Microsoft Office 2010 Activation Error: Communication Error 0x80072EE7

Question: Microsoft Office 2010 Activation Error: Communication Error 0x80072EE7

Hello,

My wife has a new computer with Windows 10 and we're trying to activate Office 2010. The error we get every time we try to activate is "a communication error has occurred 0x80072EE7."

I saw some posts about syncing the time and date but it didn't work. Completely uninstalled and tried again, same error.

The phone activation is no longer an option for Office 2010. Does anyone know how in the world to work around this error?

Thank you for any advice.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My Microsoft Office package was already activated, until couple days ago while opening Office Word I had this kind of message:

This copy of Microsoft Office has not been activated (*translated from Finnish)

[--]

Error code: 0xC004F074

I don't understand what's wrong with this. The message just suddenly came without any major updates taken place. I have tried to google other threads, without any succeed.

Any suggestions?

P.S. I'm quite handy with computers but not an expert, so please instructions which can be understood.

Answer:Problem with Microsoft Office 2010 - activation error code 0xc004f074

The License type here appears to be KMS - which requires a dedicated KMS server to activate against at least every 180 days.

It's a Volume License - if you purchased this license retail, then it's counterfeit.

Answer:activation error code 0x80072EE7

You need to contact Microsoft. Some of the Win 8 copies are not activating easily

Microsoft Support

If it's a pirate copy of Win 8, you need to buy it to get a valid product key for activation.

So I bought a copy of Office 2010 and installed it, and when I got to the activation screen I got an error that it could not be activated online. Tried the phone activation, that didn't work either. It was a brand new sealed package.

Error I get is this: This product cannot be activated because the product key is not valid.

What do I do?

I have reached out to the seller but not received any assistance so far.

Hi guys, first of all, let me apologize if my english is not that good, I'm from Argentina and it's not my native language.

So, the thing is that I bought a new computer (check my specs) which came with Microsoft Office 2010 included. I started using it like a month ago, and a notification pop up appeared everytime I ran any of the office programs, asking to activate it. I tried once or twice to do it, I couldn't, but I was still able to use Word, etc so I didn't try hard.

Since yesterday, the activation is required mandatory in order to use Office. And this is what happens:

Activate software via internet---> Connecting --> Error not specified. Your petition cannot be processed right now. Try again later. (0XC004C032) *(I translated it, it may say something a bit different)
Well, I tried using the Microsoft Fix It but when I try to install it it says "This Microsoft Fix it does not apply to your operating system or application version".
Any ideas??

Thanks a lot!!

Answer:Microsoft Office 2010 Activation

Welcome to the forums.
Your english is (very) good.

I've also had an Office 2010 which came preinstalled and required activation. Same story: I wasn't able to activate it and it seemed to be a trial version, wasn't sure if I had a key...

Afterwards I bought a full version and I was able to activate it online each time after a reinstall of the system.

If you have the key inserted, that's good. You might also try the phone activation system if everything fails.

If you need to activate often on the same machine due to reinstalls, OS-testing:
Once you got it activated, you can backup the activation for later (can be used on same pc after a format/reinstall) by using Advanced Tokens Manager. This saves time and works even if you are offline when trying.

You don't use control panel just the Office Software, you can double click it and when asked what you want to do you choose repair.
If it still doesn't work then I suggest the Microsoft Support site. I imagine you have the original DVD / CD?

Hey Guys,

I have office 2010 installed on my laptop, I am trying to launch Office OneNote 2010 and I get this error. The specs on my laptop are Intel Core i3 2.27GHz 4GB DDR3 500GB HDD 17.3" Screen. The error is in the following attached image below.

I can't not under stand why this part of Office doesn't work meanwhile all the other components of Office 2010 work just fine. I have gone in and tried to check the Permission with the Office OneNote 2010 with my user account and it was set to full control. I have tried reinstalling Office as well, and still nothing same problem. I have 410GB Free space on my hard drive. I have plenty of free ram left as well. This problem is driving me nuts because I don't see any reason why it's not working, when I installed it I didn't get any error nothing through out the installation.

Thanks

A friend's Microsoft Office Professional 2010 install just started throwing this error:

microsoft office activation failed 0xc004f074

Does anyone know what causes this and how to fix it? Google shows that others have had the problem, but it's not clear how to fix it. I've already done a "repair" but that didn't make any difference.

Also, there's no hard copy for the license key. Can you recommend a program to recover the key from the Windows 7 computer? If I can recover the key I'll try to uninstall/reinstall.

I hope you can help me with this one. I just purchased a new laptop that only a partial Office 2010 program pre-installed so I installed my authentic Office 2010 copy from my desktop to my laptop and had to call Microsoft to validate my product key. No problems there went smoothly. The problem is that I am not able to launch Outlook even to set it up. The error message says "cannot load folders" and then shuts down automatically. I tried to use Windows program repair in control panel but the only reinstalled the office connector. I've looked everywhere on Microsoft's website and can't seem to get an answer that will actually "fix" my outlook issue. Any suggestions on what I should try next? BTW Outlook works just fine on my desktop. Thanks.

Hi,I had Microsoft Office 2010 installed onto my laptop when I was working for a Company 2 years ago.I have now left this Company and for some reason it is now telling me that the product activation code is invalid. How can I find the activation code (I am not able to contact the Company anymore).I do have the same version running on a desktop. Is it possible to extract the code from this version? If not then how can I find an activation code? Many ThanksDavid

Answer:Microsoft Office 2010 product activation code

Quotefor some reason it is now telling me that the product activation code is invalid. The "some reason" is probably that since you no longer work for the company, you are no longer entitled to use the software under the company's license.  QuoteI do have the same version running on a desktop. If this is a properly licensed version that you are legally entitled to run, and which has a license allowing installation on a fixed and a portable computer, then you can type "Find the Microsoft Office 2010 Product Key Code" into a search engine to see various Microsoft Office product key finders. I do not know if any of them work.QuoteIf not then how can I find an activation code?By paying for a license.

I am running Windows 7 64-bit on an Alienware M14x.

Okay, let me list out all the problems.

It will not install updates correctly, meaning it will reboot two times before it says, "failure to update, reverting changes" and allow me to log into my computer. Sometimes it will take 15 minutes per "Configuring Windows, please wait" screen.

It is also not allowing me to download Microsoft Office 2010. I keep getting this error code:
Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly component {A75F2217-AD54-3EA6-AE14-F255F8660531}. HRESULT: 0x8007054F.

And none of the updates are sticking.

Every time I close out of Windows Update after installing a Security update, it says there are updates available, and it's another Security update. wtf? Also, I get the error code "Code BC9, Windows Update encountered an unknown error" when it tries to install Internet Explorer, so that doesn't install either.

I did a diagnostic test, and nothing came up as an actual system error, so it's just all Windows itself.

Here is the HijackThis log.
Pastebin

Edit: I ran a full scan on Microsoft Security Essentials and it found a trojan and two other issues. I promptly removed them. However it still didn't repair my update issues (which might be due to a connectivity problem) or my Microsoft Office 2010 problem.

I have been trying to install Microsoft Office Standard 2010 for two days on my laptop running Windows Vista. Every time I try to install it I get an error message that simply says "Microsoft Office Standard 2010 encountered an error during setup." That's it. No error code, no description of the problem. I have tried many solutions I've found on Google, but nothing works. I have uninstalled my Office 2007, and even taken steps to ensure that it was completely removed. I've also renamed the Microsoft Help folder, and tried some "fix it" programs on Microsoft's web site. I cannot find the right solution anywhere. I know it's not my copy of the installation disk, because I installed it on my Windows XP netbook earlier this week and had no problems (I have multiple licenses). Does anyone have an idea?

Answer:Microsoft Office Standard 2010 Encountered an Error During Setup

Have you used the microsoft office removal tools that Microsoft offers on it's site.
You'll have to google for these because I don't know the exact link.
I ran these because I have rests of other MS Ofice installtaions on my disk, and yes the error codes are just as clear as a foggy day in London.
You could also use a tool like CCleaner to have it chekc the regsitry for invalid items.
Good hunting, it's a nuisance

Sometimes it pops up when you try and install a program and there's another program running that 'clashes' with the install process or it could possibly be an issue with the correct version of .NET not being installed , but it depends what the full message is.

I am getting "Microsoft Office Professional 2010 cannot verify the license for this product. You should repair the Office program by using Control Panel." error this morning after booting up the system.

There was a MSFT update that ran last night, and I'm suspicious of it being the trigger of the error.

I have tried the "repair" option for MSO 2010, and have also re-entered the "key", to no avail.

Have you tried uninstalling the update? Do so from the Control Panel. There's a button which will toggle showing updates. I'm not aware of any updates which will do this though. I'd start there, maybe trying to open in safe mode, but that seems like a stretch.

I have spent at least six hours (probably longer) researching and attempting to install a recently purchased download version of Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus.

I spent a good deal of time uninstalling (completely) a previous, nag-screened unregistered, copy of Office 2010. I used the Microsoft Cleanup Utility. I ran several programs to clean up after all this, including Crap Cleaner.

Each time I go to install Office, I enter the key (#), and get the prompt saying that there is ERROR 1402. Setup cannot open the registry key.

I have done at least a dozen things to resolve this issue, including doing a diagnostic boot, with only essential services and processes running; disabled the firewall and virus protection; read of various other remedies, none of which has worked.

I have gone to regedit several time trying to change permissions of certain registry files. Some seem to change okay. Others will change, then when I click okay, the permissions resort back to what they were prior. Other things, like clicking certain boxes about inheritance, won't stick ticked. I find the whole permissions thing a nightmare.

My head is spinning. Is there a tried-and-true remedy for fixing this issue?

Another question: Does Microsoft provide free installation support for its Office products?

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

When attempting to install MS Office 2010 (also applies to Pro, Beta, and 2007) via download, you may be foiled by Error code 25004 and System error 1073418460 under Win 7 (or Vista, XP). You may also see a refusal to verify the license. This typically happens when you fail to uninstall Office 2010 Starter, Office Click, or some other version of Office before attempting to install the new Office. You would think MS had already figured out how to prevent this <sigh>.

You need to remove all the instances of Office in order to properly install the new office. However, you may also find that the Windows uninstall from Control Panel, Add or change a program will fail to remove the old Office.

This thread can be helpful, although it is somewhat dated. The RevoUninstaller sounds like a successful utility, but I have not tried it myself.

Just updated from 98se to Wxp,pro, no sp level. need to access windows update to find critical updates. At first, I get the "checking for latest version of windows update" message, then Keep receiving this error, "website encountered a problem", with error 0x80072EE7. I have tried following methods, none have worked. 1. Followed microsoft instructions and checked hosts file. only entry is a IP address for my accelerator software. I commented this out, 2. Also tried adding non-secure windows update sites to 'trusted site' list. 3. Disabled accelerator software. 4. disabled firewall (online armor) I'm out of ideas. NOW, getting diff. error, 0x801901F8, website encountered a problem and cant display the page.

Answer:Error 0x80072EE7 Windows update

I know you have already consulted this website.

1. Followed microsoft instructions and checked hosts file. only entry is a IP address for my accelerator software.Click to expand...

Check your HOSTS file again.

It's located in C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc.

Examine the content of your HOSTS file. We do not need to worry about any line that begins with an # because it is ignored by Windows. Also, the line "127.0.0.1 localhost" or "::1 localhost" can be safely ignored, because it is a standard entry.

A HOSTS file can be used to control Web page to IP address associations.

Anything else that appears in your HOSTS file without an # at the beginning, apart from the "127.0.0.1 localhost" or "::1 localhost" lines, should be viewed with suspicion when we are trying to diagnose the cause of "Page cannot be displayed" errors. The quickest way to test for HOSTS file involvement is to right click the HOSTS file, then select Rename. Add the letter X to the beginning or end of the file name and then ok your changes. By changing the name of the HOSTS file, we stop your web browser from using it, and therefore resolve any issues caused by the file.

If you cannot rename your HOSTS file, try resetting it by following this procedure.

Answer:Xp Windows Update Error, 0x80072ee7

Microsoft tech instructed me to change my TCP/IP setting to obtain DNS automatically.
Once I did this I was able to run Windows Update and install the available updates.

So, back to the other issue of the system running slowly and concerns about having
a virus....
I have run the AVG scan, Spybot, Adaware, fixwareout, bitdefender, and mcafee avert stinger.
All seemed to run clean.
Can someone review the hijack log to see if there are any remaining virus issues?
Thank you.

Hi ttodd0450

Not really sure which process you are using to perform the upgrade. If you go to the media creator tool, down load tool and create a USB key (need 8GB) it should work. When you are ready to to the upgrade plug the USB key and run setup.

Here is the tutorial, media creation tool is step six. I like this process as it gives you bootable media for future use. There are also ISO methods.

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade
While the upgrade should not cause any impact to your data I would recommend that you have a copy of all personal data. (Backup).

You don't. Just upgrade to sp3, install it, and you'll be fine.

I have an error that says Miscrosoft Office Home and Student 2010 cannot verify the license for this product. You should repair the Office Program by using Control Panel. So I tried that and got Microsoft Office Home and student 2010 configuration did not complete successfully. The program was install before I got the pc and was the full version. So I downloaded it from Microsoft site. Run Setup and get Setup is unable to proceed error(s). To install and use this product, you must be running operating systems: x86 platform Windows 7, VistaSP1, XP SP3, Server 2003 SP2. x64 platform Windows 7, Vista SP1, Server 2008. Even after uninstalling Office 2010 I get the Setup error and as of right now I have no office on my pc. Now my system is Windows 7 32 bit. Is there a way without system restore to get it working right

Were you given the license to that version of Office, or is the label with the license in your possession or glued to the side of the machine? Also go to this site and verify that that your office product has been completely uninstalled: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/290301/

I need some divine help please. I started Contact after installing Office 2010 Pro Plus and somehow got setup confused. Clicking the "OK" gets a MS Exchange Dialog Box w/ "General" as a title. It wants a valid MS Exchange Server and mailbox". I have tried everything and a cancel from here and Outlook ends. Entering something get the dialog box back. The wonderous code won't let me fix it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and this doesn't go away. Any one with any thoughts please!?

Answer:Office 2010 Outlook Error

Does someone know where the outlook info is stored. Maybe I can delete that? Any thoughts or suggestions? I need to re start setup somehow. Why can't I. This needs to be fixed so that if something is wrong in setup, the programmer allows you to re enter it rather than totally trash the process and close Outlook thus totally preventing any possible repair.

Hello,

I am having serious issues with Microsoft Office 2010. I cannot open any file or program in the suite. When I do, the program says it is starting "Click to run", but eventually closes and produces the following error:

Click-to-Run Application Manager
Microsoft Outlook 2010 cannot be opened. Try again or repair the product in Control Panel.

I have followed the directions on the Microsoft website- Control Panel> Add/Remove programs> Office - Change > OK
It does confirm that it has been repaired, but it has not.

Any suggestions?

I do not have the Office 2010 CDs any longer, nor the product key so I'm stuck not wanting to re-install.

Thanks in advance for the help!!

By the way, I am running Microsoft XP Professional.

Answer:Error in Office 2010 Installation

There seems to be quite a few issues when trying to install the beta on systems that have or have had a previous version of Office on them. The only way I got it to install on my system was using a program called RipOutOffice2007, then going in and deleting all of the Office folders from my Program Files directories.

If you want to keep your 2007 install, then this is not a method you want to use. Hopefully someone can give you some advice on getting them running side by side.

Anybody who has been using the leaked preview of Office 2010 will get an activation message after 30 days-- and you can't activate it yet as it's not officially out.
It won't stop working however.

But since I downloaded Office Enterprise 2007 with the FREE Technet subscription on this site I'm not going to bother with it (unless it becomes available on the Free subscription). I'm actually quite happy with Office 2007.

Use normal fonts, please.

You need to pay for a license and activate it if you want to keep using it. Or get a free office program like LibreOffice or IBM Lotus Symphony, probably the closest to MS Office that is free.

Answer:product activation of office 2010

You have to purchase an Office product key separately. The one you found is the windows product key, I believe. Newegg has an Office Home and Business product key only (no disc) for 159.00. If needed, you can download a trial version of Office and use the Office product key you have to buy to activate it.

I downloaded the 32-bit version of the Office 2010 Beta, because I figured it would run just fine in 32-bit mode on my 64-bit machine, but when I tried to install it, I got this error:

I'm downloading the 64-bit version now to test that one, but I'd appreciate knowing exactly why this happened - if anyone else out there knows.

Answer:Error With Office 2010 Beta Install

Solved the problem by installing the beta into a folder I created called 'Microsoft Office 2010', instead of the default 'Microsoft Office' folder. Don't know why it worked, but it did.

I've recently downloaded Office 2010 Professional Plus from the Microsoft Home Use Program. When I try to install it, the process encounters an error (actually crashes explorer.exe most times through the installation process) - the problem is, it doesn't specify an error code! I'm not overly computer savvy, so maybe I'm looking in the wrong spot, but the extractor doesn't seem to be extracting the setup files into my Temp folder and there is no log file located there for me to reference for an error code. I have lots of space on my drive (~30 GB), so setup should not be aborting due to space limitations. I'm running Windows 7 Professional and it is kept current according to Windows Update.

I've gone through the forums here and other Google sources and tried everything I could find from deleting old Office installations, to changing permissions, etc. Mind you, there isn't much troubleshooting information given that Office 2010 is still only early in its release - I can't even find the official Microsoft support site for the suite. My old installation of Office 2007 is deleted (folders and registry entries) and I've restarted many times, without effect.

I am not encountering any error when I try to install Project Professional 2010 or Vision Premium 2010 (they install and work fine).

Needless to say, I'm at a dead end in terms of knowing what to do next. Very much appreciate any assistance the more knowledgeable users can provide.

Turned out I was using the wrong disc. I have the volume license edition.

If you look on the discs in parenthesis. The one you want to use is (Volume Licensing Key Required) Every disc says "Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 w/ Service Pack 1" which throws you off.

I was using the one that said (Microsoft Office Web Apps 2010) which can only be installed on a Windows 2008 server.

I've been having trouble installing Office 2010. I legitimately own 2007, and I get the free upgrade to 2010, but it's the actual installing part that isn't working.

Basically, I try to install it side by side with Office 2007, but it won't work. I get this error message about 2/3 way through the install:

Error 1920: The service (osppsvc) could not be started. Make sure you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

I am an admin, running XP Home, and I definitely have the permissions to start services. I read that changing the service to start under the Local Account instead of the NTAUTHORITY/NetworkService it's set to by default would fix it, and i can start the service after changing this, but the install rolls back anyways.

I have tried completely uninstalling Office 2007, deleting all registry entries, using CCleaner to patch up any registry problems. I also used Windows Installer Clean Up to remove it, didn't help.

So i can install and use Office 2007 just fine, but when i go to install office 2010, i get this error every time.

I checked the permissions for all users, and i have full control. I also gave that NetworkService account full permissions, didn't help.

Any help would be great.

I surrender.

Updated to Win 10- received 2010 single image error- uninstalled Office 2010 with Fixit utility off of MS website,
Single Image error code- no longer a problem.
Tried to reinstall Office 2010 from CD- error code 1935.
- uninstalled / reinstalled framework.net- nope.
- renamed Microsoft Help Folder- nope.
- re-installed Win 10 off of USB- nope.
- tried to install in compatibility mode for 8.1- nope.

I've ran CCleaner and Norton Utilities hoping they would clean out some left over garbage but that wasn't it.
What I've found online to address this issue either isn't for Win 10 or it's a fix some 3rd Party software.

Any suggestions?

Thanks-

Answer:Office 2010 installation error 1935.

I have not evaluated that problem in detail, but it may be caused by a broken installation of Net Framework, by some brokenness in Windows Installer or by incorrect registry entries of Office 2010. Anyway, searching for "Office 2010" install 1935 gives me more than 50.000 results...

Hey guys, sorry if this has been answered but I'm not finding it anywhere or anything that helps from my googling and forum reading...

Here's my problem, summed up...

I upgraded from W7 to W10 a few months ago, everything was well (incl MS Ofc) and then recently I ran into some spyware issues that I had to do a "Reset Computer" on W10. So, obviously it removed all my programs (or apps, as they call it now) and I went to reinstall my MS Office Pro 2010 from the .exe file I have saved. I tried it 3 times at least and it keeps running into the "encountered a problem during setup" error. So, I found a different download on Microsoft and tried that several times to no avail, same error. So, I tried disabling AV and such things and still, error. From some things I read with other users that had this issue dealt with .net framework and such, but they were all running W7. I have no idea how to fix this problem on W10. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions, please? I appreciate any help in advance.

If you have the product key, MS can help you via download or if you have the disc. Not sure the disc you created can work.

Hi there, I had installed Office 2010 more than 6 months ago. Somehow two months ago, I receive the following message when I tried to open up the application (MSWord, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.):

"The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application even log for more detail."

I have not install any new application since I have installed the Office 2010, except Window Updates. I reinstall office 2007 and I have no problem running it.

I would appreciate any advice as how to resolve the above errors.

When the Office 2010 beta first came out I was so exited to install it that I tried to install it while I still had office 2007 installed. Of coarse, the install failed. So I just went to go and uninstall 2007 but the uninstaller didn't work. Then I just went to Program Files folder and deleted the office folder and deleted some registry values.

Now the 2010 installer doesn't work, and the 2007 uninstaller doesn't work. Right now the error message I get is this error.

I have looked throu the microsoft website to find all the possible ways to get rid of all old versions of office, bbut I still get this error message, and I still have the "Q:" drive form the first install, and can't get rid of it.

Hello, Welcome to SF,

If the regular method failed then try the Office Uninstaller see whether you could remove using that mostly left over files used to remove then you use this Tool. If that fails then follow this document to remove the left over files manually. One thing i'm doubtful is "Q:" what are you referring to does it give the error about a Q: ??

Good Luck,

Hey dudes/dudets,

Had a computer in needed to change the motherboard, change the board and plugged in old hard drive... wouldn't boot down to being different motherboard and old install of Windows XP Home SP2.

Done a repair of Windows XP Home SP2 and the OS boots into Windows and everything is working fine sorted all the drivers and so on cleaned up the windows install the best i know of and is running perfectly fine.

Only thing left to do on it now is Activating Windows.. problem is whenever i click to get the window open to go through the steps with it being on the phone or on the net the activation program crashs and says "Mircosoft Out Of Box Experience has encountered a problem and needs to close"

Is there a way of getting this sorted without reinstalling Windows? Or a way to repair the actviation program?

Look forward to hearing from you lot soon!!!

Thanks.

My windows system with Microsoft Office 2010 installed was working great until about a month ago. It was probably due to a 'registry clean' I did using Auslogistics Registry software. I am not sure. Microsoft documents don't open. They open with Open office. Every time I try to open the documents with Microsoft Office, the system tries to set up the software and then fails at it. It says 'a problem caused the program to stop working correctly'. Wonder what to do!
Help is MUCH appreciated.
Thanks

Hi all
I've downloaded the versions available on Technet

I've also installed on 3 Different computers

No activation has been requested yet -- and I've installed all with the SAME KEY.

I see that new keys will be avilable after 30 Apr.

Maybe if you download from TECHNET at the moment you get the "Multiple Corporate copies" version.

Cheers
