So the Microsoft Windows Store is full of scammers.

Question: So the Microsoft Windows Store is full of scammers.

"Full of" may be a little strong (maybe not).
But you have to be careful where ever you shop. There is a post over at the JRiver Media Center forum about a guy RAMESH NAGALLA who is selling JRiver for $3.99 - and bunch of other programs that he doesn't own. Apparently he has a lot of software for sale (JRiver, Zoom Player, Tomb Raider, etc.) that he doesn't have licensing agreement for.
I bet it would be tough to get refund from this guy.

-here's an article on the situation (old but relevant):
http://www.howtogeek.com/194993/the-...icrosoft-care/

Microsoft need to get tougher on this. BTW - Apple charges $100 year to put apps on their store (making less like a crook will make a profit before he/she is caught and kicked off the site).

Preferred Solution: So the Microsoft Windows Store is full of scammers.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

hey. dont be so sceptical about the new main feature of windows 10. you can now buy or try software via a software that pretends not to be a internet browser entirely layouted for showing you colorful squares with descriptions below it...ehhhh....waiiiiit a secooond...

also -> buy software via a bought software ... -> INCEPTION!

Hold on I am just receiving something...
MS-Marketing department live leaked communication:

- "Yo Cyril I think we really managed to sell our users a Windows 7/8 with an App Store that will generate even more turnaround for us and we just called it Windows 10, isn't that awesome and fabulous at the same time?"

- "Yeah Christopher, thats right, topkek!!! Apple was right, you really can sell anything for money to the common plebs as long as you put it in a golden looking box and pretend it's a giveaway."

- "Ha yup, and wait until in 5 years when everyone will believe that an OS without an integrated AppStore is no real OS anymore"

- "Mhm... that means bye bye Linux........ EERRRRR wait what? ... Linux had an AppStore almost from the beginning of time...?!?!? They call it 'package manager' you say? ??? What!? All apps are FREE??? You gotta be kidding me. What are we gonna do?"

- "Don't worry... no one will notice. We just do what we always did. Make as much money as we can until everyone woke up"

Came across this by accident after just watching a video. Haven't seen any post about it on this forums so, here it is. You simply press the following combination of keyboard keys, and Edge, or any other Windows Store application instantly enters full-screen mode:Ctrl + Win + Enter
Press the same combination of keyboard keys to exit full-screen mode, or hover you mouse pointer to the top right corner of your screen and click the exit full-screen button.
Not sure why this handy feature isn't readily accessible via a shortcut in Edge's overflow menu, but that's typical of microsoft...

Windows 9 will reportedly have new activation methods that will tie the OS more closely with a specific PC

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) will unveil Windows 9 this fall, claims notorious Russian leaker WZor, who has a pretty good track record. In a Russian language post on Ru-Board, the leaker said that the upcoming update to Windows 8 will be the last major overhaul of the existing OS. Microsoft is expected to launch the Windows 8 Update 2 in August.

Windows 9 to have new activation methods

WZor claimed that Microsoft will back the launch of Windows 9 with heavy advertising blitzkrieg and a new distribution method. The new activation methods will tie a copy of Windows 9 more closely with a specific PC. It will require the user to log in to Microsoft Store, and users won’t be given an activation key. Talking about Windows 8, WZor said that there will be new updates after the Update 2 due next month. But no new features will be added to it.

Motivation behind the new activation method is “problems in China.” The world’s most populous country recently banned Windows 8. Notably, a couple of weeks ago, WZor claimed that Microsoft may announce Windows 9 at its Worldwide Partner Conference, which begins July 13 in Washington D.C. That claim was missing in the latest report, but WZor reassured us that the new OS will be launched this fall. However, he only talked about the announcement, without revealing whether it will be a Developer... Read more

Answer:Microsoft to Force Microsoft Store Account to Activate Windows 9

Not sure how logging into the store ties the OS more specifically to a computer. Doesn't seem right at all. However, if it is only logging onto the Microsoft Store to activate, and not forcing a Microsoft account to use the computer, I can see that being okay. As long as the local account continues to be an option, things will be fine. If I'm forced to use a Microsoft account to use my computer... I'll stay on 8.1. And then maybe move to Linux.

Transformation of UI is already being done in 8.1 Update 1. No surprise that it would be further enhanced.

Launch of 9 wouldn't put an end to 8. And let's face it, Microsoft never lost its dominance on the desktop market. There is nothing for them to re-establish here. The only thing they need to establish is a stronger presence in the mobile market.

Microsoft Windows Store is a mess. It's full of apps that exist only to scam people & take their money. Why doesn't Microsoft care that their flagship App store is such a cesspool?

For more, continue reading, there are clear examples of scams, including apps that we can freely download.

Note that MS pre-approves every one of these apps prior to release to their App Store & they get their slice of the profits.

Answer:Watch Out....The Windows Store is Full of Scams & MS don't care!

I would guess the primary reason is money and the secondary would be it lets Microsoft pad the number of apps available in the store. Microsoft really wanted to copy the Apple ecosystem but it backfired badly.

If someone really wants the high end $2179 version of the Lenovo Helix, and lives near a physical Microsoft Store, you might stop by and check the price. While it is on sale for $1799 on the web site, it was marked at either $1399 or $1499 in the Scottsdale store. Sorry, I didn't pay too much attention, hence the statement it was one of those two prices. It, however, was certainly not a typo since all three demos had the same sales tag and they were definitely all the high end model.

I could access the store with my Comcast account.. a great PR move on Microsoft's part. as most providers use all operations systems anyways for their customers..

Answer:Microsoft should allow Local accouts access to Microsoft/Windows Store for local accunts

You can already selectively sign into the apps like the store, groove, film and music etc.
I use a local account and i can download apps + games as i have only signed into the store.
When signing into a Windows System App such as Groove or Store, choose to sign-in into that app only - it is the option written in semi grey text.

Hi,

The Microsoft Store on my laptop (Dell Inspiron 14 / Windows 10 version 1607) does not work. A screen capture is included in this post. The issue started a few weeks ago, before the last few updates. I have attempted several fixes that I have found on the Internet, all with no success. I have done the clear and reset fix - i.e. wsreset.exe. I have done several power shell command fixes with no success. The last thing I did was a system file system check - i.e. sfc /scannow and everything was fine. The issue occurs even on a newly created user. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ricardo

Hello, I was receiving an error whenever I attempted to install an application via the Microsoft Store after receiving my brand new Surface Book. I found a fix to my specific issue here. The relevant bits are:

Code:
As you are unable to install an app from the Windows store, I suggest you to try the below and check if it helps.Method 1: Run WSReset.exe .

Press Windows+R key to open Run boxEnter wsreset.exe in the Run command and then tap or click OK.Restart your computer and check.
If resetting Windows Store cache does not help. Try the below,
Method 2: Re-register Windows Store by running the following commands in a CMD window started as Administrator:
Follow the below steps.

Open the Start menu, type Windows PowerShell in the search bar.Right click on the Windows PowerShell and select Run as administrator. Then enter the chkdsk command
PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted

$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest

After running #3 in method 2 the Windows Store wouldn't even start. So based on what I was seeing I tried what was suggested at this link, relevant bits below:

Code:
Now, use the Add-AppxPackage command to reinstall the Windows Store. Use the following command:Add-AppxPackage -register "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\<PackageFullName>" ?DisableDevelopmentMode

Hi, you can (apparently- I've not tried it) remove store from current user or all users, but this is NOT RECOMMENDED
See:

(To remove Store app from current account only - NOT RECOMMENDED)
Get-AppxPackage *windowsstore* | Remove-AppxPackage

(To remove Store app from all current accounts - NOT RECOMMENDED)

(To remove Store app from new accounts created afterwards - NOT RECOMMENDED)
Code:

Naturally you're welcome to try and see how far you get, but I suspect you will end up doing a (relatively painless) in place upgrade install: I've seen a number of people struggling with apparently confined defects (myself included) for which one might think there should be an easy fix, and waste a considerable amount of time doing so.

Note that typically used Powershell commands from build 10586 break things rather than fix them now. Frustrating.

Posting this here as both a question and FYI for anyone that may run into this in the future. Last November, I purchased Windows 10 Pro (full retail) from the Microsoft Store as a digital download. I found it strange that they did not send me a key, so no problem I'll just use Produkey to extract it and store it somewhere safe if I ever have to do a re-install.

Well fast forward to yesterday. I recently built a new system (specs in sig), and to make a long story short I went through LITERAL HELL with Microsoft to get this re-activated. The key I extracted from the previous install was blocked due to the hardware changes. I think.. oh ok, no problem.. I'll just activate by phone.... WRONG. It still failed. I ended up calling Microsoft support, got transferred 4 times, and finally got to a nice young lady that remoted into my machine and fixed the issue for me and got the system activated.

So upon further research.. Microsoft has changed the way they do the licensing a bit for Windows 10. I have what I believe is called a "digital entitlement" which is basically locked to the hardware it was installed on. At first they told me I would have to buy another copy of Windows 10 and I was furious and demanded a supervisor, at which point they realized I had bought a legitimate copy and proceeded with getting it activated. This may be old news for some, but posting my experience and what I uncovered anyhow.

So here's my question.. is the Produkey method ... Read more

Answer:Windows 10 Microsoft Store purchase - where's the key?

The product key is likely a generic key because as you said the licensing is done via digital entitlement. It's very similar to how product keys on OEM activated computers are basically generic, place-holder keys.

The nice part about digital entitlement is that you can reinstall without typing in a key, you just skip they key and if the system was already activated the new install will activate as well. The bad part, as you encountered, is that the store purchase, just like the free Windows 10 upgrades, you don't actually get a key if you want to move it (if you're even legally able to).

Regarding your issue, when you bought the 10 license originally did you see a EULA that mentioned transferring to a new computer?

I just tried to find some EULA information for the version of 10 purchased from their store and I cannot find any. I really don't know what the restriction is for transferring.

Was at the Microsoft Store today and they had a Windows 8 preview on a Samsung tablet. Amazing is the last word I would use. It was incredible. No way this translates well for a desktop, but it certainly works well on the tablet. Not to say it won't be nice, just not the same great experience as on the tablet. Not to mention while I was there, one of the store reps greeted the customers to a demonstration, which I thought was pretty good marketing. Just thought I'd share.

I am a windows insider. I have been complaining about their "modern apps" failures for 6 months now. Most people tried to shut me up by saying they were test releases. But as we got closer and closer, I escalated more and more including Satya Nadella and Gabe Aul. They seemed to come out with bandaid fixes but never addressed the root cause. While the store is likely to stabilize over time, you can look forward to problems with other modern apps like "People", "Microsoft Money (Finance)", and other apps that are the ones generally supporting live tiles. Mail and calendar have not been resistant to this problem. While I suspect that data in your users/appdata folder is getting corrupted, windows folks in Redmond have been keeping mum about this issue. So sorry for your experience with Windows 10. I can tell you that classic apps seems to be pretty rock solid. In my opinion, only when Microsoft starts debugging with tracing and a sniffer on their network do they have a chance of resolving this. My experience is that they keep recoding and hope it goes away. Best of lu... Read more

Are there any ways to block the Microsoft store on Windows 10 Pro now that the official method by Microsoft was removed with the anniversary update? Or at the very least, is there a way to stop people from downloading and installing apps? Even though the user is logged on as a User, not Administrator, they can still install the app (but not traditional software executables). Is there a way I can maybe do this on the network level by blocking ports?

I do have some Enterprise licenses but I would rather not have to waste them if the computer already comes with Windows 10 Pro.

First, I am not sure whether this is the correct discussion, sorry if it is not.
The problem: Two days ago I bought the app Oxford Hachette French Dictionary from the Microsoft Store using their web page. I have confirmation that the payment has gone through and that I am the "owner".
I attempted to download the app, clicking on the button on the web page, whence Store opened. The app appears to have downloaded and Install starts, but then there is an error Code: 0x87AF000B. I have done this several times just in case.
In the "elevated" cmd prompt, I have entered
net stop wuauserv | move "c:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution" "c:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution.old" | net start wuauserv
then rebooted the computer. This made no difference to downloading the purchased app so I reversed what I had done. [ | is standing for carriage return or enter]
I ran WSReset.exe. The result was "ms-windows:store:PurgeCaches | Package could not be registered."
I'm scared to go further in case I make the situation worse.
Please would someone advise how to make MS Store downloads work.
Thanking you in advance for your answer/s
regards
JanetW

Microsoft officials say the latest Windows 10 cumulative update fixes problems some users were having with Windows Store. What else is in it? We have no idea.

The newest cumulative update is KB3081438. The Microsoft Support page says nothing about the specific features and fixes that are new to this update beyond "This update includes improvements to enhance the functionality of Windows 10."

Answer:Microsoft's third Windows 10 cumulative update said to fix Store issues

"This update includes improvements to enhance the functionality"
Any update with a vague description like that should be considered suspicious. If I were offered an update worded like that for my windows 8.1 machine I would definitely refuse it, if they won't say what it is for it is either not important or not pleasant. Remember that this is the sort of language which was the wording used for the KB page of kb3035583 when it was first released (it's page has been updated since to give a more accurate description of what it does, but when that update first came out it's page was all vague like that).

If a person has apps from the Microsoft store, do they have to be repurchased if you reinstall Windows 8 or are they like Apple's App Store where there is no cost to reinstall?

Answer:Microsoft store apps question on reinstalling Windows 8

Hello, I do own a Microsoft Lumia 550 from the 30th of December '15 and I didn't have a problem with it since the last days, when I wanted to download from the Windows Store the app called "CSR Racing". It downloads until the end, it stays there 5 minutes and after that it shows up an error code. I did install a lot of other apps from the Store but it seems this one is the only one that doesn't want to install and to be ready to go. Can somebody help me with my problem?
P.S: The phone itself came with Windows 10 installed and I did do the phone update(s) and did install all app updates, I even did a factory reset to see if that solves the problem, but no luck there :(

Hi All,

I need help finding the folder for the games I downloaded from the Microsoft Store in Windows 10. It gets annoying finding games through the search tool and having them pinned to my taskbar would also be inconvenient. I would rather they were in a folder. Does anyone know how to get them all into one folder? I've tried..

Answer:How to find games I've downloaded from Microsoft Store (Windows 10)

If they are xbox app games they are listed and can be launched via the xbox app.

For a list of all your downloaded app games, click the store app, click your account photo on the upper right of your screen and click "my library", all your game downloads will be there, you can then click on a game and then click open to play it.

Hi guys!

I'm having this problem since yesterday, and I can't find anyone with the same problem.
I have this problem where no microsoft applications work. I can't open Edge, Windows Store or Photos app. When I want to open them, there is absolutely 0 response. No error-message, nothing! When I observe the task manager while starting these apps, they DO appear for like, 1 second. They immediately disappear though.
I don't know what the issue is. I have this problem since I installed the application: SaferVPN (I already uninstalled it).
Ou yea, my Windows search doesn't work either. No reaction from the system at all.

I already tried running sfc /scannow.
My computer is up to date.
There were no windows updates involved at the point of time where the problem occurred.
I tried restarting windows several times.

I run Windows 10 for quite a long time now. Also, when I want to add a Microsoft Account, it give no response either. (I think thats because it usually opens a small Edge Browser Windows for entering the credentials.

Can you guys please help me? I usually find my solutions in already existing forums, but I didn't find anyone who had the same problem as me (perhaps I didn't google the right thing and couldn't find it because of that.)

Thanks for anything in advance.
Kind Regards,
Maarten

Just like it happened in Windows 8, Windows 10 requires users to log in with a Microsoft account in order to install apps from the Store, but this is no longer valid for those whose computers are powered by the Pro SKU of the operating system.

German website WIndowsArea has discovered that Microsoft suddenly made a policy change that makes it possible for Windows 10 Pro users to install apps from the Windows Store without the need for a Microsoft Account.

There are some limitations though. First of all, only freeware applications can be installed, so if you want to purchase an app, an account is still required.

Then, if you?re trying to update a paid application that?s already installed on your Windows 10 device, an account is once again needed.

Why the change?
Microsoft hasn?t explained why exactly it made this change, but given the fact that it concerns the Pro version of the operating system, it?s not difficult to see that the company specifically targeted companies that are trying to get more control over what users install on their systems.

On the other hand, it?s not yet clear if the Enterprise SKU of Windows 10 can also install apps without a Microsoft account because reports in this regard are still mixed, with some claiming that it works, while others indicating that it doesn?t.

Without a doubt, installing apps from the Windows Store without an account can boost adoption of Store apps, but we?ve reached out to Microsoft to find out if this is inde... Read more

I find it perplexing that Microsoft still hasn't considered adding the ability to share Windows Store apps between all accounts on a shared PC like a family desktop. There are several feedback items in the Feedback Hub calling for sharing options ranging from sharing apps across accounts added on the PC to sharing with accounts added as your family on all your PCs.
Consider a simple scenario. I own Quantum Break on the Windows Store through my Xbox One Pre-order. Now I would like to install the game on my family desktop and be able to have it playable on other user accounts on my PC. Unfortunately, Microsoft doesn't make this a straight forward process like it is on platforms like Xbox One or Steam. The only way you can do it is by adding all other accounts to your family and then changing the Windows Store account on all those accounts to my Microsoft Account.
I don't have to state how archaic this whole process is. Given how much Microsoft is promoting Xbox Play Anywhere these days, they really should focus on making these basic scenarios simple first. As it stands, I cant convince anyone in my circle of family and friends to invest in the Xbox ecosystem if it cant deliver these features which steam has had for years.

Answer:Why hasn't Microsoft implemented Windows Store app sharing between accounts on a single PC?

I'm sincere: first time I herd that. Accounts were created for differentiate people on the same machine, avoiding damages or interferences.
On desktops, when you install most apps / progs , if you choose Custom install instead of Fast, it will ask sooner or later "Applies on your account or all accounts"

Answer:Possible to create factory default/recovery disk on s10-2 with windows 7 sold by microsoft store?

If it has OneKey Recovery, and it works the same as the version that comes with the S12, then yes, you can create Factory Default Recovery Disks using an external usb cd/dvd burner. One would assume that you can do a recovery this way too.

Three months of phone calls prove Windows scammers are more skilled at social engineering than you think.

?I am calling you from Windows.?

So goes the opening line of the well-known phone scam, where a person calls purporting to be a help desk technician reaching out to resolve your computer problems. These Windows scammers feed off people?s concerns about data breaches and identity theft to trick them into installing malware onto their machines. The scam has been netting victims for years, despite the fact that none of what the callers say makes sense.

I recently received such a call and decided to play along, to see how the scam evolves and who the players might be.

Over a period of three months, I received calls on average of four times a week, from various people, all intent on proving that my computer had been hacked and that they were calling to save the day. I had multiple opportunities to try a variety of conversational gambits and to ask questions of my own. Here is what I found out about the Windows scammer underworld via conversations with ?Jake,? ?Mary,? ?Nancy,? ?Greg,? ?William,? and others.

If you?re still waiting for your Windows 10 upgrade, you?re not alone. But, don?t be fooled if you receive an email purporting to be from Microsoft, with an attachment for you to ?upgrade now?. It?s a virus, and if you run it, your files will be encrypted, and a ransom for decryption required to be paid in Bitcoin.

If you?re trying to upgrade to Windows 10 and it fails with a screen pop up telling you to call for tech support, don?t call the number. It won?t be a Microsoft number you?ve called. It?s likely a scammer, trying to make money off you to ?fix? your problem. Chances are, there?s some spyware/malware/adware on your system which triggered the popup. Tech support scams are nothing new—we first went in-depth almost two years ago on "scareware scammers" who cold-call unsuspecting victims and try to talk them into compromising their computers by installing remote control applications and handing the keys over to the scammers.
We even managed to engage with one for a protracted length of time, with deputy editor Nate Anderson playing the role of a computer neophyte and recording the entire mess. But one developer has taken things a step further, producing a tool that will enable you to fight back if targeted—if you don’t mind a bit of bad acting yourself.

Hello and welcome to Major Geeks.

You will get many different views and reviews regarding Windows 8.1.

Depending on what you are using now, it will take a little or a lot of getting used to.

Personally, I really like it. It's much faster than my Windows 7 ever was and it's very stable (as was Win 7).

It would help to know what you want to use it for. If you are thinking of upgrading your current operating system to Win 8.1, you will want to make sure your computer is compatible.

Microsoft: Beware this fake Windows BSOD from tech support scammers' malware | ZDNet

Answer:Beware this fake Windows BSOD from tech support scammers' malware

Microsoft has sounded the alarm over a fake installer for its Security Essentials, which attempts to trick victims into contacting bogus help centers.

Tech-support scammers have stepped up their technical game, prompting a "severe" warning from Microsoft over new Windows malware that mimics Microsoft's free Security Essentials antivirus, and then displays a fake blue screen of death, or BSoD, with an error message and a suggestion to call a 1800 number that is not a Microsoft support center.

"Real error messages from Microsoft do not include support contact details," Microsoft said on its Malware Protection Center blog, warning of the new threat. It also never asks for payment for delivering tech support.

In Apps downloaded from the Windows Store (such as Words With Friends or a million other apps - not regular 'Windows Applications' such as Photoshop or something), they run in a special 'shell' that is obviously controlled by the OS. There are now 4 buttons in the top right (Close | Max/Restore | Minimize | Full Screen - from right to left). All the normal windows shortcuts work for all the known buttons but none of the possible/expected key combinations work for the 'Full Screen' button (such as ALT+ENTER or WINDOWS+UP several times). The button looks like two arrows pointing outward at a 45? angle. If you ARE in full screen, they look the same but the arrows point inward.

I don't know if I can post a link but here's the button I'm talking about https://i.imgur.com/YQc083l.png (just an Imgur link to YQc083l.png).

Answer:Shortcut key combination for 'Full Screen' button in Store Apps?

Unfortunately it's impossible to Google a search phrase that includes 'Windows' 'Shortcut key' 'Full Screen' or the like without returning a flood of pages that are just the normal shortcut keys that I already know. If I knew what to call that 'shell' that Apps from the Store run in, I might be able to narrow it down but they appear to be exe files and don't fire up a separate process when they launch. Any info on what that process is called that runs Windows Apps from the Windows Store may assist in my Google-foo. Of course, MS may not have any shortcut key for that 'Full Screen' function - there doesn't appear to be any 'tooltip text' when you mouse over the button in the image I posted originally.

I own a T61p, and my battery seems to be unusable, just out of the blue. The Lenovo battery utility says that it can store only 49% of its original capacity. The battery bar code is 11S92P1142Z1ZD4H78E1L8, and I first used the computer in October, even the battery says that (First used date: 2007-10) and the battery has a one year warranty. If I remove the power cord, the computer can stay alive only for a few minutes, regardless the 49% number.Oh, and the Power Manager says: Condition: Poor Should I send the battery to Lenovo's service; will Lenovo replace my battery? Thanks,Paul Message Edited by pvborza on 08-28-2008 10:53 AM

Answer:T61p battery can store 49% of its original full charge capacity

Raise a service issue. Lenovo service should send you a replacement battery and also packing into which you will return your bad one.

Hi there
Anybody running W8.1 in UNITY mode -- that WRETCHED Store app always starts in FULL SCREEN - so I can't get to desktop.

I never did like these Stinking "Store" things -- and why it even STARTS when I don't want the app at all is beyond me -- also you can't seem to un-install it -- I've removed from Taskbar and Start menu - no avail.

(Running Windows 8.1 on a colleagues Mac -- where I spotted the problem -- however it occurs also if you are running on PC's as well).

This is WINDOWS 8.1 Update 1.

Cheers
jimbo

Answer:I HATE Store app- Unity mode always starts in FULL SCREEN

did you try this? Store - Enable or Disable in Windows 8

I'm not using Unity (and haven't opened store for months either intentionally or automatically) but it might help. Luckily for me after unpinning it from the taskbar it was never seen again.

Worth a try I guess.

Yesterday my Windows Store is working, but can't download or update any apps in Windows Store.
After I turned off the PC for a few of hours then I open up the Windows Store and I get the error..

Screenshot:

If anyone known how to fix this, Please post your reply below
Note: I already did Windows Update troubleshooter and its doesn't find any problem.

Answer:Windows Store error code 0x801901F7, can't launch Windows Store

I'm having that exact same issue, so I'm bumping this thread.

I installed Windows 10 yesterday afternoon and everything worked fine. After the Store updated itself, it stopped working and it's showing that same error message.
I can't seem to find anything regarding that error code " 0x801901F7 ".

Any help would be appreciated!

More ways to promote your apps and drive user acquisition
Many of you told us that video trailers are one of the best ways to attract customers. You can now upload up to 15 trailers to use in your Store listing. When using trailers, make sure to also include the 1920 x 1080 pixel image (16:9) in the promotional images section, which shows up after the video stops playing. Feedback from other developers using videos has been very positive, try them out!

Hi, I have a problem with a Windows 10 store on my desktop PC. This is not a phone.
I have the latest build 10240 with all of the updates installed. The last few updates installed over last night and then my Store app stopped working.
I searched reddit and found some guys have a similar problem:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/3ej38n/store_update_stuck_on_00mb/
The thing was that when I tried to open the Store app this morning I've got a message: Before you can shop, we need to update the Store
I then pressed Update button and then It tries to update the Store app.
But then it just says Pending and it doesn't do anything for the whole day now.
I think there must be some other applications waiting for an update and they all got stuck.
Does any have any idea how to open the store?

Answer:Windows 10 Desktop (not for phones) Store update pending. How can I open the store?

Exactly the same problem here in New Zealand on 2 machines. 10240 is installed on both PCs and they simply refuse to download any data from the store that will perform the store update. One PC is sitting on the "pending" which the other gets a little further to "0.0 MB of 40.1 MB...". It is only a few days until official launch so these basic bugs really ought to have been sorted by now :-(

Hi,
Is it possible to make the Windows Store accessible to Admins only in a standard user account. I have Windows 10 Pro.
Regards,
nherem

Answer:Windows Store Access: Make Store accessible to Admins only?

I think you will have to add the Desktop Experience feature in Windows Server, on your Domain Controllers to enable such a Windows Store Group Policy.
After that you will see the Group Policy setting at: User Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Store
No way I know of to do it on Windows 10 Pro.

Hi, i'm actually on Win 10 CU update (via Update assistant) and today I checked and I had 2 update available on the Store, one for Gears Of War 4 and one for Windows Store.

After clicking on Update all, it closed my Windows store window and opened it back but it was all blank.. Like there's only my avatar icon on upper right.. I tried the wsreset.exe (as administrator) but it didn't work.. Is that normal or am i the only one with this weird bug ?

By the way Gears Of War 4 updated successfully ..

Here's a screenshot of the Store (it's in turkish)

I have a 2 tb Network store on a 1 gig Ethernet, which worked fine on Windows 7.

I ran the upgrade advisor this facility and software was not identified as a potential problem.

However it does NOT WORK.

It just says it is incompatible on Windows 8.

The Novostore website is not helpful.

There is no useful information as to if or when it will be made to work.

Any help welcome perhaps Robinb9 will know what to do?

Regards

Stewart

Answer:NOVO STORE Network Store Not compatible with Windows 8

I got a support notice from Novo'

It said 'FREE upgrade for our Bundle customers'

So I clicked on it to see what it said.

19Euro Admin Charge.

In my book that is NOT FREE

I just got an HP Stream 8, which is my first experience with WIndows 8. I have a Lumia 521 already, and while it certainly isn't the perfect phone, it has served my purposes well for the last year. I've found enough of the apps I need for the phone to keep me from feeling deprived.
So when I started up the Stream 8 tablet and started looking for apps, I was surprised to find that the app situation in the Windows Store seems to be even worse than for WP! (Now, before you say it, I understand the whole thing about being able to install full desktop applications, etc. That's great, and that is part of the reason I wanted the Stream 8. But that's not what I'm talking about here.)
Many apps that *are* in the WP store aren't even in the Windows app store. Pandora and USAA are just the first two I looked for and didn't find, even though they both have very good WP apps. Am I missing something? Even though Android and iOS have gained a ton of market share in the mobile market, Windows is still a dominant force. Why aren't developers building for this?
Boy, Windows 10 can't come soon enough...hopefully developers will then finally feel like MS knows what they are doing and aren't going to change course every year like they have done over the last few years.
Ugh. I want to love this new tablet....
[END RANT]

Answer:Is the Windows Store app situation even worse than the Windows Phone app store?

Yea, the Windows and Windows Phone Store gap is an interesting one, with titles available on one, not on the other and vice versa.
I'd agree the Windows Store is definitely inferior to the WP app selection, but the ability to run legacy programs - although usually not as finger-friendly - is quite the trump card.

I want to upgrade to win10 mobile on my lumia 640 but was wondering if the apps on the two stores are compatible? Do apps on windows phone 8.1 work on windows 10 mobile or can be found on the win10 mobile store?
Are there less apps on the win10 mobile store?
Sorry, I'm just not sure how this works.

Answer:Windows 10 Mobile app store vs Windows Phone 8.1 app store differences?

You can safely upgrade, there's no difference in stores as it's still one and the same store. They're no two app stores for win mobile. You've got nothing to worry about

Question: Microsoft Store

I can't download any app from store, also can't update any app. I am using Lumia 535, and my OS vision is 10586.29

Answer:Microsoft Store

I think you mean the Windows Store, which is where you download apps and games.
Try a soft reset. That generally fixes store problems. In order to do a soft reset, simply hold down the power button and the volume down button until the phone vibrates.
