I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

click hereMicrosoft's Windows 7 Beta will start to spontaneously reboot every two hours beginning on Wednesday, the company has warned users. Users running Windows 7 Beta can continue to use the new operating system without the sudden interruptions - the shutdowns come without warning -- by downloading and installing Windows 7 Release Candidate (RC)

Answer:Windows 7 Beta reboot begins

It wasn't that long ago that Microsoft mistakenly announced the shutdowns would start on 1st June. That probably cost someone their place on the annual works outing to the seaside.

Thanks First did you hard reset? Second thats a really old build, pick insider fast ring and update to newest build 10536.1004 , it's great on the 1020. If all else fails Bing search windows phone recovery tool from your pc and make sure to download it directly from Microsoft site. Once you have the tool hook your phone up via USB. And follow instructions, it's rather easy! Always hard reset after upgrading.Hope that helps!!

This one has me really stumped!

I installed free Windows 10 yesterday and, after using it for a while, decided that I don't like it so I rolled back to Windows 7 by re-imaging to an image I saved just before installing W10. I immediately noticed that Windows Update would no longer work. After a lot of searching, I found that Background Intelligent Transfer Service was missing. It was not in my services. I tried everything I could find in various forums with no luck. Windows Update worked right up until the I installed W10.

I finally found a MS article on how to put BITS back and it worked. I then checked it's dependencies and made sure they were there and working but Windows Update still wouldn't work.

I then re-imaged back to an image 5 weeks old and BITS doesn't show up there either even though it definitely worked back then. That was a mystery since my PC should have been re-imaged to exactly how it looked back in June.

Thinking I might have a bad sector on my drive, I ran Disk Check with the option chosen to repair anything it finds that is wrong. I also ran sfc /scannow. No luck.

I'm at loss to explain this let alone fix it. I found lots of threads where other people lost BITS but not when they had just installed W10 and then rolled back to W7. Nothing I found has worked and I'm at my wits end at this point.

This all started with the W10 install but I don't know how my old images could be affected.

I can usually fix any PC problem... Read more

Even before Windows Vista is out of the gate, the next Windows chief, Steven Sinofsky, is making his presence felt by bringing in a new head of engineering to replace longtime Windows dev chief Brian Valentine.

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer reiterated his disappointment with the decisions Microsoft made in developing Vista.

"We will never repeat our experience with Windows Vista again, we will never have a five-year gap between major releases of flagship products. But we will have people who are working on innovations that take more than a couple of years or so to do, we just won't promise them to customers and hold up whole releases.

That reads to me as "we will not endevor to enhance our operating system, but we will endevor to make excuses as to why you should buy our operating system every few years".

I bought this computer from a used computer dealer here in Florida as I am a snowbird and didn't want to spend a lot of money on a new one. It had Windows 7 on it and was happy, then I thought about upgrading to windows 10 as everyone else was. I did and didn't like it at all. I had a month to go back to Windows 7 and did. Then it keeps telling me my Windows 7 is not been liscence. I put my liscence number from my computer back home but won't take it. I hope I don't have to buy another Windows 7 again. In windows 10, I could not synchronize my HTC phone OS windows mobile 6.1 and Windows Mobile Device Center WMDC
Microsoft tech-support tried every thing and finally suggested to roll back from Windows 10 to Windows 7.(case#1314241584 and case#1314233500)
Windows 7 loads up but now I cannot log on because I have no more user-interface . Touch-pad, USB mouse and keyboard no longer respond.
I inserted my windows 7 system repair-disk and the user-interface sprung back to live, and I was now able to use the user-interface. I was able to select the repair mode, but the program did not find any problems.
I restarted the computer (windows 7), and again no user-interface
How can I repair the user-interface so that I can log in and start using my Windows 7 urgently required computer again.

I'm having a problem starting my computer. Windows XP begins to start then it flashes and a screen comes up saying it didn't start right and gives me 4 options (sorry I didn't write these down but they are to the effect of the following):
Start in safe mode
Start in safe mode with prompt
start in safe mode with networking
Windows will restart in 30 seconds

It takes several trys to get it started in any of these modes. After this occurred the first time I found an icon on my desktop titled:
hs_err_pid2512
Here is what the begining says:
An unexpected exception has been detected in native code outside the VM.

at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)

Dynamic libraries:

It then lists 2 pages worth of files. the majority are C:\windows\system32 files.

Can anyone tell me whats going on and how to go about fixing it?
Thanks,

Answer:Windows XP begins to start then flashes and restarts

Look down farther on the screen when u get those 4 options, there will be a few more. One will be "start windows normally" do that and see what happens.

That file is just an error log file. DOnt worry about that being there for now. But keep posting the errors if this happens.

Mixed reality will unleash the creativity of every person and every organization on the planet. Our journey has been filled with key moments in time that have shown us what is possible as we enter this next era of computing, the era of mixed reality. From the introduction of Microsoft HoloLens, the world?s first fully self-contained holographic computer in January 2015, to the welcoming of enterprise partners like Ford Motor Company, the inspiration and creativity we have seen customers and modern workplaces continues to inspire us and drive us forward.
Today, in San Francisco was another key moment in time. I had the privilege of sharing more about Microsoft?s mixed reality vison. We unveiled a Windows Mixed Reality headset from Samsung, the Samsung HMD Odyssey, which joins the family of Windows Mixed Reality headsets. I talked about the work we are doing with SteamVR and announced that AltspaceVR is joining our Microsoft team. Finally, we kicked off the holiday buying season by celebrating the availability of pre-orders for Windows Mixed Reality headsets.

We had a storm the other night and my computer was on. The power went out and when it came back on, it starts to boot and then I get a black screen that says

We apologize for the inconvenience but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change may have caused.....

It gives me options to try to restart Windows XP as normal, or using the last known good configuration. I have tried both of these and it starts to boot up and then immediately restarts and goes back to the black screen with white letters. It also gives me options to start in Safe Mode, with networking, or command prompt. (i don't know if I feel comfortable with that)

What happened to it? I've never had any problems like this?

Answer:Windows XP begins start up then immediately shuts down

To successfully use the Last Known Good Configuratioin option, first after you turn on the power, immediately start to tap the F8 key. This should open the 'Safe Mode" window (black window with white lettering) Use the arrow keys to move up to the above option click enter. Let the computer do it's thing.
Post back and let us know how it goes.

I turned on my Dell Inspiron 15 laptop this morning. I had created a Dell backup disc last night in which was on a DVD, and was still in the drive when I booted up this morning. It began the 'installing new apps, almost ready, don't turn off PC...etc" and then says 'Let's Go' and then nothing happens. Black screen, OR it will go to my same old Microsoft Account sign in, I sign in and I keep getting this press CTRL ALT DELETE or Windows Security button to login. I log in with my password and it will not go to desktop or do anything else. Just keeps switching back and forth. I was able to get to the "Shut down, task manager...etc" and I click on task manager and still nothing happens. Last night I was messing with the screen's resolution. I don't know if this has something to do with it? I had read to hook it up to another monitor but I still get the same thing on the TV screen when hooked with HDMI cable. So I don't think it's the monitor? I also read something about a 'bootmgr' file? Please someone help me, this laptop is driving me absolutely insane. I was also messing with the MMC, in which I can't change user accounts because I'm on a 'domain'? Maybe I'm asking too many questions in one post but I need just a nice, clean reinstall factory setup to download to a USB and go from there. I can boot to UEFI/Legacy mode and I have no idea what to do from there. I have NO options of 'factory restore', and I don't know how.

When I begin playing an audio file on the computer, CPU and memory use spike (I think the CPU goes up to 50%) for the next 2-3 minutes. The audio player software hangs during that time, and no sound comes out.
After the 2 or 3 minutes have passed, audio playback resource use drops to normal and remains that way.
The usage spike happens only the first time the audio player is used after booting. After that, it operates normally even if the program is closed and reopened, or if another audio player is used.
The problem occurs in the same way no matter which audio player I use (foobar2000, mpxplay, 1by1) and no matter what file format is played (mp3, FLAC, ALAC).

The Task Manager seems to show that audiodg.exe is using a lot of CPU during this time. I say "seems" because the CPU number under audiodg.exe seems to go up to 7 or so, but I haven't seen it reach anywhere near 50 or 100.
All the Enhancements for playback devices are unchecked.

This problem has begun within the past year, I think, on a 4-year-old computer. I haven't changed any audio settings manually.

This isn't a fatal problem, but it does make my computer unusable for 3 minutes each day. I'd be very grateful for any suggestions.

Answer:Resource use spike when audio playback begins, Windows 7

From your description, I would say its not really an audio problem, but the audio is byproduct of whatever is causing the problem.

One suspect is memory (RAM). With only 2GB of RAM that is a very low amount. I would suggest upgrading to 4GB of RAM, if the PC will support that as the first step. The CPU is probably a bottleneck too.

Microsoft begins denying updates to some Windows 7 users

Microsoft this week began blocking Windows 7 and 8.1 PCs equipped with the very newest processors from receiving security updates, making good on a policy it announced but did not implement last year.

But the company also refused to provide security fixes to Windows 7 systems that were powered by AMD's "Carrizo" CPUs, an architecture that was supposed to continue receiving patches.

The decree that led to the update bans, whether allowable or not under Microsoft's new policy, was revealed in January 2016, when the company said making Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 run on the latest processors was "challenging." Microsoft then ruled that Windows 10 would be the only supported edition on seventh-generation and later CPUs and simultaneously dictated a substantial shortening of support of both editions.

The biggest impact was on Windows 7, because it had become the standard in enterprises -- Microsoft's most valued customers -- with deployment shares far north of 50%. According to Microsoft, Windows 7 was to be fully supported on sixth-generation processors -- Intel's were dubbed "Skylake," AMD's included Carrizo -- until July 17, 2017. At that point, some Skylake-equipped PCs would continue to receive some security updates; other such PCs would get nothing.

Microsoft later walked back the cut-off, first by extending the end-of-support date to July 2018, then by repudi... Read more

Microsoft is working diligently towards a release of Windows 10 that is targeted towards consumers which should arrive in late January. One of the features that will be coming -- and Neowin was the first to bring you details on it -- with Windows 10 is Cortana. While there have been tons of assets for the feature found in the builds, including all of the sound files, you have not been enable turn it on.

And while Microsoft builds out the infrastructure to support Cortana on the millions of Windows PCs that are expected to be sold with Windows 10, they have begun letting select groups use the feature. We have detailed a lot about the future of Cortana and Windows, which you can read about here, and now we have the first screenshot showing the icon in the taskbar.

This image has been floating around for a little bit and it took us some time to actually confirm that this is an authentic image. The user has the high-contrast theme turned on which is why the taskbar looks a bit different than most Windows 10 builds. But this is a real image of Cortana in the taskbar in Windows 10 which shows that it will replace the search functionality as expected.

Microsoft is assembling the group of testers who will receive the first beta of Service Pack (SP) 1 for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 in July.
The company has begun sending invitations to those it plans to include in the testing program. According to the invitations, the beta bits will be in English, German, Japanese, French and Spanish.
At Microsoft?s TechEd conference last week, officials said to expect the beta of SP1 in July. (I?m hearing it will be delivered in mid-July, the same time Microsoft holds its Worldwide Partner Conference in Washington, DC.) The rumored final release data for SP1 (not confirmed by Microsoft officially) is Q4 2010.
Officials said earlier this year that SP1 for Windows 7 won?t include any new features; it will be a rollup of fixes. SP1 for Windows Server 2008 R2 will include both fixes and two new features. The new features include a new graphics acceleration platform, known as RemoteFX, that is based on desktop-remoting technology that Microsoft obtained in 2008 when it acquired Calista Technologies. There also will be a new addition to Hyper-V that will dynamically adjust memory of a guest virtual machine on demand.
Here?s the invitation (with a word tweak or two, for clarity?s sake) that Microsoft is sending to potential SP1 testers:

You are receiving this invitation based on the quality of feedback you have provided on previous Windows programs and the Microsoft Windows release team would like you to participate... Read more

1 If I upgrade to windows 10 when it is released on one of the windows 7 partitions, and then don't like it, do I have to roll back to windows 7 from within my windows 10 installation or can I just reinstall my windows 7 acronis image which would be my preferred method. Someone has said on a different forum that my windows 7 product key would be consumed by the windows 10 installation so on rolling back do I have to reactivate windows 7 again, and there again if I use the acronis image to go back to windows 7, will the restored windows 7 need to be reactivated?

2 When upgrading from windows 7 to windows 10 will I be given a separate product key fro windows 10 as was done when I bought windows 8?

Thanks for any help
Joe

Answer:Rolling back to windows 7 (32) if I don't like windows 10?

I suggest reading the FAQ at the top of the stickies in this form.

Personally, I've restored from an Acronis image several times recently. The imaged OS was activated, and that was retained in the restored version.

I have read that it will be possible to do a clean install of the upgrade in the future. MS had not described how that will be possible without re-installing and activating the OS that qualified the upgrade.

There is little precedent that would allow us to guess how that will work. I bought a few of the Win 8 upgrade licenses ($40US) when MS was running the pre-release special. All of the value was contained in the keys that MS emailed to me. The official line was that such a license could not be used for a clean install: the qualifying OS had to be installed and activated first. There are work-arounds for that, including at least one that involves no hacking.

If MS can come with a licensing scheme for the free 10 upgrade that is approved by their attorneys but still favorably regarded by MS's customers (aside from being free), I'll be impressed.

Hello, people!
Is anyone using Viber on their Windows 8/8.1 PCs or tablets?
I can't seem to find the problem, but my Viber app on my PC is just not working. All I can see is purple loading screen and not much else. I checked apps's permissions, everything seems to be enabled. I have also downloaded the latest version from Windows Store. Funny thing is, I used it a couple of times before, but it just stopped working for no reason. I know that there has been a big update, but it still didn't fix my problem. It seems to be working well on my WP.
Anyone had similar issue and know where to look for a solution?
Cheers!

On my Windows Vista PC, Viber has updated from Version 4xxx which runs perfectly to 5xxx which will not run with a long message ending:
This is most likely caused by not having necessary graphics driver installed.
Install a driver providing OpenGL 2.0 or higher.or, if this is not possible, make sure the ANGLE Open GL ES 2.0 emulation libraries (libEG.dll,libGLESv2.dll and d3dcompiler,,*dll) are available in the application executable's directory or in a location listed in PATH.
Speccy tells me that I have:
Graphics
Standard Monitor ([email protected])
Intel Standard VGA Graphics Adapter (Gigabyte)
MoBo H61M-DS2 DVI (Intel Pentium CPU G2030 @ 3.00GHz)
All Gigabyte drivers are up to date and when I try to install OpenGL 2.0 it says not compatable with your system. The other advice about ANGLE Open GL ES is incomprehensible to me!
I have spent a long time on this and the only way now I can use Viber on my PC is to wind Windows back to a restore point before the Viber update! BUT THEN IT AUTO UPDATES TO LATEST VERSION AFTER A FEW HOURS AND CRASHES AGAIN!!
In desperation I have tried to stop Viber autoupdates or run in Win XP mode but nothing helps.
I would be so so grateful for help with this. Surely I am not the only person hit by the update?

I run Win XP and use Framemaker 5.5

The mouse I use has a rolling cylinder (in between the right/left-click buttons) which in most applications allows you to scroll down without clicking inside the window you happen to be in.

But it does not work in Frame. (You have to click and point inside the vertical navigation bar of the window.)

The scrolling/rolling mouse feature works in all other applications (Internet Explorer; Outlook; etc)

Any hints or tips on how to fix Frame 5.5?

Has anyone had any other (and more major) compatibility problems running Frame 5.5 on Win XP?

Ta!
Andrew

Answer:Framemaker 5.5 & Windows XP: Mouse Rolling

I managed to fix this, and here is how, in case anyone was interested >>>

Frame does not support mouse rolling at all.

But the latest versions of some mouse driver software does manage to work around this lack.

I downloaded the latest mouse driver from the mouse manufacturer (Newmen) website, and I can now scroll in Frame.

Not only that - my entire PC is working about 3x its old speed.

The windows default mouse drivers are nowhere near as good as the drivers that are designed for the particular mouse that you might have.

I have been using the RC on my work rig since it came out, all of our work applications work like a dream on it, have some new systems to build and was planning to wait until i can get windows 7 to do them all instead of buying vista.

Whenever I use viber it sends the message, then won't work for like five minutes. Also when someone calls, it rings on my husbands phone and won't come on my desktop for around five minutes. I downloaded Viber app on my Windows 10 PC, opened it, and for the time being they want me to use the desktop app for now. But you can see on the bottom, is written "Stay tuned for Viber on Windows 10!" this states that they are now planning (and must now creating) an app designed for Windows 10, and it would be great news! Image screenshot of the app is below:
Good day everyone!

Answer:Viber is making an App designed for Windows 10!

Viber demonstrated a windows 10 app at build a few months ago. The shocking thing is that they've not managed to get it in the store ready for windows 10 launch. In the meantime any Viber users now can't use Viber on their windows 10 machines. (desktop app is simply not viable at high resolutions)
I can't help but think that there is some connection that has made both them and skype pull this curious maneuverer.

In less than two days, PC users will be able to manually install the Windows 10 Creators Update with the Update Assistant tool. With such little time to spare, Microsoft has released two new cumulative updates with some last-minute fixes.

For Insiders that are in the Release Preview or Slow rings, you'll find KB4016251, or 15063.13. Naturally, it contains all of the fixes that were included in 15063.11, along with the following:

We fixed an issue where printer connections from clients running older versions of Windows (V3-XPS-based-drivers) failed to connect to clients running the Windows 10 Creators Update.
We fixed an issue where on some devices like the Surface Pro 3, the Windows audio device graph isolation would max out CPU utilization due to being stuck in an endless loop due to defective Realtek APOs.
In the Fast ring, build 15063.14 is available (KB4016252), which includes everything that you see above, along with one more fix:

We fixed an issue where non-suspendable processes would suspend after waking a device.
Of course, if you don't manually install the Creators Update on April 5, the rollout begins on the 11th. At first, it will be available to newer PCs and devices that Microsoft has tested with its OEM partners, and then it will be made available to older devices over the next several months based on feedback.

I'm running Windows XP SP2. Downloaded the Windows Live setup utility, so I could install Mail and Messenger ? they download fine, but during the installation they always end up rolling back, not getting installed. It happens no matter which Windows Live tool I use.

Here's the error I'm given.

I don't know what could causing the problem. I don't have a firewall blocking it. Nothing weird set up which could be conflicting with it (it's a pretty fresh, standard install with not much beyond Firefox, Office 2007 and Google Desktop installed). I've set up Windows Live Messenger perfectly normally on other machines in my home network. The problem persists after reboots and re-downloading the installer.

Any ideas? I'm stumped. Would love some help with this.

Answer:Windows Live installers keep rolling back.

From what I read, the problem is a 'stuck' install.

Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, run it (carefully) and locate the Messenger install and delete it from the list.

Then try again.

Hi there,
I am hoping someone can help me with a problem my parents are having on their laptop. I tried to fix it myself, but as I've been using Macs for a few years, I ended up getting a bit lost.
Windows 10 installed on their computer a few weeks ago and they didn't want it, so they rolled back to Windows 8.1 a couple of days later. Since then, they have been unable to send photos via email, or open photos that have been sent to them. If they look at a photo outside the email app they can use sharing to send photos via email - it's just not working in mail, which is really annoying. They also had the same problem with PDFs but my dad managed to fix that.
Please could someone advise what we should be doing to fix this? I have searched and searched various forums but I am drawing a dead end as this problem is very specific. I wondered if uninstalling and then reinstalling the mail app would be the answer but they are worried about losing emails.
Thanks for any help you can provide....

I pre-registered for the free Windows 10 upgrade.
I know that if I upgrade and then have a problem (for example, one of my applications doesn't work right), I can roll back the upgrade within 30 days.
If I do that, will I be able to retry the free upgrade to 10 at a later date (for example, after the developer of the application releases an update)?
Or is it a one-time chance, and if I roll back I will have to buy Windows 10 whenever I decide I do want to use it?

So my computer recently did an automatic update, but when it started back up it was completely impossible to connect to any network. The pre-bundled software that came with my wi-fi adapter crashed to desktop whenever it started up (manually started or on computer startup). I also could not access adapter settings in the Windows control panel. It would not even open the window for it. So I went into settings and went back to the previous update and the problem went away, but now it keeps reinstalling this update every time i restart my computer.

My current thoughts and I might be wrong:
-The update wasn't downloaded properly and it keeps reinstalling from a broken cache. (Are windows updates cached on my PC?)
-The update is bugged and I need to find out how to disable automatic updates until this is resolved.
-Nothing is wrong with the update, it just doesn't like my current configurations.

IDE HDD:3. PCI BEV: However, now that these systems are no longer available, we were given M58p 9965-A9U systems instead.  These systems are supposedly the same, other than being pre-loaded with Windows 7 instead of Windows XP.  The only issue is that I cannot perform a rollback to Windows XP as I did previously with the A6U systems.  The BIOS was not updated to the most current version, so I updated it, but I still cannot install Windows XP.  Any ideas???

(Windows 7, 64-bit, all Windows Updates up-to-date as of two days ago before I installed Windows 10.)
This problem really has me at my wits end. I've spent hours on various forums trying to find a solution but have had no luck.

Yesterday, I installed the free Windows 10. The day before that, I created a backup image in case I didn't like W10 and wanted to roll back to W7.

Well, I didn't like W10 so I re-imaged to my W7 backup image. I immediately noticed that Windows Update wouldn't run. After doing some research, I found that Backround Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) was no longer in my services even though it was there in the backup image since Windows Update worked until I installed W10.

I ran sfc /scannow and Disk Check (with the feature to repair any problems found checked) but nothing was found with either tool

I then re-imaged to backup that was five weeks old. BITS was still not in my Services (?).

I did find a tool to reinstall Windows Update and, after running it, BITS did show up in my services although it's not there now because I did the second re-image after running the tool. But Windows Update still wouldn't run. It's set to automatic and it is running. Also, the dependencies are running too but Windows Update still won't run. When I try to download the MS fixit tool for Windows Update, I can't download it or run it even though I tried to get it from several different websites. If I click on Run, Save, ... Read more

Hi,

I have encountered a small but irritating problem- recently I decided to 'upgrade' my Windows Media Player from version 9 to 10 (I am of course aware that there is now a version 11).

Anyway, I really didn't like version 10 so I followed Microsoft's instructions on how to 'roll-back' to 9. It worked ok and I now have version 9 back except for one irritating difference, which appears to be a feature of version 10 and remained when I 'rolled-back' to 9.

(I will try to describe it clearly so people will know what I mean- apologies if I do not use the correct terminology).

In Windows Media Player 10 (just like version 9) if you go to 'Media Library' and click on the + symbol next to 'my playlists' (on the left side) it will 'expand', listing the various albums and recordings by title. If you click on one of these titles, you will then see on the right-hand side the names of all the tracks in the chosen playlist.

In Windows Media Player 10, underneath the list of songs in the chosen playlist on the right, there was a window or 'panel' which could be dragged up or down by using one of those 'double-headed arrows' that appear when you point the mouse at the dividing lines. In Windows Media Player 10, this appears to be for the purpose of displaying 'media info'.

When I rolled back to 9, this window or 'panel' was still there (it had not been there before I upgraded ... Read more

Hi Sir(s)/Maam(s). Can you pls help me? So i tried to install a Kali Linux rolling in my HP Probook Laptop pre-installed with a Windows 7 ultimate 32bit. I googled the machine of my laptop and it says it can support 64 bit. Then i followed instructions on how to (dual boot) Kali Linux with Windows 7. so i followed the instructions only that since the instructions written in the website: You are being redirected... showed a portion Using a tool "Gparted". This did not show up while i opened "Kali Live"(as in the instructions), and i thought to myself maybe it ddnt show an option - "gparted" bcause the kali they were using to install is an old kali while i'm installing a new 2016.1 kali rolling 64bit. so i went ahead and clicked graphical install. so the installation went on(Kali Linux) to an option where it says - Partition Disk(so my thoughts were correct i thought) then i went to a partition where it said "Separate/home partition" so i thought maybe it'll separate my windows 7 partition automatically. then it displayed the partitions it made so i thought maybe i was doing everything right.(as shown here You are being redirected...). And then installation was complete and it requested to reboot so i went and rebooted it. now i was expecting to show options where i can choose where to reboot Kali Linux or Windows 7. Now it only shows Kali Linux. . Did i delete my windows? i had so much important data there... Can someone ls help me? P... Read more

Hi,

I'm having trouble getting our MP3 player (Creative Zen Touch) to work on Vista. It's finally being recognised as a device, but Windows Media Player 11 does not recognise it so I can't add any music to it - which kinda defeats the object!

I think I need to rollback to Windows Media Player 10, which apparently will recognise it, but I realise after a bit of mind boggling research that this is easier said than done. Can anybody help me with this problem? Is there an easy way to do it?

Many thanks for reading my plight!

I happened to install the Creators Update on my Windows 10 laptop. Unfortunately, my laptop started to lag substantially after the update. Booting took much longer than usual and no app opened without any lag. Even the start menu took some time to execute!
In the light of all these complications, I decided to roll back to the previous build, the one which I had before i.e. 1607. However, as soon as windows rolled back, I realised that my laptop wasn't as snappy as before. It continued to lag but not as much as was the case after the Creators Update. I contacted people at Microsoft Support and one of their online correspondents, while taking command of my laptop over the internet, ram some tests, generated some reports, disabled a number of programs scheduled to execute on start-up and deleted temporary files.
This had the effect of putting an end to all the lagging. But, even now, my laptop isn't as snappy as it should be. Apps still execute after some delay and the gaming experience is not the same.
Does anybody know what should I do?

A new cumulative update is rolling out to Insiders that are on the Release Preview ring, which is build 14393.726 for both PC and Mobile. The new update comes exactly two weeks after the last one that reached the Production ring, 14393.693.

As you should be able to guess by now, there is no changelog available just yet. It's unclear why the company seems to have so much trouble with publishing release notes at the same time that an update is released, but if Microsoft does publish them, they'll probably show up in the Feedback Hub.

Also, it's worth noting that if Microsoft doesn't offer a changelog at all, it certainly wouldn't be the first time, so you probably shouldn't hold your breath for this one. We've reached out to the company for comment.

First spotted by Windows Central, the update will show itself as KB3216755 on PCs. If you're already on the Release Preview ring, you can grab it on your device by checking for updates. If not, you can always go to the Windows Insider Program tab and click "Get started".
