Failed to Initialize OpenCL

Question: Failed to Initialize OpenCL

First error in a program after the Windows 10 Fall Upgrade...

I'm using Adobe After Effects CC 2015.

Any ideas?

Preferred Solution: Failed to Initialize OpenCL

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Failed to Initialize OpenCL

Reinstalling my graphics drivers seemed to solve the problem... I should wait until posting, to make sure I don't solve the issue myself. xD

Hi. I have been experiencing a problem with my internet surfing for several months now. I have dial up service because DSL or road runner is not available in my area. When I have been on the net for about ten to thirty minutes, I get a message: Manage Shared Load:: Failed in Initialize. My computer will not allow me to surf anymore. When I close the message, it just reappears. I have tried disconnecting from the net, and that does take the error message away, but when I try to reconnect, the error message reappears. The message is in a tan colored box like all of the other microsoft messages are, so I assume that it has something to do with my software. I have xp, and the computer was built in september 2003. The only way for me to surf again is to completely shut down my computer and restart it. then, I will only have a few minutes before the same thing happens again.

Hi There!

The first thing you want to do is cleanup the system.

Go to Control Panel | Internet Options
Delete all cookies, Temp Internet Files, & History files, Then go to "Advanced" tab and click on "Restore Defaults"
Apply changes, close everything and reboot the system and test it out.
Good Luck!

I'll try to keep this post short, but I have four (4) problems:

1) I received this computer from a friend. It is a Dell Dimension running Windows XP Pro. When I go into Device Manager to add my new little MP3 player, it tells me the device is not configured. I go into Device Manager and it tells me the following: MMC failed to initialize because it is installed incorrectly or corrupted. Please make sure the file mmcndmgr.dll id registered by running regsvr32 %SystemRoot%\System32\mmcndmgr.dll
which I have. Several times.

2) In trying to open a utility program I love and installed, I double clicked on it and get this message: The procedure entry point SHRegGetValueW could not be located in the dynamic link library SHLWAPI.dll. This pops up on several programs (annoyingly enough, the programs I'm trying to use to FIX this little problem!) as well as System Restore.

3) In trying to get to the Adminstrator user in Control Panel > User Accounts, I click on the link and get... nothing. No pop ups, no start screen, nothing!

I (and my friends) do NOT have the XP Pro CD and I have been all over the Internet trying desperately to fix these problems so I can use the computer without those annoying errors! If ANYBODY has ANY ideas, PLEASE let me know! Just know, right now, I have no way to get to an XP CD. Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Hello

I have recently updated my computer from Windows XP to Windows 7 Professional. The installation was successful but I had to re download all my content. After I had downloaded steam I reinstalled several newer, biggish games (Eg; Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas etc) but when I attempt to run them I get the error message 'Failed to initialize renderer'

I asked on the steam forums but only got answers like 'there's just nothing you can do. You graphics card is too old. " But I know that this isn't the case as I have run both Skyrim and Fallout NV on the same machine without problem before I updated to Windows 7.

Specs

Dell DM051
Windows 7 Professional 32-bit
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.20 GHz
DirectX 11
Standard VGA Grpahics Adapter
I don't mind playing with low graphics if it is necessary, I just want to get my game running.

Things I've already tried

Updating Video card drivers (though I'm not sure if I did it correctly)
Installing all current windows updates
Deleting the games and reinstalling them
Running the games in windowed mode
Setting it to the lowest resolution/graphics quality

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Failed to initialize render

Standard VGA Grpahics Adapter

It's not installed correctly. It should show something like:

Video Adapter Intel(R) 82945G Express Chipset Family (224 MB)

What is the service tag on your Dell?
Also go into Device Manager and check for any other devices with a yellow warning sign.

Ok this is what I have:

The other day Norton detected a bunch of threats. They were cleaned and/or quarantined.

Now, when I start up my computer and log in, I get the "Application failed to initialize properly" message. Then I just have the background and no icons. Just for fun, I did the ctrl alt delete, logged out and then back in another another user name and everything worked fine. I then logged out and back in under my normal user name and all is well. I did that yesterday and today. So I'm functioning but obviously not an ideal situation, since something is obviously amiss.

hello everyone,

I really wonder why my SERVER become like that. It might caused by virus or what.
I am trying to open all the items in Administrative Tools but it couldn't open and alert me a message erorr that snap-in failed to initailize. Could anybody find me the solution?

Thank you

Answer:snap-in failed to initialize

Well, with absolutely no information about the environment or what you're doing when it occurs, probably not.

I'm not sure this has anything to do with networking in any case, but we need a lot more detail about what's really going on to know.

Evening all,

Just in the last week or so I've been waking up to a near frozen computer. Basically I'll turn the monitor on and there will be the error:

the application failed to initialize (error code 0xc0000142).

The only option is to click ok. Once this is done, no application will open - only produce this same error. Cannot open task manager to kill tasks, cannot shut down or restart. Only option at this stage seems to be hard reset which is yucky.

It happens only after many hours of being on, only once has it happened while I've been present at the keyboard.

Tasks running during a typical evening are:

Peerguardian2
ZoneAlarm
msn messenger
uTorrent

And your default windows tasks ofcourse. Nothing else.

Currently running an sfc /scannow, but nothing I've found on google or elsewhere on this forum has been specific to this issue.

Any advice appreciated.

Comp specs:

xp pro Sp3
Athlon 64 dual core 4000+
2GB DDR2
geforce 7600GS 256MB
3 HDDs of varying age and size (all seagate)

Thanks

Hello

My OS is XP Home. I have a 2.4Ghz P4 1G Ram, ATI9000 Raideon and I use Cable Internet service. My security software is Norton 2006

ONLY SOMETIMES WHEN BOOTING
When booting up my system I'll get to my desktop and there is no icons or start menu just the back ground pic and this message
......... Application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005) Click ok to terminate.
If i click ok the window goes away and i then half to reboot. But when i reboot I have to hit F8 tell it to load windows normally and pick windows XP. Then it works fine

ALL THE TIME (This game only)
When I try to play Battlefield2 , It loads fine into the Multiplayer account server then when I pick a Multiplayer game server it starts to load then shuts my comp down and boots back up with the same message as above. I used to be able to play this game with no prob.

I've done a virus scan and it found a start page trojan that I can't remove and some spyware that i have removed. I also went to window update and got the latest updates and went to ATI for the latest drivers but nothing has changed. I checked the forums to see if anyone had anything like this but could not find anything. I'm not sure if it's the trojan start page or something else thats why I posted in this forum.

I would greatly appreciate the help

One day, I was just listening to music and I decided to open up a game called Magic Workstation. I have been playing it for over a year now. That was the first time I got the message "The Application Failed to initialize." It also had the code "0xc0000005."

Then I restarted my computer and at startup, MSN Messenger had the same problem. I have tried to run combofix, which I know and have used before but ran into the same problem.

Other symptoms include just a slower internet explorer.

Any help?

Answer:The Application Failed To Initialize

Its a registry error. Registry fixes are risky, but if you want to get rid of these problems, buy Registry Mechanic, and run it.

If you cant BUY anything, then i suggest Advanced Windows Care.

Do a full scan with that and let it finish, its PC care in 1 button .

Its from IOBIT .

I've recently reformatted my pc. So go through the usual steps, installing drivers, windows updates etc. Directly after i install XP SP2 and reboot, there is another "security update" so i install that update, reboot my pc. after the black loading window xp screen, my whole screen goes black with an error message saying "failed to initialize lsass.exe" i click ok, and my computer screen remains black. I have tried searching without much luck.

I have found a way around it, which is to boot from disk and repair the windows installation, but obviously i need to download all the updates again, so i just roll into the same problem

All help is appreciated.

I have a T61 15.4'' widescreen with the Quatro NVS 140M discrete graphics card. When I go into dxdiag.exe, it shows the directdraw hardware acceleration as enabled. However, when I try to run a program which requires DirectDraw, I recieve an error message saying DirectDraw failed to initialize. This is odd because DirectDraw was working fine a few weeks ago. I have a C++ program which compiles, links and executes fine in the Windows environment. However, if I modify the properties of the exe file; specifically the compatabilty tab and have the program disable visual themes or have the program run in compatabilty mode, the program fails to load and I get this fatal error.

I run the dependency tool and I can see the program access violate at load time. I am currently running Windows XP professional with sevice pack 2...

I would be thankful for any help or advice.

Answer:Application Failed to Initialize

Hi carlmcool,

Welcome to TSG!

Your program was compiled and ran in the WinXP environment without compatibility mode assistance because no compatibility mode assistance was necessary.

Windows compatibility mode as I understand it is for earlier generation Windows programs to be run in a WinXP environment in compatibility mode, and not for programs compiled in a WinXP environment to be run in compatibility mode.

Already, time for my impossible question of the week...

I need to edit the properties of the Exchange POP3 Connector on a Windows 2000 SBS Server.

When I click on the "Microsoft Connector for POP3 Mailboxes" in the MMC, I'm told:

Snap-in failed to initialize.
Name: Microsoft Connector for POP3 Mailboxes
CLSID: {CB36A742-AE4C-442E-A105-C029841FD88F}Click to expand...

Although I have no need to use it at this time, I get a similar message for ISA Management Extension:

Snap-in failed to initialize.
Name: ISA Management Extension
CLSID: {DE6D5ACC-0134-40FC-BA51-9B67BE890C55}Click to expand...

So, as I see it, we have two possible solutions: (1) figure out why the heck this snap-ins are failing... others work (even others in Exchange!)... but not the one I need. Or, alternaively (2) figure out a way to edit the properties of the POP3 Connector outside of this system's MMC.

There you go. You've got your mission.

I have tried a repair of Incredimail. I have also done a check disc error.
In the past, my check disc has worked and I was able to open Incredimail. It did not work this time. I have looked over the forum for similar problems and I did download Hijackthis and run a scan. Here I my report if you would please be so kind as to tell me what you think.

Hi there, and Happy New Year.

Powered up my old Gateway yesterday, and after seeing brief Windows logo screen, all went black, then the following messages... "lsass.exe failed to initialize properly. click ok to terminate". I clicked that, then got the same message for services.exe. clicked that and got the same two messages again, then nothing but a black screen with a "working" (movable) mouse pointer. Did a hard reboot a couple of times, but got the same result.

What's up with this thing??? Is this malware or system problems or what?

thanks for any help!

Answer:lsass.exe failed to initialize....

I doubt this is a malware problem and I'm moving this to the Sotware Forum.

Did you check to see if you can boot in safe mode and also does "Last known good configuration" work? I would expect that neither of these would work but you should check.

Hopefully you have your bootable Windows XP SP2 CD because you are probably going to need it.

This morning I turned on the computer as usual, I started my daily routine of turning on MSN Messanger, and opening iTunes. Right away both programs gave me a, '0xc0000022 failed to initialize' error.

That's when I got slightly irritated. And decided to do a google search, Alas, Explorer, Firefox, AND Google chrome, didn't work. Then it occured to me it could be spyware, but, nothing will open at all.

So pretty much, nothing will open on my computer, everything gets this error.

I have admin access on all acounts I tried to acces these apps.

Help is very much appreciated, thanks in advance
And sorry if this is in the wrong place, I wasn't quite sure where to put it.

Edit: I'm not sure if this is the only problem within my system right now, considering I can't run any form of scans.

I can access e pretty much anything in Safe mode, but everything I do there doesn't work in normal mode. I am running Windows XP.

Also if I check the Windows Search Service under Administrative Tools I find that the service has not started, I'm also getting frequent error logs for search service in the event viewer i.e...

The registry version does not match with the expected <4020000>, or the registry cannot be accessed because the service account does not have the correct permissions. Uninstall the previous version before installing the new one.

"The application failed to initialize properly (0x80000003). Click on OK to terminate the application."

Since I installed Visual Studio 2005, I've been getting this error when trying to run Soulseek, which has been working fine before. After OK, the same message comes up again, and after OK again, it closes and Soulseek doesn't run.

The same thing happens trying to run Media Player Classic, and the HijackThis installer.

Some googling suggested that other people had similar problems with other programs that might be .NET Framework related. I tried reinstalling Framework 2.0, installing 3.0, without any luck. Finally, I uninstalled Visual Studio and everything I could identify as installed with it, but still nothing.

Any help would be appreciated.

This file has failed to initialize 0XC000142 (then something like hit OK to continue)

It happens very fast right before the computer turns off and doesn't seem to be affecting anything.

When the computer turns back on everything seems to be running fine.

I would like to know what could be done to fix (or stop) this error upon shut down.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a process is having trouble shutting down. Is it possible tho have Task Manager open and watch to see what spikes or hangs when you go to shut down?

Apparently this has happened to other people on this forum, but it is happening to me now.

Error: 0xc0000017

After my computer has been on for a while, usually overnight, my applications stop working. In the morning I have to reboot to get the computer to respond.

Pressing ctrl+alt+del gives the following error message:

The application failed to initialize properly 0xc0000017

Instead of bringing up the task manager.

The problems are solved by restarting, but it may happen the next morning if I leave the computer on overnight.

I'm using XP Pro SP2, with 2GB RAM. I checked my RAM this morning and it is all there.

How can I find out what is causing this problem? How can I fix it?

Sidney

"A programme failed to initialize, Windows will now shut down."I've been getting this message whenever I shut down today. The shutdown process works, but I'm wondering why the above message has started appearing (albeit momentarily).I did revert back to a Windows checkpoint last night. Can't see how that would cause any issues, though.I've run an anti-virus programme (AVG Free) in safe mode, and also cleared a few nasties away using SpyBot & AdAware, but this made no difference anyway.Window XP Home.

Hello,
Thanks for offering this forum !
I have a PC running Win XP SP2.

I have an error showing up that maybe someone can help with ?
(see attached jpg)

Basically, when I goto START.. RUN and enter WMIMGMT.MSC,
and then right click PROPERTIES on WMI CONTROL(local),
I get the error:

'Connected <currently logged on user>

Failed to initialize all required WMI classes
Win32_processor:Win32: Access is denied
Win32_WMI setting: Successful
Security Information : Successful
Win32_Operating System:Win32: Access is denied '

As a matter of interest, since this error came up,
I now have no listings in my Network Connections (Control Panel)
folder. I am connected via WIFI to the internet still, but the
aforementioned folder is empty and the usual 'double tv screens'
in the task bar are gone (via which I connect to Wireless Zero
Configuration as I recall). When I goto services.msc, it shows the
Wireless Zero config as Automatic start up and Running.

But really, I think this will be fixed if I can fix the WMI Access
is Denied problem (BTW, I am Administrator on this computer)

Any help in fixing this much appreciated !!!
Sincerely,
Dbar

Hi,

I'm sure you've seen a LOT of these problems on threads before, and i've checked those ones, along with countless other web pages for the last several days.

i've been getting the "Application failed to initialize properly (0x0000005.)" error with quite a few programs, and its odd because the programs had been working fine months ago. one of the programs started showing me the error, then many of them started giving me the same one! also, many of the recent programs i install will give me the error the first time i run them.
none of this had happened until Atmosphir showed me the message, then it just went downwards from there. and it's not just with games, either, several of my applications also have the problem.

its not with EVERY game or app, but it certainly is affecting a lot of them and i'd like to find some way of getting those games and apps back.

Thankyou very much for the help, and if there's any required info just tell me.

Our AVG software was trying to do some updates/scanning files, but locked up the computer. Our Internet Explorer would not open, but when we opened up Outlook, it was sending messages to random emails. We manually shut the computer off and when we started it back up again, it gave us the explore.exe application error. Hello all, I have my friends Compaq desktop running XP SP2 and it won't boot to the desktop, not even in safe mode. He says he thinks he downloaded a virus, but I can't even get it into Safe Mode. I get this error: Lsass.exe: Application Failed To Initialize Properly and my mouse won't work, nor my keyboard! Right now, it's running a CHKDSK /R any other ideas? Thanks!

Answer:Lsass.exe Failed To Initialize Properly

Hello .

Lsass.exe errors can be various things, primarily either registry problems or possible malware.

Correcting either without the ability to boot the system into Windows...calls for more ability than I have.

I am adding this thread to our list of Unbootable Computers and asking someone from the BC Malware Team to take a look.

In the meantime...do not take suggestions from other members of the forum which are well-intended, but may have negative results. Thank you.

I receive this message every time I log into my computer in normal mode. It then displays my wallpaper with nothing else ... by opening task manager, I can run a number of applications, but many of them don't initialize properly, with the same code (0xc0000022) as explorer.exe

However I can start up in safe mode;

I have run an AVG command line scan, it finds a number of infections but cannot heal them.
I have also run a MalwareBytes anti-malware scan; it found no infections
I have tried SFC on command prompt, but get an RPC server error
I have tried CHKDSK (chkdsk /f) on command prompt but it requires the boot-up version to be run. The boot-up chkdsk will not initialize what-so-ever.

The problem seemed occur when I upgraded my Bullguard 8.7 to Bullguard 10.0; it initially slowed down the computer ridiculously, so I uninstalled it and replaced it with AVG 2011 to cover me until I could work my way around the slowing down issue

Rebooting is also not an option; I have a considerable amount of design work for my current A level exams and cannot afford to lose it.

So basically, I'm looking for some help. Thanks.

Hi,
Ive noticed that last couple of times I have been infected with a virs or a trojan, when I go try to execute an application, I get the following error

" application failed to initialize"

and it will not run.

Does anyone know what causes this? Is there a way to trap this error and see what caused it? is there any logs that would give insight into why this is occuring? If a virus puts malicious code in the operating system to cause this, where would it be or what might it look like?

I am doing more and more investigation into how viruses work and also how to detect them better. any help on this or maybe any websites that would help me would be appreciated. thanks.

I would appreciate any useful information. Making sly remarks is childish.

I to have received the message: "USERINIT.exe Application failed to initialize" after removing software that was previously install and may have been causing the computer to not get a TCP/IP number. Now I can not get to the desktop, It hangs.

I agree sometimes reloading a cleaned of hard drive may be the only way to resolve a problem. However, first see if there are any quick fixes that may save some time.

If all you can say is start over again from scratch then you are wasting your time and everyone else's that reads for some answers.

I thank anyone that tries to help others.

When my PC starts up I first get an error messsage saying "the application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150004). Click on OK to terminate the application" for a file called "dlbtbmon.exe". I get the same message when trying to open up windows messenger only for the file "msnmsgr.exe".
Also when I try to open a newer version of windows media playerit tells me that "Windows media play is not installed properly and must be reinstalled. Do you want to install the player from the microsoft website?" And then when I do that, it will give me the same exact message. My windows xp home will not boot in regular or safe mode, or any system restore modes, it gets to windows loading bar then gives me a blue "video drivers failed to initialize" error after which i reset.

This happened after i tried to install updated drivers for my nforce 6800 mobo (may have been the wrong drivers). I installed another version of windows and copied over the working drivers from the system32/drivers directory, but this did not fix the problem.

I read that this problem can be related to a corrupted beep.dll file, but that file was replaced when i copied over the drivers and still same starting error.

When i attempted to run in vga mode i got an error that system32\drivers\nvatabus.dll was missing, upon running repair and the above mentioned driver copy this error stopped occuring and i just go ther regular failed to initialize error.

any suggestions on reseting to default video drivers long enough to install the proper ones through the install program on the right os?

There seem to be some underlieng overheating issues in this system also but they may or may not be related, though they do seem to account for the random freezes that occur when performing high end or fat32 functions.

ive run memtests and they came back clean (except that one of my sticks is named v7v7v7v7v7v7, or something like that), and ive reset bios to failsafes.

the option of installing windows over the old windows remains, but i would rather not lose all my pro... Read more

Answer:Video drivers failed to initialize

Hmm This one looks a bit difficult. So I can understand that you have resorted to here

Lets get through the basics

You tried Memtest but did you actually do Memtest for 7 Passes?
I think it would be best to run CheckDisk from the Windows CD Recovery Console chkdsk C:/f (More info further down this page)
You can even run System Restore from Safe Mode Command Prompt %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe (if you can get there)

You could also try a Windows Repair (although it may fail with those incorrect drivers , not sure..)

Another option would be to remove your HardDrive and back it up in another computer (although you want to avoid this step!) And install Windows clean

My Dell inspiron 1545 laptop with 2G ram running at 2.2GHz on VISTA operating system.
While my wife was working on it, it started getting a .NET runtime optimization service has stopped working error. I used repair under programs in the control panel to fix that problem. I then installed the latest service pack and after rebooting when I click on microsoft outlook I get a application failed to initialize properly and will not load.
I ran the kaspersky rescue disk and scanned for virus with none found. I also ran superAntispyware program and found 22 ad ware files that I cleaned out, My AOL program also has the application failed to initialize error.
Is this a virus issue?

Any help would be appreciated.

Sometimes this type of error is caused by a wrong date or time on your computer. Make sure you have the correct date and time.

Hello,

I've been having a problem lately. Several minutes after I log onto the computer, new programs and the internet cannot be opened, but anything that was previously opened will function. I get the error message: The application failed to initialize properly (Oxc015004). Click OK to terminate the application. Also, when I try to move files into folders, Roxio tries to install (O_o), if that has anything to do with anything.

I know that there can be several causes for this error message, and I'll provide any scans/info that you need.

* Motherboard - Dell Computer Corp.

* CPU ? Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz

* RAM ? 512 MB

* Video Card(s) ? 64MB GeForced4 MX Graphics Card with TV-Out

* Hard Drive(s) ? 60 GB Ultra ATA/100 Hard Drive 7200RPMbrand

I have a brand new Dell, and after about a week of smooth sailing, following power up now I get the following msg, "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click on OK to terminate the application." This happens with EVERY app on the PC, even Control Panel and System Tools icons. Doesn't matter if I click on the desktop icon, go to Programs, or go into Windows Explorer to the program itself. Funny thing is, I can use the Quicklaunch icons to run Norton and Spy Sweeper and get to the internet. I have Zone Alarm Pro running, and ran Norton, Spy Sweeper, Spybot Search & Destroy, and Ad Aware last week like I do every Saturday. Clean as a whistle. Today I ran Norton (again), Spy Sweeper (again), online Micro Trend and a demo of Trojan Hunter and found nothing. One other thing: I used Aloha Bob to migrate Office 2000 and a few other files and apps to my new PC and did not encounter any problems for about a week. I migrated the same apps to my wife's new Dell and her PC is just fine.Do I need to reinstall XP and just start over? Thanks,SaltyLogfile of HijackThis v1.99.1Scan saved at 6:48:43 PM, on 2/18/2005Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180)Running processes:C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\csrss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exeC:\WIND... Norton told me that it found a w32virut.CF virus attacking, and it was removed. I did a boolean for it and found mywebsearch still in my system. So I removed it through the control panel's add/remove programs. Then I ran HJT and found no traces of registry keys from the keys known ones on line. I rebooted OS and now google chrome does not browse. I am doing this through safari, and it seems to be operational. Chrome, when it starts up leaves 2 consecutive identical alerts:
application failed to initialize properly (oxc0000005)
before removal of mywebsearch, the computer was going very, very slow, but now it's close to normal. It's more of a nuisance not being able to use my favorite browser. I have the HJT file posted below. Maybe something else is going on with my comp that I am unaware of?

One day, I was just listening to music and I decided to open up a game called Magic Workstation. I have been playing it for over a year now. That was the first time I got the message "The Application Failed to initialize." It also had the code "0xc0000005."

Then I restarted my computer and at startup, MSN Messenger had the same problem. When I ran DDS, there was also this problem, although it managed to still work. There is the same problem with Microsoft Word as well.

Other symptoms include a slower internet explorer.

I have ran a system restore to no luck.

Any help?

Welcome to the forums!I'm odd dude (OD for friends ;)) and I'll see what I can do for you.The symptoms you're experiencing are indicative of a certain infection, and can be fixed.I see you already have run combofix. Let's download the newest version and run it again.ComboFixIMPORTANT NOTE: ComboFix is a VERY POWERFUL tool. DO NOT use it without expert guidance.ComboFix uses very brute tactics to rip malware off your system. *Sigh*, I love this section but hate to be back.

A few days ago AVG was picking up some recurring spyware and trojans, so I let it do a full system scan then reboot. The viruses it was picking up are gone, however there is still some sort of malware problem. On almost anything I open, a dialog box with the title "Rundll.exe" pops up and displays the message "The application failed to initialize properly." then some error code (0xc0000005)? Several programs stop responding for a while, and svchost.exe is using alot of memory and CPU. I see a few weird things in my HJT log and I'm hoping someone could help me out

Ah, and if it's any help, I remember the name "Huer" popping up on the scanner.
And, It seems that when I open IE, I get viruses located in my temporary internet folder

I'm having problems with a friend's PC that it stuck in a reboot loop. It's giving me the BSOD Stop Error 0x0000004b, which is a problem with the video card or it's drivers. I've went through both KB articles covering the subject, but neither have worked. I can't boot into safe mode, VGA mode or use the Last Known Configuration Option.

So far I've tried using the recovery console's chkdsk /r option, attempted a repair through the 2000 Pro setup disk and nothing works. It's an integrated video card, so would throwing in a PCI card possibly work?

Are there any other options? Thanks!!!

Everything was fine till I installed my Avast anti virus and every function I attempt comes up with "this application failed to initialize properly" now. I don't know if the Avast installation caused this or something else. I can't remove the anti virus because I can't get anything to function. I did go into Safe Mode and had some functionality. Does Avast cause a problem like this if I am not upgraded to service pack 2 or 3?

Ok when I boot in normal mode (it might be a good idea here to let you all know when I boot in safe mode everything works 100%) I get this error "The application failed to initialize properly (0x0000022). Click OK to terminate." on almost every application, at first only a couple of my apps worked at all (being Guild Wars, Pidgin IM, and PowerMenu) so I booted in safe mode so I could access the internet and searched around. Here's what I've tried so far to *little success:
CACLS C:WINDOWS\System32\*.dll /E /G BUILTIN\Users:R
CACLS C:WINDOWS\System32\*.ocx /E /G BUILTIN\Users:R
takeown /f C:WINDOWS\System32\*.dll.
icacls C:WINDOWS\System32\*.dll /grant administrators:F.
And generally a lot of commands like the above.
*Ive noticed slight improvement I got like 2 or 3 more things to run (VLC, ThreatFire)
I've done net user Administrator /active:yes to unlock the real admin account but I still get the error on that. I've done system restore to an earlier date, no help. Its a store bought PC so it didn't come with a Vista disk. I tried booting up with Windows Vista Recovery Disc Download ? The NeoSmart Files but it didn't fix anything. Also I can't do geek squad that stuff costs more than my computer did
The problem really is I have no idea what the problem is. I don't know if its even really a permissions problem.

Not an expert, hope this is the correct forum.
I have an Inspiron E1505 (6400) which has a maddening problem with lost USB connections.
I connect to my USB ports, a printer, a DVB device, and a cell phone connected by a USB cable to the laptop which gives access to the net.
The DVB device and the printer occasionally can't be found, but the phone is a constant pain - here's what happens.
I boot up, attach the USB cable to the phone and go online, later I dsconnect then try to return to the net. Occasionally I can, but usually get the message "failed to initialse phone"
I tried uninstalling the phone driver, and uninstalling the software without effect, I have to uninstall, shut down the computer, and then reinstal the software to get things to work, and then the first time I disconnect, the whole procedure has to be gone thru again - needless to say this is extremely frustrating and time consuming.
Dell have been no help, can someone give me a hint as to what to do?
I have checked device manager and everything appears normal (no yellows), I do have an installed wireless card, don't have the knowledge to figure if something could possibly be conflicting there or not.
A friend suggested I send a Hijack log in case that should show anything, so I include one when it wouldn't work, and a second when I'm actually on the web.
Thanks for any help.

Have you tried "simply" restarting the PC w/o any uninstall/reinstall?

Do any of the USB devices lose power (which, I guess, you can only tell if they have a power LED or if you hear the beep of a USB device leaving)? If so, is it a bigger problem when on battery than on AC?

New to posting in help forums - I'm at my wits end after following every lead I could turn up to fix this problem.

Noticed first when trying to play WoW - symptom: pressing 'Play' from the launcher fails to start the game - no error message. Running WoW.exe directly from its folder turns up the message 'Application failed to initialize properly' (0xc0000005). Then I discovered the same error code when I try to change sound volume from the task bar volume control. Speakers work, just get the Sndvol32.exe 0xc0000005 error when I try to change volume. WMP controls volume just fine.

Running Windows XP with latest updates, all drivers updated, no errors in device manager. Ran Dxdiag with no errors. Reinstalled sndvol32.exe from windows installation disc, reverted to previous restore point prior to loading WoW . . . nothing I've tried has worked.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:WoW won't launch, sndvol32.exe failed to initialize

Did you try the wow repair tool? It may be that a file got corrupted while updating. Use any mods that need updating? Use a new mod that you never used before?

Just some easy suggestions to try if you didn't. WoW repair tool, if you have never used it, should be somewhere in your WoW directory i believe.

Hi. The message above is the message I first received. Now the error appears to be 0xc00000e9.  I had unplugged the printer and the mouse, the only things attached to my Lenovo R61i laptop. If I just turn the computer on and don't do anything, I get a blue screen that says: Recovery There was a problem with a device connected to your PC An unexpected I/O error has occurred. File: \Boot\BCDError code: 0xc00000e9 I also cannot boot from a disk.  I get the same blue screen with the message above on it. Any suggestions?  Any help would be appreciated. Lura
