click Run
Once it finishes it will display a log file in notepad

Hi,
I am using Nokia Lumia 720. The results are the best so far.
However today I started facing following issue.
It is giving me the message 'Slide down to power off' automatically in regular intervals without clicking any button.
When I slide down it should shut down and stay shut down till I start again, however it is restarting automatically and again flashing the same message.
The middle button is not working for me.
Can anyone please advice me what can be the solution for this ?

Seems like the power button is stuck. If your phone is still under warranty, send it for repair. If not, try removing the battery cover. then turn on the phone without the cover installed.

My Yoga is taking several minutes to connect to my wifi after I bring it out of sleep mode. I've used Lenovo System Update to get the latest drivers, and when those didnt fix the issue I went straight to the manufacturer website. Updating the driver has not fixed my issue in anyway. I've disabled buletooth and played with some power options to try and fix it to no avail. Other Yogas in the office have no issues at all.

Can anyone think of anything that I missed? Anything I could try?

Thanks.

I believe I have been experiecing the same thing as you.  I open my laptop, waking it from sleep mode. The Wifi connection symbol in the taskbar with have a "*" in it. Hovering over it, it says "Not connected - Connections are available" If I then click the icon, it almost instantly connects to my connection. Very strange behavior.  Is this an unusual setting that is somewhere in Windows? No additional updates to the driver are available.

The laptop came with Windows 8.1, upgraded to Windows 10, 8 GB ram, i-5 2.2 ghz... My intel drivers and whatnot are updated, but everything I do on here is still delayed and choppy. I really don't think it's my internet connection because even something as simple as typing in the search bar in the bottom left is extremely delayed. I even disconnectted from my WiFi and simply tried highlighting a random space on the start screen, but it didn't actually highlight anything until a few seconds later. The only steam game I've purchased so far, a very basic one (FNaF) ,is far too choppy to play but my brother's 4 year old sub 2.0 ghz laptop runs it just fine. I'm lucky if I can watch a 480p youtube video without the video itself playing, like a choppy slideshow, and the audio going along just fine (so it's not buffering or anything, just the video is choppy). I only have the one steam game and have no other big downloads, there's no shortage of memory. I've been trying to make it run without this  choppiness or delay since I got the laptop a few weeks ago but to no real progress. If it helps, I notice the delay is the worst when it's accompanied by my laptop getting somewhat loud as if it's working really hard, even when I'm offline hardly doing anything. Any suggestions would be appreciated...thanks.

Answer:New ThinkPad Yoga 15 has extremely delayed response time even offline

Hi Can you try to check on Windows if there is any process that is hogging yout CPU or Memory ? Try the Task Manager on the Ctrl+alt+del menu. Also, check the Windows Update process and see if you have all the patches installed or if there is something on progress there, sometime Windows gets un-responsive when it is a big patch installing. Regards

Hello everyone,I have a Yoga S1 20CD which I sent in for repair for a non-functional digitizer, camera and mic. Then I got a message that the request is on hold for a connector cable. I called Lenovo and the agent said she could not know when this part will be avaiable.I then searched the forum and found a few horror stories of laptop being held for weeks in depot for unavailable parts, but none for Yoga S1. So I wanna ask: Has anyone here experienced similar hold for parts for Yoga S1? What was your wait time for an unavailable part? Many thanks!

Can Lenovo please fix this? Every time I resume from sleep, I have to re-run the Synaptics driver install. If I don't do this, I don't have 2-finger swipe functionality.

Answer:Yoga Pro 3 - have to reinstall Synaptics drivers every time it resumes from sleep

Are you running the Lenovo driver, or the driver direct from Synaptics?

I have this machine dual-booting Windows 10 Enterprise and Home. I set up fingerprints on both operating systems, and they both lose my FP's after rebooting into the other OS. The Win10 Ent OS is bitlocked, if that matters, while the Home isn't. It acts like it isn't even looking at fingerprints when I try to log in. Like, it doesn't say "Fingerprint not recognized" or anything. I log in with PIN then add a FP, then lock Windows and try to log in with new FP and it works. If I try to log in with an existing FP of another finger, it says not recognized, so it's acting like I have no fingerprints added every time I reboot. Not sure if this has something to do with dual-booting and one OS being bitlocked, but that's the only idea I have so far. The FP reader worked fine when only Win10 Home was installed. I have the latest driver installed. Rebooting into the same OS does NOT result in losing the FP's, only when switching between the two operating systems.

I found strage behaviour after Windows 8.1 update. When display turns off after some idle time and I turn it on again sound speakers output level is about 30-50% of normal. Volume level in sound mixer is the same as before display turn off. On volume up/down speaker sound level changes but it is still 30-50% of normal. Turn Dolby home theater on/off not helps. Help me solve this ploblem please.

Answer:Yoga 13 Windows 8.1 update - low audio volume after idle time

That is really strange. So when you reboot does it go back to full volume? When you say the display turns off, is it going to sleep, or just dimming the display? You just did the windows update and it started immediately? Also, which model do you have?

Outlook Calendar shows start time in the monthly view but not the end time. I have right clicked on the calendar gone to Other Settings and checkmarked "Show End Time" but the end time still does not show. How do I make the start and end time show in the monthly view?

Answer:Outlook Calendar shows start time in the monthly view but not the end time.

You did not say what version of Outlook.

I am using Outlook 2007 and note the same as you - only the start time is displayed. I note on mine, if the end time was displayed, there would be little to no room for the Subject title so for me, I would rather have the appointment title instead of the end time. I think in a crowded field (as the monthly view can be) that is best for most people.

I don't see a fix for you. However, for a workaround, with Outlook being in "focus", if you hover over the appointment with your mouse, then the stop time is also displayed in a bubble.

One thing that was badly missing in Windows 8 Start Screen was a clock. But now, this shortfall too has been overcomed. Dave Smits has developed a clock application for Windows 8 Start Screen ? Clock Tile. The application makes your start screen complete with a tile that displays time in a live tile and supports x86 and x64 ARM processors. It however, does not include any options for customization. Another feature that is seen as a shortfall is that the date and time appear on a small pprtion of the large tile.
Apart from this, the app is good and ready for download from the Windows Store. Remember, when launched for the first time, Clock Tile asks for your permission to run in the background.

I've been using Webroot Anti-virus with Spy Sweeper but am looking to change as viruses have recently crippled my computer.

I am interested in using Avast and malwarebytes. Can they both be used for real time protection or would they conflict with each other (and/or take up too much resources)? I am looking at getting the paid version of malwearebytes for real time protection.

Would running only one of these programs as real time protection sufficiently protect my computer from virusues, malware and spyware or would using only one leave me vulnerable?

Thanks for any insight here.

Answer:Is it a good idea to run Avast and malwarebytes (real time protection) at the same time?

I see you have an open log topic here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/309829/google-redirect-fake-virus-warnings-antivirus-plus-popup-xp-security-center-and-other-assorted-issues/Please finish up there with m0le before making any changes to your system not called for by m0le.But to answer your question, I highly recommend Avast. As for MBAM, I use the free version for on demand scans. Read this:The full version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware includes the ability to schedule updates and provides a real-time malware protection module that stops malicious processes before they can infect your computer. The Protection Module is not intrusive as it utilizes few system resources and should not conflict with other scanners or anti-virus programs. Keep in mind that Malwarebytes does not act as a real-time protection scanner for every file like an anti-virus program so it is intended to be a supplement, not a substitute. Those who purchase the full version receive a license key via email which includes a lifetime of free upgrades and support. For corporate and business customers, annual licenses are required. Also:Choosing a security toolkit with anti-virus, firewall and anti-malware programs is a matter of personal preference, your technical ability and experience, features offered, the amount of resources utilized, how it may affect system performance and what will work best for your system. A particular combination that works well for one person may not work as well for anot... Read more

Avast Anti-Virus prevents to send emails time to time, it occurred on a computer in my home network, and then on the other one. This Avast does not issue any messages, just emails remain in the Outbox and do not
appear in Sent items.
I know three ways to send emails in this situation. All this three ways are bad.
  1) Exclusion of scanning outgoing emails in the avast settings. This is bad, since sending emails goes unchecked.

  2) Exclusion of checking port 80 in the avast settings. I found it here -
https://forum.avast.com/?topic=143284.0  There is explanation there, why it is bad.

  3) Restart of the computer, just after restarting outgoing emails go normally.
My post app is Live Mail 2012 (Build 16.4.3528.0331).
Can somebody explain this?

Hello,

Satellite A100-192 PSAA9 with ATI X1600 video card.

Despite the fact that I have installed the most recent driver from the Toshiba support site, display darkens (turns off) from time to time with no apparent reason.

I turn off the computer by pushing the on button for several seconds.

When I turn the computer on, the display is still dark although computer boots.

Only after I take the computer battery off and on again and then turn the computer on, the display is OK.

I haven't been able to find out whether it's a hardware or software issue.

Computer is one and a half years old.

I wanted to find out whether anybody has had such an experience before I take the computer to the service center.

Answer:Satellite A100-192 PSAA9: display stills black from time to time

Do you use the Toshiba original preinstalled factory image??

Hi there! I'm running windows xp home on an hp pavilion a400n, although I'm not sure that matters. I also use Firefox as my default browser.

I've downloaded a Google gadget, the calendar, to my desktop. I use the google calendar as my primary appointment book.

The problem is that the time in my calendar gadget and the time in my actual calendar aren't matching. I enter an appointment into my calendar, and then refresh my calendar gadget to see the updates, and the times on the gadget are on hour earlier than the actual calendar.

In trying to figure out what's happening, I also noticed that the timestamps on my messages, incoming and outgoing, are the same time frame off. When a message comes in or goes out, it immediately shows that it's an hour old.

I went in and made sure the operating system clock and the google gadget clock are on the same time and showing the same DST settings. But I'm still having the same problem.

Is there another clock setting I'm missing?

Help, please!

Dear All,

I hope you can help. Recently bought a new LaCie Wireless Space.
I am connected to it as a wi-fi router to get onto the internet.
However, my Time Machine software will not recognise it as a time capsule.
If I search for it in Airport Utility I a message that says "Airport Utility was unable to find any Airport wireless device" etc etc. Yet I am currently connected to it on wi-fi.

Also, if I open Time Machine and "select backup disk" the following appears:
MyShare on "WirelessSpace (Time Machine)"
&
OpenShare on "WirelessSpace (Time Machine)"

But on selecting either of them the following message appears:
Time Machine can't access the backup disk "MyShare". (or "OpenShare")
The operation couldn’t be completed. (OSStatus error 5.)

Finally, if I go into my Disk Utilities , there is no LaCie Wireless Space icon in the left column
&
However, there is a Wireless Sace (Time Machine) icon under the "Shared" column when I click on the computers hard drive icon on the desktop, BUT is states "Connection Failed"

I really have no idea where else to look and what else to do - other than contact LaCie - but they have not got back to me now for 3 days.

Any ideas????

hey guys,

i just bought a new M-Audio Audiophile 2496 soundcard to enjoy great sound in a foobar2000 + flac combination.

i've successfully installed the Vista 32bit drivers in compatibility mode and everything worked fine until then.

after starting to listen to music, i've experienced that from time to time (doesn't matter if i do something with the PC or just leave it there only playing music) the sound starts hanging (and it sounds like stuttering) for 1-3 seconds. then it comes back to normal...and a few minutes later it happens again. it's VERY annoying...

tried playing with WMP (wasn't happy about it) but the same happens.
tried vista 64bit drivers but couldn't install them. tried old Windows XP SP2 drivers, installed fine but no sound.

any1 got any ideas?
am i the only one who has this issue? did i buy a broken soundcard?

please help.

thanx alot in advance

Answer:M-Audio Audiophile 2496 sound hanging/stuttering from time to time

m-audio are not very 'windows' friendly. they really haven't released a decent driver for xp x64 yet, let alone vista. great cards for linux and apple though, and xp 32bit. i wonder if any of the E-MU options in this price range would fair better...you could always go usb/firewire gear for recording...

Hi,
My Satellite P750 always shuts down on the first start up each day, but the 2nd start up works fine and no other problems..

I press the start up button and it runs for maybe 10-20 seconds then shuts down.. it does this both on battery or on mains power..

If I try to start again after this, it starts up fine.. sometimes it gives the option to boot in safe mode, or to run startup repair, but it always start up fine and runs normally..

I have tried start up repair when the option was given, and it makes no difference as the next day it does the same thing again..

Any advice much appreciated, and Im a little concerned that one day it wont start up second time..

The laptop is only about 6 months old, and otherwise runs great..

Thanks

Hi

Recovery the notebook back to factory settings,.
Are you using the Win 8 or Win 7 system?

Usually the Win 7 notebooks supports an HDD recovery by pressing F8 -> Repair my Computer -> HDD recovery.

If the same problem will appear straight after the system has been recovered, I presume there is an hardware problem and an service technician should check the hardware parts.
